- Nathan Hawthorne: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to a special episode of KYP. Now, ESPN has just announced their top 10 quarterbacks based off of the interview, and I want to make sure I get this correct with executives, coaches, and scouts ranking the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL. We've got the list right in front of us. We're going to tell you where they got it right and where they got it wrong. First look. Number one on the list, Josh Allen. I disagree. I disagree so firmly. Should we go through the top ten real quick just to to just to set the scene here? Let's rip the na All right. Jarod McInroy: Let's rip the names. Yep, rip the names. We got number one, number one Josh Allen, number two Patrick Mahomes, number three, Matt Stafford, number four, Joe Burrow, number five, Lamar Jackson, number six, Dak Prescott, number seven, Justin Herbert, number eight, Drake May, number nine, Jared Goff, number ten, Caleb Williams. Nathan Hawthorne: I mean where do we start? Jarod McInroy: I'm gonna just start with this. I I wanna be very clear. It's not that it's so baffling that Josh Allen's number one. It's not that crazy. But it's how is this one I understand he got injured. I understand he had an injury. Patrick Mahomes is the number one pla number one player in all of football. It's not ⁓ that's positionless. He is. He is I'm and I'm not even a big Patrick Mahomes guy. I'm not I don't root for him. I I couldn't care less if he continues to succeed or not. But just use your eyeballs. Look at statistics if you want. Look at Super Bowls won. Look at Super Bowls appeared in. Look at head to head matchup. Whatever category you want to look at. Patrick Mahomes is the best player in the NFL. So I I don't get it. He he is confidently number one and Josh Allen's confidently number two. It's fine. But why are we being different and quirky for no reason like ⁓ I got a different opinion than someone else? This should be great clickbait. We clicked on it, we're talking about it. You did your job, ESPN, but you failed. Nathan Hawthorne: You won. You won. ⁓ you know how I feel about Josh Allen and turnovers. I love him on my fantasy team, and I love him just as a quarterback in general. But until he cleans up those turnovers and those big moments, I have a tough time trusting him. I'll tell you this right now. Josh Allen has one of the best PR teams in all of football. Period. You know he's got his guys in there lobbying for Josh Allen to be number one. And again, it's hard to argue, right? You could make you could make a case for one A, one B. I'm not going to make that case. I could see other people doing it, but Patrick Mahomes to me and should be to the rest of the world is the number one quarterback in the NFL. I don't think that that should have ever been questioned, even if he came back from an ACL. He could have played on that broken ACL and still won a Super Bowl. I don't care. For four years on a busted set of ankles, and somehow we just forget about it and he just rips you to shred. So Pat Mahomes should be number one. Jarod McInroy: He's been hobbling around for four years now. He's Can I can I also say though, this this in no way is a dish diss to Doc Josh Allen. Like in any way, shape, or form, we are confidently saying you are better than Stafford, Burrow, and Lamar. That is those are incredible names. These are all time names. These are Hall of Famers that you are currently better than. No way is this a diss to you. It is just Mahomes is gonna finish his his career in the GOAT category. And maybe it's not solidified. Nathan Hawthorne: No. Jarod McInroy: we'll we'll see how the rest of his career plays out, but like he's gonna it's gonna be a conversation that's had. So like that's different. It's hard to compare yourself to that. Just enjoy it and yeah. Nathan Hawthorne: Absolutely. And well, actually while we're talking about it, will Josh Allen make it to the NFL Hall of Fame if he does not win a Super Bowl? Jarod McInroy: Mm, that one's tough. Nathan Hawthorne: He plays six say he plays six more years and just gets exhausted at the end of the sixth. Game hasn't changed, too many physical hits, he can't keep going, and he doesn't have a Super Bowl. Is he a Hall of Famer? Or is he just a Hall of Fame stat pattern? Jarod McInroy: I think Yeah, I don't want to say yes or no because the it's gonna come down to what his numbers look like and where he ranks all time. 