- 0:00Speaker 1: Siriani and you heard him right here on the Sports
- 0:03Speaker 1: Bats Live. You know, he got asked about aj He said,
- 0:06Speaker 1: he's very important to our team. He wants to contribute
- 0:09Speaker 1: to the wins, no question. His desire to want to
- 0:15Speaker 1: be here is what Sirianni said as the start of
- 0:19Speaker 1: that thing. Now, one question. Now he is still talking.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Apparently we cut it a little short there because Jeff
- 0:24Speaker 1: Mosher is in the stream yard now and on the
- 0:26Speaker 1: radio here at ninety seven three ESPN it's football at four,
- 0:30Speaker 1: And I did not hear anybody ask about Jalen Hurts. Now,
- 0:33Speaker 1: Martin Frank just asked a question about his first half
- 0:35Speaker 1: to his second half and his first half in La
- 0:38Speaker 1: versus second half in La. But most I want to
- 0:42Speaker 1: start off with the question like nobody asked yesterday, But
- 0:45Speaker 1: did Jalen Hurts look like he should have been playing
- 0:47Speaker 1: in the game in the second half after he took
- 0:49Speaker 1: that shot he could barely get to his feet.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I mean, it's hard to say. Then then you get
- 0:56Speaker 2: into speculation he did. He was slow to get up,
- 0:59Speaker 2: he took some the shots. It was also though, I.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Mean, the league has people looking at.
- 1:05Speaker 2: This, reviewing it from up top and nobody signaled for
- 1:08Speaker 2: him to come to the side or get checked out.
- 1:11Speaker 3: He spoke after the game.
- 1:13Speaker 2: So sometimes you know, if you're suffering from percussion and
- 1:16Speaker 2: showing symptoms, even if they didn't see it on the
- 1:19Speaker 2: sideline after the game, they'll withhold you from speaking to
- 1:22Speaker 2: the media. You'll get whatever treatment as you start to
- 1:24Speaker 2: get into the protocol.
- 1:26Speaker 3: And that didn't seem to happen. He spoke today.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Look, the big giveaway will be if he's not in
- 1:31Speaker 2: a concussion protocol tomorrow, then he didn't have a concussion,
- 1:34Speaker 2: because they're certainly not going to be like, oh, in retrospect,
- 1:38Speaker 2: he had a concussion, but let's not put him on
- 1:39Speaker 2: the concussion protocol to save the leagues and are behind.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Okay, well, then I let's you know, and I'm not saying, hey,
- 1:46Speaker 1: this is wrong, but then because to me, he went
- 1:48Speaker 1: fifteen to sixteen in the first half, he was oh
- 1:50Speaker 1: of eight and the second half and he wasn't close.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I mean, he was all over the place yesterday. And
- 1:55Speaker 1: one of the things that Sirianni brought up is his
- 1:59Speaker 1: efficiency and you know all that stuff. Well, he was
- 2:02Speaker 1: inefficient in the second and he didn't look like he
- 2:04Speaker 1: was in the same stratosphere as the player he was
- 2:06Speaker 1: in first, was that something that Tampa did well.
- 2:10Speaker 3: They certainly made an adjustment, Like.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I almost feel like they walked into a buzzsaw a
- 2:15Speaker 2: little bit because two things. One, they always blitz that's
- 2:20Speaker 2: what Todd Bowles does. That's what he always does, and
- 2:22Speaker 2: he does it well against the Eagles. But the Eagles
- 2:25Speaker 2: of him getting blitzed a lot the first three weeks,
- 2:27Speaker 2: so they've seen it quite a bit, and you know,
- 2:30Speaker 2: the Rams went out of carrot.
- 2:31Speaker 3: We talked about this last week.
- 2:32Speaker 2: The Rams blitz at twelve percent going into the game
- 2:35Speaker 2: against the Eagles, and they blitzed around forty percent. So
- 2:38Speaker 2: I almost felt like Todd did a little bit too much,
- 2:41Speaker 2: almost tried too hard because he the Eagles were expecting it,
- 2:45Speaker 2: and they built their offense around expecting it, and it
- 2:48Speaker 2: set up a ton of one on ones for the
- 2:50Speaker 2: Eagles to find. Right and then in the second half,
- 2:53Speaker 2: Todd Bowles stopped blitzing. He showed it a lot of times,
- 2:56Speaker 2: but he basically rushed three and four and dropped guys
- 3:00Speaker 2: the coverage, which was a major adjustment and something that
- 3:03Speaker 2: the Eagles I think didn't do a great job in
- 3:06Speaker 2: total of adjusting to now.
