- 0:34SPEAKER_05: No.
- 0:35SPEAKER_05: No.
- 0:35SPEAKER_05: Well, pick it up.
- 0:36SPEAKER_05: Based on our knowledge of uh based on our knowledge of color color theory, you can't.
- 0:41SPEAKER_05: Um that would be so funny if mine was just green and and not you.
- 0:44SPEAKER_05: We should um leave and stop and do this again, start over.
- 0:47SPEAKER_05: Wowie, wowie, wowie.

- 1:01SPEAKER_05: Something has changed within me, honey.
- 1:03SPEAKER_05: And something has changed without me.

- 1:15SPEAKER_05: It's cash money, honey, and it's cash is what?
- 1:17SPEAKER_05: Green, just like me.
- 1:19SPEAKER_05: And that's why we're doing this to sort of promote uh the money that we need.
- 1:25SPEAKER_06: We need money, money, please.
- 1:28SPEAKER_05: But yeah, it's my wedding day, essentially.
- 1:32SPEAKER_05: My dream come true.
- 1:33SPEAKER_05: We are doing a wicked episode.
- 1:36SPEAKER_05: Yes, we are recapping or just reviewing the movie that came out maybe six months ago.
- 1:42SPEAKER_03: The calendar nine years ago.
- 1:44SPEAKER_05: You know us.
- 1:44SPEAKER_05: We don't we don't believe we don't do topical.
- 1:47SPEAKER_05: We just do whatever feels whatever we want to do.
- 1:51SPEAKER_04: And I wanted this.
- 1:52SPEAKER_04: You've I asked for this.
- 1:54SPEAKER_04: You've been wanting this for a long time since I was born.
- 1:57SPEAKER_04: What really can we, I think before we been wanting this?
- 2:01SPEAKER_05: No! I've been wanting like this is too much.
- 2:03SPEAKER_05: Is this the episode that like where we lose our all of our following?
- 2:07SPEAKER_05: Because actually, because it's like too losery, or is it cute?
- 2:09SPEAKER_04: You guys are messed up, and why are you doing this?
- 2:12SPEAKER_05: I've been waiting for you to say this has taken us over the edge, but I'm like, your goat isn't helping.
- 2:17SPEAKER_05: Goat, uh yeah, gayest of all time.
- 2:19SPEAKER_04: You're dressed as Alphabet, and I'm dressed as uh the second lead of the film, Dr.
- 2:23SPEAKER_04: Dillaman.
- 2:24SPEAKER_04: Yes, Daddy Dr.
- 2:26SPEAKER_04: Dillament.
- 2:27SPEAKER_05: Because honestly, you are your Dillaman in the typecast of it all.
- 2:31SPEAKER_04: Well, after watching the movie a second time before I'm actually Alphabet's dad.
- 2:36SPEAKER_04: That's the that's that's the role that I would get.
- 2:39SPEAKER_04: That's the role that I would get.
- 2:40SPEAKER_04: I don't know why.
- 2:40SPEAKER_04: I'm just I was just like, I'm feeling this, like it's not the role I want, but it's the role that I deserve.
- 2:45SPEAKER_04: Read for Dillaman, at least.
- 2:46SPEAKER_04: Read and don't get the part.
- 2:47SPEAKER_04: It's not it's not a good uh show for men, except for Fieri.
- 2:52SPEAKER_04: Show for men.
- 2:53SPEAKER_04: Short.
- 2:53SPEAKER_05: I'm like, Wick is a short film, right?
- 2:55SPEAKER_04: God, it's it's not short films.
- 2:57SPEAKER_05: To me, it's a short film.
- 2:58SPEAKER_05: Too short.
- 2:59SPEAKER_05: My uh actual feedback is triple the length.
- 3:03SPEAKER_04: I want more, more, more.
- 3:04SPEAKER_04: I mean, sure, if they made it into a miniseries, I could get behind that.
- 3:07SPEAKER_04: But as a as a film, no, you've been brainwashed.
- 3:10SPEAKER_04: Streaming has killed you and made you into a goat.
- 3:13SPEAKER_04: This is probably the most stuff I'm wearing on my head and face in any uh episode.
- 3:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:18SPEAKER_04: Last magic last time I said, Oh, I feel like Gina, you took it so personally because I was wearing the fucking elf hat and ears.
- 3:25SPEAKER_04: I was kidding.
- 3:26SPEAKER_04: I know you were kidding.
- 3:27SPEAKER_04: I wasn't actually like personal.
- 3:28SPEAKER_05: Roll the tapes.
- 3:30SPEAKER_05: Well, I was just like, girl, I know, I know the feeling.
- 3:32SPEAKER_05: I meant to be empathetic or empathizing, but um, I was probably just bullying you.
- 3:37SPEAKER_05: But you know what I will say?
- 3:38SPEAKER_05: Um, I'm sure you uh you were you're in pain.
- 3:40SPEAKER_05: If you're not used to it, it is a lot.
- 3:42SPEAKER_05: But uh, I am loving the teeny nose job that those little spectacles are giving you.
- 3:48SPEAKER_05: It's giving a pinced nose.
- 3:50SPEAKER_04: I believe these are called pince-nez or pince pince nezne, which is French.
- 3:54SPEAKER_04: Um pince.
- 3:55SPEAKER_04: Literally means like pinched pinched nose.
- 3:57SPEAKER_04: Not only are they squeezing my um nose, I'm they're magnifying everything.
- 4:00SPEAKER_04: So every time I look at stuff, it's like I'm not hating it.
- 4:06SPEAKER_04: We know.
- 4:07SPEAKER_04: Think about it.
- 4:08SPEAKER_04: We've been thinking about it for as long as we've known each other.
- 4:10SPEAKER_04: You're like, we need to work on that.
- 4:11SPEAKER_04: What kind of doctor is Dr.
- 4:12SPEAKER_04: Dillman plastics?
- 4:14SPEAKER_04: He's into plastics.
- 4:15SPEAKER_04: He's into plastics, yeah.
- 4:16SPEAKER_05: I gotta pull my pants down hold on.
- 4:17SPEAKER_05: Pull your pants down.
- 4:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah, okay.
- 4:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah, show us your goat cock for once.
- 4:22SPEAKER_05: Who are you wearing and what is your problem?
- 4:26SPEAKER_05: Um, it's like I can't make you do like bah and you can't make me battle cry.
- 4:31SPEAKER_04: Well, you can ask me, um, what did I think of Wicked?
- 4:34SPEAKER_04: Okay, but also Just say, just say the words, what did you think of Wicked?
- 4:37SPEAKER_04: What did you think of?
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 4:41SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 4:42SPEAKER_05: See, I thought it was um good for good.
- 4:47SPEAKER_05: This is horrible.
- 4:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's really horrible.
- 4:49SPEAKER_05: It's really hard to take you seriously, to be honest.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: Uh how do you think I feel?
- 4:55SPEAKER_05: The green's a little dark.
- 4:56SPEAKER_05: I'm 50 shades of green.
- 4:57SPEAKER_04: It sucks.
- 4:58SPEAKER_04: It's fine because the the hat is casting a shadow, so everything I think is blending together in the light.
- 5:02SPEAKER_04: I know in the dark.
- 5:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:03SPEAKER_05: And a shadow in a bad way.
- 5:04SPEAKER_05: I probably need to lean back.
- 5:05SPEAKER_05: It's gonna hit the um topiary.
- 5:07SPEAKER_04: Oh god.
- 5:08SPEAKER_04: Of which, if you're paying attention, we updated things a little bit around here.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we did.
- 5:12SPEAKER_04: We got big walls of topiaries.
- 5:14SPEAKER_05: Am I hitting the topiaries?
- 5:15SPEAKER_05: That's what like that noise is.
- 5:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 5:17SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 5:18SPEAKER_05: We'll sit up.
- 5:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we got Grecian columns, we got little diamond-y things hanging.
- 5:22SPEAKER_05: We got a big diamond here.
- 5:24SPEAKER_05: I'd say 24 carats.
- 5:27SPEAKER_05: If I had to guess, no, that is bigger than you'll ever know because it doesn't, it can't be captured.
- 5:32SPEAKER_05: You can't read on camera.
- 5:33SPEAKER_05: It can't.
- 5:34SPEAKER_05: It's it's solid.
- 5:35SPEAKER_04: Eight and a half inches.
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: We decided that a lot of the um quality of life updates we made to the set are mostly for the guests.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: Because like sitting here looking at this, it's very, you know, it's experiential.
- 5:45SPEAKER_05: Yes, we put in a lot of work and then we looked at the shot and it all looked the same.
- 5:49SPEAKER_05: Very similar.
- 5:49SPEAKER_05: Then we we were like, oh, it's this old guest.
- 5:53SPEAKER_05: For the guests, but tonight it's just us.
- 5:56SPEAKER_05: I'm wearing goat couture head to toe.
- 6:00SPEAKER_05: Yes, literally to the toe.
- 6:02SPEAKER_05: He has a fucking camel toe moose knuckle everywhere.
- 6:05SPEAKER_05: I'm seeing three moose knuckles.
- 6:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's blown my pants down.
- 6:09SPEAKER_04: It's crucial.
- 6:10SPEAKER_04: My custom uh goat tabbies, um, which you really can't see, but it's mostly just for for me for fun.
- 6:15SPEAKER_05: Did you buy planner material that we were looking at the other day?
- 6:18SPEAKER_04: No, this is the um werewolf face that you've had in your spare costume bit.
- 6:22SPEAKER_05: Just in case if they you never know.
- 6:24SPEAKER_05: I mean, we have hoarding tendencies.
- 6:25SPEAKER_05: It's like, don't keep it.
- 6:26SPEAKER_05: When are we gonna use it?
- 6:27SPEAKER_05: And then it's like, we used it.
- 6:29SPEAKER_04: Um, but I got these horns on Etsy, and then I I painted them and they're 3D printed, so I should have sanded them first.
- 6:35SPEAKER_04: So I was like highlighting and shadowing and highlighting and shadowing, and I just like it.
- 6:38SPEAKER_04: We wasn't going to changing.
- 6:40SPEAKER_05: And I was like, Came to look at it and I was like, they're black.
- 6:44SPEAKER_05: And I was like, uh-oh.
- 6:45SPEAKER_05: Dowie, no, they look great.
- 6:47SPEAKER_05: You finally you you achieved what you needed to achieve.
- 6:51SPEAKER_04: And then um I'm wearing uh archival sisters weekend uh slash mic slash ange.
- 6:58SPEAKER_04: Um this is uh Givenchy vest I stole from my mom.
- 7:02SPEAKER_04: Dr.
- 7:02SPEAKER_04: Dillaman.
- 7:03SPEAKER_04: And these are like corny um leather cuffs from Amazon.
- 7:06SPEAKER_05: Wow, and are they intentionally not matching?
- 7:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 7:08SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
- 7:09SPEAKER_04: It's a three-pack.
- 7:10SPEAKER_04: So I just decided to throw them on and cover and cover all of the um bite marks and scars that my cat has given me recently.
- 7:15SPEAKER_05: So um Wow, you look amazing.
- 7:19SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 7:20SPEAKER_05: You are type guy.
- 7:22SPEAKER_05: This is in your wheelhouse.
- 7:23SPEAKER_05: Oh, and like folk.
- 7:24SPEAKER_05: Uh prosthetic facial hair.
- 7:25SPEAKER_05: Um yeah, yeah.
- 7:26SPEAKER_05: Please do tell the audience that because uh or the our our follow our listeners, viewers, what do you call our fans?
- 7:33SPEAKER_05: Uh fucking idiots.
- 7:35SPEAKER_05: Those who are watching.
- 7:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah, our are followers.
- 7:37SPEAKER_05: Let's say followers.
- 7:38SPEAKER_05: Mike's covered in gray hair, so you gotta have you have to disclaim that those chops aren't natural.
- 7:43SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah, these are natural.
- 7:44SPEAKER_05: I know it's been a while since we've recorded.
- 7:47SPEAKER_05: You went shopping at Abracadabra and grabbed these for me or or uh uh uh close.
- 7:54SPEAKER_05: I don't know the song because I haven't listened.
- 7:55SPEAKER_05: But yeah, I went to Abercadabra.
- 7:57SPEAKER_04: Um, and you picked this color, and it is like truly my it's like my color.
- 8:01SPEAKER_04: Mouse gray.
- 8:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I swatched your bush.
- 8:04SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and I was like, this'll do.
- 8:05SPEAKER_04: My bush is brown and dark.
- 8:07SPEAKER_05: Not too dark, though.
- 8:08SPEAKER_04: No, it's darker than what's up top now.
- 8:11SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 8:11SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 8:11SPEAKER_05: I need to check in on that.
- 8:12SPEAKER_05: No, you can come on soon.
- 8:14SPEAKER_05: A brown bush is something else.
- 8:15SPEAKER_05: Uh who are you wearing?
- 8:17SPEAKER_05: What is your problem, my dear?
- 8:18SPEAKER_05: What am I wearing?
- 8:19SPEAKER_05: I'm wearing a little sheath from the real real.
- 8:23SPEAKER_04: It's designer, but I don't remember, I don't know who it is.
- 8:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 8:26SPEAKER_05: Mike and I have this problem where we're like, oh, this looks amazing, and then it ends up being like the thinnest piece of fabric.
- 8:31SPEAKER_05: It's a nightgown, but there are little stringy poos.
- 8:34SPEAKER_05: I'm wearing a corset panties, and this hat costs a million dollars because we made it, obviously.
- 8:40SPEAKER_05: Uh started with a sun hat, if you can't tell.
- 8:44SPEAKER_05: How many sun hats had to die for this?
- 8:46SPEAKER_05: Um two, three, four, who knows?
- 8:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 8:48SPEAKER_05: Two there, it's a double-stacked sun hat chopped because I was like, I wanted it to feel methy.
- 8:55SPEAKER_05: I think we achieved it.
- 8:55SPEAKER_05: I think we did, yeah.
- 8:56SPEAKER_05: And then this cone is from, I don't fucking know, Wayfair, whatever.
- 9:00SPEAKER_05: It's like shit you put on your lawn.
- 9:02SPEAKER_05: For Halloween.
- 9:03SPEAKER_05: But I think it's fucking gaggy.
- 9:04SPEAKER_05: I'm not gonna lie.
- 9:05SPEAKER_05: Like it's a lot, but it really came together, and the final the finishing touches was was paper mache.
- 9:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 9:10SPEAKER_05: Using paper towel.
- 9:11SPEAKER_05: Using paper towel.
- 9:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 9:12SPEAKER_05: You can mache with paper towel.
- 9:13SPEAKER_05: Can you believe it?
- 9:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 9:14SPEAKER_05: And all that can become fashion.
- 9:17SPEAKER_05: Can you believe that?
- 9:19SPEAKER_05: I can, because I think this is giving like editorial alphabet.
- 9:22SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 9:23SPEAKER_05: Now or resortware?
- 9:25SPEAKER_04: A little bit of both.
- 9:26SPEAKER_04: But can we just try and drill down on like why?
- 9:29SPEAKER_04: Why, why, why did this happen?
- 9:32SPEAKER_04: Did this happen?
- 9:34SPEAKER_04: I don't really know.
- 9:35SPEAKER_04: I'm having regrets.
- 9:36SPEAKER_04: You've been talking about Wicked for the entire first season of the podcast.
- 9:39SPEAKER_04: For a while, it was like an episode-by-episode stretch.
- 9:43SPEAKER_04: It accidentally came up.
- 9:44SPEAKER_05: But you know what?
- 9:45SPEAKER_05: I accidentally, it was on purpose because you were talking about it.
- 9:48SPEAKER_05: You know what?
- 9:49SPEAKER_05: In my defense, I I was always talking about it accidentally, or just coincidentally, would come up in in combo before the movie, the press release, before the first trailer.
- 9:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 9:59SPEAKER_05: So it's like, I'm not, it's not wicked fever.
- 10:01SPEAKER_05: It's just, it's me.
- 10:02SPEAKER_05: It's who I am.
- 10:03SPEAKER_05: And then the movie came out, and I was like, you know what?
- 10:06SPEAKER_05: We need to do it.
- 10:07SPEAKER_05: But why do you why do you like Wicked so much?
- 10:08SPEAKER_05: Why what what about it has has I don't even like okay.
- 10:11SPEAKER_05: For the final time, even though I'm dressed like this, I'm not a huge wicked head.
- 10:17SPEAKER_05: Shut up.
- 10:18SPEAKER_05: I'm not.
- 10:19SPEAKER_05: I like fashion.
- 10:20SPEAKER_05: I like green.
- 10:21SPEAKER_05: I like whatever.
- 10:22SPEAKER_05: I like makeup.
- 10:22SPEAKER_05: I'm a makeup artist.
- 10:23SPEAKER_05: I'm a loser.
- 10:25SPEAKER_05: But I'm not that freaky.
- 10:28SPEAKER_05: I I like Wicked.
- 10:29SPEAKER_05: I I'll I'll go on record and say I like it.
- 10:31SPEAKER_05: I had a um formative experience in the front row on Broadway with a great alphabet who I don't know.
- 10:37SPEAKER_05: I've thought on file, other episodes, I've talked about it.
- 10:40SPEAKER_05: But yeah, I've seen the stage show, which you have not.
- 10:43SPEAKER_05: I have not, no.
- 10:44SPEAKER_05: So I'm a believer.
- 10:45SPEAKER_05: I think it's magical and wonderful and cool-ish.
- 10:49SPEAKER_05: But then if I zoom out, that's me being secure and normal.
- 10:52SPEAKER_05: But then if I, I don't know, come to, I'm like, wow, I can drag it to hell.
- 10:56SPEAKER_05: And that's why we're actually here because I saw it and I was like, I love it.
- 11:00SPEAKER_05: I think it's great.
- 11:00SPEAKER_05: Like I can't, I like no bad things because it like passed the test.
- 11:04SPEAKER_05: It was like good enough that I was like, wow, okay, few.
- 11:07SPEAKER_05: They got it right.
- 11:08SPEAKER_05: But now enough time has passed and then I can I can drag it to hell.
- 11:12SPEAKER_05: Because it is oof.
- 11:14SPEAKER_05: It's it's a lot.
- 11:15SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 11:16SPEAKER_05: A lot of things we can talk about.
- 11:17SPEAKER_05: And we will.
- 11:18SPEAKER_05: That's for sure.
- 11:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 11:19SPEAKER_05: I had one more thing to say, and I can't remember.
- 11:21SPEAKER_05: Tutorial?
- 11:22SPEAKER_05: No.
- 11:22SPEAKER_05: Well, I hate it.
- 11:23SPEAKER_05: We did a little tutorial, which uh, yeah, click ahead.
- 11:27SPEAKER_05: If you're subscribed on Patreon, you might get it as a little bonus thing.
- 11:31SPEAKER_05: I actually hated doing that.
- 11:33SPEAKER_05: I know a lot of people do like makeup tutorials and stuff, but I it was throwing me off.
- 11:39SPEAKER_04: It's like an art form unto itself, just like a different part of your brain being activated.
- 11:43SPEAKER_05: Totally, because I'm usually really focused, usually music's playing.
- 11:46SPEAKER_05: Like I'm always a centimeter from the mirror.
- 11:48SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 11:48SPEAKER_05: Like squared off to it.
- 11:50SPEAKER_05: I was on an angle, and not to make excuses, but I don't love my makeup.
- 11:54SPEAKER_05: But it's fine.
- 11:55SPEAKER_05: It's snatchier than a lot of other fake alphabas out there.
- 11:58SPEAKER_05: Definitely.
- 11:58SPEAKER_05: But I didn't like doing that.
- 11:59SPEAKER_05: I don't know if that's my thing.
- 12:01SPEAKER_05: I think my thing is like having like a crew of documentary documentarians like come in and just talk to me a little bit while I'm doing it.
- 12:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:09SPEAKER_05: Like I'm like, hey, I'm doing this, I'm getting ready for our show.
- 12:11SPEAKER_05: Like, I think I'm more interested in like a pre-show.
- 12:13SPEAKER_05: You guys tell us what you want.
- 12:15SPEAKER_05: That's a great, that's a great question.
- 12:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 12:17SPEAKER_05: What do you guys want to see?
- 12:19SPEAKER_04: Let us know.
- 12:19SPEAKER_04: What what do you think we should do?
- 12:20SPEAKER_04: Um, I I've been saying I think it would be fun to show you guys a studio tour of like like a vlog, kind of like you know, what it goes, what goes into making an episode.
- 12:27SPEAKER_05: Bet you're all dying to know what's behind every single one of these squares.
- 12:32SPEAKER_05: Um remember I used to sing to you, is it still considered bulimia if I purge from the butt?
- 12:39SPEAKER_05: I do remember that wasn't from in Wicked.
- 12:40SPEAKER_05: They cut it for time.
- 12:41SPEAKER_05: Oh, right.
- 12:43SPEAKER_05: Not the book.
- 12:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:44SPEAKER_05: Oh, wait, yeah, back to the state show.
- 12:45SPEAKER_05: I've seen it, you haven't.
- 12:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 12:47SPEAKER_05: Um, so I think the state show is fun and cool.
- 12:49SPEAKER_05: The movie I was, you know, really like oof.
- 12:51SPEAKER_05: I was like, why are they doing this?
- 12:53SPEAKER_05: I'm always disappointed by every sort of adaption like that.
