- 0:00Speaker 1: We are out of the gates on sport and state.
- 0:02Speaker 1: Glad you're with us as we're presented by Hard Rock.
- 0:05Speaker 1: This is Hutton and Withrow. Good morning to you.
- 0:07Speaker 2: He's Withrow. I'm Hutton.
- 0:09Speaker 1: And we've got a lot to discuss throughout the day.
- 0:10Speaker 1: We're going to get you through the morning ready for
- 0:14Speaker 1: the upcoming week, but also recapping the big storylines and
- 0:17Speaker 1: what has us ticked off for greatness.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Chad, good to see you, man. Hope things are well. Hutton,
- 0:23Speaker 2: they're not. I am pissed off for greatness today. Normally,
- 0:27Speaker 2: we just had a little small talk banter, and I'm like, oh,
- 0:30Speaker 2: you know, things great. I'm feeling good. I'm in a
- 0:33Speaker 2: good headspace and all that. Look, I'm fired up for
- 0:36Speaker 2: a big Monday show, but I am pissed off for greatness,
- 0:39Speaker 2: and not just with the Tennessee Vols, but with a
- 0:42Speaker 2: number of teams that we talk a lot about on
- 0:45Speaker 2: this show, but also the state of sports that I
- 0:48Speaker 2: love right now. I'm pissed off for greatness. This is
- 0:51Speaker 2: going to be a great show. Hutton, I am ready.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I am willing. I am able to be whatever you
- 0:58Speaker 2: and everyone needs me to be today. Whether that be
- 1:00Speaker 2: the enforcer, the clown, I'll be whatever you need me
- 1:04Speaker 2: to be. Okay.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Man, there's a lot of fan bases right now who
- 1:08Speaker 1: are pissed off this morning based on what happened. A
- 1:12Speaker 1: lot of the two lost teams, as we'll get to
- 1:13Speaker 1: later in the show. We'll get to the Tennessee Titans,
- 1:16Speaker 1: the NFL, Aaron Rodgers, and international games. A lot coming up.
- 1:20Speaker 1: But let's start with the balls. Look, guys, Point blank,
- 1:23Speaker 1: Lenore Sellers put on a show, man. I haven't thought
- 1:28Speaker 1: about him in the quarterback conversation in a long time.
- 1:32Speaker 1: And watching him on Saturday, Chad, he put the Gamecocks
- 1:35Speaker 1: on his back. I mean, he made plays that I
- 1:38Speaker 1: haven't heard about him making recently. And it puts him
- 1:42Speaker 1: back into the discussion of the leader that South Carolina needed.
- 1:48Speaker 1: And there's a lot to break down on this game,
- 1:50Speaker 1: but first and foremost... Shout out to him. He played
- 1:52Speaker 1: an excellent game.
- 1:54Speaker 2: He had a Matrix-like touchdown to tie the game. That
- 1:58Speaker 2: was incredible. I don't know that I've ever seen someone
- 2:01Speaker 2: physically contort their body that way with such strength. It
- 2:05Speaker 2: wasn't for lack of effort by Tennessee. He had a
- 2:07Speaker 2: guy tackling him low, pulling him back, another guy on
- 2:10Speaker 2: his torso, and he somehow twists himself to put the
- 2:14Speaker 2: ball over the line. It was more impressive.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I thought of the play that McNair made in the
- 2:19Speaker 1: Super Bowl in 1934. where he's being rushed and he
- 2:22Speaker 1: puts his hand down and somehow stays up. It was
- 2:24Speaker 1: more impressive than that. I mean, he was horizontal to
- 2:28Speaker 1: the sideline, nearly going down. I mean, was going down.
- 2:31Speaker 1: And somehow has the strength to push forward and get
- 2:34Speaker 1: across the line. He was unstoppable on that particular play.
- 2:38Speaker 2: You're right. Yeah, look, I thought he was what I
- 2:42Speaker 2: knew him to be. A great runner. A load to
- 2:46Speaker 2: bring down. I mean, he's over 240 pounds. He is
- 2:49Speaker 2: very difficult in the open field for a defensive back
- 2:52Speaker 2: to tackle because of his strength and speed. I also
- 2:56Speaker 2: saw the Lenora Sellers that, you know, unfortunate for South
- 2:59Speaker 2: Carolina fans, they've had to see a lot of over
- 3:01Speaker 2: the years. He misses three wide open guys. Tennessee has
- 3:04Speaker 2: a bust on one, overthrows a guy for a touchdown.
- 3:08Speaker 2: You know, you sprinkle in those moments too, where it's like,
- 3:11Speaker 2: why can't you put this together completely in the passing game?
- 3:15Speaker 2: I thought early on, Kendall Bryles really worked over Jim
- 3:19Speaker 2: Knowles with his script. I mean, those quick passes, the
- 3:23Speaker 2: RPO game, it was Kendall Bryles one and then two,
- 3:28Speaker 2: Jim Knowles zero and zero on those first two drives.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Terrific job by South Carolina coming out of the gates.
- 3:34Speaker 2: And I watch the start of that game and I'm thinking,
- 3:36Speaker 2: I'm having flashbacks to 2022. I'm thinking, is South Carolina
- 3:39Speaker 2: about to put 63 up on Tennessee? This is an
- 3:43Speaker 2: absolute housing of a game. Tennessee is going to get
- 3:46Speaker 2: blown off the field. And then I give credit to
- 3:49Speaker 2: Tennessee for getting off the mat on the road. I mean,
- 3:51Speaker 2: they go and march on two drives like they had
- 3:54Speaker 2: last week against Alabama. Yes. You know, a 14 or
- 3:57Speaker 2: 15-play drive, the longest in the Josh Heupel era in
- 4:01Speaker 2: terms of plays. It was a this team's for real moment, Chad.
- 4:05Speaker 1: This team's for real, legit, is what I'm thinking whenever
- 4:07Speaker 1: they get off the mat like you pointed out.
- 4:10Speaker 2: And not just the one drive. You know, back-to-back long
- 4:12Speaker 2: drives where they start to run the ball with Bishop.
- 4:15Speaker 2: They sprinkle in some passes here and there. And that's
- 4:17Speaker 2: when you realize, okay, this is what this Tennessee team is.
- 4:21Speaker 2: We're late enough in the season now. There's no disguising it.
- 4:23Speaker 2: They're not going to suddenly be a team that's going
- 4:25Speaker 2: to throw for 350 yards in a game. They are
- 4:28Speaker 2: going to beat you with defense. They're going to beat
- 4:31Speaker 2: you with their offensive line, running the football, occasionally throwing
- 4:35Speaker 2: the ball to Mike Matthews, occasionally snapping it to Mike
- 4:38Speaker 2: Matthews for a touchdown run when they do snap it
- 4:41Speaker 2: to him. He's the best player on the team with
- 4:43Speaker 2: the ball in his hands. Deshaun Bishop is the most
- 4:44Speaker 2: reliable player. player with the ball in his hands. This
- 4:46Speaker 2: is what Tennessee is. Unfortunately for Tennessee and Josh Heupel,
- 4:51Speaker 2: what Tennessee is is a team that commits way too
- 4:53Speaker 2: many penalties. This is not a new occurrence. Since he
- 4:56Speaker 2: got there in 2021, they've committed way too many penalties.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Early on, the explanation was when you run this fast,
- 5:03Speaker 2: operationally you're going to commit more penalties than the other team.
- 5:06Speaker 2: It's a tradeoff for scoring all the points, for playing
- 5:09Speaker 2: so fast, for doing what Tennessee does. I don't know
- 5:13Speaker 2: what the excuse is now that this team plays so slow.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Now that they are a ball control, run the football team,
- 5:21Speaker 2: they've got to clean up the procedural stuff when the
- 5:24Speaker 2: play starts, okay? Now let's get to why I'm pissed
- 5:27Speaker 2: off for greatness on this. Well, real quick, real quick.
- 5:30Speaker 1: That's all due to McIntyre, right? like the pace, the style.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I think it's due to their personnel.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I mean, I think it's also, Josh Heupel has this
- 5:41Speaker 2: reliance on his defense when he gets a good defense.
- 5:43Speaker 2: He did this in 2024. He slowed it down big
- 5:46Speaker 2: time with Nico. He ran the ball a lot more
- 5:48Speaker 2: with Dylan Sampson. He will play to his strength. And
- 5:51Speaker 2: if he feels like the defense is the strength, he's
- 5:53Speaker 2: going to try not to screw it up for the defense.
- 5:55Speaker 2: So I think that's, it's not just McIntyre. It's This
- 5:59Speaker 2: is how they're going to be successful. They need to
- 6:01Speaker 2: do this. They need to work the clock. They need
- 6:03Speaker 2: to give their defense a rest. They need to rely
- 6:06Speaker 2: on that defense, their special teams. That's the smart move
- 6:10Speaker 2: for this team. Oh, no doubt. It is.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I don't think it's just McIntyre is why they're doing it.
- 6:15Speaker 1: To me, I would lead with that, though, just because
- 6:17Speaker 1: it is his backup. I'm not trying to knock him
- 6:20Speaker 1: because he's been fine, but it is his backup young quarterback.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I think he's protecting the football. And look, Dinkin' Dunk
- 6:28Speaker 1: works with this offense.
- 6:30Speaker 2: It does. It's an extension of the run game.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I count those screens as just another run, putting the
- 6:36Speaker 1: ball in the hands of the talented receivers that have
- 6:38Speaker 1: some speed. Tennessee's got that, man. And they're getting yards
- 6:42Speaker 1: after catch. That's all great. But I think he does
- 6:46Speaker 1: need to slow it down a bit and process and
- 6:48Speaker 1: talk to his quarterback.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Yeah, look, I think he's doing– I don't think he's
- 6:53Speaker 2: done a bad job. I think he's doing what he
- 6:55Speaker 2: needs to with this offense. This is how I would
- 6:58Speaker 2: play it, too, if I were Josh Heupel, knowing what
- 7:00Speaker 2: you have and knowing that you've got the best workhorse
- 7:03Speaker 2: in the SEC in Deshaun Bishop, who gets better and
- 7:06Speaker 2: better as games go on. But I'll also say some
- 7:12Speaker 2: of these penalties you've got to start to avoid. All right,
- 7:16Speaker 2: let's go to history being made in this game. Tennessee
- 7:19Speaker 2: had three touchdown passes called off the board. That's never
- 7:22Speaker 2: happened in a loss for a team in college football history,
- 7:25Speaker 2: to have three touchdown passes negated. The first two were legit,
- 7:29Speaker 2: completely legit. It was a procedural issue. I don't know
- 7:32Speaker 2: why Braylon Staley's moving back a yard as the ball's
- 7:35Speaker 2: being snapped with Josh Heupel right there telling him not
- 7:38Speaker 2: to and talking to him. That negated the one penalty.
- 7:41Speaker 2: The other one was I think Deshaun Bishop was covered
- 7:43Speaker 2: up and ran a route, so it was an ineligible
- 7:45Speaker 2: man downfield, even though it had no bearing– on the
- 7:48Speaker 2: play because it was just a quick lob pass that
- 7:50Speaker 2: was perfect to Mike Matthews for a touchdown. That's unfortunate,
- 7:54Speaker 2: but that's Tennessee shooting themselves in the foot. The third one,
- 7:57Speaker 2: I think, is any holding call is subjective. You could
- 8:01Speaker 2: call holding a lot of times over the course of
- 8:03Speaker 2: a game. I thought it was a BS weak call.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Was it by definition a hold? Yes. Do I think
- 8:08Speaker 2: it affected the play? No. George McIntyre's getting hit on
- 8:11Speaker 2: the other side. Not by that guy as it's happening.
