Latest / The Immutable Word / EP039 Angelology Part 1: What the Bible Really Says About Their Nature and Role
Transcript
- 0:00Jesus starts talking about children and he says, their angels do always behold the face of my father.
- 0:08He says, their angels, those children.
- 0:11So that means that there are angelic spiritual representatives in heaven before
- 0:18God that are beholding the face of God, but they are representative of those children here on earth.
- 0:26Welcome to the Immutable Word. We are in the
- 0:29wake of thanksgiving we're still in recovery but hey
- 0:32we're back in the garage again we have
- 0:35another good episode planned for you uh this evening speaking
- 0:38of thanksgiving i think we're still tackling all the
- 0:41leftovers and i assume that you're you're probably still working on
- 0:44all that brisket that uh that we had the
- 0:48other day so i'm all turkeyed out hammed out brisket out i don't know i i don't
- 0:53think i'm brisket out i can eat brisket all the time well we ended up making
- 0:57steaks today for dinner so that's a nice shift it was actually a nice twist
- 1:02we may do Asian sometime this week I don't know we'll see,
- 1:06I'm getting to the point where honestly I don't like eating leftovers a whole lot anymore.
- 1:12I kind of like changing it. Something with age, I guess, right?
- 1:15Yeah. Like, why eat leftovers when you can just not eat leftovers? Nope.
- 1:20Yeah, same. Still working on the remnants. I can tell you that the brisket is
- 1:24still good even as leftovers, though. Oh, yeah.
- 1:27Yeah. I mean, the brisket tacos, you know, mix that with eggs,
- 1:31throw that into a tortilla, and you've got something delicious there.
- 1:34And then the other day we made brisket fried rice.
- 1:38I might have told you about that. The brisket fried rice. I think you were. Pretty amazing.
- 1:43Yeah, that's like your Texas-Asian mix fusion is brisket fried rice.
- 1:48If you've never had it, try it. It's pretty amazing.
- 1:51But anyways, I think talking about Thanksgiving is a good segue into the topic of angels.
- 1:57I don't know if that's— Perfect segue. Yeah, perfect segue. There's a relation,
- 2:01angels and Thanksgiving.
- 2:03And we're thankful for angels. Amen, amen. But yeah, we're going to be starting—I guess this is an intro.
- 2:10We're going to be covering some high-level points on angels,
- 2:15so I'll be running through some key biblical areas here.
- 2:19We'll talk about the definition, talk about the physical nature.
- 2:23Talk about just the capabilities of angels, which I think gets pretty interesting.
- 2:28But we'll start with maybe the definition and start rolling in from there.
- 2:34Yeah, well, before we do that, I kind of want to do kind of a validation of
- 2:38the topic, because, you know, nowadays you do hear a lot, and there's always
- 2:43been a fascination with angels, right?
- 2:45Everybody, I mean, from Renaissance photos to artwork to...
- 2:50Modern-day topics about angels, angels saving people, just all kinds of stories
- 2:56that people have, whether or not they're true, fabricated, maybe they're even at worst deceptions.
- 3:04I felt like because of the way things are, especially in this generation,
- 3:09the closer we get to the rapture, the closer we get to the Antichrist,
- 3:13it's a significant topic.
- 3:15It is a branch of theology. You know, whenever you're studying theology,
- 3:20there is a topic called angelology, which is the study of angels.
- 3:24That's all that means. And so what we want to do today is actually just kind
- 3:29of go into what the Bible reveals to us about angels.
- 3:34Right. We kind of move away from, you know, the speculation,
- 3:39people's opinions, what you see on television shows, documentaries.
- 3:44I mean, there's all kinds of twisted information out there.
- 3:48That's fabricated. It's usually legend, myth, you know, things like that that's
- 3:52outside of the Word of God.
- 3:53So if the Bible is our final authority, then we need to go to the Bible to see,
- 3:57well, how does the Bible describe angels?
- 4:00When the Bible talks about angels, what are the kind of things that we observe?
- 4:05What can we learn about it?
- 4:06And that's really what we want to do. So that way we can kind of clear the air
- 4:10about what angels are, their role, their ministry, you know,
- 4:15what they are, definition of angels, things like that.
- 4:18And then, you know, that way, whenever we do,
- 4:21see, you know, whatever it is out there in the world.
- 4:24Maybe we're exposed to a documentary information that comes our way.
- 4:27Somebody gives us a book, somebody points us to a movie or whatever,
- 4:31or they show us, you know, some kind of a YouTube channel talking about angels.
- 4:35Then we can kind of like discern between, you know, what the Bible actually
- 4:39says about angels and what it doesn't. So here's another thing too, to think about.
- 4:43And I think this is equally as important, is that there's a lot of information
- 4:48about angels, again, recently, because of books that we talk about that are not canonical books.
- 4:57You have books that are the apocryphal, and then you have other books like the Book of Enoch, right?
- 5:05Well, that's where a lot of this modern-day stuff about angels is concerned.
- 5:10One thing that people, I don't think, maybe, Alan, I don't know if you've ever thought about this.
- 5:15You ever thought about how many cults are associated with angels,
- 5:20or angels are somehow part of their origin story?
- 5:23Like, for example, Muslims, they believe that the angel Gabriel had 600 wings.
- 5:28He came to Muhammad and gave him the revelation of the Quran.
- 5:34Equally as important is because Muhammad was illiterate. He couldn't write it,
- 5:38but apparently he recited that information.
- 5:41This is 600 years after Christ.
- 5:44Then, of course, you had in the 1800s, you had the angel Moroni,
- 5:49or Moroni, I guess that's how you say it, and he came to Joseph Smith,
- 5:52the founder of the Mormon religion.
- 5:55And gave him, you know, these golden tablets that was supposedly or allegedly the Book of Mormon.
- 6:02So there's other, again, there's a lot of other cultish groups that find their
- 6:08origin or their methodology that comes to them by way of an angel, you know,
- 6:15and not to get too deep into a later study,
- 6:17but, you know, in Galatians, Paul says that though we are an angel, you know, from heaven,
- 6:23preach unto you any other gospel, let them be accursed, including the angel.".
- 6:27So it's just interesting that we've gotten other gospel messages,
- 6:31supposedly, that originated by an angel, whether it's true or not,
- 6:36whether it's a fabrication.
- 6:37If it's true, then you're talking about a demon that's talking,
- 6:41you know, that's giving a gospel that's in direct contradiction to what the Word of God tells us.
- 6:45So that's where, you know, again, you know, we can go on and on,
- 6:48but the point is, that's why it's important to settle the air.
- 6:52What does the Bible say about angels? It's important that a Bible believer know
- 6:58where to look, things to consider. This is by no means an exhaustive study.
- 7:02We're going to look at four different aspects around angels.
- 7:05Today, we'll look more about the doctrine of angels, what the Bible reveals
- 7:09to us about their nature, their abode, their ministry, things like that.
- 7:15So anyway, I kind of want to just provide that as a kind of an introduction
- 7:19before we start digging into it.
- 7:21It's a good way to set the stage before we get into it.
- 7:24I mean, you covered angels and the misperception of angels in popular culture and religion.
