- 0:01Speaker 1: Joe Ryan looked pretty darn good in the All Star
- 0:04Speaker 1: Game on Tuesday night. The Twins. Ace had a solid
- 0:08Speaker 1: bottom of the fourth inning for the American League. He
- 0:11Speaker 1: faced the heart of the National League order after giving
- 0:14Speaker 1: up a leadoff single to the Mets Juan Soto. He
- 0:16Speaker 1: then struck out the Dodgers Freddie Freeman, struck out the
- 0:19Speaker 1: Nationals cj Abrams, and then got LA's Max Munsey to
- 0:23Speaker 1: pop out to shallow center to end the inning. Every
- 0:27Speaker 1: American League pitcher did well against the National League last
- 0:30Speaker 1: night to be fair in a shoutout, but six swings
- 0:32Speaker 1: and misses and sixteen pitches for Ryan. Pretty efficient and
- 0:35Speaker 1: quick inning despite the little blip at the beginning, But
- 0:38Speaker 1: a solid night for him in Philadelphia last night. This
- 0:42Speaker 1: is Twin City's Territory You're Minnesota Twins podcast here on
- 0:46Speaker 1: the Foul Territory Network. I am Zach Pierce, editor of
- 0:49Speaker 1: The Athletic. I will be joined shortly by Dan Hayes,
- 0:51Speaker 1: the Athletics, Minnesota Twins beat writer, and Tyler Duffy, longtime
- 0:54Speaker 1: Major leaguer and former Minnesota Twin. With the Twins off
- 0:58Speaker 1: this week because of the All Star break, we decided
- 1:00Speaker 1: to do a mail bag show which we taped before
- 1:03Speaker 1: the All Star Game, so no talk about Joe Ryan's
- 1:06Speaker 1: night on Tuesday. We might have a little more to
- 1:08Speaker 1: say about that on Friday when we come back to
- 1:10Speaker 1: preview the second half of the season, but today we
- 1:13Speaker 1: thought it was a good chance to answer your questions.
- 1:16Speaker 1: We do answer one about Joe Ryan and what it
- 1:17Speaker 1: would take for the Twins to keep him around long term.
- 1:21Speaker 1: We also had some great conversation with Tyler Duffy about
- 1:24Speaker 1: a couple behind the scenes clubhouse things, one about what
- 1:28Speaker 1: it was like playing with Josh Donaldson during that era,
- 1:31Speaker 1: and also what happened exactly that night in twenty twenty
- 1:35Speaker 1: one when Tyler Duffy found himself being asked to throw
- 1:39Speaker 1: at the White Sox your mean Mercedes during an ongoing kerfluffle,
- 1:45Speaker 1: if you will, between those teams. So some great stuff.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Thank you to everybody who put in some questions. I
- 1:51Speaker 1: really appreciate it. We tried to answer as many as
- 1:53Speaker 1: we could in the time that we had together, and
- 1:56Speaker 1: also thank you so much for the great response for
- 1:58Speaker 1: the last episode. It was our most popular episode yet,
- 2:02Speaker 1: so that was awesome to see and we hope you
- 2:04Speaker 1: like this one as well. If you like what you hear,

- 2:14Speaker 1: you to subscribe and follow, and we really appreciate your
- 2:18Speaker 1: support with that. Without any further ado, here's our mailbag show.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Hope you enjoy. Okay, we are back. It is mail
- 2:29Speaker 1: bag time. We first said we were going to do
- 2:31Speaker 1: this a few weeks ago, then we got sidetracked with
- 2:34Speaker 1: some news. But it's the off week, it's All star week,
- 2:37Speaker 1: it's perfect time for it. So here we go. We're
- 2:40Speaker 1: gonna we thank you for everybody who participated, who dropped
- 2:43Speaker 1: a question in wherever we put out the call. We
- 2:47Speaker 1: grabbed about six or seven of them here to get
- 2:49Speaker 1: through today. So we'll get started with the topic that
- 2:52Speaker 1: we've already talked about quite a bit this week with
- 2:54Speaker 1: the Twins drafting von Lackey on Saturday. But this one
- 2:57Speaker 1: comes to us X from Jennifer on X. It says,
- 3:02Speaker 1: what are the Twins going to do with all their catchers?
- 3:07Speaker 1: They have quite a few. Dan's the what's the word there?
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah, they do They do have a few, and Jennifer
- 3:15Speaker 2: asking that question the day before they drafted to new
- 3:18Speaker 2: catchers with Von Lackey and Carson Tini. But certainly an
- 3:22Speaker 2: interesting question because with Ryan Jeffers back, what do you
- 3:25Speaker 2: do with Alex Jackson? Alex Jackson is out of options
- 3:28Speaker 2: and for right now they're running with three catchers.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Alex Jackson is making one point three to five million dollars.
- 3:37Speaker 2: He has been outstanding as a backup coming in when
- 3:41Speaker 2: Jeffers went down with the broken hamte bone in May.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I think, yeah, you know, between Karattini, who was just
- 3:50Speaker 2: fantastic and probably one of their best hitters in June
- 3:53Speaker 2: and July, it certainly makes a dilemma for now they're
- 3:59Speaker 2: running with I don't know. At some point you wonder
- 4:02Speaker 2: if they would expose Alex Jackson to waivers. I don't
- 4:05Speaker 2: think he'd clear, So does that mean maybe they trade
- 4:09Speaker 2: one of these guys? You know, it's it's interesting to
- 4:12Speaker 2: think about that. There's no question Ryan Jeffers certainly being
- 4:16Speaker 2: a free agent after this year if the Twins were
- 4:18Speaker 2: in a much worse spot where they're losing and it's
- 4:21Speaker 2: clear that they needed to be sellers, Jeffers would be
- 4:23Speaker 2: at the top of the list of guys they would
- 4:25Speaker 2: be looking at moving But we saw it over the weekend.
- 4:27Speaker 2: He came back and made an instant impact. He had
- 4:30Speaker 2: to go ahead double on Sunday. You know, Jeffers is
- 4:32Speaker 2: really good at the abs, although, man, he flubbed one
- 4:35Speaker 2: of the abs challenges in his few chances over the weekend,
- 4:39Speaker 2: so he's a little rusty there. But you know, if
- 4:42Speaker 2: you think about him, and it's like, man, if they
- 4:44Speaker 2: traded him, maybe they could get some real relief help.
