Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Playfake, go to roll right, dumps it off into the
- 0:07Speaker 2: right flass to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off a one
- 0:10Speaker 2: tackler catch inside the forty down of the thirty five
- 0:13Speaker 2: yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Matt pumpfake's looking at the go line, he throws it
- 0:17Speaker 3: into the end zone. Touchdown. Say Hawks, it's Michael.
- 0:21Speaker 4: Bumps with a diving catching the end zone on ten
- 0:24Speaker 4: yard touchdown reception for Bumpers, and the kid out of
- 0:27Speaker 4: Washington State has found himself a place on this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now here's your host, Nasa Chobie.
- 0:35Speaker 5: It was one hell of a night as the Seahawks
- 0:37Speaker 5: takedown in the New York Football Giants twenty four to
- 0:40Speaker 5: three on Monday Night football. And it was a great night.
- 0:43Speaker 5: The stars were out and the Seahawks showed up and
- 0:46Speaker 5: showed out this defense, the offense. Everyone showed up to
- 0:49Speaker 5: play in New York City. And we're gonna get right
- 0:51Speaker 5: into it with what had happened. See what happened at first, or.
- 0:57Speaker 1: What had happened was on Hawk Talk.
- 1:00Speaker 5: Bump This had me feel an old school dog Pete
- 1:03Speaker 5: Carroll Seahawks defense a beat down start to finish, suffocating,
- 1:08Speaker 5: getting no yards, taking the ball away, big hits, and man,
- 1:13Speaker 5: it's been a while that I can remember a defensive
- 1:15Speaker 5: performance like we saw. It's been years, honestly, you know,
- 1:19Speaker 5: having Jamal come back and the energy around it and
- 1:22Speaker 5: Spoon and everything. We saw, man, but in typical Seahawks faction.
- 1:26Speaker 5: It was still kind of a funky primetime game that
- 1:28Speaker 5: the Hawks were involved in. But I'm just really excited
- 1:30Speaker 5: when I got to see Bump because it showed me, Man,
- 1:33Speaker 5: the features bright with this team. Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 6: Man, you look at the record and you're like, all right,
- 1:37Speaker 6: two of one, who is this team?
- 1:39Speaker 5: Are they for real?
- 1:40Speaker 6: But then you can't forget that their record on Monday
- 1:42Speaker 6: Night is crazy when it comes to primetime games. Pete
- 1:45Speaker 6: does a good job of getting these guys ready to go.
- 1:48Speaker 6: So they start the game and the tone was said early, right,
- 1:51Speaker 6: the Giants going eleven, play forty eight yard drive and
- 1:54Speaker 6: they get stopped on fourth down as Daniel Joe just
- 1:56Speaker 6: trying to do a little push toush little QB sneak
- 1:58Speaker 6: and Draymond Jones and Brooks shut that down. Automatically. But
- 2:02Speaker 6: this night was all about the return of Jamal Adams. Right,
- 2:04Speaker 6: Everyone's excited. Jamal is gonna be great to see what
- 2:07Speaker 6: he does, and early he was great, got his hands
- 2:09Speaker 6: on Hi quarterback, could have a sack, had a big tackle.
- 2:13Speaker 6: I remember Rabel sam that whoever he tackled gona need
- 2:15Speaker 6: some dental work done. He hit the mark and then
- 2:19Speaker 6: a few plays later he's going down to hit Daniel
- 2:22Speaker 6: Jones Low looked like he might have slipped a little bit.
- 2:24Speaker 6: Dann Joe's knees him in the head. You knew as
- 2:27Speaker 6: soon as he got hit that he was concussed.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Yeah, that was a really hard scene. We were kind
- 2:32Speaker 5: of painting a picture though. Pole pre and post game
- 2:34Speaker 5: crewis together, including Jordan Babno and Brian Walters, rolled together
- 2:37Speaker 5: in this big conference room watching that. Yeah, and the
- 2:39Speaker 5: second you saw the tackle on the contact and he
- 2:41Speaker 5: kind of stayed down, your heart just sank. At least
- 2:43Speaker 5: for me personally, because I haven't been there through everything.
- 2:47Speaker 5: But I remember seeing Jamal when he came back after
- 2:49Speaker 5: tearing his squad a couple of games into the year
- 2:51Speaker 5: on a wheelchair, and just to see his journeying and
- 2:53Speaker 5: hear him at his press conference last week talking about
- 2:55Speaker 5: everything he went through, reaching down and his kneecap wasn't there,
- 2:59Speaker 5: not being able to go to the bathroom by himself,
- 3:01Speaker 5: not being able to do all those things, and for
- 3:02Speaker 5: her to finally come back in New York, the stage
- 3:05Speaker 5: was set. I just wanted him to ball out and
- 3:07Speaker 5: have the best night possible, and he showed his impact.
