- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So today I'm going to share a quote from Rumi with you, who is
- 0:34a Sufi poet. Absolutely.
- 0:37Just a mind boggling how great his quotes are.
- 0:40They run all over the Internet and memes, but this one happens
- 0:43to be about the garden in winter and it goes as follows.
- 0:49And don't think that the garden loses its ecstasy in the winter.
- 0:54It's quiet, but the roots are down there.
- 0:56Riotous. Isn't that awesome?
- 0:59Because that's exactly what's happening.
- 1:01I walk by things right now and I look at them and they're all
- 1:05brown on the top. They all look like they're just
- 1:08not doing anything. But in fact, in all that dead
- 1:12looking material are seeds. There's all that, this beautiful
- 1:17potential sitting there in what looks to be not good at all.
- 1:21And it got me really thinking about how this time of the year
- 1:25can be. So for me, it's very
- 1:27invigorating to be outside and actually doing gardening work.
- 1:31Now for some of you, just like when I lived in New England, you
- 1:35can't really garden at all, but you still have these pockets of
- 1:38time where you can actually winter garden where you're
- 1:41cleaning up, you're putting, you know, new plants.
- 1:44Sometimes you can actually plant in the garden this time of the
- 1:47year and get things started if it's the right kind of
- 1:51vegetables or what not. But for me, going around and
- 1:55just planning and the potential of everything then that you
- 1:58could do, there is quite a riotous thought in my head.
- 2:02It overtakes me. It becomes something that I
- 2:04can't stop thinking about. It becomes something that just
- 2:08wakes my soul up because I'm thinking about Oh my gosh, what
- 2:11am I going to do for next year? How am I going to have this work
- 2:15out. And it's part of all of my
- 2:17planning for the next phase. And and what I find that makes
- 2:22me so exhilarated about the process is dwelling in the
- 2:27potential of it. Dwelling in what do I want to
- 2:29see, how do I want it to look And going and actually vision
- 2:33boarding it, pulling out different styles of how people
- 2:36grow, things like I'm going to try a completely different
- 2:39method for tomatoes this year and I think it's going to
- 2:42hopefully be astonishingly great because this, the heat down
- 2:47South is always a lot to deal with.
- 2:50But I want to make sure that I can continue to set myself up
- 2:53for, you know, more success and more success.
- 2:56So when you start thinking about the what's going on under the
- 3:01surface and you think, oh, the winter is quiet, this is a time
- 3:04for collecting and healing. And it's that's all very true.
- 3:08But there's a part of us that's that creative portion, that
- 3:12that's the potential going to the potential place that you
- 3:16cannot deny is still happening. It's happening in the world
- 3:19around us. It's happening it within us.
- 3:21And when you pay attention and you start to think of it that
- 3:24way, you become so much more attuned to having it light your
- 3:29fire for setting yourself up to win for the next year.
- 3:32And that's what this is kind of about like lighting your fire,
- 3:35living in that riotous thought in your head and saying, wow,
- 3:39OK, I'm really going to, like, get excited about this.
- 3:42It's about allowing the excitement to take place, and
- 3:45for me, allowing it is just glorious.
- 3:49So start thinking for yourself, Well, what do I want to put
- 3:53together that I could use the word that it's riotous going on
- 3:57in my head. It's like having this abundant
- 4:00joy. Just take off.
- 4:04And that's the part that gets so exciting.
- 4:06So I know whenever I grow things and I'm using air quotes when I
- 4:11say the word things, it could be plants, it could be humans, it
- 4:15could be anything. When I'm working with people, it
- 4:18all makes me feel like I'm on that growth path.
- 4:20And for me, that's what lights me up.
- 4:23So what lights you up? What are the things that you
- 4:26want to light up within yourself?
- 4:29What are the parts of yourself that you want to take from
- 4:32looking like it's all nothing to it's something.
- 4:36What do you want to potentially put out there?
- 4:39And this is all the best part of this is we are all pre actually
- 4:43saying this is a goal. We're all just putting it on the
- 4:45table and saying what's the potential, what are the
- 4:48possibilities? What are the things that make me
- 4:52just get excited? So before I started recording
- 4:54this today, my 2 cochins, I have two white Cochin chickens and
- 4:59they look like marshmallows. They're just so puffy and so
- 5:01beautiful and so gentle. They're some of the sweetest
- 5:04chickens you could ever have. And I thought to myself, you
- 5:07know, I only got two of them because when I didn't, when I
- 5:11started off this project with the chickens, I didn't realize
- 5:15the personalities would be so profound in them.
- 5:18I thought, you know what, I really want to have some more of
- 5:20them. So this year I'm making it a
- 5:22point that that's on the possibilities list to say, OK, I
- 5:25want more coachings because they're really beautiful natured
- 5:29birds. But it's not just about the
- 5:32chickens. It could be anything that you
- 5:34want. All the potential that you have
- 5:35is right at your fingertips. So figure it out and remember
- 5:39his words. It's quiet, but the roots down
- 5:41there are riotous. So go figure out your roots.
- 5:44All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I'll
- 5:46see you tomorrow. Bye.