- 12:55SPEAKER_05: And that's why I think I gave it rave reviews out the gate because I was like, wow, it did for me pass the test.
- 13:01SPEAKER_05: The movie.
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:02SPEAKER_05: Generally.
- 13:02SPEAKER_05: And I still think after re-watching it last night, I'm like, it's actually as classy as it can be, I think.
- 13:08SPEAKER_05: Pretty much.
- 13:08SPEAKER_05: Well, they tried to go classy, and I appreciate that.
- 13:11SPEAKER_04: I when I watched it the second time, I did like it more, but it just is so long and plodding at points.
- 13:18SPEAKER_04: It just slows to a fucking crawl, and it like squanders any goodwill that it gains by being like fun and cool, by just being glacial.
- 13:27SPEAKER_05: I was like, can we please cut at least they really sort of play everything out in real time and really sort of let things happen?
- 13:36SPEAKER_05: Which maybe speaks to some of the classiness, some of the 90s storytelling, like pacing, maybe like is a little classy.
- 13:43SPEAKER_05: Well, it's always it's always hard.
- 13:44SPEAKER_05: It does get too long.
- 13:45SPEAKER_04: It's always hard to adapt a musical for film because inherently musicals are typically are two acts.
- 13:50SPEAKER_04: So, you know, this is too much.
- 13:52SPEAKER_04: And it's and it's longer than what a feature film winds up being.
- 13:54SPEAKER_04: So it just could have been could have been a little bit could have been picked and tucked and sucked in and it would have been incredible.
- 13:59SPEAKER_04: Um, I I will say, so we don't really talk about this that much like in the in the in the regular pod stuff, but like I I know I get a bad rap for being the the hater of all time, which I am, and I own that as as uh my goal is to not come off as a hater in this episode, but to be critical as fuck.
- 14:16SPEAKER_04: But critical as fuck is what I want to say because I've worked in film for over a decade.
- 14:21SPEAKER_04: Not only that, like my parents work professionally on Broadway, so I've been like entrenched in musical theater and cinema my entire life.
- 14:31SPEAKER_04: You're a designer and this.
- 14:37SPEAKER_03: So we've got a lot to say.
- 14:38SPEAKER_04: And I and I just want to kind of preface that with like I think there are a lot of gay podcasts who have people with a lot of opinions, but like I do believe we're coming at this from a like a slightly more technically elevated place, and maybe that's why like this is a good episode for a Patreon, because it's like we can get be a little less funny, a little bit more like specific.
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: The film for me it fails not in performance or musicality or like tone, it fails in like design.
- 15:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's my biggest photography as well.
- 15:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's the look of it.
- 15:08SPEAKER_05: That's why at the end I'm gonna be like, what is your or or right now, like what's your grade?
- 15:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and for me, I'm gonna give it an A slash A minus for adaption from the show, the Broadway show.
- 15:20SPEAKER_05: I'm didn't read the book, dear God.
- 15:22SPEAKER_05: I'm just going off of that, and it's more based on the show.
- 15:24SPEAKER_05: I know they brought in a little bit of the book, but it's basically the Broadway show.
- 15:27SPEAKER_05: So I'll give that an A, A minus, and then I will give the overall look, feel, design uh a B.
- 15:35SPEAKER_05: I'm not gonna go lower than a B, to be honest.
- 15:37SPEAKER_05: After last night, I was like really looking at the sets, and I was like, the sets I think are mostly beautiful.
- 15:42SPEAKER_05: There are some ugly Hidioso ones, for sure, but I think it's um actually what you have said, and it's a lighting problem.
- 15:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 15:52SPEAKER_05: People online have said it's a coloring problem.
- 15:56SPEAKER_05: Like the colorist got it wrong, color grading fucked it up.
- 16:00SPEAKER_05: But I think you're right.
- 16:01SPEAKER_05: I think it's more about the light.
- 16:02SPEAKER_05: Because there are moments of saturation and like color.
- 16:04SPEAKER_05: Totally could be pushed more.
- 16:06SPEAKER_05: It's a to me, yeah.
- 16:07SPEAKER_05: So we're getting right into it.
- 16:08SPEAKER_04: I guess, but why don't we why don't we take a quickie, quickie, quickie break and then we'll get back into the meat and potatoes of our fucking destruction of this fucking goddamn train wreck of a film.
- 16:19SPEAKER_04: Just kidding.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: My mic cut out, I'm like silent, a silent battle cry.
- 16:26SPEAKER_05: Because my sound cuts.
- 16:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 16:27SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: Okay, be already with Julissa.
- 16:39SPEAKER_02: It's like who's Julissa?
- 16:41SPEAKER_02: And with him for you can still be with Julissa.
- 16:49SPEAKER_02: What?
- 16:53SPEAKER_05: You can! Um I'm actually I'm actually out of drink.
- 16:57SPEAKER_05: Maybe Yeah, can why don't you make us both?
- 17:00SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 17:00unknown: You can talk a lot.
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: Please.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, new cops, everyone.
- 17:13SPEAKER_05: They were discovered in an anthropology.
- 17:18SPEAKER_05: But Mike went right to found them right from China.
- 17:21SPEAKER_05: He said, mm-mm, I'm paying that.
- 17:24SPEAKER_05: Not paying that fake anthro money.
- 17:25SPEAKER_05: Because Anthro is also going to China.
- 17:28SPEAKER_05: So we skipped the middleman and uh did bad things for usual.
- 17:34SPEAKER_05: Oh, for the sake of the set.
- 17:38SPEAKER_05: Um I feel super paralyzed right now because why am I talking alone?
- 18:04SPEAKER_05: Anyway, I mean it's really my body to get my hands are not either.
- 18:13SPEAKER_05: You're lucky you're getting this.
- 18:24SPEAKER_05: I'm giving gay wrists.
- 18:27SPEAKER_05: I'm going to be giving gay wrists this entire episode because my hands are um obviously they've been greened, so I feel like I can't touch anything.
- 18:39SPEAKER_05: So I'm it's it's really making me bizarre.
- 18:42SPEAKER_05: And the result is gay gay arm.
- 18:45SPEAKER_05: Gay wrist.
- 18:47SPEAKER_05: Is he addicted to body pain?
- 18:52SPEAKER_05: You know the saying.
- 18:54SPEAKER_05: Um but at least I have a good nail on.
- 18:56SPEAKER_05: Um for five hours.
- 18:58SPEAKER_05: Not much was said.
- 18:59SPEAKER_05: I was just saying uh I was giving gay arm.
- 19:03SPEAKER_05: Gay hand, gay wrist, because um I feel very paralyzed with these green hands.
- 19:08SPEAKER_05: Because I'm a knee freak, I'm OCD, so I don't wanna I I'm I don't wanna I hate messes and dirty things.
- 19:13SPEAKER_05: I appreciate that, but we both like have our time have a hard time with like eating wings.
- 19:17SPEAKER_04: There's something so like freeing about giving gay hand though in public, just like in life.
- 19:23SPEAKER_04: For sure.
- 19:23SPEAKER_04: Like guys, girls, anyway.
- 19:26SPEAKER_04: It feels good to let your hand be limp.
- 19:28SPEAKER_05: Limp.
- 19:29SPEAKER_05: Drop it down, try it out.
- 19:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah, fellas, try it out.
- 19:32SPEAKER_05: Straight, straight should try it out.
- 19:33SPEAKER_05: Give it a shot.
- 19:34SPEAKER_05: They should.
- 19:34SPEAKER_05: Good world.
- 19:35SPEAKER_05: I heard you talking about the cubs.
- 19:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I said you went to China.
- 19:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 19:38SPEAKER_05: Which it's like it's so sad.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: It's so sad and so annoying that you can literally find anything just like from another vendor on Amazon or on AliExpress or something.
- 19:47SPEAKER_04: Literally, I thought Anthro.
- 19:48SPEAKER_05: I was like, okay, those price points, they must mean uh domestic designers involved or something.
- 19:55SPEAKER_05: No, you can get even that shit.
- 19:57SPEAKER_05: Everyone is just dealing and trying to make a buck.
- 20:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 20:02SPEAKER_05: Ourselves included.
- 20:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 20:04SPEAKER_05: By charging you to be watching this.
- 20:06SPEAKER_04: A worse version of wicked.
- 20:07SPEAKER_04: Well, or maybe a better one, to be honest.
- 20:10SPEAKER_04: Now that we're getting into it.
- 20:11SPEAKER_04: And let all odds be agreed, honey.
- 20:14SPEAKER_05: Do you like my nails?
- 20:15SPEAKER_05: I actually really do.
- 20:16SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 20:17SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 20:18SPEAKER_05: Custom file takes forever, but I do love when you get when you file it yourself, you can really choose the shape.
- 20:27SPEAKER_05: Um but I I saw OPI, I was like, ooh, these are cool, and then I was embarrassed because the OPI nail polishes were it was wicked edition.
- 20:35SPEAKER_05: So I was like, I feel like stupid.
- 20:37SPEAKER_05: I wish I was just picking a green, but it was I picked the wicked collab.
- 20:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 20:42SPEAKER_05: So whatever.
- 20:43SPEAKER_05: And then I thought this little overlay was um more transparent, not so opaque.
- 20:48SPEAKER_05: So I thought they'd all get a little something, but then they ended up being opaque.
- 20:51SPEAKER_05: So this alpha buzz A-okay.
- 20:54SPEAKER_05: She's getting the butthole.
- 20:56SPEAKER_05: She loves um, does this still mean asshole in America?
- 21:00SPEAKER_04: I thought it meant what when when did it ever mean asshole?
- 21:03SPEAKER_04: A S S hole.
- 21:05SPEAKER_04: Oh, in sign language.
- 21:08SPEAKER_05: Have you ever had green head?
- 21:10SPEAKER_05: Uh, can't say that I have.
- 21:12SPEAKER_05: I fully um my penis is green too.
- 21:15SPEAKER_05: Yeah, well.
- 21:16SPEAKER_05: I'm fully body painted under the suit.
- 21:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah, the hole is bright pink and screaming.
- 21:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:22SPEAKER_05: But yeah, I went long.
- 21:24SPEAKER_05: You need to.
- 21:25SPEAKER_05: Love it.
- 21:25SPEAKER_05: We love it.
- 21:26SPEAKER_05: I went long too.
- 21:27SPEAKER_05: She did.
- 21:29SPEAKER_04: These are actually antelope horns, but I was like, you know what?
- 21:31SPEAKER_04: I want something with a little bit of volume.
- 21:32SPEAKER_04: I knew what I was up against, so I needed to uh I do love you're addicted to costuming.
- 21:37SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean, why do you think we're friends?
- 21:39SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 21:40SPEAKER_04: How annoying would it be if I was just like in a sweatshirt and you were dressed like this?
- 21:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 21:44SPEAKER_04: Although Dillaman in the sweatsuit is kind of funny.
- 21:46SPEAKER_04: Well, because I was uh in a sweatsuit yesterday when we were doing our final funny.
- 21:53SPEAKER_06: That's kind of funny.
- 21:55SPEAKER_04: No, I'm allowed to be creative and have fun too.
- 21:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:58SPEAKER_05: Please.
- 21:59SPEAKER_05: Well.
- 22:00SPEAKER_05: Shall we?
- 22:01SPEAKER_05: We shall.
- 22:02SPEAKER_05: Start.
- 22:03SPEAKER_05: Because I keep um doing everything but talking about the movie.
- 22:06SPEAKER_05: I have notes.
- 22:07SPEAKER_05: Did you take notes?
- 22:08SPEAKER_05: I did, but my phone's over there and I got it.
- 22:11SPEAKER_05: You want me to grab it?
- 22:12SPEAKER_05: I think it's I brought it in.
- 22:13SPEAKER_05: Alright, alright.
- 22:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I do.
- 22:14SPEAKER_05: Mike um colored his little uh what would you call that?
- 22:18SPEAKER_05: A brooch?
- 22:19SPEAKER_05: What do you call that?
- 22:20SPEAKER_05: Like a little a cravat.
- 22:24SPEAKER_05: That's the word I'm looking for.
- 22:25SPEAKER_05: He colored his cravat green.
- 22:28SPEAKER_05: Using a Sharpie.
- 22:29SPEAKER_05: Which is insane.
- 22:30SPEAKER_05: I'm so impressed.
- 22:31SPEAKER_05: Because the quality, I mean, I'm I'm impressed with the knowledge, but but also the quality ended up being way better than I would have ever imagined.
- 22:39SPEAKER_05: I mean, I was like, it'd be fun if it was an emerald, because like we are in the Emerald City.
- 22:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and then you sent us some of us.
- 22:46SPEAKER_04: It activated my, you know, my archival brain where I was like, oh, I've seen some tutorial about some crazy person uh using sharpies to change all the colors of their rhinestones to something.
- 22:55SPEAKER_04: And I was like, I could probably do that.
- 22:56SPEAKER_04: You can only it only works on plastic.
- 23:00SPEAKER_03: Listeners, Patreon, you can call it patrons.
- 23:04SPEAKER_03: If you don't get that gemstone, you'd like home.
- 23:06SPEAKER_05: If you didn't get that gemstone you'd wanted from your man this Valentine's Day, pick out the Sharpies.
- 23:10SPEAKER_05: Can I just, before we actually start, can I just take a minute and say these braids?
- 23:15SPEAKER_05: I sat in a chair and had this wig braided on my head because obviously Idina and like Elphabot on stage is known for her one side braid because she's like dowdy, you know, whatever.
- 23:28SPEAKER_05: And then Dorothy has two braids, and then Cynthia Revo has amazing micro braids.
- 23:33SPEAKER_05: So this is my homage to all three.
- 23:37SPEAKER_05: Pop them in a blender and keep it um as uh appropriate as appropriate.
- 23:43SPEAKER_05: Appropriate, not appropriative, as a white green girl can.
- 23:46SPEAKER_06: You know what I'm saying?
- 23:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but yeah, I I did uh sit in a chair and have a wig braided on my head.
- 23:53SPEAKER_05: Well, it's weirdly a full lace wig.
- 23:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 23:56SPEAKER_05: That's why I was like, what the fuck am I gonna do with this?
- 23:59SPEAKER_05: I'm like, I guess I'll get it braided.
- 24:01SPEAKER_05: So she did a little titty job.
- 24:02SPEAKER_05: She did.
- 24:03SPEAKER_05: It's considering that, but yeah, what else do you do with a full lace?
- 24:06SPEAKER_04: Um, okay, well, let's dive in.
- 24:07SPEAKER_04: Uh Wicked, the part one.
- 24:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:10SPEAKER_04: What's your first note?
- 24:11SPEAKER_04: My first note is why I love when they changed that studio logo.
- 24:15SPEAKER_04: I love when it's like Universal Studios and it's like a different color or it's in a different style.
- 24:20SPEAKER_04: I'm into that shit.
- 24:21SPEAKER_04: They did that for Nosferatu.
- 24:23SPEAKER_04: They made everything like old and period and illustrated, and I was like, ooh, I'm into it.
- 24:26SPEAKER_05: See, I love the beginning where it's like speaker quality, like affected voice.
- 24:31SPEAKER_05: Ominous, yeah.
- 24:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah, ominous speaker, wet water puddle, like steaming hat.
- 24:37SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 24:38SPEAKER_05: But but I was really like kind of like thrown off by, I guess we'll find out in part two how much water was thrown.
- 24:44SPEAKER_05: Okay, like that's a big ass puddle.
- 24:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 24:46SPEAKER_05: And what is steaming?
- 24:48SPEAKER_05: I meant is it is it hay from the broom?
- 24:51SPEAKER_05: Or from the scarecrow?
- 24:53SPEAKER_04: Because he's on fire.
- 24:54SPEAKER_06: Well, okay.
- 24:56SPEAKER_04: Maybe I'm jumping ahead a little bit because like once we get to that moment, like the overture kicks in, and it that overture is fucking cunt.
- 25:02SPEAKER_04: That that music starts, and I'm I am strapped in, I'm on that roller coaster.
- 25:05SPEAKER_04: It's amazing.
- 25:06SPEAKER_03: This is happening.
- 25:06SPEAKER_03: Okay, I'm happy to hear this.
- 25:07SPEAKER_04: But then instantly I go over the first hill on the roller coaster, and then I'm like, what the fuck am I looking at?
- 25:11SPEAKER_04: Because that because they start the movie at the end of the second movie.
- 25:14SPEAKER_04: So it's like, I don't know where we are.
- 25:16SPEAKER_04: I know, I know it's the witch's castle.
- 25:19SPEAKER_04: I see like a horse.
- 25:20SPEAKER_04: I'm assuming that's her or Fiero.
- 25:22SPEAKER_04: I'm like, I don't know what the fuck I'm looking at.
- 25:24SPEAKER_04: And it's like, I know it's not Fiero though.
- 25:26SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 25:26SPEAKER_05: I actually had that same question.
- 25:27SPEAKER_05: As someone who knows the story, I'm like, who the fuck is riding on the horse that they're showing?
- 25:32SPEAKER_05: Is it the wizard of Oz?
- 25:33SPEAKER_04: Oh, maybe it's the wizard?
- 25:35SPEAKER_04: Maybe.
- 25:36SPEAKER_04: That's what I mean.
- 25:36SPEAKER_04: I was like, I know it's supposed to be intriguing and she has a baby in part two.
- 25:40SPEAKER_04: Well, in the books, she has a she has a kid.
- 25:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:43SPEAKER_05: Who?
- 25:43SPEAKER_05: Who has a baby?
- 25:44SPEAKER_05: Uh the the witch.
- 25:45SPEAKER_05: Greenana?
- 25:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah, Alphabet.
- 25:47SPEAKER_04: I can't with the books.
- 25:49SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 25:49SPEAKER_04: Please.
- 25:50SPEAKER_04: Um, I was like, where are we?
- 25:51SPEAKER_04: What's happening?
- 25:52SPEAKER_04: What's going on?
- 25:52SPEAKER_04: Who is that?
- 25:53SPEAKER_04: And then we like zoom past Dorothy, and I was like, okay.
- 25:57SPEAKER_05: People are so crazy with the Easter eggs online.
- 26:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I know you're not on Twitter, but it's and it's a shame.
- 26:03SPEAKER_05: And you're not on threads either, I don't think.
- 26:04SPEAKER_05: No.
- 26:05SPEAKER_05: Um, you're like, I do burner account.
- 26:07SPEAKER_05: Uh but you go crazy about like the Easter eggs.
- 26:13SPEAKER_05: There are only like four Easter eggs?
- 26:14SPEAKER_05: There's a lot, I guess.
- 26:15SPEAKER_05: There's but there's there's a lot, but there's not as many as people think.
- 26:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 26:18SPEAKER_05: They're like, Did you see the first blade of grass?
- 26:22SPEAKER_05: It's shaped as Dorothy's head.
- 26:25SPEAKER_05: Like, you know what I mean?
- 26:26SPEAKER_05: It's like not everything's a motif.
- 26:28SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 26:28SPEAKER_05: Literally, not everything's like a hidden message.
- 26:31SPEAKER_05: Stop.
- 26:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 26:32SPEAKER_05: Please.
- 26:32SPEAKER_05: Everything, like literally online, people were going crazy.
- 26:35SPEAKER_05: And it's like, shut your trap.
- 26:37SPEAKER_05: Just watch the book.
- 26:38SPEAKER_05: And fucking find a friend.
- 26:42SPEAKER_04: For one second.
- 26:43SPEAKER_04: Anyway, so then uh overtures cunt, I'm into that.
- 26:46SPEAKER_04: Um, oh, but then in the voiceover, according to the time dragon clock, that's something that that uh Glinda says.
- 26:53SPEAKER_04: The time dragon?
- 26:54SPEAKER_05: The time dragon clock.
- 26:55SPEAKER_05: See, we have to blame the author because they don't talk about this bullshit in the stage show.
- 27:00SPEAKER_05: You should see the stage show.
- 27:01SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna take you one.
- 27:02SPEAKER_05: I'm sure they say time dragon clock in the stage show.
- 27:04SPEAKER_04: That's not from the book.
- 27:05SPEAKER_04: That's something that's gotta be in the fucking that's gotta be in something.
- 27:07SPEAKER_04: No, no, no, no, no.
- 27:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, but do you like the hat?
- 27:09SPEAKER_04: Do you like the way the hat they landed on for the um the movie?
- 27:12SPEAKER_04: I'm okay with it.
- 27:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:14SPEAKER_04: Stitchy and witchy.
- 27:15SPEAKER_05: That's fine.
- 27:16SPEAKER_05: I think the costuming is pretty good.
- 27:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 27:18SPEAKER_05: I think Paul Tazwell is a genius.
- 27:20SPEAKER_05: He won the Oscar, right?
- 27:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:21SPEAKER_05: Um, and he probably should have.
- 27:23SPEAKER_05: It was I've seen a lot of like behind the scenes videos, and I think the costumes are really, really beautiful.
- 27:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 27:29SPEAKER_05: I think the hat's pretty cool.
- 27:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 27:31SPEAKER_05: No complaints.
- 27:33SPEAKER_05: I do have, uh I mean we're jumping ahead, but I really, really fucking hate the broom.
- 27:41SPEAKER_05: The broom.
- 27:42SPEAKER_05: The broom is out of control.
- 27:43SPEAKER_05: We'll get there.
- 27:44SPEAKER_05: We'll get there.
- 27:45SPEAKER_05: I hate the broom.
