- 2:12Speaker 5: we stopped him and the boys from making trouble for us.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Oh, Lefty, we.
- 2:15Speaker 5: Bought him out, that's all. Yeah, we give him a
- 2:17Speaker 5: hundred gez for the place cash money. Now we own
- 2:20Speaker 5: a whole entire plantation.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Well, good for you, But I want your problem.
- 2:23Speaker 5: Well, Johnny, we fixed this place up real night since
- 2:26Speaker 5: you've seen it. You know, we spent a lot of dawn.
- 2:27Speaker 3: So so we want to buy a lot of new
- 2:29Speaker 3: insurance on it.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Oh well, then hop on over to George down and
- 2:33Speaker 4: see your old friend Joe Picka Tello about it. Old friend,
- 2:35Speaker 4: h after all, he's your insuranceation. He well, sure of
- 2:39Speaker 4: course he is. Didn't he send you all the other insurance?
- 2:42Speaker 3: You Lefty? That something happened to Joe.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know what it is.
- 2:47Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 2:48Speaker 5: Well, that's just it. I don't know. I talked to
- 2:51Speaker 5: him on the phone, asked him to come out here.
- 2:53Speaker 5: He says, okay, but he don't come.
- 2:55Speaker 3: You think somebody's knocked him off.
- 2:56Speaker 5: And I caught him again, he's okay again, hit me
- 2:59Speaker 5: right over?
- 3:00Speaker 3: What he still don't Well? Have you gone over to
- 3:01Speaker 3: Georgetown to see him, to see what's the matter?
- 3:03Speaker 5: Five six, maybe even half a dozen times? What every
- 3:06Speaker 5: time he ain't there?
- 3:07Speaker 3: Lefty? I don't get it.
- 3:09Speaker 5: That's what I'm trying to tell you. There's something wrong
- 3:11Speaker 5: about it, Johnny. And if I was you, i'd come
- 3:14Speaker 5: down here.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Fine, you know something. I think you're right.
- 3:25Speaker 5: Wow.
- 3:26Speaker 6: Bailey and the Exciting Adventures of the Man with the
- 3:28Speaker 6: Action Tact Expense account America's fabulous freelance insurance investigators.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Truly Johnny Dollar.
- 3:39Speaker 6: Now at one of yours, Truly Johnny Dollar.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Expense account submitted by Special Investigator Johnny Dollar, the Continent
- 4:00Speaker 4: Insurance Company, Home Office, New York, New York, following as
- 4:03Speaker 4: an account of expenses incurred during my investigation of the
- 4:05Speaker 4: Virtuous Mobster Matter expenser con had a won seven dollars
- 4:13Speaker 4: eighty five cents trained to New York City and taxi
- 4:15Speaker 4: to the office of Continental Insurance Company.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Fortunately, my contact there, Ben or Lof, was in.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Come in, mister dollar, come in, thanks.
- 4:23Speaker 3: How I am? Thanks? Now, mister all in a.
- 4:26Speaker 7: Minute, don't tell me you never received that check for
- 4:28Speaker 7: your services down in South Carolina. Oh, yes, I got
- 4:30Speaker 7: that that mailed out to you nearly two months ago. Yes,
- 4:33Speaker 7: I said, I got it. I am oh good. Incidentally,
- 4:38Speaker 7: I thoroughly enjoyed your report on that case, the village
- 4:40Speaker 7: of Virtue matter you called it? So why a group
- 4:43Speaker 7: of ex gangsters should decide to settle in the town
- 4:45Speaker 7: called Virtue, I'll never understand.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Why were they really behaving themselves as.
- 4:48Speaker 7: Your report indicated, or had they been using that old
- 4:51Speaker 7: plantation for a sort of hideout.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Their records have been cleaned down there for over twenty years, now.
- 4:56Speaker 8: Is that so?
- 4:57Speaker 5: Well?
- 5:00Speaker 7: Well, maybe the answer to organized crime is to give
- 5:02Speaker 7: all those fellows a nice, quiet plantation to live on. Though,
- 5:05Speaker 7: I must say that when our agent down there, Joseph Picadello, it's.
- 5:07Speaker 3: About Joe that I've come to time.
- 5:09Speaker 7: I must say that I was a bit concerned when
- 5:11Speaker 7: I found Joe had sold policies to characters like Lefty
- 5:13Speaker 7: Stemper and Bully Magoon and Flippy lack of mister Orlie.
- 5:16Speaker 7: Those were the very sort of men that Thomas E.
- 5:18Speaker 7: Dewey chased out of New York when he was DA
- 5:20Speaker 7: some years ago. Ster all Off was before Due became governor.
