- 0:07Speaker 1: This podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show when
- 0:13Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host Spencer new Arth, and
- 0:16Speaker 2: today we're joined by Brody Randall, Corey, Seth, Sarah and Logan.
- 0:20Speaker 2: This is a ten round quiz show with questions from
- 0:22Speaker 2: Meat Eater's four verticals, which are hunting, fish, and conservation cooking.
- 0:26Speaker 2: There is a prize will donate five hundred dollars to
- 0:29Speaker 2: the Conservation organization of the winners choosing. Starting off today's
- 0:33Speaker 2: show with a mail bag question, send your mail bag
- 0:36Speaker 2: question to Trivia at the meadeater dot com with the
- 0:39Speaker 2: subject line mail bag if you have a question that
- 0:41Speaker 2: you want the crew to answer. Today's questions from Dylan
- 0:45Speaker 2: Cole I think he said in his email he's twelve
- 0:47Speaker 2: years old, he says. Does the crew have any bucket
- 0:50Speaker 2: list fish? Mine is the tarpin. Mine is in Dylan's,
- 0:54Speaker 2: not Spencer's.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Seth.
- 0:56Speaker 2: What's a bucket list fish?
- 0:59Speaker 3: I don't really have a bucket list fish. I have
- 1:01Speaker 3: bucket list places where I want to catch fish.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Okay, give me an example.
- 1:05Speaker 4: I'd like to go to Norway to fish for like
- 1:08Speaker 4: halbit and stuff there.
- 1:10Speaker 2: What about something state side.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Well, I mean like bucket list places.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Sure.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Oh, I want to hit all the cool places down south,
- 1:18Speaker 3: like Gunnersville and like for like all the famous uh fish.
- 1:23Speaker 2: With the bast master classic visits those Randall bucket list fish.
- 1:29Speaker 5: M I just like a giant king salmon, like a
- 1:36Speaker 5: giant one, okay, the ones that are few and far
- 1:39Speaker 5: between and fewer.
- 1:40Speaker 6: Yeah, that is bucket lists. They don't make them like
- 1:42Speaker 6: that giant.
- 1:44Speaker 1: No, I've caught. I've caught them over forty like a
- 1:47Speaker 1: sixty plus.
- 1:49Speaker 2: That is giant XXL logan bucket list fish.
- 1:53Speaker 7: A red snapper that I could actually keep, caught them before,
- 1:57Speaker 7: but I want to actually catch it.
- 1:58Speaker 1: And eat it.
- 1:59Speaker 2: So I'm not familiar with red snapper. Is there like
- 2:01Speaker 2: a slot if you catch one below the slot?
- 2:04Speaker 1: When we were.
- 2:05Speaker 7: In Florida, we had to toss back all the red
- 2:07Speaker 7: snappers because they're out of season. So we caught like
- 2:10Speaker 7: a bunch of red snappers where we couldn't keep anyone,
- 2:12Speaker 7: and then we threw them back in the water and
- 2:14Speaker 7: watched all the sharks eat them.
- 2:15Speaker 1: M okay.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Probably the most attainable bucket list fish we've heard so far, Sarah,
- 2:20Speaker 2: bucket list fish I'd like to catch a permit on
- 2:23Speaker 2: the fly. Okay, Corey, I'd love to go to Mongolia
- 2:29Speaker 2: and catch a timing.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Wow.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Oh it's cool fish, Brody.
- 2:35Speaker 6: Uh couber snapper in Panama?
- 2:38Speaker 1: Wow? Wow, they get big? How cool? Good fishes? How big?
- 2:43Speaker 6: Like eighty like a giant?
- 2:46Speaker 2: Maybe this is a meat eater series. We go catch
- 2:49Speaker 2: our bucket list fish. We see Logan catch like a
- 2:51Speaker 2: twenty two inch snapper, followed by Brody in some extreme jungle.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Well, take Seth to Norway. Yeah, I caught a fish
- 2:59Speaker 1: in Norway?
- 3:00Speaker 4: Did ye?
- 3:00Speaker 1: What was it? Uh? The guys called it a mackerel.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I don't know if that's what it.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Was, holy mackerel.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I've never caught a musky, so I would say a
- 3:09Speaker 2: musky is my bucket fish. We used to work at
- 3:11Speaker 2: a fish hatchery and I raised thousands of them, and
- 3:13Speaker 2: I've held them in my bare hands that I caught
- 3:15Speaker 2: out of a rearing pond. So I've caught musky with
- 3:18Speaker 2: my bare hands, but I've never caught one on a
- 3:20Speaker 2: on a hook.
- 3:20Speaker 6: And lot go visit Chester. He'll put you on one.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Well, I'd like having an attainable bucket.
- 3:25Speaker 4: List one you say, block off about two weeks.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Then I can do it. Yeah, we have some housekeeping
- 3:30Speaker 2: to get you. On a previous episode, we had a
- 3:32Speaker 2: question about the phone number you should call before planting
- 3:35Speaker 2: a tree. The answer was eight one to one, but
- 3:37Speaker 2: in the follow up discussion there were some wondering aloud
- 3:40Speaker 2: about the other one to one phone numbers. So here's
- 3:42Speaker 2: a full list. Two to one one is community services
- 3:46Speaker 2: and information, examples being food banks and support groups. They'll
- 3:50Speaker 2: tell you where those are located. Three to one one
- 3:52Speaker 2: municipal government services. Examples being to report abandoned vehicles or
- 3:57Speaker 2: noise complaints. Those are nonny urgencies that you call for.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Four to one one directory assistance, so you call four
- 4:05Speaker 2: one one and it tells you the phone number to
- 4:07Speaker 2: something else. That was the one we had heavily discussed.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Six to one excuse me. Five to one one is traffic.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Six to one one telephone company customer service. Seven to
- 4:17Speaker 2: one one telecommunications for deaf and hard of hearing. Eight
- 4:22Speaker 2: one one underground utility location. Nine to one to one
- 4:25Speaker 2: emergency services. Most but not all, are nationally operated. In
- 4:29Speaker 2: some of them like four to one one, which is
- 4:31Speaker 2: the directory assistance, and six one one which is the
- 4:35Speaker 2: telephone customer service are actually going extinct and are getting
- 4:40Speaker 2: harder to find. So there are all of your one ones.
