  at professions. It's been a Bittersweet week for

  me, but I think I'm going to switch things around hopefully

  because part 1 of that is understanding professions.

  And in order to do that we have a special guest this week, Miss

  So, tell us a little bit about yourself.

  Wow, since Beta. And basically from day one I

  have been making gold. Whether intentionally or not,

  I'm just drawn to making gold. I have been a gatherer forever
• 2:06
  and it's still my favorite thing to do.

  Although I'm a little bit, I have Diversified a bit but love,
• 2:12
  love love making gold in. Wow, it's my purpose for
• 2:15
  playing. Wow.
• 2:16
  And I've also been streaming, I guess a total of close to six
• 2:20
  years but the last four of them have been exclusively on Twitch
• 2:24
  and I love sharing my goal making tips tricks and Yours
• 2:30
  with the community. Yeah.

  And honestly I think that's how I came across your ear.

  You it was your Twitch Channel. It was BFA and I wanted to get
• 2:41
  myself a long boy. So obviously, the best way to
• 2:46
  learn is to look at somebody who's doing it, right?

  And then learn from them. And your stream is wonderful

  because it's so approachable and it is Like you make it look easy
• 2:59
  but you do it in a way that is you make it look seem easy for

  everyone. It's not that like, you're like,
• 3:08
  oh, you know, I just snap my fingers twice.

  And then it happens, you're like, well, this is the steps
• 3:13
  and this is what you do and sometimes it works and sometimes
• 3:15
  it won't. And so it was Like yeah, it's
• 3:21
  just approachable. It's it's something that I was
• 3:25
  able to turn around and make like five million gold, which
• 3:27
  is, I mean, like I did a good amount of gold back in Pandaria,
• 3:34
  but that was a, but that was just because I had an absorbent
• 3:38
  amount of time to to turn things around for like the jeweled tie,
• 3:44
  a jeweled Panthers, and that sort of stuff.
• 3:47
  But as you said you've Diversified and you Have done
• 3:51
  gold making in so many different ways.
• 3:52
  So can you tell us a little bit about how you got into gold
• 3:55
  making basically? So I when I started playing, wow
• 4:01
  I was you know, doing to Guild and 40 ban raids and there's a
• 4:06
  lot of lot of stuff you need for writing still do and certainly
• 4:11
  did back then and a lot of my guild mates.
• 4:14
  Couldn't, you know, would come up, would show up to raid with,
• 4:18
  you know, stuff not and chanted. Said no consumables.
• 4:22
  And and I just happen to like picking flowers and Mining and
• 4:28
  fishing. I don't know why I like doing
• 4:30
  those things are just very relaxing for me.
• 4:32
  Kind of mindless easy things to do.
• 4:36
  So I started to, you know, start sending materials to my guild
• 4:41
  mates so they could make everything they needed for raid
• 4:45
  and anything that was left over. I started selling it on the
• 4:48
  auction house and it's Why it's addicting.
• 4:52
  Once you start making gold, you just want to keep making more.
• 4:56
  And eventually, when blizzard allowed you to, by game time
• 5:00
  with WOW, gold through the token, even more incentive to
• 5:05
  keep making gold so that I could play quote-unquote for free and
• 5:11
  it just snowballs and the more gold you have, the more gold you
• 5:14
  want and whilst keeps giving me interesting.
• 5:20
  Aunt and I keep wanting to go out and do it some more before,
• 5:24
  dragonflight what was like, the most interesting gold-making
• 5:28
  challenges that you've done. So, so BFA was certainly be if I
• 5:34
  was where I was when I really Diversified outside of just
• 5:37
  doing some minimal crafting for myself or guildmates.
• 5:41
  I didn't really put my crafts on the auction house, I was a
• 5:44
  strict gather, the materials and and sell to sell flowers and or
• 5:50
  Or bars or, you know, fish skinning materials on straight
• 5:55
  on the option house. No, no, crafting at all.
• 5:58
  But there was this beautiful creature called the Brutus, or
• 6:01
  that I wanted. And I realized that if I wanted
• 6:06
  to get that sooner, rather than later, I didn't have enough
• 6:09
  hours in the day to gather, so learning how to be efficient at
• 6:18
  crafting, With the limited amount of time I had to play.
• 6:25
  Certainly was a challenge and it was a lot of fun too.
• 6:28
  And that Scrapper is your was, was your best friend.
• 6:31
  I would put myself at the Scrapper and go.
• 6:33
  Go put a load of laundry in wash some dishes and then come back
• 6:39
  and start a go at scrapping again.
• 6:42
  And and eventually, not only did I get myself over to soar, I
• 6:45
  gave a Buddhist or a way to my viewers and I Gave a couple very
• 6:51
  close friends enough money for Roberta's or because they are
• 6:54
  dear friends and I wanted to show them how much I love them.
• 6:58
  So it worked out really, really well.

