- 2:17you now, there will be soon. Republican strategist Greg Thomas is going to
- 2:21join us a little bit later on in the show. We got lots to
- 2:23talk about. I want to get his take on the whole deal with the
- 2:27with the Attorney General's race. We've talked about it, I think every day
- 2:30since happened. But we had our state auditor, Jabe mccusky, who opted
- 2:35out of the governor's race to run for AG. We're gonna get to Greg's
- 2:38opinion on that, plus some other things going on as well. But I
- 2:42want to welcome into the show Glenn Yeager, a good friend from Valley Outdoors.
- 2:46How are you, sir, Hey, Dave, thanks for having us
- 2:49in. This is great We've talked to you on the phone before, but
- 2:52to be in studio is much better to see you face, is it?
- 2:53Well, I don't know about that. Is it everything you thought it would
- 2:57be? This wonderful studio? It's nice. It's nice for nineteen I don't
- 3:00know what more you want from for nineteen sixty one. It's pretty nice.
- 3:05So well, we got upgrades coming. Ryan tells me we have upgrades coming.
- 3:07We're gonna put cameras and everything in here. So I can't I can't
- 3:10wait till till that happens, he said, tongue in cheek. Um,
- 3:15I want to talk about of course, you place Valley out Doors. You
- 3:17get to be anniversary sale going on this week. It actually, I guess
- 3:21starts today, doesn't it. It doesn't starts today. We are we're trying
- 3:25to be very cognizant of the fact that it's it's tough out there, man,
- 3:29it's tough out there right now, and people aren't able to spend the
- 3:31money that they were in the last couple of years because the government's not handed
- 3:35out you know, there's there's not those incentives and whatnot. So what we're
- 3:38the one is we're just giving back We're saying, look, if you come
- 3:40down, you can buy any Sig Sour, any Smith and Wesson firearm in
- 3:46our inventory in the building for our absolute dealer cost. If you put that
- 3:51with a already established manufacturer mail in rebate, you can buy those things cheaper
- 3:57than I can. There, you go, good lord, It's time to
- 3:59get down there. And then on Saturday we try to we have a little
- 4:01customer appreciation event, have everybody down, have fireside grill out of Tay's Valley.
- 4:05They cater it um. It's a it's a nice event. You all
- 4:09have to come down check us out. We do a full blown midget wrestling
- 4:13with the ring, the whole bit. Man, it's we don't spare any
- 4:16any brain cells on this one. That's one way to put it. Now,
- 4:21I want to talk about what you had to go through to get this
- 4:24place opened, because I remember, I think that's when you were on the
- 4:27show with me a couple of years as it was uh and you were trying
- 4:29to to get it open. Talk about the process of opening. One would
- 4:31think that it's America. One would think, you know, as long as
- 4:35I'm not you know, doing anything illegal, I should be able to open
- 4:39up a business. It sells legal products. But that wasn't your case.
- 4:41Talk about them. I'll tell you what, Dave. You know, the
- 4:43fact of the matter is Putnam County came out and made national news as being
- 4:46the first county in the country to become a sanctuary county for Second Amendment.
- 4:53Um. So that that's why all the things that went on there was quite
- 4:57quite a shock to us. I wanted to explain for the people the number
- 5:00what exactly did go on. What exactly went on was we we had a
- 5:04we were told to proceed with the building of an already existing structure to remodel
- 5:09by the counting engineer. Now this is off Mount Vernon Road. This is
- 5:12where right now, and it's actually in my front yard, Dave, Yeah,
- 5:15I can't get away from it. Literally literally yeah. Yeah. Built
- 5:18the biggest guns store in three states in my front yard. Literally. Yeah.
- 5:23Anyway, So, um, we perceived it along told to bring our
- 5:28when we were done, to bring our finalized plans, and they would write
- 5:30up the sign permit, you know, and the and the new occupants to
- 5:34permit. But in the interim that man was fired. Now I want you
- 5:39to understand the people in that office, the Planning Commission Office. They are
- 5:44honest. Um. They they heard him give me the okay, but they
- 5:48also had concerns, so that being their job, I assume, and they
- 5:56called us out for things that we had no idea. They basically tried to
- 5:59hang me a three million dollars already invested, no one having it. Couldn't.
- 6:01I mean, I had to be done. So you know, we
- 6:03ended up having to go to court, but the courts saw it the right
- 6:08way. And by the grace of Guy, we're open. And I tell
- 6:10you, Dave, Um, we've got We've got plans. Man. I'm
- 6:13actually looking at building a whole new shop next year and putting a fourteen lane
- 6:17indoor range. Stated in the art, we're gonna have a destination location in
- 6:21Tay's Valley. It's something that we can use, something that's safe, and
- 6:25something that something to be proud of. And I think it's already a destination.