- 3:10Speaker 5: His impact was real through that first drive and you
- 3:12Speaker 5: could see all the things that were gonna happen for him,
- 3:14Speaker 5: and it's just just a bummer, and that's just that's life,
- 3:18Speaker 5: I guess. Man, I'm just so Jamal. He's severing a concussion.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Pete Carroll said he should be back after the bye week.
- 3:25Speaker 5: So definitely, even though it's a little glimpse bump, I'm
- 3:27Speaker 5: still excited about what Jamal could bring to this team.
- 3:31Speaker 6: Yeah, definitely. You saw the energy, you saw the passion.
- 3:34Speaker 6: You saw him playing fast too, so you should be
- 3:36Speaker 6: good to go. All right, So we got past that,
- 3:38Speaker 6: and then let's talk about the next three drives that
- 3:40Speaker 6: wore in on punts for both teams in the Seahawks.
- 3:42Speaker 5: Were just killed by penalties.
- 3:44Speaker 6: Man, there was a holding call that wiped out a
- 3:46Speaker 6: pass of the deference of Tyrol Locket down the field,
- 3:48Speaker 6: but the defense will come through clutchman Mario Edwards gets
- 3:51Speaker 6: his hands on Daniel Jones, little stripsack there. Jordan Brooks
- 3:54Speaker 6: will recover that thing on the Giant seven yard line.
- 3:57Speaker 6: Then two plays later, Gino Smith would fin DK well
- 4:01Speaker 6: almost like it wasn't a no look by DK, but
- 4:03Speaker 6: it was. He was playing possible, all right. The defenders
- 4:05Speaker 6: between him and Geno. DK's looking at Geno, the defender's
- 4:10Speaker 6: not looking. DK keeps his hands to his side. G
- 4:12Speaker 6: know throws a dart to the sideline. Last second, Gino
- 4:15Speaker 6: flashes those hands and scores a touchdown. DK said in
- 4:18Speaker 6: his press conference the first time he's ever done anything
- 4:21Speaker 6: like that, and he gives credit to Tyler Lockett.
- 4:25Speaker 5: That's the hardest thing to defend as a dB. I mean,
- 4:28Speaker 5: when you're doing everything you can as defensive back. The play,
- 4:31Speaker 5: Gino's broken out of the pocket. The play's been going
- 4:33Speaker 5: for about four or five seconds. You feel like you've
- 4:35Speaker 5: been covering for an eternity. You're thinking he almost lowed
- 4:38Speaker 5: them to sleep. He almost kind of relaxed, and then
- 4:40Speaker 5: he flashed those hands laid and just cold cold move
- 4:43Speaker 5: by DK. After that, both teams would have change punts
- 4:46Speaker 5: and the Giants would get back on the board with
- 4:48Speaker 5: a field goal or get on the board making the
- 4:50Speaker 5: score seven to three, and that would be the only
- 4:53Speaker 5: points the Giants would get all night long. Hawks come
- 4:57Speaker 5: right back answer with a seven play seventy five yard
- 4:59Speaker 5: drive that ended with the Ken Walker touchdown that made
- 5:02Speaker 5: the score fourteen to three before halftime. But that wasn't
- 5:05Speaker 5: just any old drive bump that was in your run
- 5:08Speaker 5: of the mill normal seven play touchdown drive. That drive
- 5:11Speaker 5: was led by Drew Lock, who came in for Gino
- 5:14Speaker 5: Smith after he kind of got horse tackled on the sideline.
- 5:17Speaker 5: He's getting his knee checked out, so Drew Lock comes in.
- 5:19Speaker 5: But what else happened? The Seahawks lose Damian Lewis. The
- 5:23Speaker 5: Seahawks lose Phil Haynes. So now you have an offensive
- 5:27Speaker 5: line that features Stone forsythe okay you got Evan Brown
- 5:30Speaker 5: had to move over to guard, olu Olo Timmy comes
- 5:32Speaker 5: in at center, Anthony Bradford stets back in there at guard,
- 5:35Speaker 5: and then you have Jake Kerhan. So this is a
- 5:39Speaker 5: unit that's never been out there. This would have been
- 5:40Speaker 5: a unit that might have been the second or third
- 5:42Speaker 5: three in preseason. Here they are in an NFL game
- 5:45Speaker 5: on Monday night, football, killing the game, keeping this team
- 5:48Speaker 5: above water and going down and get a touchdown drive.