  Go getting into crafty like Mass, crafting really worked
• 7:04
  out. Well, that is amazing.
• 7:06
  Like it was a goal on this show. The, the hunt for the brutal
• 7:12
  sword, like, how much money you're making and could I make
• 7:14
  it in time? There was stairs, has remember
• 7:16
  back, then the fact that you gave away multiple Brutus.

  Hours after make, it yourself is wow.

  Wow. Yeah, I personally, I saw what
• 7:28
  Manny was doing back back in those days and completely, and
• 7:33
  totally impressed by the prospect of obtaining a Brutus
• 7:36
  or, but I was just like, no, that's no.

  I'm at the bottom of this mountain.

  I have like a couple couple of like tens of thousands of gold
• 7:45
  if that at any given point, there's no way that I'm making
• 7:48
  that climb. Never not.

  Couldn't pay me money to do that.

  I mean that literally when you're paying for your sub with

  gold, yes you can pay money to do that.

  Fair enough, fair enough. Yeah, well I guess at this point

  we okay, I feel like you're underselling yourself because I

  recall watching when you said okay I'm going to start on a

  fresh server and go for gold cat and you You put that challenge

  out to yourself and how long did it take you?

  Um, that's a really good, I honestly don't remember, but

  it's fun. That's fun to do is to start
• 8:32
  fights. It's a little bit.

  I feel like it's a little bit like it was a challenge when you
• 8:37
  pick a server because you know, each servers economy was
• 8:40
  completely encapsulated. So you kind of, if you didn't do
• 8:44
  the right research you you might call on a dead server or It had
• 8:50
  way too many people, so there was so that was that was a fun
• 8:54
  adventure. And also its you forget how much
• 8:58
  of a struggle it is to come into the game with a zero gold at
• 9:01
  all. I'm used to spending a little
• 9:03
  bit of pocket, money to an ALT couple bags but it's been a
• 9:08
  while. It's been a while since I've
• 9:10
  ever since I've done is I've gone to do something like that?
• 9:12
  There's just no time anymore. Now it's a little different.

  I feel like it's it wouldn't I don't know if it would feel as
• 9:17
  meaningful. Now that the original auction
• 9:19
  house you could kind of You're going to make that gold, no
• 9:21
  matter where you go, unless you're unless you're crafting,
• 9:23
  maybe some equipment pieces, but that's honestly, that's not
• 9:26
  really the like you're not doing that from the start.

  When you start on a new server anyway.

  So, I don't know if it's as much of a quote-unquote challenge

  anymore when your auction house, for the most part looks just
• 9:39
  like the auction house on any other server, but maybe that's
• 9:43
  something to try. Maybe, you know, once
• 9:46
  dragonflight calms down Try it again and see and see you know
• 9:54
  see what it feels like now. There's a regional auction
• 9:56
  house. Yeah, yeah.

  So basically you were walking in with zero gold into a server

  that had the ability to do it. You weren't working to a dead
• 10:06
  server. I'm starting from zero to Gold

  cap. You completed Within a
• 10:13
  reasonable time frame. We're not talking years here.

  We're talking about no weird of months months months.

  Yeah, I think it was three or four months.

  months. Yeah, maybe.

  But like, what's the gold cap right now?

  you're saying it's only easier now.

  So you know, I'm running out of excuses for myself to be at such

  a low round of gold. But that's why we brought you on

  here because we want to try and make sense of dragonflights, new
• 10:55
  professions the auction house, that's going wild right now.