- 5:22Speaker 7: You know, so naturally, I what were you going to
- 5:26Speaker 7: say about Joe Piccaatello. Have you heard from Joel recently?
- 5:29Speaker 2: No? No, I don't think I have, now that you mentioned.
- 5:31Speaker 7: It, because I just talked over the phone. Wait, you
- 5:34Speaker 7: must understand one thing, mister Dona. What's that our office
- 5:36Speaker 7: down there in Georgetown is probably the smallest one we
- 5:39Speaker 7: have in the whole country. Joe really doesn't handle much
- 5:41Speaker 7: business for us.
- 5:42Speaker 3: You know, yes, I understand. I understood that when I
- 5:45Speaker 3: talked to him in April.
- 5:45Speaker 7: If it weren't for those those mobsters over in Virtue, mobsters,
- 5:49Speaker 7: mister arm Well, if it wasn't for them and some
- 5:51Speaker 7: of the townspeople to whom you issued policies, I, mister Dollar,
- 5:55Speaker 7: has something happened to Joe Picadello.
- 5:57Speaker 3: That's what I want to find out, because.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Now that I think about excuse me, Miss Bailey.
- 6:04Speaker 7: Yes, did you ever get a reply on the harmon
- 6:06Speaker 7: policy from mister Piccatelo in our Georgetown office?
- 6:08Speaker 5: No, sir, I've written mister Pigateller several.
- 6:11Speaker 7: Times, Thank you dollar. We wrote Joe about that harmon
- 6:15Speaker 7: matter over four weeks ago.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Well didn't it occur to you to phone him and
- 6:18Speaker 4: find out why he hasn't answered you?
- 6:20Speaker 7: But it involved such a small policy that yes, perhaps
- 6:25Speaker 7: I'd better try to call him, Miss Bailey. Wait, yes,
- 6:30Speaker 7: nothing what I said?
- 6:32Speaker 2: Nothing? Well, mister Donald.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Or mister Orloff.
- 6:36Speaker 4: If something has happened to Joe Piccotello, well look, instead
- 6:39Speaker 4: of spreading the alarm, how about if I quietly run
- 6:41Speaker 4: on down there.
- 6:42Speaker 2: But have you reason to believe something wrong has happened
- 6:45Speaker 2: to him?
- 6:45Speaker 4: Only from what his clients down there at the plantation
- 6:47Speaker 4: have told me over the phone.
- 6:48Speaker 3: You you think.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Perhaps some of his old Gangland enemies have got to.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Him after twenty years.
- 6:54Speaker 4: I don't know, but if you'll all came my expense account,
- 6:57Speaker 4: I'll go down there and see.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Well, now, mister Donald and you.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Won't all get down there anyway.
- 7:01Speaker 7: But there's the danger too, This might be a very dangerous.
- 7:05Speaker 7: Let me hear from.
- 7:08Speaker 6: You as soon as you can, mister Dollar, Act two
- 7:21Speaker 6: of yours, truly Johnny Dollar in a moment.
- 7:24Speaker 9: And now for another episode in the life of Sergeant
- 7:27Speaker 9: Donald's bellweather. My husband.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Donald is you're pory.
- 7:42Speaker 8: Isn't it?
- 7:42Speaker 10: Can you see all right? Oh?
- 7:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I can see.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Windshield wipers are operating with mechanical perfections.
- 7:49Speaker 11: You notice there are no more streams either, since I
- 7:50Speaker 11: put on the new rubber blade.
- 7:52Speaker 9: You know, I think every driver should have his windshield
- 7:54Speaker 9: wipers in good order.
- 7:55Speaker 10: It's much safer. It would be much safer if.
- 7:58Speaker 9: Everyone would slow down during wet weather like my husband
- 8:00Speaker 9: is doing right now.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Just being cautious.
- 8:03Speaker 12: Riba. We don't want an accident, and it's down.
- 8:05Speaker 9: For I don't want an accident anytime.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Yeah, that's for sure.
- 8:09Speaker 9: Well, the experts say that accidents just don't happen. Something
- 8:12Speaker 9: causes accidents, and that cause can be prevented by the
- 8:16Speaker 9: way there in what kind of weather do you think
- 8:18Speaker 9: most accidents occur?
- 8:20Speaker 11: Ooh, I'm saying rain or snowy weather or slippery weather
- 8:25Speaker 11: when visibility isn't impaired.
- 8:26Speaker 9: That's the wrong answer, dear, wrong, Yeah, are you serious?