- 3:07Speaker 3: There were still opportunities as you're talking.
- 3:09Speaker 2: About, and Hurts missed on a couple of one on
- 3:12Speaker 2: ones on the outside that it usually hits.
- 3:14Speaker 3: But I think you also have to a.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Factor that the second half was about what two thirty
- 3:20Speaker 2: three o'clock, that's when the sun's at its hottest. They
- 3:22Speaker 2: were reporting that the Eagles sideline was really blazing in
- 3:25Speaker 2: the second right at the start of the second half,
- 3:27Speaker 2: So maybe that had something to do with that.
- 3:29Speaker 3: I really don't know.
- 3:30Speaker 2: We also have seen this offense do this quite often
- 3:34Speaker 2: in the in games over the last year and a
- 3:36Speaker 2: half to two years, where they are unstoppable for a
- 3:38Speaker 2: half and don't have a clue for another half.
- 3:41Speaker 1: So there's the one sequence where he throws the ball
- 3:44Speaker 1: to AJ three straight plays. None of them were close.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I mean, what's going on in that sequence? There is
- 3:49Speaker 1: that him trying to appease AJ? Is that him, you know,
- 3:54Speaker 1: doesn't have anybody so let me try to get I
- 3:55Speaker 1: mean one of them he throws it to two buccaneers essentially.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Yeah, and again I think that that was a little
- 4:02Speaker 2: bit that was in the second.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Half of I'm not mistaken right, yeah, yep, yeah.
- 4:05Speaker 2: I mean in what the Bucks were doing where they're
- 4:09Speaker 2: showing blitz.
- 4:09Speaker 3: So you think you got that.
- 4:11Speaker 2: One on one and Aj is your one on one guy, right,
- 4:13Speaker 2: Aj and DeVante, But then right at the snap they
- 4:16Speaker 2: drop guys in the coverage, and.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Then what you thought was there is not there.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I'm actually going to go take a look after this
- 4:23Speaker 2: those three particular plays and see if I notice that.
- 4:26Speaker 3: That was the case.
- 4:27Speaker 2: But I know that that was going on in the
- 4:29Speaker 2: second half quite a bit, and it's very possible that
- 4:34Speaker 2: it was just the adjustment that was difficult for the
- 4:37Speaker 2: Eagles to kind of counteract to.
- 4:40Speaker 1: What is your take on Aj Brown and what you
- 4:43Speaker 1: know has transpired. That's the first question that Nick gets today.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Very important to our team. He wants to contribute, no question,
- 4:51Speaker 1: his desire to want to be here. But when you
- 4:54Speaker 1: see what Aj has done is just just a it's Aj,
- 4:57Speaker 1: He's a wide receiver. This happens or is there something
- 4:59Speaker 1: big going on here?
- 5:01Speaker 2: I mean it's it's not the first time that you know,
- 5:04Speaker 2: Aj has either said something or tweeted something, or you know,
- 5:08Speaker 2: and he's clearly been frustrated. I think Nick said in
- 5:10Speaker 2: the press conference today something that made a lot of sense.
- 5:12Speaker 2: He said, you know, these games have reminded us a
- 5:14Speaker 2: little bit of the first four games of last year,
- 5:18Speaker 2: and obviously they were.
- 5:19Speaker 3: There were two and two last year and now they
- 5:22Speaker 3: are four and oh.
- 5:23Speaker 2: But there were some pitfalls and some obvious frustrations there
- 5:28Speaker 2: last year that I think you're seeing this year. But
- 5:32Speaker 2: the Eagles tend to win. They tend to kind of
- 5:34Speaker 2: reverse it, and we'll have to see. But you know,
- 5:36Speaker 2: AJ's not the only one either that was echoing some frustration,
- 5:41Speaker 2: because Johan Dotson tweeted also something like something to the
- 5:46Speaker 2: effective offense shouldn't be this hard. So obviously the wide
- 5:50Speaker 2: receivers are are frustrated.