- 5:50Speaker 5: So it's just I just love to see that. And
- 5:53Speaker 5: I was super happy for Drew lock Man. He saw
- 5:55Speaker 5: a smile on his face, saw Pete walk over them,
- 5:57Speaker 5: give a little fist bump, and I'm just like, man,
- 5:59Speaker 5: that's gotta feel so good for that guy who comes
- 6:00Speaker 5: in prepares every single day like he's going to be
- 6:02Speaker 5: the starter. So for him to get in and make
- 6:04Speaker 5: a couple of big plays. He found Noah for that
- 6:08Speaker 5: long fifty one yard game, and then Ken punches in
- 6:11Speaker 5: after that. So it's definitely really cool to see those
- 6:12Speaker 5: guys get out there and still allow this offense to
- 6:15Speaker 5: function and do good things. Yeah, I felt good with
- 6:18Speaker 5: you out there.
- 6:19Speaker 6: I didn't feel like he was overwhelmed or not in
- 6:21Speaker 6: control of the situation. You look at his numbers, you
- 6:23Speaker 6: could say, oh, well, he didn't do much. He was
- 6:24Speaker 6: two for six, But there are a couple throws he
- 6:27Speaker 6: had that I felt like were catchable. There's one to
- 6:29Speaker 6: Tyle Lockett on the sideline. Another one to Jim. This
- 6:32Speaker 6: dude has not seen regular season action since Week seventeen
- 6:37Speaker 6: of the twenty twenty one season, so it was nice
- 6:39Speaker 6: to see him out there. After the scoring drive, the
- 6:42Speaker 6: Hawks had turned the ball over on downs after good driving,
- 6:44Speaker 6: then go three and out on the fallowing possession. The
- 6:47Speaker 6: Giants would start moving the ball moving it picked up
- 6:52Speaker 6: first downs on two or three consecutive third downs, and
- 6:56Speaker 6: then the guy who set the tone for this game,
- 6:58Speaker 6: I feel like on defense comes with the biggest play
- 7:00Speaker 6: the season so far, and your number five pick, Devin
- 7:03Speaker 6: Witherspoon picks off Daniel Jones runs it back ninety seven
- 7:07Speaker 6: yards for a touchdown. They made it twenty one to
- 7:09Speaker 6: three and pretty much ended the game with some time
- 7:12Speaker 6: left in the third quarter.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Great play by that young man.
- 7:16Speaker 3: He was.
- 7:16Speaker 5: He had two sacks.
- 7:17Speaker 6: We'll talk about the stats again later, had two sacks
- 7:21Speaker 6: and that pick six. I wouldn't say it's a coming
- 7:23Speaker 6: out party because I think that if you watch the Seahawks,
- 7:25Speaker 6: you kind of see what this dude is capable of already.
- 7:28Speaker 5: But he found a way to put it all together
- 7:29Speaker 5: on Monday. Oh the bright lights man. It couldn't have
- 7:32Speaker 5: happened in a better place or a better time slot,
- 7:34Speaker 5: because you got the nation watching. Everyone's looking out for
- 7:36Speaker 5: this kid. For some reason, some people were questioning why
- 7:39Speaker 5: the Seahawks went this way at number five. Well, you're
- 7:42Speaker 5: not questioning that anymore, right, the rest of the nation
- 7:45Speaker 5: kind of learned what Seahawks fans already knew, who've been
- 7:47Speaker 5: watching him last couple of weeks. If this guy's a dog.
- 7:49Speaker 5: There's a reason you with the film, it jumps out.
- 7:51Speaker 5: There's a reason Pete Carroll compared him to Troy polam
- 7:53Speaker 5: all with that's not an accident, and we got to
- 7:55Speaker 5: see that on Monday night, So I love that. And
- 7:57Speaker 5: then defensively, there is bald out come on now for context, everybody,
- 8:03Speaker 5: the NFL record is fourteen and if we're being real,
- 8:07Speaker 5: the Seahawks could have broke it. There was a couple
- 8:08Speaker 5: of plays where they just missed him or they tackled
- 8:11Speaker 5: him and he got back to line of scrimmage or
- 8:13Speaker 5: a yard or two, so they were bowing out. Then
- 8:15Speaker 5: Quandre Diggs gets him an interception and they just smothered
- 8:19Speaker 5: Daniel Jones all night.
- 8:20Speaker 7: Man.
- 8:20Speaker 5: It was unreal. And during the broadcast. We heard so
- 8:23Speaker 5: much about how the Giants are missing linemen. The Seahawks
- 8:26Speaker 5: missed their entire line. Know one was playing their position.
- 8:29Speaker 5: But when we started the season against the Rams and
- 8:31Speaker 5: the Seahawks gave up two sacks, they gave up eleven.
- 8:34Speaker 5: So I don't know, man, it was just really cool
- 8:35Speaker 5: to see the defense perform the way they did.
- 8:39Speaker 6: Defense doing what they gotta do, and then the Hawks
- 8:42Speaker 6: doing it once again at Medlfe Stadium. They are now
- 8:44Speaker 6: six and zero at that stadium. You know they might
- 8:48Speaker 6: own some real estate over there as much as they've
- 8:50Speaker 6: been winning over there the past few years. And like
- 8:52Speaker 6: I said a Monday Night Football, the Hawks are twenty
- 8:54Speaker 6: nine and seventeen.
