SPEAKER_00: My vision is to help women break the chains of their past of inner struggles and fears to create new chapters that only our father can write for us.
• 0:24
SPEAKER_00: I'm on a mission and passion to empower you and all the women out there.
• 0:28
SPEAKER_00: This is gonna be your new favorite podcast for daily devotionals and Bible study chats.
• 0:34
SPEAKER_00: Hey guys, welcome back to episode 27.
• 0:37
SPEAKER_00: Uh today we are talking about how we can um represent Jesus um while we're at work.
• 0:45
SPEAKER_00: And um we're gonna break this up into two parts, but before I get started, I just want to open this up in prayer.
• 0:52
SPEAKER_00: Dear Heavenly Father, I just ask that you open our hearts and our minds today, fill us up with your Holy Spirit, um, that you give me the words to say, speak through me today, uh, and speak through every m um listener that's listening.
• 1:05
SPEAKER_00: I just pray over them that this message that they get to hear you from you, um, feel your presence, and that there is something that is said to them today, that they have a takeaway today.
• 1:15
SPEAKER_00: Um, and I just pray your presence over them as well.
• 1:20
  SPEAKER_00: Alright.
• 1:21
SPEAKER_00: So um it was laid on my heart to break this up into two parts a while back when I was like making my lesson plan in advance.
• 1:29
SPEAKER_00: So fun fact I uh create like topics in advanced um that I'm gonna like talk about and then like you know, as the time gets closer, I will then like make a little bit of notes and record the episode, like, you know, before it drops.
• 1:46
SPEAKER_00: While so while I was making my lesson plan, like, you know, looking at the next few episodes and like okay, mapping it out.
• 1:54
SPEAKER_00: Um the Lord was like laying on my heart to break this up into two sections, and I was thinking in my head, like, okay, like I don't really know why, or like what I need to be talking about that's like gonna be so dense it has to be in two parts.
• 2:10
SPEAKER_00: I really did not know what like the future was like gonna hold with this, but I was just like trusting the Lord and I was like, okay, so we're gonna do a part one and a part two because you know it was just laid on my heart that the Lord was telling me to.
• 2:24
  SPEAKER_00: So here we are.
• 2:25
SPEAKER_00: Um, so anyway, um after diving into uh, you know, like looking at my notes and stuff and and writing up the message, the Lord uh really was able to help guide me um with the um the message for today.
• 2:42
SPEAKER_00: And so we're gonna be breaking it up into um a topic of four separate points today, um, and then four points next episode.
• 2:51
SPEAKER_00: And the overall theme of this um episode is gonna be the way that we speak.
• 2:58
SPEAKER_00: Um so we're gonna just jump on into our first point here.
• 3:02
SPEAKER_00: Um our first point is not engaging in gossip and encouraging others not to gossip.
• 3:08
SPEAKER_00: Um, so before I dive into um the message, I want to always start with word.
• 3:15
SPEAKER_00: And so there will have um there will be a um a scripture that goes with every point.
• 3:21
SPEAKER_00: And then we talk about what the Lord has to say about that.
• 3:24
SPEAKER_00: So uh the scripture here we have here is Ephesians chapter 4, verse 29 says, Don't use foul or abusive language.
• 3:34
SPEAKER_00: Let everything that you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
• 3:41
SPEAKER_00: And so I really feel like, especially as women, it can be just so easy for us to be tempted to gossip, even if it's like in a you know, innocent way.
• 3:50
SPEAKER_00: You know, maybe we don't mean to talk badly about somebody, and maybe we're not, maybe we're just talking about somebody, we're just gossiping.
• 3:57
SPEAKER_00: Um, but you know, as children of God, we are really called higher, right?
• 4:04
SPEAKER_00: Um, but I it it definitely can be hard when our coworkers, our work friends, especially as girls, be like, oh my gosh, you know, like girl, guess what?
• 4:12
SPEAKER_00: You know, guess what so-and-so did, or guess what I heard, or I was walking and I heard blah blah blah say, right?
• 4:19
SPEAKER_00: And it's just really easy, and you it's really done in a, you know, it's definitely sometimes not in a malicious way, but sometimes we, you know, we get we get catty and we get gossipy and we just want to talk about other people, and the Lord really has to say here, like, let everything that we say be good and helpful, and let everything that we talk about um be encouragement to other people.
• 4:39
SPEAKER_00: Um, and so He really calls us to not have our own opinion.
• 4:44
SPEAKER_00: Well let me start myself.
• 4:47
SPEAKER_00: That's not at all what I was trying to say.
• 4:49
SPEAKER_00: Of course, we're allowed to have our own opinion and um and feelings, that's not what I meant to say.
• 4:54
SPEAKER_00: Um, but that we don't say our own opinion, right?
• 4:59
SPEAKER_00: Like we have that self-control not to be like, girl, no, she didn't, you know, like I bet you she blah blah blah blah blah, right?
• 5:07
SPEAKER_00: He he doesn't want us to indulge in that worldly behavior and and you know the ways of the world of the law, of of you know, jumping into assumptions, um, you know, our two sense of the conversation of like whoever it is that we're gossiping about.