- 6:29And again we're talking with Glenna Yeager of Valley Outdoors because and I think
- 6:32I told you the story. Around the Memorial Day holiday we had my wife's
- 6:36family came in from North Carolina and her sister and her husband and her husbands
- 6:40a big outdoors guy, and I took him over to your place and he
- 6:43was absolutely blown away Glynn, because he said, you know, I live
- 6:46in North Carolina, in a rural area of North Carolina, but not far
- 6:48from uh from from Charlotte, and in areas like that. He said,
- 6:51we have nothing like this down here, and he said, we have absolutely
- 6:56nothing. But Dave, to be honest with you, I think, um,
- 6:58you'll find that nobody has anything because they're not crazy, which may or
- 7:02may not be I got. I was an insurance for twenty four years.
- 7:05I really didn't know exactly what I was doing, and I may not have
- 7:09done all the homework quite necessarily, but we've learned. The tuition has been
- 7:12a little high, but we do. We keep five point two million dollars
- 7:14with inventory, and if we don't have it, you don't need it.
- 7:17Yeah, And what exactly are you going to find when you come into your
- 7:20store? I mean, in our store, you're going to you're gonna find
- 7:24something for everyone. But we have the hard to get things. We have
- 7:27those microtech knives that I think there's two retailers in the entire states that has
- 7:31We carry bench made knives, just quality products and literally every fireharm manufacturer that
- 7:38you can think of. We keep in style. Yeah, and the anniversary
- 7:41still be a great time to go check it out because it starts today and
- 7:44runs through Saturday, all day Saturday with great food and so on and so
- 7:47forth. There's one more thing, Dave I was wanting to mention for us
- 7:50for this event. We also do we sell electric bikes to Quiet Cat and
- 7:55if anyone knows anything about electric bikes, those are top of the line.
- 7:59However, there a bit cost prohibitive. I didn't really realize this until we've
- 8:01got fifteen thousand dollars of them, and then like thirty four bikes. It's
- 8:05like, oh lord, So what we're doing this weekend in order to let
- 8:09everybody have a shot at it. We're selling raffle tickets to one of these
- 8:13the best, the best, completely decked out. I'm talking cell phone holders.
- 8:18There's even a utility card. These bikes will go up to sixty miles
- 8:20on one batary, self contained motors so that you can't get sand and water
- 8:26and these types of things in it. But we're gonna give everybody a chance.
- 8:28So it's twenty dollars per ticket come down, or six tickets for one
- 8:31hundred and we're gonna give that thing away Saturday evening at the customer appreciation event.
- 8:37All right, good stuff. I talk to Glennieager again for Valley Outdoors.
- 8:39I want to move away from business just for a moment. We get
- 8:41back to it. You know, Glenn, between your ads here and your
- 8:45television commercials, obviously you're you're a pretty interesting guy, much more than just
- 8:48an outdoors store. An outdoors guy you have occasionally and I don't want to
- 8:54put words in your mouth, but we kind of talked about this at the
- 8:56top of the Seven. Glenn, you butted heads from time to time with
- 8:58some of the establishment of Putnam County. Well when you sometimes, Dave,
- 9:03I think you find that when when you try to do things that you think's
- 9:07right, sooner or later you're gonna step on somebody's toes because ultimately, um,
- 9:13a lot of these people in government, whether it be it looks like
- 9:16it's the county level or at the national level, they seem to be in
- 9:18there for a other purpose than serving the people. And I serve our county.
- 9:26I serve on a board that has absolutely no power. We try to
- 9:28hear customer, not customer. Uh. We try to hear um from the
- 9:33public. Places from the public, we try to hear when they're it's it's
- 9:37the Putnam County Planning commission Board. But really what we're up there for,
- 9:41I think, is to get tomat us though to us so the commissioners don't
- 9:43have to or they get less up though to them later. But the people
- 9:48that are on the board with me are incredibly smart people. There's lawyers,
- 9:52there's bankers, there's financial investors, and there's there's there's your letting your neighbor
- 9:58next door. They're just a whole walk of life. It's on this board
- 10:01and really a lot of a lot of thought goes into what we do,
- 10:05and it means pretty much nothing because they can take they can take our recommendation,
- 10:11or they can or they cannot. It's it's it's there. It's the
- 10:13commissioner's show. But I'll tell you, Dave, that the thing that needs
- 10:16to happen not just in Putnam County, because I've I've found some things that
- 10:22just made me shake my head to think, you know, I thought we
- 10:24were a little more progressive than this, or a lot more. But there's
- 10:28some things I think that that people can take away at any stage of government.
- 10:33And that's that you are there for the people. You're You're not there
- 10:35to serve special interest and to do the type things. And if you do
- 10:39what's write first, the rest of the stuff will fall in line. No
- 10:43one seems to be willing to work together. No one seems to be willing
- 10:48to come down to the middle. I mean, I don't care. If
- 10:50we don't work together day, we're never going to move anything forward. It's
- 10:54been sad, Glenn that you may consider running for office at some point.
- 11:00I've heard, I've heard possibly county commissioner. You know, they have to
- 11:05be honest with you. Have enough to do in my life. I have
- 11:07twin fifteen year old little girls that believe you me. They're they're they're a
- 11:11handful. I have a new business. Um, but I'll tell you if
- 11:16if it's what it takes to get something straightened out, we'll explore it.
