- 0:00In this powerful continuation of Pomoja podcast,
- 0:03Barry Muamba goes deeper into one of the most
- 0:05dangerous and least discussed realities of the
- 0:08Christian life, spiritual weariness. Following
- 0:10the first episode on physical exhaustion and
- 0:13fatigue as a subtle weapon of the enemy, this
- 0:15episode explores a deeper dimension of weariness,
- 0:18the gradual fading of passion, spiritual excitement,
- 0:22intimacy with God, and reverence for His presence.
- 0:26Through prophetic reflection, personal insight
- 0:28and biblical examples, Barry explains how many
- 0:31believers do not suddenly walk away from God
- 0:34through rebellion, but slowly drift through familiarity,
- 0:38disappointment, emotional exhaustion, spiritual
- 0:42complacency, and loss of spiritual freshness.
- 0:45This episode exposes the silent drift of the
- 0:48soul, the fading of excitement in Christian life,
- 0:51the danger of spiritual complacency, why over
- 0:55-familiarity destroys reverence. How believers
- 0:58can continue serving externally while drifting
- 1:00internally. The difference between physical exhaustion,
- 1:04emotional exhaustion, and spiritual weariness.
- 1:08Why maintaining spiritual fire requires intentionality.
- 1:11How the enemy uses weariness and distraction
- 1:13as a long -term strategy. The illusion of greener
- 1:17grass outside God's presence. Why the world's
- 1:20excitement often becomes emptiness, pain, bondage,
- 1:23and destruction. using powerful biblical examples
- 1:26such as The Lost Sheep, The Prodigal Son, Samson,
- 1:31Saul, Hophni and Phineas, and Elijah. Barry reveals
- 1:35how spiritual decline often begins when believers
- 1:38lose the excitement of prayer, worship, intimacy
- 1:42with God, and the sacredness of His presence.
- 1:45This episode also explores the deeper human tendency
- 1:48to become weary, familiar, and constantly attracted
- 1:51to new things. explaining why marriages, ministries,
- 1:56businesses, churches, and personal callings often
- 1:59decline when intentionality disappears. At the
- 2:02center of this message is a powerful warning.
- 2:05What appears exciting outside God's will is often
- 2:08a mirage. Temporary pleasure, hiding pain. False
- 2:13freedom, hiding bondage. Excitement, hiding destruction.
- 2:17But this is not a message of condemnation. It
- 2:20is a call to renewal. a call back to intimacy,
- 2:24a call to intentionally protect the fire, the
- 2:28passion, the reverence, and the excitement for
- 2:31God, before drifting quietly turns into spiritual
- 2:34decay. A deeply prophetic, pastoral, and relatable
- 2:38conversation for believers, leaders, servants,
- 2:41ministers, and anyone who has ever felt spiritually
- 2:44tired while still trying to remain faithful,
- 2:47because many spiritual falls do not begin with
- 2:50rebellion. They begin when the fire slowly fades.
- 2:59Welcome to Pomoja Podcast, a ministry of Life
- 3:02of Christ International, where we build stronger
- 3:04lives, deeper faith, and Christ -centered foundations,
- 3:08one story, one message, and one revelation at
- 3:11a time. I'm your host, Barry Mwamba. Welcome
- 3:13back to another episode of Pomoja Podcast. In
- 3:16our previous episode... We addressed something
- 3:19many believers silently experience. Physical
- 3:22exhaustion. Fatigue. The pressure of constantly
- 3:25moving, constantly serving, constantly working,
- 3:28constantly carrying responsibilities, constantly
- 3:31pouring into others, until the body and even
- 3:34the mind become tired. And we discovered something
- 3:37important. Exhaustion is not always harmless.
- 3:40Sometimes, fatigue becomes a sophisticated weapon
- 3:43of the enemy. Not necessarily through obvious
- 3:46sin, but through constant pressure, constant
- 3:49activity, constant busyness, constant distraction,
- 3:53until the believer slowly loses time with God,
- 3:57intimacy with God, discipline, discernment, and
- 4:00spiritual sensitivity. And we establish something
- 4:03clearly. Being tired is not a sin. Even Jesus
- 4:07became physically exhausted. After teaching,
- 4:10healing, serving multitudes, pouring into people,
- 4:13Jesus entered the boat and fell asleep. But today,
- 4:17I want to go deeper. Because physical exhaustion
- 4:19is not the only exhaustion Christians experience.
