- 0:53Speaker 2: I know I was trying to be classy? Is that
- 0:55Speaker 2: what it sounded like? Was I?
- 0:56Speaker 4: Big?
- 0:57Speaker 3: Class? What you sounded very classic? Love you think you
- 1:01Speaker 3: killed it? Bro?
- 1:02Speaker 2: Thank you? This was the Red Carpets of intros for us.
- 1:05Speaker 2: We did it. It was good. What are you wearing tonight,
- 1:07Speaker 2: Rob' It's a flannel by Dixon.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Actually this is the first time I'm wearing it. Big
- 1:17Speaker 3: fan of it. You guys go check check it out.
- 1:21Speaker 2: D I x x O N only two xes.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I would I would love it if they became a
- 1:27Speaker 3: sponsor because I really really love this flannel.
- 1:31Speaker 2: We will shill whatever you need is to shill. I
- 1:34Speaker 2: love that, love that very lovely palette on.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Us, l Thank you very much.
- 1:38Speaker 2: I like it.
- 1:40Speaker 3: It's got the browns, different different shades of browns, and
- 1:44Speaker 3: then we got a little bit of forest green going
- 1:46Speaker 3: on and the like that.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I like that a lot.
- 1:48Speaker 3: It's very Lumberjack esque.
- 1:50Speaker 2: I like it. I love it.
- 1:52Speaker 3: God, thank you, you're handsome. Thank you you really are.
- 1:56Speaker 2: What is what is a handsome guy? Like you been
- 1:59Speaker 2: watching lately?
- 2:00Speaker 3: And you know, I had to get prepared for this.
- 2:03Speaker 3: I watched a lot of Academy Award nominated films, so
- 2:09Speaker 3: I figured I would shy away from those since we're
- 2:12Speaker 3: going to talk about so many of them. But a
- 2:15Speaker 3: recent one that I did watch, I watched the newer
- 2:18Speaker 3: Robert Zemeckis film that's on Netflix now and it's called
- 2:23Speaker 3: Here with Tom Hanks and Robin Wright.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Oh, I've been sort of meaning to watch that as well.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Tell me what you think.
- 2:31Speaker 3: I wasn't from the preview. It wasn't something that I
- 2:36Speaker 3: was like, Oh, I need to see it. It looked
- 2:38Speaker 3: a lot like the CGI and stuff was going to
- 2:41Speaker 3: throw me off because they're aged throughout the year, so
- 2:44Speaker 3: it's when they're younger.
- 2:46Speaker 2: And I was just like, oh, I'm just going to
- 2:47Speaker 2: be thinking about one perspective, so that's kind of.
- 2:52Speaker 3: That's exactly right. So, yeah, it was a different concept
- 2:57Speaker 3: where the entire film shot from one camera shot that
- 3:03Speaker 3: is like looking in the living room of this house.
- 3:07Speaker 3: And the house was like a colonial so it was
- 3:10Speaker 3: like over one hundred years old, and so it wasn't
- 3:13Speaker 3: just Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. It was a lot
- 3:16Speaker 3: of different families that lived in this house over the
- 3:18Speaker 3: years and the different struggles and the you know, the
- 3:23Speaker 3: different great moments that these families had. I thought it
- 3:27Speaker 3: was really well done. That's actually And it went all
- 3:31Speaker 3: the way up different like political like periods and went
- 3:37Speaker 3: all the way up into like COVID and it just
- 3:41Speaker 3: like it was. It was crazy, dude. It got a
- 3:45Speaker 3: little bit Tree of lifey for me because they went
- 3:49Speaker 3: way back in time, like yeah.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that was in one of the previous
- 3:54Speaker 2: maybe or something.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Yeah, dinosaurs, So that's how they started it. And I
- 3:58Speaker 3: was like, oh god, I don't know if I'm.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Like this is it linear the whole way?
- 4:03Speaker 3: No, they go they pop back and forth. They pop cool,
- 4:08Speaker 3: but it it surpassed my expectations quite a bit. I
- 4:13Speaker 3: ended up really liking it. I even got kind of
- 4:15Speaker 3: emotional at the end. It was it was a really
- 4:18Speaker 3: well done film. And Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Kelly Riley
- 4:22Speaker 3: from Yellowstone, Paul Bettany. So yeah, it's uh, it's definitely
- 4:30Speaker 3: worth checking out. And it's it's currently on Netflix, so
- 4:33Speaker 3: I would I would see it on there before renting
- 4:36Speaker 3: it or something.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Yeah that's cool. Nice. Yeah, yeah, that's definitely what I
- 4:40Speaker 2: intend on checking out at some point.
- 4:42Speaker 3: You should.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I love it. You should.
- 4:44Speaker 3: It is worth watching. What have you been watching?
- 4:47Speaker 2: You're gonna have to remind me because I can't remember
- 4:49Speaker 2: if I've talked about this one. If I have, I
- 4:51Speaker 2: can pie of it. Have I talked about your cordially
- 4:55Speaker 2: invited yet?
- 4:56Speaker 3: You have not one.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I didn't think I had, but I couldn't quite.
- 5:01Speaker 3: It's a pretty new one. Yeah.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yeah, so this is on Prime right now. I believe
- 5:05Speaker 2: it's where I watched it. This is a movie with
- 5:08Speaker 2: Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell. Really great. They each have
- 5:14Speaker 2: a family member who is getting married and they have
- 5:17Speaker 2: this like small island that is very important to them
- 5:21Speaker 2: and their families and has been for years and years,
- 5:24Speaker 2: and so the kind of fun thing is it's Will
- 5:27Speaker 2: Ferrell's daughter, but Reese Witherspoon's sister, and then like things
- 5:32Speaker 2: happen and they have to like share this place to
- 5:35Speaker 2: have weddings because there's a snapho, right, and comedy ensues
- 5:39Speaker 2: from there. His daughter is Geraldine Viswanathan, who we love,
- 5:45Speaker 2: who we've seen in so many things. She's so fun.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I love her. She's really great in this. And then
- 5:50Speaker 2: Meredith Hagner was the person who was Reese's sister, and
- 5:55Speaker 2: I don't remember really seeing her. She was hysterically funny,
- 5:59Speaker 2: really really good. Good that Jimmy Tatro guy was her
- 6:02Speaker 2: like fiance, who's really funny. You'd recognize him. He's been
- 6:06Speaker 2: in a bunch of stuff. This movie really surprised me.
- 6:11Speaker 2: It was kind of rom comy and dumb at moments.
- 6:14Speaker 2: You know, It's what I think others would say. I
- 6:17Speaker 2: loved it every second I was in. But I also
- 6:20Speaker 2: think it's just genuinely super super funny. I was like
- 6:23Speaker 2: gut laughing at several points throughout it. I think it's
- 6:27Speaker 2: really well done. Love I mean, we all love Reese
- 6:30Speaker 2: and Will, so like it makes sense. Yeah, but this
- 6:33Speaker 2: was like a legitimately really funny, really cute movie. It's
- 6:37Speaker 2: got a couple of heartfelt moments. I was a little
- 6:41Speaker 2: worried it was just gonna be like a straight to
- 6:43Speaker 2: streaming type movie. You know.
- 6:45Speaker 3: They're kind of kind of made me think of when
- 6:48Speaker 3: I saw that. I think I'll watch this one like
- 6:50Speaker 3: a few times. I really enjoyed it a lot.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I think it has a little bit more depth to
- 6:54Speaker 2: it than that, and I really liked it, so I
- 6:56Speaker 2: recommend it. I think you would really enjoy it. It's fun.
- 6:59Speaker 3: I love Will Farell. I've watched pretty much every dude.
- 7:01Speaker 2: He's funny in this too, and kind of like a
- 7:03Speaker 2: different a little bit of a different character. But it's
- 7:06Speaker 2: it's really good. And and Reese is just always great too.
- 7:10Speaker 3: She's a delight.
- 7:11Speaker 2: She's so funny, Like she's such a great actor that
- 7:14Speaker 2: I feel like I forget that sometimes, you know, but
- 7:17Speaker 2: genuinely hysterical. So, yeah, check out, you're cordially invited. It
- 7:19Speaker 2: was really fun. Yeah, I'll have you been streaming anything?
- 7:24Speaker 3: Yeah, so my house has gotten completely rocked.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Get into that.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I'm just getting over it. And over the weekend, I
- 7:38Speaker 3: was hit pretty hard with it. But I watched the
- 7:44Speaker 3: SNL fiftieth let's.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Talk about amazing.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Yeah, so you did get a chance to check it out.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I did. Yeah, I think I watched it after the fact,
- 7:55Speaker 2: but it confused me a little bit that it was
- 7:57Speaker 2: on Sunday not on Saturday, which seemed weird. I mean,
- 8:01Speaker 2: I get it, but I was like, what is happening
- 8:04Speaker 2: on Saturday?
- 8:05Speaker 3: We saw that they were doing a big concert. It
- 8:08Speaker 3: was like all like the musical things for like, it
- 8:11Speaker 3: was like a lead up to it.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Okay, I didn't see that was that fun? Did you?
- 8:15Speaker 3: Was fun? I didn't watch the whole thing, but bits
- 8:17Speaker 3: and pieces. Yeah, there was a big The big viral
- 8:22Speaker 3: thing was that post Malone joined the other members of
- 8:26Speaker 3: Nirvana and they did smells like teens. Fe was pretty crazy.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Yeah, but I was in the midst of feeling like
- 8:36Speaker 3: butt from the flu. I got a text from our
- 8:39Speaker 3: buddy Brandon and it just said goulay and it reminded
- 8:43Speaker 3: me that I was missing and fiftieth I missed like
- 8:47Speaker 3: the first fifteen minutes of it, but I got in
- 8:50Speaker 3: during the The Lawrence Welk Show, where Will Ferrell. I
- 8:54Speaker 3: was doing his Robert Goulay.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Imprecious, so happy they brought that back to that Krysten.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Way De nice character has killed me with the little hands.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Oh it's so good dude. But yeah, it was pretty awesome.
