- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 3: He's nothing if not petty. Oh it's one of the
- 0:21Speaker 3: things I really like about him. And he keeps a
- 0:23Speaker 3: list of It's like he's like me and you.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I'm probably on it, but oh.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Well, I don't think there's much doctor that you and
- 0:29Speaker 3: I are on it.
- 0:30Speaker 2: We're getting ready of obviously, what are you doing over there?
- 0:33Speaker 3: I got some issues. Okay, I went to the doctor today.
- 0:35Speaker 4: I did.
- 0:35Speaker 3: That's what you did, and.
- 0:36Speaker 5: I took the thing off too soon.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I'm still bleed.
- 0:38Speaker 3: You're bleeding.
- 0:39Speaker 2: You're fine talking about the j E eleven Games with
- 0:42Speaker 2: Name podcasts two hours twenty minutes.
- 0:45Speaker 6: I am through in an hour and twenty minutes.
- 0:47Speaker 3: So I now look forward to this email to tell
- 0:49Speaker 3: me what I will never listen to.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I would would you insist your center shower before practice?
- 0:54Speaker 7: Yeah, especially with a loofa.
- 0:55Speaker 3: But it's unlikely that we have our small unit. Now
- 0:58Speaker 3: we have our big unit. You know. Good for you.
- 1:04Speaker 3: I think that was you on me.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I'm gonna figure Yeah, I mean you still got the
- 1:08Speaker 2: crank windows, Paul, you need to get a new come.
- 1:11Speaker 8: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:15Speaker 2: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com. All right, welcome
- 1:20Speaker 2: the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here at Jillette Stadium,
- 1:25Speaker 2: and we're live from our new studio. We've got our
- 1:28Speaker 2: five persons set up today because there's only three of
- 1:31Speaker 2: us picks. Yeah, we're gonna fill it in in. I
- 1:34Speaker 2: have an inducer in the locker room. It's Alex. Welcome Alex. Hello,
- 1:38Speaker 2: and I would say that your appearance on our Pics
- 1:41Speaker 2: Day is a sign of bravery considering last year's performing.
- 1:45Speaker 9: Well, I was wondering when I don't know who it was,
- 1:48Speaker 9: but whoever ordered four chairs for the studio. I took
- 1:51Speaker 9: that as oh, okay, they're threatened by my pis.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:55Speaker 10: I think they're trying to figure it out.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Okay, all right, but Alex is here for Picks Day,
- 2:01Speaker 2: Paul's here, I'm here, Matt's in the booth, and like
- 2:03Speaker 2: I said, Evan and Deuce will be here as soon
- 2:06Speaker 2: as they get done with the locker room.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Correct.
- 2:09Speaker 2: So it's Thursday, it's our last show before the Bengals,
- 2:12Speaker 2: not including the pregame show of course, And how are
- 2:16Speaker 2: we feeling any any news that we need to go
- 2:18Speaker 2: over personnel wise on the injury front, anything like that.
- 2:22Speaker 3: We did have the first injury report, yeah, came out,
- 2:25Speaker 3: and I think we sort of forecasted yesterday. We felt
- 2:29Speaker 3: City So would probably be a DNP and he was.
- 2:33Speaker 3: But you know, some questionable guys as well that we're
- 2:37Speaker 3: limited in their participation, guys like you know, Vederian Lowe
- 2:41Speaker 3: who I think got back on the practice field, Hunter
- 2:44Speaker 3: Henry dealing with a foot. We now know it's a
- 2:46Speaker 3: foot injury. I'm not sure that that had been reported, So,
- 2:50Speaker 3: you know, a couple of things to be concerned about.
- 2:52Speaker 3: We'll see, you know, as we move a little bit
- 2:54Speaker 3: later in the week heading to tomorrow, and we'll get
- 2:57Speaker 3: the game status.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Yep. A couple other Patriots news of note. There's a
- 3:03Speaker 2: kind of a report I guess about Christian Barmore that
- 3:07Speaker 2: the Patriots are preparing for him not to play this year,
- 3:11Speaker 2: that they're going to take it slow.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Did not see that.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Yeah, they're going to take it slow, and it wasn't
- 3:16Speaker 2: a definitive report that he will not play. But uh,
- 3:19Speaker 2: they're you know, they're getting there. They're wrapping their heads
- 3:21Speaker 2: around the fact that he may not.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Can you can you cite your source as you're doing that.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I'll add in one more element of the injury report
- 3:30Speaker 3: that made me chuckle yesterday was Jamar Chase for the
- 3:33Speaker 3: for the Bengals limited not injury related rest.
- 3:39Speaker 10: Likes here.
- 3:43Speaker 3: No, but obviously they they were, you know, sort of
- 3:45Speaker 3: not throwing him in one, which is kind of what
- 3:49Speaker 3: I was talking about. It's just really hard to imagine
- 3:51Speaker 3: he's going to be anywhere near one hundred percent to
- 3:53Speaker 3: play in the first game after not having done anything.
- 3:56Speaker 6: It would be a great message for the league if
- 3:58Speaker 6: he just stepped right in on the winds.
- 4:00Speaker 5: The coaches would be like, that's not what we're looking
- 4:02Speaker 5: It's great.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Trent Williams is going to dominate, Brandon Ayuk is going
- 4:06Speaker 3: to dominate, and Jamar Chase is going to dominate. That's
- 4:08Speaker 3: not what coaches are on the league are hoping for
- 4:10Speaker 3: now all of training camp.
- 4:12Speaker 6: So yeah, I just got back from locker room. Hello everyone,
- 4:15Speaker 6: Good to see you here, Good to see the desk.
- 4:17Speaker 3: So, Mike, did you see the report or not really
- 4:20Speaker 3: a report, but sort of an allusion to the Patriots
- 4:23Speaker 3: are prepared to take it slow with bar Moore, oh
- 4:26Speaker 3: and not expecting him to play this.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I think it was a national. I think it was Pelasaro,
- 4:30Speaker 2: but I'm okay, I'm efforting that right.
- 4:32Speaker 9: I just saw the one where they were prepared to
- 4:34Speaker 9: pay him for his salary, which isn't entirely I don't know,
- 4:38Speaker 9: is that surprising.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I know it would be no, no, I mean team
- 4:42Speaker 3: I mean and also I'm not trying to be like
- 4:43Speaker 3: critical of the opponent that we're playing, like a team
- 4:45Speaker 3: like Cincinnati that has notoriously cheap ownership. Arizona would be
- 4:50Speaker 3: another one I would put. You know, maybe you'd see,
- 4:53Speaker 3: but I think really thirty two out of thirty two
- 4:55Speaker 3: would pay this one.
- 4:56Speaker 6: It's a good way to lose them player again, like
- 4:58Speaker 6: Nicol and Donald over now. But it was good to
- 5:01Speaker 6: see him in the locker room. Didn't see him there today.
- 5:03Speaker 6: But for those wondering, we asked Jabil Peppers about it.
- 5:06Speaker 6: You know, he had one of the Guardian cat like
- 5:08Speaker 6: covers on yesterday in practice.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Oh forrad, go ahead, it's Jeremy Fowler ESPN quote the
- 5:14Speaker 2: Patriots are bracing for the possibility that defensive tackle Christian Barber,
- 5:18Speaker 2: who's on reserve slash non injury Football injury list while
- 5:22Speaker 2: being treated for blood clots, won't play this season. New
- 5:26Speaker 2: England doesn't want to rush his recovery by any stretch.
- 5:29Speaker 2: If he makes it back, great, but the team won't
- 5:31Speaker 2: push it. He's a long term asset.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I have a question, is it is it a very
- 5:36Speaker 3: odd report?
- 5:37Speaker 2: Is it Jeremy Fowler recovery though, or is.
- 5:39Speaker 3: It something he's not coming back off of blood clots.
- 5:42Speaker 3: He has to figure out how to manage it, manage
- 5:45Speaker 3: the blood clots.
- 5:45Speaker 9: And a lot of times, just from my experience, I
- 5:48Speaker 9: know people who have dealt with like pulmonary emblems, embolisms
- 5:52Speaker 9: and embolisms a hard one, like you're sometimes on a
- 5:57Speaker 9: blood dinner for life, you know. So it's you wonder
- 6:01Speaker 9: if it's like a comfort thing with him or if
- 6:03Speaker 9: they're kind of modeling the David Andrews.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Right, and whatever they do to sort of rectify the
- 6:08Speaker 3: situation is going to need to take place. For I
- 6:12Speaker 3: would imagine a significant amount of time not only to
- 6:17Speaker 3: alleviate the blood clots themselves, but to feel to figure out.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Like to your point, Alex about blood dinners, NFL players
- 6:24Speaker 3: really can't be on blood dinners. That would be that
- 6:28Speaker 3: would be very dangerous.
- 6:29Speaker 2: And I guess once they get it to where they
- 6:30Speaker 2: think it should be, then it's a build up to
- 6:33Speaker 2: strenuous activity. Yeah, you know so, so it's a process,
- 6:38Speaker 2: and I get it that it's probably going to take
- 6:41Speaker 2: months just to get to the point where you're you're you're.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Confident about it.
- 6:50Speaker 2: So you're not a surprising report at all.
- 6:54Speaker 6: No, I mean, I really, I mean I think there's
- 6:55Speaker 6: a is there a chance that he's never going to
- 6:57Speaker 6: play again? I mean I think that's probably on the.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Table, right I hope not.
- 7:00Speaker 6: I hope not too. Yeah, but unfortunate, Yeah, they usually
- 7:05Speaker 6: can figure out a solution.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I'm not fear I shouldn't say I'm not fearful. I mean,
- 7:10Speaker 3: there's always concerned, but I'm not fearful necessarily that he
- 7:13Speaker 3: will never play again. But I am not hopeful that
- 7:16Speaker 3: he will play this year.
- 7:17Speaker 6: All right, And we interrupted you about I was joking.
- 7:20Speaker 6: I mean, I was just joking about Pepers. He had
- 7:22Speaker 6: on the big you know, cover over the guarding cup
- 7:25Speaker 6: with the logo on it. Which so of course, Uh.
- 7:27Speaker 3: So that's what that's what the players are gonna wear
- 7:30Speaker 3: if they wear him in games. Yeah, they'll have a
- 7:31Speaker 3: cover one with a with a logo on it.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:33Speaker 3: So, I mean it looks a little bit big. I
- 7:35Speaker 3: mean it is a little bit like.
- 7:36Speaker 6: Who is the Bills guy that used to wear the
- 7:38Speaker 6: Kelso Mark Kelso? Mark Kelso. But he said he was
- 7:41Speaker 6: just kind of trying it out and it's the great
- 7:43Speaker 6: you know. I was just gonna say, because.
- 7:45Speaker 2: I thought the Flintstone Flintstone's reference.
- 7:48Speaker 6: Bart went like right over to him, like, you know
- 7:50Speaker 6: about the helmetuse Bar is a big helmet guy. So
- 7:52Speaker 6: so he got to the bottom of it. But but no,
- 7:55Speaker 6: kind of a quiet day in the locker room, I
- 7:56Speaker 6: would say, wasn't uh you know, we talked to Jilanie
- 7:58Speaker 6: to buy He was really the only guy who was
- 8:00Speaker 6: speaking before I cut out, But kind of quiet.
- 8:02Speaker 3: So after Alex and I we're just talking about how
- 8:04Speaker 3: you know, everybody's in the locker room and everybody's like well,
- 8:08Speaker 3: and then you're like.
- 8:10Speaker 9: They're like locked in ready to go to practice. It's
- 8:12Speaker 9: a different vibe than previous years that I'm used to.
- 8:16Speaker 6: Yeah, it was still a huge contingent. Though huge contingent.
- 8:19Speaker 6: I mean just there's so many media people just clogging
- 8:22Speaker 6: the whole center of the of the locker room, and
- 8:25Speaker 6: you got guys coming out of team meetings like excuse me,
- 8:27Speaker 6: excuse me, you know, kind of getting trying to get
- 8:29Speaker 6: through and stuff. So it's definitely a different feel. But again,
- 8:33Speaker 6: love it that we've gotten.
- 8:34Speaker 3: That out of the way.
- 8:35Speaker 6: We don't have to sit around until five thirty.
- 8:38Speaker 3: And we got to hear Freddy from DeMarcus Covington today
- 8:42Speaker 3: and a handful of the defensive assistants.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Ye, including Brian Belichick.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yeah, Brian Belichick, Mike Pellegrino, Jerry Montgomery, Dante high Tower,
- 8:53Speaker 3: and Drew Wilkins.
- 8:54Speaker 6: Wilkins, Yeah, nailed it.
- 8:56Speaker 4: Good job. Yeah.
- 8:57Speaker 6: I went in right to Brian asking them a little
- 9:00Speaker 6: about the safety group. Kind of interesting. I thought his
- 9:02Speaker 6: answer about del Pettis because somebody asked them about del
- 9:05Speaker 6: Pettis and I asked him about Hawkins, and then his
- 9:08Speaker 6: response to Pettis was one of those where he's got
- 9:12Speaker 6: a he's got a ways to go, you know. It
- 9:13Speaker 6: was it was like, well, he's just got to keep improving,
- 9:15Speaker 6: and you know, I think he's probably a guy that
- 9:18Speaker 6: that might get scratched, but but very complimentary of Hawkins
- 9:22Speaker 6: as a you know, as a free agent coming in
- 9:24Speaker 6: and being able to understand the system and you know,
- 9:27Speaker 6: just kind of ingratiating himself to the to the room
- 9:29Speaker 6: and everything. So he had hit some high praise for for.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I was in on Mike Pellegrino, and one of
- 9:35Speaker 3: the topics that I've sort of been concerned about all
- 9:38Speaker 3: summer is depth at that spot. He obviously is a
- 9:43Speaker 3: little bit higher in the situation as the coach than
- 9:46Speaker 3: than most of us would be. But he did say
- 9:48Speaker 3: which I thought was interesting, you know, if these guys
- 9:52Speaker 3: are active on game day, this are a really good
- 9:55Speaker 3: chances they're going to play. Yeah, so I think you're
- 9:57Speaker 3: going to see a lot of bodies out there in
- 9:59Speaker 3: the secondary on Sunday. Yeah.
- 10:02Speaker 6: Yeah, we else Drew Wilkins. I got in on him
- 10:05Speaker 6: too a little bit, but asked him about tonight's game
- 10:07Speaker 6: because you know, he came from Baltimore. Very I said,
- 10:09Speaker 6: he was very excited for Zach Orr, who I think
- 10:11Speaker 6: he said he coached. I know he was a player
- 10:13Speaker 6: I think there, but taking over his defensive coordinator and
- 10:16Speaker 6: now he gets to deal with Patrick Mahomes and all that.
- 10:20Speaker 4: It's good.
- 10:20Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to the game tonight though. Sure, yeah, it.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Should be a good match up. I hope it.
- 10:26Speaker 3: I hope it pans out to be a good matchup,
- 10:28Speaker 3: you know, one that keeps my attention for the second half.
- 10:30Speaker 3: A lot of times, Grandpa's got to go to.
- 10:32Speaker 6: Back, I grandpa, grandson, anybody. I had to go back
- 10:36Speaker 6: and like remind myself of the AFC Championship game. I
- 10:38Speaker 6: don't know, I kind of I don't have your steel
- 10:39Speaker 6: trap memory on those games, but I had to take
- 10:42Speaker 6: that one go back and.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Look, I didn't see it because I was that was
- 10:45Speaker 3: the day of the football banquet, yeah for Fenwick, So
- 10:47Speaker 3: I didn't even see that game, So I don't have
- 10:49Speaker 3: a steel trap. It was funny.
- 10:50Speaker 6: My only takeaway was like Kansas City scored two touchdowns
- 10:53Speaker 6: on their first possession and then really didn't do much
- 10:55Speaker 6: else and that was that was enough. But uh yeah,
- 10:58Speaker 6: two good, really good teams in the good way to
- 11:00Speaker 6: kick the season off. So Philadelphia and Green Bay landed
- 11:03Speaker 6: and down in Brazil. Are they like sending video back
- 11:08Speaker 6: to the States And then someone has to tweet it
- 11:10Speaker 6: out from the state.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Okay, So what you're talking about is x is banned
- 11:15Speaker 2: from Brazil, so you can't access Twitter from any ip
- 11:20Speaker 2: in that country. So if you want to post to Twitter,
- 11:23Speaker 2: you have to post it from the US.
- 11:25Speaker 3: You know.
- 11:25Speaker 2: But but who's gonna who's gonna see it? If you
- 11:28Speaker 2: can't access Twitter?
- 11:29Speaker 6: What's the point no Eve in Brazil?
- 11:31Speaker 2: Right right? Yeah?
- 11:32Speaker 6: But the team, So I mean, that's assume what what
- 11:34Speaker 6: we would do, the teams would do just you know,
- 11:35Speaker 6: you got to send us back the videos and no.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I just I told people just go to Instagram. I said,
- 11:41Speaker 2: put on Twitter, follow us on Instagram for now, and
- 11:44Speaker 2: and just put everything on Instagram and Facebook, and don't
- 11:47Speaker 2: worry about Twitter right now. I mean, there's no sense
- 11:50Speaker 2: pissing off the government they find. They they say that
- 11:54Speaker 2: Twitter isn't doing a good enough job regulating itself. For uh,
- 11:58Speaker 2: they said, child exploitation is one of the categories, also misinformation.
- 12:04Speaker 2: They're not doing a good enough job, you know.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Uh, it's funny that they would pick one like to me,
- 12:09Speaker 3: that's you just described social media to me.
- 12:12Speaker 9: Well, I think it got I think Twitter is getting
- 12:14Speaker 9: whooped in with Telegram and I don't think Elon has
- 12:17Speaker 9: been very complimentary of the Brazilian Prime minister.
- 12:22Speaker 3: It's personal that makes more sense.
- 12:24Speaker 6: What's telegram?
- 12:25Speaker 10: I never heard telegram is probably good that you don't
- 12:27Speaker 10: know about telegram.
- 12:28Speaker 5: No, I don't need to know about a great place.
- 12:31Speaker 3: It's a it's a swamp.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Yeah, anyway, So yeah, that's that's going on in Brazil
- 12:41Speaker 2: right now.
- 12:41Speaker 3: In terms of Twitter complications.
- 12:44Speaker 6: There the teams, but.
- 12:46Speaker 3: In my mind minor like who cares?
- 12:48Speaker 6: I saw it. Speaking of social I saw one other
- 12:50Speaker 6: thing that I liked was DeVante Adams clapping back at
- 12:53Speaker 6: the social team of the Chargers for you know, I
- 12:57Speaker 6: think they put up a during not I think their
- 13:00Speaker 6: actual schedule release, but they did like pop tarts or something,
- 13:02Speaker 6: and they made like DeVante Adams being like trash, and
- 13:05Speaker 6: he just went off on like how much he's torched
- 13:06Speaker 6: their team and how terrible their team is.
- 13:08Speaker 3: And like they're stupid social.
- 13:10Speaker 7: People that you know went after him a little bit silent.
- 13:12Speaker 6: I like that.
- 13:12Speaker 10: I'm surprised you don't see more of that. Players going ongerial.
- 13:16Speaker 7: And bombs at everybody and it's.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Like they really do you hear about the Uh, we're
- 13:23Speaker 2: kind of talking about NFL stuff right now, the VP
- 13:26Speaker 2: of content, I guess my counterparts from the commanders. Oh good,
- 13:30Speaker 2: Bob got caught in a little sting operation.
- 13:32Speaker 7: What was that like?
- 13:33Speaker 6: Was that like a hidden video kind of thing where
- 13:35Speaker 6: he was just like.
- 13:36Speaker 3: So, did you do any research on this, Freddy? Yeah?
- 13:38Speaker 11: I did.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Can that person go to prison? Can that company be.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Like the laws of the States or wherever it happened told.
- 13:46Speaker 3: It's a two party yeah.
- 13:47Speaker 6: Oh is it recording without consent?
- 13:49Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 13:50Speaker 2: It could be. So the company that did it, it's
- 13:52Speaker 2: o keith Media.
- 13:54Speaker 3: I think they should be uh yeah, shut down first
- 13:57Speaker 3: of all, well but also prosecuted.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I think that's in a former life. They were the
- 14:03Speaker 2: founder of o'keef. This guy started this thing called the
- 14:06Speaker 2: Veritas Project and they did the same thing. It was
- 14:09Speaker 2: politically based, and they shut them down. Uh, and now
- 14:12Speaker 2: he's re you know, uh resurrected himself as O'Keefe Media
- 14:18Speaker 2: and now they're doing the same thing.
- 14:20Speaker 9: But it's so weird with like their history of like
- 14:23Speaker 9: being mostly politics and why are you going after the.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Random gave him a little money under the table.
- 14:32Speaker 10: You never know, that's that's just missed.
- 14:34Speaker 9: That's something I hadn't considered, but that was that makes
- 14:38Speaker 9: a lot more sense.
- 14:39Speaker 2: But you know, so the question is like, Okay, so
- 14:42Speaker 2: the guy, I think he thought he was on a date,
- 14:46Speaker 2: so he so I feel bad. He's trying to act like,
- 14:51Speaker 2: you know, I'm mister cool, and she's obviously like feeding
- 14:55Speaker 2: him questions and.