- 8:31Speaker 9: Statistics show that eight out of ten accidents occur when
- 8:34Speaker 9: the weather is clear or with a cloudy overcast.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Are you positive? I wonder why?
- 8:39Speaker 8: But oh, here's our house there.
- 8:41Speaker 10: Oh yeah, Now you sit right here, Riba.
- 8:47Speaker 11: I'll get out with the umbrella and then I'll come
- 8:49Speaker 11: around and open your dop All right.
- 8:50Speaker 10: Then I wonder why, I wonder why?
- 8:53Speaker 8: What? Why?
- 8:54Speaker 3: Eight out of ten accidents happen in clear weather?
- 8:56Speaker 9: Oh well, I don't know for sure, sergeant, but I
- 8:59Speaker 9: do know that you go very carefully to night in
- 9:01Speaker 9: the rain. Now, if everyone droves carefully during clear, dry weather,
- 9:06Speaker 9: there'd be less accidents, I'm.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Sure, and that must be it.
- 9:09Speaker 11: People automatically get cautious in the rain and snow.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Too bad.
- 9:14Speaker 12: They don't stay that way in good weather.
- 9:16Speaker 9: You will, won't you?
- 9:17Speaker 5: I mean, drive safely in good.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Weather too, I promise.
- 9:20Speaker 9: Oh that's my donald, that's.
- 9:23Speaker 5: My doll.
- 9:34Speaker 6: And now act too of yours. Truly, Johnny Dollar and
- 9:37Speaker 6: the virtuous Mobster Matter.
- 9:42Speaker 4: Expenser con had them two twenty eight dollars even transportation
- 9:45Speaker 4: and incidentals New York City to Georgetown, South Carolina. It
- 9:49Speaker 4: was late when I pulled into the prosperous little southern community.
- 9:52Speaker 4: It was dark, pitch dark. I had them three fifty
- 9:54Speaker 4: bucks deposit on a rental car. I had them four
- 9:57Speaker 4: seventy cents for a sandwich and a coca and.
- 9:58Speaker 3: All night Dina.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Then I drove over to Joe Piccotello's on the side
- 10:02Speaker 4: street near the park, the small frame building that served
- 10:05Speaker 4: as both office and living quarters.
- 10:06Speaker 3: But Joe was dark, but.
- 10:07Speaker 4: In the hope he might be asleep in his little
- 10:09Speaker 4: apartment up above.
- 10:10Speaker 3: I knocked.
- 10:15Speaker 4: No answer until I was about to turn and go
- 10:18Speaker 4: back to my car. It was the sound of a
- 10:20Speaker 4: door slamming somewhere inside, but still no light showed. And
- 10:24Speaker 4: knocked again. Then faintly I heard footsteps approaching. Why hadn't
- 10:30Speaker 4: Joe turned on the light in there?
- 10:32Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 10:33Speaker 10: What do you want?
- 10:34Speaker 3: Joe? Yeah, Joe, open up.
- 10:36Speaker 4: It's Johnny Dollar, Johnny Dollar insurance investigator.
- 10:41Speaker 10: You know, investigator?
- 10:45Speaker 3: Are you kidding? What's the matter with you?
- 10:46Speaker 8: Pal?
- 10:46Speaker 3: Open up?
- 10:48Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 10:49Speaker 3: Sure, Hi?
- 10:55Speaker 8: And Joe?
- 10:55Speaker 3: What's the idea of no lights in here? You forget
- 10:57Speaker 3: to pay your bill or something?
- 10:59Speaker 10: Maybe? What do you want?
- 11:02Speaker 8: Why?
- 11:03Speaker 10: Investigator?
- 11:04Speaker 3: He said?
- 11:04Speaker 10: Willy? Did you hear that?
- 11:06Speaker 3: Willy?
- 11:07Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 11:07Speaker 5: I heard? What is it?
- 11:11Speaker 8: Oh?
- 11:11Speaker 3: No, you don't.
- 11:20Speaker 13: All right, Willie, I got his gun. I hit him again,
- 11:24Speaker 13: yeah again, once more?
- 11:35Speaker 3: Okay, okay, Oh he is that like a life?
- 11:38Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 11:39Speaker 3: What do you want I should do with him?
- 11:40Speaker 8: Now?
- 11:42Speaker 3: You're crazy, Willy?
- 11:44Speaker 10: You mean you don't know?
- 11:47Speaker 4: Okay, but if I blessed him here, it's gonna make
- 11:49Speaker 4: a lot of noise and if any fight.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Listen, I hate your car coming down the.
