- 2:36Speaker 3: in Kanawk County, and certainly they do in Nicholas County

- 2:56Speaker 3: We'll run through the holiday season downtown Charleston. But there's
- 2:58Speaker 3: going to be two days of you know, I don't know,
- 3:01Speaker 3: jingling all the way or whatever you want to call it,
- 3:03Speaker 3: Friday and Saturday, Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday,
- 3:07Speaker 3: if you will, then small business Saturday and Saturday. Kevin
- 3:10Speaker 3: Madison is with the Downtown Charleston Association, and he joins, us,
- 3:13Speaker 3: I think it's Kevin. We had this morning, Kevin, Good morning,
- 3:15Speaker 3: walking to the show.
- 3:17Speaker 5: Good morning, Dave. How you doing.
- 3:18Speaker 3: I am doing fine, Thank you for being here. It's
- 3:21Speaker 3: starting to get real now. I guess right.
- 3:24Speaker 5: It is, man, it is. I'm out in the field
- 3:27Speaker 5: right now, speek. So I hope I may have to
- 3:30Speaker 5: answer a question here from someone else, but yeah, it's
- 3:34Speaker 5: going great.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Well, I've got a graphic posted about what exactly is
- 3:38Speaker 3: going on downtown on Brawdy Walkway this Friday and Saturday.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Now you can see that graphic on Dave an and
- 3:43Speaker 3: Radio at Facebook and at Dave seventy on X. But
- 3:46Speaker 3: we're talking about live music, local art, the artwork, art walk,
- 3:51Speaker 3: Santa Claus over one hundred and fifty decorated trees, a
- 3:54Speaker 3: drone show. You guys talked about that the last time
- 3:57Speaker 3: you were in studio, plus the official lighting of a
- 4:00Speaker 3: Christmas tree. Now, in an effort Kevin, to try to
- 4:03Speaker 3: make myself sound cool to the young kids, can we
- 4:06Speaker 3: say it's going.
- 4:06Speaker 5: To be lit, It's going to be really lit. Yeah.
- 4:10Speaker 3: I'm always about twenty years behind in my expression, so
- 4:13Speaker 3: I just thought i'd throw that out there. So give
- 4:15Speaker 3: us the overall about the excitement that's building. You said
- 4:18Speaker 3: you're on site right now, I think doing some things
- 4:20Speaker 3: down there, So give us some give us the overall field.
- 4:23Speaker 5: Well, I'll tell you. I'll tell you what if anybody
- 4:25Speaker 5: was downtown yesterday, like this place came alive and the
- 4:30Speaker 5: buzz was amazing. You know, businesses and their friends, their families,
- 4:36Speaker 5: they were all down here yesterday getting the elder trees decorated.
- 4:39Speaker 5: I think we already have over half of them already complete.
- 4:43Speaker 5: I mean, the park looks amazing, the light show. It
- 4:45Speaker 5: has been said, we're putting up all the local artists,
- 4:49Speaker 5: the art pieces. Today in Brawley Walkway, it was going
- 4:53Speaker 5: really good. Mother Nature was definitely on our side yesterday.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Yeah, and it looks like towards the end of the
- 4:58Speaker 3: week though, coding to what all the meteorologist folks like
- 5:01Speaker 3: Spencer Atkins and Brian Hughes or whatever whatever they tell
- 5:04Speaker 3: us is that it's we could have some rain like
- 5:07Speaker 3: midweek and as we head into Thanksgiving, but it's definitely
- 5:10Speaker 3: going to be cold as we head into the weekend,
- 5:12Speaker 3: which I mean, it's a Christmas season.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Man, it's supposed to be right, Yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 5: It's supposed to be but I mean it is going
- 5:19Speaker 5: to be cold. I mean, we got to remember the
- 5:20Speaker 5: first year, the first year we did this, Dave, it
- 5:22Speaker 5: was like nine degrees that night and it didn't stop
- 5:25Speaker 5: anybody from coming. And you know, this is a rain
- 5:28Speaker 5: or shine, warmer cold event, so you know, bundle up,
- 5:32Speaker 5: but it's still going to happen. But it is supposed
- 5:36Speaker 5: to be cold, you're right.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Here, we're talking with Kevin Madison for the Downtown Charleston
- 5:40Speaker 3: Association about Holly Jolly Brawley really getting under way later
- 5:44Speaker 3: this week. So I guess after everybody gets their belly
- 5:46Speaker 3: full of turkey and dressing and whatnot on Thursday and
- 5:49Speaker 3: it's time to go to work after that.
- 5:51Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you can walk it off. We can look
- 5:53Speaker 5: at all the trees we do. Yeah, we've got trees
- 5:56Speaker 5: that we triangle. The trees are also of course down
- 5:59Speaker 5: Brady Walkway and in City Center Park, but you want
- 6:02Speaker 5: to remind people the event is actually in the park,
- 6:05Speaker 5: Summer Street, Brawley Walkway, Capitol Street, Lee Triangle, Haile Street,
- 6:09Speaker 5: so it encompasses the whole downtown area.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Well again it's it's a very exciting thing for Charleston.
- 6:16Speaker 3: And again we talked on the show the other day.
- 6:18Speaker 3: I had the folks from the selangol a lot light
- 6:21Speaker 3: the night on had Andy Sheha and Ben Slango on
- 6:24Speaker 3: to talk about that. So, I mean, Charleston's kind of
- 6:27Speaker 3: the place to be when it comes to when it
- 6:29Speaker 3: comes to Christmas season.
- 6:31Speaker 5: It definitely is. And you know, you bring up a
- 6:33Speaker 5: good point. KRT has been an amazing partner again this
- 6:36Speaker 5: year to offer the Holly Jolly Brawley Trolley, and that
- 6:40Speaker 5: trolley is a free trolley that will take you from
- 6:45Speaker 5: downtown either at on Leiley Street, at the KRT Center
- 6:49Speaker 5: or at Lee Triangle, and that'll take you from Holly
- 6:52Speaker 5: Jolly Brawley, it'll take you to the ballpark. It'll also
- 6:55Speaker 5: make a stop at Capitol Market for their holiday season event.
- 6:59Speaker 5: And again and that's a free service that's Thursday, Friday
- 7:02Speaker 5: or sorry, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, every thirty minute.
- 7:06Speaker 3: And Kevin, it takes a whole lot of people to
- 7:09Speaker 3: pull off an event like this, a whole lot of volunteers.
- 7:11Speaker 3: We mentioned the Downtown Charleston Association, but it does take
- 7:14Speaker 3: a whole lot of people to make.
- 7:15Speaker 5: This happen, it really does. I mean, we've got an
- 7:18Speaker 5: awesome team of volunteers. We are so grateful for them.
