- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of Speaker NRP and Fragrance Friday.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: This is such a special one because as you guys know every year we do these really fun guides, whether it's for like fall and the winter or like uh mostly for the summer and we always have our perfume expert with us and she's back for a really cool summer guide for the fragrances that are really trending right now that are amazing for the spring summer months.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: So without further ado, please welcome back Olya Barr.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: Welcome to the show, Olia.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: I'm so excited for you to be back.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Thank you for having me.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: I love uh coming on here and talking about all things perfume, you know, my favorite topic.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: So I'm excited to dive in.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: You always have the best ones too.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Like literally every single suggestion you have for us, I would get obsessed with.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: So I'm super excited and I'm gonna give you the mic.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: Let us dive into this because I don't know what the best thing coming up this year for summer spring scents.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: So I always say that of course you can wear anything you want.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: There are no rules when it comes to perfumes, but I do think that people gravitate towards, you know, things that are juicy, things that are fruity, things that are refreshing, coconutty.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: So I kind of have a curation that will have all of that.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: And then, of course, everyone is gonna choose whatever works for them.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: But we are seeing some particular trends here.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: For example, mango is, you know, really taking over the whole perfume industry by storm.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: There's so many delicious mango offerings on the market.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: And of course, I picked a few that I really like myself.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: We're also seeing a lot of like gelato kind of ice cream direction, and there's so much candy, you know, there's obsession with candy.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: And we spoke about it before, how people love gourmands.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Vanilla is not going anywhere.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: So now these gourmands are kind of they're sticky sweet, they're a little less sticky sweet, they're a bit fruity.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Some of them are gonna be a little green and kind of garden-like for those who don't necessarily like their fragrances overly sweet.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: So I'll just dive right in.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: I'll go in with my first one, which is a mango-centric juice box karaoke heart.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: And it's a really fun one to kind of kick this off because A, it's been sold out um four times in a row.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: We just can't keep it in stock.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: It's funny because I remember attending the event when this was launched in Milan last year, and we weren't even allowed to talk about it.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: I wasn't even allowed to take a picture of it yet.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: But I remember smelling it for the first time and thinking, oh my God, the market is gonna go crazy for it.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: And it's this really boozy mango with kind of creamy undertones of vanilla, and then you have this big dose of rum, and it's inspired by Copacabana.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: So it's really fun, it's really dynamic.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: It's just literally my mouth is like watering.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: And I have to say that besides that one, for example, another one that I that I've seen a lot of people talk about, and I got a sample myself is the Brown Girl Jane Carnival, which is another mango that you know has been blown up social media.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: And of course, there's more niche brands that are exploring this, and it's not the first time we're seeing mango being used in perfumery.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Zerjoff, you know, Cruz Del Sword 2 is one of the most phenomenal, overripe mangoes that's been around forever.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: You know, of course, it's been out and about, but it seems like the focus has shifted back onto it again this summer specifically.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: So that one is really fun, and I and I strongly urge anyone who's into these kind of mouthwatering, you know, mango juicy scents to try it out.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: There's another one that's actually super underrated, nobody ever talks about this brand, and it's called Chabot.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: It's a French little house, and they have this one mango-centric fragrance that's called Caprice de Marie.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: And what I love about this one is that all their fragrances are like slightly over$100.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: So you can really get yourself something for like$120,$130.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Quality is superb.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: They have a bunch of milk scents.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Really, a lot of them are focused on gourmands.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: So they'll have like vanilla milk, they'll have cookies and milk, but that one specifically, and then they have a few more with like berries and peaches.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Highly recommend.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Chabot, totally underrated, nobody ever talks about it, but here we are, you know, because they're such a small house and they really have like a small production, but it's a really phenomenal scent.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: So highly recommend this one.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: And let's talk about cherry.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: I mean, you cannot ignore how much cherry we've been seeing all over.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: It all started with Tom Ford, you know, lost cherry just when he introduced that fragrance, except that one was like really boozy, you know, it had amaretto.