- 0:04Speaker 1: one Wash Out.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Ninety seven point one wash up in. Good morning, Welcome
- 0:09Speaker 2: to Friday, Chili. Why are you feeling good this morning?
- 0:11Speaker 3: I finally got my new glasses.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Oh, yes, I see them. They look very They call
- 0:16Speaker 2: those cat eyes or something.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Yeah, the frame is a cat eyes.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I don't I don't understand. They don't look like cat
- 0:22Speaker 2: eyes to me. They just they don't resemble cat eyes.
- 0:25Speaker 3: It's like it's got wings on the top.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Yeah, they kind of go out a little bit. That's
- 0:29Speaker 2: what they do.
- 0:30Speaker 3: That's the style, whether they look like it or not.
- 0:33Speaker 2: That's what they look good on you, I mean, and
- 0:35Speaker 2: that's all that matters.
- 0:36Speaker 3: It's a very different look. But I decided to be
- 0:40Speaker 3: a little different.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Well, there's nothing wrong with being a little bit daring.
- 0:44Speaker 3: It take a while to adjust to this frame though,
- 0:47Speaker 3: because it is because it's not the typical frame that
- 0:50Speaker 3: I go for.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Huh Yeah, why are you feeling good? I'm feeling great
- 0:54Speaker 2: today because I heard a line yesterday that really made
- 0:56Speaker 2: me understand just how great the nurses are in my life.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I have to deal with a lot of nurses because
- 1:01Speaker 2: of a lot of different things. If you've been listening,
- 1:03Speaker 2: you know why. I'm not gonna belabor the point, but
- 1:05Speaker 2: one of the best lines I've ever heard from a
- 1:07Speaker 2: nurse was when I went to get my pickline dressing
- 1:12Speaker 2: changed yesterday and Bailey is her name, and she goes,
- 1:18Speaker 2: who did this tape job?
- 1:21Speaker 3: And that made you? That made you feel good?
- 1:24Speaker 2: I just started laughing. It was something little because I go,
- 1:28Speaker 2: I go, look at you calling me out on my
- 1:30Speaker 2: janky tape job. She's like, looks like you tried to
- 1:32Speaker 2: put a tourniquet on this thing. And I was like,
- 1:34Speaker 2: you know what, nurses can find a reason and this
- 1:37Speaker 2: is why I feel great today. Nurses can find a
- 1:40Speaker 2: way to bring levity to any situation. And if you're
- 1:43Speaker 2: a nurse this morning listening to us, just know that
- 1:45Speaker 2: somebody recognizes that. Thank you for everything you do for
- 1:48Speaker 2: so many people who just sometimes feel entitled to it.
- 1:52Speaker 2: You know, it's ninety seven point one to watch the FM.

- 3:04Speaker 3: living on campus being urged to go home or stay
- 3:07Speaker 3: with friends while crews work to fix the problem, with
- 3:11Speaker 3: no timeline yet for repairs. The Maryland Supreme Court ruled
- 3:16Speaker 3: that seeing a driver simply touch or manipulate a phone
- 3:20Speaker 3: while they're driving isn't enough to justify a traffic stop.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Under the state's distracted driving laws, police must have additional
- 3:29Speaker 3: specific reasons to suspect illegal phone use before they pull
- 3:33Speaker 3: someone over. And inflation apparently driving up the cost of
- 3:37Speaker 3: Super Bowl parties, with new research showing hosts are paying
- 3:40Speaker 3: noticeably more this year. Financial Buzz estimates that, according to
- 3:45Speaker 3: a study, a party for ten people will cost one
- 3:47Speaker 3: hundred and sixty seven dollars. That is up seven point
- 3:51Speaker 3: two percent from last year. Forecasts for today, much like yesterday,
- 3:55Speaker 3: a cold weather advisory in effect till eleven. This morning,
- 3:58Speaker 3: partly cloudy, high in the mid twenties right now, nine
- 4:02Speaker 3: frigid degrees in Bethesda.
