Latest / Hawk Talk / Recapping Week 5: Seahawks vs. Buccaneers
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Now here's your host, NASA Chobee. Welcome into another edition
- 0:12Speaker 2: of Hawk Talk.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Unfortunately, the Seahawks follow the Buccaneers bump thirty eight to
- 0:17Speaker 1: thirty five and a thriller at Lumenfield. Now, I'll speak
- 0:21Speaker 1: for myself and probably a lot of other people in
- 0:22Speaker 1: this region. You probably didn't have a shootout on your Bengo.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Car for I did at a twenty one sixteen. I
- 0:28Speaker 3: think was my score prediction pretty safe.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I mean, you came in there with two of the
- 0:32Speaker 1: league's best defenses, and you know how good they were
- 0:34Speaker 1: against the run. They were not allowing a ten yards
- 0:36Speaker 1: And this is a game that two quarterbacks just absolutely
- 0:40Speaker 1: balled out and unfortunately, heartbreaker for the Seahawks. They played
- 0:43Speaker 1: well enough to win the football game. Unfortunately did not
- 0:45Speaker 1: make enough plays down the stretch. But we will jump
- 0:47Speaker 1: right into it.
- 0:48Speaker 3: What had happened, See what happened was what had happened
- 0:53Speaker 3: at first was what happened was on Hawk Talk.
- 0:57Speaker 2: This game featured to the NFL's best defenses.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Like I just said, and bump the offenses Holy smoked
- 1:02Speaker 1: seventy three combined points, eight hundred and eighty nine combined
- 1:05Speaker 1: yards combined for thirteen of twenty on third downs five
- 1:08Speaker 1: consecutive touchdowns in the second half. The Seahawks were unable
- 1:12Speaker 1: to make enough plays against this team. But again I
- 1:14Speaker 1: was shocked with by what happened. Injuries played a factor
- 1:17Speaker 1: on both sides. Both both secondaries for both teams were
- 1:21Speaker 1: dinged up, So that's definitely a factor in this game.
- 1:23Speaker 1: But yeah, game definitely didn't go the way the Seahawks
- 1:26Speaker 1: thought it would. Buccaneers kicked off the scoring with eleven
- 1:28Speaker 1: play sixty eight yard drive that had to settle for
- 1:30Speaker 1: a field goal. The Hawks would respond to the drive
- 1:32Speaker 1: of their own, but it stalled out insult to injury,
- 1:35Speaker 1: Jason Myers missus a forty four yard field goal. The
- 1:38Speaker 1: Bucks would add another field goal in the following drive,
- 1:40Speaker 1: taking the six to zero lead.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Yeah, both teams would punt.
- 1:43Speaker 3: The disaster struck for the Seahawks as Jalen Milroll entered
- 1:46Speaker 3: the game and they were moving too. The office was
- 1:48Speaker 3: moving and the seas would run an option play to
- 1:50Speaker 3: the Tampa Bay sideline. Millroll pitched it a little high
- 1:53Speaker 3: and behind ken Walker and the Bucks would jump on
- 1:56Speaker 3: that fumble. They would take advantage, finding the Enzel seven
- 1:59Speaker 3: plays later, seven yard run touchdown by Rashad White that
- 2:02Speaker 3: made the score thirteen to zero. So now you gotta
- 2:06Speaker 3: do something, you gotta do something. The Seahawks offense would
- 2:08Speaker 3: finally come alive the next drive, going ten plays fifty
- 2:11Speaker 3: four yards with a six yard touchdowns to Jaysim make
- 2:14Speaker 3: it a score thirteen to seven.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Going to have something. You're feeling good.
- 2:17Speaker 3: You put a drive together which was a dart of
- 2:19Speaker 3: a throat to jasm and you're getting the full ball back.
- 2:22Speaker 4: So you feel a bit better about the situation.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, the first couple drives didn't go the
- 2:26Speaker 1: Seahawks way, but after that you okay, we've seen this before.
- 2:29Speaker 1: We've seen this story play out seam Donald. As the
- 2:31Speaker 1: end of the half, they get the ball back and
- 2:32Speaker 1: things continue to go well right off in the third quarter,
- 2:35Speaker 1: going straight down the field, ending with a five yard
- 2:37Speaker 1: touchdown run by Zach Sharberney that put the Seahawks up
- 2:40Speaker 1: fourteen to thirteen. Derek Young had a huge thirty six
- 2:42Speaker 1: yard reception.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Oh yeah, big boy.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Ken Walker had a nice run on that drive as well.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Seahawks took the lead and then the Bucks they answer
- 2:50Speaker 1: right away. They go seven plays, ending the touchdown to
- 2:52Speaker 1: Mecca Buka. The still come high school grad was a
- 2:56Speaker 1: problem for the Seahawks on Sunday, without question.