- 8:55Speaker 5: That's the best winning percentage in the game.
- 8:58Speaker 6: On Monday Night Football also passed Mike Holmgren for fifteenth
- 9:02Speaker 6: place on the NFL's all time winning his coach list
- 9:04Speaker 6: with one hundred and seventy five of those things. And lastly,
- 9:07Speaker 6: dk Ty, Steve large And, and Joey Gallaway for first place
- 9:10Speaker 6: for most receiving touchdowns in the players first five seasons
- 9:13Speaker 6: in franchise history. Man, good night, overall Pete gets some love.
- 9:17Speaker 6: We'll just will get some love, the team gets some love.
- 9:19Speaker 6: Undefeated that at MetLife and then DK doing DK things. Man,
- 9:23Speaker 6: good nights for the Seahawks. Put the nation don't.
- 9:27Speaker 5: Notice, love to see it, Love to see what the
- 9:30Speaker 5: Seahawks are doing. Three and zero rolling into the bye week,
- 9:32Speaker 5: and this is great. We just had a meeting earlier today.
- 9:34Speaker 5: And when you win with going into the bye week,
- 9:36Speaker 5: it feels like a two week win. You get to
- 9:38Speaker 5: simmern and have that feeling for a little bit longer. Man,
- 9:41Speaker 5: But so great to see. But let's go back into
- 9:43Speaker 5: this game and figure out who may plays.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Touch playmakers told him what time it is?
- 9:54Speaker 5: Holy holy Catfitch is right. We heard that from these
- 9:58Speaker 5: guys in the field we talked about. I'm already Devin Witherspoon.
- 10:01Speaker 5: I mentioned it. Anyone who doubted why John Schneider in
- 10:04Speaker 5: this scouting department picked Devin Wetherspoon with a fifth overall pick.
- 10:08Speaker 5: That should be put to bed. I mean, if you're
- 10:10Speaker 5: not paying attention right now, John Schneider and the rest
- 10:12Speaker 5: of that team know what they're doing. They saw the
- 10:15Speaker 5: athlete that Devin Witherspoon is and the instinctual player that
- 10:18Speaker 5: he was, and we got to see that in full display.
- 10:20Speaker 5: Seven tackles, two sacks, two TFLs, one pass defend, and
- 10:24Speaker 5: three QB hits ninety seven yard pick six. That's the
- 10:27Speaker 5: second longest interception return in Seahawk's history since sacks became
- 10:31Speaker 5: an official stat in nineteen eighty two. Witherspoon was the
- 10:34Speaker 5: twenty seventh player with two sacks and a pick six
- 10:38Speaker 5: in a regular season or postseason game, and just the
- 10:40Speaker 5: third rookie to accomplish that feat. Man, when you walked
- 10:45Speaker 5: away from that game, Bump, you're like, Devin Witherspoon, at
- 10:48Speaker 5: least for the majority of that game, was the best
- 10:50Speaker 5: player on the field, which is saying something when you're
- 10:53Speaker 5: sharing that field with Bobby Wagner, with how Jordan Brooks
- 10:57Speaker 5: have been playing Jay Reid obviously on offense, Geno Ken,
- 11:01Speaker 5: whatever position doesn't matter. Witherspoon balled out and I just
- 11:06Speaker 5: his explosiveness. Boom and it's a short burst. It's here
- 11:10Speaker 5: the one big hit he had on the running back
- 11:11Speaker 5: where he comes in and runs support. You're blitzing him
- 11:14Speaker 5: off the edge and you look at guy with his frame,
- 11:16Speaker 5: You wouldn't think that you would have the physicality that
- 11:20Speaker 5: he does. You would not think about it, But man,
- 11:22Speaker 5: does that boy bring the lumber. And it's good to
- 11:24Speaker 5: see because Witherspoon. I'm just excited because now the possibilities
- 11:28Speaker 5: are endless. Because I'll throw a little shout out to
- 11:31Speaker 5: Mike Jackson, who started and or played a lot when
- 11:33Speaker 5: Spoon went into the slot, because he's just so versatile.
- 11:36Speaker 5: But as guys get healthy, there's gonna be so many
- 11:38Speaker 5: opposits in that secondary. And if now Witherspoon is taking
- 11:42Speaker 5: the ball away, good luck team. Good luck team's out there,
- 11:44Speaker 5: because it's gonna get nasty in the Seahawks secondary.
- 11:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I think this kind of calms down the should
- 11:49Speaker 6: have taken Jalen Carter talk because he has more sacks
- 11:53Speaker 6: than Jalen Carter and he also has a touchdown to
- 11:56Speaker 6: the house. No, great to see Witherspoon set the tone.