- 9:11Speaker 3: So many huge stars were there in the audience and
- 9:14Speaker 3: on stage, Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Paul McCartney
- 9:20Speaker 3: closed it. Adam Sandler's song was so good.
- 9:25Speaker 2: I loved that. Yeah, man, that was really great.
- 9:28Speaker 3: But apparently Dana Carvey got hit with the flu so
- 9:32Speaker 3: he had to miss.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I was wondering, Okay, I was. I figured there had
- 9:35Speaker 2: to be a story because I was like, where's he?
- 9:37Speaker 2: I'm sure he would have came and their podcast all
- 9:40Speaker 2: the time, right.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Yeah, dan Ackroid wasn't there, which was a bummer because
- 9:47Speaker 3: like all the original folks were still there that are
- 9:50Speaker 3: still with us, and Bill Hayter was a big I
- 9:55Speaker 3: couldn't believe he.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Yeah, what's Bill Hayter doing? That's interesting?
- 9:59Speaker 3: I don't know. So those because everyone was there, it
- 10:03Speaker 3: was very noticeable the people. But one of my favorite
- 10:07Speaker 3: things that happened is when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler
- 10:10Speaker 3: were taking the questions and Ryan Reynolds, It's like, Oh Ryan,
- 10:16Speaker 3: how are you great? Why what have you heard?
- 10:21Speaker 2: Great?
- 10:21Speaker 3: It was so good spot on.
- 10:25Speaker 1: It was.
- 10:25Speaker 3: It reminded me of when Paul Rubins had his whole
- 10:29Speaker 3: deal where he he had gotten arrested for the theater
- 10:34Speaker 3: and then his next public appearance he just like heard
- 10:37Speaker 3: any good jokes lately. It reminded me a lot of that.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Not to that extent, of course, but I hear you.
- 10:45Speaker 3: But let's make a comedic moment out of probably some
- 10:50Speaker 3: pretty stressful times. Yeah, yeah, but I loved it. I
- 10:55Speaker 3: loved every minute of it. I kind of watched another
- 10:58Speaker 3: three hours of it. I loved that show, have loved
- 11:01Speaker 3: it since I was a kid, so I was I
- 11:04Speaker 3: was super into it.
- 11:05Speaker 2: I really liked that show. I for some reason, it
- 11:08Speaker 2: was It's never been like appointment viewing for me. I
- 11:10Speaker 2: don't really know why. It doesn't make a lot of sense.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I really loved it too. I thought it was really fun.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I've like recently got into more with the podcast, and
- 11:19Speaker 2: I think I read an SNL book and watched that
- 11:21Speaker 2: movie and stuff. So a lot of the like Saturday
- 11:25Speaker 2: About Saturday Night, which I really liked. I don't know
- 11:27Speaker 2: if I talked about that on here yea, but man,
- 11:30Speaker 2: what a fun movie. I really enjoyed that, agreed, But yeah,
- 11:34Speaker 2: I just thought it was super fun. It was it
- 11:36Speaker 2: was very clear that everyone was having a pretty great time.
- 11:38Speaker 2: There was some microphone issues, which I like kind of understand,
- 11:42Speaker 2: but I'm also like, we mike hundreds of live events
- 11:46Speaker 2: every day with like a ton of people, why can't
- 11:49Speaker 2: we do this here?
- 11:50Speaker 3: It's my Rudolph one was the worst.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Scratchy the whole time. And yeah, it was really weird.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I loved that that how they got Mike Myers as
- 11:59Speaker 3: Linda Rich.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I mean, all the bits were really funny, I thought.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I mean, yes, they were like if you're a fan,
- 12:07Speaker 2: you're gonna love these, right, They're all kind of fan service.
- 12:09Speaker 2: But I love that. I think it's so great. I
- 12:12Speaker 2: loved all the tributes. I'm with you. I also loved
- 12:14Speaker 2: at the end, you know, they have everyone on stage.
- 12:16Speaker 2: At the end, they showed like shots of the audience.
- 12:20Speaker 2: There was like four people out there stuff. Yes, everybody
- 12:23Speaker 2: was out there, which was really fun. Uh yeah, I
- 12:26Speaker 2: don't know. The vibe was just great and a ton
- 12:28Speaker 2: of these people are getting older and you know, it
- 12:31Speaker 2: just felt like, oh, hell, this might be the last
- 12:33Speaker 2: time we see Garrett Morris, like I didn't even know
- 12:36Speaker 2: he was still alive, to be honest, and all these
- 12:39Speaker 2: people who are just so great, and yeah, I don't know.
- 12:42Speaker 2: I thought it was I thought it was really fun.
- 12:44Speaker 2: I was personally happy I got to watch it without
- 12:47Speaker 2: commercials because it was long.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Oh sure, it was very long. Yeah, but it was
- 12:53Speaker 3: like the only time of the day that I was
- 12:55Speaker 3: actually up. I slept the entire day perfect, so so
- 12:59Speaker 3: you were like, I was good and then I fell
- 13:02Speaker 3: asleep for another twelve hours after Yeah.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, I thought it was really fun and
- 13:07Speaker 2: they seemed like they did a great job and all
- 13:10Speaker 2: the things you said, I was I was just saying, like,
- 13:13Speaker 2: where the hell is David Spade and then he came around,
- 13:16Speaker 2: you like all the things right, And I was wondering
- 13:19Speaker 2: about Dana Carvey, so that that makes sense though I
- 13:21Speaker 2: didn't even think about so I'm smart. Yeah, but yeah,
- 13:27Speaker 2: I thought it was really fun and I could see,
- 13:30Speaker 2: you know, watching clips of that later and everything, like,
- 13:32Speaker 2: I thought they had some great bits, and yeah, it
- 13:35Speaker 2: was fun. I liked it. It was super fun with
- 13:38Speaker 2: you also Eddie Murphy playing Tracy Morgan. So fun with
- 13:46Speaker 2: Tracy Morgan right next to him, was really great. Got
- 13:52Speaker 2: of one it was so good.
- 13:56Speaker 3: It was amazing, really really funny.
- 13:58Speaker 2: He's like, I don't get it, you know, like, yeah,
- 14:02Speaker 2: I don't really say it really really fun. So yeah,
- 14:06Speaker 2: well what do you say about you? We do? If
- 14:07Speaker 2: you plug runs here?
- 14:09Speaker 3: I think we should.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Yes, noeus can business. It's always over on the Twitter machiner.
- 14:12Speaker 2: We're at ha an endorsement with the Z. You can
- 14:15Speaker 2: go to Facebook dot com. You can go to uh,
- 14:18Speaker 2: what are all the other things sky as we're on

- 14:32Speaker 2: as well. But if you really want to hang out
- 14:35Speaker 2: and be part of the crew that's about to go.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Patreon dot com slash the avid indoorsman. It's a great
- 14:41Speaker 3: time on Patreon. We love our patrons. We give them
- 14:44Speaker 3: lots of perks. One of those perks is getting a
- 14:47Speaker 3: shout out here. So let's give a shout out to
- 14:49Speaker 3: Marsha Grisiac, Mary Fox, Nanette Walkley, Yohan Brostad, deb Olk
- 14:55Speaker 3: and Noel Flores. You guys are great. Thank you for
- 14:58Speaker 3: your patronage. Big fancy you guys. Another perk is we
- 15:03Speaker 3: give our patrons an extended version of every episode we
- 15:07Speaker 3: put out that only they get to hear. We usually
- 15:11Speaker 3: do usually do a top five draft that pertains to
- 15:13Speaker 3: the movie we're talking about, and for this episode, we're
- 15:17Speaker 3: not doing a movie, but we're talking about Oscars, and
- 15:21Speaker 3: so we thought, let's do our top ten best director
- 15:26Speaker 3: Oscar winners.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Nice.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Nice, We're gonna do top ten.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Good time, and they're all pretty good movies. Yeah, as
- 15:36Speaker 2: you would presume.
- 15:37Speaker 3: You would assume as much.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Yeah, sorry, if I seem weird, I feel like I've
- 15:42Speaker 2: had to sneeze for about five minutes and it's just
- 15:46Speaker 2: just so if anybody's watching the video and it's like
- 15:50Speaker 2: he seems a little extra twitchy today, you know why.
- 15:54Speaker 3: This is also the most I've talked in like four
- 15:58Speaker 3: or five days, so I feel like I'm a little
- 16:00Speaker 3: tongue tied as well. So we're not at our best
- 16:03Speaker 3: right now. Yes, just bear with it.
- 16:05Speaker 2: It's pretty close to our best though, We're honest it
- 16:08Speaker 2: It means it doesn't get much better what it is,
- 16:10Speaker 2: but you know, uh, it's I don't know into best
- 16:14Speaker 2: Supporting Actress.
- 16:15Speaker 3: All right, great, let's do it. Yes, I'll start this
- 16:21Speaker 3: off so our Our nominees for Best Supporting Actress are
- 16:26Speaker 3: Monica Barbero for A Complete Unknown, Ariana Grande for Wicked,
- 16:32Speaker 3: Felicity Jones for The Brutalist, Isabella Rosselini for Conclave, and
- 16:39Speaker 3: Zoe Saldana for Amelia Perez. Now, usually we'll do who
- 16:44Speaker 3: we want to win, who we think will win. I
- 16:49Speaker 3: would love to give this to Ariana Grande because I
- 16:52Speaker 3: thought she was so good as Glinda. She blew me away.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I did love her in that.
