- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, it's Jeff. I wanted to let you know
- 0:02Speaker 1: that we've recorded this PST special podcast on Tuesday, July thirtieth,
- 0:07Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. By the time you hear this, some
- 0:09Speaker 1: things may have changed here or there, but we hope
- 0:11Speaker 1: you enjoy the show. What's up, everybody, Welcome to this
- 0:39Speaker 1: PSD special podcast. It is great to be in your ears.
- 0:42Speaker 1: We are foregoing our Opposition Territory podcast this week for
- 0:46Speaker 1: this particular show, and we really hope you enjoy everything
- 0:49Speaker 1: that this one has to offer. I'm Jeff Warren, and
- 0:53Speaker 1: I wanted to do this particular PSD special podcast simply
- 0:57Speaker 1: because over the years, over months, I've received correspondence, emails,
- 1:02Speaker 1: direct messages on Twitter about content creation about how do
- 1:06Speaker 1: you go about doing it? How do you go about
- 1:08Speaker 1: starting it? How do you consistently do what you do
- 1:12Speaker 1: in terms of content creation. With the fact that we've
- 1:15Speaker 1: been doing this now for over eleven years, we do
- 1:19Speaker 1: know a little bit about it. And our guest this week,
- 1:21Speaker 1: he knows a little bit about it as well. I
- 1:23Speaker 1: shouldn't say a little bit, he knows a lot about it.
- 1:27Speaker 1: He's one of my favorite individuals to follow on YouTube.
- 1:30Speaker 1: He has fantastic videos. I love his content being a guitarist,
- 1:34Speaker 1: being somebody who creates and writes my own music outside
- 1:38Speaker 1: of the world of this podcast, and I wanted to
- 1:41Speaker 1: bring him on to talk about content creation, what it's like,
- 1:44Speaker 1: the ins and outs of it, how people can get started,
- 1:47Speaker 1: what they should be aware of. And I think we're
- 1:49Speaker 1: gonna have a great discussion. Let's get right to it.
- 1:52Speaker 1: It is such an honor for me to have on
- 1:55Speaker 1: this podcast. I cannot believe I'm actually looking at him
- 1:58Speaker 1: and talking to him right now on Zuome Pull Back
- 2:01Speaker 1: the Curtain. We had a nice conversation before hitting the
- 2:03Speaker 1: record button. But I have been following this gentleman, an
- 2:07Speaker 1: exceptional guitar player. He has fantastic content on YouTube. Again,
- 2:12Speaker 1: even if you're not into metal music or music at all, necessarily,
- 2:15Speaker 1: you should really check out his YouTube channel. Xander Raymond
- 2:19Speaker 1: Charles Xander, Buddy, how are you? And thank you so
- 2:22Speaker 1: much for taking the time to jump on the PSC
- 2:24Speaker 1: podcast show here.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Thank you so much, sirh To answer your question, I'm doing.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Pre Please don't call me sir dear lord, It's Jeff.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Anyway, It's good to see you, Bro. I'm doing good man.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I appreciate you seriously for having me on as a guest,
- 2:44Speaker 2: and I'm really really looking forward to spending some time
- 2:46Speaker 2: with you today and just hanging out. Man.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Well, I appreciate you taking the time and folks, just
- 2:51Speaker 1: to let you all know out there, just wanted to
- 2:53Speaker 1: quick tell you the story of how Xander has gotten
- 2:57Speaker 1: to the point where he is on this podcast. We're
- 2:59Speaker 1: gonna be talking about content creation in just a bit here.
- 3:02Speaker 1: But as many of you know, you know I play guitar.
- 3:05Speaker 1: You know, I write and record my own music and
- 3:07Speaker 1: been doing it for a very very long time. Not
- 3:10Speaker 1: a professional by any stretch of the imagination, but it's
- 3:13Speaker 1: something that I enjoy. So I follow some YouTube quote influencers,
- 3:18Speaker 1: if you would like to use that word, but I
- 3:21Speaker 1: subscribe to a decent amount of YouTube channels and specifically
- 3:25Speaker 1: guitar based, metal based, gear based, and all of a sudden,
- 3:30Speaker 1: Xander pops up into my recommendations one day after I
- 3:34Speaker 1: had seen a well, the actual video was the interview
- 3:40Speaker 1: that e Xander had did with Ryan Bruce, who was
- 3:43Speaker 1: in a band that I loved, Dragged Under, and I
- 3:46Speaker 1: had been following Ryan for some time. You popped up
- 3:48Speaker 1: into my recommendations and I was like, oh my gosh,
- 3:51Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm like, this guy's great. I absolutely love
- 3:54Speaker 1: the content and I'm gonna get to why in just
- 3:57Speaker 1: a little bit here. But I guess to give some
- 3:59Speaker 1: back as to who you are, how you came to be,
- 4:03Speaker 1: you know, in this digital space, Zander. You know, what
- 4:07Speaker 1: was what was your light switch moment for you, that
- 4:09Speaker 1: quote light switch moment where you said to yourself, you
- 4:12Speaker 1: know what, I'm good at this thing called guitar playing.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I know about music, I know about gear, and now
- 4:19Speaker 1: I want to share this with the world. What was
- 4:22Speaker 1: that moment for you? And how did you go about,
- 4:24Speaker 1: you know, starting that online content journey.