- 11:54Speaker 10: Street, investigator, he said, so he wouldn't be waking along.
- 11:58Speaker 10: Come on, not the back way.
- 11:59Speaker 5: But I don't. I don't thought they'll see no lights
- 12:12Speaker 5: on Lefty. Maybe Joe's went to bed.
- 12:14Speaker 9: If he's that, he.
- 12:16Speaker 5: Didn't answer the phone when you called him. Listen, Flippy.
- 12:19Speaker 11: Johnny Dolla told me I should come down here, look
- 12:21Speaker 11: for Joe myself said, come on.
- 12:23Speaker 14: We'll see whatever you say, Lefty. Only I thought that
- 12:27Speaker 14: Johnny was coming down here himself.
- 12:29Speaker 8: Though.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Hey look the doors open.
- 12:34Speaker 14: Yeah you you look what what I stepped on?
- 12:38Speaker 3: Joe?
- 12:38Speaker 8: Joe?
- 12:39Speaker 3: What happened to here?
- 12:40Speaker 10: That ain't Joe, it's just Johnny Dollar.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Hey, you're right, Flippy.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Somebody must listen again.
- 12:47Speaker 10: Away, Oh Johnny, Johnny, Johnny, it's me.
- 12:53Speaker 11: It's me, Lefty and me Flippy Johnny.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Okay, you all right? You're right.
- 13:03Speaker 10: To you, Johnny.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll murderize him.
- 13:05Speaker 10: Flippy rights, Yeah, what happened in here?
- 13:10Speaker 3: You know who done this to you?
- 13:11Speaker 5: Johnny?
- 13:12Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 13:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, give me.
- 13:15Speaker 11: A flippy help me lamb up on the sofa, easy, easy, yeah,
- 13:20Speaker 11: easy here now.
- 13:23Speaker 10: Yeah, Johnny, listen to me.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Who Johnny?
- 13:27Speaker 8: Who? Johnny.
- 13:29Speaker 4: I can't believe it, but I could see him in
- 13:31Speaker 4: the light of the stool show. Bigger Tellow, Smoky Bigger
- 13:37Speaker 4: Tellow done this to you. Another guy with him called
- 13:40Speaker 4: him will He.
- 13:41Speaker 10: Will the lump.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Why why did he do it? I don't know. I
- 13:45Speaker 3: could very strange when he came to the door. But
- 13:48Speaker 3: I don't get it.
- 13:48Speaker 2: He was my power, he was your power, like the
- 13:52Speaker 2: lump with him. That that's what I don't get.
- 13:54Speaker 11: It means he's went back, That's what it means. He's
- 13:57Speaker 11: went back to the old racket dope smuggling. Him and
- 14:01Speaker 11: Willie lumpus partners in the old days.
- 14:03Speaker 14: But twenty years Joe's and straight Lefty look like you
- 14:07Speaker 14: and me and Billy mcgoone.
- 14:08Speaker 11: Yeah, for twenty years, you and me and Bully the
- 14:10Speaker 11: only guns we ever used was for hunting.
- 14:12Speaker 2: For killing snakes, not no more.
- 14:15Speaker 3: What do you mean left to you?
- 14:17Speaker 11: Joe Pigotello done this to you? Johnny means only one thing.
- 14:21Speaker 11: There's only one thing we can do. He's right, Johnny,
- 14:25Speaker 11: No left, Johnny. First, we take you back to the
- 14:28Speaker 11: plantation where you get all right again, and we find
- 14:31Speaker 11: Joe Pigotello flip and bullying me, and we do, what are.
- 14:36Speaker 10: You Pump's doing here?
- 14:37Speaker 5: Huh?
- 14:39Speaker 8: Joe?
- 14:39Speaker 5: That's right?
- 14:40Speaker 10: Who'd you expected?
- 14:41Speaker 5: What's the big eye?
- 14:42Speaker 11: All right, don't move because Joe, I'm gonna bless your
- 14:47Speaker 11: head off.
- 14:53Speaker 6: Act three of yours, truly Johnny Dollar in.
- 14:55Speaker 3: A moment, do you know who said?
- 14:59Speaker 12: Every individual in society has certain powers, rights, and privileges
- 15:04Speaker 12: which no other individual can justly abridge or destroy. Those
- 15:09Speaker 12: words were written by Noah Webster, the man who compiled
- 15:13Speaker 12: America's first Great dictionary. Mister Webster knew that if the
- 15:17Speaker 12: country which he had seen come into being were to succeed,
- 15:20Speaker 12: the rights of the individual have to be protected. Each
- 15:24Speaker 12: person is entitled to certain basic rights, powers, and privileges
- 15:29Speaker 12: which must not be taken away because of the whim
- 15:31Speaker 12: of someone with greater power. In the United States, the
- 15:36Speaker 12: individual is important regardless of his wealth, power, or position.
