Hockey lost a true legend this week with the passing of Eddie Joyal, “The Jet,” at 86. A nine-year NHL veteran with the Red Wings and Maple Leafs, he was mentored by Gordie Howe and scored over 260 points. He famously netted the winner in a 1964 playoff game against Toronto — only to see the series slip away. His career took him from Detroit to LA, where he set personal bests, to Philadelphia, before joining the WHA. Even after retirement, his hometown of St. Albert honored him with “Eddie Joyal Day” and a street named in his honor. His legacy lives on — not just in stats, but in the hearts…
