- 0:08Speaker 1: Ever have that one movie everyone assumes you've seen, but
- 0:11Speaker 1: you haven't?
- 0:13Speaker 2: You know the one. The classic.
- 0:15Speaker 3: The cult favorite.
- 0:16Speaker 1: The how-have-you-not-seen-that movie. Welcome to The Shameless Picture Show. Twice
- 0:22Speaker 1: a month, I sit down with the guests who finally
- 0:24Speaker 1: cross one of those films off our shame lists. Sometimes
- 0:27Speaker 1: it's their first watch, and sometimes it's mine. But sometimes, it's.
- 0:32Speaker 2: New for both of us. Then we dive in. The characters.
- 0:36Speaker 3: The craft.
- 0:36Speaker 1: The cultural impact.
- 0:38Speaker 2: And whether it actually lives.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Up to the hype.
- 0:41Speaker 1: From legendary classics to cult oddities to the films we
- 0:44Speaker 1: somehow missed along the way, join us as we turn
- 0:48Speaker 1: movie shame into movie discussion. This is The Shameless Picture Show.
- 0:56Speaker 2: You are now listening to the Someone's Favorite Productions Podcast Network.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Thank you. Thank you. Welcome back to a brand new
- 1:51Speaker 4: episode of the Beyond the Blood podcast. This is the
- 1:53Speaker 4: podcast where we dive into movies that we love through
- 1:55Speaker 4: their audio commentaries, but.
- 2:20Speaker 2: We're back for another Staff Picks episode. And this is
- 2:24Speaker 2: the show where we kind of put the commentaries aside,
- 2:28Speaker 2: just kind of talk about movies we love, whether they
- 2:30Speaker 2: have a commentary track or not. Maybe the commentary track
- 2:32Speaker 2: isn't great. Maybe we couldn't pull a lot from it.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Who cares? It just gives us a great excuse to
- 2:38Speaker 2: talk about movies that we love. As always, my name
- 2:42Speaker 2: is Chris Higgins, and I'm joined by my best good pal, Steve,
- 2:45Speaker 2: from After Hours Video.
- 2:47Speaker 3: What's happening, man? I'm very excited to talk Friday the
- 2:50Speaker 3: 13th Part 3.
- 2:52Speaker 2: In 3D. 3D.
- 2:54Speaker 3: This episode is coming at everyone who's listening in 3D.
- 2:57Speaker 2: A new dimension of podcasting.
- 2:59Speaker 3: A new dimension of fear.
- 3:02Speaker 2: You are about 12 hours away from heading out to Scarefest, man.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Are you excited?
- 3:09Speaker 3: I'm very excited. I am very eager to go see
- 3:14Speaker 3: everyone there and.
- 3:17Speaker 3: You know, once a year that I always look forward
- 3:18Speaker 3: to this, this convention. So, uh, yeah, it should be
- 3:22Speaker 3: a good time. Hopefully, uh, good to see lots of
- 3:26Speaker 3: new faces and old favorites.
- 3:30Speaker 2: That's awesome, man. I wish I was going with you, dude.
- 3:33Speaker 3: It's never too late.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I'll road trip out to you. And then, and then
- 3:37Speaker 2: we can road trip together.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Out to, we might make it just in time.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Hey, listen for the last day. Yeah, this was one.
- 3:52Speaker 2: We were talking about trying to do a little bit
- 3:54Speaker 2: more Halloween stuff. And while Friday the 13th Part 3
- 3:57Speaker 2: has nothing to do with Halloween, we skipped Friday the
- 4:02Speaker 2: 13th Part 2. We decided we're not going to. I
- 4:06Speaker 2: guess we'll go back and do that one eventually.
- 4:08Speaker 3: We will. We have to.
- 4:10Speaker 2: We decided to jump into Part 3 in 3D. there
- 4:14Speaker 2: is a commentary track for this. Uh, I am sure
- 4:18Speaker 2: it's on previous releases, but it is on the, uh,
- 4:21Speaker 2: screen factory Blu-ray. There's a cast commentary. I did not
- 4:25Speaker 2: get a chance to give it a listen. Um, you
- 4:28Speaker 2: checked out a little bit of it said that it
- 4:30Speaker 2: was enjoyable, but not as informative. I think that's how
- 4:34Speaker 2: you said it.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, it's, it's cool to, so the commentary
- 4:39Speaker 3: just for a little bit of context it's got Larry
- 4:41Speaker 3: Zerner Dana Kimmel, Richard Brooker and Paul Krakow so fun
- 4:48Speaker 3: to see them all together again given that this was
- 4:53Speaker 3: recorded before Richard Brooker passed away I believe it was
- 4:57Speaker 3: in 2013 so that part was enjoyable and it was
- 5:02Speaker 3: fun to get a little bit of their insight on
- 5:05Speaker 3: the film but I felt like there's been other commentary
- 5:09Speaker 3: tracks I definitely feel like have shined a little bit more,
- 5:12Speaker 3: and we figured this would be a better fit for
- 5:14Speaker 3: staff picks.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Yeah, this is one. I wish there was more effort
- 5:24Speaker 2: to get more technical commentaries on these older films, especially
- 5:29Speaker 2: a lot of these franchise films don't have. I know
- 5:31Speaker 2: Friday the 13th Part II doesn't have one. Not even
- 5:34Speaker 2: sure really in the past what Steve Miner has done
- 5:36Speaker 2: as far as audio commentary tracks. But here's the thing.
- 5:41Speaker 2: There are so many movies that I wish had technical
- 5:46Speaker 2: commentary tracks. But at this point, man, this film came
- 5:49Speaker 2: out in 1982. There's just been so much talk about
- 5:53Speaker 2: this movie. And you have Crystal Lake Memories, the book,
- 5:58Speaker 2: written by Peter Bracca. You have the Crystal Lake Memories documentary.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Also created by Peter Brackett, which gives so much behind
- 6:07Speaker 2: the scenes on this movie. Multiple commentaries, or not commentaries, well,
- 6:13Speaker 2: podcasts have plunged into it as deep as possible. I
- 6:17Speaker 2: watched a documentary on YouTube called In Memoriam about this movie.