- 4:27Speaker 2: So my story is is quite an interesting one in
- 4:30Speaker 2: the sense that I had dabbled with guitar very honestly,
- 4:35Speaker 2: not that much, quite infrequently, growing up at like ages eleven, twelve,
- 4:39Speaker 2: thirteen ish. That's when I started playing eleven, and I
- 4:42Speaker 2: was really into it for a brief moment. But when
- 4:44Speaker 2: you're a kid, you have ten million interests, you don't
- 4:46Speaker 2: really know what you want to do, yes, but guitar
- 4:49Speaker 2: was one of those things. Anyway, fast forward several years,
- 4:54Speaker 2: I was in the military. I was in the Army
- 4:55Speaker 2: for a bit and in the process of getting out,
- 5:00Speaker 2: I had thirty days off from work because I was
- 5:03Speaker 2: going through one of several surgeries. I had a shoulder
- 5:06Speaker 2: surgery at the time, due to you know, just doing
- 5:10Speaker 2: my job at the time. Anyway, in that moment of
- 5:13Speaker 2: having time off, I was born at home under the
- 5:18Speaker 2: influence of some medication to recover, and I was like,
- 5:24Speaker 2: I was watching YouTube videos to pass the time, and
- 5:29Speaker 2: I was watching individuals such as Ryan Bruce, Ola England,
- 5:35Speaker 2: Glenn from Spectro Sound Studios, the OG's, the mount Rushmoores
- 5:39Speaker 2: of of the YouTube Guitar gig And for whatever reason,
- 5:45Speaker 2: I was like, you know what, I'm going to start
- 5:47Speaker 2: my own YouTube channel because I have a month off
- 5:49Speaker 2: to do nothing. I'm not I'm literally not allowed to
- 5:52Speaker 2: work by by contract, by law, I guess. And so
- 5:56Speaker 2: I wanted to start YouTube as a way to get
- 6:00Speaker 2: better at guitar because it'll hold myself accountable, like I
- 6:04Speaker 2: can record myself and then put it up on the
- 6:06Speaker 2: Internet and then more or less kind of track my progress.
- 6:08Speaker 2: But also to to get out a lot of cover
- 6:11Speaker 2: songs that were in my head right because I was
- 6:13Speaker 2: tired of like having laid to Rest by Lamb of
- 6:16Speaker 2: God stuck in my head, like having to having to
- 6:19Speaker 2: have that memory, like the mental bandwidth to memorize how
- 6:24Speaker 2: that song like I want, I wanted to just play it,
- 6:27Speaker 2: put it up on YouTube, and then that's like my
- 6:29Speaker 2: own reference point of like, okay, I did that one.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I can't believe you actually mentioned that song. I was
- 6:33Speaker 1: actually listening to it taking my daughter to your gymnastics
- 6:35Speaker 1: training earlier today. Oh, no, way, that's awesome.
- 6:38Speaker 2: That's a heck of a pump up song for gymnastics.
- 6:42Speaker 2: That's cool. Yeah, that was That was like the first
- 6:44Speaker 2: song I covered it that way back when. But it
- 6:47Speaker 2: wasn't the light Switch. It's a long winded answer, but
- 6:50Speaker 2: it's like a very detailed all good, all good. It
- 6:53Speaker 2: wasn't just like, oh I wanted to do it. The
- 6:56Speaker 2: light Switch was kind of just like when I realized
- 6:58Speaker 2: that the people that I was looking up to and
- 7:01Speaker 2: still look up to this day, the gentleman that I mentioned.
- 7:04Speaker 2: It wasn't until that, like I realized that there was
- 7:07Speaker 2: like a connection with the audience and the ability to
- 7:12Speaker 2: reach a broad audience, because again, my YouTube like scope
- 7:18Speaker 2: was just for myself. Right, But then once I realized
- 7:20Speaker 2: that you could reach an audience.
- 7:22Speaker 1: And make that connection, make that connection. That word connection
- 7:25Speaker 1: is so important.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah, make that connection and and have that audience there
- 7:30Speaker 2: to tune in to see what you're doing. It's somewhat it.
- 7:34Speaker 2: It was like somewhat addictive and incredibly curious as to
- 7:37Speaker 2: see how far can I go? How far can I
- 7:39Speaker 2: push this?
- 7:39Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 7:40Speaker 2: And to this day, now seven years removed from that
- 7:44Speaker 2: initial catalyst, we're still doing it, and that feeling is
- 7:47Speaker 2: still very much prominent. It certainly shifted and molded in
- 7:50Speaker 2: different ways along the way, and I've got it dialed
- 7:53Speaker 2: in pretty good now going forward. But like that initial
- 7:56Speaker 2: like curiosity of how far, how caught out it is?
