Transcript
- 0:14Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, welcome to Pink Shade. You guys, It's Thursday,
- 0:18Speaker 1: and in this spot I like to talk about pop culture,
- 0:21Speaker 1: and today I've got, in my opinion, the best host
- 0:25Speaker 1: of all time, of all dating reality shows. It's my
- 0:29Speaker 1: buddy Mark L. Wahlberg from Temptation Island.
- 0:32Speaker 2: I see that you read major Dutch and just as
- 0:34Speaker 2: I wrote it, so thank you very much. You're so sweet.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It's great to see you again.
- 0:39Speaker 1: You know, I love you so much, and I think
- 0:43Speaker 1: you are wise beyond your years. You're not that much
- 0:46Speaker 1: older than me, but.
- 0:47Speaker 2: You know I'm wise. That equals my ears. I got
- 0:50Speaker 2: so well.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I got to tell you that I will tell you
- 0:55Speaker 1: something very funny as we start. I know that this
- 0:58Speaker 1: year when Love is Blind came on, which I also cover,
- 1:02Speaker 1: and you know, it's a totally different show, right, and
- 1:06Speaker 1: like you know, Nicko Vesa aren't like super involved or
- 1:08Speaker 1: giving advice or anything like that. It's different. But the
- 1:12Speaker 1: amount of people that called for you to jump in,
- 1:16Speaker 1: they were like, please, can Mark ol Wahlberg jump in
- 1:19Speaker 1: and help some of these some of.
- 1:20Speaker 3: These Because my wife and I, Robby and I watched
- 1:24Speaker 3: Love is Blind.
- 1:24Speaker 2: We love it. Yeah, and we get pretty snarky on
- 1:28Speaker 2: the couch or whatever like everybody.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Course, of course, of course my heart.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Was like I posted something jokingly saying, Netflix, any one
- 1:36Speaker 2: hour with these boys at a bonfire. We need to talk, yes, yes,
- 1:41Speaker 2: so yeah.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Yeah that Chris Man, I don't know. I don't know
- 1:45Speaker 1: if he could take your your hard truths, your hard
- 1:47Speaker 1: truth But I want to talk about this season to
- 1:51Speaker 1: Temptation first and then I've got some questions for you. Okay,
- 1:55Speaker 1: So all right, So this season on Temptation Iland, we
- 1:58Speaker 1: covered it. We dropped all nine of our episod those
- 2:00Speaker 1: at once. We'd like to do it like that, so
- 2:02Speaker 1: if somebody does binge it, then they can come and
- 2:04Speaker 1: listen to our recaps. I did it with Keisha. Now,
- 2:08Speaker 1: Keisha is my co host for Temptation Island, and she
- 2:14Speaker 1: had never watched it. I usually do it with Amy Archer,
- 2:18Speaker 1: who also covers it on her show, and so Amy
- 2:21Speaker 1: and I know everything. Keisha and I love covering things
- 2:23Speaker 1: with somebody who's never seen it, so I can tell
- 2:25Speaker 1: her this, and I can also tell her as we go,
- 2:28Speaker 1: like ooh, like you don't know this is coming, you know.
- 2:31Speaker 1: So we had four couples this season. We had Summitt
- 2:34Speaker 1: and Kaylee. Yes, we had Colon Scarlett, Yes, Jack and Cheyenne,
- 2:41Speaker 1: Mikey and Sydney. Now Some and Kaylee to me were
- 2:45Speaker 1: the ones that there's always one couple that they have
- 2:47Speaker 1: made a pact. We're not going to do anything to
- 2:52Speaker 1: harm our relationship, but we're going to come together at
- 2:54Speaker 1: the end. Okay, So they were They were that couple,
- 2:57Speaker 1: which was shocking. Then we had col Scarlet. I recently
- 3:01Speaker 1: found out Scarlett was on below deck.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Yeah I found that out too. Yeah I did wild
- 3:06Speaker 2: she was on long but she was on a little bit.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So yeah, she was a deckhand or something. Now, when
- 3:12Speaker 1: Jack and Cheyenne came on, did you sing Jack and
- 3:14Speaker 1: Diane in your mind?
- 3:15Speaker 3: Well, you can't not sing it in your head when
- 3:18Speaker 3: you see them.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Not one person ever mentioned it. I was like, is
- 3:22Speaker 1: that because we're old?
- 3:23Speaker 2: Because that's our generation that played at our prom, not theirs.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Mikey and Sydney. Now, I got to say, we gave
- 3:32Speaker 1: Mikey a very hard time, a very hard time, but
- 3:38Speaker 1: towards the end we felt bad about giving her such
- 3:42Speaker 1: a hard time.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Look, we all are on a journey to learn who
- 3:45Speaker 2: we are and especially when you're young, like Mikey, we
- 3:48Speaker 2: may not have even begun to find out an authentic
- 3:51Speaker 2: person who we are.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:52Speaker 2: So there were a lot of crocodile tears, but a
- 3:54Speaker 2: lot of real emotion and whether it makes sense to
- 3:57Speaker 2: the viewer watching it or not, or you get you
- 4:00Speaker 2: can judge grow up man or whatever, they were real
- 4:03Speaker 2: for him at whatever level, they were real. And I
- 4:07Speaker 2: he's a sweet dude. Yeah, like that guy, he's you know,
- 4:11Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe I had a kind of kindred
- 4:13Speaker 2: spirit that he's a he's a live event host. I
- 4:16Speaker 2: kind of know that vibe. Yeah, I mean it breaks
- 4:20Speaker 2: my My wife and I. We don't see the show
- 4:22Speaker 2: until it drops, right, Yeah. So Robbie and I are
- 4:25Speaker 2: on the couch watching it and there's this one interview
- 4:27Speaker 2: with early on and Mike. He's talking, he's like good
- 4:29Speaker 2: and then you just see him well up and start
- 4:31Speaker 2: to cry.
- 4:31Speaker 1: And every time, every time, like this guy can't do
- 4:36Speaker 1: a stand up interview. He'll go like yeah something that
- 4:38Speaker 1: he's like, excuse me, I don't like oh no. So
- 4:42Speaker 1: we gave him a lot of shit, but then we
- 4:45Speaker 1: were like at the end, We're like, I think he
- 4:47Speaker 1: had a lot of growth at the end. I think
- 4:50Speaker 1: I think he.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I think he did everything he could to grow and
- 4:53Speaker 2: he's continuing to do so. He's posted a lot about
- 4:55Speaker 2: being in therapy. I talked to him briefly, you know,
- 4:58Speaker 2: on DM and thinking about coming to LA. I told
- 5:01Speaker 2: him he could stay in my house if he needs
- 5:02Speaker 2: a place to day.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Cute.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't ask my wife about that, but okay, yeah,
- 5:07Speaker 2: I think maybe I'm blurring the lines of host and
- 5:10Speaker 2: codependent and dad.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Oh my gosh. Well listen first reaction.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So you see these couples, right, and you see them
- 5:20Speaker 1: sitting there, they coming down the helicopters and all that stuff,
- 5:23Speaker 1: which is just so cool.