- 7:22Speaker 5: They've been out in the rain and the wind and
- 7:24Speaker 5: the cold, you know, this past weekend. And yeah, and
- 7:28Speaker 5: I mean also, I mean we got a we can't
- 7:30Speaker 5: we couldn't do this without our sponsors either. I mean
- 7:33Speaker 5: we've got WV Meniston, Thomas Hospitals, Poker, Velly Bank, City
- 7:37Speaker 5: National Bank, Bailey and Glasser, c AMC Vndelia Health, Hendrickson
- 7:42Speaker 5: and Long West Virginia I Consultants, Capital Insurance. I mean,
- 7:46Speaker 5: it goes on and on and on in definitely thank them.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Yeah, because it's not possible with that.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Then we're talking to Kevin Madison for the Downtown Charleston
- 7:54Speaker 3: Association about Holly Jolly Bradley, but they've Onland Show and five.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Any Live is brought to you part by Morgan and Morgan,
- 7:59Speaker 3: America's largest injury law firm. And what I love about
- 8:02Speaker 3: this is on a Friday show, I had Scott James
- 8:06Speaker 3: on the Mayor of saying all button. He was talking
- 8:07Speaker 3: about their Festival of Lights that they've got going on.
- 8:09Speaker 3: And know, there's big things going on in Putnam County.
- 8:12Speaker 3: If you're a Christmas person, or even if you're not,
- 8:15Speaker 3: you're gonna be, you know, all up in it when
- 8:18Speaker 3: it comes to Christmas stuff because it's everywhere in the Kenawh.
- 8:21Speaker 5: Valley, that's right, and it just you know, just makes
- 8:24Speaker 5: the region more awesome and a lot of things for
- 8:27Speaker 5: people to enjoy. For sure.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Let's before we let you go, because I know you're
- 8:30Speaker 3: really busy, Let's talk about a small business Saturday in Charleston.
- 8:35Speaker 3: This has been a national thing, you know, it's gone
- 8:37Speaker 3: on for several years. A great time for people to
- 8:39Speaker 3: remember those small businesses, whether they're a retail establishment, whether
- 8:42Speaker 3: they're a restaurant or whatever. It's time to to to
- 8:46Speaker 3: to just kind of, you know, patronize these folks.
- 8:50Speaker 5: Yeah, definitely. I mean amaz the last time I checked
- 8:52Speaker 5: Amazon and Walmart, we're sponsoring your kids football team. Yeah
- 8:56Speaker 5: that these local restaurants and retailers definitely are. Yeah, but
- 9:00Speaker 5: it's very important to support these guys during the holiday season,
- 9:03Speaker 5: for sure.
- 9:04Speaker 4: I agree.
- 9:05Speaker 3: All right, So give us the view from the top
- 9:07Speaker 3: again with the schedule and everything that's going to happen
- 9:09Speaker 3: after after Thanksgiving.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Start with Friday, all right.
- 9:13Speaker 5: So at noon we've got there'll be live DJs on
- 9:17Speaker 5: Capitol Street and at City Center Park. We've got bands
- 9:21Speaker 5: playing this weekend. We've got quiet, we've got the units there.
- 9:26Speaker 5: The drone show kicks off at approximately six sixteen to
- 9:29Speaker 5: six seventeen, best of you here at City Center Park.
- 9:33Speaker 5: We went everybody downtown by Fox thirty to make sure
- 9:35Speaker 5: they got a good parking spot in the garages, which,
- 9:37Speaker 5: of course parking is free that day in all garages
- 9:40Speaker 5: and meters and all that fun stuff. Tree lotting is
- 9:43Speaker 5: approximately six point thirty. All of the inflatables and kids'
- 9:47Speaker 5: activities will run till eight. The schedules are basically the
- 9:51Speaker 5: same on Saturday, except the light show just starts at
- 9:54Speaker 5: the six in place. Throughout the evening, the event wraps
- 9:57Speaker 5: up at eight o'clock again, but live music EJ's on
- 10:00Speaker 5: both places of course, Santa is going to be here
- 10:03Speaker 5: Friday and Saturday as well in Lee Triangle for free
- 10:06Speaker 5: photos with Santa. Yes, the event is free, and yeah,
- 10:10Speaker 5: just make your way downtown. It's gonna be a great time.
- 10:12Speaker 4: All right, Kevin.
- 10:13Speaker 3: I know you were really up against it on scheduling
- 10:16Speaker 3: today and I appreciate you carving that little time to
- 10:18Speaker 3: talk to us. Have yourself for great Thanksgiving, and we'll
- 10:20Speaker 3: be talking several times throughout the Christmas season about Holly
- 10:23Speaker 3: Jolly Bradley.
- 10:23Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, Thanks Dave, have a good one, Happy
- 10:26Speaker 5: Thanksgiving to you as well.
- 10:27Speaker 3: All right, Thank you Kevin Maddison again from the Downtown
- 10:29Speaker 3: Charleston Association and again Holly Jolly Braley goes throughout the
- 10:33Speaker 3: Christmas season.
- 10:34Speaker 4: But they're really really big. Well, one of the really.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Big activities is the kickoff on Friday and Saturday, and
- 10:39Speaker 3: I mean this thing is just huge. And you couple that,
- 10:43Speaker 3: even though they're two totally separate things, you couple that
- 10:46Speaker 3: with the Selango all Light and I had over at
- 10:47Speaker 3: Gomar Ballpark and you definitely got a lot of excitement
- 10:50Speaker 3: going on. And I keep going back to what's what
- 10:52Speaker 3: December fifth in Downtown Charleston is gonna look like because
- 10:56Speaker 3: you got the Christmas Parade, you got the Trans Siberian
- 10:59Speaker 3: Orchestra show over the Coliseum and Convention Center, plus Holly
- 11:02Speaker 3: Jolly Brawley, plus Light the Night. So it's definitely gonna
- 11:06Speaker 3: be the place to be is downtown Charleston coming up
- 11:08Speaker 3: on on on December fifth, but again this weekend. After
- 11:12Speaker 3: you spend the time with the family to do all
- 11:13Speaker 3: the stuff that you're supposed to do, then get ready
- 11:16Speaker 3: because it's the Christmas season is definitely here in downtown Charles.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I'm gonna spare you from me breaking into it's beginning

- 12:19Speaker 3: of noise made about the Trump picks for the cabinet,
- 12:21Speaker 3: but apparently, according to a recent poll not done by

- 16:21Speaker 3: My my wife makes these deviled eggs that are serracha
- 16:25Speaker 3: deviled eggs, got a little heat to it. Yeah, I'm
- 16:28Speaker 3: all about I'm all about the sarracha.
- 16:30Speaker 8: You like your women and your eggspike.
- 16:34Speaker 4: We'll be leieve that. I'll leave that a load.
- 16:37Speaker 3: So we've been talking on the show, Delegate about school
- 16:39Speaker 3: consolidation here in Kanah County, primarily some of the Saint
- 16:43Speaker 3: Auban's area. The majority of those that have been talked
- 16:45Speaker 3: about have been in the eastern Knah County area. And
- 16:47Speaker 3: it's something that I wanted to bring you on the
- 16:49Speaker 3: show about because you know, you represent Nicholas County in
- 16:53Speaker 3: the legislature. There's a lot of parallels though in the
- 16:56Speaker 3: school consolidation talk in Kanah County, Nicholas County, in really
- 17:00Speaker 3: all over the soid West.
