- 0:20Speaker 2: So there's a fog machine that they decided to let
- 0:23Speaker 2: out in the studio. I walked in this morning to
- 0:26Speaker 2: like a wall of smoke, and and I feel my
- 0:29Speaker 2: chest feels a little tighter.
- 0:30Speaker 1: So Evan's already complaining, I'm speaking of the rope. Wants
- 0:33Speaker 1: to know will his Kolonaska may be a single camp
- 0:36Speaker 1: Kolinosky or remote? Well, seems quick, It's it's probably like
- 0:39Speaker 1: an hour procedure. It really depends on what they see
- 0:41Speaker 1: in there, you know. And they might open them up
- 0:43Speaker 1: and see the Hollywood sign and say, what's going on
- 0:45Speaker 1: in here?
- 0:46Speaker 3: You know.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I just don't want no listen. I don't want people
- 0:52Speaker 1: to get mad that, oh they're going off the rails here.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Here's the conundrum of the human mind. Okay, when trying
- 0:58Speaker 1: to figure out existence, one time there was absolutely nothing
- 1:03Speaker 1: and something came of nothing. So then if that can't happen,
- 1:07Speaker 1: then we have to believe that there was always something.
- 1:10Speaker 1: There's a mechanism that the aliens, because I get when
- 1:13Speaker 1: I get close to figuring it out, that make me
- 1:15Speaker 1: go to sleep. We can't have Fred figuring this out.
- 1:18Speaker 1: I owned an Italian sub in honor of Paul Tonac.
- 1:21Speaker 1: This is Patriots.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:25Speaker 4: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:29Speaker 1: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:33Speaker 1: at j Les Stadium, and it's the three of us.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Paul is back from Italy, so I'm sure we're gonna
- 1:39Speaker 1: have a lot to talk about there. I haven't heard
- 1:42Speaker 1: of any international incidents yet, you know, I know, I
- 1:46Speaker 1: looked up the Italian version of toys r Ussis Giocchi noir.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Okay, So no incident.
- 1:54Speaker 5: Nothing even resembling an incident in Italy, okay. Minor little
- 1:59Speaker 5: thing on the plane once we landed back in Boston.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Oh, just a little bit kind of funny. Okay, we'll
- 2:04Speaker 1: talk about that. And we got Evan here. Deuce is
- 2:06Speaker 1: out today, Matt's in the booth talk and Patriots and
- 2:09Speaker 1: everything else. A lot of emails follow up from Thursday show.
- 2:13Speaker 1: It's an epic show. Epic show, people saying it maybe
- 2:17Speaker 1: one of the best off season shows we've ever done. Wow,
- 2:21Speaker 1: that's what I've heard.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I believe that people. People are saying that I didn't
- 2:25Speaker 2: even really know what to say. I heard people who
- 2:29Speaker 2: told you that I thought we had a great time.
- 2:31Speaker 2: People are saying it he's just upset because he wasn't.
- 2:34Speaker 1: That's okay. I don't think Paul would have liked that
- 2:36Speaker 1: kind of discussion anyway.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I was interested.
- 2:39Speaker 5: But yeah, his latest message I got, So what are
- 2:44Speaker 5: the chances PFW? Paul listened to last Thursday show and
- 2:47Speaker 5: decided to stay in Italy?
- 2:48Speaker 4: Oh who sent you that? Like the sideline?
- 2:53Speaker 5: Okay, but one person, I just that was the most
- 2:57Speaker 5: recent one I had. Okay, I got, I got the questions.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Everybody everybody had newsletter ranking my favorite Star Wars shows,
- 3:07Speaker 2: you know, movies in orders.
- 3:09Speaker 4: I'm like, huh. Then I got a cartoon from our buddy. Uh,
- 3:14Speaker 4: I'm sorry. Wow, Yeah about you.
- 3:17Speaker 2: And all your you know, my philosophies, existentialism crap.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know, Paul. Some people like Star Wars.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Did you hear? Have you heard? Have you heard?
- 3:27Speaker 2: It's pretty popular? I don't know if you know about that.
- 3:30Speaker 5: This was not an anti Star Wars rant. It was
- 3:32Speaker 5: an anti show rant. Oh he does does a lot
- 3:35Speaker 5: of people.
- 3:36Speaker 2: He doesn't participate it, like like he's.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Gotta be right because if it doesn't have Yeah, possibly
- 3:42Speaker 1: that's okay, that's fact, little fomo. Yeah anyway, all right,
- 3:48Speaker 1: so what do we got Patriots wise going on? Rookies
- 3:51Speaker 1: are still here.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Yeah, We're at rookie mini camp on Saturday, So that
- 3:55Speaker 2: that was fun. I didn't see everybody. No Gabe Acis
- 3:59Speaker 2: he was physically there but not practicing, and no Eli
- 4:03Speaker 2: Reridan either, So not the whole class, but we saw
- 4:07Speaker 2: a bunch of the rookies, a bunch of the udfas,
- 4:10Speaker 2: the tryout players. A couple guys actually got contracts out
- 4:12Speaker 2: of those tryout players that had good weekends. So yeah,
- 4:16Speaker 2: it was it was good to be back out there
- 4:17Speaker 2: and see some football. Not a ton of it was
- 4:20Speaker 2: an overly competitive or anything like that. They did do
- 4:24Speaker 2: a one like real eleven on eleven period where we
- 4:28Speaker 2: saw some stuff, but I think they, you know, just
- 4:30Speaker 2: get into it a little bit. The highlight of the
- 4:32Speaker 2: practice was kind of Baron Morton. Honestly, the quarterback threw
- 4:37Speaker 2: the ball pretty well. Look look the part and you
- 4:40Speaker 2: know he was kind of the most impressive, Like, you're
- 4:43Speaker 2: not gonna really break down Caleb Loomu in a non
- 4:46Speaker 2: padded practice a day.
- 4:47Speaker 1: But but but what is this that I hear? Because that
- 4:50Speaker 1: wasn't there, I admit it. That's okay, what is this
- 4:52Speaker 1: about loan tackle?
- 4:55Speaker 2: Yeah, so Lomu was at left tackle and crown Over
- 4:58Speaker 2: was at right tackle. There's a few contextual things there.
- 5:02Speaker 2: They only had three tackles at practice. Okay, so someone
- 5:06Speaker 2: had to play left tackle. I think that's probably the
- 5:09Speaker 2: biggest piece of context that's important. The other thing I
- 5:13Speaker 2: would just say is maybe instead of already transitioning him,
- 5:18Speaker 2: let's just get his feet wet in the NFL practice
- 5:20Speaker 2: and go through the motions a little bit. This is
- 5:23Speaker 2: an it's an orientation. It's not really a you know, we're.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Not even really teaching anything yet. Yeah.
- 5:31Speaker 2: No, they're kind of just going through the motions of
- 5:34Speaker 2: what a Patriots practice routine it looks like, right, and
- 5:37Speaker 2: what the day is going to look like. It's literally orientation,
- 5:40Speaker 2: like you go in college as a freshman. So they
- 5:45Speaker 2: had him at left and crown Over played his college
- 5:48Speaker 2: position of right tackle, and Lawrence meant the international pathway
- 5:53Speaker 2: player was the third tackle at practice, so I did
- 5:56Speaker 2: see Lomu out in the back and Dante's Inferno take
- 6:00Speaker 2: a few sets from the right side, you know, in
- 6:03Speaker 2: terms of you know, hitting the pads and positional drills
- 6:05Speaker 2: and stuff like that. But in team he was he
- 6:08Speaker 2: was out left tackle.
- 6:09Speaker 4: So they practiced outside.
- 6:10Speaker 2: They did it got rained down a little bit, not
- 6:12Speaker 2: too bad. Yeah, a little bit of rain, just a
- 6:15Speaker 2: little bit of rain. I thought we did rookie. Maybe
- 6:18Speaker 2: it was because of the weather they did it last
- 6:21Speaker 2: year inside, right, Yeah, this was more like like there
- 6:26Speaker 2: was one ten to fifteen minute period where it rained
- 6:30Speaker 2: pretty good and then the rest of it was mostly dry,
- 6:33Speaker 2: but it was good. And then we talked to a
- 6:34Speaker 2: bunch of them afterwards all the day. Three guys all
- 6:39Speaker 2: spoke afterwards, so besides Quintavious Hutchins, who left with an
- 6:43Speaker 2: injury at practice, so that would be something to monitor, yep,
- 6:47Speaker 2: moving forward.
- 6:48Speaker 4: Okay, so they signed, I know one of them was
- 6:51Speaker 4: the safety.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and there was yeah, then the edgeresher name
- 6:58Speaker 2: is escaping me right now, but he was wearing fifty
- 7:00Speaker 2: one out there. Guy that didn't necessarily flash at the
- 7:05Speaker 2: practice that we were at I wouldn't say, but you
- 7:09Speaker 2: could tell that he had the measurables and you know,
- 7:11Speaker 2: sort of the body type that they look for at
- 7:13Speaker 2: that position.
- 7:15Speaker 5: So Xavier homes home side of James Madison and safety
- 7:20Speaker 5: Peter Manuma Manuma out of Hawaii.
- 7:24Speaker 2: He was one of the guys that everybody kind of
- 7:28Speaker 2: jotted down was popping the safety.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Was there a large media crew there.
- 7:34Speaker 2: You know what for a Saturday in May, for rookie
- 7:37Speaker 2: mini camp. It was decent. Okay, it was a decent crowd.
- 7:39Speaker 2: I wouldn't say the whole contingent was there, but everybody,
- 7:43Speaker 2: every outlet was represented in some way, shape or form,
- 7:47Speaker 2: So that was good. Duce and I were and Alex
- 7:49Speaker 2: she was there too. The three of us were there.
- 7:51Speaker 1: You know, we haven't had a show since Thursday obviously,
- 7:54Speaker 1: but Thursday afternoon, after our show, they had the annual
- 7:58Speaker 1: first Round picked on the field with the Craft in
- 8:01Speaker 1: the media and Caleb Lomu stopped by the studio and
- 8:07Speaker 1: sat down with us. So we're going to have that
- 8:09Speaker 1: at at halftime. We're going to play that or we
- 8:11Speaker 1: want to play it during the show. Yeah, So why
- 8:13Speaker 1: don't we go right to that and let's hear from
- 8:16Speaker 1: Caleb Lomu and us. All right, we are joined by
- 8:19Speaker 1: Caleb Lomu. Caleb, thanks for coming in.
- 8:22Speaker 6: Thank you for having me. It's a big day for you, right,
- 8:24Speaker 6: it's a big day. It's very exciting.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Yeah, you just came from the field with Jonathan and
- 8:28Speaker 1: Robert Kraft and he introduced you to the media. And
- 8:32Speaker 1: it's always a big deal here when our first round
- 8:35Speaker 1: draft pick comes down the field and goes through that ritual.
- 8:38Speaker 1: But other than that, how's your day, Ben, It's been awesome.
- 8:41Speaker 6: You know how an early flat this morning out of
- 8:43Speaker 6: Red Ice so got in early, got some sleep, which
- 8:45Speaker 6: was nice, and then you know, got straight to here,
- 8:48Speaker 6: got to meet a lot of people. Haven't met a
- 8:50Speaker 6: lot of the players yet, but kind of touring around
- 8:52Speaker 6: and doing all that.
- 8:54Speaker 1: So have you ever been to you know, New England
- 8:57Speaker 1: or you know the Boston area before.
- 8:59Speaker 6: I'm not really close as I've been, you know, one
- 9:01Speaker 6: of those thirty visits, I went to New York and
- 9:04Speaker 6: that's the close furthest I've been out here. Okay, we
- 9:06Speaker 6: don't like New York, we don't. We don't know much
- 9:08Speaker 6: different than New York. Yeah, it's this is my the
- 9:10Speaker 6: furthest I've been first time.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Okay, so you've got a lot of catching up to do.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I do.
- 9:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:15Speaker 1: So if you need any restaurant.
- 9:16Speaker 6: Reviews or anything like that, I will need some where
- 9:19Speaker 6: the people for I'll come to you.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Guys, don't he doesn't eat gluten or Derek whatever.
- 9:26Speaker 2: I told you.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I'm a red meat guy. So if you need a
- 9:28Speaker 1: steak place, you let me know. If you need what
- 9:31Speaker 1: vegetables you mean everything? Come on? That is you, guys,
- 9:38Speaker 1: fire away.
- 9:39Speaker 4: I like that hat. Do you see that? There's a
- 9:41Speaker 4: pretty pretty nice there.
- 9:43Speaker 7: Was the draft day won where when I was putting on.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I think that that's a special one. I don't know
- 9:48Speaker 2: if they sell the ones with the outline like that.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I'm not sure if they do.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Like these.
- 9:52Speaker 6: I mean in the previous years of the hatst they
- 9:54Speaker 6: sent to players, these are definitely the coolest cool.
- 9:57Speaker 1: We had a lot of people say, oh, Caleb had
- 10:00Speaker 1: the hat already. They knew that they were going to
- 10:02Speaker 1: be picking up. But tell tell people, like what happens?
- 10:05Speaker 6: So you get sent all the hats, right, so you
- 10:07Speaker 6: get all thirty two and you can kind of sit
- 10:11Speaker 6: on some of the videos just had a table in
- 10:12Speaker 6: front of me had all the hats laid out, and
- 10:15Speaker 6: so once I got.
- 10:16Speaker 1: The call, we just grabbed the one.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Yes.
- 10:18Speaker 1: When you get that call, the room like rrupted, like
- 10:22Speaker 1: were you genuinely surprised? Like when you got it?
- 10:25Speaker 6: Like all the previous stuff I had with the Patriots
- 10:28Speaker 6: was all super good, and so I knew like, if
- 10:30Speaker 6: I was around for them, there was a good chance
- 10:32Speaker 6: I was gonna get picked by them, and I was,
- 10:34Speaker 6: you know, I was hoping for that, and so I
- 10:36Speaker 6: was kind of just talking about it earlier. The whole
- 10:38Speaker 6: trading up thing happened super fast, and so I got
- 10:42Speaker 6: the call not knowing who it was, and I found
- 10:43Speaker 6: out was the Patriots, And as soon as I hung
- 10:46Speaker 6: up on the phone, they were already announcing the pick,
- 10:48Speaker 6: and just like you said, everyone erupted it.
- 10:50Speaker 4: It was crazy.
- 10:50Speaker 1: It was started going crazy.
- 10:52Speaker 6: Yeah, you can see in the background and some of
- 10:53Speaker 6: the videos the commissioners walking up to announce me. And
- 10:57Speaker 6: so I didn't even see. I didn't even hear my
- 10:58Speaker 6: name get called with splashes suck. But there's three plays
- 11:04Speaker 6: and so we celebrate with everyone. Was definitely we'll get
- 11:06Speaker 6: it to you.
- 11:06Speaker 2: I wanted to bring you back to high school, go
- 11:08Speaker 2: all the way through here a little bit as coaching.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Talking to your coach Jim Harding the other day and
- 11:13Speaker 2: he said that he came to see you as a
- 11:15Speaker 2: high school junior. You're only two hundred and sixty five pounds. Now,
- 11:18Speaker 2: obviously you're a little bigger than that. So there's a
- 11:21Speaker 2: lot of wheedies like what went into developing your body
- 11:24Speaker 2: to this point.
- 11:25Speaker 6: Yeah, so in high school, definitely playing in Utah to
- 11:27Speaker 6: those Arizona sorry those summers, but it lose a lot
- 11:30Speaker 6: of weight just because it was so hot and all that.
- 11:32Speaker 6: So I was definitely a little smaller there when I
- 11:34Speaker 6: got to Utah. You know, I was coming my first
- 11:36Speaker 6: Wayne was sixty eight, so I was a lot smaller
- 11:39Speaker 6: than I just came in and I saw a lot
- 11:42Speaker 6: of you know, just other schools to a lot of
- 11:44Speaker 6: people putting on the way it's super fascinate kind of
- 11:47Speaker 6: putting it on the wrong way, and that kind of
- 11:49Speaker 6: affected him in the long run. So I didn't want
- 11:51Speaker 6: to do that. I took my time with it. You know,
- 11:53Speaker 6: all three years being there, I was putting on the weight.
- 11:56Speaker 6: And so as soon as I got there, I was
- 11:57Speaker 6: on breakfast club. I was on, you know, the extra
- 11:59Speaker 6: shake that they'd give after lift and all that. They
- 12:02Speaker 6: just put me on, you know everything, And so I
- 12:04Speaker 6: would a lot of eating, a lot of working out,
- 12:06Speaker 6: building muscle, and definitely a progression of weight.
- 12:09Speaker 2: The other cool thing that he told me was that
- 12:11Speaker 2: you would actually go to the coaches and ask for
- 12:13Speaker 2: cutups instead of them making cutups for you. They you
- 12:16Speaker 2: would want them to do for what do you look
- 12:18Speaker 2: for when you're watching the film? Like what are the
- 12:20Speaker 2: specific things that you wanted to look at?
- 12:22Speaker 6: Yeah, So Coach Harding, he he made that so easy
- 12:25Speaker 6: for us to come to him and ask for a cutup.
- 12:26Speaker 6: He said, you guys need anything, you know it, come
- 12:28Speaker 6: to me. I'll make it the cutup. And so every
- 12:30Speaker 6: time we needed something after I needed something, go and
- 12:33Speaker 6: ask him. Also our ga Isaac Osciata, they made it
- 12:36Speaker 6: super quick exactly what we needed. So that was such
- 12:38Speaker 6: a help and made it so easy. So that was awesome.
- 12:41Speaker 6: And then just whatever I needed, if it was just
- 12:44Speaker 6: past rush of you know, the player, or if it
- 12:46Speaker 6: was certain blitzes that they were doing, I was like, okay,
- 12:48Speaker 6: I don't really know anything that we needed, he would
- 12:51Speaker 6: make a cut up and so that just helps so
- 12:53Speaker 6: much because you're watching the specific thing that you know
- 12:55Speaker 6: you want to work on.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Caleb, you've been here all day.
- 12:58Speaker 8: I'm sure you've gotten to meet a lot of your
- 12:59Speaker 8: team mates over next door at the training facility. What
- 13:01Speaker 8: are some of your first impressions about the guys.
- 13:03Speaker 3: And Drake May?
- 13:04Speaker 6: Yeah, so I got what I was saying. I got
- 13:06Speaker 6: a lot of texts after you know, draft. They got
- 13:08Speaker 6: some from Will Campbell, Drake May and a lot of
- 13:10Speaker 6: other players, and so that was awesome.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I just missed a lot of them, like I came
- 13:14Speaker 1: and I.
- 13:14Speaker 6: Saw some leaving, but they ain't gonna meet a lot
- 13:16Speaker 6: of them, So hoping to meet them soon when they
- 13:19Speaker 6: come back.
- 13:19Speaker 1: But so far it's been all positive.
- 13:21Speaker 6: You know, a lot of the whys and girlfriends are
- 13:23Speaker 6: following my wife too on Instagram.
- 13:26Speaker 7: We're just and all that, and so everything's just super welcoming.