- 2:59Speaker 3: That made the score twenty one to fourteen. Yep, when
- 3:01Speaker 3: the Hawks come right back. This is the back and
- 3:03Speaker 3: forth I was going up right. It was going back
- 3:05Speaker 3: and forth and back and forth. This time they won
- 3:07Speaker 3: six plays eighty yards and in a two yard touchdown
- 3:09Speaker 3: pass to aj Barner which tie things up at twenty one.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Jsam had another long reception fifty three yards right up
- 3:16Speaker 3: the scene. It was beautiful at this point in the game.
- 3:18Speaker 3: I think everyone knew this was about to be a shootout.
- 3:21Speaker 3: If I were just a casual fan with no interest
- 3:24Speaker 3: in this game, oh yeah, I would have loved it.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I appreciate offense, for sure, but this back and forth
- 3:29Speaker 3: was was stressful as heck.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I mean I love offense. I'm a defensive guy.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I went to mine. You know, A couple stops mixed
- 3:36Speaker 1: in there, but it was what it was. And the
- 3:39Speaker 1: Bucks they go again. They march down the field. Baker
- 3:41Speaker 1: Mayfield fans Abuka again, this time on a fifty seven
- 3:44Speaker 1: yard pass on thirty and thirteen.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Backbreaker for the Seahawks.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Rashad White finds the azone one play later and the
- 3:49Speaker 1: Bucks would regaining the lead. But again the Hawks all
- 3:52Speaker 1: day long, one person answers, they continue to answer the bell.
- 3:55Speaker 1: On the ensuing possession, Dareik Young again another great kickoff
- 3:58Speaker 1: return fifty yards, then should go ten plays fifty one yards,
- 4:01Speaker 1: ending with a six yard touchdown to a j Barner.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Tied things up at twenty eight and will break that
- 4:05Speaker 1: play down a little bit later.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Yep.
- 4:07Speaker 3: The Hawks would then get a major stop on the
- 4:09Speaker 3: next possession, setting up the longest drive of the season.
- 4:13Speaker 3: They go any longer, man this as long as it
- 4:15Speaker 3: gets all right, So their pinback on the one should
- 4:18Speaker 3: have been delayed game on the punt. That's why coach
- 4:20Speaker 3: McDonald was going crazy. I ain't mad at your coach,
- 4:23Speaker 3: but donodd engineering eight played ninety nine yard drive culminating
- 4:26Speaker 3: with a twenty one yard touchdown reception by Tory Horden,
- 4:29Speaker 3: which he was getting loose. Sam had to make some
- 4:31Speaker 3: plays happen on that one. I think we're gonna break
- 4:32Speaker 3: that down as well. That gave them the league thirty
- 4:35Speaker 3: five to twenty eight with three minutes and eighteen seconds
- 4:38Speaker 3: left in the ball games in the ball game, but
- 4:41Speaker 3: the bucks Man gets responding five play seventy yards Baker
- 4:44Speaker 3: Mayfield strolling sharp, scrambling, getting loose in the back of
- 4:47Speaker 3: the end zone eleven yard touchdown. That noodded everything up
- 4:50Speaker 3: at thirty five with a minute and eight seconds left.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Yeah, we three eighteen before that drive, I was feeling
- 4:55Speaker 1: pretty good. I'm saying, Okay, there's a chance of Seahawks
- 4:57Speaker 1: will get another stop because they got to stop the
- 4:59Speaker 1: drive before fourhand. Obviously, things didn't go their ways tied up,
- 5:02Speaker 1: But at no point was that nervous with the way
- 5:05Speaker 1: this team. They had scored on five consecutive drives, five touchdowns. Furthermore,
- 5:09Speaker 1: they're getting the ball with one away in this day's NFL.
- 5:12Speaker 1: In that situation, it's harder on the defense because all
- 5:15Speaker 1: you gotta do is complete two or three passes. Kickers
- 5:17Speaker 1: are now making fifty sixty yards like this nothing, So
- 5:20Speaker 1: I was I was not concerned in any way. I
- 5:22Speaker 1: think the stadium felt the exact same way. Unfortunately, it
- 5:25Speaker 1: just didn't go to the Seahawks way. Two plays later,
- 5:28Speaker 1: Sam Darnold's passed to go off somebody's helmet intercepted.
- 5:31Speaker 2: By Avontae David and that was it.
- 5:33Speaker 1: The Buccaneers ready in Seahawks territory in field goal range.
