- 0:11Speaker 1: Hey, everybody. Welcome to You Girls Gone Hallmark a bonus
- 0:13Speaker 1: episode of Long Story Shorts podcast. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy,
- 0:18Speaker 1: and today we were discussing Christmas at Castle Heart. This
- 0:21Speaker 1: week's Hallmark Movie Extravaganza where we go through many of
- 0:26Speaker 1: the merry Thanksgiving weekend movies and this one stars our girl,
- 0:30Speaker 1: Lacey Shabert. If you want more Christmas movie reviews from us,
- 0:35Speaker 1: you can find never before heard episodes on Patreon, which
- 0:39Speaker 1: can be found at patreon dot com slash Megan and Wendy,
- 0:42Speaker 1: and for just three dollars a month, less than any

- 0:49Speaker 1: episodes there. You can also follow us on Instagram, where
- 0:52Speaker 1: you can usually vote for the holiday movie review each week.
- 0:55Speaker 1: This week we yanked that privilege away because there were
- 0:57Speaker 1: too many movies we could not choose. We will not
- 1:01Speaker 1: be reviewing The Nine Kidden of Christmas, however, it's in
- 1:04Speaker 1: the past. Do you have a synopsis of this movie?
- 1:08Speaker 2: I Do Christmas at Castle Heart. Brooke Bennett goes to
- 1:12Speaker 2: Ireland for Christmas to search for her Irish roots. While there,
- 1:16Speaker 2: she meets Aiden Hart, mistaken for an elite event planner.
- 1:21Speaker 2: She's hired to host the castle's epic Christmas party.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Is she Mistaken?
- 1:27Speaker 2: Mistaken? Is a stretch.
- 1:31Speaker 1: In news and notes for this movie. I would like
- 1:33Speaker 1: to point you to an earlier episode of this podcast,
- 1:36Speaker 1: recorded in October twenty twenty. It is episode number four
- 1:41Speaker 1: titled Do You Believe in Ghosts? And I Tell my
- 1:44Speaker 1: own personal Ireland ghost story? And watching this movie reminded
- 1:48Speaker 1: me of my time in Ireland very much, particularly of
- 1:52Speaker 1: the location in which I experienced that ghost story. Because
- 1:54Speaker 1: they were near there, I was hoping they might film
- 1:57Speaker 1: there because it does have a real castle feel. They
- 2:00Speaker 1: did not, but give that episode a listen.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Where were you again?
- 2:04Speaker 1: We're in a Dare manor which is in Limerick County.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Okay, they did film this in Limerick County, right indeed,
- 2:12Speaker 2: and in and in Claire. Did you go to Claire
- 2:15Speaker 2: when you were there?
- 2:16Speaker 1: I don't know, honestly, Ennis, No, I don't think so.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Yeah. I saw that they had filmed in Clare, Limerick
- 2:26Speaker 2: and Innis counties, which is really hard for me to understand,
- 2:30Speaker 2: like because well, you have counties here or too, Like
- 2:34Speaker 2: is it widespread like that there? I don't know that
- 2:38Speaker 2: very close.
- 2:38Speaker 1: But at one point she drives into Dublin and Limerick.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I believe it's two hours from Dublin, so it's not
- 2:46Speaker 1: like they're just going to pop into Dublin for a meeting.
- 2:48Speaker 1: They filmed at Drumalen Castle hotel and country club, which
- 2:51Speaker 1: you can go stay in, and they also filmed at
- 2:54Speaker 1: Lochkutra Castle in Galway and ken Vara in Galway Bay.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Did you go to any of those places? I honestly
- 3:01Speaker 1: don't remember. I don't think so.
- 3:05Speaker 2: I saw that they had filmed at three castles, but.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Why why? I think one was the interior or two
- 3:15Speaker 1: were the interior.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I was kind of dated, don't you think so? The
- 3:18Speaker 2: interior of where whatever castle they were at.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I mean keep in mind, okay're older then, I know,
- 3:26Speaker 1: but if the if you owned a castle, if.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I want you to stay at a castle, I want
- 3:33Speaker 2: it to be modernized. I do not want it.