'Cause if his stat I mean, Dan Marino's an all time quarterback, right? He never won the big game. ⁓ Nathan Hawthorne: He least played in it, though. Jarod McInroy: Yeah, that's true. But still but still. ⁓ I I I think he can certainly get in. It's it's gonna depend on where he finishes out and ⁓ just his totals, what those playoff runs look like if he returns to a couple more, you know, AFC championships. ⁓ I think he will be able to lean on the excuse of maybe not always having the best team around him to get it done. certainly not the best at Nathan Hawthorne: Josh Allen hasn't even been there. Jarod McInroy: coaching staff to get it done. ⁓ but ⁓ yeah, that's an interesting one. It's it's it's something I don't think I can fully answer confidently yet. I I would have to see how he how he stacks up numbers numbers wise. But it's incredibly possible. Yeah. Nathan Hawthorne: You wanna you you wanna golf with Josh Allen with Josh Allen, don't you? That's the only that's the only reason you'd answer that so politically. Yeah, can't have can't have a YouTube short out with me ripping Josh Allen. Yeah, ⁓ absolutely. Hey Josh, if you see this, let's go play. You name the location, we'll meet you out there, we'll play around to golf. You'll score better than we do, but we're gonna have a great time. I'll even buy your drinks. How about that? Matt Stafford at number three. Jarod McInroy: ⁓ so bad. I would tomorrow. No, I would tomorrow. He is a great golf game. Nathan Hawthorne: I'm hard to disagree with the way he's played the past couple of years. I think the big asterisk for him and for Joe Burrow, let's just get to number four is health. Are you gonna be out on the field and available for me? Jarod McInroy: Yeah, I think Lamar's injury made it so that they were able to put him at four over him. If Lamar would have played the entire last season, I think there was no way, shape or form they would have had any leg to stand on to put Joe Burrow above him. ⁓ I think they would have put him above Stafford if if they if they could. If Stafford somehow didn't, you know, have that great of a year last year or If the Rams didn't do as well as they did, I for whatever reason, and and I get it, I love Joe Burrow too. I think he's a great quarterback. I just I don't know, man. I th I think the league loves him even more than we do. And again, we continue to talk about the eye test. I think they see things like from their very specific football lens that even we don't even see with him and his abilities. So Nathan Hawthorne: Mm-hmm. Jarod McInroy: He's he's just he's gotta get healthy. He's got to. Nathan Hawthorne: He's got to get healthy. He's got to stay healthy. And he has to continue to put up the numbers when he is healthy. I don't think this year was looking particularly great for them in the first place, even when he was. And I love Jamar Chase. I love T. Higgins. You know, Chase Brown has started to ascend a little bit or become a more functional running back, not just a pass catcher. So I think there's a lot of things there. But yeah, Joe Burrow has to prove that he can stay healthy because your best ability is your availability. And if you're not healthy, it is really hard. Lamar Jackson The only person who can stop Lamar is Lamar at this stage of the game. He I in those big games, he wants to prove to everybody that he's this perfect, pristine, you know, Tom Brady type pocket passer. Just be the guy that you are. Be the unreal playmaker that you are. Yes, and win the game. Like that's what you see those guys ahead of you do. That's what you see Pat and Josh do. It doesn't matter how you get it done. It's that you get it done. And so I I I could make a case that he's probably at four. Jarod McInroy: Win the game. Nathan Hawthorne: ⁓ ahead of Joe Burrow. I could make a case that he's technically ahead at three, but Matt Stafford, again, because of the way he played last year and how he's looked in the big games, comparatively speaking, since getting to the Rams, ⁓ you can't put Lamar ahead of him at this current time. Jarod McInroy: And and Stafford's also played injured and still played good. Like those are it is. I'm gonna get you a plaque to go behind you, by the way, that has all your favorite sayings like it's a what for what have you done for me lately league? ⁓ the best ability is availability. But no, it's true. It's true. I but the five names in the top five they nailed. Can we at least agree on that? That those are the five. Nathan Hawthorne: He's a dog. It is. Yeah. The yards are forward? Yeah, I almost, yeah. Jarod McInroy: No, those are the five. Like that that's the five. W w who would be who were you taking out and who are you replacing them with? Nathan Hawthorne: Well th those are mostly the five. Those are mostly the five. Well let's let I just wanna I wanna see where you're gonna carry this conversation. But yeah, well for the s for