- John Adams: Welcome back to another week of the Health Tech and Wellness Podcast. I'm John Adams. Crystal Nevedale: And I'm Crystal Neverdale. John Adams: And as you know, we've been gone for a few weeks. And we just want to welcome everybody back. first off, we'll just do a little catch-up here because we've been gone for a little while and we we've kind of seen some things back and forth, but really haven't talked. So how was your fourth? How's your summer starting in the store? Like I know you've got some chaos really ripping and roaring, and that's kind of why we took the time off. Crystal Nevedale: Yes. So I'm in full swing of busy season. So what that means is in order to leave at four, you have to lock people in so nobody else can get in. so it's very, very, very busy. But it's a good busy. Like that's what we look forward to all year. it's just learning to manage and making sure I'm not just working. John Adams: No, for sure. No, that that's the biggest thing. And as as everybody can probably tell, you're you're in your back office at your store. so we're squeezing this in because I think that these conversations are very important. So thank you, you know, for taking this time and we can, you know, we'll we'll make the rest of them work out and finish the second half of the year off strong. And I think we've got some really good guests lined up. but that's kind of one of the topics that I kind of wanted to just talk about this week is You know, even when you kind of take that little bit of break from certain things, life seems to still kind of just come at you in all directions, right? and you'd sent a picture of your new little like foot vibrator thing that you got, and you were talking about being on your feet all day. so let's kind of just dive into your recent chaos. We just talked about the fact that you gotta. Crystal Nevedale: Yeah. John Adams: kind of lock up early to get people so we can get on. But, you know, just just touch on it. You know, I know that we've both been going through some real busy seasons in our life right now. And we just want to kind of show people that it it happens, right? Even in the best of times. So kind of what's been going on with you? Crystal Nevedale: so lots has been going on. So besides working full time at the shop, I have an uncle that's pretty sick and having some issues, and I'm having to deal with some things in his home. I have my grandkids who still need their yanny. I got Emily, of course, our relationship's still going strong. We had our six months, and we have shooting. you know, we have the horse, we have all these things, the dog, we have all these things that need our attention all the time. John Adams: Congrats. Crystal Nevedale: Like I think what I've been trying to do recently is even though I'm like working every day, I'm trying to find like find a way to do something I love once a day, whether it's in the morning before I go to work or if it's on the other end of getting out of work and doing something. Because I was trying to like I was almost like that whole month of May working every single day. I was kind of being real lazy at night, like just not wanting to do anything. Even though I was still doing things, I have appointments. competitions, all these things going on. So but I'm trying to have a balance and I feel like I have a pretty good balance. I mean I'm tired as heck. I'm I'm not gonna lie to you about it. I'm tired. But you know what there's it's graduation season. It's wet wedding season. It's all kinds of stuff going on. John Adams: And and this is why I call it Living 95, right? Because the habits that you built during the 95% of life that's kind of I don't want to ever say chaos free, but kind of a little bit better, help you sustain through these times where you gotta grind, right? because that's one of the things that I always like to let people know. Living ninety five, the health tech and wellness podcast, what we talk, the the you know, small consistent habits. We're not talking about being lazy. We're not talking about not giving it your all when you have to, right? We're talking about making the preparation in the times that we can. So when these times hit, it's just that little bit easier to get through that, right? And when you sent that message, you know, showing me the little foot vibrator thing, and you're talking about, you know, just things going on with your health. First thing that popped into my head is. Crystal Nevedale: Right. John Adams: You know, even when we're in grind mode, and even when we're we're in that five percent where we're just trying to push, push, push, push, push, we still have to remember our bodies are eventually gonna go. hey asshole, I I still need attention here. Like you're you're you're grinding, you're doing amazing, but remember me. I'm gonna wake you up right now and let you know your feet hurt, your back hurts, your ankles are swelling. Like, what's going on? So we definitely need to always remember that, that we are. For lack of better words, even in those busy seasons, we still gotta take that time to take care of ourselves, right? Crystal Nevedale: And I feel like for myself too, I really do switch my regimen nonstop. Like I never stick with the same thing. I'm always trying to find something else. Like like I was saying, you were talking about my health, like my hips and my knees and my joints have really been bothering me. So I like I started a new tameric thing, you know, supplement. And so I'm always trying to strive to do better with my body too, because I know that it is under stress. So what things are gonna help me feel better in that machine you were talking about? You know, it's it's that vibrating machine. It's supposed to help lose weight and stuff too, but it's also like supposed to help with also like lymph drainage and you know, your pain in your knees and your hips. So and to be honest with you, between the turmeric and that I do see an improvement. I do. And that's only I've been on the tameric probably two or three weeks. and