- 8:14Speaker 2: I don't think he's getting to George McIntyre as he
- 8:16Speaker 2: throws it regardless. It's a quick little hook of the
- 8:19Speaker 2: collar as an inside move is made and then a
- 8:22Speaker 2: release from David Sanders Jr. I thought it was a
- 8:24Speaker 2: BS call, and that's the one where George McIntyre's caught
- 8:27Speaker 2: on camera saying, Every bleep in time we throw a touchdown,
- 8:31Speaker 2: a flag is thrown. It was a great throw from McIntyre.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Great job by Braylon Staley, who's had a very tough
- 8:37Speaker 2: year for Tennessee, and I don't quite understand it. But
- 8:40Speaker 2: good job by him holding on in the end zone
- 8:43Speaker 2: after getting popped. Game's over with that touchdown. Tennessee's up
- 8:46Speaker 2: 11 points. The defense had not allowed a point in
- 8:49Speaker 2: the second half. for Tennessee at that point, I think
- 8:52Speaker 2: that probably puts the game away. Hutton, my issue with
- 8:55Speaker 2: this game is, and I called it. Look, I'm not
- 8:57Speaker 2: going to sit here and cry and say, you know, oh,
- 9:00Speaker 2: my gosh, this is totally unexpected. You picked this with
- 9:03Speaker 2: hard rock bet. Tennessee lost to Arkansas. I'd probably be
- 9:05Speaker 2: on here crying talking about how unexpected that was. I
- 9:09Speaker 2: said Vegas knows. I said South Carolina. This is so
- 9:13Speaker 2: predictable that Tennessee is going to go on the road.
- 9:15Speaker 2: They're going to let down South Carolina. had two weeks
- 9:19Speaker 2: to prepare, they're going to go in and win the game.
- 9:22Speaker 2: First off, the SEC has to figure out. They're getting
- 9:25Speaker 2: more and more like the NFL. Figure out how you
- 9:27Speaker 2: have such a bad discrepancy in off weeks. Clay Travis
- 9:31Speaker 2: wrote about this in his column, too. Tennessee should not
- 9:34Speaker 2: be playing their eighth straight game, then going on the
- 9:38Speaker 2: road against a team with two weeks to prepare. You
- 9:41Speaker 2: need to line it up where either two teams take
- 9:43Speaker 2: the week off at the same time before they play
- 9:45Speaker 2: each other, which you could do, and or don't have
- 9:49Speaker 2: it where one team is going on the road, the
- 9:50Speaker 2: other team is hosting a team that has run through
- 9:53Speaker 2: the gauntlet that many games in a row versus another
- 9:56Speaker 2: team playing the team that's rested.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Okay and you're catching you're catching South Carolina gaining momentum.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Gain momentum after that and look there's no way to
- 10:03Speaker 2: know that when you make the schedule you don't you
- 10:05Speaker 2: don't they were going to go to Florida that they
- 10:07Speaker 2: were going to go to Florida and blow them out
- 10:09Speaker 2: right you don't know that but you can prevent some
- 10:12Speaker 2: of those issues from happening.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Well, and now with the two bye weeks coming up,
- 10:15Speaker 1: they have to do that. Right. They are like the NFL,
- 10:20Speaker 1: but there are big discrepancies sometimes with the NFL as
- 10:22Speaker 1: well that are just hard to avoid based on how
- 10:25Speaker 1: they schedule everything.
- 10:26Speaker 2: But again, you can fix.
- 10:28Speaker 1: That with the rotating schedule that the SEC is making,
- 10:33Speaker 1: especially if everyone's going to play on the same week.
- 10:35Speaker 2: That's the other part of this. Well, so again... Tell
- 10:41Speaker 2: me if my math is off here, but you could
- 10:42Speaker 2: just have where you have two teams each week that
- 10:47Speaker 2: have a bye week. I know that would push some
- 10:49Speaker 2: bye weeks too early because then you're looking at an
- 10:52Speaker 2: eight-week rotation. So that's a long period of time where
- 10:55Speaker 2: teams want to take it more in the middle of
- 10:56Speaker 2: the season. So you're going to have some early bye
- 10:59Speaker 2: weeks and then some really late bye weeks. But my
- 11:01Speaker 2: point is, in an SEC league-heavy schedule, if you did
- 11:06Speaker 2: it at the same time, There's no issues with teams
- 11:10Speaker 2: complaining about it when they play each other. This was
- 11:14Speaker 2: the worst recipe for Tennessee that they could possibly have
- 11:17Speaker 2: of a team hosting them, having had the bye, and
- 11:20Speaker 2: them going eight straight weeks before getting the bye. And
- 11:23Speaker 2: now Tennessee and Kentucky, this is the way it should be.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Tennessee and Kentucky, both are off this week. So then
- 11:28Speaker 2: they come off the bye together, completely rested when they
- 11:31Speaker 2: play in two weeks in what we knew was going
- 11:33Speaker 2: to be a gigantic game, and it still is going
- 11:35Speaker 2: to be a gigantic game here in two weeks. But Hutton,
- 11:39Speaker 2: I just keep coming back to this. If South Carolina
- 11:42Speaker 2: goes on to blow out Tennessee, and Tennessee looks like
- 11:45Speaker 2: garbage the whole game, and Lenore Sellers looks like a
- 11:48Speaker 2: Heisman contender the whole game after going up 14-0, I
- 11:51Speaker 2: can explain that better. We could come in here and say, boy,
- 11:55Speaker 2: Tennessee crapped the bed, and South Carolina looked great. I
- 11:58Speaker 2: have a hard time wrapping my mind around how that
- 12:01Speaker 2: game was a little bit too predictable. From a Vegas
- 12:05Speaker 2: standpoint and from a David Smith Jr. standpoint. David Smith Jr.
- 12:11Speaker 2: is the lead official. David Smith Jr. is a former
- 12:15Speaker 2: Alabama quarterback. And it's gotten to the point of almost parody.
- 12:19Speaker 2: It's so comical how bad the officiating is for Tennessee
- 12:23Speaker 2: games in games that this guy is the lead official.
- 12:27Speaker 2: We've got some of the numbers up here. Now you
- 12:29Speaker 2: could say, look, going back 12 years, 11 years, Tennessee
- 12:32Speaker 2: was bad. in some of these years, of course they
- 12:35Speaker 2: lost big, or of course they had more penalties in
- 12:39Speaker 2: the opposition. The holding calls is what kills me. Procedural stuff,
- 12:44Speaker 2: I'm not going to go back and look at every, oh,
- 12:46Speaker 2: did he false start or not? I'm not going to
- 12:48Speaker 2: look at that. You cannot tell me that Tennessee holds
- 12:54Speaker 2: this much more than the opponent. in every game that
- 12:57Speaker 2: David Smith Jr. calls. And you would say, okay, maybe
- 13:00Speaker 2: this guy just calls more holds than anyone else. Look
- 13:03Speaker 2: at the average versus every other team he officiates. And
- 13:06Speaker 2: this is 12 games? Yeah, it's almost like he's taking
- 13:09Speaker 2: joy in screwing over Tennessee at this point. And I
- 13:12Speaker 2: am not some tinfoil hat conspiracy theorist guy. But it
- 13:16Speaker 2: gets to the point when you hear his name, if
- 13:19Speaker 2: you are a Tennessee fan... You already know the outcome.
- 13:22Speaker 2: And when it's that predictable, when I can come on
- 13:25Speaker 2: here and tell you exactly what's going to happen in
- 13:27Speaker 2: this game, when it started to go south late for Tennessee,
- 13:31Speaker 2: and you can say this is exactly what was always
- 13:33Speaker 2: going to happen, that is not a good thing for
- 13:35Speaker 2: the sport. Because the moment there is a whiff of
- 13:38Speaker 2: impropriety in any sport is the moment that it goes downhill.
- 13:42Speaker 2: And I'm here to tell you that I'm not saying
- 13:44Speaker 2: this guy's on the take. I'm not saying that Vegas
- 13:47Speaker 2: had something to do with this. I am telling you
- 13:50Speaker 2: that I think this guy, with every fiber in his being,
- 13:54Speaker 2: hates the University of Tennessee's football program. Absolutely hates it.
- 13:58Speaker 2: He sees all the stuff that I'm going to say online,
- 14:01Speaker 2: just like Shane Beamer sees everything. We're going to get
- 14:03Speaker 2: into that if it's ever said online. This dude sees
- 14:06Speaker 2: everything Tennessee fans have ever said about him, and instead
- 14:10Speaker 2: of picking one day and one game to, I don't know,
- 14:14Speaker 2: go the other way and call the personal foul late
- 14:17Speaker 2: hit on South Carolina that would have knocked him out
- 14:20Speaker 2: of field goal range on that last play, or to
- 14:22Speaker 2: call the hold on the run by Blenora Sellers that
- 14:27Speaker 2: would have knocked him back also. He picks the day
- 14:29Speaker 2: that Tennessee plays for his crew to throw a flag
- 14:32Speaker 2: on Rodarius Jackson that was complete B.S., on that final drive.
- 14:37Speaker 2: To throw the flag on David Sanders, that's complete BS.
- 14:40Speaker 2: To not throw a pass interference because you claim the
- 14:44Speaker 2: ball was tipped on what would have been a touchdown drive.
- 14:47Speaker 2: The drive that ended in a field goal where Tennessee
- 14:50Speaker 2: goes up seven, they go up 11 likely if you
- 14:53Speaker 2: call the pass interference. Hutton, I'm tired of it. I'm
- 14:58Speaker 2: just a fan. I am someone who does this for
- 15:00Speaker 2: a living and talking about these games, but I'm also
- 15:03Speaker 2: a Tennessee grad. There's nothing I can do about it
- 15:05Speaker 2: but bitch. And everybody's going to sit here and say, hey, cope, whine,
- 15:09Speaker 2: bitch away, all that, great. You can claim that all
- 15:12Speaker 2: you want. If I'm the University of Tennessee, I am
- 15:15Speaker 2: going to the SEC office. I'm submitting all of these
- 15:18Speaker 2: plays to them, and I am saying, and I'm glad
- 15:21Speaker 2: Josh Heupel's not complaining outwardly. in his press conference, because
- 15:25Speaker 2: trust me, there are a million things Tennessee could have done,
- 15:27Speaker 2: and we're going to get into it, to win that
- 15:29Speaker 2: game that they had total control over. But if I'm
- 15:32Speaker 2: somebody that's a Danny White or one of his deputies
- 15:35Speaker 2: that's in charge of this, I am going to the
- 15:37Speaker 2: league office and saying, this dude can't ref any more
- 15:39Speaker 2: of our games. All right? What's done is done. What's
- 15:42Speaker 2: in the past is the past. We refuse to play
- 15:45Speaker 2: a game with David Smith Jr. as the lead official
- 15:48Speaker 2: from here on out because it has gotten old, it
- 15:51Speaker 2: has gotten tired, and Hutton, a word I'll go back
- 15:53Speaker 2: to again, it's gotten way too predictable about what's going
- 15:57Speaker 2: to happen. What I want.
- 15:59Speaker 1: To know with this record, because the record, I mean,
- 16:02Speaker 1: it's atrocious whenever this guy is the lead official. Is
- 16:06Speaker 1: this going back to like the Butch Jones, Derek Dooley
- 16:09Speaker 1: era with this record? Because those, I mean, Correct me
- 16:14Speaker 1: if I'm wrong, but those teams were not nearly as
- 16:18Speaker 1: talented and probably did commit several of these penalties.
- 16:21Speaker 2: That's number one.
- 16:22Speaker 1: And I would also want to know with this record,
- 16:25Speaker 1: who are the opponents where he's the lead official?
- 16:27Speaker 2: Is this Florida? Is this Bama?
- 16:29Speaker 1: Or is this Kentucky, South Carolina, Vanderbilt? That would also
- 16:33Speaker 1: stand out to me. if I saw the spread.
