• 0:46
Speaker 1: Thank you very much.
• 0:47
  Speaker 1: We appreciate you.
• 0:48
Speaker 1: So should we do recalls first, or what do you want to do first?
• 0:53
  Speaker 1: It's your call.
• 0:55
  Speaker 2: It's your recall.
• 0:56
Speaker 3: You got recalls and then you got the price-guessing game, yeah.
• 1:02
Speaker 1: So let's do the recalls, Okay.
• 1:04
Speaker 1: First out of the box Ford as usual, it's unfortunate.
• 1:08
Speaker 1: You know they could save a lot of money, Wouldn't have to raise prices so much if they built decent cars that weren't recalled.
• 1:17
Speaker 2: They got a fuel leak this week or something, don't they?
• 1:18
Speaker 2: You know what they should do.
• 1:20
Speaker 2: Don Armstrong wants to buy a car.
• 1:23
Speaker 2: Okay, Don Armstrong, you come to the factory and you build it.
• 1:25
Speaker 2: Build your own car.
• 1:26
Speaker 2: That way, if there's anything wrong with it, it's on you.
• 1:28
Speaker 3: Do you know how long?
• 1:31
Speaker 2: No, you've got people to guide you.
• 1:32
Speaker 2: Okay, this bolt goes in there.
• 1:33
Speaker 2: Put that bolt on.
• 1:34
Speaker 2: That's not going to happen, do you?
• 1:35
Speaker 3: know how long it would still take so long for Don Armstrong to do that.
• 1:38
Speaker 3: He might be finished with his first chariot by now.
• 1:42
  Speaker 3: Much less.
• 1:43
Speaker 2: Starting on the next Ford, do you put the wooden wagon wheels on Right?
• 1:48
Speaker 2: We want the optional ones.
• 1:50
Speaker 3: With the iron tread on it.
• 1:51
  Speaker 3: Uh-huh iron tread.
• 1:52
Speaker 2: That's how tires started, because the iron would not wear the wood down.
• 1:56
Speaker 1: Well, ford is very well aware of the fact that they get a lot of recalls, some of them because of build quality, most of them because of failure of theirs, some of them because of build quality, most of them because of failure of their suppliers.
• 2:08
Speaker 1: And I ask them if, huh, do you think that you could put a little bit more effort in building more quality parts and pieces that you assemble at your factory?
• 2:18
Speaker 1: Because, as I've said many, many times, car companies Ford, gm, chrysler they don't actually make the parts.
• 2:29
Speaker 1: It's all farmed out.
• 2:31
Speaker 2: What these car companies are are assemblers is what they are mainly If you're driving down the road and you're behind a vehicle in traffic and you see the shape of the vehicle license plate, taillights, all that.
• 2:43
Speaker 2: But sometimes you see parts on this vehicle that resemble the parts on that vehicle.
• 2:48
Speaker 2: So is it a crossover from the vendor?
• 2:51
Speaker 2: I mean, I'm going to make an ABC tail light.
• 2:53
Speaker 2: Now, does that ABC tail light fit Audi, Does it fit Ford, Does it fit Jag?
• 2:58
Speaker 1: So I think a lot of that stuff is intermixed as well Some of it is, but I will well.
• 3:03
Speaker 1: For instance, the rear view camera issue.
• 3:06
Speaker 1: That goes across, I think, every make and model of car.
• 3:09
Speaker 1: I don't know whether it's a software issue or it's the actual camera or the display, but all the time we're getting recalls because of failure of the camera image on the screen.
• 3:21
Speaker 1: And the rear view camera is now mandatory on all cars.
• 3:27
Speaker 3: Right, and some of them the image is better than others, so it's hard to tell and they don't really go into that detail.
• 3:32
Speaker 1: Well, this image doesn't even exist.
• 3:34
Speaker 3: Right, but I mean they don't.
• 3:34
Speaker 3: Is it the physical camera itself, which isn't much?
• 3:39
Speaker 3: I mean it's not, no, there's not much to it.
• 3:41
Speaker 3: Or is it connections to the computer?
• 3:45
Speaker 2: I mean, there's so many places it could be a failure.
• 3:48
  Speaker 2: Electronics within.
• 3:49
Speaker 2: What is a diode?
• 3:50
Speaker 2: A diode is something that you should already know about.
• 3:55
Speaker 2: That's what it is.
• 3:56
Speaker 1: Is it any relationship to Odi Coloni?
• 3:58
Speaker 2: No, none at all.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: Ford recalling 273,789 SUVs because of the risk of lost brake function.