the s for the sake of it, yeah, like let's see those are the five. Those are the five. Mostly the five. Absolutely. Jarod McInroy: Well, that takes me to Those are the five. Those are the th okay. Now six through ten is where they just had an absolute just they they they absolutely crapped themselves. They they need to change they need like they ruined it. This is terrible. I d I don't even know where to begin. I will start with one. Caleb Williams not being six is absurd. Him being all the way at ten is absurd even more absurd. Nathan Hawthorne: Just out thought the room. Jarod McInroy: I I I don't I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say. That's that's absurdity. Nathan Hawthorne: Okay, I need I need you to I need to pause here 'cause I need you to stand by this. I'm gonna make a statement and you're gonna say true or false. Caleb Williams Caleb Williams is the sixth best quarterback in the NFL. Jarod McInroy: Yes. I mean, yeah, ⁓ he's he's either six or seven. Nathan Hawthorne: Okay. Right right now. Hey, are you seeing this front are you seeing this from a lens of who I want on my team to build a a dynasty in next three to five years? Or are you like at this very current moment? Jarod McInroy: He's either six or seven. He's no lower than seven. No lower than seven. No, I'm saying this as this this very given moment, this current moment, if I'm if I'm out there right, we're in a we're in a dynasty draft, I got the sixth pick, and I have to just go win this year. Those five names are off the board because they went one through five. I'm taking Caleb Williams over anybody else. One thousand percent. I do like ⁓ I I said seven to give myself a little buffer room in case I'm missing someone, but I don't think I'm missing someone. It's it's him. He's six. Nathan Hawthorne: Okay. Okay. I don't think I don't think we're missing it. It's it's very clear that you've established him as the sixth best quarterback in the NFL. Jarod McInroy: Okay, now this is your gotcha moment, so who who am I who's your gotcha for me? Who's the sixth best? Nathan Hawthorne: I I don't I don't have necessarily a a gotcha. You know who the sixth best is. And you don't want to say his name, but you know who it is. Jarod McInroy: I I honestly have no idea who you could possibly be considering. Nathan Hawthorne: Yes. What do you mean you have no idea who I could be considering? No. It is Justin Herbert. Lord and protector of the realm. What are you talking about? Jarod McInroy: Dak? Yeah, d Dak's good. That's a that was the only name I was considering. ⁓ Nathan Hawthorne: And then you know who's seven? You know who's seven? Jarod McInroy: Who Nathan Hawthorne: Trevor Lawrence. I'm kidding. That one's out of pocket. But no, but Justin Herbert's easily number six. How was that? How was that? How was that absurd? Jarod McInroy: ⁓ That the first one was just as absurd. It's just as absurd. Dude, I can't go I can't go ten rounds with you. I can't do it. I can't keep doing this week in and week out with this Justin Herbert thing. Dude, you can't I don't I'm not I don't want to hear you. I don't want to listen to you until he does something. Until he does something. And is he in the top ten? Of course he is. I'm not a moron. He's a top ten quarterback. He is He's not the sixth best and currently I'm Nathan Hawthorne: Okay, so hold on, let's just Okay, so okay, let's be clear then. Who is your seventh best then? Jarod McInroy: Is he seven? Is he seven? Like I d I don't know if he's even seven. I'd have to think about it. Nathan Hawthorne: So you came to this with without a a prepared top ten. You were willing to go to sixth for Caleb Williams. Wow. Okay. Jarod McInroy: He's probably seven. He's probably seven. He's probably seven. Here's what I'll say. I the only reason I would or only person I would consider to put above him is probably Dak, but I have I can't do that in good faith because my gripes with him are the same gripes I have with Dak, and then it just comes back to raw talent and Justin Herbert has more raw talent than Dak. So I can't. He's seventh. I'm taking Caleb Williams over him for sure. Nathan Hawthorne: Okay. You can you can absolutely do that. Jarod McInroy: Forsher and I'm taking all of those five names above him, but no Herbert at seven is not egregious. ⁓ he's he's not six and he's no don't anyone put him in the top five even consider putting him in the top five. It's absurd. Nathan Hawthorne: I four years ago, it's crazy how he would have been considered top four. He was top three, top four. When he was Jarod McInroy: Yeah, everyone kept saying it. Nathan Hawthorne: With those healthy when he had a healthy wide receiving core, when