- 11:59Speaker 6: That's exactly what he did. Manber old Man Bobby Wagner
- 12:02Speaker 6: had himself a day two seventeen tackles, two sacks, two TFLs,
- 12:05Speaker 6: two quarterback hits, and on Monday night, he passed Cortes
- 12:09Speaker 6: Kennedy for eighth place in the franchise history with one
- 12:11Speaker 6: hundred and fifty four games start man, thirty three years old,
- 12:14Speaker 6: twelfth season in the league, and he is still getting
- 12:17Speaker 6: it done. I think the PFF had him rated as
- 12:20Speaker 6: having the best game overall, which is crazy after seeing
- 12:22Speaker 6: what Witherspoon did. But I think when you accumulate all
- 12:25Speaker 6: of those tackles, you get that to those TFLs and
- 12:28Speaker 6: quarterback hits and sacks, it's all good man.
- 12:31Speaker 5: He found the found the youth on Monday night football.
- 12:34Speaker 2: It.
- 12:34Speaker 5: I mean, I shouldn't be surprised because I've seen so
- 12:37Speaker 5: This is my eighth season with the Seahawks. I've seen
- 12:39Speaker 5: Bobby up close and personal for seven of those seasons,
- 12:42Speaker 5: and my goodness that no one prepares harder than that dude.
- 12:45Speaker 5: No one takes care of his body more than Bobby Wagner.
- 12:48Speaker 5: No one is dedicated to his craft as much as Bobby.
- 12:51Speaker 5: So I'm not surprised, but still, man, at some point,
- 12:54Speaker 5: father time usually comes for you. Bobby Wagner right now
- 12:57Speaker 5: is winning that fight, Bump. He is winning that fight.
- 12:59Speaker 5: We always could be, Bobby, because I'm a one year
- 13:03Speaker 5: younger than him, But I feel like I'm losing at times,
- 13:05Speaker 5: you know, Oh my goodness, But speaking abound the youth,
- 13:10Speaker 5: Jordan Brooks right next to Bobby in there, and he's
- 13:12Speaker 5: just balling out.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Man.
- 13:12Speaker 5: He's playing some of the best football he's done since
- 13:14Speaker 5: we drafted him twenty twenty. Ten tackles, two and a
- 13:17Speaker 5: half or two sacks, one TfL, one QB hit, one
- 13:20Speaker 5: fumble recovery, and he's just he just plays fast and
- 13:23Speaker 5: it's violent and everyone kind of has that attitude. And
- 13:26Speaker 5: for me personally, I think that's the best I've seen
- 13:28Speaker 5: him play. And maybe it's just because you have Bobby
- 13:31Speaker 5: next to him accentuating what he does well, and those
- 13:34Speaker 5: guys can just go out there and play. Your defensive
- 13:36Speaker 5: line is playing well, So I just love what we're
- 13:38Speaker 5: seeing from those guys in lineback and core.
- 13:41Speaker 6: Yeah, LB's are good to go, man. Those edge ruggers
- 13:43Speaker 6: are looking good too. With Jenna Nowelso has six tackles,
- 13:46Speaker 6: two sacks, one TfL and two quarterback kids. He probably
- 13:49Speaker 6: honestly gotta have three or four sacks. But Daniel Jones
- 13:52Speaker 6: is a little bit elusive. He got his paws on
- 13:54Speaker 6: him and he escaped and then his partner and crime man,
- 13:56Speaker 6: you got Mario Edwards over. They have three tackles, one sack,
- 13:59Speaker 6: one pass definite, two quarterback hits in one force fumble.
- 14:02Speaker 6: It seemed like if you played in the box, you
- 14:06Speaker 6: got a sack or TfL or something like that. Also,
- 14:09Speaker 6: Boy and Mafe got in on the mix too, He
- 14:11Speaker 6: could have had a couple.
- 14:12Speaker 5: He ended up with one overall.
- 14:14Speaker 6: Man the Seahawks defense, they tied to the team record
- 14:17Speaker 6: for saxon the game with eleven. Last time they did
- 14:19Speaker 6: that was nineteen eighty six versus the La Raiders. Man
- 14:23Speaker 6: had ten TFLs, four passes defendive, fourteen quarterback hits, three
- 14:28Speaker 6: forced turnovers, and they held the Giants to two hundred
- 14:30Speaker 6: and forty eight yards and two big forced down stops.
- 14:34Speaker 6: It was all about the defense. Offense didn't have to
- 14:36Speaker 6: do much. Now you look at the yards. It wasn't great.
- 14:39Speaker 6: That did enough, but the defense really held it down.
- 14:42Speaker 5: I said it to open the show. That performance made
- 14:44Speaker 5: you feel like some old school Seahawks football. It was physical.