- 13:29Speaker 6: Already, know, we already feel at home, already feels so
- 13:31Speaker 6: welcomed of people texting us saying if you need anything
- 13:34Speaker 6: help with you know, finding a house, places to eat,
- 13:36Speaker 6: places to go, you know, just let us know. And
- 13:39Speaker 6: so it's been super, you know, awesome having those people,
- 13:42Speaker 6: and it's coming to help us.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I heard that Lineman rooms, it's a good room. Great,
- 13:45Speaker 1: you're gonna have a lot of fun with these guys. Yeah, yeah,
- 13:48Speaker 1: they really they're yeah, be careful. Yeah I know that. Yeah,
- 13:53Speaker 1: that's uh. Yeah, we talked a little bit about that.
- 13:55Speaker 1: It's gonna be yeah that they can do that. But
- 13:58Speaker 1: they they get along really well. You're gonna you're going
- 14:00Speaker 1: to really enjoy it. You're gonna get along fine. Yep.
- 14:03Speaker 8: We got to ask you about I know the media
- 14:05Speaker 8: asked you about your Draft day dancing video.
- 14:08Speaker 3: You you have some moves, but I also saw.
- 14:10Speaker 8: Your wife upload a video of you singing before you left.
- 14:13Speaker 3: I'm not gonna lie. You weren't bad. You were pretty good.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Are you very musically inclined?
- 14:18Speaker 1: No?
- 14:20Speaker 6: So I love singing in the car, you know, all
- 14:22Speaker 6: sing in the car. I saw her filming, didn't think
- 14:25Speaker 6: she was gonna post it, but I know she She
- 14:27Speaker 6: ended up posting it, which you know, I don't really care.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I was just I was singing. I'll sing in the car.
- 14:34Speaker 6: Exactly, And so I love to sing in the car,
- 14:37Speaker 6: just sing. I know I'm not good, but I still,
- 14:39Speaker 6: you know, I like to do it. On occasion, and
- 14:41Speaker 6: so yeah, she was. I saw her filming, so I
- 14:44Speaker 6: was singing to her. But then she she posted.
- 14:46Speaker 8: That oh boy, okay, quite the romantic because you took
- 14:48Speaker 8: your wife, I think if I saw correctly, well, you
- 14:51Speaker 8: didn't take her. You met her in France when she
- 14:53Speaker 8: was studying abroad to propose them.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Do I have that right?
- 14:55Speaker 6: And so she yeah, she went on to study broad
- 14:57Speaker 6: for Utah Inice, France. And so I mean, I've never
- 15:01Speaker 6: I've only been to Mexico the country, and so I
- 15:03Speaker 6: was like, you know, let's I'll come visit.
- 15:05Speaker 1: You don't make a little trip out of it. And
- 15:06Speaker 1: so I she was in Nice, France.
- 15:08Speaker 6: I met her in London, so I flew there and
- 15:10Speaker 6: then she took a train there. So we went to London,
- 15:13Speaker 6: I went to France and then went back to to
- 15:16Speaker 6: where she was staying in Nice. And then the whole
- 15:20Speaker 6: proposing thing was very stressful. You know, I was by myself, traveling,
- 15:24Speaker 6: traveling with the ring. That was stressful. Yeah, I wanted
- 15:26Speaker 6: to lose that. And then you know, we went to
- 15:29Speaker 6: this city a little like an hour called Menton, and
- 15:34Speaker 6: that's where I proposed. I was, you know, during school
- 15:36Speaker 6: leading Up to that, I was, you know, typing in
- 15:38Speaker 6: photographers places to propose pro I wasn't paying attention in
- 15:41Speaker 6: class slocks. I was trying to figure that out. But
- 15:43Speaker 6: I was able to find this one lady that took
- 15:46Speaker 6: pictures there and was talking with her and she you know,
- 15:49Speaker 6: there's a great place.
- 15:50Speaker 1: She said, I did it on a rock, and I
- 15:52Speaker 1: was like, I text her.
- 15:53Speaker 6: I was like, I'm a I'm a big guy, like,
- 15:54Speaker 6: I don't know if I want to found the rocks, like,
- 15:56Speaker 6: don't worry, there's a bigger rock that you can do
- 15:57Speaker 6: it on it.
- 15:58Speaker 1: So that is where I did old school. Did you
- 16:00Speaker 1: like talk to her father beforehand?
- 16:02Speaker 6: I did, so I talked to I took both her
- 16:05Speaker 6: father and mom out to lunch.
- 16:07Speaker 7: Ye just talk with them. That might have been more
- 16:09Speaker 7: stressful than the actual.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Oh, I can only imagine.
- 16:13Speaker 6: I knew they would say yes, but you know there's
- 16:15Speaker 6: in back in when I was like, okay, I don't know,
- 16:17Speaker 6: and so, you know, took them out to lunch, but
- 16:19Speaker 6: you know they're they're the best.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Talk to them.
- 16:20Speaker 7: The father gave me a lot of great advice and.
- 16:23Speaker 6: With the mom and so it was a great talk,
- 16:25Speaker 6: very stressful at first, trying to bringing up that conversation.
- 16:28Speaker 7: But you know, once you guys started going, they was.
- 16:31Speaker 1: So was she excited about like is she going to
- 16:33Speaker 1: move up here now? And you know you're gonna like
- 16:36Speaker 1: buy a place or rent a place? What are you
- 16:38Speaker 1: going to you know? Yeah, so that's a plan.
- 16:39Speaker 6: She knows she's coming up, not sure exactly when, but
- 16:42Speaker 6: she'll come up rent for the first year and then
- 16:45Speaker 6: we'll hopefully buy next year. Kind of just finding a
- 16:48Speaker 6: place to where we want to settle in.
- 16:50Speaker 1: So has she is she familiar with the area.
- 16:52Speaker 6: Oh wow, But it's weird because she wanted to be
- 16:55Speaker 6: here though she didn't want to be here because no, uh,
- 16:59Speaker 6: she loved you know, she's seen so much about it.
- 17:01Speaker 1: She loved how the team was. You know, she was.
- 17:05Speaker 6: Followed along with the Patriots like a good amount, and
- 17:07Speaker 6: so she she wanted to come here. But she's been
- 17:10Speaker 6: you know, on Zillow looking for looking for places and
- 17:13Speaker 6: all that.
- 17:14Speaker 1: What the plan is for you to be here a
- 17:15Speaker 1: long time plan.
- 17:16Speaker 9: Kids, good, good schools, good hospitals, exactly place to.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Raise kids and underrated golf.
- 17:25Speaker 1: You're a golfer, a golfer, Yeah.
- 17:27Speaker 3: I gotta know what's your carry?
- 17:28Speaker 8: Like, I feel like you can just bomb it off
- 17:30Speaker 8: the tee.
- 17:31Speaker 1: The t I can hit it pretty good.
- 17:32Speaker 6: I can get a carry, I can get like three
- 17:35Speaker 6: twenty off on that before.
- 17:36Speaker 1: But I can chew anywhere.
- 17:38Speaker 6: You know, I could be really good or I could
- 17:40Speaker 6: very well be terrible.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Like all of us.
- 17:43Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly, and so I can you know, I can
- 17:46Speaker 6: ask some good days and but majority of the days
- 17:48Speaker 6: it's it's not. But I've heard there's some decent golf
- 17:50Speaker 6: out here, and oh yeah, definitely be able to when
- 17:53Speaker 6: it's not raining and snowing, to be able to get
- 17:55Speaker 6: out and go play.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you gotta get out there with Drake.
- 17:57Speaker 6: He's yeah, I'm just saying I saw a video of
- 17:59Speaker 6: him swinging and he looked pretty good.
- 18:01Speaker 8: So and Bryce too. We went out with Bryce Baringer
- 18:05Speaker 8: last year. He was trying to qualify for the Mass Sammiturs.
- 18:08Speaker 8: So you got some good golfers on them.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I'm sure there's plenty on the team.
- 18:10Speaker 6: You know, there's a lot of people who don't really
- 18:11Speaker 6: talk about it, but secretly just I'm rare good at golf.
- 18:15Speaker 1: So if there was another sport that you could play,
- 18:17Speaker 1: what would your choice be? Golf would definitely be one
- 18:20Speaker 1: of them.
- 18:20Speaker 6: I think golf would be the one where I'm like,
- 18:23Speaker 6: I love like the you know, football is my sport.
- 18:26Speaker 6: The individual sports were fun though, because it's like, all right,
- 18:28Speaker 6: if I mess up, then you know, screw. It's kind
- 18:30Speaker 6: of the same thing for you know, football, if I
- 18:32Speaker 6: mess up affects the whole team. But now like in
- 18:34Speaker 6: those individual sports, if you messed up, like it's it's
- 18:36Speaker 6: just there's no one there to save you, you know, right.
- 18:38Speaker 6: And so I always say I did wrestling in junior
- 18:41Speaker 6: high as well, and so golf golf is healthy the
- 18:43Speaker 6: sport I would because it's something you can play till
- 18:45Speaker 6: you're Everybody wants me to talk to you about wrestling
- 18:47Speaker 6: because I wrestled in college and you know, I wrestled
- 18:50Speaker 6: for a guy who was Jim Peckham, was in the
- 18:53Speaker 6: college Wrestling Hall of Fame and so awesome.
- 18:56Speaker 1: They're like, oh, you should come in with your single
- 18:57Speaker 1: and I'm like, no, no, I'm not gonna.
- 18:59Speaker 3: I need it to see that.
- 19:00Speaker 6: Luckily, in junior high we had shorts and as sure,
- 19:03Speaker 6: and then my last year we transition to the seinglets.
- 19:07Speaker 1: But with the wrestling, how has that helped you as
- 19:11Speaker 1: a tackle.
- 19:12Speaker 6: Well, the thing about I loved wrestling because it was
- 19:15Speaker 6: you know, it's just you and the other guy, and
- 19:17Speaker 6: just like an offensive lineman, he has a move and
- 19:20Speaker 6: I have. It's really I would a lot of times
- 19:22Speaker 6: I'll play defense. So he knows moves he's gonna try
- 19:25Speaker 6: and do a defensive vent. He has moved every defensilignment,
- 19:28Speaker 6: knows the move they're going to do.
- 19:29Speaker 1: First.
- 19:29Speaker 6: You know, it's my job to you know, counter them
- 19:32Speaker 6: and either take that away immediately or kind of react
- 19:35Speaker 6: to it.
- 19:35Speaker 7: Until wrestling, that helped me a lot to be.
- 19:37Speaker 6: Able to read, you know, moves move that if he
- 19:39Speaker 6: was gonna shoot in quick, I'll be able to sprawl
- 19:42Speaker 6: get around him and all that. And so I helped
- 19:43Speaker 6: Steff Hill with like my reaction time and you know,
- 19:45Speaker 6: thinking quick, reacting quick off you know a certain move
- 19:48Speaker 6: that he would do. So there's a lot of little
- 19:50Speaker 6: things that there's a lot of legal things that you
- 19:53Speaker 6: wouldn't be able to do in football they do in wrestling.
- 19:55Speaker 6: They're picking them up and throwing them. You can't really
- 19:56Speaker 6: do that. But just the little aspect of you know,
- 19:59Speaker 6: the moves that they have, reading, reacting, and then being
- 20:02Speaker 6: able to just overpower him. Yeah, the same thing. Yeah, yeah,
- 20:05Speaker 6: exactly right.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Yep, you and gay back as they're going to have
- 20:08Speaker 2: some good wrestling matches. I'm sure he's a pretty good
- 20:11Speaker 2: wrestling he yeah, yeah, he wrestled. I think he's a
- 20:14Speaker 2: state champ really in high school, so you can, guys
- 20:17Speaker 2: can square.
- 20:18Speaker 6: I was a state champion junior high but it was
- 20:19Speaker 6: a little private school, so not much competition.
- 20:23Speaker 2: But I still claim it. There you got state champ.
- 20:26Speaker 2: He had to get one run play called what is it?
- 20:30Speaker 2: Outside zone power?
- 20:32Speaker 1: What do we call him? Now?
- 20:33Speaker 6: I love some being able to get in space and
- 20:35Speaker 6: so you know some pin polls, I love love doing that.
- 20:37Speaker 6: So outside zone, you know, I also love just being
- 20:40Speaker 6: able to you know, run off the ball, cut the
- 20:42Speaker 6: guy off, and do all that. But no opportunity to
- 20:44Speaker 6: be able to pull out in space I love doing.
- 20:47Speaker 7: And so there's this one play not a utah where pin.
- 20:50Speaker 6: Poll action tight end would come down, pin him down,
- 20:52Speaker 6: I would pull around and go get the corner.
- 20:54Speaker 1: So anything like that, you know, I love doing.
- 20:56Speaker 6: And then you know just basic football, you know, inside zone,
- 20:59Speaker 6: dual football, moving guy from pointing to point B to
- 21:02Speaker 6: the second level making that hole from running back.
- 21:04Speaker 7: That's total fashion football right there.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Who's a pro lineman? You can watch his tape all day.
- 21:10Speaker 6: You know, there's a few. You know, I love pay School,
- 21:13Speaker 6: especially watching him in the run game. He's very talented
- 21:15Speaker 6: and what he does. He's a no maller, not being
- 21:19Speaker 6: on the pantry. No, I love watching those tackles, you know,
- 21:21Speaker 6: Moses and Will Campbell, Will Campbell being a rookie last year,
- 21:24Speaker 6: being able to watch him kind of just knowing I'm
- 21:26Speaker 6: going to go through that same experience, you know, him
- 21:28Speaker 6: getting here. Uh but uh and then just a rookie,
- 21:31Speaker 6: you know, very right tackle has been able to watch him.
- 21:34Speaker 6: So many guys great around the league. Former Utah player
- 21:37Speaker 6: Gary Bowls have been able to watch him. You know,
- 21:39Speaker 6: he was He's a great player as well. So there's
- 21:41Speaker 6: just so many guys I'm able to watch him.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Do you feel like you mentioned Garrett, I've heard that
- 21:45Speaker 2: comparison to you a couple of times, just because of
- 21:48Speaker 2: the Utah connection. Do you do you see that at all?
- 21:50Speaker 2: And what do you like about his game?
- 21:52Speaker 6: No, he's you know, he's got a lot of games
- 21:55Speaker 6: without a sack, giving up his sack so he's a
- 21:56Speaker 6: very he's a technician and what he does, and so
- 22:00Speaker 6: I love that about him. If you know who he is,
- 22:02Speaker 6: or if you've met him and been around him, you
- 22:04Speaker 6: know that's the type of guy he is.
- 22:06Speaker 7: Like he very.
- 22:07Speaker 6: He has a team and he you know, very big
- 22:10Speaker 6: team that always supports him, and he knows what he wants.
- 22:13Speaker 6: He knows like what he needs to do to you know,
- 22:15Speaker 6: keep his body right, what he needs to do throughout
- 22:17Speaker 6: the week to make him play the best of his ability.
- 22:19Speaker 6: And so that's what I've taken away in love from
- 22:21Speaker 6: him because he's he's very consistent in what he does.
- 22:23Speaker 6: And as an Offenseliman or just football player in general,
- 22:26Speaker 6: that's what you need to be consistent everything that you do.
- 22:29Speaker 1: All right, Well, listen, we know that you got a
- 22:30Speaker 1: lot more to do today. The car washer isn't done.
- 22:33Speaker 1: But we appreciate you taking care time for us. Appreciate
- 22:35Speaker 1: you guys having me. All right, Caleb Lomo, everybody, Patriots
- 22:40Speaker 1: first round pick. All right? That was Caleblomo stopping by
- 22:46Speaker 1: on Thursday. Thanks to him, and you know, pr was
- 22:49Speaker 1: in the background going to wrap it up. We could
- 22:51Speaker 1: have gone out forever. He was nice you know, sometimes
- 22:54Speaker 1: you get the body language like yeah, I want to go,
- 22:56Speaker 1: But he was happy to sit there and he would
- 22:59Speaker 1: have sat and talked with us for as long as
- 23:01Speaker 1: we wanted.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Yeah, one of the better ones that we've done since
- 23:04Speaker 2: I've been here. I would say, just in terms of,
- 23:06Speaker 2: you know, I just wanted to have a conversation like
- 23:10Speaker 2: it wasn't very well. That helped, but it wasn't. It
- 23:16Speaker 2: wasn't like it didn't feel like I asked a question
- 23:18Speaker 2: he answers. There's a little bit of a back and
- 23:20Speaker 2: forth in a conversation there.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Well, we're trying to take in the Jerry maddle On training,
- 23:25Speaker 1: you know, to get those offerings you know.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Yeah, you had one with the hat that was that
- 23:29Speaker 2: was very right.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go. All right, So I think he's
- 23:34Speaker 1: gonna fit in fine with the lineman and excited about that.
- 23:39Speaker 10: Uh.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Jason la Confora had a tweet today that I we
- 23:43Speaker 1: saw you that I thought we weren't supposed to do
- 23:46Speaker 1: that stuff. Well listen, I mean I did. I didn't
- 23:48Speaker 1: really say much. I just said, you know, let's I
- 23:52Speaker 1: just offer this for everyone's consumption, and I you know,
- 23:55Speaker 1: but he's saying that analysts. You know, the experts is
- 23:58Speaker 1: saying there's going to be a maze regression for the
- 24:01Speaker 1: Patriots this year.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Well that's relative, right, My major regression from fourteen men
- 24:07Speaker 2: rights might mean what and seven? Right? Or eight wins
- 24:12Speaker 2: or nine when I don't know. I mean, that's not
- 24:14Speaker 2: saying that they're going to go back to four and thirteen.
- 24:17Speaker 2: But it's definitely a tougher schedule. Maybe not as tough
- 24:21Speaker 2: as you hear from some people, but tougher for sure.
- 24:25Speaker 2: And you know, it's only natural that there might be
- 24:29Speaker 2: some regression. But yeah, there's other teams that have gotten
- 24:32Speaker 2: to this the point that Patriots were at or similar
- 24:35Speaker 2: and then they use that as a stepping stone and
- 24:37Speaker 2: you know, like the Detroit Lions, they're never bad again.
- 24:39Speaker 1: You know, they're certainly you know, there's been a lot
- 24:42Speaker 1: of teams that lose the super Bowl and just kind
- 24:45Speaker 1: of really have a bad year the next year. I
- 24:47Speaker 1: look at this, the Chargers of the year that they
- 24:49Speaker 1: lost to the forty nine ers, I think in the
- 24:51Speaker 1: super Bowl. I forget who they.
- 24:54Speaker 4: Lost to, but they the super Bowl loser rarely makes
- 24:57Speaker 4: the playoffs.
- 24:57Speaker 2: The fall up right year, right, even the pay Treots
- 25:00Speaker 2: didn't make the playoffs one year after they the year
- 25:03Speaker 2: that Brady towards AC.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Yeah, so there's a huge asterisk.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Oh, I thought you were talking about O one.
- 25:08Speaker 4: Oh that's true.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean I think that.
- 25:13Speaker 4: Comparison, but the one Patriots won the super Bowl?