- 11:20Hopefully, Hopefully we won't have to. Hopefully we can just get some get
- 11:24some things done and get some people in line to where it's not such a
- 11:28oh not such, it's not controlled by special interest. Squdge budge. Okay,
- 11:35what is it, Glenn that drives you and I've said this is somebody
- 11:37about you. The other day I said, you would be a passionate guy
- 11:39if you worked at the car lot or you worked at McDonald's. You're just
- 11:41a fiery guy. What is it the drives Glenn Egg, Well, I
- 11:46think it's my family. You know, I didn't grow up. My mom
- 11:50and dad didn't raise any Indians, you know what I mean. It was
- 11:52kind of from the beginning. Um, I was raised the work, and
- 11:56that work was it was something my uncle's, my grandfather, was something everybody
- 12:01did. And you were kind of my family. You were kind of judge
- 12:03based upon your ability to perform, you know, So you fall into that
- 12:07pattern. Um, I've had to teach myself other things. But Dave Wood
- 12:11drives me is to just is just to try to get it right. I
- 12:13don't like to I don't like to half budd anything just and I don't like
- 12:16losing. I don't care if it's you know, I don't want you,
- 12:20but I don't like it. We're gonna play Jackson or whatever it is.
- 12:22Until you're gonna win. You're gonna win. Well, I don't know about
- 12:28winning, but we sure try to give it a try. Man. It's
- 12:30but at the same time. At the same time, winning is great,
- 12:33but you can't do it by stepping on other people. You've been there.
- 12:37Yeah, well, you gotta get an impressive facility there in Tay's Valley.
- 12:39And again you just take the Tay's Valley exit to exit to thirty nine.
- 12:43Just take a Mount Hurting Road. It's not hard to find. Right behind
- 12:46the Burger King. Yeah, you gotta go around to wal Rings something.
- 12:48Yeah. Yeah, yeah, for some reason, I don't know exactly why
- 12:50that is. I used to live in that area, and they've got it.
- 12:52I mean, I guess they can do they can do whatever they want.
- 12:58But but you kind of kind of go kind of you said when you
- 13:01take the Tank's Valley, actually go up to Walgreens and it's just a straight
- 13:03shot from there and you can't miss it out Again, the anniversary sale is
- 13:05going to be going on starts today. What time you close tonight? Tonight
- 13:09we'll close at seven. We're gonna be opening ten to seven Friday, and
- 13:15then Saturday we close We're ten to five because we have that customer appreciation event
- 13:18And what time does that You should also mention nation, Sorry I forgot my
- 13:22buddy here okay, Um, we also do live music at that event.
- 13:26And John Harrison I don't know if you know him, but him and his
- 13:28friends are incredible. Um, so they'll be live music at the event.
- 13:33We're gonna they'll be fun and had by all. Um, it's a good
- 13:37time. I mean, come out early because we close her down pretty early,
- 13:39because you know I'm old. Yeah, well, I'm right there with
- 13:43you. He's got free food, he's got music and micro wrestling. That's
- 13:48what it's called microstling. But let me tell you what. This is our
- 13:52second year having I can call whatever I want because I wrestled him last year.
- 13:54Oh yeah, you wrestled the little people, sir. I got beat
- 13:58up. Yeah, and it wasn't much of a match either, Dave.
- 14:01They got they got a bad guy, Glenn. How tall are you?
- 14:05I mean funds and I'll tend them on. You down? And you got
- 14:09taken down by by little people? Well a little bit. I mean,
- 14:11I mean I got hitten by I mean I got hit by a chair.
- 14:13But what nearly as bad as what happened to my poor buddy Russ that works
- 14:16on the allright, tell the story. Go ahead, Hey, you just
- 14:18need to get on Facebook and look at it. I can't I can't really

- 18:56will quote Della getting State Democratic Party Chair Mike Pushkin on this. When he
- 18:59was on the show yesterday, he said, State Auditor JB. Mccuski has
- 19:03entered the transfer portal, the governor's transferred portal. He'd served honorably as state
- 19:07auditor. Mucho respect really from both sides of the aisle. I mean the
- 19:11Demostrats, I mean they all think everybody he's done a great job. But
- 19:15he announced some time ago he was not going to go for reelection to state
- 19:21auditor, but was going to run for governor. Now fast forward to Monday,
- 19:22Greg when he announced he would not seek the Republican nomination for governor,
- 19:26but would instead run for attorney general, pitting him in a Republican primary against
- 19:32a couple of state senators and Mike Stewart and Ryan Weld. Weld, of

- 20:04Uh, he's raised what five six hundred thousand dollars for his campaign.
- 20:10That's now, you know, just transfers h into the attorney general's race.
- 20:15Um, I'm sure you know. Look, he's gonna have three times as
- 20:18much money as them, he's gonna have three times a better name ID,
- 20:22and he's a likable guy. Um, you know, one of the other.
