- 1:13Speaker 1: Philip M's Steakhouse. We're gonna try to get some video
- 1:17Speaker 1: of Bar two going down on the slides at Guys
- 1:21Speaker 1: or Falls. He'll do that in the heartbeat. I mean,
- 1:25Speaker 1: he shipped his golf clubs in a gun case last
- 1:27Speaker 1: time he was here, so I mean that guy's absolute crazy.
- 1:34Speaker 1: He did the same thing to me. You know, he
- 1:36Speaker 1: didn't do it last time I mentioned this. Last week.
- 1:39Speaker 1: He didn't call me and just start going into something.
- 1:42Speaker 1: He doesn't say. He just whatever the topic or subject
- 1:46Speaker 1: that he just goes straight.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Let me tell you about these numbers for North Carolina.
- 1:51Speaker 2: What just happened? Right?
- 1:53Speaker 4: He like a drinking game.
- 1:54Speaker 3: It just won't end exactly.
- 1:55Speaker 2: So, but he did that to me yesterday.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Nice.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I don't remember when I took his call, if it was,
- 2:02Speaker 1: it was on my way to starbl Or, on my
- 2:04Speaker 1: way back to Starbo and I was there. It was
- 2:07Speaker 1: a quick trip. I didn't get to go to two brothers.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I didn't get to go to older brother bistro. I
- 2:14Speaker 1: didn't even go on campus.
- 2:17Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Anyway, I'll be back. I'll be back, that's for sure.
- 2:21Speaker 1: We're trying to move kid what one kid out of
- 2:24Speaker 1: state and then one kid of course has to move
- 2:27Speaker 1: one other place for his last year, and so it's
- 2:32Speaker 1: absolute pandemonium and chaos. But but Wendy is managing the
- 2:38Speaker 1: chaos very well.
- 2:40Speaker 2: So how many places live.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Wilkes dorm SAE house kind of and then he lived
- 2:51Speaker 1: in a house this past year with his friends, right,
- 2:55Speaker 1: and now he's going to live at our place, thank god.
- 3:00Speaker 2: So yeah, okay, yeah, it's not so.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I haven't had ay like terrible moves within where it's
- 3:07Speaker 1: been a lot of furniture or anything like that. Even
- 3:09Speaker 1: Ela Hall, I mean, being a female sometimes you have
- 3:11Speaker 1: more stuff. She kept her and Wendy kept it very
- 3:16Speaker 1: very minimal.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Love that.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Now moving her out of state, it's a different animals.
- 3:22Speaker 1: But that's not her fault. It's just part of it.
- 3:27Speaker 1: And you know, hindsight, we got that door rapped. I
- 3:33Speaker 1: should have gotten that door rapped too, but I just
- 3:37Speaker 1: think it would look it would look good anyway. Yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 1: we've been moving, we're all mot we're getting as soon
- 3:43Speaker 1: as they're settled. Yeah, things are going to go back
- 3:48Speaker 1: to whatever normal is.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I don't even know what that is.
- 3:52Speaker 1: But we just got two kids going in two different
- 3:56Speaker 1: directions and it's kind of crazy. Not any think Craig Cray,
- 4:01Speaker 1: but crazy, and just got to get everybody settled and
- 4:05Speaker 1: done and whatever. And hopefully we're close. I think we're
- 4:11Speaker 1: about to turn the corner. So and we moved him
- 4:14Speaker 1: to Washington, d C. Yeah, So it's just been a
- 4:17Speaker 1: lot of it's a lot of moving to shake it,
- 4:19Speaker 1: a lot of moving and shaking. But he had a
- 4:24Speaker 1: great experience up there. I knew he would have a
- 4:27Speaker 1: good time.
- 4:28Speaker 2: He had an.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I don't mean good time obviously you're gonna have fun
- 4:35Speaker 1: there as an intern show, which is great. But he
- 4:38Speaker 1: he had an amazing, triple amazing experience. So that's as
- 4:44Speaker 1: a parent, well worth the move.
- 4:46Speaker 2: That's cool.
- 4:47Speaker 1: And he went to see a million different things, which
- 4:49Speaker 1: is what I want you to do.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Whoever it is. Yeah, it was a quick, quick trip
- 4:56Speaker 2: to start.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Well, no campus, no two brothers, no older brother bistra,
- 5:00Speaker 1: I mean, what the heck. Didn't even get to call
- 5:01Speaker 1: my buddies. Didn't even think about it. I don't even
- 5:05Speaker 1: think I made a phone call while I was there.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I mean it was boom, boom, we were moving stuff.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Da da da da dah. Get that thing loaded, go
- 5:13Speaker 2: type deal.
- 5:13Speaker 4: So he was locked and loaded before you got there. Yeah,
- 5:15Speaker 4: he's owned it. He knew what you had to do
- 5:17Speaker 4: and get it get out. Yes, and Wilkes was there
- 5:19Speaker 4: to help. Okay, good, Yeah, he's he's younger and stronger,
- 5:24Speaker 4: thank god.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Crazy how that works. Yep, love it.
