- 0:00SPEAKER_00: First off, day five.
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: That's uh this is day five of the fast.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Sorry to be yelling.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: I sound like I'd be yelling.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Sorry, and I got a lot of stuff going on.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: So let's get all this stuff going.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: So this is day five of a fast, undetermined length of time, but just kind of want to give you an update.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: So a few things.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Um, if you're gonna embark on this, I I hear people talking about insulin resistance and it being a storage hormone, and absolutely it's it's just a wonderful storage hormone.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: It does, it does a lot, but it one of the things that it does very, very well is it stores stuff.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: So when you're eating and insulin is active in the body because you're not eating, fat does nothing to insulin.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Protein, more of an effect, sugar, carbohydrates, carbohydrates, big effect.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: It depends on the type of carbohydrate, how much and how long-lasting that effect is on your insulin.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: But if you're eating white bread, white bread's lovely in the way that it really drives up insulin.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: It'll keep it there nice and high for hours.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: The perfect combination of white bread when you're eating it, probably one of the most palatable for me is pizza.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Pizza has the white bread, right?
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: And because it has the crust, it just it's lovely, it elevates that insulin and it just stores, it stores very well its fat on the body.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: So we have this.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: In order to get out of that storage cycle and tell your body, hey, it's time to get to some of that fat that we've stored up for times in which we don't have enough to eat, because that's really what the fat is.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: It's it's not there for looks, because as we know, it doesn't really help.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: I guess it probably depends on exactly where it's located, but most of the time it doesn't really help.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: In order to access it, to get to it, I find for me, and I'm not a doctor, not a uh nutritionist, if you want to coach, Julie, I have a wonderful coach.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: She can walk through you.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Now, her plan isn't my plan, it's a it's a different kind of plan.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: My plan is what's worked for me.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: It's very edgy.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: But Julie is very good at what she does.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: And if you need that person, that support system, plus an entire plan coaching, I I have access to that.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Julie Hittleman, you can go to Hittleman Health, H-I-T-T-L-E-M-A-N Health.com.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Again, not affiliated with me, nothing what I do, because ultimately what I do is is dangerous.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Not eating or skipping a meal could be very dangerous for people.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: So, but I'm going to talk about my day five.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: So that's that for Julie, but let's get back to this.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: When your insulin's high, you store a lot of things.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: If you're able to get your insulin lowered by the types of food you eat, you could do it that way, or not eating at all, which might actually have a better hormonal response.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: So when you fast, when you're not eating, my experience with me, this is day five.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Day two is hard, day three was hard, day four, not as hard.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Day five, hopefully not as hard.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: We're at almost 12 o'clock on day five, noon.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: So hopefully I'll make it through.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: And I say hopefully because I'm a food addict.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: So that's the other thing that I get to I get to enjoy in my life.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: I'm addicted.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: And it's I'm not addicted to eggs and chicken breast and and hamburger meat and steaks.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: Um, not so much addicted to that.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: But you give me uh potatoes, you give me lots of fruit, you give me ice cream, you give me cake, you give me pizza, you give me pasta.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Yes, I said fruit.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Sorry about that.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: But it's true, I can sit down and eat a lot of fruit.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Um, and a lot of anything sweet, lots of honey.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: They say, oh, honey's natural.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, oh, oh, I can eat a lot of honey.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: And you put honey with biscuits and stuff, yeah, I'll kill it.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: I'll kill when I have pancakes and uh I'll an entire thing of syrup, absolutely, all empty and multiple things of syrup on pancakes.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: I know it's not like honey, but if it was if all I had was honey and pancakes, it would be the same thing.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: That's that's an addiction, folks.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: And maybe you don't have that, maybe you know what that's like.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're one of those people that can have that one drink every year.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: I have alcohol, I go all the way.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: If I smoke cigarettes, again, I go all the way.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: So I've quit all those things.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: I've had great experiences with all of them.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: I didn't end up in a place where I had to do anything.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: So it's not like I was booked in jail or ruined lives or these sorts of things.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: The only life that I ended up causing issues with were my own by these addictions.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: So I've tried to break these addictions and I've gotten through all of them.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: That's why I uh sponsored and put together the website, thelastaddiction.com, because it really is my last.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: It's the last thing I have to do.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna be 57 soon, and it's still the last thing.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Now, I did a long fasting regimen, 14 days.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: I dropped a lot of fat back in the day, but that's what kicked it off.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Where I was able to do, you know, back-to-back two, three, and four-day fasts, have some very sensible refeeding.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: When I broke the fast, I was eating, you know, fat and protein.