- 3:35Speaker 1: To be ugly. Yeah, we'll leave a photo of a
- 3:40Speaker 1: Dare Manor, which is my favorite place in Ireland, and
- 3:42Speaker 1: it again has a castle field, but is very updated,
- 3:45Speaker 1: very it was recently renovated, contemporary on the interior. Yeah,
- 3:48Speaker 1: it does not feel like you're staying in an old,
- 3:50Speaker 1: stuffy castle feels like you're staying in a lovely resort,
- 3:53Speaker 1: which you are, so you get both.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Lacey gave an interview that it was warm, not rainy
- 3:59Speaker 2: while filming in Ireland, and that's lucky because my parents
- 4:02Speaker 2: were just there. And I asked my mom when they
- 4:04Speaker 2: were back, Yes, just before Thanksgiving, and I asked my
- 4:07Speaker 2: mom how the weather was, and she said it was Irish.
- 4:12Speaker 2: It was cold and rainy and cool and gets dark early.
- 4:15Speaker 2: So they got lucky that they got so much sun. Okay,
- 4:18Speaker 2: so let me ask you. It was obviously like photoshop
- 4:23Speaker 2: snow on those like wide landscape scenes that we saw.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I would imagine there's not a lot of Ireland doesn't
- 4:32Speaker 1: get a lot of snow.
- 4:33Speaker 2: But it looked like I had a dusting of it
- 4:36Speaker 2: on like the bushes and whatever. Oh.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I don't think they would have had that in August.
- 4:41Speaker 2: I know.
- 4:41Speaker 1: So I'm asking you.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Was it photoshop?
- 4:43Speaker 1: I'm going to assume yes, Like many other things in
- 4:45Speaker 1: this movie were photoshopped.
- 4:47Speaker 2: A filter was laid, Okay, the other sad notes. I
- 4:51Speaker 2: saw that Lacey Shabbier.
- 4:55Speaker 1: It's not somebody these names. I don't think you need
- 4:57Speaker 1: to struggle with I struggle with everything. Have you not
- 5:00Speaker 1: notice It's like I'm tongue tied today?
- 5:02Speaker 2: Let it go?
- 5:03Speaker 1: U huh, lazy shavert.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Her sister recently passed, like right before this movie came
- 5:08Speaker 2: out this weekend, like I guess like last week sometime.
- 5:13Speaker 2: She shared it on her Instagram and I was like,
- 5:15Speaker 2: that's sad. She can't even like celebrate. Yeah, you know,
- 5:19Speaker 2: they're like grieving.
- 5:21Speaker 1: That's kind of sad. What was your first impression of
- 5:23Speaker 1: this movie?
- 5:24Speaker 2: My first impression of this movie is a question, Oh,
- 5:28Speaker 2: does not anyone have Google? This movie was built on
- 5:33Speaker 2: a house of flies.
- 5:36Speaker 1: My first impression is this movie did not live up
- 5:38Speaker 1: to my high hopes for it. No, it was easily
- 5:42Speaker 1: one of the top three movies I was looking forward
- 5:44Speaker 1: to this year. It will not receive top three placements.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I agree. So I had posted something on Instagram and
- 5:52Speaker 2: I was watching it and friend of ours Sharon replied,
- 5:57Speaker 2: and she's like, I cannot get into movies that are
- 6:00Speaker 2: filmed in Ireland, And I was like, why you have
- 6:03Speaker 2: to see the one from earlier this year, which I don't.
- 6:05Speaker 2: As luck would have it is what it's called fantastic.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I was like that is a great movie, and she's like, yeah,
- 6:09Speaker 2: I'm just not into it. And I was like, that's
- 6:11Speaker 2: so weird. Like I don't know if like its location
- 6:15Speaker 2: makes me not into it.
- 6:17Speaker 1: No, the location can make me more. That's not true. Okay,
- 6:21Speaker 1: So my husband doesn't typically watch like Christmas in Vienna,
- 6:26Speaker 1: Christmas in Florence. I don't know if that exists, but
- 6:29Speaker 1: he's not typically drawn to the European set Christmas movies.
- 6:33Speaker 1: He launts a small town Christmas. However, we both love Ireland,
- 6:38Speaker 1: so he did watch this one, and I was excited
- 6:43Speaker 1: because Ireland is one of my favorite places and I
- 6:45Speaker 1: do think it is nice to see it in this movie.
- 6:48Speaker 2: But but question, do you think that was the same
- 6:53Speaker 2: bar set as in Luck as Luck would have it?
- 6:56Speaker 2: No idea. I needed to see like a side by side.
- 7:00Speaker 2: It felt the same.
