Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Fertility, health and Coming Back to the Self, an opportunity to go deeper into your journey of life, and all this can encompass with your host, liz Walton.
- 0:19Speaker 1: This podcast follows the threads of life and the journey of fertility on every level emotional, physical, spiritual and the consciousness we consider our health and what that means in our lives today, and we bring all of this together with coming home to ourselves, the conscious and unconscious journey of life and how we traverse this in the best way possible.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I am so grateful and humbled you are here, and a beautiful hello to everybody out there today, whether you may be watching or listening, watching on YouTube or listening in the car or wherever you may be.
- 1:06Speaker 1: May this be a space of love, of healing and of learning and we can take a breath in with that.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Thank you so much for being here today, and this is Liz Walton, and I am really honoured and feeling profoundly, really excited about this conversation today.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I'm here with the lovely Kat Wheeler, and Kat Wheeler does a lot with the womb and womb massage and I'm just so excited about this subject.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Thank you, kat, for being here today.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Thank you so much, Leds, for having me.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Oh, the honour is all mine and I know we're going to dive into all things womb and also hear about your journey as well, because it was interesting just chatting a few seconds ago that you know you had a journey with your first child as well, which I didn't necessarily realise.
- 2:01Speaker 1: So, yeah, and the womb, we know we're women and we know, as women, we have a womb and what does that mean?
- 2:12Speaker 1: And for me, nothing.
- 2:13Speaker 1: It was nothing until I had to try and try and try and try and try to get pregnant.
- 2:19Speaker 1: And although I was doing the medical part of IVFs, and although I was doing the medical part of IVFs, it wasn't until I really had to look inside and look at who I was as a woman and then those aspects of myself that then I started to learn about the womb and then that opened up a whole new world.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So I'm really excited to be able to have more of your knowledge about this.
- 2:50Speaker 1: So I'm going to just talk a bit about who Kat is on her wonderful site and about Kat.
- 2:54Speaker 1: So she says welcome to Reconnected Woman.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Oh, I love that.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm Kat, a mother of two, deeply passionate about guiding women on their sacred journey of self-love and deeper connection.
- 3:06Speaker 1: My life feels like a tapestry, woven with so many experiences and each thread shaping the work I embody today.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Oh gosh, cat, I love this.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Motherhood has been my most profound initiation.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Indeed, it is breaking me open to face the raw and tender parts of myself.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I've gone through birth trauma, premature births, episiotomy, stuck placenta, chronic pain, fatigue, burnout and disconnection with my body.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I hear that.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I hear that.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I hear that.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Thank you for sharing.
- 3:39Speaker 1: These challenges have transformed my life, leading me to a place of deep reverence, care for my body and sanctuary I never knew was possible.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Wow, yeah, I've been drawn to holistic living and healing arts, although not the environment I grew up in.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I've learned to trust and explore what calls my attention.
- 4:03Speaker 1: My studies include sacred sexuality, yoga, pilates, trauma-informed and somatic processing, embodiment massage, womb and fertility massage and womb work.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I cherish rituals and the mystic aspects of our feminine essence and love, weaving sound plant allies, embodiment and pleasure into my daily living.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I just, oh, I feel like this sings to me with the highest sensitivity to the world around me.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I have a natured ability to sense subtle shifts in energy.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Supporting the work I offer, I am in awe of the body's natural capacity to heal, yes, and transform, and my mission is to help women connect to their body and remember that everything they need lies within them.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Yes, through creating safe, sacred spaces, you can become the woman you were born to be.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Wow, and Kat offers womb massage, online semantic sessions, gathering designed to nurture and empower the woman.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Oh, I feel like this, just this beautiful, you know beautiful, comfy, like shawl, come over me as I talk to you today.
- 5:25Speaker 1: So, kat, I feel like I'm going to hand this over to you because you have this wonderful words that are going to be shared.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Tell me about you and your story and what's brought you to this work of connecting with the womb, and how is this important for us as women and on the fertility journey.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I know that's a lot, but we'll slowly go through that.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Thank you so much thank you so much, liz.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Yes, I'm Kat Wheeler from Reconnected Woman and we will gently unfurl with this conversation because there's so many layers to it.
- 6:02Speaker 2: But but thank you for that introduction.
- 6:04Speaker 2: It feels different.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Someone else reading out my words to me.
- 6:07Speaker 2: It puts up emotion because it has been such a big journey for me.
- 6:15Speaker 2: So my journey started off in the fitness world.
- 6:20Speaker 2: I was doing Pilates and I was a personal trainer and my focus was mainly with women and on women's bodies and I was trying to get pregnant with my first and that was not happening.
- 6:37Speaker 2: But I'd gone from like school to study, to work and then all of a sudden decided I want to be a mum now.
