- 1:37Speaker 3: the point for you, I'll know that we're going. Ladies
- 1:39Speaker 3: and gentlemen, welcome to another episode of Racing With The Boys.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Our guest today is an individual who won a championship
- 1:45Speaker 3: in 2018, 2022, and 2024. This individual actually hates odd numbers.
- 1:50Speaker 3: He's loved to be hated by some of the fan base,
- 1:52Speaker 3: but that's the stuff that absolutely fuels him. This man
- 1:55Speaker 3: doesn't mind. a little altercation when it comes to getting
- 1:58Speaker 3: out of a race.
- 1:59Speaker 2: He doesn't mind.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Mixing it up with the boys a little bit. An
- 2:01Speaker 3: individual is an absolute legend. Give it up for Joey Logano.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Wow. Thank you guys. He doesn't mind getting into a tussle.
- 2:08Speaker 3: He doesn't mind just absolutely shaking it up with the
- 2:10Speaker 3: boys a little bit. We were reading, you've had a
- 2:12Speaker 3: couple of legendary shakeups.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I have. A couple of legends.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Is there one that comes to mind that you're like,
- 2:16Speaker 3: hell yeah, that was a hundred percent worth it?
- 2:18Speaker 2: Um, Gosh, you know, in the moment, they're all worth it.
- 2:22Speaker 2: And then later on, you sometimes wonder, especially like I
- 2:25Speaker 2: got kids now. I got five kids. Five?
- 2:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:28Speaker 2: We'll unpack that in a second. And they're like, yeah.
- 2:30Speaker 3: I'm going to teach you about something called contraceptives. We'll
- 2:33Speaker 3: get into that in a little bit.
- 2:34Speaker 2: It's a little like, yeah, do as I say, not
- 2:37Speaker 2: as I do situation. And the bad part is it
- 2:40Speaker 2: all lives on YouTube, right? So like it just, it
- 2:42Speaker 2: never goes away. Yeah. You know, so the dumb things
- 2:45Speaker 2: you did when you were a teenager or early 20s
- 2:47Speaker 2: is now, there for life. Um, but yeah, I mean,
- 2:51Speaker 2: it's racing, right? I mean, it's part of it. Sometimes
- 2:53Speaker 2: you get some altercations. You don't see eye to eye
- 2:55Speaker 2: on things and sometimes things escalate a little bit more
- 2:59Speaker 2: than they probably should. Yeah.
- 3:01Speaker 1: And do you have an alter ego?
- 3:04Speaker 2: Uh, maybe I'd say when I get in a race car,
- 3:07Speaker 2: maybe you guys are the same way when you play,
- 3:08Speaker 2: when you play football, like you put your helmet on
- 3:11Speaker 2: and you, you kind of switch gears. Like you can be,
- 3:15Speaker 2: I think a normal person joke around, have fun. you know,
- 3:18Speaker 2: be lighthearted normally. But I think when it's game time,
- 3:21Speaker 2: it's game time. Like you're out for blood at that point.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Like get out of the way. Like I am here
- 3:25Speaker 2: to win and I have to do what I have
- 3:28Speaker 2: to do to try to win. So I, I don't know.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I think it's just part of being competitive. I think
- 3:33Speaker 2: that's pretty normal. I think.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Do you have like a, you call yourself anything?
- 3:36Speaker 2: No.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Like me, I like in my head, I was comp nasty.
- 3:40Speaker 2: You were calm nasty? You said that to yourself?
- 3:43Speaker 1: Teammates called me that in college and I just, I've
- 3:45Speaker 1: always kind of- And.
- 3:46Speaker 2: So you kind of went with it?
- 3:46Speaker 3: As soon as you got the nickname, you're like, I'm
- 3:48Speaker 3: going to roll with that.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Calm nasty. So you were calm like all the time?
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it was- Calm, but nasty. Yeah, we'll, you know- Calm,
- 3:55Speaker 1: not calm. We'll calm during the- Oh, okay. You know,
- 3:57Speaker 1: during regular life, but then when the helmet came on,
- 3:59Speaker 1: it was calm nasty.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Nasty. Yeah.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I like it. Or really be the gorilla.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I like it.
- 4:02Speaker 1: That's what my dad called me.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Okay.
- 4:03Speaker 2: The gorilla.
- 4:04Speaker 1: It's depending on how I was feeling. It's like put
- 4:06Speaker 1: the women and children in the bed. It's time to
- 4:08Speaker 1: go die on this football field.
- 4:09Speaker 2: I love that.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Yeah, there was always Saturdays or Sundays, whether you're in
- 4:13Speaker 3: college or NFL. The thought process was always like, if
- 4:16Speaker 3: I die today, we're in a good spot. This is
- 4:19Speaker 3: a great day to end it all.
- 4:22Speaker 2: That's what you get.
- 4:22Speaker 3: That's the brainwashing that takes place when you're in football, man.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Did you have any nicknames growing up or anything like that?
- 4:28Speaker 2: I did. I've been called a lot of things now,
- 4:31Speaker 2: but sliced bread was the joke. And like, you know,
- 4:36Speaker 2: as a kid, like that's like everyone had their little
- 4:39Speaker 2: nicknames growing up. Mine just stuck with me and it
- 4:41Speaker 2: never really went away. It's the next best thing, right?
- 4:44Speaker 2: That was cause, so when I was growing up racing,
- 4:46Speaker 2: I was supposed to be like the next, like Jeff Gordon,
- 4:48Speaker 2: like I was supposed to be the dog. And, and
- 4:51Speaker 2: my career kind of went down before it went up. Right.
- 4:55Speaker 2: As a child, I was coined as the next best
- 4:58Speaker 2: thing since sliced bread and the sliced bread thing kind
- 4:59Speaker 2: of went for a while and it never really went away.
- 5:02Speaker 3: As a child and you're hearing like the nickname sliced bread,
- 5:05Speaker 3: everyone's like, this is the next one. Like, what does
- 5:06Speaker 3: that pressure feel like? How old are you when you
- 5:08Speaker 3: first get that nickname?
- 5:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm like. 13, 14 years old.
- 5:11Speaker 3: So yeah, you're going through testosterone. You're starting to get
- 5:14Speaker 3: hair in unfamiliar places. You're not knowing what's what and
- 5:17Speaker 3: what's going on.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I drank the Kool-Aid. Yeah, you drank the Kool-Aid. Absolutely.
- 5:21Speaker 2: As you should. Well, a lot of lessons learned on
- 5:24Speaker 2: the whole thing, right?
- 5:25Speaker 1: But I did.
- 5:26Speaker 2: And there's enough people telling you that you're great. Eventually,
- 5:29Speaker 2: you're going to start believing that. And for me, my
- 5:33Speaker 2: career was the youngest to do about everything, right? I
- 5:37Speaker 2: was always... bump in my age, like just to get
- 5:39Speaker 2: into the next league. Um, shoot, I had a fake
- 5:43Speaker 2: burst of fear for a little bit that allowed me
- 5:44Speaker 2: to go racing before I got busted, but I raced
- 5:46Speaker 2: above like where I should have been for a while.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And so all this hype just kind of kept following
- 5:51Speaker 2: me all the way until, you know, I'd signed to
- 5:53Speaker 2: Joe Gibbs racing when I was 15 to go race
- 5:56Speaker 2: there and jumped right into now the O'Reilly series, um,
- 6:02Speaker 2: and was able to win my third race. So like,
- 6:03Speaker 2: it was all like coming to, There's even a commercial
- 6:07Speaker 2: NASCAR put out about me moving to the cup level.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Like it was just about me. And so I believed
- 6:12Speaker 2: all of it. Now I finally got to the cup level,
- 6:14Speaker 2: which is the dogs, right? The best of the best.
- 6:17Speaker 2: And I got my butt kicked for three years straight,
- 6:21Speaker 2: lost my job, like was out, was 21 years old, wondering, oh,
- 6:26Speaker 2: this is all I ever did my whole life. I
- 6:28Speaker 2: didn't have a backup plan. All the eggs were in racing.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Like there's no other basket. And, and then just really
- 6:35Speaker 2: by the grace of God, the 22 car opened up
- 6:37Speaker 2: back in, you know, what was that? What year was that? Shoot,
- 6:42Speaker 2: I remember what year, 15, 16 years ago, or I know,
- 6:45Speaker 2: I guess it was like 14 years ago. The car
- 6:48Speaker 2: opened up and I've been in the same car driving
- 6:51Speaker 2: for Ford, driving for Shell for that long now. So
- 6:54Speaker 2: it's just really been the same ever since. I've just
- 6:56Speaker 2: been lucky to have a second chance, right? And once
- 7:00Speaker 2: you go into something, you're already, You've made the mistakes.
- 7:03Speaker 2: You've learned who you are. You learned where to be better.
- 7:06Speaker 2: And you can start with a fresh start and a
- 7:08Speaker 2: new team. Gosh, that was exactly what I needed. I
- 7:11Speaker 2: didn't know I needed it. Right. Because at the time
- 7:13Speaker 2: I thought, oh, my gosh, my career is over. Yeah.
- 7:15Speaker 2: But then everything kind of turned around just where it
- 7:17Speaker 2: needed to.
- 7:18Speaker 1: How was that for you mentally being on, you know,
- 7:20Speaker 1: being put on such a pedestal and then getting your
- 7:22Speaker 1: ass whipped for three years? And like you're saying, you
- 7:24Speaker 1: think your career is over. How was that for you
- 7:26Speaker 1: mentally as you're trying to get back into it?
- 7:28Speaker 2: Right. I mean, it's one thing if you're an underdog. right?
- 7:32Speaker 2: If you're the underdog and you get your butt kicked,
- 7:33Speaker 2: you're kind of like, well, I wasn't supposed to win anyways.
- 7:36Speaker 2: But when you're the favorite going into whether it's a
- 7:39Speaker 2: game or your career, like you're the prodigy, whatever it
- 7:42Speaker 2: may be, you're the expectation is so high that you
- 7:46Speaker 2: feel like you have let down everybody, right? Like not
- 7:50Speaker 2: just yourself or your parents or like your team itself,
- 7:54Speaker 2: your sponsors, like your fans, everyone's looking at you like
- 7:57Speaker 2: you were supposed to be something and you were the
- 7:59Speaker 2: best thing that never happened, right? And that's the worst feeling.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure there's feelings worse than that, obviously,
- 8:06Speaker 2: but because in the grand scheme of things, you're driving
- 8:09Speaker 2: a race car.
- 8:10Speaker 3: You put yourself on this pedestal, you don't meet the mark.
- 8:12Speaker 3: And then that feeling that comes with it.
- 8:14Speaker 2: And yeah, who's the fingers pointed at? There's only one
- 8:16Speaker 2: person to point the finger at, is me. And yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 2: this is just super challenging to go through that. But you,
- 8:23Speaker 2: like I said, you get a second chance. Not very
- 8:26Speaker 2: often you get a second chance like I got, right?
- 8:29Speaker 2: Like it really, honestly, the car opened up by chance.
- 8:33Speaker 2: It wasn't supposed to be there. They were in a bind.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Team Penske was, and they needed someone that was not
- 8:39Speaker 2: going to do things that were like, I didn't go out,
- 8:43Speaker 2: I didn't go drink. I was focused on racing. That's
- 8:47Speaker 2: all I did. And so it was very safe for
- 8:50Speaker 2: them to have me and the team needed to grow.
- 8:53Speaker 2: I needed to grow at the same rate. It's not
- 8:56Speaker 2: like When I started at Gibbs, I jumped in the
- 8:59Speaker 2: 20 car. It was Tony Stewart's ride. They won two championships.
- 9:02Speaker 2: They knew exactly how to do it. And now it's
- 9:04Speaker 2: just a plug into that as a 19 year old.
- 9:07Speaker 2: And it just didn't work. Like it just didn't mesh.
- 9:10Speaker 2: This was a team that, boy, they were pretty new, fresh,
- 9:14Speaker 2: young team. I was young. I needed something that has
- 9:17Speaker 2: that security and it just grew together. And it's just
- 9:20Speaker 2: been more natural that way.
- 9:22Speaker 3: What about jumping into Stewart's old car and it's like, hey,
- 9:25Speaker 3: plug and play. You're supposed to be the next thing.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Like what didn't go well for you in those first
- 9:30Speaker 3: three years?
- 9:30Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, on paper, on paper, it was perfect. Right.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Like my whole trajectory of my career, I moved up,
- 9:39Speaker 2: got one immediately in the O'Reilly series. And at the time,
- 9:45Speaker 2: you were the youngest, right?
- 9:46Speaker 1: I was the youngest.
- 9:47Speaker 2: This is sliced bread category. Yeah, I was doing it.
- 9:49Speaker 1: 18 years old.
- 9:50Speaker 2: And then Tony Stewart went to start his own race team.
- 9:53Speaker 2: So my whole plan was to run a full year
- 9:55Speaker 2: of O'Reilly racing before I moved up. Well, I ran
- 9:59Speaker 2: eight races. and they're like, well, Tony's moving on. The
- 10:02Speaker 2: 20 cars opened up. We're going to put you in it.
- 10:04Speaker 2: And I'm like, yeah, I'm ready. I'm kicking butt already
- 10:08Speaker 2: in the one series down, like one level down. I'm
- 10:11Speaker 2: going to be great. Yeah. Put me in. I'll be great.
- 10:14Speaker 2: And I didn't realize I sucked. Like I didn't realize
- 10:17Speaker 2: everybody was so good. And for one, I didn't know
- 10:21Speaker 2: how to lose. I never lost as a kid growing up.
- 10:24Speaker 2: I just could show up and win. So I didn't
- 10:25Speaker 2: have to work hard. That was the number one thing.
- 10:28Speaker 2: It was a blessing and a curse because I was
- 10:31Speaker 2: on one hand had so much natural talent and was
- 10:35Speaker 2: able to be in the car so much. It was
- 10:36Speaker 2: enough to get me there. but it didn't teach me
- 10:40Speaker 2: the mental side of sports that I needed, right? The
- 10:43Speaker 2: mental toughness that you need to be successful in sports
- 10:46Speaker 2: and how to deal with that type of pressure and
- 10:49Speaker 2: deal with the loss, right? And how to get over it,
- 10:52Speaker 2: move on, like learn from it, move on quickly. I
- 10:54Speaker 2: didn't know how to do all that. So it took
- 10:58Speaker 2: me a couple of years to, for one, understand that
- 11:01Speaker 2: it's not the car, it's me, right? Like, and then
- 11:04Speaker 2: starting to understand, okay, where is my weaknesses? And how
- 11:08Speaker 2: do you build up any confidence, right? Like if you
- 11:11Speaker 2: get your butt kicked weekly, you start to show up
- 11:14Speaker 2: to the racetrack thinking, okay, how am I going to
- 11:16Speaker 2: get beat today? Right? Not how am I going to
- 11:18Speaker 2: win today?
- 11:19Speaker 3: The mental warfare that takes place between the ears.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Yes. It's big time. It's tough, but, and it's a
- 11:24Speaker 2: slow growth to get to, you can't, I don't know
- 11:26Speaker 2: how to do it. Maybe you guys can, but I
- 11:27Speaker 2: can't fake that in my mind, right? Like I can't
- 11:31Speaker 2: lie to myself. And like, oh, I'm going to, I'm
- 11:34Speaker 2: going to win today. Well, you finished 30 at the
- 11:35Speaker 2: last three weeks, you know, like what makes you think
- 11:37Speaker 2: you're going to win? Like, it's hard to believe that,
- 11:39Speaker 2: but it's a slow growth to get to that point.
- 11:41Speaker 2: I believe. No doubt.
- 11:43Speaker 3: The delusion is, is very important. What, like when you
- 11:46Speaker 3: look at football, it's like the things you can't teach
- 11:49Speaker 3: is like high weight, speed, athletic ability, things that guys
- 11:52Speaker 3: are just clearly born with. Like I'm tall, I was athletic.