  Crafting orders in everything that's been happening.
• 11:01
  And so we have a number of questions for you and you know
• 11:04
  I've been I've been hogging all the time lived you want to start
• 11:07
  with our first question. Yeah.
• 11:09
  So how have Gathering professions been going?
• 11:12
  So I know for me personally like my first characters I have to
• 11:15
  level 7. He's now my first character
• 11:18
  through is my invoker and I just picked up skinning and Mining
• 11:21
  and just grabbed everything that I could find on along the way
• 11:25
  and I made a decent chunk of change through that.
• 11:27
  But how is like Gathering specifically going in
• 11:33
  dragonflay? Like how what have you noticed?
• 11:36
  So Gathering is a great way to make go.
• 11:39
  It has been and it continues to be a great way to make gold.
• 11:42
  Also, for if you're Mining and picking flowers, you're getting
• 11:46
  experience when you do that too. Which is always lovely.
• 11:50
  You think I was going to do this anyway.
• 11:51
  So but I have noticed that you so I have I have a dual
• 11:57
  gatherer. I have a character with the
• 11:59
  mining and then I have two other characters that have that have
• 12:02
  herbalism. And one of those also has
• 12:04
  skinning not a one of them has used the same. same
• 12:09
  specialization sort of purposefully because I'm kind of
• 12:12
  like Curious just I was curious to see how certain things played
• 12:16
  out You can definitely expect to get more materials out of each
• 12:22
  node, you can spec to get more Elemental items out of each
• 12:27
  node. So depending on what you might
• 12:29
  need, either for your other crafts.
• 12:33
  Or if you're just going to sell everything right on the auction
• 12:36
  house, you, it's nice to be able to pick what what you want to
• 12:43
  specialize in, so that maybe I want more.
• 12:45
  Maybe I want to go to a node and get like 12.
• 12:47
  Pieces of, or rather than, like two or I notice that more with
• 12:52
  flowers. I'm like one of my characters,
• 12:53
  it's like two flowers, the other one gets sixth like you're both
• 12:57
  maxed out. You both have the same amount of
• 12:59
  knowledge points, but obviously someone made a better choice
• 13:02
  than somebody else. I have noticed that there have
• 13:05
  been a lot of different ways that you can specialize.
• 13:08
  Especially with all the Gathering, there is a path to be
• 13:12
  able to interact with nodes, while still on your dragon
• 13:16
  instead of dismounting. Oh yes, I am of mixed feelings
• 13:19
  about this. One of the things that I kind of
• 13:22
  did in my spare time to make gold was getting or from
• 13:25
  Pandaria, so that I could spell a off.
• 13:27
  Shredders that obviously, isn't a thing in dragon fight.
• 13:30
  But are there particular paths or specializations that you
• 13:34
  think are more profitable when Gathering than others?
• 13:37
  I definitely. So I think that going the route
• 13:39
  that gets you to fly or to be able to gather while mounted is
• 13:46
  not necessary. If the right option, if you want
• 13:49
  to make the most gold, I do have my minor, so a minor and my, and
• 13:55
  one of my herbalist did choose that path because I'm lazy.
• 13:58
  And I wanted to just be able to, you know, quick swoop down, grab
• 14:04
  something and leave, but I'm definitely not getting as much
• 14:09
  or or herbs as I am on my duel gather who has chosen not to go
• 14:14
  that path and has specialized in In, I believe it's the process.
• 14:19
  The the processing. Spec.
• 14:25
  And rather than which, our own, I guess that processing is the
• 14:29
  one that lets you fly. I guess it's metal.
• 14:32
  I guess it's Metallurgy. Is the 14 remaining.
• 14:36
  Yeah, picking the one. That's not that one.
• 14:39
  Then not getting you to mine. Wall mounted or flowers.
• 14:43
  All mounted. I'm pretty sure that one is the
• 14:44
  thing that Grant you more items. So it's a trade-off.

  You have to pick what you want. Yeah, well, along the same line
• 14:51
  with is that You're doing these Gathering professions, you can
• 14:56
  cap with some of them before you even see much in the way of any
• 15:00
  kind of knowledge, Professional Knowledge to go into
• 15:03
  specializations. I noticed when I was leveling
• 15:07
  with Joss, she hit 100 in skinning.
• 15:10
  And I was like, wait, how in the world am I supposed to get
• 15:13
  specialization points? So, it seems to be different for
• 15:17
  different Gathering professions for skinny in particular.
• 15:21
  It wasn't until she was killing. Like rares and particular mobs,
• 15:25
  that she was then getting dropped.
• 15:27
  That would give her specialization for mining.
• 15:30
  I was getting them just randomly.
• 15:31
  As I was mining, are there particular Gathering professions
• 15:35
  that are harder to go deeper into the tree than others?
• 15:39
  I absolutely agree that skin type.
• 15:41
  That's, that's not a unique experience.
• 15:43
  You had with skinning. That is exactly, you get to 100.
• 15:45
  So, I think the first like, skinning Quest, has you go and
• 15:48
  like, get some some salamander or whatever their name, it's a
• 15:52
  salamander. Get some scales from him.
• 15:55
  And before I was finished, the quest, I was 100 in skinning and
• 16:00
  I don't think I had picked up one bit of one item.
• 16:03
  That would increase my knowledge.
• 16:06
  Again, it wasn't until I know, I don't know and I haven't been to
• 16:08
  figure out because with with Mining and herbalism, it didn't
• 16:13
  matter what. Level my character was, it
• 16:15
  didn't matter really, what level my skill was?
• 16:18
  I was randomly getting. Those four chunks or what, you
• 16:25
  know that I adore, the flower petal that would increase my
• 16:28
  knowledge. Skinning it didn't really to be
• 16:31
  honest I didn't notice an uptick until I was 70 on my scanner and
• 16:38
  and like you said like killing not as like I haven't killed a
• 16:40
  whole lot of rares but killing more, I more mobs at 70 seem to
• 16:47
  get me those or maybe or maybe a hot fixed it people.