- 6:24Speaker 2: There's a lot of information out about this movie, man.
- 6:27Speaker 2: And at this point, I don't know if a deep
- 6:31Speaker 2: dive audio commentary track would really give much more. You
- 6:35Speaker 2: know what I mean? Yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 3: I mean, I think the one, you know, going back
- 6:40Speaker 3: and having a chance to rewatch this, the one thing
- 6:41Speaker 3: that stood out to me is just, um, I think
- 6:44Speaker 3: it's easier for us as, as physical media collectors to
- 6:48Speaker 3: have a chance to rewatch this. And, and, you know,
- 6:51Speaker 3: I think the 3d effects have, um, I think held
- 6:56Speaker 3: up to the best of their abilities, but when you
- 6:59Speaker 3: hear it from the cast and, um, their experience first
- 7:04Speaker 3: seeing this in theater for screening, it was, it was
- 7:07Speaker 3: a very different experience compared to like how we take it.
- 7:10Speaker 3: I mean, um, I remember, I think one of the
- 7:14Speaker 3: first times actually getting to appreciate that was on the
- 7:17Speaker 3: lenticular DVD. I don't know if you remember those for
- 7:20Speaker 3: the pride of 13 films, but it came with a
- 7:22Speaker 3: pair of like replica 3d glasses. And so being able to,
- 7:26Speaker 3: to watch it that way was, was really cool. Um,
- 7:30Speaker 3: But I can only imagine what this is like if
- 7:31Speaker 3: you're sitting down and watching this in theater. So I
- 7:35Speaker 3: try to kind of look at it through those lens,
- 7:38Speaker 3: you know, when discussing the film. But, yeah, I mean,
- 7:43Speaker 3: let me ask you, though. Both you and I, we've
- 7:47Speaker 3: got a mutual love of Friday the 13th. Where does
- 7:49Speaker 3: this one fall for you?
- 7:50Speaker 2: I feel like my ranking changes all the time. I
- 7:54Speaker 2: feel like any Friday the 13th movie at any time
- 7:56Speaker 2: could take up top. spots for the franchise. Like even,
- 8:01Speaker 2: even Jason takes Manhattan as a chance, depending on how
- 8:03Speaker 2: I'm feeling to take up a top, a top spots.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Usually like typically for me, it's like four, six and
- 8:11Speaker 2: Jason goes to hell are usually like rattling around the
- 8:15Speaker 2: top three for me. And then the rest are definitely
- 8:19Speaker 2: not like though. Even the lower ones are not bad
- 8:21Speaker 2: to me. They're all enjoyable to various degrees and part
- 8:26Speaker 2: three is held up better. than I thought it was
- 8:29Speaker 2: going to. Um, this was one that I actually watched
- 8:33Speaker 2: surprising amount of times when I was younger. I really,
- 8:37Speaker 2: I had the, I had the, um, the crystal lake collection.
- 8:41Speaker 2: It was in like the 10. I remember that DVDs
- 8:45Speaker 2: or blue rays. I can't remember which. And it came
- 8:47Speaker 2: with the 3d glasses for part three. And I remember
- 8:50Speaker 2: as a kid, I had that lenticular DVD and, you know,
- 8:53Speaker 2: putting on a 3d glasses gave me a terrible fucking
- 8:56Speaker 2: headache every single time.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Of course.
- 8:59Speaker 2: But I remember just even now having like a good
- 9:05Speaker 2: old just wholehearted laugh at the 3D effects. And it's
- 9:11Speaker 2: the length at which they go to to make them happen.
- 9:17Speaker 2: It's like Harold in the beginning knocking over the pole
- 9:22Speaker 2: for the laundry and then trying to hook it back
- 9:24Speaker 2: in place and sticking it in the camera.
- 9:26Speaker 3: The yo-yo hook.
- 9:27Speaker 2: The yo-yo coming down or the juggling, you know, where
- 9:32Speaker 2: the balls are flying up at the camera. It was like, just,
- 9:35Speaker 2: it's so much fun to watch. And, and in my opinion,
- 9:38Speaker 2: I don't think they detract from the film's quality at
- 9:43Speaker 2: all when you watch it in 2d.
- 9:45Speaker 3: No, I mean, you know what they're going for, obviously. Um,
- 9:50Speaker 3: I mean, I agree with what you're saying. I mean, the,
- 9:54Speaker 3: all these films for me, that, that whole screen factory
- 9:57Speaker 3: box set, they're all comfort films. So I can, I
- 10:01Speaker 3: could sit down at any time and watch these. This
- 10:03Speaker 3: is easily my favorite horror franchise. And I don't really
- 10:09Speaker 3: feel like that there's, I mean, there's obviously some that
- 10:11Speaker 3: I would rank like maybe slightly lower than others, but
- 10:15Speaker 3: Across the board, I can sit down and watch any
- 10:17Speaker 3: of these and really appreciate them. I feel like for
- 10:21Speaker 3: part three.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Don't know. It might just be outside of my top...
- 10:30Speaker 3: It might be definitely my top five. But again, that
- 10:35Speaker 3: order can always change. Because I know you and I
- 10:38Speaker 3: have talked about it. Friday the 13th, part two... That's...
- 10:44Speaker 3: I would have to say... It's going to be, like...
- 10:46Speaker 3: It's going to have to be my favorite. Probably the
- 10:48Speaker 3: 13th film, followed by part four. And then... I've grown
- 10:54Speaker 3: to really love the original a lot more as time
- 10:56Speaker 3: has gone on.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Maybe part five.
- 11:04Speaker 2: See, this is what I'm saying, though. You could keep...