- 7:31It's interesting about Muslim religion and the Mormon religion,
- 7:37the prevalence of angels.
- 7:39And also, it's just intertwined, and it's very popular in our culture today.
- 7:44I mean, the most obvious thing that we see is, you know, angels have wings.
- 7:48And, you know, that's clearly not the case when we search through scriptures. It's just one example.
- 7:53Yeah. Yeah, we definitely got to deal with a lot of the misconceptions about angels.
- 7:59What are some of the things, again, the myth, the legends that often get perpetrated
- 8:04in popular culture, right?
- 8:06And if you hear it long enough, then it must be true.
- 8:09And again, of course, if you see a great AI-generated graphic of an angel with
- 8:14wings, it must be true, right?
- 8:16Or it's on a documentary, or we see angels, you know, with wings in ancient
- 8:22drawings or Renaissance drawings, then it must be true. Again, anything but the Bible.
- 8:27So it's important to try to make that clarification.
- 8:30Yeah, nothing but a Bible to clear it up. But yeah, let's roll into it.
- 8:34So I guess we can start with the definition.
- 8:36So the actual word for angel, the Greek word actually means messenger. That's what it means.
- 8:43So the takeaway is, oh, angels must be messengers.
- 8:47They isolate them to the Greek term or the Greek word messenger.
- 8:53However, whenever you start looking at the Bible, one, the word angel shows
- 8:57up 201 times in 192 verses.
- 9:01And what we come to find out, the more that you study, and as far as the observations,
- 9:06like every time an angel shows up, when you see what an angel is doing,
- 9:10probably the most accurate definition of an angel is that an angel is an appearance
- 9:15or a visible representative of something.
- 9:18And we'll look at that here in just a minute, but it's not purely a messenger.
- 9:24I'm not saying they don't bring messages.
- 9:27I'm just saying that that is not their only ministry. A lot of some popular
- 9:32theologians have taught that an angel is simply a messenger.
- 9:37That's it. You pick up a Scofield Bible, that's exactly how ill-describe an
- 9:42angel. It's just a messenger.
- 9:43But they do more than just bring messages, right?
- 9:47And the scriptural evidence for that is pretty clear. like in 2 Kings 19.35,
- 9:53you have an angel that slew 185,000 Assyrians in one night. Not one message was delivered.
- 10:01Except death. Message of death. That's it. But you see what I'm saying?
- 10:05He wasn't there to warn them.
- 10:07He wasn't there to tell them to repent. He wasn't there.
- 10:11I mean, he was basically there because those Assyrians were threatening the nation of Israel.
- 10:17And as you study the Old Testament, the nation of Israel was the apple of God's eye.
- 10:22Now, God would use these other foreign nations to punish Israel.
- 10:26However, when it was in God's will for that particular nation to.
- 10:32Go to war, threaten the Israelites, do harm to the Israelites,
- 10:36then God would step in. In this case, he did with one angel.
- 10:40This is one thing I think some people don't think about. You had a single angel, one angel.
- 10:45Now that angel in 2 Kings 19 is called the angel of the Lord.
- 10:49Now that's a different topic, and we would always almost have to do a separate
- 10:54episode on it, but here's the short and brief statement on the angel of the Lord.
- 11:00The angel of the Lord is a theophany. It's an appearance of God.
- 11:05It's an appearance of, and I believe it's the Lord Jesus Christ in the Old Testament,
- 11:10and he's often called the angel of the Lord in that context.
- 11:14But here's the point. One angel.
- 11:16He specifically says an angel came and killed 185,000 Assyrians. One angel.
- 11:24You know what's interesting about that statement or that fact
- 11:27remember the bible says on when jesus christ was facing the cross he says cannot
- 11:32he goes he says he goes can i not call 12 legion of angels if he did that 12
- 11:41legion of angels i i can't remember i did the the number i think it's.
- 11:46Almost 12 000 angels something like that what's one legion yeah legion was like
- 11:5112 000 roman soldiers, I believe, or something like that, 1,200,
- 11:56I can't remember what a legion is.
- 11:58Are you looking it up? Yeah, I was curious now, now that we have to do some
- 12:02math, 4,000 to 6,000 soldiers.
- 12:04Okay, 46,000, one legion, right? And he said he would call 12 legion of angels.
- 12:10So that's 48,000, 50,000 to 60,000 angels. Yeah.
- 12:14Now think about that. If one angel can kill 185,000 men, how many can 60,000 kill?
- 12:20It's a little bit more than 185,000 Assyrians So the implication is brilliant
- 12:24The implication is crazy Jesus Christ says I could call enough angels to wipe
- 12:30out the entire population of the planet If I wanted to.
- 12:34So, you know, this lends credibility to the fact that Jesus Christ willingly laid down his life.
- 12:40Now, you know, we see it stated in Scripture that they murdered the just one,
- 12:46right? They killed Jesus Christ.
- 12:48I do believe that. But however, we can't forget the element that Jesus says,
- 12:52if I lay down my life, I lay it of myself.
- 12:55And I can, if I lay down my life, I can take it back up again.
- 12:58So Jesus Christ had the power to lay down his life.
- 13:02However, if he didn't, if they were taking him by force, now there's no doubt
- 13:06Jesus Christ could have handled it.
- 13:08But the fact of the matter is, is, you know, we're talking about angels not just being messengers.
- 13:13He could have called 12 legion of angels and wiped out the entire population of the planet Earth.
- 13:22So that just goes to show that nobody forced Jesus Christ into that position.
- 13:28Nobody forced him to go to the cross. He willingly did it. He could have prevented it.
- 13:33He could have turned the entire circumstance around to his favor, but he didn't.
- 13:38So I don't think some people, I don't think they take that into consideration,
- 13:41you know, when our Lord went to the cross, that he didn't have to.
- 13:46And he said himself, no greater love than this than a man lay down his life for his friends.
- 13:50Well, so that means the act of Christ going to the cross was purely his mercy, his grace, his love.
- 13:58Nobody could have forced him to do that. So 2 Kings 19.35, so obviously that
- 14:04angel wasn't bringing a message.
- 14:05Then you have another angel in 2 Samuel 24, verses 15 through 16,
- 14:11and this is where David basically numbered Israel and he wasn't supposed to.
- 14:17But the Bible says the angel stretched out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, killing 70,000 men.
- 14:24Again, no message, but perhaps death, right?
- 14:28Okay. And then you have, the Bible says in Hebrews 1, verse 14,
- 14:32they defined the angels as ministering spirits, ministering, servicing.
- 14:39It's not just messaging, but services.
- 14:42Matter of fact, you see angels after Jesus Christ fasted for 40 days and 40
- 14:48nights before he was tempted of the devil in the wilderness.
- 14:50The Bible says afterward, the angels came and ministered to him.
- 14:54So they weren't there to bring him a message.
- 14:58So again, just, you know, reducing an angel to a simple messenger is basically
- 15:05ignoring a lot of revelation that the Bible gives us.
- 15:09Angels do much more than just bringing messages.
- 15:14They're more than just a simple current. Yeah, they bring death.
- 15:16Yep. But just to put it in perspective, I was doing some quick math on the 185,000.
