- 0:00Hello and welcome back to the Christian Reef podcast.
- 0:04I'm going to start treating this like a show.
- 0:06Now it we've gotten we've gotten past two years with this show
- 0:11and I've been listening to a lot of different podcasts from a
- 0:14realm realm range of different Industries and everything from
- 0:20wrestling to just radio related content, you name it.
- 0:25And you know, I've always done that.
- 0:27I've always been into different types.
- 0:30Of podcasts. I mean, I think it's kind of
- 0:32like a two-fold thing for me in the sense that on one hand.
- 0:36I just enjoy listening to podcasts but also I always find
- 0:41it quite inspiring and it gives me ideas and I know I kept
- 0:44banging on and on and on about, you know, doing more discussion
- 0:50based content. But for some reason, something
- 0:53was holding me back. And I think what it was was this
- 0:57kind of like, fear of If doing this kind of content, I felt
- 1:04like, for some time, you know, I might need to like get someone
- 1:08else on the show. Just to kind of Quasi interview
- 1:12me or discuss the topic and hey, I've not completely thrown out
- 1:16that idea. I think that it's a very viable
- 1:19idea and there's a lot of people that have been on the show
- 1:23before hand that I'd love to have back on and to discuss
- 1:25various topics and what not But and I've also tried to have a
- 1:30co-host in the past and just unfortunately didn't work out
- 1:34but yeah I just thought like is it interesting enough to have a
- 1:39show where it's just one person speaking?
- 1:45I don't know because there is shows that I'm aware of podcasts
- 1:49that I'm aware of that are successful where it's just one
- 1:53person speaking. But I personally don't like to
- 1:57listen to those sorts of shows. I just feel more interested in
- 2:01conversations and I kind of feel like, I mean, I don't want to
- 2:06like, predict this from my own episodes, but I kind of feel
- 2:11like logically Any episodes I do with people?
- 2:18Will perform better than episodes that I've done on my
- 2:22own but I don't know because you know I released an episode
- 2:27recently quiet, quitting your job which was just a random
- 2:32topic that I saw online that I found quite interesting.
- 2:35So I released it as a bonus episode.
- 2:38And you know, I still did research but I did research on
- 2:41the day and it was very kind of thrown together, like okay,
- 2:45here's something, let's see if this interests, people gets
- 2:48people thinking and, you know, I think it's a hot button topic.
- 2:52It's you know, whenever you're talking about workplaces and
- 2:55stuff that's going to get people, you know, interested
- 2:58talking for better or worse, but In general, doing discussion
- 3:05episodes. I found the.
- 3:10They do seem to actually have good numbers on YouTube Spotify
- 3:16or whatever the case may be comparatively.
- 3:18So even sometimes better than some of my episodes where I'm
- 3:23speaking with people. So, I think, I guess my
- 3:26long-winded way of getting to the point here because as you
- 3:31know, it takes me a while sometimes and I try my best not
- 3:34to get it to just kind of like, talk insane, you know, nonsense.
- 3:40Clay. But I kind of feel like, maybe
- 3:44if I'm gonna do a podcast or continued to keep doing a
- 3:47podcast, then I have to be able to get better at just talking
- 3:52randomly about whatever, but also trying to keep it
- 3:57structured to some extent because I listen to a lot of
- 4:01shows that don't have that structure.
- 4:05And it's just a bit of a mess and it's kind of infuriating to
- 4:08follow us or like it's you you have to have that structure in
- 4:11any podcast that you do. You have to have that structure.
- 4:13Don't worry. What I will get to the topic
- 4:15very soon for today's show and I'll break down what I'm going
- 4:17to talk to you about. But I just wanted to kind of
- 4:20highlight this at the beginning and I think this will be
- 4:22probably the last time I actually talked about like, oh
- 4:24hey guess what I'm doing, another discussion episode.
- 4:27And now I'm going to spend the next five or 10 minutes
- 4:29explaining why I think that this is risky or why I'm afraid of
- 4:34it. Whatever.
- 4:37But yet to tell you the truth, the reason I'm afraid of it is
- 4:40because I just feel like I'm boring.
- 4:42I feel like if it's just me, that's not interesting, but
- 4:47they're not, I don't know. I really don't know.
- 4:50The numbers. Suggest something else.
- 4:53The numbers for the discussion episodes, suggest that maybe
- 4:58these episodes are interesting and if that's the case, I'm more
- 5:03than happy to do them. Because one really, really good
- 5:06thing about these discussion episodes is that they kind of
- 5:09give me an out. If I have an instance where a
- 5:11guest drops out or I just don't have a guest or something, then
- 5:15I don't have to rely on Desperately Seeking guests.