- 4:48Speaker 2: But look, Ryan, Jeffers is clearly your best catcher, and
- 4:52Speaker 2: I don't think they want to go down that road
- 4:54Speaker 2: and start.
- 4:55Speaker 3: You know, they they like what they have. I you know,
- 4:58Speaker 3: sometimes you have.
- 4:59Speaker 2: To make aids that are difficult and move on from guys.
- 5:04Speaker 2: If the Twins have a rough stretch out of the break,
- 5:07Speaker 2: maybe they do trade him, But I just don't anticipate
- 5:10Speaker 2: them being that far out of the picture where they
- 5:12Speaker 2: raise the white flag and trade him again. If you do,
- 5:18Speaker 2: it's going to be getting major league pieces back, something
- 5:21Speaker 2: they think can help them now. But maybe they run
- 5:23Speaker 2: with this for a little while. Alex Jackson is fast enough.
- 5:27Speaker 2: He's played outfield in his career, he's played third base,
- 5:31Speaker 2: so the thirteenth spot on the position player side, especially
- 5:35Speaker 2: now we have twenty six man rosters, you can hide
- 5:38Speaker 2: guys for a while. Kyler Fedco at the end was
- 5:40Speaker 2: essentially just pinch running. You know, Jackson can move around,
- 5:43Speaker 2: play outfield, third base. I don't think we'll see him
- 5:46Speaker 2: in those spots, but Keratini has been first base, Jeffers
- 5:50Speaker 2: has played first base.
- 5:52Speaker 3: They've DHD that would.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Remove Josh Bell effectively from the lineup, But I think
- 5:57Speaker 2: they're going to kind of roll with this for a
- 6:00Speaker 2: little while and try to figure it out as they
- 6:02Speaker 2: get closer to the deadline. Maybe you know, somebody wants
- 6:05Speaker 2: Jackson closer to deadline and you can still get back
- 6:08Speaker 2: some triple A depth because you don't really want to
- 6:11Speaker 2: shorten give yourself a take away, that third guy. We
- 6:14Speaker 2: saw how valuable it was these last two months, and
- 6:18Speaker 2: they selled because of it having that third guy. So
- 6:21Speaker 2: it's a different position. You know, at spring training they
- 6:24Speaker 2: had to put Jackson through waivers at that point. Alex
- 6:27Speaker 2: Jackson wasn't very accomplished as a hitter. His last year
- 6:30Speaker 2: was good, but he's had a pretty rough career. Offensively.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Now he's backed up his career year last year, and
- 6:36Speaker 2: the amount of money he's making is negligible. At that point,
- 6:39Speaker 2: I think a team would grab him. So you got
- 6:41Speaker 2: to figure out a way and be creative at this point.
- 6:44Speaker 2: So maybe for me that thinks that means keeping three
- 6:46Speaker 2: for a little while.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Tyler, do you keep three catchers? What do you what
- 6:51Speaker 1: do you do?
- 6:51Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 6:52Speaker 4: I think if they keep playing well, what could work
- 6:55Speaker 4: out is they're going to be in a position where
- 6:57Speaker 4: teams are calling them and they're not going to have
- 6:59Speaker 4: to worry about necessarily making the move. It's going to
- 7:02Speaker 4: be you know, who presented the best meal for them
- 7:05Speaker 4: to pick, you know kind of thing. And so yeah,
- 7:09Speaker 4: I think that to that point. Like Carotene is a
- 7:11Speaker 4: switch hitter, he's under controlled deal. You know, Jeffers has
- 7:16Speaker 4: been the one that's already been rumored and things like that.
- 7:18Speaker 4: You know, the Yankees need the catcher whatever, but you know,
- 7:21Speaker 4: the switch hitting guy who's hitting very well this year,
- 7:24Speaker 4: he's through next season. So like a team who needs
- 7:27Speaker 4: a guy to fill a full year for them next year,
- 7:30Speaker 4: like they have three options of you know, big league
- 7:34Speaker 4: ready talent, and it creates a very unique and fortunate
- 7:39Speaker 4: situation for him. And you know, it's one like we
- 7:43Speaker 4: keep saying, they got to keep playing well for this
- 7:45Speaker 4: to really be a problem for them. A good problem,
- 7:47Speaker 4: but it is, you know, carrying three catchers that you
- 7:50Speaker 4: run into it once a position player at another spot
- 7:54Speaker 4: goes down, then you need a guy and it's like, okay,
- 7:56Speaker 4: do we plug the backup, backup catcher or do we
- 7:59Speaker 4: just get an actual outfielder here or a second basement
- 8:02Speaker 4: or first baseman, you know, and like Dan said, you
- 8:05Speaker 4: have to start moving your first basement around and then
- 8:07Speaker 4: they start losing at bats. It just it can get sticky.
- 8:11Speaker 4: But it's it's never a bad problem to have three
- 8:14Speaker 4: big league ready catchers on your staff.
- 8:19Speaker 1: It's seems it's a good position, right, Like, no one's
- 8:22Speaker 1: going to be upset if Ryan Jeffers stays in the lineup.
- 8:25Speaker 1: But if the right bullpen offer comes your way, Like
- 8:29Speaker 1: to your point, Tyler, he's obviously the most attractive piece
- 8:33Speaker 1: they have to offer anyone else, anyone else better.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Yeah, just not not having to offer it up yourself.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Like when teams are coming to you, then it's like, okay,
- 8:40Speaker 4: we can't say no. To you know x y Z prospect,
- 8:43Speaker 4: you know, for for our guy for six months, you.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Know, Mason Miller. Sure, there we go.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Hey, one more point.
- 8:51Speaker 2: The versatility on the rest of the roster helps them
- 8:54Speaker 2: have a third catcher on that thirteenth spot.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Yeah, because Cody Clements can play four spots. Lukey Schult
- 9:00Speaker 3: can play two.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Outfields, sing centerfielder.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Like it just helps when you have guys wanting to
- 9:06Speaker 2: move around because it makes the rest of the roster
- 9:08Speaker 2: more functional.