- 15:22So it's one angel that can kill the 185,000 Assyrians, right?
- 15:27Elysian is about 6,000. And I was just doing the search. That's 70,000 angels.
- 15:35And then that's, if I'm doing this right, that's like 1 billion, 110 million.
- 15:43Yeah, which that wasn't the population of the earth. time
- 15:46so it would have been even even if you're even if you would say a billion that's
- 15:51probably a big stretch there's probably in the several hundred million range
- 15:54but still one one you know 12 legion of angels there there would have been there
- 16:01wouldn't have been a single human being left on the planet yeah that's yeah it's.
- 16:06It's pretty amazing. So, yep, angels aren't, you know, they're not just messengers.
- 16:11So, again, they're more likely, and we'll show why their appearance is here
- 16:17later in the study, but the fact of the matter is, is that they're not just simply messengers.
- 16:22The most accurate depiction of an angel is that they are an appearance of something
- 16:28or a representation of something, and we'll see that a little bit later here. Cool.
- 16:33Let's move into the physical nature of angels.
- 16:37We've seen examples in the Bible where they walk among you, they can eat food,
- 16:44you can obviously feel them, they're just like they're actually there,
- 16:48but they're also spiritual. Yep.
- 16:51So the first thing that we want to establish when it comes to angels is that they're always male.
- 16:58You never see a female angel in the Bible. The closest thing is in Zechariah
- 17:04where you have two storked winged women. They have the wings of a stork.
- 17:09They're probably more than likely demonic in nature, especially when you read
- 17:14the passage here in Zechariah 5.
- 17:16But at the end of the day, every time an angel shows up in scripture,
- 17:20it always, always, always appears as a young man.
- 17:24Mark 16, 5, the angel at the tomb described as a young man.
- 17:28They were confused because they thought that, you know, even an angel,
- 17:32you know, they were looking for Jesus Christ.
- 17:34Of course, the difference was, is those men were kind of like bright and shining.
- 17:39So that was the only thing that showed them as some kind of spiritual creature.
- 17:42Acts 1, 10, the angels that That are ascending with Jesus Christ,
- 17:47you know, whenever Jesus Christ is returning back to heaven,
- 17:49the Bible just says two men in white apparel. That's what they look like.
- 17:53Again, two men, not women. And then Genesis 18.2 and Genesis 19.1,
- 17:59angels are appearing to Abraham and Lot and they're called men.
- 18:04So, so part of the problem and the reason why it's important to identify the
- 18:08fact that they're men, if you look at the Scofield reference Bible,
- 18:11there's a note claiming that angels are sexless,
- 18:14and it's contradicts the text because every time they show up,
- 18:17they show up like a human male.
- 18:19They don't look like a sexless being.
- 18:22And the reason why they do that is because in Matthew, Jesus Christ is responding
- 18:26to the Pharisees and they were talking, you know, they were challenging Jesus
- 18:30Christ with the woman whose husband died, and then she married all seven of his brothers.
- 18:35And he said, well, whose wife is she going to be?
- 18:38Jesus states, he says, he goes,
- 18:40you do err, you do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
- 18:44He goes, for they do not marry, nor are they given in marriage.
- 18:50He says the angels, but he specifically says in heaven.
- 18:55Not the angels on earth, but the angels in heaven. And he doesn't say they're
- 18:59sexless. He says they're not given into marriage.
- 19:02So they're not in those, they don't partake in those types of relationships, right?
- 19:08The problem comes in this, and the reason why Schofield put that note in is
- 19:12because he'd put it in Genesis chapter six, where the sons of God,
- 19:16he interprets those as men, but they're godly men.
- 19:22That's what he calls them. Godly men. they are not angels, and he refers back
- 19:27to Matthew as his proof text.
- 19:29The problem is, is those sons of God are listed in Job chapter 38 as being present
- 19:34with God at the creation of the universe.
- 19:38These sons of God also come in, Job 1 and Job 2, with the devil, okay?
- 19:45And every time somebody's described as a son of God in the Old Testament,
- 19:49it's always referring to angels. It has nothing to do.
- 19:52These are spiritual creatures, and they're called the sons, plural, of God.
- 19:57So that's why it's important to understand that they are male,
- 20:00which apparently they had some kind of male anatomy. They had some physical
- 20:05way of cohabitating with women, Genesis 6.
- 20:09They produced an offspring, which were giants.
- 20:13The Bible says in Genesis 6,
- 20:15yes, men of renown, but that doesn't mean they're just giants in culture.
- 20:19They were literally, physically giants.
- 20:22The Bible describes several giants in the Bible, like Og, his bedstead,
- 20:26you know, was something like almost 13 feet.
- 20:28You know, Goliath, the Bible says Goliath was the son of a giant.
- 20:33And he was over nine and a half feet tall. So when it comes down to the actual
- 20:39measurement of a giant, we're not entirely sure.
- 20:41But the average that I've heard is anywhere from 10 to 13 feet tall.
- 20:47Just based off of the text and the descriptions that it's provided.
- 20:51So that's the thing is like Bible says in Numbers 13, they were going to go
- 20:56in. Remember, they sent in the 13 spies.
- 20:59And of course, what happened was, was it 13? Anyway, but all but Caleb and Joshua,
- 21:08all the other spies came in and gave a negative report. What did they say?
- 21:12They said, we are as grasshoppers, right, in their sight.
- 21:17Well, if you are standing above a grasshopper, the average height of a male
- 21:22is anywhere between 5, 10 to 6 feet tall.
- 21:26Okay, that means you're 6 feet higher than the grasshopper. So if the average
- 21:31man is six feet tall, what would they make the average giant? About 12 feet.
- 21:37So obviously these are deductions that we have to make, right? That we have to look at.
- 21:42The scripture doesn't give you—the Bible does give you specific heights.
- 21:47But again, giants aren't all the same size, just like men are.
- 21:51So the point is this. Giants are not angels. They're the offspring of men and
- 21:56angels or women and angels. Okay.
- 21:58So anyway, they're sexless. They're not sexless. I'm sorry. It just says that.
- 22:04Angels are not sexless, right? They're not sexless. Just contradict.
- 22:07But you just reconciled that angels are male just based off of evidence that we've seen.
- 22:13And the point being, I think what we want to emphasize is that they're never,
- 22:17ever, ever, ever, ever described as female.
- 22:21There is not one single female angel mentioned in the Bible at all.
- 22:25So when you go to a Catholic church, when you go to some of these places that have, you know,
- 22:32Renaissance posters and pictures and oil paintings and stuff,
- 22:36and you see women angels or angels, women with wings, those are not the angels of the Bible.
- 22:42Makes you wonder where that comes from. I'm sure it doesn't come from anything good.
- 22:46And then, of course, you know, they're male. Another thing is,
- 22:50is angels don't ever have wings.
- 22:51So whenever you do read about the Bible, in the Bible, whenever you see an angel,
- 22:55again, they look like ordinary men.
- 22:58The Bible tells us in the book of Hebrews that we have to be careful because
- 23:03we may entertain angels unaware.
- 23:07That means that there's a possibility that you could be interacting or talking
- 23:15to an angel or run into an angel and not even be aware that they're an angel.