• 5:24
SPEAKER_00: Um and you know, he calls us to be encouragement, um, and and have encouraging words and to be helpful to others, and you know, so not only do we need to really watch our interaction, but we also need to be encouraging um on others and and you know, okay, so I'm not gonna gossip, and let's say, you know, you're tempted to gossip, you know, your coworkers are like, girl, guess what?
• 5:49
SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, just be like you can easily decline and you don't have to sound weird about it and be like, the Lord doesn't want me to gossip, right?
• 5:57
SPEAKER_00: Absolutely, you can always boast the Lord, but you know, you don't have to make it weird.
• 6:01
SPEAKER_00: You can just be like, you know, not right now.
• 6:04
SPEAKER_00: I've I've got other things to do, or you know, I'll talk to you guys later.
• 6:08
SPEAKER_00: Like, I have to go write this report up, or I don't know, like whatever your job is, right?
• 6:13
SPEAKER_00: Like maybe you um there's always something to do at work.
• 6:16
  SPEAKER_00: I I'm a firm believer at that.
• 6:19
SPEAKER_00: There's always something to do at work, even if you are having a super, super slow night, you don't have any clients or customers or patients or whatever your field is, right?
• 6:29
SPEAKER_00: And it's really just genuinely like dead in there.
• 6:31
SPEAKER_00: It's just you and your coworkers.
• 6:32
SPEAKER_00: You can go find something to clean, you can go to the bathroom, like there's just always something to do at work.
• 6:37
SPEAKER_00: So, you know, in this situation, you know, you can always say, like, hey, I gotta go do A, B, and C.
• 6:43
  SPEAKER_00: Like, I can't talk right now.
• 6:44
SPEAKER_00: You can always find a way out of of gossiping when you're tempted to gossip.
• 6:48
SPEAKER_00: But not only does, you know, the Lord really call us to not gossip and to not engage in that, but also he says that we'd be encouraging to others, you know.
• 6:56
SPEAKER_00: So, yes, we need to watch our interaction and and uh no not gossiping back, but also encouraging others on not to gossip, and you know, we don't necessarily need to be, you know, demanding, like we don't need to come across like, oh, we shouldn't be gossiping, right?
• 7:13
SPEAKER_00: Like, you don't want to come across like I'm oh she's acting like my mother, right?
• 7:17
SPEAKER_00: Um, as the caddy girls say, but um, you know, we could just be in a very uplifting way, saying things like, hey, like, let's be nice, or you know, hey, like, let's not be rude about blah blah blah.
• 7:28
SPEAKER_00: You know, you could just even stick up for the person, um, you know, and just and finding something nice to say about them.
• 7:34
SPEAKER_00: Um, I'll give uh an example.
• 7:37
SPEAKER_00: So there was a situation at my job where others were bashing a coworker for the way that they never do something right in the company's eyes or the way their eyes.
• 7:46
SPEAKER_00: Um so I just kind of would swoop in and and interact in a godly way, and and I will say I'm human, and I definitely had been tempted to gossip, and I would definitely say that I have gossiped, and there have been times I'd, you know, definitely have fallen short of of that, and that I have um indulged in it.
• 8:03
SPEAKER_00: Um, but in this particular um situation, I was really, really trying to be better and really uh repenting for it and really um trying to be the light.
• 8:13
SPEAKER_00: And so um I swooped in and I was interacting in a godly way and I was like, hey, you know, like she really does try her best.
• 8:20
SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, and and I was just sticking up for her and trying to show them to look on the bright side, and I was like, you know, she just really needs some help, you know, learning how to do A, B, and C.
• 8:30
SPEAKER_00: Like I know we've already taught her, but maybe she needs to learn in a different way, maybe she just needs, you know, some extra, you know, help with that.
• 8:37
SPEAKER_00: Maybe she just sl you know learns a little slower and she just could use so some support.
• 8:42
SPEAKER_00: And you know, and then as those people continued to bash, you'd be like, Well, I've already told her three times, or blah blah blah blah blah, you know, whatever they had to say.
• 8:51
SPEAKER_00: They could just kind of continue to say negative things about that person or continue to bash that person in.
• 8:55
SPEAKER_00: So at that point I was like, hey, like, you know, I really don't mind helping her, you know, like let's be nice to her, like you know, you wouldn't like it if you know you found out things were being said like this to you, you know.
• 9:07
SPEAKER_00: So like they have feelings too, like, hey, like, let's really just try to be better about this.
• 9:12
SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, I just felt like I really had, you know, I was really just like, you know, I was really called to have that uh godly light and to be better.
• 9:22
SPEAKER_00: And there was um rec uh during this time there had been recently like conviction of of a conversation I had that I was gossiping, and the Lord like really convicted me for it.
• 9:35
SPEAKER_00: So I was really like, okay, Lord, like I repent, I'm gonna do better.
• 9:38
SPEAKER_00: I you know, I'm not gonna be caught, you know, bashing that person again.
• 9:42
SPEAKER_00: And so the Lord really filled me up with his love and I was able to have that conversation um with my coworkers and and have godly light and not feel any type of way.