- 4:43Speaker 5: I've been getting a ton of eight one one ads
- 4:46Speaker 5: on Instagram.
- 4:47Speaker 7: Book it's because I've been like thinking about digging in
- 4:50Speaker 7: my backyard.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Has anyone used eight one one before?
- 4:53Speaker 2: I did about two months ago?
- 4:55Speaker 1: Well?
- 4:55Speaker 4: How quick is that process?
- 4:56Speaker 2: So you call them and then you tell them your location,
- 5:00Speaker 2: and you go online, you fill out a thing and
- 5:01Speaker 2: then they send out their utility companies to mark spots.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Their list is like, for where I lived, eight companies
- 5:09Speaker 2: long or something, and I think six of those emailed
- 5:12Speaker 2: me back within twenty four hours and said your property
- 5:14Speaker 2: is of no concern for us. And then the other
- 5:16Speaker 2: two came out and they did mark things, and I
- 5:18Speaker 2: think it was within like ten days. So it happens
- 5:21Speaker 2: pretty quick, and I think it helps if you get
- 5:22Speaker 2: on their list early. But if you try to call
- 5:24Speaker 2: in you know, like mid May, you're probably backed up
- 5:26Speaker 2: at that point. Safety first, Safety first, all right? The
- 5:30Speaker 2: Shelby index for today is a four, so our winners
- 5:32Speaker 2: should get eight correct answers, and with that we're onto
- 5:35Speaker 2: the game of trivia. Play the drop pill.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Look, I need to know what I stand to win everything?
- 5:44Speaker 1: How's that just tend to win everything?
- 5:54Speaker 2: Game on Suckers. Question one on the topic is woodsmanship.
- 5:57Speaker 2: This first great question is via Zach Karee McCall and
- 6:01Speaker 2: as always, it will be multiple choice. Hypothermia occurs when
- 6:05Speaker 2: your core body temperature drops below blank. Is it ninety
- 6:10Speaker 2: seven degrees fahrenheit ninety five, ninety three or ninety one.
- 6:17Speaker 2: For our Canadian listeners, that would be thirty six degrees celsius,
- 6:21Speaker 2: thirty five, thirty four or thirty three. Hypothermia occurs when
- 6:28Speaker 2: your core body temperature drops below blank ninety seven ninety five,
- 6:35Speaker 2: ninety three, ninety one and celsius that is thirty six,
- 6:40Speaker 2: thirty five, thirty four or thirty three. Oh yeah, ooh
- 6:47Speaker 2: you wrote down a percentage.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going for a degree.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Hypothermia occurs when core body temperature drops below ninety seven
- 6:57Speaker 2: ninety five, ninety three, ninety one. What do you think,
- 7:00Speaker 2: Corey sounds cold?
- 7:02Speaker 8: It sounds yea a hard one.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answer. Seth ninety
- 7:10Speaker 2: five degrees, Randall ninety five, Logan ninety five, Sarah ninety seven.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Coty ninety five Brody ninety three. The correct answer is
- 7:21Speaker 2: ninety five degrees room did well or thirty five degrees celsius.
- 7:27Speaker 2: At ninety five degrees, you'll experience uncontrollable shivering, slurred speech,
- 7:32Speaker 2: clumsy movements, and mild confusion. At ninety you'll stop shivering
- 7:36Speaker 2: while your vital organs begin to fail. At eighty two
- 7:40Speaker 2: you'll be unconscious with a faint pulse. And it's seventy
- 7:43Speaker 2: five you'll most likely be dead. But hypothermic patients have
- 7:47Speaker 2: been observed at tempts down to fifty five degrees.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Wo, that's crazy.
- 7:51Speaker 2: So ninety five is where it starts. Ninety is just
- 7:54Speaker 2: where your organs start to shut down. Question to the
- 7:57Speaker 2: topic is conservation. This is the name of Johnny Morris's museum,
- 8:03Speaker 2: which often just gets shortened to.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Wow, fantastic institutional.
- 8:10Speaker 2: This is the name of Johnny Morris's museum, which often
- 8:14Speaker 2: just gets shortened to Wow.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Have you been there?
- 8:18Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got a residency there, of course, exactly.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I wish I wish I did. I'd like to go
- 8:24Speaker 1: back there and spend some more time fill.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Are there any bucket list fish for you on, like
- 8:29Speaker 2: Balder's Gate or not, but I bet that's like a
- 8:36Speaker 2: common thing.
- 8:37Speaker 8: And there's a fish that you can catch in the
- 8:41Speaker 8: in the northern realms of fay Run called a knuckleheaded trout.
- 8:46Speaker 4: So that's my answer.
- 8:47Speaker 8: You haven't caught it yet, I have well that you
- 8:50Speaker 8: can't go there in Balder's Gate, but you can in
- 8:52Speaker 8: your imaginations.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Okay, thank you. This is the name of Johnny Morris's museum,
- 8:58Speaker 2: which often just gets shortened to Wow.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Randon.
- 9:02Speaker 2: What was the best part of Wow?
- 9:05Speaker 1: Oh, it's hard to say.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Have a big aquarium.