- 5:28Speaker 1: So his comment to me was this moving is getting
- 5:33Speaker 1: in the way of my golf game. I thought I
- 5:37Speaker 1: wasn't gonna say the expletive that I wanted to.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I thought, if you only knew how much I don't
- 5:42Speaker 2: give up.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Yeah right, but anyway, all right, The Dancing Rabbit Golf
- 5:47Speaker 1: text line is six oh one eight eight five three
- 5:51Speaker 1: seven seven six Book your round right now. Find us
- 5:54Speaker 1: on X at bo Bounds. Mike Detilier coming up at
- 5:58Speaker 1: eight thirty. Mike D Baby straight out of New Orleans.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Jay Meadows maybe straight out of Clinton. I may be
- 6:05Speaker 1: straight out of bell Haven. Mike d is straight out
- 6:07Speaker 1: of New Orleans. WWL Radio TV New Orleans. He'll join
- 6:11Speaker 1: us on the Farm Bureau Insurance guest line. I was
- 6:16Speaker 1: supposed to drop audio thirty five minutes ago. We don't
- 6:19Speaker 1: have time in this segment. I think we'll probably drop
- 6:23Speaker 1: some audio in in the next segment and.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Go from there. So it's a good tease.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Yeah, we've got some bar two on the nine game
- 6:35Speaker 1: conference schedule, but we also have Steve das Michigan Wolverine
- 6:43Speaker 1: Insider on the Michigan Wolverine Athletic department scandal, which involves
- 6:51Speaker 1: Jim Harbaugh, Sharon Moore, who they fired last December, their
- 6:57Speaker 1: current athletic director, Ward Manual, and Paid Shivers, who was
- 7:01Speaker 1: having Paige and Sharon Moore were having an affair and
- 7:06Speaker 1: it looked like some stuff happened there, and so that's
- 7:13Speaker 1: you know, here's the deal. Here's what is alleged. Text
- 7:17Speaker 1: message is sent by paid Shiver, who was an intern
- 7:22Speaker 1: under Sharon Moore when he was an authensive coordinator at
- 7:25Speaker 1: Michigan under Harball.
- 7:27Speaker 2: You follow me, all right?
- 7:29Speaker 1: Text messages sent by paid Shiver to Sharon Moore indicate
- 7:33Speaker 1: that Jim Harball arranged a visit to a women's health
- 7:38Speaker 1: clinic that culminated in an abortion for Shiver. According to
- 7:43Speaker 1: the messages, Shiver told more Sharon Moore that Harball was
- 7:49Speaker 1: unaware of the assistants involved an abortion. There you go,
- 7:55Speaker 1: that's alleged. We've got a twelve million dollars, you know,
- 8:02Speaker 1: report being released here in the next twenty four hours
- 8:06Speaker 1: from a Chicago law firm, and we'll see exactly the well,
- 8:12Speaker 1: according to the report, the who, what, where, when and why?
- 8:16Speaker 1: And again, I'm just gonna be honest with you, nine
- 8:20Speaker 1: percent of the Michigan fan base they think Jim Harbor
- 8:22Speaker 1: he'll always be a got you know gow. You know,
- 8:25Speaker 1: he finally turned the program. He beat Ohio State three
- 8:28Speaker 1: years in a row. He fought the NCAA in doing so,
- 8:32Speaker 1: he got suspended twice and they won a national championship.
- 8:35Speaker 1: And again I just told you he beat Ohio State
- 8:37Speaker 1: three times in a row after they didn't beat him
- 8:39Speaker 1: for like fourteen years. And then he went onto the NFL.
- 8:43Speaker 1: That burned a little bit. But it's not like Kiffin
- 8:46Speaker 1: going LSU. No, it's just different. Like if Lane would
- 8:49Speaker 1: have gone to the Falcons, it's different. If Lane would
- 8:52Speaker 1: have gone to the Dolphins, it's different. And I still
- 8:56Speaker 1: believe that's Lane's ultimate that that is where he won't
- 9:00Speaker 1: be today. I mean, he's glad to be at LSU
- 9:03Speaker 1: and he wants to win a national title because he
- 9:06Speaker 1: wants to prove the Saban who really doesn't like him
- 9:09Speaker 1: but has tried to be cordial with him, because Lane
- 9:13Speaker 1: has gone overboard and trying to have a relationship that
- 9:16Speaker 1: it drives him crazy that you know, Kirby Smart, one
- 9:21Speaker 1: of his colleagues, has one, and he doesn't want Sark
- 9:24Speaker 1: to win one until he wins one.
- 9:27Speaker 2: And now he's hat of blue blood.
- 9:30Speaker 1: But if Lane goes to the Dolphins, it's not this
- 9:32Speaker 1: burned down the house thing that we got September nineteenth,
- 9:35Speaker 1: LSU at Old Miss Jacksons. Okay, we'll be back in
- 9:37Speaker 1: a second Mike Detillier at eight thirty h.
- 10:39Speaker 3: It ain't bragging if you can back it up.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Here we are and here we go out of bounds
- 10:45Speaker 1: ESPN one oh five nine the zone like a rocket ship.
- 10:49Speaker 1: We're live in the bank plus studio bo bound straight
- 10:51Speaker 1: funk with you on a on a summer football day.
- 10:57Speaker 2: That's a good thing. Oh.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I love this time of year because the anticipation of
- 11:05Speaker 1: the season, which is good.
- 11:06Speaker 2: It's good for our business.
- 11:09Speaker 1: People are like, don't you wish football was year round?
- 11:11Speaker 1: I'm like, no, it's the whole. The best part is like, Okay,
- 11:17Speaker 1: the Super Bowl ends, and of course then we got
- 11:19Speaker 1: all kinds of great stuff March, madness, Masters, sec, baseball, whatever.