- 11:06Speaker 2: You could go, you know what? Yeah, like, New Blood
- 11:08Speaker 2: isn't that bad. Jason Takes Manhattan is fine. I know.
- 11:11Speaker 3: You can all.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Like, they're, like... You can kind of interchange them all.
- 11:14Speaker 2: And I think... there's a lot of, there's a lot
- 11:20Speaker 2: about Friday the 13th part three that I enjoy listening
- 11:26Speaker 2: to as far as, or like reading into reading into
- 11:30Speaker 2: how many takes they had to do to achieve most
- 11:32Speaker 2: of the 3d effects. I love them getting pissed off
- 11:35Speaker 2: at Larry's earner because he couldn't throw his wallet the
- 11:37Speaker 2: right way, you know, right at the middle of the camera. Um,
- 11:42Speaker 2: The crane falling over and pretty much ruining a day's
- 11:45Speaker 2: worth of shooting. The fact that there wasn't even a lake.
- 11:51Speaker 2: They had a man-made puddle, basically, to act like a
- 11:54Speaker 2: lake because they had shot the film on the West
- 11:56Speaker 2: Coast instead of the East Coast, which you can tell
- 11:58Speaker 2: it's the West Coast.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:00Speaker 2: 100% of the time.
- 12:01Speaker 3: They had to refill the lake, I believe, from the commentary.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Something happened with the tower.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Of course.
- 12:10Speaker 3: And they had to refill it to be able to
- 12:13Speaker 3: obviously finish the production. I thought that that was really
- 12:15Speaker 3: interesting because from a casual viewer, you're not going to
- 12:20Speaker 3: pick up on that.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I never once thought like, oh, that's not a
- 12:23Speaker 2: real lake. I did know, I could tell growing up
- 12:26Speaker 2: in New Jersey, I could tell that this wasn't New Jersey.
- 12:28Speaker 2: There's something about the way the sun sits on the
- 12:33Speaker 2: East Coast that's different than the West Coast. And it's
- 12:36Speaker 2: really odd unless you... have visited both. It's kind of
- 12:40Speaker 2: harder to understand. Um, but there's just a different style.
- 12:46Speaker 2: And this is a movie that I think is obviously
- 12:53Speaker 2: iconic because Jason gets his mask. Um, but it's funny
- 13:00Speaker 2: when you really walk. It's like, there's so much stuff
- 13:02Speaker 2: about this movie that feels unpolished.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Yes.
- 13:05Speaker 2: It's like, the ability to see the string during Vera's
- 13:09Speaker 2: death or the ability to see the string when Rick's
- 13:12Speaker 2: eyeball pops out, it's like a, there's like an amateurish
- 13:16Speaker 2: quality to this movie that that's very apparent and.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Odd, which is surprising because it's, it, you know, Steve
- 13:24Speaker 3: minor coming back to direct the third one.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yeah. But I think it's just, I think it's just
- 13:29Speaker 2: a 3d that kind of fucked it all.
- 13:32Speaker 3: I know. I, yeah. I mean, part two, it, Everything
- 13:37Speaker 3: about that, I know it's not the definitive look to Jason,
- 13:41Speaker 3: but it's that tone to the film that really stands out.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Whereas with this, I get what you're saying. There's moments
- 13:49Speaker 3: where it's just overall the atmosphere. I love the characters,
- 13:54Speaker 3: but it's like the environment feels a little off. We
- 13:57Speaker 3: get a lot of time that's spent in the barn.
- 14:01Speaker 3: I don't feel like that's the most accurate depiction of
- 14:05Speaker 3: Crystal Lake. If I'm being honest, you know, so it's
- 14:09Speaker 3: also there's charm to this movie for sure.
- 14:12Speaker 2: There it's also the fact that everything in the first
- 14:15Speaker 2: four movies only happens within like a three day range
- 14:19Speaker 2: or like a four day range, I think. And we
- 14:21Speaker 2: kind of forget about that. And there's weird things that
- 14:23Speaker 2: three does with like the assault sequence that happened two
- 14:28Speaker 2: years earlier. with Dana Kimmel's character. There's just a lot
- 14:34Speaker 2: of odd stuff that was thrown in to this movie.
- 14:38Speaker 2: I'm not saying it's supposed to make sense.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Well, Dana Kimmel, so she mentions this in the commentary,
- 14:44Speaker 3: and I thought this was fascinating, was that she did
- 14:48Speaker 3: address that. She was asking for clarity on exactly what
- 14:52Speaker 3: happened during the dream sequence, or when she's recalling her
- 14:58Speaker 3: incident with Jason, and they just like wouldn't give her
- 15:03Speaker 3: a straight answer on it. Cause it's like, who knows?
- 15:07Speaker 3: Nobody knows. Maybe they don't know.
- 15:12Speaker 2: You know, my favorite part about this movie. And I'll
- 15:16Speaker 2: tell you why I love this movie so much. It's
- 15:17Speaker 2: because me and the main character have the same exact name.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Chris Higgins.
- 15:24Speaker 3: I thought it was the eyes.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I thought it was the breast. We have the same name, man.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Higgins Haven. I need that.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Is that what you're going to call your movie space?
- 15:38Speaker 3: Higgins Haven?
- 15:40Speaker 4: I should.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Be careful. I might get hit with the copyright infringement
- 15:44Speaker 3: from Steve Miner.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Fun fact, speaking of copyright infringements, I was talking to
- 15:51Speaker 2: my wife the other night about how I think the
- 15:55Speaker 2: genius of scream three is uh the fact that cotton
- 16:01Speaker 2: weary has a like a tv show called 100 cotton
- 16:07Speaker 2: and my wife still thinks to this day that that's
- 16:11Speaker 2: what we should have named this podcast yeah i told
- 16:18Speaker 2: her i was like i have to go to a
- 16:20Speaker 2: convention i have to meet live shriver and i have
- 16:22Speaker 2: to ask him who owns the rights to the name
- 16:23Speaker 2: in that case.