- 7:01Speaker 1: But you know, yeah, I know they all kind of
- 7:04Speaker 1: have that same It felt it felt generic. What did
- 7:08Speaker 1: you like about this movie? Though?
- 7:10Speaker 2: Well, sadly, not much, not much. I have two things, okay. One,
- 7:15Speaker 2: I enjoyed the ribbing that Aiden gave the sisters when
- 7:18Speaker 2: they arrived at the bar. Yes, when they were like,
- 7:21Speaker 2: do you have a cocktail menu? And then she's like,
- 7:23Speaker 2: it's beer or whiskey or whisky or beer or both.
- 7:27Speaker 2: And then he said something like he was kind of
- 7:29Speaker 2: being a little bit of a jerk about like, oh,
- 7:32Speaker 2: there's a leprecaun at the end of that rainbow over
- 7:35Speaker 2: there or whatever. I just I thought it was kind
- 7:37Speaker 2: of funny. And then I was like, ooh, is this
- 7:40Speaker 2: what like people think of Americans when we come to
- 7:43Speaker 2: visit their countries? Like that were idiots.
- 7:46Speaker 1: The Irish love Americans. They call themselves the fifty first State.
- 7:50Speaker 1: I do think many other countries think this of Americans, though,
- 7:53Speaker 1: I'm sure overall this movie was not a win for me.
- 7:56Speaker 1: But there are a few things that I liked, okay,
- 7:58Speaker 1: namely Ireland Take Me Back. It made me want to
- 8:00Speaker 1: go back. I enjoyed Ireland. Get It to Me.
- 8:03Speaker 2: That's so funny, because I thought that it did not
- 8:06Speaker 2: show Ireland as much like the landscape in as luck
- 8:10Speaker 2: would have it. I felt like we got beautiful landscape shots. Yeah,
- 8:14Speaker 2: in this movie, we really didn't give that many.
- 8:16Speaker 1: No I would agree with that, but it was enough
- 8:19Speaker 1: for me. It was enough for me to make me
- 8:20Speaker 1: want to hop on a plane. There's a funny moment
- 8:25Speaker 1: where they go on a boring castle tour and they
- 8:27Speaker 1: decided to digit and they kind of like tiptoe back. Yeah,
- 8:30Speaker 1: it's as cute. That was funny. I loved the Irish
- 8:34Speaker 1: proverbs at one point.
- 8:37Speaker 2: When they're in the bar and she's like, what are
- 8:39Speaker 2: those things mean up there?
- 8:41Speaker 1: And he says, two people shorten the road? Would you
- 8:44Speaker 1: like to hear some other Irish proverbs?
- 8:47Speaker 2: Sure?
- 8:48Speaker 1: This is from irishpost dot com. Made today be better
- 8:51Speaker 1: than yesterday, but not as good as tomorrow.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I like that.
- 8:55Speaker 1: What a sober man has in his heart the drum
- 8:57Speaker 1: has on his lips.
- 8:59Speaker 2: I don't know if I understand. Oh, because you it's
- 9:02Speaker 2: like truth serum.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Yeah, success consists of getting up just one more time
- 9:06Speaker 1: than you fall.
- 9:08Speaker 2: But let me ask you, did you see how chey
- 9:11Speaker 2: those like looked like? The posters or whatever it looked like.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I believe it.
- 9:16Speaker 2: It was like a you know, a poster board that
- 9:19Speaker 2: I bought at the local craft store and then took
- 9:22Speaker 2: some white paint and wrote something. Yeah, they were super
- 9:26Speaker 2: cheesy set design. Hello, put some effort into it. Put
- 9:32Speaker 2: some effort into it. Okay. I like the very last
- 9:34Speaker 2: two minutes of this movie when they're united with their
- 9:37Speaker 2: father's brother to lead into that some more like seriously
- 9:43Speaker 2: when this movie, like when they had their kiss, I
- 9:46Speaker 2: was like, but weren't we here for like, you know,
- 9:50Speaker 2: finding their father's like Irish roots, When is that gonna happen?
- 9:54Speaker 2: And then like boom, they're like at that house they
- 9:56Speaker 2: show up at that house or whatever. I mean, it
- 9:59Speaker 2: was a real cute when like the bar lady like
- 10:01Speaker 2: comes around the corner.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Yes, I could have used more of that, though they
- 10:05Speaker 1: could have brought that out earlier in the movie. For me,
- 10:10Speaker 1: I could have used less sister, more extended family.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Oh agree, And I could have used less stupid event
- 10:20Speaker 2: planning and more looking for.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Yes, like why did they do that?