- 23:19Yeah, well, if they look like regular men running around, I mean,
- 23:22how do you know? Right, but if they had big giant wings, you'd be suspicious.
- 23:25It'd probably be a dead giveaway. Yeah, something. Suspicious.
- 23:28Something would tell you that this is not a normal human being,
- 23:32right? Walk away slowly. Yeah.
- 23:34Yeah. But so the point is, is that angels don't have wings.
- 23:39And then of course, people say, well, you know, I mentioned in Zechariah 5,
- 23:44verse 9, you have these storked winged women, and they're often mistaken for angels.
- 23:48And sometimes people have used as a proof text.
- 23:51Again, don't use a single text to teach an entire theology.
- 23:56You better have a little bit more biblical evidence than just one single verse.
- 24:01But if you read the passage, they're bringing them into the land of Shinar,
- 24:05and that's actually where the Tower of Babel is, and it's a future prophecy,
- 24:11possibly of something connected to the Antichrist.
- 24:14So those angels or those wicked, you know, whatever women, they're associated
- 24:19with wickedness and demons and not God's angels.
- 24:21They're not associated with the sons of God.
- 24:24And then, of course, Isaiah 6, 2 and Ezekiel 1, 6, you have seraphim and cherubim.
- 24:30They have wings, but they are not angels.
- 24:34Those are very specific creatures that have a very specific purpose.
- 24:40Matter of fact, the devil was the cherubim. He was the fifth cherub that covered.
- 24:44There was five cherubim at one point. Later on, you only see four because he lost his place.
- 24:51He was the anointed cherub that covereth, is what he was described as.
- 24:56So seraphim and cherubim are not
- 24:58angels, and angels are not seraphim and cherubim. Don't confuse the two.
- 25:02The Bible doesn't make that association, that correlation.
- 25:05It shows a distinction between seraphim, cherubim, and angels.
- 25:10One thing I do want to bring up, like in Ephesians 6, the Bible tells us that
- 25:14our warfare is a spiritual warfare, right?
- 25:17That we're fighting against principalities, and we talked about this in the Aliens podcast.
- 25:23But you know we have there's a spiritual there's
- 25:27a spiritual ecosystem out there and in
- 25:30in the bible in ephesians 6 you see almost like a hierarchical hierarchical
- 25:35that's a word hierarchical i don't know man i don't know how to talk hierarchical
- 25:40or it's hard it's that's what happens if you eat too much brisket but there's
- 25:44a hierarchy i guess of angels right or you have hierarchy of spiritual creatures,
- 25:49and it describes them as principalities and powers and spiritual wickedness in high places.
- 25:57What's interesting about that concept when you think about it is,
- 26:01you know, the spiritual wickedness in high places is always connected with idolatry and worship.
- 26:07And, you know, high places it could allude to, and again, this is a totally
- 26:12different study, a human attempt to reach these heavenly beings.
- 26:17Well, angels happen to be part of that hierarchy, and seraphim are part of that
- 26:24hierarchy, cherubim are part of that hierarchy, and then you have the only...
- 26:29Angel that you have in the Bible that's ever called an archangel is Michael.
- 26:33People go, oh, well, Gabriel is an archangel. He's never described as an archangel.
- 26:37Matter of fact, the only thing Gabriel does do is usually brings messages.
- 26:42He's the one that came to Mary and so forth and so on.
- 26:45That's why some people say, oh, you have the gift of gab, like Gabriel. Gabriel spoke.
- 26:51But Michael specifically in the book of Daniel is called the prince over Israel.
- 26:57He's, and so, and we'll get that here in just a second, but again, he's a representative.
- 27:03That's why we talk about angels being appearances or representative of something
- 27:08here on earth or something in heaven.
- 27:10So, but the point here, you know, is one, angels are always male. They're not women.
- 27:16Two, they have no wings. There's no wings associated with them.
- 27:19The only creatures that have wings are seraphim and cherubim, and they are not angels.
- 27:25Now, you spoke earlier about their tangibility, right?
- 27:29Well, they can eat human food. So Genesis 18, Abraham set before them food,
- 27:35and the Bible says they did eat.
- 27:37So they were able to eat food in front of him. Okay?
- 27:42Again, this kind of lends credence to the fact that angels can be mistaken for men.
- 27:47If you saw them, you would think they're men. And then Genesis 19,
- 27:515, the men of Sodom desired them physically, proving they appeared as biological males.
- 27:58So in their eyes, they just saw them as two men. So there's some kind of physicalness.
- 28:03Now we know in like in the book of Acts, for example, the angels actually yanked.
- 28:08I think it was Peter in Acts chapter 12, yanked him, pulls him out of prison
- 28:13or sends him out of the prison.
- 28:15I hope I'm not getting confused with Barnabas and Paul.
- 28:20Smote him on the side. Smote him, like he hit him, like get up.
- 28:23Yeah, kicked him or moved him or whatever.
- 28:24But obviously he physically, well, obviously if an angel could kill 185,000
- 28:29Assyrians, they can affect human physical, biological life.
- 28:33There's some kind of a physicality. And it also shot him with Lot,
- 28:37right? And his daughters, didn't he physically pull them out?
- 28:40Physically yanked them out of Lot, exactly.
- 28:44But yeah, so that's the thing about the physical nature and the gender of angels
- 28:48is one, they're always male.
- 28:50They don't have wings. And yes, there's some kind of a physicality to them,
- 28:54which when we get into another episode, we're going to talk about the interdimensionality
- 29:01or that nature of angels.
- 29:04So, you know, we talked about aliens and things like that, that we believe they're
- 29:08interdimensional, intergalactic.
- 29:11Yeah. So they can go into this fourth dimension, whatever this fourth dimension is, these portals.
- 29:17So that means they could be physical, actual creatures, but they have a spiritual
- 29:22aspect as far as dimensions are concerned.
- 29:26That's why they can appear and then all of a sudden they're not there anymore. Right.
- 29:30They're stepping in and out somehow. Now they have control of where,
- 29:34I don't know, if it's a portal or they can just do it on command. That's...
- 29:40They can appear, appear, disappear, so forth and so on. Again,
- 29:44you know, I haven't really finished the study around it, and maybe one day we can do an episode.
- 29:50But, you know, I believe the fourth dimension is the spiritual dimension.
- 29:55So this is where the interesting similarities between the odd things that we see.
- 30:00We talked about this in, I think it was 35, episode 35, the aliens thing that
- 30:06we did. that they have similar behaviors.
- 30:10Yeah. That they basically defy physics, right?
- 30:14They can move at rapid speeds. They can appear, disappear, go in water, go out of water.
- 30:20I mean, things that physical objects just cannot do.
- 30:24Human beings do not, we don't possess that kind of, you know,
- 30:28technology, whether it's a
- 30:29technology or it's a interdimensional aspect to whatever those things are.
- 30:37Their capabilities, innate capabilities.
- 30:39Yeah. Anyway, so I don't want to get off into... Right. So what the point is,
- 30:43is there's a tangible nature to them.
- 30:46So they're physical in some form, but they can obviously step in and out of
- 30:51the spiritual dimension. So...