- 5:18I can also, you know, explore a topic research, a topic and go
- 5:23at length of it and you know, former podcast based on that
- 5:29recently. I've started doing freelance
- 5:32writing again I never Stopped, you know, I don't I was always
- 5:35doing I've always been doing freelance copy writing and
- 5:39writing in general since 2018 but recently I had a shift I was
- 5:46doing freelance sales and then I shifted in the space of a month
- 5:51right back to writing articles again.
- 5:54But the reason I bring this up is that every article that I
- 5:57write, I do extensive research for and it kind of reminded me a
- 6:03lot. Of how I structure a podcast to
- 6:07be honest. It's a similar structure and I
- 6:10find that really interesting because when you're building an
- 6:13article or at least the way I build it is, I don't necessarily
- 6:17go from top to bottom. I kind of like, find a bunch of
- 6:22headlines that make sense throughout that article and kind
- 6:26of piece it together slowly. And once I've got the basic
- 6:29structure of what I want to write, then I start writing, you
- 6:32know, and that's you know, Article was pieced together
- 6:35differently but that's essentially the same way that I
- 6:38approach it each and every time. And the way I approach a podcast
- 6:42is kind of similar, you know, I'll sit down.
- 6:44I think like, what's the point of this particular podcast?
- 6:49What is the point of this episode?
- 6:52And sometimes I struggle with that, I found recently that
- 6:56sometimes, and this happens to me in general conversations,
- 6:59well, I'll have moments where I kind of lose my point.
- 7:04I lose track. Track of what I'm trying to
- 7:05achieve and that's why it helps to have notes and stuff like
- 7:08that. You know, always have something
- 7:10that helps to guide you you know keep you back on track and
- 7:14sometimes it even happens when I have a guest on the show and I
- 7:17ask them a question but in the middle of building up the
- 7:20question and giving it some context I lose myself.
- 7:23Or I lose the question that I'm trying to present to the person
- 7:28it happened with one of my guests Arnold or Nord since
- 7:32Paul. I was just off that day.
- 7:36It was a really, really hot day. I was stressed about different
- 7:40things. Maybe I should have rescheduled.
- 7:43I wasn't at my best unfortunately and I still you
- 7:47know I still think it's a good show and I still put it out
- 7:49regardless, but I just felt like I let myself down here.
- 7:54I need to do better next time, you know, I need to be on it all
- 7:58times, but basically my point is I'm trying to avoid doing that
- 8:02losing myself like tryna stay. As focused as possible and not
- 8:07deviate Too Much. From the point I'm trying to
- 8:10make or lose myself because while it might be good to Lose
- 8:15Yourself, sometimes in a topic at the end of the day, you know,
- 8:20you don't you don't want to completely lose it and then
- 8:22you're just rambling and that's kind of my point.
- 8:24I don't want to ramble and I guess this is just like an intro
- 8:29to this this episode where I have been ironically rambling.
- 8:34But I just wanted to give you some context about why I'm going
- 8:37to sort of start doing more and more of these discussion
- 8:41episodes and that leads me to well, the beginning of a new
- 8:47series, really. I've been planning this dream
- 8:52series. I don't know how many parts this
- 8:54going to be, but I've already got some topics in mind and out
- 8:59of all of them. This one is a topic that is a
- 9:03bit more fun. Fun.
- 9:06Not to say that the others won't be fun, but they're a bit more
- 9:08serious and a bit more scientific.
- 9:11Whereas, this one is just kind of I don't know how to put this.
- 9:19Random maybe if I explain some of it, some of the topics that
- 9:23I'm going through. So today's topic is strange and
- 9:26vivid dreams, weird, and unusual dreams.
- 9:29That I've had throughout my life ones in particular.
- 9:32That I recall, because I don't know when it comes to dreams,
- 9:37sometimes I remember them, but most of the time, I forget them
- 9:42but these dreams. I've remembered one of the
- 9:45dreams I had recently actually, but we'll get to that at the
- 9:47end. But most of these dreams I've
- 9:50held onto for one reason or another, and I thought it might
- 9:55be interesting to share them with you, but to also maybe kind
- 9:59of discuss what the point behind the might be as well.
- 10:05Because I know that was one idea I had for a dreams topic was to
- 10:09kind of explore the meanings of dreams and I think I might do
- 10:13that in. In some shape or capacity, I
- 10:17don't know if I've mentioned it before, but I suffer from sleep
- 10:20paralysis and to, or acute extent, also sleep apnea.