- 4:22There is another exhaustion, far more dangerous.
- 4:26Spiritual weariness. And today, I want you to
- 4:29listen carefully. Because this message touches
- 4:32a reality almost every believer will face at
- 4:34some point in their spiritual journey. Because
- 4:37this message is not only about being spiritually
- 4:39tired, it is about something deeper. The loss
- 4:43of excitement. The fading of passion. the fading
- 4:47of spiritual fire, the loss of freshness, the
- 4:51danger of over familiarity. Because many believers
- 4:54do not suddenly leave God, they drift, slowly,
- 4:58quietly, subtly. And most of the time, the drift
- 5:02begins when the excitement fades. The excitement
- 5:05to pray, the excitement to worship, the excitement
- 5:09to seek God, the excitement to congregate, the
- 5:12excitement to hear His voice, the excitement
- 5:15to serve Him. Everything starts beautifully.
- 5:18When people first come to Christ, there is fire.
- 5:21There is joy, passion, hunger, excitement. You
- 5:26want to pray all the time, read the Bible all
- 5:28the time, go to church all the time, talk about
- 5:31Jesus all the time, be around believers all the
- 5:34time. You feel alive spiritually, but then reality
- 5:39appears. You start discovering that churches
- 5:41are filled with imperfect people. You discover
- 5:44weaknesses in believers, weaknesses in leaders,
- 5:48weaknesses in ministers, frictions between brothers
- 5:51and sisters, hidden sins, compromises, church
- 5:56politics, character issues, disappointments,
- 6:00betrayals, offenses, hypocrisy, and slowly the
- 6:04excitement begins to fade. The passion weakens,
- 6:08the fire weakens, the freshness weakens. And
- 6:11this is where many believers become vulnerable,
- 6:14because human beings naturally become weary quickly.
- 6:17Human nature constantly searches for what feels
- 6:20new, fresh, different, exciting. And when believers
- 6:24lose excitement about God's kingdom, lose passion
- 6:27for Christian life, lose spiritual freshness,
- 6:31wandering begins. But there is something dangerous
- 6:34many people do not realize. What looks exciting
- 6:37on the other side is often a mirage. an illusion,
- 6:42empty satisfaction, temporary pleasure, false
- 6:45freedom. It promises fulfillment, but never satisfies
- 6:49the soul. Instead, it produces pain, brokenness,
- 6:55confusion, humiliation, bondage, disappointment,
- 6:59division, spiritual emptiness, and eventually,
- 7:03death. That is why the story of the Prodigal
- 7:05Son is so powerful. The prodigal son believed
- 7:09the grass was greener on the other side. He wanted
- 7:12freedom, excitement, new experiences, distance
- 7:16from the father's house. And for a moment, it
- 7:19probably looked exciting until reality appeared.
- 7:23The pleasure disappeared. The money disappeared.
- 7:26The friends disappeared. The excitement disappeared.
- 7:30And suddenly, he found himself empty, hungry,
- 7:34broken, humiliated. lost. And one of the most
- 7:39powerful parts of that story is the Father. Because
- 7:42the Father waited for him. Why? Because he already
- 7:46knew what existed on the other side. The Father
- 7:49understood that eventually, illusion collapses.
- 7:52And when the Son returned, the Father did not
- 7:55interrogate him endlessly. Why? Because experience
- 7:59itself had already taught the Son. His face already
- 8:02revealed that he understood. That is why Jesus
- 8:05came. That is why so many of his parables focus
- 8:07on the lost. The lost sheep, the lost coin, the
- 8:11prodigal son. Because Jesus understood the tendency
- 8:14of humanity to drift, to wander, to search elsewhere,
- 8:19to believe fulfillment exists away from God.