- 6:47Speaker 2: But I was totally disconnected from my body, in my womb and in this cycle of work, work, work, do, do, do, push, push, push, there's um self-judgment, all of that as well, and I was wondering why I wasn't getting pregnant.
- 7:06Speaker 2: And then I get in this cycle of you know, as so many women can resonate with of thinking that I'm wrong or that you know there's something wrong with me, there's something that needs fixing, and that was sort of like the, the seed of my my journey um into the womb and into emotional work, somatic work, energetic work.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I'd always been drawn to the women's body.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I was fascinated by the body and how it worked, but so many layers to it and we just never stopped learning about it.
- 7:43Speaker 2: And so that's really exciting too, because it's it's a constant evolution of the, the knowledge and then the wisdom that we can experience within ourself.
- 7:55Speaker 2: And so, with womb work and what you were talking about before with you know the womb and it being this, this space within us that you know babies, and that's what I thought of it too.
- 8:08Speaker 2: So prior to becoming pregnant, I had no, no knowledge of my, my womb.
- 8:14Speaker 2: We didn't get taught that in school or our reproductive system.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Really, we don't know, and I'm fascinated by the emotional and energetics with life and how that connects with you know, the physical manifestation of things, and so our womb space is actually our seat of our intuition and our creativity and our sensuality and our wisdom and our sexuality and our sensuality and our wisdom and our sexuality and our pleasure, and so many women, myself included, were or are still disconnected from this.
- 8:53Speaker 2: So it's no wonder that things aren't flowing for us or things aren't happening for us, because we're not, even we don't know this information and then we're not acknowledging it and then embodying it.
- 9:06Speaker 2: So there's just so much layers with the womb and it's fascinating, and obviously it's our whole body.
- 9:14Speaker 2: But yeah, this work with womb massage is something that has opened up so much for me and it just continues to.
- 9:27Speaker 2: And what we get confused with, with the, with our bodies and with our womb, is that it's not always the information isn't always this logical or the aha or this.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Unlike this logical understanding, we're going right into the core of ourselves.
- 9:46Speaker 2: So the womb obviously is where we birth life and where life comes from, but it's also where our creativity comes from, where we plant our seeds, our ancestral lineage and all of that as well.
- 10:00Speaker 2: So when we come into our body, sometimes we feel like there's nothing there or that, oh, it's numb or I don't know what I'm feeling.
- 10:10Speaker 2: And so when you go deeper into that core of you, that womb space, it can feel like, huh, there's nothing really going on here, you know, and it's because it's not coming from like our logical mind, it it's coming from within us.
- 10:24Speaker 2: So it can take time and it can be like the answers can be really subtle, or the information within us can be really subtle, or it can feel different because we're not used to it, we're not getting like.
- 10:38Speaker 2: This is the answer A, B, c.
- 10:40Speaker 2: It's a gentle unfurling.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Or, as we were talking about um in previously to this conversation, is that it can be like a dark night of the soul.
- 10:52Speaker 2: So once you start doing some body work, somatic work, coming into your emotions, it can unwrap.
- 11:01Speaker 2: It's like opening up a can of worms.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Yeah, so sometimes women are um, and that's just part of the journey, as we were talking about.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Sometimes women are like my life was fine before this, I'm not getting pregnant, I just need someone to tell me how to fix myself.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Start coming into the body and memories come up, or emotions come up, or sensations come up that feel really confronting and they're like, oh my gosh, like what do I do with all this?
- 11:28Speaker 2: And so, with womb massage, it's been a space that has allowed women to come into their body and first start creating that safety within themselves.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Stuff's still coming up, it still can be confronting, but it feels more gentle and you're held and if you think about it like, womb massage is often the first time a woman has experienced deep touch and nurture to her body.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Yeah, isn't medical or sexual.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so true.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Like that's huge.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Yeah, that's like a breath, isn't it?
- 12:09Speaker 1: It's like wow.
- 12:10Speaker 1: When do we do that for ourselves?
- 12:13Speaker 2: No, when, when do we even touch our bodies?
- 12:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I know so many women, myself included, that you know, don't put our hands on our bodies.
- 12:23Speaker 2: We're not able to, not not even our pleasure but like sexual pleasure, but our sensuality.
- 12:31Speaker 2: You know, and maybe we didn't experience that from our caregivers, but I know in the past when, when I was rolling over in bed, like my husband would put his hand on my belly and I would just move it away because it was like a reaction like hey, kind of there.