- 4:04Speaker 2: And that's the news, Toby at Chili's Top Stories at
- 4:07Speaker 2: the top of the hour. That's what you get, tell
- 4:08Speaker 2: a friend when you listen to ninety seven point one
- 4:11Speaker 2: wash FM. And you also get a couple of people

- 4:23Speaker 2: some words that we hope might help are on the
- 4:26Speaker 2: way in just minutes. Toby at Chilly in the morning.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Here at ninety seven point one wash FM. It's top
- 4:32Speaker 2: for us to pause and talk about you and how
- 4:35Speaker 2: you're doing right now.
- 4:37Speaker 3: This is our morning mindset. We share a quote to
- 4:39Speaker 3: get you into a better headspace.
- 4:41Speaker 2: So this comes from Summy Sonic, a band that you
- 4:44Speaker 2: might hear played on this best of the eighties and
- 4:46Speaker 2: nineties weekend that starts later on today with Sabrina at five.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end. It's
- 4:53Speaker 2: from the song closing Time. Every new beginning comes from
- 4:57Speaker 2: some other beginnings end. And I felt like this was
- 5:02Speaker 2: important because endings don't have to be and they shouldn't
- 5:06Speaker 2: be empty, because endings, when you think about it, are
- 5:09Speaker 2: really just entrances. And when you make peace with that
- 5:12Speaker 2: pivot right, and you make peace with realizing that things
- 5:17Speaker 2: will end but new things will begin, that's where the
- 5:21Speaker 2: difference is made. I think maybe I'm wrong. I want
- 5:24Speaker 2: to share your thoughts. Would love to see what you
- 5:27Speaker 2: have to say about that. You find us on the
- 5:29Speaker 2: Toby and Chili page at washefm dot com, on Instace's
- 5:31Speaker 2: social Facebook all that stuff too. That is your morning
- 5:35Speaker 2: mindset for this Friday from Semi Sonic. Every new beginning
- 5:38Speaker 2: comes from some of the beginnings end. It is ninety
- 5:41Speaker 2: seven point one WASHFM. Hang out with Toby and Chilly
- 5:44Speaker 2: in the morning because next.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Well, your dad apparently sent me a package.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Yes, he did, delivered it to the house, brought it
- 5:50Speaker 2: in for you this morning.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Well, I want to know what it is, and I
- 5:53Speaker 3: want to know what the significance of that is or
- 5:57Speaker 3: the purpose of him sending me. Again, I'm very curious.
- 6:01Speaker 2: We'll find out together next stay with us. So while
- 6:05Speaker 2: you were out, I was talking to my dad and

- 6:14Speaker 2: to deliver to you. It came yesterday. Oh yes, it
- 6:17Speaker 2: might have gotten delayed by the snow. You know, everything
- 6:19Speaker 2: gets a little delayed. But I guess you know when
- 6:22Speaker 2: you met my dad when he was here helping me
- 6:24Speaker 2: out after I was in the hospital. Yeah, y'all had
- 6:27Speaker 2: a quick conversation down in the parking garage.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Very quick, like maybe two minutes, with a pleasure meeting him.
- 6:33Speaker 3: He wanted to make sure that you were going to
- 6:35Speaker 3: be okay. When he wasn't around you know, just like
- 6:38Speaker 3: Dad's would. It was lovely and I'm surprised he said something.
- 6:40Speaker 3: I wonder what it could be.
- 6:41Speaker 2: He sent something that I guess he heard you and
- 6:44Speaker 2: I talking about. Oh we were talking about not going
- 6:47Speaker 2: home for Christmas or something like that, and how so
- 6:50Speaker 2: you know what this is? I do and every so
- 6:53Speaker 2: often when my family gets together, there's something that they
- 6:56Speaker 2: love to do. My dad loves it more than everybody else,
- 6:59Speaker 2: but we all getting involved.
- 7:03Speaker 3: It's the game chicken foot. He sent me chicken foot.
- 7:06Speaker 2: My dad loves him some chicken foot.