• 9:52
SPEAKER_00: I I was feeling actually really full of love and you know, encouraging that I wanted to be encouraging and that I wanted to be, you know, a role model for them, and then I wanted to model the right behavior.
• 10:04
SPEAKER_00: Um, and I will say that even if you're struggling, you know, on your end, um, you know, you can always, you know, always, always, always.
• 10:12
SPEAKER_00: I feel like I say this all the time, and it's like, okay, Amber, like we get it, we pray about it, but like, no, like for real, like there are like real, honest, raw moments where you're you're tempted to gossip, you know, you were frustrated with that coworker because, you know, you're human and you're also frustrated with them because you know they might have not done something right, and you had to kind of redo it or go behind them and fix it, and of course that's frustrating, you know, especially on a Friday afternoon, right?
• 10:39
SPEAKER_00: And so you can definitely be frustrated.
• 10:41
SPEAKER_00: And so then when your call co-workers are gossiping about that same person on Monday morning, it's really easy to be like, oh my gosh, like, yeah, me too.
• 10:48
SPEAKER_00: She really made me mad, right?
• 10:50
SPEAKER_00: But you know, and and sometimes just acknowledging that and being like, hey, Lord, like I'm really tempted this morning.
• 10:56
SPEAKER_00: You know, here's my feelings, you know, she really frustrated me by doing this, you know, and I'm just having a hard time, um, you know, with wanting to gossip about it and just talking to the Lord and being real genuine and praying about, you know, these honest raw moments and saying, like, Lord, I really need help, like, you know, with this today, helping, you know, not gossip today.
• 11:17
SPEAKER_00: And and really just asking for help because he genuinely really will help you and take that desire away from you.
• 11:24
SPEAKER_00: And he will definitely even help you, um, you know, want to be the light and want to be encouraging and really change your heart and your eyes on the situation.
• 11:32
SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, but and sometimes you, you know, I've I've heard from um a friend who was like, you know what, Amber, like I did, I tried that, you know, like I didn't gossip, and I tried to encourage them to um, you know, I really just was trying to encourage them, and I, you know, I was saying things to try to end the gossip, but you know, they were just still really being negative, and they're just really gossiping, like I couldn't end it, like they just kept going, right?
• 11:57
SPEAKER_00: And so, you know what?
• 11:59
SPEAKER_00: Maybe this is my example, and then here's my um analogy.
• 12:02
SPEAKER_00: You leave your light on the table, walk away from the conversation.
• 12:06
SPEAKER_00: Okay, so you chose not to gossip, you chose to redirect the conversation, you chose to stick up for the person, you chose to say something kind and compassionate.
• 12:15
SPEAKER_00: You have tried multiple times, and you and you uh modeled multiple, you know, examples of how to be the light and how to be positive and how to have that godly mindset.
• 12:28
SPEAKER_00: So even if they're still continuing to have this gossip, maybe we need to leave the light on the table.
• 12:33
SPEAKER_00: Okay, so okay, you know what?
• 12:35
SPEAKER_00: Um you you choose to leave that conversation, you choose to walk away from that conversation.
• 12:40
SPEAKER_00: Okay, yes, you you you did all the right things, and sometimes you just can't beat yourself up for not being able to conquer that, you know, conversation.
• 12:48
SPEAKER_00: Walk away, and you have to know and trust in your heart that you being the light will soften those people's hearts, it will work in those people's hearts, and we have to not get discouraged because there are going to be times in your job, many, many times in your job, where this is gonna happen and it's going to take over and over and over again, you know, it's gonna take a lot of effort, it's not gonna just be like this random one conversation when you know and everything's better.
• 13:17
SPEAKER_00: No, you're gonna have to continue to fight the temptation temptation, and you're gonna have to continue to be the light and continue to um not gossip and continue to you know encourage others not to gossip and continue to encourage others to be kind.
• 13:32
SPEAKER_00: And when you do this repetitively, okay, so you know, example, now here it is Monday.
• 13:38
SPEAKER_00: You you have this conversation.
• 13:39
SPEAKER_00: Now here it is Friday.
• 13:40
SPEAKER_00: Every single day these your coworkers are bashing the same coworker because they really don't like that person, right?
• 13:45
SPEAKER_00: So by Friday, you you did this over and over again, every single day, right?
• 13:50
SPEAKER_00: So by Friday, you've been doing this all week long.
• 13:53
SPEAKER_00: You left your light on the table, you continue to shine your light, and they will see that.
• 13:59
SPEAKER_00: They will see your light that shines in you because they will see Christ shining through you, and you have to trust that.
• 14:09
SPEAKER_00: And I know sometimes it can be tricky and you know it can feel discouraging, but we have to not let the devil tell us we're not doing a good enough job.
• 14:19
SPEAKER_00: We have to not let the devil say that didn't work, right?
• 14:23
SPEAKER_00: Or you didn't do a good enough job, or you know, you see, it didn't even work, right?
• 14:29
SPEAKER_00: You have to really be like, you know what, devil?
• 14:31
SPEAKER_00: No, like I is working, I am softening their hearts, you know, the they are seeing the light through me, and I promise you they will see it.