- 14:47Speaker 5: They got after guys and if they they're just gonna
- 14:49Speaker 5: build confidence. You put tape out there like that and
- 14:52Speaker 5: guys start feeling good, it's gonna be a great thing.
- 14:54Speaker 5: And you mentioned the offense, Man, it's rare bump that
- 14:58Speaker 5: we get you know, ten players deep or however we
- 15:00Speaker 5: just mentioned before we mentioned an offensive player. I mean
- 15:04Speaker 5: that's what was going down. I mean ken Walker, he
- 15:06Speaker 5: had a nice day, seventeen carries, seventy nine yards, one touchdown.
- 15:10Speaker 5: Noah Fan had two receptions for sixty three yards, including
- 15:13Speaker 5: that fifty one yard reception that set up a ken
- 15:15Speaker 5: Walker touchdown. So these guys played well. And I mentioned
- 15:20Speaker 5: it earlier, this offensive line has been just you know,
- 15:24Speaker 5: were they perfect? Did they all grade out at one
- 15:26Speaker 5: hundred percent?
- 15:27Speaker 3: No?
- 15:28Speaker 5: But they were playing against some dogs. Did The New
- 15:30Speaker 5: York Giants have some great interior linemen and they Thibodeaux
- 15:34Speaker 5: is another guy that just took him in top five,
- 15:36Speaker 5: So they have some dogs in there. And once again
- 15:38Speaker 5: they hold up two sacks. Were playing without four starters
- 15:41Speaker 5: and Evan Brown who goes from playing center two guard.
- 15:43Speaker 5: I promise he probably hasn't been getting a lot of
- 15:45Speaker 5: reps at guard, but he's just smart enough that he
- 15:47Speaker 5: just slid in there. You know, it was effortless. It
- 15:49Speaker 5: wasn't like we started having presnat penalties or false starts
- 15:53Speaker 5: or procedural can't get out of the huddle. No Olu
- 15:55Speaker 5: came in didn't miss a beat. Raffos steps in again
- 15:58Speaker 5: for Phil Hans, didn't miss a beat. You know I'm
- 16:00Speaker 5: saying so in fourth Heights day, Kurhand, you doing the
- 16:01Speaker 5: best to continue to hold it down. So shout out
- 16:04Speaker 5: to Andy Dickerson. I heard you talk about this on
- 16:06Speaker 5: your show. I've heard Ray talk about it. Andy needs
- 16:09Speaker 5: some credit because this O line is bawing. He's got
- 16:11Speaker 5: everyone in that room, almost everybody on that room ready
- 16:15Speaker 5: to play. Because only two other guys on the act.
- 16:18Speaker 5: I think only one of the guys in the active
- 16:19Speaker 5: roster didn't get in the game on Monday night. So
- 16:21Speaker 5: that just shows you how well this on line is playing,
- 16:25Speaker 5: his coaching staff, everybody. So big ups there, Bump, and
- 16:29Speaker 5: it wasn't the biggest night for the guys outside Bump.
- 16:32Speaker 5: But let's talk about the receiver round up here.
- 16:35Speaker 6: Yeah, you're right, it wasn't the biggest night, but enough
- 16:37Speaker 6: to get a done. Noah fan Land all receivers. He's
- 16:39Speaker 6: a tight end, but he receives a Rocke had two
- 16:41Speaker 6: receptions for sixty three yards, a long fifty one yard
- 16:45Speaker 6: gain from Drew Locke, and then you got Tyler Lockett.
- 16:48Speaker 6: He had four for fifty four DK three for thirty
- 16:51Speaker 6: four in a touchdown.
- 16:52Speaker 5: Cody Thompson was activated.
- 16:53Speaker 6: He had one for ten, Charvion A one for nine,
- 16:56Speaker 6: and Jackson Smith and Jigbus still trying to get him going.
- 16:58Speaker 6: But he did have six targets. He had three catches
- 17:01Speaker 6: for five yards. But let's go to coaches Quarner Man,
- 17:04Speaker 6: let's break down some film. Let's get it.
- 17:07Speaker 5: We talked about this play. This is one of the
- 17:08Speaker 5: biggest plays from Monday Night. Devin Witherspoon, we talked about it.
- 17:12Speaker 5: The fifth overall pick in the draft finally gets to
- 17:14Speaker 5: show his stuff off to the world on Monday Night
- 17:16Speaker 5: Football is He picks off Daniel Jones and runs back
- 17:19Speaker 5: in ninety seven yards for a touchdown.
- 17:21Speaker 2: So Jones from the shotgun read him beside him in
- 17:24Speaker 2: the backfield, single wide out left with a slot to
- 17:27Speaker 2: the right side. Seeat it looks like they want to
- 17:30Speaker 2: rush four then they do.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Jones is gonna throw pros.