- 30:55Definitely weird stuff. Right. All right. So you mentioned the theophany. Am I saying that right?
- 31:03Yeah. Where the act is representative of their appearance of God.
- 31:07They're not just a messenger. We covered that part.
- 31:10So there's something called the doctrine of appearances. Right.
- 31:14And this is kind of referring back to what are angels.
- 31:18Angels, the definition is an appearance.
- 31:20An angel isn't a messenger. The most accurate definition, because of what you
- 31:25observe in Scripture, is that they are spiritual counterparts of other things.
- 31:31So, I mentioned theophany, which just simply means the appearance of God.
- 31:36Old Testament, the Bible tells us in John 4, God's a spirit,
- 31:40you know, and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and truth.
- 31:43The Bible also says God, because he is a spirit, Jesus said in John 3 to Nicodemus,
- 31:49no man has seen the Father at any time.
- 31:52But the son of man, which is in heaven. So he's talking to Nicodemus,
- 31:56he's in heaven, but he says that no man has seen the father.
- 32:00But then later on, Jesus Christ reveals to his disciples. He goes,
- 32:03well, if you've seen me, you've seen the father.
- 32:06So, which means that Jesus Christ is an appearance of God in incarnate form
- 32:13here on earth whenever he was there.
- 32:15So, again, he's called the Son of God, but also, you know, the Bible says in
- 32:21Exodus chapter 3, verses 2 through 14,
- 32:24the Bible says the angel of the Lord, specifically when you see L-O-R-D capitalized,
- 32:30that's the Tetragrammaton.
- 32:31That's Yahweh, the angel of Yahweh, the angel of God. I'm sorry, Yahweh. Hello.
- 32:39Smack my face. Jehovah, the angel of Jehovah. I can't believe you used that
- 32:43word. Yeah, we need to do an episode on Yahweh, actually.
- 32:47Please disregard. Exactly. Disregard that. This is what AI edit is for.
- 32:52But anyway, Exodus chapter 3, you see this burning bush, right?
- 32:57And the Lord speaks to Moses out of the burning bush.
- 33:02And it says that the angel of the Lord appeared in the bush,
- 33:06yet speaks as God, says, I am that I am. I am the God of thy father.
- 33:12So the angel is a visible appearance of the invisible God.
- 33:17No man has seen the father. So the angel of Jehovah is an appearance of Jehovah
- 33:24on earth. He's a representative in representative form, okay?
- 33:28Then here's a weird statement. This is where there's this weird doctrine.
- 33:33People go, oh, you know, my guardian angel, my guardian angel.
- 33:36Well, in Matthew 18.10, Jesus starts talking about children,
- 33:41and he says, their angels do always behold the face of my father.
- 33:47He says their angels, those children. So that means that there are angelic spiritual
- 33:54representatives in heaven before God that are beholding the face of God,
- 34:01but they are representative of those children here on earth. So it's vice versa.
- 34:06Yeah, God is seeing those children through their angels in heaven.
- 34:10That is pretty fascinating. Yep. I never thought of that.
- 34:14So their spiritual counterparts are representatives of the children in heaven.
- 34:18They're not earthly guardians. They're not guardian angels. They're representatives.
- 34:22They're not guarding them or protecting them. Yeah. One of the explanations
- 34:26I saw in doing some of this study is that angels,
- 34:31think of angels as God's universal television set where he can see everything
- 34:37on earth through his angels.
- 34:40Slap me if I'm wrong, but this wouldn't have any connection to omnipresence.
- 34:44It's just him having visibility.
- 34:47Well, this might describe part of the nature of his omnipresence.
- 34:52Part of the reason why God sees everything. Because the eyes of the Lord are in every place.
- 34:56Yeah, part of the reason he says that, because you remember in Job 1 and Job
- 34:592, the Bible says, or the Lord says there in the Bible in Job 1 and 2,
- 35:04he asks Satan, the devil, he goes, where have you come?
- 35:08He goes from walking down in and out of the earth, right?
- 35:14But remember, the Bible says, and the sons of God came in with him.
- 35:19So what if there's some kind of a circuit or a circuit of responsibility or
- 35:24whatever it is that when God wants to see something, he sends an angel down
- 35:29to see and spy what's going on?
- 35:31Because you see that, for example, at Sodom and Gomorrah.
- 35:34He sent his angel down to see what was going on.
- 35:38So again, this kind of builds on that doctrine that angels are more an appearance
- 35:46or a representation of something more than just a simple messenger,
- 35:50that they've served this function where,
- 35:53again, Matthew 18.10 is probably the clearest explanation for it,
- 35:57but their angels do always behold the face of my Father.
- 36:00What else does it mean except that what it's saying? that their angels are looking
- 36:06at the father and the father is looking at those angels and those angels are
- 36:11representative of those children on earth.
- 36:14How else do you explain it? So again, that's why they're an appearance, not simply a messenger.
- 36:20Here's another thing. In Daniel chapter 10, you had Daniel praying, right?
- 36:25And this angel shows up. Okay. He describes him.
- 36:30He even describes this other group are called the watchers, which,
- 36:34you know, we'll have to talk about later, but, uh, and it could be another spiritual
- 36:38category, but the point is, is this angel comes up and tells him, he said, Hey, look,
- 36:43Michael would have showed up, but he was hindered by the Prince of Persia.
- 36:49So here's an angel, the archangel Michael, and he says, he is your prince.
- 36:55Remember Ephesians chapter six, we're fighting a spiritual warfare.
- 37:01Principalities and powers and spiritual wickedness and high places.
- 37:05Well, what's a principality?
- 37:07Have you ever thought of it this way? You work in a city or you go to do business
- 37:12in a city, you have a municipality.
- 37:14So for government. Yeah, it's an area of responsibility or sovereignship or,
- 37:20you know, or control or some kind of a political organization, right?
- 37:25But now you have it in the spiritual sense. A prince is over a principality. You see what I mean?
- 37:32And you have this prince of Persia in Daniel chapter 10, where he says the prince
- 37:39of Persia and prince of Greece. It's what he says in verses 13 and 20 in Daniel chapter 10.
- 37:44So you have a prince who's a spiritual representative of Persia.
- 37:49And then you have a prince of
- 37:50Greece, who again is a spiritual representative of the nation of Greece.
- 37:56And then you have a prince of Israel, which is the archangel Michael.
- 38:00You see what I mean? And Michael was in some kind of spiritual conflict where
- 38:06the prince of Persia had hindered him from coming to Daniel.
- 38:09Now think about that That's You know what that reveals to us That the nations
- 38:15of this earth Have spiritual representatives In the spiritual dimension In the spiritual world.
- 38:22So that means Iran, Afghanistan, Persia. I mean, everybody. I'm talking about every nation.
- 38:29I'm talking about France, Germany, Italy, Colombia, Mexico.
- 38:35As a nation, you have angels that are represented. Yeah, apparently there is
- 38:38a spiritual representative for every nation on this planet, which tells me that
- 38:45the battles we see are not just at the UN.
- 38:48Those aren't the debates that we should be concerned about. It's not just the physical conflicts.