• 14:40
SPEAKER_00: Um, I was continuing to do this, and I was really feeling discouraged myself, if I'm being honest.
• 14:46
SPEAKER_00: There was this one co-worker who's really just kind of rebuttaling me constantly negative, and so I was feeling discouraged because I was kind of really feeling like if I'm being really honest with you, I was feeling like, you know what?
• 14:56
  SPEAKER_00: Screw it, never mind.
• 14:58
SPEAKER_00: I try to be nice, I was trying to be half a godly light.
• 15:01
  SPEAKER_00: I'm trying really hard.
• 15:02
SPEAKER_00: You keep finding negative things to say, like, you know what?
• 15:04
  SPEAKER_00: Never mind.
• 15:04
SPEAKER_00: You want to be a Debbie Downer, just be a Debbie Downer, right?
• 15:07
SPEAKER_00: Like, I was really close to that moment of just being like, you know what?
• 15:11
  SPEAKER_00: Like, just whatever, right?
• 15:13
SPEAKER_00: And kind of just being frustrated and just being like, okay, like whatever, I give up.
• 15:18
SPEAKER_00: And so I was really close to this line here.
• 15:22
SPEAKER_00: Um, but I want to say that I had gone to a training with my co-workers, and um during this training my co-workers, you know, this coworker was there, and um, you know, she was uh complaining and being really negative and just kind of gossiping about like the company and a whole.
• 15:42
SPEAKER_00: And so I I don't remember like the nature of the conversation, but I just remember being like, hey, like trying to be kind, trying to be compassionate, trying to end the gossip, trying to encourage us not to gossip, right?
• 15:53
SPEAKER_00: And I was really just trying to like change the conversation around.
• 15:55
SPEAKER_00: And she really kind of just was like, she admired me, right?
• 15:58
SPEAKER_00: So she acknowledged that I was a late.
• 16:00
SPEAKER_00: She's like, Amber, like I just, you know, I really admire you for always being, you know, thinking on the positive side, and you know, she's like, I love you so much, like you just have so much light in you.
• 16:11
SPEAKER_00: Like, I wish I could have that light in you.
• 16:14
SPEAKER_00: And so for a minute, I was like, wow, like thank you.
• 16:17
SPEAKER_00: Like, finally, like, even though she's still struggling to be positive, like, hey, we're a step in the right direction.
• 16:23
SPEAKER_00: She's like, yeah, just to know that she was acknowledging that she sees the light of Christ in me was like a micro step in the right direction, you know, and so I was grateful for that.
• 16:33
SPEAKER_00: But then it went a step further, and another coworker who was sitting next to me jumped in the conversation and said, Yeah, Amber has the light of Jesus on her.
• 16:44
SPEAKER_00: And that's why she's able to be so positive.
• 16:47
SPEAKER_00: And this was also, mind you, a coworker who I had been praying for and trying to bring to the Lord for like literally, I don't know, a long time, many months.
• 16:56
SPEAKER_00: And I was also still in the process of bringing them to the Lord.
• 17:00
SPEAKER_00: Um, I definitely had gotten them to come around and and to and to start to be in the early stages of coming around, coming around to the Lord.
• 17:07
SPEAKER_00: Um, and so this person interceded, and they were like, you know, like Amber really is like the light of Jesus, and she really is being the light of Christ, and she's able to be kind, and she kind of was like something along the lines of like, you know, she was able to be kind and to be positive because she is the light of Christ in her.
• 17:23
SPEAKER_00: And that was like just the reassurance that I needed from the Lord to know that, like, hey, don't give up.
• 17:29
SPEAKER_00: You're gonna reap, you know, as as he says in the word, you're gonna reap a harvest at the right time.
• 17:34
SPEAKER_00: You know, your your fruit will come.
• 17:35
SPEAKER_00: Um, and so that was exactly what I needed to be like, you know what?
• 17:38
  SPEAKER_00: You're right.
• 17:39
SPEAKER_00: It it takes time sometimes, and it takes endurance and patience to continue to not gossip, to continue to be the light, and to continue to be encouraging.
• 17:49
SPEAKER_00: You know, it can definitely feel um daunting at times.
• 17:53
SPEAKER_00: And so I just I hope that that encourages you in some way that, you know, it will come, it will come, it will happen.
• 18:00
SPEAKER_00: They will see it in you, they will be encouraged to be the light.
• 18:03
SPEAKER_00: Um, and and they definitely will be convicted if nothing, you know, nothing else that they would definitely could be uh convicted to be like, hey, like I really need to, I really want some of that light, you know, like I really need to to do better.
• 18:15
SPEAKER_00: And so um it definitely will that light will rub off because the power of Jesus is real as we know.
• 18:22
SPEAKER_00: Um and so we just have to keep going with it.
• 18:25
SPEAKER_00: Um, but I that kind of just leads me into my next point of watching our language.
• 18:30
SPEAKER_00: Um, so my point here is Colossians 4 um verse 6 says, let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everybody.
• 18:40
SPEAKER_00: So this is similar to gossiping, right?