- 14:56Speaker 10: It sounded like an interview, like how did he not
- 14:58Speaker 10: pick up on it?
- 15:00Speaker 7: Like she was probably hot.
- 15:02Speaker 12: And.
- 15:04Speaker 10: I feel like she's just trying to pull this in and.
- 15:06Speaker 3: She probably waited until the second drink.
- 15:09Speaker 7: Stupid Alex for every time.
- 15:12Speaker 9: I know.
- 15:13Speaker 3: So I'm just glad I'm not young and dating.
- 15:17Speaker 7: She wasn't.
- 15:18Speaker 6: No, it's a dude, the one that was I'm looking
- 15:24Speaker 6: at the wrong thing, sorry.
- 15:25Speaker 3: The one who was interviewing.
- 15:26Speaker 6: I'm looking at the Twitter post of the video. It
- 15:29Speaker 6: was definitely as the restaurant getting grilled.
- 15:32Speaker 3: But I I mean, I know, you're responsible for what
- 15:36Speaker 3: you say, and I get all that crap. And he
- 15:38Speaker 3: said some things that you know you can't say now
- 15:41Speaker 3: because you can't express your opinion on things.
- 15:44Speaker 2: But he's representing the company.
- 15:45Speaker 3: That guy should be I mean that that company should
- 15:48Speaker 3: be in jail. That like, that woman should be in
- 15:51Speaker 3: prison for doing that. I think that is so far
- 15:53Speaker 3: over the line, so unethical, Like you're supposed to have
- 15:57Speaker 3: some kind of standard, and this is what it's becomes.
- 16:03Speaker 3: We just got you well, I got to get you down,
- 16:07Speaker 3: like I hate it.
- 16:09Speaker 2: I look on the bottom when this guy, the guy
- 16:11Speaker 2: that owns the company is introducing the segment on the bottom,
- 16:14Speaker 2: the crawl is sign up to be uh something rat. Yeah,
- 16:19Speaker 2: basically that's what it is. And so they're look, they're
- 16:21Speaker 2: recruiting people to do this stuff, you know.
- 16:25Speaker 3: And this guy got suspended. My guess is he probably
- 16:29Speaker 3: will get fired.
- 16:30Speaker 9: Probably, but like you said, if it's a two consent
- 16:33Speaker 9: state ken they were talking about on the right, because.
- 16:36Speaker 10: Then I think he could turn around and maybe sue
- 16:39Speaker 10: the commander.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Oh well, no, he wouldn't sue the commanders. He would
- 16:42Speaker 2: sue that this company.
- 16:43Speaker 10: But if he got fires, well and.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Then he do both, he's fired and sue them for
- 16:48Speaker 2: wrong ful termination.
- 16:49Speaker 10: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 16:50Speaker 2: That's why they haven't fired him yet. Probably working.
- 16:53Speaker 10: They got to figure it out down with the legal team.
- 16:56Speaker 6: Oh my god, I missed the headphone.
- 16:57Speaker 10: This world is social media. Did you guys see that?
- 17:02Speaker 3: Hell?
- 17:02Speaker 9: Is frozen over Bill Belichick's on Instagram.
- 17:06Speaker 6: Byron was asked about that today and uh, you know
- 17:08Speaker 6: he he just kind of said, I'm glad he's getting
- 17:10Speaker 6: out there, and you know, he said he was a
- 17:12Speaker 6: little bit surprised too.
- 17:13Speaker 5: I want honest opinion.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Yeah, thoughts on sort of this, the Bill Belichick media,
- 17:20Speaker 3: the blitz, the blitz of Belichick.
- 17:22Speaker 10: I have actually just been informed that the VP of
- 17:24Speaker 10: content was fired.
- 17:27Speaker 5: I figured that was coming. I didn't think he would
- 17:29Speaker 5: survive that.
- 17:30Speaker 2: You got you have a direct call. Somebody called you
- 17:32Speaker 2: from the commanders a show.
- 17:36Speaker 3: I'm not not overly surprised. What what di would you say?
- 17:41Speaker 3: I was asking your thoughts on the Bill BELLI.
- 17:44Speaker 2: So obviously this probably there's probably an influence there that
- 17:49Speaker 2: is helping him with all of this. I doubt that
- 17:52Speaker 2: he's on his phone two thumbs make posting this stuff.
- 17:58Speaker 2: I was talking to somebody today who was convinced that
- 18:00Speaker 2: he will not coach again. That teams know that at
- 18:04Speaker 2: seventy three or whatever his age is, you know, Tiger
- 18:08Speaker 2: doesn't change their stripes. And I said, well, maybe this
- 18:11Speaker 2: whole tour is to show people that he is willing
- 18:14Speaker 2: to change his stripes, and he's worth it.
- 18:16Speaker 3: I haven't seen anything yet that shows that. I mean, well,
- 18:19Speaker 3: going on Instagram, you don't think that's willing, you know.
- 18:22Speaker 3: I think you just answered that question. He's not on Instagram, no,
- 18:25Speaker 3: but on Instagram, but he's willing to be part of it.
- 18:29Speaker 2: He's willing to be party to it.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I think changed. No, No, I've got these clips
- 18:37Speaker 3: and stuff that are you know, because we can see
- 18:39Speaker 3: Twitter here, I've seen some of these clips. He's the
- 18:42Speaker 3: same guy. It's it's the same drab monotony.
- 18:45Speaker 2: It is it is, and I get that, and I agree.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I think, you know, some of the football stuff he's
- 18:52Speaker 2: doing is going to get a little boring after a
- 18:54Speaker 2: while because it is the same thing. But being on
- 18:57Speaker 2: Instagram is a change. Being willing to say this is
- 19:02Speaker 2: my account, what's on this account?
- 19:05Speaker 3: Did you hear did you hear it?
- 19:07Speaker 2: I know I heard it, whether or not I actually
- 19:10Speaker 2: posted it, I'm willing to say this is me. I
- 19:13Speaker 2: think that's a change.
- 19:14Speaker 5: Okay, so we'll call it a change.
- 19:15Speaker 3: I just don't think it's a change in his coach
- 19:17Speaker 3: like him, it's not really a change in like his beliefs,
- 19:21Speaker 3: his coaching, his attitude, his thoughts on football. But that's
- 19:26Speaker 3: to me what I would need to see a change
- 19:28Speaker 3: with if I was an owner. But do you still
- 19:30Speaker 3: believe that you have to win seventeen thirteen? Do you
- 19:32Speaker 3: still believe you need to be in charge of all
- 19:34Speaker 3: personnel decisions? Do you still believe your wags the only way? Like, oh,
- 19:38Speaker 3: oh you're on Instagram? Now that is That's what I'm
- 19:43Speaker 3: talking about.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Oh, and I one hundred percent agree with you. But
- 19:46Speaker 2: the other thing that people said about him, true or false,
- 19:50Speaker 2: it doesn't you know. But they say is he's not
- 19:52Speaker 2: up with the times. He's not in tune with the
- 19:55Speaker 2: modern athlete, the younger athlete. And so that's part of
- 19:58Speaker 2: it too, you know.
- 20:00Speaker 3: So and what has he done to illustrate the modern.
- 20:04Speaker 2: And I have I have an Instagram account?
- 20:06Speaker 3: Now, hi everyone, I'm not it's been a while, but
- 20:12Speaker 3: I had a chance to speak to you.
- 20:14Speaker 2: I think I think this is part of showing that, yeah,
- 20:18Speaker 2: I'm going to recognize that this is a thing. I
- 20:21Speaker 2: can't just ignore it. I'm going to be part of it.
- 20:24Speaker 2: So you know, here I am defending Bill Belichick.
- 20:27Speaker 5: Now why shouldn't you defend Bill?
- 20:29Speaker 3: But what did you say it like that.
- 20:30Speaker 4: For No, I wouldn't.
- 20:33Speaker 3: I find myself defending Bill Belichick. There's nothing wrong with
- 20:37Speaker 3: defending the guy who won six Super Bowls for the
- 20:39Speaker 3: organizations that never never apologize for that. That no, that
- 20:42Speaker 3: you can also criticize him too.
- 20:44Speaker 2: And that's why I think I'm you know, I'm not
- 20:47Speaker 2: willing to criticize him in this because I think that
- 20:49Speaker 2: this is why he's doing it.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Now.
- 20:52Speaker 2: You know, do I think that I'm going to get
- 20:54Speaker 2: uncomfortable looking at some of these posts. Yeah, I think
- 20:56Speaker 2: it's going to get a little awkward.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Can't be any more uncomfortable than that little introduction.
- 21:01Speaker 6: I've just been disappointed with the content that he's produced
- 21:04Speaker 6: because I mean, I was actually like looking forward to
- 21:07Speaker 6: what I love When he goes and does a breakdown
- 21:11Speaker 6: like that, and you watch the inside the NFL and
- 21:13Speaker 6: he's breaking down like the Super Bowl pre parties here
- 21:16Speaker 6: at that, you know, it's like what what like he's
- 21:17Speaker 6: I don't know, I just it seems like he's trying
- 21:19Speaker 6: to be a little bit too fun there. I just
- 21:21Speaker 6: I want to see him be Bill and do the
- 21:23Speaker 6: film stuff and break it down. And I the thought
- 21:25Speaker 6: I had with all this stuff is. I'm like, maybe
- 21:26Speaker 6: could we just give him Bill a sabbatical, Like, we
- 21:28Speaker 6: just give him a sabbatical year, go out, join Instagram,
- 21:32Speaker 6: try some TV, see how the other half lives.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Open up to the rest of get out of them.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Sit down with Bill and say, Okay, Bill, this is
- 21:39Speaker 3: what you need to do. This is you know, stay
- 21:41Speaker 3: go on this platform, stay off that black web, you know,
- 21:44Speaker 3: the dark web, Stay off tehone. We don't need no telegram,
- 21:47Speaker 3: we don't need any of that. But this is what
- 21:49Speaker 3: we're gonna We're gonna rehab your imagery. And I think
- 21:51Speaker 3: someone is I'm joking, like to me, it's the change
- 21:57Speaker 3: needs to be about his coaching, philosophy and what not. Yeah,
- 22:01Speaker 3: Like has a publicity stunt with Pat mcavee and Instagram.
- 22:05Speaker 2: That's that is, you know, up to him to convince perspective.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Uh did you did you guys that he's doing that.
- 22:12Speaker 6: Of him talking about the Patriots a little bit with
- 22:14Speaker 6: Maddy p That.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Yeah, we saw that and it's the same stuff that
- 22:17Speaker 2: he's you know, it looked like a Wednesday It's looked
- 22:20Speaker 2: like a Wednesday press conference talking about the Jets and
- 22:23Speaker 2: all the talent that they have. But the one nugget
- 22:25Speaker 2: that I pulled out of that is when he was
- 22:27Speaker 2: going down their roster talking about the offense, he said,
- 22:29Speaker 2: you know, they've got a good quarterback in Rogers blah blah,
- 22:32Speaker 2: and then they've got a great wide receiver and Garrett
- 22:36Speaker 2: Wilson and Brice Hall. And I thought it was interesting
- 22:39Speaker 2: that he used the adjective good.
- 22:41Speaker 6: I think Aaron Rodgers probably right with.
- 22:44Speaker 2: The other two right, you know, right after each other,
- 22:47Speaker 2: so we.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Know that he was great. I mean, I think he
- 22:50Speaker 3: would have left Brady for Aaron Rodgers. He wanted to
- 22:52Speaker 3: marry him.
- 22:53Speaker 6: That might.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I was completely convinced sort of heading into the off
- 22:59Speaker 3: season that Bill very very badly wanted to get back
- 23:04Speaker 3: in and coach again. And now I'm I'm not saying
- 23:08Speaker 3: that he doesn't, but I'm not as convinced as I was.
- 23:12Speaker 3: I'm not sure. I'm wondering if he's doing all these
- 23:14Speaker 3: things just to figure out what he likes and he'll
- 23:18Speaker 3: pick a lane.
- 23:18Speaker 10: He's really putting himself out there. He's got more.
- 23:21Speaker 7: He's a guy after a breakup, like.
- 23:24Speaker 6: Well, he's got a new girl, He's he died his eyebrows.
- 23:29Speaker 5: Living his best life.
- 23:32Speaker 2: He's being his best self.
- 23:33Speaker 3: But it was like the j LO this is me now,
- 23:38Speaker 3: don't talk about am I sorry?
- 23:41Speaker 9: Your girl has gone through it, least going through it.
- 23:46Speaker 3: That's why I never worked out for us wants.
- 23:49Speaker 10: He's too neurotic for you.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Yeah, but I do.
- 23:51Speaker 6: Worry, though, is Bill going to be kind of hanging
- 23:53Speaker 6: over our head all year? And you know what, what
- 23:56Speaker 6: are the patriot breakdowns going to be like? And and
- 23:58Speaker 6: you know what are this subtle jabs?
- 24:00Speaker 3: And you know it's just I think I'm going to
- 24:02Speaker 3: start off like that, Mike. I don't think it's going
- 24:04Speaker 3: to be like that. He'll don't say I don't think
- 24:06Speaker 3: there's any there there.
- 24:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:08Speaker 3: And I think after like two or three weeks, people
- 24:09Speaker 3: are gonna be like, well that's it. Yeah, They're going
- 24:12Speaker 3: to move on to something else in front.
- 24:13Speaker 6: Of I do hope though, that we get to see
- 24:15Speaker 6: the bill that I enjoyed the most, which, like I said,
- 24:18Speaker 6: was that Friday press conference bill where you know, he'll
- 24:20Speaker 6: give you football history, he'll go, you know, in a
- 24:22Speaker 6: deep dive on a player or something like that. Those
- 24:24Speaker 6: are the things that I find fascinating, not him trying
- 24:26Speaker 6: to fit in with inside the NFL where they're all
- 24:29Speaker 6: cool and they're hanging out and they're you know, making
- 24:31Speaker 6: jokes and stuff, and it's like he just wants to
- 24:32Speaker 6: talk football. You know what I want to do this.
- 24:34Speaker 3: I want to know what he really thinks. Yeah, I
- 24:37Speaker 3: want to know what he really thinks. And yeah, none
- 24:40Speaker 3: of them ever thinks is showing what he really thinks.
- 24:42Speaker 3: You're never going to get that. Yeah, you know when
- 24:46Speaker 3: he's when he's talking like on Friday, like Mike sort
- 24:50Speaker 3: of likes the the references in what he's talking about.
- 24:55Speaker 3: I like it because that's what he really thinks about.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Like Mark, Yeah, yeah, you know you.
- 25:03Speaker 5: You know, this is the guy like you guys think
- 25:05Speaker 5: this tight end?
- 25:06Speaker 3: What do I tell you about Mark Bravarro? You know,
- 25:08Speaker 3: Like that's what he really thinks in l T in
- 25:12Speaker 3: all of those giants, guys, I'm not I just I
- 25:16Speaker 3: don't think we're going to get that. That's why I
- 25:17Speaker 3: was like, what do you really think about Drake May?
- 25:20Speaker 6: Yeah, that's why he was so good on that NFL
- 25:21Speaker 6: Top one hundred because it was historical players that he
- 25:24Speaker 6: could just open up about and you know, go on
- 25:27Speaker 6: and on about what made these guys you know, you're
- 25:29Speaker 6: seeing like this black and white sixteen millimeters film go by,
- 25:32Speaker 6: and you know, him him showing what what made him
- 25:34Speaker 6: so special, just his you know, encyclopedic knowledge of the
- 25:38Speaker 6: NFL and NFL history.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Well, we're going to be hearing about what he says
- 25:41Speaker 2: about the Patriots all season, I'm sure.
- 25:43Speaker 6: I'm sure.
- 25:45Speaker 2: So getting back to the Patriots in this game coming
- 25:48Speaker 2: up against the Bengals, a lot of people say, if
- 25:51Speaker 2: you're going to play the Bengals, this is the week
- 25:53Speaker 2: to do it, week one because they're historically slow starters
- 25:59Speaker 2: with Joe Burrow. And you know that's true, but the
- 26:02Speaker 2: Patriots have been slow start as recently as well. Fair enough,
- 26:05Speaker 2: you know, it's a battle of slow starters.
- 26:08Speaker 3: I guess, yeah.
- 26:09Speaker 6: I just I don't put too much stock in that.
- 26:11Speaker 6: I mean, I just think every year is a new year. Yeah,
- 26:13Speaker 6: And I mean Paul has pointed out, you know, the
- 26:14Speaker 6: different ailments that I mean, he is only injury report too,
- 26:17Speaker 6: so I don't know if he's quite one hundred percent,
- 26:19Speaker 6: but I'm fully expecting to get his best. And you know,
- 26:23Speaker 6: looking back at those games from from twenty twenty two,
- 26:26Speaker 6: who just I'd like to get into it with Evan
- 26:28Speaker 6: today about that, because I've been going on that game
- 26:30Speaker 6: and I think he still has a little bit more
- 26:32Speaker 6: of a positive impression of that of that Patriots lost
- 26:35Speaker 6: to the Bengals than I do.
- 26:36Speaker 3: But I mean he barely pletely, like eighty percent of
- 26:39Speaker 3: his life was a massacre. You know, it was only
- 26:42Speaker 3: only because of the stuff that you're hoping for. Sunday,
- 26:45Speaker 3: the games stayed close. You're hoping for what Fred's talking about,
- 26:48Speaker 3: Like they're not ready at the start of the season.
- 26:51Speaker 3: They're sloppy with the ball, and they turn it over
- 26:53Speaker 3: three times and miss a field goal or an extra
- 26:55Speaker 3: point or two, and they keep you in the game.
- 26:58Speaker 3: That's what you're hoping for. That's what the mean. Even
- 27:01Speaker 3: Callegrino talked about it today.
- 27:03Speaker 6: It had almost three hundred yards passing in the first half,
- 27:04Speaker 6: and then they kind of took their foot off the gas.
- 27:06Speaker 6: But then it was a couple of specific plays where
- 27:09Speaker 6: I mean Mac Jones throws like a forty nine yard
- 27:11Speaker 6: pass that like bounces off someone and into Jacobe Meyers.
- 27:14Speaker 3: That's how they got back in the game. And that,
- 27:16Speaker 3: by the way, was like a fourth and twenty six.
- 27:18Speaker 3: It was a fourth and twenty something threw it up
- 27:21Speaker 3: and he just threw it up. It was a hil
- 27:22Speaker 3: Mary went off of that other guy, Scotty Washington.
- 27:25Speaker 6: That's probably what it is. Paul still trapping.
- 27:28Speaker 3: That's right, that's a plot right there, like some guy
- 27:31Speaker 3: that came up off the practice squad. Myers catches it
- 27:34Speaker 3: for a touchdown and suddenly like the Bengals are like,
- 27:36Speaker 3: how do we get in this close game? What do
- 27:38Speaker 3: you like?
- 27:38Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 27:39Speaker 3: How do we get here?
- 27:39Speaker 4: Is this?
- 27:40Speaker 3: And all of a sudden, you know, they turned one
- 27:42Speaker 3: drive together. At the end of the one drive, they
- 27:44Speaker 3: went down and then they follwed it.
- 27:46Speaker 6: So such his life.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Listen, I'm you know, we'll get to our picks in
- 27:50Speaker 2: the last segment of our show, but I'm I'm looking
- 27:54Speaker 2: forward to, for whatever reason, a competitive game, I hope.
- 27:59Speaker 6: So yeah, I mean, it's I think, as we said yesterday,
- 28:02Speaker 6: just don't don't beat yourself, like give yourself a chance.
- 28:04Speaker 6: I mean, and that's just the baseline, because if you
- 28:06Speaker 6: go in there and you turn the ball over, you know,
- 28:08Speaker 6: three four times, and you've got a bunch of false
- 28:10Speaker 6: starts that are putting you in third and long, and
- 28:12Speaker 6: you know, you're just you can't get out of your
- 28:14Speaker 6: own way. And I feel like that's how I felt
- 28:16Speaker 6: about the Patriots of the last you know, two seasons.
- 28:18Speaker 6: It's is they couldn't get out of their own way.
- 28:19Speaker 6: I don't even know how good they really were because
- 28:21Speaker 6: a lot of it, they just never really gave themselves
- 28:23Speaker 6: a chance to be competitive in those games. And I
- 28:25Speaker 6: mean even going back to that game, as we just
- 28:26Speaker 6: ran right through, it was like, hey, you got a
- 28:28Speaker 6: chance to win. And that's like an old school Patriots
- 28:30Speaker 6: style of winning. You pull out a game that you
- 28:32Speaker 6: probably shouldn't have won and then they fumbled.
- 28:34Speaker 7: I mean how many times you see.
- 28:35Speaker 6: That against Miami, you know, in twenty twenty one, Like
- 28:37Speaker 6: same kind of thing, Like that's that's been who this
- 28:40Speaker 6: Patriots team is. I just like to get away from
- 28:42Speaker 6: that mistake laden team that can't get out of their
- 28:45Speaker 6: own way.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. Pela Greeno talked about that game against Cincinnati
- 28:50Speaker 3: today and he said specifically goes like, yeah, yeah, we
- 28:53Speaker 3: went back and watched that they hit us in the
- 28:55Speaker 3: like right out of the gate. We couldn't stop six
- 28:58Speaker 3: plays right down the field. You know, obviously their game
- 29:01Speaker 3: plan was very successful against us. Early on. We couldn't
- 29:04Speaker 3: do anything to stop them. Like that's how the Patriots
- 29:08Speaker 3: defensive coach described the game. So I think I think
- 29:13Speaker 3: time will tell us might Yeah, you and I had
- 29:15Speaker 3: a better sort of.