- 11:24Speaker 1: But non then we get to reset and think about
- 11:29Speaker 1: all the things that could happen. Like it's the unknown
- 11:32Speaker 1: that drives us human as right. I mean, it's the unknown, right.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I mean we think we know control is an illusion,
- 11:38Speaker 1: we all know that. But it's the unknown of what
- 11:44Speaker 1: is my team going to do? What is my quarterback
- 11:46Speaker 1: gonna do? Is my defensive coordinator really going to be
- 11:49Speaker 1: that good? Is my offensive coordinator going to be that good?
- 11:52Speaker 1: In red zone play calling? Will there be a couple
- 11:56Speaker 1: of players that I don't even know which most of
- 11:58Speaker 1: you don't know the players on your team, which is
- 12:00Speaker 1: very understandable this day and age. But will you have
- 12:04Speaker 1: a couple of players emerge as good players and then
- 12:10Speaker 1: a few teams will just skirt the injury bug?
- 12:14Speaker 2: Who will that be? And you know when you do that.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Sometimes that's kind of the that's the magic formula, right,
- 12:25Speaker 1: that's the five star gumbo when you mix up all
- 12:29Speaker 1: the ingredients of that happening ole miss last year, it's
- 12:34Speaker 1: a great greatest college football season in the history of
- 12:37Speaker 1: the state of Mississippi. Eleven and one ended up thirteen
- 12:41Speaker 1: and two, a whisker from the National Championship game. Every
- 12:45Speaker 1: there at all, everything was perfect, whether you want to
- 12:49Speaker 1: talk about five star, top level Commander's Palace gumbo or Emeralds,
- 12:57Speaker 1: or you want to look at it like for old
- 13:00Speaker 1: miss going eleven and one and then thirteen and two.
- 13:02Speaker 1: You think about the ultimate highest quality bone in RIBI, right,
- 13:11Speaker 1: I mean, you're at Kestler Prime and you've got everything.
- 13:13Speaker 1: You've got the people you want at the table, you
- 13:16Speaker 1: got the best food, you got whatever your beverage is
- 13:19Speaker 1: of choice, and then everything lines up to a magical,
- 13:24Speaker 1: magnificent evening, right which, by the way, the show is
- 13:27Speaker 1: brought to you by the bone in Ribbi at Kestler
- 13:29Speaker 1: Prime and the Renaissance. But when you get that perfect
- 13:34Speaker 1: recipe delivered cooked perfectly, hey bam, everything's great. That's what
- 13:40Speaker 1: happened for Old Miss in Indiana last year, right Miami
- 13:46Speaker 1: to a certain extent. Okay, and man, when you get
- 13:53Speaker 1: that twenty twenty one Mississippi State Baseball twenty twenty two
- 13:57Speaker 1: Old miss Baseball Indiana, who's did they have the right?
- 14:03Speaker 1: I mean they had the recipe of all recipes. I
- 14:06Speaker 1: mean they were the James Beard Award winners. Times a million,
- 14:10Speaker 1: put a million act put no put one hundred million acts.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I mean Indiana made. They don't even know it's still
- 14:16Speaker 1: coming the residual. But let's just say Indiana will make
- 14:21Speaker 1: I don't know, quarter billion dollars. I would think probably
- 14:23Speaker 1: pretty easy off the national championship. When you think about excitement,
- 14:27Speaker 1: more people giving the academics, more people giving the athletics
- 14:30Speaker 1: type deal every bit of a quarter billion, eight hundred
- 14:34Speaker 1: thousand living alums now that have never been engaged in
- 14:38Speaker 1: this sport that drives the train. You know, we don't
- 14:42Speaker 1: even know what that will look like. I mean, they've
- 14:44Speaker 1: got more money than God seven or eight hundred thousand
- 14:47Speaker 1: living alums. I mean, they've got the largest or second
- 14:52Speaker 1: largest alumni based in the country. Incredible quarterby's gonna I
- 15:01Speaker 1: think they'll do that pretty quickly. Yeah, and they may,
- 15:05Speaker 1: you know, because of mega gifts. I don't know, because
- 15:10Speaker 1: I don't keep up with it. I mean, it could
- 15:12Speaker 1: have already driven ten more College of Business gifts, ten
- 15:16Speaker 1: more College of Engineering gifts.
- 15:19Speaker 2: You know.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Uh, and God knows several dozen athletic gifts either you know,
- 15:26Speaker 1: at seven figures or they may get into an eight
- 15:28Speaker 1: figure gift. So sitting there, well, yeah, and Cuban's already
- 15:33Speaker 1: pumping money into the program, and you're you're exactly right.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I mean, let's just say he's got ten million into
- 15:39Speaker 1: the football team. He'll do that annually, yeah, if he
- 15:44Speaker 1: wants to, as long as Signetti and them are doing
- 15:49Speaker 1: their thing. And I would have to believe that Cuban
- 15:53Speaker 1: is pretty enamored with Signetti because Signetti's a big time thinker,
- 15:58Speaker 1: like Signetti could be. I think that Signetti could be
- 16:05Speaker 1: on the executive team at Google that's that's rare.
- 16:10Speaker 2: In in with coach.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I mean, you've got smart coaches, but they still wouldn't
- 16:13Speaker 1: translate to you know, walking into Google or Amazon and
- 16:19Speaker 1: being a Signetti tinker kind of a chemist, physicist, you know.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Uh, he's like.
- 16:28Speaker 1: A biomedical engineering major meets coach.