- 10:25Speaker 2: Like it's like they started out one way, then some
- 10:28Speaker 2: another writer took it over. We're like, oh, let's circle
- 10:32Speaker 2: back around to this original storyline that we're actually here
- 10:36Speaker 2: for the last.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Thing I liked because I have some things to say
- 10:39Speaker 1: about what I wished for. I loved the Irish dancing
- 10:42Speaker 1: at the gala. Oh my god, I'm sorry.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I hated it. I hated it. I hated it. Did
- 10:47Speaker 2: you see Irish dancing when you went there? So I
- 10:49Speaker 2: was watching this with my husband and I was like,
- 10:52Speaker 2: does this really happen in like an Irish bar? Do
- 10:55Speaker 2: Irish people want to see like Irish dancing? Like, don't
- 10:59Speaker 2: they want some? Announce And he said, Wendy, what do
- 11:02Speaker 2: people do when they go to like a country bar?
- 11:04Speaker 2: You know in Nashville it's all country bars. Don't do
- 11:07Speaker 2: you think they want that? I was like, okay, fairpoint.
- 11:10Speaker 1: We went. When we were there, we went on a
- 11:13Speaker 1: boat trip to this tiny little island that had a
- 11:17Speaker 1: restored castle. And by castle, it's like very small, but
- 11:21Speaker 1: this husband and wife had restored it there had lived
- 11:25Speaker 1: there with their children. Tiny home, but a castle, and
- 11:29Speaker 1: we toured it and it was very cool, and at
- 11:33Speaker 1: some point there was Irish dancing. It was just us.
- 11:35Speaker 1: It was just my family, our group there and they
- 11:38Speaker 1: must have boated in, these Irish dancers and they taught us.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Although I did not participate because you know, I'm a hater,
- 11:44Speaker 1: it was very cool, but I enjoy Irish dancing. I
- 11:47Speaker 1: thought that was true to the moment. I thought their
- 11:53Speaker 1: addition of that to the gala was appropriate.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Well, okay, I'm going to say that I'm not a
- 11:58Speaker 2: full hater, but I think that if I were to
- 12:02Speaker 2: see it in person, yes it would be cool.
- 12:05Speaker 1: But just gave you Riverdance watch.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Well what did you wish for?
- 12:13Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna sound like a real jerk here, but
- 12:17Speaker 2: I wish that they had better casting for the sister Margo.
- 12:22Speaker 2: First of all, she didn't look anything like Lacy, Like,
- 12:24Speaker 2: they didn't look like they could be sisters at all.
- 12:29Speaker 2: The second thing is like she emoted a lot with
- 12:31Speaker 2: her face and I just found it distracting throughout the
- 12:36Speaker 2: entire movie.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I wish that they hadn't leaned on Ireland to make
- 12:40Speaker 1: this movie magical. This has happened in the past where
- 12:44Speaker 1: we get like this location is the plot of the movie,
- 12:48Speaker 1: and I think they leaned too hard on beautiful location
- 12:55Speaker 1: and not hard enough on developing the plot. Now did
- 12:58Speaker 1: you know that Paul Campbell was hired to rewrite this movie? I?
- 13:02Speaker 2: Uh no, I didn't.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Oh no, Now, he did not write this movie. They
- 13:07Speaker 1: gave it to him to do some reworking with. He
- 13:10Speaker 1: was not there for the filming, I believe so he
- 13:15Speaker 1: I know that hurts me right because we enjoy him
- 13:19Speaker 1: so much. The biggest problem is for me as when
- 13:23Speaker 1: he said this movie is built on a castle of
- 13:26Speaker 1: lies and it doesn't stand up. First of all, there's
- 13:32Speaker 1: no such thing as a famous event planner unless you're nighties.
- 13:38Speaker 1: And if you are a famous event planner, to the
- 13:42Speaker 1: point that these castle owners, lords and ladies in Ireland
- 13:46Speaker 1: know who you are, would they also not know what
- 13:50Speaker 1: you look like?
- 13:51Speaker 2: Well, that's what I said, because she at one point goes,
- 13:54Speaker 2: do you have a website? The sister obviously tells her
- 13:57Speaker 2: it's I don't remember the name. Wouldn't that person's photo
- 14:01Speaker 2: be on the website?