- 11:56Speaker 3: So I was, I had had a step to be like, okay,
- 11:59Speaker 3: if I do X, Y, and Z, I could probably
- 12:01Speaker 3: make it to the NFL.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Sure.
- 12:02Speaker 3: As a racer and a casual viewer, it's like, okay,
- 12:05Speaker 3: we're pressing a pedal. I don't know the intricate details
- 12:08Speaker 3: of how to operate a car with the bubble and
- 12:11Speaker 3: the vortex and we've got the bumpers to the bumpers
- 12:13Speaker 3: and making the moves.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Atta boy, we've learned a little bit.
- 12:15Speaker 2: We've operated a little bit.
- 12:17Speaker 3: What are the intangibles as a driver that made you
- 12:20Speaker 3: slice bread? Everyone was like, this kid is the truth.
- 12:23Speaker 3: He is winning every single time. What are the intangibles
- 12:25Speaker 3: of NASCAR for a driver?
- 12:27Speaker 2: For a driver to have? I mean, there's a natural
- 12:30Speaker 2: speed part, right? Yeah. physically you don't, it's not like
- 12:35Speaker 2: other sports where you size matters, right? Like physically size
- 12:39Speaker 2: doesn't matter a whole bunch when you're driving a race car, right?
- 12:41Speaker 2: And you look at, I mean, some guys are tall, some,
- 12:45Speaker 2: I mean, with Kyle Larson, he's a shoe and he's,
- 12:48Speaker 2: Pretty small guy. Hilarious reference for any person in the world.
- 12:52Speaker 2: I don't want to graze by calling somebody a shoe.
- 12:54Speaker 2: That is amazing. He's a wheel man.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I don't know. He's a driver.
- 12:58Speaker 2: He's pretty dang good, in other words. The size doesn't matter.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I think there's a certain amount of God-given ability to
- 13:06Speaker 2: feel the car and be able to adapt quickly and
- 13:09Speaker 2: figure out where speed is. But I think a lot
- 13:12Speaker 2: of our sport, to get good at it, it's like
- 13:16Speaker 2: You got to study it. You got to be a
- 13:18Speaker 2: student of the sport. You got to be in the
- 13:19Speaker 2: car a lot. You got to be driving things all
- 13:22Speaker 2: the time, no matter what it is. I think just driving,
- 13:25Speaker 2: just that reputation is important. But nowadays, the little details
- 13:31Speaker 2: is what separates everyone. Because once you get to the top,
- 13:35Speaker 2: everybody's got a lot of talent. There's no one really
- 13:38Speaker 2: standing out from each other. There might be a couple
- 13:40Speaker 2: stand out that are just God-given talent. but you can
- 13:43Speaker 2: beat them by being smarter than them quite a bit.
- 13:46Speaker 2: And that's kind of my thing. Like, I feel like, um,
- 13:49Speaker 2: I got a decent amount of speed and decent amount
- 13:51Speaker 2: of talent, but I feel like I can outsmart the
- 13:55Speaker 2: majority of the drivers out there by just knowing what's
- 13:58Speaker 2: coming my way. I've done this for a long time now.
- 14:00Speaker 2: So I got a lot of experience on my side too,
- 14:01Speaker 2: but knowing what, what is coming my way next and
- 14:05Speaker 2: understanding where the car is going to go over a
- 14:07Speaker 2: long run or, Uh, the flow of the race, the
- 14:10Speaker 2: strategy of the race, those types of things. That's where
- 14:12Speaker 2: I can separate myself, right. Or, or the pressure of the,
- 14:15Speaker 2: of the chase coming up here, right. And next week
- 14:18Speaker 2: or two, like knowing all that's coming, that's, that's like
- 14:21Speaker 2: our moment to thrive. Like that's how we've won our
- 14:24Speaker 2: championships in the past. It hasn't been being the fastest car.
- 14:27Speaker 2: We're very rarely the fastest car over a course of time, right?
- 14:30Speaker 2: We don't typically win the most races in the season
- 14:33Speaker 2: compared to others. But we show up when it matters.
- 14:36Speaker 2: We show up when the pressure's on. Our team doesn't
- 14:38Speaker 2: crack under that type of pressure. The leadership side from
- 14:42Speaker 2: our team, I feel like, is what separates us from
- 14:45Speaker 2: the field. That's our strength. That's the strength that we
- 14:47Speaker 2: play into. And so this time of the year when
- 14:49Speaker 2: the pressure's on, that's when the 22 typically shows up.
- 14:54Speaker 2: That's got to be a great feeling.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Going back to.
- 14:59Speaker 1: When you alluded to the first couple of years, you
- 15:03Speaker 1: realized it wasn't the car. It was more yourself. When
- 15:06Speaker 1: did you start to have a breakthrough moment where it
- 15:08Speaker 1: was this conversation with yourself on you're kind of seeing
- 15:12Speaker 1: everything or you're blaming things externally where it all kind
- 15:14Speaker 1: of went to shit and then the come up started
- 15:17Speaker 1: to happen again for you?
- 15:18Speaker 2: When your teammates are kicking your ass. That's really what
- 15:21Speaker 2: it is because your teammates have the same cars. They're
- 15:25Speaker 2: built from the same shop. They're right next to each
- 15:27Speaker 2: other when they're being built. And there may be a
- 15:29Speaker 2: little small differences, but you should run close to your teammates. Yeah.
- 15:36Speaker 2: You know, and at the time my teammates were Kyle
- 15:38Speaker 2: Busch and Denny Hamlin, right? Both shoes. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Both couple of shoes. Couple of shoes. Yeah. And so
- 15:46Speaker 2: I had a great benchmark there, but I wasn't even close.
- 15:50Speaker 2: They were winning. I was finishing 25th. Like it wasn't
- 15:53Speaker 2: even in the ball game. And eventually- I got to where,
- 15:58Speaker 2: you know, I could run with them every now and again.
- 16:00Speaker 2: You know, I won one race here and there. Like
- 16:03Speaker 2: I eventually started getting close, but it was too little
- 16:05Speaker 2: too late.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:06Speaker 2: You know, they already went out there and found another
- 16:08Speaker 2: driver to replace me. And right when I started getting decent,
- 16:13Speaker 2: I was told that I'm out. So I was like, oh,
- 16:16Speaker 2: it's just, I'm too late. And the options for me
- 16:19Speaker 2: at that moment, I remember it was, there was no
- 16:23Speaker 2: cup option at Gibbs. So I can run a, at
- 16:27Speaker 2: the time it was a bush car right so you
- 16:28Speaker 2: can run which is the o'reilly series now um so
- 16:31Speaker 2: i can go down a level which gosh once you
- 16:34Speaker 2: go down the chances of going back up like you're
- 16:36Speaker 2: already a marked man at that point yeah you're probably
- 16:39Speaker 2: not going to um i had i had an opportunity
- 16:42Speaker 2: to drive for for petty and at the time that
- 16:46Speaker 2: was probably the direction i was going to go to
- 16:49Speaker 2: stay in the cup level now their cars at the
- 16:50Speaker 2: time and the cars are pretty good now but at
- 16:52Speaker 2: the time their cars weren't super fast so you're like
- 16:55Speaker 2: okay i'm gonna get in a lesser car and that's
- 16:57Speaker 2: not ideal either but and you're all the whole time
- 17:01Speaker 2: you're thinking as a child all you want to do
- 17:02Speaker 2: is win championships in the cup level like that's all
- 17:04Speaker 2: i ever wanted to do and i'm like well i'm
- 17:05Speaker 2: taking a step back this isn't maybe it's not even
- 17:07Speaker 2: gonna happen and then like i'm telling you the 22
- 17:11Speaker 2: car opens up and i'm like oh my god like
- 17:13Speaker 2: middle of the year they're in a bind they just
- 17:15Speaker 2: lost their driver and and i'm the available guy The
- 17:19Speaker 2: only one. Like here, here I am. So there was
- 17:22Speaker 2: no competition. By the grace of God, that's the only
- 17:24Speaker 2: way it could have happened. This car opens up and
- 17:26Speaker 2: there's no, there's not like a list of dudes that
- 17:28Speaker 2: are like. There's me and one, there's me and one other.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Who was it? Sam Hornish. Sam Hornish. Sam Hornish drove
- 17:33Speaker 2: for Penske, uh, at the time and, um, and raced
- 17:37Speaker 2: Indy cars, had a relationship with him and all that.
- 17:39Speaker 2: And so, uh, You know, so it was kind of
- 17:41Speaker 2: between the two of us. Was there like an interview
- 17:43Speaker 2: process that took place? There was. Yeah. Clearly it went well.
- 17:47Speaker 2: It went well. I met with Roger. I met with
- 17:51Speaker 2: the leadership at Shell. And they liked me enough to
- 17:55Speaker 2: do it. Okay. I said the right things. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Told them what they wanted to hear in the moment.
- 18:00Speaker 2: I guess. And they took a chance on me. I
- 18:04Speaker 2: am so loyal and appreciative to both Shell and and Ford,
- 18:10Speaker 2: Ford was there too. But in, in Roger Penske, like there's,
- 18:13Speaker 2: that's my family. Those are my people, right? Like I
- 18:16Speaker 2: am a very loyal person who was like, if, if
- 18:19Speaker 2: you do that for me, you we're in like, we're,
- 18:21Speaker 2: we're going to do this to the end. And, um,
- 18:23Speaker 2: it's been a real special time together. Um, you know, the,
- 18:26Speaker 2: the relationship I've built with Roger Penske over, you know,
- 18:30Speaker 2: the last, like I said, almost 15 years to see
- 18:33Speaker 2: just the way he operates his business, uh, whether it's
- 18:37Speaker 2: the racing stuff or what you see, you know, with
- 18:40Speaker 2: the Penske truck leasing going on the road or car dealerships.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I just bought a Ford car dealership here recently and
- 18:46Speaker 2: Roger's been teaching me how to run a dealership, right?
- 18:48Speaker 2: Like those things have been so valuable, right? Or even
- 18:51Speaker 2: just seeing what the other race they had around the
- 18:53Speaker 2: Capitol in DC this weekend, right? Like that was Penske
- 18:56Speaker 2: entertainment putting that on. That's amazing, you know? So to
- 18:59Speaker 2: see that they have their hands on that many things
- 19:01Speaker 2: and you can learn from the absolute best, what else
- 19:05Speaker 2: could you ask for? Like I said, like it's how
- 19:08Speaker 2: it all happened is just unbelievable how I've gotten to
- 19:11Speaker 2: this point. Yeah.
- 19:12Speaker 3: And you talked about how this happened 14 years ago
- 19:15Speaker 3: that Penske gives you the opportunity.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:17Speaker 3: So we're sitting around the 2012. You didn't win your
- 19:20Speaker 3: first championship until 2018. What was the relief that took
- 19:25Speaker 3: place when you won your first cup series? After everything
- 19:28Speaker 3: that's taken place, you're sliced bread, then you're kicked to
- 19:30Speaker 3: the curb. You know who you are, your whole life
- 19:32Speaker 3: you've been racing, but now racing doesn't seem like it's
- 19:34Speaker 3: an option for you. You could go back down, but
- 19:36Speaker 3: you never could come back up. Now you get an option.
- 19:38Speaker 1: You get to recreate yourself.
- 19:39Speaker 3: You get to recreate yourself six years later. So there's
- 19:42Speaker 3: a whole lot more time that takes place.
- 19:43Speaker 2: There was.
- 19:44Speaker 3: And you win a cup series. How does that feel
- 19:46Speaker 3: for you? Like you were right. Like, hey, maybe I am.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Sliced bread. Are we back to being sliced bread now? No,
- 19:53Speaker 2: I refuse to ever drink the Kool-Aid again. You don't
- 19:55Speaker 2: even eat bread anymore.
- 19:55Speaker 1: You've been carb-less since 2012.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. I refuse to think I'm that good.
- 20:00Speaker 2: That's why I said earlier, like, I don't think I
- 20:02Speaker 2: am that talented.
- 20:03Speaker 1: So, you're not a shoe?
- 20:04Speaker 2: No. I mean, I'm somewhat half a shoe. Half a shoe.
- 20:08Speaker 2: As long as it's the right foot, I'm all right.
- 20:10Speaker 2: But I refuse to let myself ever go down that
- 20:13Speaker 2: path again. Right. Because I feel like it was, like
- 20:15Speaker 2: I said, a blessing and a curse that got me there,
- 20:17Speaker 2: but it hurt my career, almost killed my career, right?
- 20:19Speaker 2: To where it didn't happen. So, I will never let
- 20:22Speaker 2: my head get big again. Like that slice of humble
- 20:24Speaker 2: pie is, it is burnt into my mind and it
- 20:27Speaker 2: was exactly what I needed, but I don't ever want
- 20:30Speaker 2: to be there again.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Um, so I, that feeling is something I never let
- 20:34Speaker 2: myself forget, no matter what kind of success we have
- 20:37Speaker 2: on the racetrack. Um, but yeah, I mean, throughout the,
- 20:40Speaker 2: those years, yeah, there was, there was signs of hope.
- 20:43Speaker 2: We were starting to win races. We won four or
- 20:45Speaker 2: five races consistently a year. We got close to winning championships.
- 20:48Speaker 2: We came up a little short. but there's no moment
- 20:51Speaker 2: like your first championship. There's just, there's nothing like it.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Cause at that moment, you've finally proven that you can
- 20:58Speaker 2: do it, right? Like there's, there's a lot of, uh,
- 21:02Speaker 2: you know, you came close, but didn't quite get there,
- 21:04Speaker 2: but you know, you can win cause you're, you got
- 21:05Speaker 2: to the, you know, the Superbowl, right? The championship for
- 21:08Speaker 2: our final race. Like you got there. That means you're
- 21:10Speaker 2: good enough to do it. Well, no, it doesn't mean
- 21:12Speaker 2: you can do it until you actually do it. And, and,
- 21:15Speaker 2: that moment of crossing the start finish line, shoot, I
- 21:18Speaker 2: remember like the last five laps I passed Truex for
- 21:20Speaker 2: the lead. Um, and you know, you just clicking laps off.
- 21:25Speaker 2: I had a pretty good size lead and you just like,
- 21:26Speaker 2: you start shaking a little bit. Like I remember my, well,
- 21:29Speaker 2: you're like, you know, you're like, I was nervous. My
- 21:31Speaker 2: hands were shaking. My foot was shaking on the gas pedal.
- 21:34Speaker 2: I'm like, geez, like, and you're just waiting for something
- 21:36Speaker 2: to go wrong. You know, you just get to the
- 21:38Speaker 2: end of this fricking thing. And when you finally come
- 21:40Speaker 2: off four and you see the checkered flag, there is
- 21:42Speaker 2: nothing like it. Um, even to this day, right? Like
- 21:47Speaker 2: getting married's really special, right? So having kids, really special.
- 21:51Speaker 2: That's probably a top moment for most people. It's a
- 21:52Speaker 2: top moment, but it's a different category.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Yeah, it's different. It's different.
- 21:57Speaker 2: But come and run the money and get married. Anybody
- 21:59Speaker 2: can get married if you think about it.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Yes, yes.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Most people can have kids. Sure. Not everybody can get
- 22:05Speaker 2: a checkered flag on time. Well, it's just different categories
- 22:09Speaker 2: in life, right? Like all of them are equally as
- 22:11Speaker 2: special as where I.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Was going with this.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Okay.
- 22:14Speaker 1: That's definitely not where you landed the plane. No, I
- 22:16Speaker 1: was going over here.
- 22:17Speaker 2: We were headed towards B & A and we landed
- 22:19Speaker 2: in Atlanta.
- 22:19Speaker 1: I don't know where you're going.