- 25:16Speaker 2: Sure? That fair? Yeah? That that has mitigated itself a
- 25:20Speaker 2: little bit in recent years, like the Eagles lost the
- 25:23Speaker 2: super Bowl and then won the very next year.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:26Speaker 5: Even Kansas City lost the super Bowl and then for
- 25:28Speaker 5: the first time in forever didn't make the playoffs last year.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so. Is it fair to say that
- 25:36Speaker 1: recently or you know, in the last twenty years, in
- 25:38Speaker 1: order to make the super Bowl, not not just whin it,
- 25:41Speaker 1: but to make it, you need to be a pretty
- 25:43Speaker 1: solid team. You can't be a fluke and make the
- 25:46Speaker 1: super Bowl in the NFL anymore.
- 25:48Speaker 4: I don't know about that.
- 25:48Speaker 1: You don't know about that.
- 25:50Speaker 4: I don't know about that.
- 25:51Speaker 1: I think in other words, if you make the super Bowl,
- 25:53Speaker 1: you've got a decent play.
- 25:55Speaker 4: A little bit.
- 25:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I think there's probably a lot of
- 26:00Speaker 5: teams that are sort of capable of making the playoffs
- 26:03Speaker 5: that are in kind of a similar basket and then
- 26:07Speaker 5: you know, health spot health of the opponent, whether the
- 26:14Speaker 5: other team's quarterback doesn't play in the conference championship.
- 26:17Speaker 2: These kinds of factors can kind of put a team
- 26:20Speaker 2: over the top. Yeah, like they could be some flukiness. Yeah,
- 26:24Speaker 2: I mean the last one especially was Yeah, I mean,
- 26:26Speaker 2: like I'm.
- 26:27Speaker 5: Not like, honestly, that wasn't meant to be a Paul snarkism.
- 26:30Speaker 5: I don't want to come out just I don't want
- 26:31Speaker 5: to come right out of the shoots with it the snark.
- 26:35Speaker 5: But I do think like in recent years, Fred, to
- 26:40Speaker 5: your point, you know, Kansas City, San Francisco, Philadelphia, those
- 26:45Speaker 5: teams have been consistently pretty good. Yeah, you know, those
- 26:48Speaker 5: are the teams that have been in the Super Bowl.
- 26:50Speaker 2: There's definitely a better recently.
- 26:52Speaker 4: Cincinnati went to the Super Bowl and then.
- 26:54Speaker 2: You know, well they went back to the AFC title game.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, one year later they haven't been back
- 26:59Speaker 4: to the playoffs.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, there's been a little bit of a better
- 27:02Speaker 2: history of it recently. Like I would say, from like
- 27:06Speaker 2: nineteen eighty to two thousand, it was horrible like that.
- 27:09Speaker 2: That was really when it was like the Super Bowl hangover.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Things sort of became a mythology and all that kind
- 27:15Speaker 2: of stuff. Last you know, I would say five to
- 27:17Speaker 2: ten years it's been better, you know, not necessarily losing
- 27:21Speaker 2: the Super Bowl and then going and winning it, but
- 27:23Speaker 2: losing it and not falling off a cliff the next
- 27:26Speaker 2: year has been a little bit better. But I think
- 27:28Speaker 2: a lot of those teams have the same thing in
- 27:30Speaker 2: common where they were like a younger team to begin
- 27:33Speaker 2: with and maybe got some breaks to get there in
- 27:35Speaker 2: the first place, and then you have you know, you're
- 27:38Speaker 2: not going to fall off a cliff a cliff completely
- 27:40Speaker 2: when you have Joe Burrow as your quarterback, Like if
- 27:42Speaker 2: he's healthy, you're going to be pretty good. You know,
- 27:45Speaker 2: the Eagles had a great roster, lost the first time,
- 27:47Speaker 2: won the second time, you know, that sort of thing.
- 27:50Speaker 2: So maybe a little bit of hope there in terms
- 27:53Speaker 2: of recent history.
- 27:53Speaker 1: So other than wow, Drake may looks mentally even better
- 27:58Speaker 1: this summer than he did last. What are indicators before
- 28:03Speaker 1: the season starts, the regular season starts that you will
- 28:06Speaker 1: need to see in order for you to say they're
- 28:09Speaker 1: going to be at least as competitive. I'm not saying
- 28:11Speaker 1: they'll go to the super Bowl, but at least as
- 28:13Speaker 1: a team they'll be as competitive as they were last year.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Trading for Aj Brown.
- 28:19Speaker 1: That's gonna happen. I mean wanting to Jim Murray, he's
- 28:22Speaker 1: tweeting out that he's talking to rental property.
- 28:25Speaker 2: If that happens, then I think you feel pretty good
- 28:27Speaker 2: about them being good again. I don't know in terms
- 28:30Speaker 2: of like, well you see at practice, I'm not sure
- 28:33Speaker 2: you will.
- 28:33Speaker 1: So is there anything you say I won't be able
- 28:36Speaker 1: to tell until five weeks into the season.
- 28:37Speaker 2: I'm not saying I won't be able to tell. I
- 28:39Speaker 2: guess more just like you know, some of the concerns
- 28:43Speaker 2: are more about what's going to happen in season with
- 28:45Speaker 2: attrition than they are about you know, do they have
- 28:47Speaker 2: the talent.
- 28:48Speaker 4: That's a great point to be a good team.
- 28:50Speaker 2: You know, people get hurt in certain places.
- 28:53Speaker 5: And that's why I said, and I didn't. I was
- 28:55Speaker 5: being honest. I'm not trying to be snarky. They you know,
- 28:59Speaker 5: that's why it and be kind of fluky is all
- 29:02Speaker 5: of a sudden the following year, Like we mentioned Cincinnati
- 29:05Speaker 5: two seconds ago. Yeah, like they didn't just fall apart.
- 29:09Speaker 5: Their quarterback has had a hard time staying healthy in
- 29:12Speaker 5: recent seasons and it's affected their one lost record.
- 29:16Speaker 4: Those kinds of things can happen.
- 29:17Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it doesn't mean that you're not I
- 29:20Speaker 5: think so, Like, I don't know, in practice at training camp,
- 29:23Speaker 5: I can say, like, boy, Drake May really looks like
- 29:26Speaker 5: he's even better than like, I don't know if I'm
- 29:28Speaker 5: going to notice that in practice?
- 29:29Speaker 1: What if? What if? And again health, I always exclude
- 29:33Speaker 1: health because that's.
- 29:34Speaker 4: The like what is he going to be?
- 29:37Speaker 1: Like, well, what if you see in practice, like, oh
- 29:39Speaker 1: my god, he and AJ Brown like they are hooking
- 29:43Speaker 1: up and it really looks like Dobbs is fitting in,
- 29:47Speaker 1: and like if you see, like, are those the kind
- 29:50Speaker 1: of things that you might see in spring that would
- 29:52Speaker 1: you would be confident to say this is the kind
- 29:55Speaker 1: of thing that leads to a good season.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Maybe yeah. I mean, like, see, if you have a
- 30:00Speaker 2: J Brown and Romeo Dobbs on the team and they're
- 30:03Speaker 2: lighting up practice with both of those guys catching passes
- 30:06Speaker 2: from Drake May, then that's gonna feel good. You're gonna
- 30:09Speaker 2: feel optimistic until they have a team that they're playing though,
- 30:12Speaker 2: Like on the other side, whether it's a joint practice
- 30:14Speaker 2: or a real.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Game, they will have two of those.
- 30:16Speaker 5: And I'm gonna, Yeah, I'm gonna be the ultimate fraud
- 30:19Speaker 5: because I'm going to tell you that as we're going
- 30:22Speaker 5: to a training camp and we're talking about this stuff
- 30:24Speaker 5: every day, and Evan and I are gonna be with
- 30:26Speaker 5: Mike and we're gonna do our podcast, our training camp podcast.
- 30:28Speaker 2: My favorite things we did, We're gonna be talking about
- 30:30Speaker 2: this is unbelievable.
- 30:32Speaker 4: This rapport is developing. But with May and b I
- 30:35Speaker 4: don't think it matters.
- 30:36Speaker 5: But I'm gonna tell you it matters from when when
- 30:38Speaker 5: we're doing it every day, that don't until you see
- 30:42Speaker 5: them doing against other teams.
- 30:44Speaker 2: I would say that stuff matters a little bit more
- 30:46Speaker 2: than like, uh, you know, Eli Raridan is like tearing
- 30:50Speaker 2: up practice like that when like you have a rookie
- 30:53Speaker 2: or a back end of the roster guy oh Fton
- 30:55Speaker 2: Chisholm looks like he's taking another step right or whatever
- 30:59Speaker 2: like that type of stuff. I think we get to
- 31:02Speaker 2: the regular season and the guys you expected to play
- 31:05Speaker 2: kind of play and the other.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Guy, I mean, you know, and again, preseason games and
- 31:10Speaker 1: practices rarely, you know, are they always really good indicators.
- 31:16Speaker 1: But you know the year that Randy Moss came, it
- 31:17Speaker 1: was it looked different and.
- 31:19Speaker 4: He didn't even practice.
- 31:20Speaker 1: But no, but the short time that he was in practice,
- 31:23Speaker 1: you could tell, Oh my god.
- 31:25Speaker 4: That's why it was.
- 31:26Speaker 2: That's kind of actually my whole point of why I
- 31:28Speaker 2: don't think it's all that important.
- 31:29Speaker 4: Like he didn't do anything, and then what do.
- 31:32Speaker 2: You mean day he caught like nine thousand, No, but
- 31:35Speaker 2: you touch that, we saw it.
- 31:36Speaker 4: The short time that he did practice, we could tell.
- 31:39Speaker 1: And then the year that they got absolutely demolished by
- 31:43Speaker 1: the Eagles in that joint practice, it turns out that
- 31:47Speaker 1: was a guy.
- 31:48Speaker 4: Do you think his value in the joint practice?
- 31:49Speaker 5: You know that if you see stuff against again, you
- 31:52Speaker 5: won't know until you see it against another team, Right.
- 31:54Speaker 4: I didn't think the practice tells you something.
- 31:56Speaker 2: The guys that you're projecting to be starters and be
- 31:59Speaker 2: frontline players, those guys, I don't know how much you're
- 32:03Speaker 2: really going to tell. In the summer. There's always like
- 32:06Speaker 2: the Efton Chisholms who make those roster pushes and you
- 32:09Speaker 2: get into the season and he's inactive for ninety percent
- 32:11Speaker 2: of the games, right, Like, that's the type of stuff
- 32:13Speaker 2: that I would say. We probably talk about a lot
- 32:16Speaker 2: in the in the media that ends up not necessarily
- 32:19Speaker 2: mattering once the real game.
- 32:21Speaker 5: Why I said, I'm going to be upfront and say
- 32:23Speaker 5: I'm going to be a fraud about this because it
- 32:25Speaker 5: is important. All summer when we're out there every day,
- 32:28Speaker 5: we're telling you what we see every day, and we
- 32:30Speaker 5: are going.
- 32:31Speaker 4: To talk about these things.
- 32:32Speaker 5: And they you know that, you know, on Tuesday, July
- 32:36Speaker 5: you know, twenty ninth, or whatever the date happens to be,
- 32:40Speaker 5: if aj Brown is, you know, creating separation all over
- 32:43Speaker 5: the field, we're going to tell you he looks good,
- 32:45Speaker 5: he's moving well, appears to be picking up the offense quickly,
- 32:48Speaker 5: stuff like that.
- 32:49Speaker 4: That and they'll be value in that.
- 32:51Speaker 5: Again, I don't know how much value until I see
- 32:54Speaker 5: him do it in the regular season against real teams.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Yeah, And I would say, like two at the tackles,
- 32:58Speaker 2: like Will Campbell, you worry a tiny bit about Okay,
- 33:03Speaker 2: Will Campbell's had a great summer, but it's because the
- 33:06Speaker 2: Patriots edge rushers aren't really all that great, right, And
- 33:09Speaker 2: then he gets into a game against a team with
- 33:11Speaker 2: really good edg rushers and he faces you know whoever
- 33:14Speaker 2: they play Seattle, and they you know, he gets beat
- 33:17Speaker 2: by Seattle again and then it's like, okay, well was
- 33:20Speaker 2: that more about what he was going up against in practice?
- 33:23Speaker 2: And I think we saw it. We've seen that at
- 33:25Speaker 2: different times. I remember there was one summer where it
- 33:28Speaker 2: might have been uh drawn Mayo's yard where Mike on
- 33:31Speaker 2: Wnhu went on like an insane, unbeaten streak in one
- 33:34Speaker 2: on ones he was like nineteen or twenty and oh
- 33:37Speaker 2: out of the gate and one on ones it turned
- 33:39Speaker 2: out that their detackles just weren't very good.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Good.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Now this is the everst problem.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Like now they have Milton Williams and Christian Barmore, so
- 33:47Speaker 2: that those guys are good, but you know, the edg Rushers,
- 33:49Speaker 2: you're only going up against the guys that are on
- 33:51Speaker 2: your current team. So like are they you know, are
- 33:54Speaker 2: these guys really that good or are they just not
- 33:57Speaker 2: really facing guys that are very good?
- 34:00Speaker 1: So all right, but that you know, I'm gonna be
- 34:03Speaker 1: watching closely. We'll all be watching closely for those little
- 34:06Speaker 1: signs that wow, there might be something going on good
- 34:10Speaker 1: or bad.
- 34:11Speaker 5: Vera Vera Tucker at left guard, you know, just his presence,
- 34:16Speaker 5: like being in the lineup every day, like Morgan Moses
- 34:19Speaker 5: is probably going to be on some sort of a program.
- 34:22Speaker 5: What does it look like at left guard? And then
- 34:25Speaker 5: in turn, what does Jared Wilson look like at center? Yep,
- 34:27Speaker 5: you know he's a little thing. And again that might
- 34:30Speaker 5: be a little bit more subtlety because its offensive line
- 34:32Speaker 5: play when not necessarily breaking it down the way we
- 34:34Speaker 5: would a receiver's production. But are they out there? Are
- 34:38Speaker 5: they taking all the reps all the time? That means
- 34:41Speaker 5: they're healthy, ready to go up to speed?
- 34:45Speaker 1: Good?
- 34:46Speaker 4: Those will all be good signs.
- 34:47Speaker 1: You're worried.
- 34:48Speaker 2: No, I wonder if he's gonna be on some sort
- 34:51Speaker 2: of program the week get sounded. It hasn't worked for
- 34:54Speaker 2: him to stay healthy for four or five years in
- 34:56Speaker 2: the NFL. You know, maybe Frank Perino and that staff
- 35:00Speaker 2: we have here have a different approach that can keep
- 35:02Speaker 2: him healthier.
- 35:03Speaker 1: I think, well, here's my tip, here's my advice to
- 35:07Speaker 1: whether it's Frank or anyone else on the team. Whatever
- 35:09Speaker 1: the Jets did do the opposite.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Well, I think that that goes without saying. But they also,
- 35:15Speaker 2: you know, who knows why if there is a reason why,
- 35:18Speaker 2: But they've had a good track record of these pitch counts. Working,
- 35:23Speaker 2: you know, worked last year for Morgan Moses, but there
- 35:25Speaker 2: are also other guys on the roster that were more
- 35:27Speaker 2: veteran players, Like we didn't always see Hunter Henry you know,
- 35:30Speaker 2: take every single rep, and we didn't always see some
- 35:33Speaker 2: guys like that take every single rep. And it did
- 35:35Speaker 2: seem to Harold Andry, you know, like for the most part,
- 35:39Speaker 2: it worked going into the season. So hopefully they can
- 35:42Speaker 2: figure out things like that. But you know, with aj Brown,
- 35:45Speaker 2: like if he's here, you know, Diggs looked like he
- 35:48Speaker 2: was different when he was practicing too now that he
- 35:51Speaker 2: would kind of turn it on and off. Ye Like
- 35:53Speaker 2: there were times where he'd kind of coast in practice
- 35:56Speaker 2: because he doesn't really need to be one hundred percent
- 35:59Speaker 2: till all the time. But what he felt like, oh,
- 36:02Speaker 2: this is a day that I'm I'm gonna we're gonna
- 36:05Speaker 2: come out here and we're gonna put on a show.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Especially when we were in Minnesota for those joint practices
- 36:10Speaker 2: because it was his old team. He went out there
- 36:12Speaker 2: on the first day and nobody could cover him. I mean,
- 36:15Speaker 2: he was he was creating like yards of separation and
- 36:18Speaker 2: that was like, Okay, we haven't seen this in a
- 36:21Speaker 2: Patriot uniform in a while. You know, you don't normally
- 36:24Speaker 2: see that here. So there are little things like that
- 36:26Speaker 2: with a player of AJ Brown's caliber that you can see.
- 36:29Speaker 1: All right, eight five five Pats five hundred is the
- 36:32Speaker 1: hotline podcast at Patriots dot com is the email address.
- 36:36Speaker 1: So it's all on the table. It's an off season program,
- 36:39Speaker 1: so we'll talk Patriots. Or if you want to follow
- 36:41Speaker 1: up from Thursday's epic show that Paul wasn't at, we
- 36:45Speaker 1: can talk about that. Paul has any questions, I think.
- 36:48Speaker 1: So Paul was in Italia. We're going to talk about
- 36:52Speaker 1: that as well, probably after the break, but we'll get
- 36:55Speaker 1: into it all.
- 36:56Speaker 11: We don't have to why not, I mean we want
- 36:59Speaker 11: to talk about People are overly interested in I mean, oh,
- 37:02Speaker 11: absolutely fascinated about your you know, constructive time time.
- 37:07Speaker 1: I think people are interested in your take on on
- 37:10Speaker 1: Italy absolutely.
- 37:12Speaker 5: As you went to Florence, went to Rome in all
- 37:14Speaker 5: serious is. One of the very first things I saw
- 37:16Speaker 5: was a Parlo bus tour.
- 37:18Speaker 1: There you go. You got your now yeah, herms in
- 37:23Speaker 1: d C. What's up?
- 37:24Speaker 12: Herm?
- 37:26Speaker 13: Hey, what's going on?
- 37:27Speaker 1: Gentlemen? Hey?
- 37:29Speaker 13: I hope you had a good vacation.
- 37:30Speaker 4: Paul I did thank you for question.
- 37:34Speaker 13: Yeah, of course, So quick question for y'all and to
- 37:38Speaker 13: take it off there. So obviously Aged Brown led the
- 37:44Speaker 13: team and reception led the team. In your ards and
- 37:47Speaker 13: and all that he won, and you might have talked
- 37:50Speaker 13: about it before and obviously he wanted to and all that.
- 37:52Speaker 13: So my question to you all is this, if you
- 37:55Speaker 13: were to get traded to us, right, what would get.
- 38:00Speaker 4: And see that? I mean he'll be happy?
- 38:02Speaker 13: Because ultimately, if I was a receiver and Olivia team
- 38:06Speaker 13: reception an Olivid team and yards and I win the
- 38:10Speaker 13: Super Bowl, I couldn't I mean, I couldn't understand why I.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Would not be happy.
- 38:15Speaker 13: So my question is, I mean, what would if you
- 38:19Speaker 13: got the confidence they will be happy here? Yes, obviously
- 38:21Speaker 13: be reading out with coach Rabel, but from a football standpoint,
- 38:26Speaker 13: I don't see what the issue was. That's kind of
- 38:28Speaker 13: like my personal hesitation on you know, obviously the talent.