he had Kellen Moore as his offensive coordinator, that was one of the best versions of Justin Herbert that we had seen. And then he imploded in that playoff game. The whole Chargers team did, and they blew that lead to Jacksonville. That was unbelievably shocking to see things go down that way. Or wait, hold on. Or was that game the other way around? Who was it that blew it? Was it Jacksonville? Jarod McInroy: No. Justin Herbert does not want a playoff game, so I can assure you that. Nathan Hawthorne: Okay, yeah. So it was it was the Chargers that just blew it in the second half. Anyways, there's a couple of guys though who and I think, you know, two, three years ago who we assumed would have been on this list without question. And some of those guys are some of those honorable mentions that we we've kind of talked about and thrown around. Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence, and Jalen Hurts. Three guys that a couple years ago you were like, ⁓ yeah, no brainer. These are top ten guys, maybe even top seven guys for the next however many years. You could even say a decade. But they just haven't really produced the way we expected. Some of it is coaching staff, some of it is, you know, injury, other is just it turns out that he's not the guy we thought he was. What do you think happened for those guys like Jordan Love, like Trevor Lawrence, like Jalen Hurts? Just more tape out on him? Jarod McInroy: Yeah, a hundred percent. I think and again it I it it's hard because the potential's still there for a few of ⁓ Like I feel like we haven't seen enough we've seen ton of Trevor Lawrence. This is where I'm falling into the trap too, 'cause I'm like, you want it for ⁓ you want to believe there's more there, but like Nathan Hawthorne: We haven't we haven't seen enough competency around Trevor Lawrence until last year. Until last year. And he looked great. Jarod McInroy: Exactly. That's where I'm giving him that's where I'm giving him grace. I want to see him in a different city. I wanna see him somewhere else. I just do. And I think we're nearing that point. And the hard the really hard thing in football is you finding a QB one is just few and far between. It's really hard to do and when you have one you stick to them as long as you possibly can. The if this was the NBA He would be gone already. They trade stars like it's nothing because they can quickly get another star. So this it's one of those situations where he needs a new scene, but he's probably not gonna get it. And he might be a Jacksonville lifer. ⁓ and they might just bleed him, bro. I mean, never say never. Stafford finally got got off the lines and we saw what he could do. So ⁓ Yeah. And then for the Jordan Love thing, I think this year just Nathan Hawthorne: He broke free. Jarod McInroy: parti in particular, ⁓ they had a really good team. They had a good ball club and they they looked terrible. He didn't look great in big moments. ⁓ Nathan Hawthorne: He damn near played a perfect playoff game and they still lost. I blame, I blame Jordan Love's lack of further development in terms of precision. Because sometimes he just makes some really dumb decisions. It's hard to coach that out of a guy that has his kind of arm talent. He's gonna take those risks. And but he's been a little knick-knack injuried with his groin and hamstring, just like the entire Green Bay roster has in his receiving core. But Matt LaFleur finds ways to. Jarod McInroy: Yeah. Mm-hmm. ⁓ huh. Nathan Hawthorne: lose games like I've never seen before. Whether it's the defense crumbling and your offense not protecting the defense, or whether the offense just forgets how to play in the second half and your mind is just blown, or it's too little, too late in the second half. There's there's something weird about that dynamic with Matt LaFleur in Green Bay. And I don't know what it is, but I don't think it's helping Jordan Love. Jarod McInroy: Yeah, for sure. ⁓ we'll see how he comes back this year. I think that's this this is a again, it we always we keep saying this too. It's a prove it year. But it is a prove it year. You have to go prove it. He's I think he's in a very similar situation to Justin Herbert but you have a shorter leash because you don't have that same talent. It's a different level of talent. Nathan Hawthorne: Every year is a prove it year because this is a what have you done for me lately league. You gotta prove it unless you're Pat. Jarod McInroy: Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ca can we talk about can we talk about eight and nine for a second? We'll start with eight, but Drake May. Like what what are we judging this list off of? Is what where I want