- 5:24Speaker 2: It was crazy. That was a crazy day.
- 5:26Speaker 1: When you see Jack and Cheyenne and you see Jack's hair,
- 5:31Speaker 1: I mean, mark Nasa. I have a twenty year old son,
- 5:36Speaker 1: so I know that the hairstyles are fuzzy in the
- 5:39Speaker 1: front like they do the thing like every generation's got
- 5:42Speaker 1: there weird, that's right.
- 5:43Speaker 2: All I looked at I was jealous. I'm like, that's
- 5:45Speaker 2: a head of hair. That's a whole lot of hair.
- 5:48Speaker 3: You could do anything you want with that for years
- 5:50Speaker 3: to come.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Could you get like a ruler and stick it all
- 5:53Speaker 1: the way down. Like where did his head even start?
- 5:56Speaker 1: I couldn't figure.
- 5:57Speaker 2: It's a lot.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Believe it.
- 6:01Speaker 2: But you know, again, content aside, I had an affection
- 6:06Speaker 2: for Jack. He's a young guy, and there was this
- 6:09Speaker 2: kind of a sweetness about him.
- 6:11Speaker 3: I mean, we're all.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Train wrecks in some form, you know.
- 6:15Speaker 3: So there's that, But you know, I don't know.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Maybe I'm I've gotten maudeling as I've gotten older on
- 6:21Speaker 2: this show, but I kind of give everybody the benefit
- 6:23Speaker 2: of the doubt. And every time I saw him, I
- 6:26Speaker 2: was happy to see him, even with this giganticetta herapist.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Day, you're like a baseball hat won't even fit on top.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Of that, it's like a property you like on like
- 6:35Speaker 3: a like an approach.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Yes, like he's going to Kentucky Derby.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Oh my god, so funny. Now, there always seems to
- 6:46Speaker 1: be that one couple and I was trying to remember
- 6:48Speaker 1: and you may remember it and maybe you don't, but
- 6:50Speaker 1: there was this couple several seasons ago before it was
- 6:53Speaker 1: on Netflix, and it was this gorgeous like former football
- 6:56Speaker 1: player and then like this gorgeous model Julian and christ Okay,
- 7:01Speaker 1: Julian was the guy he and then they got engaged
- 7:05Speaker 1: at the end.
- 7:06Speaker 3: And they're married and having a baby.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Oh my god, just found out Mark. We still to
- 7:12Speaker 1: this day make so much fun of it because if
- 7:14Speaker 1: he was like in the pool and a girl came
- 7:16Speaker 1: and sat by the pool, he would fling himself backwards
- 7:21Speaker 1: onto and like beach whale himself on the other side
- 7:24Speaker 1: of the pool. He was so like, not only am
- 7:26Speaker 1: I not going to do anything to get me in trouble,
- 7:29Speaker 1: I'm not even going to be seen with an arms
- 7:31Speaker 1: distance of a woman. It was hilarious how far he
- 7:34Speaker 1: would jump back from females. Yeah, and so none of
- 7:38Speaker 1: these guys were really doing that, but someone in Kaylee
- 7:43Speaker 1: shockingly did seem to be the ones that had sort
- 7:47Speaker 1: of made that pact like no matter what, we're not
- 7:50Speaker 1: gonna I think Colon Scarlett made that packed. But Scarlett
- 7:53Speaker 1: got kind of woo woo with the mustache guy.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I mean, but Scarlett, she didn't do anything
- 8:02Speaker 2: intimate other than conversation. This is the thing I talk
- 8:05Speaker 2: about on the show at the very beginning. We always
- 8:07Speaker 2: ask a question, what are your rules coming in? And
- 8:09Speaker 2: then I kind of often give sort of a snide chuckle,
- 8:13Speaker 2: and I'm like, you know, you all come in with this.
- 8:15Speaker 2: But here's the thing about that is that it's one
- 8:20Speaker 2: thing to set boundaries. I had this conversation with Cole.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Some of it got cut out. I says, one thing
- 8:25Speaker 2: to set boundaries, and I get that. But if if
- 8:27Speaker 2: your whole purpose is to come here and show that
- 8:30Speaker 2: you won't cheat, it's that's not that big of a
- 8:33Speaker 2: thing to accomplish for three weeks.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Right, So I mean it should it should not be
- 8:38Speaker 1: a big thing to accomplish, right.
- 8:39Speaker 3: It just isn't unless you want to do something.
- 8:42Speaker 2: But to give an example of Julian from Seasons Past,
- 8:46Speaker 2: here's a guy who wasn't going to do anything physical
- 8:48Speaker 2: with anybody, but he did have intimate conversations with women
- 8:52Speaker 2: trying to figure out his issues and stuff.
- 8:54Speaker 1: He did end up making that friend that one girl
- 8:56Speaker 1: that likes Hell I'm talking about.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, So what I was saying to Cole at
- 9:01Speaker 2: one point is that when at the final bonfire, he
- 9:04Speaker 2: said everything he was supposed to say, and I was like, Cole,
- 9:07Speaker 2: you've learned so much. I'm really proud of you, and
- 9:09Speaker 2: and she was kind of like, I haven't you say
- 9:12Speaker 2: that now? But I didn't see anything right, And I
- 9:14Speaker 2: was saying to him, sometimes just respecting boundaries is limiting
- 9:20Speaker 2: your experience. That maybe what she needed to see was
- 9:23Speaker 2: you trying things, not physical things, but connection depth, saying
- 9:28Speaker 2: about and so running the gauntlet of I'm not going
- 9:32Speaker 2: to touch anybody, may not.
- 9:34Speaker 3: I mean I support that.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I think that's great, you know, being free here to
- 9:39Speaker 2: your partner, but you also need to open up because
- 9:43Speaker 2: just sitting in the corner and going I'm not playing.
- 9:44Speaker 1: The game, right, that's what he did.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no growth out of that because it's not
- 9:49Speaker 2: he's like I'm not going to talk. He really did that.
- 9:52Speaker 2: I think actually he did do some work as much
- 9:54Speaker 2: as he knew how to do, and he shared as
- 9:56Speaker 2: much as he knew how to share.
- 9:57Speaker 3: And I actually thought Cole came along way and I
- 10:01Speaker 3: like that.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Guy, no common old coal. So I did think. Also
- 10:08Speaker 1: I liked that summit, like made friends with that girl Julianne.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Now that girl Julianne, I think she's reality gold. I
- 10:15Speaker 1: kept I was like wow, I kept staring at her
- 10:17Speaker 1: like we were like wow, everything about her is so.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Cute, so beautiful. Yeah.
- 10:21Speaker 3: So hopefully and a right, really smart young woman.
- 10:24Speaker 2: And but that's perfect example that Summit, you know, took
- 10:30Speaker 2: a little bit of a chance to make a friendship,
- 10:33Speaker 2: a deep friendship. It never really got to the place
- 10:35Speaker 2: where he had to really be concerned. But I think
- 10:39Speaker 2: that she served his purpose. Isn't learning more about himself?
- 10:43Speaker 1: You know?
- 10:44Speaker 3: He also was really game, you know when we would talk.