- 16:58Speaker 3: I didn't expect her to be as good as she was. Now,
- 17:02Speaker 3: I know she's funny, and I know she sings well,
- 17:04Speaker 3: I agree, but I didn't. I didn't know that she
- 17:09Speaker 3: could sing like that. It's a different style. You know,
- 17:13Speaker 3: you got your pop stuff, even musical theater, but she's
- 17:15Speaker 3: got to do like, oh, operatic things. I was very
- 17:20Speaker 3: impressed with her. But I also think that I think
- 17:26Speaker 3: Zoe so Daniel is going to get it. She is
- 17:30Speaker 3: by far the front runner for this. She's won so
- 17:33Speaker 3: many awards for it already. She had to do a
- 17:37Speaker 3: lot in that movie. And had to sing and dance
- 17:40Speaker 3: as well. Yeah, she's a wonderful actress. She deserves and
- 17:46Speaker 3: so yeah, I'm I'm good giving it to Zoe Soldania.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Well, that's why I picked as well. I feel like
- 17:55Speaker 2: she's gonna get it. I feel like that movie has
- 17:57Speaker 2: to get at least a few thirteen nominations. It's also,
- 18:02Speaker 2: this is just gonna come up that that movie doesn't
- 18:05Speaker 2: make much sense to me. I like it, but I
- 18:09Speaker 2: also I'm so confused by it. So I know we've
- 18:12Speaker 2: talked about this before, but why you would make a
- 18:14Speaker 2: musical without any decent songs or people who can really
- 18:18Speaker 2: sing is a very strange move to me.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Yeah, that was my exact feeling because I was kind
- 18:25Speaker 3: of into the story me too.
- 18:27Speaker 2: I like that. I was compelled by it a lot.
- 18:29Speaker 2: I'm with you, the.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Story is crazy. Yeah, it's I feel like it could
- 18:33Speaker 3: have been just a good drama and everyone.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Did a really good job acting. I thought, except for
- 18:38Speaker 2: the singing, I do. I will say though, Zoe's Adnet
- 18:42Speaker 2: is not a bad singer at all. I thought she
- 18:45Speaker 2: was actually one of the better people in it.
- 18:47Speaker 3: For sure, she can dance really well.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, she's not bad by any means, but it's
- 18:52Speaker 2: just it is strange. But so I'm picking her. I
- 18:56Speaker 2: hear you on Ariana Grande. I like her a lot.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I had a hard time picking who I want, but
- 19:00Speaker 2: I ended up saying what I who I really want
- 19:03Speaker 2: to get it is Monica Barbero from a complete unknown.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Yeah, Joe biass wonderful. She was great. She was she
- 19:12Speaker 3: sounded great.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Ah, sounded so great, cus Button, you know, like had
- 19:17Speaker 2: to do a lot of emotional, you know things during that.
- 19:20Speaker 2: I felt like that performance had some pretty good depths.
- 19:23Speaker 3: So honestly, I felt like all all of the nominees
- 19:27Speaker 3: had to do a lot except for Isabella Rossellini. I
- 19:32Speaker 3: felt like she was in for this for about five
- 19:36Speaker 3: minutes and I like, she was fine. I didn't think
- 19:39Speaker 3: that she was bad anyway. And I mean she is
- 19:43Speaker 3: a legendary actress. Yes, but I was a little shocked
- 19:47Speaker 3: that she was nominated for them.
- 19:49Speaker 2: When I first was writing these down, I went and
- 19:52Speaker 2: made sure that I got that right, because I was like,
- 19:54Speaker 2: was she even ate it? Like I don't even remember really,
- 19:57Speaker 2: you know, so I'm with you. And again I thought
- 20:00Speaker 2: that she was bad or anything, but no, no.
- 20:03Speaker 3: She was mine.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Not a memorable same level because all these other ones,
- 20:08Speaker 2: I'd be like, if any of them won, I'd be like, yeah.
- 20:11Speaker 3: All right, great, well, and the stuff that Felicity Jones
- 20:14Speaker 3: had to do in The Brutalist, like, yeah, she's great.
- 20:16Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know how you put those two
- 20:18Speaker 3: in the same Yeah, very strange category, very very strange.
- 20:22Speaker 3: I'm with you anyway.
- 20:23Speaker 2: So but yeah, so we both picked Zoe's out of
- 20:25Speaker 2: the we did.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Why don't you tell us about Best Supporting Acts.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Best Supporting Actor? The nominees are from Anora, You're a
- 20:33Speaker 2: Bozov from a real pain, Kieran Koolkin, a complete unknown,
- 20:39Speaker 2: Edward Norton, The Brutalist, Guy Pierce, and the Apprenticed, The
- 20:44Speaker 2: Apprenticed the Apprentice Jeremy Strong. I was like, why did
- 20:49Speaker 2: I say apprenticed?
- 20:51Speaker 3: Dumb dumb idiot.
- 20:55Speaker 2: I picked the same person for this with a sort
- 20:59Speaker 2: of a caveat, But I think it's going to be
- 21:02Speaker 2: Karen Culkin. And he was wonderful in that film, so
- 21:05Speaker 2: I think that makes a ton of sense. A weird
- 21:09Speaker 2: not a weird character, but just like a nuanced, strange,
- 21:13Speaker 2: outside the norm character. And I thought he did such
- 21:16Speaker 2: a good job. So, yeah, why don't you tell me
- 21:20Speaker 2: who you had and I'll tell you my other person
- 21:21Speaker 2: I really wanted to lift up.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I one hundred percent think it's going to
- 21:27Speaker 3: Kiaran Culkin. We're two for two. He also is winning
- 21:30Speaker 3: every award he is. I think this is the biggest
- 21:33Speaker 3: lock to win. Good dude. He yeah, in everything everybody's
- 21:40Speaker 3: going on and on about.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Him, it makes sense.
- 21:41Speaker 3: It kind of feels like he's playing himself a little
- 21:43Speaker 3: bit when I see him in interviews with Greens, Yeah,
- 21:45Speaker 3: a little bit, But I think he's just I think
- 21:49Speaker 3: he's pretty great. He's pretty funny, and he had to
- 21:53Speaker 3: really emote in some stuff. It was a great performance.
- 21:57Speaker 3: All the actors were great, though, if I had to
- 22:00Speaker 3: give it to somebody else, honestly, I was super impressed
- 22:03Speaker 3: with Jeremy Strong in The Apprentice. Yeah, it's funny. Two
- 22:08Speaker 3: dudes from Succession.
- 22:09Speaker 2: That is really great.
- 22:12Speaker 3: You know that movie was tough to watch, but he
- 22:17Speaker 3: was pretty pretty great and you could see they were
- 22:21Speaker 3: really going for let's see how Donald Trump became who
- 22:26Speaker 3: he was and that this guy was such a huge
- 22:30Speaker 3: influence on him. And I thought he was great.
- 22:33Speaker 2: No, he was really wonderful. Yeah. I liked that a
- 22:35Speaker 2: lot too.
- 22:36Speaker 3: That's all I got.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Ed Norton is Pete Seeger I thought was also wonderful.
- 22:41Speaker 2: He's always amazing, and that's why I think he won't
- 22:45Speaker 2: honestly like make a bigger push or anything, because he's
- 22:48Speaker 2: just always great. So it's like a little like, oh, yeah, okay, cool,
- 22:52Speaker 2: But man, I thought he was great even, just like
- 22:55Speaker 2: because you know, Pete was such like a hey, it's
- 22:57Speaker 2: cool man, you know, like his whole was just perfect.
- 23:01Speaker 2: I loved it.
- 23:01Speaker 3: And he had to do some singing and playing yeah too,
- 23:05Speaker 3: I thought, yeah, I'd never really heard him do anything
- 23:07Speaker 3: like that.
- 23:08Speaker 2: So it was cool. Also, we need Pezzeger. Petez Seeger
- 23:10Speaker 2: is gonna come around again, Okay because of the current
- 23:15Speaker 2: climate of the world.
- 23:16Speaker 3: By sure, you want to bring us to Best Actress,
- 23:20Speaker 3: do I ever? Our Best Actress nominees are Cynthia Revo
- 23:25Speaker 3: for Wicked Hell, Carla Sophia Gascon for Emelia Perez, Mikey
- 23:31Speaker 3: Madison for a Noura, Demi Moore for The Substance, and
- 23:35Speaker 3: Fernando Torres for I'm Still Here. I think Demi Moore
- 23:42Speaker 3: is going to get a legacy Award here. I wasn't
- 23:46Speaker 3: able to see Fernando Torres and I'm Still Here, which
- 23:49Speaker 3: I heard. She was fantastic in.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Saying that's my one that I didn't get. I just
- 23:54Speaker 2: I had a couple of shots and I just couldn't.
- 23:56Speaker 2: I couldn't compel myself.
- 23:58Speaker 3: They were only playing it in a couple of plays.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Is really weird times and yeah, that was.
- 24:05Speaker 3: So Yeah, I think I think, to me more, that's
- 24:07Speaker 3: who I'm gonna pick.
- 24:09Speaker 2: You know.
- 24:09Speaker 3: I thought Cynthia Revo was incredible and wicked, so I
- 24:15Speaker 3: would have probably I would have given this to Mikey
- 24:19Speaker 3: Madison and Anora. I guess she had to do so much.
- 24:24Speaker 3: She was definitely deserved for a nomination. She really carried
- 24:28Speaker 3: that film, and it's such a crazy film.
- 24:32Speaker 2: She had to do a lot, so much, she had
- 24:35Speaker 2: to amount, she had to like crazy sex scenes and
- 24:38Speaker 2: all that. Like, yeah, just so many things.
- 24:41Speaker 3: I think I think she would be the front runner
- 24:44Speaker 3: if it wasn't to me more, but I don't know.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I also picked to me, I think I would
- 24:50Speaker 2: love Cynthia Rebo to win. I think everyone did other
- 24:55Speaker 2: than I haven't seen I'm Still Here, Like we said,
- 24:58Speaker 2: so I don't know that she did, but I Fernanda
- 25:00Speaker 2: Tory as everyone is going crazy about, so I'm sure
- 25:04Speaker 2: it is also great.
- 25:06Speaker 3: She has a very big following on X everybody because
- 25:11Speaker 3: it's a Brazilian movie. The Brazilians are really just going
- 25:15Speaker 3: on and on. She's interesting, ever, so yeah, making a push.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and I honestly I agree everyone did great in
- 25:25Speaker 2: this Carlo Sophia Gascon. I mean a lot of controversy
- 25:29Speaker 2: around her right now.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Yeah, she's just like tweeting things that are bad. I
- 25:33Speaker 3: didn't really get into it.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Yeah, just doesn't have like the the general progressive you know,
- 25:41Speaker 2: Hollywood kind of stuff is not her deal. I forget, honest,
- 25:44Speaker 2: if I'm honest, I don't really remember even what.