• 18:43
SPEAKER_00: But this is like more than just gossiping.
• 18:46
SPEAKER_00: So work often gets stressful and busy and overwhelming, and it's really easy for us to start being negative ourselves, you know.
• 18:54
SPEAKER_00: I don't know, like I'm just gonna give some examples here, saying things like, oh, Shane never comes into work.
• 18:58
SPEAKER_00: I don't even understand how somebody can be so sick all the time, right?
• 19:01
  SPEAKER_00: Like I've heard that.
• 19:02
SPEAKER_00: Um, or you know, like, oh I showed them this yesterday, they're still not doing it right.
• 19:06
SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm gonna crash out, like, I don't understand, it's not that hard.
• 19:10
SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, you can say things like, oh, I hate this stupid printer.
• 19:13
SPEAKER_00: Like, I could just guess it didn't want to come to work today.
• 19:15
  SPEAKER_00: Like, I didn't either.
• 19:16
SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna be very honest and I'm just gonna put myself out there.
• 19:19
SPEAKER_00: Like, I've said that so many times.
• 19:22
SPEAKER_00: I crash out at the printer all the time.
• 19:24
SPEAKER_00: And I think if there's any beef that I have any with anybody at work the most, it's the printer.
• 19:30
SPEAKER_00: Um, so um, you know, there have been many um mean words that I've said, negative words that I've said to my computer in the printer.
• 19:39
SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, you know, or things like, oh, I'm so irritated, like I already called my clients, you know, and now I have to write up a report on what I said because I'm being accused of being the bad guy, and I hate feeling like the bad guy when I didn't even do anything wrong, right?
• 19:53
SPEAKER_00: Like, and my point here, like of this specific example, is like you just start to kind of like complain about whatever happened at work, and so it just kind of like snowballs into like a whole complaining session, um, you know, or even cursing, like simple cursing, like this is also watching your language, right?
• 20:07
SPEAKER_00: Like cursing all the time, and you know, having seven cuss words in the span of two sentences.
• 20:13
SPEAKER_00: Um just saying things that's so popular with saying, we say it all the time, like, oh, I don't want to be at work today, I might call out tomorrow.
• 20:22
  SPEAKER_00: I just can't, right?
• 20:23
SPEAKER_00: How many times do we say that?
• 20:24
  SPEAKER_00: Like, I just can't.
• 20:25
SPEAKER_00: Um I'm gonna be honest, I I'm guilty of this.
• 20:28
  SPEAKER_00: I just can't, right?
• 20:29
SPEAKER_00: Like, we're speaking death over, you know, our mind and our hearts, and we're saying, I just can't, you know, we really need to be saying I just can.
• 20:35
SPEAKER_00: Um but God shows us here in Colossians that our conversations need to be gracious and they need to have the self-control to have a godly response for everyone, even when we're tempted to have bad language, even when we're tempted to have curse, even when we're tempted to be negative for whatever reason, you know, we need to recite the verse to ourselves and and watch our language.
• 20:58
SPEAKER_00: Again, God calls us to be higher than the Gentiles.
• 21:03
SPEAKER_00: He calls us to be higher than that, he calls us to watch our language, you know, and and say things like, okay, so I gave you negative examples.
• 21:10
SPEAKER_00: Let's let's let's look at some things that we could say on how we watch our language.
• 21:14
SPEAKER_00: Um I hope she's okay, like she's really been calling out a lot, you know.
• 21:19
SPEAKER_00: Like I know she's going through A, B, and C with her health issues or her family issues or whatever, right?
• 21:24
SPEAKER_00: And I really want to pray for her, you know, and I I hope she's okay.
• 21:27
SPEAKER_00: Um You might be frustrated at her for calling out, and that's totally normal.
• 21:32
SPEAKER_00: We are humans, we have emotions, that's fine.
• 21:35
SPEAKER_00: But fighting that frustration and choosing not to sin in it, and um, you know, saying, Hey, I I am choosing kindness to say something kind and to pray for her.
• 21:44
SPEAKER_00: Um, I know that kind of goes off of my last episode, but uh, you could say things like, Yeah, you know, I understand they need more support learning how to do blanking, learn how to put paper in the printer.
• 21:56
SPEAKER_00: I don't know, you know, but hey, I wouldn't mind helping them again.
• 21:59
  SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't Mind showing them again.
• 22:01
SPEAKER_00: Maybe they're a visual learner, you know.
• 22:03
  SPEAKER_00: Fun fact, everybody.
• 22:04
SPEAKER_00: I'm sure most of you or all of you know, but let's shoot it out there.
• 22:07
SPEAKER_00: There's three different kinds of learners: you got visual learners, you got learners by hearing, and learners by doing.
• 22:13
SPEAKER_00: Okay, so maybe you showed this co-worker how to visually fix the put the paper in the printer, okay?
• 22:20
SPEAKER_00: But maybe they don't learn like that.
• 22:21
SPEAKER_00: Maybe they learn by hearing, and so you have to give them grace and watch your language, even though you're frustrated with them.
• 22:26
SPEAKER_00: You know, it just be like, hey, I don't I don't mind helping them out again.
