- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Decision fatigue happens when you're forced to make too many decisions in a short period of time.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: And this is a problem for entrepreneurs who are making dozens of micro decisions a day.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_02]: You're waiting on certainty before you decide.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes no matter how long you take to think about something, it's not the right answer until you make it the right answer to activity.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: Every Instagram post you're spending 30 minutes trying to come up with your caption.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: For every email you're spending 30 minutes trying to figure out what to put in this email.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: When the solution for that is maybe you start batching your decisions.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of spending 30 minutes a day on an Instagram post, let me take Sunday and take two hours and get my content knocked out.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: for the week.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's successful people make decisions fast and our slow-to-turn away.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_02]: unsuccessful people take forever to make a decision that they're quick to turn back.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to another episode of the Social Proof Podcast.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: You may notice that we look like yesterday or we look like last week.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're just wearing the same clothes every week, okay?
- 1:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's not that we'd better coordinate things.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: maybe we should start wearing the same clothes like that man well because it eliminates decision fatigue.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: One of the biggest issues that I deal with in a week is decision fatigue about how I'm going to show up each day of the week.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that kind of makes me feel why dirty people be doing it.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's too hard to like wash and all that like let me just throw in the clothes and just be out or wear the same clothes You always gotta go too far because I'm talking about bathing in a limited decision for you I'm talking about bathing and I'm talking about Washing you know having a multiple Number of pieces of the same garment, but maybe we let's just do social proof uniforms.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna do it.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_02]: No seriously Let's get a bunch of stuff printed up and wear the same stuff period and we might even sell it to y'all
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm, you're gonna look like us.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: And then y'all can look like us.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: No, let's get this a bunch of stuff printed.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: And we're the same stuff, different colors of the same design and all the things.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: The design got to be hard though, like I like this.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: I like the logo on the back of this.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_01]: What if we put it on the front like side?
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: So people can see and correlate what we're wearing to our brands.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_02]: Or we can create, we can have a theme for the year.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: And remember like the my first million joint, I imagine we have a theme for the year.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: All in.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: We print the,
- 2:32[SPEAKER_02]: All in.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: All in is my theme for this.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: And every like we just get embroidered all in on all the shirts.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: All in.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: I actually think that I heard that theme and resonated with it from church and I have started my year off all in.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: I have started my year off all in and like I'm doing things right now where I am strengthening my spiritual relationship and just really locking in and coming back
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I have been moving in a very all in way good or bad.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if the outcome is not aligned with what I want it doesn't matter.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm all in on it.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if you're telling me to distance, I'm all in on the distance.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: If you're telling me to, um, to end something.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: I'm all in on the ending.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: If you're telling me to stick and stay, I'm all in on the stick and stay.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I am all in.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get it.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: Or it could be become the proof.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: Become the proof.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_02]: or all in.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's coming to proof.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: But come the proof.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: I am all in.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: I am the proof.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: I am the proof.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: I am the proof.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: We getting to print it up.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: Are we getting different colors to go different shoes?
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: Or is that something we got to do?
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: So it's just not all black.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, but if we did it, if we did all black.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: we'd be making a statement and people would be paying attention.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_02]: So just all black we get a butt.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you think we need maybe for the first to half of a year?
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: For the first half of a year.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: So six months or more.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: Two shirts, sweatshirts, and these.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: We can change the color quarterly.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: We could change the color quarterly.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: I am the proof.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: I am the proof.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: I am the proof.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: We could do that.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: I am the proof.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, listen.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'll head that up.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: Are we using the company account?
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, really good.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: Jackets.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: We can Jackets.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: I want a little scully.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: Get me a, I want, how can I get like a band anime and right here says I am the proof?
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: Or just on the side it says I am the proof.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_02]: That's easy.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: Because I like to, I like to wear my little band and is especially in the gym.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_02]: Done.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: Can we get a little atleast you're where?
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, this is getting, I mean, this is getting expensive.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's just getting more fatigious, right?
