Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: During the oath as well. But a note about my
- 0:02Speaker 1: family real quickly. Today would have been my father's one
- 0:05Speaker 1: hundred and fourteenth birthday. Colonel Atkins was a veteran of
- 0:10Speaker 1: World War Two and Korea, and yesterday would have been
- 0:13Speaker 1: my late mother's birthday. And so it seems altogether altogether
- 0:17Speaker 1: fitting to honor them and the example that they've set
- 0:21Speaker 1: so that their son could stand.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Here speaking to you all today.
- 0:25Speaker 1: So to my friends, my family, my colleagues who've worked
- 0:27Speaker 1: with me throughout my career and helped make my appointment
- 0:31Speaker 1: by President Trump even possible, thank you for your work
- 0:35Speaker 1: and dedication. There are many who quietly serve the nation
- 0:38Speaker 1: in mostly unsung roles, and I continue to be the
- 0:41Speaker 1: beneficiary of your patriots or your professionalism and good judgment.
- 0:45Speaker 1: So at the helm of the SEC, I can confidently
- 0:49Speaker 1: say it is a new day.
- 0:50Speaker 2: It's time for the.
- 0:51Speaker 1: SEC to end its waywardness and return to its core
- 0:55Speaker 1: mission that Congress set for it, investor protection, fair orderly
- 0:59Speaker 1: and the efficient markets and capital formation. I will work
- 1:03Speaker 1: to protect investors from fraud, keep politics out of how
- 1:06Speaker 1: our securities laws and regulations are applied, and advance clear
- 1:11Speaker 1: rules of the road that encourage investment in our economy
- 1:14Speaker 1: to the benefit of Americans. A top priority in my
- 1:18Speaker 1: chairmanship will be to provide a firm regulatory foundation for
- 1:21Speaker 1: digital assets. Through a rational, coherent, and principled approach, we
- 1:27Speaker 1: will work to ensure that the United States is the
- 1:30Speaker 1: best and most secure place in the world to invest
- 1:33Speaker 1: into do business. So, mister President, again, thank you very
- 1:36Speaker 1: much for your graciousness and extending such a warm welcome
- 1:40Speaker 1: to my family and need today in this storied room.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I look forward to working with you, with colleagues and
- 1:46Speaker 1: your administration and with Congress to advance your agenda to
- 1:50Speaker 1: bolster the economy and build on US leadership of the
- 1:54Speaker 1: global markets.
- 1:55Speaker 2: So thank you, very thank you for every da Thank you.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Any questions football?
- 2:01Speaker 2: Oh you Scoff's the man?
- 2:03Speaker 1: Can you provide a I guess what is your sense
- 2:06Speaker 1: of how that CFTC.
- 2:07Speaker 4: And the SEC will differ when it comes to cryptoregulation.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Uh? I hope that we won't.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Uh.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Bryantonton's whom the president that's nominated, is a great guyvernment
- 2:17Speaker 1: them for years, and I you know, I intend to
- 2:20Speaker 1: work closely with him and I really look forward to
- 2:23Speaker 1: his leadership there. I think there's no reason why the
- 2:26Speaker 1: two agencies can't be working cheek the jowl on these
- 2:30Speaker 1: UH issues for the American investor in the American economy
- 2:33Speaker 1: is the right and.
- 2:34Speaker 2: The view on UH China with thoughts in you.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Uh, well, that's uh. There's that's a subject of UH statutes.
- 2:41Speaker 1: UH and Comngress has acted and honey, I I look
- 2:44Speaker 1: forward to diving.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Into those issues.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Ms rockins Uh do you have a sense well the
- 2:49Speaker 1: Democratic Commissioner continue in her role. I I her her term.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I guess uh goes uh through the well ended last year,
- 2:58Speaker 1: and I guess uh she can hold over till the
- 3:01Speaker 1: end of the year.
- 3:02Speaker 2: So it's.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Mister President and in Congress to deal with that.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Mister President. On China, your Press secretary has suggested that
- 3:13Speaker 4: some progress is being made, our negotiations actively underway. And
- 3:18Speaker 4: do you agree with Secretary Besant who has suggested that
- 3:21Speaker 4: the current standoff with China is not sustainable.