- 17:01Speaker 8: Virginia there are and I really think to understand where
- 17:04Speaker 8: we are in Nicholas County, we have to understand where
- 17:07Speaker 8: we've been after the twenty sixteen flood. The sitting superintendent
- 17:11Speaker 8: at that time, as well as the sitting Board of Education,
- 17:14Speaker 8: which both of those positions, but all of those, all
- 17:17Speaker 8: the board seats that one have flipped, and then also
- 17:20Speaker 8: we have a new superintendent. Originally, it was proposed that
- 17:24Speaker 8: we were going to consolidate our middle and high schools
- 17:26Speaker 8: here because we had three of the four secondary schools
- 17:28Speaker 8: damage and integrate our career and technical education program into
- 17:33Speaker 8: the middle and high schools in a centralized location in
- 17:36Speaker 8: Nicholas County in the center to try to make all
- 17:38Speaker 8: of the transit times for the outlying students in middle
- 17:41Speaker 8: and high school pretty well, pretty well equal. That plan
- 17:46Speaker 8: was met with a lot of resistance from a lot
- 17:48Speaker 8: of political sources, including the governor's office and some other places,
- 17:52Speaker 8: and unfortunately what has happened is our board has slipped,
- 17:56Speaker 8: our superintendent has slipped and now we're proposing to put
- 17:59Speaker 8: four elementary schools into one elementary school, and so the
- 18:03Speaker 8: total enrollment of that would be a five hundred and
- 18:05Speaker 8: seventy four students being put into a building that was
- 18:08Speaker 8: built in nineteen fifty two. It already has a lot
- 18:12Speaker 8: of existing environmental and structural problems as far as roofing,
- 18:16Speaker 8: sewage ventilation, those sorts of things. It would also LinkedIn
- 18:21Speaker 8: the bus rides for the students in Birch River as
- 18:23Speaker 8: well as Zila bringing them, bringing some of those students
- 18:26Speaker 8: from Zela from the far reaches of county down thirty
- 18:29Speaker 8: nine over Little Elk Mountain and bringing those young pre
- 18:32Speaker 8: K students in kindergarten students up from Birch River up
- 18:35Speaker 8: over Palace Mountain. So very concerning Nicholas County, I think
- 18:41Speaker 8: we have gotten that Byckwards. I think the original consolidation
- 18:44Speaker 8: of the middle in high school made much more sense
- 18:46Speaker 8: than the proposal for these elementary schools.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Again, we're talking to it a delegate to Heather Glasgow
- 18:51Speaker 3: Tully and she reached out to me last week and
- 18:53Speaker 3: again this is Nicholas County, but I want to talk
- 18:57Speaker 3: a little bit about this situation state. Why because again, Delegate,
- 19:01Speaker 3: and obviously you know, you serve on the legislature, so.
- 19:03Speaker 4: You're in Charleston a whole lot. You follow the news here,
- 19:06Speaker 4: and you got ties to Canaw County.
- 19:07Speaker 5: Right, I do.
- 19:09Speaker 8: And actually I was a student at McKinley Junior High
- 19:12Speaker 8: School many many years ago. I grew up in pant Alpins.
- 19:14Speaker 8: I graduated from Sant Albans High School, so I understand.
- 19:17Speaker 8: I can remember when St. Albans Junior High School was closed,
- 19:19Speaker 8: which was just a few miles down the road from
- 19:21Speaker 8: McKinley and a few miles up the road from Hayes.
- 19:24Speaker 3: So and that's the reason I wanted to talk to you,
- 19:26Speaker 3: because when we've had these and there's been public and
- 19:28Speaker 3: I'm going to presume Delegate, that the same thing happened
- 19:31Speaker 3: in Nicholas County that did in Kanawa County. There were
- 19:33Speaker 3: a series of meetings that were held, public meetings, and
- 19:36Speaker 3: not only the Saint Albans area, but also in those
- 19:39Speaker 3: that are affected on the upper end of the county
- 19:41Speaker 3: as we call it, you know, areas like Bell and
- 19:44Speaker 3: all those, and you know, the public meetings were held,
- 19:47Speaker 3: and you know, hats off to the Board of Education
- 19:49Speaker 3: because because they held those meetings, but in the end
- 19:52Speaker 3: they went with the original plans, which was to and
- 19:56Speaker 3: I think, and I could be wrong about this, I
- 19:58Speaker 3: think in the votes that they had, I think only
- 20:01Speaker 3: one of the of the votes had had a the center,
- 20:06Speaker 3: so to speak. I think most of them went unanimous.
- 20:09Speaker 3: It's not an easy decision when you are part of
- 20:13Speaker 3: a board of education when you're you know, everybody's weighing
- 20:16Speaker 3: in on these things. And I think you would probably
- 20:18Speaker 3: appreciate that, Delegate, absolutely.
- 20:20Speaker 8: I've never seen more miserable hearings than what the preceding
- 20:23Speaker 8: Board of Education and superintendent went through here in Nicholas
- 20:26Speaker 8: County when they proposed the consolidation in the middle of
- 20:29Speaker 8: the high spitals after the floods. Those hearings were very
- 20:32Speaker 8: rough on those people, not only professionally but personally got
- 20:36Speaker 8: very nasty, which was very disappointing to see. Like I said,
- 20:41Speaker 8: a lot of political pressure, so it was It's been
- 20:43Speaker 8: a very stressful situation here in Nicholas County with that
- 20:47Speaker 8: type of thing going on into just to see the
- 20:49Speaker 8: county essentially divided. We had a lot of alumni who
- 20:53Speaker 8: no longer reside in this area and are not tax
- 20:56Speaker 8: payers that opened on that and I think their allows
- 20:59Speaker 8: angry war. This has got listened to more so than
- 21:01Speaker 8: some of the tax payers in that situation, and that's
- 21:03Speaker 8: very unfortunate.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Yeah, it is, it is, And again they're put in
- 21:06Speaker 3: a very bad position because I think you certainly again
- 21:09Speaker 3: we're talking to delegate to head of Glasgow Tully, somebody
- 21:12Speaker 3: who's served in the legislature for some time. I think
- 21:14Speaker 3: that you can also appreciate the economic aspect of these
- 21:18Speaker 3: some of these schools, and I'm sure it's the same
- 21:19Speaker 3: in Nicholas County and it is in other counties as
- 21:21Speaker 3: it was in Kanawa. Delegate, some of these schools, it's
- 21:23Speaker 3: just not economically feasible to keep some of these schools
- 21:27Speaker 3: open because of the cost of maintaining these older buildings.
- 21:31Speaker 8: And I understand that, and I think to say that
- 21:34Speaker 8: there should never be another consolidation, I think that that
- 21:36Speaker 8: is probably far fetched and not probably the most failnd thinking. However,
- 21:41Speaker 8: I think really probably our example in Nicholas County really
- 21:44Speaker 8: illustrates the example of why we need to make sure
- 21:47Speaker 8: that we are doing it the right way. I think
- 21:49Speaker 8: middle and high school if you look at the educational
- 21:52Speaker 8: research data on the building of literacy and numeracy skills
- 21:57Speaker 8: that does occur usually in your first, second, and third grade,
- 22:00Speaker 8: and those elementary school students benefit more readily from having
- 22:04Speaker 8: smaller classrooms and smaller schools to be able to build
- 22:07Speaker 8: those literacy and numeracy skills. By contrast, when you start
- 22:11Speaker 8: to expand educational offerings for your middle and high school,
- 22:14Speaker 8: you are opening up the world to them. So I
- 22:16Speaker 8: think it's really we should be probably a cautionary tale
- 22:19Speaker 8: of how things should be done. And I really feel
- 22:22Speaker 8: as though if we can preserve the elementary schools, that
- 22:25Speaker 8: is what we should be doing to maintain those smaller
- 22:27Speaker 8: class sizes and build those foundational skills in literacy and numeracy.