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: I stayed away from carbohydrates.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: I was able to maintain that for about seven and a half months.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: I dropped 135 pounds of fat.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: It was lovely.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: I went from 365 to in the 230s, and I went from a 65-inch waste to a 33, 34-inch waste.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: So that's why I was at 230, 235, 240, right around there.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: That's when I lost it.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Now I've been lifting hard.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: I'm on testosterone therapy.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: I started that a few years ago because my testosterone was incredibly low.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: So when you have hormonal issues, go see your doctor.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: They'll look at your hormones and they'll potentially prescribe something to get them back where they need to be.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: That's what happened with the testosterone, very low.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Most men experience this.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Um, I see kids, you know, taking this stuff, and absolutely it is a steroid.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: These are these are hormones.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: But this is what I take at a doctor's prescription.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: So, what that did was that kind of gave me a lot more energy than I'd had in a long time.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: So that's a selfish plug for testosterone.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: But it's something to look at.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: If you're a female and you have low estrogen, again, maybe getting that supplemented is something that will change your outlook on things.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: So there's a lot to do in the medical world.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: But after I did that, um, I started to notice some things changing.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: I was able to build and maintain muscle mass a lot better than I ever had before.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: But even the fasting is really was that key ingredient to making everything work.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: So I got down to 235.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: I started testosterone therapy and I started building muscle, but I also started eating again.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Eating, eating not like before eating.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: I don't touch chips anymore, but pizza and donuts never stop.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Ice cream, what I can get my hands on it didn't stop.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: So those addictions stayed with me.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: I didn't do it as often as I used to at 365 pounds with a 65-inch waist and go into drive-thru mode where I would be on autopilot and go into drive-throughs at various restaurants at different times during the day and just load up on you know 16 tacos.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: I think the number keeps getting bigger.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: But I've done 16.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: I've done 14 uh tacos, I've done uh two large curly fries at Jack in the Box, I've done two large Oreo cookie shakes at Jack in the Box.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: So all this food, eating it so fast, you I literally burn the inside of my mouth.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: And then having to get rid of the evidence, right?
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: Get rid of the smell, because that stuff, it sticks on you, that smell.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: And other people can pick it up.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: You don't think they can.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: But when you get around the people, what's that?
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: What's that what's that smell?
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Is that like burnt laundry?
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: What is that?
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: But anyway, that's the food.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: So I would power all that down, and then still, of course, you know, have to eat later on because that was part of the familial ritual back in the day.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Having said that, it's uh it was horrible.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: So in the new life, I don't do those things anymore.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Yet pizza, yeah, still a thing.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: Donuts, yeah, still a thing.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: Ice cream, of course, still a thing.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: I'm not good with moderation, that's not me.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: And day five will prove it.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: I will tell you, I'm not a person that can just have a little bit of anything.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Me, I have to have a lot of everything, or I don't.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: When it comes to eating things that aren't in a wrap or don't have an ingredient list, that aren't processed, that aren't from a restaurant or fast food takeout or can be delivered by Uber Eats.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: If I'm eating eggs, meat, fish, and uh particular kinds of cheeses and vegetables, yeah.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: There's not an issue with packing in too much.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: But it's always with the processed stuff that I mean, I can just gorge like nobody's business.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: I can gorge like a 600-pound person, no problem.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: And that's a problem.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: It's a problem because all it does is drive up my insulin.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: I store so much.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: And not only that, I can tell the difference.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: On day five of a fast, how sore I am walking around normally, I'm not it's sore at all.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: Uh, after about three days into the fast, all my soreness goes away, joint pain, any kind of inflammation I'm carrying, any kind of swollenness anywhere.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, but any kind of like ankle swollen, feet, swollen, hands swollen, everything just it just bleeds off all of that crappy water that you have stored in you.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: But with your fasting for a longer period of time, you have to make sure that you're definitely keeping up your electrolyte intake.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: So I have, you know, um I drink few of these a day, and they have a quarter teaspoon of uh salt in them, redmond sea salt.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: So it's good.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: Coffee always put um black coffee, but I always put some a quarter teaspoon of Redmond sea salt in that as well.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: I'll have potassium, no salt.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: I'll use that at one time during the day.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: And of course, magnesium, the other electrolyte.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: So this is a uh this is Neuromag by Life Extension.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: This is a morning one, and this one's a before-bed one.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: The uh, I think that's citrate, right?