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: It was like really intense, but it really opened up people's minds to how wearable cherry can be and how delicious it can be, whether it's in your cocktail or you know, whether you're eating it and you know, the season is for cherries is here finally.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: But now we finally got into our perfume bottles, and we've been seeing delicious variations on cherry.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Montal has an intense cherry that's very like sour and tart, like literally having like this sour cherry juice, you know, just in your cocktail or just even drinking fresh juice.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: It's just delicious.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: And then Juliet has a gun, which is very well known for fragrances like not a perfume, vanilla vibes, and many others.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: They have launched a new, basically, pillar in the collection, and it's called Juliet, and it's all about the cherry.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: If you guys like cherry, you have to try this one.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: It's so juicy, it's so tart, but it does have this muskiness undertone, which makes it a little bit floral, as well.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: There's a bit of jasmine in there, but it's just so wearable.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: And that's another brand that's fairly affordable.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: You can find it, you know, on Twisted Lily, you can find it on Sephora, you can, of course, find it on Juliet Has a Gun website.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: So there's so many different places where you can pick that one up.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: But if you like cherries, that one would definitely be something I would look into.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: I am definitely getting that one.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: I love Juliet Has a Gun.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: Like every single fragrance they make, I'm like, oh, I love it.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: It's so good.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: It's so good.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: And they really have been pumping out all these fragrances that are just so relatable and so easy to wear.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: To me, that plays a huge difference.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: You know, sometimes we see we we spoke about this, I think the first time we weren't on a podcast together, but I remember saying that some fragrances are really cool and kind of conceptual and they're kind of like modern art.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Like you would go to a gallery, maybe you would admire it, but not necessarily bring it home to look at every day.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: And same thing with fragrance.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: You know, I think that that is the most important thing, whether the fragrance is wearable and whether somebody will actually buy this and wear it in an everyday setting.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: And I think that Juliet has a gun, basically every single fragrance that they have is super wearable.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: So yeah, we're gonna have to check that one out.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that also kind of brings me into this whole concept of solar fragrances.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: And I think that we're seeing this every single summer.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: It's not again, it's not the it's not like I'm gonna, you know, say anything out of this world.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: However, they kind of do change based on the notes that become available, or as we call them often accords that become available to perfumers, which is across different labs.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: So let's say an IFF or you know, the Jivadon, it could be all these different um sunrise or you know, a Fermanich.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: There are all these labs that work on different accords, and sometimes they create something really fun and really new.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: And we can see that translate into perfumes that are being launched in that year and following, you know, years ahead.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: So it's interesting that solar accords, you know, now we have this banana blossom, which is this really fun little ingredient, you know, and it has this interesting kind of fruitiness, you know, from the banana, that sweetness.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: But then at the same time, it's also very green and it really translates this happiness.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, that color yellow, you know, everything about it just screams happiness, summer, you know, luminosity.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: And it's interesting because recently I was at the launch of the new Infinimak Coti fragrances.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: They launched 14 fragrances.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: And which one do I become obsessed with?
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: Of course, the one with banana blossom.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, I smelled it.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: I'm like, wait a second, I know because there's only one other fragrance that I have seen so far, and that was Marc Jacobs, the new one, the new Daisy.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: It also has the banana blossom, but there it's a little bit more green, which is also a phenomenal scent, by the way.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: Um, especially if you're into designer fragrances, I think that you can pick that one up for as low as probably$70,$80 for one ounce.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: So I think it becomes really accessible.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: But yeah, that's a fun little ingredient.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: And the one that I specifically fell in love with, it's I I mean, pardon my French because it's definitely terrible, but it's called Getrois Amours, which means the three different jasmins.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: And that's what it uses.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: There's three different jasmine blocks, and then the banana blossom, and it's just phenomenal.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: It's so happy, so you know, sunny that you just want to keep wearing it, very kind of focused on a floral.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: And another one that really um I think if you are in the market for$300 and up type of fragrance, then Killian Sunkissed Goddess would be another one that's so solar, so you know, kind of more into that sunblock direction.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: But you know what I'm liking?