- 22:31Speaker 8: I think the legislature recognizes that we passed the folk
- 22:34Speaker 8: grade success I like to add extra aids in those
- 22:37Speaker 8: lower elementary school classrooms with enrollments I believe it was
- 22:40Speaker 8: fourteen or sixteen or greater. If you had that number
- 22:42Speaker 8: of student, you were going to get an extra aid
- 22:44Speaker 8: to help with those classrooms building those classroom skills because
- 22:47Speaker 8: some of the test scores were so low. And so
- 22:50Speaker 8: I really think that we as the legislature recognize that.
- 22:53Speaker 8: I think that we've seen some failings boards of education.
- 22:56Speaker 8: I think when you start to add four elementary schools
- 22:59Speaker 8: into one and to cram them into a building built
- 23:01Speaker 8: in nineteen fifty two, like they're proposing here in Nicholas County,
- 23:04Speaker 8: it does not show sound thinking.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Talking again with Delegate Heather at Glasgow Talley of the
- 23:08Speaker 3: day Island showing five any line brought to you a
- 23:10Speaker 3: part by Meek's realtor group. Rich the realtor always happened
- 23:12Speaker 3: to take your call. He's still talking about this home
- 23:15Speaker 3: in Scott deepo seventy five point Zetia drive, fifty six
- 23:18Speaker 3: hundred square feet, six bedrooms, two laundry rooms, full house
- 23:22Speaker 3: generator to make sure the power always stays on. Called
- 23:25Speaker 3: of texts, Rich the Realtor three zero four nine three
- 23:27Speaker 3: two seventy four eighty eight. Let him tell you more
- 23:29Speaker 3: about this wonderful property. All right, So you talked about
- 23:32Speaker 3: the legislature. So is there anything that the legislature can
- 23:37Speaker 3: do in this situation or should they?
- 23:40Speaker 8: Technically we do not have control over the decisions that
- 23:43Speaker 8: are made by the state Board of Education. I think
- 23:45Speaker 8: we saw the amendment that was constitutional amendments that was
- 23:48Speaker 8: proposed several years ago that went down with some of
- 23:51Speaker 8: the up the other four men, all four ofmen. That's
- 23:53Speaker 8: went down during during a essentially a public refferend the
- 23:58Speaker 8: Mori boat on the ballot. So we really have no control,
- 24:01Speaker 8: but we also like to say that we don't have control,
- 24:03Speaker 8: but we will dab There are certain people that will dabble.
- 24:06Speaker 8: Some bills in there here and there that pertain to consolidations.
- 24:09Speaker 8: You saw one come from the Senate that talks about
- 24:12Speaker 8: an economic impact statement, and I really don't feel as
- 24:15Speaker 8: that as though that bill added a lot to what
- 24:18Speaker 8: was already proposed with the Comprehensive Educational Facilities Plan amendments
- 24:22Speaker 8: that were being put forth. So I really don't know
- 24:24Speaker 8: that I feel that it did anything that that bill passed,
- 24:26Speaker 8: and people pass themselves on the bike and feel good
- 24:28Speaker 8: about it because they feel like they did something but
- 24:30Speaker 8: really doesn't make an impact. I don't know that we
- 24:34Speaker 8: really have a lot of control, but I do think
- 24:36Speaker 8: that he does have control. Are the parents that have
- 24:39Speaker 8: students that attend these schools. I want you to keep
- 24:41Speaker 8: in mind, you know, we're still in pod here in
- 24:44Speaker 8: Nicholas County from the flood. Our middle school, including my
- 24:47Speaker 8: two grandchildren, the oldest of which was starting kindergartens when
- 24:51Speaker 8: we started this process. She's in a pod carrying every
- 24:55Speaker 8: book and every item that she takes the school daily
- 24:58Speaker 8: on her bike in a backpack, no lockers. The same
- 25:01Speaker 8: thing for Richwood Middle and Richwood High School.
- 25:05Speaker 3: It's uh yeah, I mean, it's it's really sad that
- 25:09Speaker 3: that situation continues because most people think, well, you know
- 25:12Speaker 3: that the flood was in twenty sixteen and we moved
- 25:14Speaker 3: on from that. But as somebody who spent some time
- 25:16Speaker 3: in Nicholas County, I can tell you you're you're still
- 25:20Speaker 3: living with it.
- 25:20Speaker 8: Elegant, We're still living with it. And you know, the
- 25:24Speaker 8: saddest part about this is our Board of Education. Initially
- 25:26Speaker 8: when the flood happened, and with the city members that
- 25:28Speaker 8: we had, we had our students. We did better than
- 25:31Speaker 8: Kanall County. We had our students in school full days,
- 25:35Speaker 8: not like Herbert Hoover who were alternating half days for
- 25:38Speaker 8: the middle and half days for the high school. We
- 25:39Speaker 8: had our students in school full days. And we were
- 25:41Speaker 8: the one of the ones that had started, you know,
- 25:44Speaker 8: to make plans to do our consolidation for our middle
- 25:46Speaker 8: high school and our career and Technical center. And had
- 25:49Speaker 8: it not been for political interference, we should have been
- 25:51Speaker 8: the first one done. But we're technical was the last
- 25:53Speaker 8: one done. And that's that's a travesty for these students, Dave.
- 25:56Speaker 3: But Dave Alan showing five any line brought to you
- 25:58Speaker 3: apart by Husband's Pizza. This month, you favorite Hustans get
- 26:00Speaker 3: a large at Nache Pepperoni pizza and a pizza Dia
- 26:03Speaker 3: only twenty one ninety nine. We'll get back to the
- 26:05Speaker 3: consolidation of the moment, Delegate, but I want to ask
- 26:07Speaker 3: you to look ahead and we'll switch gears here for
- 26:09Speaker 3: a little bit. Just look ahead to the session. It's
- 26:12Speaker 3: going to be a little bit different this year, and
- 26:14Speaker 3: actually started a little bit later because of this is
- 26:17Speaker 3: the year. You know, every four years when we put
- 26:19Speaker 3: a new governor in office, it starts a little bit later.
- 26:21Speaker 3: What are you looking forward to in the upcoming session.