- 27:45SPEAKER_05: I hate the grimmery.
- 27:47SPEAKER_05: I don't mind the grimmy.
- 27:49SPEAKER_05: And I hate her uh wand.
- 27:52SPEAKER_05: Because, you know, yeah, yeah.
- 27:54SPEAKER_05: At the beginning.
- 27:55SPEAKER_05: You know, we love practical magic.
- 28:00SPEAKER_05: Practical sets.
- 28:01SPEAKER_05: We sure do.
- 28:02SPEAKER_05: We really do.
- 28:02SPEAKER_05: It makes all the difference.
- 28:03SPEAKER_05: We we believe in it.
- 28:05SPEAKER_05: We are all about art direction and production design.
- 28:08SPEAKER_05: That is our our our background and our interest.
- 28:12SPEAKER_05: Uh but they you know, the movie starts off with a brief shot of a field that uh includes involves nine million tulips.
- 28:24SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 28:25SPEAKER_05: Nine or ten.
- 28:25SPEAKER_05: I don't remember the number.
- 28:26SPEAKER_05: Nine is sounding more correct, but he planted or had nine million tulips planted.
- 28:32SPEAKER_05: And I I what did I say the other like we were talking?
- 28:35SPEAKER_05: I was like, you're like, I never thought that I would hear me say I don't need nine million tulips.
- 28:40SPEAKER_05: I truly never thought.
- 28:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 28:42SPEAKER_05: Because that sounds amazing.
- 28:43SPEAKER_05: I'm like, I want more.
- 28:44SPEAKER_05: Make it 10, make it 20.
- 28:46SPEAKER_05: But you I gotta, I gotta like see that budget line.
- 28:51SPEAKER_05: Cause like, honey, again, I want everything to be real, but why the nine million tools, the practical nine.
- 28:58SPEAKER_04: I should have timed, I should have timed it, but like, was it even 18 seconds?
- 29:01SPEAKER_04: I don't think so.
- 29:02SPEAKER_04: Was it even eight seconds?
- 29:03SPEAKER_04: I don't think so.
- 29:05SPEAKER_04: I it it that this to me, and again, maybe we'll we'll circle back to this at the end of this whole review, but the this movie uh maybe they'll change maybe they'll course correct a little bit in the in the second one, but this feels that the like the overarching mistake of this film is misdirected spectacle.
- 29:21SPEAKER_04: Like they built and created these gigantic things for the wrong reasons or like for the wrong amount of camera time, or something about it just doesn't add up to a pleasurable viewing experience.
- 29:35SPEAKER_04: Like nine million tulips, amazing.
- 29:37SPEAKER_04: That must have been a breathtaking set to have been to have worked on, to have shot, to be a part of, and then it's gone.
- 29:44SPEAKER_04: Literally, it's it's gone.
- 29:46SPEAKER_04: It that that is a fleeting.
- 29:48SPEAKER_05: It looks CGI, to be honest.
- 29:49SPEAKER_05: Well, because there is the problem.
- 29:51SPEAKER_04: I mean, it is it's a CGI extension of a practical subcorte.
- 29:55SPEAKER_04: Amazing, but it's like, what's the point?
- 29:57SPEAKER_04: You know, I I didn't see the point in that.
- 29:58SPEAKER_04: I didn't see the point in that either.
- 30:00SPEAKER_05: Maybe one million?
- 30:01SPEAKER_05: Call me crazy.
- 30:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that sounds like a enough.
- 30:04SPEAKER_05: And then stamp out the rest.
- 30:06SPEAKER_05: Or maybe And I'm never, I'm never this person.
- 30:08SPEAKER_05: I've never, again, I never thought I would hear my me saying these things.
- 30:12SPEAKER_05: Because like, I want real, but it just didn't make sense to me.
- 30:16SPEAKER_05: And who's taking care of these tulips?
- 30:18SPEAKER_04: Well, now we there's a great video.
- 30:20SPEAKER_04: I think it's on like is it Vanity Fair or something where the production designer is talking about the like the process, yeah.
- 30:26SPEAKER_04: The tulips.
- 30:26SPEAKER_04: I think it's like you have to like grow them and then kill them and then grow them again.
- 30:29SPEAKER_04: It was like years, which is like I mean, I know this movie had a a very long uh production history.
- 30:37SPEAKER_04: I would love to have actually gone through and read all of the names of the Glendas and Alphabas that were associated with the movie before they landed on Ariana and Cynthia.
- 30:45SPEAKER_05: I would love to know that.
- 30:46SPEAKER_05: I know Amanda Seyfried was close for Glenda, and I I don't know who was close for Alphaba, but at one point Nicole Scherzinger was attached to the project, which is like, girl, no.
- 30:59SPEAKER_05: Well, now she's on Broadway and she's now she's killing in on Broadway, so I'm kind of taking back my no, but I'm also just like, no, no, that's that would have been wrong.
- 31:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:07SPEAKER_05: Actually, Cynthia saves the movie.
- 31:09SPEAKER_05: She really is the movie.
- 31:10SPEAKER_05: I like can't even I I just really, really, really think she is the movie.
- 31:15SPEAKER_05: There is no one else.
- 31:16SPEAKER_04: Well, I actually think there is someone else.
- 31:17SPEAKER_04: Do you know who I think it is?
- 31:18SPEAKER_04: No, Gaga.
- 31:19SPEAKER_04: I'm just kidding, but you know, but you know, but you know, you know, Gaga read for awful bug.
- 31:25SPEAKER_04: I think she actually was attached to it for a second.
- 31:27SPEAKER_04: Her name was in there.
- 31:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:29SPEAKER_05: She with her fucking recent IMBD experience, like what she's trying to do, yeah.
- 31:35SPEAKER_05: She was in that room.
- 31:36SPEAKER_04: No, but you know who actually understands the assignment and is delivering everything is Jonathan Bailey as Fiero.
- 31:45SPEAKER_04: He's actually fucking killing it.
- 31:46SPEAKER_04: Killing it in a number of ways.
- 31:48SPEAKER_04: Only on the second viewing where I was like, you know what?
- 31:50SPEAKER_04: He's not only is he charming and hot and funny, he's a great actor.
- 31:55SPEAKER_04: He's a great actor and an amazing dancer.
- 31:57SPEAKER_04: I was like, he's amazing.
- 31:58SPEAKER_04: Triple threat.
- 31:59SPEAKER_05: It was it was and he was shooting two things and flying, apparently he was flying back and forth.
- 32:03SPEAKER_05: The only problem is that he's like fucking 50.
- 32:05SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 32:06SPEAKER_05: It's like, who in the f is this kid going to school?
- 32:09SPEAKER_05: He's a wonderful, and I'm shocked that they don't he doesn't get compared to um Dermot, whatever, from My Best Friends' Wedding.
- 32:17SPEAKER_05: Dermot Mulroney?
- 32:18SPEAKER_05: Is that from My Best Friend's Wedding?
- 32:20SPEAKER_05: So, yeah.
- 32:20SPEAKER_05: Because they're very similar.
- 32:21SPEAKER_05: They're both British and handsome and gay.
- 32:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:24SPEAKER_05: I think they have like a similar mug.
- 32:26SPEAKER_05: It's like young version, but whatever.
- 32:27SPEAKER_05: I'm not, yeah, I should start the combo and compare.
- 32:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:31SPEAKER_05: But uh, I think yeah, he's amazing.
- 32:34SPEAKER_05: But um, classic case of like trying to take an old ass man and make him look younger, but all you did was make him look fatter and older.
- 32:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 32:43SPEAKER_05: I that that's it on my note for sure.
- 32:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:46SPEAKER_05: It was a lot of for whatever reason, like when there's like a guy that needs to become young and like cute, they hit him with like any shade of cinnamon.
- 32:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 32:56SPEAKER_05: It's always like cinnamon.
- 32:58SPEAKER_05: He also has like a blonde streak in his hair that reads as white.
- 33:01SPEAKER_04: It looks like he has like that lace mark needed some tweezing.
- 33:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that was I was seeing like the reshade.
- 33:07SPEAKER_04: But not like a college hairline.
- 33:09SPEAKER_04: Which, like, I they're in I guess they're in college, right?
- 33:11SPEAKER_04: Like, who fucking knows?
- 33:12SPEAKER_04: Anyway, who knows?
- 33:14SPEAKER_04: We're still at minute one of the film.
- 33:15SPEAKER_04: Um, anyway.
- 33:17SPEAKER_04: So let's jump into goodness knows slash no one mourns the wicked.
- 33:20SPEAKER_04: This is the this is the the opening number of of the of the film.
- 33:23SPEAKER_04: We go through the true-ups, we land in Munchkin Land.
- 33:26SPEAKER_04: Gago.
- 33:27SPEAKER_04: Um, the only thing I didn't like about Munchkin Land was I don't know what it really means that everyone is ginger or like a lot of them are ginger.
- 33:34SPEAKER_04: Wait, I did almost write that down.
- 33:36SPEAKER_04: I didn't actually because I was like, that's too much.
- 33:38SPEAKER_04: Are they related?
- 33:39SPEAKER_04: I'm like, is this all Box?
- 33:41SPEAKER_04: Box?
- 33:41SPEAKER_04: Bach, the redhead guy from Box Wigs, yeah.
- 33:45SPEAKER_04: They got a con of supply.
- 33:47SPEAKER_04: Anyway, uh, goodness knows no one mourns the wicked.
- 33:50SPEAKER_04: Um that number is cunt.
- 33:52SPEAKER_04: Well, parts of it are cunt.
- 33:54SPEAKER_04: The song is cunt, but you know what?
- 33:55SPEAKER_04: Ariana Slaytina's that.
- 33:57SPEAKER_04: I have two notes.
- 33:58SPEAKER_04: One is how embarrassing must it be to sing some of these lyrics.
- 34:04SPEAKER_04: Rejoicify like the language that like the film uses.
- 34:08SPEAKER_04: For sure.
- 34:09SPEAKER_04: Like the fucking made-up words that they say.
- 34:10SPEAKER_04: Humiliating.
- 34:11SPEAKER_04: Humiliating.
- 34:12SPEAKER_04: But you know what's fucking wrong about this number is the fucking choreography.
- 34:18SPEAKER_05: The choreo in general, I think I actually have to say, I fucking hate.
- 34:22SPEAKER_05: It really is wrong.
- 34:23SPEAKER_05: I really, really, really hate it.
- 34:25SPEAKER_05: And I know John Chu worked with the same choreographer who did I didn't see what the the last musical he did, but he probably got this job because he did a musical that was like well received.
- 34:37SPEAKER_05: Was it Matilda?
- 34:38SPEAKER_05: No.
- 34:38SPEAKER_05: But but I literally last night I was like, did this choreographer do Matilda?
- 34:44SPEAKER_05: You gotta look it up because I was like, in Matilda.
- 34:46SPEAKER_05: Because it's very Matilda.
- 34:47SPEAKER_05: In Matilda, it was very like very like broom broom mop.
- 34:52SPEAKER_05: I feel bad dragging it because there are moments of like cool choreography, but on the whole, I think I actually I have to say the word hate.
- 35:03SPEAKER_05: I actually hate the choreography.
- 35:05SPEAKER_04: I would say, I would say hate.
- 35:07SPEAKER_04: And again, this comes later in um in The Emerald City, but it's like, why are they crumping?
- 35:14SPEAKER_04: They're crumping.
- 35:15SPEAKER_05: They're literally crumping.
- 35:16SPEAKER_05: Like, why are they crumping?
- 35:17SPEAKER_05: They're popping their lock and they're crumping, they're stomping, and they're whipping around these braids.
- 35:22SPEAKER_05: There's like a moment it's like keep researching away because I have things to say.
- 35:27SPEAKER_05: I really do enjoy the diegetic sound in the soundtrack.
- 35:32SPEAKER_05: And I think a lot of like fans want the diegetic version released because I do think that's cool that John added that in.
- 35:39SPEAKER_04: The like, rock, rack, k, I'm not, I'm not getting Matilda, but uh, but there's an overlap there.
- 35:45SPEAKER_05: It's so funny you said that because I was like, I'm seeing Matilda last night.
- 35:48SPEAKER_05: I literally said that.
- 35:49SPEAKER_04: But the reason why Matilda works, like that number, like rotten kids or whatever it is, is there is that viral moment of like all the kids like doing like kind of like very hip-hop inspired moves down a hallway.
- 35:57SPEAKER_04: That felt like it was rebellious and raucous and it was useful, and it made sense that these kids were like doing something that felt kind of like energetic and athletic.
- 36:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:05SPEAKER_04: It doesn't make any sense that the fucking munchkin landers are like boom, cat, boom, boom, boom, cat.
- 36:11SPEAKER_04: It's like what's going on, stomp, stomp, shuffle.
- 36:14SPEAKER_05: It's uggo poo-poo.
- 36:15SPEAKER_05: It's ugly poo-poo.
- 36:18SPEAKER_05: It really is.
- 36:20SPEAKER_05: Again, technical term, yeah.
- 36:21SPEAKER_05: Technical term.
- 36:23SPEAKER_05: It's ug poo-poo.
- 36:26SPEAKER_05: I hate it.
- 36:27SPEAKER_05: I really do.
- 36:28SPEAKER_05: I've grown to hate it.
- 36:28SPEAKER_05: I hate it.
- 36:29SPEAKER_05: And it sucks to say that because again, there are moments where it's cool and I appreciate the choices they make towards the choreography in terms of like including parkour, like and rocket launchers and and and t-shirt cannons.
- 36:46SPEAKER_05: Oh my god.
- 36:48SPEAKER_05: But do you think do well, one, do you like the diegetic sound that adds to the soundtrack?
- 36:54SPEAKER_05: The stomp stomp books like whatever clomp.
- 36:57SPEAKER_05: Uh it's a non issue for me.
- 36:59SPEAKER_05: I think it adds.
- 37:00SPEAKER_05: I think it's cool.
- 37:01SPEAKER_05: And I wonder, can you have the same addition, like that same layer, but a different choreography?
- 37:08SPEAKER_05: Probably.
- 37:09SPEAKER_05: Probably.
- 37:10SPEAKER_05: Probably.
- 37:11SPEAKER_05: But it is, yeah.
- 37:11SPEAKER_05: Like I get the like.
- 37:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 37:15SPEAKER_05: Like that sounds cool with the music, but it doesn't necessarily look cool.
- 37:18SPEAKER_05: And I know as someone with a little intel, uh, I know a lot of people who were a part of the production of Wicked were offended or like disappointed in the choreography because it paid zero homage to the show choreography.
- 37:37SPEAKER_05: And people, like, I don't know, teams that were involved with that were sort of like oof.
- 37:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 37:43SPEAKER_05: Because like the vocals, I guess, apparently pay homage to the show, the stage show.
- 37:47SPEAKER_05: They cast a lot of people that were in past productions, which is like cool.
- 37:52SPEAKER_05: It felt like there were cameos.
- 37:53SPEAKER_05: I mean, I definitely feel like many, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:56SPEAKER_05: Including the dad, because I'm like, you're kind of a bad actor.
- 37:59SPEAKER_05: You're you're kind of acting for stage, and it means you were maybe like the second like dad on Broadway.
- 38:04SPEAKER_05: He's kind of a he was kind of a bad actor, but he was fucking belting.
- 38:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 38:08SPEAKER_04: He was like, this is good.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: It's like, okay, dad, like Jesus.
- 38:12SPEAKER_05: Daddy, daddy, daddy.
- 38:13SPEAKER_05: That's why it's my role, because I'm like, yeah.
- 38:15SPEAKER_05: Okay, I'm seeing it now.
- 38:17SPEAKER_05: Um, but yeah, apparently they, you know, respected the vocals because it's not it's the chorus and the whatever, I don't know, music, but it's not a heavy vibrato type of singing.
- 38:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 38:32SPEAKER_05: It's sort of that's the wicked sound, is like no vibrato, sort of except for Glinda, I guess, because she's more operating.
- 38:39SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 38:39SPEAKER_05: But I know what you mean.
- 38:41SPEAKER_05: But I did love Glinda's uh like Ariana studying and like adjusting her style of singing towards more something more operatic, is like respect.
- 38:54SPEAKER_05: You did a great job.
- 38:55SPEAKER_05: Critics will say what they will say.
- 38:58SPEAKER_05: I think in general it was really well received, mostly.
- 39:01SPEAKER_05: And to me, I thought it would sounded great in my ear.
- 39:03SPEAKER_05: I'm like, I hear those opera notes.
- 39:05SPEAKER_05: Kristen Chenamith, I'm sorry, I'm sure maybe she's technically better at those notes or that kind of operatic singing, but it's not something I want to hear.
- 39:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 39:14SPEAKER_05: Where there was something really pleasant about Ariana's voice where I'm like, ooh, I'm liking this, honey.
- 39:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 39:20SPEAKER_04: My only note about Ariana's singing was it sometimes felt like she was singing as a character.
- 39:28SPEAKER_04: She's making choices that didn't feel familiar to me as what I understand her voice to be.
- 39:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:36SPEAKER_04: And I think sometimes it had to do with the humor.
- 39:38SPEAKER_04: And we'll get there.
- 39:39SPEAKER_04: It's more in kind of like there.
- 39:42SPEAKER_04: There's so much.
- 39:43SPEAKER_04: Um then we start into the flashback of Alphabet.
- 39:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 39:46SPEAKER_05: But I will say really quick, I did love the bubble.
- 39:49SPEAKER_05: Last night I was like, wow, that bubble's the bubble was cool.
- 39:52SPEAKER_05: It was jiggly.
- 39:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 39:53SPEAKER_05: Like she was, it was like that was pretty.
- 39:56SPEAKER_04: So pop off.
- 39:57SPEAKER_04: Pop off.
- 39:57SPEAKER_04: Pop that bubble.
- 39:58SPEAKER_04: Um then we see Alphabet's origin, not too much there to talk about.
- 40:03SPEAKER_04: Can I talk about our wand?
- 40:04SPEAKER_05: Sure, we'll talk about the wand, yeah.
- 40:05SPEAKER_05: Because again, practical sets, practical props, a lot of that shit.
- 40:10SPEAKER_05: That's wonderful.
- 40:10SPEAKER_05: And that we really believe in that.
- 40:12SPEAKER_05: But like there is a time and a place for a little CGI.
- 40:15SPEAKER_05: Because that fucking wand to me looked very cheap.
- 40:18SPEAKER_05: It looked like not I not even Swarovski.
- 40:22SPEAKER_05: Like, it just looked I just saw the real practicality of the fucking prop itself.
- 40:29SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, what if that just had a little CGI glow?
- 40:31SPEAKER_05: It certainly could have been pushed more fantastical for sure.
- 40:35SPEAKER_05: What if it was just like practical with a little CGI glow at the tip?
- 40:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 40:39SPEAKER_05: You know, the whole time.
- 40:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 40:40SPEAKER_05: It was just too practical.
- 40:42SPEAKER_05: I was like, this looks cheap.
- 40:43SPEAKER_05: Uh-huh.
- 40:43SPEAKER_05: That looks like you can buy it.
- 40:45SPEAKER_05: And I did.
- 40:46SPEAKER_04: I bought it.
- 40:47SPEAKER_04: And it's on its way.
- 40:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's commemorative tonight.
- 40:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:50SPEAKER_04: Um, so then I I mean, I I I I it didn't flag for me, but I I know what you mean.
- 40:55SPEAKER_04: It's fine.
- 40:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:56SPEAKER_05: It's definitely passable.
- 40:57SPEAKER_05: Again, we're being psychopaths.
- 40:59SPEAKER_05: But we are.
- 40:59SPEAKER_05: So yeah, yeah, we are.
- 41:01SPEAKER_05: And again, my uh A- Adaptation B visuals.
- 41:08SPEAKER_05: So those are good grades.
- 41:09SPEAKER_05: Take all this with a grain, honey.
- 41:12SPEAKER_05: T.
- 41:13SPEAKER_05: T.
- 41:13SPEAKER_04: So then uh Elpha.
- 41:15SPEAKER_05: Did you like her shoulder crystals?
- 41:17SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 41:18SPEAKER_04: I thought they were stupid.
- 41:20SPEAKER_04: I I didn't get them.
- 41:22SPEAKER_04: I sometimes felt like Ariana's costumes were wearing her a little bit.
- 41:27SPEAKER_05: A little bit.
- 41:27SPEAKER_05: Well, she's so slight.
- 41:29SPEAKER_05: Slight, yes, is the word.
- 41:30SPEAKER_05: Slight.
- 41:31SPEAKER_05: I hated her hair the whole entire fucking show.
- 41:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 41:35SPEAKER_04: We she could have used a root, she could have used a low light.
- 41:38SPEAKER_04: They they bleached her brows, which is never the right choice.
- 41:42SPEAKER_05: When do I get into like what I think about that?
- 41:44SPEAKER_05: I guess now, really quick.
- 41:46SPEAKER_05: Sure.
- 41:46SPEAKER_04: Well, she El Glinda was introduced during this moment.
- 41:48SPEAKER_05: So let's get into what she looks like.
- 41:49SPEAKER_05: What do you think about her and everything?
- 41:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 41:51SPEAKER_05: She, I know she stopped tanning and stopped with the fillers and the b whatever.
- 41:55SPEAKER_05: And that's cute.
- 41:56SPEAKER_05: I respect that.