• 22:29
SPEAKER_00: Maybe they need to hear it.
• 22:30
SPEAKER_00: Let me help them in a different way, or maybe they need to do it.
• 22:33
SPEAKER_00: Maybe I need to like literally have them do it and and explain it to them as they're doing it, right?
• 22:38
SPEAKER_00: And so just kind of being like, I don't mind helping them again, even if we're frustrated to have the self-control and to be kind and watch our language anyway, or oh, I'm so grateful to have a job and that I was able to get here safely today.
• 22:50
SPEAKER_00: You know, on the days that we want to say I don't want to come here, that we change it around.
• 22:53
SPEAKER_00: I'll say that I just did this like last week.
• 22:56
SPEAKER_00: I was walking into work.
• 22:58
SPEAKER_00: I a fun fact about me, I my mornings and me don't get along sometimes, and I have like a hot mess of a life as a mom, and I'm still trying to learn like navigate, you know, how to be a mom and a wife and get to work on time and be a teacher and all the things.
• 23:16
SPEAKER_00: And so I will say many times I am late to work, and so I'm always like trying to be better, and I'm always like, ah, like I don't want to be late to work, right?
• 23:23
SPEAKER_00: Like, I want to be like a good employee, and so I'm always like, oh my gosh.
• 23:26
SPEAKER_00: Well, anyway, the other day I was like, I I don't even want to be here today, or like I was just like over it, and I stopped myself in the parking lot and was like, you know what?
• 23:34
SPEAKER_00: No, I'm grateful that I have this job.
• 23:35
SPEAKER_00: Like the Lord gave me this job.
• 23:37
SPEAKER_00: That's a whole nother testimony tangent in itself.
• 23:40
SPEAKER_00: But I was like, the Lord gave me this job, like I'm so so grateful for this job.
• 23:44
SPEAKER_00: Like, I do want to be here.
• 23:45
SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Amber, like, fix it, you know, like don't think like that.
• 23:50
SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, or even if you're having a bad day and you really are struggling so hard to say something kind when you know you are just full of negativity that day, maybe just be like, you know what, I need to go pray.
• 24:00
  SPEAKER_00: I'm having a rough day.
• 24:02
SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's one of those days that you just pray 17,000 times in the bathroom for strength and and kindness, and that's okay too.
• 24:08
SPEAKER_00: Um, but just you know, finding things to watch your language and say nicely, you know, offering to pray for other people when they're expressing negativity and having a bad day and and and being for there for those co-workers, you know, maybe you're having a fine day, but a coworker is like speaking negatively and they're just like a Debbie Donner, and they've been just like really, really negative and snippy all day, you know, like being like, hey, uh how are you okay?
• 24:33
SPEAKER_00: Like, I feel like you know you're you're having a rough day, like, is there anything I can do to help you?
• 24:37
SPEAKER_00: You know, do you want to pray with me?
• 24:39
SPEAKER_00: You know, offering to pray, right?
• 24:41
SPEAKER_00: Um, and again, just really shining that godly light into the workplace by speaking with a godly character and a godly heart and recognizing that we need to fight our temptations with prayer and scripture, which we're gonna get into here in another point soon.
• 24:55
SPEAKER_00: Um, but I'm gonna jump into the third point, which is don't complain.
• 24:59
SPEAKER_00: Kind of really close to the last point, but um in Philippians 2 verse 14, do everything without complaining or murmuring or arguing in some different um what's I called?
• 25:11
SPEAKER_00: I want to say dialect, but that's not the right word.
• 25:13
SPEAKER_00: Like Bible versions, versions, right?
• 25:15
  SPEAKER_00: What's it called?
• 25:16
  SPEAKER_00: Translations, translations.
• 25:18
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 25:18
SPEAKER_00: Um, but as the word continues on, um he continues on and he tells us why.
• 25:24
SPEAKER_00: The Lord was really speaking to me during during this part in my notes, and I love this so much because we read the verse, do everything without complaining or arguing.
• 25:32
SPEAKER_00: And how many times did your parent tell you something when you were a kid and you asked why, and they were like, Because I said so, right?
• 25:39
SPEAKER_00: This is not a because I said so verse at all.
• 25:41
SPEAKER_00: This is not a because I said so attitude from the Lord.
• 25:44
SPEAKER_00: Uh but he uh uh explains and everything that he instructs us and uh directs us to do is for our own benefit, and we need we really need to grasp that that we're not just oh yes, we need to obey him, but it's not just obeying him because he is God and we need to submit to him, but it's it's more than that.
• 26:06
SPEAKER_00: We follow and obey the verse because he knows what we need to do for our own benefit.
• 26:14
SPEAKER_00: And so this right here is one of those verses where we have a reason.
• 26:20
SPEAKER_00: There's reasons why, for our own benefit.
• 26:21
SPEAKER_00: And so he continues in verse 15 and he says, so that way nobody can criticize you, you know, and then a little bit farther in the verse he says, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.
• 26:33
SPEAKER_00: So he tells us not to complain with or about our coworkers and how the company is run and what they do wrong and not to argue with your coworkers on a procedure or a boss, um, you know, not just because God says so, but because this way nobody can find us guilty with fault.