- 38:52There is a spiritual war and conflict that involves every nation on this planet.
- 38:58So those spiritual representatives, again, spiritual wickedness in high places.
- 39:04You know, again, if we were just to kind of make a logical deduction here,
- 39:08if every single nation on earth has a spiritual representative and those spiritual
- 39:14representative are actively engaged in some kind of conflict or battle with each other,
- 39:19that tells you there's much more going on than just the things that we see on CNN or ABC or Fox News.
- 39:26It's not just the geopolitical stuff that's going on. There is a spiritual warfare.
- 39:31Why does that make 2 Corinthians 4 makes so much sense?
- 39:36In whom the God of this world, right, hath blinded the minds of them that believe
- 39:42not the gospel, unless they, you know, believe the glorious lie of the gospel of Christ, right?
- 39:47But here, remember what the devil said to Jesus Christ when he was being tempted in Matthew 4, Luke 4?
- 39:52One of the things he showed him, he showed him on a high mountain,
- 39:57he showed him all the kingdoms at a moment.
- 40:01That means it was a spiritual vision of all the kingdoms of the world.
- 40:07And he said, these are mine.
- 40:09The devil said, these are mine and I can He says, they were delivered to me.
- 40:14They were given to me. I have right ownership of them. He's the God of this world.
- 40:19Now, what's funny is there's this idiot, James White, who's a Bible corrector
- 40:23that says the God of this world, he says, that's actually not Satan.
- 40:28That's actually referring to Jesus Christ because they don't believe in a rapture.
- 40:31They think we're living in the millennium.
- 40:33These people are idiots anyway. But the point being is this.
- 40:36You had the devil that said, these nations were given to me.
- 40:40They belong to me. I have ownership of them. I have decisive power over them. I can make a decision.
- 40:46I can give you these kingdoms if you bow down and worship me.
- 40:49Now, Jesus didn't rebuke him and say, you're a liar, Satan.
- 40:53I'm the prince of princes. I'm the king of kings. I'm the Lord of lords.
- 40:57These are all my kingdoms. He didn't say that.
- 40:59He never rebuked or corrected the devil. So that means that the devil is indeed
- 41:04actually the God of this world right now. He's in power.
- 41:08These kingdoms somehow belong to the devil. Now, here's another thing going
- 41:13back to the appearance doctrine.
- 41:16How is it possible that he showed Jesus Christ all the kingdoms of the world
- 41:20at a moment's notice, at a moment's time?
- 41:23Unless each one of those princes, those angels, were representatives of those
- 41:31nations, and that's how he had access to view them all at once.
- 41:35Just like the angels, again, are appearances or representatives of something, right?
- 41:42So you see that in Daniel, they represent earthly nations.
- 41:47But then you also have in Revelation chapter 1 and verse 20,
- 41:50the Bible says that the stars are seven stars that are connected with the seven
- 41:58churches in Revelations 1, 2, and 3.
- 42:01Those seven churches, he says, those seven stars are the angels of those churches.
- 42:07And he says they have a candle, and those candles can be put out that little
- 42:13bit of light that they have, which means that every church, and this is the implication,
- 42:19is that every church has a representative angel before God's face.
- 42:24So you see why the doctrine of the appearances, that an angel is actually an
- 42:29appearance, is probably more
- 42:31doctrinally accurate than just simply stating that they're messengers.
- 42:34So you're saying that every local church has a representative?
- 42:37If the pattern we see in Revelation 1.20 sticks, right?
- 42:42When you look at Revelation again, he says those angels are representatives
- 42:48of those seven churches.
- 42:49So you have the angel of Thyatira, you have the angel of Smyrna,
- 42:53you have the angel of Philadelphia, you have the angel of Laodicea,
- 42:57and so forth and so on. Yeah, that's wild.
- 43:00So the doctrine of appearances just further defines and clarifies what an angel
- 43:08doctrinally is. They're an appearance.
- 43:11That's exactly what they are for all intents and purposes.
- 43:13They're representations of things on earth before God in heaven.
- 43:18I guess technically speaking, is this correct? They're kind of like transmitters.
- 43:23I mean, that's why I was saying that earlier that they're almost like,
- 43:26you know, God's television set or they're God's drones here on earth.
- 43:31Well, I kind of think of like a network operations center. Well,
- 43:35they might be a receiver because if God is beholding the face of the angels. It's bi-directional.
- 43:43I don't know. Yeah. I don't know.
- 43:45Yeah. The nature of their appearance and their representation is kind of a mystery.
- 43:54All I'm saying is that's what the Bible says. So, if it says that those children
- 44:00have angels in heaven and God is beholding their faces, the angels,
- 44:06but those angels are connected to those children.
- 44:08Yeah, so God's seeing the children's faces through those angels,
- 44:12their angels. I want you to think about something else in light of that.
- 44:16Think about the implication that abortion has when you consider that fact that
- 44:22each angel, each child on earth has a representative angel that faces God.
- 44:29And then they're torn apart and destroyed in the mother's womb.
- 44:33God sees that. Remember what God said? He says it'd be better if a millstone
- 44:37be held, you know, wrapped around your neck and you're dropped into the deepest part of the ocean.
- 44:43For offending one of these little children.
- 44:46Anyway, so that's the point is like, again, an angel isn't just simply a messenger.
- 44:53I think that's just a simplistic reduction of what people think an angel is.
- 44:57They're much more than that. They're spiritual appearances or counterparts of
- 45:02things in heaven and on earth.
- 45:04And they can be pretty aggressive when God needs them to be,
- 45:07when killing the Syrian army or doing what they need to do. Yeah,
- 45:10I mean, the fact that they can take life, you know, they do send messages,
- 45:15obviously. You have the angel of death, right?
- 45:18You have the angel. Well, he's called the angel of the Lord in the book of Exodus
- 45:24where he kills the firstborn.
- 45:25Yeah, and then you have— And it could be, is it the angel of death?
- 45:28Isn't it also with David as well? There was a plague.
- 45:33Right. That was the one that killed 70,000 men. That's the 70,000. Okay.
- 45:36Yeah, okay. I don't remember if it's—because I think we've referred to it as
- 45:41the death angel, but I'm trying to see if there's anything.
- 45:45Let's see The terminology of the angel of death Yeah,
- 45:50I just think we associate it with The fact that in Exodus The angel of the Lord
- 45:55Exodus talks about, you know, appeared to him in a flame of fire Hold on, let's see,
- 46:00firstborn The first image that pops up when I'm looking Looking at the angel
- 46:05of death is An angel who is a woman with wings Of course Yeah Why wouldn't it?
- 46:11The destroyer? Is that what he's described?
- 46:15There's a verse in Exodus 12, 23, For the Lord will pass through to smite the
- 46:19Egyptians. Yeah. And when he sees the blood. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking of.
- 46:22Yeah. He says he'll pass over the door and not suffer the destroyer.
- 46:27And that destroyer is the angel of the Lord that appears and kills the firstborn.
- 46:31Of every child. So that's the night of Passover. And what he does is he passes
- 46:35over every house that has the blood on the lentils of the door.
- 46:40So, you know, we think of angel of death and it's usually drawn from Exodus
- 46:4612 from the death of the firstborn, but he's called the destroyer there.