- 20:26And look, I'm friends with all three of these guys. Um,
- 20:30I think they all three would do a good job. They're different though,
- 20:34for sure. I think uh, you know, I think on the if
- 20:38you would just look at sort of the policy spectrum, Uh, Stuart's on
- 20:45the far right, uh mccusky sort of center right, and Weld is more
- 20:51of a moderate. Um, so look, these guys start calling him both
- 20:53moderates. Yeah, Stuarts has a lot of stuff. Um, you know
- 21:00he does. I mean, you know, I mean, I mean from
- 21:02Stewart's perspective, he probably looks at it and says, well, I'm you
- 21:03know, I'm more conservative than you j B. And JB probably looks at
- 21:07it and says, well, I'm more conservative, you know, and and
- 21:08so look at a three way primary. I tend to think that in West
- 21:14Virginia we're a center right state, though right, I mean, especially in
- 21:18a general election, we'd be more center right. You know, A lower
- 21:22turnout primary, you know, kind of probably helps the most conservative candidate.
- 21:30But there are so many Republican primaries that are going to be contested on the
- 21:36ballot this year. I think we're gonna have the highest turnout ever, you
- 21:40know, So I think, you know, so, I think if you're
- 21:42you know, you know, I think it's illegal to bet on races in
- 21:47West Virginia. But if it we're legal to bet on racis in West Virginia,
- 21:51I think mccusky would be the odds favorite at this. See here's the
- 21:55thing about Mike Stewart. Mike Stewart still got that Trump thing. He was
- 21:56the head of the Trump campaign in twenty sixteen for US Attorney m and he
- 22:02went in and he knocked off Ron Stallings in that district. And you know,
- 22:06Ron it runs a very good friend of mine. Um I found it.
- 22:11I mean a lot of people didn't give Mike Stewart a chance in that
- 22:12race, and he went down and he cleaned I mean, for all due
- 22:15respect, he cleaned Ron Silience Clock, somebody who had been there for a
- 22:19while, that was well liked by both sides of the not the most liberal
- 22:22guy in the world, now Stewart tried to paint him, is that Uh,
- 22:26and but he you know, he wasn't. He was the most liberal
- 22:29guy in the world. But but you know, kudos, Mike Stewart did
- 22:30a great job in that race. Look, the reality is, all three
- 22:33of these guys have pretty good resumes. I mean, you know, Stewart
- 22:37had you know, Stewart's been a long time uh you know, corporate lawyer.
- 22:42U he has, was a former state party chair, he was a
- 22:48former US attorney. Um. You know, I was the consultant on the
- 22:52Trump campaign here and actually got Stewart, you know, helped Stewart become the
- 22:56co chair of that campaign. I mean, so you know, look,
- 22:59I've been friends or story years, twenty years. Um, you know,
- 23:03he's he will work hard at this. Uh, he is the most conservative.
- 23:07He'll be aggressive. Um. I think it, you know, I
- 23:11think my perspective on it just as of today, right, I mean you
- 23:14look at this and say, okay, as of today, you know,
- 23:18and here we are not a year out, but what nine months or ten
- 23:22months or whatever it is now, Um, you know out you still got
- 23:26to go run a campaign. Yeah right, He's still gonna run a caampaign,
- 23:29and you know, so he'll be aggressive. Um. You know what.
- 23:32Look man, well, you know, well's been in the state Senate
- 23:33a while. He's he's in Senate leadership. Uh, he was in line
- 23:37to become the Senate Judiciary chair. Uh, he opted to get out and
- 23:42make a run statewide. Um. You know, he's got a good resume.
- 23:48He was a he was a prosecutor up in Brook County. Um.
- 23:51And JB was you know, also a corporate attorney who served in the House
- 23:55of Delegates and then served you know, did a great job as the auditors.
- 23:57I mean, I look, this is one of those things that up
- 24:00to this point Republicans have not had much of a bench right new ground,
- 24:07and so now all of a sudden, you know, you've you legitimately have
- 24:11three qualified people for attorney general. And I think each one of them would
- 24:17do a good job. I least think the Republican primary voters are going to
- 24:21have to go out and say, Okay, what do I want my attorney
- 24:23general to do? And I think that you know that that'll be the case
- 24:27that these guys each have to make. You know, I just think that
- 24:33you know, the things that you look at when you first start out a
- 24:37campaign, right is what kind of resources are going to be able to put
- 24:40together? And what's your starting name? I d those are two things that
- 24:42mccusky has this an advantage today. I want to talk for a moment and
- 24:48we kind of go back and forth with Greg talking about national stuff and local
- 24:52stuff, but on a national front, Greg, the majority of Americans,
- 24:56and it's been proven in several polls, don't want Joe Biden to be the
- 25:00president. They don't want to and a majority uh don't want Donald Trump to
- 25:04run either, So across the board, regardless of party, Greg, they
- 25:10want other people. But barring some unforeseen miracle from God above, those two
- 25:15are going to be the nominees. I think that is the case, and
- 25:21I think that's really the reason. And there's been you know, and you
- 25:25know, I've talked about this. We probably talked about this six months ago,
- 25:29and I was like, I don't know, if you know, I've
- 25:32been saying for a year, the Joe Mansion is not going to run for
- 25:34US Senate. Whenever he cast that vote against Build Back Better or well for
- 25:40the revamped Build Back Better, which they end up calling. You know,
- 25:42we started calling it the Green New Deal, they called it the Inflation Reduction
- 25:48Act. When he cast that vote, that to me was the clear signal
- 25:52he wasn't running again for US Senate in West Virginia, which I which I
- 25:56one hundred percent still stand by and totally believe. Um. At first,
- 26:02it was like, you know, there were rumors about this no label party
- 26:06run and all that stuff. Uh, I think he's doing this. Um,
- 26:10I know people that he has talked to. I think Joe Manchin's gonna
- 26:14run for president. Okay, I think he's gonna run for president on this
- 26:17no Labels ticket. Um. I'm not looking. I'm not gonna support him,
- 26:22but I think he should do it. Um. I think he should
- 26:25do it. And for a couple of different reasons. One, you know,
- 26:27on our side, you know, we we've on the Republican side,
- 26:32we've Trump was the disruptor, right like Trump was the one that came in
- 26:34and was like, hey, this direction you all are going and the stuff
- 26:38that you're doing, Um, you know this is the wrong direction. I'm
- 26:44gonna here's what, you know, I think the party should be more populist.