- 12:52Speaker 2: And it wasn't until I started, you know, connecting with my body and feeling safe in my body, that I could bring in self-touch and then bring in touch from other people.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Wow, I really, really hear that I always felt like I have and I suppose I'm still working on it always, you know, a really negative connection with my belly.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I have a background of sexual abuse as well and had a really awfully, you know, really bad relationship with my own body, and it was, you know, really bad relationship with my own body and it was, you know, really, through my fertility journey, where I realized, you know, I need to change this landscape, I need to change my language and how I think and feel about this, because I'm telling my body to get pregnant and yet telling it I hate it, you know, so like that, I am confusing my body and my mind, you know, so surmountably so it was and it was a big thing to turn it around.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I think this is what really got me into understanding about the womb and, oh my God, of course, my body's upset and confused and no wonder why I can't get pregnant and I need to bring me home.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I need to make sure I'm in alignment instead of, you know, giving it one, one thing to do and then another thing to do and then attacking it here and attacking it there.
- 14:12Speaker 1: So, and this is where I I feel this is so important because we don't know, and I feel that this is just so beautiful and it was life-changing to learn to love my body instead of, you know, hate it.
- 14:26Speaker 2: I can totally, totally resonate with that, and language is a huge thing, like language is our spells.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Our words are our spells, right, and our body's listening to that.
- 14:36Speaker 2: So if we're and what happens is like we think we're doing all the right things and we think, well, I'm doing this, or I'm getting this done, or I'm eating well, or I'm exercising or whatever it is to, you know, support our fertility journey or support our self-love journey or our reconnection journey, but, like, the underlying voices is, that is, that you need to do more.
- 14:59Speaker 2: You're not doing it right, you're not enough.
- 15:01Speaker 2: You know, like you're wrong, you're broken, like why aren't I?
- 15:05Speaker 2: You know, like you're wrong, you're broken, like why aren't I getting better?
- 15:07Speaker 2: Why aren't I?
- 15:07Speaker 2: You know we're waiting for this end goal to be fully fixed, fully healed, which doesn't exist, because there's always something.
- 15:17Speaker 2: It's not really about fixing or healing, it's just about meeting ourselves at another level, like, in another perspective.
- 15:26Speaker 2: If you think about, like, how a spiral works, you know we're just meeting ourselves in a different energy each time.
- 15:32Speaker 2: So when things come up for us and we're like I thought I worked through this, yeah, you did and you have, but you'll be meeting it as a new version of you, through new eyes, and so language is huge when it comes to connecting to our body and self-love and our womb space.
- 15:54Speaker 2: And you know, obviously, the medical system.
- 15:56Speaker 2: It's very logical and it's very masculine.
- 15:59Speaker 2: So it can.
- 16:00Speaker 2: You know, the language in it can be quite confronting and disempowering, and I've spoken to a lot of women that have gone down this path of the fertility journey and there's no wrong or right way to do this.
- 16:14Speaker 2: But I do feel, as you say, with your fertility journey, was that like initiation, that space for you to yes, it was hard and probably long and feel like it was never ending.
- 16:30Speaker 2: But each time you're probably meeting yourself with new eyes, with new love, and it's all our body, like we're given so much information and our bodies hold so much information.
- 16:42Speaker 2: But it's about learning to meet ourselves with compassion and it's always like, when we're experiencing pain or sensations that are uncomfortable, it's always an invitation to invite, in that self-compassion, to come back to, like all right, deeper listening what's going on here.
- 17:04Speaker 2: You know, what do I need?
- 17:06Speaker 2: How do I support myself?
- 17:07Speaker 2: What do I actually need right now?
- 17:10Speaker 2: Not what society tells me or the pressures or the patterns that have been placed on me, and so language is huge with just our connection to ourselves, and it's a daily devotion, it's a daily commitment, it's that constant picking ourselves up of.
- 17:33Speaker 2: You know where we're telling ourselves we're not enough, or comparing ourselves or whatever we're doing and just going hand on your heart hand on your heart, you're okay.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:48Speaker 2: You're okay, like reassuring yourself.
- 17:50Speaker 2: You know you don't go to the gym once and you're fit.
- 17:55Speaker 2: You don't go to your chiro once and your back's feeling better, you don't get your.
- 18:00Speaker 2: You know, it's that commitment all the time, and so our language and our mind is constantly receiving information from the outside world that can trigger us, but from our own world, inner world, and so it's just discerning and navigating all of that as well.
- 18:16Speaker 2: It's a lot.
- 18:17Speaker 1: It's so much it is.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I work a lot now with language, with my own understanding, and then, you know, did a lot of training of understanding language and I love how you put our words or our spells, and it's true, it's our affirmations.
- 18:33Speaker 1: You know I'm rubbish, I'm not good enough.
- 18:35Speaker 1: You know I am okay.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I can try harder.
- 18:38Speaker 1: You know not try harder, but I can do my best and that's good enough.
- 18:42Speaker 1: You know I am.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I am fertile instead of, oh, my body's rubbish.
- 18:47Speaker 1: You know all those little things make a huge shift in our own energy.
- 18:57Speaker 2: And this is this is the.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I'm trying not to swear, it's okay.