- 14:03Speaker 1: This is named after her?
- 14:04Speaker 2: Yes? Yeah, I was like, what this is not? This
- 14:09Speaker 2: is what I think if mister Paul Campbell got this movie,
- 14:12Speaker 2: he got this script and it was real bad. And
- 14:14Speaker 2: you know, you can't put lipstick on a pig and
- 14:16Speaker 2: call it good. So I think he just maybe did
- 14:18Speaker 2: what he could do with it. But it was just
- 14:21Speaker 2: a stinker. They did our Lacey dirty with this movie.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I think so too. Now we later this month have
- 14:30Speaker 1: a review coming out of A Christmas Waltz, which is
- 14:32Speaker 1: from twenty twenty, and that movie made me a real
- 14:35Speaker 1: lazy Shibar fan and it made me look forward to
- 14:38Speaker 1: her movies this year, and unfortunately this movie did not
- 14:43Speaker 1: even come close to living up to Christmas Waltz.
- 14:45Speaker 2: From I agree one hundred percent.
- 14:49Speaker 1: The event planning would have fallen apart much earlier. I
- 14:53Speaker 1: feel like they could have gone with there's a different
- 14:58Speaker 1: They didn't need to pretend to be famous wedding planner,
- 15:01Speaker 1: excuse me, famous event planner in order for them to
- 15:04Speaker 1: be drama what they are planning the event there are
- 15:09Speaker 1: from another country. They could have simply said we're event planners,
- 15:12Speaker 1: and then they could have done it, and then they
- 15:13Speaker 1: could have not necessarily been great at it. It's also
- 15:17Speaker 1: probably the thing with being an event planner is you
- 15:19Speaker 1: have your vendors that you like, You have your people
- 15:22Speaker 1: that you go to. If you're in another country, you
- 15:23Speaker 1: don't know who to call. There could have been plenty
- 15:26Speaker 1: of that funny interviewing chefs or auditioning musicians, or we
- 15:33Speaker 1: had a funny scene in another movie where they had
- 15:35Speaker 1: these bizarre wedding cakes. Right, There's a lot of ways
- 15:38Speaker 1: they could have taken this without leaning so hard on
- 15:41Speaker 1: the you're pretending to be someone. Of course that's not
- 15:45Speaker 1: gonna go well. And then they could have also had
- 15:48Speaker 1: the manufactured drama between Brooke and Aiden when she's like, actually,
- 15:52Speaker 1: I'm not a wedding planner, I'm just waitress. But look
- 15:55Speaker 1: what we did for you. We wanted to help you
- 15:56Speaker 1: out right, and they were in such a pickle would
- 16:00Speaker 1: have taken the help.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Oh, of course if they could just be like, hey, yeah,
- 16:04Speaker 2: we could do this for you, like no problem, Like.
- 16:07Speaker 1: This is stupid, so stupid in exchange for room and
- 16:10Speaker 1: bored like you don't even totally totally, there's a couple
- 16:16Speaker 1: more things I wished for here that I needed.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Better chemistry between Aiden. Yeah and Brooke, they're perfectly fine
- 16:25Speaker 2: actors in their own respect, but like nothing comes close
- 16:30Speaker 2: to the chemistry between she and uh Will Kemp in
- 16:34Speaker 2: a Christmas waltz, Like that was just like epid me
- 16:37Speaker 2: like up here like yes, yes, yes, and these two
- 16:40Speaker 2: just look like I agree. Oh and I was watching
- 16:44Speaker 2: this time. I was like, wouldn't it be a funny
- 16:46Speaker 2: twist if they were related? And my husband's like, no,
- 16:48Speaker 2: that's not gonna happen, you know, because she was like
- 16:51Speaker 2: looking that could have been her brother or cousin or something.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Totally totally what else did you wish for?
- 16:58Speaker 2: I didn't like the show, and I think they meet
- 17:01Speaker 2: it at least twice in here. But they were like
- 17:05Speaker 2: being like self effacing by like saying like, oh, it's
- 17:08Speaker 2: a good job by a couple of waitresses, And I
- 17:11Speaker 2: was like, I just thought it was like minimizes the
- 17:14Speaker 2: hard job of being a food server. Yes, you know
- 17:17Speaker 2: what I mean, Like stop saying that, Like, do somebody
- 17:19Speaker 2: man ate? That had to have right?