to know where they where they went with this because if we're going based on like who are the ten best quarterbacks right now, and that's everything. That's competency. That's ⁓ experience. That's everything considered. And I say experience because that's why Matt Stafford's number three still. He is a year older now, so those are things you have to consider. They have thrown that out the window because they know he's competent, he has a good roster, and he's a good quarterback. Nathan Hawthorne: That's I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Jarod McInroy: Drake May looked terrible in the Super Bowl. He honestly didn't look that great in the playoffs in general. He had a defense that carried him, and he also played against some pretty bad teams. Am I missing something? Is he the eighth best quarterback? Nathan Hawthorne: You're not missing something. He is not the eighth eighth best quarterback in the league. Again, we all know that New England benefited from going on a generational run of playing against teams that were missing their starting quarterbacks, missing key players on defense, and really not standing a chance against a team that is very well coached. Is Drake May a bad quarterback? No, absolutely not. Does he have a chance to become a top ten quarterback in this league? Yeah, absolutely. He has the attributes to do so. He had thirty one touchdowns. He had eight picks last year. But he also took like two or not, I'm sorry, not 200. He took like 40 sacks last year. It was bad. It was it's next to the sack yardage loss. So I read the wrong number almost. But he took a lot of sacks. A lot of sacks. And you think, okay, so he took a lot of sacks, but he still put up numbers. Like, what do you think? Part of that, part of quarterbacking is not taking sacks. Part of quarterbacking is setting up your offensive line, which was young and flawed. Jarod McInroy: Do you wonder it would be crazy? Nathan Hawthorne: To give yourself the best opportunity to get away or to get rid of the football. ⁓ and again, that was against weak teams. So we put him up against a championship caliber schedule this year because of them being in the Super Bowl last year. We are I'm not sure how he's gonna look. I think that the Patriots as a whole, with all this outside outside noise in the offseason, are gonna take a regression. But yeah, Drake May isn't is not the eighth best quarterback in the NFL because nine is better than him. Jarod McInroy: No, and I think dude, and here's here's what I'm gonna say too. I don't wanna overhype Jared Goff because I do I see him as a completely flawed quarterback and it's hard for me to be convinced he can go w win the Super Bowl. I I think he can play well enough and do what Sam Darnold did last year where he's not gonna hurt you enough in which you can still win a Super Bowl, but I would much rather at this given moment put a name like him above somebody like Drake May. Like we're giving this guy way too much credit already. And I fear we're gonna continue to do that ⁓ and and just stop holding people accountable. Like we just gave Jordan Love all that crap just and s by the way, some people think Jordan Love should certainly be in the top ten. ⁓ and they they get him as high as seven six that I've seen on a lot of lists, which is absurd. Nathan Hawthorne: Absolutely. I could see him I could see him at nine at the highest. And that's thinking that's thinking of peak Jordan Love and having him be having him play that consistently. Jarod McInroy: That's highest. Right. But my appreciation for quarterbacks like Jared Goff, like ⁓ Baker Mayfield, like it grows so much higher in these moments when you're like just seeing maturity in an NFL quarterback is really it's something you can't teach. Like it's something that you have to go out and and develop. So I like Goff on the list, but mainly because I don't know who I would put into that top ten above him. is there a name ⁓ th are there names that you'd like to see in that top ten that that are not there? What Nathan Hawthorne: Man, I think Trevor Lawrence could be at that 10 spot. Again, if I'm bumping Drake May, I think Trevor Lawrence could slide in there. You know, Baker Mayfield any given night can play at that caliber, but I feel like he's he's like a he I'm trying to think of his golfer comparison right now. I just had a name. But he's just a streaky guy. Sometimes he's on, sometimes he's not. You're not quite sure, but he's got the energy that you love. It's hard not to put Super Bowl winning Sam Darnold somewhere near the top ten. Jarod McInroy: What do you got for me? Nathan Hawthorne: But we know you don't have to be the best quarterback to