- 29:16Speaker 6: Well, I mean, and I think, you know, Taylor Kyle's
- 29:18Speaker 6: did lay out the whole question, but I mean, it
- 29:20Speaker 6: was it is interesting how they approached that game. It
- 29:22Speaker 6: was a very Unpatriots kind of approach, not really blitzing,
- 29:25Speaker 6: playing zone, playing two deep safeties. I mean, that's not
- 29:28Speaker 6: really what their personality of the defense is. So, I mean,
- 29:30Speaker 6: I think it was a good question from Taylor to
- 29:33Speaker 6: to DeMarcus Covington. How do they change it? Do they
- 29:35Speaker 6: get you know, do they just say, we got to
- 29:36Speaker 6: get after this guy because if we sit back and.
- 29:38Speaker 3: He's just gonna pick us apart, and they allow Gonzales
- 29:41Speaker 3: to match up with somebody to play a lot more man.
- 29:44Speaker 6: They had crappy corners.
- 29:46Speaker 2: I do think, like, you know, we haven't seen DeMarcus
- 29:48Speaker 2: Covington as a defensive coordinator yet, but he still learned
- 29:51Speaker 2: under Bill and I got to imagine that still some
- 29:55Speaker 2: of the cannons that they had in the past, he'll
- 30:00Speaker 2: still have, which is, don't get beat deep, you know,
- 30:03Speaker 2: and so they'll be conservative that way.
- 30:05Speaker 6: Yeah. Drew Wilkins was real complimentary of Covington and just
- 30:08Speaker 6: asked him a little bit about him in the coaches meeting.
- 30:11Speaker 6: He he said he had an incredible recall of plays
- 30:13Speaker 6: and you know, has been around a while and has
- 30:15Speaker 6: seen a lot and you know, could remember things from
- 30:17Speaker 6: previous seasons, kind of like we talk about sometimes with
- 30:19Speaker 6: you know, Brady and Josh. Just the experience he has.
- 30:22Speaker 6: He talked about to well, this was a DeMarcus thing,
- 30:24Speaker 6: but talking about Colin plays in his backyard watching the game.
- 30:26Speaker 6: Colin plays practicing, so he's an intense guy. He's got
- 30:29Speaker 6: that defense vibe.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I liked his answer about like you know, the job itself,
- 30:34Speaker 2: and you know, like instead of like oh my god,
- 30:38Speaker 2: you know, he used another word. You know here, I
- 30:40Speaker 2: am like like, no, I'm ready for this. I've been
- 30:44Speaker 2: I've been preparing for this. I'm I've been thinking about
- 30:47Speaker 2: this day for a long time.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Colin plays in his backyard.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, so I like that. You know, who
- 30:54Speaker 2: knows if that really means anything, but I love I
- 30:57Speaker 2: love the attitude of confidence going in. You know, no,
- 31:00Speaker 2: I'm not going to be overwhelmed, so I'm prepared.
- 31:02Speaker 3: It's interesting. Mike and I talked a little bit after
- 31:05Speaker 3: Covington's press conference, and I kind of said some of
- 31:07Speaker 3: the same things. I didn't take him the way you did,
- 31:11Speaker 3: but I was just he came across, as I thought,
- 31:14Speaker 3: a little bit overly confident, and I just said to Mike,
- 31:18Speaker 3: you know, we might have to tone him down a
- 31:20Speaker 3: little bit, because I was there and I didn't necessarily
- 31:22Speaker 3: think it was anything out of the ordinary. I was,
- 31:25Speaker 3: you know, contextually, like I don't necessarily think he was
- 31:28Speaker 3: throwing any bombs. But if you just looked at what
- 31:29Speaker 3: he was saying, if you read the transcript and didn't
- 31:33Speaker 3: hear tone, you know, he was asked about, you know, well,
- 31:36Speaker 3: how do you deal with Higgins and Chase, Well, they
- 31:39Speaker 3: have to deal with us too. Like I'm like, yeah, again,
- 31:43Speaker 3: I heard it, and I didn't take it as anything
- 31:46Speaker 3: over the top. But I just wonder if that's the
- 31:48Speaker 3: kind of stuff that like Belichick, well maybe back to
- 31:50Speaker 3: Bill would bristle, he.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Would bristle, but maybe he's setting a tone for his defense.
- 31:54Speaker 2: This is the attitude I want my defense to have.
- 31:57Speaker 2: It's going to start with me and it's gonna trickle down.
- 31:59Speaker 3: We're going to play really good team defense, and that's
- 32:02Speaker 3: how we win. That's how we're going to win, he said. Now,
- 32:06Speaker 3: I don't think he meant like beat the back guarantee
- 32:09Speaker 3: we're winning on Sunday. I just meant when we win battle,
- 32:12Speaker 3: when we win, this is how we're gonna win. We're
- 32:14Speaker 3: gonna play good team defense. You know, I think that's
- 32:16Speaker 3: what he meant. I'm just talking about how it actually
- 32:18Speaker 3: came across. Yeah, yeah, so yeah.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Bill would never do anything that could be used against
- 32:25Speaker 2: him after the game. Oh you thought you were gonna win? Huh.
- 32:28Speaker 2: You know, he never wanted to be paying it into
- 32:30Speaker 2: that corner.
- 32:31Speaker 9: That's such a learning crew for those guys, Like I
- 32:33Speaker 9: feel like everyone is just like they are picking apart
- 32:37Speaker 9: his transves and reading so much into everything, and it's
- 32:40Speaker 9: like it's such a challenge to be. Yeah, your guys
- 32:44Speaker 9: on your shows, me too, it's just so difficult to
- 32:47Speaker 9: be in the moment and just take into account that
- 32:50Speaker 9: media training and just really not like, now I really
- 32:53Speaker 9: understand why Bill was the way he was and just
- 32:56Speaker 9: seeing Gerard have to deal with getting everything he says dissected.
- 32:59Speaker 10: I'm like, Okay, now I get it.
- 33:00Speaker 6: I think there's a happy medium though, Like there's like Bill,
- 33:02Speaker 6: Bill was like confrontational with his lack of.
- 33:05Speaker 3: Response, saying if you want to play Mike and Tony.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Mike and Tony were a lot worse on Bill's press
- 33:09Speaker 3: conferences than they have been on Mayos.
- 33:11Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean there's I don't know.
- 33:12Speaker 6: I think there's a way that Mayo will find his
- 33:14Speaker 6: stride and be able to deal with a smile and
- 33:16Speaker 6: do it. You know, he's he's a guy that is
- 33:18Speaker 6: easy to kind of like and you know he just
- 33:20Speaker 6: has to say less.
- 33:21Speaker 3: I think that's kind of like with everybody stay on point.
- 33:23Speaker 13: You know.
- 33:23Speaker 6: I think I just was listening to Jonathan Jones, who
- 33:26Speaker 6: I think is a master of like two sentence replies.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Like he just he gets right through everything. He wished
- 33:31Speaker 3: everybody was like that. It was.
- 33:33Speaker 6: You know, it's it's so easy to go through his
- 33:35Speaker 6: talking and you know, pull out the quotes and stuff
- 33:37Speaker 6: because he's just is so direct and easy. He answers
- 33:39Speaker 6: the question, he gets out. I think that's what you know,
- 33:41Speaker 6: some of the coaches need.
- 33:42Speaker 2: When they prep people to go on the stand in
- 33:44Speaker 2: a court row. You know, they say, don't answer what's
- 33:48Speaker 2: not being asked. Oh, just answer the question that's being asked,
- 33:51Speaker 2: and don't editorialize, don't add to it, don't give you
- 33:55Speaker 2: a pion, Just answer what's being asked.
- 33:57Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, And don't you know, don't don't like I
- 34:01Speaker 6: think we talked about with you know, with Mayo. You
- 34:04Speaker 6: know you're all gonna want to know about the QB Like,
- 34:06Speaker 6: don't you know, don't don't put yourself into a corner
- 34:08Speaker 6: right away with that kind of stuff. I think he'll
- 34:10Speaker 6: get better. I mean, I assume that you know there's
- 34:13Speaker 6: This is how a lot of NFL coaches are when
- 34:15Speaker 6: they first get in. You're excited, you're kind of jittery.
- 34:17Speaker 6: You got a bunch, you get questions coming at all angles,
- 34:18Speaker 6: and you know, you got guys like Diane wrote, Dan
- 34:20Speaker 6: Roach a big smile on his face, you know, like
- 34:22Speaker 6: you want to kind of people pleas there. You know,
- 34:25Speaker 6: you want to give, you want to give stuff out
- 34:27Speaker 6: and it's hard to hold back or you know, to
- 34:29Speaker 6: be measured. And I'm sure that jib Meo press conferences
- 34:33Speaker 6: in come January will be a lot different than they've been.
- 34:35Speaker 10: Well, was built always that way with you guys.
- 34:39Speaker 5: I mean he was he was better when he first
- 34:41Speaker 5: got here.
- 34:42Speaker 10: Sometimes I wonder if Spygy kind of just change him
- 34:45Speaker 10: or not.
- 34:46Speaker 3: It was it was different before Spygate. But you know,
- 34:49Speaker 3: there were some things that we went back and listened
- 34:52Speaker 3: to as we were putting together some of the Brady stuff. Yeah,
- 34:55Speaker 3: and you're like, wow, he actually said that.
- 34:58Speaker 10: That's what I That's kind of why.
- 34:59Speaker 9: I just from watching like different documentaries and the way
- 35:03Speaker 9: The Dynasty kind of laid out the whole Spygate situation,
- 35:06Speaker 9: I was like, hmm, did he just feel so burned
- 35:09Speaker 9: by like people?
- 35:10Speaker 6: I think a lot of it was Cleveland. I believe
- 35:12Speaker 6: that was Cleance, you know, which which I don't. I
- 35:15Speaker 6: can't really speak to what that media is like.
- 35:17Speaker 2: But that was pretty bad at Cleveland. That's why, you know,
- 35:22Speaker 2: towards the end there he was really gruff with the media,
- 35:26Speaker 2: you know, because and he really got criticized towards the
- 35:32Speaker 2: end there. And he got a little better here. But
- 35:34Speaker 2: I think once he won that Super Bowl and had
- 35:38Speaker 2: that cred and was secure job, I think that he
- 35:44Speaker 2: did whatever he wanted.
- 35:46Speaker 10: Talk like he wouldn't be that just stern.
- 35:48Speaker 3: Always stare. There was nobody that was more comfortable in
- 35:52Speaker 3: dead silence.
- 35:54Speaker 10: Literally, no one more comfortable and uncomfortable.
- 35:56Speaker 3: He would he would answer a question, you would ask
- 35:59Speaker 3: a question, he'd answer it, and then he'd stop and
- 36:01Speaker 3: you'd be like, you're through your soul, and he'd stare
- 36:05Speaker 3: through your soul. And he was perfectly fine with that
- 36:08Speaker 3: if you didn't have anything ready to go. Okay, yeah,
- 36:11Speaker 3: you know, like it's the opposite. And I think Alex's
- 36:13Speaker 3: point about, like with Girard, it's not only that he's
- 36:16Speaker 3: sort of been a little bit too forthcoming. And I'm
- 36:19Speaker 3: not talking about giving away secrets. I just mean, like
- 36:22Speaker 3: Fred said, answering questions that weren't asked. But it's in
- 36:25Speaker 3: contrast to Bill, who barely answered the questions that were asked.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Or answered the question.
- 36:31Speaker 3: That's something totally different, rights Bill, That's not what I said,
- 36:34Speaker 3: that's not what I asked.
- 36:36Speaker 2: That was his way of getting around answering it.
- 36:39Speaker 6: I assume part of the gig too is anticipating questions
- 36:42Speaker 6: and he's being briefed on like what's going to come
- 36:44Speaker 6: and and I think maybe that's why he jumps the
- 36:46Speaker 6: gun a little bit on you know, knowing those things.
- 36:48Speaker 6: But it's Bill's ability to be we'll see and then
- 36:52Speaker 6: just stare at you. You know, I mean that, and sometimes
- 36:54Speaker 6: that is what it is. You know, you can do
- 36:56Speaker 6: it with a smile, but you know he'll find his
- 36:58Speaker 6: own style Bill.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Bill had an uncanny knack of just saying, I don't
- 37:03Speaker 3: mind being uncomfortable, because you're going to be more uncomfortable
- 37:06Speaker 3: than I am.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Right, And Parcels was the same way. You know he
- 37:10Speaker 2: would he would not give you anything, and he'd be
- 37:13Speaker 2: gruff with the media, but he did it in a
- 37:15Speaker 2: more not charming way, but entertaining.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Charming is probably.
- 37:21Speaker 6: What was Pete like, because we don't know what he
- 37:23Speaker 6: is like, but was he But just like he did,
- 37:25Speaker 6: he get himself in trouble though, Yeah, saying too much stuff,
- 37:28Speaker 6: wanting to be people pleas.
- 37:29Speaker 3: There, Yeah, late in the evening. That's it's like three
- 37:32Speaker 3: and O in the NFL. Can't get any better than that, right,
- 37:34Speaker 3: like James Brown.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Saying, you know they're back to five hundred.
- 37:38Speaker 3: You know, like these things happened twenty five years ago,
- 37:41Speaker 3: Fred and I can recall them like this.
- 37:44Speaker 2: H eight five five pass five hundred is the ace
- 37:46Speaker 2: taking Hotline Web Radio at Patriots dot com is the
- 37:49Speaker 2: email address. Let's get to some of these emails. Ray
- 37:52Speaker 2: in Pennsylvania says, I like today's studio setup. It definitely
- 37:57Speaker 2: brings back the radio studio vibes of the old student video.
- 38:00Speaker 2: It goes perfectly for picks and lunch for Paul, thank you,
- 38:03Speaker 2: Onto the game, Onto the game. I'm predicting a season opener. Upset.
- 38:08Speaker 2: McPherson misses a crucial kick late, allowing the Patriots to
- 38:12Speaker 2: sneak into field goal range for a Joey slide game winner.
- 38:15Speaker 2: Patriots win nineteen seventeen, and ps will someone please get
- 38:19Speaker 2: Mike a jingle already? The poor guy couldn't possibly drop
- 38:22Speaker 2: any more requests and hints.
- 38:24Speaker 3: It really is embarrassing.
- 38:26Speaker 14: One.
- 38:27Speaker 6: I have like a theme song, but I need a jingle.
- 38:29Speaker 2: You we need one, See we have one.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Mike is back from practice, but we need one. Mike
- 38:33Speaker 3: is back from the locker.
- 38:34Speaker 6: I think there's a lot of gold to mine there
- 38:36Speaker 6: in the locker room, because you know, I just I
- 38:38Speaker 6: think it's different than practice.
- 38:39Speaker 3: There's a lot of it's just talking to pick a.
- 38:42Speaker 6: Lot of people, a lot of people in towels. There's
- 38:45Speaker 6: a lot of awkwardness going on peanut I since talking
- 38:47Speaker 6: to GARDI. We were eyeing the the rack of peanut
- 38:50Speaker 6: butter and jelly sandwiches and Gardy was g already wanted
- 38:52Speaker 6: to get one of those yesterday too. They're just sitting
- 38:56Speaker 6: there like it's your and.
- 39:00Speaker 10: Jay there's Chick fil A after practice.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Like I didn't get that sea food eat food. Yeah,
- 39:08Speaker 2: Olympic guys.
- 39:09Speaker 6: I still can't wrap my head around someone weighing like
- 39:12Speaker 6: three hundred and forty pounds, like like good, like two
- 39:14Speaker 6: hundred pounds you know more? Not but you know good
- 39:17Speaker 6: one hundred and sixty hundred and eighty pounds more.
- 39:19Speaker 3: I just how do you?
- 39:20Speaker 6: How do you even move? Like three hundred forty pounds?
- 39:23Speaker 3: Why be so hurtful?
- 39:24Speaker 2: They're sitting right here, They're big guys. Tony writes in
- 39:28Speaker 2: I haven't seen much information about barb Wore's condition. I
- 39:31Speaker 2: think it'd be interesting if you could have a medical
- 39:33Speaker 2: professional at to discuss blood clots, what causes them, what's
- 39:37Speaker 2: the treatment? Now that they would know the specific not
- 39:40Speaker 2: that they would know the specifics about Barber, but in general,
- 39:43Speaker 2: right now, fans have no idea if this could be
- 39:45Speaker 2: career ending or if it can be brought under control.
- 39:48Speaker 6: Maybe I could interview my It could be my intown
- 39:50Speaker 6: friend who had a lot to text me after it
- 39:53Speaker 6: first happened. He's been around the NFL a lot. Maybe
- 39:55Speaker 6: I'll see if yeah, talk to him a little bit.
- 39:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we don't know the general terms. The reason
- 40:01Speaker 3: why you don't do that is because.
- 40:03Speaker 6: You don't know.
- 40:04Speaker 10: You want to speculate it.
- 40:05Speaker 3: Well, you don't know the individual case. Like David Andrews
- 40:08Speaker 3: went through this and he missed a whole season. He
- 40:10Speaker 3: came back and he's been none the worse for wear.
- 40:12Speaker 3: They figured out, you know, a plan of attack, they
- 40:15Speaker 3: dealt with the blood clots, and he's been able to
- 40:18Speaker 3: play ever since. Some guys might not be the same way.
- 40:22Speaker 3: It's it's a different situation.
- 40:24Speaker 6: Find it hard to write about just from a like
- 40:26Speaker 6: because he had blood clots, Like how do you describe it?
- 40:29Speaker 3: Like every day every day in bloodbservations, it was like,
- 40:32Speaker 3: you know, Christian Bomber parentheses blood.
- 40:33Speaker 7: Clots Like it's like.
- 40:36Speaker 5: It's not the same as ankle Paul.
- 40:37Speaker 6: And it was just like a name for this, like
- 40:39Speaker 6: you know, like I need like I just can't. He's
- 40:40Speaker 6: got blood clots. What are you gonna do?
- 40:42Speaker 2: I mean, uh, sweet kid, right Sin Melvin Uh, He
- 40:46Speaker 2: says I'm more concerned with Higgins in this particular game
- 40:49Speaker 2: than Chase. Do you think this matchup is particularly favorable
- 40:52Speaker 2: for Gonzales with his size? Patriots thirteen, Bengals twenty four?
- 40:58Speaker 6: Ah got us there? Yeah, I uh no, I mean
- 41:02Speaker 6: I kind of see it similarly. But it'd be pretty
- 41:05Speaker 6: cool if they were able to just pull an up
- 41:06Speaker 6: set off just to.
- 41:07Speaker 15: Well, it looks like Chase will probably play right, Yeah,
- 41:10Speaker 15: but I understand what they're asking, Like, I would figure
- 41:13Speaker 15: Higgins to be the you know, the guy that's more
- 41:17Speaker 15: ready to go.
- 41:18Speaker 6: Yeah, for sure.
- 41:19Speaker 3: So do you put Gonzales on him match the size
- 41:23Speaker 3: or do you need Gonzalez you know, with Chase and
- 41:28Speaker 3: then give him help?
- 41:29Speaker 5: You know, I don't know the answer to that.
- 41:30Speaker 6: I think maybe Chase third downs, Like it seems like,
- 41:32Speaker 6: you know, just pick them out there when you need them.
- 41:34Speaker 6: You don't need them every first and second down. Get
- 41:36Speaker 6: some of the young receivers that you have out there.
- 41:39Speaker 6: Let them get some experience on the outside.
- 41:41Speaker 3: So one thing I was I was sort of talking
- 41:42Speaker 3: about too, Mike is your thing from the preseason games
- 41:45Speaker 3: when we do, like the post game show is one
- 41:47Speaker 3: of the things Mike has sort of been, you know,
- 41:49Speaker 3: summer football. Who knows if it translates with the run,
- 41:53Speaker 3: stopping the run, and the Bengals couldn't run the ball
- 41:56Speaker 3: at all last year. They felt like Mixing is good
- 42:00Speaker 3: as he is was a little you know, kind of
- 42:02Speaker 3: aging and slowing down. And they feel like they have
- 42:04Speaker 3: a little bit more explosiveness with Chase Brown especially, but
- 42:08Speaker 3: even with Zach Moss. Mike's point was like they had
- 42:14Speaker 3: trouble at times in the preseason game stopping the run. Now,
- 42:17Speaker 3: I felt like when the quote unquote starters were out there,
- 42:21Speaker 3: they shut it down. They had a number of short
- 42:24Speaker 3: yardage stops in one of those games. I mean when
- 42:29Speaker 3: Godshaw and those guys were out there, I.