- 41:57SPEAKER_05: But also, she just would have looked cuter with a little bit of a spurry tan and a gold, like a warm blonde would have been so pretty.
- 42:07SPEAKER_05: That's tonal.
- 42:08SPEAKER_05: We're talking about shades in terms of her skin and her brows, bleach, brown steaky.
- 42:14SPEAKER_05: If it was a warmer blonde, she could have had a darker brow.
- 42:17SPEAKER_05: And then additionally, I didn't like her wig design.
- 42:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 42:21SPEAKER_05: It was stylish and just sort of contemporary and pretty.
- 42:25SPEAKER_05: But not an inch of volume.
- 42:26SPEAKER_05: There was they were flat.
- 42:29SPEAKER_05: The hair was flat.
- 42:29SPEAKER_05: They were flat flat.
- 42:30SPEAKER_05: And you know what?
- 42:31SPEAKER_05: I actually don't think, and it's not necessarily.
- 42:33SPEAKER_05: Maybe in part two.
- 42:34SPEAKER_05: She'll get a little bit more backcombing in part two.
- 42:39SPEAKER_05: Um they they invented rat tails.
- 42:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 42:42SPEAKER_05: Rat tail combs uh in part two.
- 42:44SPEAKER_05: I don't, I think, and it's not the wig designer's fault necessarily, because like maybe you know it's pre-pro and they're coming up with the looks while like they're rehearsing and figuring out the character, but I don't think it served her performance, to be honest.
- 42:59SPEAKER_05: On Broadway, like Glinda has a very tight piggy curl, prom do.
- 43:04SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 43:04SPEAKER_05: And I'm not saying that's necessarily correct for film, but I do think there could have been more of a sense of humor with her hair.
- 43:12SPEAKER_05: Because it was sort of just pretty and contemporary.
- 43:14SPEAKER_05: Like any woman with that hairstyle right now would be like, oh, you have good hair.
- 43:19SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 43:20SPEAKER_05: And yes, one or two of the wigs had like a finger, not a finger wave, but like a little bit of a groove in the texture near her scalp.
- 43:31SPEAKER_04: I agree because I do think and we might get into this again, we get into like more like later Glinda numbers, but there's a little for me, there's a little bit of I think her arc as a character was done a disservice by how funny Ariana played her kind of the entire time.
- 43:53SPEAKER_04: Because I think there's supposed to be this reveal that Glinda is kind of like a fucking weirdo.
- 43:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:58SPEAKER_04: In this way that makes her like just as much.
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: Of like a nerd loser as Elvaba.
- 44:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:02SPEAKER_04: But she was always kind of like playing for laughs in the same kind of sense of humor the whole time.
- 44:09SPEAKER_04: So it was a little flat for me.
- 44:12SPEAKER_04: I I I could have I could have enjoyed her being a little bit weirder, like you're saying, like her hair could have been a little dumber, funnier.
- 44:17SPEAKER_05: I think her hair could have complimented what the choices she were she was making.
- 44:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 44:22SPEAKER_05: Which maybe there wasn't time for that, or like I don't know.
- 44:25SPEAKER_05: Or like she, I don't know.
- 44:27SPEAKER_05: The collaboration.
- 44:28SPEAKER_05: I mean, the way that it works with celebs is that they get the final say on what they want to look like.
- 44:32SPEAKER_05: So it really doesn't matter.
- 44:33SPEAKER_05: It's like but I think it could have been funnier.
- 44:35SPEAKER_05: I think her hair could have been more comedic.
- 44:36SPEAKER_05: Totally.
- 44:37SPEAKER_05: Which would have spoken to her choices, the choices that she were was making, you know?
- 44:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 44:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 44:43SPEAKER_05: Um not necessarily like a tight curl, but like, I don't know, victory rolls, something a little more.
- 44:49SPEAKER_05: It would be really fun.
- 44:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 44:51SPEAKER_05: I think it would be victory rolls for me, or and then like a flip a little more like sixties clueless.
- 44:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 44:58SPEAKER_05: Like definitely not clueless, but like you could kind of get away with any change.
- 45:02SPEAKER_05: Josie and the pussycat dolls.
- 45:03SPEAKER_05: Like something else.
- 45:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 45:09SPEAKER_05: Okay, sequel alert.
- 45:12SPEAKER_05: Mash up.
- 45:12SPEAKER_05: Mashup.
- 45:14SPEAKER_05: It should have just had more personality.
- 45:15SPEAKER_05: It was contemporary here to me.
- 45:17SPEAKER_05: No offense.
- 45:18SPEAKER_04: Uh that brings us to Dulcie Bear.
- 45:21SPEAKER_05: They, okay, my note is okay.
- 45:24SPEAKER_05: I I'm sure losers will correct me, but they don't Dulcie Bear is not a part of the stage.
- 45:32SPEAKER_05: They are pushing Dulcie Bear so hard on us.
- 45:36SPEAKER_05: They are shoving Dulcie down our throats.
- 45:39SPEAKER_05: And it's like, okay, we get it.
- 45:40SPEAKER_05: Dulcie Bear is my queen.
- 45:42SPEAKER_04: Dulcie Bear.
- 45:43SPEAKER_05: She is.
- 45:43SPEAKER_05: She's concerned.
- 45:44SPEAKER_05: She's canon.
- 45:44SPEAKER_04: She's queen.
- 45:46SPEAKER_04: But it's just like we get it.
- 45:48SPEAKER_04: Uh in Alpha's Origin, uh, I thought baby Nessa Rose, so cute.
- 45:54SPEAKER_04: That little actor who plays her was adorable.
- 45:56SPEAKER_05: Okay, I wrote down insane kid casting for the both of them.
- 46:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 46:01SPEAKER_05: Congrats.
- 46:02SPEAKER_05: Really good.
- 46:03SPEAKER_05: Really good.
- 46:03SPEAKER_05: Congrats to the team.
- 46:05SPEAKER_04: To the casting team.
- 46:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:06SPEAKER_05: To the the both of those children that look literally like young versions of the fucking character.
- 46:12SPEAKER_05: Truly unbelievable.
- 46:14SPEAKER_05: And I respect that.
- 46:14SPEAKER_05: I appreciate that.
- 46:15SPEAKER_04: And, you know, you know, in a post second Trump term world, it's really good representation because the it both of the of the Nessa Rose actors are people in wheelchairs.
- 46:25SPEAKER_04: And they did really both look like how they would grow up into like those characters.
- 46:29SPEAKER_04: Definitely.
- 46:30SPEAKER_04: I was like kind of blown away.
- 46:31SPEAKER_04: But but upon second viewing, I realized that Kid Alphaba is wearing the same glasses as adult alphabet, and they are distracting.
- 46:41SPEAKER_04: They're distracting.
- 46:42SPEAKER_05: I didn't notice that necessarily, but I did notice the nail.
- 46:45SPEAKER_05: She the kid had a nail?
- 46:47SPEAKER_05: The kid had a nail.
- 46:48SPEAKER_05: And it was a little bit dinosaur because it was like small.
- 46:51SPEAKER_05: And I think maybe they were trying to justify.
- 46:54SPEAKER_05: I know Cynthia Revo pushed for having like nails, which I think is so cool.
- 46:59SPEAKER_05: Um maybe they were trying to justify that a little bit.
- 47:03SPEAKER_05: I don't know why it's like she's born with them.
- 47:07SPEAKER_05: They were a little dinosaur.
- 47:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 47:09SPEAKER_05: As on a child.
- 47:10SPEAKER_05: I saw the press on.
- 47:12SPEAKER_04: What do I know?
- 47:13SPEAKER_04: It is really cool for Cynthia to push that because A, it's a part of like her character as an actual person.
- 47:19SPEAKER_04: Uh it's, you know, it's it's black cultural, which is amazing.
- 47:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 47:22SPEAKER_04: But it's also like part of the fucking wicked witch.
- 47:25SPEAKER_05: Like she was referencing black culture and Margaret Hamilton.
- 47:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 47:29SPEAKER_05: Like the like shot.
- 47:30SPEAKER_05: And I I love that.
- 47:31SPEAKER_05: And I love that she put her neck out for micro braids.
- 47:35SPEAKER_05: It's so cool.
- 47:35SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 47:36SPEAKER_05: I love all the decisions she made in her collaboration with John, yeah, the director, and I'm sure many other designers involved.
- 47:43SPEAKER_05: But the one thing that I did write down that I'm like unsure about.
- 47:46SPEAKER_05: It's hard for me to say this because like I really respect people that opt for a contact, uh-huh.
- 47:52SPEAKER_05: But I'm not sure I lived for the I just would have liked the scene, like I would like to see a side by side of like her with no contact.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: I wish the little lizard aid.
- 48:02SPEAKER_04: It's I I I wish I had been there on the day that they were doing the makeup test where it was like between her and Ariana, who is gonna get the contact?
- 48:10SPEAKER_05: Well, like, if they're gonna go for that ashy Nordic blonde on Ariana's washed out brow, skin, and hair, why not pop a little blue contact in?
- 48:19SPEAKER_04: She could have used it.
- 48:20SPEAKER_05: You're gonna go that far, pop a blue contact in.
- 48:22SPEAKER_04: It probably looked insane.
- 48:23SPEAKER_05: Even a desiaba.
- 48:25SPEAKER_04: Alphabet is green, so probably she can get away with more.
- 48:28SPEAKER_04: So she was the one who got the contact.
- 48:30SPEAKER_04: Well, she pushed for it.
- 48:31SPEAKER_05: She was like, I want the green to come from within.
- 48:33SPEAKER_05: Interesting.
- 48:34SPEAKER_05: And I think that's really cool.
- 48:35SPEAKER_05: And I like maybe if I saw a side by side, I'd be like, okay, go for it.
- 48:38SPEAKER_05: But without seeing the side by side, I'm sort of like, it's a little lizardy.
- 48:42SPEAKER_05: It didn't, it didn't bother me.
- 48:43SPEAKER_05: I didn't need it.
- 48:44SPEAKER_05: It was pretty enough, and I ultimately respect the choice because like I want someone to like push for contacts.
- 48:50SPEAKER_05: People are so afraid to wear contacts in like film.
- 48:53SPEAKER_04: Anyway, uh, so we go we go back to um uh No One Mourns the Wicked.
- 48:58SPEAKER_04: Uh she's like, uh, oh yeah, we were friends at school, and then we go to school.
- 49:03SPEAKER_04: So we go to Shiz.
- 49:04SPEAKER_04: It's 13 minutes into the movie, and then we get the opening titles, which the opening titles are fucking cunt.
- 49:11SPEAKER_04: Amazing.
- 49:11SPEAKER_04: That classic Wizard of Oz graphic treatment.
- 49:15SPEAKER_04: So cool.
- 49:15SPEAKER_04: That to me came out of nowhere.
- 49:18SPEAKER_04: I I when I think of wicked, I don't think of that.
- 49:20SPEAKER_04: I think of clockworks and wheels and bullshit.
- 49:22SPEAKER_04: That was steampunk.
- 49:23SPEAKER_04: I was like crust.
- 49:25SPEAKER_04: Yes, Mary, the graphic designer who found who pushed for that, went that way.
- 49:30SPEAKER_04: Cantiana got that in.
- 49:31SPEAKER_04: That is Contra Super Supremo.
- 49:34SPEAKER_05: No, I'm so glad you're talking about that because I really did like appreciate that.
- 49:37SPEAKER_05: I thought it was so cool.
- 49:38SPEAKER_05: So cool.
- 49:39SPEAKER_05: And it was fun that it happened to me, at least like as a surprise.
- 49:42SPEAKER_05: As a surprise, but also as late as it did occur.
- 49:46SPEAKER_05: 13 minutes in.
- 49:46SPEAKER_05: 13 minutes in.
- 49:47SPEAKER_05: I was kind of like, because I just wasn't expecting it.
- 49:49SPEAKER_05: So I was like, ah! I'm like, I was like, ah a little bit.
- 49:56SPEAKER_04: A little bit.
- 49:57SPEAKER_02: A little bit.
- 49:57SPEAKER_04: Um, I loved it.
- 49:58SPEAKER_04: It was it's beautiful, but true, really, really, really beautiful graphic design.
- 50:02SPEAKER_04: So smart, so fresh, different.
- 50:04SPEAKER_04: So cool.
- 50:04SPEAKER_04: Like way cooler than like the fucking stupid ass superhero poster with like the pink and green gradient and like the wicked font.
- 50:10SPEAKER_04: Like they went hard on the pink and green.
- 50:12SPEAKER_04: They really did.
- 50:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:13SPEAKER_05: Because in the stage show, Alpha, I mean, Glinda has wears a lot of pink, but also her they couldn't get the MGM whatever rights to the original Wizard of Oz, Glinda Pink.
- 50:24SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 50:24SPEAKER_05: But now in the movie they could, so she was in pink.
- 50:26SPEAKER_05: But in the city, in the blue.
- 50:28SPEAKER_04: Right, but in the glass.
- 50:28SPEAKER_04: Isn't that still blue?
- 50:30SPEAKER_04: It's black and white, though.
- 50:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:31SPEAKER_04: That's like the it's like that the you know the classic photo.
- 50:35SPEAKER_05: Which I hate that they they like recreated it, but it wasn't good.
- 50:38SPEAKER_04: It really oh my god, we maybe we could talk about that for one second because the way the way that Cynthia kind of went off about like I know, she kind of spiraled, and I get it, because I think it was right before the movie came out and she was feeling a little insecure or nervous.
- 50:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 50:50SPEAKER_05: I get that she's like going about for like her version of Alpha, but I'm like, but at the end of the day, it's sort of this like iconic imagery.
- 50:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 50:59SPEAKER_05: Like just give a little Find it, find it.
- 51:04SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 51:07SPEAKER_05: You're supposed to be whispering in my ear as the fucking goat.
- 51:09SPEAKER_05: I thought you said you would you didn't want to recreate that photo.
- 51:12SPEAKER_05: I was I I said it one time.
- 51:13SPEAKER_05: Not as you as a goat.
- 51:16SPEAKER_05: But yeah, it's a smirk.
- 51:17SPEAKER_05: She needed a smirk.
- 51:18SPEAKER_05: It's like someone take the liquefied tool and just lift that up.
- 51:22SPEAKER_05: That felt like Ariana could have had like Yeah.
- 51:26SPEAKER_05: The hand very like she gave very like, I want my hand to look small, and it is small, and that's fine.
- 51:32SPEAKER_05: But I'm like, can we get a little gayness or a little flair?
- 51:37SPEAKER_04: Or how about a little like sexuality?
- 51:39SPEAKER_04: It's difficult to translate a 2D graphic image to three three dimensions.
- 51:43SPEAKER_04: If it can't it it it is.
- 51:44SPEAKER_04: If you can't get it perfectly, why not like a twist?
- 51:46SPEAKER_05: Well, that's why I think it's like sexual.
- 51:49SPEAKER_05: For once, I think it's like actually go a little sexual with it.
- 51:52SPEAKER_04: Like a little, like I feel the pink and green thing is a studio mandate to create equality between the star power of Ariana and Cynthia.
- 52:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 52:04SPEAKER_04: You know, it's like it's pink and green, it's not just green.
- 52:07SPEAKER_05: I so respect Ariana for like letting Cynthia have her moment or pushing for Cynthia to have her moment because it's like so cool.
- 52:15SPEAKER_05: It is Cynthia's, I mean Ariana's first big role and all that shit.
- 52:18SPEAKER_05: She's getting so much attention, but I do think it's awesome that she's sort of like this.
- 52:22SPEAKER_05: Is my sister, she fucking is carrying this.
- 52:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah, go off.
- 52:27SPEAKER_05: But that's how I feel about you.
- 52:29SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 52:33SPEAKER_05: I'm like, you know what?
- 52:34SPEAKER_05: I think my hands have locked in.
- 52:36SPEAKER_05: Cool.
- 52:37SPEAKER_05: I think I can touch touch things.
- 52:39SPEAKER_05: They're cooked.
- 52:40SPEAKER_04: I'm loving the tights actually.
- 52:41SPEAKER_04: They're they're sort of working sitting down.
- 52:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 52:43SPEAKER_04: I couldn't tell if it cheapened the look.
- 52:44SPEAKER_04: I think it does, but it does.
- 52:46SPEAKER_04: It does, but it doesn't.
- 52:46SPEAKER_04: It does, but it doesn't.
- 52:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 52:47SPEAKER_05: You know what doesn't cheapen those the look?
- 52:49SPEAKER_05: The hat.
- 52:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 52:50SPEAKER_05: The hat looks expensive.
- 52:51SPEAKER_05: And you know what else?
- 52:52SPEAKER_05: The horns.
- 52:53SPEAKER_05: The horns.
- 52:54SPEAKER_05: And the hooves.
- 52:55SPEAKER_05: And the colored stone.
- 52:58SPEAKER_05: If you can't afford an emerald, just color it in.
- 53:00SPEAKER_02: Just draw it in.
- 53:01SPEAKER_04: Just draw it in.
- 53:01SPEAKER_04: Uh okay, so 13 minutes in, we get the graphic.
- 53:04SPEAKER_04: I like the swim in.
- 53:05SPEAKER_04: I like the swim in, and I liked the reasoning where it was like, okay, so Oz is a land where humans and animals coexist, so you can't have horses and carriages.
- 53:14SPEAKER_04: Trains only go into the Emerald City, so canals is a way you get into Shiz.
- 53:18SPEAKER_04: I was like, oh, that was smart.
- 53:19SPEAKER_04: I've been into that.
- 53:20SPEAKER_04: It's cool.
- 53:20SPEAKER_04: We had this kind of like little mermaid, you know, clear, beautiful water with magical fish up to Glinda's hand into Shiz.
- 53:28SPEAKER_04: But then instantly, once we're in that giant practical set, which now we could finally talk about it, it's fucking log flume water.
- 53:34SPEAKER_04: Dark, opaque brown chocolate water.
- 53:37SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 53:38SPEAKER_05: And I was like, wait, hold on.
- 53:39SPEAKER_05: Because again, Mike and I love production design and our production designers somehow.
- 53:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 53:44SPEAKER_05: The the way that they built.
- 53:46SPEAKER_04: It's a giant.
- 53:47SPEAKER_04: Obviously, there's CGI extensions, they kind of like built up.
- 53:50SPEAKER_04: But not as much as like you think.
- 53:51SPEAKER_04: It's a huge football field-sized set with actual flooded water that you can ride boats in on.
- 53:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 53:59SPEAKER_05: Um, which you know, it was people in green Sentai suits.
- 54:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 54:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 54:03SPEAKER_05: Which I love.
- 54:04SPEAKER_05: Because like at first it was like, is it a track?
- 54:06SPEAKER_05: Is it a this?
- 54:06SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, I love that it's just like that's the a great use of CGI.
- 54:11SPEAKER_05: It's like removing, not adding.
- 54:13SPEAKER_05: It's like that's so cool to me, but continue.
- 54:15SPEAKER_04: They leaned into the spectacle of building a gigantic practical set, but they didn't core they didn't like solve for any of the problems that that created.
- 54:23SPEAKER_04: You create a canal system in a set, this gray, opaque water, it winds up looking like fucking a water park.
- 54:30SPEAKER_04: It's turd lagoon.
- 54:31SPEAKER_04: They literally designed a turd lagoon, but it's gigantic and it's and it's amazing and it's expensive and it's huge.
- 54:37SPEAKER_04: Expensive.
- 54:37SPEAKER_04: The problem for me was because the set was so vast, they were locked into using naturalistic lighting, which meant it was like just completely diffuse and from above.
- 54:45SPEAKER_04: Everything got flattened to filth.
- 54:47SPEAKER_04: There was not an ounce of contrast within those Shiz sets.
- 54:52SPEAKER_04: It was a little too much practical light for me.
- 54:53SPEAKER_04: It was too practical.
- 54:54SPEAKER_04: It cheapened the entire experience.
- 54:56SPEAKER_04: I was like, you built it.
- 54:58SPEAKER_04: Why not build these moments?
- 55:00SPEAKER_04: You can literally, you know, the the designer was like, we're referencing kind of everything.
- 55:03SPEAKER_04: We've got arabesque architecture, we've got classical architecture, we've got all the stuff.
- 55:07SPEAKER_05: Okay, I actually last night I was like, actually, if I really look at the sets except the Osdust, uh, I think all the sets are beautiful, except the Osdust.
- 55:15SPEAKER_05: You, if you if you're referencing everything, you could get away with anything.
- 55:18SPEAKER_05: It's like reference David La Chapelle.
- 55:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 55:20SPEAKER_05: Like true.
- 55:21SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 55:22SPEAKER_05: It's like someone turn up some sort of like the phagometer.
- 55:26SPEAKER_05: The phagometer.
- 55:26SPEAKER_05: You needed to pop a little bit.
- 55:28SPEAKER_05: I don't want to see, because they built this football field arena, which is so amazing and so cool, they decided to rely on a lot of natural light.
- 55:36SPEAKER_05: Or they just decided to use lighting that felt like natural light.
- 55:39SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 55:39SPEAKER_04: They were like, there, there's only it's a it's natural.
- 55:41SPEAKER_05: I think it's a combo of both.
- 55:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 55:43SPEAKER_05: But they shot in London forever and ever.
- 55:45SPEAKER_05: And it's a lot to me, a lot of London gray overcast.
- 55:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 55:50SPEAKER_05: And it's like, I don't want to see one practical sky and Oz.