• 4:08
Speaker 1: Now, that could be that's the one I was thinking of.
• 4:10
Speaker 1: That could be a problem.
• 4:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, recall covers 22 to 24 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator.
• 4:16
Speaker 1: Only 1% of the vehicles are expected to be affected.
• 4:21
Speaker 1: The recall comes less than a month after the automaker recalled more than 123,000 2017 and 2018 Lincoln Navigators, ford Expeditions and F-150s for a similar issue, Because chances are that brake issue it goes across all of that.
• 4:41
Speaker 1: So from 17 to 24, they've been building the same part.
• 4:45
  Speaker 1: Yep.
• 4:45
Speaker 1: Other recalls I think pretty much every Volvo automobile known to man and guess what it is.
• 4:54
Speaker 1: Rear view camera image may not display All the Volvos.
• 4:59
Speaker 1: 22 to 25, go on the recall list at NHTSA type in your VIN number and it'll tell you if yours is on that list.
• 5:08
  Speaker 1: Yep.
• 5:09
Speaker 2: I saw a Peugeot pickup truck.
• 5:11
Speaker 2: I've never seen one.
• 5:13
Speaker 2: I didn't know when they made them.
• 5:14
  Speaker 2: It said Peugeot.
• 5:15
Speaker 2: It was some kind of whatever option.
• 5:19
Speaker 2: It was some kind of track vehicle.
• 5:20
Speaker 2: It looked like a Ranger size, but it was Peugeot.
• 5:24
Speaker 2: I had no clue.
• 5:26
Speaker 1: I'm going to look into it.
• 5:28
Speaker 1: Here's something that will give you a reason not to sleep at night.
• 5:30
Speaker 1: Electric oil pump may overheat.
• 5:32
  Speaker 1: That's what I need.
• 5:33
Speaker 1: Electric oil pump may overheat and cause a fire on the Hyundai Palisade for 2025.
• 5:39
Speaker 1: Hey, what you got?
• 5:41
Speaker 1: You bought a new car.
• 5:42
  Speaker 1: I did I bought a 2025 Hyundai Palisade.
• 5:45
Speaker 1: Poof In the driveway, the oil pump catches fire and that's the end of that.
• 5:51
Speaker 3: Isn't the oil pump still down in?
• 5:53
  Speaker 1: the oil pan.
• 5:54
Speaker 1: That's the real question.
• 5:56
Speaker 1: I don't know where the oil pump is.
• 5:58
  Speaker 1: It's in a dry sump.
• 5:58
  Speaker 1: I don't know.
• 6:00
Speaker 1: With new cars, you don't know where some of this stuff that they've moved it to or what powers it Is it the engine, or is it an electric motor?
• 6:09
Speaker 2: A little electric pump on the exterior.
• 6:10
Speaker 1: All it says here is electric oil pump.
• 6:12
  Speaker 1: May overheat.
• 6:13
  Speaker 3: Electric oil pump.
• 6:14
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, good catch.
• 6:17
  Speaker 1: Got excited there.
• 6:17
Speaker 1: Loose cylinder head screws may allow oil to leak.
• 6:21
Speaker 1: You think Audi Q5 and the Q5 Sportback, 22 to 24 model years.
• 6:27
Speaker 1: Okay, those are the recalls.
• 6:29
Speaker 3: See if you got an electric oil pump.
• 6:30
  Speaker 3: Don, you're such a complainer.
• 6:32
Speaker 1: You complain about everything all the time, not complaining, just telling you the facts.
• 6:36
Speaker 2: Nothing but the facts, ma'am.
• 6:38
Speaker 3: If you got an electric oil pump, you gotta have a way for that pump to be tied into the oil pan.
• 6:42
Speaker 3: Either it's mounted on the oil pan or you've got to line to the oil pan.
• 6:47
Speaker 2: No, well, I was going to say a pump.
• 6:49
Speaker 2: Yes, If it was just an activated like a servo or something that would be.
• 6:55
  Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
• 6:59
Speaker 1: A dry sump oil pump.
• 7:00
Speaker 2: I don't think it has that.
• 7:01
  Speaker 2: I don't think.
• 7:03
Speaker 3: It wouldn't be electric.
• 7:05
  Speaker 3: Why not?
• 7:05
Speaker 3: Could be Well if you spark something down there.
• 7:08
  Speaker 3: Dry pump.
• 7:09
Speaker 3: You get a spark down low.
• 7:10
Speaker 3: You never can tell.
• 7:14
Speaker 3: You haven't had one of those in decades.