- 22:20Speaker 2: You guys went there. I was still flying over there.
- 22:23Speaker 2: We must have parachuted out. You guys took a different
- 22:25Speaker 2: route on me.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Being married is great. Kids are great, but college.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Coming around that turn and seeing that checkers climb. Well,
- 22:30Speaker 2: it's just a different category. Yeah. And it's just, it was,
- 22:34Speaker 2: you get out and you, like, it's weird in a
- 22:36Speaker 2: race car because, you know, you win a football game,
- 22:39Speaker 2: everybody's right there, right? Your team's right there. You're celebrating
- 22:41Speaker 2: immediately together. In a race car, like you're by yourself
- 22:46Speaker 2: for a moment of time, right? You win, you're stoked
- 22:48Speaker 2: and you're like wanting to high five and nobody there,
- 22:50Speaker 2: you know, like I got nothing. So the moment of
- 22:54Speaker 2: crossing the line is special. But when you get out
- 22:55Speaker 2: of the car and you see everybody that fought with you,
- 22:59Speaker 2: that's the best. Like that first 10 minutes, is what
- 23:03Speaker 2: you work for. Like that moment, and it's so hard
- 23:06Speaker 2: to replicate, but that is the moment that you work for,
- 23:09Speaker 2: just for that feeling.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Does it kind of suck how fleeting it is?
- 23:13Speaker 2: How like short?
- 23:14Speaker 1: 2019, yeah, yeah. 2019, it's like, fuck, we gotta go racing.
- 23:19Speaker 1: We gotta do it again. Now it doesn't even matter.
- 23:20Speaker 1: 2018 doesn't even matter anymore.
- 23:22Speaker 2: You get 10 to 15 minutes of just pure greatness, awesome,
- 23:27Speaker 2: pure emotion. Can't even put it into words to describe it.
- 23:31Speaker 2: And it's over. And you're like, that's it.
- 23:34Speaker 1: But it was amazing.
- 23:35Speaker 2: And then, but you immediately, you got to have it again.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Like somehow you got to get it again.
- 23:40Speaker 1: You win.
- 23:41Speaker 3: So how long did it last you? 24 hours of
- 23:43Speaker 3: the hype of winning a championship?
- 23:45Speaker 2: I don't think it's even that, it's not even that long.
- 23:46Speaker 2: What'd you do that night? Did you cry? I cried
- 23:49Speaker 2: in victory lane a little bit.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I did.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yeah. That's good. Good cry is awesome. I mean, it's
- 23:54Speaker 2: happy tears. I mean, it's just amazing. Like You know,
- 23:57Speaker 2: it wasn't necessarily like, I didn't cry by myself, but
- 23:59Speaker 2: it was when you saw people, right? Like I saw
- 24:02Speaker 2: my wife or I saw my parents and it's like,
- 24:04Speaker 2: because you know the grind that they went through with you, right?
- 24:07Speaker 2: Those are the people that you confide to, right? The
- 24:09Speaker 2: people that you, at home after a bad race, they're
- 24:13Speaker 2: the ones supporting you. So when you see those type
- 24:16Speaker 2: of people that were with you in the hardest moments,
- 24:19Speaker 2: those are the ones that makes you break down a
- 24:22Speaker 2: little bit more. You know what I mean? No doubt.
- 24:23Speaker 2: That's human. That's okay. That's 100% okay. Absolutely. Do you
- 24:28Speaker 2: get after it pretty good that night?
- 24:30Speaker 1: No.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Went to bed at 9 p.m. No, that's how we
- 24:34Speaker 2: got on the track. It's close to midnight. We drove
- 24:36Speaker 2: up to, it was in Miami this year. Well, it
- 24:39Speaker 2: is again this year too, but last year, or 2018
- 24:41Speaker 2: it was. So we drove up to Miami. The team
- 24:45Speaker 2: was already getting after it by the time I got
- 24:47Speaker 2: up there. That's awesome. Yeah. I'm not that crazy when
- 24:50Speaker 2: it comes to that stuff.
- 24:51Speaker 3: The championship, the first championship you won was in 2018.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Yep.
- 24:54Speaker 3: The championship this year. Sorry, in 18 was in Miami.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Championship this year is also in Miami.
- 25:00Speaker 2: That's right.
- 25:00Speaker 3: You have a habit of hitting those even numbers in
- 25:02Speaker 3: this 2026. Started off the season pretty slow. You rattled
- 25:06Speaker 3: off a couple wins, I think two of the last four.
- 25:08Speaker 3: We feel pretty good.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Feel much better than it was.
- 25:11Speaker 3: And it's the old format, right? 2018, it's the same
- 25:13Speaker 3: format as 2018?
- 25:14Speaker 2: No. That's right. That was actually Will's comment, but.
- 25:16Speaker 3: I was just covering for him right there. Everything else
- 25:19Speaker 3: was good before though, because that was my stuff.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Is there a part of you that feels like you
- 25:21Speaker 1: got to, you know, not have to get this one,
- 25:24Speaker 1: but kind of like- I want to get this one
- 25:27Speaker 1: so badly because the other ones you won in the
- 25:29Speaker 1: old playoff format where people kind of, they have their
- 25:32Speaker 1: talking points of, yeah, but he was 15th.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Handled the elimination rounds, the best one, the championship match. Like,
- 25:40Speaker 1: was he the best driver that year?
- 25:43Speaker 2: See, like those things, those comments irk me. I mean,
- 25:46Speaker 2: it's like, it gets, I basically just threw it at you.
- 25:50Speaker 2: People do say that. And like, it happens in all sports, right? There's,
- 25:55Speaker 2: there could, you can have a mediocre regular season and
- 25:58Speaker 2: you get into playoffs and you get on a hot
- 25:59Speaker 2: run and you go win the championship. Like that happens.
- 26:02Speaker 2: It happens in every sport.
- 26:04Speaker 1: New York Giants, Eli Manning, taking down the undefeated Patriots.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Right. Right. And does that mean they didn't deserve to
- 26:09Speaker 2: win the championship?
- 26:11Speaker 1: No.
- 26:11Speaker 2: No, they, cause they went and played by the rules.
- 26:14Speaker 2: They came from behind and they went and won. Yeah.
- 26:17Speaker 2: They deserve it.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Right.
- 26:19Speaker 2: So all, in my opinion, that's how we've always done it. Um, and,
- 26:24Speaker 2: But at the same time, I'm kind of like, there's
- 26:25Speaker 2: a bit of a chip on my shoulder. Yeah, I
- 26:27Speaker 2: want to be like, you know what? That's fine. We'll
- 26:30Speaker 2: do it this way too. I'll show you. So that
- 26:32Speaker 2: is our motivation to go out there and win this
- 26:35Speaker 2: thing again. I think we got a good shot at
- 26:37Speaker 2: it again this year. Cars are getting faster again. I
- 26:40Speaker 2: don't know if I believe in the whole even year thing,
- 26:42Speaker 2: but it does seem to be that way. It's kind
- 26:44Speaker 2: of fun to believe. This year, I believe it. Next year,
- 26:48Speaker 2: I won't. This year, we'll jump on that bandwagon and
- 26:53Speaker 2: we'll give it a shot. But I do think from
- 26:57Speaker 2: where we were two months ago to where we are now,
- 26:59Speaker 2: it's like two months ago, we were hoping to make
- 27:01Speaker 2: the chase, forget win the championship. Now it's like, okay,
- 27:04Speaker 2: we're in a pretty good spot and we got speed.
- 27:06Speaker 2: We can see a path to winning this thing. which
- 27:11Speaker 2: would be the comeback story of all time. It would
- 27:14Speaker 2: be the middle finger to all the haters. Sorry, but
- 27:19Speaker 2: that is my motivation a little bit. I love our fans,
- 27:22Speaker 2: but man, I love rubbing something in somebody's face when
- 27:24Speaker 2: you think you can't do it. When someone says you can't,
- 27:26Speaker 2: you're like, watch me.
- 27:29Speaker 1: That's what I need to hear.
- 27:31Speaker 3: How often do you look at the comments and stuff
- 27:33Speaker 3: like that to get that little extra boost of motivation?
- 27:35Speaker 2: Probably too much. Not, not that much. I can honestly,
- 27:38Speaker 2: I'm not on social media that much, but I hear it.
- 27:41Speaker 2: I see it, you know, and, and fine. Like I'm
- 27:46Speaker 2: okay with it.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Right.
- 27:47Speaker 2: I kind of like learned to love it a little
- 27:48Speaker 2: bit because I don't, I don't know exactly why sometimes
- 27:52Speaker 2: people don't choose to like me, but I think a
- 27:56Speaker 2: lot of times I just don't know who I am. Right.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Like I'm an aggressive racer again, back to the helmet
- 28:00Speaker 2: on helmet off. I helmet goes on. I'm pretty aggressive.
- 28:03Speaker 2: I'm going to go out there to win and you're
- 28:04Speaker 2: out for blood. And then, take your helmet off and
- 28:06Speaker 2: you're joking around, having a good time laughing. I think
- 28:09Speaker 2: a lot of people don't understand how that's possible. Like
- 28:11Speaker 2: how can you be two different people? Yeah. But it's
- 28:14Speaker 2: just who I am and that's what it is. So
- 28:17Speaker 2: I don't let people get under my skin too much from,
- 28:21Speaker 2: from attacking me personally from like my, who I am.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Cause I know who I am, but from a attacking,
- 28:28Speaker 2: what a championship means, and that my team doesn't deserve it,
- 28:32Speaker 2: that pisses me right off. Yeah. You know, like that's
- 28:35Speaker 2: what makes me angry.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Well, the haters can say whatever they want. At the
- 28:37Speaker 3: end of the day, like your Wikipedia is going to
- 28:38Speaker 3: say champion in these specific years and those aren't. So
- 28:42Speaker 3: that's how this is all going to operate. I'm sure
- 28:44Speaker 3: it would be amazing to have this 2026, the new format.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Or the backfield format and everything.
- 28:48Speaker 1: What do you feel like has changed over the last
- 28:50Speaker 1: couple of months internally, like with your team? Because again,
- 28:52Speaker 1: you go half the regular season winless. You rattle off the,
- 28:56Speaker 1: you know, two out of the last four. What do
- 28:57Speaker 1: you feel like changed internally with your squad?
- 29:00Speaker 2: Well, honestly, internally, the people haven't changed, right? It's the
- 29:04Speaker 2: same team that's won the championship, you know, a couple
- 29:07Speaker 2: of years ago. So, and it's the same team that
- 29:10Speaker 2: struggled earlier this year. And it's the same team that's
- 29:12Speaker 2: riding away right now. Um, so I think the fact
- 29:15Speaker 2: that we've stuck together is good. Now there's been hard
- 29:17Speaker 2: conversations in there of right. How do we become better?
- 29:20Speaker 2: I like, it was embarrassing where we were in points
- 29:24Speaker 2: and the way we were running. Like it's, it's not
- 29:26Speaker 2: who we are. Um, And again, what do you look
- 29:30Speaker 2: at first internally? You look at yourself. Where am I off?
- 29:33Speaker 2: Where am I struggling? How can anyone help me get
- 29:36Speaker 2: to where I need to be? Right. And how can
- 29:38Speaker 2: I help myself? Obviously. Um, and then where's the other
- 29:40Speaker 2: weaknesses on the team? Where else are we struggling to,
- 29:43Speaker 2: to do things? And, um, so there was some things identified.
- 29:46Speaker 2: There was, you know, some, some work that was done. Um,
- 29:50Speaker 2: and it's just slow, slow little things that showed up. Right. Like,
- 29:53Speaker 2: and it eventually started building a little bit of momentum
- 29:55Speaker 2: over the last year, the last four races, um, looks spectacular,
- 30:00Speaker 2: but really you go back a couple months, it's like,
- 30:02Speaker 2: you can start to see the trend. Like it started
- 30:04Speaker 2: to be the slow climb back up.
- 30:07Speaker 1: It's like an example of one of the small things
- 30:09Speaker 1: that started.
- 30:09Speaker 2: To show up. Yeah, it was like one specific thing.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I mean, speed fixes most of it.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Right?
- 30:14Speaker 2: Just being faster. You say speed.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Exactly. People talk about speed all the time. You're in that,
- 30:20Speaker 1: like in my brain or viewers' brains that are similar
- 30:22Speaker 1: to us.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Press the pedal harder.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Like you're in a NASCAR. Like you guys all got
- 30:26Speaker 1: the speed.
- 30:26Speaker 2: We call them stock cars, but they're not really stock.
- 30:29Speaker 2: There's nothing stock about it. Make the thing faster. Yeah.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Let go. I think there's multiple things, right? There's some
- 30:35Speaker 2: gains that we've made as a team, setup wise, that
- 30:38Speaker 2: has made sense on the racetrack. Like just getting the
- 30:41Speaker 2: car to drive the way I want it to, the
- 30:43Speaker 2: way I feel. I think those are good. NASCAR is.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Does that become a point of contention on whether it's
- 30:49Speaker 1: something with the equipment of the car?
- 30:50Speaker 2: It just.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Where you're like, I would like for it to be
- 30:52Speaker 1: this way. And somebody sees it differently. Um, no, no.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Uh, it's just finally like we hit on something. Like
- 30:59Speaker 2: you keep changing things to the car. It's like all
- 31:00Speaker 2: of a sudden, Oh, there's something that makes sense. I
- 31:02Speaker 2: like that. How can we apply that to other tracks?
- 31:04Speaker 2: How can we start applying that in different ways? And,
- 31:07Speaker 2: and all of a sudden that started growing. So I
- 31:09Speaker 2: think that's part of it. Um, NASCAR started enforcing a
- 31:12Speaker 2: new rule with the front splitter, which I think some
- 31:14Speaker 2: other teams were taking more advantage of than we were.
- 31:16Speaker 2: And that's part of NASCAR racing is how far are
- 31:19Speaker 2: you willing to push a lot of things? And, you know,
- 31:22Speaker 2: I've been a part of the bad end of it.
- 31:24Speaker 2: When you get in trouble for this stuff, it's really bad.
- 31:27Speaker 2: So you can't afford to push these things and get
- 31:29Speaker 2: your like you can't get in trouble anymore. The brands
- 31:33Speaker 2: are too big around you. It's just you can't do
- 31:38Speaker 2: that type of stuff. And some teams are willing to
- 31:39Speaker 2: take more risk. And the more risk you take, the
- 31:42Speaker 2: faster your car is going to go. The higher chance
- 31:45Speaker 2: you're going to get in trouble if you ever get caught.
- 31:48Speaker 2: I think there are some things going on that were
- 31:50Speaker 2: a little bit past what our comfort zone is. And
- 31:55Speaker 2: those things came back. NASCAR started changing some of the
- 31:57Speaker 2: rules and forcing some of the things that people are
- 31:59Speaker 2: taking advantage of. And it came back to us.
- 32:01Speaker 1: We're talking about cars and PEDs?
- 32:04Speaker 2: We're talking PEDs and cars. We're talking about raising something
- 32:07Speaker 2: like that.
- 32:07Speaker 1: We're playing with the line a little bit. Let's get
- 32:10Speaker 1: this little injection. They had a little too much testosterone
- 32:12Speaker 1: in some of their cars. The levels weren't matching up
- 32:14Speaker 1: to the drug test.
- 32:16Speaker 2: I don't know how many rules are in the rule book,
- 32:18Speaker 2: but think about how many parts are on a race car.
- 32:22Speaker 2: When you're playing football, there's not many things you can
- 32:25Speaker 2: mess with. right? Like outside of the human body, maybe,
- 32:28Speaker 2: I don't know if you guys have any rules with
- 32:30Speaker 2: pads and shoes and football. Yeah, sure. The pressure in
- 32:33Speaker 2: the football, sure. Like that's a pretty big one. But
- 32:35Speaker 2: like outside of that, that's all you guys had. Like
- 32:40Speaker 2: a race car has got thousands of parts on it
- 32:44Speaker 2: and you can start to find a competitive edge on
- 32:46Speaker 2: every single one of those parts if you want to, right?