- 16:37Speaker 2: That's fair or even.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Hmmm.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I mean as far as intellectually, he's he's up there
- 16:47Speaker 1: with you know, Belichick Saban. It's different, but saving I know,
- 16:51Speaker 1: Saban is still more football coach, but you would you
- 16:55Speaker 1: would not. I don't think anybody would flinch if Saban
- 16:58Speaker 1: was running a two billion dollar aspha company. No, just
- 17:01Speaker 1: his attention to detail, focus, drive, discipline, accountability, and then
- 17:08Speaker 1: understanding how to get the people in the right seats
- 17:10Speaker 1: on the bus. I don't think that would shock anybody.
- 17:13Speaker 1: If you said Nick Saban runs a two billion dollar
- 17:17Speaker 1: asphalt company out of Atlanta, Yeah, they'd skip right.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Over it, right, Yeah, of course he does. Yeah. C
- 17:24Speaker 2: the Cuban and Cal remind you, are they kind of
- 17:26Speaker 2: alike Perry? Yeah?
- 17:29Speaker 1: No, no, okay, I mean there's some sales. They're both
- 17:35Speaker 1: in sales. Even when Cuban hit he went the Steve
- 17:40Speaker 1: Jobs route. Even when he hit his lick of the
- 17:44Speaker 1: billion plus on Broadcast dot Com, which now is worth
- 17:46Speaker 1: several billion, he understood that he was still in sales,
- 17:50Speaker 1: and so he sold himself the last twenty six years
- 17:52Speaker 1: on TV and of course getting straight into the maps,
- 17:55Speaker 1: which was brilliant. Of course, he exited last year of
- 17:58Speaker 1: the year before for three point four million or whatever
- 18:00Speaker 1: it was. But yes, so I was wrong to answer
- 18:07Speaker 1: that so fast. Caliperry is one of the most genius
- 18:10Speaker 1: salesman in the history of sports, and uh and Cuban hasn't.
- 18:16Speaker 1: He fully understood what Shark Tank could do for him,
- 18:20Speaker 1: even though he already had an absolute fortune in the bank.
- 18:24Speaker 1: He looked at it as why would I become a hermit?
- 18:26Speaker 1: Why would I just you know, go off the grid.
- 18:30Speaker 1: This is something that I enjoy, so I'm going to
- 18:32Speaker 1: embrace new media. Of course, he came out of Broadcast,
- 18:36Speaker 1: dot Com and Yah, Yahoo, so it kind of was
- 18:38Speaker 1: a fit for him. And the funny thing is he
- 18:40Speaker 1: hates Trump and Trump did the same thing. Trump embraced
- 18:44Speaker 1: new media by going on his show, which then even
- 18:48Speaker 1: put more lighter fluid on his brand, which then allowed
- 18:51Speaker 1: him to be It allowed Trump to be totally comfortable
- 18:57Speaker 1: in front of the camera.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Totally.
- 19:00Speaker 1: And if you're comfortable in front of the camera since JFK,
- 19:03Speaker 1: you win JFK. Reagan, Clinton, Obama, Trump proven. If you're
- 19:07Speaker 1: a star in front of the camera, regardless of your
- 19:09Speaker 1: policies or many other things, you are winning. I mean,
- 19:14Speaker 1: the Romney's, the mccains, the Biden thing was a fluke,
- 19:18Speaker 1: you know, the Bob Dole, the Walter Mondale's, they ain't winning.
- 19:22Speaker 2: I mean, I don't even have to.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Be a political pundit where you're paying me four hundred
- 19:26Speaker 1: thousand dollars a month. That's brain dead stuff to roll
- 19:30Speaker 1: those kind of candidates out. We'll be back with Mike
- 19:33Speaker 1: Detillier WWL Radio TV New Orleans.
- 20:10Speaker 3: It ain't bragging if you can back it up.
- 20:13Speaker 1: And here we go at a bounds one oh five nine.
- 20:18Speaker 1: The Zone ESPN. We're powered by sound, sound and communications
- 20:25Speaker 1: and they are the leaders when it comes to video
- 20:27Speaker 1: walls in your conference room, in your lobby, or in
- 20:31Speaker 1: your sports arena or football stadium you name it, or
- 20:35Speaker 1: your game room. Soundcomab dot com. That is the place
- 20:41Speaker 1: to call for your next video wall. Soundcomav dot com
- 20:45Speaker 1: one O five nine the Zone. ESPN our friend Mike
- 20:48Speaker 1: Detilier WWL Radio TV New Orleans Afternoon Drive every day,
- 20:54Speaker 1: plus he does LSU and Saints football. He joined us
- 20:57Speaker 1: on the Farm Bureau Insurance gime line.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Mike D.
- 21:02Speaker 1: You told us a couple of months ago that Sam
- 21:05Speaker 1: Levitt was AOKA and gonna be fine, and he is.
- 21:09Speaker 1: And of course Kiffin has recently said again that he
- 21:12Speaker 1: has been cleared.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Uh.
- 21:14Speaker 1: But with him not being able to go through, although
- 21:16Speaker 1: he's got a ton of PT playing time under his belt.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I mean I just saw him playing Startvill last year.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Although he's got a ton of playing time and games
- 21:26Speaker 1: under his belt, but he did miss the spring. Do
- 21:31Speaker 1: you think he and Lane will be able to They'll
- 21:33Speaker 1: have about thirty practices before week one. Do you think
- 21:37Speaker 1: that'll be enough time for them to get on the
- 21:39Speaker 1: same page and get rolling?