- 10:25So that will be one of the topics that will be coming up in
- 10:27this dream series, or sleeping dream series.
- 10:31I think I'm going to call it. And then this, this is the first
- 10:35part in a strange and vivid dreams.
- 10:37And then I can't remember off the top of my head, I got it
- 10:39written down behind me, but I'm going to go behind me.
- 10:41There's two other parts to it. Maybe more, I don't know.
- 10:45Depends, if you have questions, things that you want to send in
- 10:48by all means send them in and maybe I can make a show out that
- 10:51as well. But in any case I thought having
- 10:56structure on top of structure might help.
- 10:59So obviously I'm always going to have a structure for each and
- 11:02every show that I do that's just how I roll.
- 11:05I'll Panic otherwise I'll just lose myself and helps me to
- 11:10guide myself and keeping you keep on the on the right track.
- 11:13But I thought I would do this because it's stuff that's kind
- 11:17of close to me, close to my to my heart stuff that I'm dealing
- 11:21with and have dealt with, throughout my life.
- 11:24And that's kind of always been a theme with every topic that I've
- 11:27done. I try to explore it from like a
- 11:30general perspective, maybe a scientific perspective, if
- 11:33there's that angle on it. And also my personal
- 11:36perspective, anything that I can share an opinion on the, I've
- 11:43personally dealt With or have experiences of I feel like that
- 11:46makes for a more interesting show, but that's just my
- 11:49opinion. What do I know?
- 11:51But this is the first part strange and vivid dreams.
- 11:55So why don't we just jump straight into it because of what
- 11:57rambled on now, for 12 minutes wasted enough time, if you
- 12:02haven't left me already, then thank you very much for getting
- 12:04up to this point and yeah, here we go.
- 12:08So one of the first dreams that I remember and I can't remember
- 12:12when I had this. I think I had this Sometime
- 12:14around my early twenties. Maybe the dream is basically
- 12:22when I, when I was younger I used to go to a lot of skate
- 12:25parks. I did skateboarding for about
- 12:27seven or eight years started. When I was 11 years old and I
- 12:31think I stopped around 17 18 picked up briefly when I was at
- 12:35Uni again. But basically it was a thing
- 12:38that I did in my teenage years. Anyway there are particular
- 12:42skateparks that I went to Near where I lived.
- 12:45And also up in London, where I grew up and I suppose it's
- 12:50inevitable that, you know, you spend enough time in certain
- 12:52places they're going to become part of your dreams.
- 12:55I mean that's happened in plenty of other dreams.
- 12:58I've had where I've kind of been in a building or seen a building
- 13:02or a house or something that has remnants Of things from real
- 13:08life. Or it feels like somewhere I'm
- 13:09familiar with but it's not. There's been other times when
- 13:12I've been in a place where I'm absolutely certain that it's a
- 13:17place that I've been before within the dream and sometimes
- 13:22in the dream I'll recognize like oh this is such and such place
- 13:25and I'll actually maybe even realize in the dream that hey,
- 13:28I'm Dreaming. This is from The Real World and
- 13:30I'm actually in dream state. What will happen more often than
- 13:33not is I'll be in the building or in the ASA, wherever it is.
- 13:38And I'll be like, oh, that's not quite right?
- 13:40And that's different and that doesn't look quite right.
- 13:44Anyway, this particular dream was about a skatepark that I
- 13:47used to go to. That was quite close to
- 13:50somewhere that I lived actually at one point and for the most
- 13:55part, the skatepark resembled in the dream, what it looks like in
- 14:00real life or at least at the time.
- 14:03But the gaping difference, From buildings perspective, was that
- 14:08in the far right corner. There was this random building
- 14:12and of course in real life, it's just a skate park with just a
- 14:15like, a sort of a high medium level fence, around it, a few
- 14:20ramps here and there. It's all metal ramps and that's
- 14:23it, not really much else to say. But this building in the corner,
- 14:28just kind of sits, then it's one of those flat level.
- 14:31Obviously type buildings. It kind of reminded me for the
- 14:35UK listeners of this show, you may recall when you were growing
- 14:39up. There was those temporary
- 14:40buildings that they always said we're temporary.
- 14:44But now they've been there for like 20, 30 odd years so they
- 14:47were actually just cheap buildings that they never
- 14:48intended to create maybe at one time.
- 14:52They actually planned to replace that spot with a real building
- 14:56and that was actually just a temporary fix.
- 14:59But in any case those Temporary buildings.
- 15:02Weren't each and every single School seemingly because many
- 15:06primary school kids and even secondary school kids have
- 15:10spoken about having memories of temporary buildings that it
- 15:13makes me laugh because it's like, oh, okay, so that's just
- 15:16something they had everywhere then I guess.
