- 0:28content. So anxiety, can it hit you hard?
- 0:32Of course it can and it impact anybody and everybody, but there
- 0:36are like lots of people out there, especially men, who think
- 0:39it's very masculine to not talk about their issues or their
- 0:42mental health and kind of like brush it off and kind of, I
- 0:45don't know, it shows a sign of weakness if you say that you
- 0:48have mental health issues for some people anyway, because
- 0:50that's the kind of construct that society has dealt with and
- 0:53given us at the moment. So I decided that it was
- 0:54important that we understand the issues that men face when
- 0:57they're having anxiety attacks and anxiety symptoms.
- 0:59So I have put out five anxiety symptoms in men that you
- 1:04definitely need to know. And yeah, let's start right now,
- 1:07guys. The first one here is a racing
- 1:10heart. Now, when adrenaline starts
- 1:12pumping around your body due to like, increased anxiety, your
- 1:15heart rate will actually start beating more rapidly.
- 1:19So as it's like beating more rapidly, you know, there's
- 1:22everything going on and you're getting more kind of like how
- 1:24breath and your heart's beating rapidly.
- 1:26This is a very, very telltale sign that you're getting
- 1:28anxious. So what I say is that you have
- 1:32to watch out for this as an early warning sign for being
- 1:34anxious. Your heart starts beating.
- 1:35You'll definitely know about it 'cause you can feel it in your
- 1:37chest. Your heart start beating right
- 1:38out your chest. Like it's definitely something
- 1:41to look out for and nothing to be ashamed of.
- 1:43You just need to kind of go, OK, well, maybe I'm feeling a bit
- 1:45anxious right now. My heart rate is increased.
- 1:46You could also use an Apple Watch or something like that to
- 1:48kind of like track your heart rate to see if it increases
- 1:50anywhere. Good tip.
- 1:52OK, number 2 is excessive sweating.
- 1:54Now when you're like, you know, pumping adrenaline on your body
- 1:56and your heart racing, of course you're going to start sweating.
- 1:58That's why when you work out, isn't it, your heart rate
- 2:00increases and you sweat. So if you are sweating quite a
- 2:03lot and sweating excessively, this is an indication that
- 2:05you're online heading straight for an anxiety attack and
- 2:09anxiety is creeping up on you because you've got a bad, you
- 2:11know, your heart rate is beating at your chest and you start
- 2:13sweating. You're sweaty palms, you're
- 2:16like, Oh my goodness. You know, this is something that
- 2:18happens when you're feeling agitated and when you're feeling
- 2:20anxious. So bear that in mind.
- 2:23OK, so #3 is muscle tension. Now muscle tension happens
- 2:27because your body is going to fight or flight mode, which
- 2:30means that it thinks that it needs to kind of tense up in
- 2:32case you need to fight something.
- 2:34And then you, you need to kind of go running from danger or
- 2:40whatever, right? And that's what the fight or
- 2:42flight things for because adrenaline gets released into
- 2:43your body. And then that's what happens.
- 2:45But your muscles will start tensing up.
- 2:47But of course, if you're just like walking around a shop and
- 2:49you get an anxiety attack and your body thinks you're going to
- 2:50have to fight a Saber toothed tiger and your body starts
- 2:52tensing up, you'll feel your muscles just kind of get an all
- 2:55tense. And it's, yeah, it's not a good
- 2:56feeling. And that tense lasts a long,
- 2:58long time. Actually, after, after the panic
- 3:00attack happens, you'll be feeling sore from it as if
- 3:02you've just done a workout #4 here is restlessness or
- 3:05agitation. Now due to the male dominance of
- 3:08testosterone, agitation will be a prominent experience when
- 3:11you're experiencing anxiety, which means that you'll be quite
- 3:13tense and, and snappy and, and agitated and everything will
- 3:16become fight or flight because that's what's happening.
- 3:18You're, you're experiencing a, a mode that is there to protect
- 3:21you against Saber 2 tigers or glaciers or whatever.
- 3:23And so, you know, you're walking on the store and something
- 3:27happens and it's like, well, why is there a fight or flight
- 3:30happening in a store? Because we're now triggered by
- 3:32involuntary actions that will cause us anxiety and causes fear
- 3:36and causes to have all of these things coming into play.
- 3:38But bear in mind, these are all symptoms of an anxiety and a
- 3:41potential anxiety attack. So #5 is the dizziness of
- 3:45Vertigo. So after having a rush of
- 3:47adrenaline around your body and the fight or flight thing coming
- 3:50in, your brain will start to kind of be like, whoa, it needs
- 3:53a bit of air and a bit of space. And you'll maybe become dizzy
- 3:55and have a bit of Vertigo and not be able to focus on what
- 3:57you're doing because your body's just gone through like a
- 4:00workout, like a marathon, if you will.
- 4:02You know, it's just done all of this stuff and it's worked
- 4:04itself up because at the end of the day, you would potentially
- 4:08fighting for your life in your body's response to stuff.
- 4:10So these 5 symptoms are your best way of understanding your
- 4:13body and your best way of understanding, hey, do I have an
- 4:16anxiety issue? Do I have anxiety attack going
- 4:18on? This is how you deal with it.
- 4:20That's that's what it is. You know, you have to listen to
- 4:22your body, You have to listen to what happens.
- 4:25So you know, if you're a guy, you're watching this or you're a
- 4:28partner of and you know, your partner's a guy and you're kind
- 4:32of watching this, watch out for these symptoms and definitely
- 4:34just kind of take it easy. There's a bunch of stuff that
- 4:36I've done about how to help for anxiety.
- 4:38I will leave it in a card in the end screen and I'll put it in
- 4:41the description down below where you can check out more hacks for
- 4:44how to avoid anxiety attacks and how to lower anxiety in general.