- 17:21Speaker 1: Tell me you didn't write that.
- 17:22Speaker 2: God, I hope not, because I just went like they
- 17:24Speaker 2: said it twice. I think I'm pretty sure they said
- 17:26Speaker 2: it twice, like being a waitress is a hard job. Yeah,
- 17:30Speaker 2: And I just wrote here we totally didn't need two
- 17:34Speaker 2: stories here, Like it could have just been the sisters
- 17:36Speaker 2: looking for their father's family. Yeah, like from top to bottom,
- 17:40Speaker 2: it could have been that.
- 17:42Speaker 1: And it could have just been like, hey, we're gonna
- 17:43Speaker 1: help you plan this event while we were looking for
- 17:46Speaker 1: our Yeah, the drama could have been while we're looking
- 17:49Speaker 1: for our family. But sure, like if you help us out,
- 17:51Speaker 1: we'll help you out. Many hands make light work is
- 17:54Speaker 1: at an Irish proverb.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I don't know, but I will buy some postport and
- 17:58Speaker 2: make it for you.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Did you see that? I need to talk about the
- 18:01Speaker 1: horseback riding. Okay, it's a real intense green screen situation
- 18:06Speaker 1: and they're like hustling over these cliffs. So Brooke mentions
- 18:14Speaker 1: that she used to ride, and Aiden says we should
- 18:16Speaker 1: go riding, so they get on these horses. Now. I
- 18:20Speaker 1: love horseback riding, and for several summers I went to
- 18:23Speaker 1: horseback riding camp where I learned Western riding than when
- 18:28Speaker 1: I was in Ireland. My daughter very much wanted to
- 18:31Speaker 1: go horseback riding, so my mom arranged for us to
- 18:33Speaker 1: go riding. Now, of course in Ireland they ride English,
- 18:36Speaker 1: which is a very different style of riding.
- 18:38Speaker 2: It is you ride backwards.
- 18:40Speaker 1: When how's it different. It's much more physical, Okay, there's
- 18:45Speaker 1: no nothing to hold on to, Like in Western you
- 18:49Speaker 1: have rains, but in Western riding your sidle has a horn,
- 18:52Speaker 1: your title has no horn, okay, and so you hold
- 18:54Speaker 1: your reins in the air and it's a very physical
- 18:57Speaker 1: with your thighs. You have to like lift yourself up
- 19:00Speaker 1: with the rhythm of the horse. It's a lot of work.
- 19:02Speaker 1: And so I was very curious because we've seen horseback
- 19:04Speaker 1: riding in movies before, but they're always kind of like
- 19:06Speaker 1: meandering along and you can kind of when you're Western riding. Yes,
- 19:11Speaker 1: of course you can ride fast, but there's also like
- 19:14Speaker 1: you don't need to be a good horseback rider to
- 19:16Speaker 1: ride Western. You can sit on a horse and let
- 19:19Speaker 1: it take you and you just kind of like do
- 19:21Speaker 1: do do you know the swaying motion of writing. You
- 19:25Speaker 1: can't do that riding. It takes there's a steep learning curve. Okay,
- 19:30Speaker 1: So when they said they were going to go horseck riding,
- 19:32Speaker 1: I thought, oh, and then all we see is this
- 19:35Speaker 1: far away shot. We cannot see their faces. It is
- 19:37Speaker 1: most definitely not them. Of these horses galloping across the
- 19:42Speaker 1: Irish plane and it is definitely not them. And my
- 19:46Speaker 1: husband's like, look at those horses go like they are
- 19:49Speaker 1: be lying and.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Are they holding on? It's English riding.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Do you see what they're doing? Okay, you cannot see
- 19:59Speaker 1: what they're doing. So anyway, it was like a real
- 20:02Speaker 1: b roll situation.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Oh see, that's like I think when you know the
- 20:07Speaker 2: insides and outs of these things, that you get real
- 20:10Speaker 2: critical watching these movies. Right, Yeah, was there any wardrobe
- 20:16Speaker 2: budget in this movie?
- 20:18Speaker 1: Oh? You didn't like her clothes?
- 20:19Speaker 2: There's one outfit she's wearing a yellow plaid skirt with
- 20:26Speaker 2: no girl.
- 20:27Speaker 1: I thought she was kidding.
- 20:28Speaker 2: No, she's got like a peterband collar that is matching
- 20:32Speaker 2: her skirt, and I was like, it was so dreadful.