- 15:41Speaker 12: The importance of the individual is closely linked to the
- 15:44Speaker 12: American tradition. Remember the words of Noah Webster, they are
- 15:50Speaker 12: part of your American heritage. The rights and privileges of
- 15:54Speaker 12: the individual must be preserved.
- 15:58Speaker 6: And now act three of yours, truly, Johnny Dollar and
- 16:01Speaker 6: the virtuous Mobster matter.
- 16:10Speaker 4: To say, the atmosphere was tense there on Joe Piccotello's
- 16:13Speaker 4: office in Georgetown, South Carolina, would be the understatement of
- 16:15Speaker 4: the week. After the beating I'd taken for the ex
- 16:18Speaker 4: gangster in one of his pals. My old friends Lefty
- 16:20Speaker 4: and Flippy had come in that found me there, and
- 16:22Speaker 4: they couldn't understand why Joe had done this to me
- 16:25Speaker 4: unless it.
- 16:26Speaker 11: Means he's went back, That's what it means, went back
- 16:28Speaker 11: to the rackets.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Willy the Lump was with him, and when.
- 16:31Speaker 5: Willy was partners in the old days, dopet.
- 16:34Speaker 3: How the two of them swore to get Joe. And
- 16:36Speaker 3: then suddenly we looked up to see someone standing in
- 16:39Speaker 3: the doorway.
- 16:40Speaker 5: Joe.
- 16:40Speaker 3: It was Joe Piccotello.
- 16:42Speaker 10: That's right now, would you expect it went all right?
- 16:44Speaker 3: Don't move because Joe I'm gonna blest you.
- 16:48Speaker 13: Ahead off and I'll put that thing down. Left see,
- 16:50Speaker 13: don't move. Why did this slippyr gag or something?
- 16:52Speaker 3: Is it a gag?
- 16:53Speaker 5: What you've done at Johnny Dollar?
- 16:55Speaker 10: Johnny?
- 16:56Speaker 5: I said, one move and I'll give it to you.
- 16:58Speaker 10: Johnny, turn around, Joe.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Shoot you in the back.
- 17:01Speaker 5: You dirty?

- 17:05Speaker 10: I'll kill.
- 17:05Speaker 5: You for this.
- 17:05Speaker 8: What are you talking about?
- 17:06Speaker 3: Your dirty rat weight? Lefty?
- 17:08Speaker 11: Johnny's my pal like you used to be before you

- 17:12Speaker 10: We went back in the racket.
- 17:13Speaker 14: Yeah, yeah, that the dope pound, Willy the Lump.
- 17:15Speaker 11: What do you know about Willy the Lump plenty? Now
- 17:17Speaker 11: that you're back with him, you're crazy. It's no good, Joe,
- 17:20Speaker 11: because Johnny recognized you.
- 17:22Speaker 3: You and Willy the Lump.
- 17:23Speaker 11: When you wipe them over, I tell you that I
- 17:24Speaker 11: had twenty years. You and Bully and Flippy and me.

- 17:30Speaker 11: Me and a boy's at the plantation. You down here
- 17:33Speaker 11: now you're spoiled. You're ruining for all of us.
- 17:36Speaker 5: When you listen, don't move.
- 17:38Speaker 10: We made a deal, you and me and the boys
- 17:41Speaker 10: twenty years ago.
- 17:42Speaker 11: If anybody slips, anybody breaks up our respectable life, you
- 17:46Speaker 11: gotta go.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Was that the deal?
- 17:48Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 17:48Speaker 10: Yeah, that was the deal. But you don't know what
- 17:50Speaker 10: you're talking about when you say I'm going back, all.
- 17:52Speaker 11: Right, so you your luws is come. You not only
- 17:54Speaker 11: go back, you do this to Johnny Dollar, my friend,
- 17:56Speaker 11: the guy who believed in us, Lefty, So for that,
- 17:58Speaker 11: you gotta go. Listen, O Joe right, Lefty, give me
- 18:05Speaker 11: a gun.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Lefty, No, Johnny, that was the deal.
- 18:09Speaker 4: You ever use a gun on a man, you'll go
- 18:11Speaker 4: up for the rest of your life. Johnny, it's for you.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Hand it over, Lefty.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Okay, thanks. You see it, it wasn't Joe who worked
- 18:23Speaker 3: me over. I thought it was.