- 42:31Speaker 6: Mean, you lost Lawrence guy, you lost Christian Barmore. Who
- 42:34Speaker 6: do you really have to replace them? I mean there's
- 42:36Speaker 6: there's you know, Jeremih Farms is you know, nice and
- 42:39Speaker 6: that's a good story and stuff. But Daniel Godshawn Aquale,
- 42:43Speaker 6: who are your real NFL defensive tackles? I mean they
- 42:46Speaker 6: brought you know, blanket on the kid's name. They just
- 42:48Speaker 6: brought in who I assume is gonna have to play
- 42:50Speaker 6: because they just they don't. There's nobody else really, Eric Johnson,
- 42:54Speaker 6: Eric Johnson, thank you. Yeah, you're on a hot thunderfire.
- 42:58Speaker 6: But I think it's a huge concern. It might. My
- 43:00Speaker 6: point was just that if you can't stop the run
- 43:02Speaker 6: with those guys, then it's.
- 43:03Speaker 3: And you have to stop the run without like anybody else,
- 43:07Speaker 3: Like you need six, you know, to control the run.
- 43:11Speaker 6: That's what I was going to say. Like, those guys
- 43:13Speaker 6: are tough, they'll they'll be tough inside, but but.
- 43:15Speaker 3: You don't want to have to be bringing Peppers and
- 43:17Speaker 3: Dugger down to like deal with Zach Moss, Like you
- 43:20Speaker 3: shouldn't have to do that.
- 43:22Speaker 6: No, it's a it's a it's a big concern.
- 43:24Speaker 2: It is, uh asking I shall receive. Dan is a
- 43:29Speaker 2: physician in Greenville, South Carolina. He said, wants to add
- 43:35Speaker 2: some context. The treatment duration on blood thinners for pulmonary
- 43:39Speaker 2: embolism is usually three to six months long term. In
- 43:43Speaker 2: other words, lifelong use of blood thinners is based on
- 43:46Speaker 2: whether or not the blood clot is provoked or unprovoked.
- 43:50Speaker 2: Provoked means some inciting event for the blood clot which
- 43:54Speaker 2: is defined, which is a defined event such as surgery
- 43:57Speaker 2: or long travel. In this case, the individual does not
- 44:00Speaker 2: need to be on blood thinners lifelong. However, if it
- 44:03Speaker 2: is unprovoked, it is not an identifiable event. In that case,
- 44:08Speaker 2: the worry or concern is that there is a medical
- 44:11Speaker 2: condition such as a blood clotting disorder that predisposes someone
- 44:15Speaker 2: to develop a clot, in which case lifelong blood thinners
- 44:19Speaker 2: is indicated. I'm certain he is getting evaluated by a
- 44:22Speaker 2: hematologists to determine if this is the case. Lifelong blood
- 44:27Speaker 2: thinners is not compatible with playing football. The risk of
- 44:30Speaker 2: serious life threatening bleeding in the brain while on thinners
- 44:34Speaker 2: is too high.
- 44:36Speaker 3: So and that's why we don't. I mean, that was
- 44:38Speaker 3: a very thorough breakdown from someone who obviously has some
- 44:42Speaker 3: knowledge of this. That's why we don't do that, because
- 44:44Speaker 3: there was you know, if this or that right, and
- 44:48Speaker 3: I don't even know that we know it was pulmonary.
- 44:50Speaker 9: That you took the words out of my mouth, because
- 44:52Speaker 9: we know David Andrews was correct. But Christian, we've never
- 44:55Speaker 9: had We've never I mean, it was just blood clots.
- 44:58Speaker 10: It wasn't a leg it was we are.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Again, blood clots clots, parentheses, blood clotsts know, and I
- 45:06Speaker 3: just we just don't have the information yet. You know,
- 45:09Speaker 3: maybe we will, you know, we'll see. We'll see if
- 45:12Speaker 3: the season unfolds, if we get any updates on Christian
- 45:14Speaker 3: And you know, it's hard to put a course of
- 45:18Speaker 3: action together when you just and that guy, like I said,
- 45:20Speaker 3: he gave a very thorough breakdown of I don't know
- 45:23Speaker 3: what it is.
- 45:24Speaker 10: And the travel is a big one.
- 45:25Speaker 9: You got to think about these guys do so much travel,
- 45:27Speaker 9: Like hopefully they get them some of those compression.
- 45:29Speaker 3: Socks and playing in altitude and whatt like. I think
- 45:33Speaker 3: it was an issue for Andrews.
- 45:35Speaker 9: Yep, that's I've read about like different waves of COVID
- 45:38Speaker 9: potentially being linked to blood clots two and there was
- 45:41Speaker 9: a wave of COVID going around.
- 45:43Speaker 10: There's just so many things that can play into it.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Josh in Manhattan, right Sin, we haven't really talked about
- 45:51Speaker 2: Drake May, he said. The primary argument for Drake May
- 45:54Speaker 2: to start at some point this year is generally that
- 45:56Speaker 2: the best way to develop quarterbacks is by giving them
- 45:59Speaker 2: real life reps, which I totally agree with. Another reason
- 46:02Speaker 2: in my opinion that Drake May should start at some
- 46:05Speaker 2: point this year is because he gives us the best
- 46:07Speaker 2: chance of attracting high end talent. I you've turned down
- 46:10Speaker 2: per Breer eighty million in guaranteed money extensively because you
- 46:14Speaker 2: didn't want to play for a team that's easy to defend.
- 46:17Speaker 2: To use Fred's parlance, the only way I see the
- 46:20Speaker 2: paradigm shifting is if we showcase our shiny new toy
- 46:23Speaker 2: at some point this season. Otherwise we'll be in the
- 46:26Speaker 2: exact same boat next free agency.
- 46:29Speaker 6: Yeah, i'd say, I, you know, I think generally agree
- 46:31Speaker 6: with that, But I also think that like what if
- 46:33Speaker 6: they're what if they're kind of tough, Like what if
- 46:35Speaker 6: they kind of scrappy team, and you know, and you
- 46:38Speaker 6: look like you're not like maybe Jacoby Brissett isn't like
- 46:41Speaker 6: the piece of it, but you're seeing guys make plays,
- 46:44Speaker 6: and you're seeing some progress on the offensive line, and
- 46:46Speaker 6: you feel like there's something here. It's not complete yet,
- 46:49Speaker 6: but we have, you know, an early structure in place
- 46:52Speaker 6: that you know is going to be able to to
- 46:54Speaker 6: be put Drake May into and he's gonna be able
- 46:56Speaker 6: to elevate that even further.
- 46:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I totally agree with that. I think that a
- 47:00Speaker 3: lot of the points that email are made of valid.
- 47:02Speaker 3: If you want not only to develop your quarterback, but
- 47:06Speaker 3: to get that sort of path established, you need to
- 47:09Speaker 3: show people we don't have questions at quarterback. This is
- 47:12Speaker 3: our guy. We're very happy with him. He's developing nicely.
- 47:16Speaker 3: See he's out here playing and he's having some success.
- 47:19Speaker 6: It's kind of funny. I saw a thing on Twitter
- 47:21Speaker 6: today that kind of ranked the team, so thanks Matt.
- 47:26Speaker 6: Based on it was like fan confidence in the team
- 47:29Speaker 6: and like projected win total and it was like this chart,
- 47:32Speaker 6: and the Patriots were down near the bottom where they
- 47:33Speaker 6: have a low projected win total and the fans don't
- 47:36Speaker 6: really seem to have a ton of confidence. But there
- 47:37Speaker 6: are also a lot of teams that don't have a
- 47:40Speaker 6: high win total but have like fans that believe, you know,
- 47:45Speaker 6: And it's funny how that can happen, Like that's kind
- 47:47Speaker 6: of where you want to be in spoiled No. I know,
- 47:49Speaker 6: our fans are like, well, terrible, we're never gonna be
- 47:51Speaker 6: good again, But you know, there are fans of other
- 47:53Speaker 6: teams that do see, like, hey, we're not going to
- 47:54Speaker 6: be great this year, but I feel good about the
- 47:56Speaker 6: direction we're heading, and that's I think the heart of
- 47:58Speaker 6: the matter for me.
- 47:59Speaker 2: That's what you want to be. You know, it's easy
- 48:01Speaker 2: to talk about. It's also easy to drink, easy to enjoy.

- 50:12Speaker 4: Somebody start good. Good first day.
- 50:17Speaker 16: Uh, you know, the the intensity of the first game
- 50:20Speaker 16: of the season is definitely there. Uh you know, the
- 50:23Speaker 16: attention to detail was there. So it was a good day.
- 50:25Speaker 16: Uh you know, you just got to keep stacking them.
- 50:26Speaker 2: Now. Starting quarterback for the New England Patriots one in
- 50:29Speaker 2: Week one, ye.
- 50:30Speaker 4: Oh for sure.
- 50:32Speaker 6: What let's just take a challenges in the day those
- 50:37Speaker 6: defense said.
- 50:40Speaker 16: Yeah, I mean, I think Lou does a really good
- 50:42Speaker 16: job with those guys. A lot of the same guys
- 50:44Speaker 16: have been in this defense for a for a while now,
- 50:46Speaker 16: uh you know, uh so so they understand the scheme,
- 50:49Speaker 16: they understand, you know, their problems that teams are trying
- 50:51Speaker 16: to attack and and I think over the years they've
- 50:54Speaker 16: done a good job of of correcting a lot of
- 50:56Speaker 16: those like you know, dating back to when we first
- 50:58Speaker 16: got there to to now.
- 51:00Speaker 4: Uh, you know, the.
- 51:01Speaker 16: Obviously got a lot of talented guys, so you know,
- 51:04Speaker 16: we definitely got to be on our p's and q's
- 51:05Speaker 16: this week.
- 51:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:07Speaker 17: You obviously played them in twenty twenty two with the
- 51:09Speaker 17: Brown time.
- 51:09Speaker 2: As you go back to that game and.
- 51:12Speaker 13: You know, look at the tape from that one.
- 51:13Speaker 16: Yeah, more so for for I guess the defense, uh
- 51:18Speaker 16: more than anything, not to watch myself really, but you know,
- 51:23Speaker 16: understanding a lot of the things that we tried to
- 51:26Speaker 16: attack then and and how like then I watched the
- 51:29Speaker 16: game later in the year from when we played them
- 51:31Speaker 16: the second time, when Deshaun was playing, and how they
- 51:34Speaker 16: corrected a lot of those things, and you know that
- 51:36Speaker 16: kind of like chess match, and then even last year
- 51:39Speaker 16: kind of seeing some of the same things because you
- 51:41Speaker 16: know a lot of the stuff kind of carries over
- 51:43Speaker 16: year to year, and then you know, they obviously figure
- 51:45Speaker 16: out a lot of the stuff that we're trying to do.
- 51:47Speaker 16: So I think I've watched, you know, dating back to
- 51:51Speaker 16: the year I was there to watch those two games
- 51:52Speaker 16: and then last year's two game a couple of times
- 51:54Speaker 16: now just to you know, kind of get in the
- 51:56Speaker 16: mindset of like how this offense slash hybrid offense kind
- 52:00Speaker 16: of attacks Lou and Lou kind of attacks this offense.
- 52:03Speaker 8: You know, do you hope you're getting ready for your
- 52:05Speaker 8: first game here this year and then picking back maybe
- 52:08Speaker 8: to your first game your rookie year September of that year,
- 52:11Speaker 8: how are things similar is in how you get ready
- 52:14Speaker 8: and how is it different than.
- 52:15Speaker 4: The feeling of I think my knowledge of football has
- 52:18Speaker 4: definitely grown.
- 52:20Speaker 3: You know.
- 52:20Speaker 16: Fortunately I have a week now rather than two days
- 52:22Speaker 16: to get ready for a game, so that's good, you know.
- 52:27Speaker 16: And obviously just the excitement that I had when I
- 52:29Speaker 16: was twenty two years old, twenty three years old, you know,
- 52:33Speaker 16: I still feel that same way right now. So you know,
- 52:35Speaker 16: I'm excited for this week ahead, excited for our team,
- 52:38Speaker 16: you know, to go on the road the first week
- 52:39Speaker 16: and kind of you know, make our imprint this year.
- 52:41Speaker 16: And you know what this twenty twenty fourteenth season is
- 52:44Speaker 16: gonna be.
- 52:45Speaker 12: Draw talked a little bit this foining about your usability
- 52:48Speaker 12: to protect them.
- 52:49Speaker 18: What do you think it is about about your game
- 52:51Speaker 18: for the last year to protect the games?
- 52:54Speaker 2: Uh?
- 52:55Speaker 16: You know, I think it's just comes with you know,
- 52:59Speaker 16: learning and growing as a player.
- 53:00Speaker 12: Uh.
- 53:01Speaker 16: You know, when kind of you got to kind of
- 53:03Speaker 16: like put your ego to the side. It's like, oh,
- 53:04Speaker 16: you can't make every throw every play, you know, some
- 53:06Speaker 16: of some of those plays call for you to check
- 53:09Speaker 16: the ball down.
- 53:09Speaker 4: Some of those plays call.
- 53:10Speaker 16: For you throw the ball away and and not force things,
- 53:12Speaker 16: and uh, you know, and obviously learning that throughout my
- 53:15Speaker 16: years of playing, I think that plays a part in it. Uh,
- 53:18Speaker 16: you know, I've had a fortunate enough to have a
- 53:20Speaker 16: lot of good players to knock a lot of bad
- 53:22Speaker 16: decisions down down for me. So I think that played
- 53:25Speaker 16: a part in it too. But it's a I think
- 53:27Speaker 16: it's a culmination of a lot of different things.
- 53:31Speaker 6: As well.
- 53:32Speaker 3: Knocked out some bad decisions and knock the ball down
- 53:35Speaker 3: for you.
- 53:35Speaker 4: No, no, do you?
- 53:36Speaker 3: I guess I thought you not like older players.
- 53:39Speaker 16: You know what I'm saying, Like I throw a stupid
- 53:40Speaker 16: pass and somebody breaks it up for me, like it's
- 53:43Speaker 16: not an interception anymore. So I think that that definitely
- 53:45Speaker 16: helped me out a couple of times in my career.
- 53:47Speaker 4: If anything surprised you about the challenges that you faced
- 53:51Speaker 4: over the course of training campus pretty season, what say
- 53:54Speaker 4: it again?
- 53:55Speaker 16: Sorry, anything surprise you? You kind of thinking, you know,
- 54:02Speaker 16: nothing really surprises me anymore in this league. I think
- 54:04Speaker 16: it more is just like you kind of you rise
- 54:08Speaker 16: at a situation it's like, oh, like I've been through
- 54:09Speaker 16: that before, and I think I think i've in this
- 54:12Speaker 16: training camp, I've had a lot of those moments, you
- 54:15Speaker 16: know where it's kind of you know, you got to
- 54:18Speaker 16: find those experiences and lean back on them and say like.
- 54:20Speaker 4: Hey, what did I do here? What could I have
- 54:21Speaker 4: done better here?
- 54:22Speaker 16: And just you know when it's I think I've had
- 54:24Speaker 16: a lot more of those than rather than like, oh
- 54:26Speaker 16: I never had that happen before.
- 54:29Speaker 19: Jakoby Gerard talk to us about the Bengals and their
- 54:32Speaker 19: defense plays more aggressive because they feel.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Like they have their high powered offense they can have
- 54:36Speaker 2: their back.
- 54:37Speaker 19: How much do you play off with the other side
- 54:39Speaker 19: of the ball knowing what your defense can do, and
- 54:41Speaker 19: how does that affect your guys playtime?
- 54:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I think that that. I guess that.
- 54:46Speaker 16: Playing complimentary football is really big this week, uh, you know,
- 54:51Speaker 16: and value in the possessions that we have. Uh and
- 54:54Speaker 16: you know, sustaining drives, being good on first and second
- 54:56Speaker 16: down to make their downs manageable. I mean, all those
- 54:59Speaker 16: cle shape things that you hear. You know, it's even
- 55:02Speaker 16: it's more.
- 55:03Speaker 4: Help me with this word perative Is that the right word?
- 55:05Speaker 4: Or is imperative?
- 55:08Speaker 2: Right?
- 55:08Speaker 3: All right?
- 55:08Speaker 16: Imperative to that we do that this week, especially going
- 55:10Speaker 16: on the road the first game of the season in
- 55:12Speaker 16: the hostile environment. Uh, you know kind of you know,
- 55:15Speaker 16: getting off to a fast start. I think that'll help us,
- 55:17Speaker 16: you know, kind of you start confimentary football where there's offense, defense,
- 55:21Speaker 16: special teams, you know, and then we're just feeding off
- 55:23Speaker 16: and playing off each other.
- 55:24Speaker 10: How confident are you with your running backs here?
- 55:26Speaker 11: And what if you've just liked about the way they've played.
- 55:28Speaker 16: Up to disappoint Yeah, I think I think we've got
- 55:30Speaker 16: a good group of guys in that room, you know,
- 55:32Speaker 16: guys that we definitely got to get involved, uh.
- 55:35Speaker 4: In this game playing, you know that.
- 55:37Speaker 16: I think the good things they all can do so
- 55:40Speaker 16: many different things for us is whether it's catching, running, blocking,
- 55:43Speaker 16: So you know, we're definitely gonna lean heavily on them
- 55:45Speaker 16: this week, especially going on the road in the hostile environment.
- 55:47Speaker 16: You kind of want to, you know, I guess what
- 55:49Speaker 16: it's set your paths and and kind of you know,
- 55:51Speaker 16: set the tone as far as like, you know, what
- 55:53Speaker 16: our team's gonna be about starts with them.
- 55:55Speaker 3: If we talked to a good amount of the defensive
- 55:57Speaker 3: players today, love just.
- 55:58Speaker 2: How they've seen your row.
- 56:00Speaker 3: You know, he evolved, it's become to the head coach
- 56:03Speaker 3: from an offensive perspective, how do you see him grow
- 56:05Speaker 3: since taking on that head coach roll in just the
- 56:08Speaker 3: last couple of weeks with.
- 56:08Speaker 16: Upt week one him Yeah, So I mean fortunately for them,
- 56:11Speaker 16: they know him as a defensive coach. I only know
- 56:13Speaker 16: him as the head coach. So but I would say
- 56:14Speaker 16: from from spring to now, uh, you've definitely seen you know,
- 56:20Speaker 16: I guess him by him playing, he understands the the
- 56:23Speaker 16: ramp up from OTAs to training camp to first game
- 56:26Speaker 16: of the season. I've definitely seen that, you know, the intensity,
- 56:28Speaker 16: intensity and focused from him as as you know, as
- 56:31Speaker 16: the leader of this team. Uh, you know, kind of
- 56:34Speaker 16: ramping up as we get to this point and you know,
- 56:36Speaker 16: we had a really good team meeting today of and
- 56:38Speaker 16: you can kind of feel his energy as far as
- 56:40Speaker 16: you know, I would say, you know, like hey, this
- 56:44Speaker 16: first game to see like this isn't this isn't preseason
- 56:46Speaker 16: games or OTA or practice like we can't uh, you know,
- 56:49Speaker 16: he didn't dip his toe in the team, meaning that
- 56:51Speaker 16: he kind of really got got after it.
- 56:53Speaker 4: So I thought it was good.
- 56:54Speaker 6: What's the ring?
- 56:55Speaker 10: What's the meaning to be a right captain of this scene?
- 56:59Speaker 6: You know?
- 57:01Speaker 16: Yeah, it was definitely uh, I surprise for sure, but
- 57:06Speaker 16: definitely something I don't take for granted, uh, not only
- 57:10Speaker 16: being a captain of this team and knowing all the
- 57:12Speaker 16: guys that I looked up through this organization and and
- 57:14Speaker 16: and I played with a lot of them, but also
- 57:17Speaker 16: the history.
- 57:17Speaker 4: Of this this team.
- 57:19Speaker 16: But uh, you know, when you when you get voted
- 57:20Speaker 16: by your peers, you know, it's something special rather than
- 57:22Speaker 16: you know, being appointed based on position, and you know,
- 57:25Speaker 16: and it's something I definitely don't take for granted. Off
- 57:31Speaker 16: excited for him, you know, And uh, I know that's
- 57:35Speaker 16: the big question about us. It's like, what what's the
- 57:37Speaker 16: offensive line situation? And I think, you know, that's that's
- 57:40Speaker 16: the cool part about this, this this league, in this
- 57:42Speaker 16: in this game, is you know, everybody can have all
- 57:45Speaker 16: these questions, you know, you still got to go line
- 57:46Speaker 16: up and do it, you know, and I think those
- 57:47Speaker 16: guys understand that they understand that task.
- 57:50Speaker 2: Uh.
- 57:50Speaker 16: You know, I feel very confident that you know, with
- 57:52Speaker 16: this plan and and uh, you know how we're gonna
- 57:54Speaker 16: attack you know, the defense, but also help us and
- 57:57Speaker 16: and and you know protect you know the quarterback and
- 58:00Speaker 16: in it back and obviously pushing the ball down a
- 58:02Speaker 16: field and things like that. You know, I feel very
- 58:03Speaker 16: confident that those guys are locking in on a plan,
- 58:06Speaker 16: you know, iron out of details, and I'm excited for
- 58:10Speaker 16: them to really make their impact on his team because
- 58:13Speaker 16: it starts with them, and and you know, I know
- 58:15Speaker 16: what they're capable of, and I'm just excited for them
- 58:18Speaker 16: to show. I guess all of these questions about them.