- 16:36Speaker 2: I mean, can he call a Bama game? I doubt it.
- 16:40Speaker 2: I don't think he can as a former Bama quarterback.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Yeah, but like any of the Ole Miss, any of
- 16:48Speaker 1: these games, Missouri comes to mind on the road a
- 16:50Speaker 1: couple years back. And how many of those prior to
- 16:54Speaker 1: 2022 to when Eiffel took over and they've been on
- 16:59Speaker 1: this run.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:01Speaker 1: That would factor into my opinion on this. Cause I
- 17:03Speaker 1: don't know the games and how long he's been in
- 17:06Speaker 1: that position, but the, I mean, look, the, the, the
- 17:09Speaker 1: holding penalties are, I mean, that stands out first. And
- 17:13Speaker 1: then on the defensive side, it's pass interference, which wouldn't
- 17:16Speaker 1: be him, but it would be his crew.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Yeah. That's, that's also way lopsided, but I.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Want to know who the, what, what, who's, who's on
- 17:25Speaker 1: the field because this Tennessee team is way more different
- 17:29Speaker 1: than a team from a decade ago.
- 17:32Speaker 2: No, I totally agree. And look, yes, some of those
- 17:36Speaker 2: games go back to Jeremy Pruitt, and there are some
- 17:39Speaker 2: bad Tennessee teams mixed in there where they were going
- 17:41Speaker 2: to lose regardless. And I'm not saying that David Smith Jr.
- 17:43Speaker 2: has cost Tennessee every game he's ever officiated. I'm saying
- 17:46Speaker 2: that it's a recurring problem in games that he is
- 17:49Speaker 2: the official where the penalty discrepancy, even in years where
- 17:52Speaker 2: Tennessee was not an overly– penalized team, suddenly flip-flops to
- 17:57Speaker 2: Tennessee has way more penalties than the opposition, way more
- 18:00Speaker 2: holding calls than the opposition, which is a subjective one that,
- 18:05Speaker 2: you know, and people are going to come back and say, well,
- 18:07Speaker 2: stop holding. I'm like, everybody's holding. Like, you have to weigh,
- 18:11Speaker 2: is it an egregious hold? Did you stop a sack
- 18:14Speaker 2: from happening? Was it a takedown? Did you hold on
- 18:17Speaker 2: the outside, allowing a guy to get a 20, 30-yard gain? Like,
- 18:20Speaker 2: these are the things you can see clearly on television
- 18:22Speaker 2: that To me, when you can see it clearly on TV,
- 18:24Speaker 2: that's when you throw the flag on holding. When you're
- 18:26Speaker 2: watching the game and say, that's a hold on the outside,
- 18:28Speaker 2: the defender couldn't turn around, and the guy went around
- 18:31Speaker 2: him for a big gain on it. That's where you
- 18:33Speaker 2: throw the flag. Look, I thought of the three that
- 18:37Speaker 2: were called back, the touchdowns called back, I just really
- 18:40Speaker 2: thought the last one was the one, and that's where
- 18:42Speaker 2: George McIntyre, who never shows emotion, showed emotion on it.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I thought that was the one that was the most
- 18:47Speaker 2: egregious one. And I think that Tennessee has, I think
- 18:50Speaker 2: David Smith Jr., the white hat, has an issue with
- 18:54Speaker 2: Tennessee football. I truly believe that if you gave this
- 18:57Speaker 2: guy truth serum, he would tell you how much he
- 18:59Speaker 2: hates the Vols. Going back to his time in Alabama,
- 19:02Speaker 2: going back to how fans have likely treated him poorly
- 19:06Speaker 2: because of the outcomes of these games, he has got
- 19:09Speaker 2: animosity towards Tennessee and wants to see them lose. That's
- 19:12Speaker 2: a problem when you go into that with an officiating crew.
- 19:15Speaker 2: That's why if I'm Tennessee, I'm doing whatever I can
- 19:18Speaker 2: to say, give us any other crew. Every week. Any
- 19:21Speaker 2: other crew.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Well, you would want the crew from the Alabama game.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Because they were not penalized harsh in that game.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm sure Tennessee's like, hey, give us that crew
- 19:32Speaker 2: from the Alabama game. You know, if they did. But look,
- 19:34Speaker 2: Tennessee also, of course, shot themselves in the foot. The
- 19:38Speaker 2: penalties were a problem. Coming out of the timeout, not
- 19:40Speaker 2: having to play ready. Those things. They're a yard away
- 19:43Speaker 2: from icing the game. Yes. And I am still fascinated
- 19:47Speaker 2: by what exactly happened that play. I saw a coach's break.
- 19:50Speaker 2: of it that said it's very clear that the play
- 19:53Speaker 2: call is what they said postgame, which was the same
- 19:56Speaker 2: touchdown to DeSan Brame, where they give it to the fullback,
- 19:59Speaker 2: which was Brame at the tight end, who lines up
- 20:02Speaker 2: as the up bat in the middle of the power
- 20:04Speaker 2: tee formation. The play is to give it to him.
- 20:06Speaker 2: He's looking for it. And McIntyre never even had it
- 20:09Speaker 2: in his hands to hand it off. Javon Gordon, which
- 20:12Speaker 2: I was saying live, pitch it to him because they're
- 20:15Speaker 2: going to get an easy first down if they pitch it.
- 20:17Speaker 2: He had no look to even get the ball. It
- 20:18Speaker 2: was a total fake. It's as if George McIntyre was
- 20:22Speaker 2: in such a hurry to carry out the fake on
- 20:25Speaker 2: the pitch going right that he forgot to give the
- 20:28Speaker 2: ball to DeSombre. And that is a mental lapse that
- 20:32Speaker 2: is inexcusable. And look, this is what you get with
- 20:37Speaker 2: a young quarterback. I mean, we'll go back to it.
- 20:41Speaker 2: We can go back to the preseason talking about this
- 20:43Speaker 2: Tennessee team and Vandy the same way. It's a big
- 20:46Speaker 2: risk in 2026 college football not having a guy with
- 20:49Speaker 2: four or five years experience as your quarterback. When you
- 20:52Speaker 2: go into a brand new quarterback, there are a lot
- 20:55Speaker 2: of variables that go with that. That variable costs Tennessee
- 20:59Speaker 2: in the inexperience and a young quarterback just having a
- 21:03Speaker 2: mental lapse in the worst possible time because DeSan Brame
- 21:06Speaker 2: is picking up three or four yards on that fourth
- 21:08Speaker 2: and one with the hole that was opened up in
- 21:10Speaker 2: the middle of that defense on that play. If you
- 21:12Speaker 2: watch where he follows the center into that gap and
- 21:15Speaker 2: would have gotten a first down. Instead, George McIntyre falls
- 21:18Speaker 2: down for a two-yard loss. Saktorani goes on to score.
- 21:21Speaker 2: The rest is history. Tennessee loses that game. It cost
- 21:24Speaker 2: them dearly. And they only have themselves to blame on
- 21:27Speaker 2: that one. They had the right play call in. George
- 21:30Speaker 2: McIntyre just didn't execute it. And I want to know
- 21:33Speaker 2: what the miscommunication was, what the confusion was, or what happened.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Josh Haber just said there were some missteps by George.
- 21:41Speaker 2: And to me, I'm buying the old coach's breakdown of
- 21:44Speaker 2: it that says he just forgot to hand the ball off.
- 21:48Speaker 2: It's almost like he realizes as he starts to go,
- 21:51Speaker 2: I still have the ball in my hands. What did
- 21:53Speaker 2: I do? And then just sort of falls down on
- 21:56Speaker 2: fourth down after that. It was bad.
- 21:58Speaker 1: And South Carolina, with the players who came back to
- 22:00Speaker 1: play for Beamer, ended up making big plays in this game.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Dylan Stewart on the final play with the pass rush.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Things like that also popped up throughout this game. And
- 22:11Speaker 1: we're going to talk Shane Beamer coming up. Chaos in
- 22:13Speaker 1: Columbia as well, post-game. A lot to discuss with the Gamecocks,
- 22:18Speaker 1: the Vols, and across the SEC. It's all straight ahead.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Here on Honey With Row, it's Ford and State.
- 22:23Speaker 3: This year, the party's getting even bigger.

- 23:54Speaker 1: Share the show. We want to grow the channel. YouTube
- 23:57Speaker 1: at Hutton and Withrow. Chad, we both agreed last week,
- 24:02Speaker 1: like if Shane Beamer got this game, he was safe
- 24:05Speaker 1: because he already has the game in Florida. And the
- 24:08Speaker 1: way they played after the way they were playing, I
- 24:11Speaker 1: think spoke volumes. I did not expect them to win
- 24:13Speaker 1: at Florida based on the back-to-back losses and how they
- 24:15Speaker 1: lost and giving up. 17 point lead against Kentucky, things
- 24:18Speaker 1: like that. And now they're gaining momentum. The players who
- 24:23Speaker 1: he was counting on and who counted on him are
- 24:26Speaker 1: starting to lock in. I mean, they're not a bad
- 24:29Speaker 1: team at all. The question would be, can they keep
- 24:32Speaker 1: this momentum going down the stretch?
- 24:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it feels like a team that's just now playing
- 24:36Speaker 2: loose and kind of with house money. Once they got
- 24:39Speaker 2: three losses, it's like, all right, now we don't have
- 24:43Speaker 2: to worry about that pesky playoff much anymore. So let's
- 24:46Speaker 2: just go ahead and start playing with house money. And
- 24:48Speaker 2: this is the team. This is the high end of
- 24:51Speaker 2: that South Carolina team that we expected to see in
- 24:53Speaker 2: the preseason. If they were going to have everything come together,
- 24:56Speaker 2: because they do have great talent at the top, some
- 24:58Speaker 2: of the best in the SEC. And now they're playing
- 25:01Speaker 2: that way. Yeah. And you know what?
- 25:03Speaker 1: This is the team that gave him the benefit of
- 25:04Speaker 1: the doubt to keep his job last year.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. you know, with the four-win season. And he's been.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Very upfront and honest about everything. But this is the
- 25:13Speaker 1: team that he felt like would keep his job instead
- 25:16Speaker 1: of him bolting for like Virginia.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Tech or somewhere. Yeah. And this is the Shane Beamer, though,
- 25:20Speaker 2: that really irritates, I think, a lot of people. And
- 25:23Speaker 2: I think it irritates a lot of South Carolina fans also,
- 25:25Speaker 2: because instead of just celebrating a big win over Tennessee,
- 25:29Speaker 2: this is a laser-eared Shane Beamer postgame where coaches love
- 25:35Speaker 2: to talk about how they don't pay attention to outside
- 25:37Speaker 2: noise and they don't want their team to pay any
- 25:39Speaker 2: attention to outside noise. Here's Shane Beamer reacting. Again, this
- 25:42Speaker 2: is reacting to a win in 2026. And here's what
- 25:46Speaker 2: Shane Beamer had to say postgame. I think he used
- 25:49Speaker 2: their last timeout. The scoreboard was wrong. It said they
- 25:51Speaker 2: had one left. They didn't have a timeout. So, come on, guys.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Maybe that's the conspiracy theory.
- 25:57Speaker 1: He made the kick because they thought they had a
- 26:00Speaker 1: timeout and they didn't.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Maybe that's what they're going to say. Well, look, there's
- 26:08Speaker 2: a longer clip there where he's talking about 2022. Yes.