- 38:34Speaker 4: Is is what's your question? No, it's a good question.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Why why is he going to be happy here?
- 38:39Speaker 5: If he hasn't been happy and seemingly from afar a
- 38:42Speaker 5: pretty good situation.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Well, I would just say, okays, my take on that
- 38:47Speaker 2: is purely a take. I have not talked to A J.
- 38:50Speaker 2: Brown about this, but their offense last year was a
- 38:53Speaker 2: kind of a train wreck schematically, and the offensive coordinator
- 38:56Speaker 2: lost his job and it was not a pretty situation there.
- 38:59Speaker 4: He's been unhappy for a while and their offense hasn't
- 39:01Speaker 4: always been a train.
- 39:02Speaker 2: But I think it's more usage related than it is
- 39:06Speaker 2: volume related.
- 39:07Speaker 4: I think it's personal. I don't think he likes.
- 39:13Speaker 2: I think there maybe were saying the same thing differently.
- 39:17Speaker 2: I don't think the way that they kind of used
- 39:20Speaker 2: him was probably catering to Jalen Hurts, and it made
- 39:24Speaker 2: him a very one dimensional kind of receiver. Like fifty
- 39:28Speaker 2: percent of his targets last year were on hitches and
- 39:30Speaker 2: go routes. He was running win sprints outside and every
- 39:34Speaker 2: you know, two or three, five whatever snaps, they throw
- 39:38Speaker 2: them a ball down the field and see if he
- 39:40Speaker 2: can make a contested catch on a go wall. I
- 39:42Speaker 2: think he probably felt like they were kind of not
- 39:47Speaker 2: using him to his fullest potential in terms of his
- 39:50Speaker 2: role within the offense. And I think that relates to
- 39:53Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts because of the type of quarterback that Jalen
- 39:56Speaker 2: Hurts is so even though the volume he had one
- 39:58Speaker 2: hundred and twenty one targets last year. The volume looks
- 40:01Speaker 2: like they checked the box. Their offense and the way
- 40:04Speaker 2: they played him. He was glued to the sideline all
- 40:06Speaker 2: the time he's outside. He's running down the field a
- 40:09Speaker 2: lot and not getting a lot of targets, like in
- 40:12Speaker 2: terms of where he wanted to get them. And I
- 40:15Speaker 2: think that that might be sort of where some of that.
- 40:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree with Evan, and I would also add,
- 40:21Speaker 5: just like Evan just said, we're not covering Philadelphia. So when,
- 40:24Speaker 5: by no means are we trying to tell you what
- 40:25Speaker 5: we were saying about AJ Brown and his mentality and
- 40:28Speaker 5: his you know whatever, his his feelings there, we don't know.
- 40:32Speaker 5: We're not there, We're not privy to all those details.
- 40:34Speaker 5: We're going by some of these stories that we've read
- 40:37Speaker 5: that have been pretty detailed, especially the jal the dysfunction.
- 40:41Speaker 5: I hope though within and it seems like there's a
- 40:44Speaker 5: disconnect between AJ Brown in Jalen Hurts.
- 40:47Speaker 1: I hope when if he gets here, if he gets
- 40:50Speaker 1: here and he talks to the media the first time
- 40:52Speaker 1: and they ask him about that Philly situation, I hope
- 40:56Speaker 1: he elects to say, I just hope he's asked about it. Yeah,
- 40:58Speaker 1: I'm a patriot and that's what I'm focused on. That's
- 41:01Speaker 1: in the I hope he doesn't get into any details
- 41:03Speaker 1: about that.
- 41:04Speaker 4: I don't.
- 41:04Speaker 2: You know, well, I don't necessarily need him to get
- 41:06Speaker 2: into details about the drama that may or may not
- 41:08Speaker 2: be happening between him and Jalen Hurts, But I think
- 41:11Speaker 2: it's it's an interesting conversation about his The numbers would
- 41:17Speaker 2: tell you that he had a huge role in the offense,
- 41:20Speaker 2: but his frustration would tell you that he felt like
- 41:22Speaker 2: he was misused. So like, what was it about how
- 41:25Speaker 2: they were using him that he didn't like? You know, well,
- 41:28Speaker 2: would you say that, I just you don't want to
- 41:31Speaker 2: do that again.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Well, from the amount of Eagles game that I saw,
- 41:35Speaker 1: I would have to agree with him in that there
- 41:38Speaker 1: was that volume, but it didn't seem in the critical
- 41:40Speaker 1: parts of the game. It didn't seem like he was
- 41:42Speaker 1: part of winning or losing, you know what I mean.
- 41:45Speaker 1: It was just like, Okay, it's time to throw to
- 41:47Speaker 1: AJ Brown. Now let's check that box.
- 41:49Speaker 2: When they won the Super Bowl two years ago, two
- 41:51Speaker 2: years ago, we're talking about last year.
- 41:53Speaker 4: Pissed when they won the Super Bowl. This is not
- 41:56Speaker 4: a new thing.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Well, I'm just talking about last year. Whatast year.
- 41:59Speaker 2: I think when the game was on the line in
- 42:01Speaker 2: the playoff game when they got knocked out, they were
- 42:02Speaker 2: throwing the ball to him. Him and DeVante Smith are
- 42:05Speaker 2: really the two volume guys in that offense. Like, I
- 42:09Speaker 2: think it more along the line with Evans talking about
- 42:12Speaker 2: I think it's one thing to just say and look,
- 42:15Speaker 2: you know box score analysis and say, well, geez, he
- 42:18Speaker 2: had six for you know, ninety yards and you got
- 42:20Speaker 2: targeted thirteen times?
- 42:22Speaker 5: Woulds he so pissed about? But if it's the way
- 42:24Speaker 5: Evan's talking about, and you know, you're just sort of
- 42:27Speaker 5: asking him to do the same things because Jalen Hurts.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Refuses to throw the ball where through the.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Middle of the field between the number numbers, maybe that
- 42:35Speaker 2: you know, you're really limited the guys. Yeah, sort of
- 42:38Speaker 2: repet wise. I mean, I just that's what I saw.
- 42:40Speaker 5: But I think it's personal. I just don't think he
- 42:42Speaker 5: likes the quarterback. I think the quarterback has rubbed a
- 42:44Speaker 5: lot of people. Again, going off of things I've read,
- 42:47Speaker 5: not conversations I've had with anybody.
- 42:49Speaker 2: I want to be upfront about that. I'm just going
- 42:51Speaker 2: off of stuff that I've read. It seems like the.
- 42:53Speaker 5: Quarterback is rubbing a lot of people the wrong way there, yea,
- 42:56Speaker 5: and that's causing some problems.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I just and look, it's been four
- 43:01Speaker 2: or five years since he was in Tennessee, but the
- 43:04Speaker 2: AJ Brown that I remember in Tennessee's catching balls over
- 43:07Speaker 2: the middle and running with them afterwards, right like he's
- 43:10Speaker 2: catching the DK Metcalf play. Yeah, you know the Pittsburgh
- 43:13Speaker 2: had last year a little bit with yeah, you know, slants,
- 43:16Speaker 2: crossing routes, things over the middle of the field.
- 43:18Speaker 4: And big strong guy who can run and he's a
- 43:21Speaker 4: running back with the.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Ball in his hands, and he's just and in the
- 43:23Speaker 2: Eagles offense, Like you know, I've watched most of his
- 43:27Speaker 2: tape from last year already, and it's like, hitch hitch go,
- 43:32Speaker 2: we have to go, hitch hitch go. And it's like,
- 43:35Speaker 2: if you're a guy like AJ Brown, after a while,
- 43:37Speaker 2: it's like, you know what, I'm like, I can do
- 43:40Speaker 2: other things and ask him to.
- 43:41Speaker 5: Do some more things, and maybe you get a more
- 43:43Speaker 5: productive player and then hopefully that leads to a happier player.
- 43:48Speaker 4: Yeah, you don't have any of this sort of.
- 43:50Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think a lot of it stems you know,
- 43:52Speaker 2: they used AJ Brown as more of I maybe decoys
- 43:57Speaker 2: a little bit strong, but they were trying to lighten
- 43:59Speaker 2: the box for Saquon Barkley, and two years ago when
- 44:02Speaker 2: they won the Super Bowl, it worked like Gangbusters. Last
- 44:05Speaker 2: year didn't work quite as much. But you know, when
- 44:07Speaker 2: you have that threat of AJ Brown outside the numbers,
- 44:10Speaker 2: you know, defenses have to account for that. They either
- 44:13Speaker 2: have to put number one corners or safety help or whatever,
- 44:16Speaker 2: and then you know you're bringing guys and hats out
- 44:18Speaker 2: of the box and then you're running the ball like
- 44:20Speaker 2: they did two years ago with Barkley. So he had
- 44:23Speaker 2: a very important role and has a very important role
- 44:26Speaker 2: in terms of you know, you need somebody like that
- 44:29Speaker 2: to be a threat out there. But I don't know
- 44:31Speaker 2: if he was necessarily used to his full capacity.
- 44:34Speaker 14: Now.
- 44:34Speaker 2: The other side of that coin is that he's declining
- 44:37Speaker 2: and that he's not the same player anymore. But it's
- 44:39Speaker 2: hard to tell when you know all.
- 44:41Speaker 1: He's doing is do is Josh McDaniels have to change
- 44:43Speaker 1: anything with how he runs an offense. If AJ Brown
- 44:46Speaker 1: is on it.
- 44:47Speaker 2: No, I don't think so. I Actually I think he's
- 44:49Speaker 2: a pretty good fit. I think that McDaniels will probably
- 44:52Speaker 2: move him around the formation quite a bit more than
- 44:54Speaker 2: what he did in Philadelphia, which I think will be
- 44:57Speaker 2: a good thing. You know, last year he only played
- 45:00Speaker 2: two percent of his routes out of the slot. He
- 45:02Speaker 2: was eighty eight percent of the time he was running
- 45:04Speaker 2: routes outside the numbers or outside the formation. Like I
- 45:07Speaker 2: think at this stage of his career, he might not
- 45:10Speaker 2: have that elite top end speed. So moving him inside
- 45:13Speaker 2: a little bit more and letting him use his strength
- 45:15Speaker 2: and his size and his body and stuff like that
- 45:18Speaker 2: might actually unlock a different dimension and help a little
- 45:21Speaker 2: bit more. The Eagles just didn't really do that, you know,
- 45:24Speaker 2: that wasn't really a big part of their office. So
- 45:26Speaker 2: I think things like that. Actually, Josh McDaniel's probably gonna
- 45:30Speaker 2: sit there and say, I'm going to add routes to
- 45:33Speaker 2: your routrey. I'm gonna make you a more complete player here,
- 45:37Speaker 2: closer to maybe what he was in Tennessee, and you're
- 45:40Speaker 2: gonna be even better for it. And I think that's
- 45:42Speaker 2: sort of the hope.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Anthony writes in Excuse Me hearing all the offseason shows
- 45:47Speaker 1: have made me realize I can pretty much listen to
- 45:49Speaker 1: you guys talk about anything. I once came here for
- 45:52Speaker 1: Patriots talk, but I stay for the vibes and Patriots talk.
- 45:56Speaker 15: But the question is, is.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Kyle Williams remaining number eighteen something or nothing?
- 46:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it's interesting. I don't know. I don't want to
- 46:05Speaker 2: put anybody on blast, but we did tweet out a
- 46:09Speaker 2: picture of Kyle Williams wearing a number eight jersey. That
- 46:11Speaker 2: was us like, we tweeted that out, and that was
- 46:14Speaker 2: usually an indication that he's switching numbers. And then last
- 46:18Speaker 2: night Mike Greese reported that he's going to stick with
- 46:21Speaker 2: after some thought, he's going to stick with eighteen. That
- 46:25Speaker 2: I obviously started all of the conspiracy theories of well,
- 46:29Speaker 2: is eight coming back? Stefan Diggs?
- 46:31Speaker 16: Right?
- 46:31Speaker 17: You know?
- 46:31Speaker 2: Is he keeping eight open for a certain someone? But
- 46:36Speaker 2: I have no idea if that was.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Could you see a world in which they've got Dobbs,
- 46:40Speaker 1: AJ Brown and Stefan Diggs.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Nope, No, I'm with Paul but not, you know, because
- 46:48Speaker 2: I don't think they're going to pay all three of
- 46:50Speaker 2: those guys.
- 46:51Speaker 4: But just to be clear, I don't think they should.
- 46:54Speaker 5: I think that's way too much for one position, if
- 46:57Speaker 5: it's particularly two guys in their thirties.
- 46:59Speaker 2: But if if you're just giving Digs something for the
- 47:01Speaker 2: like to have him play this year, kind of like
- 47:03Speaker 2: the contract they gave him last year, I would.
- 47:07Speaker 4: More worry about, but be fun. Digs and Brown are
- 47:11Speaker 4: existing the ultra elphas Nember Ones. I wouldn't want to
- 47:15Speaker 4: do that. I wouldn't want it. I think it would
- 47:17Speaker 4: be and I think it's almost again.
- 47:20Speaker 5: I never say never with anything, because too many things
- 47:23Speaker 5: have been stunning to me. The Cleveland Browns look like
- 47:26Speaker 5: they have every attention right now of having Deshaun Watson
- 47:28Speaker 5: Yea be their starting quarterback. I would have told you,
- 47:31Speaker 5: you know, after that second time he told the Achilles
- 47:34Speaker 5: that he's not ever going to play again.
- 47:36Speaker 4: So I don't say never, but I'd be very very surprised.
- 47:39Speaker 2: I think that is there a chance that there that
- 47:42Speaker 2: Diggs is sort of a hedge or a backup plan
- 47:45Speaker 2: in case the AJ Brown thing doesn't happen. I think
- 47:47Speaker 2: that's probably more realistic, right like the AJ Brown thing
- 47:50Speaker 2: for some reason falls through.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Would you lose your mind if that happened?
- 47:54Speaker 2: All three of them, it'd be pretty good. It'd be
- 47:57Speaker 2: a pretty good offense. I mean, Digs at this stage
- 48:00Speaker 2: last year was playing fifty five sixty percent of his
- 48:03Speaker 2: snaps in the slot anyways, So, like you know, he's a.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Guy at times. Would you have to throw the ball
- 48:08Speaker 1: each game to keep them all happy?
- 48:09Speaker 2: I mean, you have Drake may So throwing fifty times
- 48:13Speaker 2: for all I care, like you know, I mean, that
- 48:15Speaker 2: would be that would be as good of weapons as
- 48:18Speaker 2: they've had.
- 48:18Speaker 1: In because you know, league wide, I know Tom Brady
- 48:24Speaker 1: was okay, but most teams just throw the ball over
- 48:26Speaker 1: fifty times lose.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Well, they aren't going to throw it fifty times, But
- 48:30Speaker 2: I would say.
- 48:33Speaker 5: On paper, twenty million dollars secondary like afterthought in Romeo Dobbs.
- 48:38Speaker 2: Well, if you're funneling it through the receivers though he's
- 48:41Speaker 2: not like they you can still get the ball at
- 48:43Speaker 2: all three guys on paper, that would be the best
- 48:45Speaker 2: that they've looked offensively since like twenty seventeen, probably, but
- 48:51Speaker 2: Cooks and Edelman and obviously Edelman didn't play eventually, But
- 48:55Speaker 2: I mean, that would be one of the best skill
- 48:58Speaker 2: position groups they've had in a long lung time.
- 49:02Speaker 1: It'd be something. It'd be challenging though, because, like I said,
- 49:05Speaker 1: to give them all their their looks. And for Josh McDaniel, you.
- 49:09Speaker 2: Can be alone.
- 49:10Speaker 5: Genius often walks alone. I can be the loan dissenter.
- 49:13Speaker 5: I want no part of that. I don't think it
- 49:15Speaker 5: would work. I think it'd be a disaster.
- 49:17Speaker 1: It could be. It could be, yeah, possibly, but.
- 49:20Speaker 4: You guys are right.
- 49:21Speaker 5: And Evan just brought up an example of, you know,
- 49:25Speaker 5: an embarrassment of Richard's back.
- 49:27Speaker 4: It was at seventeen.
- 49:28Speaker 2: Yeah, fortunately we never got to see it.
- 49:30Speaker 4: You know, there's there's a lot of good good a
- 49:33Speaker 4: lot of good receivers. They just don't you know.
- 49:35Speaker 5: I don't think the the alpha ego mentality was as
- 49:40Speaker 5: as prevalent.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Arthur's in New York on the hotline, Hey Arthur, how's
- 49:46Speaker 1: it going.
- 49:47Speaker 18: I had a question about get the cornerback room on
- 49:50Speaker 18: the team. Obviously, we have the top three corners in Jones, Carlton, Davis,
- 49:54Speaker 18: and Gonzo.
- 49:55Speaker 19: But beyond that, I'm a little bit worried.
- 49:58Speaker 20: Who do you.
- 49:59Speaker 18: Expect on the other corners outside of those guys to
- 50:02Speaker 18: have the biggest impact and would you consider targeting a
- 50:05Speaker 18: free agent like Kenny Moore just got released by the Colts.
- 50:08Speaker 18: You still got Treyvon Diggs out there, who kind of
- 50:10Speaker 18: graded out as a league average corner, but right now
- 50:12Speaker 18: at league average corner.
- 50:13Speaker 19: Would be important for us to add things well, especially yeah, yeah,
- 50:18Speaker 19: you know Lagarius Speed is out there as well, and
- 50:22Speaker 19: I just I don't I don't know who to trust,
- 50:23Speaker 19: Like I don't want to be a Karen, but we
- 50:25Speaker 19: drafted this guy Karen in the fifth round and he
- 50:28Speaker 19: wasn't in the top four hundred on anybody's board.
- 50:31Speaker 14: Charles Woods was a special teamer last year, and Kendallvilldor
- 50:33Speaker 14: has been a bounced around fifth, sixth cornerback option on
- 50:37Speaker 14: these teams. And I feel like cornerbacks a position where
- 50:39Speaker 14: very rarely, uh does the room remain healthy throughout the
- 50:43Speaker 14: whole year. There are often injuries. Do you think the
- 50:45Speaker 14: Patriots will have to add?
- 50:47Speaker 1: Okay, good question. I shouldn't out.
- 50:51Speaker 5: I don't think that they'll sink much money into a
- 50:53Speaker 5: fourth corner, but I wouldn't. Lagarius Sneed's a guy that
- 50:58Speaker 5: I would kick the tires to see what his health
- 51:00Speaker 5: situation is. Trayvon Diggs, I'm not interested in at all.
- 51:03Speaker 5: He was one of the worst car I don't think
- 51:05Speaker 5: he was a league yet. I mean, I don't know
- 51:06Speaker 5: what PFF said, but he was one of the worst corners.
- 51:10Speaker 2: Didn't get on the field for one of the worst
- 51:11Speaker 2: defenses in the league.
- 51:13Speaker 4: So I don't know what's available. I don't know if.
- 51:17Speaker 2: I'm not as well. Is there a need Is there
- 51:20Speaker 2: a need to Charles Woods when he played last year,
- 51:22Speaker 2: which admittedly was not a lot.