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, magnesium citrate, 400 milligrams.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: So that's that's the protocol.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: That's that's what I take when I'm fasting.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: And I noticed that it's it does definitely curb the hunger a little bit because when your electrolytes are low, electrolytes, now you might go get the packs.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: You might go and and buy the packages that you tear off and put in the water.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: The issue is that sweet taste.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: That sweet taste drives me to get hungry.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Doesn't do anything to my insulin, as far as I understand.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: It doesn't change really anything.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: I don't know if those um, because you're giving your body a break.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: So those hitting your gut, and I don't know what that does to your gut bacteria when you have the the different uh types of fake sugars, the fake sweeteners in there.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: I don't know what that does.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: But if you're gonna fast, if you're gonna give it a few days, you might as well just let yourself heal a little bit instead of putting something that might activate the stuff in your gut.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: I don't know if it does or not, but that's kind of it's it's more of a you know, this this peaceful, kind of a tranquil place.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: And, you know, if you have stress, you know what, the fast I don't think is gonna change much.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: If you haven't done it before, you're gonna get hangry.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: That's hungry and angry.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: And it could happen.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: I do notice that whenever I get hungry, it comes in waves.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: So there'll be times throughout the day.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Usually I'm a one meal-a day eater anyway, but you know, at the most two.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: But what ends up happening is during those times is when I typically get most hungry.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: So right now is not a problem.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: The morning time is not a problem.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: When we get to about two to four, two to five, that three-hour block in there, yeah, I have to be careful because that's the time I'll blow it out.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Usually later isn't an issue, and I'm working, you know, 16, 17 hour days.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: But usually that evening time, the afternoon's critical, and the evening, depending on what I'm doing.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: If I'm still working late until you know eight or nine o'clock, getting ready for bed, then not a problem.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: But if I get bored or I have something that I think, you know, some kind of moment of uh I have a thought that I might want it, I have to really be careful because that thought in of itself is incredibly dangerous for a food addict like me.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: It makes me want to go just do it.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: So I pull back.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: So for me, the fasting is great.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: How long?
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: Somebody asked yesterday, uh, how long was I gonna go?
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: And you know, I I think we're gonna play with the idea of 40 days, but we'll see.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: This is I'll keep it right here.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: I'll keep putting these videos up on Loom.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: This is day five, like I said.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: We get through day, day six, day seven.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: I haven't felt any cramping.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: Um, I went for a five-mile walk this morning.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: I still work out and lift weights every day.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: So none of that changes.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: Um, the the lifting the weights in a fed state versus a fasted state, a little less, but I'm still I'm still struggling uh in the lifts.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Not struggling because I'm fasting, but when I'm lifting, I'm getting close to failure in the lifts as well.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: So I might not be doing as much the same amount of volume in a Fed state that I am now, but it it's just because I just want to maintain right now.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: I'm not trying to do anything crazy.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: I just want to keep it.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: But I really don't change a lot of the frequency.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: It just depends in my mind.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: I think, well, I'm fasting, so I can get away with you know five or seven sets per muscle group every two or three days.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: And that's plenty.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: That's that's and is that less than what I did before?