- 19:00Speaker 2: The mystery that comes with it is that when you are on a fertility journey and you become really sensitive to every sensation within your body because you're like, oh, is that, it, is that something and that in itself is an invitation to feel more of what's going on within yourself, like that's already telling you how powerful is my body, that it is constantly giving me information, anything related to making a baby and fertility, but that's what we're thinking when we're on the fertility journey, but it's actually a reminder of, like do you know how, how incredible you are, how powerful your body is?
- 19:44Speaker 2: And then it's like each month, when your bleed comes, there's that disappointment.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like what language are we using in those moments?
- 19:52Speaker 2: Like we we turn straight to disappointment within ourselves, straight to criticism, criticism and judgment, instead of looking at that as that's another opportunity to physically release what's happening within me, unlike if we look at our bleed.
- 20:14Speaker 2: It's a physical release of the things that we're holding onto, that we can let go of, and so, like our luteal phase is that time where, you know, women experience PMS and things like that.
- 20:26Speaker 2: But they might be just opportunities for awareness around certain triggers and patterns and beliefs that we can work through and then lead time physically bleed out of ourselves.
- 20:41Speaker 2: So if patterns are coming up through that fertility journey of my body's wrong, I'm not doing enough like journal on that.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Let your be with those emotions, you know.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Get some information from that.
- 20:55Speaker 2: What's it trying to tell you what?
- 20:57Speaker 2: What's actually happening here, and is it a chance for me to notice that they're?
- 21:04Speaker 2: They're not my thoughts.
- 21:05Speaker 2: They don't come from me.
- 21:06Speaker 2: That's from my mother, or that was my grandmother's story, that was from my dad, or that was my brother, or that was that teacher that said something to me, or that was society, or that was that.
- 21:18Speaker 2: You know there's so many layers to it and then our bleed being that physical manifestation of it.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Imagine if we went into our fertility journey without the pressure and the expectation of get pregnant like that yeah and use it as a time for this initiation, use it as a time to like enter into this motherhood.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I love that.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Vision, with as much like truth of ourselves, rather than all the patterns that we've carried.
- 21:52Speaker 2: You know, bringing life into the world, yeah, you know, we don't want to be carrying.
- 21:59Speaker 2: We're going to carry stuff, obviously, but we don't want everything with.
- 22:03Speaker 2: We don't want to be taking that backpack with us.
- 22:05Speaker 2: So we looked at our fertility journey like this.
- 22:08Speaker 2: It's like from that time that you start, yes, I want to become a mum, and this is why I want to become a mother, and using that space, that this month, this month, this month, this and that's going to take a bit of time.
- 22:23Speaker 2: And I think we would have more compassion and love for ourselves if we looked at our journey like that, rather than I want to be a mum, need to start a family now, need to get pregnant now.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, I mean it's oh.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I remember always attacking my body for having a period and then again realizing with language.
- 22:47Speaker 1: It's about having joy that it's working.
- 22:53Speaker 1: And I know I spoke to someone recently and they were saying, you know, a women's menstruation is now being.
- 22:58Speaker 1: It's our fifth vitality sign, you know.
- 23:03Speaker 1: It shows that we are vibrant, we are healthy, we are, you know, fertile, you know.
- 23:10Speaker 1: So I was like oh, I love that.
- 23:13Speaker 1: You know it's our fifth vital sign.
- 23:14Speaker 1: And new ways.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I love how you spoke about new ways of seeing when we have our period and we've had our next menstruation cycle.
- 23:25Speaker 1: It's not a time to attack, but a time to actually have new realisations.
- 23:32Speaker 1: And you know, like you say, be more gentle with the self.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Yeah, imagine if we thanked our body for having the cycle.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and we didn't get taught the.
- 23:46Speaker 2: I don't know about you growing up, um, but we didn't get taught, like, about our menstrual cycle or anything no but like very basic, that you, you bleed once a month and that's about all we learned.
- 23:58Speaker 2: But also um, what was I going to say?
- 24:05Speaker 2: I've gone on a tangent um the that's okay.
- 24:10Speaker 2: We were saying thank you to our body, our body in the period for me personally, I was on the pill from like age 18 to 26.
- 24:21Speaker 2: So, like you know, a very like eight years I mean nearly 10 years on the pill it's a synthetic period, it's not even a real period and I'm connecting to my natural cycle.
- 24:40Speaker 2: My hormones are all changed and shifted and there's, you know, stuff going on there.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Hormones are all changed and shifted and there's, you know, stuff going on there.
- 24:41Speaker 2: So to even consider that I go off the pill for a month and you hear this women go off the pill for a month and they get pregnant.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Women, you know, take out the IUD and they get pregnant or whatever it is.
- 24:54Speaker 2: There's so much misconception around it.
- 24:56Speaker 2: But for me to think, looking back now, obviously when I'm in it, it was confronting.