- 15:18All right, then but anyway, this building in this dream, sort of
- 15:21resembled that. And it was kind of like the
- 15:24Doctor Who Tardis in the sense that it's bigger on the inside,
- 15:27looks like a small tiny square like building.
- 15:30But It's much bigger on the inside but we'll get there.
- 15:34The skatepark looked different in real life.
- 15:38It's a metal skate park. I do remember when I was a kid
- 15:41actually that sometimes in the middle of summer, if you fell
- 15:45down on the ramp and obviously some metals which attracts the
- 15:49heat it would hurt so much, your arms would literally burn if you
- 15:55want it. And of course, we would all have
- 15:58our shirts off and staff wearing shorts.
- 16:00So we would burn I'm more so fun times and I remember you know
- 16:06falling on on metal ramps hurts quite a bit.
- 16:09Hello siren ruining my podcast. I'd have no luck.
- 16:12I live right next to a main road so I just have to deal with it.
- 16:17There you go. It probably won't sound as loud
- 16:19for you but for me it's deafeningly loud anyway.
- 16:24I remember the pain of falling on these ramps, wasn't that bad?
- 16:28You get used to it but, you know, it was painful enough.
- 16:32In this dream. However, all the ramps were made
- 16:35of wood and, you know, falling on wood is not as painful as
- 16:39falling on metal in real life. But in the dream, obviously, it
- 16:44had that kind of experience of, you know, when nothing hurts.
- 16:48I find this happens a lot in dreams, there's several tropes
- 16:51that happen happen in dreams. Some of them include inability
- 16:56to run or running really slowly. Or you know you're trying to get
- 16:59away from the monster or whatever.
- 17:00And you just can't All it will be time moving differently or
- 17:08just things in the real world that work.
- 17:10In the way that they work. Do not apply in dreams
- 17:15seemingly. And so I remember in the dream
- 17:19instead of being on skateboards and bicycles and stuff like that
- 17:22we were all on like children's bicycles.
- 17:25Like tricycle that you know those little things that
- 17:27toddlers to cycle on we were all riding on those. for some
- 17:32reason, and I seem to be the only one falling over I think
- 17:39but no one cared. No it wasn't embarrassing or
- 17:41anything like that. I do remember in the dream being
- 17:45worried of that but then I immediately realized it didn't
- 17:48matter because my bigger fear of falling over and hurting myself
- 17:53was was, you know, is why wasn't wasn't something to be to be
- 17:57scared off because it just didn't happen.
- 17:59So I'm just kind of like, okay. All right, then this is odd.
- 18:04I don't think in the dream I'd realized.
- 18:06The dream. So I was just sitting there
- 18:07like, what's going on? What is this?
- 18:10Anyway, I sort of throw the the bicycle way and walk over to the
- 18:15building. I don't know what my rationale
- 18:17was. I guess I'm just kind of like
- 18:19what's going on. I want to explore.
- 18:20What's in this building. I've always been like that as a
- 18:24person too curious for my own good.
- 18:28I always just want to know. Nosy maybe is the word anyway
- 18:33and walk into the building and I recalled that it was just a
- 18:37series of various different hallways, with massive windows,
- 18:43and it just went forever, just keep walking around.
- 18:46Remember that was kind of like blue carpets.
- 18:49Those awful blue carpets that you sometimes got in those
- 18:52school buildings. It just looked like school
- 18:55buildings, like the connecting school buildings that look a
- 18:58senior score primary school or something like that.
- 19:02Not bad or terrible in any way, just unimaginative and You know,
- 19:08it's just boring, corridors, I guess but then suddenly I walk
- 19:13out of a particular door and lo and behold, I'm in the middle of
- 19:17the ocean and I look up and there's a huge mountain.
- 19:23So this is where the big cliche comes.
- 19:26So I'm looking at this mountain and then at some point I attempt
- 19:29to start climbing it. And I think I got about a
- 19:31quarter of the way up and then boom.
- 19:33I wake up the naturally and I've Didn't the meaning of that, but
- 19:39I assume that the meaning is supposed to be something along
- 19:43the lines of, you know, I have this obstacle in my life that I
- 19:48need to overcome. And, you know, that the Journey
- 19:51of a Thousand Miles begins with a single step, you know, that
- 19:54kind of stuff. But I never really looked into
- 19:57it but I just figured it was something like that or maybe
- 20:01just a really, really odd dream. You know, sometimes you just get
- 20:05our dreams. But one thing that's interesting
- 20:10and I've seen this with dreams, like, you know, losing your
- 20:13teeth, because I have a lot of Dreams.