- 26:47I don't want to you know, want to focus on America first stuff,
- 26:49right, you know, uh, domestic over foreign policy kind of you
- 26:55know perspective. Um. And that's what that's what Trump was. Within the
- 27:00Democratic Party, they have not had a disruptor, right, And they're set
- 27:04up differently though, Right. They stick together more than Republicans do. I
- 27:07mean just by nature. Right, it's sort of the you know, sort
- 27:11of socialist sort of concept, you know what I mean, Like they just
- 27:14do right, that's the thing. It's like, we're going to stick together,
- 27:15you know, the unions, the trial lawyers, the you know liberal
- 27:19groups, the enviros, they all find a way to kind of keep everybody
- 27:22on the on the same page. Um. So it's harder to have a
- 27:26disruptor come in. And that's sort of where Joe Manchin comes into play here,
- 27:30right, I mean they you know, and and look he voted for
- 27:33their Inflation Reduction Act and they just screwed him on it right, I mean,
- 27:37everything he wanted in that bill, they lie and he feels that way.
- 27:41He should feel that way because they either duped him or lied to him
- 27:47or both. Um. And so he's upset about it. He should be
- 27:51upset about it. UM. And I look, I don't know if that's
- 27:53the reason he's running. I'm sure in the you know, somewhere in the
- 27:56back of his head it is. UM. But I would just say,
- 28:00kind of as you started off this conversation, right, it's there's there's just
- 28:04a majority of people that don't want either of these other two guys, and
- 28:08so that creates this opportunity. UM. No, Look, I don't think
- 28:11that. I don't think the country is in a position in a state right
- 28:15now to have a third party actually win. But I do think we're in
- 28:19a situation where third we're all where other parties can get significant amount of votes.
- 28:26Um. So who does it help? I don't know. You know,
- 28:27I should because I've seen both sides, and I've seen people that do
- 28:30what you do for a living say it's absolutely is going to assure that Donald
- 28:33Trump is going to be the next president. But I've also seen people that
- 28:37said, Okay, this is gonna help Biben. I think I think it's
- 28:38it'll be a state by state basis, right, I mean it's you know
- 28:41that you know, we don't elect we don't elect it on popular vote.
- 28:45You know we do we do it. You know, we have the electoral
- 28:48College. We do it on a state by state basis. So you'd have
- 28:51to go in and look at that. Um. I tend to think it
- 28:53probably helps Trump, but you know, I just don't know. Um.
- 29:00And also, you know, if you look at the kind of person Joe
- 29:03Mansion is, he likes campaign right. A lot of these politicians they don't
- 29:07like it. You know, it's all I got. He loves it.
- 29:11Mansion is a people person and anything that gets him out and gets him get
- 29:15Some politicians run from it like a fire. But Mansion if anything that gets
- 29:19him out and talking to people and shaking hands, he loves it. He
- 29:22likes meeting people. Um. He loves attention, right, he loves attention.
- 29:27He loves doing those interviews. And I mean, what what gets you
- 29:30more attention than running for president under states? Like nothing? So he loves
- 29:33attention. He likes people. Um. You know, he's good at you
- 29:37know, and guess what Man, when you run for president like that,
- 29:40and man, they're flying you around in a private jet and you're showing up
- 29:44at hotels and giving speeches and going to fundraisers and having events. I mean,
- 29:48it's it's probably pretty fun, right. So, like, if you're
- 29:52it's gonna be your that's gonna be your swan song, you know, because
- 29:55he's not gonna win. I mean, there's there's no way the way he
- 29:57wins. But if that's gonna be your your your final actor in two minute
- 30:02warning in the fourth quarter, it's not a bad way to go out.
- 30:03That's that's the way I run. If he does run against Justice, and
- 30:08Justice gets by a Mooney, which everybody thinks he will in the primary,
- 30:12I say he loses handily to Jim Justice. What say you, I Mooney
- 30:18beat him handily too. You think that, Yeah, there's no way,
- 30:21it's just that's over. I mean even for Joe it's over. Um,
- 30:25there's just no you know, we're we're a Republican state. It would take
- 30:30us nominating somebody really really bad that made a lot of mistakes and had some
- 30:33sort of fatal flaw. Um. You know, look, I mean obviously
- 30:37right now, Justice is ahead in those polls. I think, Look,
- 30:41I think short of a Trump endorsement for Justice, that race will get closer.