- 25:05Speaker 2: But to think that my body would come off something that's been on something synthetic for so long and had a natural cycle and I've never connected to that cycle expect my body to fall pregnant, like, and then judge my body each time it had a real cycle, like each time I bled, yeah, from my like, real blood from my body, like isn't that crazy to think that I would judge myself, my body?
- 25:39Speaker 2: I would hate my body for doing what it's naturally trying to do.
- 25:43Speaker 2: You know, if I looked at that as like a reset of my body, rather than it's not working, I'm not woman enough.
- 25:52Speaker 2: My body's not a woman.
- 25:55Speaker 2: It doesn't know what it's doing.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think as well it's being able to take that breath and to slow down and to almost.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I don't know if it's better to say, see the self, but realize what we're doing, because it becomes to pause and open up what we are actually doing.
- 26:16Speaker 1: That you know, when we actually say we're attacking, we're judging the body, that you, that I think we can look at ourselves and go, wow, yeah, that's, that's not nice, is it what we're doing?
- 26:36Speaker 1: But we don't realize it and that's where I I also feel it's is the.
- 26:41Speaker 2: The gift of the fertility path is we're having to stop and breathe and take time and pause and truly look yeah, yeah, if you think about like, you wouldn't speak to a child like that in doing what it's meant to do, you wouldn't speak to a child like that in doing what it's meant to do.
- 27:02Speaker 2: You wouldn't say, well, your body's dirty or wrong or whatever, but you wouldn't speak to your inner child like that.
- 27:09Speaker 2: And then you know, being a mother, you want to be able to speak to yourself as a mother, as a woman, with compassion, so that you teach your kids that as well.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Your babies are seeing their mother kind, forgiving, loving to themselves.
- 27:29Speaker 2: So it is, as you say, such a gift.
- 27:33Speaker 2: You are on this fertility journey and you are struggling.
- 27:37Speaker 2: I hope you listen to this and use this as, oh, it's only going to make me a more self-compassionate mother.
- 27:47Speaker 2: There's so much magic in that.
- 27:49Speaker 2: There's such a gift in that.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, there is such a gift and it's I don't know, it's so funny because it's in the womb that such creation happens and it grows a baby and we kind of take it for granted that it does that.
- 28:10Speaker 1: And learning to.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Well, for me as well, learning to.
- 28:17Speaker 1: And even now, you know, when I can look at my you as I'm, I'm now sort of going through that next bridge of coming.
- 28:25Speaker 1: You know menopause and you know learning to.
- 28:29Speaker 1: You know I still have to still remember to love my body, you know, and it's, um, it's such a gift, I think, to learn about the womb and, as you say, it's our intuition, it's our space of creativity and that gentle unfurling.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I just love how you put those words for the womb, because we forget.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Yeah, we do forget, and life is a constant returning home, you know, a remembering every day.
- 29:05Speaker 2: It is giving ourselves those moments to remember that we do have wisdom within us, we creativity, we do have power, we do have love.
- 29:17Speaker 2: You know, there's so much focus on all the trauma and it's so valid, but just remembering how powerful you are, that capacity to hold so much love and that ability to experience so much pleasure through your senses, through your body, like that in itself is just that's everything it is.
- 29:46Speaker 1: It really, really is to be able to nourish the body because, again, I journey and you know our fertile self, our fertility journey self and the womb words or advice or ideas can we share or can you share with women about.
- 30:27Speaker 2: You know why it's important when you're in a fertility journey to understand the womb and how that connects to our fertility, mm-hmm, just with going back to your creativity and that intuition and that safety within your body, like that's all held in our womb, like if we come back to our center, that core within us, if you can offer yourself play and pleasure, things that you would have done as a, as a kid or a teenager, that made you laugh, that got you present within your body, you know that's going to amplify the sensations within you, which is going to reconnect you to love yeah you know playfulness, if we think about the energy of baby, it's like purity, it's this, it's this beautiful playful energy.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Yeah, into that creativity within you and I don't necessarily mean creativity is go out and paint, because women are going to be listening to this going.
- 31:46Speaker 2: I'm not an artist, I'm not a painter or whatever, but maybe it was ballet classes that you loved yeah it's just laying out in the sun reading your books yeah giving yourself those micro moments, because then we're not living right.
- 32:02Speaker 2: We're trying to bring life into the world and we're not fully living ourselves.
- 32:07Speaker 2: And that doesn't mean we get to laze around in the sun all day.
- 32:11Speaker 2: That would be amazing.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Some days we can.
- 32:14Speaker 2: But if you're in like a full-time job and you're thinking I don't have time or don't have space, or that your life is going to change anyway, like so, so much when you become a mum and bring life into the world.
- 32:27Speaker 2: So give yourself this now.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Connect to that creativity within you, connect to your sensuality, touch your body, put your hands on your body.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Not many of us are doing that like just like massaging ourself.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Massage was such a huge gift to connecting to my body.