- 7:59Speaker 2: How successful can I be? How big of a reach
- 8:02Speaker 2: can I pull? How far can I take this? Once
- 8:07Speaker 2: what was once a hobby now a career.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Right. I love that you talk about that connection and
- 8:12Speaker 1: that reach, and I love the way that you do
- 8:14Speaker 1: it because you're not negative. You're not negative. You don't
- 8:20Speaker 1: cater to the negativity that will at times drive numbers,
- 8:24Speaker 1: that will at times drive downloads or whatever the case is.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I mean, we have that same mentality here at the
- 8:31Speaker 1: Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show. My co hosts and I
- 8:34Speaker 1: you know, when we get on, when they get on
- 8:37Speaker 1: this show with me once a week. You know, we've
- 8:39Speaker 1: made it a standard staple within the course of our
- 8:43Speaker 1: platform over the eleven years that we've been doing this.
- 8:45Speaker 1: You know what, We're not going to be Philly sports
- 8:47Speaker 1: talk radio. We want to dive into issues with teams
- 8:51Speaker 1: and players and do it in a thoughtful manner where
- 8:55Speaker 1: it's just not negative all the time. Of course, we
- 8:57Speaker 1: can be negative about the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers six, and
- 9:00Speaker 1: Union as much as we want, and sometimes we are,
- 9:03Speaker 1: but it's not all about that. And I guess that
- 9:05Speaker 1: leads me to the next topic. Here's Andander, which is
- 9:08Speaker 1: you know I mentioned earlier. You know, I saw you
- 9:11Speaker 1: and Ryan Bruce, two really great guitarists, great YouTube channels,
- 9:16Speaker 1: and the one thing that I absolutely loved about that
- 9:19Speaker 1: interview in your subsequent YouTube videos was your high level
- 9:24Speaker 1: of authenticity. You weren't scripted at all. I don't believe
- 9:29Speaker 1: you have ever been through any sort of public speaking
- 9:32Speaker 1: type of courses or classes or anything like that, and
- 9:36Speaker 1: it was actually very refreshing. You were talking from your heart,
- 9:40Speaker 1: you were talking from your brain about what you were
- 9:43Speaker 1: passionate about actually, which is guitars, gear, making music. But
- 9:47Speaker 1: you were doing it in a way where I felt
- 9:50Speaker 1: like we were hanging out with each other, you know.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Watching your videos was a really good hang. I'd be
- 9:54Speaker 1: in my kitchen doing the dishes, getting dinner ready for
- 9:57Speaker 1: my family, and I'm looking over at this it's just
- 10:00Speaker 1: you're It was a good hang, you being on my
- 10:03Speaker 1: living room TV. So I think when people hear that
- 10:07Speaker 1: word authenticity, because it's used a lot in the digital
- 10:11Speaker 1: online marketing realm, that's what they're wanting to hear. That's
- 10:15Speaker 1: what they want to feel when it comes to online
- 10:18Speaker 1: content authenticity. So what are your thoughts on this? You
- 10:21Speaker 1: know and can't How can people really tune into that
- 10:24Speaker 1: authenticity if they want to create online content for viewers, listeners,
- 10:28Speaker 1: or whoever? What are your thoughts here?
- 10:30Speaker 2: Yeah, So, first off, thank you for all the kind words.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Sure being real dude, Yeah, yeah, no.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I appreciate that, man. So yeah, like the first thing
- 10:39Speaker 2: you said was like staying positive and not you know,
- 10:42Speaker 2: being negative for views or for for traction. Yeah, I
- 10:47Speaker 2: find that behavior incredibly cringey and like just like incredibly
- 10:54Speaker 2: insecure and like the need to talk about somebody more successful,
- 10:59Speaker 2: to like to like leach off of what somebody else
- 11:02Speaker 2: is doing, to like be negative about it. I find
- 11:04Speaker 2: that I find that fascinating and disappointing and something that
- 11:08Speaker 2: I cannot relate to. You know, I I look a
- 11:14Speaker 2: certain type of way. I look rather unique, and for
- 11:18Speaker 2: a lot of for whatever reason, a lot of people
- 11:19Speaker 2: don't like that, or a lot of people are curious
- 11:21Speaker 2: or scared or confused, and they will let me know
- 11:24Speaker 2: in the in the comment section, in the very way,
- 11:28Speaker 2: and I could easily just fire back and like become
- 11:31Speaker 2: like arguing with people I don't even know without a
- 11:34Speaker 2: profile picture on the Internet. But like, that's just not
- 11:37Speaker 2: who I am, and that's not somebody I want to
- 11:39Speaker 2: be known for, you know, I'm I'm in this whole