- 3:25Speaker 2: We're doing fine with China, We're doing fine with every
- 3:28Speaker 2: I think almost every country.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Everybody wants to have involvement with the United States. As
- 3:34Speaker 3: you know, we were losing five billion dollars a day
- 3:38Speaker 3: when during the Biden administration.
- 3:40Speaker 2: During that last year was a horror show.
- 3:42Speaker 3: What they were doing on trade, five billion dollars a day,
- 3:46Speaker 3: and now we have it down to a very low
- 3:47Speaker 3: number because we're getting twenty five percent from the automobile industry.
- 3:51Speaker 3: From autos, we're getting twenty five percent for steel, twenty
- 3:55Speaker 3: five percent for aluminum, and we're getting the baseline of
- 3:59Speaker 3: ten percent. And think of it, we're losing almost two
- 4:03Speaker 3: trillion dollars on trade and those days are gone.
- 4:06Speaker 2: We're not going to do that again. We're not going
- 4:08Speaker 2: to let that happen.
- 4:09Speaker 3: We're being ripped off by almost I don't say every
- 4:11Speaker 3: but very close to every country, everywhere, everywhere in the world,
- 4:16Speaker 3: just being ripped off left and right. You had no leadership,
- 4:19Speaker 3: you had people that didn't know what they were doing.
- 4:22Speaker 3: And we're going to turn the country around. You know.
- 4:24Speaker 3: We have a very nice phrase, make America great again.
- 4:27Speaker 3: That's what we're going to do, and it's going to
- 4:29Speaker 3: start with trade. We're doing really well. I see the
- 4:32Speaker 3: stock market was up nicely. But this is a transition
- 4:36Speaker 3: period and it's going to be a little while, but
- 4:40Speaker 3: we are doing well with every country.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Ultimately, we have something they want and you have to
- 4:46Speaker 2: view it that way.
- 4:46Speaker 3: We have something they want, and they want very badly,
- 4:50Speaker 3: and you know it's going to be they're coming in,
- 4:53Speaker 3: they're taking treasure, they're taking jobs when they do that,
- 4:57Speaker 3: and they have to pay, and they don't have to
- 4:58Speaker 3: pay if they come in in create their own jobs,
- 5:01Speaker 3: you know, if they if they do their product here,
- 5:03Speaker 3: if they build their product or make their product.
- 5:05Speaker 2: In the United States. We have absolutely no tariffs, and.
- 5:08Speaker 3: We welcome people, but we're taking in a lot of
- 5:12Speaker 3: money from tariffs, and our country is getting stronger all
- 5:15Speaker 3: the time because the other was not sustainable.
- 5:20Speaker 4: With China.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Are you going to play hard ball with them, Well,
- 5:25Speaker 1: I'm not going to say no.
- 5:26Speaker 3: I'm not going to mention COVID. I'm not going to say, oh,
- 5:28Speaker 3: I'm going to play hardball with China.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I'm going to play hardball with you. President. She No.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Now, we're going to be very nice. They're going to
- 5:36Speaker 3: be very nice, and we'll see what happens. But ultimately
- 5:39Speaker 3: they have to make a deal because otherwise they're not
- 5:42Speaker 3: going to be able to deal in.
- 5:44Speaker 2: The United States.
- 5:45Speaker 3: So we want them involved, but they have to and
- 5:48Speaker 3: other countries have to make a deal and if they
- 5:50Speaker 3: don't make a deal, we'll set the deal because we're
- 5:54Speaker 3: we're the ones that set the deal, Scott and Howard
- 5:58Speaker 3: and myself and others. We're going to be setting the
- 6:01Speaker 3: deal and it'll be a fair deal for everybody, and
- 6:05Speaker 3: it'll be I think it's a process that's going to
- 6:07Speaker 3: go pretty quickly.
- 6:08Speaker 2: We've spoken to many, many countries and we're getting their
- 6:12Speaker 2: views on things.
