- 0:29and within distant galaxy clusters. That achievement
- 0:33transformed astronomers' ability to study high
- 0:36-energy, universe processes by providing detailed
- 0:39observations that reshaped models of black hole
- 0:42growth and cosmic structure formation. So now

- 2:43Sunny mornings send you. Supporters of the millionaires
- 2:49tax are celebrating as the revenue generated
- 2:52from the state surtax on wealthier households
- 2:55increased more than 13 % last budget year, totaling
- 2:59more than $3 .4 billion, according to the Department
- 3:03of Revenue. The Raise Up Massachusetts Coalition,
- 3:07which advocated for the 4 % surtax on household
- 3:10income, above approximately $1 .1 million, Noted
- 3:15this is the third consecutive year the SERDAX
- 3:17has significantly outperformed initial revenue
- 3:20estimates. In a statement, RaiseUp highlighted
- 3:24that nearly four years after the passage of the
- 3:26Fair Share Amendment, the ultra -rich are remaining
- 3:29in Massachusetts and contributing more in taxes,
- 3:33which is directly benefiting education and transportation
- 3:36initiatives, including universal free school
- 3:39meals and free community college. Now on to sports.
- 3:49Kaitlyn Clark, the superstar guard for the Indiana
- 3:52Fever, is one technical foul away from being
- 3:55suspended for one game. She received her seventh
- 3:58technical foul of the season on Wednesday night
- 4:01during a blowout home victory over the Connecticut
- 4:04Sun. The Women's National Basketball Association
- 4:08allows players to receive up to eight technical
- 4:10fouls before facing additional penalties. Since
- 4:14Clark has seven, She is at risk of missing a
- 4:17game in the regular season. Another technical
- 4:21foul would lead to her suspension, which is a
- 4:23likely scenario given her competitive nature.
- 4:27The Fever's next game is on Tuesday in Seattle.
- 4:31In local sports, the Red Sox are on a mission.
- 4:35They matched a franchise record with a 15 -game
- 4:38winning streak before dropping the nightcap yesterday
- 4:41against Baltimore. But this team has discovered
- 4:44who they are. a good baseball team. They were
- 4:4832 and 46 just a month ago. Now they're knocking
- 4:52on the door of a playoff berth as they host Toronto
- 4:55tomorrow night at Fenway. Patrick Sandoval takes
- 4:59the mound against Trey Jesavage with first pitch
- 5:02at 7 -10. The Sox are confident at home after
- 5:07rattling off 10 wins in their last 11, and the
- 5:10Blue Jays are the perfect opponent to keep that
- 5:13momentum rolling. Games two and three follow
- 5:16Saturday afternoon and Sunday at 1 .35. Meanwhile,
- 5:22the Celtics are getting creative with their cap
- 5:24situation. Paul George waived his $3 .9 million
- 5:29trade bonus, giving Boston more financial flexibility
- 5:33as they build around Jason Tadham following the
- 5:36Jalen Brown deal. The team's still exploring
- 5:40whether they can make Bradley Beal work in free
- 5:42agency despite the constraints. Preseason tips
- 5:46off October 8th, with Philadelphia coming to
- 5:49town twice. Jalen Brown's return to TD Garden
- 5:52will be must -see basketball. Over on the Patriots'
- 5:57front, Ant -Rusher Harold Landry landed on the
- 6:00Pew -Pee -Blist ahead of training camp. He lent
- 6:03the team with eight and a half sacks last year,
- 6:06but meets time to rehab his knee. Veterans report
- 6:10Friday with first public practice Saturday. In
- 6:15top news, climate change will wipe out about
- 6:18$1 trillion in United States home values over
- 6:22the next three decades and hasten economic gaps
- 6:25in United States communities. A report released
- 6:28on Monday finds. Already high insurance rates
- 6:32are escalating, rendering large portions of the
- 6:35nation's largest cities unaffordable, according
- 6:38to a study by First Street Foundation. As property
- 6:42values across the country decline by almost $1
- 6:45trillion in total, other properties will increase
- 6:49in value to the tune of $244 billion. By 2055,
- 6:56climate -driven weather is expected to hike homeowners'
- 6:59insurance premiums nationwide by an average of
- 7:0229 .4%. At the same time, climate -related migration
- 7:07will have 55 million Americans relocating within
- 7:11the United States over that 30 -year period,
- 7:15beginning with more than 5 million this year.