- 11:43Speaker 2: content creation game, this whole musical profession long term, so
- 11:49Speaker 2: or like twenty years from the road, twenty years down
- 11:52Speaker 2: the road from now. I don't want to be known
- 11:54Speaker 2: as somebody talking crap on the internet about people that
- 11:57Speaker 2: are more successful than I am. I want to be
- 11:59Speaker 2: known for having authenticity, a genuine outlook, staying true to
- 12:04Speaker 2: myself and being positive. So It's always like, in the
- 12:07Speaker 2: back of my mind, what's my body of work going
- 12:09Speaker 2: to be whenever I stop doing this or whenever, you know,
- 12:12Speaker 2: it's my last day on the planet. What am I
- 12:15Speaker 2: going to be known for? And think of it long
- 12:19Speaker 2: term and not just be so focused on like, oh
- 12:20Speaker 2: I could I could blow up right now if I'm
- 12:22Speaker 2: talking negatively about somebody. There's a lot of people that
- 12:26Speaker 2: do that. Unfortunately.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Yeah, we think about that as well at this podcast show.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I'm sorry to interrupt you, but we think about that
- 12:31Speaker 1: as well. Just the fact that you can go down
- 12:34Speaker 1: certain roads, but we decide not to because we enjoy
- 12:36Speaker 1: the content that we're making, We enjoyed the discussions overall
- 12:40Speaker 1: that we're having. There is no need for us to
- 12:42Speaker 1: alter our personalities, alter what we enjoy, the passion that
- 12:47Speaker 1: we have in order to just get more numbers at
- 12:50Speaker 1: the end of the day. And yes, numbers do translate
- 12:52Speaker 1: to money. And you know, I have said a number
- 12:56Speaker 1: of times on this podcast there's some passive income that
- 12:59Speaker 1: we get from me at this but at the end
- 13:00Speaker 1: of the day, that's not what it's about. Being a
- 13:02Speaker 1: passionate Philadelphia sports fan. You're passionate about music, you're passionate
- 13:06Speaker 1: about gear, guitars and performing in front of folks, So
- 13:10Speaker 1: that's at the end of the day, being genuine like
- 13:12Speaker 1: you said, that's important.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Yeah, and you can lump guitar gear and whatever you said,
- 13:17Speaker 2: as well.
- 13:18Speaker 1: As sports, yes, as well as Philly sports. I know
- 13:21Speaker 1: you're a huge Eagles fan, and we're gonna get to
- 13:22Speaker 1: some Eagles talking at some point here during this discussion.
- 13:26Speaker 1: But folks, just to let you know, Xander, check out
- 13:29Speaker 1: Xander Raymond Charles on YouTube. I subscribe. I've been a
- 13:33Speaker 1: subscriber for some time now. It's fantastic content. If you're
- 13:36Speaker 1: into guitars, music, gear, checking out what touring is all about.
- 13:42Speaker 1: It's a fantastic channel. And where can folks find you
- 13:45Speaker 1: on the interwebs out there as well aside from YouTube, Xander.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Yeah, so as well as Instagram, TikTok, all streaming service platforms.
- 13:54Speaker 2: So whenever I'm not doing YouTube content creation because YouTube
- 13:58Speaker 2: is like my day, my day job, yeah, my bread
- 14:00Speaker 2: and butter, as well as creating my own original music,
- 14:06Speaker 2: that's all in all major streaming services. And if you're
- 14:11Speaker 2: this fall, when does this come out?
- 14:12Speaker 1: This interview like today, which is gonna be July thirty,
- 14:16Speaker 1: twenty four.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Okay, So this fall, I'm touring with an act by
- 14:20Speaker 2: the name of A Live Elijah Man yep, so I'll
- 14:24Speaker 2: be there's there's dates all over the country. You can
- 14:26Speaker 2: check me out live there. And in the wintertime, I'll
- 14:29Speaker 2: be touring with an artist by the name of Tommy
- 14:31Speaker 2: Vexed Yes, and they'll be there'll be some dates all
- 14:35Speaker 2: over the United God.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I better see you guys on I better see you
- 14:38Speaker 1: on stage. Body, I better because I got to tell
- 14:40Speaker 1: you there there's a song that you recently did with
- 14:43Speaker 1: I Believe We Are Pigs. How do you say it?
- 14:45Speaker 1: Is it? Swear swear?
- 14:47Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 14:48Speaker 1: Okay, because I've been I've been listening to that really
- 14:50Speaker 1: enjoying that as well on Apple Apple Music, that's what
- 14:54Speaker 1: I have. I know you're on Spotify as well. Out there, folks,
- 14:58Speaker 1: give Xander Raymond Charles a follow out there. He is
- 15:03Speaker 1: a great, great follow again, authentic content that you're gonna get.
- 15:06Speaker 1: And as we're moving along with the discussion, here's andre.