- 6:13Speaker 3: You know, there are a lot of things they have
- 6:14Speaker 3: vat taxes, they have they have everything you can have.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Don't forget as an example of the European Union was
- 6:21Speaker 3: set up to take advantage of the United States.
- 6:24Speaker 2: That's why it was set and they've done that. But
- 6:28Speaker 2: they're not doing that anymore. Yeah, will you allow.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Will you prevent a mouse from having any role in
- 6:34Speaker 1: governing a post war in Gaza?
- 6:36Speaker 2: And we will Gaza. Will a mouse have to be
- 6:38Speaker 2: permanently eravocated for a seat.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Well, we're not going to let Harmas do that, and
- 6:42Speaker 3: we're going to see what happens with Gaza. But we've
- 6:45Speaker 3: made a lot of progress in the Middle East, tremendous.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Should it never happened that date, that very special date,
- 6:52Speaker 3: October seventh, should have never happened. It would have never
- 6:55Speaker 3: happened if I were president. But we'll be stopping that
- 6:58Speaker 3: whole situation.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Yeah, please, very.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Arc high as they are now actually are trade.
- 7:06Speaker 2: In the United States. I'm sure one hundred and forty
- 7:10Speaker 2: five percent is very high. And it won't be that high.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Not gonna be that high. It got up to there.
- 7:16Speaker 3: We were talking about Fenton hal where you know, various
- 7:20Speaker 3: elements built it up to one hundred and forty five.
- 7:22Speaker 2: No, it won't be anywhere near that high.
- 7:27Speaker 3: It'll come down substantially, but it won't be zero.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Used to be zero. We were just destroyed.
- 7:34Speaker 3: China was taking us for a ride and just not
- 7:38Speaker 3: gonna have It's not gonna happen. We're gonna be very
- 7:41Speaker 3: good to China, have a great relationship with Presidentcy. But
- 7:45Speaker 3: they would make billions and billions and billions of dollars
- 7:51Speaker 3: a year and they would build their military out of
- 7:53Speaker 3: the United States and what they made, so that won't happen.
- 7:56Speaker 3: But they're going to do very well, and I think
- 7:58Speaker 3: they're going to be happy, and I think we're gonna
- 8:00Speaker 3: lived together very happily and ideally work together.
- 8:03Speaker 2: So I think it's going to work out.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Very well, but no, it's at one hundred and forty
- 8:07Speaker 3: five percent. There will not be anywhere near that number.
- 8:16Speaker 1: We're a happy.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Right now. Oh, it's amazing what they've done on the borders.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Thank you for the question, because honestly, it's one of
- 8:24Speaker 3: the great successes. We have virtually nobody coming in illegally.
- 8:28Speaker 3: We do have people coming in legally, because we want people.
- 8:30Speaker 2: To come in, but we have nobody coming in through
- 8:33Speaker 2: the border virtually.
- 8:35Speaker 3: That we were having hundreds of thousands of people a
- 8:39Speaker 3: month come in under Biden, and they came in from prisons,
- 8:42Speaker 3: they came in from mental institutions, they came in from
- 8:45Speaker 3: gangs and Venezuela and other countries all over.
- 8:48Speaker 2: The world, not just South America.
- 8:50Speaker 3: They were emptying their prisons into the United States. Venezuela
- 8:54Speaker 3: emptied its persons out, but many countries emptied their prisons
- 8:58Speaker 3: into the Congo as an example in Africa, emptied their
- 9:02Speaker 3: prisons into the United States. And we're getting them out,
- 9:05Speaker 3: and I hope we get cooperation from the courts because
- 9:09Speaker 3: you know, we have thousands of people that are ready
- 9:12Speaker 3: to go out, and you can't have a trial for all.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Of these people. It wasn't meant.
- 9:18Speaker 3: The system wasn't meant, and we don't think there's anything
- 9:21Speaker 3: that says that. Look, we are getting some very bad people, killers, murderers,
- 9:26Speaker 3: drug dealers, really bad people, the mentally ill, the mentally insane.