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: I think that you know, we're seeing a lot of coconutty fragrances.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: But to me, what really sparks my interest is when we have a little bit of a retro sunblock kind of vibe.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: And I think that that's what really nailed in the Sunkissed Goddess because it has that solar block, has that coconut, but it's also smells really luxurious and really high-end.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: But then again, you do have to shell out, you know, over$300.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, the way you described it though, that might be something I'm like, I get obsessed with because I'm with you.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: I love the retro vibe of like just the coconut and it's very fresh.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: Like, I really like that personally.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: So I don't know.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: I might have to check that one out.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: I'm a sucker for that.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: I give me a coconut, you know, put some pineapple in that.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Speaking of which, by the way, um, Ellis Brooklyn launched, and this is the first one that I fell in love with from the brand because I know they've been around for a while, but I just couldn't connect with any of their previous launches.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: And then Miami Nectar launches, and I got in a mail and I'm like, okay, let's see, let's test it out.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: And I fell in love.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: And that one is a perfect pineapple coconut combo, but it also has this really interesting, kind of almost like a, I call it a masculine accord, almost like there's a guy wearing that, you know, one of those classic autocolognes passing by you.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: But somehow it neutralizes that intense sweetness and fruitiness that you get from the coconut flesh and the pineapple.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: So for me, it's like the perfect blend.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: Almost like if you were wearing cologne and then you went for a dip in a pool and then you came out and you kind of get traces of it, but then you also drink it a pina collada, you got sun, you know, your suntan, you got it's such a good fragrance.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: And also another one, we're kind of going back and forth between things that are more affordable and things that it might potentially cost your kidney.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: But you know, that's what it is.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: We we keep it real here, right?
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: Those two, you know, definitely are worth exploring.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: And I have to say, another thing that I really been noticing is that there's a lot of tea-focused fragrances that we're seeing for the past few years.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: And again, this is not anything that completely innovative here because we've seen fragrances with tea for years.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, green tea by Elizabeth Arden was probably one of the first huge ones, and you know, they'd never stopped ever since.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: But it just seems that tea fragrances work so well for people because they're very wearable, whether you're going to school, to the office, or just, you know, every day.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: They work in any temperature.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: And there's so many different takes on it.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: Acro, for example, the brand by Olivia Cresp, who brought us anything from light blue by Dolce Gabbana to Angel Mugler, which is the first girl Mons.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: Now he has his own line called Acro.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: And he just launched the fragrance called Infuse, which is straight tea with a tiny bit of smokiness, wears so well.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: And then another fragrance that I think is absolutely worth mentioning is Atelier des Or, which is a French house.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: Uh, they're based in Grasse now.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: They literally bought their own villa where the house is now going to be housed.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: Well, the brand is gonna be housed.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: And they launched a fragrance that's called Blue Madeleine, and it's this beautiful take on tea, but as if you added a little bit of milk in there and you dip that cookie, you know, that comforting feeling of just sipping in a cup of tea, and you can make it iced however you want.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: It's just delicious and comforting.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: And I think that's what fragrances with tea bring to the table.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: So that's why I think we're seeing so many of them, and that's why they're doing so well.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: I just recently spoke of a fragrance, a house that's called Rhone, and they're all focused on tea.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: There's one that's supposed to be the oolong tea, there's one that's uh matcha.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: There's so many different variations.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: So that's another house I would highly recommend if you are craving, you know, a cup of tea or a little bit of the iced tea.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: I've always noticed, I'm like, where do you get the best green tea kind of fragrances?