- 51:23Speaker 4: But when he did play, I thought he competed well.
- 51:26Speaker 4: I thought he handled a.
- 51:27Speaker 5: Fourth corner spot reasonably well. I'm not overly concerned about that. However,
- 51:33Speaker 5: the last thing that the caller said is accurate. How
- 51:37Speaker 5: often do you keep three guys like that? And two
- 51:39Speaker 5: of those guys in particular, actually all three of them
- 51:41Speaker 5: have injury histories in Gonzo, Marcus Jones, and Carlon Davis.
- 51:47Speaker 5: They've all were pretty healthy last year, but that's kind
- 51:51Speaker 5: of an anomaly for all three of them. So I
- 51:54Speaker 5: wouldn't feel as good if one of those guys was
- 51:56Speaker 5: out saying for the season.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Sure, yeah, I mean, but those.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Teams don't go four deep with quality corners.
- 52:02Speaker 2: I agree, and I agree, yeah, I think that you
- 52:04Speaker 2: know these concerns that were were starting to spin back
- 52:08Speaker 2: into like first world problem means you're good, yeah, which
- 52:11Speaker 2: is a good thing. But we're talking about you know,
- 52:15Speaker 2: at corner if they lose one of their top three guys,
- 52:17Speaker 2: or at linebacker if they lose Roberts Bulane, or you know,
- 52:20Speaker 2: at safety. They really only go too deep with Woodson
- 52:23Speaker 2: and Byered right now, And do we trust del Pettis
- 52:25Speaker 2: as the third safety or somebody else? Like these are
- 52:28Speaker 2: first world problems, you know, like do you have a
- 52:31Speaker 2: really good cornerback trio? I don't know, like if those
- 52:34Speaker 2: veteran guys, if they get into training camp and somebody
- 52:37Speaker 2: gets hurt and they need to replace someone long term,
- 52:40Speaker 2: if if someone you know comes up with an actual injury,
- 52:44Speaker 2: h then maybe you kick the tires on a sneed
- 52:47Speaker 2: or you know whoever one of these veteran corners. But
- 52:51Speaker 2: as of right now, I'd rather see some of these
- 52:53Speaker 2: young players that they've brought in the last two years
- 52:56Speaker 2: have a chance at some reps in training camp and
- 52:58Speaker 2: let's see, if you know, Caleb Prunpty was this year's
- 53:02Speaker 2: Craig Woodson, Like maybe he is. They had him in
- 53:05Speaker 2: the fifth round and everybody else was wrong. You know
- 53:07Speaker 2: he's a better player than that. You know, let's see
- 53:09Speaker 2: what Kendall Vildor, who's played a little bit on defense
- 53:12Speaker 2: in his NFL career, can do. Does Charles Woods take
- 53:15Speaker 2: another step? You know after being acquired you're kind of
- 53:19Speaker 2: late in the process last year. I'd rather do that
- 53:21Speaker 2: than you know, go to the free agent. Well, right now,
- 53:24Speaker 2: if we get to the end of August and Carlon
- 53:27Speaker 2: Davis goes down and he's going to miss half the season,
- 53:29Speaker 2: then you know, maybe you revisited.
- 53:31Speaker 1: That Travis in West Virginia writes, and if your intention
- 53:34Speaker 1: was to make me doze off, you didn't need to
- 53:36Speaker 1: play the LOMO interview. You could have just taken a
- 53:38Speaker 1: call from Pat Naguam. Either way, mission accomplished.
- 53:41Speaker 4: Well f you, Travis.
- 53:43Speaker 1: Wow, I'm like, so I thought I didn't think it
- 53:47Speaker 1: was boring.
- 53:48Speaker 5: I thought he seemed like a personable kid. I'm you know,
- 53:50Speaker 5: you know me, Freddie a little of huge interviews.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Guys welcoming him to the building.
- 53:55Speaker 5: So I thought, you know, I thought he seemed like
- 53:56Speaker 5: a personable kid. And I thought you guys did a
- 53:58Speaker 5: good like. I thought that you asked them just you know,
- 54:01Speaker 5: kind of a silly thing about the hats though, Yeah, people,
- 54:04Speaker 5: because I have heard that a lot.
- 54:05Speaker 4: Oh, they they obviously knew they were taken them. No,
- 54:08Speaker 4: they get every every hat.
- 54:10Speaker 1: We could have like lined them up and I could
- 54:11Speaker 1: have you know, done like hand work with him and stuff.
- 54:14Speaker 1: You know, I know, would you have liked that better, Travis?
- 54:17Speaker 2: Maybe I could have put him in a right tackle
- 54:19Speaker 2: pass set. Yeah, you know how he kicked out.
- 54:22Speaker 1: Next time, I'll tell you what. When we're going to
- 54:24Speaker 1: have a player on, we'll we'll email you, Travis, like
- 54:27Speaker 1: and you can tell us like how to spruce.
- 54:28Speaker 4: Why are you being like that? Why might be in
- 54:31Speaker 4: all defensive.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Because they want to be, because I just feel like it.
- 54:34Speaker 5: Why are you being all defensive like some random you
- 54:37Speaker 5: know national NFL has been? How tweets out that the
- 54:42Speaker 5: Patriots are going to have a fall this year and
- 54:44Speaker 5: you get your panties in a bunch.
- 54:48Speaker 1: What are we doing? No one?
- 54:49Speaker 2: No national has been Yeah, like ten years ago, twenty fifty.
- 54:58Speaker 1: I like the Patriots. I you know, I want to
- 55:00Speaker 1: defend them.
- 55:01Speaker 4: That's I will say that.
- 55:01Speaker 5: You shouldn't feel like they're going to be better than
- 55:03Speaker 5: he says. But what makes you like what compels you
- 55:06Speaker 5: to do something that we've kind of been told about.
- 55:08Speaker 1: To because you know, when I see when I see injustice,
- 55:10Speaker 1: I have to speak it.
- 55:11Speaker 2: I like that we keep dropping that in't there.
- 55:13Speaker 4: Sure rules don't apply to the big cheese.
- 55:17Speaker 2: Ain't that the truth?
- 55:19Speaker 1: All right? We're going to take a break. Lots of
- 55:22Speaker 1: emails coming in on various subjects. Plus we have to
- 55:27Speaker 1: talk to Paul about his trip to Italy. His first
- 55:30Speaker 1: time out of the country. That wasn't patriots related? Right, No,
- 55:34Speaker 1: my first time to Europe. That wasn't patriots Okay, okay,
- 55:37Speaker 1: depend to Canada?
- 55:38Speaker 2: Okaycount?
- 55:43Speaker 4: Does that Bahamas count?
- 55:44Speaker 1: Yes?
- 55:47Speaker 4: That is true. I didn't fly to Yeah, all right,
- 55:50Speaker 4: we'll be right back.

- 58:22Speaker 23: engaged to my fiancee the day after Valentines. Ah So,
- 58:31Speaker 23: I met her my freshman year in college and we
- 58:36Speaker 23: started dating September tenth. Yeah, So, going into our fifth year, now,
- 58:44Speaker 23: you know, in September college.
- 58:45Speaker 1: You guys go to school forever.
- 58:47Speaker 4: Now, yes, where'd you get the name jam from?
- 58:51Speaker 15: So really nobody didn't know how to say my name correctly.
- 58:54Speaker 23: So people would be like Ja Marian or they'll say
- 58:58Speaker 23: some other type of way, you know, and I try
- 59:00Speaker 23: to like another fun thing, I mean, like a funny
- 59:03Speaker 23: thing about it was high school, like the announcement that
- 59:07Speaker 23: you scored something.
- 59:08Speaker 15: You know, they say Jamirian Miller.
- 59:11Speaker 1: You know.
- 59:11Speaker 23: I even had a family member go up there, you
- 59:13Speaker 23: know and try to correct them, and it stated went
- 59:16Speaker 23: on the whole year, you know, and then it became
- 59:19Speaker 23: my senior year.
- 59:20Speaker 15: My head coach, you know, he was like, you know what,
- 59:23Speaker 15: I'm gonna start calling you Jam.
- 59:25Speaker 1: You know.
- 59:25Speaker 23: Then they started getting around the building and just more
- 59:28Speaker 23: and people just started calling me that. So I just
- 59:30Speaker 23: started to stick with it.
- 59:33Speaker 1: Jam.
- 59:34Speaker 15: So it's a yen, not a yawn. So they went good.
- 59:42Speaker 23: Uh, you know new you know, everybody says it's like
- 59:45Speaker 23: a sponge, you know, trying to learn a whole new offense,
- 59:48Speaker 23: you know, and just you gotta take it day by day,
- 59:51Speaker 23: watch film and study to playbook.
- 59:53Speaker 24: Tropped to the rookies and you Drew High guys just
- 59:56Speaker 24: talked about the rookie class gotta come together and bonding issue,
- 59:59Speaker 24: the you guys have kids to do something like that.
- 1:00:02Speaker 25: So far, I know it's relatively early in the.
- 1:00:04Speaker 23: Process, but as of right now and not just yet,
- 1:00:07Speaker 23: because you know, Susan, we get here, we hit the
- 1:00:09Speaker 23: ground running, but you know, we take it day by day,
- 1:00:12Speaker 23: trying to learn each player, you know, trying to learn
- 1:00:14Speaker 23: their name, where they're from.
- 1:00:16Speaker 17: How would you describe your draft experience?
- 1:00:20Speaker 7: You know, it was.
- 1:00:21Speaker 23: It was a great experience, from the start of going
- 1:00:24Speaker 23: to the combine to to get drafted. You know, overall,
- 1:00:27Speaker 23: I'm just blessed to be in this situation, you know,
- 1:00:30Speaker 23: and other people say, it's thousands of millions other kids,
- 1:00:34Speaker 23: you know, want to be in position that I am
- 1:00:37Speaker 23: and everybody else in and you know, it's just a
- 1:00:40Speaker 23: blessing be in this position.
- 1:00:41Speaker 17: And how about on that Saturday, that third day, you
- 1:00:45Speaker 17: know we're getting towardy, I'm there. Can you share what
- 1:00:47Speaker 17: your mindset was that day and what your reaction was
- 1:00:51Speaker 17: to getting the call man?
- 1:00:53Speaker 15: It was it was priceless. I'm to be honest, I
- 1:00:56Speaker 15: wasn't expecting it.
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: You know, it was later in that realm.
- 1:00:59Speaker 23: You know, if I I got directed or I'll become
- 1:01:01Speaker 23: a free agent, you know, no matter what wherever team
- 1:01:04Speaker 23: I go to. But just go out there and just
- 1:01:06Speaker 23: bust my tail off just to earn a spot.
- 1:01:09Speaker 20: Your last year team wise, you struggle a little bit offensively,
- 1:01:13Speaker 20: struggling on the football, just and I know you don't
- 1:01:16Speaker 20: want the injury, Like, can you just kind of take
- 1:01:18Speaker 20: us through that year? I felt like it was maybe
- 1:01:20Speaker 20: a little bit frustrating for you guys as a group.
- 1:01:23Speaker 15: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 1:01:23Speaker 23: You know me personally doing all them injuries, you know, dislocated,
- 1:01:28Speaker 23: call them on before the start of the season and
- 1:01:31Speaker 23: well late this season the.
- 1:01:32Speaker 15: Ankle spraying or what so.
- 1:01:34Speaker 23: But like I feel like at that time, you know,
- 1:01:36Speaker 23: you just gotta do what you gotta do just to
- 1:01:38Speaker 23: help the team as much as possible to win.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: What did you learn about yourself going through that?
- 1:01:42Speaker 23: You know, you just gotta stay hut yourself focused on
- 1:01:45Speaker 23: what you gotta do. You know, make first make sure
- 1:01:48Speaker 23: you're healthy, make sure you train the room, do whatever
- 1:01:50Speaker 23: you can to make sure you're a body healthy.
- 1:01:53Speaker 15: The collar bone thing happened, oh man, so.
- 1:01:57Speaker 23: So I had the ball, of course, and as I'm
- 1:02:00Speaker 23: running out to the outside it was a safety and
- 1:02:04Speaker 23: I believe it was a d N came and tackled
- 1:02:07Speaker 23: me and ran back. You know, you have the ball
- 1:02:09Speaker 23: behind tight. So I landed straight on the ball. So
- 1:02:13Speaker 23: as soon as I land on the ball.
- 1:02:16Speaker 15: I didn't I didn't actually feel like a pop or anything.
- 1:02:18Speaker 23: But I got up and I'm thinking, it's my shoulder,
- 1:02:22Speaker 23: thinking out on this with my shoulder, telling the trainings
- 1:02:25Speaker 23: my shoulder something.
- 1:02:27Speaker 15: Then I started to feel it over here.
- 1:02:29Speaker 7: I'm like, shoot, so now I'm home, my home.
- 1:02:33Speaker 23: You know, I'm not trying to be a weak person
- 1:02:36Speaker 23: of a song, you know, I'm trying to let practice
- 1:02:37Speaker 23: finish then go to the trainers or what's so.
- 1:02:40Speaker 15: But they ended up getting me and putting me out
- 1:02:42Speaker 15: and fixing the wars, both those for.
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: Your senior season or with the collarbone before.
- 1:02:50Speaker 15: So yes, the collar bane was before the season.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: And then yeah, was it like.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: The summer league game or something like like how because
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: it was before but you said the safety came.
- 1:03:00Speaker 15: Out, Yeah, it was during fall count.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: Yeah, given tip for having a lot of speed, just
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: how much do you want to showcase that and have
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: that be a big.
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: Part of your game.
- 1:03:12Speaker 23: You know, whatever position they put me in, you know,
- 1:03:15Speaker 23: if it's blocking, running, brow rent or whatever. You know,
- 1:03:19Speaker 23: I'm gonna just at the end of the day, I'm
- 1:03:21Speaker 23: gonna do what I gotta do just to let this
- 1:03:23Speaker 23: team win.
- 1:03:24Speaker 20: I would have been your first impressions of Josh Miterennial's offense.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: No love it. You know, great offense.
- 1:03:31Speaker 23: You know, like what I said, You know, whatever position
- 1:03:33Speaker 23: you put me in, you know I'm gonna take full
- 1:03:35Speaker 23: advantage of it and execute.
- 1:03:38Speaker 24: Jim, you don't have a lot of carries. When you
- 1:03:40Speaker 24: look at your body of work and called you were
- 1:03:42Speaker 24: in a timeshare for most of the time. Do you
- 1:03:44Speaker 24: think that gives you an advantage? And you're coming to
- 1:03:46Speaker 24: the NFL now where your body is fresher.
- 1:03:49Speaker 15: If you take quays the gifts.
- 1:03:51Speaker 25: So when you look at your time at Alabama, obviously
- 1:03:53Speaker 25: you were in a time share, so you didn't you
- 1:03:56Speaker 25: didn't have as many carries as some guys are coming
- 1:03:58Speaker 25: to the league. Do you think that gives you an
- 1:03:59Speaker 25: advance manage where you feel that you're fresher physically our own.
- 1:04:03Speaker 15: Feel like you give me an advantage.
- 1:04:04Speaker 23: You know you got other great running backs of the players,
- 1:04:07Speaker 23: you know, they are they everybody here is to earn
- 1:04:10Speaker 23: a spot, earn a job, you know, and if you injured,
- 1:04:14Speaker 23: fresh or whatso, you know, if you're the best, you're
- 1:04:16Speaker 23: gonna play your start.
- 1:04:19Speaker 15: I'm sure deep you've gotten to get into play. But
- 1:04:20Speaker 15: but were you surprised at all? A boy, how many
- 1:04:22Speaker 15: responsibilities facts have here in pass protection?
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: And how does that maybe compare to what you were
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: asked to do in college?
- 1:04:27Speaker 23: Yeah, of course it's new, you know, going from college
- 1:04:29Speaker 23: to the to the league, you know, and a would
- 1:04:32Speaker 23: saying you got to be a sponge, you know. Now
- 1:04:34Speaker 23: you're trying to learn the whole new offense, you know,
- 1:04:36Speaker 23: learn everybody else type of style, and they just got
- 1:04:40Speaker 23: to be a sponge.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: What so, Like you said, you just recently got engaged
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: to be able to share the draft experience and kind
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: of just start to a new you know chapter with
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: your fiancee.
- 1:04:52Speaker 10: Uh.
- 1:04:52Speaker 23: You know, it's a blessing, you know, me and her
- 1:04:55Speaker 23: both men from the South. You know, we get a
- 1:04:56Speaker 23: chance to come up northeast so to the no you know,
- 1:05:02Speaker 23: and you know, I'm loving it, you know, I get
- 1:05:04Speaker 23: the travel experienced new things around here.
- 1:05:07Speaker 10: Thank you.
- 1:05:08Speaker 15: Thank you.
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: And now great moments in.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: History.
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: Have any resolution as to how it's going to be
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: for everybody, you know, us, you know, continue our inside baseball.
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: What do you mean from where are we going to
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: be and where we're gonna be? What are we gonna do?
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: You just say that yesterday you said you didn't know
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: exactly how that was.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: Gonna said, those who were in the red press box.
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: Blue blue, I mean we're blue.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: Oh, he's gonna those who are in the blue practical
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: in house will be in the blue press box.
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: But are they going to do spacing up there? Yeah,
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: so we're not going to be crowded and all. There's
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: gonna be no visiting answering his question. Seriously, for me,
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: it just blew me right off.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: I'm asking Eric, you'll be spaced out as normal.
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: That's another great moment from Bank.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: All right Backhan Pagets on film Today five to five
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: Pass five hundred podcast at Patriots dot com is the
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: email address Fred writes in from Montreal. He says, when
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: is the long away to ten part documentary forged in
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: Mike Thesow coming out? Speaking of Fortune Foxborough, That'll be
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: coming out Friday. So episode season two episode one coming
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: out Friday.
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: Can't wait for that.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: And of course the schedule will be coming out on Thursday,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: so be around your computers around seven thirty Thursday night
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: for some good stuff. We'll get all our questions will
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: be answered on Thursday.
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: So what do you guys take a speculation on that schedule?
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: What do you guys think of what's become of the
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: schedule release? And like you don't want my thoughts, Well,
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: I just I more mean like, and I'll ask the
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: people like do fans genuinely care or the numbers say yes?
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: Or do we care? And that has created about this
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: the actual schedule, not about the content, but about.
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: The sec I don't think they care at all about
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: the content, But I think they care about the schedule
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: because they want to make their travel plans.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: Okay, both, maybe it can't both be true.
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: I just find it like, I think the schedule release
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: stuff jumped the shock about fifteen years ago. Yeah, but
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: the numbers say no, I know, what do you mean?
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: You know, I have a lot of things I could
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: show you that there good numbers that are horrific products.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Well, whether it's horrific or not doesn't mean they don't care.
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: No, I don't think they want it. They want to
- 1:07:30Speaker 5: know Evan's point. Yeah, but you know, if you just
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: put the schedule, you don't need to watch our video
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: to get the schedule. It's going to be on patries
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: dot com.
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: But they still watch all the videos if that's the
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: first place that you get it, and all.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: The networks ESPN will play them.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: And that that wasn't really what I meant.