- 16:26Speaker 3: You know, I'm not going to lie. You know, I
- 16:30Speaker 3: believe in the multiverse, right?
- 16:32Speaker 2: Sure.
- 16:32Speaker 3: And that could be a very real possibility that there
- 16:34Speaker 3: was no Beyond the Blood. There was only 100% Cotton.
- 16:37Speaker 2: 100% Cotton. Come on, man. That's genius writing for Scream 3.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Cotton Weary having a TV show for 100% Cotton.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Listen, man. This is a conversation for another day. I
- 16:48Speaker 3: don't know. You definitely have. What did you say Scream
- 16:50Speaker 3: 3 was your favorite Scream movie?
- 16:52Speaker 2: It's, yeah. Okay. Okay.
- 16:56Speaker 3: And I'm not here to try to tell you otherwise, but.
- 16:58Speaker 2: I have, like, the troll list. It's, like, Scream 3
- 17:01Speaker 2: and Scream 6. And then we did start Scream 7,
- 17:06Speaker 2: and it's fucking atrocious. Like, it's really not good. Did
- 17:12Speaker 2: you see Scream 7 yet?
- 17:13Speaker 3: I did, unfortunately. That's a movie I wish I could
- 17:15Speaker 3: have got my money back for.
- 17:17Speaker 2: I know we're talking about Friday the 13th, Part 3,
- 17:18Speaker 2: but let me get... So, we put it on. Not
- 17:21Speaker 2: high hopes. We loved the opening scene. at the, at
- 17:25Speaker 2: the mock and the Stu Mocker house. Uh, you know,
- 17:29Speaker 2: I thought that was a lot of fun burning it down.
- 17:31Speaker 2: I was like, this is really cool. And then, uh, spoiler,
- 17:34Speaker 2: just a heads up spoiler for anybody who hasn't seen
- 17:36Speaker 2: scream seven, Paul skip forward, like 15 seconds right now.
- 17:40Speaker 3: I've tried to forget this movie and you're going to
- 17:42Speaker 3: remind me.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I'm never going to let you forget Matthew Lillard popping
- 17:46Speaker 2: up on FaceTime. And yeah, I'll never forget the moment
- 17:51Speaker 2: when I just paused the movie and facepalmed so hard.
- 17:57Speaker 3: You know, okay, you want to talk about Scream 3, right?
- 18:00Speaker 2: Sure.
- 18:01Speaker 3: And, you know, unfortunately, the events around this that happened
- 18:05Speaker 3: with 9-11, and I believe, wait, was it that? Was
- 18:10Speaker 3: it Columbine? Was that the reason why they had to
- 18:13Speaker 3: change the script? Maybe that's what I'm getting mixed up with.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I think it was more, I think it was, hold on.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Maybe I misspoke. Maybe it is Columbine.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Uh, yeah. Well, yeah, because scream three came out in 2000.
- 18:24Speaker 2: So it was Columbine. Okay.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Jump through then by, by year. Um, but if he
- 18:32Speaker 3: had come back in scream three, I liked the idea
- 18:39Speaker 3: of like the, like the reason why he was coming back,
- 18:43Speaker 3: but ultimately that got scrapped. They didn't use that. And
- 18:46Speaker 3: we got scream three. for what it is and I
- 18:52Speaker 3: think as a fan you always wonder oh maybe he
- 18:56Speaker 3: didn't die right but if this is the payoff for
- 19:03Speaker 3: me waiting all these years I was almost like listen
- 19:05Speaker 3: I love Matthew Lillard but I don't think that this
- 19:09Speaker 3: is ever what I envisioned or wanted him to like
- 19:13Speaker 3: how I would want him to come back it was
- 19:15Speaker 3: very disappointing wasn't a very good movie So what.
- 19:18Speaker 2: If, what if, you know, we're watching Crystal Lake right now.
- 19:23Speaker 2: What if at the end of Crystal Lake, it's revealed
- 19:26Speaker 2: that Jason is actually not Pamela Voorhees' son, and Pamela
- 19:33Speaker 2: Voorhees' son is actually Roy from A New Beginning?
- 19:35Speaker 3: I've got a lot to think about. It's like, because
- 19:44Speaker 3: i probably do that we were talking about this i'll
- 19:46Speaker 3: rock with Roy. I like Part 5 a lot. I mean, obviously,
- 19:50Speaker 3: it takes a little bit of a detour, but it's
- 19:52Speaker 3: still a good time.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Roy's great, man. My only problem with Part 5 is
- 19:57Speaker 2: typically when you're setting up a red herring, you try
- 20:00Speaker 2: not to be over- like there there's a line that
- 20:05Speaker 2: you have to tow, which is like, you're not nodding
- 20:08Speaker 2: directly to the, or you're not winking directly to the
- 20:10Speaker 2: audience and jallows, which you and I are very familiar.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Have a very hard time at like being, uh, low
- 20:17Speaker 2: key about who they're jallows go one of two ways.
- 20:21Speaker 2: It's either like, you know, right away, or it's somebody
- 20:23Speaker 2: who like you saw in passing in one frame and
- 20:26Speaker 2: never saw again.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Completely unexpected.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Yeah. There's no, you know, that's, that's the two options
- 20:30Speaker 2: for you. Friday, 13th part five. straight up zooms in
- 20:36Speaker 2: on Roy numerous times, giving dirty fucking looks to everybody
- 20:40Speaker 2: around him. And it just, you're like, Oh, this guy's
- 20:44Speaker 2: clearly the killer. Yeah.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I mean, but then you, you can't help but wonder like,
- 20:52Speaker 3: why'd he leave his son in the home?
- 20:55Speaker 2: Because, uh, he's got things to do, man. Roy's busy. He's,
- 21:00Speaker 2: he works. He's in there. He's working for the ambulance.
- 21:04Speaker 3: EMT, right?