- 26:11Speaker 2: And he goes back to, you know, I don't want
- 26:14Speaker 2: to hear about, you know, what we did last time
- 26:16Speaker 2: in 2022. Here's the rumor that they did last time
- 26:18Speaker 2: in 2022. There's a lot of ties with Connor Stallions
- 26:22Speaker 2: to South Carolina and that Connor Stallions tipped off South Carolina,
- 26:25Speaker 2: who wore armbands for the first time that year on
- 26:28Speaker 2: defense in that game and miraculously shut down Tennessee on
- 26:32Speaker 2: offense throughout the night where Tennessee was roasting Tennessee. SEC
- 26:36Speaker 2: opposition throughout the year. I have long forgotten about it.
- 26:40Speaker 2: I've dismissed it. Tennessee played bad that night. Hendon Hooker
- 26:42Speaker 2: got hurt. Yeah, that's how I remember the game. South
- 26:45Speaker 2: Carolina played great. There's a lot of reasons Tennessee lost.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I have long forgotten and dismissed it. Clearly, Shane Beamer
- 26:52Speaker 2: has not forgotten it. And when you get that defensive
- 26:55Speaker 2: about this, and you are talking about this years after
- 26:59Speaker 2: the fact, Hutton, it makes me believe more that you
- 27:02Speaker 2: are guilty of what Tennessee fans are accusing you of.
- 27:05Speaker 2: And I'm sorry, Shane, but it's not some leap of
- 27:08Speaker 2: judgment or leap of logic to say that a guy
- 27:12Speaker 2: in you who was fined and suspended in 2016 for
- 27:18Speaker 2: taking illegal information during the Wakey Gates issue with the
- 27:22Speaker 2: Wake Forest guy, and you were one of the ones
- 27:24Speaker 2: who were caught and didn't report it to your school
- 27:27Speaker 2: at the time and got fined. Oh man, why would
- 27:31Speaker 2: Tennessee fans think that maybe six years later you could
- 27:34Speaker 2: have accomplished the same thing or done the same thing
- 27:36Speaker 2: if you were given information from Connor Stallions in Michigan?
- 27:40Speaker 2: Shane Beamer seems like a decent enough guy. Seems like
- 27:43Speaker 2: a good guy. He was caught cheating and fined. for
- 27:48Speaker 2: something very similar before. And Tennessee fans thought, oh, hey,
- 27:51Speaker 2: look how good their defense suddenly looks. Maybe he cheated
- 27:54Speaker 2: again with the armbands. Not a complete leap in logic
- 27:58Speaker 2: that Tennessee fans would think that. But to bring this
- 28:01Speaker 2: back up after this game, this has me asking the question.
- 28:05Speaker 2: I'm not asking the question anymore. Shane Beamer's safe. They
- 28:08Speaker 2: didn't want to pay him the buyout anyways. But is
- 28:10Speaker 2: that really what's good for South Carolina football? He is
- 28:13Speaker 2: winning this game. It's great in the short term. You
- 28:16Speaker 2: should enjoy it if you're a South Carolina fan. Absolutely.
- 28:19Speaker 2: I'm not saying don't. Celebrate it. But is this what's
- 28:23Speaker 2: good for the long-term health of South Carolina football? When
- 28:26Speaker 2: I watch that press conference in its totality, I start
- 28:29Speaker 2: to ask myself that question.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Well, I mean, first off, to me, I'm trying to
- 28:35Speaker 1: put myself in that situation. He's probably being asked questions
- 28:39Speaker 1: about something from guys who have been asking him about
- 28:42Speaker 1: that deal back in 2022 with Stallion's. and is expecting
- 28:48Speaker 1: something there. I doubt he's having that on his mind
- 28:52Speaker 1: this far outside of that moment or that season. But
- 29:01Speaker 1: maybe he is. When he joins us on SEC Media
- 29:06Speaker 1: Days each year, he doesn't come across as someone who
- 29:09Speaker 1: tells us that he doesn't read the clips. I think
- 29:12Speaker 1: he's one of the few who does. And I think
- 29:15Speaker 1: that's good for us and good for college football. I
- 29:21Speaker 1: think he's honest with interviews, especially when it comes to accountability.
- 29:27Speaker 1: And I think it's good for South Carolina because the
- 29:30Speaker 1: guy can recruit. He clearly can recruit to South Carolina.
- 29:33Speaker 1: And he's keeping his own players there. I think that's
- 29:36Speaker 1: good for college football. Now, does he continue? to do
- 29:40Speaker 1: that whenever these guys go to the league?
- 29:42Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 29:44Speaker 1: But Chad, I think in this day and age, he's
- 29:47Speaker 1: not going to keep his job there very long. It's
- 29:49Speaker 1: tough to win, period, in the SEC. We're going to
- 29:51Speaker 1: get to that. But at South Carolina, it's extremely hard
- 29:56Speaker 1: to reach the expectations of that everyone has it every
- 29:59Speaker 1: single program. So is it good or bad? Ultimately, I
- 30:04Speaker 1: think they're paying the buyout anyway. I don't think they're
- 30:06Speaker 1: giving an extension this offseason. I don't see that happening
- 30:09Speaker 1: unless they're winning out. That would certainly surprise and be
- 30:12Speaker 1: worthy of something like that. But for a program that
- 30:17Speaker 1: doesn't have the cash flow or whatever they were talking
- 30:20Speaker 1: about to pay the buyout or doesn't really want to
- 30:22Speaker 1: dig into the pockets of donors, it's a bad sign
- 30:26Speaker 1: either way.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I mean, who are you going to hire? if you
- 30:28Speaker 2: fire him?
- 30:29Speaker 1: I mean, to me, that speaks volumes that you don't
- 30:31Speaker 1: want to pay the buyout to begin with.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Yeah. And I think that's the question you're going to
- 30:35Speaker 2: ask in a lot of places now, you know, we got,
- 30:37Speaker 2: we got new job openings now, NC state Baylor, both open.
- 30:40Speaker 2: So Maryland, NC state Baylor have come open. Can he
- 30:46Speaker 2: do well enough to leave on his own court? You know,
- 30:49Speaker 2: as Shane Beamer, there was a lot of talk about
- 30:51Speaker 2: Virginia tech. Is he the type of guy who would say, look,
- 30:53Speaker 2: I see the writing on the wall. I know my
- 30:56Speaker 2: fan base isn't thrilled. I was about to get fired mid-season.
- 30:59Speaker 2: I mean, clearly the dude knows how to hold a grudge, right?
- 31:02Speaker 2: We've seen that time and time again. So does he
- 31:05Speaker 2: hold a grudge with his own fan base that wanted
- 31:08Speaker 2: him fired after they lost their first three games? Does
- 31:11Speaker 2: he have that chip on his shoulder to say, if
- 31:14Speaker 2: NC State makes me a good enough offer, I'll leave
- 31:16Speaker 2: for that job? Can they play well enough the rest
- 31:19Speaker 2: of the way and win enough games to where I mean,
- 31:21Speaker 2: what if they went out and they're 9-3? That's what
- 31:23Speaker 2: I'm saying. And they're looking at a possible playoff berth
- 31:25Speaker 2: as a three-loss SEC team. Then he could write his
- 31:28Speaker 2: own checks. That's great. For what's to come for Shane Beamer.
- 31:34Speaker 1: You're right. A lot of programs are going to have
- 31:36Speaker 1: to debate and decide. Can we afford as a program
- 31:40Speaker 1: to pay this lofty buyout? Or can we afford to
- 31:42Speaker 1: keep the guy? and see the program continue with him
- 31:52Speaker 1: at the head of the program. I think in South
- 31:55Speaker 1: Carolina's case, yes. Yes, they can afford to keep him
- 31:59Speaker 1: in that spot.
- 32:00Speaker 2: I just think it's a tough job. It's not gotten
- 32:03Speaker 2: any easier. I don't think it's gotten any harder either
- 32:06Speaker 2: with NIL and everything. I think it's about where it was.
- 32:09Speaker 2: It's not a bad job, but in the SEC it's
- 32:12Speaker 2: one of the tougher ones because the fan expectation I
- 32:15Speaker 2: think is higher than than what the outside college football
- 32:18Speaker 2: world would expect from the South Carolina program. But, I mean,
- 32:22Speaker 2: look at all– and we're going to get into all
- 32:24Speaker 2: the two lost teams, and we're going to try to
- 32:26Speaker 2: rank them at some point this week too, and it's
- 32:28Speaker 2: so difficult to do. And then you throw in that,
- 32:31Speaker 2: that every year with a nine-game conference schedule, there's just
- 32:34Speaker 2: naturally going to be– everybody's going to have a really
- 32:36Speaker 2: tough schedule. But then you're going to have years like
- 32:39Speaker 2: you're going to have Texas' schedule this year that looks impossible.
- 32:42Speaker 2: When you look at their schedule, Alabama's schedule looks impossible
- 32:46Speaker 2: with some of the road games that they have. And
- 32:49Speaker 2: so even if you're at a job like a Texas
- 32:51Speaker 2: or Alabama, it's not like you're rolling into the season saying, boy,
- 32:55Speaker 2: here's 10 guaranteed wins like you would with Notre Dame
- 32:59Speaker 2: and thinking this is going to be an easy year.
- 33:00Speaker 2: We've got a few weeks off here in the middle.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Every week, this is a week-to-week season. There is nothing
- 33:06Speaker 2: more true about the SEC this year than it is
- 33:10Speaker 2: a week-to-week to week story. And what happened the previous
- 33:14Speaker 2: week has no bearing on the next week. And there's
- 33:17Speaker 2: no real momentum from week to week because everybody can
- 33:21Speaker 2: be everybody. Does an SEC like that benefit Shane Beamer
- 33:24Speaker 2: at South Carolina or hurt Shane Beamer at South Carolina?
- 33:27Speaker 2: I think it's a little bit of both. But I
- 33:30Speaker 2: watched that entire press conference, Hutton, the other night, and
- 33:32Speaker 2: I think this is what media people love about Beamer,
- 33:36Speaker 2: is that he can hold a grudge, he can give
- 33:37Speaker 2: you a soundbite, he's going to talk about a fan
- 33:40Speaker 2: base from four years ago. And this is what I
- 33:42Speaker 2: would hate if I'm a South Carolina fan, because you
- 33:45Speaker 2: see some of the problems within the program and you think,
- 33:48Speaker 2: this dude is so concerned. about fans and what they
- 33:51Speaker 2: said from a big win from four years ago and
- 33:55Speaker 2: not highlighting and not focusing on the things that matter
- 33:58Speaker 2: right now. And that is talking about this team and
- 34:01Speaker 2: how they overcame a tough start to this season. And
- 34:04Speaker 2: they're completely back on track now. They win at Florida.
- 34:07Speaker 2: They blow them out. They find a way, and Tennessee
- 34:10Speaker 2: finds a way to help them. I think this game
- 34:12Speaker 2: was as much Tennessee lost it as much as South
- 34:15Speaker 2: Carolina won it. But give them credit. When they got
- 34:17Speaker 2: the fumble or they got the fourth down stop, they
- 34:20Speaker 2: went down and they made it happen. But I would
- 34:23Speaker 2: have big questions if I'm a South Carolina fan.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Well, they can afford to keep him, Chad, because of
- 34:28Speaker 1: the 2014 playoff coming up.
- 34:31Speaker 2: You know, the.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Expectations now broaden. the horizon of teams like South Carolina,
- 34:37Speaker 1: where if you go 9-3, you're getting in. And can
- 34:41Speaker 1: you make the case for 4? I mean, again, the
- 34:44Speaker 1: schedule itself, where everyone's going to beat up on everyone,
- 34:48Speaker 1: South Carolina in those moments are going to be on
- 34:49Speaker 1: the outside looking in, just because of the program and
- 34:54Speaker 1: how we view Alabama versus Vanderbilt, for instance, and trying
- 35:00Speaker 1: to decide who gets in the 12th. But you know
- 35:02Speaker 1: what I'm saying. The expectations now fit the job moving forward.