- 9:10Speaker 5: The aquarium is amazing because not only is it just
- 9:14Speaker 5: stuff in the tanks, but there's all kinds like there's
- 9:17Speaker 5: a whole wall of just presidents fishing.
- 9:19Speaker 1: There's like Jimmy.
- 9:20Speaker 5: Carter and Roslind Carter's tackle boxes stuff like that. I mean,
- 9:24Speaker 5: it's just they got a boat that belonged to Hemingway.
- 9:29Speaker 2: They got the big old like record book deer in
- 9:31Speaker 2: there as well.
- 9:31Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, a ton of big record book animals. They
- 9:35Speaker 5: have the Boon and Crockett collection. Like when you see
- 9:37Speaker 5: that famous photo of the wall from the New York
- 9:42Speaker 5: I guess it was the Museum of Natural History. Then
- 9:47Speaker 5: they just have like you did realize, Oh, there's a
- 9:50Speaker 5: weird gun room. And then you just go in there
- 9:52Speaker 5: and there's just like four dozen models.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Everybody read with a wow.
- 10:02Speaker 6: What is it?
- 10:03Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Seth says World of Wildlife,
- 10:08Speaker 2: Randall Wonders of Wildlife, Logan Wildlife of the World, Sarah
- 10:13Speaker 2: World of Wilderness, Corey, World of Wildlife, Brody World of Wildlife.
- 10:20Speaker 6: World.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Do we have a correct answer in the room. I
- 10:23Speaker 2: think it's Wonders of wild Life. He's been there.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I was afraid. I just embarrass myself.
- 10:31Speaker 2: The Wonders of Wildlife Natural Museum and Aquarium is located
- 10:35Speaker 2: in Springfield, Missouri, USA Today named it America's Best Aquarium
- 10:40Speaker 2: for a record breaking eighth time earlier this year. Their
- 10:43Speaker 2: conservation work ranges from hosting school field trips to rehabilitating
- 10:47Speaker 2: in dangered sea turtles. Question three, The topic is gear.
- 10:52Speaker 2: This company introduced their gender reveal boombox in twenty eighteen.
- 10:58Speaker 6: Wait, what's the category?
- 11:00Speaker 1: Year?
- 11:02Speaker 2: This company introduced their gender reveal boom box in twenty eighteen.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Okah, Randall, very quick.
- 11:13Speaker 5: Mean, I was choosing from between two one answer.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Have you been a customer of this company? You think Nope,
- 11:22Speaker 2: no again. Question three, The topic is geared. This company
- 11:26Speaker 2: introduced their gender reveal boombox in twenty eighteen. Sarah, do
- 11:32Speaker 2: you have this one right? I couldn't tell you. Only
- 11:36Speaker 2: Randall has any cooomboxes.
- 11:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Like the product is called boom box.
- 11:41Speaker 2: It's called the Gender Reveal Boombox. That is the name
- 11:44Speaker 2: of their product that you can go buy. Corey said
- 11:49Speaker 2: about if the Smidgen of confidence or a company that
- 11:52Speaker 2: makes a product called the boombox.
- 11:55Speaker 4: M yeah, I do too.
- 12:00Speaker 8: There's a knucklehead trout for you. That one's called Old Bidy.
- 12:03Speaker 8: I love that it's got big head.
- 12:04Speaker 4: It does. Why it's around fifty pounds.
- 12:06Speaker 1: A type head?
- 12:08Speaker 2: What what tell me about the stitches in its belly?
- 12:10Speaker 3: Oh?
- 12:11Speaker 8: I have no. It's probably just lived a long, long,
- 12:13Speaker 8: fruitful life putting up a fight.
- 12:15Speaker 5: Yeah, like a sperm whale and the Ceila can't had
- 12:18Speaker 5: a baby.
- 12:20Speaker 2: This company introduced their gender revealed boom box in twenty eighteen.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Brody in danger of starting zero for three. I don't
- 12:28Speaker 2: know how many times that's happened in meat either.
- 12:30Speaker 8: Maybe.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Yes, that's what I was going to put.
- 12:32Speaker 1: It's what you were going to put but you didn't
- 12:34Speaker 1: put it.
- 12:35Speaker 2: It's everybody ready something else? Go ahead and reveal your answer.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Seth says c Randall. Turtlebox Logan Turtlebox, Sarah Jbl, Corey Jbl,
- 12:49Speaker 2: Brody Tanner Wite correct answer is Tanner White.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Oh got, that makes one right, makes a lot of sense.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Tanner Wite used. Didn't know that was a Tanner Wite
- 13:03Speaker 2: used for a gender reveal. Started the twenty seventeen saw
- 13:07Speaker 2: mill fire that burned forty seven thousand acres in Arizona.
- 13:11Speaker 2: The Tucson area. Blaze was started by off duty Border
- 13:14Speaker 2: Patrol agent Dennis Dickey. Let's all watch the video together
- 13:18Speaker 2: to find out if he had a boy or a girl. Oh,
- 13:20Speaker 2: take it away, Phil, it's a boy.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Wow.
- 13:25Speaker 2: And the fire started the second that you see the
- 13:29Speaker 2: blue cloud like this may as well have been a
- 13:31Speaker 2: wildfire reveal. That was so quick.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:36Speaker 5: Who would have thought in a field full of dry grass.
- 13:39Speaker 4: That you had set That is insane? That happened so quick. Yeah.
- 13:42Speaker 7: So when you said boombox, I was thinking music. Can
- 13:45Speaker 7: I share a quick story about another misconception about words?
- 13:49Speaker 4: So there was a couple of years.