- 5:36Speaker 1: When they got the ball lead out the clock, they
- 5:38Speaker 1: would kick the game winning field goal to go on
- 5:40Speaker 1: and win as time expired. Thirty eight thirty five. Such
- 5:43Speaker 1: a bummer. And we'll talk about Sam even more because
- 5:45Speaker 1: he played his you know what off yesterday and in
- 5:48Speaker 1: no way did he cost them the game. And there's
- 5:50Speaker 1: some ridiculous conversation out there. Honestly, Bump correct me if
- 5:54Speaker 1: I'm wrong since you've been doing this cover in the Seahawks.
- 5:57Speaker 1: That was one of the best quarterback play games sides
- 6:00Speaker 1: that I think we've seen.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Yeah, best I've seen.
- 6:03Speaker 3: The calmness, the composure, the decision making, the playmaking on
- 6:07Speaker 3: the other side to Cooper, Cup had himself a game,
- 6:09Speaker 3: Jayson had himself a game.
- 6:10Speaker 4: But no, there was a calm.
- 6:12Speaker 3: It's like a I went to Shelane this summer for
- 6:15Speaker 3: the first time. Big up Slann, love me. Wow, I
- 6:18Speaker 3: haven't been in Shellanne. Come on, but it was early
- 6:20Speaker 3: in the morning. I'm sitting there at the lake with
- 6:22Speaker 3: a cup of coffee and the waters are just calm.
- 6:24Speaker 3: It's like glass out there. That's the way I've used
- 6:26Speaker 3: Sam Donald in any situations. I totally expected him to
- 6:30Speaker 3: come up with a victory.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's unfortunate.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I hope this is the one the Seahawks are kicking
- 6:34Speaker 1: themselves at the end of the season. I mean, like
- 6:37Speaker 1: I said, one point you score in five straight possessions.
- 6:39Speaker 1: The Hawks outgained the Bucks, but again those two turnovers,
- 6:42Speaker 1: struggling third downs, defensively, good team, it's unfortunate. I mentioned earlier,
- 6:47Speaker 1: big issues in the secondary. What I mean by that
- 6:49Speaker 1: is Julian Love, Devin Witherspoon. They're really good players for
- 6:51Speaker 1: a reason, the Pro Bowlers, they're elite level players. When
- 6:54Speaker 1: they're not in the field, you're gonna feel it. DeMarcus
- 6:56Speaker 1: Lawrence was also out as well, So Bump, I'll end
- 6:58Speaker 1: with this for this part of the sh What we
- 7:00Speaker 1: learned come in out of Sunday. A lot of good,
- 7:03Speaker 1: some things are correct, But what do you think you learned?
- 7:05Speaker 2: Most?
- 7:05Speaker 3: We learned that Sam dealt you can trust Sam Donald.
- 7:09Speaker 3: If we're still asking that question, then I think we're
- 7:12Speaker 3: not paying attention to what we're seeing. Two, I think
- 7:14Speaker 3: we learned that it's hard to beat teams in this
- 7:17Speaker 3: league when you don't.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Have all your dogs. And they didn't have all their
- 7:20Speaker 4: dogs either.
- 7:20Speaker 3: You know, Mike Evans was out, Bucky was out, that
- 7:23Speaker 3: had a dB that was out as well. But I
- 7:25Speaker 3: also think we learned that you have to take care
- 7:28Speaker 3: of the little things in this league because every team
- 7:31Speaker 3: is good. We knew the Bucks were good coming into
- 7:32Speaker 3: there's no question about that. But when it comes down
- 7:35Speaker 3: to it, it's the things that happened in the first
- 7:38Speaker 3: that can affect the fourth and everything in between. So
- 7:40Speaker 3: it's play by play, But my biggest takeaway I trust
- 7:44Speaker 3: Sam Donald. He can take care of my Kisy can
- 7:45Speaker 3: babysit if he wants to. I'm good, Hey, no for me.
- 7:49Speaker 2: This team's resilient.
- 7:50Speaker 1: I like how they fought even you know, when things
- 7:52Speaker 1: aren't always going their way. The defense struggled. They got
- 7:55Speaker 1: a big stop late, unfortunately it wasn't enough getting off
- 7:57Speaker 1: the field and third down was a big issue. And again,
- 7:59Speaker 1: I think this team gets healthy, they're gonna be in
- 8:01Speaker 1: great shape and if anything, they're gonna learn a lot
- 8:03Speaker 1: from this game. You gotta play well, and you gotta
- 8:06Speaker 1: play four quarters in the National Football League, especially against
- 8:08Speaker 1: a really good team. This loss, I think at the
- 8:10Speaker 1: end of the year is gonna look pretty good because
- 8:12Speaker 1: I feel like Baker Mayfield is gonna stay in the
- 8:15Speaker 1: MVP conversation this whole year the way he's playing.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Yeah, and uh Beaker two.