- 10:48Speaker 2: One of the things that I pointed out on several
- 10:50Speaker 2: podcasts and I keep saying it and not to you know,
- 10:53Speaker 2: fangirl all over Summit. But men usually defend their position.
- 11:00Speaker 2: I do it all the time, So when called out,
- 11:05Speaker 2: the natural tendency often is to defend their position, not
- 11:09Speaker 2: own the responsibility of their part in it. Yeah, And
- 11:14Speaker 2: at every turn when I would push on push back
- 11:18Speaker 2: on Summit, he would go, god, I never looked at
- 11:21Speaker 2: it that way.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, I am highly intelligent.
- 11:25Speaker 1: So I agree you're so right and that men will
- 11:28Speaker 1: sort of like defend their position. But on this show,
- 11:31Speaker 1: I think, especially see when you get to like the
- 11:33Speaker 1: second bonfire, the first one, usually they kind of are
- 11:37Speaker 1: puffing their chest up still, but on the second one,
- 11:40Speaker 1: I think they've let their guards down, and it just
- 11:42Speaker 1: seems like It always happens that the women get stronger
- 11:46Speaker 1: and stronger and get these friendships with the men, and
- 11:48Speaker 1: the men just seem to slowly crumble and are like,
- 11:52Speaker 1: wait a minute. You know, they all just seem to
- 11:54Speaker 1: be like, yes, the partying at night is super fun,
- 11:57Speaker 1: let's have a phone party, let's let's get crazy and drunk.
- 12:00Speaker 1: But in the daytime, when they sort of have to
- 12:01Speaker 1: sit with it, they're like, that wasn't that great? I
- 12:04Speaker 1: wish my girlfriend was here, You know it is. It
- 12:07Speaker 1: is always interesting to see the women. I can sort
- 12:11Speaker 1: of like expect their trajectory, but with the men, it
- 12:16Speaker 1: is always shocking to see how they actually grow. And
- 12:19Speaker 1: I think having somebody like you to talk to and
- 12:23Speaker 1: you're so non judgmental and so nice, or somebody else
- 12:26Speaker 1: like me might be like, man, get it together.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Well, you know there are ways to say get it together.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Yeah. You know, I have said often and will continue
- 12:37Speaker 2: to say that I just don't know that judgment in
- 12:39Speaker 2: any form, in any part of our lives serves anything
- 12:42Speaker 2: other than making the judge er feel bigger and the
- 12:45Speaker 2: judge feel less. Yes, doesn't really do anything right, and
- 12:51Speaker 2: so it's a constans choice I make that I'm going
- 12:53Speaker 2: to meet them where they are. I'm going to realize
- 12:56Speaker 2: that there are decades between my age and experience in
- 12:59Speaker 2: their agent ex experience, and rather than judge the choices
- 13:03Speaker 2: they make, I ask questions. And so what happens often
- 13:07Speaker 2: is that then they answer those questions. And when they
- 13:09Speaker 2: hear themselves say stuff and I say it back to them,
- 13:13Speaker 2: that's when I mean, that's how I learned stuff. When
- 13:16Speaker 2: I did different workshops and seminars, they had you stand
- 13:19Speaker 2: up and they make you say stuff, and you say
- 13:21Speaker 2: stuff and they go you just said and then breaking
- 13:23Speaker 2: on what you said, and You're like, I didn't even
- 13:25Speaker 2: realize because what comes out of our mouth is not
- 13:27Speaker 2: what's in our heart. That's that's the mask.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Yeah, And.
- 13:32Speaker 2: So I'm constantly telling people I don't listen to what
- 13:34Speaker 2: you're saying. I listened to why you chose those words
- 13:36Speaker 2: to say what you couldn't say.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Oh, Mark, I wonder if you and I ever went
- 13:42Speaker 1: out and had like drinks and dinner. By the end
- 13:43Speaker 1: of it, would I come out just like feeling like
- 13:45Speaker 1: a new person.
- 13:46Speaker 2: No, you probably come out going That guy is just
- 13:49Speaker 2: as messed up as every guy I've ever met. A
- 13:53Speaker 2: good time and I'm open to that, by the way,
- 13:56Speaker 2: if you ever want to do that. I know.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I was talking to Patrick Hickey this week and he's like,
- 14:03Speaker 1: what are you going out to La We gotta get
- 14:04Speaker 1: together and we'll get Mark and we'll hang out in
- 14:06Speaker 1: the backyard and all the things. I was like, okay, great.
- 14:09Speaker 1: So every season they do something a little bit different
- 14:13Speaker 1: on Temptation Island, like they brought in that like the
- 14:16Speaker 1: Temptation Tent be Haven, okay, which I was like, these
- 14:21Speaker 1: are these people so drunk that they didn't realize their
- 14:23Speaker 1: microphones are on? But you know whatever. But this year
- 14:28Speaker 1: they had the couples got to go to the other
- 14:31Speaker 1: place and Spy.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Didn't like it.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I didn't like it either.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Mark.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I thought it was such an invasion of privacy.
- 14:37Speaker 3: I didn't like it, Okay, I was that.
- 14:41Speaker 1: My thought was, what were your thoughts on that.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I haven't really talked about this and I probably shouldn't
- 14:48Speaker 2: say too much, but look, here's the thing that I
- 14:50Speaker 2: think people don't realize. I think what happens is people project.
- 14:52Speaker 3: On me that I'm running the show right right right.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I picked the clips, I have ranged the dates. Yeah,
- 15:00Speaker 2: all this stuff and just so that you guys are
- 15:03Speaker 2: all aware, I've said it before. You know this, I'm
- 15:05Speaker 2: the host. As a matter of fact, you would be
- 15:08Speaker 2: shocked to learn how little involvement I have.
- 15:11Speaker 1: When you show up in the Bonfire, you're seeing those
- 15:13Speaker 1: clips for the first time.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean sometimes I have an idea what's in them. Yeah,
- 15:18Speaker 3: I'm not going to front and.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Tell you I'm completely clueless, but I don't watch them
- 15:22Speaker 2: on purpose so that I can say, let's watch it together.
- 15:25Speaker 3: But when that idea came down, there were several different
- 15:30Speaker 3: forms of that idea. One was the guys are going
- 15:33Speaker 3: to go in and into the girls villa. The girls
- 15:36Speaker 3: would be gone, but the guys would be there.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Ugh, okay, And I looked at them and said, well,
- 15:41Speaker 2: that's fraught with danger.
- 15:43Speaker 1: But yes, I could kind of get behind.
- 15:45Speaker 2: There's something to be learned by that. So in other words,
- 15:48Speaker 2: if they if I could moderate it, yes, then one
- 15:52Speaker 2: might say you get insight about who you're being by
- 15:56Speaker 2: men who've had experience with your girls, friendship, sharing what
- 16:01Speaker 2: you know, that kind of conversation. There could be growth
- 16:03Speaker 2: out of that. I mean, that's a stres.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Citty and talking city and talking.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Yeah, if you keep them from beating the shit out
- 16:09Speaker 2: of each other, which yeah, by the way, I don't
- 16:10Speaker 2: think ever would have happened.