- 15:08Speaker 1: You know, we all have our favorite kinds of topics
- 15:10Speaker 1: to dive into. And I have to be honest, you know,
- 15:12Speaker 1: during the pandemic, we needed to take a break from
- 15:15Speaker 1: the break in sports. Our longtime listeners remember that there
- 15:20Speaker 1: was nothing going on sports wise, and it was becoming
- 15:22Speaker 1: more like quote work for us to kind of come
- 15:25Speaker 1: up with content and topics, to be honest with you,
- 15:28Speaker 1: So we dove into some movie reviews. We actually talked
- 15:30Speaker 1: about music as well, because we didn't want it to
- 15:33Speaker 1: be about work. We didn't want it to be about okay,
- 15:35Speaker 1: just putting something up, putting something out there. Those were
- 15:39Speaker 1: some awesome podcasts that we did with my co host
- 15:41Speaker 1: and some of the other guests that we had. I'm wondering,
- 15:44Speaker 1: what's been your favorite kind of videos to make over
- 15:47Speaker 1: the years. That's not kind of like work in a way,
- 15:49Speaker 1: you know, but what are those favorite kind of videos
- 15:51Speaker 1: that you've been able to do over the years and why.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Yes, that's a great question. It's I almost struggle to
- 15:59Speaker 2: like think what which ones are my favorite? It's such
- 16:02Speaker 2: a cliche because I truly enjoy like I'm addicted. I've
- 16:06Speaker 2: become pretty self aware of like why I enjoy it.
- 16:08Speaker 2: I'm addicted to like the reaction of like when I
- 16:11Speaker 2: put something out like an adrenaline say yeah, yeah, this
- 16:16Speaker 2: could tank, this could piss people off this career of
- 16:19Speaker 2: people happy, what's gonna happen? So I kind of enjoy
- 16:22Speaker 2: all of them. But the ones that I really enjoy
- 16:25Speaker 2: the most as of late are taking taking my audience
- 16:29Speaker 2: out and doing like tour blogs and traveling. I really
- 16:32Speaker 2: enjoy those, like behind the scenes stuff when you were
- 16:35Speaker 2: with Elijah.
- 16:36Speaker 1: When you were with Elijah and I believe you were
- 16:39Speaker 1: in the Midwest, the vlog that you had where like
- 16:41Speaker 1: the tornado was coming through, I was like, holy freaking crap.
- 16:45Speaker 1: I mean you documented that really well. It was an
- 16:47Speaker 1: interesting watch for sure.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Oh thanks man. Yeah, yeah, we were in a Madison,
- 16:50Speaker 2: Wisconsin concert had to shut down because of a tornado,
- 16:54Speaker 2: was like a block away or something like that. Oh
- 16:57Speaker 2: my god. Yeah. I really enjoy those, man. And you know,
- 17:01Speaker 2: I think I'll stick with that answer for right now.
- 17:03Speaker 2: I really enjoy those because I'm in a position out
- 17:05Speaker 2: to where I'm finally doing the thing that I always
- 17:09Speaker 2: envisioned when I was a little kid. Circling back to
- 17:11Speaker 2: like when I first started playing, I always had like
- 17:14Speaker 2: the the dream of being a you know, pretend rock
- 17:17Speaker 2: star that whatever that means to an eleven year old,
- 17:20Speaker 2: you don't know what that means. But like you know,
- 17:23Speaker 2: watching like the Jimmy Hendricks movie, people might know what
- 17:26Speaker 2: that means.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I know what it means. I started playing when I
- 17:28Speaker 1: was ten. That's when I started playing when I was ten,
- 17:31Speaker 1: and I had eight years of lessons from that time
- 17:33Speaker 1: until I graduated from high school. So it was like
- 17:37Speaker 1: tons of music theory and guitar star freaking scales outside
- 17:40Speaker 1: the wazoo anyway. So I don't know about other listeners
- 17:43Speaker 1: but myself, Oh, yeah, I know what it's.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Like, buddy, Okay, Yeah, so you can relate many Yeah,
- 17:47Speaker 2: like I'm in a position out to where I'm finally
- 17:49Speaker 2: doing the thing that I've always thought I could or
- 17:52Speaker 2: not even what I thought I could do, but like
- 17:53Speaker 2: what I hope to aspire to do. Yeah, And that's
- 17:56Speaker 2: just traveling and being hired for position to tour with
- 18:01Speaker 2: bands and see the country and here sooner rather or later,
- 18:05Speaker 2: see international parts of the world in play as well,
- 18:08Speaker 2: So all that encompassing. Man, Like, those videos really mean
- 18:13Speaker 2: a lot to me because it's a way to document
- 18:17Speaker 2: some of the things that I'm most proud of currently
- 18:19Speaker 2: right now.
- 18:19Speaker 1: All right, very good and again, folks, when you watch
- 18:22Speaker 1: Xander on his YouTube channel, and he's putting up his
- 18:26Speaker 1: YouTube shorts in particular. I love the niche. I love
- 18:30Speaker 1: the niche of you at having your shirt off, you
- 18:32Speaker 1: got your tats exposed, and you're chewing bubble gum. You're
- 18:36Speaker 1: chewing bubble gum, just just completely killing it with a riff,
- 18:42Speaker 1: like seriously, a thirty second riff that he is doing
- 18:45Speaker 1: that absolutely murders and chewing the bubble gum. It is
- 18:49Speaker 1: a niche that is fantastic.
- 18:50Speaker 2: I love what It's funny how like all those things
- 18:55Speaker 2: people get again talking about the negative and the.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Traction, Like, who's negative about this?