- 20:37Speaker 2: And I had like a monogram on the collar too.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I think I said m which doesn't make any sense
- 20:44Speaker 2: because then her name was Brook Bennett, but maybe her
- 20:51Speaker 2: maiden name.
- 20:51Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Okay, whatever, it was tragic, tragic her plaid coat.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Did you like a plaid coat? I don't remember a
- 20:58Speaker 1: plaid coat.
- 20:59Speaker 2: I do remember a pretty red dress that she wore
- 21:01Speaker 2: at the end I thought was lovely.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Okay. She goes to her room. There's dresses draped all
- 21:07Speaker 1: over the furniture. Is this how we display ball gowns?
- 21:09Speaker 1: We just drip over some dude does.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I took them off and you're like, no, bring in
- 21:15Speaker 1: a clothing rack. They one after the other. It was
- 21:19Speaker 1: almost like you couldn't tell what they were when she
- 21:21Speaker 1: walked in. They just looked like big lumps of fabric.
- 21:23Speaker 1: There was no wow moment, And I wonder if that's
- 21:27Speaker 1: because they didn't have anything good to show. So they thought,
- 21:30Speaker 1: as long as we have these big, full skirts, nobody
- 21:32Speaker 1: will notice that these dresses suck. I don't think the
- 21:35Speaker 1: red dress sucked. I thought the red dress. I love
- 21:37Speaker 1: the red dress. However, there's a scene right before she
- 21:40Speaker 1: walks into the ball of feet stepping out of the yes, yes,
- 21:44Speaker 1: and it's like blue sparkle shoes. I didn't notice that
- 21:47Speaker 1: because she says just prior to that, something about Cinderella
- 21:50Speaker 1: feeling like Cinderella quits the ball, and then there's these
- 21:53Speaker 1: like blue sparklely shoes and she steps out, and she
- 21:56Speaker 1: walks into the ball and she's wearing a red dress.
- 21:58Speaker 1: I never see her feet again, and she wearing these
- 22:01Speaker 1: blue littery shoes with a red dress.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I don't know. It was very Americana, if she is.
- 22:06Speaker 1: I really loved They're like a light blue. I suppose
- 22:09Speaker 1: it could have just been the color situation on my TV.
- 22:11Speaker 1: And it's possible that they were silver. They did have
- 22:14Speaker 1: They did give me Cinderella vibes with the shoes, but
- 22:18Speaker 1: I don't know that I would have loved them with
- 22:20Speaker 1: the dress.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Okay, So two comments. One, my husband happened to catch
- 22:24Speaker 2: this scene and he's like, she was holding the blue dress.
- 22:27Speaker 2: I expected her to come out in the blue dress right.
- 22:30Speaker 2: The second comment is when she stepped her foot out
- 22:33Speaker 2: of the car, she had like a pikato what's it called,
- 22:36Speaker 2: pikabo toe, peep.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Toe whatever you can.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Yeah, this is from the girl who wears tennis shoes
- 22:42Speaker 2: twenty four hours a day. She was also wearing like
- 22:45Speaker 2: a pantyhose, uh huh with it, And like, I thought
- 22:49Speaker 2: that what, it's cold? I know, but I thought like
- 22:53Speaker 2: it was. I thought you weren't supposed to wear pantyhose
- 22:56Speaker 2: with like an open toe. Yes, sure, I was gonna
- 22:59Speaker 2: call some total issues.
- 23:02Speaker 1: God, welcome to fashion talk with.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I just thought it was a weird choice. So they
- 23:09Speaker 2: go to that town Christmas tree lighting.
- 23:11Speaker 1: There's nobody there. Also, that Christmas tree is like eight
- 23:14Speaker 1: feet tall. Yeah, it's like the size of the tree
- 23:16Speaker 1: in my living room. It is a small town. They
- 23:21Speaker 1: were surprised still, like I live in a small town.
- 23:24Speaker 2: We have a big Christmas tree lighting event. Actually I've
- 23:29Speaker 2: never been to the event, but they have. I noticed
- 23:32Speaker 2: yesterday they had like there's traffic science up that's saying
- 23:35Speaker 2: like tree lighting event, tree lighting traffic. I'm like, okay,
- 23:40Speaker 2: we're not going Mmmm.