- 9:10Speaker 1: All right, next up on the list, this question comes
- 9:13Speaker 1: to us from baseball enthusiast.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Uh noted Yeah, noted Twins guy.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Big yeah, yeah, Big Twins guy. Look at that. Could
- 9:24Speaker 1: mick Abel return before the playoffs? What is the latest
- 9:28Speaker 1: on mick Abel Dan?
- 9:31Speaker 2: No timeline has been established, but I'm gonna go with yes,
- 9:34Speaker 2: he could. He he's optimistic and it'll be a little
- 9:38Speaker 2: bit before they get the follow appointment with I think
- 9:41Speaker 2: he had his surgery doctor Keithmeister and Dallas he had
- 9:45Speaker 2: some uh the bone shaved down. We were talking about
- 9:48Speaker 2: this the other day. There's nothing really fun when you
- 9:51Speaker 2: have a scope of the verbiage.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, he's a legend.
- 9:56Speaker 2: It's it's either your bone is shaved or loose bodies
- 10:00Speaker 2: are removed when you have a scope on your elbow.
- 10:03Speaker 2: He had his bone shaved. But Nick Mickabel is upbeat, optimistic.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I think he hopes they'll be back before the season's over.
- 10:12Speaker 2: I think the Twins hope you will. But there's just
- 10:14Speaker 2: no official timeline as of right now.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Yeah, he could. He could be a good bullpen piece too. Sure,
- 10:22Speaker 4: build them up all the way something like that. You
- 10:24Speaker 4: know you can make that one work.
- 10:27Speaker 5: Big second half of the season coming up, there might
- 10:29Speaker 5: be a hot ticket, a rivalry series, a sold out
- 10:33Speaker 5: experience they need to get your hands on, and Sea

- 11:29Speaker 1: All right, simple enough. Next on the list, let's go
- 11:32Speaker 1: to a fun one and put Tyler on this. Sorry,
- 11:41Speaker 1: this one's coming to us from Tim on X. He
- 11:43Speaker 1: wants to know what were the clubhouse and dugout like
- 11:47Speaker 1: in the Josh Donaldson era. I think he's trying to
- 11:52Speaker 1: is trying to elicit a reaction.
- 11:54Speaker 4: On it was fun. It was fun, you know, I mean,
- 11:57Speaker 4: everybody's seen JD. He's got his own show going to
- 12:00Speaker 4: and all the past interviews. You know, the was the
- 12:03Speaker 4: one he told if your hitting coach tells you to
- 12:05Speaker 4: hit the ball, on the ground, tell him now, you
- 12:07Speaker 4: know kind of thing. So it's he JV is incredible
- 12:10Speaker 4: because he is a master of the game of hitting,
- 12:13Speaker 4: like he was so good for so long, and listen
- 12:16Speaker 4: to him break down things like that. He was very
- 12:19Speaker 4: much a huge piece to helping guys learn some things.
- 12:22Speaker 4: He also come in guns blazing sometimes and that was
- 12:25Speaker 4: like part of the experience. You know, he's a big personality.
- 12:29Speaker 4: I enjoyed every minute. You know, he was the guy
- 12:32Speaker 4: I love to just get him going on something. You know,
- 12:34Speaker 4: there's those guys I'll get riled up about things too,
- 12:37Speaker 4: but you know, you could gass him up a little
- 12:39Speaker 4: bit and he'd go and run with it, and sometimes
- 12:42Speaker 4: you never knew it was gonna come out of his mouth.
- 12:44Speaker 4: Which makes for an entertaining season because baseball the long year,
- 12:49Speaker 4: it's one hundred and sixty two games, you know, plus
- 12:51Speaker 4: all the spring training, it gets monotonous, and you need
- 12:54Speaker 4: a guy with some color to him to break up
- 12:57Speaker 4: the monotony sometimes. And you know, like Dan was saying,
- 13:00Speaker 4: he's the media really wasn't in the locker room for
- 13:03Speaker 4: those years he was there, so it made it tough
- 13:06Speaker 4: for everyone to get the experience but you know, it's
- 13:08Speaker 4: a guy who was an MVP. He played in some
- 13:11Speaker 4: huge moments. You know, he's he kind of did everything
- 13:14Speaker 4: you could do. He checked all the boxes as a
- 13:15Speaker 4: big leaguer and so he's a he was a huge
- 13:17Speaker 4: piece to have around uh. You know, but he was
- 13:20Speaker 4: a big personality and I loved it. I'd never had
- 13:23Speaker 4: any issues with him. You know, it's a if you
- 13:25Speaker 4: ask ten people, you're going to get ten different answers.
- 13:27Speaker 4: But JD was He's a fun team are.
- 13:31Speaker 2: We're going to answer this a little less diplomatically. You know,
- 13:35Speaker 2: we weren't in the clubhouse. And I will say this,
- 13:37Speaker 2: I'm going to own this. We gave him media good
- 13:39Speaker 2: guy in twenty twenty one, and I will say for
- 13:43Speaker 2: our purposes, Josh Dohnson was awesome because he would come
- 13:46Speaker 2: on zoom. Do you remember the incident where he kicked
- 13:50Speaker 2: dirt across the plate at UH to talk about the
- 13:54Speaker 2: strike zone with the umpires and and he brought up
- 13:58Speaker 2: sticky stuff on the base.
- 14:00Speaker 3: I'm surprised you're speaking so glowingly.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Other stuff he's like I remember like he called out
- 14:06Speaker 2: Garrett Cole essentially, and from media perspective, he was awesome,
- 14:10Speaker 2: But I mean, I will say it's widely known after
- 14:14Speaker 2: the fact, especially after Nelson Cruz got traded, that Josh
- 14:18Speaker 2: Donson had a big personality and it didn't always go well.
- 14:22Speaker 3: And Duff, I don't.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Know if you want to talk about any of this,
- 14:25Speaker 2: but I know that that he and Miguel snow It's
- 14:29Speaker 2: like he dressed Miguel snow down at one point.
- 14:32Speaker 3: I know there was some incident with Bill Evers, the
- 14:35Speaker 3: bench coach. Josh Donson was look when they moved him.
- 14:40Speaker 2: They felt very fortunate when they traded him before the
- 14:42Speaker 2: twenty twenty two season, right after the lockout. They got
- 14:45Speaker 2: rid of that fifty million dollars one. They knew his
- 14:47Speaker 2: skills were kind of on the way down, and they
- 14:50Speaker 2: knew when they signed him. I remember at the time
- 14:52Speaker 2: it was a four year, ninety two million dollar deal.