- 30:45I mean, I think that'll be I think by the end of the
- 30:48year that's a competitive race because he had a lot of ground to make up.
- 30:52But I'm also if you heard the show yesterday, I had Rob Corneili
- 30:56gets on the show yesterday and Rob was talking about he said, there's gonna
- 30:57be a lot more things coming out against Jim Justice. Justice has never had
- 31:03somebody really take the hide off of him, right, I mean, it's
- 31:06never had a campaign that. I mean, He's had a couple of shots
- 31:08taken at him, but nothing that really was a sustained sort of effort.
- 31:14Uh. There's a lot of resources out there behind Mooney with this um what's
- 31:18the Club for growth? Yes, and stuff like that. Like look,
- 31:22so I I think you I think they can make this a competitive race and
- 31:26then on I don't know, Justice would have to mess up, I think,
- 31:30you know what I mean, Like I think Mooney. Um, you
- 31:33know the thing about Mooney is he votes right right like he you know I
- 31:37talked before about like the center right position of West Virginia. Mooney is aligned
- 31:42with Republican primary voters on policy ninety nine percent of the time, where Justice
- 31:48is a little more establishment Republican on that stuff. So, you know,
- 31:52but look, Justice has ridiculously high name I dum, you know, and
- 31:56and things have gone very well in the state, you know, with all
- 32:00the you know, legislative priorities and policies that have been enacted, and things
- 32:04are going well in West Virginia. And Justice has been the beneficiary of that.
- 32:07And he does a good job of staying out in front, right,
- 32:09I mean, he does a good job of getting the attention and doing the
- 32:12stuff. Um. So I look, I think, you know, I
- 32:15do think that race will be competitive, but either of them would beat Mansion.
- 32:19But he's not gonna run anyway. All Right, we gotta take a
- 32:21break. We'll leave it down. I want to no, no, I
- 32:22actually I want to ask you one question before we go to break. Is
- 32:25there any path forward as far as president goes for anybody other than Donald Trump?
- 32:30I mean de Santis. I read an article this morning that they say
- 32:32that they say that Tim Scott is gaining ground. De Santis would probably be
- 32:36the only one that would come. I don't I don't think De Santis.
- 32:39Now, I think it'd be more likely to be Tim Scott or somebody than
- 32:43to sain Us at this point. I mean, you know, like you
- 32:45it's one thing to like gradually sort of increase your stuff, which is what
- 32:49he was doing. But once you start going down, yeah you don't.
- 32:52It's it is. Yeah, there's no you don't. There's like a bounce
- 32:57back. Okay, all right, we gotta take a break. You gotta
- 32:59aagine that Greg Thomas is here, and we got a ton of texts to

- 35:58his run for governor, how would I get that back? Since I support
- 36:00another candidate for AG You don't I know, I think you can't know.
- 36:04Well, I don't think you legally can, but I bet if you just
- 36:06called him an asked you all right, I will give you this fine up.
- 36:08And I'm kid know. I've been in situations like that though before.
- 36:12I mean I've I've worked with campaigns where somebody had switched and they you know,
- 36:17essentially sent out a note or something that said, hey, you know,
- 36:21I'm planning on doing this if you you know. Yeah, I think
- 36:23if somebody is in that feels like they're in that situation, I think they're
- 36:28I think that they're fine to call. All I can do is say no,
- 36:30tech says ask Greg Thomas. If loring of inflation from nine point one
- 36:35percent in August of twenty twenty two when the Inflation Reduction Act to three percent
- 36:38as of June twenty twenty three, is in fact a reduction. Has this
- 36:45person been to the grocery store? Like, do you have any idea how
- 36:50much stuff costs? That's an outrageous thing to say. I mean, is
- 36:57it better than the worst ever? I guess, but like that's just an
- 37:01outrageous thing to say that. Like that, really that was the point of
- 37:06that was to to to reduce inflation. I mean it just like I really
- 37:14do think that if it were and look, I like Trump, I still
- 37:16like Trump. I'm going to vote for Trump. Um. I don't think
- 37:19Trump is our best chance to win the general election. Um, but I
- 37:23think if it were anybody but Trump, we would cruise through this election this
- 37:28general. Yeah, because because of the because of inflation, because it's just
- 37:30the cost and because of the everyday hurt it is put on people. Um
- 37:35No, look, I think Trump still may win, right. I just
- 37:37think you know a lot of you know, there's just you know, it's
- 37:40Trump, right, there's just all these other you know, emotions and you
- 37:44know, feelings and all that stuff. A couple of text and we do
- 37:46have a phone call to get to what does Greg think about Glitch McConnell.
- 37:52I'm glad this person brought it up because I actually have had like five conversations
- 37:57with people about this. Here's what I think about it. Um. I
- 38:00think it is incredibly sad that when some of these politicians get older. And
- 38:06I've said this about Biden before, uh, and I'll say about McConnell right
- 38:09now. Uh, this is the situation where family members should step up.