- 55:54SPEAKER_05: No offense.
- 55:55SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 55:55SPEAKER_05: It's like, give the give me the full throttle, like lime green grass and like cyan sky, like, you know, give me Charlie's Angels that color palette.
- 56:04SPEAKER_05: I really last night is the lighting.
- 56:06SPEAKER_05: I last night I was really trying to look at his sets because like I appreciate you know his approach.
- 56:11SPEAKER_05: And I I think that a lot of the sets, most of them, again, a sus are beautiful.
- 56:17SPEAKER_05: And so whose fault is it?
- 56:18SPEAKER_05: The the gafer?
- 56:20SPEAKER_05: Gaffer?
- 56:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah, the gaffer.
- 56:22SPEAKER_05: What's the same color as the gold?
- 56:24SPEAKER_05: Ultimately, yeah.
- 56:25SPEAKER_05: But it's it's a lot, it's a lot of London fog.
- 56:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 56:28SPEAKER_05: I want London fog.
- 56:30SPEAKER_05: Like going back insane.
- 56:31SPEAKER_05: Are they horrible?
- 56:32SPEAKER_05: They're amazing.
- 56:33SPEAKER_05: But you know what's horrible?
- 56:34SPEAKER_05: My fucking hairline.
- 56:37SPEAKER_04: You can't tell.
- 56:38SPEAKER_05: No, no one will be able to tell here.
- 56:39SPEAKER_05: I'll be able to tell as a boy later.
- 56:41SPEAKER_05: To me, the Shiz set was a huge flop.
- 56:44SPEAKER_04: I really, yeah, I really think it I think it looks cheap, ugly, and cheap, which there's I which we know we literally know it's not cheap.
- 56:52SPEAKER_04: It's so expensive.
- 56:53SPEAKER_04: And to me, there's no excuse.
- 56:54SPEAKER_04: I thought the greens were horrible.
- 56:57SPEAKER_04: Some of that vinage that they were doing, literally like hot breath.
- 57:02SPEAKER_04: Horrible.
- 57:03SPEAKER_04: Horrible.
- 57:04SPEAKER_04: Scorching magma, horrible.
- 57:06SPEAKER_04: It's giving scorching.
- 57:07SPEAKER_04: I just don't think there's an excuse for being confused as a viewer.
- 57:11SPEAKER_04: Like the movie's job is to like tell the story.
- 57:14SPEAKER_04: And one of the ways you tell the story and like transmit information is through the visuals, through the sense of place.
- 57:19SPEAKER_04: I have no fucking clue where we are in Shiz.
- 57:21SPEAKER_04: Like all of a sudden she's in a grotto with the with a uh sculpture of the wizard's head, and then she's outside in a cornfield.
- 57:27SPEAKER_04: And it's like, yeah.
- 57:28SPEAKER_04: How did that happen?
- 57:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah, the grotto.
- 57:30SPEAKER_05: Wait.
- 57:31SPEAKER_05: I did appreciate, or I'm like, they're hammering in, maybe it's the book, the politics of like the animals being erased.
- 57:37SPEAKER_05: It's revealed that there's like there once was an animal.
- 57:40SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 57:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 57:44SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 57:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 57:44SPEAKER_05: Dulce beer Dulce Bear was here.
- 57:46SPEAKER_05: Shoving it down my ass.
- 57:47SPEAKER_04: Dulce Bear was shoving it up my pooper.
- 57:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 57:50SPEAKER_05: Sure.
- 57:50SPEAKER_05: Dulce Bear was here.
- 57:52SPEAKER_05: Oh, but the grotto was out of control.
- 57:56SPEAKER_05: Because I forgot about that.
- 57:57SPEAKER_05: I'm like, wow, Jeff Goldbloom.
- 58:00SPEAKER_05: Goldberg?
- 58:01SPEAKER_05: Goldbloom.
- 58:01SPEAKER_04: It's like head is in cast and whatever.
- 58:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but also it's like, I don't know how time works in Oz, but it's like he hasn't been here for very long, right?
- 58:13SPEAKER_04: Like he flew in the in the balloon.
- 58:15SPEAKER_04: We don't know.
- 58:16SPEAKER_04: We don't know how it works.
- 58:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 58:17SPEAKER_05: Just it's a clock.
- 58:18SPEAKER_04: But somebody was like, I sculpt this really fast.
- 58:22SPEAKER_05: That was crazy.
- 58:23SPEAKER_05: And I actually enjoyed it.
- 58:24SPEAKER_05: I was like, I like it.
- 58:25SPEAKER_05: I like the little flutter of the like water reflection.
- 58:28SPEAKER_05: People, I think I think people said it was like projecting old Wizard of Oz footage.
- 58:33SPEAKER_05: Oh, and I'm like, shut up.
- 58:35SPEAKER_05: Can't see it.
- 58:35SPEAKER_04: So fine, whatever.
- 58:37SPEAKER_04: Shapes.
- 58:37SPEAKER_04: No, I was fine with that.
- 58:38SPEAKER_04: I think it was kind of funny and successful.
- 58:41SPEAKER_04: But I but my point though is that it's like she's walking around, she's singing her song.
- 58:44SPEAKER_04: What is it?
- 58:45SPEAKER_04: It's a wizard.
- 58:47SPEAKER_04: She's walking around, she's singing her.
- 58:49SPEAKER_04: She's she is amazing.
- 58:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 58:50SPEAKER_05: I'm a full believer.
- 58:52SPEAKER_05: I was on the fence until I saw, or I just didn't fully get it until I saw her sing.
- 58:58SPEAKER_05: No, before that.
- 58:59SPEAKER_05: Thank God.
- 59:00SPEAKER_05: I'm happy to say like it wasn't just the mo this movie that sold me because like I think she's talented enough that like I'm grateful that it happened.
- 59:08SPEAKER_05: Thank God earlier.
- 59:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 59:10SPEAKER_05: When she sang Alfie at like some award show, I'm like, I that's Michael Proudie's like go-to YouTube video.
- 59:17SPEAKER_04: Like, we will watch it like 13 times a month.
- 59:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 59:20SPEAKER_05: Oh my God.
- 59:21SPEAKER_05: That is she beyond.
- 59:23SPEAKER_05: Beyond.
- 59:24SPEAKER_05: And and in this romantic.
- 59:25SPEAKER_05: That's a toe in your ass chilling.
- 59:26SPEAKER_05: That's a toe in your ass.
- 59:28SPEAKER_05: What where does that come from?
- 59:29SPEAKER_05: You're the only one who remembers it.
- 59:31SPEAKER_04: This you you were like, critics are saying this that note is a toe in your ass chilling.
- 59:38SPEAKER_05: Oh, oh, when she goes, It's me, like changes the key.
- 59:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 59:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 59:42SPEAKER_05: And defying gravity.
- 59:43SPEAKER_05: Apparently, I said it's a toe in your ass chilling.
- 59:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 59:46SPEAKER_05: Because it is.
- 59:47SPEAKER_05: Oh, we'll get to that.
- 59:48SPEAKER_05: We'll get to that.
- 59:48SPEAKER_05: We'll get to that.
- 59:50SPEAKER_05: But um, yeah, Cynthia really, I think, made the movie, save the role.
- 59:55SPEAKER_05: I can't see anyone else in it.
- 59:56SPEAKER_05: And I really, really, really, really, really fucking, as someone who doesn't like Idina, it's obviously fucking Idina, original cast, and it's her.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_05: It's like she reinvented the role.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_05: It's so hard to do.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_05: It's so hard to sort of like adopt it and sort of be accepted as like the new the person who is this person role.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_05: And I think she succeeded, and that's so cool.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_05: Well, she definitely she she did it, amazing, amazing, amazing job.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_04: She's such a talent.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_04: It's beyond.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_04: It's truly like I like a blessing to live in a time where we get to experience her voice.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_04: Like that's her.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_04: Her acting is incredible too.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_04: My I my only note, and we'll talk about this when we get to like the fucking Ozdust scene, where it's like, I think she, and I know it's a I know it's a choice to play to play her as um confident and strong, uh, because it's supposed to be like a facade, and you know, she's actually really vulnerable and she's like, she she's craving friendship and connection, and then she finally finds that in Glinda.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_04: And that's why everything is so tragic when their friendship falls apart, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_04: I get it.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_04: But it's like, I felt like there was uh the choice to lean into the kind of cockiness a little bit.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_04: Some did in the same way that Ariana leaning into like the humor did her performance a disservice.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_04: I felt like it it did the not just Alphabet's arc, but the film's arc a little bit of a disservice where it was like It was a little weird.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_04: She's a little too she could have been a little nerdier and like a little less self-assured at the beginning.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_05: She she literally went to the side walks in and she's like she's like Yeah, and I think I said this to you before on stage typically it's uh portrayed more humorous, or for like comedy at the very beginning.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_05: She's sort of awkward and like comes up and is like, oh fuck, I am a loser.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_05: And then she's like Yeah.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_04: You know, it's very it is that it's like a comedic moment.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_04: Well, it's clearly Cynthia's bringing this other element to it.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_04: Maybe it's her otherness, maybe it's her queerness, and it's like blackness real.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_05: It's her blackness, it's so real and makes it makes the whole story make more sense in general.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_05: But I do think there could have been, after watching it last night, I'm like, I think it needed a comedic beat at the beginning.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_05: At the beginning, it would have enhanced just her emotional armor.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_04: A little start it a little bit of it at a disadvantage so she can grow into this place of, I don't know, just a little bit of contrast.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_04: Something, something, something.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_04: I think so too.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_05: I thought that scene is beautiful and like made everyone cry and is like Wait at the Oz Fest?
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_05: Well, no, no.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_05: We gotta get there.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_05: That's my least favorite part of the entire movie.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_05: But aren't isn't that what we're talking about?
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_05: Yes and no.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_04: We are we are talking about it.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_04: But I think I think that something happens there that is like something went wrong there, like in a way that's like beyond the movie.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_04: We'll talk about it.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_05: I think it's mostly great, but we'll get the record.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_05: We'll get together.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_04: Anyway, where where are we?
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_04: We they they literally they meet.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_05: Wait, I have to say, what do you what are your thoughts about Michelle?
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_05: Yao.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_04: Uh doesn't add anything to me.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_04: Really, yeah.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:02:57unknown: Yeah.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_04: She kind of I don't know the character.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_04: I mean, in my in my mind, from what I've seen, like the bits and pieces I've seen of like, you know, the show uh before the movie came out, I feel like Madame Morble's a little bit more kind of like uh whimsical.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_05: I so get why John like pushed for her and like was like, you're doing this no matter what.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_05: I so so get it.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_05: I just I don't know.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_05: I wasn't fully blown away.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he was one of the weaker ones of me.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_05: Because I love Jeff Goldblum and I love everyone else, I think.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_05: I don't think I would recast anyone else, and I don't think I would recast her.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_05: I think ultimately she does she is giving this like grounded, intense, villainous performance.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah that's like nuanced, but I don't know, because like I think I've said this before, some of the like Aussisms didn't need to necessarily come out of her mouth because it was just like it just felt forced in a way that took me out of it.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_05: Because I'm like, no one notices when people are talking normal.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_05: It's just a treat when someone lands like an Ausism like sort of word.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_05: You know, so if she just didn't need to say some of those things that were kooky, you wouldn't question it or be aware of it at all.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_05: Her singing was okay.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_05: I don't hate it, it's fine.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_05: She I actually I can't decide if I really respect that she did zero anything.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_05: Zero pro no, she did not.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_05: Like she did not want the role.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_05: John forced it down a throat.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_05: She was like, I can't sing, and this is it for me.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_05: He's like, When she could sing before it's like the wizard or not, she's like gasping for ear and sort of like delivers a couple lines, and it's fine, it works.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_05: But I'm just like, I want a little bit more.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_05: I like it when she gets like bitchy and evil, it's fun and cool, but it's she doesn't get there enough.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I know part two, part two, you don't know.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_05: She has a big moment, and I'm sure she'll kill it because she does kill it here and there in the first part, but I'm just like, I don't know.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_05: Not sure about her.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_05: I love everyone else, but I'm like, I want I just higher expectations from her because I I love I'm a big Michelle like Yao fan.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_05: I'm like, I think she's a genius, but I'm like, something's not adding up.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_05: And it might be her wig design.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_05: It could have been that, yeah.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_05: It could have been that.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_05: It's like the stage show, okay.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_05: Like Morable always has like a white, powdery kind of wig that's in an up to.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, sure, that's great for stage, but like you cast Michelle, maybe it's just a gray streak.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_05: What if she had jet black hair that was like more severe?
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_05: Like she needed, I hated her hair and makeup.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_05: Interesting.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_05: Her makeup was like bleak.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_05: It was like whatever.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_05: Everyone's afraid to do villain makeup, but imagine if Michelle was like stamped as morable.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_04: Well, to me, I got a little confused about her character to begin with because it was like she's the dean of sorcery studies at the dean university, but no one.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_04: No one has magic powers.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_04: Not one person.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_04: But then she's also just like hanging out with the wizard a lot, and they're plotting to like have have a uh a police state, you know.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_05: Give her a fucking jet black wig.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_05: She wasn't pulling off the white wig at all to me.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_04: Well, it just felt like she even says she's like, I don't teach my course every semester, so it's like, so you're just on sabbatical?
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_04: Like, what are you doing here?
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_05: I hear she does kill moments, but I'm just I want it more.
- 1:06:31SPEAKER_04: Speak speaking of which, because the next thing up is the um the the dorm.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_04: And the interiors are so much more successful than than the the big giant uh arena exteriors.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_04: The the dorm I think is immaculate.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_04: That is a beautifully designed it's amazing.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_05: It's everything about it.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_05: Do you feel like that witch hat motif?
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_05: When she like throws a baseball through the window or something?
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_05: I didn't I didn't notice that.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_05: What?
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_05: In the crack in the cracks and it's like a witch hat.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_04: That's why you're another one.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_05: I think you know at the beginning that's to go back.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_05: So like, what do they call that when they roll out something?
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_05: And it's like a witch effigy when they burn her.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_05: At the beginning, it's like people wheel her out.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_05: I can only assume it's a witch hat.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_05: Because why would they choose to like make that profile?
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_04: It's like, well, why did you choose to make that profile?
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_05: You know.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_05: I was like, my my problem with the broom is like show some fucking restraint.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_05: And then to to be saying that.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_05: You know what?
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_05: I did show some restraint in this.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_05: We showed some restraint.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_05: There is restraint in here.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_05: There are, yeah.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_05: There is.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_04: As as far as we took it, we could have taken it out.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_05: It's supposed to be draggy and methy and crazy, but you know what?
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_05: We we dialed it in where we needed to.
- 1:07:49unknown: Yeah.
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_05: And that broom did not twist in time.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_04: We'll get there.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_04: Because again, also that broom is supposed to be in this fucking the the second bizarre wooden tower at the top of the Emerald City that is housing all of the artifacts of the wizard, I guess.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_04: So it's like that was his broom.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_04: It's like, what the fuck is that doing there?
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_04: That twisted.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_05: It all goes back to unfortunately the author.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_04: Of the book?
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_04: It's his fault.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_04: Everything's his fault.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_04: Loathing.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_04: That's the next number, which is also that's the number that we perform.
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_04: That's that's for us.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_04: What do you mean?
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_04: It's the it's Alphabet and Glinda singing about how much they hate each other but love each other.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_04: That's our number.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_04: We do it on stage.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we do.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_04: We do, we do, we do.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_04: Uh Coreyo is bad again.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_04: I can't believe Cynthia is not.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_05: I like the book stomp.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_05: I like the Matilda book stomp.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_05: Yes, I don't know.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_05: Back, crack, back.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_05: Bowen.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_05: But I I actually think Bowen kills this role and his friend, I don't know that comedian who it is.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_05: I think they're actually amazing.
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_05: I I really do.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_05: Not in a kiss ass way.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_05: I'm like, their performances are so fun and perfect.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_05: Like, though they they kill it.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_05: I think Bowen kills it.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_04: Bowen has a great job.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_04: But but but upon second viewing, um, when we're introduced to Elphaba for the first time in Shiz.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_04: Did you get the Bigfoot feet?
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_04: Yes, that was so funny.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_04: But also why as they walk away, uh Bowen says off camera, I don't even see color.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_05: Oh, it's genius.
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_05: I thought it was so funny.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_04: Love you gotta laugh.
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_04: Uh did a did a great job.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_05: Um did a great job.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_05: I will say, I DM'd him.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_05: I was like, oh my god, so cool.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna geek out and say, like, wow, congrats.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_05: Like that is so fucking cool.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_05: And I really, really, really do think he killed it.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_05: I'm like, iconic.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_04: It really is.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_04: And he's also he he's dancing out a lot in he's in a lot of nuts.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_05: And so did I uh I wish I knew that comedian's me too.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I don't actually know her name.
- 1:09:35SPEAKER_05: But she does kill it.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they're both she's great.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_04: The two of them is great casts, it's great, it's great.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_04: So good.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_04: Um, he has a lot, he has a lot of funny lines, like, especially where he's like, he's like, love your shoulder pads, and he's like, Yeah, and also I love when he's like, What's the reason?
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_05: Like about that, yeah.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_05: But like Sam Taggart was saying this, like, because he's so wicked and obviously dragged it to hell.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_05: Cause like, again, it takes a certain person to like wicked.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_05: You need to be a loser or you need to have seen it on stage.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_05: And I'm both.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_05: You are, yeah.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_05: Uh, but he was like, I don't need to know about like the origin of like how the witch got her hat.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_05: And this movie is packed with origin, and that's why it's like it's actually not that creative.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_05: That's what I was saying.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_05: It's just granular and heady.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_05: No, but it's granular and heady.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_05: It's like some freak weirdo made a series of books about the Wizard of Oz because like he was interested in the subject.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_05: Was like, let me overthink this 9,000 times and get heady and granular.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_04: The the fact that Wicked is an origin story, like, predates all of these origin stories that we've had on film for the last like 15 years at this point, where it's like the idea of like we finally learn how Captain America got his shield.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_04: She got her fucking shield.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_05: But it's like how Captain America got her shield.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_04: She got her shield.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_04: It's like every you know, there's all these movies where it's like, and now we know how this guy got that thing.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_04: But it's like we could was doing that like back in 2002 or whatever, whatever the fuck.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, for you know what I mean.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_05: But I will say on the time.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_05: I will say on stage it's a little more broad strokey and exciting.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's it's taken a long time for this movie to come out.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_04: You know, we're we we we call Nicole Schersinger was attacked.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_04: We've been passed around.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_04: We we've been past the the you know the renaissance of movie musicals, you know, the early 2000s, the Chicago's, the producers, all that stuff.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_04: We're well past that, you know, like musicals tank.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_04: They people don't like them.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_04: Hollywood doesn't like to make them anymore.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_04: So the fact that Wicked was this successful is a testament to like, you know, the entire production.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_05: And that's why I'm like, I do ultimately, I think, as like a fan, they got it right enough for me to say a minus.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_04: Anyway, after loathing, we get into uh we finally meet the goat himself, Dr.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_04: Dillamond.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_04: Uh, we see his classroom again, a smaller set.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_04: It's gorgeous, incredibly detailed, beautiful.
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_04: But I will say, I don't need to hear Peter Dinklage doing a British accent anymore, and I don't need to hear him singing.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_04: I'm sorry.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_04: It's enough.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_04: He doesn't enough.
- 1:12:03SPEAKER_04: He doesn't have a good voice, and he doesn't do a good British accent.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_05: I wish you had little contacts in that had check squared black.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_04: I got the tabby boots.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_04: I could have I could have gone for the contacts, but I literally can't see your drag name is tabby boots.
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_04: Um happening in us.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_04: Um again, his house, super well designed, his little cottage where he lives off campus.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_05: Really quick, before you get too far ahead.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I I um I hated Ariana.
- 1:12:31SPEAKER_05: I like Ariana's performance for the most part.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_05: I hated her you're green because in the first original like couple trailers that came out, I really like was impressed with that delivery.
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_05: And it changed.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_04: They changed a lot of stuff.
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_05: She changed it, and I don't know.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_05: It was giving like she changed it.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_04: She was like, she went into the editing booth and she was like, You gotta get that out of there.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_05: Well, again, celebrities have a lot to say.
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_05: To me, that particular choice felt like for whatever reason she didn't like the original and was like, Can we please or like what's there?
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_05: And there wasn't much there.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_05: Maybe.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_05: I always felt because like the first one was like, You're green.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_05: In like a oh my god, like what's going on?
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_05: And I thought that was really like believable, but then yeah, whatever they switched it to after the first couple trailers, but I I was impressed by the like you're green.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_05: And then now it's kind of like you're green.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_05: Should we take a quickie breaky and come back and fill it?
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_05: Fill our drink, fill our cups, adjust my hairline that is whipping back.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_05: Can't wait to see what this means for me as a boy.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_05: Me too.
- 1:13:37SPEAKER_05: Worth it.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_05: Hashtag worth it.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_05: All right, be right back.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_05: Be right back.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you have to do that every time.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_05: Did you ever think you'd be my nail tech?
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_05: Or anyone's nail tech?
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_05: It's not my strong suit.
- 1:13:57SPEAKER_05: Uh no.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_05: Um neither you or Sarah are amazing at it, but you're good enough that I'll employ you.
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_05: Well, for free.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_04: Well, you don't uh yeah, for free.