- 21:40Speaker 2: Mike D.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I really do. I do think it's more or
- 21:46Speaker 3: less for me the timing with receivers that he really
- 21:51Speaker 3: hasn't thrown a lot too. One thing with Sam, you know,
- 21:57Speaker 3: he works out on his own, he gets receivers to
- 21:59Speaker 3: work with him, and so he's become the leader in
- 22:03Speaker 3: that way. But I think the timing part is always
- 22:07Speaker 3: something when you don't have the spring to have worked
- 22:11Speaker 3: with him, that's in question him learning Kiffin's system. I
- 22:17Speaker 3: think he can pick that up pretty quickly. You think
- 22:22Speaker 3: about Trinidad Chamblis last year. He came in late in
- 22:25Speaker 3: the process. You know, he quickly picked it up. So
- 22:31Speaker 3: I think the system part won't be the issue. I
- 22:36Speaker 3: think it'll be early on getting the timing down with
- 22:41Speaker 3: his receivers and tight ends more than anything. And he's
- 22:47Speaker 3: got one of the most lethal weapons in college football
- 22:51Speaker 3: at tight end and trade as Green, So I think
- 22:55Speaker 3: that that's going to work out really well for LSU.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Question marks for me aren't on offense for olow Shoe,
- 23:05Speaker 3: they're much more so on defense.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Okay, Mike Nttillier WWL Radio for our listeners, kiffn did
- 23:14Speaker 1: retain Baker and the defensive staff, which is a good thing.
- 23:19Speaker 1: But Mike has some question marks on the defensive side
- 23:23Speaker 1: of the ball for LSU. Let's go over those again, Mike,
- 23:27Speaker 1: what are those question marks?
- 23:30Speaker 3: It's along the defensive line more than anything else. You're
- 23:34Speaker 3: going to be playing a lot of young guys. They
- 23:37Speaker 3: hit big in the recruiting cycle on four key freshman players.
- 23:44Speaker 3: But okay, that's a difference between playing high school football
- 23:50Speaker 3: in the college football game. You're an eighteen year old
- 23:53Speaker 3: guy going up against twenty two and twenty three year
- 23:56Speaker 3: old young men. That's a big difference. You know, you
- 24:01Speaker 3: get all the geniuses like I do. I ain't no
- 24:04Speaker 3: difference between playing high school ball and college ball. Yeah,
- 24:08Speaker 3: until your ass is on the field. Then you find
- 24:11Speaker 3: out real quick that's a big difference in playing that,
- 24:15Speaker 3: especially in the trenches. And so that to me is
- 24:20Speaker 3: a big question mark. LSU does not have a lot
- 24:25Speaker 3: of depth up front along that defensive line, and it's
- 24:31Speaker 3: really how quickly, too, can you get a pass rush.
- 24:36Speaker 3: LSU has sporadically gotten people that can put pressure on
- 24:41Speaker 3: the quarterback. Can Jordan Ross and Human Kneeling be those guys?
- 24:50Speaker 3: It makes the secondary's job a lot easier when you
- 24:54Speaker 3: got pressure, and I always believe that nothing wins games
- 24:59Speaker 3: more in the with quarter than a pass rush. Nothing,
- 25:03Speaker 3: And so that that's still to me a major issue,
- 25:09Speaker 3: a question mark, I should say for law shoot the
- 25:13Speaker 3: interior defensive line and having to play a lot of
- 25:17Speaker 3: younger guys and can human Mailing and Ross be the
- 25:24Speaker 3: guy coming off the edge to give you that path
- 25:28Speaker 3: rush we saw in Spurts in the spring. With both
- 25:34Speaker 3: of them, can they be consistent with it that That
- 25:37Speaker 3: to me is the big key for LA shoot this year.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Going back to it. What else you you had remembered
- 25:46Speaker 3: them for for years with their ability to run the
- 25:50Speaker 3: ball and slam the door and stopping the run. They've
- 25:55Speaker 3: done neither the last three to four years. The final
- 26:01Speaker 3: year of Jaden Daniels was all masked because of the
- 26:05Speaker 3: fact Daniels was so good be scared of but Jesus
- 26:09Speaker 3: at it every time he took off running. But it
- 26:12Speaker 3: wasn't like they could really consistently run the football. And
- 26:17Speaker 3: so that I think will improve under Kiffer. And you
- 26:21Speaker 3: look at these teams that will miss, they've always run
- 26:24Speaker 3: the football pretty well and really well at times. That'll
- 26:28Speaker 3: get better. But I got to see it up front
- 26:32Speaker 3: for LSU. Defensive line wise, their linebackers are really good
- 26:37Speaker 3: and they have some depth. They're sort of paper thin
- 26:41Speaker 3: at corner though they're starters, and number three guys is
- 26:45Speaker 3: really good and they're strong at the safety position. But upfront,
- 26:51Speaker 3: that's some question marks. And if you're gonna get beat,
- 26:55Speaker 3: that's where you're gonna get beat that. If I'm oll
- 26:58Speaker 3: Miss in Game three, I'm going to run the football
- 27:01Speaker 3: at them and prove that they can stop the run.
- 27:04Speaker 3: I'm a running with Lacy and prove to me that
- 27:09Speaker 3: you can stop the run, because it's going to question
- 27:12Speaker 3: mark the last few years.