- 16:12Speaker 3: That said, the point is the whole show's extreme.
- 16:16Speaker 2: If we're gonna sit here and go through the filter
- 16:18Speaker 2: of is it true growth and things like that, I
- 16:20Speaker 2: think true growth actually happens. But this is not the place,
- 16:23Speaker 2: you know. I mean, it is designed to be a
- 16:25Speaker 2: TV show, But I have to go through the filter
- 16:29Speaker 2: of it is everything I'm doing? Can I literally stand
- 16:33Speaker 2: ten toes in? There's something to be learned from this.
- 16:37Speaker 2: So that concept of going and meeting the single man
- 16:40Speaker 2: I wasn't so down with because I didn't think it
- 16:42Speaker 2: was so necessary.
- 16:43Speaker 3: But I could find a way to sell it, right, Okay,
- 16:47Speaker 3: them going.
- 16:48Speaker 2: And rummaging through each other's rooms, I got that that
- 16:52Speaker 2: might be good TV. I couldn't figure out what the
- 16:54Speaker 2: lesson might be from that.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I didn't like it at all.
- 16:58Speaker 2: And watching it, I maybe I was wrong, you know,
- 17:03Speaker 2: maybe i'd take it too seriously. And look, I think
- 17:06Speaker 2: my executive producers and the producers do a great job
- 17:09Speaker 2: on our show. I think people would be surprised to
- 17:11Speaker 2: see how little contriving goes on compared to what you think.
- 17:17Speaker 2: And I think it's really difficult to make these things
- 17:21Speaker 2: fresh every season. So I applaud my producers for making
- 17:23Speaker 2: the show great. Yeah, and I get to say out
- 17:28Speaker 2: loud how I feel about certain things and be honest
- 17:30Speaker 2: about it. And the fact is I didn't particularly love that.
- 17:32Speaker 2: I don't think it was as detrimental as I had
- 17:36Speaker 2: feared it would be, but I didn't particularly think it
- 17:41Speaker 2: was something I was down for.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't like it. I mean, the only thing
- 17:46Speaker 1: that was like cute about it I thought was like
- 17:48Speaker 1: Someon and Kayley, who I really never thought were gonna
- 17:50Speaker 1: make it at all. I thought it was sort of telling.
- 17:53Speaker 1: And the fact that she went in his room and
- 17:55Speaker 1: was like, Okay, well this looks like all his stuff
- 17:58Speaker 1: is lined up, and then she was just like I
- 17:59Speaker 1: love you, you know, into the ether, and he went
- 18:02Speaker 1: into her room and kind of snuggled with her, you
- 18:04Speaker 1: know thing under bed, and so that was that was cute.
- 18:08Speaker 1: But the coal digging through but he had to dig
- 18:12Speaker 1: through a suitcase under some clothes to find it. If
- 18:16Speaker 1: it's just out, that's one thing, and he shouldn't have
- 18:18Speaker 1: read it even if it was out. But for him
- 18:20Speaker 1: to like unzip a suitcase and go through clothes to
- 18:22Speaker 1: find something. I was like, eh, And then he read
- 18:25Speaker 1: that journal and yeah, if I was her, i'd be like, well,
- 18:28Speaker 1: I'm never at her point was so valid of if
- 18:32Speaker 1: you will do this with a camera watching you, what
- 18:34Speaker 1: would you do when we're at home.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Which, by the way, was a point made to me
- 18:37Speaker 2: at one point when I was saying, hey, guys, this
- 18:39Speaker 2: is feels, and they were like, you know they lived
- 18:42Speaker 2: if they lived together, the journals out he could do
- 18:44Speaker 2: the same thing at home, So I said, I kind
- 18:46Speaker 2: of get that point. What I found interesting about that
- 18:49Speaker 2: beat is that and it really kind of sucks for coal,
- 18:56Speaker 2: but he was actually trying to show what he'd learned
- 19:01Speaker 2: by being fully transparent at the final bonfire.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And.
- 19:08Speaker 2: The lesson I didn't get to impart on that is
- 19:11Speaker 2: when we're fully transparent with things we have done seen,
- 19:15Speaker 2: we also don't have an In other words, when you
- 19:17Speaker 2: apologize for something you don't always get I forgive you.
- 19:21Speaker 2: So we don't apologize for them, we apologize for us.
- 19:24Speaker 2: We're not transparent for them, we're transparent for us. And
- 19:26Speaker 2: we can't really control what the response would be unfortunately.
- 19:29Speaker 2: The response was how could you possibly have done that,
- 19:32Speaker 2: which most adults know. There are things you do and
- 19:35Speaker 2: things you don't do. Diaries and journals are never a
- 19:38Speaker 2: thing for two reasons. One, it's invasion of privacy too.
- 19:40Speaker 1: You don't want to hear it right, yeahs written.
- 19:44Speaker 2: In a journal is true to your soul, but it's
- 19:47Speaker 2: not actually the truth. It's an emotional truth.
- 19:50Speaker 1: So he felt at that moment when you're writing it
- 19:52Speaker 1: down right.
- 19:53Speaker 2: And that's the point of a journal is to get
- 19:54Speaker 2: it out of your brain and on a paper where
- 19:57Speaker 2: you can read it and go, okay, settle down.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Sometimes no truth, but you know what I mean.
- 20:01Speaker 2: That's what journals are for and to invade that privacy.
- 20:06Speaker 2: And I don't really want to go into this more. Look,
- 20:08Speaker 2: he learned his lesson. I think everybody watching it one
- 20:11Speaker 2: of the lessons from a show standpoint. I feel like, yeah,
- 20:17Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Love it im to that end.
- 20:22Speaker 2: If I were the producer of the show, you wouldn't
- 20:24Speaker 2: want to watch it because I would pull all the punches.
- 20:29Speaker 2: All the confrontation makes me uncomfortable. I just love one
- 20:32Speaker 2: another to be happy, So you wouldn't want to watch
- 20:34Speaker 2: the show. I produced. That's what.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I've asked you this before and I can't remember the answer,
- 20:39Speaker 1: so I was going to ask you again, do they
- 20:41Speaker 1: have counselors or like mental health advisors on set if
- 20:46Speaker 1: somebody really is having a moment and they need to Oh.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Not, only do we have one. She was fantastic and
- 20:54Speaker 2: I talked to her a lot to make sure we're cool.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I'd like to have that conversation, and they they used
- 21:00Speaker 2: her a lot. You don't see this, but the guys
- 21:05Speaker 2: when they were grappling with stuff, especially after a bonfire,
- 21:07Speaker 2: several times would there was like a rock they would
- 21:10Speaker 2: go to to talk, and they would go out to
- 21:12Speaker 2: the rock and kind of sit and work things out
- 21:15Speaker 2: and get get what they needed.