- 14:54Speaker 2: It was the biggest free agent deal in Twins history
- 14:56Speaker 2: at the time. They knew the last year or two
- 14:59Speaker 2: might be tougher, but they were trying to sign him
- 15:02Speaker 2: to win in twenty twenty, especially that team was loaded
- 15:05Speaker 2: for bear. After the Bomba squad in twenty nineteen came back,
- 15:09Speaker 2: they went out and spent in free agency, they did
- 15:11Speaker 2: some things. They brought him in to be a difference
- 15:13Speaker 2: maker because they thought his defense at third and the
- 15:16Speaker 2: attitude and edge that he was gonna bring were good.
- 15:18Speaker 2: And I will say two men in that twenty twenty
- 15:21Speaker 2: season when Nelson Cruz was there, Josh Johnson, I know,
- 15:24Speaker 2: was thought of as a good soldier just like brought.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Something that the team didn't have.
- 15:28Speaker 2: When Nelson Cruz left, I heard that, you know, he
- 15:31Speaker 2: took the leadership role and took the reins and maybe
- 15:34Speaker 2: it didn't go as well as the Twins hoped. And
- 15:38Speaker 2: what do you know, he was only there for a
- 15:39Speaker 2: few more months and then they shipped them to New
- 15:41Speaker 2: York and I think the clubhouse might have been happier
- 15:45Speaker 2: at that point. You know, sounded pretty tense. But again
- 15:50Speaker 2: for everything that they asked of him when they were
- 15:52Speaker 2: winning and they didn't ditch the idea of winning, Josh
- 15:55Speaker 2: Jahnson gave them what they were looking for.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Yeah, there wouldn.
- 16:04Speaker 4: No man, it was the electric I said, you never
- 16:08Speaker 4: knew who's coming in because he'd be on one one
- 16:10Speaker 4: day like he'd be all you know, he'd be locked
- 16:12Speaker 4: in and focused, and the next day he was like
- 16:15Speaker 4: over here talking about stuff. He was a collector of things.
- 16:17Speaker 4: You know, he'd watch a game whatever, he'd get on something,
- 16:20Speaker 4: and if you're on the wrong side of it, like
- 16:21Speaker 4: you were gonna get it. And so it's just one
- 16:23Speaker 4: of those like kind of duck and cover. But it
- 16:28Speaker 4: was refreshing for me because it was the first time
- 16:31Speaker 4: I'd been around a guy not not in the same vein,
- 16:34Speaker 4: but not unlike Carlos when he came where it's like,
- 16:37Speaker 4: we're trying to win baseball games, like period, and everything
- 16:41Speaker 4: I'm doing is to win games, and if you're not
- 16:43Speaker 4: on board, you better get out of the way. Like
- 16:45Speaker 4: that was it. And that's that's why you rub people
- 16:47Speaker 4: the wrong way because you may be doing your best
- 16:50Speaker 4: and it may not have sat well with him, and
- 16:53Speaker 4: you're just gonna hear about it. And so it was
- 16:54Speaker 4: one with dad. Coaches that were on my mask. Yeah,
- 16:58Speaker 4: it was you know, if you had to call it.
- 17:00Speaker 4: I had a college coach that would just two on
- 17:01Speaker 4: you for fun. And so it's like, you know what,
- 17:03Speaker 4: I've heard it before. You know, whatever, call me whatever
- 17:05Speaker 4: you want, but you know, I know I'm doing my best.
- 17:08Speaker 4: So it was a if you didn't have enough thick
- 17:10Speaker 4: skin at times you were gonna you were gonna feel
- 17:13Speaker 4: it a little bit.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Well, that twenty twenty one team was so dead in
- 17:17Speaker 2: the water. I mean they traded Nelson Cruz ten days
- 17:19Speaker 2: before the deadline because and that got them Joe Ryan.
- 17:22Speaker 2: That was a great trade that worked out. Remember Taylor
- 17:25Speaker 2: got hurt. Taylor was going to get traded to San
- 17:27Speaker 2: Diego pol Taylor got hurt.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Yep, And you.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Know, nothing went right for that team. I think Jay
- 17:34Speaker 2: Happ signed and as he signed, they found he had COVID,
- 17:38Speaker 2: so he missed part of spring training with COVID. Like
- 17:40Speaker 2: everything that could go wrong that year did. Royce Lewis
- 17:43Speaker 2: reported the camp. They were hoping roy Lewis by making
- 17:46Speaker 2: an impact on that team, and he had the torn
- 17:48Speaker 2: acl that he had hurt over the winter, like he
- 17:52Speaker 2: slipped on ice at his home in Dallas. So the
- 17:55Speaker 2: twenty one, the twenty to twenty one team was was
- 17:58Speaker 2: in trouble from the start. And and so I'm sure
- 18:01Speaker 2: like when you're brought in to be winner, that would
- 18:04Speaker 2: probably give you the ass by July when all that continued,
- 18:08Speaker 2: suck it the wheels fall off.
- 18:16Speaker 4: Uh.
- 18:17Speaker 1: My mother definitely agrees. With Josh Jnson about Miguelson. No,
- 18:21Speaker 1: I'll just leave it at that. She was never, never
- 18:23Speaker 1: a MIGUELSONO fan. She she loved everybody all the time,
- 18:29Speaker 1: even like on the worst Twins teams, just everybody was great,
- 18:33Speaker 1: but just did not make Miguelson.
- 18:36Speaker 4: My grandma used to think Barrios was why I wasn't
- 18:39Speaker 4: a starter anymore, and I was like, Grandma, he's really good,
- 18:43Speaker 4: so he's an all star.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Well, speaking of pictures, this one is from Dave Peterson
- 18:55Speaker 1: on X how much and how many years would it
- 18:58Speaker 1: take to keep Joe Ryan.
- 19:03Speaker 2: I think in light of Tom Polead's comments that this
- 19:06Speaker 2: is definitely pretty relevant to address it.
- 19:09Speaker 3: And look, I think Joe Ryan.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Payrolls, he is pretty much Joe Ryan is.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Worth every penny of what he's going to get.