- 7:08Speaker 3: So this is a Dominos type of game that you
- 7:13Speaker 3: guys played when you were growing up. And now he
- 7:15Speaker 3: sent me my very own. And this really comes at
- 7:18Speaker 3: a perfect time because there hasn't been school from all

- 11:05Speaker 2: all of the snow events this week and the closings
- 11:08Speaker 2: and the shoveling and the cleaning out and all of
- 11:10Speaker 2: this stuff, have you noticed that there's something a bit
- 11:13Speaker 2: different on social media kindness Lots of really cool people
- 11:19Speaker 2: doing very cool things for others. It happened, we'll explain
- 11:25Speaker 2: coming up, and we want to get your take on
- 11:27Speaker 2: some kindness that you might have witnessed in the aftermath
- 11:29Speaker 2: of the snow. So give us a call and join
- 11:31Speaker 2: the conversation as it continues coming up. I wanted to
- 11:34Speaker 2: bring this up at ninety seven point one watchef and
- 11:37Speaker 2: with Toby and Chilly in the morning because I've seen
- 11:38Speaker 2: so many just like random acts of kindness through the
- 11:42Speaker 2: storm that we had in the aftermath, people going above
- 11:46Speaker 2: and beyond for strangers, neighbors. My feed's been blown up
- 11:49Speaker 2: with this stuff, and Chillie, you and I were talking
- 11:51Speaker 2: about it as we were getting ready for the show,
- 11:54Speaker 2: and it begs the question, is there an act of
- 11:56Speaker 2: kindness that somebody did for you or that you did
- 11:59Speaker 2: for somebody? Give us call, tell us about it. Eight
- 12:01Speaker 2: six six nine two seven forty three sixty one. We're
- 12:04Speaker 2: tapped the talk back mike phone for Sonda and listening
- 12:06Speaker 2: on your iHeart app.
- 12:07Speaker 3: It's in our call to Sactually, I think on Facebook
- 12:10Speaker 3: within the neighborhood people would say, hey, I can't dig
- 12:13Speaker 3: out from the eyes. Can anybody come help? And somebody
- 12:15Speaker 3: would chime in and say yes, I'll you know, I'm
- 12:17Speaker 3: on my way, or they would provide contact information for
- 12:21Speaker 3: somebody for me personally. The first day when it was falling,
- 12:25Speaker 3: I went out there to shovel and my husband, having
- 12:28Speaker 3: had his gallbladder removed, couldn't do it. And one of
- 12:31Speaker 3: my neighbors with a snow blower came over and helped
- 12:36Speaker 3: me out. And you know, it's really nice.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Acts of kindness. Have you seen any what went down?
- 12:42Speaker 2: Call us now at eighty six six nine two, seven
- 12:44Speaker 2: forty three sixty one, Sharon, Good morning in Gaithersburg.
- 12:47Speaker 5: Well, on Sunday, my neighbor helped me show my whole
- 12:50Speaker 5: front all by himself for three did it three times.
- 12:52Speaker 5: He he did that both cars oncover, both cars and
- 12:55Speaker 5: the walkway. Is a great neighbor.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Well is this something he did on his own? Or
- 13:00Speaker 3: did you ask for help and he showed up?
- 13:03Speaker 5: No, he just did it on his own. We pretty
- 13:04Speaker 5: much help each other during the summer. I cut his
- 13:06Speaker 5: grass and he helps me whatever he can. We're just
- 13:08Speaker 5: seeing's just a great guy.
- 13:10Speaker 2: See that's what neighborhoods are all about.
- 13:12Speaker 5: So I'm gonna go get him Alita's gift card today
- 13:14Speaker 5: because I can finally get out today.
- 13:16Speaker 2: So oh, right, off Alito's gift card.
- 13:18Speaker 3: That's good.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Good.
- 13:19Speaker 5: He loves pizza and I want to thank him. He
- 13:21Speaker 5: doesn't want any money, he won't take anything like that,
- 13:23Speaker 5: so I'll get him a gift card.
- 13:25Speaker 2: How appropriate because your neighbor, much like Lido Pizza, never
- 13:29Speaker 2: cuts corners.