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: Because I have seen them around a lot, but I personally don't own any in my collection.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: So now I'm gonna have to check that out.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: I really can't wait for you to smell it because I just feel like tea is something that really connects everyone because in every culture there's some type of variation on a tea.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: There's of course different rituals, different ways of preparation and enjoyment, but overall, every single culture is familiar with that note.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: So I think it just works so well for everyone.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: And you can go from green and kind of sparkling and zesty to more milky, you know, clearly, is what we're seeing now, to things that are a bit more smokier.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: Another brand that, by the way, does phenomenal takes on tea is Ariel Shoshana.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: They actually have a store, but they are also, you know, they launch the brands, and I know Ariel, she's a great person, and she launched fragrances that some of them actually use the tea notes, some of them recreate the whole feeling of having a tea, but they have also one with like milk and lavender, and they're just so cool.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: There's like Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: So all of them are pretty good.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: But I would say Monday is the greenest one, and Sunday would be the one if you're creating like that rice milkiness, a bit of that toasted kind of sesame almost direction.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: Super fun.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: And the packaging is phenomenal.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: If you guys are gonna look it up, you guys are gonna love the packaging because it's really playful, really colorful, and you know, it's a female-owned brand and store as well.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: So definitely love to support them.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: So that's that's for tea.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: And then, you know, the the few fragrances that I have to mention, of course, that are gonna be the summer gourmands, you know, can't leave this convo unless we mention the gourmands, because of course they're huge, they're not going anywhere.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: I feel like also like people got so burnt out on vanilla, like this last year.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: Everybody was like, I'm done with vanilla.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Are you sure?
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: Because that's what I kept hearing.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: But I think a good gourmand for the summer is really hard to find, you know.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: So I'm excited about these.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: So true.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: So I don't think I'll ever get tired of vanilla.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: I don't know, we shall see.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: Never say never, but then I feel like I've been around for quite a few years, and uh so strong.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: But you know, I do think that they're kind of morphing into something different, and I'm definitely seeing that there's a lot of that kind of ice cream gelato.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: So, like we had Lucky Candy by Montal that was, you know, marshmallowy and fluffy, kind of a floral take on vanilla with, you know, kind of that ice cream block.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: We also had Amore Cafe by Mancera launch, and then like that one broke the internet, also sold out, couldn't get it back in stock for a few months, and it was inspired by Afogato, which I adore.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: And every time I see it on the menu, I will order it for anyone who doesn't know what an Afogato is.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: I actually didn't know until a few years ago, but it's when you take a cup of espresso.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: I mean, I sometimes do it with regular coffee because I don't have an espresso machine at all, and then you put a scoop of vanilla ice cream right in there, and the dosage depends on you and how much of the ice cream or coffee you would like to drink.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: But I have to say, you can also, by the way, add some amaretto, which is a little bit of the you know, almond-y liqueur.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: So it depends on, you know, what are you feeling that day or that that night?
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: And it's a phenomenal dessert.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: You can usually find it in Italian restaurants.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: These days you can find it in more places, which I'm I'm happy about.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so the scent was inspired literally by that whole concept.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: And recently I came across this one brand that I feel like nobody knows about, and that's why I'm so excited to tell you guys.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: So it's a Greek brand.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: Well, at least it's a Greek perfumer, and it's a small brand.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: It's called Theodoros Calotinis.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: And I hope I didn't butcher that, but I'm pretty sure I had to look it up a few times.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: He has phenomenal scents and they're so affordable.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: Uh, one of them is called Lemon Tarte, and it's definitely a perfect summer kind of think of like a lemon pound cake with a little bit of meringue on top.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: It's delicious.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: And they're usually going for like$55.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, you do have to pay for shipping from Greece, but I feel like if you're placing a large order, and let me tell you when I tell you about the next one, you probably will be placing large order because the next one is gonna be pear gelato.