- 5:05[SPEAKER_02]: Like, because we get it.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: Well, because we're all gentle with the gym.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: I wear jim clothes a lot.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: I wear jim clothes a lot and why, like, eliminate the gym decision fatigue.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: We've got our work attire and then we've got our, um, and then we've got our gym attire.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm ready for that.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm in there.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: If we start today, we could probably have it by February 1st, February March April May June.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: So all of June, so July 1st, we get to where other stuff.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it'll be out here again in Florida.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: What was that six months?
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: I was looking for a place to color every quarter.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: yeah of course already like we're here now we got to think about like the difference between winter colors and spring colors and summer colors.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like what's happening right now is we're defeating the purpose of the disseminating decision for tea.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: Are we going to wear like the main color?
- 6:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, let's just go black.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go black for some more.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go black for six.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: Or for the first hat, so we'll be done in July.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: July first.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be done July first with black.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: Drop it in the chat for me, drop it in the comments like, who was it that I knew, I know that Mark Zuckerberg did this.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: He wore the same black t-shirt in jeans for years.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: They're job.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: Steve Jobs did it, same black t-shirt in jeans for years.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: And who are we to try to be fly in variety as they do?
- 6:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like, blueprint?
- 6:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm sorry, so I thought about me and he gave me a little financial freedom joint.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: Just hold a little outfit, but unfortunately, I'll be wearing all black stuff.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, we're going to be wearing it.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: I like this little outfit, though, I don't like all black stuff.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: All black.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now, now, let's answer the question of how people are going to differentiate between our episodes and not thinking that they're seeing the same episode all the time.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_02]: I wear a different hat.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_02]: You wear a different bandana.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not wearing a bandana every episode.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: You said you were six months.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: I said, that's at the gym.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: You said you want a bad data, bruh.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: But my hair will be different and your hat will be different.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to change hair every week?
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: I change my hair every two weeks now.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's not the same.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's not true.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: I get my hair done every two weeks.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't necessarily change it every two weeks.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that, here's, I got a, in the wild, I'm thinking about, I do gotta find this guy's Instagram because he gave me this outfit.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_02]: I don't wanna shout him out.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like maybe we do four colors, right?
- 7:37[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: And we just alternate and we say, first week, second week, third week, fourth week, these are the colors.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: So the first week might be black.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: The second we might be gray, the third we might be blue, the fourth we might be green, and then those are our colors.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: And so we know week one, this is what we wear.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: We too, this is what we wear.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: We have a schedule.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: I actually feel like that is confusing me now.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: What do you mean, Dave?
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's like having you warm.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_02]: I want to have a closet full of black shirts and sweatshirts and I just pick one in
- 8:17[SPEAKER_02]: Are we taking them to the cleaners?
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure it's taking them to the cleaners.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: So we probably need about 14.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: Fourteen?
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: Fourteen.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: For each of us?
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: Fourteen each?
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: Fourteen.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: Fourteen.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_02]: Fourteen.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: Fourteen.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_02]: Fourteen.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: Fourteen.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: Fourteen.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_02]: Fourteen.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: Fourteen.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: Fourteen.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: Fourteen.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: Fourteen.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: Fourteen.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: Fourteen.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: Fourteen.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: Fourteen.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: Fourteen.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: or sweat suits.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: Can we get tracked through?
- 8:48[SPEAKER_02]: We got to throw away the stuff that's in our closet already.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: I've already thrown away.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't thrown away much of anything.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: I've already given away over 200 pieces of clothes.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: In preparation for this year.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: We're definitely not going to get to this episode.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: We are in the episode.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: What we're doing right now, let's talk about decision fatigue.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: Things that are causing you to slow down.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we had a whole play at the, uh, we had a plan, but this opens up a whole new conversation because like, um, I, I have been, have you noticed how that I've been early?
- 9:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, you have.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I've noticed it.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: You've noticed that I've been early.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: You know why I've been early?
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: Because I have been intentional about picking my outfit the night before.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: And sometimes, you will be late over simple things like what you're going to wear.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_02]: And so I, you know, sorry, real quick, because I do in a shot, my boy Alex out with financial freedom.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: What did you need to interrupt that point?
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to do that.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't want to forget.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but did you think that you were going to forget it while I finished my thought?