- 19:21Speaker 2: The thing is is, I think he was looking like
- 19:24Speaker 2: we were talking about the end last year and if
- 19:26Speaker 2: they were going to extend him then it was like
- 19:28Speaker 2: he wanted something like a seven year deal and like
- 19:30Speaker 2: thirty million a year.
- 19:32Speaker 3: I love Joe Ryan.
- 19:34Speaker 2: I don't think the Twins are the kind of team
- 19:36Speaker 2: that can do Joe Ryan until he's thirty seven. You
- 19:39Speaker 2: can probably do Joe Ryan on a short term deal,
- 19:42Speaker 2: like a you if Joe Ryan was willing to take
- 19:45Speaker 2: like three years and one hundred and twenty five million, Okay,
- 19:48Speaker 2: I do that heartbeat, because you're giving him his value
- 19:52Speaker 2: in his peak years and he's going to pitch for
- 19:54Speaker 2: you and he's gonna be great. The problem is when
- 19:56Speaker 2: he gets to thirty five, thirty six, thirty seven years old,
- 19:59Speaker 2: and I think, you know the further along and he's
- 20:03Speaker 2: thirty right now. So the further along he gets, maybe
- 20:06Speaker 2: the years come down, but that money's gonna be up there.
- 20:09Speaker 2: So if you can get him on a shorter term deal, yes,
- 20:12Speaker 2: But Joe Ryan's looking for long term and he's looking
- 20:14Speaker 2: for sustain and he deserves it. He's pitched himself into
- 20:18Speaker 2: this position where it is he's going to get a
- 20:23Speaker 2: nice big contract and he'll get his due. And I
- 20:25Speaker 2: wonder what it would be like if he was in
- 20:27Speaker 2: New York doing this or in Boston doing this instead
- 20:30Speaker 2: of in flyover country, which is what the Twins are.
- 20:33Speaker 2: I mean, he's been doing this under the radar, but
- 20:35Speaker 2: he's outstanding and he's an All Star for the second
- 20:36Speaker 2: time for a reason. Hey in a different market, you
- 20:41Speaker 2: guys know it. You know it's true. In a different market,
- 20:43Speaker 2: Joe Ryan is just much bad.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Yeah, right, And so.
- 20:51Speaker 2: I understand the sentiment Twins fans are like, we have
- 20:54Speaker 2: this guy, why aren't we doing something about locking him up?
- 20:57Speaker 3: It's a very valid question.
- 20:58Speaker 2: It's just I don't think Joe lots Joe Ryan's timeline
- 21:01Speaker 2: because he's thirty, already turned thirty in June, and wanting
- 21:04Speaker 2: a longer term deal. I just don't think that works
- 21:06Speaker 2: for the Twins. It's why they didn't bring Sonny Gray back,
- 21:09Speaker 2: knowing he's gonna be thirty seven in the last year
- 21:11Speaker 2: of that three year deal. The terms were not outrageous
- 21:14Speaker 2: on Sonny. I think he got twenty five a year
- 21:17Speaker 2: and maybe a little bit more. But the terms were
- 21:19Speaker 2: not outrageous for Sonny. It's just the timing of it.
- 21:22Speaker 2: If the Twins are gonna locked guys up, I think
- 21:24Speaker 2: it's gotta be earlier in their career. Makes me think
- 21:26Speaker 2: TOAs Bradley is the guy you look at locking up
- 21:29Speaker 2: if you can, and it's gonna be a lot more
- 21:31Speaker 2: expensive after this year than it was going into this
- 21:34Speaker 2: year for Toash Bradley. But you know that's where you
- 21:36Speaker 2: probably spend your money with the younger guys.
- 21:40Speaker 1: From a player's perspective, the like, obviously, the logic makes
- 21:44Speaker 1: sense that you don't want to pay a guy for
- 21:46Speaker 1: his age. Yeah.
- 21:49Speaker 4: Yeah, it was just like I don't know the right
- 21:53Speaker 4: trying to think the right words. He's Unfortunately for him,
- 21:57Speaker 4: he went to college. Like that's kind of the one
- 22:00Speaker 4: of the talking points of the new CBA. So because
- 22:03Speaker 4: he went to school, and basically for no other reason,
- 22:06Speaker 4: he's now gonna get dinged because he's a little older
- 22:08Speaker 4: as a free agent, and you know, that's something nobody
- 22:11Speaker 4: wants to hear, you know, or wants to deal with.
- 22:13Speaker 4: And so to that point, he's gonna say, whoever's gonna
- 22:17Speaker 4: give me the most money possible, Like that's where he's
- 22:19Speaker 4: gonna go. Why wouldn't you you know, And unless you
- 22:23Speaker 4: know he's fallen in love with why Zetta or something
- 22:26Speaker 4: and you know, wants to make that his home, you know,
- 22:29Speaker 4: he's gonna go. He's he's in. He's a California kid,
- 22:32Speaker 4: you know, I think he's Northern California grew up, you know,
- 22:34Speaker 4: so I'm sure there's some roots there. You know, there's
- 22:36Speaker 4: gonna be some big teams probably on the East Coast
- 22:38Speaker 4: that won in on Joe Ryan, you know, the Rays
- 22:41Speaker 4: for all we know, might want him back and throw
- 22:42Speaker 4: a bunch of money at him. You know, it's there
- 22:44Speaker 4: they could get you know, uh different with the contract.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Maybe trying to incentive base it. I don't know, but
- 22:51Speaker 4: he would never say yes to that to try and
- 22:53Speaker 4: save money on the front end. But you know, he's
- 22:56Speaker 4: he's gonna be one of the big fish when he's
- 22:58Speaker 4: a free agent. I don't know who all the classes
- 23:00Speaker 4: at the moment, but as far as between health and
- 23:05Speaker 4: performance and velo and all the metrics, like, he's kind
- 23:08Speaker 4: of a you know, one of those guys with him
- 23:11Speaker 4: and Scooball and a couple others. So you know, and honestly,
- 23:15Speaker 4: if Scooble gets an early deal, that's going to drive
- 23:17Speaker 4: up his bottom line anyway. So it's he has no
- 23:20Speaker 4: reason to take an early deal, especially at a discount
- 23:23Speaker 4: unfortunately for Minnesota fans. But he is. He's going to
- 23:26Speaker 4: garner a heavy, heavy contract.