- 1:14:07SPEAKER_04: Uh not employed, I'm forced into servitude.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_04: Um, there was this one time where it made sense where it was like the way you always are trying to push your finger up into it, where it's like, oh, you want pressure here, but I for have forgotten how that actually works and I can't do it anymore.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we're all we're getting we're rusty, we're getting back into it.
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:25SPEAKER_05: You're lucky we're here.
- 1:14:26SPEAKER_05: You are, yeah.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_05: We're lucky you're here.
- 1:14:29SPEAKER_05: Because if you're here, you're being paying.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_04: If you're here, you're family.
- 1:14:32SPEAKER_05: Um if you're here, your family, and you're paying us.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_04: Something bad at Dr.
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_04: Dilleman's house, uh, well designed, textured, layered.
- 1:14:41SPEAKER_04: We love that.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_04: That look and feel is perf um perf.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_04: And then after she leaves Dilleman's house, we're introduced to Fiero.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_04: That's it?
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_05: That's how far in we are?
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_05: Is that far or not far?
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_05: Not far.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_05: Not far at all.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_05: I wrote down Fiero's mug.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_05: We already talked about the cinnamon, the cinnamon bronzer all over, the tight lace front.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_05: Looked old.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_05: He looked pudgy and old, and that's not who he is.
- 1:15:05SPEAKER_05: And then I wrote down Tigela.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_05: His last name is Tigela, which is like so cringe, and again, it goes back to the author being a pervert serial killer.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_05: And he was like Tiggala Biddies.
- 1:15:16SPEAKER_05: Tiggala.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_05: Tiggala is not real.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_05: Fero Tiggala.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_05: Like the name.
- 1:15:21SPEAKER_05: Alphaba Throp?
- 1:15:23SPEAKER_05: Well, Alphaba comes from the author.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_05: He's like L E L Balm.
- 1:15:30SPEAKER_05: Whatever.
- 1:15:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_04: Baum.
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_04: Is the author of Oz, yeah.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_05: And then he's like Throp.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_05: He goes.
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_05: He says Throp is the sound a house makes when it falls on your sister.
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_05: Shut the f shut.
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_05: Fuck.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_05: Probably not.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_04: No, he is.
- 1:15:47SPEAKER_04: Oh, good.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_04: But he's but he writes a lot about like rape and like animal rape.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_04: He writes a lot about animal rape.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_05: I'm not kidding.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_05: But it's like, shut up.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_05: I hate when things are too like.
- 1:15:58SPEAKER_05: It's like you're not interesting or cool.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_05: You're just.
- 1:16:01SPEAKER_04: You think you're clever.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_05: Oh, you think you're clever.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_05: Alpha the Throp.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_05: And again, the stage, to my knowledge, and again, I saw it recently as as recent as this year with my niece.
- 1:16:12SPEAKER_05: To my knowledge, they don't include Throp.
- 1:16:15SPEAKER_05: They glaze over that really quick.
- 1:16:19SPEAKER_05: If someone's like, Elpha Throp, you know, they don't want to deal with that because it's not cool.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_05: And the movie, like Dulcie Bear, they push it in your throat.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_05: Like Throppity Throp Throp, House Anya, sister, Throp.
- 1:16:32SPEAKER_04: For all I know, because I've only ever seen the movie, the animal theming stuff feels like a huge part of the story.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_04: Who knows?
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_05: But you know what?
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_05: Again, Cynthia Revo grounds this thing in such a weird way that's insane.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_05: And like she makes the movie, can't see anyone else in the role.
- 1:16:51SPEAKER_05: But there are times where she's so real as an actress, an actor, like, and it's so grounded, she's like, Dr.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_05: Gillman, if animals are losing the ability to speak, like it's insane.
- 1:17:03SPEAKER_05: It's like, wait, what are we talking about?
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_05: Right, but then because it's so real.
- 1:17:08SPEAKER_05: Her delivery is right.
- 1:17:09SPEAKER_05: But that's real.
- 1:17:10SPEAKER_05: But then Cynthia said it's too grounded.
- 1:17:11SPEAKER_05: It's too real.
- 1:17:12SPEAKER_05: It's too real.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_05: Because to hear an actress say that in such a real way.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_05: It's like, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 1:17:18SPEAKER_05: That's like what universe are we gonna that's her job?
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_04: On set, they're like, they're like, can we cut?
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_04: They're like, they're like, um, I don't know if that's gonna work.
- 1:17:28SPEAKER_04: I think she's just a little too real.
- 1:17:29SPEAKER_05: It's a little too real.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_05: But Dr.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_05: Dillman, if the animals are losing their ability to speak, and he's like, sorry.
- 1:17:44SPEAKER_05: He's like, don't mind the pellets, sister.
- 1:17:49SPEAKER_05: He's like, yeah, it is what it is, ain't it?
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_04: I feel like you poop pellets.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_06: I do.
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_05: There's so many times I want to like send my poop to my friends and family.
- 1:18:00SPEAKER_05: And I don't.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_04: That's growth.
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_04: That's growth.
- 1:18:04SPEAKER_04: I don't.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_04: So introducing Fiero, my notes are old exclamation exclamation point.
- 1:18:09SPEAKER_05: Guess where he got the name Tigala?
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_04: From my Tigela Biddies.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_05: Tiggala Biddies, but what is Tigga?
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_05: Tiger.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_05: Diane.
- 1:18:16SPEAKER_05: Oh, he's a scarecrow.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_05: He's a scarecrow.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_05: I'm r I'm supporting my man by wearing a little hey.
- 1:18:23SPEAKER_02: Hey.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_02: Hey.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_04: Spoiler alert, get over it.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_04: Alright, so they introduce Fiero and then we get into dancing through life slash deserve each other.
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_04: Is that a different song?
- 1:18:33SPEAKER_04: No, it's like a 45-minute number.
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_04: Truly, it is a 20-minute section of this video.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_04: I love it.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_04: It is the longest unbroken kind of musical motif number of the video.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_04: It's insane.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_04: It goes on and on.
- 1:18:47SPEAKER_04: I love it.
- 1:18:47SPEAKER_04: On and on.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_04: I love it, but then on and on and on.
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_05: To me, that's a good book, like musical, in that like it's per at least progressing the plot, but not superfluous.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_04: We've seen the show 9,000 times.
- 1:19:00SPEAKER_04: It cannot possibly be that way on stage.
- 1:19:02SPEAKER_04: It's um it's it sounds like it's a it's a traveling number where they're like, hey, I'm a Fiero, nice to meet you.
- 1:19:06SPEAKER_04: Now we're going to Gosdress, meet me over here.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_05: It's a little quicker.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_04: It's nine years in the movie.
- 1:19:11SPEAKER_04: I mean, we've already ground to a halt multiple times before this point, but this is when we go backwards.
- 1:19:16SPEAKER_04: This is like we're going back in time.
- 1:19:18SPEAKER_04: Like the movie is gaining time.
- 1:19:20SPEAKER_04: Like it goes from being a two and a half hour movie to a four-hour movie, like at this point.
- 1:19:24SPEAKER_04: It's it's it's insane.
- 1:19:25SPEAKER_04: Is it two and a half?
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_04: Or I thought it was three.
- 1:19:28SPEAKER_04: It's it might be over two and a half.
- 1:19:30SPEAKER_04: 230 too much.
- 1:19:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:19:32SPEAKER_04: It's it's too long.
- 1:19:33SPEAKER_04: It's the whole thing, it's bloated, it's long, it's plotting, it's slow.
- 1:19:36SPEAKER_04: This whole section makes it just it's like there's no way to cut this down.
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_04: Like we can't get through this faster than what we have on on screen.
- 1:19:45SPEAKER_04: I just don't understand.
- 1:19:46SPEAKER_04: I do love the circular bookshelves.
- 1:19:48SPEAKER_04: That set is incredible.
- 1:19:51SPEAKER_04: Beautiful.
- 1:19:51SPEAKER_04: It's it's a beautiful, I love like the um like the Arabesque architecture, like the way like they're they're rendering the space.
- 1:19:58SPEAKER_04: It's it's um, it's amazing, but it's shot terribly.
- 1:20:02SPEAKER_04: The way they shoot that number, once they start like moving around through the bookshelves and dancing and stuff.
- 1:20:07SPEAKER_04: I I I I get that it's like you've built this thing.
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_04: I see people moving.
- 1:20:11SPEAKER_04: It doesn't seem like CGI, but the way you're cutting it, the way you're not.
- 1:20:13SPEAKER_04: It's not CGI.
- 1:20:14SPEAKER_04: I I know that's where the parkour comes in.
- 1:20:16SPEAKER_04: I know, but what I'm saying is the way that it's edited together, the way the way that the camera captures the action and the dancing, it doesn't feel real.
- 1:20:26SPEAKER_04: Maybe it was actually harder harder to shoot than it than it felt, so they had to chop it up, but I just don't understand why it was so shredded.
- 1:20:35SPEAKER_04: Because like to me, that felt like all you have to do is literally press play on the camera and the sets are built.
- 1:20:41SPEAKER_04: The magic is built for you.
- 1:20:43SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_04: Incredible set, incredible set, but it was horribly.
- 1:20:47SPEAKER_04: I hated the way that looked.
- 1:20:49SPEAKER_04: It was like it ruined it for me.
- 1:20:50SPEAKER_05: It was crazy.
- 1:20:51SPEAKER_05: To me, I was okay with the cinematography enough.
- 1:20:55SPEAKER_05: It's just the lighting, the backlit, overexposed.
- 1:20:59SPEAKER_05: It was washi outy.
- 1:21:00SPEAKER_05: I know some people were complaining about that, and I saw it, and I saw the London sky.
- 1:21:05SPEAKER_05: And I get why it should be silhouetted, but like make it more silhouetted or something.
- 1:21:10SPEAKER_05: Something, yeah.
- 1:21:11SPEAKER_05: It just felt like okay, something's got wrong.
- 1:21:15SPEAKER_05: But yeah, it wasn't as beautiful as it could have been or should have been for sure.
- 1:21:20SPEAKER_05: I know that much, like truly.
- 1:21:22SPEAKER_05: It wasn't just it just wasn't captured correctly.
- 1:21:24SPEAKER_04: I think it boiled to me, it boils down to it was it was shot wrong in that moment.
- 1:21:28SPEAKER_04: And like again, that could be the lighting could be a part of that.
- 1:21:30SPEAKER_05: But just well, you're not alone.
- 1:21:32SPEAKER_05: A lot of people were blowing up about that scene in particular because it just people were just saying it was just over casty, overwashy.
- 1:21:40SPEAKER_05: Too many cuts.
- 1:21:41SPEAKER_05: It felt overexposed.
- 1:21:42SPEAKER_05: People weren't talking about the cinematography as much as you are right now.
- 1:21:46SPEAKER_05: People were saying it was overexposed.
- 1:21:47SPEAKER_04: That was that was a missed opportunity for me.
- 1:21:50SPEAKER_04: And then there's another 15 fucking minutes before they finally get to the Oz Dust.
- 1:21:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah, which I wrote down I cannot deal with Madame Morable's nighttime wig, her floppy ass crimp bang.
- 1:22:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:22:01SPEAKER_05: Was that her like because she was like caught off guard and it was like bedtime when Alphabet's like, hello, I needed to ask you a favor.
- 1:22:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:22:08SPEAKER_05: She's like, What the fuck?
- 1:22:09SPEAKER_05: She's like, no, no, ma'am.
- 1:22:11SPEAKER_05: I said, no, ma'am.
- 1:22:13SPEAKER_05: No, ma'am.
- 1:22:14SPEAKER_05: That was brutal.
- 1:22:16SPEAKER_05: That was no.
- 1:22:17SPEAKER_05: A lot of the wigs wore her.
- 1:22:19SPEAKER_05: And it's like Michelle, yeah, was a genius and like subtle and like an artist like Cynthia, like needed to speak up a little bit more creatively about like what she felt comfortable in because the shit was wearing her, especially the nighttime like flop wig.
- 1:22:35SPEAKER_05: It was cunt as fuck when she decides to go to like the Osda to Osdust to give Ariana like that.
- 1:22:41SPEAKER_05: She whipped up an amazing braid and like yeah, she just swirls up the front and like a second.
- 1:22:49SPEAKER_01: Just a second.
- 1:22:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, literally.
- 1:22:52SPEAKER_04: But then she's like, and by the way, I think Alphabet just arrived.
- 1:22:56SPEAKER_04: And it was like, yeah, wouldn't you have gone together?
- 1:22:59SPEAKER_04: Like, if you she went to your house.
- 1:23:00SPEAKER_05: What are your thoughts on that?
- 1:23:02SPEAKER_05: It's like, is she just is that her power being like, my titty's up, my right nipple is erect, she's here.
- 1:23:09SPEAKER_04: Like I it made it didn't make sense because it was like just I caught that too last day.
- 1:23:14SPEAKER_04: Like, wouldn't they been she's like, you might want to thank her.
- 1:23:17SPEAKER_05: I think she just arrived.
- 1:23:19SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 1:23:20SPEAKER_05: It was very like, I think it was about her power.
- 1:23:23SPEAKER_04: To me, it felt like that's how we deal with ch traveling through time and space in a musical where it doesn't really matter because like you're literally going from like stage right to stage left.
- 1:23:30SPEAKER_04: And it was like, by the way, girl, she's just here.
- 1:23:31SPEAKER_04: And then it's like the spotlight goes on over there, and we're yeah, it doesn't matter, but it's like in a movie, it was like I literally was just talking to her.
- 1:23:37SPEAKER_04: I took my own fucking uh boat, and then she just I think chers is right behind me because I don't travel.
- 1:23:42SPEAKER_05: Well, honey, that wig, that was the only right wig the whole movie.
- 1:23:45SPEAKER_05: She fucking whipped it up.
- 1:23:46SPEAKER_05: She's like, you know what?
- 1:23:48SPEAKER_04: She's like, fuck you.
- 1:23:49SPEAKER_05: She's like, give me five minutes.
- 1:23:50SPEAKER_05: All I need is five minutes.
- 1:23:51SPEAKER_04: That's why she got there after her.
- 1:23:54SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 1:23:54SPEAKER_04: It doesn't make any sense.
- 1:23:55SPEAKER_04: It's fine.
- 1:23:56SPEAKER_05: It was but the Osdos, I like 90% of the sets, but that one is boo-boo.
- 1:24:01SPEAKER_05: I'll get it.
- 1:24:01SPEAKER_04: That was boo-boo.
- 1:24:02SPEAKER_05: I I all I saw was floorboards.
- 1:24:04SPEAKER_05: To me, I'm like, I get it.
- 1:24:05SPEAKER_05: The water motif, it's a little heavy-handed.
- 1:24:08SPEAKER_05: The we're under a reef.
- 1:24:09SPEAKER_05: This is where a lot of water buckets.
- 1:24:11SPEAKER_04: This is to me, this is where the movie goes off the rails in a way that I think uh is Cray Cray.
- 1:24:15SPEAKER_04: Cray Cray, we need to get into it because this is I realized upon like really trying to wrap my head around like what the fuck was happening in the scene.
- 1:24:23SPEAKER_04: I was like, oh, this is the moment where Alphaba, who has never had a friend, has someone who is kind to her.
- 1:24:31SPEAKER_04: And this is the moment where Glinda, who has never actually been nice or kind, despite saying she's like a very good person, does something that's actually charitable to someone she cares about.
- 1:24:43SPEAKER_04: So like I get it.
- 1:24:44SPEAKER_04: It's it's it's this beautiful crossing where the characters meet in the middle and they change and they become friends.
- 1:24:51SPEAKER_04: This is the the the turning point of the of the movie.
- 1:24:54SPEAKER_04: In in many ways, it's the climax of the movie.
- 1:24:56SPEAKER_04: This is where like the the biggest emotional change occurs.
- 1:25:01SPEAKER_04: But there's something about the way we got there and what happens once we are there that to me made literally, I felt like it makes it schizophrenic.
- 1:25:11SPEAKER_04: It makes no sense.
- 1:25:12SPEAKER_04: It's literally like like mentally ill.
- 1:25:14SPEAKER_04: It's schizophrenic.
- 1:25:15SPEAKER_04: It's like the way the way that the way that Alphaba acts, I get see I I couldn't suspend my disbelief.
- 1:25:25SPEAKER_04: I couldn't, because it was like this feels like a different movie.
- 1:25:28SPEAKER_04: I didn't I didn't feel like we had earned this level of emotionality from the movie that had taken us to this to this point.
- 1:25:35SPEAKER_04: I just felt like this was where I felt like Ariana and Cynthia had created their entire own, they concocted their own story about what this was for these two characters.
- 1:25:45SPEAKER_04: And this is where the press tour started.
- 1:25:49SPEAKER_04: I really think I really think this is where the press tour started.
- 1:25:54SPEAKER_04: Get a shot of that.
- 1:25:55SPEAKER_04: What was happening between these two characters was something deeper and richer and beyond what the movie had actually covered until that point.
- 1:26:01SPEAKER_04: Stop.
- 1:26:02SPEAKER_04: Stop.
- 1:26:03SPEAKER_04: It didn't feel real, it didn't feel earned, it felt confused, it felt confused.
- 1:26:07SPEAKER_05: It felt I thought it was beautiful and real, very real and emotional and crazy and like heart-wrenching.
- 1:26:14SPEAKER_05: And I I think a lot of people But my point is why.
- 1:26:18SPEAKER_05: Like my question is why.
- 1:26:19SPEAKER_05: She's been ostracized her whole life and she's been made fun of.
- 1:26:23SPEAKER_04: I know, but they could have seeded those moments more specifically and poetically to get to this point where we realize that she's actually she does care what people think.
- 1:26:32SPEAKER_04: She does want our friendship, she does want people to like her.
- 1:26:35SPEAKER_04: She's she's a fucking badass, cold-hearted bitch.
- 1:26:38SPEAKER_04: The entire not a bitch, like she's just strong.
- 1:26:41SPEAKER_04: She's strong, she's she's actually like really fucking cool.
- 1:26:45SPEAKER_05: Well, she is fucking cool.
- 1:26:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:26:46SPEAKER_05: And it's like cool to see her in this role, and it's cool, like the choices they made.
- 1:26:51SPEAKER_05: So from jump, you're sort of like this person would never be a loser because like she's fucking badass.
- 1:26:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:26:57SPEAKER_05: And people have said, like, when she enters, it's like that look eats mama, like no crumbs left.
- 1:27:04SPEAKER_05: Like, no one would ever drag her.
- 1:27:06SPEAKER_05: But I tried to like look at it with fresh eyes last night, and I was like, oh, okay.
- 1:27:10SPEAKER_05: It's a little corny.
- 1:27:12SPEAKER_05: I see in a high school or college setting, like if you show up with that stupid hat, and like in in Oz, black isn't except like no one wears black.
- 1:27:21SPEAKER_05: It's very colorful in theory.
- 1:27:23SPEAKER_05: Or I just was making those things up in my head.
- 1:27:26SPEAKER_05: I'm like, okay.
- 1:27:27SPEAKER_04: I brought that in my notes where I was like, why does she wear black the entire time?
- 1:27:30SPEAKER_05: Well, because she's like embarrassed and like covered up.
- 1:27:32SPEAKER_04: But she could be wearing navy, she could be wearing burgundy.
- 1:27:36SPEAKER_04: She could be wearing navy.
- 1:27:37SPEAKER_04: She could be wearing it.
- 1:27:37SPEAKER_05: But she's just like moody and like she's covering her skin.
- 1:27:41SPEAKER_05: I get that.
- 1:27:42SPEAKER_05: And she's like not the most you know, she's jaded.
- 1:27:45SPEAKER_05: She's jaded.
- 1:27:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:27:46SPEAKER_05: She's been affected her all.
- 1:27:47SPEAKER_04: She's got it's got she was wearing black as a kid.
- 1:27:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:27:50SPEAKER_04: And had nails as a kid, too.
- 1:27:52SPEAKER_05: It's like her parents hate her.
- 1:27:54SPEAKER_05: She's just like, I want to cover up and be, I don't wanna be seen.
- 1:27:57SPEAKER_05: Black drops away.
- 1:27:58unknown: Except.
- 1:28:00SPEAKER_04: Except it stands out bec for the points you just raised that Oz is colorful.
- 1:28:03SPEAKER_04: So it's like what are we dealing with here?
- 1:28:05SPEAKER_04: What are we dealing with?
- 1:28:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:28:07SPEAKER_04: I thought that the the I feel like in the State show she like had a little like like a weird kind of beret and like a navy thing and like a technically very navy, very blazery, very like knit navy cap.
- 1:28:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah, she's fardy.
- 1:28:19SPEAKER_05: She's very farty, she's more illusory and like I think this one's more about like race and like blackness and like that sort of thing, which is cool and like relevant and like makes sense, like speaks to the story and the politics of it all compared to the stage show to this, because in the stage show she's just sort of like has 29 left feet, and it's like that's why in that moment it's usually portrayed comedically for a second at least.
- 1:28:45SPEAKER_04: It gets emotional, but like she's like sort of like a deer in headlights and like realizes she's a loser, and then she's like but it's very like 90s uh 20 makeover movie.
- 1:29:01SPEAKER_04: Like there's a little bit of that element in Wicked, but that that this movie misses somewhat because Alphabet is just so like concrete at the beginning.