- 25:47Speaker 3: I don't even know what the controversy is.
- 25:49Speaker 2: There is controversy around that stuff. I think she's talked
- 25:52Speaker 2: about maybe Palestine and Israel stuff too, which gets real murky.
- 25:57Speaker 2: And I don't have any answers about any that's you know,
- 26:02Speaker 2: but just not very welcoming to folks. So yeah, but
- 26:09Speaker 2: I thought she was awesome in that movie, like not
- 26:13Speaker 2: as a singer perhaps, but no everything else. But yeah,
- 26:19Speaker 2: well let's go to best actress then, Tour. I mean,
- 26:23Speaker 2: of course, yes, yes, I can scroll appropriately.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Adrian Brody from The Brutalist, Timothy Chalameat from a Complete Unknown,
- 26:33Speaker 4: Coleman Domingo from Sing Sing Ralph Fiennis Ray Fines from Conclave,
- 26:39Speaker 4: and then Sebastian Stan from The Apprentice.
- 26:44Speaker 3: I think totally redeemed yourself on The Apprentice right there
- 26:47Speaker 3: by the way, good job did I What did I do?
- 26:49Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you redeemed yourself totally.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Yeah. I think Adrian Brodie for The Brutalist is probably
- 26:57Speaker 2: gonna win this.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Uh.
- 27:01Speaker 2: I really want Coleman Domingo to win it, though, I
- 27:04Speaker 2: really get that.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Dude.
- 27:06Speaker 2: God, he was good in that movie.
- 27:07Speaker 3: He was so good. That was a great movie.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Again, this is pretty stacked with some great people. But
- 27:13Speaker 2: Adrian Brodie I think is going to win. I think
- 27:15Speaker 2: he was pretty great in that movie. Honestly, he's not
- 27:17Speaker 2: a character I like, which is always a little hard
- 27:20Speaker 2: for me to hear. That well, and speaking of Sebastian
- 27:24Speaker 2: Stan did a really good job. But also like that
- 27:27Speaker 2: yeah right, yeah, but yeah, Adrian Brodie, I think he
- 27:32Speaker 2: did a wonderful job in that because that's a real
- 27:35Speaker 2: and it's like seven hours long, so oh man, you
- 27:38Speaker 2: know that movie a lot of screen time. But yeah,
- 27:40Speaker 2: that's why I had who would you have for that one?
- 27:43Speaker 3: Well, Hollywood loves a biopic, and we've seen best actors
- 27:47Speaker 3: go to a lot of biopicks, So well you had
- 27:52Speaker 3: Jamie Fox, and Rae had Joaquin Fienix, Love Line, Ronnie
- 27:55Speaker 3: Mallick and Bohemian Rhapsody. But I used that exact same
- 27:59Speaker 3: logic years ago when Austin Butler was up for Elvis
- 28:03Speaker 3: and I got hosed for Brendan Fraser in the Whale.
- 28:09Speaker 3: So I'm not gonna get burned this time, and I'm
- 28:11Speaker 3: gonna guess that Adrian Brody you turn it around way.
- 28:17Speaker 2: I know, but.
- 28:20Speaker 3: I honestly think it's a coin flip between him and
- 28:23Speaker 3: Timothy Shallow.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Was awesome too, But he was so good.
- 28:27Speaker 3: He didn't like overdo the Bob Dylan like go like
- 28:32Speaker 3: way too intense because everybody always does a and he
- 28:38Speaker 3: was really subtle with it.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Had to do a lot been singing.
- 28:46Speaker 3: He had been practicing it sounds like for like five years.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Yeah, which is pretty cool.
- 28:51Speaker 3: So yeah, you see somebody put that much work into it,
- 28:54Speaker 3: and I mean he's gonna win an Academy Award at
- 28:56Speaker 3: some point. He's an incredible actor.
- 28:58Speaker 2: It's kind of surprising he hasn't.
- 29:01Speaker 3: I kind of That's what I'm almost wanting to pick
- 29:04Speaker 3: him right now because of that, because did win. So yeah,
- 29:14Speaker 3: I'm gonna go with Adrian Brody, but I want Timothy
- 29:17Speaker 3: shall Made to win.
- 29:18Speaker 2: I think that's inspired. Thank you.
- 29:22Speaker 3: So let's move on to Best Adapted Screenplay. We have
- 29:28Speaker 3: A Complete Unknown by James Mangold and Jay Cox. We
- 29:34Speaker 3: have Conclave by Peter Strawn, Amelia Perez by Jacques add
- 29:42Speaker 3: with some other folks. We got Nickel Boys screenplay by
- 29:46Speaker 3: Ramel Ross and Joslyn Barnes. Then we got Sing Sing,
- 29:51Speaker 3: which I love that that was the real thing that happened.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Cool.
- 29:58Speaker 3: So everything that I've read is pointing to our Conclave
- 30:00Speaker 3: winning Best adapt at Screenplay. I really think all of
- 30:04Speaker 3: these films have a good chance.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:06Speaker 3: I was really impressed with how they shot Nickel Boys
- 30:09Speaker 3: and have it all from the main character's point of view.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Super interesting, Yeah, super interesting. I thought Sing Sing was
- 30:16Speaker 3: a pretty amazing story led by Coleman Domingo, but Conclave
- 30:22Speaker 3: was also great. So I'm gonna go with what I've read.
- 30:24Speaker 3: I'm gonna go with Conclave.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm kind of doing the same thing Conclave. I
- 30:30Speaker 2: would I think I would like it if Sing Sing
- 30:32Speaker 2: won the most out of the rest of them.
- 30:35Speaker 3: But yeah, I'm kind of with you.
- 30:36Speaker 2: I'm not mad about any of it, right, like, if
- 30:38Speaker 2: any of that happens, right, Yeah, that's pretty great, so nice.
- 30:44Speaker 2: I love that. I think we've agreed on almost everything.
- 30:47Speaker 3: So every single thing, not almost single Well, that make
- 30:51Speaker 3: things interesting.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Well, either it either means Rob You're gonna do a
- 30:55Speaker 2: lot worse this year or I'm gonna do a lot
- 30:56Speaker 2: better this year. There's no in between. All Right, let's
- 31:02Speaker 2: go to Best Original Screenplay now. Sorry, I'm just navigating
- 31:07Speaker 2: over because I like that you had their names. I
- 31:09Speaker 2: should have done that, so Anora. Nominees for this are Anora,
- 31:12Speaker 2: Sean Baker, Sean Baker four and Noura Brady Corbett and
- 31:17Speaker 2: Mona Fastfold for the Brutalist, Jesse Eisenberg for Real Pain,
- 31:23Speaker 2: Cora Lee is it for yet Forget?
- 31:28Speaker 3: I'm not sure either the.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Substance the substance, And then Moritz Binder, Tim Fell Boum,
- 31:36Speaker 2: and Alex David for September five, Which did you see September.
- 31:41Speaker 2: It looks compelling, it looks good. Yeah, I really want
- 31:44Speaker 2: to see it. I'm interested, and I think this is
- 31:47Speaker 2: like one of the only things it's up for, right
- 31:49Speaker 2: is uh yeah, is screenplay, So that's interesting. But no,
- 31:54Speaker 2: I haven't had did you see You haven't seen it either?
- 31:56Speaker 3: Then no, no, no, I just saw a trailer for right.
- 32:00Speaker 3: I just wasn't able to get it in before this,
- 32:02Speaker 3: But sure, I'm going to definitely try and see it
- 32:04Speaker 3: before the awards.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Yeah. Same here, same here. I think I feel like
- 32:09Speaker 2: I read and this kind of makes sense to me.
- 32:11Speaker 2: I think Nora is going to win this one because
- 32:15Speaker 2: I just think Anora is gonna do great and it's
- 32:17Speaker 2: it is a really compelling idea for a screenplay because
- 32:20Speaker 2: it's a little out there, right, like it's a, you know,
- 32:24Speaker 2: a different kind of story. I think I would like
- 32:27Speaker 2: if The Substance won, though, because I thought that was
- 32:29Speaker 2: really an inventive idea, which I really I liked. I mean,
- 32:35Speaker 2: I I don't love the entire movie as we've talked about,
- 32:38Speaker 2: but but man, it was it was really a cool
- 32:41Speaker 2: idea and they pulled it off really well. So but
- 32:44Speaker 2: I'm going to take out or for this one. What
- 32:45Speaker 2: are you taking?
- 32:48Speaker 3: We are again? Oh? No, in lockstep? Yes, we are
- 32:51Speaker 3: right there. I also didn't see September fifth. I kind
- 32:55Speaker 3: of thought the substance had a good shot here. Yeah,
- 32:59Speaker 3: it's gonna take sure stuff. But yeah, I noor. The
- 33:03Speaker 3: fact it was so funny with all the drama centered
- 33:06Speaker 3: around it was really impressive. So I'm right there with you, dude.
- 33:11Speaker 2: We do not have.
- 33:13Speaker 3: One that's different yet, which is crazy.
- 33:16Speaker 2: I feel like that's got to change, right, or I'll
- 33:17Speaker 2: just start picking what I think will win rather than.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Right, we'll see. We'll see here with the best animated features. Yeah,
- 33:27Speaker 3: we had Flow, Inside Out, to Memoir of a Snail,
- 33:34Speaker 3: Wallace and Grammet, Vengeance, Most Foul, and The Wild Robot.
- 33:39Speaker 3: I only saw two of the five nominees here. I
- 33:42Speaker 3: kind of reposer.
- 33:44Speaker 2: I just watched the last one last night, so.
- 33:48Speaker 3: So yeah, I've only seen Inside Out two in the
- 33:49Speaker 3: Wild Robot, I think either of those films could win,
- 33:53Speaker 3: and I think Flow won the Golden Globe. But I'm
- 33:57Speaker 3: gonna go and give this one of the Wild Robot.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Pretty beautiful store.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Yeah, really good. I picked that both for for both
- 34:04Speaker 2: I wanted to win and I think it will win.