- 8:20Speaker 3: We saw two quarterbacks get after it. This has to
- 8:24Speaker 3: be the best duel so far this year.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yeah, no, without question, if you I mean, yeah, that
- 8:28Speaker 1: was shades of if you're just looking at the numbers,
- 8:31Speaker 1: that was shades of Brady Manning.
- 8:32Speaker 4: Yeah, Like that's how good it was.
- 8:33Speaker 1: So and it's a good, perfect transition because there's lots
- 8:36Speaker 1: of people making plays all over the field.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Touch playmakers told them.
- 8:45Speaker 2: What time, Holy where else would you start?
- 8:49Speaker 1: By the quarterback Sam Darnold twenty eight to thirty four,
- 8:52Speaker 1: three hundred and forty one yards, four touchdowns, one interception,
- 8:55Speaker 1: QB rating of one thirty five point four first three
- 8:57Speaker 1: hundred yard passing game for the Seahawks, and I saw
- 9:00Speaker 1: a really cool next gen stat bump. Darnald was seven
- 9:04Speaker 1: of eight for one hundred and sixty four yards and
- 9:06Speaker 1: three touchdowns on throws ten plus yards or more down
- 9:09Speaker 1: the field, perfect passer rating on those throws. He also
- 9:13Speaker 1: had a perfect passer rating on throws outside the pocket.
- 9:15Speaker 1: There's not a lot more you can say about how
- 9:17Speaker 1: Sam Donald's paying right now.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Nah, He's efficient, he understands what he's seeing. He's making
- 9:23Speaker 3: the right decisions. There are some windows that are small,
- 9:26Speaker 3: but when they are small, he's still finding a way
- 9:28Speaker 3: to threat the need him and get it in there.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Sam Donald big ups man. Third most passing yards in
- 9:32Speaker 3: his career three forty one. Second most touchdowns in a
- 9:35Speaker 3: game with four. Yeah, other than the pick that he
- 9:40Speaker 3: was trying to throw away that bounced off someone's helmet,
- 9:43Speaker 3: it was it was a It was a good game
- 9:45Speaker 3: for him. Jackson, Smith and Jigba had another good game.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Eight receptions, one thirty two, one touchdown. Sundays was Jason's
- 9:52Speaker 3: third one hundred yard game of the season. He passed
- 9:55Speaker 3: Joey Gallaway for second place in franchise history for the
- 9:57Speaker 3: most receptions in the player's first three seasons at one
- 10:00Speaker 3: ninety seven. Jason has had at least a thirty six
- 10:03Speaker 3: yard reception in every game this season, and most of
- 10:06Speaker 3: them are forty some yards fifty some yards.
- 10:09Speaker 4: It's like one thirty six. That's why the numbers are and.
- 10:11Speaker 2: It's like forty fifty fifty three.
- 10:13Speaker 4: He just makes a tough catch.
- 10:14Speaker 3: The one pass that he didn't I think it was
- 10:17Speaker 3: what nine targets, eight receptions. The one pass he didn't
- 10:20Speaker 3: come down with, Sam Bronald was actually protecting him. He
- 10:23Speaker 3: throws it behind him because Antoine Winfield is getting downhill
- 10:26Speaker 3: about to smack him, and I just couldn't come up
- 10:29Speaker 3: with that.
- 10:29Speaker 4: But a fishing day by Jayson.
- 10:31Speaker 1: No, he's crushing. I mean he nearly missed. I think
- 10:34Speaker 1: it was like three yards. Another one hundred yard game
- 10:36Speaker 1: this year. Yeah, he's crushing it. Like I said, the
- 10:38Speaker 1: only person he's chased right now is Pooking, the cool
- 10:40Speaker 1: of the rams, who gets a boatload more targets and
- 10:43Speaker 1: receptions that way. But JSN is an elite receiver. Whether
- 10:47Speaker 1: we had to see him play each and every week,
- 10:49Speaker 1: Ken Walker, you didn't get a lot of work, but
- 10:51Speaker 1: when he did he was great. Ten carries eighty six yards,
- 10:53Speaker 1: averaging eight point six yards a carry. So again, we
- 10:57Speaker 1: talked about the running game a lot, and we're going
- 10:58Speaker 1: to continue to talk about it. The Bucks came into
- 11:01Speaker 1: the game with a great rushing defense. They had not
- 11:03Speaker 1: allowed any player to rush for more than fifty yards.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Ken Walker gets way above that. I think if he
- 11:08Speaker 1: had more opportunities, probably got more yards. But love what
- 11:10Speaker 1: we're seeing from canon. Hopefully he continue to stack this
- 11:13Speaker 1: and get some more reps.