  Yes, Pizza Hut. Because I certainly, I certainly
• 16:55
  there was a there was a point where I wasn't saying anything
• 16:57
  and then I started to see it but still, I don't believe it's
• 17:00
  quite as frequent at least not in my experience, not as
• 17:03
  frequent as when I get in from mining or from from herbalism at
• 17:08
  all. Interesting, interesting.

  So kind of pivoting from from Gathering.

  How, what's your experience been with crafting?

  Is I know for me and from anecdotally, from what I've
• 17:20
  heard, Other people talking about professionist, everything
• 17:24
  like it's pretty easy. Going up to a certain point and
• 17:28
  then you just hit a wall. Is that is that the case for you
• 17:32
  have you found like easy ways to get around that?
• 17:36
  What's been your experience? Yeah, I've hit that wall to.
• 17:39
  I have a jewel crafter. I have a tailor.
• 17:44
  I have an alchemist ascribe and an enchanter.
• 17:50
  Not one of them is 100 yet my Jewel.
• 17:53
  Crafter is the closest and she I've got her open right now.
• 17:58
  She is at 86 and part of it is is there's a cop.
• 18:07
  I think there's a combination of things one, what the recipes you
• 18:09
  can get from your trainer take you up to 50 great you know
• 18:13
  might you're going to need to spend some gold or do some
• 18:15
  hunting to get the materials you need, right?
• 18:17
  No, big deal. Then you come to a section One
• 18:20
  of recipes you need renowned for and you need to make sure that
• 18:24
  you pay attention to which which faction has your recipes.
• 18:29
  Each faction I believe has to has recipes for to generally two
• 18:36
  crafts. Maybe it's maybe it's more than
• 18:37
  that but definitely like I know that jewelcrafting comes from
• 18:41
  the tusks are people and the driving plate Expedition.
• 18:46
  So need to raise my rep with the two of those before I can unlock
• 18:50
  some more recipes. So that's one problem is making
• 18:52
  sure that you're you're moving forward in your Renown in the
• 18:58
  right places and then also a lot of your recipes that give you
• 19:04
  good skill ups are for b0p items.
• 19:08
  So unless you just want to make a bunch of random stuff for
• 19:11
  yourself, you're going to need to use crafting orders and also
• 19:15
  some of those, I Items that give you the scallops like,
• 19:18
  particularly for my jewelcrafting, right now.
• 19:20
  All of the items that give me scallops require a spear or a
• 19:23
  spark of Ingenuity to make. So I most I could make two of
• 19:26
  them for myself. You need to rely on Crafting
• 19:31
  orders. and speaking of crafting orders something that I've
• 19:35
  noticed as well in my experience is every time that I've gone to
• 19:41
  try and make crafting orders, they are very sparse and that I
• 19:50
  kind of I kind of wanted to probably jumping a little bit
• 19:54
  ahead in the questions here with this one but but I in order to
• 20:01
  to complete the the Khloe like do five crafts, your crafting
• 20:08
  order specifically Quest. I've had to go on and ALT and
• 20:12
  send myself like personal crafting.
• 20:17
  Crafting her quests, in order to get that fulfilled on on my main
• 20:23
  just because every every time I go and try and see if there's
• 20:27
  any crafting orders, there's just nothing.
• 20:30
  Nothing, they're not in general. And so I'm having to kind of
• 20:35
  like do that myself, is that is that normal?
• 20:39
  Is that something that everybody is experiencing like what, what
• 20:42
  is going on there? I think for certain professions
• 20:45
  it's definitely more. Who than others like my dual
• 20:48
  crafter struggles, to get to get recipes out and for a while,
• 20:53
  people were posting work orders for items that do not yet exist.
• 20:57
  For example, the elemental area, it, it does.
• 20:59
  Now it exists. Now we came in with a, the
• 21:02
  Primal storms, but for the first two weeks that often, that would
• 21:07
  be, the only thing that was there was a work order for, was
• 21:10
  this Elemental area at that could not be crafted because the
• 21:12
  recipe wasn't available yet. On my scribe, people finally
• 21:20
  figured out that those draconic treatises which give you one
• 21:24
  knowledge point every week. Those are you got to you got to
• 21:27
  work order those if you want them.
• 21:29
  And finally, people realize that and then and my scribe has been
• 21:33
  flooded every almost. Every time I go to the the
• 21:37
  crafting table, there are a number of tree disorders, but
• 21:42
  also, I think that a lot of the items that people will end End
• 21:47
  up using work orders for are these gear upgrades particularly
• 21:53
  for things like for blacksmiths for Taylor's dual Crafters as
• 22:00
  well. These are either more limited.
• 22:08
  Ability if you pick one item right now.
• 22:10
  Well, now, you can get a second one because it's the second.
• 22:14
  I think the second week of Sparks or maybe, you know, you
• 22:17
  couldn't get a spark, the fire. I don't even get a spark the
• 22:18
  first week. Maybe you could, I think we're
• 22:20
  still at to, I think everybody's at to.
• 22:22
  Yeah, we're too. Because it was one with, for the
• 22:25
  intro and now that we've hit season 1, now, you're getting 10
• 22:28
  to make. So, a lot of the things that
• 22:32
  people are are getting for that. The real perp I think that You
• 22:38
  know, the bigger purpose for work orders is to get these b0p
• 22:41
  these great b0p items, it's just now opening up.
• 22:46
  Like that's that's that's what it is.
• 22:51
  You know, and I think when blizzard actually looks like
• 22:53
  lizard recognize that because they did send a hotfix that has
• 22:57
  reduced the number of items you need to craft for each.

