[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans welcome in to dovall daily, presented by Genjag.com and fueled by brass tax coffee right now.
• 0:05
[SPEAKER_00]: We are talking about Patrick McCary who, according to Enrappport, had back surgery.
• 0:12
  [SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's starting right guard.
• 0:15
  [SPEAKER_00]: back surgery.
• 0:16
[SPEAKER_00]: This is the exact report from RAPGET.
• 0:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's guard Patrick McCary recently underwent back surgery per me and Mike Garofolo, though he is expected to play again this season.
• 0:29
[SPEAKER_00]: To their depth, but no decision yet on IR.
• 0:33
[SPEAKER_00]: The wording of this is interesting, and I didn't even realize the wording until right now.
• 0:38
  [SPEAKER_00]: Why it's interesting.
• 0:41
[SPEAKER_00]: hit to their depth, but no decision yet on our.
• 0:48
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this guy's signed to a starting guard deal.
• 0:52
[SPEAKER_00]: He has been the Jaguar starting right guard since he's been in Jacksonville, which is, you know, since 2025, since this new regime came in, and
• 1:02
[SPEAKER_00]: But this is a hit to their depth.
• 1:03
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's worded as if he wasn't expected to start anyways.
• 1:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Neither here nor there at this point.
• 1:11
[SPEAKER_00]: We won't really know the true answer to that, maybe ever.
• 1:14
[SPEAKER_00]: But Patrick McCary, back surgery,
• 1:19
[SPEAKER_00]: expected to play again this season, notice is in yet on IR.
• 1:22
[SPEAKER_00]: So first, you know, there's the human element to this.
• 1:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Guy signs a deal to go, you know, kind of be a leader on a new offensive line for a new regime and just can't stay healthy.
• 1:35
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, last year he was dealing with multiple injuries and knee injury, a back injury.
• 1:40
  [SPEAKER_00]: And
• 1:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Now you get to this year and no participation during team drills, we've been doing training camp for now several weeks, no position in team drills, seemingly like regression in terms of the participation in individual stuff.
• 2:03
  [SPEAKER_00]: and it's been a weird situation.
• 2:06
[SPEAKER_00]: But the human element, you just feel bad for the guy, right?
• 2:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, gutted through injuries last year, played through injuries last year.
• 2:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if the, so he had the back at the end of the season.
• 2:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that went away came back.
• 2:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it's been bothering him this whole time and they're just like trying to manage it and thinking they can get through it and then eventually they figure out now we can't get through this we need to have surgery.
• 2:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't know the exact situation, right?
• 2:38
[SPEAKER_00]: But whatever it is, it seems like this is probably an issue that he has been dealing with since at least January when the Jaguar season ended.
• 2:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, which is interesting, like, where they just trying to put it off, put it off, put it off, maybe it'll heal.
• 2:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, that speculation, I don't really know, but it would be really unfortunate if they had like the opportunity to get this done sooner and get him back quicker.
• 3:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, it's not something that they think is going to keep him out for the entire year, based on the report.
• 3:20
[SPEAKER_00]: And regarding IR, I mean, they can place him on IR at the end of training camp and get him back during the season.
• 3:28
[SPEAKER_00]: If they want to go down that route, I think it probably will be just like he had the surgery.
• 3:34
[SPEAKER_00]: When did they say he had it recently?
• 3:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I think was the the verbids there.
• 3:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, recently I would have been in the last few days.
• 3:42
[SPEAKER_00]: And so if he recently had the surgery,
• 3:46
[SPEAKER_00]: And they expect them to be back in a few months, whatever it may be.
• 3:49
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you can put them on my IR and design an intern and bring them back.
• 3:54
[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, if this is something that could have been dealt with a month ago, six months ago, I don't know, just seems like maybe could have gotten ahead of this, but maybe not, you know, maybe it was one of those things where the doctor thought it would heal up and on its own and it didn't door it got re-aggravated or whatever it may be.
• 4:13
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's just a tough situation for him.