- 26:24Speaker 8: Well, I'm not back this year, Dave, so I'll try you. Hell,
- 26:27Speaker 8: it'll be a new Vice Chair of House Health, So
- 26:30Speaker 8: I'm looking forward to kind of watching seats to see
- 26:32Speaker 8: what some of my colleagues do. I'm looking forward myself
- 26:34Speaker 8: personally to continuing patient care and seeing patients as I
- 26:37Speaker 8: always do as a nurse practitioner, providing health care in
- 26:39Speaker 8: my community. And it will be interesting to see because
- 26:42Speaker 8: there have been a lot of positions that have shifted
- 26:45Speaker 8: and changed around. There's a lot of things that I
- 26:48Speaker 8: personally will miss and some things I will want. I
- 26:50Speaker 8: would be perfectly.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Honest, I completely forgot about that, Delegate, and I apologize
- 26:53Speaker 3: for that that I forgot. I forgot the y're not
- 26:56Speaker 3: back in this year, reflect on your time in the late.
- 27:01Speaker 8: One of the things you know, as most people know
- 27:04Speaker 8: that I am a nurse and I'm a nurse practitioner.
- 27:06Speaker 8: So one of the proudest things I think that I've
- 27:07Speaker 8: gotten accomplished is some of the caffing committees for nurses
- 27:11Speaker 8: that are composed of fifty one percent nurses that actually
- 27:13Speaker 8: touch patients. I hope that those will move forward and
- 27:16Speaker 8: help make our nursing, our nursing, and our health care
- 27:20Speaker 8: better because you are allowing nurses that have a voice
- 27:24Speaker 8: and that actually do patient care to have a voice
- 27:26Speaker 8: in their units. So that's been one of my proudest accomplishments.
- 27:29Speaker 8: We work diligently on the foot of the d HHR
- 27:33Speaker 8: now d ohs. So it will be interesting to see
- 27:36Speaker 8: how that takes shape. Be interesting to see what the
- 27:40Speaker 8: new governor does with those cabinet positions. As far as
- 27:44Speaker 8: who is once you head some of those agencies. I
- 27:46Speaker 8: would love to be involved in some of that and
- 27:48Speaker 8: some some facet even if it's just consulting, because I
- 27:52Speaker 8: do know the landscape fairly well. I'll miss a lot
- 27:55Speaker 8: of the Education Committee things because I do sit on
- 27:57Speaker 8: education as well. So I've been very greatly involved in
- 28:00Speaker 8: education really because of my grandchildren here in Nicholas County,
- 28:05Speaker 8: even prior to being elected. So those are some of
- 28:07Speaker 8: the things I'm going to miss, So it'll be interesting
- 28:09Speaker 8: to see what transpires there as well.
- 28:11Speaker 4: So what are you not going to miss?
- 28:15Speaker 8: Sometimes things get pretty heated and you really feel like
- 28:19Speaker 8: your friends kind of you kind of end up I
- 28:21Speaker 8: wouldn't say turning on each other, but you end up
- 28:23Speaker 8: in opposition to people that you hold very dear, and
- 28:26Speaker 8: sometimes that gets a little stressful. I'm not going to
- 28:29Speaker 8: miss being away from my family. That's one of the
- 28:32Speaker 8: things I was looking forward to spending a little bit
- 28:34Speaker 8: more time with them, getting to see my grandchildren, do
- 28:38Speaker 8: a few more other activities, ticking them up from school,
- 28:40Speaker 8: because when you're in Charleston five days a week, you
- 28:42Speaker 8: don't get to do that. And you look, when you're
- 28:44Speaker 8: away from home, does that just some of those little things.
- 28:48Speaker 4: Are you done with public service?
- 28:50Speaker 3: I don't really.
- 28:51Speaker 8: Decided yet, Dave. I think it's probably too soon to tell.
- 28:54Speaker 4: Okay, well, you're still young, you still got time.
- 28:57Speaker 8: I still have time, and there's you know, it's the
- 28:59Speaker 8: right situation with materialize. I would be probably more than
- 29:02Speaker 8: happy to come back into the arena.
- 29:03Speaker 4: All right.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Well, I appreciate you joining us because again you reached
- 29:06Speaker 3: out to me last week to talk about school consolidation,
- 29:08Speaker 3: and there's a lot of parallels. Some differences, but there
- 29:11Speaker 3: are a lot of parallels with what's going on Nicholas County,
- 29:13Speaker 3: what's happened in Kanagh County as well. Delegate, we'll talk
- 29:16Speaker 3: again soon. You and your family have a great, great
- 29:18Speaker 3: Thanksgiving in the holiday season.
- 29:19Speaker 4: Thanks a lot, Thanks David.

- 30:37Speaker 3: choose to go to whatever school is left after all
- 30:40Speaker 3: the public money is taken by charter schools. Tex says,
- 30:44Speaker 3: why are they winding about schools in Nicholas County? Legislature
- 30:47Speaker 3: fixed all the problems by allowing charter schools and public
- 30:50Speaker 3: money for private schools. Why can't these students just pull
- 30:52Speaker 3: themselves up by their boottraps and travel one hundred miles
- 30:55Speaker 3: to go to school, says the Texter. And finally, good

- 33:24Speaker 10: Good morning, Dave.
- 33:25Speaker 4: How are you. I'm doing fine, Thank you for being here.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Okay, so I've been asking every guest on the show
- 33:30Speaker 3: for the last two or three weeks.
- 33:31Speaker 4: This your favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal.
- 33:35Speaker 10: I like turkey. I mean, I actually like turkey, but
- 33:37Speaker 10: I like the dressing.
- 33:39Speaker 3: A dressing so overrated. I'm underrated and underrated. I'm sorry,
- 33:42Speaker 3: it's my favorite part.
- 33:43Speaker 10: Yeah, it's my favorite part of dressing. You know, my
- 33:48Speaker 10: mom always makes like this, like noodles. I like the
- 33:50Speaker 10: noodles and she when I'm up there, which we won't
- 33:54Speaker 10: be this year. But yeah, I like. I don't know,
- 33:57Speaker 10: I like most of it, though I'm not a well
- 33:59Speaker 10: as you can tell, I'm not an overly picky.
- 34:01Speaker 3: Yeah, just U just fill the plate. I just need
- 34:04Speaker 3: some I need some extra reinforcement on the plate. The
- 34:07Speaker 3: first time we've had you on since the election. Now,
- 34:09Speaker 3: this is like the the five thousand foot or whatever
- 34:12Speaker 3: they say about this view overall your thoughts on the election,
- 34:16Speaker 3: we'll get specifics.
- 34:17Speaker 10: Yeah, I really I thought Trump would win. I did
- 34:20Speaker 10: not know that he would win as big as he
- 34:23Speaker 10: had as he did. You know, sometimes when you're like
- 34:27Speaker 10: in West Virginia and you know the echo chamber that
- 34:30Speaker 10: we have here. You think, oh, you know, everybody loves Trump, right,
- 34:34Speaker 10: because I mean Trump does as well here as he
- 34:36Speaker 10: does anywhere in the country, if not more so. Yeah. Yeah,
- 34:40Speaker 10: and and but I was I was just at a
- 34:42Speaker 10: conference last week before last down in Florida with the
- 34:46Speaker 10: you know, a sort of business group that I'm part of,
- 34:51Speaker 10: and uh, it was just amazing to see how many
- 34:53Speaker 10: people from other parts of the country were so pro Trump.