- 34:07Speaker 2: I will say Inside Out too was great, and we've
- 34:09Speaker 2: talked about that. I just think for whatever reason, those
- 34:13Speaker 2: Pixar ones get kind of overlooked now. I don't know why.
- 34:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't get that at all.
- 34:20Speaker 2: And I watched Flow last night and I really liked it. Yeah.
- 34:24Speaker 3: I checked the trailer out and my kids noticed it
- 34:30Speaker 3: said adult animation. They were like, I don't think we
- 34:33Speaker 3: can watch this. So I was like, all right, I'll wait.
- 34:35Speaker 2: They definitely good. I don't know that they would look
- 34:38Speaker 2: of it. There's there's no speaking in it at all.
- 34:41Speaker 2: That was one thing we noticed. We're like, it's very so,
- 34:45Speaker 2: and not to say they wouldn't like it, but I
- 34:47Speaker 2: don't know. It would be interesting to know what they
- 34:49Speaker 2: thought of it. I really thought it was. It was interesting.
- 34:52Speaker 2: It helped my attention the whole time. And for an
- 34:55Speaker 2: animated movie that has no you know, like speaking in it,
- 34:58Speaker 2: I think that's really cool and good for them. So yeah, sure,
- 35:02Speaker 2: the Wild Robot, I'm with you where we match again?
- 35:06Speaker 3: This is crazy.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Cool.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Why don't hit us up with Best Original Song?
- 35:10Speaker 2: That's right, it's my turn Best Original Song. The nominees
- 35:13Speaker 2: are el Mall for Amelia Perez, the Journey, six Triple
- 35:18Speaker 2: eight Like a Bird from Sing Sing Me Camino from
- 35:22Speaker 2: Amelia Perez again, and Never Too Late from Elton John.
- 35:28Speaker 2: It's all it says, which I assume is that a documentary.
- 35:30Speaker 3: It was called Never Too Late.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Yeah, oh the actual thing, okay, and Elton John wrote it.
- 35:35Speaker 2: I probably should have said who wrote all those as well,
- 35:38Speaker 2: but it was.
- 35:38Speaker 3: A lot of folks.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Yeah, go check it out. I picked Elton John Never
- 35:44Speaker 2: Too Late because I believe it was him and Brandy
- 35:47Speaker 2: Carlisle honestly, the only reason other than I don't like
- 35:52Speaker 2: the song from Emilia Perez. I don't remember like a Bird,
- 35:56Speaker 2: and I never saw six two from it from me
- 36:01Speaker 2: and they, I just don't. I don't know. Yeah, they're fine,
- 36:04Speaker 2: but I never saw six Triple eight.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Either, so I didn't either.
- 36:08Speaker 2: I don't know that. So I was like, ah, best
- 36:10Speaker 2: original song, let's go with Elton John. I don't know.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Yeah, all I had. I totally feel you and I
- 36:17Speaker 3: want the Elton John one to win, but I saw
- 36:21Speaker 3: that Elle mall Is is kind of the favorite, but
- 36:27Speaker 3: I would be so happy. Brandy Carlisle the one Where's
- 36:32Speaker 3: That's really sad? And singing about no it is it's
- 36:37Speaker 3: this crazy. It's the crazy scene where Zoe Saldania is
- 36:44Speaker 3: singing and dancing in between like that whatever no no, no,
- 36:49Speaker 3: in the entire like crowd that's in like a big
- 36:54Speaker 3: ballroom and they're all frozen while she's singing and dancing
- 36:57Speaker 3: around them, and she's like it, it's not that great
- 37:01Speaker 3: of a song. It's more impressive what she's able to
- 37:05Speaker 3: do with the acting in her movements. I was not
- 37:10Speaker 3: that impressed with the song, but it is. It is
- 37:12Speaker 3: the front runner, so I'm gonna go with it because
- 37:14Speaker 3: I don't really know any of the other ones.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Well, I hate it all right, great, yeah, well we
- 37:20Speaker 2: have a difference.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Though I thought it would. The one that could get
- 37:24Speaker 3: nominated for that movie is when they're kind of going
- 37:27Speaker 3: back and forth and it's like a power ballance. That
- 37:30Speaker 3: was like the only.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Cool.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Neither one of that one was not nominal, and they were.
- 37:36Speaker 2: I think it's because they were acting more than anything
- 37:39Speaker 2: in that too.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Maybe I don't know, that's weird.
- 37:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, well I guess that does it for that.
- 37:46Speaker 3: You want to hit us with best international films, I
- 37:49Speaker 3: do from Brazil. We have I'm still here from Denmark,
- 37:53Speaker 3: we have The Girl with the Needle. From France, we
- 37:56Speaker 3: have Amelia Perez. From Germany, we have The Seed of
- 38:00Speaker 3: the Sacred fig and from Latvia we have Flow. And
- 38:06Speaker 3: it seems like Amelia Perez is the front runner here.
- 38:09Speaker 3: But I've also heard that I'm Still Here was really good.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Yeah, sot between because I.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Wasn't super into Amelia Perez. I'm gonna go with I'm
- 38:17Speaker 3: Still Here. Uh, that's it. That's all I have. I
- 38:21Speaker 3: haven't even seen it, but I'm going to pick that.
- 38:24Speaker 2: I'm gonna pick Amelia Perez because I think that we'll win.
- 38:28Speaker 2: So another two different ones. That's good, But I would
- 38:31Speaker 2: really like it to Flow one because I thought that
- 38:33Speaker 2: movie was very, very sweet and compelling.
- 38:35Speaker 3: Cool.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Uh and again I yeah, I know, we both said it,
- 38:40Speaker 2: but Amelia Prez such an interesting story and then they
- 38:44Speaker 2: just they kind of wrecked part of it for me. Yeah,
- 38:47Speaker 2: so they'll get something out of it. Let's do best
- 38:50Speaker 2: documentary short subject, everyone's favorite catalog category catalog too, maybe
- 38:56Speaker 2: Death by Numbers, I Am Ready Warden and Instruments of
- 39:01Speaker 2: a Beating Heart and the Only Girl in the Orchestra.
- 39:05Speaker 2: I picked I Am Ready Warden, big fan of commas,
- 39:09Speaker 2: so that was big basically the big reason I picked that. Uh,
- 39:13Speaker 2: and I really want the only girl on the orchestra
- 39:15Speaker 2: to win. For no particular reason, I didn't see it.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Yeah about I am also picking I am ready warden
- 39:24Speaker 3: because that is the front run.
- 39:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that one especially, I was like, I haven't seen it.
- 39:28Speaker 2: It is I guess I'll just look at what other
- 39:30Speaker 2: people are thinking.
- 39:31Speaker 3: I don't say, uh, this next one isn't as like
- 39:37Speaker 3: they don't have a serious front runner. We have Best
- 39:41Speaker 3: Documentary Feature. I mean there's it's between two, it seems like.
- 39:45Speaker 3: So for best Documentary Feature, we have black Box Diaries,
- 39:49Speaker 3: No Other Land, Porcelain War, soundtrack to a Coup d'eta,
- 39:56Speaker 3: and Sugar Cane. I saw zero of these. I usually
- 40:01Speaker 3: see one or two.
- 40:02Speaker 2: I know I didn't see any of them. I know
- 40:05Speaker 2: they need to make these easier to see, like the
- 40:07Speaker 2: agreed the short and I feel like I would watch
- 40:10Speaker 2: all these if.
- 40:11Speaker 3: They their own streaming service, Academy Award streaming service.
- 40:18Speaker 2: You want to get nominated, you have to let us
- 40:19Speaker 2: show this on this thing or whatever.
- 40:22Speaker 3: Yeah, that's probably a nightmare with all the work, but
- 40:26Speaker 3: it wouldn't work. But but I wish it was a thing.
- 40:31Speaker 3: So yeah, I saw it was kind of between No
- 40:32Speaker 3: Other Land and porcelaind war and I'm taking No Other Land,
- 40:37Speaker 3: dang it.
- 40:37Speaker 2: That's what I picked too, for no real reason either.
- 40:40Speaker 3: So cool.
- 40:41Speaker 2: All right, Well let's go to best production design. We
- 40:45Speaker 2: have for this category, the Brutalist Conclave Dune Part two,
- 40:51Speaker 2: No Spatu and Wicked, and I picked and want Wicked
- 40:56Speaker 2: to win.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Same.
- 40:59Speaker 2: It's just so great, and I thought they really did
- 41:02Speaker 2: a great job of It's so vibrant, this world they
- 41:05Speaker 2: created all, you know, everything in it. I just really
- 41:09Speaker 2: like it so and it's different, right, So I just
- 41:11Speaker 2: thought that was neat. But I really thought they made
- 41:13Speaker 2: all come alive. I think they also did that for
- 41:16Speaker 2: Dune obviously, but I I feel like June Part one
- 41:20Speaker 2: had its sort of day in the sun, so people
- 41:23Speaker 2: will maybe ignore that. I don't know, but you know,
- 41:26Speaker 2: I don't really know what goes into this one, if
- 41:28Speaker 2: I'm completely honest.
- 41:29Speaker 3: So Wicked, Yeah, Wicked, I the exact same thing. Okay,
- 41:35Speaker 3: I would be super happy if Dune Part two one
- 41:37Speaker 3: is one.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Cool.
- 41:40Speaker 3: Well, let's move on to cinematography. We have the Brutalist Lol, Crawley,
- 41:47Speaker 3: Dune Part two, Grieg Fraser, Amelia Perez, Paul Gillum, Maria
- 41:54Speaker 3: ed Lachman, and knows Faratu jarin Blashkey. I think because
- 42:01Speaker 3: Greg Fraser won for Dune Part one, that they're gonna
- 42:04Speaker 3: give Lol Crawley the Oscar for The Brutalist.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Nice.
- 42:08Speaker 3: I did not see Maria or ness Ferratu, which I
- 42:11Speaker 3: feel bad about. But The Brutalist was shot beautifully. The
- 42:17Speaker 3: fact that I was into that movie for three and
- 42:19Speaker 3: a half hours, yeah, means that the filmmaking was great.