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: Pear gelato immediately.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: Like immediately buy at the cart now, yes.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: That that's how it was.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: Like I smelled the sample, and I'm like, well, I was gonna buy blindly, to be honest with you.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: I was like about to click check out, but then you know, my friends shared the sample and I said, Oh my god, this is a yes.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: And we're seeing pear, by the way, in so many different scents.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: Like um, Kayali um vanilla candy that just launched is a huge pear-centric fragrance.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: But I think like in a kayali one, it's more of a powdery pear versus in the pear gelato, it's a 100% ice cream vanilla, you know, that really lactonic kind of take on it, which I think is phenomenal.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: And I'm I can't wait to get my bottle.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: But I'm definitely curious what everyone thinks about the lemon tart as well, because that one I have had for a while and it's just one of the best lemon tart fragrances.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: To me, one of the other ones, by the way, if anyone is into that direction, like kind of like a lemon custard cupcake.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Another one I should mention is Acro Bake, which has been around for almost a year.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Phenomenal fragrance, but it comes with a higher price tag.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: So if you're looking to get something in that genre, but for a smaller budget, lemon tart, she's your girl.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Everything will be listed, by the way, guys.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: I'm going to list everything in the notes.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: So don't worry about taking notes.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because it's hard.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Like these names are kind of uh complex.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: Like I had to look this one up a few times before I'm like, oh, I hope I'm not gonna butcher the name.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: But I would say my last section to talk about mention one more gourmand that I'm obsessed with, and then close up with figs.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: So another one that I've been really into, and this is a house that I think I spoke about before.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: I think it's one of the best houses to hit the fragrance market in the past few years, and it's called House of Bo.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: They are phenomenal, and they launched by now their third collection, and I have to say, it just keeps getting better and better.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: They have increased their prices, so I wasn't in love with that part, but they did kind of step up their packaging because they're using natural stones that are carved by um the brand is from Mexico, the founders are from Mexico, and even though they're mostly living in Miami, they're constantly doing a lot of events in Mexico, and inspiration for all these fragrances does come from Mexico as well.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: But also, the artisans that are hand-carving these caps are all in Mexico and they're all getting part of the proceeds from the sales, which I think is phenomenal.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: They have a fragrance that's called bonbon, and oh my god, I mean, think of like white florals, marshmallows, and all of that is just macerated and rum and covered in caramel, just like drizzle.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: It's insane.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: And you know what about this fragrance is that I have never smelled a similar scent profile before, like this.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: And that is really hard to nail when we have like close to you know, probably five to between five to seven thousand launches every year.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: So it's really hard to stand apart um from everything.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: And it was created by Honorine Blanc, who's a French perfumer, and she is a queen of gourmands.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: So I would say that is probably one of the my favorite gourmands ever, but especially for the summer, it's just so good because it's fluffy.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: The marshmallows are just so delicious, but also not overly heavy.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: The central is phenomenal.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: I highly, highly recommend.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: But again, that one is pricey.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: I will say it, you know.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: I said it once, I'll say it again.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: Don't love the price tag, but I love the fragrance.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: That's so interesting.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: You know, I need to actually like go out and find these for myself for the summer because I never wear a gourmet fragrance in the summer because I'm always like, is it too sweet?
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: But you know, it's really about finding the right one.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna be checking all of these out, just letting you know.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna send you a big package of all these things to play with, and then you can just see for yourself which one is worth.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: Um, and by the way, they do have a discovery set, it's like a travel set, which I think is great for anyone who's trying to explore the brands.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: I'm actually gonna mention one more that I think is perfectly aligned with figs.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Figs is, again, not a new note.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: We've seen it for many years.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: Lossic is by Ziptique was probably one of the first ones that everybody found out about.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: Or Lochtazan was another brand that did a phenomenal fig many years ago.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: But in the past like two years, we're seeing figs usually, you know, pick up speed right around spring and summer.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: And there are two fragrances, one by House of Bo that features beautiful take on fig that is a little bit cool and almost like a little masculine again, as well.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: And I think that's nice because a lot of the figs that we're seeing, they're usually sweet or really, really green.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: And I think that one is sits right in between where it can be easily worn by anyone.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: And it's a little bit on a cool side.