- 32:49Speaker 2: And in And the teams will, they will try to
- 32:51Speaker 2: find a little bit of it. So each time some
- 32:53Speaker 2: teams push us a little bit there or there, NASCAR
- 32:55Speaker 2: will come up with a new rule to bring that
- 32:58Speaker 2: back and say, okay, hell, we never thought that can happen.
- 33:00Speaker 2: We'll just make a rule to make sure that, you know,
- 33:02Speaker 2: because that's what the teams are paid to do. They're
- 33:03Speaker 2: paid to try to come up with things that makes
- 33:05Speaker 2: their car faster than the next one. Find the gray area.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Find the grays in the rule. Right. So then eventually
- 33:11Speaker 2: it becomes black and white instead of gray. Yeah. And
- 33:13Speaker 2: then you can't do that anymore. And I think some
- 33:15Speaker 2: of those things have brought back some of the cars
- 33:17Speaker 2: that were going really, really fast. and brought them to
- 33:19Speaker 2: us a little bit with our cars actually getting better
- 33:21Speaker 2: at the same time. And now we're here.
- 33:23Speaker 3: What were some gray areas? You don't have to say cars,
- 33:27Speaker 3: but things that were taking place that people were doing
- 33:28Speaker 3: with their cars that maybe were within the framework of
- 33:31Speaker 3: the rules that NASCAR changed this year.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Or like say, do use an example back in the
- 33:34Speaker 1: day if you want to.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, gosh, there's so many. Where
- 33:37Speaker 2: do you want to start? There's so many. Here recently,
- 33:40Speaker 2: it's been just a lot of the nose flexing stuff.
- 33:42Speaker 2: It's just how much the nose traveled on the racetrack
- 33:45Speaker 2: from what the tech heights are.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Okay, well, hold on. That's really cool what you just said.
- 33:50Speaker 3: I'm going to walk away from that and be like,
- 33:52Speaker 3: that was badass.
- 33:53Speaker 2: I don't know what that means though. So nose flexing.
- 33:56Speaker 2: So like the nose, the splitter, all that whole piece
- 33:59Speaker 2: is set at a height that NASCAR mandates it has
- 34:03Speaker 2: to be at to start. Okay. When you get on
- 34:05Speaker 2: the racetrack, there's obviously a lot of air moving around,
- 34:07Speaker 2: a lot of downforce, a lot of pressure, and things
- 34:11Speaker 2: will move under those conditions. And so- noses were probably
- 34:16Speaker 2: dropping more than others right because now there's struts there
- 34:20Speaker 2: to hold it up in other words so then that
- 34:22Speaker 2: doesn't happen as much anymore so some teams can maybe
- 34:26Speaker 2: be a little bit more aggressive with letting it flex
- 34:28Speaker 2: more some teams bodies themselves may just flex more like
- 34:32Speaker 2: a chevy versus a ford versus a toyota like all
- 34:35Speaker 2: those can be different um right so then some might
- 34:38Speaker 2: be getting a little better you know better advantage on
- 34:41Speaker 2: that than others Well, when they put a strut in there,
- 34:43Speaker 2: it holds everything up. Now all that, that game's gone, right?
- 34:46Speaker 2: So now that where we felt like, well, you're probably
- 34:49Speaker 2: a little behind there is come back to us, right?
- 34:52Speaker 2: You don't know exactly what your competitors have. It's not
- 34:54Speaker 2: like they let you crawl underneath their car and look
- 34:56Speaker 2: at it, you know what I mean? But you kind
- 34:57Speaker 2: of assume like, okay, and then seeing after that, like, okay,
- 35:00Speaker 2: things are starting to, we're in the game all of
- 35:02Speaker 2: a sudden after that. Like, you're like, all right, they
- 35:05Speaker 2: must've been pushing this a little bit more than us.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Cause now we're in the game before we're running 20th.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Now we're, now we're running, you know, fifth to 10th
- 35:13Speaker 2: can win in certain scenarios on the faster tracks that
- 35:16Speaker 2: we were behind. Like, okay, we're in the game now.
- 35:18Speaker 2: So that was probably the more recent one, but there's
- 35:21Speaker 2: those games are it's every week. Like that is constant
- 35:25Speaker 2: in our sport. That our sports kind of built off
- 35:29Speaker 2: of that. Like NASCAR racing back in the day, right.
- 35:32Speaker 2: When things started, when, It was a stock car that
- 35:36Speaker 2: people bought from the dealership showroom floor and then put
- 35:39Speaker 2: a cage in and made them race cars. There wasn't
- 35:43Speaker 2: any rules, right? There was barely any rules. Now, like,
- 35:46Speaker 2: think about it. Over the course of, what, 75 plus years,
- 35:50Speaker 2: now you have racing. thousands of rules because everyone just
- 35:56Speaker 2: keeps finding the next thing. Yeah. Yeah.
- 35:59Speaker 1: That's interesting.
- 36:00Speaker 2: It is. It really is interesting, man.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Like having the height correct, but it seemed like the
- 36:06Speaker 1: black and white was adding the strut.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Pretty much. I mean, it was black and white before,
- 36:10Speaker 2: but it's kind of like, okay, on the racetrack when
- 36:12Speaker 2: it moves.
- 36:13Speaker 1: But yeah, when everybody's going, when everybody's flying.
- 36:15Speaker 2: It's flexing. Yeah, exactly. So that stuff just changes.
- 36:17Speaker 1: What's under that hood? What's going on in the car?
- 36:19Speaker 3: Are there people, are they like NASCAR officials who go
- 36:23Speaker 3: and look at all the cars before the race to
- 36:25Speaker 3: make sure.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Everyone's up to speed?
- 36:26Speaker 1: Yes.
- 36:27Speaker 3: How was the latest time? Do the cars have to
- 36:29Speaker 3: be in pit row? Like National Anthem takes place in
- 36:32Speaker 3: 15 minutes. We got our guys all looking at it.
- 36:33Speaker 2: So the way it works right now is so the
- 36:35Speaker 2: cars will unload out of the trailer. They all roll
- 36:38Speaker 2: through tech. So what happens first is they put them
- 36:41Speaker 2: up on jack stands. There'll be officials that come by,
- 36:43Speaker 2: look at the cars. They'll look at whatever they want
- 36:46Speaker 2: to look at that weekend. It's hard to inspect every
- 36:48Speaker 2: piece of this thing, right? Because there's so many parts
- 36:50Speaker 2: and there's 40 cars. So they'll go through that. Then
- 36:53Speaker 2: they'll put the cars down to roll through scales. And
- 36:56Speaker 2: then they have a system called the... They call it
- 36:59Speaker 2: the Hawkeye. I think NASCAR might call it something different,
- 37:01Speaker 2: but we call it the Hawkeye, where it scans the
- 37:03Speaker 2: whole body. So you put it in this tent and
- 37:06Speaker 2: it takes... big picture of the car and it measures
- 37:10Speaker 2: the car, the body itself. And so all of it
- 37:13Speaker 2: has to be within tolerance of what NASCAR mandates. So
- 37:18Speaker 2: if you don't make it go around, you're out like
- 37:22Speaker 2: you're out, go back around, adjust your car to make
- 37:25Speaker 2: it fit. And then you try again. Right. So you
- 37:28Speaker 2: only get a, you only really get a couple of
- 37:30Speaker 2: tries at that to make it right. So all that
- 37:33Speaker 2: happens before the cars even get on the racetrack. Then
- 37:36Speaker 2: we have practice. We qualify right after. And then after
- 37:41Speaker 2: you're done qualifying, they put the cars in the garage.
- 37:43Speaker 2: No one's allowed to touch them. And then the next
- 37:45Speaker 2: morning you can make quick adjustments to your car, which
- 37:47Speaker 2: is just like heights and wedge and sway bar arms.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Like you can't do a whole bunch. We can do
- 37:52Speaker 2: some like fine tuning things, but you can't, that's it.
- 37:55Speaker 2: And there's an official watching every move that you guys make,
- 37:58Speaker 2: roll the cars on the grid and that's it. And
- 38:00Speaker 2: you erase. Then afterwards, you know, they take the top
- 38:03Speaker 2: three cars and they really tear them apart. That's where like,
- 38:07Speaker 2: that's when they like, it's, it's much more in depth
- 38:10Speaker 2: at that point. Like, so like after a race, when
- 38:13Speaker 2: it's a couple hours of tearing the car apart, where
- 38:16Speaker 2: like the car would just be a bunch of pieces.
- 38:18Speaker 2: I just look at literally everything. They're trying to, yeah,
- 38:21Speaker 2: you have to make it. And then that's their job. And,
- 38:23Speaker 2: and the teams appreciate that. And as a driver, I
- 38:25Speaker 2: appreciate that too. Cause you want a level playing field.
- 38:28Speaker 2: That's all you want, right? Like you don't want to
- 38:29Speaker 2: race against somebody. It's cheating their butt off over here.
- 38:32Speaker 2: You cannot possibly be because they are, cheating, straight up cheating, right?
- 38:38Speaker 2: Pushing the rules, I'm with you. That's part of our sport.
- 38:42Speaker 2: And you should be, trying to find the very edge, right? But,
- 38:46Speaker 2: you know, as far as straight up going too far,
- 38:49Speaker 2: you know, NASCAR's done a good job at it lately.
- 38:51Speaker 2: They've done a good job at reigning it. And they've
- 38:53Speaker 2: put some big penalties on people. That's what's done it. Right?
- 38:56Speaker 2: It's like, you're going to slap our hands or you're
- 38:58Speaker 2: going to put us in the ground. Like, which one
- 39:00Speaker 2: is it? And they have made the penalties so large
- 39:05Speaker 2: that I don't think there's many teams at all at
- 39:08Speaker 2: this point that are doing things that they shouldn't be doing,
- 39:11Speaker 2: in my opinion.
- 39:12Speaker 1: What are the penalties?
- 39:15Speaker 2: Dinero. So it's points of money are the penalties. And
- 39:20Speaker 2: the points are probably the most valuable thing. Money is real.
- 39:24Speaker 2: But the points that you can lose from some of
- 39:27Speaker 2: the stuff is like more than a race worth of
- 39:30Speaker 2: points of like a win worth of points. Like it
- 39:34Speaker 2: can take a few weeks to make up to just
- 39:36Speaker 2: get back to zero on some of these things. So, yeah,
- 39:41Speaker 2: it really does. pushes everyone back quite a bit. So yeah,
- 39:44Speaker 2: he's real with an iron fist. No one's going to
- 39:45Speaker 2: do anything. Yeah. Exactly.
- 39:47Speaker 3: A massive controversy that's taken place in recent years about
- 39:49Speaker 3: car people messing with cars a little too much.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Or is it that not anymore for a while? Not anymore.
- 39:54Speaker 2: It was, there was that going on. Now it's just
- 39:57Speaker 2: kind of come back a lot.
- 39:59Speaker 3: What about in the, like the O'Reilly series or some
- 40:02Speaker 3: of these other smaller issues? Is there more like Tom
- 40:04Speaker 3: Fuller we taking place?
- 40:05Speaker 2: And those are the name of that is governed as much.
- 40:08Speaker 2: I don't, I can't honestly tell you without, speculating a
- 40:13Speaker 2: little bit yeah fair but i think there's a little
- 40:15Speaker 2: more grace over there with with the cars and they
- 40:19Speaker 2: can push things a little bit further um i think
- 40:23Speaker 2: but i don't really know.
- 40:24Speaker 1: That did you do some top foolery back.
- 40:26Speaker 2: In the day I mean, I think everyone did a
- 40:28Speaker 2: little bit.
- 40:30Speaker 3: What's the sketchiest thing you've done in your racing career?
- 40:33Speaker 3: Not with the cup series, maybe as a young lad,
- 40:36Speaker 3: but okay. Actually, Hey, put that, put a, put a
- 40:40Speaker 3: bookmark on that. Let's go back to this fake birth certificate.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:44Speaker 3: How old were you when you, is this your mom
- 40:48Speaker 3: or your dad?
- 40:49Speaker 2: This is my dad. 12 with a 20 spot.
- 40:51Speaker 1: This is my dad.
- 40:52Speaker 2: My dad's a wide open guy. Um, And so like,
- 40:56Speaker 2: we just, my father had a garbage company up in Connecticut.
- 40:59Speaker 2: I always, that's where I started to race. That's where
- 41:01Speaker 2: I'm from. And then when we, he sold his garbage
- 41:05Speaker 2: company and he just focused on going racing with me
- 41:08Speaker 2: for the next like 10 years. And we had a
- 41:11Speaker 2: freaking blast together. It was so much fun. We just
- 41:13Speaker 2: went racing. He didn't ever race. He didn't know what
- 41:15Speaker 2: the heck he was doing. I didn't know what I
- 41:16Speaker 2: was doing. We just drive race cars and have a
- 41:19Speaker 2: good time. And so, We were so focused on it though,
- 41:23Speaker 2: because that's all we did. Like I was homeschooled. Really,
- 41:26Speaker 2: I just did all, really all I did is raced.
- 41:28Speaker 2: That was it. And so I was progressing pretty quickly
- 41:32Speaker 2: because the amount of time I was doing it. And
- 41:35Speaker 2: it got to the point, like my father believed that
- 41:39Speaker 2: you're only as good as your competition. So as soon
- 41:42Speaker 2: as I started winning at something, it was move up,
- 41:44Speaker 2: time to move up, time to move up. And eventually
- 41:47Speaker 2: you're bumped up against your age because you can't move
- 41:49Speaker 2: up until you get a certain age. And I wanted
- 41:52Speaker 2: to race these cars are called legends cars. Um, and
- 41:54Speaker 2: there was some tracks that let me race, but the
- 41:57Speaker 2: majority would not. And so when I turned, uh, when
- 42:02Speaker 2: I turned 10, I turned 12 one year. Oh, no way.
- 42:07Speaker 2: We had a guy on the inside that ran the
- 42:11Speaker 2: series and we're like, Hey, we're going to, he was like,
- 42:14Speaker 2: you know, send a new burst to get in and
- 42:16Speaker 2: we'll just dump it in your file. All right. Sounds good.
- 42:19Speaker 2: So we doctor it up and send it up there.
- 42:23Speaker 2: And it worked for quite a few races ran like,
- 42:27Speaker 2: I don't know, seven or eight races. And then I
- 42:31Speaker 2: remember we drove, I remember like it was yesterday. We
- 42:32Speaker 2: drove up to Charlotte. We got all our stuff ready
- 42:34Speaker 2: to go race. And they're like, yeah, you're not racing today.
- 42:36Speaker 2: I'm like, what do you mean? And I go, you're,
- 42:39Speaker 2: you're only 10. What do you mean? They come out,
- 42:42Speaker 2: there's two birth certificates. He didn't take the old one
- 42:45Speaker 2: out of the file. So he had the new one
- 42:48Speaker 2: and the old one.
- 42:48Speaker 1: We're like, oh.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Was there a penalty that took place there? Yeah, that's exactly. Yeah.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Something like that.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I am 12.
- 42:56Speaker 2: So your dad. It was the opposite of that. That
- 42:59Speaker 2: is hilarious. Your dad is from Connecticut. Your family grew
- 43:03Speaker 2: up in Connecticut. Yeah. Northeast guy. Your dad had a
- 43:06Speaker 2: waste management company. Yeah. That he sold. He sold it
- 43:09Speaker 2: to waste management.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:10Speaker 2: It has this waste hauling. Last name Logano? Yes, sir.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Hard-nosed dad? Yeah, he's pretty tough. Pretty, pretty tough guy. Yeah.