- 34:57Speaker 10: I mean, I think that in the these are people
- 35:00Speaker 10: that weren't pro Trump last time around. And so I
- 35:03Speaker 10: think some of this. Of course, I have a you know,
- 35:07Speaker 10: an old friend that I've done a lot of work
- 35:09Speaker 10: for that used to always say, it's not that you're
- 35:11Speaker 10: that good, it's that everyone else is so bad. And
- 35:14Speaker 10: I think that's a little bit of what's going on here.
- 35:17Speaker 10: I mean, I do, I do think I like I
- 35:19Speaker 10: like Trump. I think a lot of people here like Trump.
- 35:22Speaker 10: I think that just the Democrats were so bad, right,
- 35:24Speaker 10: I mean, it's it's one thing to say, Okay, you know,
- 35:28Speaker 10: I'm we're gonna come and do this big government and
- 35:30Speaker 10: we're going to tell you how to live, and we're
- 35:32Speaker 10: going to shove the transgender and the boys and girls
- 35:35Speaker 10: sports stuff down your throat. But then to also accompany
- 35:39Speaker 10: that with the fact that people can't afford their groceries,
- 35:42Speaker 10: you know, and the interest rates are so high, and
- 35:45Speaker 10: the in the economy is just not working for average people.
- 35:51Speaker 10: That combo is just too much, and and I think
- 35:53Speaker 10: that's why you sit. I think that's why the results
- 35:56Speaker 10: of the election were what they were, was just the
- 36:00Speaker 10: Democrats really really really messed up. And so you know,
- 36:05Speaker 10: I'm excited for it. I mean, I think a lot
- 36:07Speaker 10: of these big ticket items and these big government reform
- 36:11Speaker 10: things that the Trump administration has been talking about and
- 36:14Speaker 10: you're seeing out there, I'm super excited about it.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Talking again with Greg Thomas, and you know, Greg, I
- 36:22Speaker 3: watch a lot of and I read a lot about
- 36:24Speaker 3: the different pundits what they weigh in, and I've been
- 36:26Speaker 3: really interested in following more what the Democrats have to
- 36:29Speaker 3: say of some of the people that do similar work
- 36:32Speaker 3: to you, but on the national level for Democrats. Matter
- 36:35Speaker 3: of fact, I saw one of them yesterday on one
- 36:37Speaker 3: of the I think it was on the Hill with
- 36:40Speaker 3: with with Stywalk yesterday, and he basically just said what
- 36:44Speaker 3: some others have said is that the Democratic Party forgot
- 36:49Speaker 3: their roots, so to speak, and they have left the
- 36:52Speaker 3: working people behind. Now that's a Democratic strategist who said that,
- 36:57Speaker 3: and so many others have said that as well on
- 36:59Speaker 3: the day Democrat side. So there's got to be something
- 37:01Speaker 3: to that.
- 37:02Speaker 10: They've really got to take a close look at how
- 37:04Speaker 10: they form this coalition. I mean, I think they really
- 37:07Speaker 10: were banking on illegal immigrants coming and voting right. I mean,
- 37:11Speaker 10: I think they just looked at it and said, Okay,
- 37:13Speaker 10: you know, we're just going to hope that you know,
- 37:16Speaker 10: minorities stick with this. We're going to have to bring
- 37:18Speaker 10: in more of them. You know, we have a handful.
- 37:22Speaker 10: You know, obviously we're funded by the elites and the
- 37:25Speaker 10: labor unions and the trial lawyers. Like, we'll have the money,
- 37:29Speaker 10: but how do we get the people? And it was like,
- 37:30Speaker 10: we'll just bring them in, and they just couldn't bring
- 37:34Speaker 10: them in and get them legally or get them voting
- 37:37Speaker 10: quick enough to sort of make the difference up here.
- 37:41Speaker 10: And now with Trump coming in and a lot of
- 37:42Speaker 10: those you know, the you know, obviously there's a lot
- 37:45Speaker 10: of talk about deportation. But even before we get that,
- 37:48Speaker 10: I mean, you know, just those The reason that so
- 37:52Speaker 10: many of these people come in from out of the
- 37:53Speaker 10: country is that they're just promised the world. Right, It's like, hey,
- 37:56Speaker 10: we're going to put you up in a hotel, and
- 37:57Speaker 10: here's money and here's stuff. If you stop those programs,
- 38:02Speaker 10: those people will quit compon, right, and a lot of
- 38:04Speaker 10: those people will go back home if you're just not
- 38:06Speaker 10: going to give him free money. And so I think
- 38:09Speaker 10: a lot of those folks will lead. But I but
- 38:11Speaker 10: I agree with you. You know, the Democrats really are
- 38:13Speaker 10: going to have to look at this and say, hey,
- 38:15Speaker 10: you know, we can't just give up everybody that has
- 38:18Speaker 10: a job or everybody that has a job and goes
- 38:21Speaker 10: to work.
- 38:21Speaker 3: It was interesting to me to see that where Trump
- 38:24Speaker 3: actually gained, and it was in Hispanics.
- 38:28Speaker 4: It was it was some of the people.
- 38:30Speaker 3: I mean, face it, if Trump doesn't pick up new voters,
- 38:33Speaker 3: he doesn't win this time. He could not win this election.
- 38:37Speaker 3: I mean West Virginia's obviously going to carry, but to
- 38:39Speaker 3: these other areas if he does not pick up new
- 38:41Speaker 3: voters that maybe either set out in twenty twenty or
- 38:45Speaker 3: didn't support him in twenty twenty, maybe they maybe they
- 38:48Speaker 3: went Biden, or maybe they didn't vote at all.
- 38:49Speaker 4: Who knows. He doesn't pick up new people, he doesn't win, Greg.
- 38:52Speaker 10: Well, and I think inflation's the thing that was killing
- 38:54Speaker 10: those folks, right, I mean, that's you know, those working
- 38:57Speaker 10: class people that just were having trouble meeting the mortgage,
- 39:01Speaker 10: We're having trouble with the car payment, We're having trouble.
- 39:03Speaker 10: Where they looked back and said, hey, gosh, you know
- 39:06Speaker 10: things were just going better for me when Trump was president, right.
- 39:09Speaker 10: I mean, even if they had, even if they were
- 39:11Speaker 10: had not voted for him in sixteen, their lives more
- 39:15Speaker 10: than likely were better in nineteen before pre COVID, right,
- 39:18Speaker 10: and then COVID obviously, you know, turned that whole thing
- 39:21Speaker 10: upside down. But look, I think Trump is going to
- 39:25Speaker 10: be a better president this time than what he would
- 39:28Speaker 10: have been after the twenty election.
- 39:31Speaker 4: Well, he's got well here's the thing about it, Greg, He's.
- 39:33Speaker 3: Got a lot more people to work with now he's
- 39:35Speaker 3: going to have, you know, the other branches of government involved.
- 39:39Speaker 3: So a lot of these promises that Trump made in
- 39:41Speaker 3: twenty sixteen, and some Trump supporters said, well, he couldn't
- 39:44Speaker 3: get it done because of this or I mean I'm
- 39:46Speaker 3: not saying God forbid if we have another COVID again,
- 39:49Speaker 3: because but I'm.
- 39:50Speaker 4: Just saying he's he didn't have any excuses this time.