• 7:16
Speaker 1: I'm telling you All right Sold cars.
• 7:18
  Speaker 1: Round up what.
• 7:20
Speaker 3: You got a cigarette there.
• 7:21
Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I got some Newports.
• 7:26
  Speaker 1: There you go.
• 7:28
Speaker 1: Newport cigarettes, remember those?
• 7:29
Speaker 1: All right, let's go over here to Hemmings and look at Soul Cars Roundup.
• 7:35
Speaker 1: It's a little guessing game with boys, including Jeff Heitzman and sometimes George.
• 7:41
Speaker 1: George Skelton will chime in and if you'd like to chime in, be our guest, if Doug.
• 7:44
Speaker 2: Schaefer'ston will chime in and if you'd like to chime in, be our guest.
• 7:46
Speaker 2: If Doug Schaefer's listening chime in.
• 7:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, Our email address is info at in real timecom.
• 7:50
Speaker 1: Is that where they check in through Mars?
• 7:52
  Speaker 1: Yes, Okay.
• 7:53
Speaker 1: So first up it's a 1966 Ford Mustang convertible.
• 8:00
Speaker 1: Now that's got stock wheels.
• 8:04
Speaker 1: It looks stock stock.
• 8:05
Speaker 1: Is that British Racing Green?
• 8:07
Speaker 1: Well, that's what I would call.
• 8:08
  Speaker 1: It Looks like it's got a 289 V8 in it.
• 8:11
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so it's a gussied up one.
• 8:14
  Speaker 3: Sure.
• 8:15
Speaker 1: It looks like the car top boot needs to be replaced on it.
• 8:22
  Speaker 3: That's okay.
• 8:23
Speaker 3: I think that's kind of the way they came.
• 8:25
Speaker 3: No, they didn't Kind of crappy, no, well, there's that, but it's got the little trunk luggage holder on the trunk.
• 8:31
  Speaker 3: You know what?
• 8:32
  Speaker 3: I think it's been recalled.
• 8:33
  Speaker 1: Yeah, all right.
• 8:35
Speaker 1: So how much did that sell for a couple of weeks ago?
• 8:37
Speaker 2: I'm going to go dang 12.
• 8:43
  Speaker 3: 12?
• 8:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, mars, no, I'm going to go.
• 8:46
Speaker 3: Heitzman took my number at 22, so I'm going to go 20.
• 8:51
  Speaker 3: George says 16.
• 8:54
Speaker 1: Mars, I can't believe it, but you won that one.
• 8:57
  Speaker 2: What do you?
• 8:58
  Speaker 1: got 22?
• 8:58
Speaker 1: Sole price at $20,790.
• 9:01
Speaker 2: I was going to say that Of course you were.
• 9:03
Speaker 1: All right, we can quit now.
• 9:04
Speaker 1: Next up is the 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle.
• 9:09
  Speaker 1: Look at that.
• 9:10
Speaker 2: What do we got badged on that?
• 9:12
Speaker 1: That would be a 396, if I'm not mistaken.
• 9:14
  Speaker 3: Oh no, that's a clone.
• 9:15
  Speaker 3: Hubba, hubba.
• 9:17
Speaker 1: Okay, well, yeah, you decide, but it does have a stinger hood.
• 9:20
Speaker 1: That is not factory.
• 9:21
  Speaker 3: Absolutely.
• 9:22
Speaker 1: That would be the first thing that I'd change.
• 9:24
Speaker 1: And those SS Kragers, that's old school.
• 9:26
Speaker 1: They need to move up.
• 9:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, so 66, chevy Chevelle.
• 9:30
Speaker 1: How much did that car sell for?
• 9:31
Speaker 1: Looks like it's a black on black.
• 9:33
Speaker 1: It looks pretty good 17.
• 9:36
  Speaker 1: 17.
• 9:37
Speaker 1: Heitzman says 25, but even with it being a clone, I'm going to go 28.
• 9:48
  Speaker 1: 34.9.
• 9:49
Speaker 1: I got close, so that tells me that it might not be a clone.
• 9:52
Speaker 1: It might not be a numbers-matching vehicle, but it's not a clone.
• 9:56
Speaker 1: Either that or it's in really pristine shape.
• 9:58
Speaker 3: Well, it's that, but with that hood and stuff that hood.
• 10:03
Speaker 2: That stinger hood does not work for me.
• 10:03
Speaker 2: And right the wheels got to go too 2014.
• 10:05
Speaker 1: Chevy Corvette is our next up 2014.
• 10:08
  Speaker 1: So this is a C 6 or 7.