- 9:32Speaker 3: They emptied out insane asylums into our country. We're getting
- 9:36Speaker 3: them out, and a judge can't say, no, you have
- 9:39Speaker 3: to have a trial that let's the trial is going
- 9:42Speaker 3: to take two years, and no, we're going to have
- 9:44Speaker 3: a very We're going to have a very dangerous country
- 9:47Speaker 3: if we're not allowed to do what we're entitled to do.
- 9:50Speaker 3: And I want an election based on the fact that
- 9:52Speaker 3: we get them out, and we've done an amazing job.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Look, we've stopped.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Everybody admits, even the radical left. We have got the
- 9:59Speaker 3: strong youngest border we've ever had, even stronger than what
- 10:02Speaker 3: I had for four years.
- 10:04Speaker 2: We had a great border. We solved the problem.
- 10:07Speaker 3: But it's actually it's a tad stronger, which is I
- 10:11Speaker 3: don't know if that's disappointing or not to me. I
- 10:13Speaker 3: beat my own record, but I appreciate the question.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Thank you, Daniel, you.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Know how well, Thank you, Daniel. The question is about prices.
- 10:39Speaker 3: The prices are going down, not going up. One of
- 10:42Speaker 3: the big things is energy is going down. I see
- 10:45Speaker 3: that we had a couple of states where gasoline was
- 10:47Speaker 3: at a dollar and ninety eight cents a gallon. Nobody
- 10:51Speaker 3: thought they'd see that for years maybe, And that's a
- 10:55Speaker 3: big thing. And we opened up our wells, we opened
- 10:59Speaker 3: up our drilling. We have more product now for sale,
- 11:03Speaker 3: and we're also going to be selling outside of the country.
- 11:05Speaker 2: To a large extent.
- 11:06Speaker 3: It going to bring down our deficits largely going to
- 11:09Speaker 3: bring down our deficits. But if you remember my first week,
- 11:13Speaker 3: I was standing here, Paul, and they were screaming about eggs.
- 11:16Speaker 3: The cost of eggs have gone through the roof. They
- 11:18Speaker 3: were up like five hundred crazy, like four or five times.
- 11:23Speaker 3: And we won't have eggs for Easter. They were saying,
- 11:25Speaker 3: will be no eggs, You can't order eggs. They wanted
- 11:27Speaker 3: to sort of plastic in the shape of eggs. Well,
- 11:31Speaker 3: yesterday we had forty eight thousand people at the Easter hunt.
- 11:36Speaker 3: They caught the Easter roll at the White House and
- 11:40Speaker 3: we had all eggs. And as you know, the cost
- 11:42Speaker 3: of eggs has come down like ninety three ninety four
- 11:45Speaker 3: percent since we took office and they're pretty much normally
- 11:50Speaker 3: priced now at great job or Secretary of Agriculture Brook
- 11:53Speaker 3: Rawlins diad a very good job. But groceries have come down.
- 11:57Speaker 3: It's all coming down. The only thing that has in
- 12:00Speaker 3: come down but hasn't gone up much your interest rates,
- 12:02Speaker 3: and we think the Fed should lower the rate. We
- 12:05Speaker 3: think that it's it's a perfect time to lower the rate,
- 12:08Speaker 3: and would like to see our chairman be early or
- 12:11Speaker 3: on time as opposed to late late's late's not good.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I don't want to talk about that because I have
- 12:19Speaker 2: no intention of firing.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Giving us some kind of poll us and.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Sounds sounds like a good idea to me. Yeah, please, no.
- 12:34Speaker 4: Intention because you're.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Said that you and people selling this idea hand.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Whatsoever?
- 12:47Speaker 3: Never did the press runs away with things now. I
- 12:50Speaker 3: have no intention of firing him. I would like to
- 12:53Speaker 3: see him, uh be a little more active in terms
- 12:56Speaker 3: of his idea to lower interest rates. Just it's a
- 13:00Speaker 3: perfect time to lower interest rates. If he doesn't is
- 13:04Speaker 3: at the end, No, it's not, but it would be
- 13:06Speaker 3: good timing. It would be which could have taken place earlier.
- 13:10Speaker 3: But no, I have no intention to fire him.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I don't want to come into that. That doesn't matter.
- 13:18Speaker 2: You have seen the spies which documents. I don't know.