- 13:30Speaker 5: That's right, that's right man. Thank you guys so much.
- 13:32Speaker 5: I appreciate you all, love your show.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Got a story of kindness from the snow event we
- 13:37Speaker 2: had most of this week. Tell us all about it
- 13:39Speaker 2: now eighte six six nine two seven forty three sixty one.
- 13:42Speaker 2: That's the number of talk back. Microphone is wide open,
- 13:44Speaker 2: two taps, speak and send. Tell us the story that
- 13:47Speaker 2: moved you. Maybe it was an active kindness that you received.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Tell us all about it and we'll talk again in minutes.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Here with Toby and Chilly in the morning. Ninety seven
- 13:55Speaker 2: point one watch FM see so many acts of kindness
- 13:59Speaker 2: during this storm that enveloped everything this week. It's ninety
- 14:02Speaker 2: seven point one was Chef n Perhaps maybe you've seen
- 14:05Speaker 2: some perhaps maybe somebody pulled an active kindness on you.
- 14:09Speaker 2: We would love to hear from you at eight sixty
- 14:11Speaker 2: six ninety seven forty three sixty one.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Help restore our faith in humanity. But with these stories, Gail,
- 14:19Speaker 3: you're up in DC.
- 14:20Speaker 6: I was in a car service. I lived within walking distance.
- 14:25Speaker 6: I fell walking. My boss wanted me to be safe.
- 14:29Speaker 6: They sent me home in a car, and the driver
- 14:32Speaker 6: insisted on walking me. My front lawn is like a
- 14:36Speaker 6: skating rink. My husband had one arm, the driver had
- 14:39Speaker 6: the other. I was so grateful because it was really treacherous.
- 14:44Speaker 6: I didn't ask, he offered, and I'm just so grateful.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Five stars, five stars, and it's one.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Dollar to go, I said.
- 14:51Speaker 6: I wish I could give more than five stars. This
- 14:54Speaker 6: man is my hero. And God bless the drivers out there.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Gail, thank you eight six three sixty You what you
- 15:02Speaker 2: can tap the talk about microphone and tell.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Us what is an act of kindness you either witnessed
- 15:08Speaker 3: or received. Right after we get all the snow.
- 15:11Speaker 2: And Jessica and falls church, what happened?
- 15:13Speaker 7: We live in a small cul de sac. The state
- 15:15Speaker 7: clouds and our little cul de sacs. We always have
- 15:17Speaker 7: to shovel my neighbor recently has had a decline in
- 15:20Speaker 7: health and it's on dialysis. The six houses of us,
- 15:23Speaker 7: we're out doing our driveways.
- 15:25Speaker 4: We started to do Joe's way.
- 15:27Speaker 7: The other neighbors asked what was going on, and I'm like, well,
- 15:29Speaker 7: he has to get out tomorrow for dialysis. So we
- 15:31Speaker 7: all just started kitching in. We cleared a whole cul
- 15:34Speaker 7: de sac so he could get the car out, his
- 15:36Speaker 7: wife could drive him. All just came together so to
- 15:38Speaker 7: get Joe to his appointment.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Oh that is amazing. Have you guys ever come together
- 15:44Speaker 3: like this for any other reason? Pretty much?
- 15:47Speaker 7: So it's funny because we don't all talk to each
- 15:49Speaker 7: other all the time just because of lives and business.
- 15:51Speaker 7: But in the snow, it always brings us together because
- 15:54Speaker 7: we all have to get out of it, and it's
- 15:55Speaker 7: so fun One neighbor next door brought gatorays out for
- 15:59Speaker 7: everybody who was out shoveling as well. I think all
- 16:01Speaker 7: of us coming together has been really nice.
- 16:03Speaker 2: All for one and one for all, you know what
- 16:05Speaker 2: I mean. It's amazing.
- 16:06Speaker 7: It's great for all of us to be out there together.
- 16:08Speaker 7: I wish we had more pictures of it, but we
- 16:09Speaker 7: were all busy. There was nobody hanging out their house.