- 13:51Speaker 7: Ago for Christmas, my mom, I was like, ask my
- 13:53Speaker 7: mom what my dad wanted for Christmas. She's like, oh,
- 13:55Speaker 7: he wants like a fire he wants a firestick. I
- 13:58Speaker 7: was like, okay, sweet, like he loves having fire. So
- 14:00Speaker 7: I like go on Etsy and start looking up like
- 14:02Speaker 7: custom fire pokers and I find like a sick fire poker.
- 14:08Speaker 7: I like message my mom, like, YO, check out this
- 14:10Speaker 7: fire stick I got dad, and she's like, oh no,
- 14:12Speaker 7: he wanted like an Amazon firestick for TV. Oh and
- 14:16Speaker 7: so I ended up messaging the lady and.
- 14:17Speaker 4: I was like, oh, I got to return that, and
- 14:19Speaker 4: she thought that was funny.
- 14:20Speaker 6: See, I thought it.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Was the third thing. There's like a new muzzle loader
- 14:23Speaker 2: that I think shoots the fire stick. That is what
- 14:25Speaker 2: it's called him. I remembering that right something. I thought
- 14:28Speaker 2: that's called the fire stick. So there's a lot of
- 14:30Speaker 2: ways you can go with them. The fire stick.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:32Speaker 5: I couldn't figure out how you'd use a turtle box
- 14:35Speaker 5: in a gender reveal. Yeah, I mean, but I also
- 14:37Speaker 5: I didn't think Tanner was a company.
- 14:41Speaker 2: The founder is nast. Name is Tanner.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Oh, that makes a ton of sense.
- 14:46Speaker 2: A proprietary chemical question for the topic is wildlife. This
- 14:52Speaker 2: next great question is via camera in Gotto learning a lot.
- 14:55Speaker 1: What is the only.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Plant that monarch caterpillars eat?
- 15:00Speaker 1: Oh?
- 15:00Speaker 2: Come on, mm hmm, and Seth quick to answer. They
- 15:07Speaker 2: are picky. What is the only plant that monarch caterpillars eat?
- 15:14Speaker 4: Seth?
- 15:14Speaker 2: You have this one, right, yes, Rody, you have this one.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Oh yeah, this is easy one. Is it a tree?
- 15:21Speaker 4: M it's a plant.
- 15:26Speaker 2: What is the only plant that monarch caterpillars eat? I'm
- 15:31Speaker 2: trying so hard not to cheat off your I would
- 15:34Speaker 2: not so that border patrol agent. He was using Tanner
- 15:38Speaker 2: right but he was not using the official Tanner Righte
- 15:41Speaker 2: gender reveal boombox because that didn't come out until a
- 15:43Speaker 2: whole year after.
- 15:45Speaker 6: They saw that, and they're like, that's great, we need.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Man. So many of those gender revealed parties go real wrong.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, and then then they go very viral after that,
- 15:58Speaker 2: like someone hitting a baseball that they're wife through or something,
- 16:01Speaker 2: and then it just drills the wife.
- 16:02Speaker 4: And I saw one recently whereas plane flies over and
- 16:05Speaker 4: drops something to you know, reveal the gender, and then
- 16:08Speaker 4: the plane crashes.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Oh no, yeah, that's about his worst. That's the worst
- 16:14Speaker 2: case scenario. I think we have a gender reveals a
- 16:16Speaker 2: plane crashes. We waited as long as possible to find
- 16:20Speaker 2: out what gender are son? Does that mean the baby
- 16:23Speaker 2: was born? Yep, okay, as long as you can go again.
- 16:26Speaker 2: What is the only plant that monarch caterpillars? Brody and
- 16:33Speaker 2: Seth have this one or other? Four players are stumped.
- 16:36Speaker 1: I have this somewhere in my head, but I'm not
- 16:38Speaker 1: going to get it.
- 16:39Speaker 3: I feel like I learned this in like third grade
- 16:42Speaker 3: and it's just gone.
- 16:44Speaker 7: I'm trying to think of all the children's books I've
- 16:46Speaker 7: read over my lifetime, and if there's any clues in there.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Well, I feel like this thing that like gets talked
- 16:54Speaker 2: about is like when Brody was a kid, did they
- 16:57Speaker 2: talk about acid rain all the time? Yeah, and then
- 17:01Speaker 2: like I don't know, by the.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Time about the Communists a lot too, by the time.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Like, your son's probably never heard those two words acid rain, right, probably,
- 17:10Speaker 2: But I bet he's learned this. This is like that
- 17:12Speaker 2: version that you didn't learn when you were a kid,
- 17:14Speaker 2: but now it's being talked to. Is everybody ready to
- 17:21Speaker 2: go ahead and reveal your answers? Seth Milkweed Randall without
- 17:26Speaker 2: an answer, Logan says Leaf Sarah she remembered it milkweed,
- 17:30Speaker 2: Corey maple tree, Brody milkweed. The correct answer is milkweed.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Monarch's populations have declined by eighty five percent in the
- 17:39Speaker 2: last forty years. One of the primary reasons it's due
- 17:42Speaker 2: to habitat loss. The Upper Midwest has lost the most
- 17:45Speaker 2: acres of milkweed, specifically Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois. The National
- 17:50Speaker 2: Wildlife Federation says the best thing you can do to
- 17:53Speaker 2: help monarchs is to plant milkweed in your yard. Question five,
- 17:57Speaker 2: the topic is fishing.
- 17:58Speaker 1: This is a wild episod.
- 18:00Speaker 2: So in what state is flaming gorge? Dam In what
- 18:08Speaker 2: state is flaming gorge damn? Brodie and Randall quick to answer.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Sarah and Corey think they maybe know it, and they
- 18:17Speaker 2: are deciding between a few states. And Seth just gasped
- 18:21Speaker 2: when he saw the question. In what state is flaming gorge?