I've been on doing the briber shake thing for about a week. John Adams: Nice. Nice. No, and then that's the most important stuff is you found you found that there's a need and you're addressing it right away. you know, for myself, the last, you know, four weeks, well, probably even going into those four weeks, that's why it was so easy to go, hey Crystal, do you need four weeks away from life has just been really getting crazy. And like Cindy's mom right now, she's at, you know, end stage of life, you know, she's on hospice care and probably looking any day, right? And You know, she's busy over there. I'm busy, you know, trying to build this. I had another creator that kind of is in the same realm as me. and we reached out with each other and we've been talking and he's like, dude, can you handle a second podcast? And I'm like, you know what? not to steal your comment yesterday, but I'm up for the challenge, right? Because this is what I'm trying to build, right? So I've got the health side with you, and I'll have the the you know, creator side with him. And then hopefully that'll help with the business that I'm trying to build also. but the nice thing with that is because he's in that creator well realm and he does production for another podcast, I don't know if you got to listen to any of their episodes yet, but we might have a potential guest to have on because they talk the exact stuff that we talk, but they've actually, I think, got the the degrees to back it up. Right. We've got the scars, they've got the degrees, and I think it'll be an interesting conversation with them if we can get them on. Crystal Nevedale: Yeah, I was listening to the one it was about trauma and stuff like that. The lady who has a little bit of an accent. Yeah. Yeah, I listened to some of it. John Adams: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think that they'll be interesting to bring on also. So yeah, that kind of opened up a couple new realms for, you know, me to jump into. And then like I said, with her mother, it's just been a it so we're both dealing with a little bit of health issues with family right now, too. but that's the biggest thing is when we're in these seasons, right? We're in the busy seasons of our life. You know, I'm I've been in this building phase for a little bit. You're in the busy season with your store, we still need to remember what matters, right? So our health and our relationships, right? So for me, you know, trying to make sure that I'm here for Cindy, that I'm doing the things that I need to do for her. Because, you know, I lost both my parents. They're gone, right? And when I lost my father, it really didn't, I mean it it hurt, but it didn't hit me as hard. When I lost my mother, it tore me apart. And I hated hearing the words. I know what you're going through. I've been there. You don't know what I'm going through because you deal with things different than I do, right? so it's been really hard. I'm trying to, you know, just just be there. Just listen. Try not to say the things that I didn't like hearing, right? I didn't like people telling me, I understand. No, you don't. You know, so trying to be there for her, trying to be there for myself. and I'm gonna be honest, the last four weeks, my personal health have probably been the last thing on my mind. so getting back into this and and talking about it again is gonna help spark me to get back to where I need to be. And then you showing me your things that you're doing to say, hey, I realized I've got some things I gotta take care of. Let me fix this. So this is why this matters, right? Not just for our listeners, but for both of us, right? Crystal Nevedale: Yeah. Yeah. Right. Keep us accountable. John Adams: One hundred percent. Yeah. so anything else going on? how's the business going? It's been busy then. You're saying you gotta lock people in so more people don't come in, right? Crystal Nevedale: It's it's been crazy to try to keep up. But I had a big event last month, at the end of the month too. and then you know, we had fish festivals, so that's a big event here in town that brings thousands of people. So it's been great. It's been great for business. Like my business side of life is great, my relationship's great. It's just trying to balance it all right now and trying to keep myself I gotta tell you something really quick. We'll bring it on to this podcast. Guess what? You're never gonna believe it. John Adams: Yeah. Crystal Nevedale: My mom's John Adams: Sure. Crystal Nevedale: getting married. Yeah. It was a shock to me, I had to call my sister and make sure she wasn't pulling pulling the wool over something and playing a joke. Her and Richard finally are getting married. John Adams: Really? Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, finally. Wow. When is it? Crystal Nevedale: April August seventh. John Adams: August seventh. Okay. So pending life right now, tell her we need an invite. Cause that'll be a amazing. Yes. Wow. Finally. That's awesome. Crystal Nevedale: Right. Yeah. Yeah. It's been I mean, they've been together since I was probably nineteen. I'm forty-four. John Adams: Yeah. Well well well talk about two people that have been through the good, the bad, and the ugly, right? And they've stuck through it through it all. And that's awesome. Wow. Well, if you're listening, congratulations. And I do want an invite for me and Cindy, pending things with her mother. You know, we'll see what goes on there. But wow, that's awesome. Man, they've been through so much. Yeah. Crystal Nevedale: Yeah. Yeah, I'm grateful. Yeah. Yeah, so I got all these fun things coming. John Adams: August seventh. Wow. Okay. I'm gonna mark that on my calendar. I expect an invite. Crystal Nevedale: I'll let her know. I know they're just doing a small little ceremony here in Vermilion and Yeah. But I thought I'd share that with you before I forgot. John Adams: Where's it gonna be? Yeah, Vermillion. Nice. no, no, that is huge. That's what this episode's about. This episode's about catching up, talking