• 10:18
  Speaker 2: Either, or I'll call it a 7.
• 10:20
  Speaker 2: Whatever 2014.
• 10:22
  Speaker 1: Chevy Corvette.
• 10:23
Speaker 1: Looks clean, looks stock, stock wheels, nice chrome wheels.
• 10:32
  Speaker 2: Red 34.
• 10:34
  Speaker 1: Jeff says 34.
• 10:35
Speaker 1: Mr Mars, what do you think?
• 10:38
Speaker 3: I give you about 10 for it.
• 10:39
Speaker 3: I don't like the headlights and stuff on it.
• 10:42
  Speaker 3: 10?
• 10:42
Speaker 3: Heitzman says 31, and I probably would say if it was 38.
• 10:49
Speaker 1: What did you say, Jeff 34.
• 10:50
  Speaker 1: 33-6.
• 10:52
  Speaker 3: Jeff wins.
• 10:52
  Speaker 3: George said 35.
• 10:53
Speaker 3: He came in a little late, but he got it in before you said it, so y'all were kind of in the ballpark, all right.
• 10:59
Speaker 1: We're going to sell it to Mike for 60.
• 11:00
Speaker 1: Kind of in the ballpark.
• 11:00
Speaker 1: All right, we're going to sell it to Mike for $60.
• 11:02
Speaker 1: I now have a couple of Pontiacs.
• 11:03
Speaker 1: Oh, let me get to the next one.
• 11:05
Speaker 1: Two Pontiacs coming up.
• 11:06
Speaker 1: The first one here is the 1968 Pontiac Firebird Pre-chicken.
• 11:12
Speaker 1: Now, this is a convertible and if I were a guessing man I would say this is probably an all-original.
• 11:22
Speaker 1: Now, you may not agree with me or I don't know, but you'll find out 400.
• 11:32
  Speaker 1: Yeah, A 68 Pontiac Firebird 34.
• 11:37
  Speaker 1: 34.
• 11:38
  Speaker 1: Yes.
• 11:38
  Speaker 3: Mars, I would say 24.
• 11:42
  Speaker 3: Heisman says 28.
• 11:45
Speaker 1: So, as I said, this looks like an all original $54,600 is what it went for.
• 11:52
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 11:53
  Speaker 2: That's a lot of dough.
• 11:54
Speaker 2: That's a lot of dough for that.
• 11:56
  Speaker 3: Maybe it's a four-speed or something there.
• 11:57
  Speaker 2: I mean, it says it's a 400.
• 11:59
Speaker 3: I didn't even know they put a 400 in it, Plus it's a drop top, so.
• 12:03
  Speaker 1: That's why I say it's got to be an all-original.
• 12:05
  Speaker 1: For $54,000?
• 12:06
  Speaker 1: Yeah, alright.
• 12:07
Speaker 1: Next up the next Pontiac quite different from the 68.
• 12:11
  Speaker 1: This is a 66.
• 12:12
Speaker 1: The stacked quad headlamps this too is probably an all-original.
• 12:19
Speaker 1: Now it might not have original paint, but it appears as though it's a stock 66 GTO.
• 12:26
Speaker 1: What do you think that that's sold for?
• 12:29
Speaker 1: Now is that a convertible.
• 12:30
Speaker 2: Yes, it is, it's a soft top.
• 12:32
Speaker 1: Okay, I'm going to go 32.
• 12:34
  Speaker 1: Okay, 32.
• 12:39
Speaker 3: Mr Mars, I'm going to go 28.
• 12:42
Speaker 3: God, you guys are.
• 12:43
  Speaker 3: Heitzman says 32.
• 12:46
  Speaker 1: 68, 250.
• 12:48
Speaker 1: I said to you, this looks like an all-original stock.
• 12:52
Speaker 3: I'm only buying half of it.
• 12:53
Speaker 3: I understand what you're saying, but I mean I'm seeing it's got hood pins on it, which is not factory, so somebody's jacked with it, and I'm not even sure on it, which is not factory.
• 13:03
Speaker 3: So somebody's jacked with it.
• 13:04
Speaker 3: I'm not even sure I didn't even know they made a convertible back that day or a GTO model.
• 13:07
  Speaker 3: Alright, moving on.
• 13:08
  Speaker 3: George said 26.
• 13:11
  Speaker 1: A 1986 Old Mobile 442.
• 13:17
Speaker 1: Now an 86 model means even though it's a 442, it doesn't have any horsepower.
• 13:23
Speaker 3: Well, that means it's got four wheels and it's got four tires and it's got two horsepower?