- 18:25Speaker 1: Damn?
- 18:27Speaker 2: We'll get a scoreboard update from build the engineer after this.
- 18:32Speaker 4: Yep, this took me a second.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Driven over he's been there.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, there's a hint when we're there a couple
- 18:40Speaker 2: of years ago.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Man, I'm torn, I don't know.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Maybe in what state is Flaming Gorge damn Randall is
- 18:57Speaker 2: now waffling after putting down his wife. Immediately it's doing
- 19:01Speaker 2: some crossing out and writing. We're sticking with answer one
- 19:04Speaker 2: or answer to Randall.
- 19:07Speaker 4: I don't know, you might be on the three.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Oh wow, no, no, oh god. Microphone smell.
- 19:19Speaker 2: That was his microphone this morning in news. So it
- 19:21Speaker 2: smells like Randall.
- 19:23Speaker 1: I'll go with it.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Where's my mic smells like Steve?
- 19:27Speaker 1: Is everybody ready? Yeah?
- 19:29Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Seth says California, Randall Wyoming, Logan, California, Sarah,
- 19:38Speaker 2: West Virginia, Cordy, Wyoming, Brody Utah. The correct answer.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Is Utah.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Brody got that one right. You guys were close though.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Flaming Gorge Dam is located thirty miles south of the
- 19:55Speaker 2: Wyoming border on the Green River. The stretch of water
- 19:58Speaker 2: below the dam is a blue ribbon stream that's considered
- 20:02Speaker 2: one of the best trout fisheries in the Western United States,
- 20:05Speaker 2: and Flaming Gorge Reservoir above the dam has produced multiple
- 20:08Speaker 2: state and world records. And I think Flaming Gorge Reservoir
- 20:12Speaker 2: goes all the way into Wyoming.
- 20:13Speaker 6: So to say we used to go fish it and
- 20:15Speaker 6: we'd stay at a place called the Flaming Gorge Lodge.
- 20:18Speaker 6: And we called it the Flaming Gouge Lodge because they
- 20:21Speaker 6: really got you.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Oh, were you fishing below or above below? And how
- 20:26Speaker 2: was it as good as what they say?
- 20:28Speaker 6: It's good. It's a western tailwater, so it's always almost
- 20:32Speaker 6: always crowded. We would hit it in like April or
- 20:34Speaker 6: October in the off season, but there's still a lot
- 20:37Speaker 6: of boats. There's three sections.
- 20:39Speaker 4: There's the A, B and C.
- 20:41Speaker 6: A is very crowded. It so the first like seven
- 20:44Speaker 6: miles below the dam.
- 20:45Speaker 2: I think that's where they call it the aquarium is located.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:48Speaker 6: You throw doritos in the water and the trout to
- 20:50Speaker 6: eat them.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:51Speaker 6: And then like the B sections more remote sea section
- 20:54Speaker 6: is a barrier remote and down at the end of
- 20:56Speaker 6: the sea section is where Butch Cassidy where the cabin is.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Okay, Flaming Gorge damn in Utah, Phil, we're halfway through
- 21:05Speaker 2: today's game. Give us a scoreboard update.
- 21:09Speaker 8: Sure at halftime, Logan, Sarah and Corey. I'll have one
- 21:13Speaker 8: point a piece. Seth has two coming up next. Randall
- 21:17Speaker 8: got the first two questions correct, which Brody missed. He
- 21:20Speaker 8: has two points, but then Brody pulled ahead because he
- 21:22Speaker 8: got the next three questions correct and Randal did not.
- 21:25Speaker 8: So in first place is Brodie Henderson with three points.
- 21:28Speaker 8: Thanks for that, Phil, You know, I try to spice
- 21:30Speaker 8: it up a little bit with some color commentary.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Breakdown, man off round. I thought that last one was
- 21:37Speaker 1: a trick question, and so what did you have?
- 21:42Speaker 5: I had Utah? And that's you passed that when you
- 21:45Speaker 5: drive past? Yeah, because I knew it was right on
- 21:49Speaker 5: the border, and so it was what stayed is the
- 21:51Speaker 5: dam in sure? And I associate flaming gorge with utah.
- 21:55Speaker 5: But I was thinking it was a trick question, and
- 21:56Speaker 5: I remembered seeing a damn when we drove past. Anyways,
- 22:02Speaker 5: it's water under the bridge, now.
- 22:05Speaker 4: Under the damn.
- 22:05Speaker 5: All we can do is just try to win the
- 22:07Speaker 5: next five questions.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Question six, The topic is cooking. This brand made the
- 22:15Speaker 2: world's first kettle grill in the nineteen fifties by placing
- 22:18Speaker 2: legs on a metal booie. This brand made the world's
- 22:25Speaker 2: first kettle grill in the nineteen fifties by placing legs
- 22:29Speaker 2: on a metal booiet Girl Randall is this a good
- 22:34Speaker 2: start for the second five?
- 22:36Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Okay, only set this whiteboard down and Sarah, I guess.
- 22:43Speaker 2: I guess, Sarah, do you have this one right? You
- 22:44Speaker 2: think I have a good shout at it?
- 22:46Speaker 1: Okay.
- 22:47Speaker 2: This brand made the world's first kettle grill in the
- 22:50Speaker 2: nineteen fifties by placing legs on a metal booie. Corey,
- 22:56Speaker 2: do you have this one right?
- 22:57Speaker 4: Doubtful?
- 22:58Speaker 1: Come on, man, I'm feeling confident that I got it wrong.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Cool was locking in.
- 23:05Speaker 1: His answer.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Question six A low scoring game so far?
- 23:10Speaker 6: Stay, what was the index today?
- 23:12Speaker 2: Four? So Brody needs to get these next five right.
