- 0:07SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Daily Writer, where we share a lesson each day to help you cultivate the habits for creative success.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: If you spend a lot of time around entrepreneurs or marketers, you can sometimes get the sense that writing is a one-dimensional pursuit that only has value if it brings you business results.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Well, it's true.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Writing can get you more consulting clients, a bigger audience, and more credibility and authority in your industry or niche.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: You can also make money with your books, as well as with other products and services that are based on your books.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: A book or other content you create can absolutely help build your business and bring you all kinds of external rewards.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: But there is another dimension to writing.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: It doesn't focus on the external but rather on the internal.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Henry Miller put it best when he said, writing is its own reward.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: In other words, writing is worth doing even if nothing else comes of it.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: But how so?
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Well, there are three specific ways that writing rewards us internally.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: First, you did something hard.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Most people don't write simply because it requires thought and energy, but you did it, and that's something to be proud of.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Second, you expressed yourself.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: You wrote about something you believed, you shared some knowledge, or maybe you even shared an unpopular point of view.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: All of that takes courage.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: And third, you created something.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Whether it was fiction or nonfiction, you explored your curiosity by taking the thoughts in your head and putting them into words that can add value to others.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Well done.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Make no mistake, those external rewards that can come from writing are super valuable.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: But don't dismiss the internal rewards that can help you be more confident and successful.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Writing is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Well, speaking of gifts that keep on giving, let me share something that definitely helps you in that regard.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And I'm talking about the Daily Writer community.