- 11:14Speaker 3: You had a run called back there probably would have
- 11:16Speaker 3: put him either close or over one hundred yards. AJ
- 11:19Speaker 3: Barner seven receptions, seven targets, fifty three yards, two touchdown,
- 11:23Speaker 3: two barn stomps, which is his celebration, which I love.
- 11:27Speaker 3: One he stopped, the other one he kicked the ball
- 11:29Speaker 3: into the Yeah, So I'm thinking he'll get a FedEx
- 11:33Speaker 3: a little slip there for that one first game in
- 11:36Speaker 3: his career with multiple receiving touchdowns.
- 11:39Speaker 4: This guy is legit.
- 11:40Speaker 3: We spoke to him during the huddle this week, so
- 11:42Speaker 3: I'm gonna claim some of his success on this giving
- 11:45Speaker 3: him good vibes and Tory Harten three receptions for thirty
- 11:48Speaker 3: nine yards and one touchdown, a play where it's probably underrate.
- 11:52Speaker 3: We're gonna break this down so I won't get too
- 11:54Speaker 3: much into it. But he stayed alive and that's what
- 11:57Speaker 3: you have to do as a receiver, your quarterbacks in trouble,
- 11:59Speaker 3: just stay alive, get yourself open and make plays.
- 12:02Speaker 2: No no question about it.
- 12:03Speaker 1: And not a lot you know, Seaowks gave up a
- 12:06Speaker 1: lot of points, so not leading a ton of defenders
- 12:08Speaker 1: and there Channing and Osu again, he's being consistent. Four tackles,
- 12:10Speaker 1: he had half a sack, one QB hit, one interception.
- 12:13Speaker 1: The defensive line didn't get as much pressure as we're
- 12:15Speaker 1: a customed to seeing this season.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I think they'll bounce back. Baker gets the ball out
- 12:18Speaker 2: really quick.
- 12:19Speaker 1: It's a different kind of matchup there, so we'll kind
- 12:22Speaker 1: of see as it goes on. I'm expecting this defensive
- 12:24Speaker 1: bounce back in a great way. Coach McDonald is a
- 12:27Speaker 1: defensive genius. I know he's in the lab right now
- 12:29Speaker 1: as we're recording this, and the boys gonna be ready
- 12:32Speaker 1: to play in Jacksonville on Sunday. But this is the
- 12:35Speaker 1: best receiver round up we're going to see all season.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I would presume, yes it is. You're said right.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Jsen let the charge eight for one thirty two a
- 12:43Speaker 3: long of fifty three in a touchdown. Cooper Cup had
- 12:45Speaker 3: his best game as a Seahawk, six receptions, for fifty
- 12:48Speaker 3: nine yards. You got AJ Barner just highlighted him. Seven
- 12:51Speaker 3: receptions fifty three yards, two touchdowns. Horton have three for
- 12:54Speaker 3: thirty nine and one touchdown three. Young had a big
- 12:57Speaker 3: play of thirty six that Charba. They had one for twelve,
- 12:59Speaker 3: A Royal had one for ten and uh yeah, total
- 13:03Speaker 3: three forty one four touchdowns.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Yep, love, love the loved one.
- 13:06Speaker 1: It's spread out like that when a lot of people
- 13:08Speaker 1: are getting involved in the game. Obviously, when you have
- 13:10Speaker 1: twenty eight receptions, things are going our way. But we've
- 13:13Speaker 1: teased it, We've hinted it a couple of times today.
- 13:15Speaker 1: We're gonna get through the plays of the game.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Bump.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I could have gone again with Jsn's long completion, but
- 13:19Speaker 1: I feel like we've gotten a lot of that. It's
- 13:21Speaker 1: gonna happen every single week, so I thought I mix
- 13:23Speaker 1: it up a little bit. But this is a big play.
- 13:25Speaker 1: AJ Barner finds the end zone for this second time again.
- 13:28Speaker 5: Out of the shotgun. Sam Darnold got a wide slot
- 13:32Speaker 5: to the far side. Horton the widest of the two receivers.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Here's a throw in the left flat. The ball is
- 13:38Speaker 5: caught and AJ Barner touchdown, sheehawks. He shakes the tackle
- 13:45Speaker 5: and steps into the end zone and one to play stay.
- 13:50Speaker 2: J is having one heck of a game.