- 20:15Actually, that's reminded me because I'd forgotten about
- 20:17this. I have so many dreams where I
- 20:20lose teeth. It's bizarre, and it feels so
- 20:24real as well. I know, they'll always be a part
- 20:27of the dream, where I sort of walk into a bathroom and
- 20:30desperately try and like, put all the teeth back in my mouth,
- 20:33fix it. And then, the weird thing about
- 20:36it is in the dream, it will fix it.
- 20:38Self and I'll suddenly become again and then I'll wake up
- 20:43weird. But my point with that is that
- 20:47when I looked into the interpretations of why, what it
- 20:52means to lose your teeth within a dream, there was like, a
- 20:55hundred different interpretations.
- 20:58So I don't know when it comes to interpreting dreams and maybe
- 21:00that's something we can look up. One day as a topic for this
- 21:03series. I don't know, let me know your
- 21:05thoughts on that. I don't know where to begin, you
- 21:09know because some of them sound plausible, some of them sound
- 21:11kind of outlandish and some of them conflict with each other
- 21:15and they say the opposite of each other.
- 21:16So it's really Hard to tell like where you stand with that stuff.
- 21:22Anyway, let's move on. I've had a lot of dreams, like
- 21:27horrible dreams, and that's going to form to the rest of
- 21:31this podcast. This is a very short dream.
- 21:35I had a dream about a I guess like a serial killer or
- 21:39something like that and they're running around with it like a
- 21:43knife or something like that. It looks like a large dagger and
- 21:47they're trying to kill Kill me, but the thing is normally in a
- 21:52dream like that you'd be terrified.
- 21:54I wasn't scared at all. I remember being a bit weirded
- 21:58out by the freakiness of this, you know, killer.
- 22:04But at the same time, I wasn't concerned at all.
- 22:07I didn't have that impending doom like feeling that you
- 22:10sometimes, get in those dreams where you feel like, I don't
- 22:11know, don't catch me. Like, if you catch me, you going
- 22:14to kill me, you know, that kind of fear.
- 22:17I didn't have. and I distinctly remember, there's a really weird
- 22:20part of the dream where we're in, like, a massive I don't
- 22:25know, like one of those old style School gyms or something
- 22:29like that. You know, the ones that are like
- 22:30built in the probably in the 70s or whatever and they've never
- 22:33changed. They've just always looked the
- 22:34same. And for some reason, there was a
- 22:38piano in the far corner of one of them and I chose to run and
- 22:42hide behind the piano. And then the killer I sort of
- 22:47look up at one point, The Killers walking towards me and
- 22:51the next day, you know, turn it's like a horror movie.
- 22:53I turn look to my left and the Killer's looking at me smiling.
- 22:56And and then I wake up, I think and I wasn't scared even when I
- 23:01woke up. I was just like, what was that
- 23:03about but what was the point of that?
- 23:06What's and that's kind of the frustrating thing is, I always
- 23:09wake up from these dreams thinking that what is the
- 23:11purpose of this? What does this mean?
- 23:14I would love to know. What this means because it means
- 23:16nothing. Maybe it's just a wild ride and
- 23:18it's fun. But I kid you not some of these
- 23:20dreams feel very, very real disturbingly.
- 23:25So sometimes they weird me out for a long time.
- 23:28They freaked me out and this next dream.
- 23:31Is the worst dream I've ever had in my life.
- 23:37I remember it vividly and I think the main reason other than
- 23:41the dark horrible themes the main reason why I remember it is
- 23:45because it feels like the plot of a horror movie.
- 23:48And I sleep for sometime, I thought about maybe turning this
- 23:51into a bucket actual screenplay for for a horror movie but I'm
- 23:56just sharing it on this podcast. If someone wants to make it into
- 23:59a movie, go right ahead. But I don't know.
- 24:02Let me know in the comments. What you, what?
- 24:05You think of this. So, I had this horrible dream
- 24:08where I'm walking in some Woods, very, very tall trees.
- 24:12It's one of those kind of forests, you could kind of lose
- 24:15yourself in, and I appear to be with school friends.
- 24:18Friends. And one thing I just want to say
- 24:20on a side note, is a lot of the time in my experience.
- 24:24When I've had people, I know in dreams, it will never be done.
- 24:29Never quite look like how they look in real life.
- 24:32Sometimes they'll be exactly how how they look in real life, but
- 24:35like, maybe their personalities different or something like
- 24:37that. I, they never just their actual
- 24:39selves. In this dream.