• 4:17
[SPEAKER_00]: tough situation for the Jaguars, they've been dealing with offensive line injuries just throughout camp, I mean, and even going back to Week 18 of last year, right, with Cole Van Lanning getting injured and then having missed the wildcard round game against the bills and maybe the Jaguars win that game of Cole Van Lanning out there as protecting Trevor Lawrence's blind side, but that's neither here nor there at this point.
• 4:48
[SPEAKER_00]: They have a mass-starting ride guard on their depth chart.
• 4:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, he's not starting the season.
• 4:55
[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't seem like when will he be able to come back who knows because they could play some on IR or they could not either way you can come back.
• 5:02
[SPEAKER_00]: But if they don't play some on IR, then you would probably expect you would be back in the first month.
• 5:10
  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
• 5:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm no expert on back surgeries or anything like that.
• 5:14
  [SPEAKER_00]: But
• 5:15
  [SPEAKER_00]: Stinks for him.
• 5:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, good for him that he was able to get paid some, but that contract, I mean, it's basically a two-year deal.
• 5:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, it was a three-year contract on paper, but the jags, they can get out of it after 2026, and the way they've been moving, kind of feels like maybe they will, we'll get in all that stuff, but it does really make you wonder, like if they knew something was going on, could have gotten ahead of it, but
• 5:40
[SPEAKER_00]: 29 years old and signed for 13 million dollars per year last year and it just so far it looks like a horrible signing and that's nothing personal against the guy and it just is what it is so far.
• 5:52
[SPEAKER_00]: He played a lot of last year through injury, knee injury, back injury did not play well.
• 5:59
[SPEAKER_00]: And now you're going into this season, not having training camp and coming off
• 6:07
  [SPEAKER_00]: So that's a tough deal.
• 6:09
[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, probably not going to be there for 2027 because the Jaguars will save a bunch of money by moving on.
• 6:15
[SPEAKER_00]: So tough deal for sure.
• 6:19
[SPEAKER_00]: If he starts on IR, it does kind of kill your depth a little bit.
• 6:24
[SPEAKER_00]: They've been up, you know, what's Creek with offensive line injuries for sure.
• 6:30
[SPEAKER_00]: not a good spot, but the jags, you know, they are expected, according to Liam Cohen, to get the starters out there, Friday night against the Carolina Panthers.
• 6:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, Patrick McCary will not be among them, but the jags are currently three and a half point home favorites.
• 6:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Over the Panthers this week, over at my bookie, I still don't know how I feel about that.

• 7:29
  [SPEAKER_00]: So,
• 7:33
[SPEAKER_00]: What does this look like now?
• 7:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like for now, let's just take Patrick McCary out of the picture.
• 7:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Where you got with your offensive line.
• 7:41
[SPEAKER_00]: You're waiting on Colvane Landon to come back from the actor slash PUP.
• 7:45
[SPEAKER_00]: He did have a helmet when he was working on the side today.
• 7:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't know what that means, but the Jaguars have said publicly that they expect him to be back for the regular season.
• 7:56
  [SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully he can be.
• 7:57
[SPEAKER_00]: As of right now, you have less than a month until the Jaguars kick off
• 8:04
  [SPEAKER_00]: clocks taken there.
• 8:06
  [SPEAKER_00]: No doubt about it.
• 8:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Walker little had been down for a little bit.
• 8:11
[SPEAKER_00]: He returned to individual drills today to not participate in team practice.
• 8:16
  [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
• 8:18
  [SPEAKER_00]: So there's a big ones.
• 8:21
  [SPEAKER_00]: McCary, Van Lannon, little.
• 8:27
[SPEAKER_00]: It looks like other than that you're in a good spot.
• 8:34
  [SPEAKER_00]: anyway you shake it.
• 8:37
[SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully Walker little can get back into team drills quickly.
• 8:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully, Cole Van Lannon will return and get ready to play before the start of the regular season at right tackle now because Anton Harrison is your starting left tackle.
• 8:55
[SPEAKER_00]: you know, based on practice, everything we've seen out there on the field, and then the depth chart is also showing that now.