- 17:34Speaker 7: Near side fall pick up weathers food cuts your time
- 17:38Speaker 7: down the sidelines. Joe Chase is gonna be cuts back
- 17:40Speaker 7: inside pitch up lockers.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Show big Chase Weatherspood far time twenty fifty ten FN
- 17:47Speaker 3: He is in Holy.
- 17:49Speaker 7: Catfish Weathers food win a file and a half with.
- 17:54Speaker 3: The interception for a touchdown.
- 17:56Speaker 6: B where you're supposed to be, and sometimes the football
- 17:59Speaker 6: guys will bless with a gift. And that's essentially what
- 18:01Speaker 6: happened to Witherspoon. You're looking at what they got going
- 18:04Speaker 6: right there. I believe that's Tarik Willen outside of him.
- 18:06Speaker 6: He's responsible for the deep third. Now they are on
- 18:09Speaker 6: what the five to six yard line, so there's not
- 18:11Speaker 6: a lot of room for willing to cover on the outside.
- 18:14Speaker 6: But Witherspoon knows he has to fight. He's good to go.
- 18:17Speaker 6: The number two receiver runs kind of like a slide route.
- 18:20Speaker 6: I call it slide because you're going outside back to
- 18:22Speaker 6: end whip you go inside back to out. So the
- 18:24Speaker 6: receiver goes outside of Witherspoon's right shoulder and then he
- 18:28Speaker 6: slides back in. Witherspoon's in great position to make a play.
- 18:32Speaker 6: Now the throw is horrible, and sometimes you just be
- 18:35Speaker 6: where he's supposed to be, like I said, and you
- 18:37Speaker 6: get a gift. Daniel Jones probably should have worked the
- 18:39Speaker 6: back of the end zone to Darren Waller, but he
- 18:41Speaker 6: missed that he was going to.
- 18:42Speaker 5: A slide receiver.
- 18:43Speaker 6: Witherspoon just where he is supposed to be gets a gift,
- 18:47Speaker 6: and now he is gone. And now the funny part
- 18:49Speaker 6: about this is I remember Witherspoon talking postgame about Jay
- 18:53Speaker 6: Love and Rieke Willen making him look slow. I'm just saying,
- 18:57Speaker 6: Rik Willing run a four to two. He gonna run
- 18:59Speaker 6: down anybody. What matters is he made the quarterback miss
- 19:02Speaker 6: look like he was getting gassed around the thirty had
- 19:05Speaker 6: just enough to score the touchdown. That has to be
- 19:07Speaker 6: a great feeling for your first touchdown in the NFL
- 19:10Speaker 6: to go back to the end zone for ninety seven yards.
- 19:13Speaker 5: Good pluck, Oh, no question about it. What I love too,
- 19:15Speaker 5: is you mentioned Brieke and Julian Love. He's Julian Love's
- 19:18Speaker 5: reason this is a touchdown because you mentioned it. Witherspoon
- 19:21Speaker 5: gets a little tired around the thirty yard line and
- 19:23Speaker 5: Julian Love is not even in the picture at first,
- 19:26Speaker 5: and he comes out of nowhere and gets upfield from
- 19:28Speaker 5: the other side and then gets that last block kind
- 19:31Speaker 5: of the touchdown, saving the block, which I love. And
- 19:34Speaker 5: I would love to know what conversations were being had
- 19:36Speaker 5: with Julie Love back in New York talking to some
- 19:39Speaker 5: of his homies as they go into the end zone,
- 19:41Speaker 5: which we at that point when you kind of sealed
- 19:42Speaker 5: the deal. So definitely love to see that. And then
- 19:46Speaker 5: I totally agree with you on the Daniel Jones. He's
- 19:48Speaker 5: probably that corner route. Is that ball he needs to
- 19:51Speaker 5: get to. The crazy thing is is he's kind of
- 19:55Speaker 5: locked in on where he wants to go. I feel
- 19:56Speaker 5: like so he's already going that way before Waller, even
- 19:59Speaker 5: though he has a chance to get his route to develop.
- 20:02Speaker 5: But I just wonder, man, reek is so long and freaky,
- 20:05Speaker 5: does he get back there in that corner. Does he
- 20:07Speaker 5: make up ground enough? I don't know. I think it
- 20:09Speaker 5: does either way. To your point, Bump, it was a bathrow.
