EP 55 - The New Personal Investment Account (PIA)
Jill and Kelly-Anne break down what we know so far about the new Personal Investment Account, due to start on 1 July 2027. They also cover what's still unclear and how to decide where your savings belong now.
What we cover
Who can open one: anyone aged 18 or over. The annual limit is €12,000.
Tax: gains are tax-free up to €50,000. Above that, a 1% tax applies to the value over the threshold, not just the growth.
Open questions: which providers will offer it, charges, fund choice, transfers in, and rules on closing and reopening.
Why you shouldn't wait to start saving.