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: I'm more meant to that's all inside baseball, and that's
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: why the numbers are where they are.
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: Is that if they didn't do that, the numbers wouldn't
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: be like that.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: I just more meant the actual schedule. I find it
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: interesting because like for people like us, and I'm not
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: this is isn't complaining or anything, but that kind of
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: sets our schedule of our life for yeah, five six months, right.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: But for a fan, I just the only thing I
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: ever cared about when I was a fan was the opener, like,
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: who are who's the who are they playing?
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: In? The opener?
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: Was interesting to me. Where the bye week was maybe
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: just from a wins and losses standpoint, might be a factor,
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: but like it has become like a well.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: There's a small subset of fan bases that actually travel, So.
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: I think that there's a lot of interest in that
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: probably grew fair enough. I think, you know, people want
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: to know like Nashville, Miami, New Orleans, you know these
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: destination kind of places. When I was before I worked
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: for Fred, I always went to the Jets game and
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: then one year the Jets game fell on a like
- 1:08:45Speaker 5: a spot that it just wasn't so we went ended
- 1:08:48Speaker 5: up going to Buffalo that year. You know that kind
- 1:08:50Speaker 5: of stuff. I went out to San Diego one year. Yeah,
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: So like you want to know when they are. You
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: want to get playing reservations and stuff like that. You
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: want to get situated as soon as you can. I
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: think there's a lot of interested in that.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Well, there's also the fans that stay local. It's like,
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: you know, a couple of fit we go to one
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: game a year, so let's so they want to know
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: once the schedule comes out, they decide which one. Then
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: if he's a season ticket member, you want to know, Okay,
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: what's the schedule? Which ones am I going to put
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: up for sale? A lot I'm not going to go.
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: To a lot of people do not like to go.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: A lot of season ticket holders as an example, do
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: not like to go to the night games, right, Like
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: I have one of my very best friends, one of
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: my golfing buddies, has been a season ticket holder as
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: long as I've worked here.
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: He does not.
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: He refuses to go to night games. So he needs
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: he wants to know when those are so we can
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: get rid of them. Yeah, sure quickly, I guess.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: I just I was more thinking, is this like a
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: chicken or the egg situation where it's important to us
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: the media, and it's important to the teams.
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: So then it becomes like this like whole.
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: Marathon schedule release thing, which kind of generates I give
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: the credit, you know what I'm.
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: Saying, Like I do, I know exactly what you mean,
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: But I do give the NFL credit for making it
- 1:09:59Speaker 5: in to oh yeah, a big thing. I mean this
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: is like they're a good job of They do a
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: good job of taking nothing and make it think something something.
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: And I don't mean that sarcastically. I think the NFL
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: does a good job of that. They the NFL, when
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: I was a kid was not a twelve month of
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: the year thing. It is now, and that's because they
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: take the draft and they made it this huge thing.
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: And they take the schedule release and they make it.
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: You know, a random week mid week in May is
- 1:10:28Speaker 5: got relevance.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: Now, it's crazy how much the sports just put the
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: schedule up, they release like right right now, they're releasing
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: like a game at a time. And then it's not
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: just the teams that are playing in that game. Then
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: you get the tweets and stuff like that about how
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: that impacts your team that you're not Okay, you're now
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: you're not playing in that game. So you're the Sunday
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: Night game, right they puts The first Sunday Night came
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: out yesterday.
- 1:10:51Speaker 10: Right.
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: It was Cowboys Giants Big Shot by Nice nice Division.
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: Two really good teams. I don't even care how good
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: they are. I see that game twice a year every
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: year from my entire life. But now I have to
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: have that be my marquee Sunday Night game.
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: Whatever.
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: So those are two possibilities to play playing in Seattle. Yeah,
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: so that increases the chances that the Patriots could be
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: opening the season in Seattle. Right, I think Chicago is won.
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: I think that Adam Schefter said Chicago down to.
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: The Patriots, the Bears, the Chargers, or the Cardinals and
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: I think we can safely say it's probably not going
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: to be the Cardinals.
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: The other yeah, the other three arguments.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: Yeah, for all three.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: Yep, we'll find out Thursday night.
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: Mike probably find out the Seattle part of it before that,
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: because that's one of the games, the trickle out games. Yeah,
- 1:11:42Speaker 5: one of the league games that the league, the league
- 1:11:45Speaker 5: sends out there. I think no, that's the Wednesday night,
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: that's the opener.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: Yeah, they always announced that before the rest of the schedule.
- 1:11:51Speaker 10: Uh.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: Fred in Montreal goes on to say, I protested to
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: no avail when the show started accepting calls. Please more emails,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: less calls. Uh am, I the original listener of the
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: original podcast. I remember downloading the binaries pro and blah
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: blah blah, and that was a while ago. Yeah, who
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: is this fred in Montreal. I remember Dave Prizzoli urging
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: us to take care on Patriots Video News. Now he
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: go Pats, but he.
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: Had to take care too. Yeah, he's right.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: I remember the original producer, Gary Grideki. Despite a few
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: memorable opens, Marine Matt is the goat producer with custom
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: opens every week. I even met the PFW crew in
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: Buffalo in two thousand and six, So trivia on that game.
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: Buffalo?
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: What was the final score of that game?
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: Two thousand and six? So yeah, I don't remember.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: No, he doesn't have the answerssman. Oh no, he does
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: have the answer. Twenty eight to seven? Who was the
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: quarterback for Buffalo? That's correct? Who was the coach for Buffalo.
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: Two thousand and six?
- 1:13:04Speaker 4: Ye, Dick Jarn Dick gurn is correct.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: Who scored the New England touchdowns? Plural? Corey Dillon.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: I was gonna guess Cory okay.
- 1:13:20Speaker 10: And uh.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Who scored the New England? He said, who scored the
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: New England touchdowns? So Corey Dillon had two h Brady
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: to Chad Jackson and Brady to Doug Gabriel.
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: Chad Jackson one.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: That's that's good to uh, Doug Gabriel and Chad Jackson.
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: Those are two I could have thought about for days
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: and days.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: Matt, send Fred a T shirt. He wants a job,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: he wants he wants a large T shirt. So that's
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: a good that's a good email Auto Memories and that
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: Gary Decky, our original producer, Zach zach and Ohio writes
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: in I would gladly take twenty four hours of Fred's
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: takes on philosophy and existentialism over even one minute of
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: Celtics talk. Off season shows are the best. Also, he says,
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: seems to be more traction every day. On a possible
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: Stefan Diggs return, any validity, we talked about that earlier,
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Paul says no, he says he, He says he wouldn't
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: do it.
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: Idn't touch anything at all.
- 1:14:24Speaker 5: By the way, about this number thing, well I just
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: told you I think that's yeah, and then I think
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: that's interesting.
- 1:14:30Speaker 4: He was gonna wear eight Now he's decided to stick
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: with eighteen.
- 1:14:33Speaker 7: No.
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: Ramona and Tampa says, yes, I care about the schedule
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: for travel, work, fantasy projections, et cetera. I also work
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: at Raymond James and feel like I can't make travel
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: or family plans because I don't know which day I'll
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: be working or Marquee games. I want to reserve for
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: personal time.
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: I'm not going to put my nose up to anybody's.
- 1:14:54Speaker 5: No, but if you're like a huge fan of right
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: and Yeah, you want to know, like even when they're
- 1:15:01Speaker 5: playing Sunday night, because you want to make sure that you're,
- 1:15:05Speaker 5: you know, straightened out for Monday, if you have if
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: you're one of those jobs that you got to get
- 1:15:09Speaker 5: up early or whatever. There's a lot of logistics that
- 1:15:12Speaker 5: go not just for media people. I understand what you're saying,
- 1:15:15Speaker 5: Like I know, it.
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: Just never was like that for me as a fan.
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: But I'm not saying that you're I have some friends, but.
- 1:15:21Speaker 5: I haven't been able to do this. I you know,
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: it's one of my one of my few like real laments.
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: Well for what we do, Like, I have a group
- 1:15:29Speaker 5: of buddies that go to a college football game every year.
- 1:15:32Speaker 5: They go to a like, they go to LSU, they
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: go to whatever they like to do it during the.
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: Bye week, you know that kind of stuff. So they
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: want to plan it.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: Sure, we've been trying to go to the Iron Bowl
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: sober and Alabama, but we never can go because we're always.
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: Because they're always working and you can never commit.
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: Maybe this will be the year, though, uh.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Anthony says, I couldn't care less about the schedule reveal
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: as a non New England based film fan, Home and
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: Away doesn't matter to me. I don't want watch the
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: Patriots or any other team's schedule. These videos. I love
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: the Gil Goodwill Hunting homage homage think you did a
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: few years back. But I loved it for the skid itself,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: not for the info on who we were playing. I
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: care much more about uniform and face mask talk than schedules.
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: Well that, by the way, those videos that we do
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: and other that's not about giving you the information about
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: the schedule. It's just the content. The schedule you get
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: in PDF form or whatever. You know, Like if you're
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: looking for, oh, what's the schedule, you're gonna miss it
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: on the on these funny videos that teams do, Like
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: you watch the charges I wouldn't know what the schedule
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: is from that. You're just looking for the jokes. It
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: would have to be funny, you know. I'd find the
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: Chargers one to be extremely overrated. Okay, Like everybody gets.
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: On like this, like things that theirs is the watch
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: it the Krem De La Krem and I I never
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, like we're doing for doing anime for
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: the tenth straight year.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: Well yeah, I'm getting a little tired. But it is
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: interesting to see who they're where they're gonna go, are
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: they going to how far across the line are they
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: going to cross? Yeah?
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: I don't know, you know, interesting especially this year we.
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: Uh Dana Virginia in Michigan. Ill you uh is Paul
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: planning to write a book about his trip to Italy?
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: But he happened to drop off any cat food for
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: slutty cats over there?
- 1:17:25Speaker 4: Nice? Another good era.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: That's a homage to Eric.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: We got to talk a little bit about all.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: We're going to do that right now. Uh do we
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: know why Alex really isn't on today's show. Just want
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: to make sure that no men in black appeared in
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: Foxboro after Thursday shown.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I did see Alex earlier, so she's she has
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: not been abducted by aliens.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: So let's talk a little bit about what Paul did
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: last week. He wasn't here all week. He was in Italy,
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: in Europe with his family, Like was it your immediate family?
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: Were your father there?
- 1:17:56Speaker 7: No?
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: No for you fa, no, just my wife Will was there.
- 1:18:00Speaker 5: And he was finishing a semester abroad. He was in
- 1:18:03Speaker 5: Japan for twelve weeks. In the last six weeks he
- 1:18:06Speaker 5: was in Rome, so it was the last week that
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: he was finishing his classes. So Beth and I went
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: over spent three nights in Rome. You know, right in
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: the heart of the city. It was terrific. Got Colisseum tour,
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: Vatican tour went, you know, Treviy Fountain, spent all the
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: touristy kind of things, you know, and brilliant, enjoyed.
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: Will Paul was at the Colosseum. People were asking him
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: gladiator trivia and he was getting it right. Like he
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: remembered when Kletas beat Leopoli, Oh, I think you're in them,
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: Like he knew which which match it was, what kind
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: of sign he.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: Was talking about the movie.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: I'm not going no, no, no, no, I'm talking about
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: the actual events that so in the Colosseum.
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: It's fun, you know, a quick little funny story like
- 1:18:52Speaker 5: the just the amount of people was overwhelming, Like so
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: these these tours, this literally thousands of people in the
- 1:19:01Speaker 5: Colosseum in the Vatican. But we're getting our tour in
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: the Vatican, I mean in the Colisseum. And they're talking
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: about sort of the the logistics and really the procedure
- 1:19:13Speaker 5: of the gladiators and you know, the fighters and stuff.
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: And you know, they were talking about like where like
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: the emperors and you know, the royalty, the scent, the Senate,
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: you know, and they were like, and you know, and
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: then what would they do?
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: You know, it's a voice that and everybody's just looking
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: at it. And I went like this, yeah, exactly have
- 1:19:33Speaker 4: you not seen the movie?
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: And I was like, I only one that.
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: Saw this movie.
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: What do we do? To be fair? The movie might
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: not be historically accurate at all.
- 1:19:41Speaker 5: So they did sort of explain where it not entirely
- 1:19:49Speaker 5: like that. It was one It was basically one on
- 1:19:53Speaker 5: one stuff. But they would have like you would fight
- 1:19:55Speaker 5: somebody and the you know, the loser would leave, the
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: winner would stay until the next one came.
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: And they did have.
- 1:20:02Speaker 5: Like they would the only ones that would be to
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: death were like the prisoners, and they would be like
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: violent crimes, you know, so if someone was guilty and murder,
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: they would sentence them to death in the coliseum, you know,
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: and they would want people to come because it served
- 1:20:18Speaker 5: it as a deterrent, you know, for for more crimes.
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: So anyway, that was that was really worth it. The
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: Vatican was terrific.
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: So we did three nights there and then we went
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: three nights in Florence, which was good. And fred I
- 1:20:30Speaker 5: told you, I can't confirm there are in fact villa's
- 1:20:33Speaker 5: available in Tuscany.
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: Tuscany, don't believe the hype. Who was the one that
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: was claiming that there was no villas available in Tuscany?
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: And yeah, but who said it? On Seinfeld?
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: Someone was telling Jerry there were no avail don't don't
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: even try to get one, there's nothing available.
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: But I forget who, right, right, right right? It wasn't
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: one of the main characters.
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: No, yeah, it was like a it's like a Tim
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: Wattley type or one of those.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it might have and Tim Wattley. Actually I'm not sure.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: All right, Matt's gonna look it up. Yeah, see see
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: this one, this one.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: What was your what was your favorite meal? So that's
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: the most important part, Like the I didn't have a
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: bad meal.
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: The orchestra guy, I can't think of it because of
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: an m.
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I didn't have a bad meal. Nothing really stood
- 1:21:24Speaker 5: out as being like the best meal. But I had
- 1:21:26Speaker 5: like a couple of different kinds of veal, just you know,
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: regular like you know, bowl and a's things like that.
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: Got a pizza that was terrific.
- 1:21:36Speaker 5: Restaurants in Italy they do have every imaginable fast food
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: American fast food restaurant McDonald's, Burger King five guys. I
- 1:21:46Speaker 5: didn't see Papacinos, uh, KFC or a lot of KFC's,
- 1:21:52Speaker 5: but I obviously didn't go to any of those.
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: I would have took a five guys in Germany though
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: I did.
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: Yeah, German food wasn't the Italian food and.
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: They had schnitzel. It was great.
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: Yeah, it was not great great. I did have it though.
- 1:22:08Speaker 5: We went to a farm in Tuscany, did like a
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: wine tasting and made our made our own pasta, which
- 1:22:14Speaker 5: was that was probably that was That was a highlight.
- 1:22:16Speaker 5: That was a highlight. Let's I'll say that Colisseum was tremendous. Uh,
- 1:22:20Speaker 5: Sistine Chapel just really really cool.
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: Vatican, Yeah it was. It was a great trip.
- 1:22:28Speaker 5: I would highly recommend it if you have any interest
- 1:22:30Speaker 5: at all and in the history. But it is there's
- 1:22:33Speaker 5: a lot of people. It was a little overwhelming at times.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: Is this the high time for visiting day?
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: They drive like absolute maniacs and every single person smoked cigarettes.
- 1:22:44Speaker 26: Yeah, every everyone nice. Okay, So there's a Paul's trip.
- 1:22:50Speaker 26: No incidents, no incidents, So I couldn't have been what happened.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: Better?
- 1:22:57Speaker 5: And in all the places that we were even like
- 1:22:59Speaker 5: the last night we stayed at this like marina, which
- 1:23:02Speaker 5: was closer to the airport. It was almost like it
- 1:23:04Speaker 5: looked like it was in Florida. It was like palm
- 1:23:06Speaker 5: trees and right on the water, some beautiful boats.
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: It was. It was cool.
- 1:23:11Speaker 5: We're coming home. I'm on the plane and the way home,
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: we land. You know how everybody gets up when you
- 1:23:16Speaker 5: land right, you know, and then you gotta wait like
- 1:23:18Speaker 5: fifteen minutes.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: Pet peeves is are people stand up?
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: So now a lot of people are standing up and
- 1:23:24Speaker 5: they have their bags out, you know. There was I
- 1:23:27Speaker 5: was in the middle row. There was like four in
- 1:23:29Speaker 5: the middle. So there was a woman on the outside
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: and then me. So when the door opens and people
- 1:23:37Speaker 5: start to sort of get their stuff and get ready
- 1:23:39Speaker 5: to go out, the woman next to me then gets
- 1:23:41Speaker 5: up and gets her bag right, and she's waiting for
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: the roast to go and she goes.
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: So then when she goes, I go out. I reach
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: over this old woman's like and I was like, I'm sorry,
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: I'm just gonna get my bag, and she like she
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: yells at me, and.
- 1:24:00Speaker 5: I started laughing because all I could think about was
- 1:24:03Speaker 5: fred I swear to God I thought of Fred, like,
- 1:24:08Speaker 5: I'm in another fight.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: With an old lady. She didn't want you to stand up?
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: Yeah, she goes, oh, just she goes, well, just sit there,
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: and and I was like, I'm just getting my bag,
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: like I couldn't leave without my bag, Like I just
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: had to get my bag out of the overhead the airplane.
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: You didn't have a snarky remark.
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: Yeah I did.
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: I said, usually you just you go by row. Yeah,
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: I said, usually you go by row. And you were
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: going to roll back there and I'm here, good, very good.
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: But that was it.
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: And then I just got her laughing, and I heard
- 1:24:38Speaker 5: her like bi to the woman she was with, and
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: I'm looking at Beth, I go just keep walking. I'm
- 1:24:43Speaker 5: getting yelled at by some old lady.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: The airplane etiquette and first world problem of ours. We
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: travel a lot, We're on airplanes a lot, so you know,
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: maybe we're more versed in that, but like there are
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: so many things that people that like.
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: That, like no, you go, you go, I go, you go.
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: It's not this is only a thing.
- 1:25:04Speaker 5: If she had said to me, I have a like
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: a connected I would be I would be the first
- 1:25:09Speaker 5: guy to jump out of the road and that's someone
- 1:25:11Speaker 5: who's got a connected in flight.
- 1:25:12Speaker 4: Sure all seriousness.
- 1:25:14Speaker 5: I've done it many times. People say excuse me, I
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: have a kick, Say no more, go you get out first.
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: That's not that's not what was happening.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: You go by row, like standing up both at the gate,
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: like when people stand around like they like, just wait
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: until you.
- 1:25:34Speaker 4: Called right and then everybody can get on.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: But here's the thing about that, and I agree you
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: should do that, but with the space above, I understand
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: where people like I don't want to be checking my
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: bag because I want to go, and if you wait
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: too long, you're going to run out of space and
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: they're going to make you check your bag. I blame
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: the airlines for that.
- 1:25:52Speaker 4: I agree.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: The fact that they don't have enough room for each
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: person's bag is ridiculous. Now, if I was running an airline,
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: I know people won't like it because it takes away
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: their ability to charge you more to get on early.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: I would load the plane from the back and I
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: would have a tendon back there and I would I
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: would watch each person put their bag and I would
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: make sure that they're not putting their back where they're
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: not supposed to be and I would load from back
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: to front so that everybody does it in orderly fashion.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: And if you're not there when your row is called,
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: too bad, you have to wait.