  None of them are at five anymore.

  They reduced a handful of professions 23, work orders and
• 23:06
  professions like, jewelcrafting are now down to two to complete
• 23:09
  that Weekly Quest so wonderful. So I think wizard blizzard has
• 23:14
  recognized that, you know what, maybe maybe five was a lot.
• 23:19
  Although like for my scribe had no problem getting five over the
• 23:21
  Course of a week like zero trouble, but my door after I can
• 23:27
  I do. I'm really not sure how I
• 23:30
  managed to get five last week. I don't think I didn't go and do
• 23:34
  any alt but I think finally I'd like I took you know five Golds
• 23:38
  tip commission items. You know like if I can craft it
• 23:43
  I bought a recipe that people had been about a recipe off the
• 23:46
  auction house because that was the only way I felt that I was
• 23:49
  going to be able to get those completed.
• 23:52
  Which was not ideal because the vote of course a bit more more
• 23:54
  gold than I wanted to spend, but the way that I've been doing it
• 23:57
  for my tailors just like, oh well, I have, I have like an
• 24:01
  army of alts and they're all going to need bags eventually,
• 24:04
  right? So let I'm just going to put in
• 24:05
  work orders, but that's only going to take me through the
• 24:08
  amount of alts that I have that are at level 60 and can use
• 24:12
  those bags. So I'm just kind of like, okay,
• 24:14
  I don't, I don't this isn't sustainable, I think that, I
• 24:18
  mean, so there's I do appreciate the blizzard, put in some quests
• 24:21
  that kind of Explain what the crafting orders and what
• 24:25
  re-crafting do. But I feel like I feel like we
• 24:30
  need to put like a big neon light billboard like flashing in
• 24:35
  front of every player and say, oh my goodness will please.
• 24:39
  Do you understand? You can't find these items
• 24:41
  somewhere else. I mean I don't I don't spend a
• 24:46
  lot of time in trade chat because it's It's a crazy mess.
• 24:52
  But you often see people asking questions about work, like, why
• 24:55
  can't I buy this off the auction house and someone will explain
• 24:57
  to them. You need to put in a work order
• 24:59
  for it and they're like what do you mean?
• 25:01
  Did you not do those quests that where they totally explain
• 25:04
  exactly how this works? So there's still I think there's
• 25:06
  still a learning curve for the average player who was used to
• 25:10
  just going to the auction house searching for whatever they
• 25:14
  needed a bag. For example like you know, a
• 25:18
  higher Yeah, higher-end bag and just buying it right off the
• 25:21
  auction house. I'm not putting in a work order
• 25:22
  for it or realizing that sometimes you can get stuff for
• 25:24
  a better cheaper price if you put in a work or even with a
• 25:28
  decent commission, you can often, for example, Expedition
• 25:31
  shovels you can buy Expedition, shovels off the auction house
• 25:34
  there. The dragon scale Expedition rep
• 25:39
  item that lets you dig up Treasures, you can buy those off
• 25:43
  the auction house. They are completely available on
• 25:46
  the auction house. You can also work order them And
• 25:49