- 46:50But again, he's also called the angel of the L-O-R-D, capital L-O-R-D, which is Jehovah.
- 46:55So there is a good book on The Angel of the Lord written by Dr. Lawrence Vance.
- 47:01It's a small booklet you can get. I think you can get it.
- 47:04If you look it up online, you might be, I don't know if it's on Amazon or not,
- 47:07but it's just called The Angel of the Lord by Dr. Lawrence Vance.
- 47:10Maybe we could put it in the show notes or something or link it in the show
- 47:13notes. But that's a great book on the study. And what he does is just runs the verses.
- 47:17He runs all the passages that have the angel of the capital L-O-R-D on it.
- 47:22And you'll see that, and his conclusion is that it's Jesus Christ.
- 47:27And because Jesus Christ, the Bible says in Hebrews chapter one,
- 47:32he is the express image of God, right?
- 47:35That would be probably a good podcast to do too. If you think about it is that
- 47:40we lost the image of God after the fall.
- 47:43All men are created after the image of Adam. We regain the image of God when
- 47:48we get saved because we received Jesus Christ as our savior.
- 47:52We now have the image of God. He is the express image of God, Hebrews chapter 1.
- 47:58So anyway, that's another thought, but yeah, so, so really what it boils down
- 48:04to the nature of angels is, you know, the fact that angels are not just simple messengers.
- 48:09They do much more than just bring messages.
- 48:12They are male. They have no wings. They can interact with human beings and people
- 48:19would actually think they're dealing with a human being.
- 48:21Now there's stories that we've heard. I know in our, in some of our missions
- 48:25conferences of people that.
- 48:29Saw some kind of angel or something like an angel or spiritual beings.
- 48:34Like, for example, brother Matt Allen, I believe, and I think it was John Allen,
- 48:39his dad, who was telling the story, but I can't remember if it was Matt or John
- 48:43Allen that one of their compounds was being attacked.
- 48:47And the men, one of the men that attacked the village that they were at,
- 48:52at night, it was late at night, and they were attacking the village.
- 48:55The women were not, oh, that's right, I think it was John Allen,
- 48:58his wife and some of the women were defenseless and they were hiding inside one of the houses.
- 49:04And, you know, there was nothing to stop the men from breaking the houses.
- 49:08What had happened is the men left that house alone.
- 49:11And I think it was years later that John Allen led one of those men that came
- 49:16that night to attack the village, led him to the Lord.
- 49:20And he asked him and he found out that he was one of the men that attacked that
- 49:23night. He says, you know, why didn't you attack this house? It was defenseless.
- 49:27There was women in it, kids and stuff. And he says, he goes,
- 49:30oh, because it was guarded. He says, what do you mean by guarded?
- 49:33And he says, there was, there was
- 49:35large men all in white, dressed in white surrounding the house. Right. So.
- 49:41Is that the case? Maybe it is. Maybe God used angels that night to protect that household.
- 49:47There was another brother years ago. I think it was in, I want to say it might have been Romania.
- 49:54There's one in the Middle East because I remember there was a similar story.
- 49:58Okay. It might have been, it might be what I'm thinking of, but where they were
- 50:02going down a back alley and they were afraid, you know, because it was some
- 50:07unscrupulous men there that could have attacked them.
- 50:10And they said for some reason, I can't remember if he said they saw them.
- 50:15He said that these two guys just showed up.
- 50:18And were kind of like escorting them. They were escorting them through this
- 50:22crowd, what appeared to be a pretty violent, roughed up crowd.
- 50:27They were arguing with each other.
- 50:28And he was saying that these two men, they're big men, and they escorted them
- 50:33through this alleyway or something like that.
- 50:36And this huge group just stopped what they were doing and divided.
- 50:39Yeah. And they walked through, walked them all the way up to the door to where
- 50:43this brother was staying.
- 50:45And as soon as that brother opened the door, he said that he turned around.
- 50:49Those guys weren't there. They weren't there, right. And he asked the guys,
- 50:52like, did you see the guys that were with me?
- 50:54And the guys were like, no, like, what are you even doing here?
- 50:56You shouldn't be out, you know, something to that effect.
- 50:58But, you know, that was his personal testimony. I remember he was telling that they were there. Sure.
- 51:03Clear as day, physical. And it's, again, very possible, right?
- 51:07I mean, the Lord, the Bible does say in Hebrews, I think it's 13,
- 51:10that, you know, be careful that, you know, that we entertained angels unaware,
- 51:15you know, that there are, again, we may interact with...
- 51:20These creatures and may not even know it. Right. So there's a story about, I'm sure, you know.
- 51:26George Washington and before George Washington became, you know,
- 51:30general over the Continental Army, he used to engage in a lot of the Indian
- 51:35American wars, right. The American Indian wars.
- 51:37And, uh, he was a captain or Lieutenant or something, but in one of those battles,
- 51:42his horse got shot up from underneath him.
- 51:46And, uh, you know, those gunfire all around these, you know,
- 51:49there was these Indians everywhere that had surrounded them.
- 51:52After the battle, he had actually looked at his jacket, his coat,
- 51:56and there was bullet holes through his coat that should have hit him, but never did.
- 52:01And it wasn't until years later that one of those Indians, I think he'd be,
- 52:06you know, was part of a peace treaty with America at the time,
- 52:09finally met George Washington years later.
- 52:11I think, I don't know if George Washington was president or not,
- 52:14but it was years after this battle.
- 52:16And this Indian warrior was now an old Indian man.
- 52:21And he was talking to George Washington. He says, I wanted to meet the man who
- 52:25the great spirit protected on that day of battle. And he said, what do you mean?
- 52:30And he's talking about, he was describing the same battle where all these bullets
- 52:33are flying, George Washington should have gotten hit.
- 52:36And he says, I had some of my best marksmen aiming their rifles at you at a dead pace.
- 52:45They should have hit you. There was at least, I can't remember what he said, 12 guns on them.
- 52:50Some ridiculous number of guns were pointed directly at George Washington.
- 52:55And he says, we could not hit you.
- 52:58And he says there was these white.
- 53:01You know, these men all in white surrounding him, protecting him.
- 53:05He says these, these white spirits or something like that, the way he described it.
- 53:08And so it's the, and so he said, that's why he wanted to meet the man that they couldn't kill.
- 53:14And so, you know, again, whether or not that's accurate or true, I don't know.
- 53:18All I know is that it's a historical record. It's part of a testimony that,
- 53:22that you can find easily.
- 53:24But the point is, is that again, it's just lends to that mysterious nature of
- 53:28angels that they're more than just messengers, obviously.
- 53:32Is there a reason why George Washington was protected?
- 53:36I don't know. It could go back to the prince of Egypt, the prince of Grisha,
- 53:41the prince of Persia, the prince of Israel.
- 53:43There was a prince of America at that time.
- 53:46And America, even though we don't see America explicitly stated in the scripture,
- 53:51America obviously played a huge part in the distribution of the Bible,
- 53:56the great missionary movements of the 1800s, the 1700s, the freedom that our
- 54:01country provided, the place of respite for the nation of Israel and the Jews
- 54:06that were being persecuted in Europe and so forth.