about the good, the bad, the ugly, the things that we're going through. because you know, I I biggest thing I want our listeners to get out of this full episode is we need to grind, we need to push. We need to do what we need to do, but we also need to make sure that we don't lose ourselves in that, right? I spent 20 some years of my life letting my health fall to the wayside because I was grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, work, work, work, work, work. And then I didn't let my health even have an eighth of my life. And then I started working on it. Got things a lot better. And I've kind of let it slip, be honest, because I'm building so many things and I've got to get that back to where I used to be. Am I still, you know, trying to work out? Sure. But am I eating healthy like I should? No. No. Life has just been hectic, right? And we're running and and having the healthiest food around at the at all times has been tough. and then I been behind this desk right here way too often. but I think what I'm gonna do shortly is invest in a standing desk because I need to get out of this chair and stand, especially, you know, editing and stuff. I've been trying to edit more for my laptop at the counter, just doing more things to try to kind of be more mindful of my time off my feet versus my time on my feet. Crystal Nevedale: You know what? They have those vibration plates that you can just stand on while you do that. That would be excellent for you. It would probably be really good. You should look into it. And it doesn't have to be super powerful. It's just something to keep your legs moving in the in the it's it's a good choice. Do a little research on your own and see what you think, but that might even be good because I can read a book while doing it. So it's not like I'm shaking off the machine. I can literally stand there and read my book while I'm on it. John Adams: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Right, yeah. Yeah. Well b yeah, biggest thing for me is just to stand. So I I gotta get one of those desks that you push the button and it raises so I can get out of the chair and then you know, when I'm doing recording I can lower it back down, get things lined back up. No, I'll I'll definitely look into that. so it okay, so you could turn it down so it's not shaky. That's cool. Okay. Yeah. I'm gonna definitely Crystal Nevedale: Yeah, you could put it on ten, but it's just giving you extra movement and it's it's making your muscles contract and you're not even knowing it's happening. So I mean, I don't I don't think it could hurt anybody. John Adams: Yeah, it it's to keep you balanced. No, for sure. Yeah, it's it's definitely to keep you balanced and and your your muscles are gonna work twice. Yeah, that's awesome. anything else on your mind we wrap this one up? Crystal Nevedale: just want to say like being committed to something is really important and it was very frustrating for me today to make this happen besides my store being full of people my I'm in my office recording my phone wouldn't work all of these things but what I want to say is that when you really want to do something you really are able to do it. You just really have to push your mind to do it. Like, do you think it it doesn't make me feel good that I have this mess behind me, but this is where I need to be. So it's about showing up. It's not always about everything else. Like it it's about showing up for yourself and for others. John Adams: That is huge. And and I wasn't gonna say it, but I'm gonna say it since you brought it up. so when you're talking about commitments and you're talking about doing things that you need to do, right? before we got on to the episode, she messages me and says, my phone is full and Riverside won't we use Riverside to record. Riverside won't update now. I get a message that she's popped in. So I'm thinking, okay, did she figure something out? No, she said priorities and deleted 500 photos off of her phone, which you did not have to do. I appreciate that you did, but that's the commitment piece, right? You what's the where's the priorities, right? And you said they were photos that you really didn't absolutely need, but still I felt terrible when you said it. But that's the whole thing, you know. As much as we talk balance, as much as we talk the small things, priorities matter, right? And your health and your your mental health and you know your relationships, they need to be priority, right? And Crystal Nevedale: Well, every time that you look for an excuse, you'll find it. Every time. Every time. I mean, it's I deal with people all day long. And I'm telling you that people are easy to find excuses for everything. Like could have very well texted you and said, you know what, John, it's not working on my iPad. It's not working on my phone. We're gonna have to do this another day. But instead, I just kept doing whatever I could do. I tried three different things all at once, trying to figure out what would work. And that's what it took. But John Adams: One hundred percent. Yeah. Crystal Nevedale: That shows where I'm committed to things where others may not have done that, you know? John Adams: Yeah. No, and and and that's the thing, you know, we we do this so people can see that this is not, you know, the life life is not easy, right? We sometimes we make it sound like okay, we've got it all no, we don't have it all figured out. So, right. Crystal Nevedale: No. Got nothing figured out. Not a damn thing figured out. I just don't stop. I just keep working till I do figure it out. And it doesn't ever look pretty, I promise you that. John Adams: Yeah. Well, that's the great thing about it all is we can succeed in the mess way faster than we can be lazy in the pretty. Crystal Nevedale: Yeah. Yep. Amen to that. John Adams: So, well, thank you so much for deleting 500 photos so we can get back on here and get this rolling. I wanted to make this one an easy one for us because again, we just want to kind of get back into it, get ready to roll.
