- 0:00Speaker 1: I've never done this location.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Before.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Mr.
- 0:08Speaker 2: President, tell us why the world should not be concerned
- 0:11Speaker 2: about AI, why there shouldn't be guardrails.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Because we have people that love our country and love
- 0:17Speaker 1: the world a lot.
- 0:17Speaker 2: But it requires more than love, doesn't it, sir?
- 0:19Speaker 1: No, it requires this. And they're the smartest people in
- 0:22Speaker 1: the world. And we had a great meeting today, every
- 0:24Speaker 1: one of them. We had a great really a great,
- 0:26Speaker 1: great meeting. It was something very, very special. We had
- 0:29Speaker 1: the top— I' d say it looked like a group of about 40,
- 0:33Speaker 1: but whatever it was, here's one of them right here,
- 0:35Speaker 1: Jensen and Navidya. And they love our country and they
- 0:41Speaker 1: love the world. And they came together and they did
- 0:43Speaker 1: something that few people really— it' s almost like a constitution thing.
- 0:47Speaker 3: In a way.
- 0:49Speaker 1: And the biggest people in the world signed that, and
- 0:53Speaker 1: I signed it as president, and it really is a
- 0:56Speaker 1: form of protection.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Who should be held accountable when the AI agents committed
- 1:10Speaker 4: a crime?
- 1:11Speaker 1: It's not AI. It's SSI. That's the other thing. We've
- 1:14Speaker 1: changed the name officially today. We've changed the name, Steve,
- 1:18Speaker 1: officially to SI, OK? SI, like SI, SI, instead of AI.
- 1:25Speaker 1: You know what that means? Superintelligence. So, the name— I guess
- 1:30Speaker 1: that's really quite an announcement, because— but the name has been
- 1:34Speaker 1: officially changed by the biggest, the smartest, the greatest people
- 1:39Speaker 1: anywhere in the world at this. And I was with
- 1:41Speaker 1: President Xi a few days ago, and he would admit,
- 1:43Speaker 1: he said, these are the smartest people in the world
- 1:46Speaker 1: at what they do. And it's a big— it' s a big thing.
- 1:48Speaker 1: But it's been officially changed to superintelligence.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Or SI.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Mr.
- 1:56Speaker 2: President, it's more than about a name, isn't it?
- 1:59Speaker 4: Is this accord that everybody signed, is it binding in
- 2:01Speaker 4: any way?
- 2:02Speaker 1: I think it's morally binding, yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Mr. President, what could a bad actor do with this technology,
- 2:13Speaker 3: from what you hear from your intelligence people?
- 2:15Speaker 1: Well, I tell you, a good actor can do tremendous
- 2:18Speaker 1: in terms of medical— it' s already taking place. They're finding solutions
- 2:22Speaker 1: to problems that they've never thought even possible. And they're
- 2:25Speaker 1: coming up with medical solutions that are incredible, a lot
- 2:28Speaker 1: of other things very positive. And a bad actor is
- 2:31Speaker 1: going to get caught. And that's why we have the DOJ.
- 2:34Speaker 1: That's why we have the FBI. That's why we have
- 2:36Speaker 1: the CIA. A bad actor is going to get caught.
- 2:39Speaker 1: But what they signed today means something very— you know,
- 2:42Speaker 1: we had the biggest. That was a who's who. I
- 2:45Speaker 1: don't know if that's ever going to be assembled again.
- 2:47Speaker 1: But that was a who's who of that world. And
- 2:51Speaker 1: I think it's a very special day. You know, they
- 2:53Speaker 1: almost viewed it as a separate kind of a constitution.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And I think when they signed that, it meant a lot.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Mr.
- 3:02Speaker 5: President, did anything that you heard today, did anything change
- 3:05Speaker 5: your mind, given the fact that you've said you don't
- 3:07Speaker 5: want to see guardrails, you don't want to see AI
- 3:09Speaker 5: slowed down? Anything that you heard today change your mind
- 3:11Speaker 5: on that?
- 3:12Speaker 1: Well, I think I'm seeing tremendous self-policing. And they understand
- 3:15Speaker 1: that they have to self-police. And it's very hard for
- 3:18Speaker 1: somebody to come out and say, get into these models.
- 3:20Speaker 1: These models are very complex. And again, I believe they're
- 3:23Speaker 1: going to be used for the good. And when they're not,
- 3:26Speaker 1: we're going to be able to nab them. But there's
- 3:27Speaker 1: going to be a tremendous self-policing aspect. We're also thinking
- 3:32Speaker 1: about forming a committee of sorts where we put maybe
- 3:36Speaker 1: 10 people.
- 3:36Speaker 6: On that committee.
- 3:37Speaker 1: It could be from that group so that we can
- 3:39Speaker 1: so the committee can watch over. The whole enterprise.
- 3:44Speaker 5: You've also indicated that Democrats are talking about concerns about
- 3:48Speaker 5: AI as a hoax. Do you believe that after meeting
- 3:50Speaker 5: with all these AI tech leaders?