- 39:53Speaker 3: He's got it and so he's got to get it done.
- 39:57Speaker 10: And I think he learned from some of his mistakes.
- 40:00Speaker 10: I mean, he trusted people like McConnell last time that
- 40:02Speaker 10: helped him, you know, fill the government, and those were
- 40:05Speaker 10: the people that turned around and stabbed him in the back.
- 40:08Speaker 10: You know, he knows he has to do something about
- 40:10Speaker 10: this deep state, the FBI, the dj the CIA, all
- 40:13Speaker 10: the three letter stuff, the alphabet agency stuff. He's got
- 40:17Speaker 10: to go and get that stuff cleared up. But he's
- 40:19Speaker 10: got this coalition together right too, of like different people
- 40:23Speaker 10: that it's not just all, hey, I'm going to get
- 40:25Speaker 10: there on this message or reform and then when I
- 40:28Speaker 10: get there, seventy five percent of my staff is just
- 40:31Speaker 10: going to be the same people that were there.
- 40:32Speaker 6: Right.
- 40:33Speaker 10: He's not doing that again this time. And you can
- 40:34Speaker 10: see it, right. I Mean, he's bringing in people that
- 40:37Speaker 10: are not just your traditional Republicans to head a lot
- 40:40Speaker 10: of these agencies and be in his cabinet. And you know,
- 40:45Speaker 10: to me, that's that's why people are so excited right now,
- 40:48Speaker 10: is because it really does feel different, right It feels
- 40:52Speaker 10: like he's going to make different decisions than what he
- 40:55Speaker 10: did the first time. And you know, we all knew
- 40:59Speaker 10: we need reform. I mean thisment federal government spending is
- 41:02Speaker 10: out of control. You know, the foreign involvement in foreign
- 41:06Speaker 10: wars is outrageous. You know, inflations out of control, interest
- 41:11Speaker 10: rates are high. I mean, you know that the Democrats
- 41:14Speaker 10: just made so many mistakes that are hurting working class people.
- 41:18Speaker 10: You know, I think Trump's got you know, an easy
- 41:23Speaker 10: ten to twenty five wins that he can do over
- 41:26Speaker 10: the next you know, from January twentieth to June first.
- 41:29Speaker 10: I mean, I just think he's going to be I
- 41:31Speaker 10: think it's just going to be win after win after
- 41:32Speaker 10: when you know what, you know, what happens after that
- 41:36Speaker 10: will be determined. But you know, there's just a lot
- 41:38Speaker 10: of low hanging fruit for him to come in and
- 41:41Speaker 10: you know, do a lot of good in a short
- 41:42Speaker 10: amount of time.
- 41:43Speaker 3: But Dave Allen showing five Any Life brought to you

- 42:01Speaker 4: Jack.
- 42:01Speaker 3: I have alatest episodes wv Metronews dot com, the podcast
- 42:04Speaker 3: menu and start your journey towards better health Today, Greg,
- 42:07Speaker 3: I want to get your take on this. There was
- 42:08Speaker 3: an article that came out recently in the Hill that
- 42:12Speaker 3: the majority of voters say they approve of President elect
- 42:17Speaker 3: Trump's handling of the presidential transition so far. Now, this
- 42:21Speaker 3: poll was done by CBS News and it was released yesterday.
- 42:25Speaker 3: The Hill first reported not it. It's just fifty nine
- 42:27Speaker 3: percent say that they approved so far the way Trump
- 42:31Speaker 3: is handling the transition.
- 42:32Speaker 10: And look, I think that goes back to that coalition
- 42:35Speaker 10: I just mentioned. I mean, he's bringing in different kinds
- 42:39Speaker 10: of people, right, So you know you've got that Republican base, right,
- 42:42Speaker 10: You've got that like Maga Trump base. You know you've
- 42:45Speaker 10: got those folks. But he's brought in these new people
- 42:49Speaker 10: and in different kinds of people than a Republican president
- 42:52Speaker 10: would typically have in some of these positions. And so
- 42:54Speaker 10: I think you're just you're getting you know, the Republicans
- 42:57Speaker 10: are excited your base, Republicans are excited because a republic
- 43:01Speaker 10: because the Democrats are no longer in control. But then
- 43:03Speaker 10: you've got some of these independents and some of these
- 43:06Speaker 10: like libertarian folks and other people that all of a
- 43:08Speaker 10: sudden are like, oh, hey, they're talking about things that
- 43:11Speaker 10: even it may not be my person in there, but
- 43:14Speaker 10: they're talking about issues that I care about. Right, We've
- 43:16Speaker 10: brought a bunch of new issues to the table. Trump
- 43:20Speaker 10: has brought a bunch of new issues to the table,
- 43:24Speaker 10: you know, with related to healthcare and with related to
- 43:27Speaker 10: you know, the Department of Justice and uh, you know
- 43:31Speaker 10: Internet freedom and you know Elon Musk and government reform it.
- 43:36Speaker 10: You know that that what is it, the do dog whatever,
- 43:39Speaker 10: you know, Department of Government Efficiency. Like, people know we
- 43:42Speaker 10: have to do that stuff because they know it was
- 43:43Speaker 10: out of control. You know, they know it was out
- 43:45Speaker 10: of control. So I think that's exactly why. And Trump
- 43:49Speaker 10: is being so much more disciplined than he was, right,
- 43:53Speaker 10: I mean, we we talked about this during the campaign
- 43:55Speaker 10: of like oh, how do we think he's going to do?
- 43:57Speaker 10: And you know, look, there were a few places he
- 44:00Speaker 10: would get off, you know, go down his typical rabbit
- 44:03Speaker 10: hole and do his thing. But he is a much
- 44:05Speaker 10: more He was a much more disciplined candidate during this campaign,
- 44:10Speaker 10: which I think contributed to the to the size of
- 44:12Speaker 10: the victory. But I think he's been I just think
- 44:16Speaker 10: it looks like it's going to be a much more
- 44:18Speaker 10: disciplined presidency of him looking at it and saying, hey,
- 44:22Speaker 10: I've got four years. I've got to get this stuff done.
- 44:25Speaker 10: You know, we've got the Senate, we've got the House,
- 44:27Speaker 10: We've got the people with us. I've got a fifty
- 44:28Speaker 10: nine percent approval rating. Let's get to work right And
- 44:32Speaker 10: from what I can tell and what I think fifty
- 44:34Speaker 10: nine percent of the rest of America can tell, looks
- 44:36Speaker 10: like he's doing that.
- 44:37Speaker 3: Texas, Trump got a little more than two million more
- 44:40Speaker 3: votes than Kamala Biden got him with seven million more
- 44:43Speaker 3: votes than Trump. Let's not act like Trump got some
- 44:46Speaker 3: sort of mandate. The only thing it says is the
- 44:48Speaker 3: syndicated conservative media fear machine works on people who don't
- 44:52Speaker 3: realize Trump's spending in Action's helped cause inflation.