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: So if you like your fragrance, it's a bit toned down, less fruitiness, less sweetness.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: It's called Casa Blanca, and it looks amazing.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: It has this white mark.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Marble cap.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: It's a phenomenal fragrance.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: So highly recommend for you to test that one.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: And another one that I've been loving so much, it's interesting for me to say this, but I would I'm pretty confident that it's my favorite fig so far.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: And it's called Cedre Figalia by Atelier Matterie, another female-owned brand from France that focuses on the materials.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: So their whole concept is choosing one ingredient and then weaving the whole scent around it, using the highest ingredients possible, hand carving um the caps again, donating to artisans who are behind the carving.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: And it's just that fig is the most sparkling, green, luminous, delicious, juicy, kind of like succulent type of fig that you just want to bite into.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Ever since I spelled it, I fell in love.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: Because I have probably about 15 fig fragrances in my collection.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: So when I say I like fig, I do like figs quite a lot.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: But this one is phenomenal.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: Again, slightly on a pricier side.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: It's gonna run you something around like 230, 250.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: But I have to say that if you are looking for, you know, to splurge a bit on a fragrance, that one would be my pick, you know, because it's just one of what seriously, one of the best figs that I have seen that is just so delicious that I mean it's dangerously delicious.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: You might go through your bottle super quickly and blame people for spending all that money, but you know, but I said that wraps up my curation.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, I have a few more.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: I don't know if we have some throw it in.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: No, I love it.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: Please share all of them because I really I wanted to ask you actually for also one um, like for me, everything that you said is just sounds amazing, like phenomenal.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: And I hope that everyone listening that you can find something that really fits you for the summer, you know, in this curation.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: I'm personally also very interested in, I guess I really like aquatic scents in the summer.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: So, like, what are some of your favorite ones this year that are more leaning more towards aquatic and kind of that really like subtle scent, you know, something that you can spray on like constantly throughout the day.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: Ooh, I love that one.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: Why I think it's a great question is because most people love those kind of freshies, you know, that's what we call them.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: They're either salty or green and salty, things that make you feel like you're literally sitting by the ocean.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: And one I would say would be Mansera Parfum's French Riviera.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, the name says it all.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: It's sea salty.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: They use the seaweed um extract that just smells so good.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: And it smells really like, you know what it smells like?
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: Actually, it makes me think like you're walking in into one of those high-end stores, but somewhere in Nice or Cannes, you know, anywhere like a French Riviera, you walk in and usually or like a hotel when they usually have the scented lobby, but you're also getting the breeze from the sea.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: And it's that combination of like feeling like you're on a vacation, feeling bougie, feeling great, and also that scent memory that's tied to it.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: So it smells phenomenal.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: That would be one I would highly recommend.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: I would say my second one would be Maison Francis Curgeon.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: And this one is Aquamedia Cologne Forte.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: And it was launched last year, and it was it's an interesting scent because it has a matcha tea, by the way, accord, going back to the tea fragrance, but it also has green kind of aquatic feeling to it.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: But instead of like a sea salt, which is what we're seeing most of the time, it actually uses almost like a freshwater accord.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: So you get this feeling like you're sitting by the lake.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: There's a beautiful garden next to you, but it's not floral at all.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, when when the air is just so fresh, but it's also slightly humid, but it's also very like fresh greenery, like right about now.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: I'm obsessed with that time.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: Before it gets too hot, you get that coolness from the water, you get that kind of coolness from sitting in a shade.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: And that is exactly the feeling that you'll get from the Aquamedia Cologne Forte.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: It comes in so many different sizes that you can definitely figure out which one you know suits your budget and also which one you need in terms of how big your collection is, because you can get like a 35 milliliter, you can get a 70 mil, or go full speed ahead with a 200mm.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but there's go all in if you love it that much.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: Um, but or it's a great gift for somebody who likes green fragrances, but it's it's really one of those scents that I think just works so well on so many people.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: And I've never heard you know people saying that they don't like it.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: It also has this kind of mintiness, but it's not a straightforward mint, it doesn't come off like you're chewing gum or anything, it just usually comes off smelling so fresh that uh every time I wear it, people always ask me what it is.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: And I have to say, for a green, you know, aquatic, it's it projects and it lasts for a very long time.
- 26:46SPEAKER_00: So I definitely love that fragrance.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: And then probably um another one that I would say would be Pacific Rock Moss by uh Goldfield Dem Banks.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: That brand is from Australia and they use it.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: I love them.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: I love that brand.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: I love them.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: The founders, the sweetest soul, they are affordable and at the same time, they're phenomenal, you know.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: So I think it's a brand that brings everything to the table.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: They're poor, their heart.