• 13:28
Speaker 1: That's not what it means.
• 13:28
Speaker 1: Two exhausts, okay, yeah Well, and the mud flaps.
• 13:31
Speaker 2: The mud flaps have got me oh yeah, oh, yeah I have to pay an extra for that, and I'm going to pay right at $14,000.
• 13:37
Speaker 1: All right, Let me just tell you this that it is a clone $14,000.
• 13:41
Speaker 2: Oh, wow For a clone.
• 13:43
  Speaker 2: Let's go $12,000.
• 13:46
  Speaker 2: I'll go $12,000.
• 13:47
Speaker 2: Jeff Heitzman and that's high.
• 13:49
  Speaker 3: Are you serious?
• 13:50
  Speaker 3: What did?
• 13:50
  Speaker 1: Heitzman say $34,000.
• 13:52
Speaker 1: No, not for a clone.
• 13:55
Speaker 3: But what do you say Morris?
• 13:56
Speaker 3: Maybe he missed the.
• 13:57
  Speaker 3: I would actually say 18.
• 13:59
  Speaker 3: George says 18, so I'll go 16.
• 14:01
  Speaker 1: I'm going.
• 14:01
  Speaker 1: 12.
• 14:02
  Speaker 1: 19, 688 for a clone.
• 14:07
  Speaker 2: You know what?
• 14:08
Speaker 2: Okay, it must be like immaculate.
• 14:12
Speaker 3: Well, I'm sure it is, but it's got to be.
• 14:15
Speaker 1: I don't believe that that emblem up there under the left front headlight is stock.
• 14:19
Speaker 2: I don't think that the headlight you think somebody at a dealership put that on there.
• 14:22
Speaker 1: I don't know, but that doesn't look like some sort of stock place to put that.
• 14:27
Speaker 3: Same guy that put the mud flaps, the bolt-on mud flaps on and put that on.
• 14:32
Speaker 1: Okay, we're getting down here to the nitty-gritty.
• 14:33
Speaker 1: The factory Next up the Jeep that nobody liked.
• 14:39
Speaker 2: Oh square headlight Jeep.
• 14:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, nobody liked oh Square headlight Jeep.
• 14:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, square headlight Jeep no reserve 1989 Jeep Wrangler, yellow, two-door, obviously In 89, they didn't build a four-door.
• 14:52
Speaker 1: So it's got the square headlights on it and it's got some custom touches like that front bumper.
• 14:58
Speaker 1: I don't know what else it's got, but there you go.
• 15:02
Speaker 2: So what do you think that that drew?
• 15:03
Speaker 2: I'm going to give you eight only because of the wheel chalk on the left front tire.
• 15:08
  Speaker 2: Oh God.
• 15:11
  Speaker 1: I didn't even see that.
• 15:12
Speaker 1: But yeah, either that or he's an airline pilot, or something, or it's on a slope, yeah, so 1989 Jeep Wrangler Eight.
• 15:21
  Speaker 1: Jeff says eight.
• 15:23
Speaker 3: Mars Heitzman says 21.
• 15:26
  Speaker 3: George says 10.
• 15:27
Speaker 3: And I'm going to say 16.
• 15:29
  Speaker 3: $6,200.
• 15:32
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 15:33
Speaker 2: And if you look closer, they've tagged these trees for cutting them down.
• 15:36
  Speaker 2: Look at that.
• 15:36
Speaker 2: Oh true, these are tagged, yeah.
• 15:38
Speaker 1: Probably to make room for a bigger garage.
• 15:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, and put oh true Shoes are tagged.
• 15:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, probably to make room for a bigger garage, put a real Jeep in it.
• 15:44
Speaker 2: That's what they make the wooden wheelchops out of.
• 15:46
  Speaker 2: Okay, next up.
• 15:47
Speaker 1: Next up, this is for Jeff.
• 15:49
Speaker 1: All right, look at that.
• 15:49
Speaker 1: This is a 1949 Dodge Wayfarer.
• 15:53
Speaker 1: I didn't even know that there was such a thing.
• 15:56
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 15:57
Speaker 2: There's a Wayfarer and an Eagle song.
• 15:59
Speaker 1: Well, there's also a, isn't there a website that you can go to and buy things on?
• 16:06
  Speaker 1: It's called Wayfair.
• 16:07
  Speaker 1: Oh, Wayfair, okay.
• 16:08
  Speaker 1: 1949 Dodge.
• 16:12
Speaker 3: Wayfarer, you don't get out much.
• 16:14
  Speaker 1: How much Convertible?
