- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, I'm Rose Carlio from Rose Calio Band and we
- 0:04Speaker 1: have a brand new album called forty two Days Fantastic.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Rose, thanks for joining us? Is that okay?
- 0:12Speaker 3: Thank you for having me my pleasure?
- 0:14Speaker 4: As you say, Rose Calio Band drop your new album
- 0:17Speaker 4: forty two Days the day May the fifteenth.
- 0:19Speaker 2: So how you feelt about it? Oh?
- 0:23Speaker 3: Excited?
- 0:24Speaker 1: Over the moon it's finally here. Yeah, really really happy.
- 0:31Speaker 1: It's a very personal album, as I guess all albums are,
- 0:35Speaker 1: but this is especially and we had to put it
- 0:38Speaker 1: off for about six months due to some commitments I
- 0:40Speaker 1: had earlier last year, so I had to Yeah, I
- 0:45Speaker 1: had to put it off. And here it is, finally fantastic.
- 0:49Speaker 4: So can you dive a bit deeper into it from
- 0:50Speaker 4: a musical point of view and tell us all you're
- 0:52Speaker 4: going forward with it?
- 0:55Speaker 3: Look, it's an honest album.
- 0:57Speaker 1: It's an album full of emotion and I guess real
- 1:01Speaker 1: life experience.
- 1:03Speaker 3: And it's a rock and bitch and blues rock album.
- 1:07Speaker 3: I reckon. That's that's sort of how we feel about it.
- 1:10Speaker 3: We are we're not just blues, we're not just rock,
- 1:13Speaker 3: we're not just heavy rock.
- 1:14Speaker 1: We're a bit of everything. So we like to call
- 1:17Speaker 1: it Bitch and blues rock.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Nize.
- 1:21Speaker 4: The album opens with a hard rocking track card you
- 1:23Speaker 4: Ain't Falling Me. So tell us about the thought process
- 1:26Speaker 4: behind starting with that particular song.
- 1:30Speaker 3: I just wanted to slappy in the face. I wanted
- 1:33Speaker 3: to come I wanted to come out with a bang
- 1:37Speaker 3: song with a bit of attitude.
- 1:38Speaker 1: And you know, I guess you know a song that
- 1:44Speaker 1: you know talks about opinions and people might have different
- 1:47Speaker 1: opinions on things, but they don't always base them on facts.
- 1:51Speaker 1: But you know, the main thing is people are entitled
- 1:53Speaker 1: to their opinion even if you don't agree with it.
- 1:56Speaker 2: So that kind of song, yeah, cool, let's mess them
- 1:59Speaker 2: through the album.
- 2:00Speaker 4: It would have been hard for you to pick singles
- 2:01Speaker 4: to release of it because there's not one one song
- 2:05Speaker 4: there that encatulates the whole album. Is it like there's
- 2:07Speaker 4: a bit of You've got some hard rock in there,
- 2:09Speaker 4: you've got some blues and some rock. Like there would
- 2:11Speaker 4: have been hard to choose the songs to represent the
- 2:13Speaker 4: whole package.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Definitely.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I kind of feel the style of the song forty
- 2:20Speaker 1: two Days is a bit of a.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Mix of all of that. But yeah, it was really
- 2:25Speaker 3: hard because there you know, it's it's.
- 2:27Speaker 1: A bit of an eclectic album, I guess style wise.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Yeah, imagine that eglecting, so like there isn't ris mixture
- 2:33Speaker 4: of blues rock and hard rock, as I say, But
- 2:36Speaker 4: how difficult was it for you to get the balance
- 2:38Speaker 4: right between those genres so that you didn't go too
- 2:40Speaker 4: far in one direction or not far enough in another.
- 2:45Speaker 1: It was Hey, we actually had some extra songs that
- 2:49Speaker 1: didn't make it on the album because we had too many,
- 2:51Speaker 1: which is a great problem to have so ready for
- 2:54Speaker 1: the next one, a couple already already to go. So
- 2:59Speaker 1: I guess we had that luxury of choosing, you know,
- 3:01Speaker 1: the right mix and just to have a bit of
- 3:04Speaker 1: light and shade as well instead of all just flat out.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Or you know, one style.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:09Speaker 4: And you mentioned before the fact that you did have
- 3:11Speaker 4: to put the album off for a bit, and that
- 3:13Speaker 4: was because of the fact that you appeared on The
- 3:15Speaker 4: Voice in.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Twenty twenty five, So you recorded the album after that,
- 3:19Speaker 2: I believe.
- 3:20Speaker 4: So how did being on the Voice influence the overall album?
- 3:25Speaker 1: Well, we recorded some of it was recorded beforehand, actually,
- 3:28Speaker 1: and then we had the rest was recorded after.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Oh.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Look, you know, you come away a lot wiser from
- 3:34Speaker 1: experiences like that. You know, it's a television show, which
- 3:37Speaker 1: was a great experience. I learned a lot and saw
- 3:39Speaker 1: a lot, but it was, you know, just really good
- 3:42Speaker 1: to I.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Guess have that experience.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And also the opportunity to bring rock and roll onto
- 3:50Speaker 1: national television was really great. So representing rock and representing
- 3:56Speaker 1: you know, the older rockers as well.
- 3:58Speaker 3: It's really good.
- 4:00Speaker 2: And you imagined that you did record some before you
- 4:02Speaker 2: went on the Voice and some after.