- 35:08Speaker 1: No longer does it get into 12. It's getting into 24. Again,
- 35:12Speaker 1: can you afford to keep him?
- 35:13Speaker 2: Yes.
- 35:15Speaker 1: To continue on what he's doing. I wouldn't extend him.
- 35:18Speaker 1: I wouldn't extend him. Because again, the job is tough.
- 35:22Speaker 1: It does get a bit easier to meet expectations now.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Or it should for every coach. Because if you don't
- 35:28Speaker 1: get into the SEC... It's a down year. It's a
- 35:32Speaker 1: failure for many of these teams. But every fan base
- 35:36Speaker 1: has the expectation to get in.
- 35:38Speaker 2: And every coach is going to take L's. Yes. That's
- 35:42Speaker 2: the thing, too, that this new world, fans have to
- 35:45Speaker 2: warm up to the fact that it is not going
- 35:47Speaker 2: to be pretty over the course of this nine-game SEC schedule.
- 35:51Speaker 2: You are going to take L's along the way. And
- 35:53Speaker 2: it's all about the ultimate goal is to make the
- 35:55Speaker 2: college football playoff. Which, by the way, I'll go back to,
- 35:59Speaker 2: the 2014 playoff is going to help with a lot
- 36:04Speaker 2: of this, especially for the SEC. It is a benefit.
- 36:06Speaker 2: And I don't think that a 2014 playoff is going
- 36:10Speaker 2: to take away from people watching Tennessee-Alabama or watching BYU
- 36:14Speaker 2: go down this past weekend or whatever the game is
- 36:17Speaker 2: because it's just going to keep more people. Now South
- 36:20Speaker 2: Carolina is completely safe for a 2014 playoff a year
- 36:23Speaker 2: from now if they're playing out. They're right there in
- 36:25Speaker 2: the mix. And those fans are thinking, boy, let's root
- 36:28Speaker 2: our guy on and see what Beamer does. And if
- 36:30Speaker 2: he can make that playoff, then it's a successful season.
- 36:33Speaker 2: I just think it adds more intrigue and drama for
- 36:36Speaker 2: more programs over the course of the long season. Let's
- 36:39Speaker 2: see how it looks when it actually happens. I'm withholding
- 36:42Speaker 2: judgment on that. But I do think that a lot
- 36:44Speaker 2: of these things are proving that this is not going
- 36:47Speaker 2: to be the worst thing in the world for college football,
- 36:49Speaker 2: the way many predict when you get to that 2014 playoffs.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Hey, look, his contract expires in 2030. currently according to
- 36:57Speaker 1: google and he it goes up to 8.6 million in
- 37:03Speaker 1: salary in 2030 so look it's not it's not detrimental
- 37:07Speaker 1: to the program and he's doing a decent job uh
- 37:11Speaker 1: he's coming off of a down year but the expectations
- 37:14Speaker 1: are there because he what he has done and again
- 37:16Speaker 1: i like it for college football because the players stayed
- 37:19Speaker 1: i think that speaks to uh to him as a
- 37:22Speaker 1: coach and what they want and who they want to
- 37:24Speaker 1: play for. And I don't know them individually. I don't
- 37:27Speaker 1: know their personalities or who they are as individuals. I
- 37:30Speaker 1: just know their talent level. Those dudes could have gotten
- 37:33Speaker 1: a boatload of money. Just a quarterback, defensive end, wherever
- 37:37Speaker 1: you want to put it. Texas Tech is paying.
- 37:39Speaker 2: I know that.
- 37:41Speaker 1: There are a lot of players who can hit the market.
- 37:44Speaker 1: These guys chose to come back and came back with
- 37:47Speaker 1: him who also chose to stay. I think it's a
- 37:50Speaker 1: no-brainer to keep him.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Keep them around. Well, and we're seeing it at A &
- 37:53Speaker 2: M this year. Just paying your roster a ton of money.
- 37:57Speaker 2: We saw that with Jimbo Fisher, who also paid his
- 37:59Speaker 2: roster a ton of money. We're seeing that now that
- 38:02Speaker 2: it doesn't guarantee anything. I mean, it's all about matching
- 38:06Speaker 2: guys up in the right roster fits and then timing
- 38:09Speaker 2: it up with a schedule that's going to give you
- 38:12Speaker 2: a chance to do some things. But, I mean, there's
- 38:15Speaker 2: just so many opportunities for huge wins here. That's also
- 38:19Speaker 2: what we're realizing. Shane Beamer was dead, dead in the water.
- 38:24Speaker 2: I mean, he is getting into it with his star
- 38:26Speaker 2: defensive end, getting blown out in Tuscaloosa. He's having to
- 38:30Speaker 2: talk about how great their practices were during the week.
- 38:33Speaker 2: He's losing to Kentucky at home on a two-point conversion
- 38:36Speaker 2: from Will Stein. He's getting booed off the field. After
- 38:39Speaker 2: leading by 17. And he goes on the road and
- 38:42Speaker 2: just destroys Florida.
- 38:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:44Speaker 2: And then he gets a week off to get healthier.
- 38:46Speaker 2: And he comes back and miraculously steals one against Tennessee.
- 38:50Speaker 2: And now he's talking his talk post-game. It's crazy how
- 38:56Speaker 2: quickly things can change in this league.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Chad, what hasn't changed are the Tennessee Titans. They continue
- 39:03Speaker 1: to falter. They're setting records, not for the good, but
- 39:07Speaker 1: for the bad. And Cam Ward's at the top of
- 39:09Speaker 1: the list in terms of losses. And they continue to mount.

- 40:17Speaker 2: put up with Kelly and Ariel, you'll enjoy the hour.
- 40:20Speaker 1: They're great at what they do. They give you insights,
- 40:22Speaker 1: break down the lines, market movement, all that. Where's the
- 40:25Speaker 1: sharp money landing? I'm sure Kelly will tell you to
- 40:28Speaker 1: fade anybody else that's on.
- 40:30Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Kelly was big on fading Hutton in our
- 40:33Speaker 2: group text on that Vandy Kentucky game. And I'm thinking,
- 40:37Speaker 2: is it the 10-point home loss that really got you
- 40:40Speaker 2: excited about Vandy going on the road to Kentucky? And
- 40:42Speaker 2: Kelly said in her charts and numbers and everything. And
- 40:45Speaker 2: of course, she took a big old L on that one.
- 40:48Speaker 2: She's helped me out during the NCAA tournament, so every
- 40:51Speaker 2: now and then I'll follow her. That's great. I know
- 40:53Speaker 2: right now she took a big old L on that
- 40:55Speaker 2: one and took a big old W on that one. Yeah,
- 40:57Speaker 2: we did. Yeah, we did. Meanwhile, JT just continues to
- 41:01Speaker 2: completely sink every parlay that we throw out week after week.
- 41:07Speaker 2: So JT doesn't do a lock. I think just the
- 41:10Speaker 2: explanation to JT is, JT, just make it your lock.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Don't think of it as a parlay that's going to hit.
- 41:16Speaker 2: This is your one chance to shine each week. So
- 41:19Speaker 2: this has got to be your top priority of research
- 41:22Speaker 2: that you're going to put in to this show every week.
- 41:25Speaker 2: and just make a vow to yourself, I am going
- 41:28Speaker 2: to make this happen this week. I'm not just going
- 41:30Speaker 2: to throw something out there in the group chat. I'm
- 41:32Speaker 2: going to do my research. I'm not going to listen
- 41:34Speaker 2: to Todd Furman or anybody else. I'm going to listen
- 41:36Speaker 2: to my heart, and I'm going to give a winner
- 41:38Speaker 2: this week. JT, can you vow to do this, please?
- 41:40Speaker 2: Your thoughts. Guys, I promise I have been. I just
- 41:44Speaker 2: want you to know one thing. Much like Cam, I ask.
- 41:49Speaker 2: I'm not good at this, okay? Thank you. Yes, yes.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Thank you, JT. JT. It's going to happen. It's going
- 41:58Speaker 2: to come together. I've got faith in our guy, JT.
- 42:00Speaker 2: He's going to make it happen. This is the week
- 42:03Speaker 2: hunting that I will sink the three-leg parlay. No. Not JT.
- 42:06Speaker 1: There will be two out of three, and I'll be
- 42:08Speaker 1: the one losing. Look, we just need to hit one
- 42:10Speaker 1: or two. We're back to the positive side of things.
- 42:14Speaker 1: We're good to go, Chad. Not good is Cam Ward.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Not good is Brian Dable. And while we watched the
- 42:23Speaker 1: offense put up points, the run game got going. Chad,
- 42:25Speaker 1: if you tell me that Tony Pollard's carried the ball
- 42:28Speaker 1: 25 times for 130 yards and he's scoring three touchdowns,
- 42:33Speaker 1: the Titans got to win that game.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Yes.
- 42:35Speaker 1: They have to win that game. That's their game. Run game,
- 42:39Speaker 1: play defense. And they get up 14-0. They still give
- 42:43Speaker 1: up that lead. And they come back and they're taking
- 42:46Speaker 1: the lead again.
- 42:47Speaker 2: Look, this is.
- 42:51Speaker 1: It's hard to win. It's also hard to lose the
- 42:53Speaker 1: way they lose every single week. And I'm tired of
- 42:57Speaker 1: hearing about they're going to learn how not to lose.
- 42:59Speaker 1: And all the stuff that we're hearing post-game about how
- 43:02Speaker 1: it's not just on the quarterback, everybody now is talking
- 43:05Speaker 1: about it, where it's just not good quarterback play. Now,
- 43:11Speaker 1: I shouldn't have to do this every week. I want
- 43:12Speaker 1: to point out that, yes, he drove down the field
- 43:14Speaker 1: and got the game tied. He made some big throws.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Great job to Cardinal Tate. But, I mean, who's fooling
- 43:23Speaker 1: who here? Every single week, if they start fast, which
- 43:27Speaker 1: is rare, they end up going dormant during the middle
- 43:31Speaker 1: portion of the game. Second and third quarter is non-existent.
- 43:35Speaker 1: And when the teams, for the most part, are playing pre-vent,
- 43:40Speaker 1: or they're dropping safeties in the fourth quarter, that's whenever
- 43:44Speaker 1: they start to pick up passing yards. And we've yet
- 43:47Speaker 1: to see him pass for 300. That's a pipe dream
- 43:52Speaker 1: right now. It is hard to move the football in
- 43:55Speaker 1: this offense. And Brian Dable's play calling is telling us everything. Well,
- 44:00Speaker 1: and Brian Dable's offense is also not good enough.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Well, I think he's telling us he's handcuffed with it.
- 44:08Speaker 2: I do. Okay.
- 44:09Speaker 1: I get that because the offensive line is fine. The
- 44:14Speaker 1: run game yesterday, again, they get the run game going
- 44:18Speaker 1: from the jump, and we still don't see the downfield
- 44:22Speaker 1: passing game until they have to push it down the field.
- 44:25Speaker 1: And even those moments are overthrown.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Why start him? This is what I don't understand. The
- 44:35Speaker 2: best thing to do for him is to bench him
- 44:37Speaker 2: at some point. And we've got the numbers right now,
- 44:45Speaker 2: losses through two seasons of a starting quarterback to start
- 44:48Speaker 2: their career. Cam Ward, guys, when we look at this,
- 44:53Speaker 2: he's going to blow these guys out of the water.
- 44:56Speaker 2: He's two away from reaching Derek Carr. The Titans, let
- 45:00Speaker 2: me give you a little spoiler alert here the rest
- 45:01Speaker 2: of the year. They're losing more than two more football
- 45:03Speaker 2: games this season. I mean, he is not only going
- 45:07Speaker 2: to be the worst loser in the history of of
- 45:11Speaker 2: quarterbacks to start their career, he is going to be
- 45:14Speaker 2: by far worse than Jeff George and Derek Carr and
- 45:17Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence and Bryce Young. This is going to be
- 45:21Speaker 2: a joke by the time it's all said and done.