- 27:14Speaker 1: All right, So Levitt's cleared, He's good to go. Mike
- 27:20Speaker 1: feels good about the LSU offense and it sounds like
- 27:23Speaker 1: the second and third level of the LSU defense. But
- 27:26Speaker 1: what are they going to have on the defense? They
- 27:28Speaker 1: got talent, but a lot of them are young and inexperience.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Game three, they'll go against Trinidad and Lacy and ole
- 27:36Speaker 1: Miss and should be one hell of a game. Could
- 27:40Speaker 1: be one of the better college football as far as
- 27:42Speaker 1: high ape and all that. Nothing will match it just
- 27:44Speaker 1: because of Lane and everything that played out, But could
- 27:48Speaker 1: be one of the best games of the season, which
- 27:50Speaker 1: will be awesome. He's Mike Ntilier WWL Radio TV New Orleans.
- 27:55Speaker 1: He joins us on one oh five Down to the
- 27:57Speaker 1: Zone ESPN. We're powered by sound and communications for your
- 28:00Speaker 1: next video wall. All right, So Mikey, what about Charlie
- 28:05Speaker 1: Weiss Junior? So you know there are so many guys
- 28:08Speaker 1: that are under unbelievable head coaches who also are specialized
- 28:13Speaker 1: on that side of the ball, that get a lot
- 28:16Speaker 1: of pub but really aren't that good.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Well.
- 28:18Speaker 1: For example, under Belichick, Romeo Crenell and Charlie Weiss Senior
- 28:22Speaker 1: were supposed to be amazing and then they get out
- 28:24Speaker 1: from under the nest and it doesn't work out. We
- 28:27Speaker 1: saw that with some guys under Saban. Charlie Weiss Junior
- 28:31Speaker 1: may be a little bit different here, Mike. He may
- 28:33Speaker 1: actually even though Lane casts a shadow over him because
- 28:37Speaker 1: Laane is the play caller, it kind of looks like
- 28:40Speaker 1: Weiss Junior may may have some stuff to him and
- 28:43Speaker 1: may be a real valuable piece of the puzzle.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Is that the way you see it, Mike.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I really do. I did a national show yesterday
- 28:52Speaker 3: morning and it was something that was brought up to me,
- 28:56Speaker 3: and my feeling is Weiss is going to be on
- 29:00Speaker 3: a one and done at LSU. I think he can
- 29:03Speaker 3: propel himself into being a head coach at the collegiate level.
- 29:07Speaker 3: He's I think he's that good. He relates really well
- 29:10Speaker 3: to players. We've heard that from people at ole Miss,
- 29:14Speaker 3: from people that he's dealt with at LSU excellent recruiter. Again,
- 29:22Speaker 3: there's some genetics there, and so I think he's a
- 29:27Speaker 3: huge piece of a puzzle here because you always like
- 29:30Speaker 3: even the Lane I think sees the game differently. I
- 29:35Speaker 3: remember this was probably October of last year and I
- 29:40Speaker 3: got coach oje On to come on the show with
- 29:42Speaker 3: us on w w AL and I asked him about Lane.
- 29:46Speaker 3: He was like, Mike, I've been around a lot of
- 29:49Speaker 3: really good coaches in my time, but nobody saw the
- 29:53Speaker 3: game like Lane does. Because he said, you know, as
- 29:58Speaker 3: for me, I'm an old line coach. You know, I
- 30:01Speaker 3: see what's going on up front, offensive defensive line. But
- 30:05Speaker 3: he says, you know, with Lane, you can talk to
- 30:08Speaker 3: him about something. He sees all twenty two, all twenty
- 30:12Speaker 3: two out on the field. At the same time, he said,
- 30:15Speaker 3: just amazing. He said, I've never been around anybody that
- 30:18Speaker 3: could do that like that. And you know he coached
- 30:20Speaker 3: with you know, Pete Carroll and Jimmy Johnson and you
- 30:24Speaker 3: can kind of go on, you know, Sean Payton, all
- 30:27Speaker 3: those guys, and he was like, just amazing how he
- 30:30Speaker 3: can see breakdowns and try to catch you where you're
- 30:37Speaker 3: very vulnerable. On the defensive side the football. But I
- 30:42Speaker 3: think Charlie has learned a lot of that from from
- 30:45Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin and the fact that Lane would trust him,
- 30:50Speaker 3: I think is goes to show what Lane thinks of
- 30:52Speaker 3: Charlie White's junior. So I think if they have the
- 30:56Speaker 3: success that I think that they'll have this year, then
- 30:59Speaker 3: why can propel this to being a head coach in
- 31:02Speaker 3: college football? And he's already was looked at strongly by
- 31:07Speaker 3: a number of NFL teams, uh to come in you know, Oh,
- 31:11Speaker 3: that's right, he said no to them down.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I forgot about that.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Mike d and Dan Ellis they they they're paying him
- 31:23Speaker 1: like two and a half million dollars a year or
- 31:25Speaker 1: something to be the OC show.
- 31:26Speaker 3: That's pretty good. That's pretty good, man today are That's
- 31:31Speaker 3: pretty good to get paid that as an assistant. But yeah,
- 31:34Speaker 3: he's going to have opportunities. He's definitely going to have
- 31:37Speaker 3: opportunities as a head coach at the college level or
- 31:41Speaker 3: at the NFL level as offensive coordinator, quarterback coach. And
- 31:47Speaker 3: so I think he's somebody, especially early on, and I
- 31:54Speaker 3: think sometimes we overblow this about so many players on
- 32:01Speaker 3: every team and about man, look what happened at l
- 32:04Speaker 3: s U with all the changes and transfer portal, guys,
- 32:08Speaker 3: But couldn't you say that about virtually every team in
- 32:11Speaker 3: college football that you have all these changes happening, either
- 32:17Speaker 3: you losing them to the NFL draft or graduation or
- 32:23Speaker 3: transfer portal, some disappointments, and you're constantly changing. It's an
- 32:29Speaker 3: evolving league, to be honest with you, and it's just
- 32:35Speaker 3: not LSU. It's all over now. The major turnover for
- 32:39Speaker 3: LSU was that wide receiver and along the offensive line,
- 32:46Speaker 3: massive turnover there. How quickly all that can come together,
- 32:50Speaker 3: we'll see. But there's talent here, a lot of talent.