• 16:15
Speaker 3: It looks completely stock.
• 16:16
Speaker 1: It looks beautiful if you're into that body style $62,000.
• 16:22
  Speaker 2: Really Yeah.000.
• 16:23
  Speaker 2: Really yeah.
• 16:23
  Speaker 3: Okay, mars.
• 16:24
  Speaker 3: No, I'm thinking like $45,000.
• 16:27
  Speaker 3: $45,000.
• 16:28
Speaker 3: I got no input from the internet yet.
• 16:31
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 16:31
Speaker 1: Well, we're just going to move on, because I'm going to tell you it went for $22,155.
• 16:38
  Speaker 1: Gosh.
• 16:38
Speaker 1: That seems like a bargain to me yeah it does.
• 16:42
Speaker 1: And last up is Jeff's Car of the Week Yoo-hoo, a 1975 Buick LaSabra.
• 16:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, look at the size of that thing, baby blue white interior it almost doesn't even fit into the picture frame.
• 16:56
  Speaker 1: It's so big, it's a three-holer.
• 17:00
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 17:00
  Speaker 1: A Buick LaSabra three-holer?
• 17:01
  Speaker 1: Yeah, a Buick LeSabre three-holer.
• 17:03
  Speaker 3: Three-holer drop top.
• 17:04
  Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
• 17:06
Speaker 2: That side marker light is as big as my headlight.
• 17:10
Speaker 1: How much do you think that car weighs?
• 17:12
Speaker 1: Oh, probably something 6,000 pounds.
• 17:15
Speaker 1: 6,000 pounds yeah, that's a nice round number.
• 17:17
  Speaker 1: How much?
• 17:19
  Speaker 2: 15-inch tires.
• 17:20
Speaker 2: It's got the depth.
• 17:21
  Speaker 2: I how much 15-inch tires?
• 17:30
  Speaker 3: I'm going to go 14.
• 17:30
Speaker 3: Next, michael George says 13,250.
• 17:35
Speaker 3: I'm going to go flat.
• 17:35
  Speaker 3: 12.
• 17:36
Speaker 1: All right, this, ladies and gentlemen, is a George Skelton car.
• 17:40
Speaker 1: I could see him driving through the halls of Temple Texas driving this at $8,650.
• 17:48
  Speaker 3: $8,000?
• 17:49
Speaker 1: The problem is you're going to have to buy a new garage because this won't fit in yours.
• 17:53
Speaker 3: No, it definitely won't fit in mine.
• 17:54
Speaker 3: I don't even know if it'd fit on the driveway.
• 17:59
Speaker 1: You get three gas stations to the mile.
• 18:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's our fun little weekly Hemmings Sold Cars Roundup.

• 20:10
Speaker 1: Time now for the Motor Minute.
• 20:12
  Speaker 1: Jeffrey has that.
• 20:13
  Speaker 2: Motor Minute.
• 20:13
Speaker 2: We're going back to Indy.
• 20:15
Speaker 2: Last week we talked about some unique facts and things about Indianapolis Speedway.
• 20:19
Speaker 2: I've got some e-mails and some information from other people hey, what about this?
• 20:22
  Speaker 2: What about that?
• 20:23
Speaker 2: Well, originally the surface was made of crushed stone and tar, giving it the nickname Brickyard, and there was like over a million bricks at one time that were laid in the track.
• 20:36
Speaker 2: While most tracks have been paved with asphalt, a one-yard strip of the original bricks remain as a start-finish line, known as the Yard of Bricks.
• 20:43
Speaker 2: We all knew that the first Indianapolis 500 race, also known as the Indy 500, took place in 1911, has since become the most prestigious race in motor sports history.
• 20:53
Speaker 2: Memorial Day tradition besides my birthday, the Indy 500 is traditionally held on Memorial Week and attracting enthusiasts from around the world.
• 21:00
Speaker 2: We did know that Oval track.
• 21:03
Speaker 2: Speedway's oval track is a 2.5-mile long track which features four distinct turns, short chute and all that good stuff which makes it very exciting.
• 21:11
Speaker 2: The largest seating capacity for any sporting event is 250,000 spectators.
• 21:17
Speaker 2: Nascar is even getting involved because it hosts the Brickyard 400, and a race has been held at the Speedway since 1994.
• 21:24
Speaker 2: I think Jeff Gordon won that first one.
• 21:28
Speaker 2: World War II, world War I, I should say During World War I, the track was temporarily closed and the facility was used for military aviation and vehicle repair.