- 45:23Speaker 2: I keep coming back to this question. What is the
- 45:26Speaker 2: reason to start Cam Ward other than it doesn't matter anymore?
- 45:31Speaker 2: Nothing matters. What does anything matter? This team doesn't need
- 45:34Speaker 2: to win. Or if you're just trying to get the
- 45:36Speaker 2: number one pick, which I prefer the Titans do, to
- 45:38Speaker 2: go get Jeremiah Smith, If you tell me that, then
- 45:41Speaker 2: I understand it. Like, hey, this guy gives us the
- 45:43Speaker 2: best chance to lose, and we want to lose because
- 45:46Speaker 2: we want Jeremiah Smith, so we're going to keep trotting
- 45:48Speaker 2: him out there. If you have any inclination of trying
- 45:51Speaker 2: to win football games, you go to Mitch Trubisky. You
- 45:55Speaker 2: go to Mitch Trubisky three or four weeks ago. You
- 45:57Speaker 2: have to if you want to win. Much less right now.
- 45:59Speaker 2: And if Brian Dayball– and I agree with you, Hutton–
- 46:02Speaker 2: but if Brian Dayball is saying that with his play calling, guys–
- 46:05Speaker 2: I got my hands tied behind my back here. I'm
- 46:08Speaker 2: playing left-handed because the quarterback can't get it, can't grasp
- 46:12Speaker 2: the offense, also can't hit easy passes at times, and
- 46:16Speaker 2: it limits what I can call. If that's the case,
- 46:19Speaker 2: why are you not starting Mitch Trubisky right now other
- 46:21Speaker 2: than you just want to lose games?
- 46:23Speaker 1: I'm going to pull up. I don't have the exact quote.
- 46:26Speaker 1: I'll bring it tomorrow. But he said, Cam Ward said
- 46:32Speaker 1: that the offense, he said this postgame, the offense is
- 46:35Speaker 1: figuring out things very fast and I'm paraphrasing, but what,
- 46:39Speaker 1: I mean, where we sit right now in the season
- 46:44Speaker 1: is miles down the road from where this, where they
- 46:47Speaker 1: should be, uh, or they're way behind.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Um, there's, there's no development. I don't see improvement.
- 46:55Speaker 1: And why is he playing? Because I think they have
- 46:58Speaker 1: to play him. Um, I think that's part of the
- 47:02Speaker 1: gig coming in. Brian Dable, by the way, with the Giants,
- 47:05Speaker 1: was a part of that regime that tried to trade
- 47:07Speaker 1: up and draft him.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Yeah. Hey, I'm shocked by the way they lost that
- 47:11Speaker 2: game the way it started. But let me say that also.
- 47:14Speaker 2: I thought for sure, oh, this is the day they're
- 47:15Speaker 2: going to put it together and they're going to run
- 47:17Speaker 2: the football. And Cleveland's not very good on offense. And
- 47:20Speaker 2: they're going to win the game. Instead, they got KC
- 47:23Speaker 2: Concepcion celebrating in front of their entire sideline after a touchdown.
- 47:28Speaker 2: He was great. They got Dylan Sampson. the former Vol
- 47:31Speaker 2: playing well, and they come back and win on another
- 47:34Speaker 2: walk-off field goal, which is crazy when you see the
- 47:37Speaker 2: cardiac Cleveland Browns and how they've already done that so
- 47:39Speaker 2: many times. But Hutton, who's telling them now to keep
- 47:43Speaker 2: playing Cam? Well, who in that Titans organization believes he
- 47:47Speaker 2: is a marketable asset moving into the new stadium? I
- 47:51Speaker 2: don't understand anyone who would think that right now. Well,
- 47:54Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know who that is currently.
- 47:57Speaker 1: I just believe, I don't know this, I just believe
- 48:00Speaker 1: that the whole part of this was developing him going
- 48:03Speaker 1: into 2027. I think a lot of the marketing aspects
- 48:07Speaker 1: of that new stadium has number one written all over it.
- 48:11Speaker 1: And the entire off-season hiring process.
- 48:14Speaker 2: What do we hear.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Whenever Sala was hired? That he had a great plan,
- 48:17Speaker 1: even though he's a defensive guy, he had a great
- 48:19Speaker 1: plan for the development of Cam Ward. And the difference
- 48:23Speaker 1: between him and Vrabel is Vrabel has already moved on
- 48:26Speaker 1: from Mariota by now.
- 48:28Speaker 2: You know, he's on to the next guy. That's not
- 48:31Speaker 2: the case here.
- 48:32Speaker 1: And we knew that three weeks ago, was it three
- 48:35Speaker 1: or four weeks ago, when Salah stood at the podium
- 48:37Speaker 1: and said, you know, it's about the next 12 weeks
- 48:39Speaker 1: and whatever we're going to do to find out who
- 48:42Speaker 1: wants to be here. And we're going to, we're sticking
- 48:44Speaker 1: with Cam. You know, he's got, we're going to stick
- 48:45Speaker 1: with him for the season. He like hesitated and then
- 48:48Speaker 1: he went back and said for the season. I mean,
- 48:50Speaker 1: there's nothing that I can really see that's just going
- 48:53Speaker 1: to turn, that's going to flip the switch. And we're
- 48:57Speaker 1: all of a sudden going to see a quarterback who's
- 49:00Speaker 1: here and starting week one.
- 49:01Speaker 2: A year from now.
- 49:03Speaker 1: I don't know how you go into that offseason thinking
- 49:06Speaker 1: that based on what we've seen.
- 49:08Speaker 2: I think it was easier with Mariota. Go ahead. Yeah,
- 49:12Speaker 2: I think to your point, Hutton, though, it was way
- 49:15Speaker 2: easier with Mariota because John Robinson didn't draft him, If
- 49:19Speaker 2: memory serves me correctly, Rustin Webster drafted Marcus Mariota. That's right.
- 49:25Speaker 2: The one hindrance in this thing to me would be
- 49:28Speaker 2: Mike Borgonzi, who drafted Cam Ward. And Mike Borgonzi can't
- 49:33Speaker 2: have that blemish on his record as a GM and
- 49:38Speaker 2: still go sell that he's doing a good job to
- 49:40Speaker 2: miss Amy and ownership. That's all fair. He's got blemishes, too.
- 49:45Speaker 2: We've criticized Amy Adam Strunk and Burke Nihill. Burke Nihill
- 49:49Speaker 2: and Amy Adam Strunk are smart enough to know that
- 49:51Speaker 2: Cam Ward sucks. They do now.
- 49:53Speaker 1: I think in the offseason, though, the entire hiring process
- 49:57Speaker 1: was about Cam Ward.
- 49:58Speaker 2: He wanted to be a part of the hiring process,
- 50:00Speaker 2: and that was a long time ago in the offseason
- 50:02Speaker 2: because here we are getting ready for Halloween, and it's
- 50:06Speaker 2: trick or treat, and it's a trick. I think everybody
- 50:09Speaker 2: knows that now about Cam Ward. We've been talking about it.
- 50:12Speaker 2: I know them to be smart enough to know. You
- 50:15Speaker 2: don't have to be a football savant to see that
- 50:17Speaker 2: this guy can't do the simple things and he's not
- 50:19Speaker 2: grasping what he's being asked to do. He's not an
- 50:23Speaker 2: NFL quarterback. Everybody can see it at this point. I
- 50:27Speaker 2: don't even have Cam Ward defenders anymore tweeting me. They
- 50:30Speaker 2: all see it now at this point too. So even
- 50:33Speaker 2: if the most diehard Cam Ward supporter out there is
- 50:37Speaker 2: having a tough time defending his play right now. The
- 50:40Speaker 2: only person to me that would even remotely be holding
- 50:42Speaker 2: out hope is Mike Borgonzi because it's about job preservation
- 50:47Speaker 2: for him.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Well, if it's about that for him, clean house. Clean house.
- 50:52Speaker 1: Because I haven't seen development either from the staff with him.
- 50:57Speaker 1: And again, what are we going to realistically see down
- 51:02Speaker 1: the stretch of this season? Because it doesn't matter now
- 51:04Speaker 1: if you turn to Trubisky. Look, do I think Trubisky's
- 51:07Speaker 1: going to be great?
- 51:08Speaker 2: No.
- 51:09Speaker 1: But I think he wins games for you right now.
- 51:11Speaker 1: I think he would have won the game against the Giants.
- 51:15Speaker 1: He doesn't throw that pick and tell everyone that was
- 51:18Speaker 1: intentionally thrown behind Eilmaner going after Denzel Ward because of
- 51:23Speaker 1: something else you saw on the field. I think you
- 51:25Speaker 1: could do more than just play screen game with him.
- 51:28Speaker 1: You could run the offense a bit better. I do
- 51:30Speaker 1: believe that. This guy's been in the system with Dable before.
- 51:33Speaker 1: I think we see more, not this elementary style, we're
- 51:39Speaker 1: coming along very fast offense. There's nothing fast about this offense.
- 51:43Speaker 1: There's nothing that you can count on with this group,
- 51:46Speaker 1: except you can turn around and hand the football off.
- 51:49Speaker 1: There's no excuse now, Chad. And I know you echoed
- 51:53Speaker 1: this too. The offensive line has not been the issue.
- 51:55Speaker 1: They've cut the sacks in half. They're getting the ball
- 51:57Speaker 1: out fast because they have to. The run game has
- 52:00Speaker 1: not been the issue. They can run it if they
- 52:03Speaker 1: need to or if they want to. But again, can
- 52:06Speaker 1: they push it downfield? Where's Gunnar Helm been? We saw
- 52:09Speaker 1: him yesterday, but the tight ends, they're nonexistent because they're
- 52:12Speaker 1: the third option on a play that doesn't make it
- 52:14Speaker 1: that far. It's odd that they haven't made the switch earlier.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Now it doesn't matter. And now it is about the
- 52:23Speaker 1: march towards the draft. But the Titans fans are used
- 52:27Speaker 1: to this.
- 52:27Speaker 2: And I don't want Mike Borgonzi making that pick based
- 52:30Speaker 2: on what I've seen right now. I don't want him
- 52:32Speaker 2: making decisions. He had a chance to trade down and
- 52:34Speaker 2: not draft Cam Ward and get a plethora of picks.
- 52:37Speaker 2: This team, this roster and this team, everything points back
- 52:41Speaker 2: to each other. It's the roster isn't good enough, which
- 52:44Speaker 2: is true. The coaching isn't good enough, which is true.
- 52:47Speaker 2: The quarterback play isn't good enough, which is true. It's
- 52:50Speaker 2: everyone pointing at the other side when no one is
- 52:53Speaker 2: doing a good job within this organization on the football
- 52:56Speaker 2: side of things.
- 52:57Speaker 1: And everyone's going to be like, I say everyone, some
- 52:59Speaker 1: will be like, oh, it's unfair to just put up
- 53:01Speaker 1: records and numbers and all that stuff and compare him
- 53:03Speaker 1: to all these quarterbacks. There's not a list that he's
- 53:05Speaker 1: a part of, Chad, board, that's good. That's a good
- 53:08Speaker 1: list with quarterbacks. I mean, this 4-20 record, I mean,
- 53:13Speaker 1: There are two quarterbacks that have turned things around on
- 53:15Speaker 1: that list. And one of them is Bryce Young. It
- 53:20Speaker 1: took a while, but it took him sitting the bench.
- 53:24Speaker 1: I mean, look at Trevor Lawrence is the other one.
- 53:27Speaker 1: And again, some of his losses are due to what
- 53:29Speaker 1: we saw with Urban Meyer. Everyone else is a backup
- 53:35Speaker 1: or out of the league. Blake Bortles had a good season.