- 20:13Speaker 5: It's because if you throw that where it's supposed to go,
- 20:15Speaker 5: you know, maybe it's a tackle for sure. But either way,
- 20:19Speaker 5: you still have to make the play. Just because the
- 20:21Speaker 5: ball comes near, especially the defensive back, doesn't mean okay,
- 20:24Speaker 5: well you still have to make the play. You still
- 20:25Speaker 5: have to pick the ball off, You still have to
- 20:26Speaker 5: running back ninety seven yards for a touchdown. So I
- 20:29Speaker 5: love what to see from Devil Witherspoon. I think this
- 20:31Speaker 5: is a tip of the iceberg for this man, and
- 20:33Speaker 5: uh yeah, it was a great, great overall win, which
- 20:36Speaker 5: gets us to our favorite formation in football.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Here comes the Seahawks offense onto the field and the
- 20:43Speaker 2: Vikings defense crutching out there knowing that one meal down
- 20:49Speaker 2: and the Seahawks are gonna wind the clock down and
- 20:52Speaker 2: win this one.
- 20:52Speaker 1: It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Gotta love Viccy formation.
- 20:58Speaker 6: Man, it was all about that defense on Monday night,
- 21:01Speaker 6: record tying eleven sacks for the Seahawks, franchise time record,
- 21:05Speaker 6: three turnovers, a pick six, fourteen tackles for loss, and
- 21:08Speaker 6: then you had three points a lot. I don't care
- 21:10Speaker 6: who you're playing. You allow three points in the NFL,
- 21:13Speaker 6: you get to go. And then the guy we're just
- 21:14Speaker 6: talking about, Devin Witherspoon, looked like the best player on
- 21:18Speaker 6: the field during that game. He tackled, he rallied to
- 21:22Speaker 6: the football, he had sacks, he had open field tackles,
- 21:24Speaker 6: he had to pick six. Everything a dB could possibly
- 21:28Speaker 6: do while playing defense, that young man did it and
- 21:31Speaker 6: it was impressive to watch.
- 21:34Speaker 5: Man, I it was we were talking about it. It
- 21:37Speaker 5: took us a little while to get to sleep after
- 21:39Speaker 5: watching that game. So jacked up and fired up watching
- 21:41Speaker 5: these guys play because it just shows you the potential
- 21:42Speaker 5: where they can get to. And then offensively, it's about
- 21:45Speaker 5: unsung heroes. It's about next man up. I think people
- 21:48Speaker 5: talk about that a lot, but it's another thing to
- 21:50Speaker 5: live it and actually do it. And right now the
- 21:52Speaker 5: Seahawks offensive line is doing it. To manage they score
- 21:55Speaker 5: twenty four points. You know, the defense set one of
- 21:57Speaker 5: those touchdowns up with a sack fumble there, but they
- 22:00Speaker 5: still were able to move the ball and do certain
- 22:02Speaker 5: things with a lot of different guys shuffling in and
- 22:04Speaker 5: out there. And when the season came out bump, We're like, hey,
- 22:08Speaker 5: the bye week came way too early, but it definitely
- 22:11Speaker 5: did not. So I am man, I I'm excited because
- 22:16Speaker 5: look at these names we could get back Jamal Kobe,
- 22:19Speaker 5: Ardi Burns, Trey Brown, a Lucas, Charles Cross, Damian Lewis,
- 22:23Speaker 5: Phil Haynes. Oh, and here's another player that people have
- 22:26Speaker 5: not even seen. Kenny McIntosh at some point is gonna
- 22:31Speaker 5: be able to come off by our So I'm this team.
- 22:34Speaker 5: You get to a point now where it's like it's
- 22:37Speaker 5: gonna be hard to get on the field it's gonna
- 22:39Speaker 5: we get healthy. There's gonna be a lot of good
- 22:41Speaker 5: players that are healthy. Scratches because it's gonna be a
- 22:44Speaker 5: dogfight to get in bump. But I'm just excited about
- 22:46Speaker 5: the potential of these guys getting healthy.
- 22:48Speaker 6: Let's go get healthy. The bye week coming at the
- 22:51Speaker 6: perfect time. When the season started, we said week five
- 22:54Speaker 6: too early. Fast forwards to week four perfect. Everybody get right,
- 22:58Speaker 6: especially Jamal Man. Big ups, Jamal. We know all hard
- 23:01Speaker 6: you work back, our work to get back, and you
- 23:03Speaker 6: were balling before you went down.
- 23:05Speaker 5: So get healthy, man, and let's get this defense rolling again,
- 23:08Speaker 5: no question about it. We have not seen the last.
- 23:11Speaker 5: Jamal is gonna have an impact on this season and
- 23:13Speaker 5: what the Seahawks are doing offensively. So I'm excited about that.
- 23:16Speaker 5: I'm excited about this win. The Seahawks are three and
- 23:18Speaker 5: one going into the bye week. A lot of good
- 23:21Speaker 5: times here at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center. Reminder, you
- 23:24Speaker 5: can catch us everywhere on the Seahawks podcast Network, Apple, Spotify,
- 23:27Speaker 5: Google Play, Series XM, and if you're listening on Apple,