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: I might have forgotten.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to finish my thought, Rob.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: Because you had your thought.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: It did, I had been on your thought because your thoughts are so engaging.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_02]: And they're so powerful at such points.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I wanted before you get going.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: before you make your point and like really get their brain move around the furniture in her head I want you to tell Dave that he's got to stop cutting me off for non-essential purposes.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: Can I do this for five years?
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: Can I do it?
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: Love me for me.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to understand you came.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: What you don't want me to support another black business?
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: I do, but why are you still against black business?
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: I want the community.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you don't like black men.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: I see a scorn on a guy like that.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: As soon as I get somebody, you just don't like your black men.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: You have to tell me that there's going to be a clip and I never said that, I love me some black man.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so we're a financial freedom, SGDD, financial freedom, SGDD.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_02]: He gave me this, I was in New Jersey.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_02]: He gave me his whole sweat suit.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's the top and the bottom super comfortable support my brother.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's what a sweat suit would be.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't need to say top and bottom.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: You used valuable airspace for that.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying this is what suit I'll make you a little point.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I forgot what my point was actually because you come you off, but I do want to talk about decision fatigue updated, you know, I do want to talk about decision fatigue because it is a it's a mental and an emotional drain.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: You ever been like you ever agreed to go somewhere early in the week for the weekend and then Saturday comes is time to go
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: And you're in your closet, like I don't even know what to wear.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: I've been going in my closet for the last hour or two hours trying to figure out what to wear and then you don't even want to go anymore because you don't know simple things to pull out of your closet to put together.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: And decision fatigue happens when you're forced to make too many decisions in a short period of time and you don't have any structure for why you're making those decisions.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: making dozens of micro decisions a day.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: Every single day from your morning routine to whether we're checking our email first to check in our social media first or who has to be hired or who has to be fired, who has to be disciplined, what's the Instagram caption, what's the content we're posting today, what's the content we're filming today and if you don't have a system for deciding, then you default to delay, that's just
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: the easy thing to do.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: Should I go live today?
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: Should I not go live today?
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: If I go live today, what am I talking about?
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: If I go live today and my collaborating with anybody before you know it, that window that you had available to go live, you've passed it in trying to come up with a decision and now you're beyond it.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: What should I post?
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: What should I do?
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: Who should I do?
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: How should I do?
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: X, Y, and Z?
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: We have to start eliminating options point one.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: Number one, you have too many options.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: Just like David and I, every single week,
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: on the social proof podcast.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: We have to decide what we're wearing every single day.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: And then we hear from Uber's successful entrepreneurs, like who are they?
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: I've slipped my head, slipped my mind.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Mark Zuckerberg, who at one time I don't know they still do, well, we know one doesn't, but at one time they wore the same top, same bottom every single day.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I am a, I'm a creature of habit.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: When I find like a pair of jeans that I like, I'm going to buy several pair of them at one time, so I can wear them all of the time.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: And so I don't have decision fatigue because if I'm not at social proof, I'm usually in a pair of jeans and some kind of top.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: I know a jeans I'm gonna wear.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: I got the same Milano jeans and five different colors, however they come in my size.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just gonna pick that pair of jeans and a top to go with it.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: Eliminate the options that I have.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: Does it give me a whole lot of variety and how I look every single day?
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: No, but it gets me to being productive faster in earlier in the day.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_02]: 100% to many options.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I realized too?
- 14:22[SPEAKER_02]: Is when I have too many options to choose from?
- 14:26[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of project that on my customers and all audience, and I give them too many options to choose from.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_02]: And they have no idea what path to connect with me and because I have so many options.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I'm confusing them.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I believe it's, can we go a bit with William Margin from the door?
- 14:46[SPEAKER_02]: When people have more choices, people take less action.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_02]: People have more choices, people take less action.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: if you can find your choices to a few options, it's so much easier when someone invites you to a wedding they'll let you a chicken or fish, you pick one.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_02]: But if you go to the cheesecake factory, or if you go to a restaurant or you go to a buffet, it's like, man, where do I start?
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: And it's those, it's those where do I start?
- 15:15[SPEAKER_02]: What do I wear?
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: Do I have some shoes to go with this shirt?
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my gosh.