- 32:56Speaker 3: And you know, there is no precip or no inner
- 33:01Speaker 3: squad scrimmage. Eventually we might see that one day, you know,
- 33:06Speaker 3: but in college football they could sell it. Believe me,
- 33:09Speaker 3: they would be doing it. But how quickly that can
- 33:13Speaker 3: come together? For LASHOOT? I think the month of September
- 33:17Speaker 3: is one to watch because of you know, you start
- 33:21Speaker 3: off against Clemson, who they aren't as good as maybe
- 33:24Speaker 3: we've seen in years past, but they still got some
- 33:27Speaker 3: talent there. Then you play Louisiana Tech and then it's
- 33:30Speaker 3: Old Miss and then the week afterwards you play Texas
- 33:33Speaker 3: A and M team that has had your number the
- 33:37Speaker 3: last two years, and LSU has had leagues at halftime
- 33:42Speaker 3: for both games, and they got the still kicked out
- 33:45Speaker 3: of him in the second half against A and M.
- 33:48Speaker 3: But look at old Miss okay and the first two
- 33:52Speaker 3: games they through that and then they play LSU. But
- 33:55Speaker 3: then a sneaky game afterwards Florida. Yes with John somemmraw
- 34:02Speaker 3: And I keep telling people not because I did this
- 34:05Speaker 3: show with him for years when he was at plane
- 34:08Speaker 3: here and John somemrall and he knows this stuff and
- 34:13Speaker 3: he can recruit, He'll squeeze every bit of vitamin see
- 34:16Speaker 3: he can out of the orange. That's a tricky game.
- 34:20Speaker 2: For Ole Miss absolutely.
- 34:25Speaker 3: And one thing for sure, I know he's gonna sell
- 34:28Speaker 3: this man. All this hype about LSU Ole Miss Man,
- 34:33Speaker 3: they disrespecting us. You know, they don't think we can
- 34:36Speaker 3: hang with them, and emotionally to get a team up
- 34:41Speaker 3: back to back weeks like that is gonna be tough.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Same thing for Kiffin having to play A and M,
- 34:48Speaker 3: even though you got him at Tiger Stadium. That's gonna
- 34:51Speaker 3: be a really really tough game for LSU. And I
- 34:56Speaker 3: don't think A and EM is as good as they
- 34:58Speaker 3: were a year ago, but still's a really good football team.
- 35:03Speaker 3: And sometimes it's not who you played, but when you played.
- 35:07Speaker 2: That's that's exactly right.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Mike Ntilier, LSU Insider WWL Radio on the Farm Bureau
- 35:14Speaker 1: Insurance guest Line. You're listening to one oh five nine
- 35:17Speaker 1: the Zone ESPN. We had talked about that last week.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Mike makes a great point on the LSU two. LSU
- 35:24Speaker 1: and Old Miss will come out of those games with
- 35:26Speaker 1: brutal games. Ole Miss has to go to Florida, and
- 35:30Speaker 1: then LSU has to host A and M after all
- 35:34Speaker 1: the hype going into September nineteenth, and how physical a
- 35:37Speaker 1: game that will be both emotionally, physically and mentally, and
- 35:42Speaker 1: those are things, those are things to watch, you know, Mike,
- 35:48Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if, y'all, if LSU pulls away
- 35:53Speaker 1: from Clemson in the in the second half. We once
- 35:57Speaker 1: Kiffen and Levitt and everybody kind of gets a in
- 36:00Speaker 1: the first half under their belt and their feet on
- 36:04Speaker 1: the ground.
- 36:05Speaker 2: I wouldn't be.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Surprised if LSU and Baker and Kippen put the hammer
- 36:10Speaker 1: down on Dabbo could you see that happen.
- 36:15Speaker 3: I think he's gonna try. If I know Kippen, I
- 36:18Speaker 3: think he's gonna try. Yeah, that kind of a statement.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Deal about Hey, Yo talked about this and that in
- 36:26Speaker 3: the off season. I think if he has an opportunity,
- 36:29Speaker 3: he will. And one of the things came out of
- 36:33Speaker 3: the spring that surprised me, and he talked about three
- 36:39Speaker 3: guys in particular. One was treated as green you could
- 36:42Speaker 3: understand that you got a six foot seven tight end
- 36:45Speaker 3: that can play like he can. And Ty Benefield, the
- 36:50Speaker 3: transfer of safety from Boise States, such a good open
- 36:56Speaker 3: field tackle when you watch him, how good he can
- 36:59Speaker 3: play center field. He can also play up front against
- 37:01Speaker 3: the run. And then Jordan Seaton, the big left tackle.