- 24:43It was more or less spot on one of them was someone.
- 24:46I recognize the other one. I couldn't really distinguish
- 24:49but I understood in the dream that okay.
- 24:52These are people that I go to school with us or something like
- 24:54that. And I remember that it was three
- 24:58of us and they were walking slightly ahead of me and I
- 25:01remember feeling a sense of like fear and doom like we shouldn't
- 25:06be walking into this Forest. Like this is dodgy.
- 25:08We should keep going. But it was literally like a
- 25:10horror movie like and like think about how many horror movie pots
- 25:13of your scene where there's like three characters or four
- 25:16characters and there's one person saying no no, we
- 25:18shouldn't go there man. Like what if this happens is
- 25:21exactly like that but like I felt like a deep kind of Pending
- 25:28dread within the dream and I recall that we got to something
- 25:33looking like a wooden cabin, which had these like glass panel
- 25:40there, like a big, huge window, glass panel, see-through door.
- 25:46And I remember looking at it and instantly saying, to the friends
- 25:49in the dream, like we shouldn't go near this, this is dangerous.
- 25:53We should head back and they were kind of like, mocking me in
- 25:56a kind of friendly. Leeway like oh ha ha.
- 25:58Don't be such a fraidy. Cat.
- 26:00There's nothing to be scared of excetera but I remember thinking
- 26:03like in the dream. No, no, no, this is serious.
- 26:06This is real. We need to get away from this.
- 26:10Anyway. We eventually woke up to the
- 26:13cabin, they kind of run inside and before I can actually I tell
- 26:18a lie so there was no that window that I just explained the
- 26:22window. Door thing.
- 26:23Wasn't actually the entrance there was even an Open Door.
- 26:27All I could just open space that you can walk in like a.
- 26:30I think it was just pitch black actually, but when I walked into
- 26:33the house, that was it, then I saw that window pane see-through
- 26:38door thing and Italy. There was like a switch, you
- 26:43know, like how sometimes in Dreams, they're stuck.
- 26:45A kind of It doesn't move like a, like, a normal story or
- 26:50normal life works, you know, it's like a shift almost and now
- 26:55there's another shift that occurs in this dream, but in
- 26:57this particular moment, it goes from me being concerned to them
- 27:02behind that window, pane glass dorm my friends and the dream
- 27:06screaming. Same how power powered like
- 27:09please help us. You know, and I'm desperately
- 27:11trying to get to them and I can't get to them and In the
- 27:16dream, it sort of implies, I can't see them but it implies
- 27:19that there's like Killers behind them trying to get them and I
- 27:23can't get to them then another shift occurs.
- 27:26So we go from that. It's almost like skipping a
- 27:29scene in a movie. You know what just happened.
- 27:32I then skip to what looks like a Old 18th century school or
- 27:39something like that? Like a, it's like a period drama
- 27:44almost. And it looks like it's an
- 27:46all-girls school for like maybe young girls between the ages of
- 27:52like 11:15, something like that, and they're all standing on like
- 27:57american-style bleaches, and it kind of looks like a class photo
- 28:02something like that. and, But then it kind of also looks like
- 28:08maybe like an assembly like a serious assembly by immediately
- 28:13in the dream. Link it to the events that just
- 28:16happened before. I'm like hang on.
- 28:18There's a connection here like something terrible has happened
- 28:22and from what I understand of the dream it kind of implies
- 28:25that that Cabin in the Woods, maybe has been back home to
- 28:32terrible deeds and it's connected with this Like Girls
- 28:34School. and, Like when I remember looking at the faces of
- 28:41the girls, in the crowd on the bleachers, some of them had
- 28:45like, Samba looking faces, like to suggest that like dark and
- 28:49terrible. Things have happened.
- 28:51And I remember there was like a pint Thor, you know, like those
- 28:55things that you get in commencement speeches or
- 28:59whatever, when people were speaking a stand it was one of
- 29:02them and there's like a teacher who's talking about the events.
- 29:05By can't quite hear what they're saying that they're not really.
- 29:09Making any sense that just saying like terrible, something
- 29:12Terrible's happened at a. Then I wake up, which is very
- 29:17frustrating because I was like, well, I wanted to know more.
- 29:19I want to investigate the dream, you know, if this were a movie,
- 29:23this would feel like the beginning of the movie.
- 29:25So, I'm just wondering what's going on, but in all
- 29:29seriousness, like I had a very disturbing feeling.
- 29:32When I woke up, it felt very real.