- 58:22Speaker 19: When someone accidentally threw a the school play costumes, oh no,
- 58:27Speaker 19: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 58:30Speaker 19: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 58:34Speaker 19: now it's next for residential delivery only.
- 58:38Speaker 3: And now great moments in history.
- 58:44Speaker 2: Eric and Paul show a feeling for the league. Jacksonville
- 58:48Speaker 2: wins this game. They do, in fact, get that.
- 58:50Speaker 3: I took the Houston points. What about the cover? I
- 58:53Speaker 3: took the and a half Jacksonville by three and a half. Yeah,
- 58:56Speaker 3: you took Jacksonville. So you want the point, you lay
- 58:59Speaker 3: in the points.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Believe this, They're gonna They're gonna win by More's.
- 59:04Speaker 17: He's winnings on both sides.
- 59:06Speaker 5: Ladies and gentlemen, He's winning.
- 59:08Speaker 3: They're gonna win.
- 59:09Speaker 19: Now.
- 59:09Speaker 3: You know, want to know why I have that face?
- 59:11Speaker 3: Some of these are not intentional?
- 59:16Speaker 2: Yeah, uh, this is your lock of the Week Upset
- 59:20Speaker 2: Lock of the Week Pittsburgh over the Titans. What was
- 59:25Speaker 2: the spread to two?
- 59:27Speaker 3: Huge upset?
- 59:28Speaker 15: Two?
- 59:28Speaker 2: They're gonna win by more big upset. The New England
- 59:32Speaker 2: money is not coming in, so that worries me. That
- 59:35Speaker 2: worries me in this game.
- 59:36Speaker 3: What do they know? What do they know?
- 59:39Speaker 2: But I'm gonna say nothing. They know nothing.
- 59:42Speaker 3: Oh I thought you were gonna say nothing. Yeah, and
- 59:45Speaker 3: he's done that plenty.
- 59:46Speaker 2: Yeah, Patriots prevail twenty eight.
- 59:53Speaker 3: Nineteen Patriots. My favorite part of the Fred is when
- 59:57Speaker 3: he when he gives picks on games that this I
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: thought too like that one. Right, He's tortured for for
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: a minute, and then it's really the way and then
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: fans away for a two score win. Right.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that's another great moment from all right, you have
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: that to look forward to the end of the show.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: Picks always fun. Gotta hurry.
- 1:00:23Speaker 7: Well for some of us more than others.
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: Alex and I. It's quite enjoyable. Alex won the overall.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: You know, I don't need to recap the usual. I
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: won the spread.
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: I have gone.
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: It's one of the numbers in my trustees.
- 1:00:36Speaker 7: Yeah, living there now?
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: Good?
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: All right?
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: What's that?
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: Literally all right, A five five pass five hundred is
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: the as taken hotline. It's good to see Paul having
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: eaten again, ready to go second half of the show.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: I used to have something to stops when he's full.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: Now yeah I do. Yeah. I mean some people you
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: know are a little worried about you, Paul.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: Why are they worried about.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: Because you're losing weight but you're also losing your fast
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Is this.
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: Losing weight thing?
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: What you're losing weight?
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: Fastball?
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: Because I don't argue with it. You can't argue when
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: a comfy.
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: Morgan in Vermont.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: Morgan in Vermont writes in I appreciate the addition of
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: Matt to the pre and postgame show. However, I have
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: a bone to pick with Paul and Deuce. You guys
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: need to bring it more. Things are getting a little
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: too chummy on those shows. Paul has clearly lost his edge.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Deuce probably never had one. We as fans, are having
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: to sit through a lot of losses in this new era,
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: and I want to tune into some good old fashioned
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: rivers have tide level arguments, not a bunch of boomers
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: giggling like schoolgirls.
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: I am not a boomer. God damn it, nor am
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: I to people just say that's just they just say
- 1:01:47Speaker 6: it now for anybody who's like being four, like I'm
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: gen X, come on people, Jen, Well for the forgotten generation.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: That's true. Boomer is a certain category, but I think
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: it's also used for people that are older, older views.
- 1:02:01Speaker 9: That's why general term like a Karen, yeah, exactly, don't
- 1:02:04Speaker 9: be Karen's on the show you guys, Yeah.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: You have a little Karen Karen watch.
- 1:02:12Speaker 10: That's like one of the worst things. You can be
- 1:02:14Speaker 10: called boring and a Karen.
- 1:02:16Speaker 6: I know, if your name is Karen, it's tough. It's
- 1:02:19Speaker 6: like you never know your name.
- 1:02:19Speaker 10: Is Karen's always.
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: I'd rather be called Karen than boring.
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: Is not a Karen.
- 1:02:26Speaker 10: No, No, I don't know a single Karen that is
- 1:02:28Speaker 10: a Karen. Ins I know.
- 1:02:30Speaker 20: Are lovely women study that's like my ga, Yeah, it's
- 1:02:34Speaker 20: that name is gonna go by the wayside now because
- 1:02:36Speaker 20: there ain't no this is baby Karen.
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: I know.
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: So you think that's what happened over the years, like
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: the traditional names, like there was some sort of negative
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: connotation by a lot of Mary's anymore, that's name. But
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: do you see a lot of Mary's. Do you see
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: a lot of Mikes, see a lot of Mikes?
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: I do.
- 1:02:58Speaker 9: Mikes and like Nick were so common that you had
- 1:03:02Speaker 9: like four Mics and four Nicks in your class.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Went on.
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: Another one.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: You don't see a lot of Fred is a real
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: boring name.
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: You don't see a lot of young It's the guy.
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: Next door name. Yeah, Fred's out.
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: My grandfather, my grandfather.
- 1:03:19Speaker 10: My godfather is Fred.
- 1:03:20Speaker 6: He's a man show Yeah, Fred, do so my great grandpa.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: I like that.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: It's a fish cutter whatever that means, fishmonger.
- 1:03:29Speaker 6: That was it, I think.
- 1:03:30Speaker 7: So that's part of it too.
- 1:03:30Speaker 6: Yeah, I lived in Cambridge.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Okay, let's get to the age ticket outline. Fidel's in Tampa.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: What's up, Fidel?
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: Fidel?
- 1:03:43Speaker 6: Is he there?
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: Matt, No, No, he's gone. That's the problem with calling
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: during work. You never know when your boss is going
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: to walk by Christians in la what's up Christian?
- 1:03:53Speaker 13: Hey you guys, and greeting from the wet coat. Yeah,
- 1:03:58Speaker 13: happy football Thursday. So uh, let's get it on. And
- 1:04:03Speaker 13: I see coming out of the first quarter of the season,
- 1:04:07Speaker 13: possibly zero and four or something of that nature. If
- 1:04:11Speaker 13: that's the case. One do you see us making it
- 1:04:14Speaker 13: change the Drake may second part of the questions, if
- 1:04:18Speaker 13: we come out of the first half of the season
- 1:04:21Speaker 13: possibly again and eight, let's say, do you guys see
- 1:04:27Speaker 13: in position to get a trapped punter next year? And
- 1:04:32Speaker 13: if we don't, do you think grod would let him
- 1:04:34Speaker 13: play both ways?
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: Do you think Dean and Sanders would let him come
- 1:04:37Speaker 6: to New England?
- 1:04:39Speaker 13: That's a good question too. I think the Armed respects
- 1:04:42Speaker 13: that the lineage of New England as far as building
- 1:04:46Speaker 13: a winner like he's been doing, so there might be
- 1:04:49Speaker 13: some synergy in that.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: So Christian, do you think it would be wise to
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: let him play both ways?
- 1:04:56Speaker 13: You know, in this league, the way the rules are
- 1:04:59Speaker 13: changing and being used towards safety, I think he has
- 1:05:02Speaker 13: a better chance of being you know, successful more nowadays
- 1:05:08Speaker 13: than he would have you know what years ago.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: I'm sorry you kind of cut out a little bit
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: you said with the way the league is now and
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: I heard, I didn't hear, like, with what.
- 1:05:19Speaker 13: The way there's few with the wards player safety, you know,
- 1:05:21Speaker 13: let's high impact and things of that nature. I think
- 1:05:25Speaker 13: he's got a better chance nowadays than he would have
- 1:05:28Speaker 13: had like several years ago.
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I would disagree only because I just think it's
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: too much wear and tear, Like it's not about physicality,
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: it's fatigue, like he's playing like every snap of those
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: Colorado games. And now, on one hand, I would say,
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: you guys know that I don't think a whole lot
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: of Dion Sanders as a coach. It's borderline criminal what
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: they're doing in the kids' careers, coach prime, they're taking
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: they're taking time off of his career, as you know,
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: right in front of our eyes. But at the same time,
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: I wonder, like, if he was just playing wide receiver,
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: what we know as much about Travis Hunter because it's
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: a bad team, right, and we don't we wouldn't really,
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: you know. But because Sanders is his coach and he's
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: playing both ways, we know everything about Travis Hunter and
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: he's terrific, you know, So I wonder, you know, how
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: much of that would be the case if he was
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: only playing one way.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: Right, thanks Christian, you know. And the other thing about
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: playing both ways in the NFL is you know, you're
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: never off the field. So if you're defensive coordinator is
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: making adjustments to the sideline you're not privy to because
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: you're out on the field. You're not part of those
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: sideline you know, unit meetings.
- 1:06:38Speaker 6: None, he's in the wide receiver position. No, that's I mean,
- 1:06:40Speaker 6: that's where I would do.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: And I mean I think he's a better wide receiver
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: too that he is a corner.
- 1:06:43Speaker 6: But but maybe it's it's something in your back pocket
- 1:06:46Speaker 6: that you know, we've seen years where the Patriots are
- 1:06:49Speaker 6: scrambling on defense, that you know you've got some.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: Potential luxury to have. It's a good luxury to have.
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: But I'm not necessarily interested in drafting a guy with
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: the intentions of playing both ways.
- 1:07:00Speaker 9: If anything, it's appealing that he just has the skill
- 1:07:02Speaker 9: set because you think it would help him as a receiver.
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and I love I love the player. He's
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: really good. Oh yeah, I love him.
- 1:07:09Speaker 6: Catch crazy.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: Mark and fall River writes in excited for Week one
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: and the season. The major reason I'm excited for the
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: season is we took a quarterback with the third overall pick.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: That draft pick is the prism through which everything that
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: happens to the team for at least the next four
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: to five years will be viewed. With that being said,
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: I want to play a game to get a feel
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: for the success slash failure of this pick. I'm going
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: to list some quarterbacks that are not top three quarterbacks.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: If you end up thinking of Drake May like you
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: think of the quarterbacks below, will it be successful.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: Pick or a failed pick? Like games all right?
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: Justin Herbert success success, Kirk Cousins, I'd be disappointed.
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: I'd be disappointed. Jared Goff, but a success ish I'd
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: like a little bit.
- 1:08:00Speaker 6: I think him.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: I think he can be a more dangerous Trevor Lawrence
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: disappointed so far as it is. I'm not done with
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: Trevor Lawrence, but I'm a little disappointed, I'd.
- 1:08:16Speaker 5: Say little disappointed. I think Drake may can be better
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: than that.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: Matt Stafford, I'd be very happy with that. And finally,
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: Dak Prescott.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: I'd be pretty happy with that. Yeah, there's a good list. Though.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: He did a good job of sort of identifying guys
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: that are kind of polarizing.
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: I think I think Herbert's the interesting one, just because that's,
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: you know, kind of the similar package, and you know,
- 1:08:40Speaker 6: and even he hasn't really had team success yet, you know,
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: and that it's still though you're on board with him
- 1:08:45Speaker 6: and you know, building the team around him, even though
- 1:08:48Speaker 6: he didn't won a playoff game yet.
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: Right, So, Mike, you said that you watched a little
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: of that McDaniel's thing with with Edelman Alex.
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: Did you catch any of that?
- 1:08:56Speaker 10: Yeah, not the whole thing.
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: So I thought it was interesting, Like I didn't really
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: have much interest in going back the Ravens game because Mike,
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: you know no, but like, no, you know it, we lived.
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: We already did that with with with Josh McDaniels. We
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: don't need to go back and see someone else steal
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: all our thoughts and opinions. But he was talking about
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: may he was getting McDaniels was talking a little bit
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: of Drake made you hear to think about his cleats. Yes,
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: how they both Julian's. He's got to grow up. He's
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: got to get a real, real pair of cleats. He
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: can't have the slip on.
- 1:09:25Speaker 6: It's funny you brought that up. Yeah, Like, get the
- 1:09:27Speaker 6: heavier pair of cleats, is what he said, because it
- 1:09:29Speaker 6: you know, he got stepped on and it got pulled off.
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: But he's not one hundred and twenty five pounds. He
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: needs a heavier pair of cleats, and you know you
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: can't have it being I thought that was taken off, Like.
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: I think that that's good advice.
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: Absolutely, yeah, absolutely, the subtlety of everything that goes into
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: into it.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: You know. I remember being at Brady's locker and he
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: had all these boxes and each box was labeled cold
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: snow rain and they were his gloves, and I imagine
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: he does that with his gloves, he does that with
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: his cleats. But that's the winning edge. That's the detail, maniacle, Yeah,
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: you have to be that way to get the edge.
- 1:10:06Speaker 6: I used to love that stuff. That was some of
- 1:10:08Speaker 6: my favorite stuff in hockey would be like, you know,
- 1:10:10Speaker 6: getting my helmet just right, or getting the glove, you know,
- 1:10:12Speaker 6: getting the stick, like getting the bend and the you know,
- 1:10:14Speaker 6: the toe curve and the stick that I really wanted.
- 1:10:16Speaker 6: You know, I just I ate all that stuff up.
- 1:10:18Speaker 6: And even in football, like the first day with freshman football.
- 1:10:21Speaker 7: You get your helmet.
- 1:10:21Speaker 6: I was just like, oh my god, this is so
- 1:10:23Speaker 6: you know. Then my Dad's like, let's go to the
- 1:10:25Speaker 6: park and I put the helmet on. I'm like, you know,
- 1:10:26Speaker 6: and the shoulder pads and you're like this is really hard.
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: Yeah, Well, how surprised would you be if I told
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: you that I was very much into that stuff from
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: high school.
- 1:10:34Speaker 7: Right, not so much anymore, but oh.
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: No, that's why I was like, I couldn't care even
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: a little bit. Had to have the right face about
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: what uniforms they're wearing and whatever.
- 1:10:44Speaker 13: You know.
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: You know, I will say I like those uniforms. I
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: don't like those but that's it, that's the extent of it.
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: But I was maniacal. Well, Hackey's got a lot.
- 1:10:51Speaker 6: Of equipment too that you have to you know, like
- 1:10:53Speaker 6: there's like, how do you transition from your skate to
- 1:10:55Speaker 6: your shim pads?
- 1:10:56Speaker 7: Is your tongue out?
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: Is it in?
- 1:10:57Speaker 7: You know, there's all this like subtlety to you know,
- 1:10:59Speaker 7: hockey stuff is.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: There's so much. So it's also changed so much like
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: now football players it's like no one ever wears sleeves,
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: like well, the uniforms themselves were kind of long sleeves
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: when I played, you know, they you know, they used
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: to come at least below the elbow, right, So I
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: used to you know, our uniforms were red, Our home
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: uniforms were red, and I used to wear a white
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: shirt underneath it, so just a little white showed with
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: the red and then the road uniforms were white, and
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: I had a red shirt that that kind of a towel.
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: My towels got to be right, like had to be perfect,
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: just slightly askew to the left because I'm lefty. I
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: needed to keep the left hand who I mean hand dry.
- 1:11:38Speaker 6: Anything special with the towel, the standard towel that wasn't
- 1:11:40Speaker 6: embroidered or anything of this.
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: No kerry cloth. We also had these long shirt Like
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: again this is like a long time ago, so it
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: don't all no, but like they used to have these shirts,
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: and you know, they were basically made for linemen, Like
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: they would go down down, like really low, and they
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: actually would button like almost like a one body suit. Yeah,
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: you could wear it, but but no one ever used
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: that right, and it was just kind of annoying. It
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: was kind of like in the way and stuff. So
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: we used to cut them. And then because we never
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: got to take our uniforms home, they got they were
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: they were laundered for us, you know, so I cut
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: it off when one week and it came back all hemmed.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: It was like it was like this that way, it
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: doesn't fray.
- 1:12:27Speaker 6: I always saw that those the senior football players were
- 1:12:30Speaker 6: the coolest who had like their shirt cut off with
- 1:12:32Speaker 6: like their abs out.
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: And it was a good thing that I did not
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: play in that era because I never had those abs
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: that I could never even when I would, even when
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: I was skinny, I did not have that.
- 1:12:41Speaker 6: Did Andy wear a neck guard?
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: Like neck guard and a half cut shit.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: Perfect?
- 1:12:48Speaker 7: A visor?
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: Maybe even I don't know if he had a visor?
- 1:12:52Speaker 5: Do you ever remember him talking about visor?
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: No, I don't think he had the vice.
- 1:12:55Speaker 6: I had the stupid I had this stupid horse collar,
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: like I mean, I can't even hit you.
- 1:12:59Speaker 7: I'm a freshman football player. It's like there's no reason, but.
- 1:13:01Speaker 10: You gotta look the part thought like.
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: What number am I going to be?
- 1:13:04Speaker 7: I did you care about number? What number you were
- 1:13:06Speaker 7: to be a quarterback?
- 1:13:07Speaker 6: Number like twelve or something.
- 1:13:08Speaker 7: That's where we got the lie.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: Did you wear a did you wear underneath your face?
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: I did?
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: I did for a long time. When yeah, across and.
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: Ross somebody to leave you.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: It was it the horn, It was it was the
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: horn fertility, the Horner fertility.
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: I knew, knew, knew that Fred would get to that.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: I knew you would. And you don't you know You're
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: never disappoint Yes, he knows me so well. It's so scary.
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: But like when I it wasn't a coach, when I
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: wasn't like, no, I didn't do that. When I was
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: in youth, like Pop Warner, I I never took it
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: off like every shout. I never ever took the chain off.
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: So I would so I would wear it. And then
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: I got tackled once be a horse, callar today, get you,
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: and the chain came up and it kind of left
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: the red mark and I was like, you know what,
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: I'm not gonna wear that anymore. And I like in
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: high school it was I think it was like in
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: a JV game my sophomore year that happened and I
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: was like, I don't want that to get broken.
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: I don't want to get strangled.
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: So I stopped. I stopped wearing it.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: All right, good good stuff, good good old uniform.
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: Oh the socks. See, we also had a like now
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: like no one wears socks like you know, or they're
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: like ankle socks, like your whole calf is. Our socks
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: were up to the knee. Yeah you know, because you
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: probably had that too.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: Right when I played it was some guys had it,
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: some guys.
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: Didn't see everybody had socks.
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: Yeah. When I played, the pads were always like you had,
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: like we had the crappiest equipment.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: Oh yeah, around there's another one, another uniform staple of mind.
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: We had girdle pads, right and they were separate. Like now,
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: it's like they make all this stuff. It's phenomenal, the stuff.
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: It's all like it just you wear like a pair
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: of spandex on that has the pads in it. It's right right, Well,
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: we had actual girdle pads that you had to put
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: the pads in and there was like a pad that
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: would stick out like this much. Well you touch your
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: shirt inside that pad, you left the pad out right
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: right right right.
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: That meant you, That meant you were a skill guy.
- 1:15:15Speaker 6: Well, we were still getting the pads that you guys
- 1:15:16Speaker 6: had as I was like early nineties. But it's the
- 1:15:18Speaker 6: same leftover and especially when I was playing Freshman TV,
- 1:15:21Speaker 6: like you're getting the hand me downs and like the
- 1:15:23Speaker 6: girdle thing was like a pair of shorts if you
- 1:15:25Speaker 6: were lucky that had the two hip pads and the
- 1:15:27Speaker 6: like butt crack pad and which I don't think guys
- 1:15:28Speaker 6: even still wear the butt crack pad, like like it
- 1:15:31Speaker 6: was like one right on there it I don't think that.
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: I don't think they were.
- 1:15:35Speaker 7: And then the five pads and then.
- 1:15:36Speaker 6: The knee pads wear everything Now they don't.
- 1:15:39Speaker 4: Know what they do.
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: Like they cut the knee pad in half, so it's
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: like this big little dum like it used to be
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: a huge thing.
- 1:15:45Speaker 6: Oh yeah, yeah, right, And Lottle called floppy around. It
- 1:15:47Speaker 6: didn't look good. It wasn't it wasn't sexy.
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: Jake writes in I was wondering what your thoughts are
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: on Tom Brady's recent comments about how rookie quarterbacks are
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: thrown into early and how he thinks the Patriots are
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: doing the right thing with Drake. I'm in the camp
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: of wanting to see the kids start whenever he got
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: the playbook down, cleaned up what he needs to clean up.
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: But I'd be lying if I said the goats comments
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: don't have me considering how valuable watching from a safe
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: spot is to an extent.
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: But don't you think that that was valuable for him?
- 1:16:17Speaker 6: Mike, Yeah, I mean yeah, I mean he's gonna I
- 1:16:21Speaker 6: just I think there's a balance to it.
