- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Cantonese with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. We've been learning so many useful phrases for different places. Lucas: Last episode, we went to a museum. Now let's go somewhere else — a hotel. Luna: Ooh, checking into a hotel! That's something I'd love to be able to do in Cantonese. Lucas: It's great because you'll use these phrases when you travel. So today's first word is 酒店. Luna: 酒店. That's hotel, right? Lucas: Exactly. 酒店 means hotel. Say it with me: 酒店. Luna: 酒店. Lucas: Good. Next, 入住. This means check-in, like at a hotel. Luna: 入住. Check-in. Lucas: Now let's put them together. If you want to say 'I want to check in', you say 我想入住. Luna: 我想入住. So 我 is I, 想 is want, and 入住 is check-in. 我想入住. Lucas: Perfect. Now, when you check in, they give you a room number. The phrase for room number is 房間號碼. Luna: 房間號碼. Room number. Lucas: And you can ask 'What is the room number?' by saying 房間號碼係幾多? Luna: 房間號碼係幾多. That's a mouthful. 房間號碼係幾多. Lucas: You're doing great. Finally, you need the key. Key in Cantonese is 鎖匙. Luna: 鎖匙. That sounds like 'so see'. Lucas: Close! 鎖匙. And if you want to ask for the key, you can say 請畀鎖匙我 — please give me the key. Luna: 請畀鎖匙我. But today we'll stick with just 鎖匙 for now. Lucas: Okay. Now let's imagine you're at the front desk. You walk in and say: 我想入住. Luna: 我想入住. Lucas: Then the receptionist might say your room number. You ask: 房間號碼係幾多? Luna: 房間號碼係幾多? Lucas: They tell you, and then you ask for the key: 鎖匙, please. Actually, just 鎖匙 is fine. Luna: So you say 鎖匙. Got it. Lucas: Let's do a quick practice. Repeat after me: 酒店. Luna: 酒店. Lucas: 入住. Luna: 入住. Lucas: 房間號碼. Luna: 房間號碼. Lucas: 鎖匙. Luna: 鎖匙. Lucas: Now the sentences: 我想入住. Luna: 我想入住. Lucas: 房間號碼係幾多? Luna: 房間號碼係幾多? Lucas: Excellent. You know, it's this kind of practical phrase that makes a real difference when you travel. Luna: For sure. Being able to say even just a few words changes the whole experience. Lucas: And if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Cantonese, well, a couple of dollars a month is genuinely what keeps these going. Buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo, if you've gotten something out of them. Luna: Yeah, it really helps us keep the show ad-free and focused on teaching. Every bit counts. Lucas: Absolutely. So let's wrap up today with one more repetition. Ready? Luna: Ready. Lucas: 酒店. Luna: 酒店. Lucas: 入住. Luna: 入住. Lucas: 房間號碼. Luna: 房間號碼. Lucas: 鎖匙. Luna: 鎖匙. Lucas: And the sentences: 我想入住. Luna: 我想入住. Lucas: 房間號碼係幾多? Luna: 房間號碼係幾多? Lucas: You did fantastic, Luna. Practice these before your next trip. Luna: I will. Thanks, Lucas. And thanks to all of you for listening. See you next time. Lucas: Bye for now, and keep learning with Fexingo.