- 37:06Speaker 3: But the other guy he brought up quite a bit
- 37:09Speaker 3: was Dylan Jones, the running back transfer from Wisconsin, and
- 37:16Speaker 3: at the end of spring, Dylan Jones was running with
- 37:20Speaker 3: the first team unit at running back over Harlem Barry
- 37:25Speaker 3: and Cayden Doom. Okay, Now, he's built differently because he's
- 37:30Speaker 3: a kind of a sharp, stocky guy, almost a hammer
- 37:34Speaker 3: type back, where you know Harlem is the speed quickness
- 37:39Speaker 3: back can catching the ball coming out of the backfield.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Cayden is a little bit of a combo back, but man,
- 37:47Speaker 3: I think if they have an opportunity late in the game,
- 37:51Speaker 3: I think he would try to put something on, but
- 37:54Speaker 3: running it, not necessarily throwing it. I think he wants
- 37:59Speaker 3: to make us statement that you know, it's just more
- 38:02Speaker 3: than just pitch and catch with us, that we're going
- 38:05Speaker 3: to be a very physical team. And he brought this
- 38:08Speaker 3: up numerous times. The two things over and over. The
- 38:12Speaker 3: physicality part of this game. You got to show it
- 38:16Speaker 3: and earn it, to earn that monocle of being a
- 38:20Speaker 3: physical team. The other thing he brought up was about
- 38:24Speaker 3: if you want to see changes in college football, look
- 38:28Speaker 3: at the NFL. He said, they do it first and
- 38:31Speaker 3: then we copy it. And I think about changes in
- 38:35Speaker 3: the NFL today so much. Twelve thirteen personnel, two tight ends,
- 38:41Speaker 3: three tight ends you see in the NFL today that
- 38:45Speaker 3: you know years ago, if you saw two tight ends
- 38:47Speaker 3: on the field, it was a third yard. Now to
- 38:52Speaker 3: use those tight ends as receivers, and you saw what
- 38:56Speaker 3: McVeigh did last year with the thirteen person The other
- 39:01Speaker 3: part was the safety play, what Nick him and Warrey
- 39:06Speaker 3: did for Seattle and their ability to use him up
- 39:10Speaker 3: front against the run, in that shark zone coverage part
- 39:14Speaker 3: of the field. You know, he's a big, strong safety.
- 39:18Speaker 3: You can use him a lot of different ways. And
- 39:22Speaker 3: he said that not once, not twice, three times about
- 39:28Speaker 3: the physical part you have to earn it, and secondly
- 39:31Speaker 3: about look at the changes in the NFL, and that's
- 39:35Speaker 3: what's happening in college football. LSU has never been known
- 39:40Speaker 3: for twelve personnel. They did it with less, but it
- 39:45Speaker 3: was the run the ball. I think you're going to
- 39:47Speaker 3: see that with LSU this year with twelve personnel and
- 39:52Speaker 3: also with ty Binnefield using him in the same role
- 39:58Speaker 3: as what we saw Seattle use was nickim and Moorey.
- 40:01Speaker 3: He said it. He didn't come out and tell you
- 40:04Speaker 3: how he was going to do it, but.
- 40:06Speaker 1: When the Honey Badger podcast, he basically said it, right, Yeah, yeah.
- 40:10Speaker 3: That that is something that you can see more and
- 40:14Speaker 3: more of. And I think he's right. You will see
- 40:17Speaker 3: more and more teams in the end in college football
- 40:20Speaker 3: using that because now you can go out and find
- 40:24Speaker 3: the six foot four six' five tight end that's a
- 40:27Speaker 3: hybrid today he's really a humbo player like part wide.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Receiver you got those. Guys, Man i'll see him every
- 40:36Speaker 3: year at all the camps and we have our final
- 40:38Speaker 3: One friday here At antipua At Nickels. State last, year
- 40:45Speaker 3: this was five years. AGO i did the numbers last.
- 40:47Speaker 3: Night we had eighteen guys that WOULD i would turn
- 40:53Speaker 3: him as tight ends this year signed up and it's
- 40:56Speaker 3: not all the numbers are all. In we have thirty
- 41:00Speaker 3: nine tight. ENDS, whoa that's a big jump at one.
- 41:05Speaker 3: Position and we see it in the high school. Ranks
- 41:08Speaker 3: and because they're, there you can you're going to get
- 41:11Speaker 3: them into the college. Ranks and then from the colleges
- 41:14Speaker 3: they go to the. Pros AND i talked to one of.
- 41:17Speaker 3: Them he came To louisiana line. Camp he was trying
- 41:20Speaker 3: to better his. Blocking and you know it's. Usual he's
- 41:25Speaker 3: six' for he's two hundred and. Eighteen pounds so you, play, Defense, son,
- 41:30Speaker 3: No coach i'm a. Tight end never. Play. Defense, no
- 41:34Speaker 3: wow what you got to? Be kidding? You do he,
- 41:38Speaker 3: was like, oh, no, oh no, HE said i just catched.
- 41:40Speaker 3: Them ball so it is what's happening across the football. Landscape, today, wow.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Okay, all right we'll leave.
- 41:52Speaker 1: IT there i had some other QUESTIONS that i wanted,
- 41:54Speaker 1: to ask but, with, well uh we'll do this.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Next week.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Levitt's, cleared uh he's played a ton. OF football i
- 42:03Speaker 1: think He and lane can get on the.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Same.
- 42:04Speaker 1: PAGE really i mean they're already working together like you
- 42:08Speaker 1: can on a. Daily basis and he's been studying for
- 42:12Speaker 1: months and. So on and this kid's probably twenty three
- 42:15Speaker 1: years old at. This Point so i'm expecting a big
- 42:18Speaker 1: Year from levit because he'll have three times more talent