- 4:04Speaker 4: But did you find that the stuff you're doing after
- 4:07Speaker 4: being on the voice was different in a way because
- 4:09Speaker 4: of the experiences that you've had in someone knew like that.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yeah, look, I was probably a bit more relaxed about things.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I'm not that I'm not relaxed, but it was just
- 4:19Speaker 1: a bit, like, I guess, even more determined than ever,
- 4:24Speaker 1: if that makes sense, just to.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Be who we are, be who I am, and.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Really just sort of I guess where it all and
- 4:34Speaker 1: were it all on my sleeve?
- 4:35Speaker 3: You know, we were in.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Your heart on your sleeve, but just really giving it
- 4:39Speaker 1: a real two hundred percent crack and not worrying about anything.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Yeah. Nice.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Do you remember the first time you heard one of
- 4:47Speaker 4: your songs played on radio and what song was it?
- 4:50Speaker 2: And where were you?
- 4:51Speaker 1: Oh gosh, I think that was when I was living
- 4:55Speaker 1: in Queensland.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Yeah, that would have been I Reckon.
- 5:01Speaker 1: About twenty years ago, I had a country rock album out.
- 5:06Speaker 3: What song was it?
- 5:07Speaker 2: It was.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Might have been Freedom or it could have been to
- 5:12Speaker 1: Life I'm in Again, but yeah, it was on national radio.
- 5:17Speaker 3: So that was pretty cool and pretty strange. At the same.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Time, Rose Carlo Band are already part way through a
- 5:27Speaker 4: national so I haven't hit Sydney and Queensland already.
- 5:30Speaker 2: So how are the show's been going?
- 5:32Speaker 3: Really really good?
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah, so Mick and I did run in Queensland in April.
- 5:39Speaker 3: In April, I just did some duo shows.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But you know, the whole thing is, I mean, we
- 5:46Speaker 1: didn't have our rhythm section with us, but us doing
- 5:49Speaker 1: a duo show is kind of like the band.
- 5:51Speaker 3: I still seem like I'm with the band, so it's
- 5:53Speaker 3: like I see.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Any softer but really really good, really great response, really
- 5:58Speaker 1: great response to the new music as well, and just
- 6:02Speaker 1: really great to connect with you fans and old friends
- 6:06Speaker 1: as well.
- 6:07Speaker 4: So have any of the songs off the new album
- 6:10Speaker 4: like either gone down better than what you thought they?
- 6:12Speaker 4: Would live or maybe not as good as what you
- 6:14Speaker 4: thought they would have lived.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I must say there's quite there's three in particular that.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Have really gone down world where I've gone. Oh, I
- 6:24Speaker 3: wasn't too sure about.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Them because I think into your own heads sometimes, you know.
- 6:29Speaker 3: So yeah, really really good.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Yeah, and next year off to South Australia for the
- 6:34Speaker 4: very first time over the weekend of Made twenty second,
- 6:36Speaker 4: twenty third and twenty four so on behalf of South Australians.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Why have you neglected them for so long?
- 6:45Speaker 1: I guess just not finding the right venues and having
- 6:51Speaker 1: the right turrounders around sourcing the right venues that will
- 6:55Speaker 1: suit us.
- 6:56Speaker 3: That's that's a real big thing.
- 6:58Speaker 1: You know a lot of people might say, oh, come here,
- 6:59Speaker 1: play there, play there, play there.
- 7:01Speaker 3: But the venue might not do you what you're doing.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So very fortunate to have the great team around us
- 7:08Speaker 1: with Cat and Maney and everyone.
- 7:10Speaker 3: So that's been really really good.
- 7:13Speaker 1: And you know, just like Queensland finding us the right venues,
- 7:16Speaker 1: the whole plan.
- 7:16Speaker 3: With the with the tour, just with Mick and I to.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Bring the band, but the whole band back to Queensland,
- 7:22Speaker 1: South Australia.
- 7:23Speaker 3: You know, later in the year, so can't wait.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Very nice said, for the benefit of those in South
- 7:27Speaker 4: Australia might not have seen you before, Ronister, a typical Rose.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Carlio band live performance, and what they can expect.
- 7:35Speaker 1: They can expect an energetic performance, a bit of fun
- 7:39Speaker 1: banter on stage, you know, just just a big, you know,
- 7:44Speaker 1: heart and soul performance. Really, Mick and I have two
- 7:47Speaker 1: acoustic guitars, but don't let that fool you.
- 7:50Speaker 3: It's it's going to be a rock, a rock and gig.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Really nice said.
- 7:54Speaker 4: In other news, I've had a little which for the
- 7:56Speaker 4: other day that you've joined the Filthy Animals.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Well, I've got a call in December from them, actually
- 8:04Speaker 1: just after i'd had lunch with the beautiful Virginia Lily,
- 8:07Speaker 1: who has unfortunately and very sadly since past she was
- 8:12Speaker 1: with them, and anyway, we had lunch and posted a
- 8:16Speaker 1: photo and Sharon gave me a call and said, you know, you.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Feel like doing a few gigs. I'm like, sure, why not?
- 8:21Speaker 3: It'll be fun.
- 8:22Speaker 1: So yeah, I'm doing some shows with them in Queensland
- 8:27Speaker 1: actually in July, and a few others are in the
- 8:30Speaker 1: pipeline that I that haven't been confirmed yet, so Yeah,
- 8:34Speaker 1: that's just another really fun project to play with some
- 8:37Speaker 1: brilliant players and to get out there.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Will you have to share a stage with Skinning or
- 8:41Speaker 2: have you been spared that? Yeah?
- 8:44Speaker 3: The two in July with scheming, so it's gonna be mayhem.
- 8:47Speaker 3: I can't wait Queensland.
- 8:50Speaker 4: I'll be coming along for sure, it is, yes, Suras
