This briefing uses an A I-generated voice. Today, Meta has removed disputed wording from its commercial terms, though it says its crawler practices haven't changed. Replit now defaults to OpenAI, with Claude still available. AtMem's developer explains why a stronger test score still missed every memory in a 100-item replay. And Archon has repaired provider binaries that could reload keys from a project's environment file. DeepSeek updates Flash but keeps the same API name and price. DeepSeek upgraded its website, app and API to V4.1-Flash-1017 on October 17. The API still uses the deepseek-flash alias at the same price. The company also released the updated weights under the MIT license. The model card reports a score of 42.3 on Terminal-Bench 4.0, up from 31.2 for the previous version. DeepSeek says the model completes tasks faster and produces shorter answers. The company also opened its search and page-fetching APIs. DeepSeek supplied the performance and cost claims. HotTea has not reproduced them. Terminal-Bench results can also vary with the benchmark version and the software used to run the test. Run the new version against saved tasks. Compare completed work, retries and total cost. Then watch for independent tests of this revision. Meta removes disputed wording from its commercial terms. The Verge reported on October 17 that Meta had removed wording about scraping publishers' work for A I training after publishers raised concerns about it. Meta says its crawler practices haven't changed. Nieman Lab had also reported concerns from legal experts about the old terms. The wording is gone, but the edit doesn't show what Meta crawled or settle separate copyright questions. Comparing the revised terms with Meta's crawler instructions and any later publisher agreements may provide more evidence. The revised policy still can't show how Meta's crawler behaved before the change. Replit makes OpenAI its default, while Claude stays available. Replit CEO Amjad Masad says OpenAI is now the default provider, but Claude remains an option. Replit's model-selector documentation lists models by mode. It also says access depends on rollout, organization settings and authorization, so some accounts may not have every model in the published table. Before starting a task, check which model the account selects. Then compare results and costs. Replit's default doesn't prove that the company ranks every model by quality. AtMem's memory classifier rejected all 100 items in a replay. In an October 17 community research post, Javad Taghia reported why AtMem did not ship a fine-tuned memory classifier. Its fully correct test transitions rose from 18.4% to 73.8%. A rule that always rejected storage scored 91.1% on the same data. A later version rejected all 100 replay observations. The developer ran this small experiment, not an independent lab. The replay used fictional items that the developer had inspected during development. The deterministic baseline made only 30 correct decisions out of 100. Independent replays should include rare cases when the system needs to save a memory. Tests should count missed memories and later corrections, not only overall accuracy. Archon fixes binaries that could reload a project's environment file. Archon released version 0.12.1 on October 17. Its maintainers say the version 0.12.0 provider binaries could reload keys from a project's environment file after the main program removed them. That meant a project API key could override the user's subscription. Source installs weren't affected. These are the maintainers' claims about one configuration-loading defect. The release doesn't prove that every Archon security issue is fixed, and it doesn't establish that users faced unauthorized charges. Archon's maintainers recommend that affected binary users upgrade and add the provider plugins again. Before running another project, check the provider configuration. That is the signal before the noise. This briefing was produced from Hot Tea's verified daily edition. For the complete briefing and every source link, visit Hot Tea dot A I.