- 23:30Speaker 1: I take three years, one twenty five to live in.
- 23:32Speaker 4: Why is that? Oh?
- 23:34Speaker 1: Sure, come on, Joe, it's pretty obvious what to do there.
- 23:38Speaker 4: But that's a bit like I said, Pitt Peril is
- 23:42Speaker 4: one hundred. He's gonna get at least one hundred, so
- 23:44Speaker 4: you're just gonna double.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Hey, remember Tom Pouladd did say. Tom Poulad said, they're
- 23:49Speaker 2: one hundred million dollar payrolls not gonna cut it, so
- 23:52Speaker 2: they are looking to spend. I don't know what the
- 23:54Speaker 2: upper realms of that pat that future payroll look like
- 23:59Speaker 2: if they get there. Again, got to get there. But
- 24:01Speaker 2: if they get there, I don't know what it looks like.
- 24:03Speaker 2: But man, they're not gonna be one hundred million forever,
- 24:07Speaker 2: at least according to Tom pull Out, So we'll see.

- 25:12Speaker 1: We will see indeed, all right, moving on to the
- 25:15Speaker 1: next one, Wyatt wants to know, Tyler Duffy, what's your
- 25:21Speaker 1: velo at right now? And if Dan or Zach want
- 25:24Speaker 1: to answer weekend too.
- 25:27Speaker 4: That was ninety four my last doubting I'll give it
- 25:29Speaker 4: that ninety four curveball, whatever slide you're gonna call it
- 25:33Speaker 4: was up at the low eighties, you know, just couldn't
- 25:36Speaker 4: get anybody out. So here we are, all right, Dan,
- 25:42Speaker 4: this wasn't quite there.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't ask any scouts. I didn't ask scouts.
- 25:48Speaker 2: I was I wait, so ninety four, Like, was that
- 25:52Speaker 2: your top out or what were you saying?
- 25:54Speaker 4: I topped out at four? I was sitting two to
- 25:57Speaker 4: three one, probably ninety one ninety four, where I guess
- 26:00Speaker 4: we'd call it on the sheet, and then I actually
- 26:03Speaker 4: had a good little change up I was working with.
- 26:05Speaker 4: I was pretty proud of it, but like I said,
- 26:07Speaker 4: nobody was swinging at it, so it's not really useful.
- 26:10Speaker 3: But at your peak? Were you at your peak? Were
- 26:13Speaker 3: you like ninety six ninety seven.
- 26:16Speaker 4: I my best years, I probably averaged like ninety four
- 26:20Speaker 4: and a half ish. Yeah, I want to say six.
- 26:24Speaker 4: I touched in ninety eight. I believe it is one time.
- 26:28Speaker 4: And there was a day. It was a day I
- 26:29Speaker 4: was supposed to get sent down, actually if I remember correctly,
- 26:33Speaker 4: and I came in against Detroit in the day game.
- 26:35Speaker 4: I think I punched out six and two innings and
- 26:38Speaker 4: then I got the call afterwards like hey, don't get
- 26:41Speaker 4: on the plane tomorrow, we're going to make a move.
- 26:43Speaker 4: I was like, thank you God. So I think that
- 26:45Speaker 4: was in twenty eighteen when I was on the roller
- 26:48Speaker 4: coaster where I got to stay for a little longer.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Shelter, Get deliver you good news. Shelter, Get deliver you
- 26:54Speaker 3: good news.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, so that's a good.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Oliver you all the bad news well.
- 27:02Speaker 4: He had the yeah, the the change of the guard.
- 27:04Speaker 4: I mean between front office and Molly and everybody, like,
- 27:07Speaker 4: he had all the moving parts. He was the only like,
- 27:09Speaker 4: you know, stable thing in there, unfortunately for everybody else.
- 27:13Speaker 4: But yeah, then and then, yeah, the Tiger seemed to
- 27:15Speaker 4: bring up Villa and me. I think I had a
- 27:16Speaker 4: few good games against them where I just like had
- 27:19Speaker 4: a tick up. It's probably having I had to face
- 27:21Speaker 4: Meggi every time I pitched, so it was easy to
- 27:23Speaker 4: get going. Dan, have you tracked your Villa recently any idea?
- 27:30Speaker 3: Yeah? I was fifty two there to day.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Oh yeah, great.
- 27:34Speaker 3: I topped out at fifty three point eight, so I
- 27:36Speaker 3: rounded it to fifty four.
- 27:38Speaker 4: It was also got it being sprint speed in the airport.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Hey, I know, Tyler Rogers, but I was a side
- 27:46Speaker 2: armor when I pitched way back.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Wow, it's never a good sign.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Was that No, No, I was tall and lankey. I
- 27:54Speaker 2: scared the kids. I started out my arm angle because
- 27:58Speaker 2: I was tall, lanky. My arm go would start behind
- 28:01Speaker 2: the batter essentially, and so that the game's getting thrown
- 28:03Speaker 2: at him and shocking off with.
- 28:07Speaker 4: The deception.
- 28:09Speaker 2: I mean, hey, Tyler Rogers got a big fat deal
- 28:12Speaker 2: out of it.
- 28:12Speaker 3: So all right there, Toronto, David.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll have to next time I'm at Valley Fair.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I'll have to do the game where you throw the
- 28:21Speaker 1: ball and see. But let's just say there's a reason
- 28:23Speaker 1: I played first base my entire baseball career.
- 28:27Speaker 3: That's there's a reason I played left out.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Nice, all right. The last one should be from Josiah
- 28:40Speaker 1: Waldner Waldner for Duffy, Did you purposely throw that's supposed
- 28:48Speaker 1: to be your mean Mercedes? Correct?
- 28:49Speaker 4: Then yes?
- 28:52Speaker 1: Or were you or were you told to?
- 28:55Speaker 4: All right?
- 28:55Speaker 1: So first off, Tyler, tell us what Jessiah is referring
- 28:59Speaker 1: to you. There set the scene for.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Us, so I believe it was. That was COVID twenty twenty,
- 29:05Speaker 4: and we were down like twelve to one or zero.