- 13:52Speaker 5: Gets second touchdown today from six yards out. The Hawks
- 13:56Speaker 5: are a point away from tying it up.
- 13:59Speaker 3: I like the the design of this play. You got
- 14:01Speaker 3: a too high safety, but they're playing two men. That
- 14:04Speaker 3: means you have two high safeties and everyone else is
- 14:06Speaker 3: in man. You look at the guy over Cooper Cup
- 14:08Speaker 3: man posture up top. You got guys and man posture
- 14:12Speaker 3: as well. So what AJ is gonna do. He's gonna
- 14:14Speaker 3: release and get a wide release. He's gonna get right
- 14:16Speaker 3: behind Cooper Cup as Cooper Cup gets down the field.
- 14:19Speaker 3: That's gonna create a natural rub. Cooper Cup, being the
- 14:21Speaker 3: veteran that he is, doesn't rush this. He gets on
- 14:24Speaker 3: the Fender's toes. He shakes him a bit, holds him
- 14:27Speaker 3: and knows that I'm gonna get my guy over. And
- 14:29Speaker 3: this is unselfish play by Cooper Cup.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Right there.
- 14:33Speaker 3: AJ Barnard gets behind, gets to the flat, catch the football,
- 14:36Speaker 3: and the rest of that is just weight room status.
- 14:38Speaker 3: You gotta go downfield and get and tackle harder than
- 14:41Speaker 3: that to get me down on the ground. But I
- 14:43Speaker 3: want to focus on the offensive line. All right, guard
- 14:46Speaker 3: loses a battle, so Sam Downer has to hang in there.
- 14:49Speaker 3: I know he feels that he's not necessarily looking at
- 14:52Speaker 3: the defensive line because he knows this is a quick
- 14:53Speaker 3: game type of deal. But he stays in there. Now
- 14:56Speaker 3: a lot of guys would have flinched a little bit,
- 14:57Speaker 3: but he didn't do that. Gets the football out on time,
- 15:00Speaker 3: He gets it to a J. Barner, he turns, he scores,
- 15:02Speaker 3: He does the barn and stomp.
- 15:04Speaker 1: No love everything about this play. Cooper Cup made the play.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I mean, you talked about it the patients and it's
- 15:08Speaker 1: a rub route. It's you know, if you're not patient
- 15:12Speaker 1: or if you get a little too overzelus, you get
- 15:13Speaker 1: a penalty. I remember for a lot of years I
- 15:15Speaker 1: felt like we led the league in offensive pass interference penalties.
- 15:18Speaker 2: It's anything like that gets crossed up. So great play there.
- 15:21Speaker 1: You talked about Sam Darnold, good job getting the ball
- 15:23Speaker 1: out quick, and then just shout out to A J.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Barnert because that wasn't just some guy trying to tackle him.
- 15:29Speaker 2: That was number fifty four. That's Avante David.
- 15:31Speaker 1: That man will be in the Hall of fame in
- 15:32Speaker 1: my opinion, he's a former All Pro. That's not just
- 15:35Speaker 1: some guy out there. So Ajed Barner getting in the
- 15:37Speaker 1: weight room shown what's really good there. So a huge play,
- 15:40Speaker 1: big play in the game. Big ups to everyone involved.
- 15:43Speaker 1: And this is another play bump that I'm sure you're
- 15:44Speaker 1: gonna have a field day over. This is Sam Darnold
- 15:47Speaker 1: connecting with Tory Horton for twenty one yard touchdown on
- 15:51Speaker 1: fourth and two to take the lead.
- 15:53Speaker 5: Sam maybe trying to get him to jump off sides
- 15:56Speaker 5: motion no snap comes, Sam's gonna look, Sam's gonna get
- 16:00Speaker 5: Sam's gonna throw. Sam has hut touchdown Shayhawks Tory Orton,
- 16:08Speaker 5: Sam Donald, you wild man.
- 16:11Speaker 4: You pulls away from two tacklers.
- 16:14Speaker 5: He finds Horton in the back of the end zone,
- 16:16Speaker 5: uncovered from twenty one out. He's third receiving GD.
- 16:22Speaker 2: For the rookie.
- 16:23Speaker 5: I don't know how he did it, but Sam Darnald,
- 16:26Speaker 5: you are a magician man. The Seahawks score on fourth
- 16:30Speaker 5: down in two. It's thirty four twenty eight, looking to
- 16:35Speaker 5: put on the extra point on ninety nine yard drive.