win the Super Bowl. ⁓ I I wanted to go back because you s you said something really important about not giving guys too much credit before it's time. Yet somehow Caleb Williams is sixth and Drake May can't possibly be in the top ten, which is strange. I don't disagree, but Caleb Williams, I think being at ten is just I think it I I think it's Jarod McInroy: Stop it. Because Caleb Williams is a better quarterback. What are we what are we doing? Nathan Hawthorne: But the sixth best in the league? I I just have to ask the question because what has he done that Drake May hasn't done? Jarod McInroy: Stop. Stop. Yes. Yes. Like comfortably. I hear you. I like y there's nothing I can say to you. Based on statistics, there's nothing I can say to you based on results of the team. I think he's in a he's in a better situation right at this given moment. with with having that run that they were able to to have. Again, when I talk about the playoffs, it is about who can go on a run. And that's what the Patriots did perfectly. They went on a run. They had the perfect path, they had the quarterback injuries, they had Nathan Hawthorne: Mm-hmm. Jarod McInroy: ⁓ an incredible defense. They had a head coach who wasn't distracted at the moment. ⁓ they had they had the perfect script for it to work out for them. And the Bears can certainly do that. They did not last year. They had a very competitive NFC. We saw a bunch of different teams flourish in the NFC last year. And I also think the core of his team is still young and growing with him. As well as the head coach is still young and growing with him. Vrabel's been around. Ben Johnson's been around kind of, but also at the same time, he's never seen power like this. And he also now has to answer a lot of questions that head coaches have to answer. And he has to be in control of that. And I think he's still growing into that part of being a head coach. He's not just out there calling plays. ⁓ so I'm giving him grace on that. I I can't pinpoint a stat to you. I cannot pinpoint A successful season to you. All I can tell you is I watch them both with my eyes, and Caleb Williams does things that Patrick Mahomes does. Caleb Williams does things that others cannot do. And I think given those big moments, we'll see what he does in them. But I think we saw those big moments for Drake May and he shit the bed. So that's all I got for you. Nathan Hawthorne: I'm not gonna disagree with you on his ability to playmake. Just sixth felt a little high. So my question is: based on this top ten, base ⁓ Jarod McInroy: Who are you putting above him? O outside of Justin Herbert. Who who would you put above him? Outside of Justin Herbert? Nathan Hawthorne: I would put just about Justin Herbert. Jarod McInroy: That's it? So he's seven for you? Nathan Hawthorne: ⁓ no, I actually have him at ten. I have Justin Herbert, then I have Deck Prescott, then I have Jared Goff, then I have Trevor Lawrence and Caleb Williams as a nine ten split in the current moment. But my question to you now is based on this list, what is more egregious? Dak Prescott being at six or Drake May at eight? Which one gets you more fired up? That how could you possibly do that? Jarod McInroy: Mm-hmm. I don't mind Dak at six. And I I don't agree that he's six, but like I can see why somebody would say that. He is a professional. He he has proven he can go get the job done in the regular season. Now he has to go do it in the postseason. I don't think these Cowboys teams have been that good also. I think that's a piece of this is they've always had a lot of very big clearly manipul Nathan Hawthorne: Okay. Jarod McInroy: Manipulable? No. What what what's the word I'm looking for? easy to easy to manipulate in terms of the schemes that they're throwing out there. The the holes that they have at corner, for example, that that they had last year, last couple years, honestly. ⁓ the fact that their ⁓ pass rush hasn't been as good as it had been in years prior. ⁓ their wide receiver Nathan Hawthorne: Malleable. Jarod McInroy: right receiving core not being very deep outside of this last year, yes he had pickings, but C D was out. So he's there's been always been holes in this Dallas team that has not allowed him to ⁓ flourish. So I still give him grace in that, ⁓ because he also still goes out and produces. So we'll see. ⁓ he's good. I'm not I'm I don't mind him at six. So I would say the the May at eight is it's too early. It's he has not done enough, in my opinion. Nathan Hawthorne: Okay. Okay. Jarod McInroy: I just I haven't seen it. Nathan Hawthorne: Okay. I can get behind that. And ⁓ I'm excited I'm excited to get him in the probably the seventh round of my