- 38:15It's time. But there's but but now there's so much like, let me
- 38:21think of how much power Joe Biden has, how much power Mitch McConnell has,
- 38:24how much benefit there is to all the people around him, family,
- 38:28friends, go, work, whatever, Like that's why they kind of just
- 38:31keep letting this go. Um. But I think it is incredibly sad.
- 38:37Uh. And I think that it diminishes their um, you know, like
- 38:42a legacy. And I said the same thing about Reagan's second term, and
- 38:45I think that's you know, uh, I was a little too young to
- 38:49say that, probably, but um, I mean I was there for it.
- 38:52I just wasn't able to comment on it. You must, and so
- 38:55not that much different. All right, we gotta, I gotta, let
- 38:59let me do this. Five. Any Live is brought to you by Husbands

- 39:14Tommy. Tommy, if you're listening, you want to call back, That
- 39:15is fine, Texas. Greg must have never heard the old saying Democrats fall
- 39:20in love, Republicans fall in line. I guess had flipped with Republicans cult
- 39:24like devotion to Trump. I hadn't really heard that before, and I just
- 39:30I don't I'm not saying that isn't true. So that hasn't been true somewhere
- 39:34but here from what I have seen, in West Virginia. It has been
- 39:37the exact opposite. It has been the Democrats found a way to stick together
- 39:39and the Republicans were the ones that always just kind of were splintered. And
- 39:45so I had not heard that. But look, I think you've got a
- 39:51point though on the cult liked thing for Trump. I look, I still
- 39:53like Trump right Like I like, as I said earlier when I was talking
- 39:58about Stuart being the co chair the camp Pain, I was a paid consultant,
- 40:00like I was the person that Trump campaign paid in West Virginia to organize
- 40:05that stuff back in twenty I started working with them at the end of twenty
- 40:08fifteen. I worked through twenty sixteen. I still like Trump. I will
- 40:13vote for Trump. I just don't think Trump is our best candidate, our
- 40:17candidate most likely to win the general election. Tech says greg The primary in
- 40:22West Virginia will be dominated by conservative voters. West Virginia is not a center
- 40:27right state unless former Democrat term Republicans are trying to paint the picture of West
- 40:30Virginia's political landscape. I mean, this person doesn't I guess you just don't
- 40:36understand what center right is. I mean, I you know, I'll use
- 40:39abortion as the issue to show you where West Virginians are right. So what
- 40:45we passed, you know, we passed the ban on abortion, and then
- 40:49there was a movement among the far right in the legislature to have no exceptions,
- 40:54right. So I would say that, you know, there's probably a
- 40:58moderate Republican view you right, where I don't know, you allow abortions up
- 41:01to so many weeks, right, So that's sort of the that's the moderate
- 41:06Republican view. The far right Republican view would be abortion with or no abortion
- 41:10with no exceptions. And the center right position would be ban abortion with exceptions.
- 41:16And that's what I mean by a center right state. I mean,
- 41:21it's not you know, I think you were. I mean, and I
- 41:22look, I've got tons of polling data to show this. You can tell
- 41:25by what the legislature does. Um, you know, West Virginia is truly
- 41:30a center right state. And even in the primary, and I get you
- 41:35know, if you had a really low turnout primary, the far right could
- 41:37have more influence. But with all these contested elections, I just I just
- 41:43don't see that being the case. I think it's I think it's I think
- 41:45the I think the candidate that the clear that runs the best campaign and clearly
- 41:50identifies themselves as center right is in the best position to win. All right,
- 41:52I think we got Tommy back. Tommy, you're on with Greg Thomas.
- 41:54Go ahead, Yes, thank you for the prior interruption, Yes,
- 41:57sir, go ahead. Mister Stewart has said that he would like to expand
- 42:05the role of AG to include more real criminal and law enforcement. How do
- 42:12you guys feel about that? Is that the critical issue in this particular race?
- 42:16And do you, mister Thomas, either a gentleman can tell you who's
- 42:22all going to be running for Secretary of State, auditor treasurer. I think
- 42:25Commissioner Leonhardt, who's the trying to find job in the farming, is the
- 42:30only guys seeking real action. I think right now he is. No.
- 42:34No, I think there's a guy I think, look, I look,
- 42:37I like Kent too, sir, um. But I know I think there's
- 42:39a guy who you may be ring before from like Huntington or Wayne count Cavill.
- 42:44I think he's like a form I think the guys from again that I
- 42:47know. I know the Secretary of State. You got delicate Chris Prett,
- 42:50that's running mister Reid Ken Reid. Putnam County Clerk Bryan Wood was one of
- 42:54the first people to announce auditor. I'm hearing some names don't out there.