- 21:17Speaker 3: So yeah, I think I think this goes.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Way back in reality TV in general. I maybe speaking
- 21:24Speaker 2: out of school, but I really think that most reality
- 21:26Speaker 2: TV shows either legally must or have chosen to have
- 21:31Speaker 2: sure onsite counseling, and quite honestly, everybody needs it, including
- 21:37Speaker 2: those of us who work on the show, because it's
- 21:40Speaker 2: highly dialed up and very emotional for even but not
- 21:43Speaker 2: as much for me. I get to detach. It's deep
- 21:46Speaker 2: for me, but I'm not in it Sleep Deprived twenty
- 21:50Speaker 2: four to seven, and those producers are putting their souls
- 21:52Speaker 2: into this thing, and so you know, yeah, they're there,
- 21:56Speaker 2: and we got really lucky. We have a new person
- 21:58Speaker 2: this year and she was amazing, amazing, So okay, yeah,
- 22:04Speaker 2: there's a respon.
- 22:05Speaker 1: That's good to know because you know, you see a bonfire.
- 22:08Speaker 1: And there were several instances where Mikey got very upset,
- 22:11Speaker 1: like we said, but there was one or two where
- 22:13Speaker 1: Cheyenne just like lost her mind as anybody would, having
- 22:17Speaker 1: to see what she was seeing, and she does the
- 22:19Speaker 1: like walk off, and Sydney had also done like a
- 22:21Speaker 1: walk off. And every so often you'll see you you'll
- 22:25Speaker 1: get up and like you went to Cheyenne like it's okay,
- 22:28Speaker 1: Like do you want to sit back down? And I'm wondering,
- 22:30Speaker 1: you know, because obviously it's edited together. I'm wondering like
- 22:33Speaker 1: this this situation was Chyanne getting up and saying, I
- 22:35Speaker 1: want to leave if that lasts like fifteen minutes, and
- 22:39Speaker 1: you got you know what I mean, or she was a.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Pretty organic thing. I assume she got up. Is this
- 22:49Speaker 2: real life? I can't I don't want to do this anymore.
- 22:51Speaker 2: And I'm leaving. I let her walk for a minute.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I didn't chase after her. Yeah, I didn't feel as right.
- 22:57Speaker 2: But then she kind of stopped halfway up the walk
- 22:59Speaker 2: and I went over and she says, I don't want
- 23:01Speaker 2: to do this. I want to go home. I don't know.
- 23:03Speaker 2: I can't remember what radon, what didn't. But my stance
- 23:06Speaker 2: on this is always the same. And I said to her,
- 23:10Speaker 2: you don't have to stay. My actual words that I
- 23:13Speaker 2: say usually is I will help you pack. Let's go
- 23:16Speaker 2: right down. This is not what this is about. Your
- 23:20Speaker 2: mental health is more important than this silly TV show.
- 23:25Speaker 2: But then I'll say, but the story is going to continue.
- 23:27Speaker 2: You want to have a voice, and so if that
- 23:31Speaker 2: matters to you, you know, I'd love to hear your
- 23:35Speaker 2: side of it. Plus I try to remind especially the women,
- 23:39Speaker 2: that whatever they're grappling with, whatever they're dealing with on
- 23:43Speaker 2: the show, which is extreme, there are millions of women
- 23:46Speaker 2: who are relating to them. Yeah, true, Often whatever growth
- 23:52Speaker 2: they have, I get comments from women saying I learned
- 23:56Speaker 2: so much from Cheyenne, I learned so much from Sydney,
- 23:58Speaker 2: you know. And that's I'm not going to sit here
- 24:02Speaker 2: and pretend that you know, we're doing God's work on
- 24:04Speaker 2: the show.
- 24:04Speaker 3: It's a crazy reality show, you.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Know how I feel about that. But the truth is
- 24:09Speaker 2: authenticity is authenticity and raw emotions, raw emotion, and those
- 24:13Speaker 2: things happen even in a crazy professional wrestling kind of
- 24:18Speaker 2: vibe of a TV show.
- 24:20Speaker 3: So yeah, I'm the one saying this looks like a
- 24:22Speaker 3: crazy show. It is a crazy show all of those things,
- 24:25Speaker 3: but it gets real.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I don't know why or how, but it does. So
- 24:29Speaker 2: just be prepared. And so with Sydney and with Cheyenne,
- 24:34Speaker 2: when they walked off, I went over and I said, look,
- 24:37Speaker 2: you know, how can I support you? You know you
- 24:39Speaker 2: want to go, We'll go. I will have somebody drive
- 24:42Speaker 2: you back to the villain pack right now. But if
- 24:45Speaker 2: you want to talk about it, if you feel comfortable
- 24:48Speaker 2: talking about it, how do you want to talk about it?
- 24:49Speaker 2: Can I? I say it kind of to Sydney, I'm like,
- 24:51Speaker 2: how can I support you?
- 24:52Speaker 1: Just?
- 24:52Speaker 2: Can you hold my hand? I'm like, you know, so sweet.
- 24:55Speaker 2: The only thing I wish I had done is when
- 24:57Speaker 2: Mikey was breaking down, I should have not been so gender.
- 25:00Speaker 2: I should have gone over and given him a hug,
- 25:02Speaker 2: you know, and sat with him like a woman. You know,
- 25:04Speaker 2: I'm a I'm a girl dad and that I get
- 25:06Speaker 2: accused of this all the time, and they're not wrong.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I am a little bit partial to the women's journey,
- 25:10Speaker 2: a little bit rougher on the men, and I got
- 25:12Speaker 2: to look at that next season because.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I don't think you're I don't think you're rough enough
- 25:16Speaker 1: on them. Well, you're a woman, and.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Generationally have been pretty fucking toxic. So you know, I
- 25:23Speaker 2: get it, and that's my stance. But in cases like
- 25:29Speaker 2: when Mikey's really going through a hard time, whether we
- 25:33Speaker 2: want him to man up or not, yeah, I think
- 25:37Speaker 2: it would have. I could have been a little bit
- 25:40Speaker 2: more gentle. I could have been a little bit more
- 25:43Speaker 2: supportive to him, as I would have and did with
- 25:46Speaker 2: the women. That's all I'm saying is, look, I'm constantly
- 25:48Speaker 2: watching this stuff and seeing how I can do it
- 25:50Speaker 2: better as well. And one of the things I said
- 25:53Speaker 2: on Nick Bio's podcast, and I'll repeat it, is that
- 25:58Speaker 2: I get a lot of people saying, you know, you
- 26:00Speaker 2: give this great advice and you know so much blah
- 26:02Speaker 2: blah blah, and I'm like, thank you. But what I
- 26:05Speaker 2: try to tell people is these are things I know,
- 26:09Speaker 2: these are things I'm grappling with. M So whatever I'm
- 26:14Speaker 2: talking about is the advice I need to take as well.
- 26:17Speaker 2: It's not that I haven't figured out, It's that i
- 26:19Speaker 2: know how difficult it is, and I'm constantly trying to
- 26:22Speaker 2: figure it out and be a better dude. Yeah, and
- 26:25Speaker 2: so that comes from It's not from I've got this
- 26:28Speaker 2: figured out. I'm the greatest husband that ever lived.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Ha.