- 53:40Speaker 2: At one point, even. He's on this list, too. Let's
- 53:44Speaker 2: go down the list, though, of what the Titans have
- 53:47Speaker 2: right now and what they are from a leadership standpoint.
- 53:51Speaker 2: I'm talking football side of things. Mike Borgonzi has done
- 53:54Speaker 2: nothing to improve this roster in his time as the
- 53:58Speaker 2: Titans GM. The head coach strikes me as a bald,
- 54:04Speaker 2: buff Butch Jones. That's what he sounds like. He's talking
- 54:11Speaker 2: about seed oils. He's using cliches to talk about the team.
- 54:15Speaker 2: All gas, no break. All gas, no break. He is
- 54:19Speaker 2: a bald, more buff, congrats on the physical health, Butch Jones.
- 54:25Speaker 2: That's what the head coach is. Your offensive coordinator, who
- 54:28Speaker 2: I thought would be way better, is getting nothing done.
- 54:31Speaker 2: And I agree with you that he's defiantly showing everyone
- 54:36Speaker 2: that he can't even call passing plays with the quarterback
- 54:39Speaker 2: right now. and so he's going to die on that
- 54:41Speaker 2: hill doing that. This sounds nuts, given where the Titans
- 54:47Speaker 2: just were and that they just sort of did this,
- 54:49Speaker 2: but they haven't done it completely. It is time to
- 54:52Speaker 2: completely clean house. Yeah, and I said that a few
- 54:56Speaker 2: weeks ago.
- 54:56Speaker 1: I want a football guy in that spot, someone that
- 54:59Speaker 1: you just turn things over to. I even went as
- 55:03Speaker 1: far as to say give him part ownership and do
- 55:06Speaker 1: the Tom Brady move. Yeah, it's got to be someone
- 55:08Speaker 1: like that that can come in and totally revamp the
- 55:12Speaker 1: mindset of that building. Because it starts at the very top,
- 55:17Speaker 1: and it has trickled down to where everyone's doing different.
- 55:20Speaker 1: I mean, it's just recently that Borgonzi even had the
- 55:23Speaker 1: voice to speak at a press conference by himself.
- 55:27Speaker 2: The whole thing has been just a cluster.
- 55:30Speaker 1: And this is still that because I feel like the
- 55:34Speaker 1: staff is just going along with the playbook, which is
- 55:36Speaker 1: we're going to play Cam Ward because we're number one.
- 55:40Speaker 2: He's the number one pick and he's our savior. And
- 55:42Speaker 2: you can't speak things into existence.
- 55:44Speaker 1: To your point about Butch Jones, all these slogans are
- 55:47Speaker 1: just speaking things into existence that are not there. And
- 55:51Speaker 1: it comes across very repetitive. With all that being said, though,
- 55:55Speaker 1: We're talking officials. He's close to talking about champions of life.
- 55:59Speaker 1: I feel like he's two more losses and two weeks
- 56:01Speaker 1: away from referencing that. How about the offside, the false
- 56:05Speaker 1: start yesterday at right tackle? I just took a screenshot here.
- 56:11Speaker 1: I may be a tad late on when I took
- 56:14Speaker 1: this screenshot, but I tried to find a spot where
- 56:17Speaker 1: the offensive line wasn't moving, the receivers are not moving.
- 56:20Speaker 1: No one's moving except for the right tackle. For all
- 56:25Speaker 1: of that, you've got an official that has thrown 40
- 56:30Speaker 1: more flags than the rest of the league, and this
- 56:33Speaker 1: one isn't called? Look at the false starts they see.
- 56:41Speaker 1: I mean, a little flinch of the upper body on
- 56:44Speaker 1: an offensive guard that's flagged immediately. The smallest of movements.
- 56:49Speaker 1: He gets flagged quickly on Paul's start, and they miss
- 56:52Speaker 1: that one?
- 56:55Speaker 2: That was awful. I watched it live and thought that
- 56:58Speaker 2: is terrible that they missed that one. Let me give
- 57:02Speaker 2: you a name quickly before we bury this Titans discussion
- 57:05Speaker 2: because people are going to ask, okay, who are you
- 57:08Speaker 2: going to hire? That's a question for every job that's
- 57:10Speaker 2: out there. All right, well, this is bad, but who
- 57:12Speaker 2: are you going to hire? Titans need to go completely
- 57:14Speaker 2: outside the box. The next hire, Will Stein. That's my
- 57:17Speaker 2: first call. Go hire somebody young with energy that's going
- 57:22Speaker 2: to bring in their own set of what they're going
- 57:25Speaker 2: to do with an organization and a program. I would
- 57:29Speaker 2: go hire Will Stein. I would say someone like a
- 57:32Speaker 2: Will Stein from the college game to come in and
- 57:35Speaker 2: lead the Titans. But I'm just going to go ahead
- 57:38Speaker 2: and say it. The Titans should hire Kentucky head coach
- 57:41Speaker 2: Will Stein.
- 57:42Speaker 1: See, I don't mind who they hire as long as
- 57:44Speaker 1: they follow my view of who's at the very top
- 57:48Speaker 1: making the call. Someone's got to hire him. And if
- 57:52Speaker 1: they're cleaning house, who's making the hire? That's crucial here.
- 57:57Speaker 1: They've got to get that part right. Hey, as we
- 58:00Speaker 1: go to break, by the way, they set the record.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Big thanks to Brooks for figuring this out for us
- 58:07Speaker 1: and doing the longest streak without consecutive wins in league history.
- 58:11Speaker 2: It's the Tennessee Titans.
- 58:12Speaker 1: They're going to shatter this because they have at least
- 58:15Speaker 1: 21 days coming up to where.
- 58:19Speaker 1: At least 21 days before they can actually win back-to-back
- 58:22Speaker 1: games again.
- 58:23Speaker 2: Oh, man. You've got to laugh not to cry if
- 58:25Speaker 2: you support the Tennessee Titans right now. Yeah, this is
- 58:29Speaker 2: a thing that's not going to end anytime soon.
- 58:32Speaker 1: And here is– AI is incredible. Forget me for who
- 58:39Speaker 1: put this out, but it's gone viral. It's the Tennessee Titans,
- 58:42Speaker 1: and this is your life moment.
- 58:46Speaker 2: All right, guys, it's preseason, and we'll– What the fuck
- 58:49Speaker 2: are you doing?
- 58:51Speaker 4: What?
- 58:51Speaker 2: All right, fuck it. Cam's starting this year. Nashville, Tennessee.
- 58:56Speaker 3: Music City. Where everyone's drunk to watch the Titans be shitty.
- 59:00Speaker 3: Starting with our fans who have spent 26 years talking
- 59:03Speaker 3: about one yard like they talk about their lifted trucks.
- 59:07Speaker 3: They definitely are not compensating for anything. Bud Adams got
- 59:11Speaker 3: fined $ 250, 000 for giving Bill's fans the double bird. This
- 59:16Speaker 3: was the last time we had an owner willing to
- 59:18Speaker 3: spend money on something the fans wanted. He also spent
- 59:21Speaker 3: it on Vince Young, whose career ended when he tore a.
- 59:24Speaker 2: Tendon in his thumb.
- 59:25Speaker 3: And threw his pads into the stands. Football he could
- 59:28Speaker 3: live without, but that was his cheesecake hand. I bet
- 59:32Speaker 3: you didn't know we had Andre Johnson, Randy Moss, Julio,
- 59:35Speaker 3: and D-Hop. We consider ourselves the receiver retirement community. Derrick
- 59:39Speaker 3: Henry used to carry us to the playoffs, so naturally
- 59:42Speaker 3: we let him go because old running backs fall off.
- 59:46Speaker 3: He ran for 1,900 yards at 30.
- 59:48Speaker 2: We were the old running back in this situation.
- 59:51Speaker 3: While Henry was carrying us, we traded A.J. Brown for
- 59:54Speaker 3: a first round pick and used it on a worse A.J.
- 59:57Speaker 2: Brown.
- 59:58Speaker 3: It's like trading in your wife for Diana Rossini and
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: getting caught when she's not as good. Before we fired him,
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Coach Vrabel said he'd cut off his dick for a
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Super Bowl. After Super Bowl 60, he has no ring
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: and still has the dick, which is the worst possible
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: outcome for everyone except Diana Rossini.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: I told you I'd keep it for you.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: Then we saw Will Levis' girlfriend on draft night and
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: figured he must be doing something right. She left him,
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: so we did too. At least she's nothing like Air
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: McNair's girlfriend. So we moved on to Cam, who was
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: bad enough for all of our reporters to focus all
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: of their hate on him every week.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Cam, why are you such a fucking loser?
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: The Tennessee Titans. No, we're not the team from the movie.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: They were better. Oh, yes, they were.
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: Wow. Wow.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: Yes, they were. AI is hard at work in the
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: football world. It's insane. It's amazing. The videos of the guys,
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: everyone doing the song each week to every day, it
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: drops a new one of a different group. And that
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: sax reveal of whoever's playing the saxophone. This week it
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: was Josh Eipel playing the sax of all the college
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: football coaches who lost big games. Gets me every time.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: I love it.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Coming up, Aaron Rodgers is back at it. Just speaking
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: the truth. The NFL is going on their world tour.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: Roger Goodell is talking about another major international game next year.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: He's named a city. We'll tell you about that, plus
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: what Rogers has said about, well, I mean, it's just
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: three consecutive years now, or three straight years, that he
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: has gone on the tour, the international game tour. And
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: he had thoughts post-game. That's next here on Hunting with Roe.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: Accidents don't wait for a good timing. One bad moment,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: a wreck, a fall, a doctor who wasn't paying attention,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: and you're suddenly fighting the insurance company that does this
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: every single day. And that's why Clay started Clay Travis Law.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: He's a Vanderbilt Law grad. He built a firm focused
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: on the details. People deserve someone on their side willing
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: to pay full attention, ask the hard questions, and push

- 1:02:56Speaker 2: Chad, so.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: We're a fan of Aaron Rodgers, on the field and off,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: whenever he gets behind a mic, because he speaks the truth.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: He doesn't care. He gives zero. And he's back at
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: it again.
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: A whole lot until the second CBA, and there was
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: talk about doing a week, an international week, where you
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: had games in 16 different places, and you just added
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: an extra bye week. Um, so you'd play 16 regular season.
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: You have two bi-weeks. One of those weeks would have
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: been an international week. I think it'd been phenomenal for
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: the game. Now that the owners wanted to push for
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: 17 games, uh, for the, uh, you know, extra revenue
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: and because, uh, they care so much about player safety, but, um, it.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: Would have been nice.
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: I think there's 16 opportunities. I mean, you could do
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: obviously in Canada, you could do in Mexico. There's been
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: games in Brazil. You could probably open up another country
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: in South America. Um, Obviously, there's a lot of opportunities
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: in Europe. Ireland, fantastic. France, Spain, Germany, multiple games in England.
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: And then who knows? Obviously, there's Dubai, and that area
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: has really got into the sporting world in a number
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: of ways. You've got boxing and UFC, I think, was
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: there yesterday, I believe. So I think there's great opportunities
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: for expansion in those things. It would be awesome to
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: see them have an international week Because I think it's
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: great for the game and the expansion of the game.
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: And I wish there was a mandate, though, from the league.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: And they would have to.
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: Open up their pocketbooks, too, which, you know, maybe they'll
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: look tight on money and stuff. But I think they
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: should mandate every team coming over Sunday or Monday to
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: really enjoy the culture and the place you're going. And
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: you can do events in those cities and outreach stuff
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: and community work. But they won't because they're a little tight.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: Was Aaron Rodgers discussing? The dry sarcasm he gets me
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: every time with the, you know, because they care so
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: much about player safety and because money's a little tight
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: for the owner, so they're not willing to do that.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: That gets me every time. What do we think about
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: where they were negotiating the possibility of 16 games all
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: in different markets internationally in one week?