- 1:29:09SPEAKER_04: Like there's not a lot of vulnerability, yeah.
- 1:29:12SPEAKER_05: Down to her sound effect is footsteps.
- 1:29:16SPEAKER_05: I'm like, what is that?
- 1:29:17SPEAKER_04: That wasn't a like she it's like and they're like we just divert it into a different movie when we got to this point where their tears and their emotions and like their their feeling and connection to one another just felt like I I get it, I get like a version of the story.
- 1:29:40SPEAKER_04: I like that.
- 1:29:41SPEAKER_04: I get it, I respect it, but I just I just felt like it was a it's just a different um movie.
- 1:29:46SPEAKER_04: Movie.
- 1:29:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:29:47SPEAKER_05: I accepted it, I bought it up, I ate it up, I thought I didn't cry because I'm a robot.
- 1:29:52SPEAKER_05: I didn't cry.
- 1:29:52SPEAKER_05: No, I know I didn't think a lot of people did, and I respect like like Cynthia kills, and those are real tears, and it's like she's drawing from life, and like that's a real moment.
- 1:30:03SPEAKER_05: And I see all that stuff, and that's to me in the story, and really cool.
- 1:30:07SPEAKER_05: It just needed a little bit of lightness at the top of the scene.
- 1:30:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but then they become lesbians.
- 1:30:12SPEAKER_04: Um they fall in love, they're lesbians together, yeah.
- 1:30:16SPEAKER_05: I wish they would date, it would be so cute.
- 1:30:18SPEAKER_05: I think they are no, they're not.
- 1:30:23SPEAKER_05: Cynthia's wifed up.
- 1:30:25SPEAKER_05: We go from there into popular, but you have to at least snap your fingers to Cynthia's like potions in that scene.
- 1:30:32SPEAKER_04: Truly, she's she's an amazing actor, and they have amazing.
- 1:30:35SPEAKER_04: And they have they have a really beautiful, sweet yeah, chemistry.
- 1:30:38SPEAKER_04: Like, I wrote that when we get into popular, like they have chemistry and they they are funny.
- 1:30:41SPEAKER_04: They they they really play off each other really, really well.
- 1:30:43SPEAKER_05: They do, and their voices are actually insane and how they harmonize is insane.
- 1:30:47SPEAKER_05: The only actually, like, I'm hard on Ariana because I know it's like I just like see her trying to be an actress, trying to be funny, and I think she kills it.
- 1:30:55SPEAKER_05: It's like almost an A plus.
- 1:30:56SPEAKER_05: The only times that I'm like, oh no, it's the you're green, and they're like, Oh, when they're like, You can room with Alphabet, or like how she fake falls.
- 1:31:07SPEAKER_05: That's genius.
- 1:31:08SPEAKER_05: Like, I love the fall and the timing of like how she fake volunteers to be like, hi, yeah.
- 1:31:14SPEAKER_05: That's all really organic and great, the misunderstanding of it all, but then her like comedic choice of being like her ho-ho-ho-ho-ho ho.
- 1:31:25SPEAKER_05: You know, I'm just like, everything else is a slammy, slammy, slammy dunk.
- 1:31:29SPEAKER_04: In popular, I do feel like speaking to your point about Ariana.
- 1:31:33SPEAKER_04: I feel like some of her comedic choices here she's crapping too much, but ultimately I accept it.
- 1:31:39SPEAKER_05: And I think for popular, that's what people want and expected.
- 1:31:42SPEAKER_05: And I think she like checked the box and it was fun and cute.
- 1:31:46SPEAKER_05: Enough bog out.
- 1:31:48SPEAKER_00: Bog out.
- 1:31:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:31:50SPEAKER_05: Bog out.
- 1:31:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I think I think it's like production did her a disservice by letting her go a little wild.
- 1:31:57SPEAKER_05: Because there are scenes I was like obviously baked as hell watching it last night.
- 1:32:02SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:32:02SPEAKER_05: Um, and I'm like, I think she's improving too much.
- 1:32:06SPEAKER_05: Because she's just trying to fill space up with like a reaction or like a performance.
- 1:32:11SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, I get that feeling that you need to do that.
- 1:32:16SPEAKER_04: Well, I this is like she does this thing where it's like when she's talking with Alpha Bow, she's like, you have to flip your hair.
- 1:32:22SPEAKER_04: And she does this like really comedic, kind of insane over-the-top hair flip.
- 1:32:28SPEAKER_04: And it's like, are we supposed to think that people think Glinda looks good when she does that?
- 1:32:33SPEAKER_04: Because people do.
- 1:32:35SPEAKER_05: I'm not gonna lie, I feel shitty saying this because I do ultimately on record to camera, I think Ariana Slay is Slay Tina and like is really does a great job, but I don't love the toss toss.
- 1:32:49SPEAKER_05: The toss toss it's not funny to me.
- 1:32:51SPEAKER_05: It's too much.
- 1:32:52SPEAKER_05: It breaks the character, I think.
- 1:32:54SPEAKER_05: Because she's she's doing it uh too goofily.
- 1:32:57SPEAKER_05: Her interpretation of it I both respect and also like hey.
- 1:33:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and I can't explain why.
- 1:33:04SPEAKER_05: I can't just like a little too much.
- 1:33:06SPEAKER_05: The toss toss is insane in this movie.
- 1:33:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:33:09SPEAKER_05: Because on stage it's just like a that's that's what I mean.
- 1:33:11SPEAKER_05: It's like it's like it's like Uggo and Cray.
- 1:33:13SPEAKER_05: Like Ugo and Cray, and that's not her.
- 1:33:17SPEAKER_05: I I actually think actually now in talking at I'm I'm sketching it out live.
- 1:33:21SPEAKER_05: I'm hearing it.
- 1:33:22SPEAKER_05: I'm like, actually, it's not her.
- 1:33:24SPEAKER_05: It's it's production, it's direction.
- 1:33:26SPEAKER_05: She's big she's swinging big, and it's and they're not the director's job to like hone her in.
- 1:33:32SPEAKER_05: Have you caught wind of the deleted scenes?
- 1:33:36SPEAKER_05: What's the deleted scene?
- 1:33:37SPEAKER_05: There's many, many, many, many, many.
- 1:33:39SPEAKER_05: And they suck, they fucking suck Donkey Dick in a bad way.
- 1:33:44SPEAKER_05: In a bad way.
- 1:33:45SPEAKER_05: The editor deserves an Oscar.
- 1:33:48SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 1:33:48SPEAKER_05: Because like they were really clunky and superfluous, and like I didn't see one.
- 1:33:53SPEAKER_05: Maybe, maybe out of the 14 that they launched out, maybe one could have stayed.
- 1:33:59SPEAKER_05: But again, I get it.
- 1:34:00SPEAKER_05: But I'm just more speaking to which you're not a part of Twitter, X, threads, people crying and losing their mind, being like, this needed to be in it.
- 1:34:10SPEAKER_05: I can't.
- 1:34:11SPEAKER_05: This needed to be in it.
- 1:34:12SPEAKER_05: They're all like, we really could have used this.
- 1:34:15SPEAKER_05: And it's like, no, were you saying this a week ago?
- 1:34:19SPEAKER_05: No, girl.
- 1:34:20SPEAKER_05: You had no clue and you accepted and and fucking blew 20 loads and bowed down and and ate it all up and ate your loads to this movie.
- 1:34:29SPEAKER_05: You don't need the deleted scenes, right?
- 1:34:31SPEAKER_05: Sweetie, no, the editor gets an Oscar and an Emmy.
- 1:34:35SPEAKER_05: Is it in an Oscar or is it just cutting out the parts that are bad?
- 1:34:38SPEAKER_05: Whatever.
- 1:34:39SPEAKER_05: He should be awarded because they did, they were not necessary.
- 1:34:44SPEAKER_04: We got we gotta go ahead.
- 1:34:45SPEAKER_04: Not that girl.
- 1:34:46SPEAKER_04: Um no one cares.
- 1:34:47SPEAKER_04: I didn't nobody cares.
- 1:34:48SPEAKER_04: Um that's why I wrote don't care.
- 1:34:51SPEAKER_04: Now we get to the train.
- 1:34:52SPEAKER_04: Uh she's heading to Oscar.
- 1:34:54SPEAKER_04: Oh, the train I screened.
- 1:34:55SPEAKER_04: The train is real.
- 1:34:56SPEAKER_04: Again, I said cool train.
- 1:34:58SPEAKER_05: Uh, nothing has looked faker and more CGI.
- 1:35:00SPEAKER_05: The train is real.
- 1:35:01SPEAKER_05: That's insane is real.
- 1:35:03SPEAKER_05: That's insane.
- 1:35:03SPEAKER_05: And then when it pulls up, it's like, this is I've never seen anything faker.
- 1:35:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:35:08SPEAKER_05: That's real.
- 1:35:09SPEAKER_04: Insane.
- 1:35:09SPEAKER_04: Crazy.
- 1:35:10SPEAKER_04: Uh, anyway, we get to um one short day.
- 1:35:13SPEAKER_04: We we're in the Emerald City.
- 1:35:15SPEAKER_04: This is where the Choreo.
- 1:35:17SPEAKER_04: It's rude.
- 1:35:18SPEAKER_04: This is rude.
- 1:35:19SPEAKER_04: This is a rude.
- 1:35:20SPEAKER_05: It was rude she wasn't in yellow.
- 1:35:22SPEAKER_05: I I get it.
- 1:35:22SPEAKER_05: It's like the what do you mean?
- 1:35:24SPEAKER_05: Glinda in the stage show.
- 1:35:26SPEAKER_05: Again, her costume, she's blue, she's pink, she's white.
- 1:35:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:35:31SPEAKER_05: It's like an iconic, she's in a yellow dress.
- 1:35:33SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:35:34SPEAKER_05: And a lot of people lost their mind over, again, the whole only pink story.
- 1:35:39SPEAKER_05: Because it was just like, come on, that is it's Glinda's change.
- 1:35:42SPEAKER_05: It would have so fun.
- 1:35:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:35:43SPEAKER_04: Would have been so fun.
- 1:35:44SPEAKER_04: But I like that it went into like the beauty spa.
- 1:35:46SPEAKER_04: It's very Wizard of Oz when they all get the makeovers.
- 1:35:49SPEAKER_04: You know, um, I forget about that.
- 1:35:51SPEAKER_04: And then it's like, and it's a nail salon, they're getting their nails done.
- 1:35:53SPEAKER_04: I like that moment.
- 1:35:54SPEAKER_04: It's cute.
- 1:35:54SPEAKER_04: But like the choreo, and again, like the obligatory, like gay guy shot where it's like, uh uh, uh, uh uh uh everyone's like a lot of braids literally being like, ooh, ouchie, ouchie, kabouchie.
- 1:36:07SPEAKER_05: It makes me so happy though, that like a lot of people say, actually, I hate the choreo.
- 1:36:11SPEAKER_04: And then it like cuts right from there to like guys in giant inflated like rubber underpants.
- 1:36:17SPEAKER_05: That feels odd.
- 1:36:18SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 1:36:19SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 1:36:19SPEAKER_03: Guys on silts, green beards, the the I was getting nervous.
- 1:36:24SPEAKER_04: I was getting it's like, I don't know.
- 1:36:28SPEAKER_04: What do you think about the the cameo?
- 1:36:30SPEAKER_05: I think the cameo is Kant.
- 1:36:32SPEAKER_05: But that let there be a cameo.
- 1:36:33SPEAKER_05: I think it would have been cheese.
- 1:36:34SPEAKER_04: That can't be in the stage show, is it?
- 1:36:36SPEAKER_04: The whole moment of like explaining the gribble.
- 1:36:38SPEAKER_05: A little bit, a little bit.
- 1:36:39SPEAKER_04: But they kind of like read well, she also she does like the battle cry.
- 1:36:42SPEAKER_04: Like that can't be in the show.
- 1:36:44SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:36:44SPEAKER_05: The battle cry definitely ain't in the show.
- 1:36:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but they do sort of like breeze through the like throughoutful exploitative fake narrative that's been pushed on everyone.
- 1:36:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah, they'll like, oh my god.
- 1:37:00SPEAKER_05: Omaha.
- 1:37:00SPEAKER_05: Omaha?
- 1:37:01SPEAKER_05: What is he is that?
- 1:37:02SPEAKER_05: What did he say?
- 1:37:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:37:04SPEAKER_05: Why?
- 1:37:04SPEAKER_05: Because I think that's where he's from.
- 1:37:06SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 1:37:06SPEAKER_05: I couldn't tell.
- 1:37:07SPEAKER_05: I I never knew what that was.
- 1:37:09SPEAKER_05: I thought he was saying how to say, like, oh my god, and like a Kool-Aid.
- 1:37:13SPEAKER_05: In like a Kool-Aid way.
- 1:37:14SPEAKER_05: I thought that was like the joke.
- 1:37:15SPEAKER_05: It was like, oh yeah.
- 1:37:17SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 1:37:18SPEAKER_05: Omaha.
- 1:37:21SPEAKER_04: You say you don't like the way the grimmery looks.
- 1:37:25SPEAKER_05: Maybe I was fine with the grimery like flopping open like how it did.
- 1:37:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:37:29SPEAKER_05: But then the like like feathers when she's doing the like levitation, like on whatever cheserie.
- 1:37:39SPEAKER_05: Chesery?
- 1:37:40SPEAKER_04: I wrote down chessery.
- 1:37:41SPEAKER_04: She keeps talking about chissory.
- 1:37:42SPEAKER_04: It's like Chissory! We just met this monkey.
- 1:37:45SPEAKER_05: Chissory, please.
- 1:37:46SPEAKER_04: She's like, chissery, are you okay?
- 1:37:48SPEAKER_04: Chissory?
- 1:37:48SPEAKER_04: Chissory.
- 1:37:49SPEAKER_04: Chissory! She's like, what's wrong, chissery?
- 1:37:51SPEAKER_04: Chissory, you don't usually act like this.
- 1:37:52SPEAKER_04: It's like you just chissory! She's like, you just met um saying chisery?
- 1:37:57SPEAKER_05: Stop saying chissery.
- 1:38:00SPEAKER_05: But I so maybe I was okay with the book being like Yeah.
- 1:38:06SPEAKER_05: But I didn't like the like What do you mean, like the magic in it?
- 1:38:10SPEAKER_05: When she was like saying the spell was like Oh, the things were like the words were getting a little feathery for Chisory.
- 1:38:17SPEAKER_05: Chesaree.
- 1:38:18SPEAKER_05: My Uncle Jack had a friend named Chesaree, and he was a fraud.
- 1:38:24SPEAKER_05: Do it, do what you want with that.
- 1:38:27SPEAKER_05: Pull your mom ass down, honey.
- 1:38:29SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna suck that goat dick to end of the movie.
- 1:38:34SPEAKER_05: Uh we uh Elba Elva learns that Cesare is like a big thing.
- 1:38:38SPEAKER_05: My Uncle Jack's fraud friend, Chesaree, is has wings.
- 1:38:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:38:43SPEAKER_04: Um she runs away with the grimmery.
- 1:38:45SPEAKER_05: Do you live when she's like, my desire's for you to help the animals?
- 1:38:48SPEAKER_05: Like the way she just I'm just so impressed.
- 1:38:51SPEAKER_02: It's like it's amazing to me.
- 1:38:53SPEAKER_04: Personally, maybe I'm like a loser.
- 1:38:55SPEAKER_04: No, no, no.
- 1:38:55SPEAKER_04: I no, it's it's the stupidest dialogue on earth, and she's able to like literally commit in a way that is like it's Dagging.
- 1:39:01SPEAKER_04: It's really it's beautiful.
- 1:39:02SPEAKER_04: It's amazing, yeah.
- 1:39:03SPEAKER_05: It's so like subdued and beautiful.
- 1:39:07SPEAKER_04: She grabs the book, she runs away.
- 1:39:08SPEAKER_04: I was to me guards.
- 1:39:15SPEAKER_04: Guards.
- 1:39:16SPEAKER_04: Chazray's like eventually the girls climb up into a t a wooden tower at the top of the wizard's palace.
- 1:39:30SPEAKER_04: Which I thought the balloon scene was horny.
- 1:39:32SPEAKER_04: I thought that that scene was horny as well.
- 1:39:34SPEAKER_04: But then there's a big action sequence, the balloon pops, they they they jump down, and then they're just in another tower.
- 1:39:40SPEAKER_04: That that to me, where I was like, I was like, guys, guys, where are we?
- 1:39:45SPEAKER_04: Where are we?
- 1:39:46SPEAKER_05: Where are we?
- 1:39:46SPEAKER_05: And I thought the balloon the balloon scene is not in the show.
- 1:39:49SPEAKER_04: But you know, hold on.
- 1:39:50SPEAKER_04: All you had to do was have an establishing shot of the Emerald City with two big turrets.
- 1:39:57SPEAKER_04: Towers, two turrets, two towers, and put shoot the camera by them.
- 1:40:02SPEAKER_04: And it's like, then we would know.
- 1:40:03SPEAKER_04: Then we would know.
- 1:40:04SPEAKER_04: Just we need two turrets.
- 1:40:06SPEAKER_05: Maybe I missed that.
- 1:40:06SPEAKER_05: I think you did.
- 1:40:07SPEAKER_05: Just didn't because like when they do with fireworks and whatever, there's a lot of turrets.
- 1:40:11SPEAKER_05: There's so I do get that, but you know what?
- 1:40:13SPEAKER_05: I noticed last night.
- 1:40:14SPEAKER_05: There's one with like one of the There's so many windows that are broken.
- 1:40:17SPEAKER_05: Every window is broken already.
- 1:40:18SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, wait, I'm confused.
- 1:40:20SPEAKER_05: Did she already fly through this?
- 1:40:21SPEAKER_05: And it's like, no, yeah, just every window's broken for no reason, but one is fine.
- 1:40:25SPEAKER_05: And when until she goes, like, it's me.
- 1:40:28SPEAKER_05: Jumps through it.
- 1:40:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:40:30SPEAKER_04: Something about this the the this ending sequence was But did you like the balloon scene?
- 1:40:34SPEAKER_05: I thought I thought it was fun.
- 1:40:35SPEAKER_05: I thought that like I was like, how do they know how to use balloons?
- 1:40:40SPEAKER_04: How do the girls know how to use balloons?
- 1:40:45SPEAKER_05: Elfie?
- 1:40:50SPEAKER_05: It's clear that they don't.
- 1:40:51SPEAKER_05: It's a struggle.
- 1:40:52SPEAKER_05: It's a it's a little double tower.
- 1:40:54SPEAKER_05: I will say, I will.
- 1:40:55SPEAKER_05: It's a little double tower, double wooden tower.
- 1:40:57SPEAKER_05: As someone who did love and like was pleasantly surprised by the Twin Towers.
- 1:41:02SPEAKER_05: The Twin Tower hot air balloon.
- 1:41:03SPEAKER_05: I was like, ooh, this is so fun and beautiful.
- 1:41:06SPEAKER_05: And like, ooh, I like this moment.
- 1:41:08SPEAKER_05: It was a little double tower.
- 1:41:09SPEAKER_04: That's what I mean.
- 1:41:10SPEAKER_04: To me, it's like emblematic of my whole critique anyway.
- 1:41:13SPEAKER_04: But uh then we get it.
- 1:41:14SPEAKER_04: No one cares.
- 1:41:15SPEAKER_04: Well, some people do.
- 1:41:16SPEAKER_04: There are ways to direct the story.
- 1:41:19SPEAKER_04: Like a well-designed movie, a well-directed movie, a well-performed movie can funnel all that information into a way that doesn't hurt your mind at all as you're watching it.
- 1:41:29SPEAKER_04: It just slides right in.
- 1:41:31SPEAKER_04: You're a big open hole, and it's lubed up and it's perfect, and it's beautiful, and it feels amazing.
- 1:41:35SPEAKER_04: There are other movies that that that are rough and it hurts and it's confusing.
- 1:41:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:41:40SPEAKER_04: And it makes you feel bad when you're done.
- 1:41:42SPEAKER_04: There are times when this movie is a lot hurting my hole.
- 1:41:45SPEAKER_04: And I wish it would go in a little softer and smoother.
- 1:41:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah, there are there are times where it hurts my hole too.
- 1:41:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:41:52SPEAKER_05: A little bit.
- 1:41:53SPEAKER_05: It's a little, it's a little rough in in some spots.
- 1:41:56SPEAKER_05: But we're in defying gravity.
- 1:41:57SPEAKER_04: We're in defying gravity.
- 1:41:58SPEAKER_04: We're finally here.
- 1:41:59SPEAKER_04: The moment the moment of the end of act one.
- 1:42:02SPEAKER_05: Again, the broom.
- 1:42:04SPEAKER_05: We already talked about this.
- 1:42:05SPEAKER_05: And again, my my response is show some restraint.
- 1:42:09SPEAKER_05: I am all about, everyone is all about an organic witch broom.
- 1:42:14SPEAKER_05: Like, hello.
- 1:42:16SPEAKER_05: Hello.
- 1:42:17SPEAKER_05: Hello.
- 1:42:19SPEAKER_05: But like that thing, unfortunately, not to bring up Harry Potter, but they do do the brooms.
- 1:42:25SPEAKER_05: The organic brooms good.
- 1:42:27SPEAKER_05: They figured out brooms, yeah.
- 1:42:28SPEAKER_05: We all want that.