• 21:36
Speaker 2: Airmail days, the inaugural US Transcontinental Airmail Service, took off from the Speedway in 1918.
• 21:42
Speaker 2: And there's called the Triple Crown, which is winning the 500, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Formula 1 World Championship was all won by Graham Hill, which was an English race car driver, and has not been achieved since.
• 21:56
Speaker 2: The Pagoda is an iconic control tower that overlooks the track and serves as the central hub for the race management.
• 22:02
Speaker 2: Grand Prix, figure Eight Racing, which is exciting to me.
• 22:05
Speaker 2: In the early years the track hosted the Grand Prix of Figure Eight Racing, a unique, challenging form of motorsport, and the last one.
• 22:13
Speaker 2: A lot of calls on this one.
• 22:14
Speaker 2: The museum, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway you ever been there?
• 22:18
Speaker 2: I've been there not during a race, but then been there off-season.
• 22:22
Speaker 2: Speedway Museum showcases a wide array of racing memorabilia, historic race cars, making it a must-visit for racing enthusiasts.
• 22:29
Speaker 2: If you're in Indianapolis, go see it.
• 22:32
Speaker 1: I encourage you to do that?
• 22:33
Speaker 1: Yeah, because the winning car actually goes into the museum right after the race, after they clean it up a little bit, and then we bid on it.
• 22:39
Speaker 1: Then we bid on it.
• 22:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, all right time now for this hour's car review.
• 22:43
Speaker 1: Had a chance to drive the 2024 Ford Ranger Mid-size pickup truck.
• 22:49
Speaker 1: Final assembly location Wayne Michigan.
• 22:52
  Speaker 2: Yeah, baby.
• 22:53
Speaker 1: Available trim levels XL, xlt, lariat and Raptor.
• 22:58
Speaker 1: Now I will tell you that I drove two Rangers back-to-back.
• 23:02
Speaker 1: I just got out of the Raptor, which I'll review next week.
• 23:06
Speaker 1: This is not the Raptor.
• 23:08
Speaker 1: Okay, so it falls under the XL, xlt and Lariat trim levels.
• 23:13
Speaker 1: Now I had the SuperCrew 4x4 Lariat, Standard pickup truck, midsize, as we call it, five seats in it.
• 23:22
Speaker 1: It was all new for 2024.
• 23:26
Speaker 1: Exterior features Ford-esque styling with attractive grille design.
• 23:30
Speaker 1: Body side sculpting on regular trims adds to the overall look.
• 23:38
Speaker 1: And I say regular trims because the Raptor has got different trim and different sculpting on the side.
• 23:44
Speaker 1: Didn't know that had to look.
• 23:45
Speaker 1: Full vent on the front fenders like that.
• 23:49
Speaker 1: Tailgate and rear lighting are modern and add to its attractiveness.
• 23:54
Speaker 1: Overall, this truck gets high marks for exterior design.
• 23:58
Speaker 1: What could use improvement?
• 23:58
  Speaker 1: Nothing.
• 23:59
Speaker 1: Interior highlights again high marks for interior design.
• 24:03
Speaker 1: Ford knows trucks and they know how to build them and they did a bang-up job on this one.
• 24:10
Speaker 1: This trim level comes with larger infotainment screen.
• 24:13
Speaker 1: Bang up job on this one.
• 24:15
Speaker 1: This trim level comes with larger infotainment screen.
• 24:17
Speaker 1: Looks and works great.
• 24:17
Speaker 1: Cubby above the glove box is really nice.
• 24:19
Speaker 1: It's a handy feature, especially for your passenger.
• 24:22
Speaker 1: Materials throughout the cabin are nice and they're also of the heavy duty variety.
• 24:28
Speaker 1: So it's not going to be the lush plush velvet in mom's Cadillac in that going to be the lush plush velvet in mom's Cadillac in that, what I liked.
• 24:36
Speaker 1: Even the cloth seats are attractive and comfortable.
• 24:39
Speaker 1: What could use improvement?
• 24:40
Speaker 1: Some instrument gauges are a little bit too small for these old eyes to read clearly, for instance the gas gauge.
• 24:49
Speaker 1: Oh boy, it's tiny and you've got to really pay attention and look at it.
• 24:52
Speaker 1: You've got to look for it.
• 24:53
Speaker 3: You've got to look for it.
• 24:54
Speaker 1: You've got to look for it.
• 24:55
Speaker 1: And once you get there, okay, where is the gas?
• 24:58
Speaker 1: Is it a quarter of a take?
• 24:59
  Speaker 1: I really can't tell.
• 25:00
Speaker 1: So if that matters to you, then complain.