- 15:20[UNKNOWN]: I...
- 15:20[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, I believe we're moving into number two, with these options you are the bottleneck for these decisions because you're only one person and maybe you're not the best decision maker.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: maybe you're not the best decision maker or maybe you're overwhelmed by how many decisions you have to make in a day in the first place like you ever get to the point listen let me tell you some one day I'm writing in the car with my mom right and we're driving her car I'm driving it to the airport right.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: And we hear this sound, we hear this noise, and it sounds like something is dragging underneath the car.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't sound urgent, but it sounds like a nuisance, right?
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: And the day before and that morning, I had to make so many decisions, because I've got client projects that I'm working on.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm talking to my team, I'm choosing a graphic designer, I'm choosing new video editors, I'm doing all the things.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm headed to the airport
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: And they're asking me, what do you think about this?
- 16:23[SPEAKER_01]: What's your thoughts on this?
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: Is this a go final?
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: Are we approved?
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: All these decisions.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: We get in the car.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: We're on 85.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: We're driving.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: And there's this noise.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: And my mom is like, do you hear that noise?
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: I hear the noise and so she keeps driving like she can tell when I'm in like a mood like I don't want to talk about the noise right now We're on the way to the airport right and so she's like do you hear that noise?
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like yes, I hear the noise and I just get silent and she tries to stay silent in the car and maybe a mile or so later She's like what do you think it could be?
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, Mom.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't sound urgent, though.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: And she says, well, you're about to go to the airport, what should I do about it?
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: I would imagine, get it checked out.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it doesn't sound urgent.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: So we end up
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: getting to the airport and I do a one two because I'm not putting my mom back on the road in the dangerous situation but again it did it sounded like we picked something up on the interstate and it was drag and under the car By the time I slow down if we get to the airport I don't hear the noise anymore.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm looking under the car I'm looking all around the car because now I got to make decisions as an auto-mobile expert I'm a mechanic at this point and I'm headed to a flight and I'm on my hands and knees Looking under the car to make sure everything is good, right?
- 17:43[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, aren't you doubting when you're like I?
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm doing all the things and, you know, I had to tell myself to be patient with my mom in that moment because she's thinking about I am leaving like the person who makes the decisions is leaving town I'm getting back on the road I want to be safe and I am thinking about every decision falls on me.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: problem and if I don't feel like it, if I'm overwhelmed, then I become the bottleneck in making the decision.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_02]: 100% you know, with I think when I ask like, Kate to do certain stuff a lot of time, she knows to just make the decision like she just, that's something she'll verify, but I as a leader, you know, entrepreneur is building something,
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's the major reason why you hire somebody.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_02]: So you can take all these decisions.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: I can't think of everything.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_02]: So if you have a strong person, like a K that makes good decisions,
- 18:51[SPEAKER_02]: That's like, she handles probably 15 to 20 decisions a day that I don't need to put my brain on.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: But imagine if I had to make those decisions and needs decisions and I got to tell our money exactly what to do, he's creative, I trust him, he makes good decisions on the content.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_02]: We'll review it together, we'll make some adjustments.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_02]: I don't I don't want to be the bottom of that.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: Another area where you are experiencing the decision fatigue is that you're spending too much time on too much time and too much of your brain power on low value tasks, right?
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: The low value tasks are things that need to get done.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: They have to get done, right?
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: But when it comes to how much time you spend on it, like you should not be thinking two hours long on what caption you need to put with your Instagram post.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: This needs to be a very quick decision that you make.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like here it is, here's the outcome, here's the call to action, here's what I want my viewer.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: to feel when they read this caption done the end.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: How do I type the email?