- 1:42:29SPEAKER_05: We all want it to feel like real and a little twisted and like well, from a tree.
- 1:42:33SPEAKER_05: And like that thing was like so girthy.
- 1:42:36SPEAKER_05: She was like, that thing was a fucking fistful.
- 1:42:40SPEAKER_05: Twisted roots.
- 1:42:41SPEAKER_04: Weird.
- 1:42:41SPEAKER_04: Where did the wizard find that broom?
- 1:42:43SPEAKER_05: That was like huge.
- 1:42:45SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, girl, not every actor needs to be that involved.
- 1:42:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:42:49SPEAKER_05: That's where I was like, show some restraint.
- 1:42:52SPEAKER_05: Please, for the love of God, the broom is so important.
- 1:42:55SPEAKER_05: Imagine if it was just like a little simplified, just like a little rooted.
- 1:43:00SPEAKER_05: I was like a little organically shaped, simple, clean thing.
- 1:43:04SPEAKER_05: Watching it the second time, I was like, what if it was just like a broom?
- 1:43:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:43:07SPEAKER_05: Like, what if it was just like a broom?
- 1:43:09SPEAKER_05: I was like, like the fucking natural hair broom we almost bought at Lowe's yesterday.
- 1:43:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, the happy.
- 1:43:15SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:43:15SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:43:16SPEAKER_05: Wait, yeah.
- 1:43:17SPEAKER_05: You know what we haven't talked about?
- 1:43:22SPEAKER_05: Well, it's at the end of the movie, and then we'll talk about the very end.
- 1:43:25SPEAKER_04: That's the very end.
- 1:43:26SPEAKER_04: That should have been the beginning.
- 1:43:26SPEAKER_04: Oh my god.
- 1:43:27SPEAKER_05: My hairline only has 10 seconds.
- 1:43:30SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:43:30SPEAKER_04: Anyway, so the movie ends.
- 1:43:31SPEAKER_04: We get we get to uh defining gravity.
- 1:43:34SPEAKER_04: Beautiful.
- 1:43:35SPEAKER_04: Ariana finds a cape randomly for the game.
- 1:43:37SPEAKER_05: Yeah, again, no one needs this goes back to the author being a pervert.
- 1:43:40SPEAKER_05: It's like we don't need the context of things there.
- 1:43:42SPEAKER_05: The witch got her cape.
- 1:43:44SPEAKER_05: It's like, yeah.
- 1:43:44SPEAKER_05: Or or maybe maybe people losers do.
- 1:43:46SPEAKER_05: They risk they want that.
- 1:43:48SPEAKER_05: Losers?
- 1:43:49SPEAKER_05: Sound off below.
- 1:43:49SPEAKER_05: Do you need do you want to know?
- 1:43:50SPEAKER_04: Do you need to?
- 1:43:51SPEAKER_06: I'm just like personally, I'm like, I don't care.
- 1:43:54SPEAKER_04: We get to uh the big number.
- 1:43:56SPEAKER_04: Cynthia kills the dog.
- 1:43:57SPEAKER_04: The only problem is that it's broken up.
- 1:43:59SPEAKER_04: And here's the thing.
- 1:44:00SPEAKER_05: I think, okay, he does it twice.
- 1:44:02SPEAKER_05: And it's rude.
- 1:44:03SPEAKER_05: I think do it once.
- 1:44:05SPEAKER_05: It's cool.
- 1:44:05SPEAKER_05: And like things are different.
- 1:44:07SPEAKER_05: We're in cinema.
- 1:44:08SPEAKER_05: We're, you know, but he does, he breaks the sequence up twice.
- 1:44:12SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, okay, that's rude.
- 1:44:14SPEAKER_05: Because one, she falls, and I love that she falls.
- 1:44:17SPEAKER_05: I think that's cool.
- 1:44:19SPEAKER_05: It goes on a little too long.
- 1:44:20SPEAKER_05: It could be a little sucked in.
- 1:44:22SPEAKER_04: Her fall out of the tower?
- 1:44:23SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 1:44:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:44:24SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 1:44:24SPEAKER_05: That's a long fall.
- 1:44:25SPEAKER_05: It's a long ass fall.
- 1:44:27SPEAKER_05: I do like that, like she sees her younger self and like reaches and then to cat to like touch her younger self's hand, and the she accidentally catches the broom and is like, oh wait, wait, I have power.
- 1:44:39SPEAKER_05: Like I'm here.
- 1:44:39SPEAKER_05: Because then she goes on for an hour.
- 1:44:41SPEAKER_05: She's like, unlimited.
- 1:44:43SPEAKER_05: It's like in the falling moment, could have combined both of those.
- 1:44:46SPEAKER_05: She could have been like, when she saw herself, it could have been the unlimited.
- 1:44:49SPEAKER_04: You know, she's going really high up.
- 1:44:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:44:50SPEAKER_04: And then she's coming really far back down.
- 1:44:52SPEAKER_04: And then she's flying really fast away.
- 1:44:54SPEAKER_04: It's like, yeah.
- 1:44:54SPEAKER_05: Well, you and I were like, wow, that hat is fused to her head.
- 1:44:58SPEAKER_05: I think it would have been cute, unnecessary, but cute for me, that like when she fell, her hat came off.
- 1:45:05SPEAKER_05: And when she caught the wand, I mean the uh broom and flew up, she accidentally flew into her hat.
- 1:45:11SPEAKER_04: Well, to me, it's like when she was flying at the end of the movie, she literally flies off, you know, at the off camera.
- 1:45:15SPEAKER_04: It was like that was 90 miles an hour.
- 1:45:17SPEAKER_04: Not 90,000 miles an hour.
- 1:45:19SPEAKER_04: It was faster than anything.
- 1:45:22SPEAKER_04: In the same way that her footsteps were like goom.
- 1:45:24SPEAKER_04: Goosh, gooseh.
- 1:45:25SPEAKER_04: Her flying was like her Godzilla.
- 1:45:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah, she was like you caught you flagged it though.
- 1:45:35SPEAKER_05: Her hat was fused to her head.
- 1:45:36SPEAKER_05: Or maybe you you more so flagged why her cape got so big.
- 1:45:40SPEAKER_04: I that's that's what I flagged.
- 1:45:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:45:42SPEAKER_04: I was like, I don't remember the hat, but I remember her cape got bigger and bigger and bigger as the as the number went on.
- 1:45:46SPEAKER_04: I was okay with it.
- 1:45:48SPEAKER_05: It got a little too big.
- 1:45:49SPEAKER_05: It unfolded.
- 1:45:50SPEAKER_05: It got a little too big.
- 1:45:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:45:52SPEAKER_05: I'm like, I want answers for that one.
- 1:45:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:45:54SPEAKER_05: I know they're trying to reference like the tower.
- 1:45:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:45:58SPEAKER_05: Tower.
- 1:45:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:45:59SPEAKER_05: The genie lip.
- 1:46:00SPEAKER_05: It was fine.
- 1:46:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:46:00SPEAKER_05: But they could have shot that differently.
- 1:46:02SPEAKER_05: They could have achieved the same effect with like a medium cape.
- 1:46:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:46:06SPEAKER_05: Just a little lower, shot a little lower and like a little shadowy.
- 1:46:09SPEAKER_04: I'd like to think they tried everything, but in reality, they probably just thought, like, we'll do it in VFX, and that's why it was so easy.
- 1:46:15SPEAKER_04: But the cape got big.
- 1:46:16SPEAKER_04: Regardless.
- 1:46:17SPEAKER_04: It got big.
- 1:46:18SPEAKER_04: She does such a good job that it's a big thing.
- 1:46:20SPEAKER_05: She literally is so brilliant.
- 1:46:22SPEAKER_05: It's toe on your ass, chilling.
- 1:46:24SPEAKER_05: It's toe in your ass.
- 1:46:25SPEAKER_05: Honey, it's press on toenail on your toe, in your ass.
- 1:46:29SPEAKER_05: Chilling.
- 1:46:29SPEAKER_05: Chilling.
- 1:46:30SPEAKER_05: She I can't wait to see.
- 1:46:32SPEAKER_04: She can do no wrong.
- 1:46:33SPEAKER_04: I cannot wait to see part two.
- 1:46:34SPEAKER_04: I'm excited.
- 1:46:35SPEAKER_05: The only thing.
- 1:46:36SPEAKER_04: Nothing about Wicked has ever made me excited, but now I'm excited to see part two.
- 1:46:39SPEAKER_05: Oh, she's invested.
- 1:46:40SPEAKER_05: I've turned to her.
- 1:46:41SPEAKER_05: What do we do for part two?
- 1:46:42SPEAKER_05: Well, I think I'll be Dorothy in part two.
- 1:46:44SPEAKER_05: Oh, but Dorothy post-makeover, when she gets like a piggy perm.
- 1:46:48SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah, and I'll be the skull.
- 1:46:49SPEAKER_05: Cool.
- 1:46:49SPEAKER_05: Like she gets a double stack, like half up, half down.
- 1:46:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:46:53SPEAKER_04: She does a little bit of a pile.
- 1:46:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:46:54SPEAKER_05: She kind of invented.
- 1:46:55SPEAKER_04: And the line against the same one.
- 1:46:56SPEAKER_04: Hot tool.
- 1:46:57SPEAKER_04: He's like, give me what she's having.
- 1:46:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:47:07SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 1:47:08SPEAKER_05: Well, thank God that there's a part two because we have a lot more to say.
- 1:47:13SPEAKER_05: Well, we're not done yet because this is a shame that this is so top of the episode, but sure.
- 1:47:18SPEAKER_05: Plug shoehorn this in because it is so worthy.
- 1:47:21SPEAKER_05: We've been dying to talk about this.
- 1:47:22SPEAKER_05: We've been dying.
- 1:47:22SPEAKER_05: Shoehorn her in.
- 1:47:24SPEAKER_05: I deserve it.
- 1:47:25SPEAKER_04: In the fall, you went to Rhode Island, where you're from.
- 1:47:27SPEAKER_04: You performed at the Dark Lady.
- 1:47:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:47:29SPEAKER_04: Uh, you did two numbers.
- 1:47:31SPEAKER_04: Uh, one was a Titanic Medley, which was into Chapel Roan.
- 1:47:35SPEAKER_04: And the second was uh Defying Gravity.
- 1:47:38SPEAKER_04: Defying well, it was Wicked into Brittany into Wicked.
- 1:47:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:47:41SPEAKER_04: Uh the Dark Lady has a has a big uh stripper pole that goes up to the ceiling.
- 1:47:45SPEAKER_04: You were like, I wanna climb up the pole at the big, big, big number for Defying Gravity.
- 1:47:51SPEAKER_05: Because like, wait, context.
- 1:47:53SPEAKER_05: I'm known to be like people used to call me monkey boy.
- 1:47:57SPEAKER_05: I can climb many things and many poles, and that's just like a skill I have.
- 1:48:03SPEAKER_05: So I was trying to play within my bag, my skill set.
- 1:48:07SPEAKER_05: I was like, okay, wait.
- 1:48:08SPEAKER_05: The dark lady has, like Mike's saying, a floor to ceiling, gigantic stirper pole, which is taller than I guess.
- 1:48:16SPEAKER_05: So I was like, I want to do Defiant Gravity and just like go up there and be like a faggot.
- 1:48:20SPEAKER_05: So we went, we went to Rhode Island.
- 1:48:22SPEAKER_05: Which, by the way, okay, I feel like if you do as a drag queen, Defiant Gravity is low-hanging fruit.
- 1:48:28SPEAKER_05: It's like you better do something.
- 1:48:30SPEAKER_05: Because especially, again, now there's Cynthia's track, like there's a new soundtrack out, it's fresher and you can do whatever you want.
- 1:48:37SPEAKER_05: But like going off of like the OG track, it's like you better have a trick up your sleeve.
- 1:48:43SPEAKER_05: It's so low-hanging.
- 1:48:44SPEAKER_05: I would never in a million years choose to do this number, but I did choose to do it because I was like, oh, I'm gonna climb up that fucking pole and be like a fucking dumbass witch.
- 1:48:55SPEAKER_05: At one point, I was like, one of you all will like shoot up a broom and I'll catch it and just be this fucking stunty cunty whore, witchy, bitchy genius.
- 1:49:05SPEAKER_04: We went and we were like, let's go scout, let's go see if like the let us in early.
- 1:49:09SPEAKER_04: Finally, like somebody like let us into like the big empty.
- 1:49:12SPEAKER_04: I was like, I'm gonna try the pole.
- 1:49:13SPEAKER_04: And I turn around and you're gone.
- 1:49:16SPEAKER_04: I was like, Where, where, where's Ange?
- 1:49:18SPEAKER_04: Where where did Gina go?
- 1:49:20SPEAKER_04: And you were and I look up and you're literally in you're 20 feet up in the air, you're in the rafters.
- 1:49:25SPEAKER_04: You were like, Well, we went there the day early to see if I could do it.
- 1:49:28SPEAKER_04: I blinked, and you were in you were in the attic.
- 1:49:31SPEAKER_04: It was like you were up there.
- 1:49:32SPEAKER_04: It was you were gone.
- 1:49:33SPEAKER_04: It was like this.
- 1:49:34SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:49:34SPEAKER_04: It was easy.
- 1:49:35SPEAKER_04: I was like, I'm I'm the biggest wet blanket on earth.
- 1:49:37SPEAKER_04: Um everything that Gina dreams up.
- 1:49:39SPEAKER_04: I'm like, you can't do it, you can't do it.
- 1:49:40SPEAKER_04: You can't do it.
- 1:49:40SPEAKER_04: There's no way, there's no way to do it.
- 1:49:41SPEAKER_04: I'm used to it.
- 1:49:42SPEAKER_05: I'm always like and that's why I qu I start to question.
- 1:49:44SPEAKER_05: I'm like, I don't know.
- 1:49:45SPEAKER_05: I am I I am a dreamer.
- 1:49:46SPEAKER_05: So we're we go early.
- 1:49:48SPEAKER_04: I was I ate the biggest crow pie on earth.
- 1:49:51SPEAKER_04: I was like, she could fucking climb anything.
- 1:49:54SPEAKER_04: I was up there two seconds.
- 1:49:55SPEAKER_04: She was up there in two seconds.
- 1:49:56SPEAKER_04: I was like, Okay, we got it.
- 1:49:58SPEAKER_04: There's not there, this is gonna this is it.
- 1:49:59SPEAKER_04: This is The number is gonna we're gonna do it, it's gonna be great.
- 1:50:03SPEAKER_04: Cut to the day.
- 1:50:05SPEAKER_05: Cut to the day.
- 1:50:06SPEAKER_05: Cut to the day.
- 1:50:06SPEAKER_05: I do my number.
- 1:50:09SPEAKER_05: The Dark Lady has go-go dancers perform in between like drag queen sets, which is so cute.
- 1:50:16SPEAKER_04: But I did not anticipate potentially being hours of go-go dancers greasing up the pole with their hands, their bodies.
- 1:50:28SPEAKER_05: They're literally like a luby look.
- 1:50:30SPEAKER_05: So I finally like do this number.
- 1:50:33SPEAKER_05: So humiliating.
- 1:50:34SPEAKER_05: Like I go, I run, I run to the poll.
- 1:50:37SPEAKER_05: It's the part where it's like the crowd is cheering.
- 1:50:39SPEAKER_05: They know what's coming.
- 1:50:40SPEAKER_05: They're like, this bitch is going.
- 1:50:42SPEAKER_05: They're like, this is it.
- 1:50:44SPEAKER_05: This is so dark.
- 1:50:45SPEAKER_05: Cause like, again, no one's gonna care, but it's still something that makes me shiver.
- 1:50:48SPEAKER_05: It's like I go up.
- 1:50:52SPEAKER_05: The poll is luby from the fucking go-go boys.
- 1:50:55SPEAKER_05: You got lubi fucking shit.
- 1:50:57SPEAKER_05: I I jump and I like You got up maybe one foot.
- 1:51:01SPEAKER_05: One foot, and then I try again.
- 1:51:03SPEAKER_05: Again, yeah.
- 1:51:04SPEAKER_05: It's desperate.
- 1:51:05SPEAKER_05: What's going through your mind?
- 1:51:06SPEAKER_05: Because you knew how much like I needed to do that.
- 1:51:09SPEAKER_05: Because I would have never, again, disclaimer.
- 1:51:12SPEAKER_05: Now I I mean, here I am dressed as Zelfoba, but like in a drag show I never would have in a drag show, and it's a very clubby scene.
- 1:51:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:51:20SPEAKER_05: I was like, the only way this will ever fly is if I do something stunty and I could not get up the pole.
- 1:51:27SPEAKER_05: I've never met a pole that I could not climb.
- 1:51:30SPEAKER_05: I was sliding like a fucking dumbass bitch, loser bitch, weirdo, desperate.
- 1:51:35SPEAKER_04: What I will say is that going through my mind, like if the crowd had not been supportive.
- 1:51:42SPEAKER_04: Like it's not supportive, they were living for you.
- 1:51:44SPEAKER_04: It was is like both your numbers were like bad.
- 1:51:48SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:51:48SPEAKER_05: Because I'm not like a lip singer, like you know, I'm green.
- 1:51:51SPEAKER_04: But the crowd, the crowd was living.
- 1:51:54SPEAKER_04: They were living, they were living for the first number, they were living for this number.
- 1:51:57SPEAKER_04: If they if they were not as into what you were doing, I think it would have made you feel worse.
- 1:52:03SPEAKER_04: But you went from, you know, you you tried twice.
- 1:52:06SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:52:07SPEAKER_04: Imagine trying twice.
- 1:52:08SPEAKER_04: But but then you but then you pivoted.
- 1:52:10SPEAKER_04: You didn't and you didn't lose the crowd.
- 1:52:11SPEAKER_04: That that's why it didn't make me feel suicidal.
- 1:52:15SPEAKER_04: Like I felt suicidal.
- 1:52:16SPEAKER_04: I felt bad.
- 1:52:17SPEAKER_05: To this day, I'm like so crazy.
- 1:52:18SPEAKER_05: But it was fast.
- 1:52:19SPEAKER_05: It was it wasn't that it wasn't that yeah.
- 1:52:21SPEAKER_05: You asked the basic bitches, like my friends in the audience, and they were like, I didn't even notice, and that's fine.
- 1:52:27SPEAKER_05: But I'm like, to this day, it gives probably us both a little bit of a shiver.
- 1:52:31SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's different for me because like I always have this sort of like thought in my mind where it's like it's not gonna work.
- 1:52:38SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:52:38SPEAKER_04: Because you're crazy.
- 1:52:40SPEAKER_05: But in my defense, the day before, I was up now in two seconds.
- 1:52:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah, poles don't scare me.
- 1:52:46SPEAKER_05: I can climb a pole, but not when they're fucking looby.
- 1:52:49SPEAKER_05: Not when they're lubed up.
- 1:52:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:52:51SPEAKER_05: So it was very, it was very humbling experience.
- 1:52:53SPEAKER_04: But and I will say it, maybe we'll throw a little bit of a clip at the end.
- 1:52:57SPEAKER_05: You slayed the end of it.
- 1:52:59SPEAKER_05: I had to.
- 1:53:00SPEAKER_05: I was like, you can see the anger in my face because I'm so humiliated and mad.
- 1:53:04SPEAKER_05: And like, I'm not one who's like musical or like I don't have great musicality, but I hit the like boom, boom ending because I was just like nailed it.
- 1:53:15SPEAKER_05: But but it's also I was like, I gotta, I better whip this wig that's taped and glued down because I was angry.
- 1:53:22SPEAKER_05: You ended it in this way where the crowd was wild.
- 1:53:25SPEAKER_04: It was wild.
- 1:53:26SPEAKER_04: They were why it was it was I don't know if it did so well that it bothered the host.
- 1:53:29SPEAKER_05: I mean, I think that's like it did bother the host a little bit.
- 1:53:31SPEAKER_05: I'm not sure.
- 1:53:32SPEAKER_05: I I think they could have cheered for every anyone or anything, right?
- 1:53:35SPEAKER_05: But I'll I'll take the compliment and I appreciate that.
- 1:53:38SPEAKER_05: But dear God, yeah, it did it did make for a better ending because I was grounded, so fucking humbled and humiliated.
- 1:53:44SPEAKER_05: But I was I was like, I'll give this fucking ending.
- 1:53:48SPEAKER_05: I have to.
- 1:53:49SPEAKER_04: No one's gonna bring her down.
- 1:53:50SPEAKER_05: It was like boom, boom, boom, hang.
- 1:53:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it was boom cack.
- 1:53:54SPEAKER_05: I had to, but wow, humbled.
- 1:53:56SPEAKER_05: And and I can't look at a poll the same way.
- 1:53:59SPEAKER_05: Well, we got through Wicked.
- 1:54:01SPEAKER_05: Thank you so much for paying us to do this.
- 1:54:05SPEAKER_05: Keep paying us, and we'll keep giving you garbage, horrible videos like this.

- 1:54:26SPEAKER_04: My sequin jacket gay level.
- 1:54:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm literally already there.
- 1:54:29SPEAKER_05: Thank God my bestie co-host goes as low as I go.
- 1:54:33SPEAKER_04: I'm happy to be there in the ship with him.

- 1:54:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you look amazing.
- 1:54:36SPEAKER_04: I'm so happy that you got your alphabet fantasy.