- 19:01Speaker 2: Dude? It's fat, dude. They should study the people in
- 19:03Speaker 2: my comments section. It's fast.
- 19:05Speaker 1: I don't look at the comments in your comments section.
- 19:07Speaker 1: So I didn't know that that people would be negative
- 19:09Speaker 1: about the bubble gum.
- 19:10Speaker 2: My gosh, it's the bubble gum, it's the tattoos. It's
- 19:15Speaker 2: because I'm in shape, It's because I'm having a good time,
- 19:18Speaker 2: and like, I'm just being me and I'm not like
- 19:21Speaker 2: it sounds a little bit arrogant and you know, abrasive,
- 19:24Speaker 2: but like I'm literally just like I'm literally just being
- 19:27Speaker 2: unapologetically me without any sort of without anything other than
- 19:31Speaker 2: just existing. Yeah, and the way it confuses angers and
- 19:35Speaker 2: frustrates people is so fascinating to me. But you know,
- 19:38Speaker 2: I always like think to myself, if you only knew, like, dude,
- 19:41Speaker 2: I'm just like a reserved kid from Pennsylvania, right, I'm
- 19:45Speaker 2: not out to get you exactly.
- 19:48Speaker 1: You're a reserve kid from like suburbanish Philadelphia area and
- 19:52Speaker 1: you had lived in the city for a little while
- 19:55Speaker 1: just doing your thing, you know. And again, authenticity, folks,
- 19:59Speaker 1: it is really really important if you're wanting to dive
- 20:01Speaker 1: into content creations. So all right, before we get into
- 20:05Speaker 1: some Eagles talk here, because I definitely want to get
- 20:07Speaker 1: your thoughts with regard to training camp, what's gonna be
- 20:09Speaker 1: happening this upcoming season, because we got to get into
- 20:11Speaker 1: some Philly sports here. Having you on. Look, I've talked
- 20:14Speaker 1: to some other bloggers over the years, you know, other
- 20:16Speaker 1: podcast hosts, video creators, just about the grind of creating content.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I mean, it's not all lollipops and rainbows all the time.
- 20:23Speaker 1: But the one thing I can say about myself is that, again,
- 20:26Speaker 1: I'm passionate about our Philly sports teams and what we
- 20:31Speaker 1: talk about on this podcast. That's why I continue to
- 20:33Speaker 1: upload and generate shows for this podcast platform. Doing it
- 20:36Speaker 1: for eleven years, I still haven't lost that passion, even
- 20:39Speaker 1: though sometimes it can be a grind to get the
- 20:41Speaker 1: content out, like we need to do every now and again.
- 20:45Speaker 1: How do you keep that balance, Xander, of staying passionate
- 20:49Speaker 1: about the videos you're creating, coming up with new ideas,
- 20:52Speaker 1: and just kind of the overall grind of it. How
- 20:54Speaker 1: do you keep that level head with all of this.
- 20:58Speaker 2: It's a good question, man. It's kind of again going
- 21:02Speaker 2: back to what I said a couple of minutes ago,
- 21:04Speaker 2: like I'm so interested in seeing how far I can
- 21:08Speaker 2: go with this. For a while there, I wasn't sure
- 21:11Speaker 2: if this was gonna be like, you know, my my job,
- 21:14Speaker 2: my profession, what I wanted to do. I didn't know
- 21:16Speaker 2: if this would be a hobby and then I would
- 21:17Speaker 2: do something else. I'm so all in on this right
- 21:20Speaker 2: now that it's like not even funny. So what drives
- 21:24Speaker 2: me and motivates me is like I literally have worked
- 21:27Speaker 2: my tail off to obtain my dream job. Nothing was
- 21:31Speaker 2: handed to me. Now that I have it, it's like
- 21:35Speaker 2: I almost owe it to my younger self to just
- 21:38Speaker 2: push and just go for it, and if I have
- 21:41Speaker 2: any day, like I really don't ever take a day
- 21:43Speaker 2: off ever, which I struggle with, but on days where
- 21:46Speaker 2: I feel lackluster, like I've had a couple in the
- 21:49Speaker 2: last couple of days. I just got off a tour
- 21:51Speaker 2: and I like just finished packing all my clothes and stuff.
- 21:54Speaker 2: So I've been a little like tired, I guess you
- 21:57Speaker 2: could call it. But like, I have these moments where I, like,
- 22:00Speaker 2: I find myself feeling lazy and lethargic, and then something
- 22:03Speaker 2: will click in my head. It's like, dude, you've worked
- 22:06Speaker 2: so hard to get where you're at, But how fortunate
- 22:08Speaker 2: argue that you get to do what you love? Yeah,
- 22:10Speaker 2: how dare you? How dare you not show up for
- 22:14Speaker 2: yourself and not work today because you're lazy? Like, dude,
- 22:18Speaker 2: just do something. So that drive, that motivation is something
- 22:21Speaker 2: that unfortunately can't be taught. You just have to have it. Yeah,
- 22:25Speaker 2: And I'm very thankful that that's instilled in me somehow,
- 22:28Speaker 2: some way. I think I get it from my mother.