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: I'm more talking about like you're in zone seven and
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: they're still calling first class and you know Vet City.
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: People are lined up there. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: So you get up to go and you get behind
- 1:26:34Speaker 4: these people.
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: Are we doing I hear that?
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: Or people that get up when you land you have
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: to immediately get up.
- 1:26:41Speaker 4: But again, if you knew carry them.
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: But again, if you knew that when you got on
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: the plane, regardless of when you got on the plane,
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: you'd have a space above your seat for your bag.
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: People wouldn't be lining up early. They wouldn't be anxious
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: about that. It's it's the airline's fault they.
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: Create idea to freddie your bout.
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: I just think people people have long said they why
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: don't they do it from the back of what they
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: don't whatever reason.
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: Because they can charge you get on early to give
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: us some more money.
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: But if you had, if you have like the flight
- 1:27:13Speaker 5: attendants sort of watching everybody, that's the solution, right, and
- 1:27:19Speaker 5: you have enough help that you no, no, no, you're sitting,
- 1:27:22Speaker 5: you're sitting at twenty four. Put it over you don't
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: put it over there.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: Right and put it in the right way. Oh that
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: little handbag, put it under your seat. You don't need
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: to be taking space up there for your little clutch.
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: I think that these people aren't just selfish, like they just.
- 1:27:35Speaker 4: They don't care selfish.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: They they are selfish, and.
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: They're they have blinders on, and it's like no, like,
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: you know, I'm gonna stand here because I want to
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: stand here, and I don't care if I'm in the way,
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: and I don't care if I'm disrupting the flow of traffic.
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: This is where I want to stay.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: But I do. On the other side, I do get it.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: You know, you brought you packed really efficiently so that
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: you don't have to check a bag right right, and
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: so you want to be able to put the bag
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: above your head.
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: But it doesn't matter. Like if you're in the zone,
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: you're getting on the plane when your zone is called,
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: So whether you stand up there and wait or don't,
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: it's not gonna make you.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: But if I'm in zone seven, chances aren't gonna have
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: to check it back because.
- 1:28:12Speaker 5: They let people in zone six put their stuff in
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: Zone seven, so you can solve it with your I.
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: But they don't do that because they want you, they
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: want you to be anxious. They want you to pay
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: an extra forty dollars to have early entry. I'm telling
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: you it's it's it's all about money. We're getting screwed.
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: The whole airline thing.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: Obviously screwed airlines, I think by in many ways.
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: Well, and then like the few, you know, sort of
- 1:28:39Speaker 5: economy airlines, you know, they're dropping, like fly spirits gone now, like, yeah,
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: you can't, you can't fly anywhere for anything.
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: It's ridiculous. Spirit was kind of it's ridiculous.
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: You pay less and then they charge you up the
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: wazoo for everything out for.
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: All the ex Yeah, James Pettig were the most interesting
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: Patries fan of the world Rights in the only reason
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: we care about the schedule lease was it used to
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: annoy Eric. That is my only frame of reference for
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: the schedule release for the last twenty years. Yeah, Eric
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: didn't like the schedule. Although the schedule I don't need to, you.
- 1:29:11Speaker 5: Know, I'm indifferent to the whole. Like social media, you know,
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: like the whole you know, it's the social media super Bowl.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: Weak.
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: You know, like maybe I'm indifferent to that whole thing.
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: I don't care, but like Eric brought like indifference to it,
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: I do think, and maybe the numbers don't directly back
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: this up the whole it's the social media super Bowl thing.
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: I think that has worn out a little bit.
- 1:29:39Speaker 4: Why we be.
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: I don't think we care as much as I think
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: we peaked with like our Goodwill Hunting spinoff skit. I
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: think that was like the peak of it of interest
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: in that sort of thing, and then ever since then,
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: I've noticed that we're we're going the other way. We
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: are the league that everybody oh the mask.
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: Right, I mean, you know, it might it might kind
- 1:30:02Speaker 4: of wane.
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: I'm not saying people aren't going to watch it or
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: consume it. I'm just saying, yep, that was sort of
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: when it was at the height of its importance.
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: Sean and Shelton, Connecticut wanted to chime in on the
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: best order to watch Star Wars films. Paul, you didn't
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: answer that question.
- 1:30:18Speaker 4: I didn't answer. I'm not qualified to the expert.
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: I respect the machete order as you watch it in
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: the following order. Have you heard of the machete order?
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: I haven't heard that, Matt, you're shaking your head.
- 1:30:31Speaker 4: Yes, I couldn't it off the top of my head,
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: but I have.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: Well, he's got it the episode. I'll name it in how.
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: Should watch the movie?
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: It's four, five, one, two, three, six. This offers better
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: narrative flow for the first time viewers, ending with the
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: twist in episode five to show the rise of Darth
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: Vader before the showdown in episode six?
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: Why would you go back to one and were assuming
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: that one is Phantom Menace, which I disagree with, but
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: one is Phantom Menace? Why would you go four? And
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: five are New Hope Empire and then you're gonna go back.
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: To otherwise known as the only two that I've seen.
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: The origin after that, I don't under I don't understand
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: how that follows, like the.
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: What do you think of that?
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: Fred?
- 1:31:17Speaker 4: You're I consider you, yeah, an expert.
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: As I said, I've only watched them in the order
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: that they were released, so I don't know any better.
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: And my fear is that, like I know how I
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: got hooked on episode four, which for me was episode one,
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: and I'm afraid that if you start somewhere else, a
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: new viewer won't get as hooked on it as I was.
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: I know, I agree, I agree wholeheartedly, I think, but
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: maybe I don't know. Like my my cousin, who's you know,
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: ten twelve years younger than I am, he started watching
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: Star Wars with the.
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: New stuff and he got hooked on Anyboddy would watch it?
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: Want you know how many other Oh, there's no nine movies,
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: but then you gotta have Rogue one is a tenth.
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: There's really Like I wonder if if anybody now would
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: watch them one through nine as opposed to starting at four.
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: Right, I think that you probably should. From a story arc,
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: that's how it's meant to be put together. But to
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: friend's point, like I would worry that Phantom Menace, which
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: has its moments and has good parts but isn't really
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: a great movie. You would be like, really, this is
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: what all the fuss is about, you know, and kind
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: of and then you get to Attack of the Clones
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: is the next one You're gonna be like, Okay, now
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: I'm really not interesting.
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: So basically it's ball You don't think those are all
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: that good?
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: Correct?
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: So you don't want people to start with those because
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: you don't like them?
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: Correct? I think Phantom Menace has its moments and has
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: a little bit of a like a renaissance, like a resurgence.
- 1:32:49Speaker 4: Like that I have now because I didn't see it.
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: It's it's watchable, So that's the best compliment I can
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: give it. Uh.
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: Jadarius writes in glad to see you back, Paul, Hope
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: you enjoyed your vacation. Just wanted to thank you for
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: all the talks on all varieties of topics every season
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: and off season. I go home next month after nine
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: years in prison and listening to this podcast really helped me,
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: So thank you all so much, and I'm forever grateful
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: to you. Guys.
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: Well, good luck on you outside, good luck with that,
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: good luck.
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: On your journey back. And you did your time, so
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: hopefully life gets a lot better after that.
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: Are we We have a lot of I can tell
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: you that I've gotten my fair share of mail.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: We get the prison mail, yep, Chris and Foxborough. During
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: the episode on Thursday, Evan casually mentioned that he was
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: a conspiracy theorist. I need to know the most extreme
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: theory he believes in. I need to know if this
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: is birds aren't real or basic one like the landing
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: was a hoax, which it obviously was. I'd love to
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: hear everyone's answer to the questions as well. I can't
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: wait to hear the answers, and I hope Alex is
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: on the show to hear her what she thinks might
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: be the most extreme. So what's the most extreme conspiracy
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: theory that you believe in?
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: These always get me in trouble, But I've been down
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: the rabbit hole of the moon landing, and I question,
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: I'm skeptical for sure, people like you are.
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: That was interest that one.
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: That's why I said it always gets me in trouble.
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: That one I'm definitely a little bit skeptical of. But
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: I think that watching people like Buzz Aldrin and Neil
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: Armstrong react to people that think that they didn't actually
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: land on the Moon, I'm like, you know, probably you
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: know how.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: Many people would have to be plan on the hoax
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: for that to be a hoax?
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: Like, I don't really want to go down this road,
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: but you know, like there are just certain elements of
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: it that were a little bit.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: Paul, do you have a conspiracy theory that I have
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: a lot that I want to well a conspiracy theories? No,
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: that's fact, Okay, yeah, no, but I mean, like, are
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: they considered by other people conspiracy theory?
- 1:35:06Speaker 4: No, I think that probably are.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: Well, it's a conspiracy if you believe that the government
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: is withholding information.
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: That's aspirit That's what I'm saying.
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: Yeah, so if you believe in aliens, you believe in
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: a conspiracy theory. Why because in order to if aliens
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: are true, then the government is withholding information.
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: Oh uh yeah, but I think that we like know
- 1:35:24Speaker 2: that there is living organisms on other planets. I think so,
- 1:35:27Speaker 2: and those would be considered aliens.
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: Well, there's actually I think.
- 1:35:31Speaker 4: How we ever know? You don't believe in any space travel?
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: Well, so here's the thing about the moon landing. I
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: came around on that one. I agree that we probably did.
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: I think that there are there's evidence that certain things
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: were maybe doctor is the wrong word, but like exaggerated
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: or whatever. Like I'm not one hundred percent.
- 1:35:54Speaker 4: No, not on that.
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: Elvis been down that road before, and like he's obviously
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: dead now, but did he die when they say he'd
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: say he died, I'm not sure about that.
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: I'm amazing didn't die before that? Did you see him
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: when he was?
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: There was some really good hard evidence of a private
- 1:36:13Speaker 2: plane flying out of the airport locally nearby, and pictures
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: on the tarmac of Elvis and things like that that
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: were very compelling, you know, things like that.
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: I have any like real, like real conspiracy theories that
- 1:36:32Speaker 5: I'm strong. I mean, like your alien thing would probably
- 1:36:35Speaker 5: you know, I think it's kind of naive to think
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: that this is the only planet that has any life.
- 1:36:40Speaker 5: So I guess that would be a conspiracy theory, because
- 1:36:42Speaker 5: you're right, the government has probably suppressed some information on that,
- 1:36:47Speaker 5: right well, the UFOs.
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: Or supposedly they released all these videos and I'm still
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: waiting for like, okay, there it is.
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: Right well, because I think that not to make this
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: a whole thing, but I think when you're thinking of aliens,
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: you're thinking of like popping up and like, here's this
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: like human life, intelligent life. Well, it doesn't have to
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: necessarily be intelligent.
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: Oh no, I mean that could be bacteria somewhere or whatever,
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: you know, or an organism in a long ago dried
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: up river. Yeah, I mean, that's that's life obviously, that constitution.
- 1:37:19Speaker 5: But I think what I do, like Trump on that,
- 1:37:22Speaker 5: you know, let them let them see it and make
- 1:37:25Speaker 5: their own draw their own conclusions.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: But but you know, the conspiracy is that we've been
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: contacted and that the government's withholding it.
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: Yes, I don't know that that would be a conspiracy,
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: but the fact that there's definitely things that are alive
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: that are on other planets, I don't know. Definitely I think,
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: I mean, I'm pretty sure definitely.
- 1:37:49Speaker 5: Okay, Well, I see, that's why I would sort of
- 1:37:51Speaker 5: believe something like that. I don't know if I could
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: say definitely.
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: I I am a conspiracy guy, but it's it's more frivolous,
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: like you know how many times spread of OVID, you know, like.
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: I'm not freeze, no, but I'm not buying that.
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: But basically I'm not buying it when I hear like
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: sort of explanations of things like that doesn't pass the
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: sniff test. Like I don't know, like those kinds of things,
- 1:38:18Speaker 5: like I believe, I do believe that the original draft
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: lottery Patrick Ewing, I believe that was fixed.
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: Oh, I mean it's been fixed multiple times, you know,
- 1:38:26Speaker 2: but I believe that one in particular was fixed. Yeah,
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: I don't know that for sure.
- 1:38:31Speaker 5: But like those kinds of things, again, frivolous, that's not
- 1:38:35Speaker 5: really harming anybody. I think there's a million of those
- 1:38:39Speaker 5: that I would absolutely if you said, no, no, no,
- 1:38:41Speaker 5: I buy that one. Yeah no, I that that one.
- 1:38:46Speaker 5: I almost never just accept something yet fit. We could
- 1:38:51Speaker 5: talk about COVID for forever. Like I don't accept a
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: lot of things at face value. I think Fauci's a crook,
- 1:38:57Speaker 5: you know. As an example, I think there was a
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: lot of off going on there which is coming out,
- 1:39:03Speaker 5: which is coming out now, by the way. But I
- 1:39:06Speaker 5: thought it then, I thought there was I thought the
- 1:39:07Speaker 5: way we handled the whole thing was well terrible. But
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: that again, I'm an idiot and I cover sports. It's again,
- 1:39:15Speaker 5: most of the things that I'm talking about are frivolous.
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: Caroline, California. John writes in Love the Show and the
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: newsletter and the off season topics, and yes, Thursday's open
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: was among the best ever. Just as great it was
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: the discussion of the Big Bang. So I wanted to
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: bend everyone's brain with the sentence that starts off Neil
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: deGrasse Tyson's book Astrophysics for People in a Hurry. In
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: the beginning nearly fourteen billion years ago, all the space
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: and all the matter and all the energy of the
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: known universe was contained in a volume less than one
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: trillionth the size of a period. That ends this sentence,
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: that speck this is now unquote, that spec one trillionth
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: the size of a period was all there was, all
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: there is now, in all there will ever be. There
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: was not even space outside that unimaginably small dot. And yes,
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: no one knows what came before Alex, It's time for
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: that beer in a campfire. And ps Evan was one
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: hundred percent correct. Star Wars since seventy seven was the
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: only real thing. The rest are just jumping the shark.
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: So a lot of people get like fascinated about like, oh,
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: we're just like a speck in the same That doesn't
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: do it for me. I just don't really like, you know,
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: like when like they were traveling around the Moon recently
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: and they took the pictures of them looking at Earth
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: from space and everybody lost their minds. It's like, yeah,
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: it's you don't.
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: You don't.
- 1:40:41Speaker 4: That doesn't It just doesn't move me.
- 1:40:43Speaker 2: I don't know, Okay, Well I was like, yeah, it's
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: a picture of Earth.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: You are a cold fish.
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: No, I don't know why what What's like?
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: I don't get it, it's okay.
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: It just doesn't like you know, like your analytics and
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: you like your cold hard. I have numbers and that's
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: X and o's and that's you. You do you cool?
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: You do you?
- 1:41:03Speaker 21: I I.
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: Choose to be amazed at what's around me and be
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: grateful for everything that you know, it's bigger than me.
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: I think that that is something that my generation misses. Yeah,
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: I don't think we're I don't think we I don't
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: think we're amazed. We're too caught up in what were
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: we got going on to be like, okay, he took
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: a picture.
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: Thanks uh, Andrew Norris, who's a Navy veteran, thank you
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: for your service. Rights in I'm an airline pilot now,
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: and I've absolutely noticed over the last year or so
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: a lot more people trying to barge forward as soon
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: as everyone stands up. So true for Star Wars, starting
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: with episode one is a terrible idea. I've been trying
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: to get my best friends to watch Star Wars for years.
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: We're in our forty so I have no idea how
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: he hasn't seen them. He started with episode one and
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: couldn't get through it once seen with jar Jar Binks
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: and he was done with Star Wars forever. It's kind
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: of my point. Keep up the great work. You guys
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: kept being a Patriots fan fund you keep it fun
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: for five years when the football was terrible. Pump, We're back.
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: So thanks, thank you, thank you for your service. In
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: your email, David Maine, I'm sure you sworn to secrecy,
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: but do you guys know the schedule already? Do the
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: coaches know? Does anyone outside the league office already know?
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: Just curious?
- 1:42:21Speaker 23: We don't know.
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: We don't have it. And yeah and outside of that
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: league office, very few people would know. Now, maybe like
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: a network exect knows, you know, in the big networks
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: that pay billions of dollars, maybe they give it, are
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: giving a heads up, and there are leaks, so obviously
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: somebody knows, but we we don't know.
- 1:42:44Speaker 4: I do like looking at leaked schedules, Yeah, because.
- 1:42:49Speaker 2: Right, yeah, well because the one that didn't have Seattle
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: on it.
- 1:42:52Speaker 5: Yeah, that was what I was just gonna mention. You know,
- 1:42:54Speaker 5: when you just look like, okay, that's wrong. You know,
- 1:42:59Speaker 5: has admitted that he just made it?
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, No. Usually, even like when I worked
- 1:43:04Speaker 2: at the NFL network, it was the same cadence as
- 1:43:06Speaker 2: it is here. We didn't find out until the morning
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: of usually or maybe the night before. But it was
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: all just to create content. It was near create graphics
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: and pair all that kind of stuff. But yeah, we
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: wouldn't find out. Yeah, there have been years like ied.
- 1:43:21Speaker 5: We used to write a lot of like analysis kind
- 1:43:23Speaker 5: of stuff, and you know, we don't do as you
- 1:43:26Speaker 5: know more it's now like more about the content and
- 1:43:28Speaker 5: the video and all that stuff. So there were times
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: that I would find out about it beforehand, but I
- 1:43:34Speaker 5: haven't found out about it until after it's released now
- 1:43:36Speaker 5: for a good ten years.
- 1:43:38Speaker 2: Yeah, Deuce usually right, So I'll find out.
- 1:43:40Speaker 4: I'll find out Friday morning.
- 1:43:41Speaker 2: Yeah, Douce will have an analysis right up on it, and.
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: You know what, you'll know just as much as the
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: people who found out the night before. Yeah.
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: Yeah, and it'll be you know, it'd be fine. I'll
- 1:43:49Speaker 5: be I'll be on time for the first game. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: we'll be well hopefully.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: Alex in Pennsylvania, Evans said there is at least a
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: very high likelihood of life on other planets. What is
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: one example. If there is no such example, then his
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: reason for believing is illogical and irrational.
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: Okay, well, those are some strong words.
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: What's your basis for believing? What's your evidence? I don't know,
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: you don't have any, but I can understand with the
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: vastness of the universe and the billions of different planets
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: and stars, to say that there's no chance of life elsewhere?
- 1:44:24Speaker 2: Is I find that rational? Like you're telling me, I'm irrational.
- 1:44:28Speaker 2: I think it's pretty irrational to think that we are
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: the only planet that has life on it.
- 1:44:33Speaker 4: And that's my entire age, and that's kind of how
- 1:44:35Speaker 4: I feel.
- 1:44:36Speaker 5: I think it would be kind of naive to think
- 1:44:37Speaker 5: we're the only ones that were able to well at.
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: This moment in time, we're the only ones that can
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: identify it in this.