- 13:24Speaker 2: I'll speak to the Attorney General about that. I really
- 13:27Speaker 2: don't know.
- 13:28Speaker 3: I know that we've done we've done the RFK to
- 13:32Speaker 3: Kennedy Martin Luther King is out there very shortly, so
- 13:36Speaker 3: we'll find out. But we've and we've we've really really
- 13:39Speaker 3: announced uh we're doing him in full transparency. You know,
- 13:45Speaker 3: when we did uh JFK, people will say, oh, maybe
- 13:49Speaker 3: it wasn't all.
- 13:50Speaker 2: It was all and people.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Actually went up to the office and they looked at
- 13:54Speaker 3: some things that were, you know, not really easily available,
- 13:58Speaker 3: and they were amazed that we we gave it all.
- 14:00Speaker 3: And I don't know if it solved any problems for people.
- 14:04Speaker 3: People still have questions one way or the other, but
- 14:06Speaker 3: that I'm not but of all of these documents are
- 14:10Speaker 3: being delivered.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Yeplease, miss President.
- 14:13Speaker 4: You said you're ultimately going to make a deal with China,
- 14:15Speaker 4: But where do they stand right now?
- 14:17Speaker 3: Have you talked the same relationship? My relationship with presidentcy
- 14:22Speaker 3: is great.
- 14:23Speaker 2: It was, It's been great for a long time. We've
- 14:26Speaker 2: got a very good relationship, and I think we'll make
- 14:28Speaker 2: a deal with China. If we don't make a deal,
- 14:32Speaker 2: we'll set it.
- 14:32Speaker 3: We'll just set the number. And you know, I think
- 14:34Speaker 3: they'll want to be a part of the United States.
- 14:36Speaker 3: We're doing great, We're gonna this is the golden age.
- 14:39Speaker 3: As Paul said, we're talking about the golden age. It
- 14:41Speaker 3: will never be a time like this in my opinion.
- 14:45Speaker 3: And uh, China wants to be a part.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Of that too. I have, I have Uh, I'll keep
- 14:58Speaker 2: that to myself. Are you very personal?
- 15:02Speaker 1: Tariffcassicus course of just sharp.
- 15:05Speaker 4: Brought out China.
- 15:07Speaker 3: You know, I think that everyone's going to do well
- 15:08Speaker 3: in this country because of tariffs. We have seven trillion
- 15:13Speaker 3: dollars of investment already. You can go back many years
- 15:17Speaker 3: and for a whole year, they haven't had anywhere near that.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Mostly they would they'd be well under a trillion dollars
- 15:22Speaker 3: of investment, and we've got seven trillion. We really started
- 15:27Speaker 3: five weeks ago and in just a few weeks literally,
- 15:31Speaker 3: we have seven trillion, which is a record for a year.
- 15:33Speaker 3: There's never been a year with that much. And that's
- 15:36Speaker 3: coming in I think for two reasons. It's coming because
- 15:38Speaker 3: of an election that people liked, and it's coming in
- 15:41Speaker 3: because of tariffs. And if you look at Apple, Apple's
- 15:45Speaker 3: going to start building here right now. They're in China
- 15:48Speaker 3: mostly five hundred billion dollars. We have the computer all
- 15:53Speaker 3: of the computer chip companies that are coming in at
- 15:55Speaker 3: levels that nobody's ever seen before. As you know, Jensen
- 15:59Speaker 3: came in for five hundred billion dollars. You saw that
- 16:03Speaker 3: great guy, highly respected, mister Way coming in for two hundred,
- 16:07Speaker 3: two hundred and fifty billion dollars. Nobody's ever seen anything.
- 16:10Speaker 3: And the auto companies are coming in. We can I
- 16:14Speaker 3: can name eight right now already auto plans that are
- 16:18Speaker 3: either starting or about ready to start construction. There's never
- 16:21Speaker 3: been in the United Auto Workers and the non union
- 16:25Speaker 3: workers in the automobile Indy see, they they love Trump
- 16:29Speaker 3: and I love them. Thank you all very much, thank you,
- 16:31Speaker 3: Congratulations Paul