- 21:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 3: You know what? I think I know why it's not
- 21:10Speaker 3: higher in your ranking. There's not enough sleaze in part
- 21:13Speaker 3: five for you.
- 21:14Speaker 2: But part five has great sleaze.
- 21:19Speaker 3: I think that that's why as time has gone on,
- 21:22Speaker 3: it's continued to climb up the ranking for me.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Do you think part three suffers from not having enough sleaze?
- 21:31Speaker 3: It doesn't feel like the camp environment. I think that's like,
- 21:36Speaker 3: I like the characters. Killer score. I don't know how
- 21:40Speaker 3: we've gotten into this podcast. Not even 20 minutes in
- 21:42Speaker 3: and we haven't talked about that banger of a theme.
- 21:46Speaker 2: So good.
- 21:48Speaker 3: I mean, Harry Manfredini, he was working his ass off
- 21:55Speaker 3: on that song.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Well, do you know the story behind it?
- 22:02Speaker 3: No. Take it from the top. All right.
- 22:04Speaker 2: So I was actually just reading this last night because
- 22:07Speaker 2: I own the.
- 22:08Speaker 3: For the listeners out there.
- 22:09Speaker 2: For the listeners out there. I own the La La
- 22:11Speaker 2: Land Records deluxe release of Friday the 13th, part three,
- 22:14Speaker 2: the score. And it's the most comprehensive release the score
- 22:21Speaker 2: will probably ever get. And I'm not going to remember
- 22:26Speaker 2: exact names, but basically Steve Miner approached Manfredini about coming
- 22:30Speaker 2: back for part three. Manfredini was busy writing music for
- 22:34Speaker 2: a play for a theater production. And Steve Miner said like, Hey,
- 22:38Speaker 2: don't worry about redoing the whole thing. I just want
- 22:40Speaker 2: you to do like a new intro music. And I
- 22:42Speaker 2: want you to do new music for the third act.
- 22:46Speaker 2: So Manfredini teamed up with, I'm going to forget his name.
- 22:51Speaker 2: It'll come to me to do the disco theme in
- 22:55Speaker 2: the beginning. And they actually released that as a single
- 22:58Speaker 2: and made up a band name called hot ice. So
- 23:02Speaker 2: they did release that as a single after the movie
- 23:04Speaker 2: came out, which I thought was funny.
- 23:07Speaker 3: That's incredible.
- 23:08Speaker 2: The rest of the movie, so act one and act two,
- 23:11Speaker 2: they actually hired a guy to kind of rework tracks
- 23:16Speaker 2: that were recorded for part one and part two and
- 23:18Speaker 2: kind of like add in a few kind of new
- 23:20Speaker 2: bits to twist it up just enough. So this score
- 23:24Speaker 2: is kind of like a Frankenstein score of new with
- 23:29Speaker 2: kind of like a partnership with Manfredini. There is new
- 23:31Speaker 2: pieces from Manfredini, but most of the score is reworked
- 23:34Speaker 2: pieces with very minor additions, not by Harry Manfredini.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Oh, Michael Zager?
- 23:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yep. That's who did the intro with him. Yeah.
- 23:45Speaker 2: And a lot of those pieces are actually still lost.
- 23:47Speaker 2: So according to the liner notes for the La La
- 23:51Speaker 2: Land Records release, which are brilliant, by the way, there's
- 23:56Speaker 2: like just a lot of I guess kind of like
- 23:59Speaker 2: the logging or the organization for most of the music
- 24:06Speaker 2: was kind of a mess and they really had a
- 24:08Speaker 2: hard time piecing it together the right way. So it's
- 24:12Speaker 2: kind of an amalgamation of things and they think this
- 24:14Speaker 2: is the best it's ever going to get in the
- 24:15Speaker 2: closest it's ever going to get. Um, all of that
- 24:19Speaker 2: to say that the disco track is a fucking banger
- 24:21Speaker 2: for sure. Dude, it's so funky.
- 24:25Speaker 3: So funky, you know, When we were doing... Well, we
- 24:27Speaker 3: were getting ready to do the rewatch for both of us.
- 24:30Speaker 3: But man, as soon as I threw in that Blu-ray
- 24:32Speaker 3: from Screen Factory and that came on, oh man, my
- 24:35Speaker 3: whole place was bumping.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Well, they did... What do you think about the seven
- 24:40Speaker 2: minutes of footage for Friday the 13th Part 2 that
- 24:43Speaker 2: kicks off the beginning of the movie? I mean.
- 24:49Speaker 3: I've sat through Silent Night, Deadly Night 2. And, you know, that's...
- 24:56Speaker 3: As much as I love that movie, I mean, it's
- 24:58Speaker 3: basically like a larger-scale rehash of what we got, similar
- 25:03Speaker 3: to this. So if I can get through that, I
- 25:04Speaker 3: can get through anything.
- 25:06Speaker 2: I was talking to their video rental store just opened
- 25:10Speaker 2: in my town, and I was talking to one of
- 25:11Speaker 2: the owners, and we were talking about doing some screenings.
- 25:15Speaker 2: And he was talking about how he did a screening
- 25:19Speaker 2: of Silent Night Dead and Part 2. And I thought
- 25:21Speaker 2: the funniest part about it was he was like, I
- 25:23Speaker 2: didn't have to do sign. I've done a part one
- 25:25Speaker 2: because part two pretty much covers that. It's like, could
- 25:30Speaker 2: you label it as a double feature then?
- 25:31Speaker 3: Could you, and he's not wrong. Yeah.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Um, yeah. So the music for this movie is kind
- 25:39Speaker 2: of all over the place. The score itself is incredible.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Like that La La Land records, uh, deluxe edition that
- 25:45Speaker 2: they did does feature three or four lost previously, like
- 25:49Speaker 2: lost or unused tracks. Um, that were newly discovered. Those
- 25:53Speaker 2: are very good. If people can get their hands on that, it's, it's,
- 25:57Speaker 2: it's great, man. This, this is really kind of like,
- 26:00Speaker 2: I think new musical life, the franchise needed at this point.