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: Moment in time. It might be true because the amount
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: of time that we are, have existed and will exist
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: is less than a snap of a finger. So now
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: you're trying to say that there's multiple existences within that
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: snap of a finger, It's more likely that there were
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: existing is outside of that brief moment of time.
- 1:45:02Speaker 2: Right, But we also know that, like this is our
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: solar system, and then there's other solarsise and we cannot
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: reach them yet, right, So we can barely reach the
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: Moon successfully, right, So the fact so the like to
- 1:45:16Speaker 2: think that we're sling shotting around it. Now, come on,
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: we didn't even land on it right around. But apparently
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: we land on in nineteen sixty nine. But we can't
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: land on it now we can if we will want to. Okay,
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: uh and.
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: Really he's so that that's his thoughts. Yeah, but he's
- 1:45:33Speaker 4: he's in he's in trench.
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: Okay a little bit. Yeah, I think I think it's
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: it's pretty crazy that, like, so, I know they wanted
- 1:45:41Speaker 2: to fire around the moon to plan to go to
- 1:45:44Speaker 2: the Moon and then we're going to use that as
- 1:45:45Speaker 2: like a lily pad to the to Mars. That's the plan, right,
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: The long term plan is actually.
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: They're gaining the gaining data for that.
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: Yeah, the long term plan is to get to Mars.
- 1:45:55Speaker 2: But we supposedly went to the moon in nineteen sixty nine,
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: correct and out, and now it took fifty years later.
- 1:46:03Speaker 2: We can't just go to the moon.
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: It's all about money. There was no reason to spend
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: the money.
- 1:46:09Speaker 2: They had nose, but it was okay to fly around it.
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: Because now there the idea of going to Mars is
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: more tangible. Back then it wasn't I'll be impressed when
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: we get to Mars. I don't think we'll see it.
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: Well you might.
- 1:46:24Speaker 2: What do you mean they said that we're going to
- 1:46:25Speaker 2: try to do it in like five years, we're going
- 1:46:27Speaker 2: to start working on it. Well, this is my point.
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: It's like we got I won't come on.
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: Yeah. Anyway, look, I'm gonna bring it some Reynolds wrap.
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: You can put it on your head, because you really
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: sound like a tinfoil No.
- 1:46:40Speaker 2: No, no, I said it before that. I can see
- 1:46:43Speaker 2: that we probably landed on the moon.
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: Thanks, you're welcome. Neil Armstrong, thanks you.
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: Well he punched the guy or is that buzz Aldrid
- 1:46:51Speaker 2: One of them punched the guy in the face. No,
- 1:46:55Speaker 2: I think it was buzz Aldred or was it? I
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: think so that was John Glenn.
- 1:46:58Speaker 4: Anyway, we did land on the moon, too bad, punched
- 1:47:01Speaker 4: in the face. That would have been funny.
- 1:47:03Speaker 2: I said, we did land on the mood.
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: Good.
- 1:47:09Speaker 7: I'm gonna knock you to the moon.
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: Anthony says, my favorite sports conspiracy is that Michael Jordan's
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: dad was killed by the mob in his first retirement
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: was to protect the league from discussing MJ's gambling issues
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: and potentially betting on games. What are your favorite sports conspiracies?
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: I would say that that one is actually, now was
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: it the mob or was it just a bad.
- 1:47:32Speaker 4: Group of people, like a gambling debt?
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: Right, is separate things, But that one I wouldn't even
- 1:47:38Speaker 2: call that conspiracy theory necessarily because there's actual tangible evidence
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: that that might have been the case. No, but it
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: would be the conspiracy theory would be that the the
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: NBA actually suspended Jordan for gambling, right, and he deemed
- 1:47:53Speaker 2: it a retirement when and played baseball.
- 1:47:55Speaker 4: That's a conspiracy thing a little bit, And that's a
- 1:47:57Speaker 4: really good one. But I think that one.
- 1:47:59Speaker 2: Also does have like as far as conspiracy theories go,
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: that one has a lot of evidence.
- 1:48:04Speaker 4: Well that's generally you know, and some sort of interest
- 1:48:09Speaker 4: you know, like like reality.
- 1:48:11Speaker 2: Yeah, sometimes the main one is not reality. Like we
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: we all can agree that that.
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: Like, like, you know, there's people that I mean, you
- 1:48:20Speaker 4: can do anything.
- 1:48:20Speaker 5: There's people that don't think that nine to eleven attacks
- 1:48:23Speaker 5: really happened, right, that's true, right, like you, I mean.
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: You can make up anything in your head. I'm talking
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: like legit, Sandy Hook. I just think the sports conspiracies
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: I find to be more maybe because it's less kind
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: of less stakes, like we're not talking about things like
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: you know that major. But I think that there's a
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: lot of validity to a lot of the things that
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: we kind of think are going on.
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: So let's think of some besides Michael Jordan.
- 1:48:51Speaker 5: Well, I think like Paul brought up that Patrick Ewing
- 1:48:54Speaker 5: draft lottery him going to the Knicks.
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: To me that I think every I think every single
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: lottery is fixed. I think they're all fixed. Oh boy, Well,
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: I don't think that because I don't think it's like
- 1:49:03Speaker 2: fixed is like not even the right word, Like you
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: don't think that they're somewhat like.
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: I think there might have been instances, but again there's
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: a lot of people involved, and in today's world that
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: would get out.
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: But I think that there's a difference between like we're
- 1:49:18Speaker 2: going to put our finger on the scale for this
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: team versus that team, versus like it being some like
- 1:49:24Speaker 2: wild conspiracy like for instance, the Dallas Mavericks trade Luka
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: Doncic in one of the most embarrassing trades in the
- 1:49:31Speaker 2: history of the league and then get the number one
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: overall pick then in the draft that happens to have
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: a superstar generational talent at the top of the draft.
- 1:49:40Speaker 2: But that is not There's no way that that was
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: just simply luck that they just that they Let's also
- 1:49:48Speaker 2: not forget that they had some of the worst odds
- 1:49:50Speaker 2: to win the lottery and they somehow won the lottery. Like,
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: that's not so there has to have been something that
- 1:49:56Speaker 2: happened there some of those you know.
- 1:49:57Speaker 5: And I understand what you're saying. You think all lotteries
- 1:49:59Speaker 5: are fixed. I just in eighty five, I think it
- 1:50:02Speaker 5: was when they had the first lottery. There are a
- 1:50:08Speaker 5: lot of reasons why you could say it was in
- 1:50:10Speaker 5: the NBA's best interest to have Patrick Ewen go to
- 1:50:13Speaker 5: the Knicks. Yeah, what's the like, what's in it for
- 1:50:18Speaker 5: the NBA to have Cooper Flag go to the Mavericks
- 1:50:20Speaker 5: other than to like help the Mavericks because they made
- 1:50:23Speaker 5: a very bad trade.
- 1:50:24Speaker 2: No, no, See, if you want to go full tinfoil
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: hat on this, you have to take it to go
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: step back. The incentive for the NBA was to get
- 1:50:33Speaker 2: Luka Doncics on the Lakers.
- 1:50:36Speaker 4: So okay, so you trade you trade him to the
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: Lakers and we'll give it.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: We'll make this.
- 1:50:41Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's good. I'll give you credit. That's that's
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: I'm not saying that that's what happened. Just for the record,
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: we're doing conspiracy theories.
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: Yes, that's a good next level thought because that's how
- 1:50:50Speaker 5: you draw from A to B to get to see
- 1:50:52Speaker 5: it was very odd that when Luka Doncic got traded
- 1:50:55Speaker 5: that like seventy five percent of the NBA didn't even
- 1:50:58Speaker 5: know he was available. And if you have a player
- 1:51:01Speaker 5: like that, why wouldn't you be shopping a player of
- 1:51:03Speaker 5: that caliber to up the price to as many people
- 1:51:06Speaker 5: as possible and have an open bidding war for a
- 1:51:08Speaker 5: player like that. And the fact that he just happened
- 1:51:11Speaker 5: to go to one of the most popular, most decorated
- 1:51:13Speaker 5: franchises in the league doesn't seem like a by accident thing.
- 1:51:18Speaker 5: And then the next draft lottery, all of a sudden
- 1:51:20Speaker 5: they have the number one pin.
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: Yeah. I think when it comes to sports, there's more
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: injustices than conspiracies, Like, for example, the Americans losing to
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: the Russians in basketball that year. You know, there was
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: like so many things that happen at the end of
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: that game.
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: That game was fixed.
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: Oh you think it was fixed.
- 1:51:36Speaker 4: I think there was corruption with the officiating.
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: Yeah, so that could be.
- 1:51:39Speaker 5: That's not necessarily a conspiracy, you know what I mean.
- 1:51:43Speaker 5: That's like, like you said, I like your word injustice.
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:51:47Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a million of those.
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: I mean.
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: Tim donaghy was literally found to have been fixing games
- 1:51:52Speaker 2: in the NBA one rogue official but again conspiracy to
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: cover up yep.
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: I got in trouble with the Twitter sphere this weekend, Paul,
- 1:52:03Speaker 2: because I was complaining about the refs. They don't like
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: that very much. Watching the Spurs Wolves game on Sunday night,
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: Wemby through the throws an elbow. It was not a
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: good look. He obviously should not have done that. So
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: I'm watching the game though, I turned on the game
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: and all I'm doing and what I don't have any
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: rooting interest in the game. I'm turning on the game
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: to watch one person, Victor Wimbeyama. But in five minutes
- 1:52:30Speaker 2: of watching the game, he throws an elbow, gets thrown out.
- 1:52:32Speaker 2: So I did said on Twitter, well, that's that was stupid, right.
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: Like the stupid to throw the elbow or kick him out.
- 1:52:39Speaker 4: Kick him out.
- 1:52:41Speaker 5: I So I don't have much of a problem with
- 1:52:43Speaker 5: him getting thrown out of the game. I think he
- 1:52:45Speaker 5: should have been fined, but I don't think you should
- 1:52:47Speaker 5: have been suspended, right because especially the suspension, especially because
- 1:52:52Speaker 5: of that, Like if if it was, like, you know,
- 1:52:54Speaker 5: with five minutes left in the game, then you could
- 1:52:56Speaker 5: make another argument.
- 1:52:57Speaker 4: But like that was that was pretty early in the game.
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: That was football incident a year or two. I think
- 1:53:02Speaker 4: it was on the guy.
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: It was the opening game of the season, right, and
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: he's spit on the guy and he got he served
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: the suspension that the whole game.
- 1:53:09Speaker 2: Yeah, they're just I think there's you know, not instance,
- 1:53:13Speaker 2: like all these we have to collectively understand that we
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: are all either consuming it on at home or there
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: to watch the players play.
- 1:53:25Speaker 4: I understand whatever they want because he's the star.
- 1:53:29Speaker 2: I get that, But at the same time, like I
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: just there has to be it's a it's a big
- 1:53:35Speaker 2: playoff game. Him getting thrown out of that game, I know,
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: the elbow, not that people care on this show, but
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: him getting thrown out of that game completely changed the series,
- 1:53:43Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: But if they had just thrown him out, then I
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: think that would be the conspiracy.
- 1:53:47Speaker 5: I mean, you could so you could do this a
- 1:53:49Speaker 5: million times the year that the Warriors blew the three
- 1:53:52Speaker 5: to one lead to to Lebron.
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: Yeah, they kicked Raymond out which completely changed the series.
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:53:59Speaker 4: The solution to that Draymond stop being a dink people
- 1:54:03Speaker 4: in the junk.
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: I just think that there needs to be a little
- 1:54:06Speaker 2: bit more you don't get.
- 1:54:06Speaker 4: Thrown out of the game and the series doesn't turn.
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: There needs to be a little bit of a higher
- 1:54:10Speaker 2: threshold and play there is.
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: But you like that you have to do something.
- 1:54:15Speaker 5: But I could easily sit there and go on the
- 1:54:17Speaker 5: other side of the argument, which I do often.
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: I just play both sides of arguments, and you could say, well.
- 1:54:22Speaker 2: That was a conspiracy theory because they wanted Lebron to
- 1:54:24Speaker 2: be the conquering hero and win one for Cleveland.
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:54:27Speaker 2: I wouldn't go that far, but I you know.
- 1:54:30Speaker 4: Like they didn't have to do that.
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: All right. A couple couple of calls to end the show,
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: because we're getting to the end. Mike is in Vermont.
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: What's up, Mike?
- 1:54:40Speaker 10: How you doing?
- 1:54:41Speaker 4: Guys?
- 1:54:41Speaker 10: I'm gonna I'm gonna bring us back from the moon
- 1:54:44Speaker 10: to Foxborough if you don't mind. And I love the show.
- 1:54:46Speaker 10: Thank you with all the talk with Brown, and I
- 1:54:50Speaker 10: just I just turned on the show because my honeydew
- 1:54:53Speaker 10: list is all completed. But all with all the talk
- 1:54:56Speaker 10: with Brown and his coming after June, and I hope
- 1:55:01Speaker 10: I'm not being repetitive here, is that Is there any
- 1:55:04Speaker 10: hypothetical way that the Patriots staff looks at the players
- 1:55:11Speaker 10: they have now on the field and take a step
- 1:55:14Speaker 10: back and stay, really, we can do it with the
- 1:55:18Speaker 10: people we have here now. I'm not against the trade
- 1:55:22Speaker 10: because I saw it Moss did for us on our offense.
- 1:55:27Speaker 10: So hypothetically, what is that possibility or is that a stretch?
- 1:55:33Speaker 10: And I'll be off the line and take the call.
- 1:55:36Speaker 2: Thanks again, guys, Okay, I don't I guess I don't
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: understand that anything's possible.
- 1:55:43Speaker 5: I mean, is he's saying hypothetically they won't make the
- 1:55:45Speaker 5: trade because they feel better about what they have.
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: I guess, like I just don't. I guess maybe I'm
- 1:55:50Speaker 2: looking at the player differently, Like what's the downside of
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: taking a swing on AJ Brown?
- 1:55:57Speaker 10: Like?
- 1:55:58Speaker 7: What?
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: What?
- 1:55:58Speaker 7: Like?
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: I guess maybe the draft pick commentation.
- 1:56:00Speaker 5: Yeah, you lose, you lose some resources and potentially your
- 1:56:06Speaker 5: impacting your offense in a negative way. If he doesn't
- 1:56:09Speaker 5: pan out, like, because clearly you're making a trade with
- 1:56:11Speaker 5: the idea that he's going to be your number one guy.
- 1:56:13Speaker 4: So if he doesn't pan out, you've.
- 1:56:16Speaker 2: Lost something like in your mind you're thinking he's gonna
- 1:56:19Speaker 2: have an impact on your off this risk, I think
- 1:56:22Speaker 2: there's pretty little risk in terms of like I agree
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: him this year if you want to have a conversation
- 1:56:27Speaker 2: about the trade compensation and all that, I guess, but like,
- 1:56:30Speaker 2: I have no doubt that if they acquired A J. Brown,
- 1:56:32Speaker 2: he would be a productive player for that.
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: Michael is in Virginia Beach.
- 1:56:37Speaker 13: Hey, Michael, Hey, how you got it doing today?
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: Good?
- 1:56:41Speaker 8: Good?
- 1:56:42Speaker 13: So two things.
- 1:56:43Speaker 19: One, I was actually at that game in Buffalo that
- 1:56:45Speaker 19: y'all were talking about earlier two thousand and six.
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: Yeah, wild game.
- 1:56:47Speaker 20: When Jackson's.
- 1:56:50Speaker 10: Trust me it was it was nuts.
- 1:56:52Speaker 2: But when I heard someone right didn't say it was
- 1:56:55Speaker 2: irrational that Evan thought that way about believing there's life.
- 1:56:58Speaker 10: Because there's no proof or anything.
- 1:57:00Speaker 13: To me, that's always what a belief is. Belief is
- 1:57:02Speaker 13: believing in something without knowledge of it. You either know
- 1:57:05Speaker 13: it where you believe it. One of the two things,
- 1:57:07Speaker 13: it's kind of calling them to stick.
- 1:57:08Speaker 12: Up for Evan.
- 1:57:08Speaker 10: I'm the same way. I don't know what's out there,
- 1:57:12Speaker 10: but I can I believe.
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: I choose to believe.
- 1:57:15Speaker 22: I thought they're just makes sense.
- 1:57:16Speaker 2: Yeah, but like I don't.
- 1:57:18Speaker 19: I don't believe, like payment's hard because I go out there.
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: I know what.
- 1:57:22Speaker 13: Yeah, that was just I was like, it's not really
- 1:57:24Speaker 13: a I didn't think it was a fair way.
- 1:57:26Speaker 4: To come at it.
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: Well, I think someone was. They were kind of trolling
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: Evan because Evan. Evan likes to be so factual when
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: it comes to some things, but then in others he
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: suspends belief.
- 1:57:36Speaker 15: But that's kind of why I like him too.
- 1:57:37Speaker 13: It's like, you should listening to everything.
- 1:57:38Speaker 4: Yeah cool, but you guys have.
- 1:57:41Speaker 20: An amazing day.
- 1:57:42Speaker 13: It's always a pleasure to listen to you guys who always.
- 1:57:44Speaker 20: Keep the phone and keep it light.
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: Thank you, Michael, Michael all the way from Virginia Beach
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: to stick up for you.
- 1:57:49Speaker 2: That's a valid point I about that. I usually am
- 1:57:52Speaker 2: like the you know right, analytical and you take it.
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: You take offense when people don't face their opinions about
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: football based on fact.
- 1:58:03Speaker 2: That's true. I never thought of that, so a different
- 1:58:07Speaker 2: side of my fact.
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: So football is more important than life to you.
- 1:58:12Speaker 2: My wife would probably agree with that.
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go, it's probably all right. We've we've
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: come to a conclusion. We've we've got a little bit
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: of insight into the psyche of Evan Lazar.
- 1:58:22Speaker 2: That's that's steep, guys.
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: So you know, I'll send you a bill for this
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: therapy session. All right, that's going to be it for
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. We have more therapy tomorrow
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: at noon with you and Barth.
- 1:58:37Speaker 2: Yeah, this is where you are the therapist of Barth.
- 1:58:40Speaker 14: Right.
- 1:58:41Speaker 2: Sometimes, Yeah, sometimes we'll talk about Ricky Minnie Camp a
- 1:58:44Speaker 2: little bit more detailed because we were both. He was
- 1:58:46Speaker 2: also there, so we'll be able to taka. Well, I'm
- 1:58:50Speaker 2: just being honest.
- 1:58:53Speaker 4: Yeah, he was. We were there, you were on your couch,
- 1:58:57Speaker 4: We were there. I was running around. There's no need
- 1:58:59Speaker 4: for you to be there.
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: I was running around.
- 1:59:02Speaker 2: That's what you paid me to do.
- 1:59:04Speaker 4: To do a Saturday. I don't think we would have
- 1:59:06Speaker 4: needed three people to be there. I don't think I
- 1:59:08Speaker 4: would have been there. Well, just likes to be there.
- 1:59:10Speaker 2: To be there. You don't do.
- 1:59:12Speaker 4: Outside be here.
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: All right, So that's on Wednesday, we'll be back on Thursday.
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: See you then, Hey, this is Deuce.