- 22:30Speaker 2: But I'm just so passionate about what I'm doing that
- 22:35Speaker 2: although at times it does feel like work, and it's
- 22:37Speaker 2: felt like work, in this past week, if or take it,
- 22:40Speaker 2: is still the best thing imaginable, and it could always
- 22:43Speaker 2: be way worse. I could be doing something that I hate,
- 22:45Speaker 2: So I have to just I owe it to myself
- 22:48Speaker 2: to show up for myself and be like very aware
- 22:52Speaker 2: and mindful.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Where I'm at Absolutely comes down to passion, right comes
- 22:56Speaker 1: down to passion. Absolutely, That's what it comes down to, folks.
- 22:59Speaker 1: If you want to create content online, you want to
- 23:01Speaker 1: do it for a long time. You won't even have
- 23:03Speaker 1: some passive income or just have it be your full
- 23:06Speaker 1: time job. It's all about passion and keeping that passion,
- 23:09Speaker 1: but having that balance as well. So speaking of passion, dude,
- 23:12Speaker 1: we're both passionate Eagles fans, Both passionate Eagles fans and
- 23:16Speaker 1: passionate Philly sports fans. I gotta tell you, folks, Andrew's
- 23:18Speaker 1: got a fantastic guitar. I forget what kind it is,
- 23:21Speaker 1: but it's an orange guitar. And he's got gritty right
- 23:24Speaker 1: below the bridge. Oh my god, I freaking love that.
- 23:28Speaker 2: You can't listen, can't see if it brought out, it's
- 23:31Speaker 2: just a reach away. I got gritty on it.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Oh, he's got gritty righty right below the bridge. It
- 23:36Speaker 1: made me smile so much. The first time I saw that,
- 23:39Speaker 1: I go, oh my god. I said to my wife,
- 23:40Speaker 1: Oh my god, Michelle, he's got gritty on a guitar.
- 23:43Speaker 1: So it was it was fantastic. Let's get into our
- 23:46Speaker 1: passion to the Philadelphia Eagles here, because training camp has started,
- 23:51Speaker 1: the season is right around the corner. Again. You're a
- 23:53Speaker 1: Philly guy, You've been a fan of the Eagles for
- 23:55Speaker 1: a long time. So two part question for you here
- 23:58Speaker 1: with regard to the Eagles, I wonder what are you
- 24:00Speaker 1: most excited about for the Eagles this coming season? From
- 24:03Speaker 1: what we've seen so far, either training camp, any of
- 24:06Speaker 1: the storylines we've been following, what are you most excited about.
- 24:10Speaker 2: I think I'm most excited about is it's like a
- 24:13Speaker 2: nervous excitement, but like, how are they gonna bounce back
- 24:16Speaker 2: after that catastrophic second half of last year?
- 24:19Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 24:19Speaker 2: Yeah, because like we were, we were we as if
- 24:22Speaker 2: I was playing the Eagles.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Sorry, everybody says, yeah, I know.
- 24:25Speaker 2: I find myself being like, dude, I'm not playing. The
- 24:29Speaker 2: Eagles were crushing it and everything was like smooth sale
- 24:31Speaker 2: and all of a sudden it fell apart. So I'm
- 24:33Speaker 2: really nervously excited to see that as well as I
- 24:36Speaker 2: think it's obvious seeing what Saquon does with the Eagles,
- 24:40Speaker 2: I think that's going to be really interesting and it
- 24:43Speaker 2: should in theory help the Eagles immensely. So that's the
- 24:47Speaker 2: most thing I'm most excited about. Those two things, excuse me,
- 24:49Speaker 2: are the things I'm most excited about.
- 24:50Speaker 1: So I think I think that's great because with regard
- 24:53Speaker 1: to Saquon Barkley, that balance that we're gonna end up
- 24:56Speaker 1: hopefully seeing on offense with him, with Kellen Moore new offense,
- 25:01Speaker 1: and how there's a lot more pre snap motion we're
- 25:03Speaker 1: gonna be seeing. I cannot wait to just see what
- 25:06Speaker 1: the offense is gonna look like. It's gonna be somewhat
- 25:08Speaker 1: of a different offense, and it's gonna be It is
- 25:11Speaker 1: going to be welcoming because if I have to see
- 25:14Speaker 1: that tight end screen with Dallas Goddard again, I'm gonna scratch.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I know we're gonna see it, but you just knew
- 25:21Speaker 1: when it was gonna be coming, when he would actually
- 25:23Speaker 1: like be in motion. You're like, my my god, we're
- 25:25Speaker 1: gonna see this freaking screen again. The other defense is
- 25:27Speaker 1: going to know exactly what's coming. So well, the second
- 25:30Speaker 1: part of the question is what you're most concerned about
- 25:33Speaker 1: when it comes to the Eagles heading into this season?