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'd sometimes I do 20, 30 sets per muscle group um per week, um, multiple times per week, maybe one or two days, but a max most of you know 20, 30 sets per week.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: That's typically, you know, my lifting phase.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: But again, it's not a big deal.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: What ends up happening when you're fasting is you get into autophagy, so your body starts clearing out all the crappy stuff that's inside of you.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: It'll even hit tumors at one point, it'll even get in there and extract precancerous stuff and even cancerous, some of the doctors say.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: So that's a that's a good point.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: And it does rebuild everything.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: So you're really coming out on the other side of a fast, you're a new human being.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: That's why when you get done fasting, don't blow it out with something crazy like desserts or pies or cakes or cookies or ice cream or pizza.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: Don't do that.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Don't do that to yourself.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: Number one, it could kill you.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: And number two, it's gonna be really painful.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: And number three, you're gonna just shit your guts out.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's just gonna go all the way through you, like right through a goose.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be everywhere, it's gonna be horrible, it's gonna be, it's just gonna be nasty.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: So when you're breaking a fast after a long period of time, you want to do it gently.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: You want to do it easily.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: You want to potentially do it with you know something that's very gentle on the body, do it with the uh bone broth would be great.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: Just just something easy and and take a few days.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: If if you're going 40, if I'm going 40 days, when it when I get done with this thing, I'm not gonna be plowing down, you know, uh everything I can eat.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: Hopefully, what I'm trying to do is I'm trying to reset myself so I don't ever eat pizza again, I don't ever eat dessert again.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: I I've already done that with alcohol and cigarettes and chewing tobacco.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: I don't ever do those things.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: I just won't.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: If I'm at a party and everybody's handing out drinks, like, oh my god, Connor, just have one.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: No, I'm not going to have one.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: I just don't do that to myself any more than I would drink bleach.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: So that's how I've X that out.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: I would love to be able to do the same thing with carbohydrates, with the sugars, the starches, um, even a lot of the fruits, the honey, of course.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: I just I want to stay away from sweet.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: I would like to put that dopamine to rest on that level because it's it's right up there with coke, cocaine, same, same uh stimulation centers of the brain get activated when you're eating sweet things.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Same thing with cocaine, apparently.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: That's what they show, so you can look that up and check it out.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: If you want resources online, Dr.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Jason Fung, F-U-N-G, lovely.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: He'll give you a lot of information.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: There's a cardiac surgeon, Jadeep, Jideep, he's an Indian cat.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: Again, just lovely, just wonderful.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: They talk about fasting, they talk about fasting, not short-term or long term.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: Now, why fasting?
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Why not caloric restriction?
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: Caloric restriction hasn't worked for me.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: I I've I've done everything.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: I've done the Atkins style caloric restriction.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: And um I've done other types.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: I've done the Lindor, I've done the different plans out there.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: Just didn't work for me.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Was that a failure in me?
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they would have you believe it is.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm the jury's out on that with regard to me, but they would have you say, well, if you're if it's not working for you, that's because you're doing something wrong.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: If you follow the protocol that we lay out for you, it's gonna be perfect.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: I don't know if I'm so much into that as I'm into caloric restriction causes metabolic disadvantages when you cut your calories because your body now looks like, well, I'm getting some food.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: I'm not actually starving, so I'm not gonna kick all the way over into this hormonal advantage for this person.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: So I'm just gonna kick back and I'm gonna let the muscle go away.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: I might burn some fat in there as well.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: But you know, it looks like this thousand calorie day thing is gonna go for a while.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna go ahead and just stick, stick it right here.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: And then also what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna lower my metabolism as well, because yeah, I just can't.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm gonna have to lower it.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: And it's gonna make them angry, it's gonna make them not want to work out, it's not it's gonna make them want to walk, not want to walk or anything else.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna go ahead and lower that metabolism also.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: That being the case, then now we have the problem.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: What happens when you're done with that particular caloric restricted diet?
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: So you go back to eating your 2,000 or 2,500 calories a day, even clean, right?
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: You're eating it clean.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: Well, what happens?
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: Your body's stuck down at a thousand.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: So yeah, you're gonna be beginning some fat there.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: And you might go past where you were in the past.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: It just doesn't seem to work for me.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: Okay, so when I get to the fasting portion of it, it changes the dynamic where it's a hormonal advantage for my body.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: A couple things, just to kind of throw them out there.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: Uh, growth hormone.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: Your body starts to uh increase its issuance of growth hormone.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: So anywhere from two to 500 percent more, that's going to preserve that muscle because you're not delaying something.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: You've now just slammed the door shut.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: You have no food coming in, your body gets through the sugar that it's got stored in the liver and whatever it has stored in the muscles, and it it panics.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: Oh no, this this is starvation.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: I'm going to die.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: So I need to uptake everything.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: I need to start raising the metabolism.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: Believe it or not, it raises the metabolism.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: That's what ketones are.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: You've heard of ketones.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: Atkins talks about ketones, but when you when you starve, when you don't eat anything, ketones are also a byproduct.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: Why can you detect ketones in your blood or urine?