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: And Pacific Rock Moss was actually, I believe, one of their first fragrances ever launched.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: It was launched a while ago, but it just smells salty, fresh, you know, and has that warm moss um that kind of brings earthiness, but it's a phenomenal fragrance.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: So I think that that would be my pick.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: And to wrap it up, I would probably call out BDK Parfums, which is a French house.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: They have the scent that's called salt d'argent.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: Um, and it smells like your skin after an entire day in the like near the ocean, where that saltiness mixes with your own kind of muskiness, and it just smells so good that I like that's my goal too every time.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: You know, I start wearing this around June when the temperature in New York like really um gets high, but it's this is definitely in my sense because it's salty, but it's very wearable, it's not floral, it's almost like a little savory, like like literally tasting skin after you know you've been out and about in the ocean all day on the beach, but it doesn't have that sunblock part.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: So if you don't like coconut, I think you're gonna be safe there.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: I'm excited about these.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: I love the ones that you mentioned that are aquatic.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: I have to check all of them out because I really find those to be the hardest to get my hands on personally.
- 28:35SPEAKER_01: So like I'm always looking, but the mango, I'm not gonna lie, when you were talking about the mango, like in everything right now, I was really like, okay, I gotta check this out because I've always loved mango in general, and I'm so glad to see that it's making an appearance, you know, in the fragrance world.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: For a very, very, and I mean very affordable mango fragrance.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: I actually have it right here.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: They just sent this to me.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: And the funny part is that I literally was uh smelling this for the first time, and I did not expect much.
- 29:04SPEAKER_00: You know, it's kind of like the packaging isn't really fancy, and it's called Ocean V, and it's by Imperial Fragrances.
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: Holy moly! When I smelled this fragrance, I was like, what is going on?
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: Like I've never seen this mentioned by really anyone, but it smells so sparkling, so delicious.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: Another mango that I think is definitely uh worth checking out.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: It's not as expensive as the karaoke hard, it's somewhere in the middle.
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: But for a super affordable mango for anyone who does not want to spend past$30, guys, Fleur Mango Mood is your mango.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: Like I have I have the spray, I'm almost done with it, and I think it's one of the most wearable, one of the most delicious and affordable mango out there.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: If you're trying to just, you know, not splurge this summer, but still tap into this mango.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: Trends definitely mango mood by Fleur.
- 29:56SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 29:57SPEAKER_01: I was gonna ask you what you thought about Fleur because they have some of the best scents.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: Like, I feel like for the especially if you're not trying to break the bank, like it's such a great brand.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: It's great.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: And you know what?
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: I have to say, I was really excited to try Bath and Body Works collection.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: Everybody was talking about it.
- 30:13SPEAKER_00: Once I'm getting to Bath Body Works, I was so excited.
- 30:15SPEAKER_00: I was thinking that they can possibly battle some of the other body mists on the market, but they don't last past 10 minutes.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: And I think like I tried the lemon, you know, cake, I tried the vacation one, like all the, you know, the new collection.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: And as much as they're fun upon the first spray, they just don't last past, you know, 10 minutes.
- 30:35SPEAKER_00: So I say that if you already want to spend 20, 25 bucks, spend it on, you know, fleur because mango skin, vanilla, vanilla skin is one, yeah.
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: Vanilla skin.
- 30:45SPEAKER_00: And then they have another one that's kind of like a baccarat dupe, like amber haze is something.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: But I think mango mood is where it's at.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: Like if I had to pick one, that would be it.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: Oh, I have to get that too.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: I just love fleur.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: I love supporting them.
- 30:58SPEAKER_01: I think like as a small brand, they're they're nailing it.
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: In terms of like getting perfumery out there to people who want to experiment.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: So, but Oliah, this was amazing.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: You're so good.
- 31:08SPEAKER_01: Like every time I ask you to do a guide, we always have like the best picks, and everybody always chimes in, like, oh my god, I bought this and I love it, and it's like a permanent part of my collection.