- 18:25Speaker 4: It looked like him, it sounded like that, and it
- 18:28Speaker 4: was look at his hands, his face, his close Is
- 18:31Speaker 4: this the man I fought with him here five minutes ago? Sure,
- 18:34Speaker 4: maybe I did get the worst of it with two
- 18:35Speaker 4: of them on top of me, but believe me, I
- 18:38Speaker 4: cut them up.
- 18:38Speaker 10: Some tool he's right, Lefty.
- 18:40Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, But then I don't if it wasn't him,
- 18:46Speaker 11: the twin, the twin, You're right, Lefty.
- 18:49Speaker 10: It must be the twin.
- 18:50Speaker 3: The twin here is all right, boys, let me in
- 18:53Speaker 3: on a tour with his.
- 18:54Speaker 11: Shep Block or the twin they called him, that's what
- 18:56Speaker 11: the law called him. Call him with Joe, the twins
- 18:58Speaker 11: because they looked like each other, talk like each other. Yeah,
- 19:01Speaker 11: there was always yellerby for each other.
- 19:03Speaker 14: But what Shep will Locko doing here?
- 19:07Speaker 10: I can't tell you, Flippy.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Not yet, all right, Joe?

- 19:10Speaker 11: I believe you about not working over Johnny here because
- 19:13Speaker 11: of what he says about well about you know me
- 19:16Speaker 11: mussed up.
- 19:17Speaker 10: But if you and Shepard back in the racket, I'm
- 19:19Speaker 10: not lefty, that's straight.
- 19:22Speaker 3: All right? Then tell me where you been.

- 19:40Speaker 13: coming back. Why, yeah, Joe, why I can't tell you.
- 19:43Speaker 10: I can't tell you.
- 19:46Speaker 11: All right, listen, we're listening, Joe. The Sacred Service. Huh, Well,
- 19:52Speaker 11: I have those killings up.
- 19:52Speaker 3: In Baltimore during that smuggling, Joe.
- 19:54Speaker 13: Yeah, Johnny, they know the twins Shep Blalker when Willie Well,
- 19:58Speaker 13: the boys in Washington dw they did it. They didn't
- 20:00Speaker 13: know where to find him.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Well, go on, Joel.
- 20:02Speaker 10: So they spread the way.
- 20:03Speaker 13: The Secret Service spread the way that I knew where
- 20:06Speaker 13: Shepp and Willy were, that I would lead them to him.
- 20:09Speaker 13: You knew where they was, No, but the law boys
- 20:11Speaker 13: knew how to flush him out, get shepping Willy out
- 20:13Speaker 13: looking for me, gunning for.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Me, And the Secret Service didn't keep you under cover.
- 20:17Speaker 10: Yeah, until today back in Washington.
- 20:19Speaker 3: But I talked to you on your phone right here.
- 20:21Speaker 10: Part the line was rigged through to Washington.
- 20:23Speaker 11: You said, until today, Joe. Yeah, Because Shepp and Willy
- 20:27Speaker 11: didn't show. The law boys had to make them show.
- 20:30Speaker 4: So then they sent you here as living baits. Yeah,
- 20:34Speaker 4: And they passed the word that you'd be here.
- 20:36Speaker 11: That said, Johnny. That's why Shepp and Willy were waiting
- 20:39Speaker 11: here when you came. That's why I'll come back now
- 20:42Speaker 11: that I'm here. Boy, you stuck your neck out for
- 20:46Speaker 11: the sake of going straight. I couldn't help myself. The
- 20:49Speaker 11: Sacred Service rigged on me. Guy named Phillips. But now
- 20:52Speaker 11: you're rolling it. It's flippy tin out the lights. Yeah,
- 20:55Speaker 11: let's get out of here. What and we was crooks
- 21:01Speaker 11: but never killers. But it's killers. It's coming to get Joe.
- 21:04Speaker 3: What do you mean, Lefty?
- 21:05Speaker 11: But they won't and they won't get you, Johnny.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Sorry, Lefty, I can't move.
- 21:10Speaker 11: Then we'll stay for you and Joe. Yeah right, So
- 21:13Speaker 11: turn out the lights for me to the lakewise ship.
- 21:17Speaker 8: Twim.
- 21:17Speaker 13: That's right, your old pile shep lock keep her right
- 21:21Speaker 13: on him, Willie, don't worry, shep investigator hunt Dollar only

- 21:29Speaker 13: have killed him when we had your dollar. But we
- 21:32Speaker 13: thought these boys driving up was reinforcements.