- 16:11Speaker 7: Everybody was out shoveling.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Do you have it in your memory and in your heart?
- 16:15Speaker 3: That's all you really need.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Hopefully this has sparked something, because I think we need
- 16:20Speaker 2: more of this, like on a global scale these days.
- 16:24Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 16:25Speaker 7: Oh, one hundred percent. A little bit of kindness goes
- 16:27Speaker 7: a long way. It doesn't take much.
- 16:29Speaker 2: No, you don't. And if you want to add something
- 16:30Speaker 2: to the conversation, feel free tap to talk back microphone
- 16:33Speaker 2: if you're sunded listening to us on your iHeart app,
- 16:36Speaker 2: and tell us about an active kindness that you witnessed,
- 16:38Speaker 2: maybe you received during the snow and stay there for

- 21:39Speaker 2: bring forth all the fields, you've got to check out
- 21:42Speaker 2: this feel good Friday story that we have for you.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Icee sidewalks left seniors stuck inside, but a group of
- 21:48Speaker 2: neighborhood teens said, you know what, we're going to do
- 21:51Speaker 2: something about that. They picked up shovels and showed just
- 21:54Speaker 2: how far a little bit of kindness can go. Got
- 21:57Speaker 2: to hear this. It'll make you feel good on a Friday,
- 21:59Speaker 2: and it's next be in Chilly in the morning. If
- 22:02Speaker 2: it feels good on a Friday and makes you feel
- 22:05Speaker 2: all these fields, then it must be your feel good
- 22:07Speaker 2: Friday story for today. It's ninety seven point one to
- 22:09Speaker 2: watch FM Toby and Chilly in the morning and we
- 22:12Speaker 2: go to DC where after last weekend snowstorm. Look, we
- 22:16Speaker 2: all have seen the news. It wasn't good. The sidewalks
- 22:19Speaker 2: were like an ice slick obstacle course. And our more
- 22:23Speaker 2: experienced citizens, our seniors, they found that they might have
- 22:27Speaker 2: been stuck inside, unable to step out, because who wants
- 22:30Speaker 2: to slip and slide and fall down and hurts yourself,
- 22:32Speaker 2: and that was what was waiting for them right out
- 22:35Speaker 2: their front doors. But in Southeast there's a group of
- 22:38Speaker 2: young neighbors who decided to do something about this.
- 22:40Speaker 3: So a group of teen volunteers from the Snow Team
- 22:44Speaker 3: Heroes they call themselves, grab some shovels and got to work.
- 22:48Speaker 3: They chipped away at that ice and cleared the paths
- 22:51Speaker 3: block by block. As a matter of fact, one of
- 22:54Speaker 3: them was fourteen year old Rodriguez Norman Junior and a
- 22:56Speaker 3: bunch of his friends. They spent days out in the
- 22:59Speaker 3: cold learning how to break that ice and shove it away,
- 23:02Speaker 3: and also to spread some salt so the walkways stayed safe.
- 23:06Speaker 3: And his dad was there to keep an eye on things.
- 23:08Speaker 3: And we was really proud to see all the kids
- 23:10Speaker 3: helping on the same street where the dad once screw up.
- 23:14Speaker 2: That's awesome. All these efforts are part of a big
- 23:16Speaker 2: citywide DC push. Volunteers are matched to nearby homes so
- 23:21Speaker 2: that the neighbors can be neighbors helping neighbors. And with
- 23:24Speaker 2: every cleared sidewalk there was relief, uh huh, gratitude and
- 23:29Speaker 2: a reminder that even when it is frigid, freezing cold,
- 23:33Speaker 2: the community can come through in a big way that
- 23:35Speaker 2: warms your heart. And that's exactly what happened here. The
- 23:39Speaker 2: Snow Team heroes have made us feel good on this
- 23:43Speaker 2: Friday for what they've done for our seniors are more
- 23:46Speaker 2: experienced citizens in DC. Thank you for everything that you do.
- 23:50Speaker 2: It feels good to spread that news on a Friday.
- 23:54Speaker 2: And if you've got some stuff that you think might