• 26:49
SPEAKER_00: Nobody can, you know, see us as a disappointment because all we do is complain, or see us as a heavily flawed person because we're a Debbie Downer, right?
• 26:58
SPEAKER_00: But he wants us to be seen as shining our light bright for all to see, for all of, you know, all of the non-believers and for the people out there who are being negative and heck for even other believers who, you know, need to, you know, need to also see and be encouraged to grow in their faith as well, and to see the presence of the Holy Spirit living in you.
• 27:21
  SPEAKER_00: That's why we don't complain.
• 27:26
SPEAKER_00: And you know, it can it's connected with you know the first two points is okay, so we we don't complain, you know, we're not gossiping, we're watching our language, right?
• 27:36
SPEAKER_00: Um, and so this is going to lead into the fourth point, um, which is speaking the word into the workplace.
• 27:45
SPEAKER_00: And so Proverbs 18, verse 21A says the tongue can bring life.
• 27:49
SPEAKER_00: Um no, let me say that again.
• 27:52
SPEAKER_00: The tongue can bring death or life.
• 27:54
SPEAKER_00: Those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
• 27:57
SPEAKER_00: And so my last point here is that the importance of getting in the word, um, it's a domino effect.
• 28:03
SPEAKER_00: And so I really want to look at this domino effect backwards.
• 28:06
SPEAKER_00: Um, the Lord laid it on my heart, this domino effect, and and I just felt like it was easier to explain to look at it backwards.
• 28:12
SPEAKER_00: So let's let's we're gonna look at the last domino and how it tips back to the first one, okay?
• 28:18
SPEAKER_00: So in order to speak and recite scripture over your work life and your coworkers, what do you need to do?
• 28:26
SPEAKER_00: This means that you must know and memorize the word, right?
• 28:29
SPEAKER_00: Because you have to know and memorize the word if you're gonna speak it over your coworkers.
• 28:33
SPEAKER_00: So, okay, so in order to know and memorize the word, what then falls into after that?
• 28:40
SPEAKER_00: You have to get in the word, right?
• 28:43
SPEAKER_00: You have to memorize the word.
• 28:44
SPEAKER_00: You can't you can't be able to memorize the word if you don't get in the word to memorize the word, right?
• 28:51
SPEAKER_00: Okay, so get in the word.
• 28:52
  SPEAKER_00: Now what?
• 28:53
SPEAKER_00: How do you get in the word, right?
• 28:56
  SPEAKER_00: There's another domino effect.
• 28:57
SPEAKER_00: You have to get in the word because you have you you must read it daily and regularly open your Bible, okay?
• 29:04
SPEAKER_00: You have to open your Bible and read the word, right?
• 29:08
SPEAKER_00: So, like let's look at the domino effect, like the right way, right?
• 29:13
SPEAKER_00: In case I'm not explaining, you know, right.
• 29:16
SPEAKER_00: Um, but okay, so you have to daily get in your Bible, regularly read the word so that you're able to memorize the word, and so that you are able to recite um the word, and you're able to say, okay, in Hebrews 13, verse 6, so we can say with confidence, the Lord is my helper, so I have no fear for what can man do to me, right?
• 29:39
SPEAKER_00: So we have to be able to get in the word and read the word to be able to memorize the word, and when we memorize the word, then we can speak it over our coworkers.
• 29:48
SPEAKER_00: So we need to look at where we are in this line here and where our next step is.
• 29:55
SPEAKER_00: I will say for me, I'll be honest, I am somewhere in the middle.
• 29:59
SPEAKER_00: I get in my Bible daily and regularly, and I am in the process of memorizing more and more verses.
• 30:07
SPEAKER_00: Um, I do speak um scripture over myself and over my family, and um the Lord is really helping me grow in this area recently and speaking scripture over my coworkers.
• 30:18
SPEAKER_00: Um, but I have to continue to memorize more scripture and continue to get in the word more so that I can continue to grow um, you know, in that area, and I can continue to be able to speak more scripture over people.
• 30:31
SPEAKER_00: Um, because the the word is alive and breathing through the Holy Spirit, and that's just a whole different sermon that I will do another day.
• 30:38
SPEAKER_00: But there is power in speaking scripture over people, and I want to give an example because you don't have to make it weird and be like, okay, Matthew 11, 28 through 30 says this, right?
• 30:48
  SPEAKER_00: No.
• 30:49
SPEAKER_00: But if you know and memorize the word, then when you're speaking it to a coworker, you're able to, you know, to speak it over them.
• 30:56
SPEAKER_00: So a coworker who's burnt out, you know, you say to them, Hey, I know you're tired, I know you're burnt out and weary, like I see you, you know, and I'm really sorry that you're going through that, but you can find rest in Jesus, and he is there for you.
• 31:08
SPEAKER_00: And you can, you know, if you come to him, he will give you rest.
• 31:11
SPEAKER_00: And hey, you know, do you want to pray with me?