- 19:53[SPEAKER_01]: Put it in chat, GPT.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: Let them give it to you in the next 20 seconds.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be effective, but you are spending a lot of time making these decisions.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: And you're doing it one-off for every Instagram post.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: You're spending 30 minutes trying to come up with your caption.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: For every email, you're spending 30 minutes trying to figure out what to put in this email.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: When the solution for that is maybe you start
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of spending 30 minutes a day on an Instagram post, let me take Sunday and take two hours and get my content knocked out for the week, like go ahead and pre-load for your week.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: create frameworks for recurring tasks.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: So you're not spending your brain power on low value tasks that need to get done.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: It just doesn't need all of that time.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_02]: 100% number four, you lack daily structure.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_02]: One of the biggest hacks for me is deciding what I'm gonna do that day before the day really gets going.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_02]: A list of things that I know in the morning, these things are important.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_02]: If you don't have that list of things that are important throughout the day, when you go through today, stuff comes up and you just start like making decisions to do stuff.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: But once I have a list in the morning, like that's a, that's me structuring my day.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_02]: I know I have to do this and this and that and this and that.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not spending time wondering what needs to be done in this moment.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: So if we start structuring our day.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm telling you, especially like in a morning meetup, we have like really, we really focus on that because we, we flounder throughout the day, because there's a bunch of stuff, a bunch of decisions, a bunch of people with demanding attention.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: I have a flounder.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: Say it again?
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: Show me what it looks like to flounder.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: We just flounder.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's more of like a flop.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: Nah, we go with the dice.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: Why do you have to be like a fish?
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: I was talking about a fish.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: I was talking about the verb.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: I've got us all guys the movement.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: But I find myself doing that a lot, but my most effective days, and I'm telling you my days be done by one o'clock.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: To a clock, when I have some sort of daily structure, what I need to get done.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_02]: Super effective.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do mine the night before.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: I've been very, very consistent at having a night time routine.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: Not just the morning routine and that includes.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: I identify what I need to get done in a day and maybe you don't know what you need to get done in a day Maybe you are one of those entrepreneurs that we talked about in last week's episode That's just really out here winging it and you're like hey the the reason that I am where I am right now It's because I don't know what decisions to make Listen if you were in our communities actionable CEO or the morning meet-up.com We could help you think through those things, but if you're not
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: If you are not, go to ChatGPT and say, this is my business, this is what's going on right now.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: Help me to decide what decisions would be helpful to move the needle forward in my business.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're giving you the cheat code.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: 100%.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: We're giving you the cheat code, but you're following to another decision for TX state, which is when your emotional state is driving your decisions.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_01]: You're operating based on how you feel.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: Things will get done at a high level of productivity if you feel good, but if you don't feel good, when you
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: are tired when you're exhausted, when you're in a bad mood, you say no to things that you should be saying, yes, too, when you're stressed out, oftentimes, you'll find that you'll start saying, yes, to things, just to kind of minimize confrontation, or minimize breaking the piece.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: You have to create a decision.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: There's a decision will that you can create, right?
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Google that.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: A decision will that says, here is how I make decisions.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: This is what I'm focused on in quarter one.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: This is what I'm focused on this month or this is what I'm focused on this year and we break those things down and we say okay now based on what I want to have tunnel vision focus on What do I need to say yes to and what criteria do I use to determine if it's a good decision so it's like I have a decision will for how I approve podcast guests My team doesn't have to ask me is this person someone that you want to interview we have our criteria in place
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: So that based on my emotional state, I'm not super excited about who's requesting the interview.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: If they don't fall into this predetermined criteria, the answer is no.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: If I'm feeling bad that day, I'm not just saying no because of my emotional state, if they fall into the criteria, then the answer is yes.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm, number six, you don't prioritize time for decision-making.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_02]: So I think you touched on it.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: We're in the evening, I'm prioritizing this window of time to make a bunch of decisions now with a clear mind, silver thought for tomorrow.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: So that takes the load off of all the decisions that you have to make tomorrow.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_02]: So decision-making time is key and I'm starting to learn this.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm working on it because my day is filled with like doing stuff.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: Wake up, take order to school, come here, go on to, you know, talk to the community.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_02]: We shoot content, things at an age, right?