- 5:51Speaker 3: There's there's no question that they are.
- 5:54Speaker 2: And I'm sure everybody on the offense is a little
- 5:56Speaker 2: bit frustrated by their Jekyl and Hydak that's been going on.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know this goes you know, they're up
- 6:01Speaker 1: by eighteen in the game yesterday, and at that point
- 6:04Speaker 1: do the Eagles say, you got to score three touchdowns
- 6:08Speaker 1: against us. So we're just going to be ultra conservative.
- 6:10Speaker 1: We're not gonna do anything to give you the ball.
- 6:12Speaker 1: In other words, Tampa fumbled Philly scored a touchdown, Tampa
- 6:15Speaker 1: threw an interception, and Philly ended up punting the ball
- 6:18Speaker 1: down on the other end of the field and making
- 6:20Speaker 1: Tampa go back down the other end. So where they
- 6:22Speaker 1: just say, look, you're three scores behind us, we are
- 6:25Speaker 1: not taking any chances.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Ah, you know, I hope not. I mean, I can't imagine. Well,
- 6:32Speaker 2: all right, let's break that down. Yes, I do think
- 6:34Speaker 2: that having that kind of lead maybe taught them, should
- 6:38Speaker 2: teach them a lesson now that you stay aggressive. I
- 6:41Speaker 2: wanted them to stay aggressive, come out passing. They did pass,
- 6:44Speaker 2: but like you were saying they were, he was wildly
- 6:47Speaker 2: off the mark there. But if there's a lesson to
- 6:50Speaker 2: be learned and said, you got to keep your foot
- 6:52Speaker 2: on the pedal here, especially on the road against good teams,
- 6:56Speaker 2: and not let up and not think that you have
- 6:58Speaker 2: it and don't. You're still a working progress yourself offensively.
- 7:02Speaker 2: If you're the Eagles, right, you haven't played a complete
- 7:04Speaker 2: game offensively all year. So if you're up like two touchdowns, yeah,
- 7:09Speaker 2: and the fourth quarter, sure, but in the third quarter,
- 7:11Speaker 2: you still gotta get your passing game going. You still
- 7:14Speaker 2: gotta put your your pedal to the metal, so to speak.
- 7:17Speaker 2: You can't let up.
- 7:19Speaker 1: All right, Jeff Boscher Football at four for the Inside
- 7:21Speaker 1: of the Birds podcast. So I don't I mean, some
- 7:27Speaker 1: people are talking about how frustrating this offense is. Similar
- 7:31Speaker 1: conversations last year, right, and then they had the Carolina game?
- 7:34Speaker 1: What's wrong with the offense passing the next week? Is
- 7:37Speaker 1: that what you all wanted to see? Do we think
- 7:42Speaker 1: that this offense has similar issues to last year? Do
- 7:44Speaker 1: they even have issues?
- 7:46Speaker 3: Mike?
- 7:48Speaker 2: I hate to make this sound so like repetitive the
- 7:51Speaker 2: conversations that we have, but can you tell me I
- 7:55Speaker 2: don't know anytime in the last three four years that
- 7:58Speaker 2: the offense hasn't gone through this kind of haven't we
- 8:01Speaker 2: had this conversation pretty much all the time, Like I know,
- 8:05Speaker 2: I even remember saying to you last week that you
- 8:07Speaker 2: hit it on the head when you tell people that
- 8:09Speaker 2: the last thing they remember is what they remember the most,
- 8:12Speaker 2: and the Super Bowl happens to be going into this
- 8:15Speaker 2: year the last thing people remember.
- 8:16Speaker 3: But this is what the offenses look like. The only
- 8:19Speaker 3: thing that's missing.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Okay is that The next question, Okay, that's a big thing,
- 8:24Speaker 1: But the next question is then how long can you
- 8:27Speaker 1: sustain this without the Browns and then the other guy saying, Okay,
- 8:32Speaker 1: enough enough, I want mine.
- 8:36Speaker 3: I don't know. I think it's a really good question.