- 42:24Speaker 3: I give a lot of that to how it was shot,
- 42:28Speaker 3: keeping me entertained for that long. So yeah, I'm gonna
- 42:32Speaker 3: I'm gonna go with Lol Crawley and yeah, I mean
- 42:35Speaker 3: that's a lot of coverage. That is a long, long film.
- 42:39Speaker 2: So much, right, so much. I also picked The Brutalist,
- 42:44Speaker 2: so we match on that one, and I think I
- 42:47Speaker 2: want that one to win too, Although I will say no,
- 42:50Speaker 2: Sparratu has great cinematography. You went and saw it, Yeah,
- 42:55Speaker 2: I did see it. I don't I didn't really like it,
- 42:58Speaker 2: to be honest. It you know, it's a horror movie anyway.
- 43:01Speaker 3: But like it just Dinegger's creeps me out, bro it didn't.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I just didn't do anything for me.
- 43:10Speaker 2: I don't know why. But it is beautiful shot.
- 43:13Speaker 3: He has a very like particular vibe. Yeah, and it's
- 43:18Speaker 3: always just makes puts me off a bit like it
- 43:22Speaker 3: makes me feel great.
- 43:23Speaker 2: I don't like it. I'm with you. Yeah, I don't know.
- 43:26Speaker 2: It's you know, some people really really like it. I presume,
- 43:30Speaker 2: but yeah, I don't whatever, but uh, you might really
- 43:35Speaker 2: like it if you listener. If you want to go
- 43:36Speaker 2: see that, go check it out one for.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Me, check it out. But but I would be super
- 43:40Speaker 3: excited if Greek Phraser won again for doing part two.
- 43:43Speaker 3: Hell yeah, that movie was insane.
- 43:45Speaker 2: The only thing I thought was like so much there's
- 43:48Speaker 2: so much computer animation in that that like, maybe you
- 43:52Speaker 2: lose a few points for that. Again, I don't without
- 43:55Speaker 2: really knowing what goes into it, because there might be
- 43:59Speaker 2: in The Brutalist too. I don't really think there is,
- 44:01Speaker 2: but there might be. I don't know. But yeah, yeah,
- 44:03Speaker 2: I wouldn't be mad about that for show. Let's do
- 44:07Speaker 2: best costume design. The movies we have for this are
- 44:10Speaker 2: A complete Unknown, Conclave, Gladiator two No Saratu, and Wicked
- 44:18Speaker 2: Wiki ah, and I picked no Satu for this one.
- 44:22Speaker 2: They love a period piece number one.
- 44:24Speaker 3: That's true, and it is true.
- 44:25Speaker 2: There's some pretty great costumes in this that I thought
- 44:29Speaker 2: were really really cool. So yeah, I picked up is
- 44:33Speaker 2: that a different one?
- 44:34Speaker 3: That is a different one?
- 44:35Speaker 2: Love?
- 44:36Speaker 3: We have three different ones so far. I kind of
- 44:38Speaker 3: thought it was between Wicked and Gladiator two. I was
- 44:41Speaker 3: thinking Gladiator two for the period piece. Like you're saying, oh,
- 44:44Speaker 3: great point, but I'm gonna give it to Wicked.
- 44:48Speaker 2: I have no complaints about that. I thought their production
- 44:51Speaker 2: and costumes were wonderful in that movie, so kind of
- 44:55Speaker 2: the same thing as before, right, like really beautiful, vibrant,
- 44:58Speaker 2: yea cool. Yeah, I'm with you.
- 45:00Speaker 3: And Gladiator two that was probably the best part of
- 45:02Speaker 3: that movie. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's not a bad movie.
- 45:07Speaker 2: It's not bad. I had fun.
- 45:08Speaker 3: But that's a big party.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it's certainly no Gladiator one.
- 45:13Speaker 3: No, I had a lot to live up too, for sure. Well,
- 45:17Speaker 3: let's move on to best sound. We have a complete
- 45:20Speaker 3: Unknown Dune Part two, Amelia Perez, Wicked and the Wild Robot.
- 45:27Speaker 3: Let's give Wicked another one. I'm giving it to Wicked.
- 45:30Speaker 3: Let's get some best sound. That's all I got.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Yeah, uh, yeah, I'm wondering if I should switch min
- 45:39Speaker 2: because I don't really feel as strongly as I did
- 45:41Speaker 2: about it last night.
- 45:43Speaker 3: I don't feel super strongly.
- 45:45Speaker 2: I feel like a number of these could win. I'm
- 45:47Speaker 2: gonna pick du in Part two. That's what I wrote down.
- 45:49Speaker 3: I could absolutely see that sound.
- 45:50Speaker 2: For that was just really great, like we've said before,
- 45:53Speaker 2: so like vast and I.
- 45:56Speaker 3: Think it's between those two.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, shout out to complete don't know. And I
- 46:00Speaker 2: just thought, like the all the songs in that sound,
- 46:02Speaker 2: it's so great that that's amazing. But you could say
- 46:05Speaker 2: the same about Wicked, So yeah, I don't know. I'm
- 46:08Speaker 2: not mad about any of those winning. I think you're
- 46:11Speaker 2: right though, it's between Dune and Wicked, I'd think, yeah.
- 46:15Speaker 2: I just think those the movies that are so closely
- 46:19Speaker 2: tied to each other, like Dune and One Part one
- 46:21Speaker 2: and Part two. If the first one gets a bunch
- 46:24Speaker 2: of buzz, the second one, I feel like usually doesn't,
- 46:27Speaker 2: or vice versa, you know, so I.
- 46:29Speaker 3: Can see them totally.
- 46:30Speaker 2: Who knows though, but yeah, so uh we're getting into
- 46:34Speaker 2: the big ones now. Best animated short beautiful men in
- 46:42Speaker 2: the Shadow of the Cypress, Magic candles, Wander to Wonder.
- 46:48Speaker 3: And yuck, yuck. I think it's magic candies.
- 46:53Speaker 2: Oh is it really?
- 46:55Speaker 3: I think you know what?
- 46:55Speaker 2: I wrote down candies originally, and I was like, oh,
- 46:57Speaker 2: I must have misspelled candles. What a cool Well this
- 47:02Speaker 2: is embarrassing because that's the one I picked to win. Uh, candies.
- 47:07Speaker 3: I love candy, I mean candle.
- 47:10Speaker 2: Candies and candles. Really, I'm in for both. Yeah, I can.
- 47:16Speaker 2: If I could see all these, I would maybe have
- 47:19Speaker 2: more of opinion, but I don't.
- 47:20Speaker 3: So yeah, I have no idea either. Real well, I
- 47:25Speaker 3: mean that's what it looks like on here.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Here's probably right, bud.
- 47:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I got nothing. I'm going to pick Wander to
- 47:32Speaker 3: Wonder because I like alliteration. I love it, you know,
- 47:40Speaker 3: that's all I got looking to see.
- 47:41Speaker 2: If it's candies, it is candies.
- 47:44Speaker 3: Candy even more reason and I should have known.
- 47:47Speaker 2: But yeah, so candies obviously the.
- 47:49Speaker 3: One different one. I love it. I love different. Yeah,
- 47:53Speaker 3: live action short, we have a lean a new huh,
- 47:58Speaker 3: I'm not a robot. The Last Ranger and the man
- 48:02Speaker 3: who could not remain silent. I think we all know
- 48:07Speaker 3: the man who could not remain silent gets the win.
- 48:10Speaker 3: Everybody's been talking about it. That's the buzz everyone I
- 48:14Speaker 3: picked Anusia.
- 48:16Speaker 2: I don't know anything about any of these.
- 48:18Speaker 3: I don't know if that's how I went with a
- 48:20Speaker 3: new hat, A new hat, A new Yeah, I don't know.
- 48:25Speaker 3: I don't know. Yogging, I yogging?
- 48:29Speaker 2: Yeah, but okay, cool, I knew you would correct my pronunciation.
- 48:37Speaker 2: I'm sorry to everyone that probably puts so much time
- 48:39Speaker 2: and effort into those categories.
- 48:41Speaker 3: No, we're sorry. There's only so many things you can watch.
- 48:45Speaker 2: Sorry, Best original score though from this one we have
- 48:49Speaker 2: the Brutalist, Conclave, Amelia Perez, Wicked, and the Wild Robot. Ah.
- 48:57Speaker 2: And I picked the Brutalist because I actually thought the
- 48:59Speaker 2: score in that I think it is getting some buzz
- 49:02Speaker 2: that it might win too, but it is. Yeah, I
- 49:04Speaker 2: remember being like, I really like this. This score a lot,
- 49:07Speaker 2: like it's very It goes a lot of places. There's
- 49:10Speaker 2: a lot of like sort of vista moments, whether it's
- 49:14Speaker 2: inside a building or in an actual vista where it's
- 49:18Speaker 2: just like score playing over top of that, And I
- 49:20Speaker 2: really like that. So yeah, I picked the Brutalist.
- 49:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it definitely sounds like it's the front Runner, with
- 49:27Speaker 3: Conclave shortly behind.
- 49:31Speaker 1: It was.
- 49:33Speaker 3: I definitely noticed that throughout it. Now that composer who
- 49:36Speaker 3: did Conclave is a Vulcar Bertleman, and he won two
- 49:40Speaker 3: years ago for All Quiet on the Western Front A
- 49:44Speaker 3: BEAUTIFU lovely.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Yeah, that was super super cool.
- 49:47Speaker 3: So I think Daniel Bloomberg or Bloomberg he's gonna get
- 49:51Speaker 3: his first Oscar win for the Brutalist. I'm with you,
- 49:54Speaker 3: love it nice, but I wouldn't be mad if if
- 49:57Speaker 3: Vulcar Bertleman wins again.
- 49:59Speaker 2: And the Wild Rubbi Great has some great scoring.
- 50:03Speaker 3: Wicked, wicked, It's always good. And we had our guy,
- 50:05Speaker 3: Stephen Schwartz. That's the only name I really knew out
- 50:08Speaker 3: of all those folks.