- 24:59[SPEAKER_02]: Then I go home and then I'm just with my kids.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_02]: And then, then me and my wife spend 30 minutes trying to find out what to watch on Netflix.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: And we're asleep 20 minutes later.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: But if I start to prioritize, maybe even an hour a day where I start taking myself to lunch, and not just eating on the run, if I take myself to lunch, and I'm specifically focused on decisions that need to be made.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of decisions that need to be made that are still like floundering.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_02]: Right now, so that I'm supposed to give some to Alyssa for the website and for, you know, Parker, some of the things that I need you're, but I haven't prioritized the time and write down, okay, these are the decisions that need to be made.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_02]: This needs to be delegated to a person.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: I need to start doing that because my day is so full, it's stuff and people.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: And that brings me to point number seven, like your day is full, and sometimes we can mistake
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: for progress.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: And at the end of the day, you've done so many tasks that don't move the needle forward.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: You're physically exhausted and you've decided nothing.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: You've not made any decisions.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: You'll look back and say, well, what did I really accomplish today?
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: And you'll have this checklist while I drop Corey office school.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: I went to the post office.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: I went in.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: I went to Verizon to do this, I went there and I did that out order groceries, but when it comes to like moving the needle forward in your business, you didn't do anything.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so every day, like make a habit of every day, you can journal this, you can think this, you can plan for this.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: What is one high level or high leverage decision I can make today?
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: What is one high
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: because at the end of the day, if you want your business to succeed, if you wanted to sustain or if you want it to grow, whatever stage you're in, you need to be making decisions daily that move the needle forward and you have to get out of that space where we're mistaking busyness for progress.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: almost done y'all.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_02]: If this is resonating with you, please drop it in the comments if this is resonating with you.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_02]: Drop which one, you think most effects you're not going to move forward with in 2026 with this particular handicap.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_02]: Number eight, you're waiting on certainty before you decide.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: And
- 27:28[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes, no matter how long you take to think about something, it's not the right answer until you make it the right answer to activity.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: I've spent a million hours just trying to figure out, okay, what is the best option, especially when they're both good options?
- 27:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like we're doing anything detrimental, but should I do this or that?
- 27:47[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm spending so much time trying to figure out, like, I need everything in this decision to be right, and I've,
- 27:54[SPEAKER_02]: taken weeks to make a decision and then after I get into the decision, I realized, man, I need to go back and pivot to the other decision because now that I'm in it, I didn't realize.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_02]: So we got to stop taking so much time to make a decision.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was a book that I read a while ago and they said, uh, successful people.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_02]: make decisions fast and are slow to turn away.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_02]: They make the decision and go.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_02]: unsuccessful people take forever to make a decision.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_02]: But they're quick to turn back.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's take them forever to make a decision.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_02]: But once you make the decision, you only put your toe in the thing anyway.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: So you're turning it anyway.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: So I've learned to be a quick decision maker.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: Let's figure out what needs to be done in this situation.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_02]: And then we can move forward.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: And as I close out the episode, I want you focus on impactful decisions, not necessarily making more decisions, right?
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: Not creating decisions for the sake of checking off a box, multimillion dollar entrepreneurs or CEOs, business owners, founders, they're making more impactful decisions.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: And when you start creating
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: more impact you have less decisions to make over time.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: I always refer back to the first year that we made our seven figures.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: We dialed in.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: We zeroed in on one or two things.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: We eliminated so many things because we understood that that one decision was going to be so impactful.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: to our outcome, we said, hey, we've got offers in this area, offers in that area, we're working this business, and that business, we're both trying to have a parallel hit.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we got books, and we have all the things, we said, well, what if we just lock in, and you focus on one thing, I focus on one thing, and we decided in that moment to make that decision, which we knew in advance would be impactful, but we proved on the back end that it absolutely was impactful.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: If you're tired and you're business, if you're struggling in your business, you're not moving the needle forward in your business, it probably aligns with your inability to make quality and impactful decisions.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_01]: So I want you to sit down and think about what decisions am I avoiding?
- 30:11[SPEAKER_01]: What clarity do I need?
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: What will actually move the needle forward for me in the next 30 days?
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: And as usual, drop it in the comments.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: Drop in the comments, what was the most impactful point that we made here for you today?
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: showing up in your life.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: And what are you going to do to prevent it going forward?
- 30:32[SPEAKER_01]: Don't forget to like, subscribe, and share this podcast episode with somebody who struggles to make decision.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: Michelle, we'll see you next week.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I will work at uniform because I'm going to be next week, maybe.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_01]: Bye.