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: But but Breer was on today with Beatle and Zolac
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: and he was talking about since Drew Locker, I think
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: I forget what year that was, two thousand, Jake Locker, Locker, whatever.
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: But since that time, there's been like forty eight quarterbacks
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: taken in the first round or something like that, and
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: only three of them, yeah, had a Red.
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: It goes to eight with Matt Ryan. That's where it starts.
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: Only three of them had a Locker is one of
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: the red shirts.
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and of.
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: Course Mahomes is the other, and Jordan Love was the third.
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: And all of them, you know, had quarterbacks, established quarterbacks,
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: and they had playoff aspirations even without that guy that
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: they just drafted. He said, historically, it'll be very hard
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: for the Patriots to not play Drake May this year,
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: you know, just a clamor for him will be there.
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: And and but.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: I don't think it's I think it's less, Oh, we
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: have to play him because our fans want to, you know,
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: in the media.
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: I think it just makes sense to get him in
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: at some point.
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: I really do.
- 1:17:32Speaker 6: I you know, I mean independent that Yakobe were sat
- 1:17:35Speaker 6: what what what are they waiting like?
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: Let them you know, a.
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: Little spoiler alert.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: Our first PU show on TV will be tomorrow on
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: channel thirty eight. Oh today, maybe tonight, Today's thursdaynight, right
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: today on channel thirty eight.
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: What time believe it's at TV thirty eight right after
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: time time, So just click over during the halftime of
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: the The fell.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll post it on Patriots dot com. But little spoiler,
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: I talk about my take on you know, whether or
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: not Drake may should play. But I think, you know,
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: let them watch a few games, see let the coaches
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: see what their offense looks like because they don't know,
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: and then then insert them into you know, something that
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: is a known entity.
- 1:18:25Speaker 6: Patriots down by two scores fourth quarter, if you want
- 1:18:28Speaker 6: them to want them in just generally this season this season, no,
- 1:18:32Speaker 6: I mean not necessarily.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: No, I would prefer bring injury. I prefer to have
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: them start the game whatever the game.
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't like and I know that I'm nitpicking
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: the exact scenario, Like that's too close. The other team
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: is going to still be playing.
- 1:18:48Speaker 7: I don't I don't even touchdown, Like do you want them.
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: To get like basically you want them to mop up?
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: No problem with that, like to me down two in
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: the fourth quarter the other teams Like that's kalais Campbell
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: landing on Matt mac Jones time, Like, that's.
- 1:19:01Speaker 6: Not a bad example, you know what I mean. I
- 1:19:02Speaker 6: don't know exactly what you mean, but if I was saying,
- 1:19:04Speaker 6: it came out of reach, and you know, is there
- 1:19:07Speaker 6: value to that?
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: Like or is this just I think there's some value? Now,
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: it's not the same as starting a game. Of course,
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: if that's all the actually gets. I'm a thousand percent
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: with Fred that's not enough.
- 1:19:16Speaker 6: But a couple of drives and you start already saying
- 1:19:18Speaker 6: he's been in a couple of times, he's led a
- 1:19:20Speaker 6: couple of drives.
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: He's so Christian's question, like back to Christian's original point
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: in that call when he said if they're zer and four, Like,
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: I don't think that has anything to do with it.
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: I think it's all about may And you know, how
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: do you know? Like I've been reading a lot about
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: and what was what is the name of that technique
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: that Mayo mention?
- 1:19:38Speaker 5: Is the fine min trikenique?
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: I'm sorry, not the strike There's not not Scott Peters,
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: not the strike system quest Tech.
- 1:19:45Speaker 6: Sure, I'm not sure.
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: I'm not sure there was so the idea of the
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: quarterbacks sort of running the game plan, Like you give
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: the game plan to the quarterbacks, and now Drake May's
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: job is to sort of deliver that game plan, did
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: you Kobe Brissett sort of establishing an understanding of what
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: we're doing.
- 1:20:04Speaker 6: If you can teach your wrench, you can dodge it,
- 1:20:06Speaker 6: you know, right.
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: Dodged up, dive and dodge.
- 1:20:10Speaker 10: So much so.
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: If he's doing like, if they can put up things
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: like that, you know, put him in scenarios where he's
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: running the quarterback meeting and he's this is how they're
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: going to learn his aptitude for what he's what he's
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: trying to develop, right, and how see if he has
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: and then on the field, And I think once they
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: feel comfortable with that stuff, that's when I when I
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: do it, I don't care if they're you know, ohero
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: to eight or or not. If he's If they don't
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: feel like he can do that in the meetings, then
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: you got to stick with Brissette. If you do feel
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: like he can do it, then I would make the moment.
- 1:20:43Speaker 6: One more interesting thing about the McDaniels and and Andrews
- 1:20:47Speaker 6: talked about it too, So Andrews and and Hoyer on
- 1:20:49Speaker 6: the podcast. Andrews was talking about how both he and
- 1:20:53Speaker 6: Jacoby Brissett have been in the same system so they
- 1:20:55Speaker 6: can compare currently what they're doing back to what they
- 1:20:58Speaker 6: learned previously. But I think we've discussed in this system,
- 1:21:02Speaker 6: the center makes a lot of the calls, it's not
- 1:21:04Speaker 6: all on the quarterback. And Josh talked a little bit
- 1:21:06Speaker 6: about that of saying, you know, there's a direction now
- 1:21:09Speaker 6: our teams aren't putting it all on the quarterback. And
- 1:21:11Speaker 6: Josh kind of stood by what he believed. He said,
- 1:21:14Speaker 6: you know, I want a quarterback who can do everything
- 1:21:16Speaker 6: and you know he's not going to be thrown off
- 1:21:17Speaker 6: and he knows everything that's going on. So I mean
- 1:21:19Speaker 6: two different from Tom Brady right right. And I think,
- 1:21:22Speaker 6: you know, that's probably part of the issue was, you know,
- 1:21:24Speaker 6: he was maybe giving back the answers a little bit
- 1:21:26Speaker 6: in that regard early on. But it's just I thought
- 1:21:28Speaker 6: it was interesting that Josh, you know, still philosophically believes
- 1:21:32Speaker 6: you should put it all in your quarterback.
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: I think you got to know who your quarterback is,
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: you know, like if he can do that, great, you know.
- 1:21:40Speaker 6: There was one other thing I just saw too, because
- 1:21:41Speaker 6: we talked about Josh, that disconnect with Oh was Hoyer
- 1:21:45Speaker 6: thing from this?
- 1:21:45Speaker 10: Yeah, it was Hoyer and Andrews.
- 1:21:46Speaker 9: The players soft pretty much like the new generation of players.
- 1:21:51Speaker 6: And they because because of the take the bad the
- 1:21:53Speaker 6: bad plays on the film bad plays, and he said,
- 1:21:56Speaker 6: they said Bill would do like ten bad plays, which
- 1:21:58Speaker 6: are infamous about going through film, and he said Josh did.
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: Like two or three.
- 1:22:02Speaker 6: And the guys were not having it.
- 1:22:04Speaker 5: Bryan, Bryan's talked to me a little bit about that.
- 1:22:06Speaker 7: A bunch of babies when he came in.
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: He did this when he did the podcast the Pats
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: from the Past podcast. I think Matt and I talked
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: to him about it and he said, you know, it's
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: just one of those deals, like he never thought anything
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: of it because he's been around fifteen years and that's
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: you know, it's coaching. You have to be able to take.
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: They they didn't like what the hell are we doing?
- 1:22:25Speaker 10: They didn't like levels of resilience.
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: Bubba writes, income Alex has that resistance. She's she's of that.
- 1:22:32Speaker 10: I had a hard life.
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: Oh okay, I didn't mean you come from the heart
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: household Springfield.
- 1:22:44Speaker 10: Oh, I got the trauma. But like a lot of
- 1:22:46Speaker 10: work on this.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: There's a lot of people that come from that kind
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: of a background.
- 1:22:49Speaker 6: Yeah, the worst thing that.
- 1:22:53Speaker 9: Ever is the worst thing that ever happened to you.
- 1:22:56Speaker 9: So if that's like losing a material item, that's the
- 1:23:00Speaker 9: worst thing that ever happened to you. And that's your
- 1:23:02Speaker 9: barameter for what you can kind of handle. Whereas someone
- 1:23:05Speaker 9: has gone through hell can probably know they can handle
- 1:23:08Speaker 9: a lot more.
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: You could think that she should be like a motivational
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: speaker or something too. I just like the worst thing
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: that's ever happened to the worst that happened to much.
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: Just poty mouth today, which much I liked.
- 1:23:20Speaker 10: I came hot today, I.
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: Do, and I like that because I feel like I'm
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: not the only one.
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: With the bubble rites in. My question is that the
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: Pats used to be famous for their discipline. They would
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: never beat themselves. It was the other teams who made
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: sloppy plays. But since twenty twenty they started being sloppy
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: with pre snap penalties, stupid plays even under Bill. What happened?
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: Why is it still going on? And how will they
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: fix it? I am okay with the rebuild as long
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: as they don't beat themselves.
- 1:23:48Speaker 6: Yeah that's I mean, I think of everything you point
- 1:23:50Speaker 6: to Bill like, you know, at the end, that was
- 1:23:52Speaker 6: what was most jarring to me, was that's what you
- 1:23:54Speaker 6: thought you could hang your hand hat on and post Brady.
- 1:23:56Speaker 6: It's like, all right, you know, we don't have the
- 1:23:58Speaker 6: Brady anymore. But at least hopefully this defense is going
- 1:24:01Speaker 6: to be play hard. They're not gonna beat themselves. They're
- 1:24:03Speaker 6: gonna be painting the button. You're gonna have to put
- 1:24:05Speaker 6: them down every time. They're not going to put themselves down.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: Coaching obviously it starts with that. But then the quality
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: of the.
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: Players I shouldn't say, can I go with the easy
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: answer is that the rusher is not as good as
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: it was, right.
- 1:24:16Speaker 9: And like I think any offensive player would do anything
- 1:24:19Speaker 9: to not disappoint Tom Brady. And did they feel that
- 1:24:22Speaker 9: way about mac Jones? Were they playing to that level
- 1:24:25Speaker 9: with me?
- 1:24:26Speaker 6: I wonder if they felt that way about Bill anymore,
- 1:24:28Speaker 6: like if they were still buying what he was selling,
- 1:24:30Speaker 6: you know, And.
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: I don't know if they did, but that didn't make
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: them jump offside, and that didn't make them not know
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: when they were supposed to be on the field. Yeah, well,
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: I I'm with Fred, like I think that we always
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: gave all of that credit to the coaches, where maybe
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: the players deserved a little bit more credit for being
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: ridiculously disciplined and ridiculously clutch when games were on the
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: line and not beating themselves. Yeah, you know, let's get
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: to the phones.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: We've got a couple in. We've gotta hurry because we've
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: got to get the picks. Boston Cream on the line.
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: What's up? What's up?
- 1:25:01Speaker 6: Creamy my donut?
- 1:25:02Speaker 7: What's up?
- 1:25:04Speaker 13: Hey? Bred? Is it true that you kissed Tom Brady
- 1:25:07Speaker 13: on the cheek?
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:25:09Speaker 6: Cheeks?
- 1:25:09Speaker 13: Did you kiss Mac Jones on the cheek?
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: No?
- 1:25:13Speaker 13: Well, what are you going to do with Drake May?
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: To be determined? You know, it's up to Drake Mary
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: to be determined. That's yeah, it's up to Drake.
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: Drake Mary has all that in front of him for.
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: The sake of Drake.
- 1:25:25Speaker 13: Quick question, who has a more successful season? Drake May
- 1:25:30Speaker 13: if he had the two thousand and seven roster, or
- 1:25:33Speaker 13: Tom Brady if he walked onto this seam right now.
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: That's a good one.
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: I'm gonna say Tom Brady.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: Yeah, Tom Brady if he walked on with us on
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: the field. Yeah, it's a that's a good question though.
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: That's a good question the season. Yeah, is Drake May
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: a rookie in two thousand and seven? Is he walking
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: on as a rookie?
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: Said yeah, yeah, but but if you just put Drake
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: made right now on the twenty seven team, or Tom
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: Brady right now and.
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: Tom Brady win when he was a rookie, No, he said,
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: right now Brady, tom Brady retired, Tom Brady.
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, to see.
- 1:26:10Speaker 6: Thanks, thanks for the called Andy Moss down the field.
- 1:26:13Speaker 3: I like, I like that.
- 1:26:14Speaker 21: Austin Cream go ahead walking from the Yeah, we'll get
- 1:26:20Speaker 21: one more call and then we'll turn to Evan to
- 1:26:23Speaker 21: see what he has to say.
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: A wala owls, A.
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: W a l s is that?
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: Do I have that oasis in Easton? What's up? Oasis? Hey?
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: Not much?
- 1:26:36Speaker 13: Hey, I got our question for Paul.
- 1:26:40Speaker 14: I wanted to know as far as the line and
- 1:26:42Speaker 14: the protection, Uh, why did we go away from the
- 1:26:45Speaker 14: pullback like when we used to James doublin you know,
- 1:26:49Speaker 14: and then after James Deblin.
- 1:26:50Speaker 13: Like those years.
- 1:26:52Speaker 14: Uh we had that German fella and after him, like
- 1:26:54Speaker 14: we never really went back to pull back Like.
- 1:26:58Speaker 18: Yeah, for card and they have a fall it like
- 1:27:03Speaker 18: you know, run offense, you know, like, why can't we
- 1:27:07Speaker 18: go back tours?
- 1:27:08Speaker 14: How do you that?
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it's a it's a good question. We've gotten
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: it a few times, I know, the last couple of
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: times I've done the mail bag. I'm sure you guys
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: are getting it as well. I think it's you know,
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: for the running game. It wouldn't necessarily help in pass
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: protection because you wouldn't have two backs necessarily in the
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: backfield on obvious passing situations. But there's an argument to
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: be made that, you know, you can have a lead
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: blocker in the run game when you want to rely
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: so much on being physical and pound away. I just
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: don't think that that's necessarily been a staple for Cleveland.
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: I'm not a huge fan of the fullback unless you
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: have a really special talent. Yeah, like a guy who
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: has ridiculous versatility, who can be physical at the point
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: of attack, who can be athletic in space and catch
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: the ball as a receiver. There aren't a lot of
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: those guys around, you know. I know that the Ravens
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: do it with the opposite. It's just the big mammoth
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: guy who is like a tackle. You know, he's so big.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: But I'm not you know, I'm not a huge fan
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: of I feel like taking skill off the field is
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: a step in the wrong direction for a team that's
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: sort of lacking game breaking plays, A.
- 1:28:19Speaker 14: Quick follow uh you know the Shanahan I think also
- 1:28:24Speaker 14: close offense on they utilize right.
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: So right it Mike just talked about him. Yeah, if
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: we had a guy like that, I wouldn't be opposed
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: to it. But it's hard to find those guys. There's one.
- 1:28:40Speaker 17: Yeah, I'm big full backs.
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: Oasis love fullbacks. Evans here.
- 1:28:48Speaker 11: Has has Has.
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: All Right, you're back from practice and the locker room
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: and yeah, the big date to a lot going on today?
- 1:29:05Speaker 22: Who in terms of practice, let's start there because that's
- 1:29:09Speaker 22: what I'm here for. No City so still at Patriots practice.
- 1:29:13Speaker 22: He's the lone player missing from the fifty to three
- 1:29:15Speaker 22: man roster. Don't know what's going on with Jocelyn Russell,
- 1:29:18Speaker 22: but we haven't seen him the last couple of days either.
- 1:29:20Speaker 22: But City' so missing. We saw a lot of Michael
- 1:29:24Speaker 22: Jordan at left guard, so that might be where the
- 1:29:27Speaker 22: winds are blowing in terms of who's going to start
- 1:29:30Speaker 22: the game off at left guard on Sunday in place
- 1:29:34Speaker 22: of So.
- 1:29:35Speaker 17: But that was really the biggest update.
- 1:29:37Speaker 22: You know, there was some We're still doing the whole
- 1:29:40Speaker 22: stay for one period, leave and come back things, so
- 1:29:42Speaker 22: that's why it takes so long.
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: Yeah, but so.
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: Just from what you know, Yes, give me the starting
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: five on the line.
- 1:29:50Speaker 22: Going left to right, Yep, Jukes, Michael Jordan, David andrews
- 1:29:54Speaker 22: Leyden Robinson, big Mic. Okay, I would put money on
- 1:29:59Speaker 22: that being it at this point. You know, I think
- 1:30:01Speaker 22: Nick Leverett has a chance to maybe rotate in there.
- 1:30:04Speaker 22: It's week one, so I don't know if anybody's gonna
- 1:30:06Speaker 22: go wire to wire. Usually they do have a little
- 1:30:08Speaker 22: bit of a rotation in certain spots, but it seems
- 1:30:11Speaker 22: to me like Michael Jordan is really a guard only
- 1:30:14Speaker 22: type player, whereas Leverett can back up all three spots.
- 1:30:17Speaker 22: So if there's an injury in game, it's easier to
- 1:30:20Speaker 22: you know, put Leverett in at right guard, center, left
- 1:30:23Speaker 22: guard versus Jordan. So maybe that would be the case,
- 1:30:25Speaker 22: but they'll have to call Jordan up from the practice squad.
- 1:30:28Speaker 22: It'll have to be an elevation, so that'll take up
- 1:30:30Speaker 22: one of those What do.
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: You guys think if there's rotation at tackle, what it
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: would look like?
- 1:30:37Speaker 22: Yeah, We did see Vederian Lowe out there today and
- 1:30:39Speaker 22: it seemed like he was doing a little bit more
- 1:30:41Speaker 22: than what we saw out of him yesterday. So maybe
- 1:30:44Speaker 22: there is a possibility that him and choops of Korf
- 1:30:46Speaker 22: could be in a rotation at left tackle. I think
- 1:30:49Speaker 22: Big Mike, if he's gonna play right tackle, they're gonna
- 1:30:52Speaker 22: try to see him go the distance.
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: I would expect to see Leverett at both guards at
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: some point. If it's gonna be Jordan and Robinson, I
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: would expect to see some of rotation. Does that mean
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: Andrews goes the distance? Probably because I don't think they
- 1:31:02Speaker 3: feel comfortable with anybody back in the mama.
- 1:31:04Speaker 17: Yeah, it's a fair point.
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: It's true. What else even any other thoughts that you
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:31:10Speaker 22: No, not a ton you know, this is the first
- 1:31:12Speaker 22: day that I don't believe we saw them in the pennies,
- 1:31:15Speaker 22: you know yesterday where you know you have scout team
- 1:31:18Speaker 22: guys wearing numbers of the opposing players. So we're really
- 1:31:21Speaker 22: starting to get into regular season practices now where you
- 1:31:25Speaker 22: see scout team.
- 1:31:26Speaker 17: Guys and things like that.
- 1:31:28Speaker 22: And like I mentioned, where we were in for period one,
- 1:31:31Speaker 22: which was stretching out for period two, which is still
- 1:31:34Speaker 22: I believe a walk through period. They don't want to
- 1:31:36Speaker 22: seeing then back in for three and four. But they
- 1:31:40Speaker 22: cut period five today, so we didn't quite see as
- 1:31:43Speaker 22: much as.
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: So when you go away for the period, then come back.
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: When you go away, guys play cards like what do you.
- 1:31:50Speaker 22: Well, we were trying to advocate for some like maybe
- 1:31:53Speaker 22: some blankets or chairs or something for us to kind
- 1:31:56Speaker 22: of sit on while we were waiting to go back in.
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: So no one prompt to poker games or no.
- 1:32:01Speaker 22: No, just a lot of talk, you know, football, obviously
- 1:32:05Speaker 22: some fantasy football. Some fantasy football chatter today had some
- 1:32:10Speaker 22: good fantasy football.
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: Oh god, I'm so disappointed I missed that.
- 1:32:15Speaker 17: It was fun. Yeah, it's fun. Yeah, I mean I
- 1:32:19Speaker 17: wouldn't go crazy. I'm just gonna see.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: I think that's the way they'll do it all year,
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: or it is just something you think specifically with special
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: teams they're trying to get installed.
- 1:32:27Speaker 22: I believe this will be the way we do it
- 1:32:29Speaker 22: the whole year, because this is not brand new. This
- 1:32:32Speaker 22: happened a little bit with under Bill as well. Or
- 1:32:35Speaker 22: that second period is like a walk through period where
- 1:32:38Speaker 22: they're putting the starting eleven in all three phases out there,
- 1:32:41Speaker 22: and they don't necessarily want to.
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: Do they bring you into a holding tank, like.
- 1:32:45Speaker 22: No, no, just right outside the gate and you know,
- 1:32:48Speaker 22: you know time, you know, yeah, get us out of here.
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: I just was wondering, like, once it gets starts getting cold,
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: if you get that time, So you go out there,
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: you get your ten.
- 1:33:01Speaker 7: I'm good.
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: And I don't need to see warm back in.
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: Order to get you there in a timely way because
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: you don't want to hold up. Is there like a
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: cattle prod involved. I don't even know.
- 1:33:11Speaker 13: What that is.
- 1:33:13Speaker 22: It's like a parade of media, I would call it,
- 1:33:16Speaker 22: and we all just kind of parade down there together.