- 21:35Speaker 11: Reinforcements. We should have known the secret Service, Wasn't that right?
- 21:39Speaker 10: All right? Well they first theme while I keep this
- 21:41Speaker 10: gun on him?
- 21:41Speaker 3: Sure, none of you trying to not Dollar?
- 21:44Speaker 10: We got his gun?
- 21:45Speaker 3: Oh okay, just what do you intend doing? Spar there?
- 21:49Speaker 3: Clean ship?
- 21:50Speaker 10: What do you think? All right? Joe gets it first,
- 21:54Speaker 10: but you're gonna post so it don't make no noise.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Go ahead, Willie.
- 21:59Speaker 8: Yeah, you've got them both.
- 22:12Speaker 3: And I thought you couldn't move.
- 22:14Speaker 10: Yeah boy, Thanks Johnny, Thanks.
- 22:19Speaker 4: Thank Lefty for giving me his gun when I asked
- 22:21Speaker 4: for a shoe. Oh hey, look, you guys know a
- 22:26Speaker 4: good doctor.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Yeah. I've said it before and I.
- 22:34Speaker 4: Say it again. In this insurance business, you never know
- 22:38Speaker 4: what you'll run into. Expense account total including a flock
- 22:42Speaker 4: of medical expenses and the trip back to Hide Fridon
- 22:44Speaker 4: one hundred and seventy four dollars even, Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar,
- 23:13Speaker 4: Yours Truly.
- 23:14Speaker 6: Johnny Dollar, Starrying Bob Bailey originates in Hollywood and is
- 23:18Speaker 6: produced and directed by Jack Johnstone, who also wrote today's story.
- 23:23Speaker 6: Heard in our cast were Gene Tatum, Jack Prussian, Les Tremaine,
- 23:26Speaker 6: Billy Hellip, Frank Gerstall, and Gil Stratton Jr. Be sure
- 23:31Speaker 6: to join us next week, same time and station for
- 23:34Speaker 6: another exciting story of Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar.
- 23:40Speaker 3: This is Roy Rowan speaking.
- 24:38Speaker 7: Yours Truly Johnny Dollar has been a presentation of the
- 24:41Speaker 7: United States Armed Forces Radio and Television Service.
- 26:30Speaker 15: This is Andrew from Otrwesterns dot com. I wanted to
- 26:33Speaker 15: invite you to come take a look at our site.
- 26:35Speaker 15: We stream live OTR Westerns twenty four hours a day,
- 26:39Speaker 15: seven days a week, along with putting out podcasts of
- 26:42Speaker 15: old time radio Westerns. Check us out at OTR Westerns
- 26:46Speaker 15: dot Com. You're listening to the Great Detectives of Old
- 26:49Speaker 15: Time Radio with Adam Graham. Now let's get back into
- 26:51Speaker 15: the show.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Welcome back. Well, as soon as I saw the title,
- 27:03Speaker 1: I was expecting a sequel and I was not disappointed
- 27:10Speaker 1: at all. And really it does continue to be the
- 27:16Speaker 1: great accomplishment of Jack Johnstone with Bob Bailey as Johnny Doller,
- 27:22Speaker 1: to create a world and a continuity of recurring characters
- 27:31Speaker 1: that are likable and interesting, and it's a very unique feature,
- 27:35Speaker 1: as I've said a lot of times, but it's just
- 27:38Speaker 1: incredibly special about the show because it does bring out
- 27:43Speaker 1: the character of Johnny in terms of wanting to give
- 27:46Speaker 1: these ex gangsters a full benefit of the doubt and
- 27:51Speaker 1: to really stand by them, and just how even in
- 27:54Speaker 1: a short time Johnny engenders this sort of loyalty. The
- 28:00Speaker 1: evil twin plot is of course very cliched, but it's
- 28:04Speaker 1: well executed and overall it's just a great story and
- 28:08Speaker 1: I was glad to return for another visit to Virtue.