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: We're doing this on the fly here. You can speak
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: to this. I know someone who was contacted by one
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: of these countries. and wanted to lobby on their behalf
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: to the NFL. This was 2020, 2021, the summer of 2021.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: And I have said for a long time that they're
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: going to be in Saudi, they're going to be across
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: the globe, and they're going to have an entire week.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: I think they could have teams every single week play
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: an international game instead of just one week. And they
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: could sell that game to one of their international streaming partners,
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: Amazon comes to mind in that regard. YouTube comes to mind.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: Whenever they restructure the NFL Red Zone channel and that
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: deal comes up with YouTube, they want to expand. YouTube
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: wants to expand their global reach with the NFL. This
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: is the way to go. And I don't see this stopping.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Goodell's already mentioning Tokyo. This was yesterday in Paris. Rogers
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: is right, by the way. Whenever I went to London,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: you were there. Whenever we went to London and I
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: flew with the team, I was dumbfounded, honestly, about how
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: many players had never been or did not have a passport.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: The team took care of all of that for them.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: But the experience is why it's beneficial in many ways.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: And you have coaches like Sean McVay who are flying
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: over in a 24-hour period or whatever. You've got to
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: go over and enjoy it. They've got to structure this
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: where you have an extra bye week. Some of these
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: teams are coming back and playing immediately. The Eagles did that.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: I think it's entirely the wrong decision to do it.
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: You can request, by the way, for your team to
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: take the bye after your international game right now. Some
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: teams do it. Some teams don't. They want the later bye.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: I would have it after that week because you're exhausted.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: And I would have the teams over there for the
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: week to actually, from their perspective, actually find the different
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: cultures that are available to go and be a part of.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: It would be fun. Well, it's just such a cash
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: grab right now. That's all it is. It's what Aaron
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: Rodgers is saying. It's a cash grab. Expansion. It's less
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: of one. If you do the whole week thing, hey,
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: we're going to go over there. We're going to have events.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: We want American football to spread to Madrid or Dublin, Ireland,
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: or wherever you are, we're going to have our teams
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: go and interact with the community. They're going to do
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: some charitable things in these countries. And you spend, like
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: you said, get there on a Monday, and you spend
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: all week, and then suddenly you're doing things in the community.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: That's a way to tie in. This is true global outreach.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: Because what it is right now is really, we're just
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: going to put a television product on We're going to
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: sell a bunch of tickets to the local people, but
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: we're going to get in the Sean McVay way. We're
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: going to get in. It's a business trip. It's going
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: to be all about football. We're in, we're out, and
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: there's no cultural significance or exposure for the players and
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: coaches that go. I agree with what Aaron Rodgers said.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: I think if you had one week where everyone's international,
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: that would be tough on the NFL fan stateside to
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: watch those games and to really experience it where everyone's
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: somewhere different. One week, it definitely would work out for
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: the players better in what he's saying, but I wouldn't
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: like that from a fan standpoint. But I just keep
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: going back to if we're doing what's right for the fans,
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: your fans are in the United States, most of them.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: Your teams are all in the United States. Then keep
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: most of the games in the U.S. They've gone too
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: far with these international games every single week, week after week,
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: having to figure out who's playing at 8 a.m. But
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: they're not going to do what's best for the fans.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: They're going to do what's best– For the bottom line,
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: they already hold the cities that they're playing in by
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: the balls based on their stadiums all these upgrades they're
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: tearing down stadiums after 25 years building domes they've already
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: got you i mean they've got us locally so they're
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: more concerned with like their international marketing rights which we've
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: been over in detail and The Titans are in Ireland,
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: for instance. You've got Australia with Los Angeles and San
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: Francisco and Seattle. They own the marketing rights.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: There's a reason why the Jacksonville Jaguars can't put up
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: a team store in Nashville, because the Titans own this area.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: This is about flag football. Flag football going to the Olympics.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: The NFL wants to expand it. It's easy to teach
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: flag football. You're not having injuries. You can teach it
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: to both genders, male and female. And you can play
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: this and you can teach it globally to the kids
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: and then have them become football fans because they want
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: this to become baseball, soccer, basketball. They want to be global.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: And right now they're not. And that's where they're expanding.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: It's all about their markets where they have purchased marketing rights,
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: not where they currently sit because they already own us.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: They already own the area. It's sad, but true. I mean,
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: I don't think the Titans care that the opposing fans
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: are taking over their stadiums every year or every week.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: I really don't.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: I don't think they care about the season. It's all
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: about the new stadium. Nothing about this year. They're marketing
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: the final year in the state. Who cares about it?
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: They want to tear it down faster.
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: Than we do. I just wish that local mattered more.
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: I totally agree with you. And look, Todd Munkin was saying,
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: great job by the Browns fans. He said our entire
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: side of the stadium was Cleveland Browns fans. And that
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: doesn't surprise anybody. I also agree, Hutton, that I don't
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: think the Titans really care that other teams' fan bases
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: take over the stadium. I don't. I think they care
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: about selling tickets, but they're not even doing that either.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: I just want it to go back to your local
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: team or you being a fan of a team. It
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: felt like it mattered more than it does right now
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: to the NFL because I just don't think it matters
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: that much because it's all about the next frontier of
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: It's all about the next horizon to conquer, and that
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: next horizon to conquer is in South America and Europe
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: and the Middle East and wherever else they want to
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: go play games.
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: And it's not just Nashville. It's the Mid-South with radio
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: partners in Bowling Green or in Stuttgart, Arkansas or in Arab, Alabama. Again,
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: there are different spots that I don't think people with
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: the Titans could even tell you where the radio partners are.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: And that's the point you're making, is it's about the
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: international game.
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: And every owner's doing this.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: It's not just them. But that's the focus. And it
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: starts with Goodell and the entire money grab. But they
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: already have it here.
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: They own it.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: They own the stadium, everything under the roof. Chad, the
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: SEC owns college football. Just ask the Big 12 and
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: the Big 10 from this past weekend. And then look
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: at the records across the Southeastern Conference. We'll do that
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: next year on Hutton and Withrow. Crockett Coffee is what

- 1:13:07Speaker 2: its money back. Is that right?
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: So this was a legit field storming on Saturday with
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: South Carolina fans storming the field. And we got a
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: quick clip here of what can go wrong when fans
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: storm the field, that this happens sadly more times than not,
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: where you've got Jeremiah T. Lander taking a swat at
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: a South Carolina fan who was celebrating in front of
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: him on the way off the field. I think we
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: also have David Hobbs who slammed a fan to the ground,
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: didn't punch him, but just gave him a little shoulder shrug.
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: and knocked him to the ground as he was running
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: past him on the way off the field. This is
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: when they talk about dangers to the playing area when
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: fans storm the field because then players get involved also
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: and can get physical. That's not great. Not a good
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: look for Tennessee. Not a great look for South Carolina.
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: People ask me, what do you think about them? Was
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: it worthy of a field storming beating 11th-ranked Tennessee as
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: a favorite? In Vegas, I don't know. I have a
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: hard time deciding what's worthy of a field storming. It's
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: an Instagram selfie. It was a big win for South Carolina.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: They were the Vegas favorite. It was not an upset
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: based on Vegas. And I look at the Vegas lines.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: Was it an upset based on ranking? Yes. But Vegas
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: had them favored. They covered by a half a point
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: in the game by winning by a field goal. So
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: should you rush the field when you're a Vegas betting favorite?
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: I think it's impossible to tell college kids what to
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: do and what not to do when they want to
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: do something. But Tennessee got their money back from a
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: week ago by having to pay Alabama $ 500, 000 for taking
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: the field. Now South Carolina pays Tennessee Athletics $ 500, 000.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: I think it's just all about this. The phone and
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: the selfie moment. That's what they're looking for when they
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: start on the field.
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of that. Just don't take down
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: the goalposts so they have to replace them. That's what
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: they care about. And that's kind of what bothered me
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: the most about the Tennessee thing was it was less
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: about Tennessee fans shocked, we're going to storm the field
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: in exuberance and tear their goalposts down. It was more of,
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: this is a biannual selfie opportunity where we can just
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: walk out onto the field and smoke cigars. And then
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: the students start it, and it's mostly students, but then
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: the adults go down there and just walk down and, hey,
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: I'm going to get my selfie on the field also.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: At that point, you're paying it anyway. It's a $ 500, 000
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: selfie opportunity, which, and I know that Danny White sort
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: of encouraged it. I don't get it, but... Maybe he
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: knew the next week Tennessee was going to go on
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: the road and lose and that South Carolina would storm
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: the field, and he would just get that $ 500, 000 right back.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: The storm of the field is going to happen in
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: the month of October because by the time you get
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: to November, you're going.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: To have some losses in the SEC, Chad. The gauntlet
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: is real, and we're going to see a handful of
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: three-loss teams trying to knock on the door of the playoff. Yeah,
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: I mean, it is amazing the cluster of two-loss teams
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: in the SEC right now. When you look at this list,
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: and we'll do this this week where each of us
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: will just blindly rank where we put these teams because
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: I want to see how different you are from me.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: This is the group we put in. I'm separating Georgia.
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: Out of it.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: Georgia also has one loss right now. I believe Georgia
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: is clearly the best team in the SEC. Yes, I agree.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: And I feel like they are clearly the favorite with
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: their remaining schedule to play for the SEC championship and,
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: to me, to win the SEC championship. I think they're
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: the best team in the conference. But Kentucky's got an argument. Yeah,
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: they got blown out at home by Alabama, but look
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: at their wins also. They go to A & M
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: and won. They went at home against LSU. They won
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: at South Carolina. I mean, some really good wins already
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: for Kentucky. Tennessee 6-2. Alabama 6-2. LSU 6-2. Texas 5-2.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: Florida 5-2. How do you rank those teams? Because it
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: has been a spinning wheel of death. where each of
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: those teams have defeated the other in some way. The
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: transitive property doesn't work because the moment you say, well,
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: this team beat that one. Well, that team that beat
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: this one also got beat by this team who got
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: destroyed at home by this other team. It's crazy, Hutton.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: And it's another illustration that this is a week-to-week league.
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: There are going to be multiple losses. These are all
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: good teams. I don't think college football is worse. There's
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: this argument being made that are there any good teams
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: in college football? Yes, of course. There are a bunch
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: of good teams in college football. Is there a great team?
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: I don't think so. But because you have a number
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: of really good teams, and I think we're looking at
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: a list right now of really good SEC teams, they're
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: all going to beat up on each other throughout the season.
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you have some teams that face their third loss,
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: but somehow grab victory from the jaws of defeat. Alabama
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: trailed early. Texas and Ole Miss going back and forth
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: over time. I don't know how Ole Miss got back
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: in that game, but they did. You know, they end
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: up with their loss. But Alabama, man, consider their third
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: straight loss and what that would have meant to their
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: program right now versus what the conversation is like today.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: That is massive for Crimson Tide fans and their program.
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: And that was a hairy game into the second half
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: against A & M. But you're right. I mean, all
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: is well that ends well. Huge win for Alabama to
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: win that one at home. On this upcoming week, every
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: week is just another– here's a matchup that's going to
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: change someone's season. Yeah. Let's flash those two-loss teams up
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: again and one-loss teams. Florida and Georgia in Atlanta this week,
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: that's the big game. There's not a lot of great games.
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: they have spread right now by the way at uh
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: hard rock bed right Florida Georgia if Florida loses it's
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: their third loss right there's going to be a three
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: loss team at least one that's going to make the
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: playoff that's my prediction right now from the SEC so
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: I don't think it eliminates Florida right now but