- 1:33:19Speaker 22: But there are people that are starting to duck out
- 1:33:23Speaker 22: after stretch, you know.
- 1:33:24Speaker 17: That's what I take my attendant, don't know.
- 1:33:27Speaker 22: And and a lot of a lot of those people
- 1:33:29Speaker 22: I don't want to name names because I want to
- 1:33:31Speaker 22: throw anybody under the bus, But a lot of those
- 1:33:33Speaker 22: people I assume are going to write up attendance. You know,
- 1:33:36Speaker 22: they write quick, you know, three hundred words on who
- 1:33:38Speaker 22: was at practice, and there's no there's really nothing to
- 1:33:41Speaker 22: glean from the two periods that they open up. It's
- 1:33:43Speaker 22: really for the cameras, like so that the TV stations
- 1:33:46Speaker 22: and stuff can get their bet there right, well, we
- 1:33:49Speaker 22: love ball says you know, so I I see, but
- 1:33:54Speaker 22: really it's for the TV cameras to get their b roll.
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: And this is kind of.
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: Stuff when they bring you winto this area. Is there
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: a group of guys in women who are you know,
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: the cooperative? Okay, it's time to go. And are there stragglers?
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: You know you really have trying to get going?
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: Yeah, there are something there are and there are are
- 1:34:16Speaker 3: the people taking notes, taking names.
- 1:34:19Speaker 17: Like people as in p R. What do you think?
- 1:34:21Speaker 22: Okay, yeah, absolutely, yeah I heard some grousing about that.
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: And do they get talking to? Have they been given
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: a talking to? You might.
- 1:34:30Speaker 22: Little slap on the wrist, you know, those are one
- 1:34:33Speaker 22: of those things that you know, if you're from an
- 1:34:35Speaker 22: external outlet, like maybe you bend it a little bit.
- 1:34:38Speaker 6: Me.
- 1:34:38Speaker 17: I'm like, I'm out right, so like you know, it's
- 1:34:40Speaker 17: a little bit different boy, exactly you are. Yeah, I
- 1:34:44Speaker 17: don't break any rules during practice.
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: All right, that's good.
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: And then later on they're going to be rewarded for
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: their cooperation with Chick fil At.
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: Today.
- 1:34:56Speaker 22: Well, now now it's over like the media that comes
- 1:34:59Speaker 22: down for availability. Their day is done and done, they
- 1:35:02Speaker 22: can go home, yeah, which is nice. And then the
- 1:35:04Speaker 22: new schedule is done, you can go home.
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:35:05Speaker 6: So tomorrow's done, you'll go home.
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: It'd be good. Yeah.
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:35:09Speaker 2: Well that's your practice report from Evan. Thank you, Evan.
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:35:13Speaker 2: And now it's time for our picks.
- 1:35:17Speaker 7: Wow, we're back.
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: No buys this week.
- 1:35:23Speaker 6: I had a lot of games.
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: We have to hurry so real quick.
- 1:35:26Speaker 3: I'll just give you a recap the final standards from
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: last year, Alex.
- 1:35:31Speaker 5: I want to give Alex your flowers.
- 1:35:32Speaker 17: We know how territorial she is, literally why she's here?
- 1:35:36Speaker 10: One seventy seven actually a secret, followed by.
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: Paul one seventy one, one oh one, uh, Mike third place,
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: one sixty eight, one oh four. Evan won sixty four
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: and one o eight, one sixty two and one ten
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: with the spread, however spread I spread to say what
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: you separated?
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: Bad as I was, I was still fifty two games
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: over five hundred.
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: There you go.
- 1:36:00Speaker 6: Only matters what we're against.
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: The sprint we'll get Yeah, we'll get to that. Paul
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: one one seventeen and eleven. That's just very good outrageous,
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: very good, outrageous, followed by Alex one thirty five, one
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: twenty six and eleven, Making Money Evan one twenty eight,
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: one thirty three and eleven, Fred won twenty five, one
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: thirty six and eleven and Mike one twenty four, one
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: thirty seven and eleven. You're losing.
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: Please please do not check the math.
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: I'm sure it's wrong, but that's what written now. It
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: is a little better than anyway. I don't care. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: I gave you losses that you didn't that. I didn't
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: say that anything that was wrong.
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: That was last year. This is this year, and so
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: let's get going. What's our order here? How are we
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: going to do this? Who's going to go first? Well?
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: I have it, Mike, alex Evan, Paul Fred.
- 1:36:48Speaker 2: Mike alex Evan, Paul Fred.
- 1:36:50Speaker 6: Okay, Fred, how's that? What's clockwise?
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: Mike Evan?
- 1:36:55Speaker 10: It goes the way of the clock.
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: It was a shot.
- 1:36:59Speaker 17: I haven't, I haven't.
- 1:37:00Speaker 2: I use my phone, Boomer, Hey, Boomer, I look at
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: my phone.
- 1:37:07Speaker 6: Hand Boomer sway in your apartment, hey Boomer.
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: All right, we gotta hurry to hurry.
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: We established that early.
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: We have to hurry all right tonight. The season opens
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: at eight twenty pm Eastern time on and be Sure
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: Telemundo and Universo. The Ravens are at the Chiefs is.
- 1:37:27Speaker 6: The banner on Peacock.
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: Oh, I thought this one was too anyway. Kansas City
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: by three.
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: Three, Casey by three.
- 1:37:36Speaker 6: All right, I'm gonna make a rule this year that
- 1:37:40Speaker 6: I'm just I'm gonna I'm gonna pay Kansas City and
- 1:37:41Speaker 6: even though against Baltimore, I'm gonna ta Kansas City. I'll
- 1:37:44Speaker 6: lay the three points. I just thought I can't bet
- 1:37:47Speaker 6: against the two time defending Super Bowl champs, So I'll
- 1:37:49Speaker 6: take at home the Chiefs.
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: That they'll be pumped and jacked.
- 1:37:52Speaker 5: Remember they lost in this spot last night.
- 1:37:54Speaker 9: That doesn't matter to me, but this year, like Patrick
- 1:37:58Speaker 9: carried that team last year and they still want Super Bowl,
- 1:38:00Speaker 9: and I think they're better this year.
- 1:38:02Speaker 10: Chiefs, Chiefs, Chiefs, Chiefs, Chiefs.
- 1:38:06Speaker 17: I'm taking Baltimore.
- 1:38:07Speaker 22: I feel like when you played in the AFC Championship
- 1:38:10Speaker 22: game and got your butts kicked the year before. The
- 1:38:12Speaker 22: Ravens a little bit more motivated than the Chiefs to
- 1:38:14Speaker 22: win this type of game. But I think Xavier Worthy
- 1:38:18Speaker 22: has a monster game and we all look at each
- 1:38:20Speaker 22: other like they had not like they got another one.
- 1:38:23Speaker 22: But I take the Ravens.
- 1:38:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I think this one could go either way. I
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: am going to take the Chiefs because they lost that
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: game last year in this spot, and I think they're
- 1:38:31Speaker 3: a little bit more focused than perhaps they were going
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: against Detroit, and you know, maybe Kadarius Tony will not
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: be gin the other team points like you did last year.
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: On a consistent basis, I will take the Chiefs both ways.
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: The correct answer is Evan Baltimore wins outright.
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: And just so people might be new to the show,
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: this is why Fred finishes so far behind everybody else,
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: because he has these things in his head where we
- 1:38:59Speaker 3: refuse to take the team.
- 1:39:00Speaker 5: He thinks he's going to win because he wants them
- 1:39:03Speaker 5: to lose.
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: Well, that's true. I do want the Chiefs random. I
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: could have both of them lose. I would because they're
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: in the AFC and you know the off ramification.
- 1:39:12Speaker 3: I could write a book on the random graduates. I
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: could write a book on it.
- 1:39:15Speaker 7: Yeah, but you're working on coffee table book.
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: But I am going with the Ravens.
- 1:39:19Speaker 3: I think the Ravens to me just I'm looking forward
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: to this game. So two really good teams. I hope
- 1:39:25Speaker 3: they both play well.
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I hope they both play tomorrow night in Soo U,
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: Brazil on Peacock exclusively. This is an eight to fifteen
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: pm Eastern time start. The Packers are at and I
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: put that in quotes the Eagles the Eagles of the
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: home team.
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: Say the Eagles by two.
- 1:39:45Speaker 6: Two. It's a tough one. I like both these teams.
- 1:39:48Speaker 6: I certainly respect the Eagles after seeing them this summer.
- 1:39:52Speaker 6: I just thought, you and Carter looks like he's ready
- 1:39:54Speaker 6: to have a monster year and take over for Fletcher Cox.
- 1:39:57Speaker 6: But I'm a big Green Bay fan too.
- 1:39:59Speaker 7: But I'm gonna go with Philadelphia.
- 1:40:02Speaker 6: Though in this one I will lay the points. I
- 1:40:04Speaker 6: just think they squeak it out.
- 1:40:07Speaker 9: I'm going to choose and un upset, though in some languages,
- 1:40:12Speaker 9: I don't think that's an actual word.
- 1:40:14Speaker 10: I don't know how you say upset and Portuguese, I
- 1:40:16Speaker 10: don't know. I'm choosing the upset green Bay.
- 1:40:21Speaker 3: Green Bay, yeah go.
- 1:40:22Speaker 22: I'm also taking Green Bay because the Eagles have done
- 1:40:25Speaker 22: nothing but wine about having to go to South Powell
- 1:40:28Speaker 22: for like two straight weeks. So I think Green Bay
- 1:40:30Speaker 22: wants to be there a little bit more than Philadelphia does.
- 1:40:33Speaker 22: So I'm going to take the pack.
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree with that assessment. Philadelphia has done a
- 1:40:38Speaker 3: lot of bitching about having to be in the hotel.
- 1:40:44Speaker 5: I'm gonna take the.
- 1:40:46Speaker 3: I just think they're more talented, and I think they
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: have reset refocused. We'll see if it lasts, We'll see
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: if Hurts and Sirianni can can get along. But I'm
- 1:40:56Speaker 3: going to take the Eagles out of the shoot here.
- 1:40:57Speaker 3: But this is another one I think could go either way.
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we talked about two really tough games weeks
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: to pick games. It's weeks one, two, and seventeen are
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: your toughest weeks to pick games. This game kind of
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: underscores that we have no idea if the Eagles are
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: going to turn it around after they fell off last year,
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: if Jordan Love is going to be the guy that
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: people hope he's going to be. So I'm gonna go
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: with the Eagles for what Paul said, I think they've
- 1:41:25Speaker 2: got a edge on talent.
- 1:41:28Speaker 3: But little slight. Yeah, but who knows.
- 1:41:30Speaker 7: These could mean These could be too good to conference.
- 1:41:32Speaker 6: These could be the two conference championship games.
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: Yeah, two good teams. I agree. All right.
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: Now we move to Sunday one o'clock game on Fox.
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: The Steelers are at the Falcons.
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: In Atlanta by three and a half.
- 1:41:48Speaker 6: This is a tough one here. I think a lot
- 1:41:50Speaker 6: of people feel like Atlanta's a little bit on the come,
- 1:41:53Speaker 6: you know, up and coming team. I'm not sure I
- 1:41:55Speaker 6: believe that yet. I just I think Pittsburgh's still kind
- 1:41:58Speaker 6: of trying to figure it out. So I'm going to
- 1:41:59Speaker 6: go with Atlanta. However, I'm gonna.
- 1:42:03Speaker 7: Take the hook the hook. It's not a hoof hoof,
- 1:42:07Speaker 7: the hook the hook.
- 1:42:08Speaker 3: So you're taking Atlanta, I'll take I'll take Pittsburgh, Okay,
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: Mike close one.
- 1:42:14Speaker 9: I'm gonna pick Atlanta. I'm gonna give Atlanta and our
- 1:42:17Speaker 9: friend Jude on the points as well.
- 1:42:21Speaker 22: Dirty birds, They're back Atlanta both ways. I really think
- 1:42:27Speaker 22: this is the year that it stinks for the Steelers.
- 1:42:29Speaker 22: I I know everybody says this every single year, that
- 1:42:32Speaker 22: this is the year that Tomlin loses, you know, below
- 1:42:35Speaker 22: five hundred.
- 1:42:36Speaker 17: But Russell Wilson is poor. I'm taking the Falcons.
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I Evan just took the words out of my mouth.
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: I'm taking Atlanta both ways, and I think that this
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: is the the end of the non losing season in Pittsburgh.
- 1:42:47Speaker 3: Russell Wilson is so done, so done.
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: Okay, see you. I am gonna go with the Falcons,
- 1:42:53Speaker 2: but I will take the hook and take those points
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: because I just I don't have confidence in the Falcons.
- 1:43:00Speaker 5: Ye're right.
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: It's kind of like years ago with the Lions. You'd
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: always be wrong, but you just never thought they were
- 1:43:06Speaker 2: gonna do it, and then they cover. But to see it, Yeah,
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: I will take the Falcons, but not to cover. One
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: o'clock on CBS, the Cardinals are at the Bills.
- 1:43:15Speaker 5: Buffalo by six and a half.
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: It's a big number. Six and a half.
- 1:43:19Speaker 6: That is a big number. Josh Allen, no more digs,
- 1:43:24Speaker 6: and I don't know. I'm gonna take Buffalo to win. Yeah,
- 1:43:29Speaker 6: I'm gonna lay the points too. I don't feel great
- 1:43:32Speaker 6: about that though. I feel like Arizona might have a
- 1:43:34Speaker 6: might be a little spunky this year.
- 1:43:37Speaker 10: Only because it's Week one.
- 1:43:40Speaker 9: I'm I'm gonna say that Buffalo wins the game, but
- 1:43:44Speaker 9: I don't think they cover.
- 1:43:47Speaker 17: Yeah, I'm with Alex.
- 1:43:48Speaker 22: I take Buffalo, but I'll take Arizona to cover that spread.
- 1:43:51Speaker 22: But Josh Allen MVP of the league.
- 1:43:54Speaker 10: This year, so you're back hot on, Josha.
- 1:43:56Speaker 3: I've always been never stopped. So I'm going to take
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: Buffalo both ways. I think, much like we talk about
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: Pittsburgh and all those things, this is like the fourth
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: year in a row that Buffalo's done.
- 1:44:09Speaker 5: I'm not buying it.
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: I think Buffalo will and I do think Arizona will
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: be better, by the way, but I think Buffalo will
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: roll roll.
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: I'm going to go Buffalo both ways.
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: But the window is closed again.
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: It's it's starting.
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: They closed the closed in twenty twenty one.
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: But okay, and look at Buffalo as being a possible
- 1:44:29Speaker 2: landing spot for one Bill Belichick next year. They're building
- 1:44:33Speaker 2: a new stadium. They could use that marketing boost you
- 1:44:36Speaker 2: bring them in for.
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: A few years.
- 1:44:37Speaker 2: It's on intult tickets and they're close because as long
- 1:44:41Speaker 2: as you get Josh Allen, you're close. So but Bills
- 1:44:45Speaker 2: both ways.
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: For this week.
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: Fox one o'clock, the Titans are at the Bears. And
- 1:44:52Speaker 2: by the way, all all records are oh and oh.
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: At this point. Sorry, good, thank you for that clarification.
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: Fred Chicago by three and a Hay three and.
- 1:45:01Speaker 6: A Hey, huh, Caleb Williams Roma Dunza. They got some
- 1:45:06Speaker 6: weapons in there. I'm not sure. I'm not sure what
- 1:45:11Speaker 6: will Levi iys uh and his agent group of weaponry.
- 1:45:14Speaker 6: I'm gonna take Chicago, gery swift, I'll lay the points.
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: That's the Chicago way, that is, I will.
- 1:45:21Speaker 9: Take Chicago as well. I think they're headed in the
- 1:45:23Speaker 9: right direction, like finally, but maybe I just like will
- 1:45:29Speaker 9: love us more than other people I'm gonna give I
- 1:45:33Speaker 9: don't know. Look, he's too young for me, but he's cuteez.
- 1:45:38Speaker 2: She's young for me.
- 1:45:41Speaker 3: All right, So Chicago and you're taking the points with Tennessee, Okay.
- 1:45:45Speaker 22: I'm gonna take Chicago both ways. I think the Titans
- 1:45:47Speaker 22: are gonna stink. I think they might be like number
- 1:45:49Speaker 22: one pick stink. That's all I got.
- 1:45:52Speaker 5: Uh, Yeah, the Titans are back to that.
- 1:45:54Speaker 3: You know how, I always call him the most anonymous
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: team in the league, nondescript team, Titans.
- 1:45:59Speaker 22: They don't even have Derrick Henry anymore.
- 1:46:01Speaker 17: Like it's it's not.
- 1:46:03Speaker 6: Tony Pollard dead to me.
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:46:05Speaker 6: They made some moves in free agency, but I think
- 1:46:07Speaker 6: Chicago I don't really remember.
- 1:46:09Speaker 5: I'm going to take Chicago here both ways forget.
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not saying this is a upset lock of
- 1:46:17Speaker 2: the week, but I'm pretty certain the Titans win this game.
- 1:46:21Speaker 2: Oh okay, yeah, and Paul, you can.
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: Talk about my motives. Who did you take Titans?
- 1:46:28Speaker 2: Outright?
- 1:46:31Speaker 5: I'm sorry?
- 1:46:32Speaker 10: What are the Chicago gems?
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: You're supposed to say? Well, you hope Caleb Williams doesn't
- 1:46:37Speaker 2: do well.
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: I didn't know you had a thing with Cale.
- 1:46:40Speaker 3: I don't really, but I hope he doesn't do well.
- 1:46:42Speaker 17: Doesn't because he paints his nail.
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: I actually think him doing well would be good for
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: the league, like Baker Mayfield.
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: Good for the league.
- 1:46:49Speaker 6: Think he cries?
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: I don't really that, Okay, So moving.
- 1:46:55Speaker 17: Along, I want to if they win or if he
- 1:46:57Speaker 17: does he cry.
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: If they lose, though, we gotta hurry. The Texans are
- 1:47:04Speaker 2: at the Colts.
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: It's a good one.
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: This is one of the two road favorites this week,
- 1:47:14Speaker 3: Houston by three, by.
- 1:47:16Speaker 6: Three, Anthony Richardson back. I'm going to take Houston on
- 1:47:19Speaker 6: the road. I think they live up to the hype.
- 1:47:21Speaker 6: They beat a divisional rival on the road. I'm still
- 1:47:25Speaker 6: not quite certain why there's some buzz around Indye but
- 1:47:28Speaker 6: I'm gonna go not.
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: I mean, they were competitive team last year, right, Yeah,
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: and they beat the Patriots.
- 1:47:33Speaker 6: I think Anthony started like what is he like sixteen?
- 1:47:36Speaker 3: The backup quarterback led them to within like two yards
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: of the playoffs. I think they were very competitive wile
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: Richardson was in there. They were not a bad team, no,
- 1:47:43Speaker 3: I know. In their back up led them to within
- 1:47:45Speaker 3: like one drive of the playoffs. They lost on the
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: last play of the game to Houston.
- 1:47:50Speaker 6: To make your pick, I'm waiting for that all day.
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: We have to hurt actually agreeing with me.
- 1:47:57Speaker 3: I am very much agreeing with you.
- 1:47:58Speaker 10: What's the spread again, I'm sorry.
- 1:48:00Speaker 3: Houston's favor by three, Houston Houston.
- 1:48:03Speaker 22: I'm also taking the Texans both ways. I don't buy
- 1:48:06Speaker 22: the Colt site at all. Don't buy it. I'm selling.
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: I will take Indy to win outright as a as
- 1:48:15Speaker 3: just a mild upset to start the season's right. Indian
- 1:48:19Speaker 3: game hasn't been played yet. I'm not right, INDI outright
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: one US. Much like when I was asked on TV
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: how much better the special teams are this year, and
- 1:48:27Speaker 3: I was like, well, they haven't played a game.
- 1:48:28Speaker 2: Yes, one o'clock CBS. The Jaguars are at the Dolphins.
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: Miami by three and a half.
- 1:48:38Speaker 6: Yeah, this is early season in Miami. Even though they're
- 1:48:41Speaker 6: playing another Florida team. I gotta imagine they're gonna rule.
- 1:48:44Speaker 6: I'll take Miami lay.
- 1:48:45Speaker 10: The points, Dolphins, Dolphins, I'm.
- 1:48:50Speaker 17: Taking the Jags.
- 1:48:51Speaker 22: I think this is a Trevor Lawrence statement game year.
- 1:48:54Speaker 22: I like it for the Jaguars.
- 1:48:57Speaker 3: Jacksonville I could definitely see. I could definitely see Trevor
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: Lawrence statement game because I think he was hurt last
- 1:49:04Speaker 3: year and yeah, that was a big part of why
- 1:49:06Speaker 3: he fell off so badly in the second half. I
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: will take Miami for Mike's reasons. I think McDaniel that offense,
- 1:49:12Speaker 3: they always come out smoking.
- 1:49:14Speaker 22: Yeah, it's because he's in the lab all summer.
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna take the Jaguars to win this game.
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: Okay, now now that that one I have the I
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: have that chapter. I know that I know that.
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: They're not going to be affected by the weather as
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: some teams might be.