- 32:51Speaker 2: And if we think about the heart, the, the womb, and the heart and the throat are all connected.
- 32:56Speaker 2: They share the same energetic pathways and so many of women are closed off in their voice yeah coming back to that creativity sing, put music on and sing.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I get.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Get that energy moving through you.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Living in such this mask world where we need to know everything, we need to have everything sort of planned out, and so many women say I want to connect to my feminine, I want to connect to my feminine, I'm like, well, just place your hands on your womb, feel what's like there's, there's power there.
- 33:31Speaker 2: I love that.
- 33:33Speaker 2: I feel like it in this moment.
- 33:35Speaker 2: But the more you start touching your body, stroking your hair, you know bringing light, touch to yourself and it might feel foreign because you didn't have that nurture or nourishment or safety growing up.
- 33:50Speaker 2: But it's about you, as a woman, creating that for yourself and it's going to feel different when you start that and you haven't experienced it before.
- 34:00Speaker 2: So, coming back to that, and then that's only going to connect you to your intuition, you know, to that self-trust.
- 34:11Speaker 2: So many of us want to trust ourselves, we want to trust our bodies, but we're constantly seeking outside of ourselves for someone to tell us what to do.
- 34:20Speaker 2: We just want to hear it from someone else's mouth.
- 34:22Speaker 2: You know that's what we've been told our whole life act like this, behave like this.
- 34:28Speaker 2: You can't do this, you can do this.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Like there's so many rules on especially women, that when we're trying to figure out what we actually want, what we actually want, how we want to feel, how we want to move through life, it feels foreign, it feels weird, because we're so used to asking permission to exist yeah you know, connecting when we connect with our womb, it's.
- 34:54Speaker 2: It's not all love and light either, not all this lovely creativity, play childhood, it's like the core of it, it's the, it's the rage, it's the grief yeah through loss, if you've experienced miscarriage like there is grief held in in our womb, our heart again, our voice yeah gotta move through us somewhere yeah so our hips, our pelvis, our womb holds so much emotion.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Our bodies hold so much emotion.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Our organ, different organs, hold so much emotion.
- 35:29Speaker 2: That's why womb massage is really beautiful, because we don't just work on the womb space, we work on the back, the glutes, shoulders, different meridian points, different energy pathways to help release emotions and energies and things like that.
- 35:45Speaker 2: So some women think they're just coming to have their belly touched and that in itself is confronting is a lot.
- 35:52Speaker 2: But as soon as they walk through the door, as soon as they book that womb massage, stuff's already coming up for them.
- 36:00Speaker 2: And some women will walk in the door and they're like I don't know why I'm crying yeah and so we have, we have a consultation, and we have a very thorough consultation, and we, we sort of I, I tend to say we get everything out on the table as much as the woman feels comfortable with wow, yeah getting her on the table and we do her back and her glutes and her shoulders and all that first so that she has that space to land and that permission given to me before turning her over and and working on her.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Sacred space includes, you know, the diaphragm, the organs within the tummy.
- 36:36Speaker 2: So much of our organs are in our abdominal space and so you might be holding on to different things.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Our mother line starts from our under our rib cage, like the center of a rib cage, down to our belly button and that you know.
- 36:51Speaker 2: That connection to our mother line, yeah, so that can be really sensitive, working on that, yeah yeah and stuff can come up.
- 36:59Speaker 2: So much emotions can come up.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's, it's powerful.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Women are like.
- 37:07Speaker 2: I know I've gone on a bit of a tangent, but no, it's beautiful to hear.
- 37:11Speaker 1: I love that, cause it's like, well, what is womb massage?
- 37:14Speaker 1: So I think that's beautiful to explain that, and I didn't know about the mother line.
- 37:19Speaker 1: But even hearing you, I almost had emotion coming up, just like like, oh, my body needs it.
- 37:25Speaker 1: I'm a massage therapist too, but just hearing how you described it and you know, I was just like, oh, you know, I want one.
- 37:34Speaker 1: But again, it's accessing the connection that we've lost, didn't realize, with our body, connecting to our womb, which connects us to a fertility and again I feel like brings us home and into alignment with all of our body.
- 37:57Speaker 2: It's attacking it, mm-hmm yeah and um, we don't realize and that's why I want to talk to you just how important connecting to the body, connecting to the womb, really is yeah, yeah, and we don't know what's going to unravel for us yeah because it is the body and it's a deep, dark, fertile space within us that holds so much wisdom and holds so much truth that we have and so much potential, like we just have no idea what is possible for us when we connect to that on so many levels, like relationship, career, birthing, our connection to our family, to ourselves.
- 38:53Speaker 2: There's so many layers to it and it's beautiful.
- 38:58Speaker 1: There really is, and, yeah, that's right, it's beautiful the good and the bad, the emotions that need to be dealt with, as well as the reconnection of wow, this is feeling so right and comfortable.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Why haven't I done this before?