• 9:03
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, Anton here is since starting left tackle, hopefully Cole VanLan is starting right tackle, but until, so the jack wars are trying to play their starters, right, on Friday against the Panthers.
• 9:12
[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't just bringing up that, you know, for fun, right?
• 9:15
[SPEAKER_00]: They're planning on playing their starters.
• 9:18
[SPEAKER_00]: What is their starting offensive line without Cole VanLand and without Patrick McCary, potentially without Walker little, will be out there tomorrow and see what Walker little's doing and then also Wednesday they have the joint practices, right?
• 9:34
[SPEAKER_00]: What does it look like if you don't have those three guys?
• 9:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Today you saw Ezra Cleveland working some right tackle.
• 9:42
[SPEAKER_00]: You saw a manual pregnant on that left guard in that spot while I'm at right guard.
• 9:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Robert Hainesy at Center Anton Harris in a left tackle.
• 9:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I really do like the duo of pregnant on in Harris and on the left side.
• 9:56
  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a lot of fun.
• 9:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Hainesy, I've said, you know, great experience, great communicator understands the offense, but you know, probably a replacement level center.
• 10:05
[SPEAKER_00]: They do have Joan O'Mon, I'm a fan of, as a backup center.
• 10:10
[SPEAKER_00]: What does that right side look like is the real question?
• 10:13
[SPEAKER_00]: And the answer could, as your Cleveland be the right tackle, he played tackle in college.
• 10:18
[SPEAKER_00]: He's been forced into some spot duty here as a tackle on the left side.
• 10:23
[SPEAKER_00]: He's normally your left guard.
• 10:25
[SPEAKER_00]: He hasn't done much on the right side in Jacksonville.
• 10:28
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, that's an option.
• 10:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Why am I lament right tackle is an option?
• 10:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't love either of those options.
• 10:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Certainly not for a regular season game, but even in a preseason game like you're trying to keep Trevor Lawrence clean If you're getting your starters out there, you're eating Trevor Lawrence out there playing football on a Friday night in a meaningless game You gotta keep him clean and This the panthers coming in here like no next Gordon right They still got talent up front
• 11:06
[SPEAKER_00]: They've got a lot of talent up front, and I would not want Trevor Lewis to be put in a situation where and we don't know exactly what the Panthers will do yet, but where I J.L.M.
• 11:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Phillips or Prince Liumon, M.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L.L
• 11:37
[SPEAKER_00]: And just, you know, clock and Trevor Lawrence.
• 11:41
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the last thing you need right now.
• 11:43
[SPEAKER_00]: And it feels like with the lack of experience on the right side, that that could be a major, major problem.
• 11:52
[SPEAKER_00]: So we're gonna have to see how this thing plays out.
• 11:54
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Liam Cohen said that the plan right now is to get the starters up to a couple drives the plan could change.
• 12:01
  [SPEAKER_00]: could absolutely change.
• 12:02
[SPEAKER_00]: If they feel like they're not going to be able to protect Trevor Lawrence on the right side of the offensive line, there's no need to put him out there.
• 12:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, can you do some things grammatically to mitigate that?
• 12:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but it's like, what's the point?
• 12:17
[SPEAKER_00]: If I was them and I'm not feeling confident about what we've got going on the right side, I would wait.
• 12:25
[SPEAKER_00]: and I wouldn't put them out there, so that's kind of my thought process.
• 12:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know what you think in the comment section below.
• 12:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Patrick McCary, hopefully you can rest up and get ready to play some football here in 2026 and help the team because they need the depth and that's what Patrick McCary's been.
• 12:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Throughout most of his career is like the sixth guy who can come out, play center, play guard, play tackle, can do whatever you need him to do, but as a primary backup, not a full-time starter.
• 12:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar sounded to be a full-time starter, I was excited about it, had him in healthy.
• 12:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it would work out, but that just hasn't been the case to this point.
• 13:01
[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, hopefully he's able to get healthy and contribute out there soon or rather than later, but for now, no Patrick McCary until further notice.
• 13:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in support in the channel.