- 1:49:29Speaker 5: That's true.
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: You know, Jacksonville is not going to go down there
- 1:49:32Speaker 3: and melt.
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: So I'll go with the Jaguars, and I agree. I
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: think Trevor Lawrence has a lot to prove still in
- 1:49:38Speaker 2: this league. He has not lived up to his billing
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: coming out of Clemson. But I you know, I still
- 1:49:45Speaker 2: think he's a really good quarterback. I think he toughs
- 1:49:48Speaker 2: through injuries. I think there's a couple of games he
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: shouldn't have played, but he did because he's a tough kid.
- 1:49:54Speaker 3: Tough kid despite the long hair kids.
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: But so I think I think he's got a lot
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: to prove, and I think he's going to prove it
- 1:50:02Speaker 2: this year.
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: So you know what happened in the last content VP
- 1:50:05Speaker 3: that talked.
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: Like right, So I'll take the Jaguars. One o'clock on Fox.
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: The Panthers are at the Saints.
- 1:50:14Speaker 3: Of the Saints by three and a half. This might
- 1:50:18Speaker 3: be the worst game of the week. These could be
- 1:50:20Speaker 3: two of the worst three teams in football.
- 1:50:22Speaker 6: Yeah, that's why I'm going to just take the home
- 1:50:24Speaker 6: team New Orleans and I will lay the points.
- 1:50:28Speaker 10: Yeah, Saints, I guess are we all on the Saints?
- 1:50:32Speaker 17: Yeah?
- 1:50:32Speaker 5: OK, Yeah, I'm gonna take the Saints.
- 1:50:34Speaker 2: Too, all right, Fox? One o'clock, The Vikings are at
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: the Giants.
- 1:50:42Speaker 5: Vikings Giants.
- 1:50:44Speaker 3: This is the other road favorite, Minnesota by two uh.
- 1:50:49Speaker 6: Sam Darnold versus Daniel Jones. I think Giants might be
- 1:50:53Speaker 6: wearing those terrible uniforms.
- 1:50:55Speaker 17: That changes everything.
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: You know what.
- 1:50:57Speaker 6: I'm gonna take the up the home upset. I'm gonna
- 1:50:59Speaker 6: take the he hunted this uh, and I will take
- 1:51:02Speaker 6: the points.
- 1:51:03Speaker 2: Please.
- 1:51:05Speaker 10: I'm also taking the home upset.
- 1:51:07Speaker 17: Yeah, I like the Giants here.
- 1:51:09Speaker 2: Wow mhm.
- 1:51:11Speaker 17: So we're all like, I thinkable.
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: Well, I was gonna say in my pregame analysis here,
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: I think Brian Dable, we all think he's a good coach,
- 1:51:21Speaker 2: a good head coach.
- 1:51:23Speaker 13: Uh.
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: And this will be the year that he has a
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: chance to really prove that.
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: I have a terrible team.
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: I know, but if they do moderately well this year,
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: it'll be because the.
- 1:51:32Speaker 3: O'Connell's a really good coach too, you know. Yeah, I
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: know he's coaching on the other team. I know, but
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: I'm talking, I'm talking. I'm taking the Giants. Okay. I'm
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: a little surprised by that, are you?
- 1:51:42Speaker 17: Why that?
- 1:51:43Speaker 2: No?
- 1:51:43Speaker 3: That all five of us?
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: Like I think the Giants legitimately are one of the
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: three worst teams in football.
- 1:51:48Speaker 17: Awful, and their home dog.
- 1:51:50Speaker 10: In this match, Jones, you can't rule that out.
- 1:51:54Speaker 17: Do you hear about that? Malik knabbers guy pretty good?
- 1:51:58Speaker 7: David was exactly like I was. He's like that kid
- 1:52:00Speaker 7: can play right.
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: Now, we're gonna skip over the Patriots at one o'clock
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: and we're gonna move over to four o'clock. Concerted the
- 1:52:08Speaker 2: CBS four or five. The Raiders are at the Chargers.
- 1:52:13Speaker 3: Who charges by three? Interesting the first of many interesting
- 1:52:19Speaker 3: scintillating AFC West matchups.
- 1:52:20Speaker 6: Sean Harbaugh run the ball against the guys who can't
- 1:52:24Speaker 6: take any criticism in Vegas. I'm gonna take the Joges
- 1:52:28Speaker 6: at home. What did you say?
- 1:52:29Speaker 7: It was two and a half three.
- 1:52:30Speaker 6: I'll take the Charges all lay the points.
- 1:52:33Speaker 9: I'm with the Chargers too. I think the Raiders are
- 1:52:35Speaker 9: gonna be the team I really irrationally hate all year.
- 1:52:39Speaker 6: Yeah, they just aren't like Cis.
- 1:52:41Speaker 22: I'm gonna take the Chargers because they have the better quarterback.
- 1:52:44Speaker 22: But I'm not all in on Jim Harbaugh's it's return
- 1:52:46Speaker 22: to the NFL yet. I feel like starn't tight enough
- 1:52:49Speaker 22: for you getting a little too excited about this.
- 1:52:52Speaker 17: They still have holes in the roster, like we'll see.
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: I agree, they have holes in the roster. I am
- 1:52:56Speaker 3: all in on Jim Harbaugh in the NFL. I think
- 1:52:58Speaker 3: the Lack will win this game. A little worried about
- 1:53:02Speaker 3: Herbert's foot in his rust, not really having done much
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: this summer, but I'll take the Lack.
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: I will take the Lac as well. Four oh five
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: on CBS, the Broncos are at the Seahawks.
- 1:53:14Speaker 3: Seahawks by six.
- 1:53:18Speaker 6: I think that's that's an easy one for me. I
- 1:53:20Speaker 6: think I'm gonna take Seattle. Bonnicks in Seattle, first start
- 1:53:23Speaker 6: of his career, tough place to play, loud, Seattle's got
- 1:53:27Speaker 6: some pieces. I'll take Seattle's crowd and I will I
- 1:53:29Speaker 6: will lay those I will lay those points. I think
- 1:53:31Speaker 6: it will be a significant beat down.
- 1:53:33Speaker 3: Okay, thank you very much, Alexandra.
- 1:53:36Speaker 10: I will wow my in trouble.
- 1:53:39Speaker 9: I'll take Seattle, Michael, I'll give them points too.
- 1:53:45Speaker 22: I'm gonna take Seattle. But that's a big spread for
- 1:53:47Speaker 22: week one, so I'm gonna I'm gonna take the Broncos
- 1:53:50Speaker 22: to cover. But I like I like what Seattle's cooking.
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm paving a lot of good things out of Seattle.
- 1:53:56Speaker 3: I'm not really sure I believe it, but I'm gonna
- 1:53:59Speaker 3: take the Chi in week one, and I'm gonna do
- 1:54:01Speaker 3: the the Deuce and Alex thing and lay the points.
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: I will take the Hawks, but I will take those
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: points because, uh, Broncos, I think are gonna be a
- 1:54:11Speaker 2: little better than people think.
- 1:54:12Speaker 3: Little feisty, Yeah yeah, little feisty yeah.
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: Four on Fox, the Cowboys are at.
- 1:54:19Speaker 3: The Browns, otherwise known as the game that Tom Brady
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: making his debut, Browns by two and a half. Mike,
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: we might have to get some audio up on red
- 1:54:28Speaker 3: zone this.
- 1:54:28Speaker 6: Oh yeah, there you go, you're gonna have I don't
- 1:54:31Speaker 6: need to hear that. Uh so the Browns are favorite?
- 1:54:34Speaker 6: Huh that's just Browns by two and a half. Line
- 1:54:36Speaker 6: moved over to them base.
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: It's a little bit in this surprising.
- 1:54:40Speaker 6: I will take I will take Dallas please, and I
- 1:54:42Speaker 6: will you get to point those points? What does it
- 1:54:45Speaker 6: mean a toss?
- 1:54:46Speaker 5: You're taking Dallas, right?
- 1:54:48Speaker 6: Dallas?
- 1:54:49Speaker 17: Upset Dallas, Dallas.
- 1:54:51Speaker 22: This is a silly line. Deshaun Watson hasn't been good
- 1:54:55Speaker 22: since like twenty nineteen.
- 1:54:56Speaker 5: Yeah, he's well, I'm gonna save my thoughts.
- 1:54:59Speaker 3: I will take leave and I feel like they're the
- 1:55:00Speaker 3: better team.
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: I'll hedge my bet here. I'll take the Browns, but
- 1:55:04Speaker 2: I'll take the points.
- 1:55:07Speaker 3: Yeah. I love it when the Cowboys lose.
- 1:55:10Speaker 2: The Commanders. This four to twenty five game are at
- 1:55:14Speaker 2: the Buccaneers.
- 1:55:17Speaker 5: Tampa by three and a half. Jade and Daniels.
- 1:55:21Speaker 6: Yeah, Jade Daniels, Premiere Gardner or sorry Gardner Minshew jeez.
- 1:55:25Speaker 6: I was called freaking Baker Mayfield. Baker Mayfield settled in there.
- 1:55:30Speaker 6: I'm gonna take Tampa at home. I will lay the points.
- 1:55:34Speaker 10: I will take Tampa really rooting for them in Baker.
- 1:55:37Speaker 10: I'll give them the points as.
- 1:55:38Speaker 22: Well, taking Tampa bowloth the ways Baker bakes and let
- 1:55:42Speaker 22: Baker bake they roll yep game.
- 1:55:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's uh. They'll be hard pressed to
- 1:55:49Speaker 3: go down to Tampa. Daniel's first game, bad offensive line hot, Yeah.
- 1:55:54Speaker 10: They just fired their VP of contact.
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: Content could win a game after Tampa topa.
- 1:56:03Speaker 7: I know who who would hip me.
- 1:56:05Speaker 3: Too, because that's my only protection.
- 1:56:07Speaker 10: If he goes, we all go.
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: Well, you guys will be all right.
- 1:56:12Speaker 2: I will go with the Buccaneers as well. Let Baker bake.
- 1:56:15Speaker 2: The league is better with him in it. Make me
- 1:56:23Speaker 2: last Sunday Night on NBCRE and Universo the Rams are
- 1:56:29Speaker 2: at the Lions.
- 1:56:30Speaker 3: Another really good game. The Lions three and a half
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: over the Lar.
- 1:56:36Speaker 6: It's the same number. Ah, I know there's so much
- 1:56:39Speaker 6: Detroit hype right now there super Bowl pick. I'm tempted
- 1:56:42Speaker 6: to say they are smelling their own parts a little
- 1:56:45Speaker 6: bit and you know, gonna not come out precision, But
- 1:56:49Speaker 6: I can't do it. I'm gonna go Detroit at home.
- 1:56:50Speaker 6: I'll lay the points. Actually, you know what three and
- 1:56:52Speaker 6: a half. Sorry, Paul, you haven't written. I'm gonna take
- 1:56:54Speaker 6: the hook for the Rams.
- 1:56:56Speaker 3: Place the hook.
- 1:56:56Speaker 10: I'm gonna do the same thing.
- 1:56:59Speaker 6: I'm taking the Rams wrong.
- 1:57:02Speaker 22: Matthew Stafford big game type pants, big game type pants
- 1:57:07Speaker 22: versus type pants in this one on the other sideline.
- 1:57:11Speaker 17: But I like the Rams in this one.
- 1:57:13Speaker 22: Is like, you know, the Lions will be fine long term,
- 1:57:15Speaker 22: but I like the Rams for the upset.
- 1:57:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I really, I was really thinking about taking the upset.
- 1:57:21Speaker 3: I'm going to take Detroit, but I'll take the Lar
- 1:57:24Speaker 3: with the points. I definitely think that the Rams can
- 1:57:26Speaker 3: win this game out right. Though that playoff game was
- 1:57:29Speaker 3: there was nothing to decide the two teams. They were
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: very even. The Detroit ended up holding on these are
- 1:57:34Speaker 3: two good teams that I expected both watching. I expect
- 1:57:38Speaker 3: both of them to be in the playoffs again.
- 1:57:40Speaker 6: Perfect, we'll be done with our game. I mean you
- 1:57:42Speaker 6: might be.
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: You know. I'm going to take the Lions both ways
- 1:57:45Speaker 2: in this game. Okay, we moved to Monday night eight fifteen.
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: I need you to take your notepads out. This game
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: is on ESPN ABC, ESPN two, ESPN Plus and ESPN.
- 1:58:00Speaker 3: Days and.
- 1:58:03Speaker 2: The Jets with Aaron Rodgers are at the forty niners
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: with Rock Partyniners by four and a half.
- 1:58:14Speaker 6: It's another really good game, fun way to end off
- 1:58:16Speaker 6: Week one. I think probably Aaron Rodgers is gonna get
- 1:58:20Speaker 6: hurt again. I'll take San Francisco. I love that great game,
- 1:58:24Speaker 6: but I think.
- 1:58:25Speaker 17: Could you imagine I would love it?
- 1:58:29Speaker 3: You would love it.
- 1:58:29Speaker 22: He's the only guy that I just can't stand. It's
- 1:58:32Speaker 22: just him.
- 1:58:33Speaker 10: Yeah, that's a little harsh.
- 1:58:36Speaker 9: I'm going to take San Francisco to win, but I'm
- 1:58:39Speaker 9: going to give the Jets the points. I could see
- 1:58:41Speaker 9: them like making it close and then just losing in
- 1:58:43Speaker 9: total Jets fashion at the end of the game or something.
- 1:58:46Speaker 22: I'm tempted to take the Jets because the Niners kind
- 1:58:49Speaker 22: of slap this together in the end, and like seven
- 1:58:51Speaker 22: of their players haven't practiced all summer, and it's just
- 1:58:54Speaker 22: kind of this craziness. But I just think the forty
- 1:58:56Speaker 22: Niners are better, So take them. Take the forty nine
- 1:58:59Speaker 22: ers both ways, and I'm not buying anything about.
- 1:59:03Speaker 6: The Jets this season, thank you.
- 1:59:04Speaker 3: Yeah. I will take the Niners to win, simply because
- 1:59:07Speaker 3: they're at home, but I will take the points, too
- 1:59:09Speaker 3: many points. I think the Jets are loaded. I think
- 1:59:12Speaker 3: you're people just rooting for an injury.
- 1:59:14Speaker 2: Seriously, there's no doubt if the Jets stay healthy in
- 1:59:19Speaker 2: a couple of key areas, just the quarterback.
- 1:59:21Speaker 17: They're they're they will Jet.
- 1:59:23Speaker 3: They're loaded to win. But it's the Jets. Something bad
- 1:59:27Speaker 3: will happen, something will happen in this game. I just
- 1:59:30Speaker 3: need one person to give me something like football base.
- 1:59:33Speaker 10: But that's all you need.
- 1:59:34Speaker 3: Something bad happens every years. All you need. I need
- 1:59:38Speaker 3: something other than bad juju and the quarterbacks is gonna get.
- 1:59:41Speaker 22: I have no idea if the coach can tell anybody.
- 1:59:44Speaker 22: I have no idea if the coach can coach. I
- 1:59:45Speaker 22: don't think he needs to in like a real game,
- 1:59:47Speaker 22: like I I I'm sure he can coach.
- 1:59:49Speaker 2: The coach is Aaron Rodgers.
- 1:59:50Speaker 22: No, the coach is Robert Salad. And I'm not sure
- 1:59:53Speaker 22: that when the rubber hits the road, if he actually
- 1:59:55Speaker 22: is a good coach, because you've never seen it.
- 1:59:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna take the forty nine ers out of spite.
- 1:59:59Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, I'm with you. I respect you. I respect
- 2:00:02Speaker 3: that I do. You're telling me why? Yeah, spite.
- 2:00:06Speaker 2: And now we go back to one o'clock on CBS.
- 2:00:09Speaker 2: The Patriots are at the Bengals.
- 2:00:12Speaker 3: Evan, you were looking for big spreads. This is the
- 2:00:15Speaker 3: biggest Bengals by eight and a half. The disrespect, the disrespect,
- 2:00:19Speaker 3: disrespecting us actually opened it actually out of the Patriots.
- 2:00:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:00:25Speaker 6: I would really like to pick the Patriots here. I'd
- 2:00:27Speaker 6: love to see them pull off and I'm ahead, but
- 2:00:29Speaker 6: I'm not going to. I think I think that the
- 2:00:34Speaker 6: you know, I don't think the Bengals are going to
- 2:00:35Speaker 6: roll over them on offense. I think the defense of
- 2:00:37Speaker 6: the Patriots will put up a good fight and you know,
- 2:00:41Speaker 6: hold them to under twenty one points. I went with
- 2:00:44Speaker 6: twenty to ten Bengals. So I'll take Cincinnati and I
- 2:00:47Speaker 6: will lay the points.
- 2:00:49Speaker 17: That's gonna be a fun one.
- 2:00:50Speaker 5: Please, I please don't have a lot of those games
- 2:00:52Speaker 5: for me to watch.
- 2:00:53Speaker 9: Yeah, sorry, Bengals win, Bengals win, Patriots cover, Patriots.
- 2:00:58Speaker 2: There you go halfway, then we're going to cover.
- 2:01:01Speaker 10: What's the spread again?
- 2:01:02Speaker 3: Eight and a half?
- 2:01:03Speaker 10: Eight and a half? Okay, so twenty eight to twenty.
- 2:01:07Speaker 6: Right on the line.
- 2:01:08Speaker 10: There you go, barely cover.
- 2:01:11Speaker 3: It's a very plausible score.
- 2:01:13Speaker 10: Absolutely doing the math in my head.
- 2:01:14Speaker 22: On the spot, I'm going to say the same thing.
- 2:01:17Speaker 22: Patriots lose, but they cover, and the main reason is
- 2:01:21Speaker 22: just that there's some trends that that favor them in
- 2:01:24Speaker 22: this game, some early season Bengals trends, you know, a
- 2:01:27Speaker 22: VP's familiarity.
- 2:01:29Speaker 5: We ignore those.
- 2:01:31Speaker 22: I think this game is a lot like the Eagles
- 2:01:33Speaker 22: opener last year. Covered in that game, where the Patriots hangering,
- 2:01:37Speaker 22: you know, they kind of are competitive. It's not a
- 2:01:40Speaker 22: complete crap show, uh.
- 2:01:43Speaker 10: Where we come in and we're like, wow, we almost
- 2:01:45Speaker 10: beat the Eagles.
- 2:01:46Speaker 17: Yeah, exactly, down, I'll take that as a win. Go
- 2:01:50Speaker 17: ahead twenty three.
- 2:01:53Speaker 2: I like it.
- 2:01:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I think this game.
- 2:01:55Speaker 3: I think the Bengals will have a hard time getting
- 2:01:57Speaker 3: started for obvious reasons. They haven't really played together all summer.
- 2:02:03Speaker 3: But once they get their footing, I think the second
- 2:02:05Speaker 3: half is not all that close. I think they pull
- 2:02:08Speaker 3: away with just too much star power twenty seven to sixteen.
- 2:02:12Speaker 15: Since Cincinnati, the Patriots aren't going to allow the Bengals
- 2:02:16Speaker 15: to get their footing.
- 2:02:17Speaker 2: Defense is going to be on display for this game.
- 2:02:21Speaker 2: Patriots win outright, thirteen to eleven. You don't believe that,
- 2:02:26Speaker 2: I sure do, and I'm conviction. I'm putting it out
- 2:02:30Speaker 2: there in the universe. It's going to manifest itself.
- 2:02:35Speaker 3: I believe in existence.
- 2:02:37Speaker 5: I believe everything.
- 2:02:37Speaker 3: He just said that he believes. Thirteen to eleven.
- 2:02:41Speaker 2: Patriots, mark it down. We'll be back, well, they'll be
- 2:02:45Speaker 2: back on the postgame show on pregame on Sunday. Pregame
- 2:02:49Speaker 2: show starts at postgame show starts immediately after the game,
- 2:02:54Speaker 2: so tune into that. Obviously, tune into the game to
- 2:02:58Speaker 2: see who's right, who's wrong.
- 2:03:00Speaker 6: Catch twenty two coming up, Catch twenty two coming up
- 2:03:02Speaker 6: with Alex Barth.
- 2:03:03Speaker 17: He's in the other room.
- 2:03:04Speaker 2: Now, are you guys going to do picks on that
- 2:03:06Speaker 2: show as well?
- 2:03:07Speaker 22: Or we are going to pick some like preseason, you know,
- 2:03:11Speaker 22: predictions of awards.
- 2:03:12Speaker 2: You have the MVP, but I mean, you're not going
- 2:03:14Speaker 2: to go around the league and do all that.
- 2:03:16Speaker 22: We might do division winners, but not for this opening
- 2:03:19Speaker 22: week now, okay, more like futures.
- 2:03:21Speaker 17: Futures right, let's recall.
- 2:03:23Speaker 2: All right, So I just want to make sure though,
- 2:03:25Speaker 2: if you do pick games, that you're consistent. No picking
- 2:03:29Speaker 2: differently on that show than you did this show.
- 2:03:32Speaker 22: Now, this show is the pick show, but we might
- 2:03:34Speaker 22: do some future bet you know up things like that.
- 2:03:37Speaker 2: All right, great catch twenty two coming up. Thank you