- 23:15Speaker 2: To get that eight, I would have to google what
- 23:19Speaker 2: the hell kettle girl is? Honestly, Okay, Sarah's given some
- 23:23Speaker 2: help there with some hand gesture.
- 23:25Speaker 6: Done, I'm done, dun.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers? Zet,
- 23:33Speaker 2: says Weber. Randal Weber logan pitmaster, Sarah Weber, Corey Coleman,
- 23:40Speaker 2: Brody Weber. The correct answer is Weber. George Stephen, the
- 23:46Speaker 2: Weber grill inventor, got the idea after having his stakes
- 23:49Speaker 2: go up in flames on a brick barbecue he worked
- 23:53Speaker 2: at Weber Brothers Medal, where his job was to weld
- 23:56Speaker 2: half spheres together to form booies. One day he took
- 23:59Speaker 2: one of the those half spears, put legs on it,
- 24:02Speaker 2: drilled holes in the bottom, and gave it a lid.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Thus the Weber kettle grill was born. So when you're
- 24:08Speaker 2: cooking on a Weber charcoal grill, you're cooking on what
- 24:10Speaker 2: used to be a booie. Question seven, the topic is conservation.
- 24:15Speaker 2: This next great question is via Corey Bettencourt. A tourist
- 24:20Speaker 2: was charged with two misdemeanors in May after throwing a
- 24:23Speaker 2: rock at an endangered Hawaiian blank seal Brodian Randall and
- 24:33Speaker 2: Seth and Corey and Sarah all quick to answer, we're
- 24:36Speaker 2: waiting on you, low and you got your answer yet.
- 24:38Speaker 4: No.
- 24:40Speaker 2: A tourist was charged with two misdemeanors in Many after
- 24:45Speaker 2: throwing a rock at an endangered Hawaiian blank.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Seal spencer on this can I got check you? How
- 24:53Speaker 1: could I got check you?
- 24:58Speaker 4: Yes?
- 24:59Speaker 2: Yeah, you gut Your gut is correct. It doesn't seem
- 25:02Speaker 2: like those microphone whispers are going to help logan at all.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Maybe a listener at home.
- 25:08Speaker 7: No, yeah, I mean I don't think I got this right.
- 25:11Speaker 2: So the biggest conservation. Have you seen the video logan?
- 25:14Speaker 2: Are you familiar with this story at all? Okay, well,
- 25:15Speaker 2: we'll show it to you after this. A tourist was
- 25:18Speaker 2: charged to watch the mystic in May after throwing a
- 25:22Speaker 2: rock at an endangered Hawaiian blank.
- 25:25Speaker 4: You can see her.
- 25:29Speaker 1: It's everybody ready, I actually haven't watched the video.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Seth says Monk Randall
- 25:37Speaker 2: monk logan for Sarah Elephant, Cory monk, Brodie monk. The
- 25:43Speaker 2: correct answer is monk a Hawaiian monk seal. There are
- 25:48Speaker 2: fewer than two thousand Hawaiian monk seals left in the world.
- 25:52Speaker 4: They have been on the.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Endangered Species list since nineteen seventy six. The Washington man
- 25:57Speaker 2: who threw the rock pleaded not guilty to multiple federal charges,
- 26:00Speaker 2: despite the whole thing being caught on film. His lawyer
- 26:03Speaker 2: argued that he threw the rock to spook the seal
- 26:06Speaker 2: to protect nearby sea turtles. When confronted about it at
- 26:10Speaker 2: the beach, the man told onlookers, quote, I'm rich enough
- 26:13Speaker 2: to pay any fine.
- 26:14Speaker 4: Here.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Is that video even more big rock?
- 26:19Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 26:19Speaker 2: That I mean, that's borderline boulder that he threw it.
- 26:22Speaker 1: That thing.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Let's see it one more time, Phil.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Oh, goodness, hold on, this is tricky. We've asked too much.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Now.
- 26:30Speaker 4: I'm not sorry.
- 26:33Speaker 6: I'm not defending what that guy did in a way,
- 26:36Speaker 6: but they I think they have some problems with these things,
- 26:39Speaker 6: like being very aggressive with people and whai.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Well, he is now in court about the whole thing,
- 26:46Speaker 2: and I think he's facing enough money a two year
- 26:49Speaker 2: sentence and one hundred and seventy thousand dollars or the
- 26:52Speaker 2: max fines and the sentence.
- 26:54Speaker 1: That he could get. It seems like a real, real
- 26:57Speaker 1: dem seemed like he hit the seal.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Now he missed.
- 27:02Speaker 6: Well, there's murder and there's attempted murder.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Question eight, The topic is hunting. Some versions of this
- 27:11Speaker 2: fictional character's backstory say he became an outlaw after poaching
- 27:16Speaker 2: a deer in Sherwood Forest. What Sarah Randall Brodie already
- 27:26Speaker 2: have their answers. Some versions of this fictional character's backstory
- 27:30Speaker 2: say he became an outlaw after poaching a deer in
- 27:34Speaker 2: Sherwood Fork.
- 27:35Speaker 6: You believe it's taken like five years to get to
- 27:37Speaker 6: this question. Now that you think about it. How many
- 27:42Speaker 6: years has.
- 27:42Speaker 2: It been, Spencer, I think since twenty one or twenty two.
- 27:47Speaker 2: I think twenty one probably it would be five years
- 27:49Speaker 2: into this thing.
- 27:50Speaker 1: There's a new flick coming out.
- 27:52Speaker 6: Real, Oh that's easy. That's a little head there.
- 27:55Speaker 5: Honestly, if you can't get this, but you're up on
- 27:58Speaker 5: your right YouTube trailers.