- 26:33Speaker 2: I'm a train wreck often Robbie with a test to
- 26:36Speaker 2: but I'm willing to take my responsibility and figure it out,
- 26:41Speaker 2: you know. That's what That's the process for me, is
- 26:44Speaker 2: like I'm seeing myself in all of these situations at
- 26:46Speaker 2: different periods of my life and either sharing what I
- 26:50Speaker 2: learned in those periods or what I'm grappling with today.
- 26:53Speaker 1: It's just so it's so great. And so now I
- 26:58Speaker 1: there is a reunion that I'm probably not going to watch.
- 27:03Speaker 1: I want to watch a reunion hosted by you, and
- 27:05Speaker 1: you don't have to comment on that, but do you
- 27:08Speaker 1: know if Sydney and Xavier are still together?
- 27:12Speaker 3: So I'm gonna watch the reunion because I don't know anything.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Okay, Seriously, I keep in touch through DM a little bit,
- 27:20Speaker 2: but it's mostly friendly hahas.
- 27:23Speaker 3: And yeah, right for the.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Show dropped, I hit everybody with are you ready? Are
- 27:27Speaker 2: you good? You know it's gonna be a lot, and
- 27:29Speaker 2: I just kind of like to say, hey, just remember
- 27:31Speaker 2: it's a TV show. This ye heat and everybody's opinion
- 27:35Speaker 2: is gonna last for a few weeks and then it's
- 27:36Speaker 2: going to fade a little bit, so just yeah, keep
- 27:39Speaker 2: your feet. But yeah, I don't really know. I could
- 27:43Speaker 2: tell you what I'm not gonna tell you, but I
- 27:46Speaker 2: have my assumptions, but you no, I'm gonna have to
- 27:51Speaker 2: watch it and find out. Oh yeah, And I would
- 27:54Speaker 2: love to host to the reunion, if I'm gonna be
- 27:56Speaker 2: honest with you. Yeah, I wasn't asked to do it,
- 27:58Speaker 2: and it's a double edge. I would have loved to
- 28:00Speaker 2: host the reunion, but I don't like hosting reunions.
- 28:05Speaker 1: But you're very good at it because you know the people,
- 28:08Speaker 1: because you've gotten to know them and you know their stories,
- 28:11Speaker 1: and so you would know, hey, six months later, one
- 28:14Speaker 1: year later, let me see how this person has grown
- 28:17Speaker 1: from the person I faced.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean maybe.
- 28:20Speaker 2: But really what it is is I'm just listening without
- 28:23Speaker 2: judgment again, and when they tell me where they're at,
- 28:25Speaker 2: I get to ask questions like, but how does that
- 28:27Speaker 2: work with what you said? You know, things like that.
- 28:29Speaker 2: So yeah, I like the way I do reunions, but
- 28:31Speaker 2: the twenty people in a room is overwhelming for someone
- 28:36Speaker 2: who suffers from codependent EmPATH you know. And so it's
- 28:40Speaker 2: a lot. And whenever it starts blowing up, you know,
- 28:43Speaker 2: I have an earpiece, I'm the one going everybody calm down,
- 28:45Speaker 2: and they're staying in my ear neural let.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Them go, let them go, Yeah, let them go.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Yeah, my general way of being. So it's one of
- 28:51Speaker 2: those things where I don't love doing reunions, but I
- 28:54Speaker 2: want to do my reunion, of course. And as a fan,
- 28:58Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to seeing Nick because I want to
- 29:00Speaker 2: hear how it worked out. I think I will be surprised.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Okay, all right, well we'll go off of that topic
- 29:08Speaker 1: because I have thoughts. But okay, now, how would how
- 29:16Speaker 1: would you advise someone who says to you, hey, a
- 29:22Speaker 1: temptation island just opened up their you know, applications. And
- 29:26Speaker 1: my boyfriend and I have been together for a year,
- 29:28Speaker 1: we're twenty four years old. What do you think do
- 29:31Speaker 1: you think we should go on? Because one time he
- 29:32Speaker 1: shouted on me when we were eighteen, and I'm still
- 29:35Speaker 1: really hanging on to that. Do you think we should
- 29:36Speaker 1: go on the show? What would you have?
- 29:38Speaker 2: Anybody who mentions this to me because people constantly say, oh, well,
- 29:42Speaker 2: I'm gonna bring my girlfriend.
- 29:43Speaker 3: Yeah, Like, here's my suggestion.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Talk to each other around your kitchen table, uh huh,
- 29:52Speaker 2: hire a licensed therapist, uh huh. Or talk to your clergy.
- 29:57Speaker 2: All right, that's real life stuff. If you want to
- 29:59Speaker 2: go on DV you know, let me just tell you that.
- 30:05Speaker 2: If you think you're gonna come on and just kind
- 30:07Speaker 2: of manage the situation.
- 30:09Speaker 3: Yeah, some have.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Tried, some have been relatively successful. That may have happened
- 30:13Speaker 2: this season, But it gets real. It's gonna get real,
- 30:16Speaker 2: and I don't know if you're ready for that smoke.
- 30:19Speaker 2: So you know, it's one of these things where to
- 30:22Speaker 2: if we're up to me to get on the island,
- 30:24Speaker 2: you'd have to beg me to go, you know, not me.
- 30:26Speaker 2: But if I were picking it, you have to beg me.
- 30:29Speaker 2: I'd be the one saying, yeah, maybe this isn't the
- 30:31Speaker 2: greatest idea for anyone.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that said.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Not to be a hypocrite, but you know, I've been
- 30:39Speaker 2: known to be, you know, a little. On the other hand,
- 30:42Speaker 2: on the other hand, the show's messy and crazy. I
- 30:47Speaker 2: am always dumbfounded by both the couples and singles that
- 30:51Speaker 2: after the show's over, in the year that follows for
- 30:55Speaker 2: two years, the number of these people who then enter
- 30:59Speaker 2: into another relationship that ends up being there forever relationship.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Yeah, to me, Yeah, that does happen.
- 31:06Speaker 2: It does happen a lot.
- 31:08Speaker 1: It does happen a lot.
- 31:09Speaker 2: I think we are a part of that, but not
- 31:13Speaker 2: the reason for that. I think what happens is what
- 31:15Speaker 2: I've said all along, is that we think we know
- 31:17Speaker 2: what it is to be in love every time we're
- 31:19Speaker 2: in love, and every time that love breaks up or changes,
- 31:24Speaker 2: we fall in love again and go, oh, that wasn't love.
- 31:26Speaker 2: I now know that it's this, and it keeps elevating
- 31:28Speaker 2: until we get to the one that lasts forever. Yeah,
- 31:30Speaker 2: And I think I think that's everybody's process coming to
- 31:33Speaker 2: the island, right, is this sort of less than full
- 31:38Speaker 2: description of what a love healthy relationship is, and then
- 31:41Speaker 2: after the island that gets dialed up even bigger like that.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Some filters come off your eyes and you see things
- 31:46Speaker 2: a little clearer. And then the next time in you're
- 31:48Speaker 2: also a little older. You've had this experience under your belt.
