- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, everybody, Brian Smith here with the I&T series, and your daily influence, and today we are going to be talking about the power of quiet influence.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: And really what that means is how do we lead without loudness while still applying smart hands?
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: Again, as you always hear me say, smart is the foundation of what we like to do here at the I&T series and also at I&A Business Advisors.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: Quiet influence goes a long-width delegation that's a way of getting us out of the way and transferring leadership and responsibility and accountability of tasks, not accountability of leadership tasks through the organization and
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, one thing that quiet influence, quiet leadership builds is sustainable trust and and it's sustainable culture.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's really important that we understand what that means.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, in our first book and individual influence, we talk about authentic influence.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know, being aware, having awareness,
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: of what our responsibility is, how to convey that in a very smart way.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: Not about how big and bold and loud and overpowering we are if we're micro managers or if we're, you know, the smartest or biggest person in the room.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: Really, we're quietly using cells and listening empathy, being intentional, listening first,
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking purposefully when it adds value, not value to us, but value to what the mission is and value to the each individual that's there, building them up in that is what builds this deep trust over time.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: And when we're this intentional in these environments, we don't have to talk as much, we allow others to do that for us and.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: But we listen more, we can align better with the organizations' needs.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: Our organizations' needs are tied to our individual's needs.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: So we can have a clear vision.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: We can develop better strategies because we understand our team better.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: We understand their capabilities the way they think, the way they share the way they lead.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: And when we do this, we don't bring surface noise.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: to the environment.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: Our surface noise isn't the influence.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's the collective tactical communications smart communication that goes on while we're quiet and our teams are working that build us into a sustainable viable organization.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: look quite influenced doesn't demand the room, it invites the room to rise.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: When we walk in and we allow them to keep doing what they're doing, we listen and support, we bring them up.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: It looks smart execution also thrives on discipline, on assuming leadership.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: What that means is loudness can drown out clarity.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: Smart execution and traction depends on leaders, stay in calm, stay in focused, remaining consistent.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: Even when we hear things, we may not agree with that people finish.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: Listen to them.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't understand it,
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: It might be contextual, ask for contextual understanding.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: Often the very traits of quiet influencers, our these abilities to stay calm, stay quiet through opportunities and through areas of influence where we might not agree, but we hold back just a little longer, ask very thoughtful, intentional questions, give people what they mean,
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: to explain what it is they're trying to do, what it is they're trying to have influence over.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: Give them that chance.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: Don't take it away.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: It also helps us by being reliable.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: When we act like this in these environments, people can rely on us to support them.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: We rely on us to ask questions or answer questions in a way that elevates them to think and to bring their best self.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: but also allows for us to guide precision, guide consistency.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: And when we do that with ourselves, we help them to do it also.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: And by asking the things that need to be asked, by supporting along the way, by listening to learning and engaging in a way that elevates them, we're going to raise their influence with ultimately Bloray's ours.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you what, it can be dramatically performative to see our teams grow in this way when we lead them that way.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: And you'll find, by the way, when you do this, that they come to you and ask really good questions, and they begin making really good decisions.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: So when we connect this to process optimization, quite leaders will follow through methodically, but we lead by example process optimization is not do as I say, not as I do.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's do as I do.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I do exactly how I want my team to perform.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: It supports data driven decision management.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: So what does that mean?
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: It means that facts speak loud.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: They overcome emotion, and they keep the team anchored in things that they can get their head around and believe in.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: And it does that to a point where they begin to engage the data, they get to engage the measurables and use those to come up with ideas, strategies, and maybe even better tactics for ourselves in the future.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: when their actions echo louder than words ever could make your actions be what your team sees, make your actions consistent, make them supportive, make them on the lifting, help your teams to grow by performing as you want them to perform.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: And you will see your teams grow and you will notice that you become the quiet influence,
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: to the new levels and milestones that you're looking for.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: Hope you have enjoyed today's talk and I hope you have an amazing day.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