- 28:00Speaker 6: Right, Yeah, that didn't help at all.
- 28:03Speaker 2: You know kids these days, Randall, I'm not familiar with
- 28:07Speaker 2: the flick. You have to tell me more about it later.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Some versions of this fictional character's backstory say he became
- 28:13Speaker 2: an out long after poaching a deer in Sherwood Forest.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Fictional character, yep, Corey, Do you have this one right?
- 28:21Speaker 1: I hope? So?
- 28:21Speaker 2: Okay, is this a fictional character you've covered with your son, Marshall?
- 28:26Speaker 8: Sure, if it's.
- 28:28Speaker 2: If it's the correct answer, I don't know what I
- 28:31Speaker 2: have written down. Yes, Seth can't come up with any
- 28:34Speaker 2: fictional character now. He is just thought of one.
- 28:37Speaker 1: I bet he could come up with a fictional character.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Logan, are you coming up with a fictional character down there? Okay,
- 28:44Speaker 2: we'll be entertained. Go ahead and reveal your answers, Seth, says,
- 28:49Speaker 2: Robin Hood Randall, says Robin Hood. Logan Johnny A, Sarah,
- 28:57Speaker 2: Robin Hood, Cory Robin Hood, Brody Robin Hood. The correct
- 29:00Speaker 2: answer is Robin Hood. In Robin Hood's Progress to Nottingham,
- 29:06Speaker 2: a teenage Robin is walking through the woods when he
- 29:09Speaker 2: encounters fifteen royal foresters. They insult Robin, telling him he's
- 29:13Speaker 2: too weak to draw his boat. Robin bets them that
- 29:16Speaker 2: he's able to kill a stag standing one hundred yards away,
- 29:19Speaker 2: and then he actually does it. The royal foresters threatened
- 29:22Speaker 2: to cut off Robin's ears, saying that all deer in
- 29:25Speaker 2: Sherwood Forest belonged to the king. A fight then ensues
- 29:28Speaker 2: and it ends with Robin killing all fifteen foresters. This
- 29:32Speaker 2: leads to him fleeing into the forest and spending the
- 29:34Speaker 2: rest of his life as an outlaw. They didn't cover that. Stem. Yeah,
- 29:40Speaker 2: very impressive though, that he's killed all fifteen foresters. That
- 29:43Speaker 2: was just a guy like Seth out there working for
- 29:45Speaker 2: the Royal Forestry departments. And then he gets gunned down
- 29:50Speaker 2: guys like said by fifteen year old Robin. All right,
- 29:54Speaker 2: we have two questions left. Phil Scoreboard updates.
- 29:57Speaker 6: Oh, Hugh Jackman's doing a Robin Hood.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Yeah, tell me that's what it's old Robin Hood.
- 30:02Speaker 5: Yeah, like gritty, like I think in training a young protege.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Yeah, Phil, did you love the Robin Hood movie that wasn't.
- 30:12Speaker 8: In my heavy rotation?
- 30:14Speaker 1: What Rob the Men in Tights? I love that?
- 30:18Speaker 4: Yeah, that's good.
- 30:19Speaker 5: Prince of Thieves Costner, Oh yeah, Morgan, Oh my god.
- 30:25Speaker 2: The Men in Tights version.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I did like Men and Tites.
- 30:28Speaker 5: But Prince of Thieves is just a movie that no
- 30:31Speaker 5: one talks about enough.
- 30:33Speaker 2: You're right, Phil, scoreboards.
- 30:36Speaker 4: Logan's hanging on with the points.
- 30:37Speaker 8: We've got Sarah and Corey with three, Seth and randall
- 30:40Speaker 8: have five and still in first place, where he's hanging
- 30:43Speaker 8: on with six points.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Robin Hood was doing the thing that Steve talked about
- 30:48Speaker 2: on the news show this week, which is just being
- 30:50Speaker 2: like a hunting and fishing outlaw, you know, and.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Then killing fifteen people.
- 30:57Speaker 2: That all came dear really because because they threatened to
- 31:02Speaker 2: cut off his ears. All right, we're onto question nine.
- 31:06Speaker 2: The topic is woodsmanship. This next great question is via
- 31:09Speaker 2: Christopher Blair. This is the highest number a storm can
- 31:14Speaker 2: achieve on the Safir Simpson Hurricane scale and enhanced Fujita
- 31:19Speaker 2: Tornado scale.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Question nine, Woodsmanship.
- 31:27Speaker 2: This is the highest number a storm can achieve on
- 31:30Speaker 2: the Safir Simpson Hurricane scale and Enhanced Fujita Tornado scale. Brody,
- 31:40Speaker 2: do you like your answer?
- 31:42Speaker 4: I do.
- 31:43Speaker 2: He's got a one point lead these last two questions.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Randall doesn't really love his answer.
- 31:55Speaker 5: If you'd asked me this question, I wouldn't have said
- 31:59Speaker 5: I would have. You've had two different answers for this scale.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Okay, so you're choosing between two. Yeah, did you go
- 32:04Speaker 2: with what you thought the hurricane would be or the
- 32:06Speaker 2: tornado would be?
- 32:08Speaker 1: I think the hurricane. Okay.
- 32:10Speaker 2: This is the highest number a storm can achieve on
- 32:12Speaker 2: the hurricane scale and tornado scale. That is the Safir
- 32:17Speaker 2: Simpson Hurricane scale and the Enhanced Fujita Tornado scale. Is
- 32:23Speaker 2: everybody ready, Oh it's the enhanced version. Yes, that hasn't
- 32:28Speaker 2: changed my answer. Go ahead and reveal your answers. Set
- 32:32Speaker 2: says five, Randall six, Logan ten, Sarah five, Cody five,
- 32:38Speaker 2: Brody five. The correct answer is five. The room did well.