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: Why is that?
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: Your body burns more than it needs to sustain yourself.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: So you're getting plenty of beautifully put together meals every day when your body needs it to feed your brain through uh gluconeogenesis.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: It creates that sugar that drives whatever organs need sugar, drives that from your fat, even without anything, any intake.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: But to have that hormonal switch, you have to cut out everything.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: The other thing that it does is it increases the metabolism, like I said.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: There is some issue with hunger, of course, when you're not eating, but that is something that happens at the times you normally eat in the past.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: And that wave lasts 20, 30, 40 minutes.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: I talk about my two and three hour time.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: That's just the time it's most dangerous.
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: I'm not sitting there chewing my nails wanting to eat my own arm because I'm so hungry.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: That's just the time that I know that that wave's coming.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be in there.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: Whether it's at the beginning of the 2 p.m.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: hour or whether it's the end of the five o'clock hour.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: And then later, as we get towards the evening, maybe some things happen that I want to celebrate.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: I'm a big celebratory.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: Celebratory?
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm a big I'm I eat when I'm happy, but I also eat when I'm depressed, and I eat when I'm uh in the middle.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: I eat at all times.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: I'm just I just like to eat because that's the thing.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: So now staying away from it, I'm much better at shutting the door and not eating anything at all.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: And it's almost not really teaching myself a lesson, but yeah, it's kind of like uh teaching myself a lesson.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: The first lesson I taught when I went from 365 into the 230s was that I can actually do this.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: If I have fat on my body, I can actually not eat to get rid of it.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: I can go to the point that I don't have any fat left as far as what would be uh a metabolic inadvantage.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: You don't want to go so long that now you start to deplete other vital things in your body like muscles and organs, and you will.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: If you get down to a very lean level, like walk on stage, bodybuilder lean, where you can see the striations and cuts, and and there's like zero fat that you can see, that's a problem.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: Those people fast, yeah, it'll kill them because it's going to go after now, they'll have plenty of muscle tissue to eat up, but it also goes after the organs at that point.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: But I'm talking about fat people.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: I'm talking about me.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: I I'm very I'm still I have I have weeks and weeks of fat here that I could not eat, completely starve myself, completely in a fasted state, and I would still be okay until I get down to that one and two and three percent level.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: And yeah, there's no way I'll get to 15% and be very happy.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: I don't know what that's gonna look like with the muscle that I put on.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: 230s isn't going to do it for me anymore.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: It's probably gonna be somewhere in the 260s, maybe low 270s.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: That's my goal this time.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: And then what I hope to do is never have pizza, never have.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Donuts, never have cake, never have cookies, never have any of that crap, but just eat whole foods the meat, eggs, fish, vegetables, and uh did I say eggs?
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: And that's it.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: That's what I plan to do.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: And I'll take that for the next several centuries as long as I'm able to live on this planet.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: If we get to escape velocity for longevity, that's the other thing.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we might be able to live a lot longer than our current lifespans indicate.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: We'll have to see.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: But I'm all in for that.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: So I have to get myself in shape and prepared for that.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: If you have any questions, let me know.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: This is thelastaddiction.com.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: And you can look up Julia HittelmanHealth.com.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: Again, not affiliated with this program.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: It's she's not, we're not aligned on that, but she has done some remarkable things for people.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: And it's her stuff is all blessed.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: Blessed by doctors, blessed by dietitians, blessed by nutritionists.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: My stuff, not blessed, not blessed at all.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: So stay away.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: But again, just my story.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: And maybe some of you that are struggling with food addiction, maybe some of you need this kind of story.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: Maybe this helps some of you.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: And if it does, you know what to do.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: It's on the page.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: I hope you're well.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: Thank you for watching.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: I'll see you tomorrow, day six.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: And hopefully I won't come reporting back and saying, I had pizza.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: It almost killed me.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: Because I'll be up all night in the toilet if I do that.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: So be wary, be careful, and be safe and be good to yourselves.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: All right, I'm Connor.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: We'll see you tomorrow.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: You know, I put this uh stop button.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: Found it.