- 54:08And of course, it was Baptists that had established a place of rest and refuge
- 54:14for Jews that were escaping that type of persecution in Europe.
- 54:18Does that mean God used an angel to protect some of those? I don't know.
- 54:22It could be. There's some definitely, you and I are both history buffs,
- 54:26and there's some miraculous stories regarding the Revolutionary War.
- 54:31And of course, when we look at in Scripture, that time frame falls under the
- 54:37Philadelphian church age.
- 54:38The Philadelphian church age, when you study church history,
- 54:42was the greatest missionary and evangelical movement of the church,
- 54:47the body of Christ, in our generation, in any of our generations, in 10 generations.
- 54:53In 2,000 years of church history, that was the most prominent time frame.
- 54:57That's when the King James Bible was published. That's when we had some of the
- 55:00greatest missionary societies that were ever created.
- 55:05That's where you had the Constitution and the first free republic,
- 55:10the first free government that had ever existed in the history of mankind appeared during that time.
- 55:15So the Philadelphia and Church Age was a very significant time in history.
- 55:21So is it possible that God used an angel to protect George Washington during
- 55:26that time? Very possible. Very possible.
- 55:29So, again, very interesting, right, when it comes down to angels.
- 55:33And really, the last part is something we kind of already touched on in just
- 55:38a couple minutes here, but their creation and abode.
- 55:41The Bible says that angels are created creatures, Colossians 1.16,
- 55:45and the sons of God were there before at the creation of the universe.
- 55:50They were there. Job chapter 38 describes them. Why is that important?
- 55:54Because JWs teach that Jesus Christ is the Archangel Michael.
- 56:01Archangel Michael is a created creature. Jesus Christ, according to them,
- 56:06and their conclusion is that Jesus Christ, therefore, is created.
- 56:09But all things were created by him, Jesus Christ, John 1, Colossians 1,
- 56:14including angels. So Jesus Christ, if angels are created, he's not an angel,
- 56:19right? He's not an angel in that respect.
- 56:22So the created, Matthew 22, 30, which is that verse that Schofield misinterpreted
- 56:28as them being sexless because they're not given into marriage,
- 56:31but it says in heaven, the angels which are in heaven.
- 56:34So, they're angels. That's their primary abode.
- 56:38Again, they possibly traverse that, you know, going from heaven to earth,
- 56:44possibly through interdimensional portals.
- 56:46You know, again, we don't know. I say that because I'm sure there's going to
- 56:51be some listeners and think that we're out of our mind when we say that,
- 56:54but I think that's- We're definitely out of our minds.
- 56:56Yeah, we'll definitely, I think it's worth diving into that topic at some point in the future.
- 57:02You know, we may talk about it. But the point is, is their abode is in heaven.
- 57:06That's where their home is.
- 57:07Interesting enough, the Bible says in Jude that there are angels that left their first estate.
- 57:13So number one, that first estate could be heaven. Or two, their first estate
- 57:18was their spiritual nature. I don't know.
- 57:21But remember, we believe they're tangible at some point. But they cohabitated
- 57:26with women and they lost that.
- 57:29Psalm 82 talks about that you're going to die like men. You're the prince.
- 57:33You're the sons of God, basically.
- 57:35Congregation, he judges among the gods. He calls them God's little g in Psalm 82.
- 57:41But he says you're going to die like men. Well, guess what? They died like men, the flood.
- 57:45So, they left their first estate. And the Bible says in Peter and Jude that
- 57:50they're now reserved in outer darkness.
- 57:55Somewhere waiting to be released at a certain time.
- 57:58Possibly, right. And again, there's not a ton of scripture on it.
- 58:05So, we have to just take bits and pieces from what the Bible reveals to us about that, right?
- 58:10So, obviously, there's supernatural capabilities.
- 58:13Acts 12, 7, and 10, you know, they come in there and smoke, you know, Peter on the side.
- 58:18They can enter in, which means they can enter in locked prisons,
- 58:21open iron gates physically, right?
- 58:24So they're capable, in Daniel 9, 21, the Bible says that they're able to fly
- 58:29swiftly, so rapid travel, you know, in appearance all of a sudden.
- 58:34So again, that's probably, you
- 58:37know, pointing to some kind of interdimensionality of travel method. it.
- 58:42I don't know yet, but they can move very fast.
- 58:45They have physical capability. They can eat food. They can physically contact
- 58:49or make contact with human beings.
- 58:51They can physically have relationships and produce children.
- 58:56Okay. So angels are very interesting, but in the Bible, this,
- 59:00so just what we covered is kind of a high level, basic doctrine about angels, their nature.
- 59:08What they are, what their ministry, their role is, and even some misconceptions about angels.
- 59:14Yeah, I mean, the capabilities part's pretty interesting. I mean,
- 59:17they're kind of like supermen. Yeah.
- 59:19I mean, if you think about it, what they can do, the people they can kill in a single night.
- 59:24Right. You know, 70,000, 185,000. And here's the thing. Here's the scary thing.
- 59:29Those same angels, the Bible says in book of Revelation 12, that a third of
- 59:34them fall and follow Satan.
- 59:37So, he's got those types of creatures that are siding with him.
- 59:41Yeah, that's pretty scary.
- 59:43Right. Makes you think, you know, we don't see the spiritual warfare. Right.
- 59:47This whole other dimension when that veil's pulled back, what we would see would—
- 59:51And what we described, remember last episode about the aliens,
- 59:55is that Elisha's servant, that veil was pulled back. Right.
- 59:59And he saw all those chariots of fire, you know, ascending on the mountain. Spiritual horses.
- 1:00:05So there's spiritual warfare.
- 1:00:08There's a spiritual dimension that, again, we probably have no concept.
- 1:00:16The only thing we know of is what the Bible reveals to us. Very little.
- 1:00:20But I think it's important to understand that what the Bible does reveal to
- 1:00:23us, that we pay attention to it so that we don't get deceived into some of this
- 1:00:28false doctrine, this mythology out there, popular culture, right?
- 1:00:32That's not our final authority. The Bible is our final authority.
- 1:00:35So don't let the Bible get washed away in the superstition and that you reject
- 1:00:42what it's saying and start adopting, you know,
- 1:00:45angels have wings and these little babies, cherubim and women with wings and all this stuff.
- 1:00:51And these are really angels. Yeah, playing a harp and some clouds somewhere.
- 1:00:55Because that tells you right there that obviously there is a demonic doctrine
- 1:01:00and heresy behind that stuff. So don't be deceived.
- 1:01:06Yep. Do not be deceived. All right, so that's Angels. We're just getting started.
- 1:01:11So I think we have a lot more to look forward to in some of the upcoming episodes that we're doing.
- 1:01:17We're going to probably dig in deeper into some areas.
- 1:01:20We'll do a few more episodes around Angels.
- 1:01:24Eventually we'll get to some of the influence in this generation, the interest in aliens.
- 1:01:31Opinions we'll do a little bit deeper dive into that
- 1:01:34topic just because i believe there's a direct correlation
- 1:01:37in connection with them so we'll go ahead