- 43:15Speaker 3: Sounds like a very similar storyline to a man named
- 43:18Speaker 3: Tony Soprano who had a waste management company. What were
- 43:23Speaker 3: we doing back.
- 43:23Speaker 1: There, huh?
- 43:24Speaker 2: Just hauling trash. Just hauling trash. Okay, man. All good.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Just something to think about.
- 43:29Speaker 1: He had a guy on the inside.
- 43:30Speaker 2: He had a guy on the inside.
- 43:32Speaker 3: Dad would just come home late at night with a
- 43:34Speaker 3: baseball bat in the back of the truck.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Hey, you're going to race tomorrow, kid. You're going to
- 43:39Speaker 2: get it done. It wasn't like that. No, we had
- 43:40Speaker 2: fun together. We had a good time. My dad was
- 43:43Speaker 2: a great dad. We had a blast together. It was
- 43:47Speaker 2: cool because... I mean, he's a very competitive person, right?
- 43:50Speaker 2: And like, I mean, to build a business like he did,
- 43:52Speaker 2: like he was, he's an all in kind of guy.
- 43:55Speaker 2: And I think that's what, like one of the biggest
- 43:58Speaker 2: things I learned from him was just, if you're going
- 43:59Speaker 2: to do it, you do it all the way. And
- 44:03Speaker 2: when he stopped his company and he focused just on racing,
- 44:08Speaker 2: it was just like that. Like we took it pretty seriously,
- 44:12Speaker 2: you know, sure. We had fun and we had, you know,
- 44:15Speaker 2: his memories that I'll have the rest of my life,
- 44:17Speaker 2: probably my, favorite memories of racing my whole life is
- 44:21Speaker 2: probably when I was a kid. That was probably the
- 44:23Speaker 2: best times, right? Because it's not a job then. You're
- 44:25Speaker 2: just doing it for fun, right?
- 44:26Speaker 1: Love of the game.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Love it, right. And when you get to the pros,
- 44:30Speaker 2: there's a lot of pressure on you, right? There's a
- 44:32Speaker 2: lot of people relying on you.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Friday night lights.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Don't rely on me then.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Friday night lights are the best. Playing on Fridays in
- 44:36Speaker 1: high school.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. So that was my Friday night lights, right?
- 44:39Speaker 2: So those moments will always be my favorites. I love that.
- 44:43Speaker 1: What are you doing? You looked at the birth certificate?
- 44:46Speaker 2: There was some of that. Yeah, fuck. Goes up, smacks
- 44:48Speaker 2: the doctor in the hand. What are you fucking thinking, huh?
- 44:50Speaker 1: I'm going to talk later.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Yeah. Not in front of the kid. Not in front
- 44:53Speaker 2: of the kid.
- 44:55Speaker 1: We interrupt this episode because we need to talk to
- 44:57Speaker 1: you about something very serious.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Breakfast.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Okay. Actually, yes.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Very serious. Because for too long, breakfast has been either
- 45:08Speaker 1: nothing but coffee.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Which is a crime.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Or a full production. Chopping. Prepping.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Cooking. Cleaning.
- 45:18Speaker 1: By the time you're done, it's basically lunch.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 45:21Speaker 3: And that's why we're fired up to announce that Kevin's
- 45:24Speaker 3: Natural Foods now has breakfast.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Kevin's for breakfast.
- 45:28Speaker 3: You guys already know we love Kevin's for lunch and dinner,
- 45:31Speaker 3: and now they've officially entered the morning routine with scrambler starters.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Which means you can now eat Kevin's all day, every day.
- 45:40Speaker 2: That's a complete system. That's a winning game plan.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Kevin's scramble starters are legit. They're made with tender protein,
- 45:47Speaker 1: crisp vegetables, and a creamy sauce with insanely good flavor
- 45:51Speaker 1: like Denver style ham and white cheddar and spinach and
- 45:54Speaker 1: bacon Florentine. Just add eggs for a delicious scramble in minutes.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Plus they're made with clean ingredients, no added sugars, gluten-free, soy-free,
- 46:04Speaker 3: and no mystery meat.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Just high quality protein.
- 46:08Speaker 1: You just take the scrambler starter out of the freezer,
- 46:10Speaker 1: throw it in a pan, add your eggs, drizzle the sauce,
- 46:15Speaker 1: and in about 15 minutes, you've got a real breakfast
- 46:17Speaker 1: that's better than something you'd order at a restaurant.
- 46:20Speaker 3: But without waiting 45 minutes for a table.
- 46:23Speaker 1: So yes, Kevin's Natural Foods has breakfast now. Find Kevin's
- 46:28Speaker 1: Scrambler Starters in the Frozen Isle at Target, Kroger, Harris Teeter, Giant,
- 46:33Speaker 1: and Hannaford stores.
- 46:35Speaker 3: Kevin's for breakfast. Mornings, just got a major upgrade. Let's
- 46:38Speaker 3: get back to this episode.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Dude, you have five kids. Now, how old are your kids?
- 46:44Speaker 2: They are from basically 11 to five.
- 46:46Speaker 3: Okay, that's if I had five kids, that's how I
- 46:48Speaker 3: would frame it as well.
- 46:49Speaker 2: Yeah, they're all, well, we're fostering two, hoping to adopt.
- 46:53Speaker 2: That's awesome. And then we have three biologicals. Gotcha. So we're,
- 46:57Speaker 2: we're in the, my wife's a superhero. My wife is
- 47:00Speaker 2: a freaking dog. I don't know how she, she can
- 47:02Speaker 2: handle all that. She's doing it right now as I'm
- 47:05Speaker 2: sitting here, right. Talking to you guys in a school
- 47:07Speaker 2: bus and she's got five kids at home, but it's yeah, she's,
- 47:11Speaker 2: she's been great. It's been, you know, fostering is something
- 47:14Speaker 2: that's been, it's been in her family her whole life, obviously,
- 47:18Speaker 2: but also you know, my, my father was adopted too.
- 47:21Speaker 2: So it's been something that's been special to us. You know,
- 47:25Speaker 2: our foundation has supported foster care for the last, you know,
- 47:30Speaker 2: 10 years, 10 plus years. And eventually, you know, we've
- 47:34Speaker 2: kept trying to say no, that we're not ready for it, right?
- 47:38Speaker 2: Life's busy. We already have three kids. How are we
- 47:41Speaker 2: going to do it? And eventually, you know, if you
- 47:43Speaker 2: talk to talk enough, You got to walk the walk.
- 47:46Speaker 2: And the math on foster care right now is not good.
- 47:51Speaker 2: The amount of foster kids versus homes is not even close.
- 47:55Speaker 2: So we felt like God told us that we need
- 47:58Speaker 2: to do this. And it's been great. It's been challenging,
- 48:03Speaker 2: maybe a little more at times than we thought, and
- 48:06Speaker 2: sometimes maybe a little easier than we thought. But it's
- 48:08Speaker 2: been very rewarding and fun to see everyone coexisting together,
- 48:13Speaker 2: living at home. It's been good. Yeah, it's been a
- 48:15Speaker 2: lot of fun.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Do you have any future racers?
- 48:17Speaker 2: That's about, yeah. I don't know. Which one's the best, dude?
- 48:19Speaker 2: Which one has it? Which one's sliced bread? My oldest son, Hudson,
- 48:25Speaker 2: he has the talent if he wants to do it,
- 48:27Speaker 2: but he doesn't seem like he wants to race. He
- 48:29Speaker 2: just like, He just wants to ride quads and dirt
- 48:32Speaker 2: bikes at home right now. And I'm okay with that.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Cause honestly, it's all like when I grew up, that's
- 48:38Speaker 2: all I did. Like it was every day I got
- 48:40Speaker 2: on my quad and I would ride until the sun
- 48:42Speaker 2: went down. And he's very similar that way. But I said, well,
- 48:46Speaker 2: why don't we race? He's like, I don't want to race.
- 48:47Speaker 2: I'm like, okay. And I don't want to push him either.
- 48:51Speaker 2: Cause I don't want to.
- 48:51Speaker 1: Buddy, did you see this birth certificate I made you?
- 48:53Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't want to rob the fun out of
- 48:55Speaker 2: it for him. Yeah. And. I have a blast just
- 48:59Speaker 2: riding with him at home. You know, like he's quick. Like,
- 49:02Speaker 2: I mean, it's to the point now that we can
- 49:05Speaker 2: like really race and kind of honestly get a little
- 49:07Speaker 2: pissed off at each other at times because it's like
- 49:09Speaker 2: you start pushing each other around a little bit, but
- 49:11Speaker 2: it's pretty fun. It's been a good time.
- 49:14Speaker 3: Is he like big into like Nitro Circus and stuff
- 49:16Speaker 3: like that? Or is he more just like about tracks?
- 49:18Speaker 2: He mainly, likes just racing part of it, but like,
- 49:22Speaker 2: he's a big NBA fan and he plays on his
- 49:25Speaker 2: basketball team. And that's like, that's what he wants to
- 49:26Speaker 2: do competitively. He wants to be an NBA player. I'm like, okay.
- 49:30Speaker 2: I'm like, Dad can't help you much with that. I
- 49:33Speaker 2: don't know much about basketball, but let's do it. Like,
- 49:36Speaker 2: you know, I'm not going to change. I don't want
- 49:38Speaker 2: to ever force anything on him, right? I just, I
- 49:40Speaker 2: tell him, whatever you, and I tell all my kids this,
- 49:43Speaker 2: whatever you choose to be, try to be the best
- 49:45Speaker 2: in the world at it. It doesn't matter what it is.
- 49:47Speaker 2: It doesn't have to be sports. It can be, like
- 49:51Speaker 2: my father, he was a great garbage man and he
- 49:53Speaker 2: made a great life for himself, right? Like whatever it is,
- 49:56Speaker 2: if you become the best at it, you're going to
- 49:58Speaker 2: be pretty dang successful. Just try to be the best
- 50:01Speaker 2: at whatever that is. Yeah.
- 50:03Speaker 3: With your oldest, is there another kid that has like
- 50:05Speaker 3: the passion for racing that sees what their dad does
- 50:08Speaker 3: and like, oh, I really want to do this?
- 50:10Speaker 2: Not at the moment.
- 50:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:11Speaker 2: Not at the moment.
- 50:12Speaker 1: No.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Is it hard for you when you have a kid
- 50:13Speaker 3: that you see the talent and you're like, I kind
- 50:15Speaker 3: of want to push him towards this a little bit more,
- 50:17Speaker 3: but you also want.
- 50:18Speaker 2: To keep the fun in the game? It's probably a
- 50:20Speaker 2: balancing act that takes place.
- 50:21Speaker 1: It is.
- 50:22Speaker 2: It is very hard. I'm okay with that. I don't
- 50:30Speaker 2: ever want to push my kids into something. It's different
- 50:32Speaker 2: for him racing. I think this is something that holds
- 50:35Speaker 2: him up. He hasn't told me this directly, but I
- 50:38Speaker 2: feel it. We have gone racing a couple times before.
- 50:44Speaker 2: When I went racing as a kid, I was Joey Logano,
- 50:48Speaker 2: Tom Logano's son with the garbage company down the road.
- 50:51Speaker 2: No one thought twice about it. But when Hudson wants
- 50:54Speaker 2: to go racing or any other kids might go racing.
- 50:56Speaker 2: It's Joey Lugano, NASCAR champions child. And you're supposed to
- 51:00Speaker 2: be great because you're, I don't know. You have a
- 51:04Speaker 2: better car than everybody. You have more talent. You have
- 51:06Speaker 2: a better coach. You have like, you're supposed to be great.
- 51:08Speaker 2: So there's a lot of pressure. And no matter what,
- 51:10Speaker 2: they don't deserve it because they're seven, eight years old,
- 51:13Speaker 2: whatever they may be that haven't done it anymore in
- 51:16Speaker 2: the next kid, but they are coming with all this hype. Right. And,
- 51:21Speaker 2: It's just part of it, right? Like if your kids
- 51:23Speaker 2: want to play football, they're just supposed to be better
- 51:25Speaker 2: than everybody else because genetically they're better and they got
- 51:27Speaker 2: a better coach and they know what to do and
- 51:29Speaker 2: all those things that should be better. But that's not fair.
- 51:32Speaker 2: It's still a kid. Like any way you look at it,
- 51:35Speaker 2: it's still a kid. So I don't push them for
- 51:39Speaker 2: that reason. Like the times we did go racing, I said, okay,
- 51:41Speaker 2: it's a go-kart. We're not showing up with the trailer
- 51:44Speaker 2: and all this fancy stuff. We're showing up at the
- 51:45Speaker 2: back of this pickup truck. We got a bag full
- 51:47Speaker 2: of tools. We're going to park in the back. We're
- 51:49Speaker 2: going to put duct tape numbers on this thing and
- 51:51Speaker 2: we're going to roll up there like, and try to
- 51:53Speaker 2: just be under the radar as much as possible. It
- 51:55Speaker 2: didn't work, but tried to do it that way. And yeah,
- 51:59Speaker 2: I mean, he just, he just didn't seem to be
- 52:01Speaker 2: into it that much at the time, but you never know.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Things change.
- 52:03Speaker 1: Did he win?
- 52:04Speaker 2: Yeah. No, no. He finished like third or fourth. He did.
- 52:07Speaker 2: He did good, but yeah, he wasn't really, not quite yet.
- 52:10Speaker 2: That's all right.
- 52:10Speaker 1: You got time. It sounds like you got time. Yeah.
- 52:13Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. And if he doesn't, I can say, he
- 52:17Speaker 2: does have the love of cars though. There's no doubt
- 52:19Speaker 2: on that. Like, I mean, like I'm a huge car guy.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Like that's just, that's my, you have a crazy collection, right? Yeah. Yeah. Hey,
- 52:28Speaker 2: how many cars do you have? Oh, I don't know.
- 52:30Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:31Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 52:32Speaker 2: 30, 40, something like that. There's a lot of cars
- 52:35Speaker 2: in there. I'm a big Ford guy.
- 52:39Speaker 3: So what's your, what's your, like your crown jewel car
- 52:41Speaker 3: that you're just like, I love this. This is my,
- 52:44Speaker 3: I will never sell this.
- 52:48Speaker 2: So probably both ends of the spectrum. So I have
- 52:51Speaker 2: a 24, 1924, 1924. I need to say that now.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Ford Model T. Is that this? That's my Model T. Yeah.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Love driving that car. You like driving that?
- 53:01Speaker 1: I do.
- 53:02Speaker 2: It's fully original. And I like it just because it's,
- 53:06Speaker 2: for one, it's cool to see how far we've come
- 53:08Speaker 2: in 100 years. Like from just the evolution of the vehicle.
- 53:14Speaker 2: I think that's really neat to see. And the other thing,
- 53:17Speaker 2: no one's ever going to steal it because you got
- 53:18Speaker 2: to hand crank it and no one knows how to
- 53:21Speaker 2: drive it. Yeah. But it's fun. I put the kids
- 53:23Speaker 2: in it and we go cruise around. And then I
- 53:25Speaker 2: just got the new Mustang GTD. which is the newest
- 53:30Speaker 2: hot rod they got. Pull that up, pull that up, Matty.
- 53:32Speaker 2: That thing is- GTD? Yeah, it is. I know about
- 53:35Speaker 2: the GT. So freaking fast. I didn't know they had
- 53:38Speaker 2: a new letter. Oh yeah, they had a new letter.
- 53:39Speaker 2: That's the Mustang part. So the Ford GT has been out,
- 53:43Speaker 2: then they stopped production of that. And now the GTD
- 53:46Speaker 2: is the new hot rod that Ford's got. And so, yeah,
- 53:49Speaker 2: that's that sucker right there. So it is ridiculously fast.