- 23:44Speaker 1: There's a scene where they're pulling backs in the castle
- 23:47Speaker 1: up into an aerial view, and there are trees surround
- 23:51Speaker 1: Christmas trees. There's a line of them, and there are
- 23:53Speaker 1: wreaths on the castle, and they look very much photoshopped on.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Oh like they did not have ten Christmas trees lining
- 24:00Speaker 1: the castle. They just didn't. And the reeds almost look
- 24:04Speaker 1: like the corner of the castle is round the big
- 24:08Speaker 1: turret and almost looks like they wrap out into that
- 24:11Speaker 1: image it. But there's another scene where you can see
- 24:15Speaker 1: the reads in the background. Those may have been real,
- 24:16Speaker 1: but I'm telling you that pullback scene, those trees were
- 24:20Speaker 1: edited in some way.
- 24:24Speaker 2: When Aiden and Brooke were decorating the Christmas tree in
- 24:30Speaker 2: her room, I think it's her room, uh huh uh
- 24:34Speaker 2: was it a Balsam Hill tree.
- 24:36Speaker 1: I thought that the decorations looked very Balsom Hill because
- 24:40Speaker 1: it was like multiples of the same ornaments. Okay, but
- 24:45Speaker 1: probably I was looking because you know, there was nothing.
- 24:50Speaker 1: The ornaments were pretty, but there was nothing particularly special
- 24:52Speaker 1: about them. There was nothing unique. It wasn't like he
- 24:54Speaker 1: was bringing out his family early ornaments, right. It was like,
- 24:57Speaker 1: here's another gold ball. But I didn't see the advert.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Neither did I. But what I did see was like
- 25:02Speaker 2: a stack of wooden boxes that were just so perfectly
- 25:05Speaker 2: there that she could like step up to put the
- 25:08Speaker 2: you know, star on top of the tree. And then
- 25:10Speaker 2: they have that whole moment of like her ex and
- 25:13Speaker 2: the star.
- 25:14Speaker 1: And Yeah, that was a weird storyline that they kind
- 25:18Speaker 1: of threw at us, that she was recently divorced. I
- 25:20Speaker 1: feel like maybe we didn't need that.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Did we need a lot of storylines in this movie?
- 25:26Speaker 1: Now?
- 25:27Speaker 2: The vintage cars? Why are there vintage cars in Ireland
- 25:32Speaker 2: driving around like that? Like the taxi cabs, like these
- 25:35Speaker 2: old cars in old Country? Did you drive in an
- 25:38Speaker 2: old vintage car when you were there?
- 25:40Speaker 1: We drove in a suburban, Okay, but that doesn't mean
- 25:42Speaker 1: they don't have old cars. And then in you know,
- 25:45Speaker 1: real bad green screen, you know the driving scenes with
- 25:49Speaker 1: him driving but his hand's on a steering wall like this,
- 25:54Speaker 1: and you guys, you need to see Wendy, but she's
- 25:57Speaker 1: he's doing the fake driving thing with your hands back
- 25:59Speaker 1: and forth that everybody.
- 26:02Speaker 2: That nobody drives like that.
- 26:04Speaker 1: It's just so stupid.
- 26:06Speaker 2: What did I rate this movie?
- 26:08Speaker 1: Two stars?
- 26:09Speaker 2: Wow? Oh? Worse?
- 26:12Speaker 1: No, I give it two point seven five? Oh what
- 26:15Speaker 1: I guess I was feeling generous. I don't know.
- 26:16Speaker 2: It was terrible.
- 26:18Speaker 1: It's got lazy, it's got Ireland. Mostly I hated it.
- 26:21Speaker 1: But I think that's a guilt ranking because there's so
- 26:25Speaker 1: much about this that I wanted.
- 26:26Speaker 2: To light mm hmm.
- 26:28Speaker 1: It fell sure, and I think particularly because I watched
- 26:31Speaker 1: this immediately after or the day after watching and Unexpected
- 26:35Speaker 1: Christmas with Tyler Hines and Beth and new Joy Lenz.
- 26:37Speaker 1: That review is already live in our feet if you
- 26:39Speaker 1: have missed it. It did not hold up.
- 26:42Speaker 2: No, it was real bad. If you want a better movie,
- 26:45Speaker 2: go find a Christmas Waltz.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Yeah, Lacey's great in that, or Mean Girls also a
- 26:54Speaker 1: Christmas movie?
- 26:55Speaker 2: Well there can be there is a Christmas in that movie.