- 29:36Surreal would be a better word and every now and again I'll
- 29:41have a dream like that and normally I've noticed a
- 29:45connection between having those types of dreams and then things
- 29:51I've sort of done for them from the night before.
- 29:53So, for example, if I didn't I went to bed at a weird time.
- 29:58Then I'm more likely to have a nightmare like that if I was
- 30:02drinking the night before, I'm more likely to have nightmares
- 30:06whenever my pattern is interfered not Pat, sleeping
- 30:10pattern is interfered with. That's when I have those dreams
- 30:14and I always seem to dream or at least it feels like I'm dreaming
- 30:19in the morning. That's the thing, the dream,
- 30:23prolongs. And it feels like it's most
- 30:26realistic point just, before I wake up there, maybe that's not
- 30:30true. I don't know, but that's how it
- 30:31feels. And that connects me to a dream.
- 30:36I had last night as I record this And I think this is kind of
- 30:42the motivation behind me doing this this particular episode and
- 30:46sort of prompted me to push forward, this dream series.
- 30:50As I mentioned at the beginning of this show, I suffer from
- 30:53sleep paralysis and sleep apnea. And I will, at one point.
- 31:00Do an extensive episode on both of those topics and tell you
- 31:04about all my experiences with regards to that.
- 31:08But the reason why I wanted to bring it up in this episode is
- 31:13to kind of illustrate that I've had some days here and there in
- 31:17more recent times in more recent years, where it's kind of been
- 31:22You know, quite quite prevalent, quite distressing.
- 31:27But it's kind of slow down and I'll go into more detail in that
- 31:33episode. Let me know if you want to hear
- 31:35it but suffice to say it's sort of calm down a little bit.
- 31:41But last night was one of the worst bounce.
- 31:45I've had in quite a few years. because normally when it happens
- 31:52I'm able to sort of calm myself down like I'm consciously aware
- 31:56that it's happening but The in this instance it is, you know I
- 32:02remember really like jolting myself and really trying to
- 32:06force myself to wake up and it was not working and I really
- 32:08felt like I was suffocating at one point and in connection to
- 32:16that. I also had this dream last night
- 32:19which I don't remember, the majority of the dream but this
- 32:22is what I do remember and I've written it down here so I didn't
- 32:26forget anything. I was sitting at a table
- 32:29Surrounded by a few other men. Seems like we were working for
- 32:35someone like, there's a manager there that can't quite see, but
- 32:39they're there and they're either angry or that this don't like
- 32:45us. They don't treat us with any
- 32:46respect and wood. I'm just kind of sitting there
- 32:52like kind of downtrodden I suppose.
- 32:55And this manager basically froze, like a severance package
- 33:00in the form of a pay packet at the guy beside me.
- 33:05It's like one of those old pay packets that you get with, like,
- 33:08cash in it and they've written on it, laters, implying that the
- 33:14manager is basically serving this as a severance package
- 33:17like, Yeah, by claa you're fired.
- 33:19Here's your final pay kind. A very kind of that distasteful
- 33:22way of firing someone and I looked at that and then look
- 33:26back at the table and then the boss throws, one at me and I
- 33:31looked down at it and then I sort of look to the guy next to
- 33:35me and he kind of goes. Yep.
- 33:37Like, you know, guess you're fired too kind of thing then I
- 33:41wake up, although I didn't wake up.
- 33:44Normally did I, I experienced that bout of sleep, paralysis
- 33:49and sleep apnea. yeah, and it sucked but hey it prompted me to
- 33:57do this episode and You know. I don't know that we'll ever
- 34:06really know the definite, the point of Dreams, especially our
- 34:11strangest and most vivid dreams, but I like to think that Whether
- 34:17they have a point or not, they do demonstrate that the mind is
- 34:22always working and processing things.
- 34:26And whether that's subconsciously or consciously I
- 34:29can only be a good thing, you know, I read recently as do some
- 34:35research with regards to dreams and I read something that said
- 34:38that one of the ways that you can help yourself with sleeping
- 34:42is to write things down on a piece of paper that you're To
- 34:47figure out in your mind, the problem, basically, doing if
- 34:50you've got problems that you need to solve the best thing you
- 34:53can do before. Going to sleep, is to write down
- 34:57either some thoughts or an answer or something to those
- 35:00problems on a piece of paper. And then put it down and then go
- 35:05to sleep. Because then your brain will
- 35:08essentially like stop trying to solve the problem, which in turn
- 35:14will prevent you from staying awake because that's always a
- 35:17danger, isn't it? When you're when you're up at
- 35:19night and your brain is still racing and you just can't stop
- 35:24thinking and it's, it's great. Sometimes if you're a creative,
- 35:28you know, you can use that to your advantage, but sometimes
- 35:30it's just not useful at all. Sometimes, it's Very distressing
- 35:35and it's I don't know. You just sit in there and you're
- 35:38just thinking about things that happened years and years and
- 35:41years ago or you thinking about things that you're dealing with
- 35:44in your life at that point in time and you can't change them.