- 50:09Speaker 2: So nice wouldn't be mad at that either. And Emilia
- 50:12Speaker 2: Press probably had nice meeting. I don't know. I was
- 50:15Speaker 2: so thrown off by the singing I didn't pay attention.
- 50:17Speaker 2: I guess no, no, this is me.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Let's do best visual effects Alien Romulus, which I never saw.
- 50:28Speaker 3: Still pretty mad about that. I need to check that
- 50:30Speaker 3: out better man. Also have not seen Dune part two.
- 50:37Speaker 3: Loved that movie bro Kingdom of the Plan of the Apes,
- 50:40Speaker 3: which I also did not see. And Wicked. Dune Part
- 50:46Speaker 3: two is my favorite film last year and had a
- 50:48Speaker 3: lot to do with the incredible visual effects. Going to
- 50:50Speaker 3: give this one to.
- 50:51Speaker 2: Them, same, Yeah, I picked the same cool. Yeah. I
- 50:57Speaker 2: don't know that I have much other commentary on that
- 51:01Speaker 2: any of them could win, probably, but yeah, that they
- 51:04Speaker 2: just did so many weird, cool things with all the
- 51:06Speaker 2: dude and stuff.
- 51:07Speaker 3: If you're going to ride a sandworm, you're gonna win
- 51:10Speaker 3: best visual fests for real, real, That's all.
- 51:13Speaker 2: There is to it. I love that. It's great reasoning.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Let's go to best film editing for this one. We
- 51:19Speaker 2: have a Noora, the Brutalist Conclave, Amelia Perez and Wicked
- 51:25Speaker 2: and then probably should have wrote all those people's names down,
- 51:27Speaker 2: but I didn't.
- 51:29Speaker 3: It's all good.
- 51:30Speaker 2: Ah, editing is one. I feel like I need a
- 51:34Speaker 2: short film on what that means and what makes it
- 51:39Speaker 2: really good editing other than a few years ago we
- 51:42Speaker 2: did the was it Ford Versus Ferrari where we were
- 51:45Speaker 2: like they made that so exciting, like that was cool.
- 51:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:50Speaker 2: I picked a Nora for this one because I thought
- 51:53Speaker 2: there was so much comedy in it that I felt
- 51:55Speaker 2: like they had to probably massage some things with editing
- 51:58Speaker 2: to make that work, and at the very least they
- 52:01Speaker 2: didn't get in the way any of these could win.
- 52:04Speaker 2: I don't really know, but I picked a Nora.
- 52:06Speaker 3: I also picked Nora out, and honestly, I'm surprised the
- 52:10Speaker 3: Brutalist is here for best editing editing did they edit anyway?
- 52:13Speaker 3: Did we cut of a three and a half hour movie?
- 52:16Speaker 2: What did we cut? That's a great point, but it does.
- 52:20Speaker 3: Seem like this one is kind of the most up
- 52:21Speaker 3: in the air, like a Nora, the Brutalist and Conclave
- 52:25Speaker 3: seemed to all be kind of right around the same
- 52:28Speaker 3: for favorites.
- 52:29Speaker 2: I guess you could talk me into Conclave because that
- 52:31Speaker 2: there's not a lot happening in that other than like
- 52:34Speaker 2: the intrigue, and they're cool and they you know, I
- 52:38Speaker 2: don't know.
- 52:38Speaker 3: I felt like they trimmed all the fat on that one.
- 52:41Speaker 3: You know, it's not like, yeah, I was like, all right,
- 52:43Speaker 3: let's keep going, you know.
- 52:46Speaker 2: So yeah, interesting, we.
- 52:48Speaker 3: Got the same on that one again. Let's go to
- 52:51Speaker 3: makeup and hairstyling. I bet we get the same on
- 52:53Speaker 3: this as well.
- 52:54Speaker 2: I think so too.
- 52:55Speaker 3: There's a different man. Amelia Perez nos Feratu, The substance
- 53:00Speaker 3: and Wicked. Uh, the Substance really relied on the makeup
- 53:04Speaker 3: in this one, and I'm going to give them the.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Oscar so we don't have the same ones. I think
- 53:10Speaker 2: the Substance is wonderful as far as makeup. I'm with you.
- 53:15Speaker 2: There was a character who had green skin the entire
- 53:18Speaker 2: film and it's and it's makeup. So I'm picking that
- 53:22Speaker 2: because I thought she looked so great too. The Substance
- 53:25Speaker 2: did as well, so obviously, like dude, now I'm not
- 53:28Speaker 2: mad at either.
- 53:28Speaker 3: That whole third act, well in the second Yeah.
- 53:31Speaker 2: It's crazy. I'm with you, but man, I just I
- 53:36Speaker 2: thought the makeup was so good for Wicked.
- 53:40Speaker 3: I mean I would be happy with that one.
- 53:41Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm gonna pick that and I'll take my
- 53:45Speaker 2: loss like a chance.
- 53:47Speaker 3: That monster in the Substance, so oh my, I'm gonna
- 53:50Speaker 3: think about that.
- 53:50Speaker 2: I like all the like back stuff and the just
- 53:54Speaker 2: the body the body horror stuff, and you're probably right,
- 53:58Speaker 2: it's probably the Substance. I'm still gonna pick Wicket, but
- 54:01Speaker 2: I think you're did you see a different man by
- 54:03Speaker 2: the way, No, I didn't. That's this that was also
- 54:06Speaker 2: Sebastian Stan right, yeah.
- 54:08Speaker 3: Yeah, and it sounds like, I don't know what the
- 54:11Speaker 3: term is, but he has a very large face.
- 54:15Speaker 2: I don't know what that is.
- 54:16Speaker 3: It's all like prosthetics, the kind of stuff exactly exactly. So,
- 54:23Speaker 3: I mean that looked pretty impressive too. Definitely surprised.
- 54:26Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 54:28Speaker 3: Now we got the big ones. Now we're going for
- 54:31Speaker 3: Best Director. Yeah, and uh we have Sean Baker for
- 54:36Speaker 3: a Nora, Brady Corbett for the Brutalist, James Mangold for
- 54:41Speaker 3: a complete unknown, Jacques Aldielle for Amelia Perez, and Coralie
- 54:48Speaker 3: Fargiet for the Substance. It seems like this is kind
- 54:54Speaker 3: of a two man race between Sean Baker for Anora
- 54:56Speaker 3: and Brady Corbett for the Brutalist.
- 54:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:59Speaker 3: I mean, I I know Brady Corbett won the Golden Globe.
- 55:03Speaker 3: Oh okay, but I think I'm gonna go for Shawn
- 55:06Speaker 3: Baker for Anora here. It's honestly what I preferred more
- 55:13Speaker 3: and I could be wrong. They could go with the
- 55:15Speaker 3: Golden Globe whinner Brady Corbett, but I'm gonna pick a
- 55:19Speaker 3: Nora Seawan Baker.
- 55:20Speaker 2: We are the same on that one. I picked a
- 55:22Speaker 2: Sean Baker for an Aura as well. I just I
- 55:25Speaker 2: think to be able to do a movie that has
- 55:29Speaker 2: all these different levels of emotion is really impressive. And
- 55:36Speaker 2: not that the Brutalists didn't have some moments of levity,
- 55:39Speaker 2: because they had a few, but it certainly wasn't as
- 55:42Speaker 2: funny as Honora was in parts. To me anyway, no,
- 55:45Speaker 2: nowhere near. Yeah, so yeah, I'm gonna take that. I'm
- 55:48Speaker 2: with you.
- 55:49Speaker 3: I like it cool.
- 55:50Speaker 2: That's a tough one, though, because I could see The
- 55:52Speaker 2: Substance winning too, And this is a weird like whatever
- 55:56Speaker 2: you think will win Best Picture usually also so you know, right,
- 56:01Speaker 2: like right, which not always, not always, certainly not always.
- 56:06Speaker 2: But yeah, well let's go into Best Picture. Now. We
- 56:10Speaker 2: have the Best Picture nominees are Anora, The Brutalist, A
- 56:14Speaker 2: Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune Part Two, Amelia Perez, I'm Still Here,
- 56:22Speaker 2: Nickel Boys, The Substance.
- 56:24Speaker 3: And Wicked Boom.
- 56:28Speaker 2: I I don't know even what I want to win, honestly,
- 56:33Speaker 2: but I kept reading everywhere that Honora is probably the
- 56:37Speaker 2: front runner, and so I just ended up picking that.
- 56:40Speaker 2: I did like that movie. Is it a Best Picture winner?
- 56:44Speaker 2: I don't know? But what does that mean? So it's
- 56:49Speaker 2: super hard? I don't know.
- 56:52Speaker 3: I feel maybe I want.
- 56:53Speaker 2: Wicked to win just because that was the movie I
- 56:56Speaker 2: enjoyed the most or thought was the most impressive or something.
- 56:59Speaker 2: But yeah, again, the follow up might win next year,
- 57:03Speaker 2: so that is, you know, a thing that might happen.
- 57:06Speaker 2: But yeah, I picked a Nora. What did you pick
- 57:09Speaker 2: for this one?
- 57:11Speaker 3: I picked a Nora as well.
- 57:13Speaker 2: We we picked.
- 57:13Speaker 3: We really were right next to each other with all
- 57:16Speaker 3: the main like the big main categories, because I didn't
- 57:21Speaker 3: have any.
- 57:21Speaker 2: Like hard opinions this year that were different.
- 57:25Speaker 3: Well maybe so I saw nine of the ten, same
- 57:27Speaker 3: as you, because you didn't see I'm still here as well.
- 57:31Speaker 3: Like I said, Doom Part two is my favorite film.
- 57:34Speaker 3: And I think it's a shame that Denny is not
- 57:38Speaker 3: up for Best Director.
- 57:40Speaker 2: Did he win last year?
- 57:42Speaker 3: No, he didn't win.
- 57:43Speaker 2: No, No, was he even up. I don't even remember.
- 57:48Speaker 3: I don't. I don't think he was up.
- 57:50Speaker 2: That's dumb. He made both those movies and didn't even
- 57:53Speaker 2: get up. That's that's a travesty.