- 8:38Speaker 1: So is that what they're fighting here? Okay, you're winning,
- 8:42Speaker 1: you've won twenty out of twenty one, you're winning every game,
- 8:45Speaker 1: but your guys are saying I want more.
- 8:49Speaker 3: That is not the nature of guys. I mean, usually
- 8:51Speaker 3: guys just want to win.
- 8:53Speaker 2: And even AJ Brown has just talked about wanting to win,
- 8:56Speaker 2: but he wants to contribute. I can't imagine that we're
- 8:59Speaker 2: gonna go fo or five more straight games where AJ
- 9:02Speaker 2: Brown's a non factor.
- 9:03Speaker 3: But I got to admit I didn't.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Think we would be four weeks into the season without
- 9:07Speaker 2: Sakuon Barkley having a big run. It's tough because the
- 9:13Speaker 2: first half was so good, man, he was fifteen to sixteen.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Everything was working well, and we're really just talking about
- 9:18Speaker 2: eight throws in the second half.
- 9:20Speaker 3: I just looked at those three straight throws to.
- 9:22Speaker 2: AJ Brown while I was talking to you on NFL,
- 9:24Speaker 2: and honestly, there was nothing disguised.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Just two throws were just overthrows.
- 9:28Speaker 2: I mean it was open, and they weren't the biggest
- 9:30Speaker 2: overthrows but they were overthrows. So you know, I have
- 9:35Speaker 2: a feeling that they're gonna play a game in the
- 9:37Speaker 2: next two or three weeks and aj Brown's gonna get
- 9:39Speaker 2: a lot of touches and score a touchdown and things
- 9:41Speaker 2: will be good for at least a few weeks until
- 9:44Speaker 2: it's not. I'm as curious as everybody else, Mike God,
- 9:47Speaker 2: but I can't get past the fact that if.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Won twenty of twenty one.
- 9:51Speaker 2: I wrote this as my first observation after the win yesterday.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Is that we can be very nitpicky on certain things,
- 9:57Speaker 3: or even justifiably concerned some things. But I know for
- 10:02Speaker 3: a lot of Eagles fans what their.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Parents and grandparents used to tell them about what it's
- 10:05Speaker 2: like being an Eagles fan and all the heartbreaking losses
- 10:08Speaker 2: and all the letdowns. And this team has won twenty
- 10:11Speaker 2: of the last twenty one games. I mean, that's that's
- 10:14Speaker 2: almost equivalent to what the Dolphins did and you know
- 10:17Speaker 2: before I was born, right, and what the Patriots nearly did.
- 10:21Speaker 2: I mean, they won that many, they just didn't finish
- 10:23Speaker 2: it off with a super Bowl. But the Eagles are
- 10:24Speaker 2: coming off a super Bowl, so in some regard, I think,
- 10:28Speaker 2: you know, those people who are really furious have to
- 10:31Speaker 2: kind of take a step back and realize they're watching
- 10:33Speaker 2: the greatest football the Eagles have played ever in their lifetime.
- 10:36Speaker 1: How much does that twenty twenty three collapse enter into
- 10:40Speaker 1: this conversation, do you think?
- 10:42Speaker 3: Yeah, so I've been listening to your show today. I
- 10:44Speaker 3: know you and Pete and others.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I'm talking about it and a lot of people are,
- 10:47Speaker 2: and I think that there's got to be in middle
- 10:49Speaker 2: ground there. I mean, I think it's perfectly acceptable and
- 10:53Speaker 2: valid to say if you look at this Eagles defense
- 10:57Speaker 2: compared to that Eagles defense and what was going on
- 11:00Speaker 2: and the instibility.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Yeah, the defense is definitely a different is a different
- 11:03Speaker 1: thing here, and.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Then the overall talent is better. There's just no question
- 11:07Speaker 2: about it. And this is a tough schedule they're in
- 11:10Speaker 2: the middle of and you know they're four and oh,
- 11:12Speaker 2: I mean, I guess what I'm saying is the other
- 11:15Speaker 2: way to look at it is maybe they're not.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Going to win the Super Bowl this year. We'll see.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I don't know, but I don't see them losing six
- 11:21Speaker 2: out of seven games.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Do you as bad as things have been?