- 44:58Speaker 10: Look, I think that person's p probably not making the
- 45:00Speaker 10: point they think they're making with that, right. I mean,
- 45:03Speaker 10: Trump continued to get more votes, and Harris especially if
- 45:07Speaker 10: you look at, you know, how Obama did in previous
- 45:10Speaker 10: Democrat elections, it really just shows you how out of
- 45:13Speaker 10: whack twenty twenty was, right. So, you know, I think
- 45:15Speaker 10: for a lot of the people that said, oh my gosh,
- 45:17Speaker 10: you know, did Trump steel you know, that was Trump's
- 45:19Speaker 10: election twenty twenty stolen, it would be hard to look
- 45:22Speaker 10: at the twenty four election, twenty elections, sixteen election, and
- 45:26Speaker 10: twelve election and not see that twenty was way out
- 45:29Speaker 10: of whack, right. And so look, I think the Democrats
- 45:33Speaker 10: they've really got to do something. And it can't just
- 45:36Speaker 10: be in those major cities, right, It can't just be
- 45:39Speaker 10: you know, because of the electoral college. They can't say, oh,
- 45:43Speaker 10: we just got to do better in Detroit. We just
- 45:45Speaker 10: got to do better in Philadelphia, we just got to
- 45:47Speaker 10: do better in Atlanta. They've got to do better than
- 45:50Speaker 10: the suburbs. They have to do better. And the reality
- 45:53Speaker 10: is is Trump did better in those cities than what
- 45:55Speaker 10: he did previously too, And that goes back to what
- 45:58Speaker 10: you said earlier about the middle class. I mean, it's
- 46:00Speaker 10: just middle class Hispanics, middle class Blacks looked at it
- 46:03Speaker 10: and said, I can't afford four more years of Biden
- 46:06Speaker 10: Harris presidency. You know, I've got to go to I'm
- 46:09Speaker 10: going to go to a different direction. I'd like to
- 46:11Speaker 10: go back in time to twenty eighteen when the economy
- 46:14Speaker 10: was on fire and Trump was president nine p.
- 46:16Speaker 4: Fifty three.

- 48:54Speaker 3: Ask Greg who has the best economy in the world,
- 48:56Speaker 3: and how West Virginia has benefited from Biden. I couldn't
- 48:59Speaker 3: buy toilet paper when Trump was president or go out
- 49:02Speaker 3: and eat. The country was shut down. Everyone is better
- 49:05Speaker 3: off today. Give me thirty seconds on that, because I
- 49:07Speaker 3: got more stuff I want to get in.
- 49:08Speaker 10: You're going to compare what they did with COVID, which
- 49:11Speaker 10: was which a lot of which was a mistake, to
- 49:13Speaker 10: just the economy right now. I mean, that's so apples
- 49:16Speaker 10: and oranges and they know exactly what they're doing there.
- 49:19Speaker 10: Everybody knows that inflation's out of control. And if you
- 49:23Speaker 10: think that toilet paper anything else at Walmart is more
- 49:26Speaker 10: affordable today than it was five years ago, you're just
- 49:29Speaker 10: you're crazy, crazy.
- 49:30Speaker 3: Tex says, when do you have in Mike Pushkin back
- 49:32Speaker 3: on the show. Would love to hear his expert opinion
- 49:34Speaker 3: on why the voters nationwide shows overwhelmingly the conservative Republican
- 49:38Speaker 3: Party candidates. Pushkin anybody else is open on a welcome
- 49:42Speaker 3: to come on the show anytime they want. You know,
- 49:45Speaker 3: I don't normally seek out guests. They seek out me,
- 49:48Speaker 3: and they seek out the show. So anytime that any
- 49:49Speaker 3: of them want on, all they get to do is
- 49:51Speaker 3: reach out.
- 49:52Speaker 4: Greg.
- 49:52Speaker 3: I want to talk to you about some stuff in
- 49:54Speaker 3: West Virginia. What's on your mind West Virginia wise?
- 49:56Speaker 10: Well, I think you got two main things going on
- 49:59Speaker 10: right now. Obviously, Morrisey's got his transition underway. They've got
- 50:03Speaker 10: a website to have people, uh send in comments apply
- 50:08Speaker 10: for jobs. I know he announced a transition team, and
- 50:12Speaker 10: I know those folks are out there meeting with people.
- 50:15Speaker 10: Is they're, you know, privately trying to figure out who
- 50:17Speaker 10: their team's going to be and what their agenda is
- 50:19Speaker 10: going to be. Uh So I think that's a big
- 50:21Speaker 10: thing that's going on behind the scenes. And then and
- 50:24Speaker 10: then you got the Senate presidency fight, you know, which
- 50:26Speaker 10: is uh they're going to have a vote when they
- 50:28Speaker 10: come in for interims in December. And you've got a
- 50:31Speaker 10: few different people, including a couple of local folks that
- 50:33Speaker 10: are that are involved in that. The one person that
- 50:37Speaker 10: is involved in it, that that everybody's starting to realize
- 50:41Speaker 10: is involved in it is Robert Carnes. I don't if
- 50:43Speaker 10: you remember. You know, Carnes was a state senator that
- 50:46Speaker 10: got beat in the primary. It was just really just
- 50:49Speaker 10: a troublemaker, you know, tries to go out there and
- 50:52Speaker 10: you know, these guys go out there and they talk,
- 50:54Speaker 10: they say like, oh, we're the far right wing, but
- 50:56Speaker 10: you know, most of the time they're not even the
- 50:58Speaker 10: far right wing because they're you know, endorsed by you know,
- 51:01Speaker 10: they get money from personal injury lawyers, labor unions. A
- 51:04Speaker 10: lot of times, they're just the you know, sort of
- 51:06Speaker 10: the old time social conservative democrats that that you know,
- 51:10Speaker 10: tended to vote with the liberals on the economic issues.
- 51:13Speaker 10: And you know, This is a guy that's just trying
- 51:15Speaker 10: to create chaos in the whole thing. You know, just
- 51:19Speaker 10: use the divisive issues. You know, this is the group
- 51:22Speaker 10: that wants to you know, have a total ban on abortion.
- 51:25Speaker 10: You know, they want to get rid of vaccine requirements.
- 51:28Speaker 10: They were the ones that you know, dealt with lower
- 51:31Speaker 10: in the age of marriage and the whole spousal rate.
- 51:34Speaker 10: You know, just a lot of the spousal rape, a
- 51:36Speaker 10: lot of those crazy issues that really didn't they don't
- 51:39Speaker 10: work in the elections. But that's the thing they do.
- 51:42Speaker 10: They go out there and they sort of get these
- 51:44Speaker 10: devisive wedge issues to try to make them Republican, you know,
- 51:47Speaker 10: to to meddle in Republican primaries, and you know, for
- 51:50Speaker 10: the most case, they don't work. You know, they tried
- 51:53Speaker 10: that stuff against Robbie Morris and Eric Nelson and Weld
- 51:55Speaker 10: and they didn't work. And you know, so I just
- 51:59Speaker 10: you know, look, I think as people are, you know,
- 52:01Speaker 10: we have some good candidates for that stuff. You know,
- 52:04Speaker 10: I just think people need to know that Carnes is
- 52:06Speaker 10: behind a certain group and hopefully, you know, people realize
- 52:10Speaker 10: it's the reason for it.