- 35:48So you just sit in there with your thoughts, getting anxious
- 35:52getting worried and concerned because you can't sleep
- 35:55properly. And you're just like, what do I
- 35:58do with this? I don't know what I'm supposed
- 36:01to do and we I would like to think that you're supposed to
- 36:05try and address those problems if at all possible.
- 36:08It seems very logical, doesn't it?
- 36:10And certainly all the information online about dreams
- 36:14seems to suggest that The more anxious dreams we have or the
- 36:20more stressful dreams. We have, they're supposed to
- 36:24represent things, they're supposed to be like messages
- 36:26telling us like, hey, you need to do something about this thing
- 36:30that you're worried about concerned about or, you know,
- 36:34whatever the case may be. But then it also seems to be as
- 36:37I mentioned before a response to physical physiological changes.
- 36:42So if you drastically change your sleeping, Typing pattern,
- 36:46or if you find yourself drinking for to lay or your stay up past
- 36:51your bedtime or something like that, then it can just escalate
- 36:54into completely messing your sleeping pad and then causing
- 36:57you to have nightmares. It's weird.
- 37:02You know? I mean, I don't really have
- 37:04nightmares such. I have these like weird dreams,
- 37:07but I never really wake up feeling scared.
- 37:11There's only one instance I've had of that, which I'll cover in
- 37:15the sleep paralysis. / sleep, apnea Episode.
- 37:19So, you'll have to wait to see that to listen to that, but As I
- 37:26recall, that's the only instance that I can think of where it's
- 37:29actually happened. I've woken up yet sweating and
- 37:33stuff like that, but not really in relation to nightmares.
- 37:36It's just a lot of the time. The only time I've ever really
- 37:39like, woken up scared is whenever I've had a bout of
- 37:42sleep paralysis and that's not because of the dream that the
- 37:46concern for me, is, you know, waking up not being able to wake
- 37:50up like having something stunting, my ability to wake up.
- 37:55It's terrifying to be honest. Then again, what will cover it
- 38:01in more detail in more detail more detail.
- 38:04I never know how to pronounce things properly when we get
- 38:08there to that episode. But you know, let me know your
- 38:12thoughts on on this episode. I know it was a shorter episode
- 38:16and I kind of feel like, maybe it's not as good as I thought it
- 38:21would be. I thought I could share a lot of
- 38:22dreams and be like, hey, this is really interesting, isn't it?
- 38:25But now I'm listening back to it and I'm like, It's the ramblings
- 38:29of a Madman. But I don't know.
- 38:33Everyone has different opinions. These are just my thoughts and
- 38:35feelings on these dreams. Let me know your thoughts and
- 38:38feelings. Let me know.
- 38:38If you have any questions related to this topic.
- 38:43As I said I've got a few ideas in mind for this dream series
- 38:47very excited to continue doing these discussion-based episodes
- 38:52and continue. Moving forward with you know
- 38:54different style of content, just going back to that.
- 38:59Feel free to send me ideas for things that you'd like me to
- 39:02cover, you know, where that stuff that's going on in the
- 39:05world right now, or just general topics that I can work around.
- 39:09I mean, depending on what the topic is, I might be able to
- 39:11find a personal angle to it as well, and be able to share some
- 39:15personal Insight or experiences or whatever the case may be.
- 39:18Because I feel like that is, is when and topic is really, really
- 39:22interesting. When you get personal Insight
- 39:23stories experiences things, you can You know, a real that the
- 39:29person is sharing about their own life and experiences that
- 39:32feels much more interesting than just listening to like I don't
- 39:35know. Basic facts but then again, I
- 39:38don't know. Maybe that's your thing.
- 39:39You know, if you're into basic fact-based style podcast then
- 39:44that would be ideal. When can you tell I'm rambling
- 39:48yet? It's time to close it down.
- 39:52Got one down Christian come on time to end the episode.
- 39:55Thank you so much for listening and watching I hope you're
- 39:58enjoying the show as much as I am.
- 40:00I hope that you enjoy these these discussion-based episodes.
- 40:04Let me know if you do let me know.
- 40:06If you don't, just let me know. Thank you so much for listening.
- 40:10Be safe, be well, and I'll see you in the next one.