• 25:05
Speaker 1: 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, that turns out 270 horsepower.
• 25:08
  Speaker 1: You're going.
• 25:09
Speaker 1: Oh well, that's not much.
• 25:10
  Speaker 1: Yeah, going on.
• 25:14
Speaker 1: Well, that's not much.
• 25:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's matched actually pretty well with this mid-sized truck to 310 pound feet of torque, 10 speed automatic transmission, a tow rating 7,500 pounds.
• 25:21
  Speaker 1: It's a lot.
• 25:22
Speaker 1: Haul rating 1,800 pounds.
• 25:24
Speaker 1: Now, manufacturer miles per gallon city 19.
• 25:29
Speaker 1: It's rated 23 on the highway for combined at 20.
• 25:32
Speaker 1: I averaged 21.1 miles per gallon over 406.9 miles.
• 25:39
Speaker 1: What I liked about it plenty of pep and capability with this engine transmission combination.
• 25:45
Speaker 1: And the reason that they're able to get away with 270 horsepower is that 10-speed automatic transmission.
• 25:51
Speaker 1: And we talked to the guy at Stellantis last week that forget the drive ratio in the rear axle.
• 25:57
Speaker 1: These days they do it all in the transmission.
• 25:59
Speaker 1: And man, I'm telling you that 10-speed automatic transmission, sweet, makes a lot of difference.
• 26:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, it really does.
• 26:06
Speaker 1: Ride and handling is great, especially for an unloaded pickup truck, because really to be a true tester you need to put about 1,000 pounds in the bed and or tow something with it to get the real gist of what that truck is made for.
• 26:20
Speaker 1: If you're just going to buy the truck because you like the way that it looks great, you don't have to worry about it.
• 26:25
  Speaker 1: It's still a good ride.
• 26:25
Speaker 1: But to do it the right way you've got to put a load on it and I didn't do that.
• 26:30
  Speaker 1: Shame on me.
• 26:32
Speaker 1: Did you say it was a compact or a midsize pickup?
• 26:33
Speaker 1: It's a midsize, the compact is the maverick.
• 26:36
Speaker 1: We're going to get to that in just a second Ride.
• 26:38
  Speaker 1: And handling great.
• 26:39
Speaker 1: In my opinion we could use improvement.
• 26:41
Speaker 1: If you want more of this size truck, get the Raptor.
• 26:45
Speaker 1: You'll understand why when I tell you this Base trim price $55,620.
• 26:53
  Speaker 1: Prices tested $55,620.
• 27:03
Speaker 1: Price is tested $60,050.
• 27:04
Speaker 1: Base model price $32,670.
• 27:06
Speaker 1: Shop, shop, shop this truck if you really are interested in that size truck.
• 27:08
Speaker 1: Now competitors the Chevy Colorado starts at $29,500.
• 27:10
  Speaker 1: Now the Ford.
• 27:10
Speaker 1: Again, base is $3,267.
• 27:13
Speaker 1: Base on the Chevy Colorado $29,500.
• 27:15
Speaker 1: Toyota Tacoma starts at $33,700, right in the ballpark with it and the smaller Ford Maverick and I threw this in there just so you get an idea the smaller Ford Maverick starts at $23,920.
• 27:30
Speaker 1: That's $10,000 less on a starting price than the Ranger.
• 27:35
Speaker 1: Does it have the capability.
• 27:37
Speaker 1: No, it's smaller, it's a different truck, right, but I thought it would be interesting to know what's the difference.
• 27:43
Speaker 1: Well, I like the Maverick, but I like the Ranger, not quite sure, don't really care about the size as much.
• 27:48
Speaker 1: Well, the Maverick is definitely smaller, but starts at $23,900.
• 27:54
Speaker 3: Yeah, the Maverick is definitely smaller, but starts at $23,900.
• 27:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, so you've got the Maverick, the Ranger, the 150, and the price steps up accordingly.
• 27:59
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 28:00
Speaker 1: But overall I really did like it a lot.
• 28:03
Speaker 1: And you know I go back to the original Ranger.
• 28:07
Speaker 1: You still see those stupid things on the road.
• 28:10
Speaker 1: They've got to have a million miles on them and the guys that have those, they take care of them.
• 28:14
Speaker 2: Yeah Nothing wrong with that?
• 28:17
Speaker 2: Nothing wrong with that at all.
• 28:18
Speaker 3: You can't replace them, that's right.
• 28:19
Speaker 1: You can't, and I'm sure that there are plenty of replacement parts available for them as well.