fantasy football draft and have him put up crazy numbers. Anyways Jarod McInroy: I love Dak. He's gonna have a great year this year. MVP Dak this year. By the way, not a Cowboys fan at all. But I'll give love where love is given. Nathan Hawthorne: But draft but draft Brandon Aubrey in at least a second round. That man's 17 a game. That man's 17 a game. Actually, a guy in my fantasy football league, his name was Brandon Aubrey in the first. And he won the championship this year with Brandon Aubrey. So, you know, he gets it. But just adjacent to this top ten quarterback list, Madden dropped their ninety nine club like they do every year. Jarod McInroy: Sure. Maybe first. Bet he did. Nathan Hawthorne: With some interesting names, some we know should be there, some we're not entirely sure. So I'm gonna go over them real quick. These are all the guys who are 99 overall in the EA Madden sports football game. Miles Garrett, Josh Allen, Matt Stafford, Trey McBride, Jackson Smith and Jigba, and Jamar Chase. One of these is not like the other. And I I'm gonna let you tell me who that one is. Jarod McInroy: Dude, it and he's not that he's not that far off. Like you like you you made a good point. Like yes, in his position, like in the context of his position, it makes sense. ⁓ it's Trey McBride, it's he's the elephant in the shut up, bro. He yeah. Like he it's it's him. Like ⁓ it's weird also because I feel like we had so many tight end names that were like Nathan Hawthorne: Name drop ⁓ Who is it? You thought it was McBride? Yeah. Jarod McInroy: for the longest time. Like w it was a very tight end heavy league where we had the Kelseys, we had the Mark Andrews, we had, you know, the really big names. I feel like we don't have that right now. ⁓ like we have Brock Bowers who's ascending, but also on a really bad team, so it's hard to like, you know, buy into it. ⁓ we have McBride. Sure. Tyler Warren. ⁓ like there's there's a lot of names, but Nathan Hawthorne: Colson Loveland's coming up, McBride's coming up, Tyler Warren's coming up. Yeah, but the that old guard that old guard, yeah, just kind of got injured in old quick. Jarod McInroy: It's just it are we doing this because he's he might be the best at his position, or do we think he is amongst the best in football? Madden's always been kinda off in that sense, 'cause I'm like, ninety nine, you think he's a flaw like Miles Garrett is a picture perfect ninety nine. Flawless player. Everything he does, ⁓ the way he impacts a game, Every level of being a pass rusher as well as a run stopper, as well as everything that he brings to the table. ⁓ he's the definition of a ninety nine. Nathan Hawthorne: Yeah, no argument. Jarod McInroy: Where's Patrick Mahomes? What are we doing? Nathan Hawthorne: Has Pat been in the 99 Club? I'm sure he's had to have been in the 99 club before. I'd hope so also. If if we're dishing it out to Matt Stafford now, Matt Stafford to me. Jarod McInroy: I'd freaking hope so. Goodness gracious. I get that one though. I don't hate that. I don't hate it. Again, not a Rams fan. Nathan Hawthorne: You might as well put Dak Prescott up there if we're just talking about pure passing numbers. I don't Jarod McInroy: No, no, no, no, no. Nathan Hawthorne: I'm not mad and I and I'm thankful that both Madden and 2K do this. They really reserve that 99 spot for guys who are actually game changing 99 overall. Big respect. But yeah, Mick Bride feels tough because we didn't see Arizona win games. Like how can you be a ninety nine overall if you're not impacting winning? Miles Garrett, I think, is different. On those Browns teams, that defense was disgusting. They were gritty knockout games, but their offense just couldn't do anything. So you knew if they could help out that they would. But that offense in Arizona, like they put up points and were a little bit feisty, but he's not impacting wins, I think, in the same way that these other guys on the list are. I mean, you're talking about who you want to give a guy a ninety nine best at their position. Like that's the guy. You can think about a guys like ⁓ Pinnae Sewell. Jarod McInroy: Brandon Aubrey. Why isn't he either? Come on, man, I Nathan Hawthorne: Like they don't like to give ninety-nine overall to ⁓ offensive linemen, but you gave it to Trent Williams a couple years ago, but Panay Sewell's unbelievable, right? So I think ⁓ I don't know. I'm not gonna get on a high horse about a video game's numbers, but that one certainly stuck out. ⁓ you got weird choice, but you got two of the top three quarterbacks ⁓ based on the list inside ⁓ that ninety nine club with Josh Allen and Matt Safford. Jarod McInroy: No. It's fine. It was weird. It's