- 16:39Speaker 5: Holy catfish, that's two this game already.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Sam Dartle makes this thing happen. You had Jaysin and
- 16:46Speaker 3: Cooper Cup to the left of him. He puts Cooper
- 16:48Speaker 3: Cup in motion. You don't see a defender run with him,
- 16:51Speaker 3: so that tells you it's gonna be zone off top
- 16:53Speaker 3: got aj Barner and Horton at the top of your
- 16:56Speaker 3: screen right there. What's gonna happen is JSN makes this play,
- 17:00Speaker 3: and this is what I'm talking about, where guy's not
- 17:01Speaker 3: being selfish at this running and doing your job. The
- 17:03Speaker 3: reason why he makes his play is because the bucks
- 17:06Speaker 3: are clearly in cover three. You got a one high safety.
- 17:09Speaker 3: You see the way that the corner opens up when
- 17:11Speaker 3: Jason runs that deep cross. On the other side, you
- 17:14Speaker 3: have Cooper Cup running the flat. He takes the flat
- 17:15Speaker 3: defender there. Then you have the corner over the top.
- 17:18Speaker 3: You end up with three deep. The reason why Jasn
- 17:20Speaker 3: makes this play is because the corner doesn't have any
- 17:23Speaker 3: other threat and he knows that Jasn is a guy.
- 17:25Speaker 3: He runs deep and he's passing the deep cross off.
- 17:28Speaker 4: To his safety.
- 17:29Speaker 3: But because he's Jasn, he goes I'm gonna make sure
- 17:31Speaker 3: he gets there. I'm gonna escort him to my safety
- 17:34Speaker 3: because I know how good this young man is So
- 17:36Speaker 3: now let's focus on Horton. Horton does a good job
- 17:38Speaker 3: of getting on the mic linebacker and getting his hands
- 17:40Speaker 3: off me right Get your hands off me right now,
- 17:42Speaker 3: because the mic. All he's trying to do is this
- 17:44Speaker 3: rub what he's trying to do. So because JSN is
- 17:47Speaker 3: who he is, one of the best receivers in the league,
- 17:49Speaker 3: he takes a corner with him, holds his safety.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Horton does what he's supposed to do clean release.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Off that mic linebacker, and now there's nothing but space
- 17:56Speaker 3: and opportunity. By the time the corner tries to get
- 17:58Speaker 3: back to his responsibilities, it is too late and you
- 18:01Speaker 3: score a touchdown. Now let's focus on Sam Donald. Sam
- 18:04Speaker 3: Donald zach Sharbon is in the game for this reason.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Right here.
- 18:08Speaker 3: He is good at pass blocking, but sometimes he's just
- 18:10Speaker 3: gonna lose some reps. Right, his responsibility was correct. He
- 18:13Speaker 3: tries to make a play, but that as rusher makes
- 18:15Speaker 3: a move and gets his hands off of him. So
- 18:17Speaker 3: now Sam Donald keeping his eyes down the field with
- 18:20Speaker 3: all that pressure that's going on, you got to ask
- 18:22Speaker 3: rusher to the left. You gotta ask rusher to the right.
- 18:25Speaker 3: You got to step up in the pocket and you
- 18:27Speaker 3: find your receiver. That's composure and that's knowing where to
- 18:29Speaker 3: go with the football.
- 18:31Speaker 1: I mean, well, said Bump. There's a lot going on
- 18:33Speaker 1: in this play. You mentioned for one two a couple
- 18:35Speaker 1: things in the secondary for the Bucks, the safety or
- 18:38Speaker 1: the corner on that side.
- 18:39Speaker 2: You're exactly right.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I've seen number eleven on a fall in there when
- 18:42Speaker 1: he realizes that Tory Horton is now coming across. If
- 18:45Speaker 1: you don't speach here in there, it's a rap. Yeah,
- 18:47Speaker 1: there's no way you can open your hips back to that,
- 18:49Speaker 1: especially Tory Horton's a fast dude. At that point, it's
- 18:51Speaker 1: too late. And so there's one play in the secondary
- 18:53Speaker 1: and then Sam Donald again keeping his eyes up with
- 18:56Speaker 1: all that distraction.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Everything happened in front of him.
- 18:58Speaker 1: At no point if you watch him, does he Dude's
- 19:00Speaker 1: eyes come down and I'm just looking at him go
- 19:02Speaker 1: through progressions. He drops back. Okay, am I gonna hit
- 19:04Speaker 1: Cooper Cup right away, because remind you, this was fourth
- 19:06Speaker 1: and two. It was she was playing the game. So
- 19:08Speaker 1: I don't know if in a huddle what I don't
- 19:10Speaker 1: know what was talked about, but I'm sure that wasn't
- 19:12Speaker 1: necessarily the number one thing. Hey, we're gonna for sure
- 19:13Speaker 1: hit Tory Horton on this playing for a touchdown. You're
- 19:16Speaker 1: looking at Cooper Cup. Okay, he stands up, gets his
- 19:18Speaker 1: second third option, keeping eyes down the pocket.