- 42:59I know Deli, Caleb Hannah has announced he is going to run. Rob
- 43:04Cornelius is teasing it on the show yesterday. So we do have some other
- 43:07people out there. But come back to Tommy's question about the ag Yeah,
- 43:09absolutely, UM, look, I think it is unlikely that the legis I'll
- 43:15go ahead. I think it's a very good question, Tommy. Um,
- 43:21I think it's unlikely the legislature would expand the powers of Um. Of that,
- 43:27it kind of goes back to mcgrawl, right, I mean mcgrawl,
- 43:29Darryl mcgrawl always wanted this, but he was crazy and the Democrats like wouldn't
- 43:34let it happen. Um, I don't think. I don't think Morrissey ever
- 43:38made a real push for that. He may have mentioned it or something,
- 43:40but I don't think he ever made a real push for it. UM.
- 43:44Stewart obviously, having been a US attorney done that stuff, kind of threw
- 43:47it out there is like, well, I think we need to do this
- 43:50too. Um. I just don't think this legislature is not about expanding powers
- 43:54to state government. I don't see them doing that. Um, you know,
- 44:00I just I think it's something No, look, I do. I
- 44:02think Stuart's right about some of the things he brought up. We probably do
- 44:07need some stronger prosecutors. But I think the way to handle that is by
- 44:10electing better county prosecutors. And I'd like to get to some cant I don't
- 44:14know if we're going to get to everything I want to get to, but
- 44:15I got several more texts to get to. I wanted to bring it back
- 44:17to the county level as well. With Greg Toomas. Five eighty Live is

- 47:17to make sure people know about this. Greg. There's gonna be a public
- 47:20hearing tonight starting at six concerning needle exchanges in Charleston. Yes it's back again.
- 47:24Story posted on the WCHS network dot com website. This is about plans
- 47:31to possibly do a needle exchange program on the West Side now. This particular
- 47:36meeting will be held tonight at the Goodwill Prosperity Center Virginia's treat West, sponsored
- 47:39by the Women's Health Center of West Virginia. Our news department reached out to
- 47:44the Women's Health Center of West Virginia and they did not comment. The governor.
- 47:46Of course Greg last year's side to build that requires programs to get a
- 47:51state license and for the programs to operate on a one to one exchange system,
- 47:54or at least try to. So if you're against this, and many
- 47:58people are in, I mean the polling shows that that they're against it,
- 48:02show up tonight at the Goodwill Center on the West Side and tell them no.
- 48:08You know what, most people do that are against these liberal policies in
- 48:12the cities. As they move out of the cities. They have moved to
- 48:15Saint Albans, they have moved to Elkview, they have moved to South Charleston,
- 48:20they have moved to Putnam County, they have moved somewhere else. I
- 48:23think that I think that you're going to see a huge Republican year, probably
- 48:29the biggest Republican year for in Kanaw County in the last hundred years next year.
- 48:37And it's going to be I think one of the look, I think
- 48:39it's a little bit of this is just Knaw County catching up with the kind
- 48:44of the red wave of the rest of the state. Um, but I
- 48:46think a big factor is just that, you know, the city of Charleston
- 48:50has become this little mini San Francisco and it is so liberal and so left
- 48:55and so just out of control. And but that's what right, Like,
- 49:00you're talking about it on your show, and people read about it in the
- 49:02paper. Um. And I think that's one of the things that is sort
- 49:06of accelerating this move to the right for the rest of the county. Um.
- 49:09And I think you're going to see another Republican county commissioner. I think
- 49:14you're going to see a Republican prosecutor. And and and look, not just
- 49:17and not these fake Republicans either, you know what I mean, some of
- 49:21these people that are just switching parties. Um. You know, because I've
- 49:23had a lot of people bringing that up to me. Right It's like,
- 49:25hey, you know Tara Slango switched to Republican. Or you know this one
- 49:29prosecutor candidate, you know that the one that I don't know our name,
- 49:32but the one that announced, um not switzeror the other one, you know,
- 49:37a sort of a Silango plant type person or whatever. Um. You
- 49:40know, what we did in the state Senate last year was we had sort
- 49:44of like a a sort of survey system, like a you know, a
- 49:47questionnaire that you gave people that kind of that helped us. It helped it
- 49:52helped the State Senate weed out some of these fake Republicans that were literally just
- 49:57switching. And look, there's a lot of people that have switched parties,
- 50:00but they didn't switch, you know, they actually switched their policy, you
- 50:06know what I mean, Like the pendulum has swung and they've come with it.
- 50:08The ones that have just switched and are still just Democrats. There's ways
- 50:13for us to weed that out. But I think that's really what's going to
- 50:15happen. And I think this, you know, need to exchange and stuff
- 50:17like that. That's the stuff that that's the stuff that's gonna be the five
- 50:22you know, fuel will on the fire. Here five of July presented apartment

- 51:00I disagree with both of those, especially the Obama Party. Go ahead.
- 51:04I don't. I don't. I guess I just don't. I mean,
- 51:05I can see what they're saying about the Obama disrupting thing. Um. I
- 51:10just think that like that he sort of was the disruptor. He beat Hillary,
- 51:15but then the entire party just became what they were, right, Like
- 51:17they just like it was like everybody in the Democratic Party at that point was
- 51:22like, yeah, you know what, we'll just go with that, you
- 51:23know, so they all sort of switched. I I see what you're saying
- 51:27about him being the disruptor, um, and I think I agree with that.