- 26:04Speaker 2: And it is the coolest, I think opening title, um,
- 26:09Speaker 2: credits for, for the movie with all of the, uh,
- 26:13Speaker 2: like Superman ask, uh, 3d title effects.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Um, What I did appreciate, speaking of Friday the 13th,
- 26:25Speaker 3: just on a side note, is Harry Manfredini coming back
- 26:30Speaker 3: for Crystal Lake. Yeah. That is all.
- 26:33Speaker 2: It's very good. Yeah. It's very, very good.
- 26:37Speaker 3: So what do you think about the cast, the characters?
- 26:42Speaker 3: What works for you about this film? Because this is just,
- 26:46Speaker 3: I mean, this is peak Friday the 13th. this is
- 26:51Speaker 3: obviously where we, you know, get the most definitive iteration
- 26:56Speaker 3: of Jason from this point forward. Um, what works about
- 27:01Speaker 3: this film for you or why do you, why do
- 27:03Speaker 3: you come back and rewatch it? So, I.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Mean, I think, I think Richard, Richard Booker as Jason
- 27:12Speaker 2: is kind of like with a big draw for me
- 27:14Speaker 2: watching this. The guy is humongous. Um, and, jason does
- 27:20Speaker 2: have a bit of a a bit of a different
- 27:22Speaker 2: attitude in this movie like he i do love the
- 27:26Speaker 2: focus on kind of like him stalking and watching i
- 27:29Speaker 2: love that where you kind of see him in the
- 27:32Speaker 2: background in the barn watching and then he kind of
- 27:35Speaker 2: creeps away and it it brings something you know like
- 27:39Speaker 2: we've always seen the povs of you know friday 30
- 27:42Speaker 2: part two we got the pov this, we get the POV,
- 27:45Speaker 2: but there's actually shots where you can see them in
- 27:47Speaker 2: the background lurking. And I think those are really effective. Um,
- 27:50Speaker 2: I do think if you're going to watch this movie
- 27:52Speaker 2: for anything specific, it's just going to be him walking
- 27:54Speaker 2: away after shooting the spear and Vera's eye, you know,
- 27:58Speaker 2: nonchalantly up the dock. I think that's a, that's a
- 28:01Speaker 2: hell of a shot to crazy. Good.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Um, she shouldn't have dropped Shelly's.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Wallet, dude.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Shelly is like, and here, do you think Shelly's annoying?
- 28:12Speaker 3: No, he's, he's the heart. Of this movie. And anyone
- 28:17Speaker 3: that says otherwise, we got a problem.
- 28:20Speaker 2: So I had never noticed before, and maybe this is
- 28:24Speaker 2: just my lack of not paying attention. I had never
- 28:27Speaker 2: noticed that after he speaks with Vera in the house,
- 28:35Speaker 2: when he talks about how, you know, he likes her
- 28:38Speaker 2: and she kind of shuts him down very nicely. He
- 28:41Speaker 2: calls her a bitch. And I had never heard that before.
- 28:47Speaker 2: that i had no idea.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Everyone's got their limits man you and shelly even shelly
- 28:53Speaker 3: yeah i mean they're okay there is one speaking of
- 28:58Speaker 3: shelly and i have a very specific note about this
- 29:01Speaker 3: there is a scene where they're going into town and
- 29:05Speaker 3: uh he is he's he's getting ready to run out
- 29:09Speaker 3: to meet up with vera out to the car she's
- 29:13Speaker 3: already in the car that scene is easily one of
- 29:16Speaker 3: the funniest moments you have to go back and watch
- 29:19Speaker 3: it is the way he's running i was.
- 29:21Speaker 2: In tears dude his run is yeah.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Oh my god and larry zirner confirmed he doesn't actually
- 29:28Speaker 3: run like that and it was just the shoes that
- 29:31Speaker 3: he was wearing i don't know if i believe that
- 29:34Speaker 3: are you.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Talking about this moment when she drives away and stops
- 29:37Speaker 2: and then he has to run up to the car
- 29:38Speaker 2: yeah that's run is. It's great.
- 29:42Speaker 3: It is ridiculous.
- 29:44Speaker 2: He has such a I think my favorite moment with
- 29:47Speaker 2: him is when he at the gas station, when he
- 29:50Speaker 2: hits the bikes. And Ali walks over and just leans
- 29:54Speaker 2: in front of the windshield and smiles. Larry Zerner just
- 29:58Speaker 2: kind of smiles. And then Larry Zerner, or I mean,
- 30:00Speaker 2: Ali punches out the windshield.
- 30:03Speaker 3: What does he say? They've gone too far this time.
- 30:06Speaker 3: I'm like, look at Shelly, man. You want to talk
- 30:08Speaker 3: about character arc? This is it. Tommy Jarvis has nothing
- 30:14Speaker 3: on Shelly.
- 30:15Speaker 2: I think. I think this scene kind of gets topped
- 30:18Speaker 2: off with Rick being such a wet sponge that he is.
- 30:23Speaker 2: When Rick walks out of the house and just goes,
- 30:24Speaker 2: what did you do to my car? And then he's like, oh,
- 30:30Speaker 2: let's go for a drive. And then just gets in
- 30:32Speaker 2: and drives off with his shattered windshield and broken driver's
- 30:36Speaker 2: side window. And he says, what did you do to
- 30:39Speaker 2: my car? Like, he drives a Porsche. It's like this
- 30:41Speaker 2: beat up Herbie Beetle.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Volkswagen.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Like Volkswagen Beetle.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Maybe he's a little bit tad over-medicated or something. Nothing
- 30:53Speaker 3: fazes Rick.
- 30:55Speaker 2: All he wants to do is have sex, and that's
- 30:57Speaker 2: all he's concerned about the whole movie.
- 30:59Speaker 3: He can only take so many cold showers.