• 31:14
SPEAKER_00: You know, and in that prayer, you know, hopefully they say yes, and in that prayer, you can declare um this scripture over them.
• 31:22
SPEAKER_00: You can declare that they're gonna seek God when they're tired, you know.
• 31:25
SPEAKER_00: Dear Jesus, I lift up to you, Amber, you know, that when she's tired and when she's weary, that she will come to you so that she can see rest in, you know, she can see rest in you.
• 31:35
SPEAKER_00: Um and you know, that's how you can speak the scripture.
• 31:39
SPEAKER_00: You don't necessarily have to say, you know, exactly where it's coming from and word for word, but that right there is speaking scripture over somebody because the scripture is alive and the word is alive, you are able to speak that and declare that over them.
• 31:55
SPEAKER_00: Um, and and continue to trust and put the seeds in those people and trust that the Lord will do his work.
• 32:00
SPEAKER_00: Um, another example is when a coworker is talking to you about not understanding how in the world, you know, they're gonna see the next outcome in their situation.
• 32:10
SPEAKER_00: You know, maybe they're like, I don't know, they're having issues with their children or their bills, right?
• 32:17
SPEAKER_00: And they just don't know what's gonna come next, and they're just really scared right now, and there's just a lot of stress because, you know, it doesn't look good right now in their life.
• 32:24
SPEAKER_00: You know, we can say to them, hey, we can't always see what's gonna happen next, but we do have a God that you can trust, and we do have a God that you can have faith in, and you know, put your faith in God and He will make a way.
• 32:36
SPEAKER_00: Um, and then you can say, Hey, do you want to pray together?
• 32:40
SPEAKER_00: And hopefully they say yes, and again, you can pray with them, and you can pray with them, you know, over 2 Corinthians 5 or 7.
• 32:47
SPEAKER_00: You can say, like, hey, you don't have to say that, but you know, that's what the verse is that I'm referencing.
• 32:51
SPEAKER_00: Hey, I lift up Amber to you, that she will walk by faith, Father, not by sight in any of her circumstances, whatever she's going through.
• 32:58
SPEAKER_00: You know, you can list the you know, list the circumstance and be like, hey, I lift her up to you, that she will walk by faith in you and not not by sight, but we know that you will make a way, right?
• 33:06
SPEAKER_00: And just and declaring that over her.
• 33:09
SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, so as I uh wrap up my message today, I just I want to encourage you that you have to continue to get in the word to know the word, and you can never know the word enough, truthfully.
• 33:23
SPEAKER_00: I know people who have read the entire Bible multiple times and they still continue to learn more and more and more in the word.
• 33:31
SPEAKER_00: Um so you know, we just there's just more.
• 33:34
SPEAKER_00: There's always more in the Bible, and we can just continue to get more in the word and get memorize more so we can speak more.
• 33:41
SPEAKER_00: Um but I wanna quickly just like recite our four overall points um on how we were representing Jesus at work today, just so that, you know, it's fresh in our mind.
• 33:53
SPEAKER_00: Maybe we write it down, whatever.
• 33:55
SPEAKER_00: Um, but so our our first one is not engaging in gossip and encouraging others not to gossip either.
• 34:02
SPEAKER_00: Um, our second point was watching our language.
• 34:05
SPEAKER_00: Um, we have not complaining, and then we have speaking the word into the workplace.
• 34:10
SPEAKER_00: Um so as I wrap us up completely, I would just love to um we're gonna pray before we go, but before I do, and we're talking about prayer, um, um, I always like to say about our prayer requests.
• 34:22
SPEAKER_00: Um I have a little form that you can fill out in my show notes.
• 34:27
  SPEAKER_00: It's it's called like prayer requests.
• 34:30
SPEAKER_00: Um it has a link that you can click to it.
• 34:32
SPEAKER_00: I would absolutely love to pray with you if there's anything that I can pray with you about.
• 34:35
SPEAKER_00: If it's even if it's for you know in regards to this message today or anything else, I would just love to pray with you.
• 34:40
SPEAKER_00: You can always shoot me a prayer request and um, you know, I can pray with you um for you, whatever you're comfortable with.
• 34:48
SPEAKER_00: There's like an area where you can leave your number or I don't know, a form of contact, and we can actually get in touch with each other and like talk to each other and um pray over each other and and that's just like a really awesome way I'm um I will say I've had a few people give um turn some in and it's just really awesome.
• 35:04
SPEAKER_00: Um, so I always encourage you to do that.
• 35:06
SPEAKER_00: You know, there is power in numbers of prayer.
• 35:09
SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, let me wrap this up and pray us out.
• 35:13
SPEAKER_00: See your father, I just lift up every single listener to you wherever they are going, wherever they are traveling to, if they're in the car, whether at work, whether at home, just father, wherever they are, I just I pray over a protection over them, Father, um, against all of the evil forces over them, that you will give them a protection, that as they continue to have a heart of integrity and do what is right as they continue to wait for you, that you will protect them, um, Father, and that um you continue to speak to them and guide them in their lives today.
• 35:40
  SPEAKER_00: Amen.
• 35:42
SPEAKER_00: All right, guys, thank you so much for listening.