- 28:12Speaker 1: All right, Well, listener comments and feedback, and we have
- 28:16Speaker 1: a comment on episode sixteen seventy five, The Wayward River
- 28:21Speaker 1: Matter who and This first one comes from Debbie, who says, Hi,
- 28:27Speaker 1: Adam just finished listening to Yours truly, Johnny Doller the
- 28:30Speaker 1: Wayward River Matter, episode sixteen seventy five. Loved it. Being
- 28:37Speaker 1: born and raised in Columbus, ohioan hearing all those references
- 28:40Speaker 1: to familiar places was awesome. Then the story going down
- 28:44Speaker 1: to Route twenty three to Chacote and Jackson. I still
- 28:50Speaker 1: have the family living in Jackson. Of course, the Ohio
- 28:53Speaker 1: River is further south from there, but hey, still greatest,
- 28:57Speaker 1: great story. Thanks for sharing your personal reasons for lacking
- 28:59Speaker 1: this episode. Congrats to marrying a fellow Buckeye. Well, thanks
- 29:05Speaker 1: so much for your comment, Debbie. And then Johnny Barber
- 29:09Speaker 1: says Johnny Dollar is the man, and then we receive
- 29:13Speaker 1: a tweet. Britt Reid tweets in Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar
- 29:18Speaker 1: is one of my favorite old time radio shows. Well,
- 29:23Speaker 1: thanks so much for tweeting in. And britt Reid, of course,
- 29:26Speaker 1: is the identity of the Green Hornet. And I'll say
- 29:29Speaker 1: that the Green Hornet britt Reid is one of the
- 29:33Speaker 1: more fascinating heroes in old time radio have really taken
- 29:38Speaker 1: to listening to. Generally, I listen to one episode of
- 29:41Speaker 1: The Green Hornet every week, and it's a very fascinating show.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Obviously not a detective program at all, but the whole
- 29:50Speaker 1: use of a double identity and the double identity the
- 29:54Speaker 1: Green Hornet pretending to be a crook and actually serving
- 29:58Speaker 1: an in of defeating evil and villainy, it's a very
- 30:05Speaker 1: Their episodes are very unique and so I'm definitely a
- 30:09Speaker 1: huge fan of The Green Hornet. Thanks so much for
- 30:11Speaker 1: the comment. Well, now we do turn. I have a
- 30:14Speaker 1: comment from Brian who writes regarding The Saint, and we'll
- 30:20Speaker 1: include comments on the Saint or Ellery Queen as we
- 30:23Speaker 1: get them, since we no longer have a specific day
- 30:27Speaker 1: for those programs. He writes, I know this series is
- 30:30Speaker 1: ending soon. To be honest, it was not the same
- 30:33Speaker 1: without Vincent Price. It seemed like a totally different show.
- 30:36Speaker 1: The Price version was a good bit funnier and he
- 30:39Speaker 1: was more of a ladies man. I'm so glad that
- 30:43Speaker 1: the series was featured on great detectives I would have
- 30:46Speaker 1: never experienced if not for your podcast. Well, thanks so much.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Taking the last point first, It's definitely why we do
- 30:56Speaker 1: such a variety of shows. We're just getting to Richard Diamond,
- 31:04Speaker 1: which was a show I think people were requesting all
- 31:10Speaker 1: the time at the beginning of the series, you know,
- 31:12Speaker 1: when are we going great detectives? When are we going
- 31:14Speaker 1: to get to Richard Diamond. But we've thought out a
- 31:19Speaker 1: lot of programs that people hadn't necessarily heard of and
- 31:27Speaker 1: to mix those with those that are perhaps the better known,
- 31:30Speaker 1: and so we're glad to introduce people to a variety
- 31:33Speaker 1: of shows, things like Barry Craig and uh A Saint
- 31:36Speaker 1: as well. I do think there had been some shift
- 31:39Speaker 1: in the writing and tone of the series in the
- 31:42Speaker 1: last few Vincent Price programs, and personally I do prefer Price,
- 31:47Speaker 1: but I do think that Tom Conway did grow on
- 31:50Speaker 1: me a bit. I'd be happy if lost episodes were
- 31:53Speaker 1: found for either either show. Uh Finally, we have a
- 31:58Speaker 1: new review in the tunes store for the app d
- 32:02Speaker 1: Cowgill Wrights. This is a great app. It has a
- 32:06Speaker 1: lot of shows and a great variety. It is a
- 32:08Speaker 1: great fun to listen to those radio shows. They are
- 32:12Speaker 1: more entertaining than most of TV and some current Internet programs.
- 32:17Speaker 1: I've recommended this to several people who said thanks great
- 32:20Speaker 1: for Friday of programs. Fund to listen to well, thanks
- 32:25Speaker 1: so much. Definitely appreciate you getting the app and recommending
- 32:29Speaker 1: it to your friends. And that will do it for today.
- 32:32Speaker 1: We'll be back tomorrow with Dragnet and then join us
- 32:36Speaker 1: back here next Friday another episode of Yours Truly, Johnny Doller.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Monday of next week, we welcome Michael Shane and Tuesday
- 32:44Speaker 1: Heartstone of the Death Squad. In the meantime, sender comments