- 57:55Speaker 3: Yeah, so oh yeah, yeah, I would have certainly done
- 58:00Speaker 3: that over over Amelia Perez. Yeah, but that's me. But yeah,
- 58:08Speaker 3: I'm gonna give it to a Nora. I would be
- 58:11Speaker 3: super happy if Wicked one. I would be super happy
- 58:13Speaker 3: if doing part two to one.
- 58:16Speaker 2: Yeah, damn, Deny, you didn't even get nominated last year.
- 58:20Speaker 3: Yeah, so he's so good man, Yeah, but sorry, I
- 58:25Speaker 3: kind of think it's a coin flip between Honora and
- 58:28Speaker 3: the Brutalist.
- 58:29Speaker 2: Really, yeah, I think Emilia pres had gotten better pub
- 58:33Speaker 2: maybe you know, I don't know. Yeah, that movie is
- 58:38Speaker 2: just so weird, I want to be clear, very polarizing.
- 58:42Speaker 2: The trans part of this movie is not the part
- 58:44Speaker 2: that either of us says, any him a little bit, like,
- 58:48Speaker 2: I know, I know, no one probably thinks that. I
- 58:51Speaker 2: thought that, like, the story was really compelling, and then
- 58:54Speaker 2: they just wrapped it in the weirdest It was like
- 58:57Speaker 2: a hot dog wrapped in cotton candy or some thing,
- 59:00Speaker 2: like why did.
- 59:01Speaker 1: We do this?
- 59:01Speaker 2: I don't understand.
- 59:03Speaker 3: I would try that.
- 59:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I would too. I should have thought up a
- 59:06Speaker 2: better example. Yeah, worse one gotten candy wrapped in bacon. No,
- 59:11Speaker 2: I'm me in again, damn it, man, No, I'm just hungry,
- 59:15Speaker 2: but I gotta call.
- 59:17Speaker 1: Uh.
- 59:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know, I don't know. There's some great
- 59:21Speaker 2: movies though, I don't.
- 59:22Speaker 3: Know there are. Yeah, it was it was a tough year,
- 59:26Speaker 3: and I'm glad I ended up getting to see so many.
- 59:30Speaker 2: I had to really cram the last like saying, I
- 59:33Speaker 2: expected to like Nickel Boys more than I did. Even
- 59:36Speaker 2: though I thought it was good, it just didn't the
- 59:40Speaker 2: thing you think because you read it too correct.
- 59:42Speaker 3: Yes, so the thing like you. I was wondering how
- 59:47Speaker 3: they were going to make Nickel Boys work as a movie,
- 59:50Speaker 3: because yes, there's a pretty great reveal that happens in
- 59:56Speaker 3: the film or in the book. It's much harder to
- 59:59Speaker 3: do that with absolutely the film, and it wasn't as effective.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: It felt like it took They did as good as
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: they could, but it took some of that or something
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: or like. But by having it as the POV, you know,
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: from the character's point of view, it was so close
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: to being able to work. But it made that reveal
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: just it not as as effective as the book. I
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: get that, but I thought it was beautifully shot at
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: that part. I'm with you, was was it even up
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: for cinematography? Because I feel like it's it was not
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: up for cinematography. I feel like that's kind of a
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: shame because it was a really beautiful movie. It was
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: very kind of an artsy film in that sense. But no,
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: I mean I was. I was happy with it, and honestly,
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: angeneu Ellis is so good, great, like I wish, And
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: then I think, well, dude, I would have picked her
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: for supporting actress over Isabella Rosselini. Are we kidding?
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: No, that's a super good point, super good point.
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: After seeing that, now, I feel like that's kind of
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: a snub.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: Absolutely, Yeah, that's a good call. That's a good call.
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I really I liked the movie making part of it.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I get that. I really like to complete
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: Unknown too. I thought that was sound was really fun. Again.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: I don't know, like I'm not going to be mad
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: when it doesn't win more. But I was like, man,
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: this is really good.
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: Like well, and especially those biopics a lot of times
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: I'm like, all right, let's move along.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: Yeah. I didn't feel that way in that one very much,
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: if even at all. I don't remember thinking that.
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: So yeah, it didn't try and jam pack, you know,
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: a whole life into it.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, which is such a yeah, but yeah, I'm
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: with you. Well, we'll see what happens, Bud. Congrats on
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: winning again. Good for you.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: I don't know, we like we only differed the ones
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: where we're like, I don't know, maybe this one. So yes,
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: enjoy the Oscars everyone. It should be fun. We'll see
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: who wins the what do we call the GROUCHIESE?
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: Yes, all that stuff too. What do you remember offhand?
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: Rob when they are Is it like Mark?
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: It is?
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: Yes, it's the first Sunday in March. March second time?
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: Okay? Cool? Nice?
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: So yeah, let's want to play gaap babe too. Well.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: I went to X just a little while ago and
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: I was like, Hey, why don't you give me the
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: name of an actor actress that's one in Oscar and
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: also has a large filmography. I wish I would have
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: done it longer ago or a while ago, because I
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: didn't get a lot of option. That's fair, but it
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: could I there is one option I don't think that
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: we've ever used it. I'm going to start with the
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: one I think we should go. Okay, and that's Sandra Bullock.
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: We also had, We've also had Betty Davis, Alec Guinness,
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: Laurence Olivier can't do any of those, and then we
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: have Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren. Meryl Streep, I would
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: be shocked if we haven't used Meryl Streep, but if
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: we haven't, I don't know for sure. I could definitely
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: do Meryl Streep or Sandra Bullock.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: Well, I'm gonna get my ace kicked. Let's do Sandy B.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: I feel like I'll have a better shot there.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: Right, Sandy By, thanks to everyone. Yeah, I think so. Well.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: I don't know. Meryl Streep's done all your movies, dude.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: Yeah, let's go with Sandy B.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: Sandy B. It is thank you Nancy Hamer, Nancy and
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: everyone for responding to us. But we're going to use
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: your suggestion, Sandy Be. Let's go with it. What you've got.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: Yeah, Speed.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: Nice. We did that one just this last year.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that movie. It's really really good.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: It's a great movie. Let's go Speed to Cruise Control.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: Then let's just get that out.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: Of the way. That was what I was holding on to.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: No I knew it, Ah, Sandy B. I think the
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: one the Blindside's what she won the oscar for, right,
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: she sure did.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: That was gonna be my next one. What is Oh,
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: let's go Miss Congeniality.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: Miss Congeniality two.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: There we go. I think, oh it does.
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: I know what it is? I do geniality too.
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: M mm hmmm. I think I know what it is.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: M m. You can have, but I think it's armed
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: and fast, right, it.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: Totally is because that sounds right. Yeah, yeah, that's great.
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: I'm going to pick the heat.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: It's a great I really liked that movie that. It
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: was so funny, really really good.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: The proposal, of course, another one that we've done. Let's
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: stay in the rom com realm. Let's do while you
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: were sleeping just right.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: Now and down? Uh yeah like that?
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: Like that?
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: Boy, I'm kling already. Why for Sandy b My brain
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: is off apparently, No, she's spending so many things.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: There's one more we've done an episode on.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that doesn't help me. Yeah, bird.
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: Bird. Oh yeah, we did not do an episode on that.
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: Scary but what is it called bird? There's another word
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: and it also starts with the it's not black bird
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: bird blind bird.
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: No, she is blind though, right.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: Well, no, they make themselves.
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: She's gotta have the.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: If they if they see, then they get in fact
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: that its very silly bird bath bird. It's that's close,
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: but it's not bath.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: It's not bath bird, bell birdie bird bird.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: It's bird box of you, bird box.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: The movie that we have done was a demolition Man.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I forgot about that. That's a good one. Yep.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: Three Seashells, Sea Shells so dumb. I like it, but
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: I don't know if I have anymore. I don't know
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: what my problem is right now.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: Well then I win, I win.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: Yeah, why don't you say more?
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: Well, I kind of stopped writing them down when you
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: were pausing so much. But we have The Net, which
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: I also watched a lot back in the day. I
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: remember her ordering a pizza and.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: I was like, no way, what are we talking out?
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: Uh? Great John Grisham film called The Time to Kill
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: that I loved back in the day. Those very well, okay,
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: her Keanu, she got back with Keanu for the Lakes.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: I was trying to think of that one by Yeah.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: She kind of was the star in Ocean's.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: Eight right, Oh yeah, good call for.
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: A really terrible movie called All About Steve with her
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: and oh yeah, Bradley Cooper. Yes, that's a good one
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: for the what's it called movie grid Game? She directed
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: one called Hope Floats that I didn't care for. I
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: never saw that, and she played Harper Lee in the
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: Doppelganger film of Capodi called Infamous.
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: Wow, look at you.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: I mean I could keep going. There's murder by numbers there.
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: I mean, there's just no practical magic.
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: Oh I did see that. I was gonna say, like,
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: I haven't seen any of these movies you're saying, so
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: maybe I just.
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: Real forces of nature. I remember I. I was definitely
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: into Sandy b Man loved me some Sandy be.
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: Not producer actress. Yeah, fifty four movies. Bullet Train should
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: have got that, uh, the unfreak.
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: Actually, dude, that's a deep pull because she's only in.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: For like, we missed a really big one that I
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: should have got with gravity, which one, of course, yeah gravity,
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: I'm dumb, extremely loudening, krabbly close yep. Well you got
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: a lot of these stuff. Crash. I should have got
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: two weeks. No, I should crash.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: Yeah. I thought of that one when we were doing
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: rom coms, and then I didn't write it down.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: It's a egypt Man. There's so many all right, Well,
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: yeah I didn't do great, but you know what it
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: is what it is, But that is what it is.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: I get to start off our tapt in best director
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: Oscar we.
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: Well, yeah, and that'll just be for you know, those
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: crazy patrons. So if you want to do that, you
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: can go to uh patreon dot com slash the Avid
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: Endorsement right now and yeah, stay tuned. We're gonna have
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: a lot of good stuff coming up. Be sure we're
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: but yeah, that's it today for our Oscar prediction.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: Bye Rob.