- 19:20Speaker 2: I mean that is unbelievable.
- 19:22Speaker 1: That is teach tape for quarterbacks, and I love when
- 19:25Speaker 1: everything's working the same. I mean, a lot of people
- 19:26Speaker 1: stepping up making plays because they're a good football team too.
- 19:29Speaker 1: They got a lot of good defenders on that side
- 19:31Speaker 1: of the ball, so honestly great top to bottom. Unfortunately,
- 19:35Speaker 1: I was hoping that was gonna be the game winning touchdown,
- 19:37Speaker 1: hoping that was gonna be the game winning touchdown. Unfortunately
- 19:40Speaker 1: it was not in for the Seahawks. The clock just
- 19:42Speaker 1: ran out.
- 19:45Speaker 5: They're just gonna let the clock wine down, not even
- 19:47Speaker 5: gonna bother taking that last time out.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Seahawks are in the lost calun for the first time
- 19:52Speaker 1: since Week one.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Thought it was gonna be defensive battle. Obviously was not.
- 19:57Speaker 1: There's only three punts in the game total, almost nine
- 20:00Speaker 1: hundred yards of total offense. And you know, like I said,
- 20:03Speaker 1: it came down the quarterback. Seem Darnold played his best
- 20:05Speaker 1: game in Seahawks, and it's not close. It's unfortunate that
- 20:08Speaker 1: game ended in an interception because of off a helmet,
- 20:11Speaker 1: but he played his absolute mind out.
- 20:13Speaker 2: There, out of his mind. It was great to see.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Yeh.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Jason balled out another one hundred yard game. Ken Walker
- 20:19Speaker 3: was good. He averaged eight point six per clip along
- 20:21Speaker 3: thirty one, but defensively, the Seahawks unable to get anything going.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Mayfield was only sacked once. There were no turnovers for force.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Mayfield was twenty nine to thirty three for three seventy
- 20:31Speaker 3: nine and two touchdowns, and then probably the rookie of
- 20:36Speaker 3: the year went off set of reception one p sixty three.
- 20:39Speaker 4: One touchdown a Mecca a Buca. I asked you not
- 20:42Speaker 4: to do this, and you didn't listen.
- 20:43Speaker 2: That's what I said.
- 20:44Speaker 5: Do.
- 20:44Speaker 2: We were nice about it. I had a little homecoming.
- 20:47Speaker 2: But just worry about it. You know, you get the
- 20:48Speaker 2: rest of the year. Man.
- 20:49Speaker 3: You know, imagine how many tickets he bought and then
- 20:51Speaker 3: he went out there and did that disrespectful.
- 20:53Speaker 1: He probably had to tell so many people say, hey,
- 20:55Speaker 1: you need to go secondary market. I'm on my rookie deal. Yeah,
- 20:58Speaker 1: I can't can't buy the old thing Yeah, it was up.
- 21:01Speaker 1: The Seahawks were down three starters defensively, and I think
- 21:03Speaker 1: for the first time it might have shown up. I
- 21:04Speaker 1: know everyone's gonna be on task this week and get
- 21:07Speaker 1: right back and get right for the Jacksonville Jaguars, a
- 21:09Speaker 1: team that's playing tonight, really good football team. We'll see
- 21:12Speaker 1: what happens there. Again, a bummer the Seahawks loss at home.
- 21:14Speaker 1: It was so cool seeing the top fifty players get recognized.
- 21:18Speaker 1: We got to talk to Brandon Mebane pregame as well
- 21:19Speaker 1: as Max Strong. Matt Hausback gave a great speech. He
- 21:22Speaker 1: also joined us in the radio booth for a little bit.
- 21:24Speaker 1: So really cool. There. A bummer that the Seahawks didn't
- 21:27Speaker 1: get it done. But like I said, Jacksonville, this team
- 21:30Speaker 1: will be ready. They've been really good under Mike McDonald
- 21:32Speaker 1: after a lost bump, so I'll be excited to get
- 21:35Speaker 1: us there and good on the road. Yeah, and good
- 21:38Speaker 1: on the ri that's not just good, moll like. They
- 21:41Speaker 1: can believe nine and one under coach McDonald, So we'll see.
- 21:44Speaker 1: We appreciate it. This has been Hawk Talk. Michael Bumpus,
- 21:46Speaker 1: I'm NASA Toby. We'll give you later this week for
- 21:49Speaker 1: a preview of those Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 21:51Speaker 2: See you next time,