- 39:13Speaker 1: It's good.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Yeah, so many women come out of curiosity Like it's supportive for women, postpartum women going through IVF, women going through even women with hysterectomy because we're still working with the side of it and the emotional body as well.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Yeah, Women that have womb pain endometriosis.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Oh really, endometriosis.
- 39:45Speaker 1: That's really good to hear.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't realize that.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Yes, any woman like struggling with cysts and things like that.
- 39:53Speaker 2: You know women that are going through relationship changes, divorce, career changes, women that never experienced, you know, a sacred transition into girlhoodhood.
- 40:07Speaker 2: You know from girlhood to womanhood or you know motherhood.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Whatever their journey, it's all women, and so a lot of women think it's for, uh, it's a pregnancy massage.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's.
- 40:24Speaker 2: It's actually not a pregnancy massage and there's just so much magic within this and so many women come in just because they're curious and they know there's a calling for them, that they know that they need to give their body some nurture or sacred space to be held so that they can start that journey of feeling safe in their body and their body.
- 40:53Speaker 2: And they just come because they're curious and they experience so much they're like I didn't realise this or I didn't know that was going to come up for me, and so we don't have any control over what's going to come up for me and so really we don't have we don't have any control over what's going to happen.
- 41:10Speaker 2: It is this mystic space within us which makes it really cool but also can be a bit scary, because you're walking into a space that is unknown territory, really, until you start connecting to that space and then you start building this trust with your body and so the things that may feel confronting don't really feel confronting anymore, because you've got so much trust and reverence within yourself that you know that this is the next layer and it doesn't take, you know, weeks or months to get through it.
- 41:46Speaker 2: It might take a couple of minutes or an hour or half a day and you can shift through these emotions and things differently.
- 41:56Speaker 1: And I think I'm hearing from that also how I'm hearing, that is, the body wants you to have your truth.
- 42:05Speaker 1: The body wants to be clear and healthy and so by these emotions, you know the issues are in our tissues, you know it by it, by healing what needs to happen.
- 42:19Speaker 1: You know, whenever it's come up, it is about letting go of the old and really coming home to that truth where you say like, within that, that deep space of nourishment, of nurture, but also of deep wisdom, isn't it?
- 42:34Speaker 1: It's like let's get rid of all this excuse my language shit yeah, it's.
- 42:40Speaker 2: It's a constant rebirthing and we get to have access to that, and we we get to allow ourselves to have that.
- 42:44Speaker 2: We get to plant seeds.
- 42:44Speaker 2: We get to have access to that and we get to allow ourselves to have that.
- 42:46Speaker 2: We get to plant seeds, we get to allow them to gently grow how they need to, and we get to rebirth and rejuvenate over and over.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Our body is not working against us.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Our bodies just want our love and acceptance.
- 43:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:05Speaker 2: And when we give ourselves that's, then we start to have a different relationship with ourselves and we see these as as not something that's um, you know a challenge or something to be judged, but you know something to be loved yeah, oh gosh, I love that, I love that.
- 43:23Speaker 1: And I remember, you know, for what you were saying earlier on about creating, I remember you know working so hard and you know why aren't I getting pregnant.
- 43:32Speaker 1: And I do remember a lovely woman going Liz, where are you creating?
- 43:37Speaker 1: And that was a big like ping going off in my head going, oh yeah, where am I creating?
- 43:44Speaker 1: And so that's where I really had to then start looking at what that was for me when is creating and what was creating and what does that mean to me creating?
- 43:58Speaker 1: And then you know, looking at my body creating, and where was I not giving it the space?
- 44:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's so beautiful, yeah, that's so beautiful that's so beautiful.
- 44:10Speaker 1: So yes, it's.
- 44:11Speaker 1: It's an interesting um journey to um, you know, find ourselves, isn't it?
- 44:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah and the womb is you know.
- 44:24Speaker 1: I love how you said it's like it's got all this ancient knowledge.
- 44:27Speaker 2: The womb is there, it knows yeah, there's so much focus on generational trauma and I don't discount that at all it's um so important to do that work, um.
- 44:39Speaker 2: But you know we get the gifts of our ancestors as well.
- 44:42Speaker 2: We get the gifts from our mother line as well.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Even if you're struggling to see that there are gifts within that that you have carried, you know you are a woman itself.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Your birthright is strength.
- 44:53Speaker 2: You know You're strong because you are here, because you are a woman.
- 44:58Speaker 1: I like that.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Your birthright is strength.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Oh, that's so good.
- 45:02Speaker 1: So I now feel everyone needs to have a womb massage.