- 53:54Speaker 2: 800 plus horsepower, big old tires, big brakes, big ceramic
- 53:58Speaker 2: brakes on it. It's just carbon brakes on it. It's,
- 54:01Speaker 2: it is awesome. What color is yours? I got it.
- 54:05Speaker 2: So all my, almost all my cars are gray with
- 54:08Speaker 2: like a matte black stripe. So that's, so it's similar to,
- 54:13Speaker 2: I like fitting. I like everything looking the same. It's
- 54:16Speaker 2: a 22nd one built. So I drive the 22. And so,
- 54:21Speaker 2: so these cars were, So this car and the Ford GT,
- 54:25Speaker 2: when they came out, they put a, you have to
- 54:26Speaker 2: apply to buy the car because everybody wanted to get
- 54:30Speaker 2: one and they still do. And so as a Ford driver,
- 54:35Speaker 2: you get a little.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Extra bump on the list.
- 54:37Speaker 2: You got a guy on the inside.
- 54:38Speaker 1: I got a guy on the inside.
- 54:40Speaker 2: I said, you give me a Vin 22. So I
- 54:41Speaker 2: got a Vin 22 with a GT. That's old Tom
- 54:43Speaker 2: Logano coming out. Yeah. I know a guy. Yeah. So
- 54:47Speaker 2: those two cars, I don't want to get rid of
- 54:49Speaker 2: either one of those because they're like, they're special cars.
- 54:52Speaker 2: the 22nd ones. There's like, we'll talk about the coolest
- 54:55Speaker 2: thing to hand down to your grandkids someday. Wouldn't that
- 54:58Speaker 2: be the coolest thing? And what that thing's going to
- 55:02Speaker 2: be like about by then. Oh my gosh. It'd be
- 55:04Speaker 2: the coolest freaking thing in the world.
- 55:05Speaker 3: So you don't strike me as a guy that thing
- 55:08Speaker 3: rust or anything like that.
- 55:09Speaker 2: No, no. Like warehouse that houses all these things. I
- 55:12Speaker 2: have a building by my house and I just, yeah,
- 55:16Speaker 2: I drive a different car all the time. I just
- 55:18Speaker 2: want to drive different stuff. So, um, I tell you,
- 55:21Speaker 2: so recently I bought into Huntersville Ford in North Carolina.
- 55:26Speaker 2: Now Joey Logano's Huntersville Ford. Anyways, for a car guy,
- 55:30Speaker 2: coolest thing ever because you just grab the keys and like,
- 55:33Speaker 2: I want to drive one of these. Take the keys
- 55:36Speaker 2: and take it for a run. That's awesome. Coolest thing
- 55:38Speaker 2: in the world. So for a car guy, that's the
- 55:40Speaker 2: way to go.
- 55:40Speaker 3: Is there a car that you got that you're like, nah,
- 55:42Speaker 3: you know, I have it, but I don't know. Then
- 55:44Speaker 3: you got it and you're like, oh, I actually love it.
- 55:46Speaker 3: Was there a car you fell in love with after
- 55:47Speaker 3: you bought it? As opposed to, just loving it and
- 55:50Speaker 3: going right away. Um, what's a sleeper car in your
- 55:53Speaker 3: collection is basically what I'm asking.
- 55:55Speaker 2: Sleeper. Uh, I, most of them have like some kind
- 55:59Speaker 2: of meaning to them. Like I'm a big fan of
- 56:02Speaker 2: cars that like I either grew up with or around
- 56:05Speaker 2: or something like that. That's, that's really special. Um, I
- 56:09Speaker 2: tell you what, the coolest thing is getting delivered this week.
- 56:12Speaker 2: And I have kind of excited to see, it's called
- 56:14Speaker 2: a water car. Uh, so this is a, it's a
- 56:17Speaker 2: boat car basically. So it's a, boat that has wheels
- 56:22Speaker 2: on it and you duck boat driver it's a duck
- 56:24Speaker 2: boat but uh but uh yeah so there's a water
- 56:28Speaker 2: car what in the james bond is going on here
- 56:30Speaker 2: not that one uh so i used to have the
- 56:33Speaker 2: jeep version one that looked like a jeep and now
- 56:36Speaker 2: i just ordered a one to the yeah that's what
- 56:37Speaker 2: i used to have i sold that i used to
- 56:40Speaker 2: drive that all the time that's super cool and now
- 56:42Speaker 2: i got the one looks like a boat the one
- 56:43Speaker 2: to the left that's the that's the new ride coming
- 56:45Speaker 2: in That's coming in this week. I'm pretty stoked about that. Yep.
- 56:49Speaker 2: So you just pull up to the dock. You just
- 56:52Speaker 2: pull right up to the boat ramp. Boom. Drive it
- 56:54Speaker 2: right in. And then the wheels like come up. The
- 56:55Speaker 2: wheels come up. You drop the motor in and see
- 56:58Speaker 2: you later. Cool, right?
- 56:59Speaker 1: That is kind of cool.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Yeah. What kind of horsepower are we talking about with
- 57:02Speaker 2: that thing?
- 57:02Speaker 1: How much does something like that cost?
- 57:06Speaker 2: I think they're like, I think they're 150-ish. Sounds like
- 57:09Speaker 2: a guy that didn't pay for it. i got a
- 57:16Speaker 2: deal on it i think there may be a little
- 57:19Speaker 2: bit more but i did get a deal on it
- 57:20Speaker 2: um but yeah they're they're cool so they're on electric
- 57:24Speaker 2: the wheels are on an electric motor so it's kind
- 57:26Speaker 2: of like a like a golf cart if you will
- 57:27Speaker 2: like a faster one larger one and then yeah when
- 57:31Speaker 2: you pull in the water it's got the outboard motor
- 57:34Speaker 2: and Wheels pull up and off you go. Then you can,
- 57:38Speaker 2: the wheels pull up. You can tow it as a
- 57:39Speaker 2: trailer too. You can put like a trailer attachment in
- 57:41Speaker 2: the front and then the front wheels pull up and
- 57:43Speaker 2: then you can tow it like that with the rear
- 57:44Speaker 2: wheels down. It's pretty sick.
- 57:46Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 57:46Speaker 2: I'm pretty excited about this one.
- 57:48Speaker 1: What's the dumbest thing you spent your money on? This. Yeah.
- 57:50Speaker 2: This is probably it. It sounds like you didn't spend,
- 57:52Speaker 2: you got a good deal on that. Yeah, but that's
- 57:55Speaker 2: probably it.
- 57:55Speaker 3: What's the worst purchase, doesn't have to be a car,
- 57:57Speaker 3: you made in your very long career?
- 57:59Speaker 2: There's no dumb purchase of wheels on it. No way.
- 58:04Speaker 2: That's literally the opposite of what people say. Yeah, I
- 58:07Speaker 2: don't believe that. Floats, flies, or something else. You at
- 58:09Speaker 2: least see you don't buy it. Other people's words, not ours. Sure,
- 58:12Speaker 2: I've heard that before. But I mean, cars are worth it.
- 58:17Speaker 2: Cars are cool, man. I tell my wife they're investments.
- 58:20Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah. You buy the right ones, they
- 58:22Speaker 2: can be. No doubt.
- 58:24Speaker 1: At what point does your wife kind of step in
- 58:25Speaker 1: and like, hey, hey.
- 58:28Speaker 2: We have five kids.
- 58:30Speaker 1: You got 30 of them out there.
- 58:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm okay. I'm not that crazy. I like the
- 58:38Speaker 2: game of buying and selling and flipping them and jiving
- 58:41Speaker 2: different things.
- 58:42Speaker 1: Your wife hearing you say, I'm not that crazy.
- 58:44Speaker 2: How would she react? She'd probably roll her eyes a
- 58:47Speaker 2: little bit. Yeah. She wouldn't roll her eyes crazy.
- 58:50Speaker 1: Not that bad.
- 58:51Speaker 2: But see, what does help though is now my kids
- 58:54Speaker 2: are in, well, at least my oldest kid, Is into
- 58:56Speaker 2: the vehicles too. So now it's like our thing.
- 58:59Speaker 1: Now you've got the loophole.
- 59:03Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 59:04Speaker 3: Is there a car that's gone up so much in value?
- 59:08Speaker 3: You can point to that if she ever complains about anything.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Yes.
- 59:10Speaker 2: Which car is that? The Ford GT. The GT? Yeah,
- 59:13Speaker 2: the GT. GT's the one in Ford versus Ferrari, correct? Yes,
- 59:17Speaker 2: but this is the newer version one.
- 59:19Speaker 1: What value are we talking about? How much is it?
- 59:22Speaker 2: This car here is worth like 1.2, 1.3 right now.
- 59:24Speaker 2: And I bought it for 400. Oh, shit.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:31Speaker 2: It's gone up significantly. So that one has paid for
- 59:34Speaker 2: all my dumb decisions. Right. That's how your brain works.
- 59:39Speaker 2: There was no mistake because of this one right here.
- 59:40Speaker 2: That's how an addict talks, yes. Yeah, exactly.
- 59:44Speaker 1: Now, did it skyrocket in value?
- 59:45Speaker 2: That car is so badass. That's the one win. I
- 59:48Speaker 2: look at that car and I'm like, dude, I would
- 59:50Speaker 2: love to have that car.
- 59:52Speaker 1: Now, does it skyrocket in value because of the movie?
- 59:55Speaker 2: No, no, not because of, I mean, the heritage of
- 59:58Speaker 2: what that is, is obviously one piece of it because
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: of the movie, you've seen the movie. But when Ford
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: came back out with this, they went back to Le Mans,
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: kind of relived that movie again. They went back there
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: and won with this car. So not that particular car,
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: but DGT. Yeah. Awesome. Okay, good.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: We have like a weird running bit where like the
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: movies will be brought up all the time and Will
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: has not seen them like Animal House.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: And I think it was one Speed the other day.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: There's just like a lot of like cult classic movies
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: that Will hasn't seen.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: But Ford vs. Fry is one of the good ones.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: That's a good one. I love that movie. Yes.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Because I was going to think too, it seems like
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: if it was the movie that spiked the price, you
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: got to start building out this production company and just
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: make movies about the cars that you have.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: Yeah. You got to basically Logan Paul. That's smart.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: But this car, dude, I think it's so awesome. But
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: as with my height, there's like, I would never.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: In a million years fit in that car. It's tight
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: for me. Yeah.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: And it's like, that's kind of just gone out of
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: my brain.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: I'll never. Oh yeah.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: I'm a zoo animal, dude. The Mustang's better for you.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: I hate even bringing this up. I'm building a Mustang. Yes.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: Why do you hate bringing this up? This is what
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: I want to talk about.
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: When I started to build this Mustang in 2022, I
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: asked the guy, and I'm not going to say his
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: name because I'm actually really pissed off at him right now.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: This would be a good time to call him out. Right. Yeah.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: I'm like, how long until this car is built? He
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: said 10 months.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: I said- In 2022. 2022.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: Paid.
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: I was like, how much is this car going to cost?
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: He goes- High end this much. I go, okay, that's
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: how much I'm going to get you right now. Give
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: me your wiring information.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: I wired him, paid for the car in full.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: And Taylor, we're in the locker room together. He's showing
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: me photos.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: It's going to be done in 10 minutes.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: It's like custom wheel wells where the tires are real big.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: What year is that? It's a 1970 Fastback. Yeah. It's
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: going to have a Coyote in it. Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: We had a custom, I think a Roadster chassis. Everything's
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: like custom. I'm so fired up.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: It's 2026.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: And actually this morning- He texted me. He's like, hey,
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: this is going to get done, blah, blah, blah, in
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: two weeks. I go, you told me September 10th. And
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: you're telling me now that in two weeks you're going
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: to get back for it to get painted. And it's
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: going to be a few more months. Like, why am
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: I just learning about this now?
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: And I literally just went off on him about it.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: When the car is done, I'm going to be juiced
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: about it. But the process in which.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: It goes down is just brutal, dude. It's just like horses.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: And I hate that. You don't even close. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: And this story happens more than you think. And I hate,
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: like I'm into restoring cars and doing things like that,
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: but you hear these stories so many times that people get. See,
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: the Mustang is sick. Yeah, it is cool. You said
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: it's a 70, right? It's a 70 Fastback, yeah. I
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: have a 71. So it has a little longer back
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: on it. But yeah, that model year looks really, really good.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: It's super sharp. And the wheel wells that come out,
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: like the tires in the back are like.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: Yeah. Did you put a supercharger on it? Yes. You're
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: damn right. All right. Nice. Now you're cool. All right.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: We'll take it. There you go. Now we're talking.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: But yeah, I'm old school Ford with it too, where
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: it's like, I can have any color I want as
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: long as it's black.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: So the car will be black. Yes. It's like nothing crazy.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: Like the car, the body of the car itself to me,
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: that's telling... That's the bad assness of it.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: I don't need to go.
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: Cause I've never been like a fast and the furious
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: type of like highlighter colors. I've never been into that.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: But like a sharp looking black Mustang.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: I messed with it.
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: So once this car's on, maybe the best thing to
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: come out of my love for cars is starting racing
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: with the boys. Cause now I feel like if I
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: ever do this again, I have a lot of connections
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: in Charlotte to be like, I'm going to build.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: A car out there. Yeah, call me next time, would you? Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Seems like you are the guy, actually. I probably am.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: Do you do custom.
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: Builds at all or do you have custom builds done
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: for you?
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: We do. So you have one? Yeah, we do some
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: of it at our dealership. We do a lot of
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: custom builds at our dealership, like a lot of them.
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: A lot of new stuff, some older cars as well,
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: restoring stuff. But that stuff's that that's my passion that's
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: that's what i love doing right he loves seeing my
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: new plug dude yeah he loves seeing like okay there's
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: a stock car it's really cool obviously like you can
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: take a bronco or an f-150 or whatever a mustang
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: and they're like they're cool to start us is a
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: cool start but you want to make it unique and
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: make it your own a little bit right and everyone
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: has their way of doing it and their style right
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: like your style sounds similar to mine or most my
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: cars are black and yeah maybe a silver stripe but
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: they're darker and they all look cool the same some
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: people like the super to your point, highlighter colors that
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: are bright and out there. And I don't know, that's
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: cool too. Like we like building that type of stuff too.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: Are you familiar with the Lobo trucks right now? Do
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: you like the, like the lowered, like you've seen like
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: the lowered F-150s right now? Are you talking about like
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: the bagged ones?
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: Trucks.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: Oh, they're not even on bags, but just lowered.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: Like a sport truck. I actually have a 77 F-100
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: that is lowered, like where the wheel and the wheel
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: well sit, like comfortable, like right here, it's like nice
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: and flush. And I like that street truck look a lot.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: But the older I get and like the Raptor you
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: saw sitting out there, like I love, like if I'm
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: doing a modern car, it's a two inch lift, it's 38s,
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: it's 22s. And just that to me with the stance
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: where it comes out like an inch and a half
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: to two inches. To me, that's like the perfect look
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: to a newer modern car.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: But now I'm seeing myself with the old cars, like
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: the bull noses.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: What is it called? What is it? It's like a 74-
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: And I might be getting over my seats. I don't
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: think it might be, it might not be a Ford,
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: but they have like bullnose where the front end is
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: like more protruding out and it kind of comes down
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: like this a little bit. Okay. Yeah.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: And I think those old like ranch trucks are awesome
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: with lifting good tires.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: What about like a newer lowered truck? That's not my speed.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: That's not your style? That's not my speed right there. No,
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: I like all the power to whoever wants to do it.
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: And I've had a lot of trucks pull.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: Yeah. I have one of those.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: You pull up to me on the highway and you
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: rev your engine a couple of times trying to get
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: me going. And I'm like, no, bro, I'm cruising. I'm
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: 10 over, but I'm still like cruising, having a good time.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Yeah. Those are high right now.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: A lot of people are doing that. See if you
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: can pull up my 77 F100. Because it's, dude, it's
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: matte black and the interior is cowhide interior.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: I have a taxidermied squirrel. Oh, cool. That sits there.