- 29:09Speaker 4: Maybe it was just a blowout. And williams Ostadillo, the
- 29:13Speaker 4: fan favorite, comes into pitch in the ninth and goes
- 29:19Speaker 4: three to zero to his fellow countryman from Venezuela, and
- 29:23Speaker 4: Yerman proceeds to leg kick slow pitch softball a bomb
- 29:28Speaker 4: and it's you know, it's one of those it's a blot.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Who cares? But it was three to zero and he
- 29:34Speaker 4: swung and so he hits the homer and like half
- 29:38Speaker 4: of the team's kind of like, eh, whatever, like who cares.
- 29:41Speaker 4: So game finishes and the bullpen, like we're talking about
- 29:45Speaker 4: the walk off the other day, we get in, you know,
- 29:47Speaker 4: five minutes later, and there's just like this stir in
- 29:50Speaker 4: the locker room, like what the hell is going on? Well,
- 29:53Speaker 4: a pretty good sized group was pretty pissed off that
- 29:56Speaker 4: he swung, and so we're like, Okay, what's gonna happen yat?
- 30:00Speaker 4: So next day rolls around and we as a group,
- 30:04Speaker 4: we're's kind of like, hey, look, if it's a close game,
- 30:06Speaker 4: we're not going to mess around. Like half of us
- 30:09Speaker 4: honestly could give a shit, and the other half was
- 30:12Speaker 4: pretty upset. So we have a meeting. It's like, look,
- 30:15Speaker 4: if it's a game, we're not messing around, Like we're
- 30:17Speaker 4: just gonna play baseball. So fast forward. I think it
- 30:20Speaker 4: was like a three to two game. I think we're
- 30:22Speaker 4: down one. I'm warming up, you know, phone call comes
- 30:26Speaker 4: to the bullpen while I'm throwing. You know, we're gonna
- 30:29Speaker 4: get him, And I'm like, what I thought we talked
- 30:33Speaker 4: about playing me straight. You know, I thought we were good.
- 30:37Speaker 4: We're not good. Anymore. So I come in. This is
- 30:40Speaker 4: my first time doing this, especially in the big leagues,
- 30:44Speaker 4: and I'm like, all right, here we go. You know
- 30:45Speaker 4: we're gonna do this. And you know, I'm not naming
- 30:48Speaker 4: names for a reason. So we come in and I
- 30:53Speaker 4: tried to get him, you know, the old school was
- 30:55Speaker 4: hit him below the belt. You know, you're not trying
- 30:58Speaker 4: to hit anybody in the head, you know, do damage whatever.
- 31:00Speaker 4: So I let one lose. Well, I got armside to
- 31:03Speaker 4: begin with, so I kind of looked at his belt,
- 31:06Speaker 4: you know whatever, and it just went straight behind him.
- 31:08Speaker 4: Everybody knew what was happening. It was instant, just uproar.
- 31:12Speaker 4: You know, all hell breaks loose, nothing, nothing ever happens.
- 31:15Speaker 4: Like I love, everybody's tough in the moment, you know,
- 31:19Speaker 4: especially when they don't even get hit. It's like, go
- 31:21Speaker 4: get somebody if you want to get them. You know,
- 31:24Speaker 4: if we're gonna do it, let's do it. So luckily
- 31:26Speaker 4: for me, Tony larusa kind of buried Mercedes after the fact,
- 31:32Speaker 4: and it saved me from getting a lot of the
- 31:34Speaker 4: fire because it was definitely you know, I was gonna
- 31:37Speaker 4: wear it, you know, and be the sacrificial lamb for
- 31:40Speaker 4: the team. So Yeerman, you know, he gets all upset
- 31:44Speaker 4: and Larusa postgames like kind of weirdly goes at him,
- 31:48Speaker 4: which I'm very grateful for now, you know. And then
- 31:52Speaker 4: next day I ended up I got fined and it
- 31:55Speaker 4: was like during COVID, so that the find was like
- 31:57Speaker 4: you risked, you know, guys getting infected and by clearing
- 32:01Speaker 4: benches and all.
- 32:01Speaker 3: It was.
- 32:02Speaker 4: It was crazy times. You know, we all lived through it,
- 32:04Speaker 4: but Baseball World was especially crazy, and so it was
- 32:07Speaker 4: a yeah, it was. It was not my decision, I guess.
- 32:11Speaker 4: I'll say I won't say any names, but it was
- 32:14Speaker 4: for the better of your teammates, you know, when you're
- 32:16Speaker 4: a group like that, you got to go with the boys,
- 32:18Speaker 4: and so I was willing to do it. I missed.
- 32:21Speaker 4: I kind of regret that part at least, but yeah,
- 32:24Speaker 4: it was it was, uh yeah, one of those moments
- 32:26Speaker 4: after the fact, I was like, what just happened? And
- 32:28Speaker 4: then I got suspended for two games. Ended up sitting
- 32:31Speaker 4: in a suite with Roco because he also got suspended,
- 32:34Speaker 4: I guess because of it. So we're at the Angels stadium, yeah,
- 32:39Speaker 4: and I'd like, yeah, it led to a lot through
- 32:41Speaker 4: like a long outing because I was going to be suspended.
- 32:43Speaker 4: I sat in the suite with him for two games.
- 32:46Speaker 4: Then we had that horrible flight to Cleveland where we
- 32:48Speaker 4: had to play the makeup game or something like. It
- 32:50Speaker 4: was just a disaster of a few days. But yeah,
- 32:54Speaker 4: what a moment.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Okay.
- 32:56Speaker 2: So some some parts of this where I can add
- 33:00Speaker 2: to the memories. This occurred during twenty twenty one.
- 33:05Speaker 3: On that team.
- 33:05Speaker 4: I could remember, Yeah, that's.
- 33:07Speaker 2: The red ash here, that's the red ash here already
- 33:09Speaker 2: r Yeah, we're all just you guys are terrible, and
- 33:12Speaker 2: the White Sox were like getting to be good that year.
- 33:15Speaker 2: They you guys, won the division in twenty twenty. White
- 33:19Speaker 2: Sox made the playoffs in twenty twenty. Then the White
- 33:21Speaker 2: Sox added they got Lanceline on that twenty twenty one team,
- 33:25Speaker 2: they went out and they did some things and like
- 33:30Speaker 2: they had some fire to them and your Meine Mercedes
- 33:33Speaker 2: was having a career year at the time. But also
- 33:35Speaker 2: I remember, like he's older, he's like thirty years old
- 33:38Speaker 2: at the time, and it wasn't like very old.