- 3:51Speaker 6: Yeah, I do.
- 3:52Speaker 1: I think they would love to see it shut down,
- 3:54Speaker 1: just like it was a hoax the 12 years for
- 3:56Speaker 1: global warming. which they changed right now to climate change.
- 4:00Speaker 5: Even though Bill Gates says that AI could kill up
- 4:03Speaker 5: to a billion people?
- 4:03Speaker 1: Well, now he's not saying that anymore.
- 4:05Speaker 5: He said that this Sunday.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Well, I don't care what he said Sunday, because I
- 4:08Speaker 1: can tell you yesterday he didn't say that at.
- 4:11Speaker 2: All.
- 4:12Speaker 1: He actually went the opposite. But look, it's one voice.
- 4:16Speaker 1: He actually went the opposite. No, we're looking at this
- 4:19Speaker 1: for good. It's also maybe the biggest industry. They say
- 4:23Speaker 1: bigger than the Industrial Revolution.
- 4:25Speaker 6: Think of it.
- 4:26Speaker 5: You know what?
- 4:27Speaker 1: We're leading by a lot, and we're going to keep
- 4:29Speaker 1: it that way.
- 4:30Speaker 4: You're someone who always talks about growth when speaking of this.
- 4:35Speaker 6: After this meeting, meeting with all these incredible minds, how.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Much growth can we see in the upcoming years with
- 4:40Speaker 4: all of your.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Minds put together? The President The growth like nobody has
- 4:42Speaker 1: ever seen before. And I see it with these statements.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Statements came out. You open a company, and if it
- 4:48Speaker 1: does reasonably well, it goes a little bit like this.
- 4:52Speaker 1: These companies are opening and going like a rocket ship.
- 4:55Speaker 1: This is unbelievable growth for our country. And we have
- 4:59Speaker 1: all of them.
- 4:59Speaker 2: In all due.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Respect, Europe has none. They have none. They have to
- 5:05Speaker 1: count on us to help. But we have all of them.
- 5:08Speaker 1: And it's amazing. Second is China. But as President Xi
- 5:12Speaker 1: would say, you know, they're quite a ways back. And
- 5:15Speaker 1: we have to keep it that way.
- 5:16Speaker 6: Remember this.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Whoever wins SI, because now we're calling it again, super.
- 5:21Speaker 1: We're using the word super. Because the other word is
- 5:25Speaker 1: a fake word. It's just not a good, it's not
- 5:28Speaker 1: an appropriate word. Whoever wins SI is going to win.
- 5:35Speaker 3: What do you tell Americans, sir, about data centers going
- 5:39Speaker 3: up in their communities?
- 5:39Speaker 1: Well, that's another thing we discussed, and I think the
- 5:42Speaker 1: companies will be very generous to them, both financially and otherwise.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I think they'll help with their schools, they'll help with
- 5:49Speaker 1: their teachers, they'll help with pay of the teachers and
- 5:52Speaker 1: the people that are good to them. And I see
- 5:55Speaker 1: that happening. And I think the companies will be very
- 5:57Speaker 1: generous to these communities. And if you look at most—
- 6:01Speaker 1: almost in all cases, the data centers have tremendously— the
- 6:05Speaker 1: money being brought in, their taxes have gone down, their
- 6:08Speaker 1: incomes have gone up, their value of their housing has
- 6:11Speaker 1: gone up. But I think that the companies— and here's
- 6:14Speaker 1: one of the greatest in the world. There's two of
- 6:16Speaker 1: the greatest in the world. They're going to be very
- 6:19Speaker 1: generous with communities. In a way, they're going to be
- 6:22Speaker 1: forming partnerships with communities when they open up data centers.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And they're going to benefit both financially, morally. Every single way,
- 6:31Speaker 1: they're going to be benefiting. And I think that's taking place.
- 6:35Speaker 3: What is the importance of superintelligence in the next 10 years?
- 6:39Speaker 1: What's the biggest thing there is? And nobody even can
- 6:41Speaker 1: answer that question, because it is the biggest thing there is.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Maybe the biggest thing there's ever been. It's much bigger
- 6:50Speaker 1: than the Internet. Now, that's already been proved. The Internet
- 6:53Speaker 1: was a big thing when it happened. This blows it away,
- 6:55Speaker 1: I think, Jensen. Would you say? Would you say something
- 6:57Speaker 1: about that?
- 6:58Speaker 6: Go ahead.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Mr. Yes, sir.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Well, this is the largest industrial revolution in history. And
- 7:03Speaker 3: we're going through the single largest infrastructure build-out in human history.
- 7:07Speaker 3: And so it's creating a million jobs here in the
- 7:10Speaker 3: United States. We have chip plants coming up, computer plants
- 7:14Speaker 3: coming up. We have factories coming up. And so it's
- 7:16Speaker 3: creating just an enormous amount of jobs. On top of
- 7:18Speaker 3: this infrastructure, Several hundred billion dollars of venture capital has
- 7:23Speaker 3: gone into creating new companies. And all of those thousands
- 7:27Speaker 3: of companies are creating lots and lots of jobs.