a weird decision. Weird choice. Nathan Hawthorne: So there's there again, there's some truth to how great those guys are. Jarod McInroy: Yeah, well to wrap it up here, tell me this. I got one last thing and then we'll get out of here and we'll we'll put a bow on this top ten list here. Nathan Hawthorne: No. Jarod McInroy: You gave me your ten. You gave me your Trevor Lawrence, whatever. Who who is who's eleven and twelve? Who's just outside for you? Who's right there? And don't include Drake May, 'cause that's a cop out. Nathan Hawthorne: ⁓ to me it's Jordan Love and then ⁓ Jordan Love is at eleven and then I've got Baker Mayfield Sam Darnold at twelve. Those are my eleven twelve. Jordan Love I feel great about Jarod McInroy: So you would you would still take Jordan Love over Sam Darnold right now. If you're the Seattle Seahawks and and the Packers just come to you and they're like, Hey, we'll do a one for one. Nothing, no strings attached, one for one. You guys can have Jordan Love. ⁓ just give us Sam Darnold. We're n we don't want to talk about it. We don't want to have negotiations one for one. Nathan Hawthorne: Yeah, it's hard to unsee what Clint Kubiak's been able to do as an offensive coordinator with Sam Darnold. And Sam Darnold previous to that having that time with Kevin O'Connell. So we've just seen him really be cared for. Yeah, he's so he's just gone to three excellent offensive quarterback friendly coaches. And again, I'm not I don't this this is the crazy thing about his career. He wins a Super Bowl and we're like, Yeah, he produced Jarod McInroy: And Cal Shanahan the year before that. Nathan Hawthorne: And his receiver, he made him a ninety-nine overall in Madden. And we're sitting here debating whether this guy's top ten. You know what? Great work. Sam Darnold is number eleven. He has just bumped Jordan Love. But I but I just think there's I I don't know. I just feel like Jordan Love has a little bit more gas in the tank. It might not be responsible. It might not be the best fuel. But he's got a little more juice to him, I think, to Jarod McInroy: No. Nathan Hawthorne: make plays that, you know, Sam Darnold ultimately can't. ⁓ gosh, that is a tough one. But yeah, Sam Darnold did just kind of work his way up there. Jarod McInroy: I wouldn't f I would feel worse about my team if I had Jordan Lovis, my quarterback than Sam Darnold right now. Nathan Hawthorne: You know, I think I would too. I would feel I would feel like I'm not sure what's going to happen on this possession. That's the uncomfortable with Sam Darnold, I know I'm getting, you know, five to six plays. But with Jordan Love, I might get one. He might throw a pick on first down, but he also might throw a 90-yard bomb on first down. Jarod McInroy: And that it's not that crazy. Yeah. Yeah. But that's what I'm saying with the rest of these names. Like if if you're one for one and they're like, Hey, give us Sam Darnold and we'll give you Justin Herbert, like you're taking Herbert. Right? Like like that's a confident yes. You're doing it with Caleb Williams. That's a confident yes. That's where I'm like, if Jordan Love isn't a confident yes and it makes you wonder and question, he's probably not better. Nathan Hawthorne: Absolutely. Yeah. Well how about this? Dak Prescott or Sam Darnold? Jarod McInroy: Dak a hundred percent. I think if you were to throw now given let's okay, let's say last year's team. No for sure, for sure. But let's say last year's team, again, it's really hard to have this conversation with the current state of Seattle because again, we don't know what they they don't have Clint Kubak anymore. So let's say into last year's team, plug and play, Dak in that pos in that team with Clint Kubiac. Nathan Hawthorne: 'Cause he's Dax had some of the best wide receivers to play the game. Jarod McInroy: A hundred percent better. A hundred percent. I I don't even I don't even think that's a debate. Nathan Hawthorne: Okay. I think that's gonna wrap it up. Jarod McInroy: Yeah. No it's let's let's wrap it up. Nathan Hawthorne: Let's wrap it up. Again, like, comment, subscribe, tell your best friend about us. We're gonna tell our best friends about you guys and how much you've shown us love by liking, commenting, and subscribing. My name's Nathan Hawthorne. This is my co-host Jared McEnroy. We just broke down the top ten quarterbacks in the NFL. We told ESPN, those coaches, those executives, the scouts, where exactly they were wrong. It's a sin to have Drake May in the top eight. It is A sin probably to have Caleb Williams at number six, but we won't go into that. That's gonna wrap it up. We we will see you guys on the next one. Jarod McInroy: Do better.