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: He's got a cowboy hat, a little gold chain and
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: a gun in his hand. And his name plate says
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: Roy Cleveland Sullivan.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. He ain't lying, bro.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: It works for about a.
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: Week at a time.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: Dude, literally every three months it breaks down to where
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: I called the same guy that I pissed off right now.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: I go, I don't want to see it again.
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: So, and he takes care of that car for you
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: if you have issues? Well, he's taking, yeah. Look at
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: that high school photo of Louie right there. There I am,
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: broken down. There I am. There he is right there.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: You're out of gas. I'm out of gas. I thought
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: you were just out of gas. That's off the highway
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: right here. That's on you if you're out of gas. Yeah, 100%.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: You ain't lying. There it is right there. That's a
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: cool shot. Yeah.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: And I got that.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: So the hood ornament is a guy on a bucking horse.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: I found that on Amazon and powder coated it like
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: that root beer, the same color as the bumper right there.
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: So Detroit steel wheels on the side. I love a good,
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: cool looking custom vehicle. But dude, I had an unreasonable
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: expectation of these old cars where I want to drive
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: them every single day. They all want to get in it,
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: turn the key and roll. Like when you're talking about
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: cars being totally original and all that, like to me,
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: that's like, I'm a domesticated cat. Like I can't change
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: a tire. I don't know how to change the oil
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: on a vehicle. I do not know how to do
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: that stuff.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: I'm a domesticated cat.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: I would love to just get in a car, turn
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: the key and it's like, this thing looks badass and
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: it runs every single time.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: I am now learning about myself that this is the
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: most unrealistic goal I've ever.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: Had for myself.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: Ever. And that sucks because I think, yeah, this truck rips.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Look how bummed out you look right there. I am
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: so bummed out. Because- I think I just got out
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: of the shop.
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: And at the moment I was like, I think I
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: broke down again, but you know, the gas tank's there.
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: So I probably figured it out. Ran out of gas.
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: Did you walk? Did you walk to go get gas?
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: Did you have to like walk up the highway? No,
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: so we were all like kind of caravanning back to
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: the shop. This is like- So you had friends with you.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: So Jeremy Clump actually pulls up behind me and we
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: go to the gas station like a mile away. We
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: get this little tank and fill the tank up. You
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: didn't have to do the walk of shame, like walking
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: back to your car with the gas jug. Been there though.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: Been there before. And everyone knows you look like an idiot.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: You're like, yeah, I ran out of gas. That's on me.
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: What's like, have you seen the vintage Broncos? Yeah.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: My wife has a 74- One of those has got
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: a coyote in it. It's got a Wimbledon white, just
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: classic light brown interior in it.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: And it is so bad ass dude. Yeah. It is
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: such a cool looking. She drives her car. She drives.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: That's her. That was her dream car. Yeah. It's yeah.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: Type in vintage Bronco. Vintage started making old Mustangs too.
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: And they have a really cool deal with Ford to
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: where they get, I guess that's it.
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: I guess. Is it more like that blue one? Isn't it?
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: It's more like that blue one. Yeah. Yeah. There's more
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: like it. Yeah, it's that, but it's in a Wimbledon white.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: And dude, it's so sharp. It's fun to rip around in.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: And it's got like the whole interior is like a
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: new Bronco inside of it, right? Yeah, it's like brand
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: new on the inside. It has like the glass dash
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: and all the stuff just like the new Broncos. Yeah,
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: they're pretty cool. I've seen one before. I've only seen one,
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: but they look pretty cool.
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: Yeah, but the deal they have with Ford is like
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: all of these parts come from Ford factory. So it's like,
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: it's a, essentially it's a old looking car. This one's
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: never broke down on me, which is amazing. And, um,
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: but it's a, it's a brand new car with a
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: 74 body.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: Yeah. And I just think that's awesome. Perfect. I'm a
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: huge fan of that.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: Yeah. George got something like that too, didn't he?
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: George's got, I mean, this is, yeah, George is going
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: Portnoy even like, he's like, I'm not a car guy,
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: but he has, I think two of these.
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: Hmm.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: Dave? Yeah. Oh, shit. I think we were in New
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: Orleans with him.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: Right as we were leaving Barstow, we were all talking
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: about like, he's like not into things like this, but
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: he does love these Broncos. So he's got a couple
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: of them. There's Young Kittle right there.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: But yeah, dude, I love it. I love it.
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: Is there a car that you haven't gotten yet that
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: you want to get your hands on? Do you have
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: like a white whale?
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: Not really.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: No?
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: You got them all. Yeah, and the old stuff's fun.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: So my dad... from the trucking stuff. He was, he's
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: in the old trucks. So he's, he's into a lot
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: of stuff. All this stuff. Yeah. You figure out next time,
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: but that's, so I recently, I always drove the trucks
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: around as a kid. Like that's when I got out
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: of school before I was homeschooling. I lived in Connecticut.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: When I get home from school, I'd go to the
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: truck garage there and I would just drive trucks around
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: like as a child. Like that's what I, I watered
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: a yard, a big tanker truck. And I was a
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: seven year old kid driving this tractor trailer is what
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: I did. And I had fun doing it. And so like,
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: I've always driven trucks growing up and used to that.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: And my dad's into antique trucks. And so I've always
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: done it illegally. I finally got my CDL, which I
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: think is probably the right way to do it. Yeah. Well,
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: I mean, I drove trucks on the highway, but I-
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: How old were you when you got your CDL? Last year.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: So yeah, I was 35 years old. I finally got it.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: But yeah, now I can legally drive. I drive trucks
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: for just for the heck of it. I think I
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: put my kids in the back and we go. Yeah.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: Just take it to your grocery store. We take it
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: to church. We roll up to the church in a
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: big tractor trailer. That's great. That's good times. Good times.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Have you got your dad something that he's always wanted?
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Antique truck?
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: Have I gotten him one? Yeah.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: Have you gotten him one?
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: So I surprised him one year. I mean, that's the
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: coolest thing to do because I wouldn't be here if
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: it wasn't for my parents, like supporting my career. Right.
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: And so when I started to actually make it, not,
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: when I thought I made it and then lost my job,
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: like when I actually made it, uh, I bought my
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: dad an old Chris craft boat, like the old wooden
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: Chris crafts. Awesome. Yeah. Super cool. And so, uh, I
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: always remember I, I surprised him with, I told him,
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: I was like, I bought this new boat. Come, come
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: to the, come to the lake. I want to show
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: it to you. And we come cruising up in it.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: And that's where I'm the keys. And I was like,
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: that's yours now. You know, it was like one of these.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: It was just like that.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's a cool boat.
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: I'll tell you what, something about like a white polo
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: and some blue shorts.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: Right? Just cruise.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: Girl next to you has got a scarf on and
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: some big glasses.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: That's the vibe right there. That's what it looks like, right?
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: Hell yeah. Yeah, that's a good joke. Chugger out. That's
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: some James Bond type stuff right there. That's a pretty boat.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: That's a beautiful boat.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: Isn't it? It's just pretty. It's all wood too, which
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: makes it like. Yeah, there is sick. It's a piece
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: of art. Yes, it is. They don't make them like
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: that anymore. No, they don't. And it sounds great. You
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: like the old, like an old boat. just kind of
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: a little bit. Yeah. You know what I mean? The
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: water's kind of shooting out of the pipes a little bit.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: You know what I'm talking about, man. That old boat sound.
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: That old boat sounds nice. You got to get a
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: nice old boat sound. You guys are going the wrong
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: way on this.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: I'm just engaging because I have no clue of this
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: boat sound that you're talking about.
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: You don't know. You don't know. It's like that. Yeah.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: You know what I mean? The water's coming out of
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: the pipes.
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: Honestly, when you guys' cars at NASCAR pull into the pit,
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: Like that kind of sound as you're an idol.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it sounds good, doesn't it? Yeah, dude, that's the
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: best sound in the world. Our cars at Idol sound
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: really good. They're badass. Wicked loud. God, they get me
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: juiced up, man. Have you guys been to a race yet?
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: Yeah, we were at the Grand Marshall. We were at
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: the 400. Grand Marshall for Cracker Barrel 400.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: Oh, really? Oh, thanks for saying hello to me. That's cool.
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: We hadn't met yet. We're like, holy shit, that's the
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: Joey Logano. Yeah, is that what you thought at all?
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: Did you guys do a good command though? Like, I
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: didn't see it. Some people are saying it's top two.
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: Some people are saying it's top two. We're not going to.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: Top two?
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: Because the Kevin James one was probably the best one, right?
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: Kevin James is number one. That's number one. You can't
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: beat it. Hard to beat.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: I'll say this, not to brag, but it has been
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: commented that that's the name that came out when talking
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: about the, look.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: You don't want to brag about it, but you guys
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: feel like you're right there, huh? This is the best
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: one since Kevin James.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: You guys feel that way? Have you been told that
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: or do you feel like people are saying?
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: That's what people have said. People.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: Yeah. And we don't look at negative comments. Right, so
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: only the good ones. Yeah. Right. I've done a good
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: job filing those away. That's the best way to do that.
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: Because if you got any hate comments on this, you'd
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: look at this.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: Yeah, the custom part of that is we'll hit them
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: with an extra vroom vroom at the end.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: You gave them a vroom vroom? Vroom vroom.
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: You gave them a vroom vroom? Yeah.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: Yeah, we had a whole- I almost cracked too. I
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: almost started laughing. Yeah.
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: Was that the plan? Did you guys like practice it?
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: Did you have a plan on how you were going
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: to do it?
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: It kind of got put together that day.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. But you had some thought into it that day.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: The most difficult part of this is, hey, we want
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: two guys to say, gentlemen, start your engines.
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: Right. And I'd say, all right.
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: And I know that Will's got a more commanding voice
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: than I do.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: So I was like, Will's got to be the gentlemen,
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: start your engines guy. So I put together a little like.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: So this is the hype. Yeah, this is the hype.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Taylor hit a monologue, an American monologue.
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: Yeah, American made. Did you talk about America some? We
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: were built for tough that day, I'll tell you that. Yeah,
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: you were. Look at this. I wish I could hear this. Yeah.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: This is for the car ride back to the airport. Yes,
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: I'm looking it up. On repeat.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: Vroom, vroom.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: Vroom, vroom. Yeah, dude.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: I will say, here's my... We did a practice run
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: right before this. And I was better at my practice
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: run than I was live.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: Was the practice awkward while people were staring at you
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: guys practicing? I was just real nervous. I was just
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: real nervous. Bro, same. Even when I'm yelling.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: Gentlemen, start your engines, I can feel my legs. I'm like, fuck, dude.
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: I know. This is happening. You get a little nervous. Yeah.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: It's kind of a great feeling that when you're nervous, like, oh,
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: I'm about to go do something where if I fail,
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: it'll go nuclear for all the wrong reasons.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: Yeah. And if you're able to pull it off, it's like, fuck, yeah.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: But if you don't, Hopefully you get a shot. Oh, well. Right? Like,
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: if it don't, it don't. Like, I feel like people
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: are too conservative these days because they're scared of failure.
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: Fear of failure. Yeah, fear of failure is a real thing, man.
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: Holy moly, dude. Like, just do it. And like, you know,
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: there's a lot of clips of me looking like an
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: idiot on the internet. What do you think the number
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: one is? Oh, well, probably me freaking fighting people at
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: the end of a race. It's not real smart. I'm
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: glad you brought it back up. Oh, thanks. But I'm
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: just saying, that's good, man. Dang it. Here's some of
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: my moments.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: What was your worst altercation with a driver?
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: Stewart? Hamlin? Bush? Probably, no, the Bush one wasn't bad.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: That one wasn't bad.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: Okay, there we go.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Probably the one that I regret the most was the
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: one with Kevin Harvick. And so he dumped me a
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: couple of times. It's kind of his building. We're friends now,
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: so it's okay. But, uh, we, he wrecked me and
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: eventually I had enough. He put me on the TV
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: and at the time his wife, Delaina, she always wore
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: a fire suit on pit road. And I don't know
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: the exact reason why. Maybe. I don't know what the
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: reason was. And, but I went down the road. You
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: shouldn't have gone. I made it personal. I said, well,
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: it's not his fault. I said, you know, his wife
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: wears a fire suit in the family.
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: And I was like, ah.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: And that's total like, ah. It's good wordplay though. It's
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: good wordplay. It was. It's good wordplay.
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: It was funny.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: And he made t-shirts and he sold them for his
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: charity and all. And it's funny. And so I recently
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: went on his podcast and I wore one of the
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: t-shirts from 20 years ago. That's funny. But yeah, that
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: was probably one of the funnier ones. But yeah, there's
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: moments like that, that, you know. You know, it just happens. Yeah.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: You got to move on. We've all done. I was
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: 19 there.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: That's you?
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: That's me.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: You can't even recognize me.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: No, not at all.
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: I was way younger. And so, yeah, that wasn't one
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: of them. You don't have to steer it there? No,
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: it was Harvick. That's Harvick right there. And the funny
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: thing is now I drive the show car. He was
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: driving the show car then.
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: Man, it is crazy how young you are.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: Look at the strut. You are strutting right there. So anyways, yeah,
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: that's one of my more embarrassing moments. Thanks for bringing
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: it up. Anyone bring up the weirdest? Have you guys
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: done any stupid stuff like that? I've actually never looked
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: up on the internet. Not once actually. Good for you guys.
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: I've never missed. Actually, you know what? This is one
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: of my better moments.
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: Matt?
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: Oh yeah, pull my pitch up. Thanks.
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: I can always count on Mitch to body bag me
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: whenever we have a fucking podcast on.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: Jesus Christ. Oh, yeah. This is my first pitch.
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: So we know when we talked about being nervous before
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: big moments.
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: Yes. I was 0% nervous for this. 0%? 0%. But
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: you should have been. You tell me. I'm wearing 77.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: See the person in the yellow? Oh. Look, there's that.
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: Get some push-ups in too, man. I got to get right.
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: That is, I don't like how hard you're laughing at that. No,
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: I'm laughing because I have a similar story. This is
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: the worst friend ever right here. He's going to beam
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: it in there, isn't he? Look at him. And boom.
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: Not a problem. Natural strike. It was perfect. It was
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: a great throw. Yeah, good job. And I just... Damn, yeah,
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: that's a bad one. Yeah, but I mean, you can also...
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: There's a lot of that thing.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: Yeah, there.
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: You go. You got to balance it back and forth.
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: You have some balance. Got to have some balance in there.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: That's okay. Yeah. This one right here. Yeah, this is.
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: This thing comes up like three, four times a year.
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: I'm the guy in 77, if you can't tell.
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: I'm not the black guy. So what were you doing before?
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: What was that little hand motion?
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: So that was Josh Nolan. Josh, his celebration was the arrow.
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: So when he would do stuff, he would like throw
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: an arrow at the guy. He, he, he did some stuff.
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: I didn't like, we were in a four minute drill
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: at the end of the game. Um, and he, he, he, he, no,
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: he tackled, uh, our running back there, Henry. And I
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: kind of rolled this, like, it's like at the end
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: of the game, like we're in four minutes, you guys
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: have lost. It's pretty much over.
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: So he's sulking on the sideline and I go and
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: do this to him. What sucks though is- He's a
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: lot smaller in here.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: Yeah, Josh is- Will played with him and says, Josh
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: is a great guy. He's actually an awesome teammate and
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: a good dude.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: I should have dropped somebody cold where they stood too.
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: Yeah, he probably is. He probably is. Again, you get
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: in a competitive environment and you flip gears. It's just
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: what you're supposed to do.