- 8:22But Jesus came as the shepherd of lost sheep.
- 8:25Not only for one sheep, but for the entire world.
- 8:28And today, I speak this message not only through
- 8:31scripture, but through experience. This is one
- 8:34of the lessons God taught me personally through
- 8:35life. And today, God placed on my heart the mission
- 8:39to sound the alarm. To tell as many people as
- 8:42possible, there is nothing on the other side
- 8:45except deception and death. The enemy advertises
- 8:48excitement while hiding destruction. He shows
- 8:51pleasure while hiding bondage. He shows freedom
- 8:54while hiding chains. He shows excitement while
- 8:58hiding emptiness. And this is why Galatians 6
- 9:00.9 is so powerful. Let us not grow weary in doing
- 9:04good. Paul acknowledged something important.
- 9:07Believers can grow weary, even in well doing,
- 9:10not in evil doing, not in rebellion, in well
- 9:13doing. Meaning, faithful Christians, serving
- 9:16Christians, committed Christians, good believers,
- 9:19can become weary spiritually. And this principle
- 9:22exists in every area of life. Marriages fail
- 9:25because of it. Businesses fail because of it.
- 9:28Ministries fail because of it. Churches fail
- 9:31because of it. Leaders fail because of it. Students
- 9:34abandon dreams because of it. People quit purpose
- 9:37because of it. Because one of the hardest things
- 9:39in life is not starting something. It is maintaining
- 9:42the fire, keeping the passion alive, keeping
- 9:46the excitement alive, keeping the commitment
- 9:48alive, keeping the freshness alive. And that
- 9:52is why intentionality is necessary spiritually.
- 9:55You must become intentional about your spiritual
- 9:57fire, intentional about intimacy, intentional
- 10:00about prayer. Intentional about worship. Intentional
- 10:04about remaining sensitive to God. Because spiritual
- 10:07fire does not maintain itself automatically.
- 10:10The flower is beautiful today, then tomorrow
- 10:12it fades. But creation itself teaches renewal.
- 10:16Another flower blooms again. Fresh colors appear
- 10:19again. Fresh beauty appears again. Spiritually,
- 10:23God designed us the same way. We need renewal.
- 10:26Daily renewal. Daily refreshing. Daily filling.
- 10:30Daily alignment. That is why Jesus commanded
- 10:33believers to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
- 10:35Because he understood human nature. He understood
- 10:38weariness. He understood how easily human beings
- 10:41become spiritually dry. And this is where many
- 10:44believers make a dangerous mistake. They continue
- 10:46serving publicly while neglecting private renewal.
- 10:50Still preaching, still singing, still leading,
- 10:52still functioning, still active externally. But
- 10:56internally, the spirit is drying slowly. And
- 10:59because gifts are still operating, They assume
- 11:01everything is fine, not always, because God can
- 11:04still use someone for his purpose while that
- 11:07person is drifting internally. Sola still sat
- 11:10on the throne after heaven rejected him. Samson
- 11:12still looked strong before realizing that the
- 11:15spirit of God had departed from him. And Samson
- 11:17is one of the greatest examples of spiritual
- 11:20weariness. People focus on Delilah, but before
- 11:23Delilah, there was exhaustion. A man constantly
- 11:26fighting battles, constantly carrying strength.
- 11:30constantly under pressure, constantly confronting
- 11:33enemies, and eventually, he looked for rest.
- 11:36And because discernment weakened, he rested his
- 11:39head in the wrong place. That is prophetic. Because
- 11:42many believers today are not necessarily searching
- 11:45for sin first, they are searching for relief,
- 11:48comfort, rest, escape from pressure, silence
- 11:52from emotional exhaustion. And the enemy, seeing
- 11:55their weariness, carefully prepares the wrong
- 11:58environment. the wrong relationships, the wrong
- 12:01voices, the wrong place of rest, because the
- 12:04enemy plays the long game. Not every attack is
- 12:07immediate destruction. Some attacks are slow
- 12:10erosion, slow drifting, slow disconnection, slow
- 12:15spiritual numbness. Like the lost sheep in Luke
- 12:1815, the sheep did not become lost instantly.