- 7:29Speaker 5: As an example, Davidian.
- 7:34Speaker 1: So he's still a young guy, handsome guy.
- 7:36Speaker 6: Look at him.
- 7:37Speaker 1: He's a very handsome guy. But as an example, in
- 7:40Speaker 1: a fairly short period of time, he's built, I think,
- 7:43Speaker 1: the most valuable, right, in the stock market. It's very
- 7:47Speaker 1: easy to value. The most valuable company anywhere in the world.
- 7:52Speaker 1: And it's basically new technology. It's not oil and gas
- 7:56Speaker 1: and all the other things that you associate with also
- 7:59Speaker 1: a lot of money. It's technology. And This man has
- 8:03Speaker 1: done a great job. That man right there has done
- 8:05Speaker 1: a great job. You know what he's doing, too. Same thing. And, Greg,
- 8:09Speaker 1: do you have anything to say?
- 8:11Speaker 6: So we build artificial intelligence.
- 8:14Speaker 1: This is open AI.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Open AI.
- 8:16Speaker 6: Thank you, Mr. President. We build artificial intelligence to benefit everyone.
- 8:19Speaker 6: We think it can lift everyone up. We see a
- 8:21Speaker 6: whole renaissance of small businesses, scientific discoveries really starting to happen,
- 8:25Speaker 6: drug development. really being able to improve everyone's lives. And
- 8:28Speaker 6: we think that these accords and under President Trump's leadership,
- 8:31Speaker 6: everyone coming together to agree on how to move forward safely,
- 8:34Speaker 6: I think that's just so important because we're doing this
- 8:36Speaker 6: in order to benefit people in the world.
- 8:37Speaker 2: So do you agree with the president? Do you agree
- 8:40Speaker 2: with the president? Do you all agree with the president
- 8:42Speaker 2: that no guardrails are necessary, that you can self-regulate and
- 8:47Speaker 2: that this existential threat that you've all talked about can
- 8:50Speaker 2: actually be managed? That's a question for you all, actually.
- 8:53Speaker 2: I don't know who to focus on.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I can tell you the answer is yes.
- 8:56Speaker 1: We discussed it with the top about 40 people. But
- 9:00Speaker 1: somebody who answered it very well is Jensen. He answered
- 9:03Speaker 1: it before. Jensen, go ahead.
- 9:04Speaker 3: There's no conflict between innovation, technology and safety. We are
- 9:10Speaker 3: going to have to create new technologies to advance the
- 9:12Speaker 3: capabilities of AI, but we're also creating new technologies to
- 9:15Speaker 3: advance the safety of AI. All of this technology is
- 9:18Speaker 3: being developed by the industry today, and you see behind
- 9:21Speaker 3: me just an incredible number of leaders in our industry
- 9:25Speaker 3: moving together as one, and we're going to We're going
- 9:27Speaker 3: to advance this technology that is so consequential to humanity,
- 9:30Speaker 3: so consequential to the future prosperity of our nation, and
- 9:33Speaker 3: we're going to do it responsibly and safely. Mr.
- 9:43Speaker 5: President, are you concerned at all that your continued support
- 9:45Speaker 5: of data centers could hurt Republicans in the midterms?
- 9:48Speaker 1: I just have to do what's right. All I can
- 9:50Speaker 1: tell you is that These big, powerful, very rich, very
- 9:54Speaker 1: smart companies are going to be making massive contributions to communities.
- 9:59Speaker 1: individual people within the community. And it's going to be
- 10:03Speaker 1: really partnership. We talked about it. They're going to be
- 10:05Speaker 1: forming partnerships with communities. They're going to have they're going
- 10:08Speaker 1: to take something that people don't understand and they're going
- 10:10Speaker 1: to let them understand it. but they're going to form
- 10:12Speaker 1: partnerships within the communities that's going to be so good
- 10:16Speaker 1: for the people.
- 10:16Speaker 5: Even as you're supporting the communities.
- 10:18Speaker 4: And I stress the midterms. You talked about that. Our
- 10:20Speaker 4: candidates for Congress right now, the Republicans in the House,
- 10:23Speaker 4: our candidates and our incumbents, are out in their communities
- 10:26Speaker 4: right now as we speak communicating on this. They're saying
- 10:29Speaker 4: we cannot lose the race to China. We cannot lose
- 10:31Speaker 4: America's edge. because it's important for every American worker, every
- 10:35Speaker 4: American family, for their safety, security, the future, the economy.
- 10:39Speaker 4: But it has to be a balance. You have to
- 10:41Speaker 4: take the community concerns in hand. That's what all of
- 10:44Speaker 4: these folks agree to.
- 10:45Speaker 2: That's what the president— All right, we're going to break
- 10:46Speaker 2: in for just a moment.