- 31:03Speaker 2: What do you think of... Because, honestly, the outside... Okay.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Outside of Chuck and Chili.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I like most of the characters, Chuck and Chili. I
- 31:18Speaker 2: just don't know well enough to like.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Really, I don't get much time with them and they're,
- 31:23Speaker 3: they're a little goofy, but they're, yeah, but they have charm. I, again,
- 31:27Speaker 3: this entire cast has charm. That's, that's, I mean, why
- 31:29Speaker 3: we come back to these movies.
- 31:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:31Speaker 2: I mean, Chuck is a Chuck at one point just
- 31:34Speaker 2: tries to take a shit and can't. And then Chili
- 31:40Speaker 2: shout out to her because she's so calm. After discovering
- 31:44Speaker 2: that people were dead around her. And she just calmly
- 31:47Speaker 2: walks around the house yelling that people were dead. Which
- 31:52Speaker 2: I do feel like is a slight precursor to the
- 31:58Speaker 2: he's killing me, he's killing me final chapter.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Listen, don't knock that, man.
- 32:03Speaker 2: I'm not. No, no, no. I'm not at all.
- 32:05Speaker 3: But we were on.
- 32:10Speaker 3: I'm trying to remember. We were talking about that scene.
- 32:14Speaker 3: When was that? That was recent that we were talking
- 32:16Speaker 3: about that, wasn't it? Was it a live stream?
- 32:19Speaker 2: Dude, I talk to you every day. We do so
- 32:21Speaker 2: much stuff together. It all blurs together.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Okay, there was a conversation that came up. I can't remember.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Somebody was talking about the conversation and saying how that
- 32:31Speaker 3: scene is so goofy. And I was like, whoa, hold up.
- 32:36Speaker 3: You mean to tell me this guy is... straight up
- 32:41Speaker 3: bawling out and being a hero. He knows he's going
- 32:43Speaker 3: to die. Most likely.
- 32:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:45Speaker 3: And Jason is just this malevolent force that there's no
- 32:51Speaker 3: way this guy had a chance.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:53Speaker 3: The guy is trying to buy some time and he
- 32:58Speaker 3: knows as he's being probably what stabbed, I would have
- 33:01Speaker 3: to assume that he's literally, he's literally getting killed. He
- 33:04Speaker 3: knows it. It's, it's like, it's like, uh, uh, a swimmer,
- 33:10Speaker 3: knowing that he's about to be consumed by a shark. Yeah.
- 33:16Speaker 2: I think that scene's great. It's terrifying, man.
- 33:19Speaker 3: I think it might be one of the most terrifying
- 33:21Speaker 3: scenes in the whole series.
- 33:22Speaker 2: This is why part four is top three.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Was it Joseph Zito Masterclass?
- 33:29Speaker 2: Joseph Zito Masterclass. Yeah, you have Joseph Zito Masterclass, and
- 33:32Speaker 2: then you jump right to Jason Lives, and then you
- 33:34Speaker 2: have Tommy McLaughlin Masterclass.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Masterclass.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Which... Does Friday the 13th Part 3 have the most
- 33:46Speaker 2: amount of characters who take a shit in a Friday
- 33:48Speaker 2: the 13th movie?
- 33:51Speaker 3: I think so, but it feels pretty tame as far
- 33:54Speaker 3: as any nudity, right?
- 33:57Speaker 2: Yeah, you have the one scene with Tracy Savage. That's
- 34:03Speaker 2: about it, man. I think the people taking a shit
- 34:07Speaker 2: outnumbers the nudity by two to one.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Maybe that's why it just isn't higher in the rankings
- 34:14Speaker 3: for me.
- 34:15Speaker 2: What's your opinion on hammocks?
- 34:19Speaker 3: I don't even know the physics of, like, how you
- 34:21Speaker 3: would make something like that happen. I feel like no one....
- 34:26Speaker 2: You don't understand the physics of hammocks?
- 34:29Speaker 3: I mean, like, trying to get it in on a hammock.
- 34:31Speaker 3: I feel like that would just be, like, a disaster.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I mean, actually, it kind of seems... Might
- 34:38Speaker 2: be a little bit comfortable as a bed. I don't
- 34:40Speaker 2: hate the idea of that being a bed. Might be nice.
- 34:44Speaker 3: I feel like for a nap, but not long periods
- 34:46Speaker 3: of time. Like, are you going to sleep eight hours
- 34:48Speaker 3: on that? Or let alone with somebody next to you?
- 34:51Speaker 2: Yeah, somebody next... Well, I mean, I think pretty much
- 34:55Speaker 2: on top of you, because the hammocks, you tend to...
- 34:58Speaker 2: One person takes most of the weight.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Oh, man. That's supposed to be during the summer. Like,
- 35:02Speaker 3: everyone's going to be sweaty.
- 35:04Speaker 2: And she's pregnant.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Is she?
- 35:09Speaker 2: Debbie is pregnant.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:12Speaker 2: She says it twice in the van. I thought she
- 35:17Speaker 2: was joking. Well, I mean, she's not, I guess. She's not.
- 35:22Speaker 2: She doesn't ever say that she's joking. She is pregnant.
- 35:27Speaker 2: And this is funny because I listened to a couple
- 35:29Speaker 2: podcasts and research for this. And one of the podcasts
- 35:31Speaker 2: was like, I don't know what that does to the
- 35:33Speaker 2: body count. But....
- 35:36Speaker 3: Damn.
- 35:38Speaker 2: It's a great question. I have no idea.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Yeah, she's pregnant, man. She says it not once, twice.
- 35:49Speaker 2: First pregnancy. So we have people taking a shit and
- 35:54Speaker 2: pregnancy outnumbering nudity in Friday the 13th, 4-3.
- 35:58Speaker 3: You know, one thing I do have to point out
- 36:00Speaker 3: that I thought was really interesting is Tracy Savage... who
- 36:05Speaker 3: plays Debbie, actually ended up going into broadcasting.