- 25:36Speaker 2: Here, Uh, most concerned. I mean, I'm gonna pull up
- 25:40Speaker 2: off screen. I'm gonna pull the schedule just so I
- 25:42Speaker 2: can take a look. I don't know if there's like
- 25:44Speaker 2: any I don't know if there's any glaring matchups off
- 25:47Speaker 2: the top of my head that really stand out. But
- 25:48Speaker 2: I will say I think losing Kelsey and Fletcher Fletcher
- 25:53Speaker 2: retired as.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Well, right, absolutely, yeah, yeah, okay.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Thinking sure, I got that, right, Yeah, those are like
- 25:59Speaker 2: those are I guess so the two pillars of like
- 26:03Speaker 2: the kind of I don't know that the Nick Foles
- 26:06Speaker 2: Carson wentz Era right, like that was that was the
- 26:09Speaker 2: highlight of being an Eagles fan for the last you know,
- 26:12Speaker 2: forever since like the McNab t odes like that was
- 26:15Speaker 2: the height in my opinion of when the Eagles were
- 26:17Speaker 2: out their Peagan. Obviously they won the Super Bowl and
- 26:19Speaker 2: took out Brady, so like having that leadership there and
- 26:22Speaker 2: having that not having that leadership once be there and
- 26:26Speaker 2: now it's not here in present day. Yeah, I think
- 26:29Speaker 2: that's a little concerning because you know, just because of
- 26:31Speaker 2: the obvious. I mean, those dudes are legends and potentially
- 26:35Speaker 2: are both Hall of Famers, And you know, it's losing
- 26:38Speaker 2: two massive foundation fun like two major pillars that set
- 26:44Speaker 2: the foundation of of you know, what makes the Eagles
- 26:47Speaker 2: the Eagles.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Absolutely, that's a It's a great concern because when you
- 26:52Speaker 1: lose that type of leaderships and er, it's it's tough
- 26:55Speaker 1: to not only get it back, but kind of recreate it.
- 26:57Speaker 1: And I think from a Jason Kelsey standpoint, you're not
- 26:59Speaker 1: necessrely going to recreate that type of leadership. Yeah, their
- 27:03Speaker 1: leaders can step up, but what type of leaders are
- 27:05Speaker 1: they going to be? So? Right before I let you go, buddy,
- 27:09Speaker 1: you know, we've been talking about it here on this podcast.
- 27:12Speaker 1: A decent amount coach uh Nick Sirianni the head coach
- 27:15Speaker 1: of this team, and where he's gonna need to take
- 27:17Speaker 1: the team this year. Conventional wisdom says he's probably gonna
- 27:21Speaker 1: need to win at least one playoff game or get
- 27:23Speaker 1: to the NFC Championship game in order to keep his
- 27:26Speaker 1: job here. What are your thoughts about Nick Sirianni being
- 27:30Speaker 1: on the hot seat and how his coaching tenure has
- 27:33Speaker 1: been thus far, because it certainly has been up and down.
- 27:36Speaker 2: It really has. Yeah, it's interesting because like it was
- 27:39Speaker 2: less than favorable, then it was really good, and then
- 27:42Speaker 2: it was really good up until, like I said, before
- 27:44Speaker 2: the half of the second half of last year. So
- 27:47Speaker 2: for him to keep his job, for him to like
- 27:49Speaker 2: have the respect and like, okay, he's a good head
- 27:52Speaker 2: coach going forward for the Eagles, Yeah, I think, yeah,
- 27:56Speaker 2: definitely definitely playoff birth. I think that's to be expected. Yeah,
- 28:01Speaker 2: you know, Eagles football, Like Eagles. Eagles have been good
- 28:04Speaker 2: more or less ever since I was a kid going
- 28:06Speaker 2: forward again, like since the McNab you know, Brian Mitchell
- 28:10Speaker 2: by in Westbrook, Dawkins days, Todd Pinkston you know, yes, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 28:20Speaker 2: but like that era is like what I grew up
- 28:21Speaker 2: on and ever since then more or less. I mean
- 28:23Speaker 2: it faltered a little bit in like the twenty teams,
- 28:25Speaker 2: but like Eagles have always been good. So I think
- 28:29Speaker 2: a playoff wins definitely must. I don't I say getting
- 28:33Speaker 2: past the divisional round, Like I don't think you need
- 28:35Speaker 2: to win the championship game. Yeah, but like if you
- 28:37Speaker 2: can get there, that's what I think. Yeah, yeah, I
- 28:39Speaker 2: think I think a playoff win like wildcard okay, if
- 28:44Speaker 2: you get to the divisional round. Yeah, I'll just answer
- 28:49Speaker 2: this question if you if you win, if you win
- 28:52Speaker 2: the wildcard game, I think he'll keep his job. Just
- 28:56Speaker 2: one playoff win of any kind, any caliber, whether or
- 28:59Speaker 2: not they win the division And I think that's what
- 29:01Speaker 2: need quote unquote needs to happen for him to like
- 29:04Speaker 2: stay as a coach.
- 29:05Speaker 1: All right, Very good again, folks. Xander Raymond Charles. I
- 29:09Speaker 1: subscribe on YouTube. I'm listening to his awesome music on