- 7:19Jeremy Porter, First Street's head of climate
- 7:21implications research states climate change is
- 7:24no longer a theoretical concern. It is a measurable
- 7:28force reshaping real estate markets and regional
- 7:31economies across the United States. The three
- 7:35biggest Sun Belt states, California, Florida,
- 7:38and Texas, have taken on more than 40 % of the
- 7:42country's $2 .8 billion in natural disaster costs
- 7:47since 1980. data estimates a more than fourfold
- 7:51increase in premiums in Miami, a tripling in
- 7:54Jacksonville and Tampa, and a doubling in Sacramento,
- 7:57California. Some counties in California, Florida,
- 8:02and Texas will experience net declines of 10
- 8:05% to 40 % in their property values by 2050. Last
- 8:12month saw dozens of people killed, tens of thousands
- 8:14evacuated. and thousands of structures damaged
- 8:18or destroyed in the Los Angeles area due to wildfires.
- 8:23In business news Goldman Sachs has created a
- 8:27new platform to expand its offerings for wealthy
- 8:30clients and family offices who increasingly want
- 8:33direct stakes in fast -growing private companies
- 8:36CNBC has learned. The new group called the Alternative
- 8:41Investments Platform combines Goldman's existing
- 8:44alternatives business with two newly established
- 8:47teams, according to a memo seen first by CNBC.
- 8:51These teams focus on direct investments in individual
- 8:55private companies and on helping clients buy
- 8:57and sell those stakes. There's been a lot of
- 9:01focus on the big growth tech names. Kristin Olson,
- 9:04Goldman's global head of alternatives for wealth,
- 9:07told CNBC. Goldman's move reflects two major
- 9:11trends reshaping Wall Street. The firm has spent
- 9:15years pushing deeper into wealth and asset management
- 9:18for steadier revenues. Successful startups are
- 9:21staying private longer, allowing early investors
- 9:24to capture most gains. Companies are going public
- 9:28at a trillion dollars, Solson said. Goldman has
- 9:31been arranging direct investments in later stage
- 9:34private companies for wealthy clients for roughly
- 9:37two decades. The firm's goal is to help clients
- 9:41identify promising companies before they become
- 9:44household names. Goldman focuses on later stage
- 9:47companies with established products, meaningful
- 9:50revenue, and clearer paths toward profitability.
- 9:55The AI investment boom has intensified demand,
- 9:58steering clients toward investments in the infrastructure
- 10:01underpinning AI. The announcement comes days
- 10:04after Goldman reported record quarterly revenue.
- 10:07highlighting AI -driven activity across its businesses.
- 10:12The announcement formalizes Goldman's growing
- 10:14business, helping clients find liquidity for
- 10:17private investments. Through its new secondary
- 10:20advisory group, the firm plans to expand a marketplace
- 10:23for clients to buy and sell private holdings.
- 10:28Olson stated, we said, let's break that out and
- 10:31let's make it very clearly defined as something
- 10:33that we're leaning into. In crypto movement,
- 10:37Bitcoin is down 1 % to about $66 ,000. Ethereum
- 10:43is down 1 % to just over $1 ,900. And XRP is
- 10:49down 1 % to $1 .13. Moving on to a more local
- 10:56vibe. In our community spotlight on health and

- 11:42Let's talk tech. Alphabet investors have expressed
- 11:46concerns about the company's substantial artificial
- 11:49intelligence spending, but recent earnings suggest
- 11:52a positive outlook. Google's cloud business is
- 11:56thriving, with revenue soaring 82 % to $24 .8
- 12:00billion, surpassing analysts' expectations. Enterprise
- 12:05artificial intelligence solutions and infrastructure
- 12:08played a significant role in this growth. The
- 12:12company's profit reached $112 .1 billion, a remarkable
- 12:17increase from last year's profit of $28 .1 billion.
- 12:23Google services revenue also grew by 15 % to
- 12:27$94 .5 billion. CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized
- 12:33the transformative impact of artificial intelligence
- 12:36investments across the business. And in entertainment
- 12:42news, Taylor Sheridan's two -part Yellowstone
- 12:46spinoff is officially CBS' newest smash hit.
- 12:51Nobody can accuse Sheridan of making predictable
- 12:53television as he mixes things up, but he almost
- 12:57always guarantees viewers. Despite dividing critics
- 13:00and audiences, Marshall's has continued to attract
- 13:04millions of viewers, making it the biggest broadcast
- 13:07hit of the entire television season. According
- 13:11to Nielsen's final 35 -day multi -platform ratings
- 13:14for the 2025 to 2026 television season, Marshall's
- 13:19finished as the most -watched broadcast television
- 13:22series, attracting $19 .3 million viewers. However,
- 13:27it is receiving the weakest critical reception
- 13:30of any Yellowstone spin -off, sitting at 48 %
- 13:34on Rotten Tomatoes from critics. Returning cast
- 13:38members include Breckin Merrill and Moe Brings
- 13:41Plenty, while CBS renewed the series for a second
- 13:44season just 12 days after its premiere. You can
- 13:48stream Marshalls on Paramount+. Well, alrighty
- 13:52folks, it's time for the quote of the day. And
- 13:56today, they. And that's a wrap for this morning.