- 45:08Speaker 1: I think that sounds absolutely awesome.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Let's all have a womb massage.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Tell us about you, where you are and how people can find you and book in with you.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Yeah, so I am on the Mornington Peninsula, which is in Victoria in Australia, and I am mainly on Instagram at reconnectedwoman, at reconnected underscore woman, and I have booking links on there to book in with me.
- 45:41Speaker 2: If you are in another state or another country, you can work with me online as well.
- 45:47Speaker 2: That doesn't include physical womb massage, but it does include, like somatic support, things like that, so we can work through creating a safe space in your body so that you can be and feel empowered.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Wow, that sounds so beautiful.
- 46:07Speaker 1: I so wish you were around when I was trying.
- 46:10Speaker 1: I wish.
- 46:13Speaker 2: I was trying as well.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Well, this is why we get into this work, isn't it?
- 46:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Because we really want to help people not have the pain that we had, and so I now am so grateful for my 10 years and all of the ups and downs and having to search, you know, my dark night of the soil, because now I have a beautiful blueprint that helped me support others.
- 46:38Speaker 1: So I really, you know it's it's good to honor our journeys, even though they were super tough oh for sure.
- 46:44Speaker 2: Yeah, nothing is, um, you know, wasted or not.
- 46:47Speaker 2: You don't go through anything just for the sake of it.
- 46:50Speaker 2: You know it's such a a beautiful gift.
- 46:53Speaker 2: You know, working through the pain and and the grief that life is, is always going to be, you know we're always going to be met with that sort of stuff and different layers of it.
- 47:03Speaker 2: So, looking at that, and at the time you don't realise it, but when you come out of it you're just so grateful for it.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I agree, I agree.
- 47:15Speaker 1: So, kat, as we sort of come to the end, I would love to ask you what I like to always see what are any take-homes that we can share with everybody, either watching or listening?
- 47:30Speaker 1: What would be some either some top tips that you can share with everybody about you know, your womb, your fertility and connecting to who you are as a woman, or anything else that you might feel is pertinent to share?
- 47:49Speaker 2: Yeah, go gently.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Yeah, go gently with yourself.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Your body has already been through so much and the patterns and things that you carry from birth until this point deserve your love and attention with compassion.
- 48:09Speaker 2: So take the time with yourself, place your hands on your body, start touching your body.
- 48:17Speaker 2: You know you're inviting in that natural thing that so many of us missed out on, and so it doesn't feel natural to begin with, but that inner mother within you is alive and she's there and she will be guiding you to trust your intuition and bring in that nurture and self-nourishment through your hands, through touch.
- 48:47Speaker 2: And so, placing your hands on your heart, inviting in breast massage you know if you're feeling numb in your womb space or that nothing's there.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Start with your heart.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Yeah, breast massage.
- 49:04Speaker 2: You know making beautiful rituals for yourself, daily rituals that can be as simple as your cup of coffee, cup of tea, cup of cacao, and just slowly sipping that outside in the sun as you just connect to your body, or maybe it's, you know, a stretch, stretch out in the sun on your yoga mat.
- 49:30Speaker 2: You know these little, tiny, micro things that you can do for yourself, that invite in that self-care, that nurture that love.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Looking at yourself in the mirror and just thanking your body and that can be confronting.
- 49:45Speaker 2: But to start with, just looking at yourself and how beautiful and powerful you are, acknowledging how much your body is already done for you, what it's got you through yeah.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Wow, I love all of those.
- 50:15Speaker 1: They are whether we're on a journey of fertility or not.
- 50:16Speaker 1: That's, those are beautiful things I think to do as a woman.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Anyway, I just love those.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Thank you for sharing them and I think I'll try and put those into social media posts because they're just so beautiful.
- 50:26Speaker 1: You know, wow, what a remembrance to remember to just, you know, touch the self and thank the self.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we overcomplicate things.
- 50:45Speaker 2: But you don't need to go to a day spa or you don't need to invest in heaps of money to yeah self it's, it's already right there for you yeah, ah, I love that, and what a beautiful space to finish is.
- 51:01Speaker 1: it's already right there for you, kat.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Thank you for these wonderful words of nourishment of you know deep, deep wisdom and how important it is to nourish ourselves and connect to our womb, plus giving an understanding of what womb massage is.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Thank you so much.
- 51:26Speaker 2: Thank you so much for having me.
- 51:27Speaker 1: It's been an absolute honor and an honor for me too.
- 51:31Speaker 1: So, um, I look forward to hopefully meeting you.
- 51:34Speaker 1: I want to come over and have a massage with you, hopefully meeting you um soon and um, thank you just huge.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Many thanks and um I am I so grateful you take care, beautiful cat.
- 51:48Speaker 2: Thank you so much, Liz.
- 51:50Speaker 1: And for everyone listening.
- 51:51Speaker 1: Just remember that for today, put your hands on your heart, your hands on your womb and say thank you.
- 52:04Speaker 3: And with this I shall bid thee goodbye, take care, thank you.