- 12:21It wandered away, step by step, little by little.
- 12:25And many believers today are not running away
- 12:27from God aggressively. They are drifting slowly.
- 12:31And one of the greatest causes of spiritual drifting
- 12:33is over familiarity, getting too used to the
- 12:36things of God. That is what destroyed the sons
- 12:39of Eli. They stayed around holy things so long
- 12:42that holiness stopped feeling holy. The presence
- 12:45became common. The altar became common. The service
- 12:49became common. The sacred became ordinary. And
- 12:52over familiarity destroys reverence. not only
- 12:55spiritually, even naturally. Overfamiliarity
- 12:59destroys marriages, destroys respect, destroys
- 13:02honor, destroys value. And spiritually, when
- 13:05believers lose reverence, spiritual decay begins
- 13:08quietly. So what is the solution? Intentionality.
- 13:12Daily renewal. Daily pursuit of God. Daily surrender.
- 13:16Daily intimacy. Daily protecting the fire. Seek
- 13:19God intentionally. Pray intentionally. Protect
- 13:23your atmosphere intentionally. Feed your spirit
- 13:26intentionally because many believers feed their
- 13:29soul constantly while starving their spirit entertainment
- 13:33distractions opinions social media noise pressure
- 13:38Meanwhile the spirit receives very little and
- 13:41eventually the soul becomes stronger than the
- 13:43spirit Feed your spirit more than your soul remain
- 13:47around God's atmosphere remain around worship
- 13:50remain around his word remain around his presence
- 13:53And never become too familiar with God. Never
- 13:56treat His presence casually. Never treat worship
- 13:59casually. Never treat prayer casually. Never
- 14:02treat the anointing casually. Because the fire
- 14:05must be maintained intentionally. And maybe,
- 14:08that is why God brought you to this episode today.
- 14:11Not to condemn you, but to awaken you. To renew
- 14:15you. To restore your fire. To restore your passion.
- 14:19To restore your excitement for Him again. because
- 14:21many spiritual falls do not begin with rebellion.
- 14:24They begin when the fire slowly fades. So before
- 14:28we close, let us pray. Father, in the name of
- 14:32Jesus, I pray for every person listening to this
- 14:35message today, every tired believer, every exhausted
- 14:38servant, every discouraged Christian, every soul
- 14:42silently drifting. Father, restore them. Restore
- 14:46the fire. Restore the passion. Restore the excitement
- 14:49for your presence again. Where prayer became
- 14:52routine, bring intimacy again. Where worship
- 14:55became performance, bring reverence again. Where
- 14:58the spirit became dry, send fresh oil again.
- 15:02Father, we reject spiritual complacency. We reject
- 15:06over -familiarity with holy things. We reject
- 15:09every slow drift away from your presence. Teach
- 15:12us to protect the fire intentionally. Teach us
- 15:15to seek you intentionally. Teach us to dwell
- 15:18in your presence daily. Holy Spirit, renew our
- 15:22strength, renew our hunger, renew our sensitivity,
- 15:26renew our discernment. And for every person who
- 15:29started wandering, for every prodigal son, for
- 15:32every prodigal daughter, for every lost sheep,
- 15:35Lord, bring them back home. Open their eyes before
- 15:39destruction comes. Reveal every mirage of the
- 15:42enemy. Reveal every false excitement. Reveal
- 15:45every hidden trap. And Father, Let this generation
- 15:49fall in love with you again, not with religion,
- 15:52not with appearances, not with performance, but
- 15:55with your presence, because at the end of everything,
- 15:59nothing satisfies the soul like you. In Jesus'
- 16:02name, Amen. And remember this, protect your fire,
- 16:07protect your intimacy with God, protect your
- 16:10sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, because the enemy
- 16:12does not always attack immediately. Sometimes,
- 16:16he waits for the fire to fade. Do not drift.
- 16:19Renew yourself daily. Seek God intentionally
- 16:22and remain close to His presence. Thank you for