- 32:45Speaker 2: A Category five hurricane has wind speeds greater than one
- 32:48Speaker 2: hundred and fifty seven miles per hour, and EF five
- 32:51Speaker 2: tornado has wind speeds greater than.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Two hundred miles per hour.
- 32:55Speaker 2: The enhanced Fujita scale replaced the Fujita scale, which labeled
- 32:59Speaker 2: F fives is having wind speeds between two hundred and
- 33:02Speaker 2: sixty one and three hundred eighteen miles per hour. This
- 33:06Speaker 2: left for the possibility of having an F six tornado,
- 33:09Speaker 2: and twice the scale's creator gave out that rating, but
- 33:13Speaker 2: in both cases the twisters were downgraded to F five's
- 33:16Speaker 2: after further studies. Those tornadoes happened in Texas in nineteen
- 33:20Speaker 2: seventy and Ohio in nineteen seventy four. Here is a
- 33:25Speaker 2: picture of the nineteen seventy four tornado that touched down
- 33:28Speaker 2: east of Dayton. Again, it was originally called an F
- 33:31Speaker 2: six by the scale's creator, but they later changed it
- 33:35Speaker 2: to an F five.
- 33:35Speaker 6: So I feel like you're giving Randal some room to argue.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Not because I said the enhanced The.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Enhanced scale is in fact a diminished scale.
- 33:44Speaker 2: It's capped now nothing above A five.
- 33:47Speaker 1: So it's enhanced by having fewer options.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Yes, yes, you could say that means more.
- 33:52Speaker 1: It seems to me.
- 33:54Speaker 6: Of the original Schwister.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Movie RAND four. Yeah, I mean it never really did
- 33:59Speaker 1: a ton for me.
- 34:00Speaker 4: Oh, it's a great flick.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Huh.
- 34:01Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it's interesting, but it's I don't know. Oh,
- 34:05Speaker 5: I haven't seen the new one.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Do you see the new one?
- 34:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it's cheesy, but still if you like tornadoes, it's
- 34:11Speaker 3: worth watching.
- 34:12Speaker 4: Randon.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Were you familiar with whatever this tornado is from nineteen
- 34:15Speaker 2: seventy five?
- 34:16Speaker 1: No?
- 34:17Speaker 5: No, we had a big tornado when I was like
- 34:19Speaker 5: in elementary school, junior high that touched down pretty near
- 34:24Speaker 5: our house. Well, there's a lot of damage in Blue
- 34:27Speaker 5: Ash Okay. I think Sycamore High School might have been damaged.
- 34:31Speaker 5: I can't say for sure, but we drove over to
- 34:32Speaker 5: look at the damage.
- 34:33Speaker 2: When I was like six years old and F five
- 34:36Speaker 2: went through Spencer, South Dakota. You know, it was very
- 34:39Speaker 2: fun when you're a Spencer in South Dakota who lives
- 34:42Speaker 2: thirty miles from the town that the tornado destroyed.
- 34:45Speaker 1: If there had been social media.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Back check, oh yeah, the same thing.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I could have sworn that.
- 34:51Speaker 5: I've heard of like a category six hurricane, maybe on
- 34:55Speaker 5: a different scale, but probably not the one that everyone uses.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Probably not, I just whole scale.
- 35:01Speaker 2: All right, here's the correct answer review so far one
- 35:04Speaker 2: with ninety five degrees fahrenheit or thirty five degrees celsius two,
- 35:09Speaker 2: Wonders of Wildlife three, Tannerite four, milkweed five, Utah six
- 35:15Speaker 2: Weber seven, monk Seal eight, Robinhood nine five Phil score Ward.
- 35:22Speaker 8: Update just got slightly more interesting because Seth has pulled
- 35:25Speaker 8: ahead of Randall and now the game is between Brody
- 35:28Speaker 8: and Seth. Brody has seven, Seth has six.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Here's question ten. The topic is foraging. This is our
- 35:34Speaker 2: listener question of the Week, which was won by Dan
- 35:37Speaker 2: Patterson for sending this great question. Dan is going to
- 35:40Speaker 2: get a one hundred and fifty dollars First Light gift card.
- 35:42Speaker 2: If you want a chance to win the Listener Question
- 35:44Speaker 2: of the Week, then send your question to Trivia at
- 35:46Speaker 2: the meat Eater dot com. This seven letter word that's
- 35:50Speaker 2: often associated with blackberries and raspberries is defined as quote
- 35:56Speaker 2: a rough bush or vine that usually has sharp thorne.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Urns.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Sarah and Randall have their answers. This seven letter word
- 36:07Speaker 2: that's often associated with blackberries and raspberries is defined as
- 36:13Speaker 2: a rough bush or vine that usually has sharp thorns.
- 36:18Speaker 1: So there is I'm not debating this, but.
- 36:23Speaker 5: It's The National Hurricane Center hasn't officially adopted it, but
- 36:27Speaker 5: a category six hurricane is possible. Several storms have already
- 36:31Speaker 5: reached these wind speeds that exceed.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Whatever it is.
- 36:36Speaker 5: Okay, and so there's some debate in the hurricane community
- 36:40Speaker 5: about this because category six level wind speeds are becoming
- 36:44Speaker 5: more common.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Okay, maybe someday we'll ask this question again in a decade, Randall.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not debating it.
- 36:50Speaker 5: I just again, you're just trying to enlighten us. Yeah,
- 36:54Speaker 5: I'm fascinated by it. Right, it's a theoretical rating.
- 36:57Speaker 2: We would need Brody to get this one wrong and
- 37:00Speaker 2: Seth to get it right to go to overtime. Both