- 33:40Speaker 3: He had, right, he had had some stuff.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Go on that had prevent him from getting to the
- 33:45Speaker 2: major leagues, but I remember the radio guys asking me
- 33:49Speaker 2: about it and are like, hey, that that seemed purposeful,
- 33:51Speaker 2: and I was like.
- 33:52Speaker 3: No, no way, not tough. I'm like that, no way.
- 33:54Speaker 3: I was like, no way. Did the thing before lead
- 33:57Speaker 3: to that?
- 33:58Speaker 2: But we had just reach started being able to talk
- 34:01Speaker 2: to players at the end of April that year. That's
- 34:04Speaker 2: when everybody started to get their their shots, and that
- 34:07Speaker 2: meant that we could be closer to each other. So
- 34:09Speaker 2: we get to do distanced interviews, so the players could
- 34:12Speaker 2: stand on the field and we could sit in the
- 34:15Speaker 2: front row of the stands and interview them walking off
- 34:18Speaker 2: the field. And I remember asking Duff and Taylor Rodgers
- 34:21Speaker 2: as they were walking off and I got sort of
- 34:23Speaker 2: a noncommittal answer, but I have one hundred percent new
- 34:26Speaker 2: it was then real. After the fact, I'm like, ooh,
- 34:29Speaker 2: you didn't answer that how you typically do?
- 34:31Speaker 3: Like you absolutely through it?
- 34:34Speaker 4: What do you mean?
- 34:36Speaker 3: And it only added more fuel to the fire.
- 34:38Speaker 2: But here's the interesting thing. That was one of four
- 34:41Speaker 2: williams Astadio appearances that year, it was the only one
- 34:45Speaker 2: he gave up a run in. He finished the season
- 34:47Speaker 2: with a two to twenty five year and it was
- 34:50Speaker 2: like one of the best moments of the year. Phil
- 34:52Speaker 2: Miller asked, asked Todo why he was so good at pitching,
- 34:57Speaker 2: and the Asidia was literally one of the funniest people
- 35:00Speaker 2: you ever covered. And his interviews were the same. And
- 35:03Speaker 2: he turned to fill and he deadpans serious as Gasolina puppy.
- 35:08Speaker 3: He's forty two.
- 35:10Speaker 2: His forty two mile an hour lobs He's like Gasolina Puppy.
- 35:14Speaker 3: And it was like so convicted the way he said it.
- 35:17Speaker 3: I love that guy's confidence.
- 35:18Speaker 2: He's one of the best players, most fun to be around,
- 35:22Speaker 2: a totally weird character. Everything about him was just like
- 35:26Speaker 2: it was a side show. And you know the package
- 35:30Speaker 2: he was an he was a good athlete for that frame.
- 35:34Speaker 3: Oh he got a lot of mile in job his career.
- 35:37Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, and he lived on pre workout.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I still remember the video of him like legging out
- 35:43Speaker 1: a triple where he flicks the helmet off and the
- 35:45Speaker 1: hair comes out.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Yes, that was the Yankees in twenty eighteen.
- 35:49Speaker 4: I think, oh yeah, that long ago it was. And
- 35:52Speaker 4: he said he had the show that chubby people can
- 35:55Speaker 4: run to this quote, I think.
- 35:59Speaker 3: It was. That was the exact quote. The guy was
- 36:01Speaker 3: a gem.
- 36:03Speaker 1: It was May seventeenth, twenty twenty one, the White Sox
- 36:07Speaker 1: were leading fifteen to four when it was close when
- 36:10Speaker 1: Mercedes hit the the homer off asked Thedo on a
- 36:14Speaker 1: three to zero count, as you think you said that
- 36:16Speaker 1: Tyler in the ninth. The next day, Tyler came in
- 36:20Speaker 1: top of the seventh inning, got Yoan Mancata to ground out,
- 36:25Speaker 1: and then Mercedes came up. You ended up walking him
- 36:28Speaker 1: on four pitches. Yeah, and then you got two strikeouts.
- 36:33Speaker 3: It's the bit outside happens.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Yeah, but it slipped. It slipped, slipped.
- 36:41Speaker 4: There's no more sticky, so slip.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Well. Thanks again to everybody who took time to send
- 36:47Speaker 1: in some questions. Uh, there's a few we didn't get to.
- 36:50Speaker 1: I know some people asked about an injury update on
- 36:52Speaker 1: David Festa, which we're still waiting to hear it.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Oh yeah, let me throw throw that in. We are waiting.
- 36:58Speaker 3: We didn't.
- 36:59Speaker 2: This week was so busy with the draft. We only
- 37:02Speaker 2: got a few players from Jeremy's ol. Jeremyszl has been
- 37:05Speaker 2: updatings lately and there are a couple guys at slubkeeper Cracks.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Festa was one of them. I would imagine we'll see
- 37:11Speaker 3: Jeremy zol in Chicago over the weekend.
- 37:12Speaker 2: I'll try to get an answer on that as soon
- 37:14Speaker 2: as possible, because curious myself, that's a guy who potentially
- 37:18Speaker 2: can come up and be a part of this bullpen
- 37:20Speaker 2: if he gets right.
- 37:21Speaker 3: And I don't know where he's at.
- 37:23Speaker 4: In his program.
- 37:24Speaker 2: And yeah, and Cole Sands, by the way, did throw
- 37:29Speaker 2: a second scoreless inning on the eleventh at Triple A
- 37:34Speaker 2: Saint Paul. Because most of minor leagues is off, He's
- 37:37Speaker 2: going to Florida to do a little bit more work
- 37:40Speaker 2: because he just needs to keep throwing. And it had
- 37:43Speaker 2: been every four days on the first two appearances, so
- 37:46Speaker 2: they want to get him thrown more often before he
- 37:48Speaker 2: comes back. He's gonna have to throw like two out
- 37:51Speaker 2: of three or maybe even a back to back. But
- 37:53Speaker 2: the velos are up for him so far on all
- 37:56Speaker 2: of his pitches, so that's a good sign. The Twins
- 37:57Speaker 2: could absolutely use Cole Sands the healthy version and just
- 38:01Speaker 2: give them another guy in that pen.