- 31:51Speaker 2: You are not, as you know, superficial about relationship. And
- 31:55Speaker 2: maybe the show has been part of that conversation, and
- 31:58Speaker 2: maybe life has been part of that conversation. But I'm
- 32:00Speaker 2: always amazed that you know Hall and Hall, and I was.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Just thinking of Hall and what's your name? The beautiful
- 32:07Speaker 1: redheaded girl, so George.
- 32:08Speaker 3: I can't believe I can't remember her name right now.
- 32:09Speaker 1: I'm so embarrassed because no, they're still together.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Engaged, getting married and.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Christener, Caitlin or whatever the girl's name was.
- 32:19Speaker 2: That was this girl that I was about the wedding,
- 32:21Speaker 2: asked to officiated, couldn't go. They just got married. I
- 32:23Speaker 2: had them both on my podcasts.
- 32:25Speaker 1: She's married, happy, so amazing.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Leno and Alexa about to get married.
- 32:31Speaker 3: Yes, they're doing their thing.
- 32:33Speaker 2: So yeah, I.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Mean, maybe you have a better track record than maybe
- 32:39Speaker 1: we should do a comparison. Do you have a better
- 32:41Speaker 1: track record than love is Blind?
- 32:42Speaker 2: I don't know about that because I was just on
- 32:44Speaker 2: AD's podcast and she's married with a kid now, so
- 32:47Speaker 2: I think that's although we've got our first temptation Island
- 32:49Speaker 2: Baby on the way.
- 32:50Speaker 1: So, but Ad didn't marry somebody from her show, Well,
- 32:55Speaker 1: she married another Love is Blind? From Love is Blind?
- 32:57Speaker 3: Do you even meet on perfect match or something?
- 33:01Speaker 1: I don't know about that.
- 33:02Speaker 3: I don't know how that went down. I have to
- 33:03Speaker 3: look at this.
- 33:04Speaker 1: She did marry. I love his blind person, but.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Ollie, I love him.
- 33:06Speaker 3: I have a picture with him, and I look like
- 33:07Speaker 3: a turnyear old gnome next to this.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Listen, you gotta love a breakage accent. Okay, Now, what
- 33:13Speaker 1: do you do for fun that is not involving woodworking
- 33:17Speaker 1: and some pipes?
- 33:18Speaker 2: Basketball and golf are my sport hobbies. Okay, I haven't
- 33:24Speaker 2: done it in a couple of years, but I have
- 33:26Speaker 2: been a gigantic vegetable garden.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Dude, I remember that.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I made moonshine one year. I like that kind
- 33:35Speaker 2: of stuff. Beach, I like that. Yeah, I don't know.
- 33:43Speaker 2: I'm kind of game to play. Recently, my my best
- 33:47Speaker 2: friend Mark de Carlo, who's the host of Studs and
- 33:50Speaker 2: he's been the voice of Jimmy Neutron's father on that.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, Anyway.
- 33:57Speaker 2: He's way into ping punks. So we've been having these
- 33:59Speaker 2: like really heat a pink pong tournament.
- 34:01Speaker 3: So wow, that a little bit.
- 34:03Speaker 2: And I played my guitar a lot. My son bought
- 34:05Speaker 2: me have beautiful guitar as a gift. It was a
- 34:08Speaker 2: guitar that I've always kind of wanted, and he said,
- 34:10Speaker 2: you're never gonna buy it for yourself, so he bought it,
- 34:12Speaker 2: which was really beautiful. And then you know, my kids,
- 34:16Speaker 2: My daughter is crushing it and she's in Boston, but
- 34:20Speaker 2: we are very very close. So we've been, you know,
- 34:23Speaker 2: game planning together. And I don't know, I'm a little impulsive.
- 34:28Speaker 2: So I get on kicks and I'm into it for
- 34:29Speaker 2: a while and then I drop in midstream and yeah, yeah,
- 34:32Speaker 2: building stuff is fun. Golf is a regular. Basketball is
- 34:36Speaker 2: something I love. Yeah, that's kind of hobby stuff.
- 34:39Speaker 1: What TV are you watching right now? You're watching anything great,
- 34:42Speaker 1: like a Netlix or a binge.
- 34:44Speaker 2: And we've been watching We watched the whole Crazy Cult
- 34:50Speaker 2: one on Netflix.
- 34:51Speaker 1: The trust Me wasn't that great?
- 34:54Speaker 3: Oh my god, can.
- 34:55Speaker 1: You believe that guy in his leather jacket? Like, look
- 34:57Speaker 1: at me running around?
- 34:58Speaker 2: Why not a loser? Well? I want to govern North
- 35:01Speaker 2: and South South America.
- 35:03Speaker 1: And get a gold mine, and I want the.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Queen of England to come to my house.
- 35:07Speaker 1: He was so focused on getting the Queen of England
- 35:09Speaker 1: to be one of his wives. I was like, bruh,
- 35:11Speaker 1: A'm lower.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I say, you know, shoot your shot, Mikey. When I say.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Shoot your shot, that's a great That was a great documentary.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I watched that documentary. We watched you know, I
- 35:23Speaker 3: like Shrinking.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, obviously I love it.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Of course, we're way into We watched all of the
- 35:33Speaker 2: Handmaid's Tail and really loved it as it's serving as
- 35:36Speaker 2: so now the Testaments is out watching that. But I
- 35:39Speaker 2: watched to be honest with him, and this is not
- 35:41Speaker 2: me being company man. I go to Netflix first.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Yeah, me too.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I'm gonna start watching Running Point because I love that
- 35:47Speaker 2: with gold Goldie on with Kate Hudson. It's a basketball thing.
- 35:51Speaker 2: It's great. I love that.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:54Speaker 3: So and Full Swing, I'll watch that's a golf documentary.
- 35:57Speaker 2: I love that one. So. Yeah. Netflix usually keeps me
- 35:59Speaker 2: full with everything I need, and occasionally I hop over
- 36:02Speaker 2: to some other places.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Other places. What's your favorite?
- 36:06Speaker 2: Fine?
- 36:06Speaker 3: I like Love is Blind. I'm gonna watch Perfect Match.
- 36:08Speaker 2: I like those. I don't watch all the reality, but
- 36:11Speaker 2: I like those.
- 36:12Speaker 1: So what's your favorite book?
- 36:16Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 36:17Speaker 3: You know, I gotta complaint. Robbie is the book girl.
- 36:21Speaker 2: She's got them all and I read like the first
- 36:25Speaker 2: chapter in the blurb and then I my head's exploded.
- 36:28Speaker 1: And you can't take it. Yeah, some people are with
- 36:31Speaker 1: books and some people aren't.
- 36:33Speaker 2: There are books I love. There are some old basic
- 36:36Speaker 2: primers that I tell when I'm talking my stuff, I say,
- 36:39Speaker 2: these are the great ones, ones that I point to
- 36:41Speaker 2: a lot of. There's a book Way of the Way
- 36:44Speaker 2: of the Peaceful Warrior, uh, which you think is Dan Millman.
- 36:48Speaker 2: I love that book. There's there's another book that really
- 36:53Speaker 2: kind of changed my life with this big I this
- 36:56Speaker 2: is gross, but I call it a two bowel movement book.