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: And also the position I played in football was very
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: much like, there's an S garbage right there. Um, like
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: you have an office alignment, so you're, you're going to
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: protect your guys. So the running back and the quarterback
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: like are always.
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: Off limits to you. Always, always in forever. Um, but yeah,
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: you have moments. Sweet Marcus.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: Oh, this is the Richard Sherman one.
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: So this is, that's Richard Sherman, which I met at
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: the Pro Bowl the year before. One of the nicest
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: guys in the world, but that's a crazy late hit.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: So. Is that you right there? Yeah, that's me. Ha
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: ha ha. What were you saying to him? I can't
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: even remember. Like, want to go to dinner later?
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: Ah!
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. What the fuck is that? What the
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: fuck is bullshit? You hit my quarterback!
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: You hit my quarterback!
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. Just like a Neanderthal type of talk. Just
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: learn words for the first time.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: That's bullshit!
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: That's bullshit! You know it!
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: Hey, but a guy that ruffles a lot of feathers,
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: drives very aggressively, kind of how you've described yourself, Carson Hosobar.
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: What's your relationship with Carson Hosobar like? Have you guys
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: ever got into it?
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: We've had, I mean, I don't know if there's anyone
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: on the track he hasn't run into yet. So I
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: think I'm definitely part of that list at some point.
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: Has he wrecked you? Have you wrecked him? He's gotten me, shoot,
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: he got me this week indirectly. He wrecked himself and
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: then I got caught up in his wreck. But yeah,
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: I mean, he's pretty aggressive out there. Yeah, he is.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: He pushes it to a different, different edge. I don't
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: know if I quite understand it, but he's definitely pushing it.
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: Is it kind of like yourself back in the day? No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: The, the world has changed quite a bit actually, because
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: the things that I did that made Harvick mad or
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: Tony Stewart or like most of these guys that I
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: got runs with those things back then were pushing it.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: Now it's very normal. Like the aggressive, the level of
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: aggressiveness in NASCAR racing has gone through the roof on
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: how everyone's just, it used to be crazy to see
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: cars go three wide. Like it was a big deal.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: Oh God, they're three wide. Now it's like three wides
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: every restart. Four wide would be something that's a little surprising,
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: but even that's not that crazy anymore. So it's just
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: kind of, What is three wide? Just three cars? Like
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: three cars, three wide. Got you. That makes sense. More
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: self-explanatory than that. That's for the viewers. You don't have
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: to go any deeper than that. That's just what it is.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: So the things that used to make some drivers mad
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: when I was first starting 20 years ago is normal now.
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: This is a whole other level. What is he? Is
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: he just super aggressive? Like he'll just... If you have
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: a situation- It just doesn't add up. It feels like
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: it's dumb aggression. Yeah, it's just kind of like, well, why?
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: If you're trying to win a race, you're making a move,
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: you're doing something to try to do it, like, okay,
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: or you're just doing it to do it, then it's different,
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: you know? And there's been some moves that are probably questionable,
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: you know? And granted, like I said, I've been that
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: side of it before, you know, not this far, but there.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: And yeah, it's just, I don't know what to tell you.
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: You got to compete against each other every week is
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: what it is. Did you say this? Look at this guy.
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: This weekend was actually humorous.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: Oh, this is last week.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: It was pouring rain. No, so it was raining, pouring rain.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: And we are just now learning to start races in
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: wet conditions on ovals. We've done it on road courses,
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: but on ovals, we always say if it's wet, but
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: not raining- We'll start the race. Well, it's raining out.
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: Like to the point you can't really see the water's
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: coming inside the car. You can't start the race in this.
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: So they, my spotter asked me at the moment, like, Hey,
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: NASCAR is asking, you know, thumbs up or thumbs down
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: to go. And I'm like, thumbs down. Well, Josefar is
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: next to me. And he's like, I guess he's going
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: to see how much grip there is. So he goes
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: and passes the pace car, which is a no, no,
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: you're not supposed to do that. And then this is
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: under caution before the race starts. And then just spins
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: it out in front of the field. And I'm like, Huh.
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: And that's what I was like, look at this idiot. Like,
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: look at this guy go. Where's he going? And so, yeah.
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: And if you just see that context, obviously it goes
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: further than what you think it is. That's how they
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: get you. All of it was just, I was watching
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: the guy spin out. It's like someone making a dumb
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: move on the highway. Like, look at this idiot. Where's
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: he going? You know? And that's kind of what it was.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: And it was, honestly, it was kind of funny. What
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: would be the logic of that? He was thumbs up.
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: He wanted to go racing. And I was on thumbs down.
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: And He should have had thumbs down. No, no. They
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: pulled us in and waited for it to stop raining.
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: I guess that made sense. This is it right here.
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: What track are you most confident on?
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: Richmond. Yeah, this is him under caution. You're probably going
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: to see me drive by. Here I go right here.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: And what's the reason behind passing the pace car?
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: You can't pass the pace car. The pace car is
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: there to set the pace under caution, under yellow flag.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: So what's he doing passing the pay?
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: I don't know. He has to do that. He's being,
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: it sounds like he's being an idiot. Geez. Yeah. An idiot.
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: Where is he going? I do have one more question
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: for you. And this was, make sure to ask you
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: this before. All right. Sorry.
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: At the end, why are numbers so far forward on
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: your car?
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: Why the numbers far forward? Yeah. They're forward on all
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: the cup cars now because they added more sponsorship placement
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: on the door. So in the past, the number was
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: dead center of the door. So you didn't have as
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: much sponsor placement. You had it over to quarter panel,
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: like over to quarter panels, like where the seat post
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: comes down. Yeah, sure. Where it says shell. That used
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: to be all you had. And the number was in
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: the middle. So you didn't have much area to put sponsorship.
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: Now the number is all the way forward. We can
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: put a big old Penzo logo right there. And they
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: like that. Penzo wants that. Yeah, they want that. That
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: looks sharp to you? Yeah. I think it looks sharp too.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: I just want to know your opinion. That does look good.
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: Do you know how much it would cost to get
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: a small bumper sticker put on your car? I mean,
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: what size are we? Something like that. Something small.
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: I mean, we'll need it bigger than that, right?
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: How big do you want it? Hold on one second.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: We want it to go across.
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: All the way across?
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: No, no, not all the way across. I'm just saying
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: like long enough.
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: Long. Kind of like the NASCAR. I like that NASCAR thing.
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: On the bumper, on the back. What's that Mustang you're
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: building worth? How much is it worth and how much
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: you get into it? Two different things. No, no, I'm
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: just saying, you're gonna let me drive it? Your Mustang? No,
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: let me drive your Mustang. Yeah, I'll let you drive it.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: I'll absolutely drive it.
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: You gotta sign a couple of waivers, couple of things. Technically,
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: I'm making promises I can't keep here. I don't own
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: the car. Yeah. I just drive the car.
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: Just drive the car. Is there a way to sneak
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: something on?
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: Yeah, like similar to like when cars come out and
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: there's a long wait list, like you have a way
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: to get to the front of the line.
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: I mean, I think we can put a little sticker
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: on it. Or a small little bushing with the boys.
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: I think like inside the car or something, maybe like
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: an interior.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: No, not inside the car.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: Well, but then like the in-car camera can see it though.
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: It'll be exposure because you have the in-car camera. Does
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: that count? He's got a point. Does that count?
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it counts.
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it counts. like can you I mean put sponsors
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: back there yeah do you control any of the sponsors
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: very few I mean I have relationships with them but
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: yeah you control some yeah and you're like do you
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: ever like do pro bono like kind of like how
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: lawyers do for people that can't afford their own litigation
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: do you Yeah, I do favors all the time for people.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: For my voice.
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: Yeah, for the voice.
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: I remember sitting on this bus with you and being like,
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: once you're loyal to me, I'll do anything. I feel
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: very loyal to you right now.
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah. I'm just wondering how loyal I feel. I'm
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: trying to put your sticker on my car. I'm about that.
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: We're talking the same language. I mean, I feel like
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: we're pretty close to the same language. What's your favorite animal?
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: Maybe an accent, a little different, but pretty close.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: Favorite animal.
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: Favorite animal?
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. I tell you what,
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: I got three new goats today. I haven't met them yet,
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: but I know I got three goats coming.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: You say a goat is your favorite animal?
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: Well, I don't know if my favorite animal. Well, I
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: tell you what, I got a big poison ivy problem
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: at home. I told you I like riding quads a lot. Yeah.
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: And there's a lot of poison ivy back there and
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: we've got it on us too many times. I said,
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: screw it. So I'm getting goats. I got two goats already.
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: We're going to get more goats and we're going to
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: eat that poison ivy right up because I'm sick of
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: being itchy.
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: We could do like- So right now, yeah, sure.
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: That's my favorite animal.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: A stuffed goat.
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: And he's wearing something cute and that something cute. It's
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: just got. busted with the boys on it. And you
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: can set it. you know, wherever you want inside for
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: the camera.
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: I didn't know you were going with that. Oh, so
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: you weren't. But I'm saying it's got a way.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: Hey, I like driving with my stuffed goat.
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: Yeah. It's my good luck charm. It's a whole different level.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: It's my good luck charm. And then everybody be fascinated.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: Look at that goat. Oh man, he's rocking a bus
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: with the boys.
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: What's a shirt on that goat? What's going on? Is
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: that a bus with the boys shirt on the goat?
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: We're kind of on the same. Wow.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: We are kind of on the same.
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: It would set you apart from everybody else. Yeah. At
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: the end of the day, what are we trying to do, man?
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: You know, set apart. Yeah.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Can't be better if you're not different. Exactly.
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: I used to get poison ivy so badly when I
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: was little that I'd be naked, pink calamine lotion all
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: over my body and just sitting naked in front of
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: a van. Dude, it gets so bad. I couldn't like
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: open my eyes when I wake up in the morning.
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: That's really bad. You got it really bad. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: Rubbing it all over you? I guess.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: We'd be playing outside a lot and kind of have like,
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: you know, whether it's a, what do you call them?
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: Like a little... Not a tree house because we'd just
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: be in the weeds and shit.
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: But we'd think of it as like our house. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: You thought it was weeds. Yeah.
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: It wasn't weeds. Damn.
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: Our little secret spot, but it'd just be poison ivy.
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: Yeah, you need to get it.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: I get it so bad.
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: That sounds awful. Yeah. See, that's why I got to
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: move to Arizona. There's no poison. I'll let you borrow
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: some goats.
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: A lot of my body covered in this pink alimony lotion.
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: There'd be three floor fans sitting around me and I'd
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: just have to sit there like after my mom put
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: it on me and I'd just be sitting in the
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: living room floor budget.
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: Just toes to head.
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: That's brutal. That is brutal. Yeah.
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: So we can definitely have the conversation of a bumper
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: sticker bust with the boys bumper sticker.
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: I mean, I think we can have a talk about it.
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: I mean, again, I don't own the car. I'm making. Yeah,
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: we got to talk to Penske.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: Yeah. We'll talk to Penske.
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll get on the horn with them. Yeah.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: Hey, Dr. P.
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: What's going on, man? Plus with the boys here.
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: Hope you're doing well. Hey, we were talking to Joey
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: on the bus. I don't know if you saw the episode.
- 1:30:35Speaker 3: And he said this is a great idea and we
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: should talk to you guys about it.
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: And he said he promised it without fully promising it.
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: Just said we had to call Dr. P.
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: And we want your drivers to have great people. You
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: have my endorsement. I don't know about. The rest of it.
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: I'll take that. But I can help push that along.
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: Maybe a Bustin' with the Boys fire suit. Now you're
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: going too far. Okay, yeah, you're right. That's too far.
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: You know what?
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: We've got to find the envelope somewhere. You were in
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: a good spot. Yeah. Then you brought the goat in,
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: pushing a little much. I don't know if I want
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: a little stuffed animal goat hanging out in my car.
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: I don't know if I need that.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: Just trying to be creative.
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: Fire hazard.
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: Fire hazard.
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: That's a good point. Fire hazard. That would be the reason, obviously. Well,
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: you saw the things you don't want to do. It's
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: pretty easy to land on the bumper sticker now, right?
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: I mean- Within reason, I believe so. I believe so. Yeah,
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: I think we can all find that reason. We need
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: to talk. We need to talk.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: Because we don't know if we can either. So we
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: can't make that promise, but we- You know.
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: If you can do that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We don't
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: control the sponsors. So can we trade it out then?
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: Does that make more sense? Okay. Like if you're getting,
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: can I get something in here? Like, do I get
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: placement in here? If you're getting placement on a race car?
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: Wait a minute. I mean, because I thought we were- No, no, no.
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: It's definitely give and take.
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: Let me ask you, your perfect world, what is your-
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: I think I got it.
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: He could put one of his, maybe two of his
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: Ford dealership vehicles, like he'd park it here.
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: Oh, wow. You see how that works? Yeah. Huh.
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: We'll break them in for you up to 2,000 miles.
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: Oh, it's like a test driver. We'll do that for you.
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: Great idea.
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: Whoa, wow. You guys are super kind. That's a great idea.
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: Get your name on the license plate. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: What if that bus went to Boise?
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: How about up there? Is it Joey Logano? Ooh, that
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: would look better. No, I think that's a good trade-out.
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: That's really expensive real estate. That's a pretty good deal. Oh,
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: and my car's not? Oh, no, I'm just saying. He's
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: saying it's a fair trade. Yeah, it's a fair trade. Like,
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: if you want to talk about us on your hood.
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: How much is busting with the boys paying you to
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: put that helmet right there? That's, that's.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: We know a couple guys.
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: We got a guy on the inside. Yeah, exactly. We
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: got a guy on the inside.
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: Yeah. That's a big, that's a big piece of real estate.
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: That's a big, really. I didn't, I wasn't ready for
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: you to negotiate so hard.
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: You want to talk about that one? I mean, that,
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: you know, we can talk post-show.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: Whoa, wait, the Vandal?
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: The cost of, yeah.
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: Oh, with the cost.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: The cost.
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: Oh, I thought we were trade. I thought it was a,
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: you know. Oh, we do trade for sure. But that's
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: like for a small bumper sticker. I mean, you were
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: talking about the size of that NASCAR one. That's what
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: you're talking about. Say it again. You were talking about
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: the size of the NASCAR logo back there. That's a
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: pretty big bumper sticker. Have you seen a bumper sticker
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: that big? That is a pretty big bumper sticker.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: We can do that right there.
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that looks good. Just put my smiling face right there.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: But I mean, that size bumper sticker? Is that too big?
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: Is that what you want? Is that what you're going for?
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: I kind of like it a long ways. Again, I
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: don't have any control of this. I like it a
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: long ways because I think of a car, his car,
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: up to another car, and then they'd be able to
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: see it right there. It's just one driver. One driver
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: sees it.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: In the goat thing, we could do that for your daughter.
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: So whenever you want to race and you hug her,
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: she'll be carrying the stuffed goat.
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: We'll find out their favorite animals. There's a good idea.
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: I like that idea. But now we're given two things.
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: He's only given one. We don't want to overextend ourselves.
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: Fair, but he could be our guy. He could be
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: like our driver.
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: True.
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: We've got some good drivers on here.
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: We've got some great drivers on here.
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: We are playing favorites. I have a lot of recency bias, but.
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: He could be our guy. But now you have a
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: real shoe on here. Yeah. Bring it back to the shoe.
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: Yeah, we got a shoe who's won two of the
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: last four. This is where they start to get hot.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: It is 2026, even number year.
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: Yep. Can you find a better one?
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: I don't think so. I don't think so. I think
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: this is a perfect way to end the show.
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: This is a great episode.
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: Yeah. Let's give a round of applause for Joey Logano.
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: Thank you very much.
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: I don't know what happened there.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: I went for a handshake.
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: I'll go for a handshake. Really appreciate you, bro. Please subscribe.