- 11:27Speaker 1: I said earlier, Look, you went to Kansas City and won.
- 11:30Speaker 1: And look that by the way, they won at Kansas
- 11:32Speaker 1: City in twenty twenty three as well, and they went
- 11:34Speaker 1: to Buffalo and one before it fell a part, you
- 11:37Speaker 1: went to Tampa, a place you've really struggled and won
- 11:41Speaker 1: that game. You beat the Rams here. I mean those
- 11:44Speaker 1: are three teams that all are playoff quality opponents. I mean,
- 11:49Speaker 1: Dallas is in the division, it's opening night, there's a
- 11:52Speaker 1: lot of emotion, and you find a way to win
- 11:54Speaker 1: that game. So they have four pretty impressive wins so
- 11:58Speaker 1: far to start this year off. But they had impressive
- 12:01Speaker 1: wins in that twenty twenty three year and it was
- 12:03Speaker 1: like they're finding ways to win. The good teams find
- 12:05Speaker 1: ways to win it no matter what it takes. And
- 12:07Speaker 1: a Ceedee Lamb drops that pass and Kelsey drops a pass,
- 12:10Speaker 1: and you needed a block field goal this week you
- 12:12Speaker 1: got a block pun At what point does that run out?
- 12:16Speaker 1: And your offense has to carry you And I guess
- 12:18Speaker 1: people are wondering if the offense is going to be
- 12:20Speaker 1: there when they need it. And last year, Jalen says,
- 12:22Speaker 1: is that what you all wanted to see? It was
- 12:24Speaker 1: there when they needed it.
- 12:26Speaker 3: It was Now does that happen every year. I don't know,
- 12:29Speaker 3: but I mean, you go look at the Ravens. They
- 12:31Speaker 3: were my number one team going into this year. I
- 12:32Speaker 3: thought they were.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Gonna be the best team, and they have real, real issues.
- 12:36Speaker 2: They can't win and finish these games. In fact, they're
- 12:39Speaker 2: blowing leads left and right, and then they go and
- 12:41Speaker 2: lose to a Kansas City team that they just gave
- 12:43Speaker 2: life back to the Chiefs.
- 12:45Speaker 3: You look at the Bills. The Bills are four.
- 12:47Speaker 2: And oh the only other team that's four and oh right.
- 12:49Speaker 2: They gave up twenty one points to a Dolphins team
- 12:51Speaker 2: that's bad, and they give up forty points to the Ravens.
- 12:54Speaker 2: So as dominant as they are, I'm sure somebody in
- 12:57Speaker 2: their building, I'm sure their most critical fans are like,
- 13:00Speaker 2: how are you giving up forty points? You know in
- 13:02Speaker 2: the season opener at home? How are you giving up
- 13:05Speaker 2: twenty one to the Dolphins? There's They're pass rush isn't great.
- 13:09Speaker 2: So you can nitpick about even the You always can
- 13:12Speaker 2: nitpick about the best teams. And I hate using the
- 13:14Speaker 2: word nitpick because that makes it sound like I'm minimizing
- 13:16Speaker 2: the complaints.
- 13:17Speaker 3: The complaints are real here, you know, the Eagles have
- 13:19Speaker 3: no running game right now, and that's not good.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Their pass rush from the edges has not been great,
- 13:24Speaker 2: but they seem to have a good response for the
- 13:27Speaker 2: issues that they're having, whereas when they went into the
- 13:29Speaker 2: tailspin they had no answers.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Well, we'll see.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yeah, as long as the team doesn't get hit by
- 13:36Speaker 2: a rash of injuries, then I think they'll be okay.
- 13:39Speaker 1: All right, Moshes back on Wednesday, will dive deeper into it.
- 13:41Speaker 1: We'll get more on that, of course, and Football at
- 13:44Speaker 1: four powered by the Inside the Birds podcast. Jeff Mosher
- 13:47Speaker 1: has his observations at Phillyvoice dot Com at Jeff P.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Mosher and right here Football at four on the Sports
- 13:55Speaker 1: Bash at the Fanatics Sports Book. All right, most thanks man,
- 13:58Speaker 1: take care of Mike Ye.