- 36:58Speaker 2: You can read it on the toilet. It takes two time.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Mark that's gross.
- 37:01Speaker 3: Well, everybody poops, Mary Payne.
- 37:03Speaker 1: I know, I don't like to talk about it.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Well, I like to only talk about it. There's a
- 37:08Speaker 2: book called Mutant Message down under. Okay, this, but it's
- 37:13Speaker 2: it's a terrible book. It's about somebody who goes on
- 37:15Speaker 2: a walk about with an Aboriginal tribe, but it's all
- 37:17Speaker 2: life lesson stuff.
- 37:18Speaker 3: I kind of I like those kind of books.
- 37:20Speaker 2: My wife loves self help, spirituality, Anita more Johnny, uh
- 37:24Speaker 2: you know, yeah, round us all those people. And because
- 37:27Speaker 2: of her is how I know what I know, because
- 37:30Speaker 2: if we're up to me, I wouldn't do any of that.
- 37:32Speaker 3: But I don't do a.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Lot of pleasure reading. I don't really read like, you know,
- 37:36Speaker 2: spy novels and stuff like that.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Okay, what is your favorite movie?
- 37:43Speaker 2: Well, Godfather I always have to say, because it's the Godfather,
- 37:46Speaker 2: but Godfather two is better than Godfather one.
- 37:48Speaker 3: He you know, we've been watching a lot lately.
- 37:52Speaker 2: My wife likes to turn on a movie to fall
- 37:54Speaker 2: asleep and then I have to wake up and turn
- 37:55Speaker 2: it off. But there's an old movie that is worth
- 37:59Speaker 2: watching again because it makes me laugh every time that
- 38:02Speaker 2: we watch it, Defending Your Life with Albert Brooks.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Okay, I saw that, like Back to the Day.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Meryl Streep and Albert Brooks. It's funny.
- 38:10Speaker 3: And then i'm you know, this is where my wife
- 38:12Speaker 3: and I divide.
- 38:13Speaker 2: She likes drama deep and we've watched all those kind
- 38:18Speaker 2: of like and I don't know the names of any
- 38:19Speaker 2: of them right now, but all those you know, thriller,
- 38:22Speaker 2: you can't figure out who did it kind of Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 38:25Speaker 2: I love those and I watch them, but it's frustrating
- 38:27Speaker 2: for me because they're a puzzle and I'm trying to
- 38:28Speaker 2: figure them out. But I'm like my world Will Ferrell,
- 38:33Speaker 2: Yeah you know that kind of I like silly you know, yes,
- 38:37Speaker 2: crazy stuff, So I like that. So that's I like
- 38:41Speaker 2: to check out when I'm watching the movie sometimes and
- 38:43Speaker 2: not thinking.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Well, that's what my husband says too. Like I was
- 38:46Speaker 1: trying to get into what we were watching Succession. He
- 38:48Speaker 1: was like, here's the I love Succession. He's like it's
- 38:50Speaker 1: so heavy. He's like, I think that that's why I
- 38:53Speaker 1: like to relax with like everybody loves Raymond or Friends,
- 38:57Speaker 1: because it's just like it's not life is so heavy
- 39:01Speaker 1: that this is like fun, you know again, last question.
- 39:04Speaker 2: I ave to wrap this up. Last question because I.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Go, what's the most amazing place you've ever visited?
- 39:10Speaker 2: M wow. So there are a lot of places I
- 39:16Speaker 2: could try to impress you that I've been to, like
- 39:18Speaker 2: Lake Como and stuff like that. Although you'd be surprised
- 39:20Speaker 2: I have not done Europe, I really do. I've been
- 39:22Speaker 2: to Germany on some work things, been to Italy. We
- 39:24Speaker 2: had a little vacation. I've been to London. There is
- 39:27Speaker 2: a place is near and dear to my soul.
- 39:28Speaker 4: That I I hesitate mentioning because I don't want everybody going, okay,
- 39:34Speaker 4: But one of my favorite places in the country is northern.
- 39:39Speaker 3: Michigan in the summer.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Uh. I've heard the springs and Pataski Traverse Bay that area.
- 39:45Speaker 2: I spent summers there when I was eighteen nineteen doing
- 39:49Speaker 2: summerstock and performing. I learned how to do what I
- 39:51Speaker 2: do there. But it is one of.
- 39:55Speaker 3: The most beautiful places and I love it. And so
- 39:58Speaker 3: that's kind of probably one of.
- 39:59Speaker 2: My favorite places, Okay.
- 40:01Speaker 3: And then there's another place that's near and dear to
- 40:04Speaker 3: me that.
- 40:06Speaker 2: For many years since my son's now thirty four, but
- 40:08Speaker 2: when he was like seven, me and the guys that
- 40:11Speaker 2: I was friends with since I was eighteen nineteen years old,
- 40:14Speaker 2: four or five of us would take our sons and
- 40:16Speaker 2: go camping every year up in near Mammoth, but not
- 40:20Speaker 2: up in Mammoth but on the way to Mammoth, California.
- 40:23Speaker 2: And so that little trout stream camping area We've gone
- 40:28Speaker 2: back to year after year after year. For all these years,
- 40:31Speaker 2: I ended up bringing Robbie and Goldie and a bunch
- 40:32Speaker 2: of people there to do some camping. So camping there
- 40:36Speaker 2: or camping anywhere would be my happiest thing in the world.
- 40:39Speaker 2: It's also very much a mixture of the spiritual part
- 40:43Speaker 2: of me and they liking to use my tools part
- 40:45Speaker 2: of me because all the camping gear, Like I love
- 40:47Speaker 2: all the gadgets and toys. I like cooking outside and
- 40:50Speaker 2: touch of it and making fires and carving stuff and
- 40:53Speaker 2: you know, tents and all that. So that's my happiest
- 40:56Speaker 2: place is camping with my son is my favorite thing
- 40:59Speaker 2: in the world.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Ah, I love that. I can't even imagine. I'm a
- 41:03Speaker 1: very indoor person, but that's people that love camping. I'm fascinated.
- 41:07Speaker 2: I can tell so many indoor people camping so that
- 41:10Speaker 2: they know that there's a way to do it and
- 41:11Speaker 2: you can have a good time.
- 41:12Speaker 1: So I don't know, I think this dog can't change
- 41:15Speaker 1: your tricks. Mark, tell everybody where they can find you
- 41:19Speaker 1: and find your podcast.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Okay, so you know on Instagram, I'm at Mark Wahlberg
- 41:25Speaker 2: on TikTok I'm at Mark L. Wahlberg and my podcast,
- 41:29Speaker 2: which I have put on hiatus for a minute, but
- 41:31Speaker 2: I think I'm going to be relaunching in a way
- 41:33Speaker 2: I can't talk about yet, but we're working on that.
- 41:35Speaker 2: But that's there, and there are plenty of episodes to
- 41:37Speaker 2: watch at Bonfire Talks podcast where you get okay, okay.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Thank you mom.
- 41:42Speaker 3: I'm me Mary Payne. Sorry to Rush, I gotta run.
- 41:45Speaker 1: I understand you're busy.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Yeah,