- 36:09Speaker 2: And she was on OJ Trial.
- 36:11Speaker 3: Yep. News anchor. She's actually, she spent some time in Michigan.
- 36:19Speaker 3: I do know that. She graduated from U of M.
- 36:21Speaker 2: What's your thoughts on, so our character, Shelly, played by
- 36:29Speaker 2: Larry Zerner, has the hockey mask.
- 36:35Speaker 3: Now, did he fit this all in the box that
- 36:37Speaker 3: he had in the van?
- 36:38Speaker 2: I think so.
- 36:41Speaker 3: And the wetsuit and the spear gun.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Yeah. Military style packing. That's when you fold your socks
- 36:50Speaker 2: into your underwear, into your shirt, and you take up
- 36:53Speaker 2: less space, but you fold three times the amount of material.
- 36:57Speaker 3: He's basically like preparing for the end times.
- 37:00Speaker 2: How do you pack? How are you? Are you just
- 37:02Speaker 2: like a traditional fold?
- 37:04Speaker 3: My guy, I have the impact for going to scare fest.
- 37:07Speaker 2: That's right.
- 37:07Speaker 3: I'm not like Shelly.
- 37:09Speaker 2: That's right. That's right.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Not that equipped. Not like that.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Um, yeah, he brings everything, dude. And he has so many,
- 37:17Speaker 2: he's got, he's got, uh, you know, appliances with axes
- 37:20Speaker 2: in the head. And, uh, this guy's got a lot
- 37:24Speaker 2: going on, man. He's got the hockey mask. He's got
- 37:26Speaker 2: that weird, clear plastic mask in the beginning.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Oh, when he tries to sneak up on him?
- 37:33Speaker 2: Yeah, at the very beginning, which he wears when he's
- 37:35Speaker 2: introduced to Vera.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Okay, what do you think of the kills?
- 37:42Speaker 2: I actually think I actually love most of the kills
- 37:44Speaker 2: in this movie. I think Rick, his head being squeezed
- 37:48Speaker 2: and the eyeball popping out is genius for a 3D movie.
- 37:51Speaker 2: I don't care how the effect looks. I don't care
- 37:53Speaker 2: that you see the string. I don't care how he is.
- 37:55Speaker 3: I'd rather have that than CGI, man.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I would take this over CGI. All day. I
- 38:02Speaker 2: think it's great. I think Vera's is the best. The
- 38:09Speaker 2: spear through the eye. Oh, yeah. I think that's the best.
- 38:15Speaker 2: I think Chuck being thrown into the electrical system.
- 38:20Speaker 3: I always liked that one.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's kind of a kickoff of a bit
- 38:24Speaker 2: of a trend in Friday the 13th movies where people
- 38:26Speaker 2: get thrown into electrical things. Do you think... do you
- 38:32Speaker 2: think this inspired the Bucky kill on Halloween? I damn it.
- 38:38Speaker 3: I can't believe you mentioned that. Cause that's what I
- 38:41Speaker 3: was thinking. I was like, is he really going to
- 38:42Speaker 3: mention this?
- 38:44Speaker 2: Tie it all together.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Is Bucky. I mean, do you think he appears in
- 38:48Speaker 3: the same universe?
- 38:50Speaker 2: I think, I think, yeah, I think if, uh, I do.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Oh my God. How great would it have been if, if, uh,
- 38:56Speaker 2: after Chuck gets thrown in the electrical circuit, uh, Dana Kimmel,
- 39:00Speaker 2: Chris goes upstairs and calls the electric company. And Bucky
- 39:03Speaker 2: comes out there to service that.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Higgins Haven.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Yeah. He's like, all right, I'm here. I'll take care
- 39:10Speaker 2: of this problem for you. I'll get this back on
- 39:12Speaker 2: in no time.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Bucky always seemed like such a hardworking, blue-collar kind of guy.
- 39:17Speaker 3: You know he'd be there on his day off.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Bad night to take overtime. Very bad night to take overtime.
- 39:28Speaker 2: uh yeah i think the kills in trivia are good
- 39:30Speaker 2: if if a little restrained compared to kind of what
- 39:34Speaker 2: we're getting but it's like the the kills kind of
- 39:37Speaker 2: do gain a little bit of a meaner like spirit
- 39:41Speaker 2: to them after this one or in it no no
- 39:46Speaker 2: like there's some like vera i think that i think
- 39:47Speaker 2: that death is is pretty mean I think Vera getting
- 39:51Speaker 2: the spear to the eye is pretty mean. Shelly always
- 39:55Speaker 2: annoys me that it's off screen, that we just get
- 39:57Speaker 2: to see that reveal. And I understand why they did it,
- 39:59Speaker 2: because he keeps playing these pranks. And it's like, oh,
- 40:02Speaker 2: it's another prank, but it's actually real.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I could have used a little bit more out
- 40:07Speaker 3: of that.
- 40:09Speaker 2: You know, the three kills of the three bikers in
- 40:11Speaker 2: the barn, well, two of the three, you know, have
- 40:15Speaker 2: their own little charm. I do love the shot when
- 40:22Speaker 2: Fox's body is discovered, that she's kind of pinned to
- 40:25Speaker 2: the rafter with the pitchfork. I do love that the
- 40:27Speaker 2: camera pans down to show that her character is actually
- 40:31Speaker 2: off the ground, which they use the body harness for.
- 40:34Speaker 2: I thought that was a great way to kind of
- 40:36Speaker 2: sell the effect.
- 40:39Speaker 3: Is it Andy? Is he doing the handstand?
- 40:43Speaker 2: Andy is our handstand guy, which is the best kill
- 40:48Speaker 2: of this entire movie. The chop in half. Kind of
- 40:54Speaker 2: in half.
- 40:55Speaker 3: Terrible. Do you think this inspired Terrifier?
- 41:00Speaker 2: I mean, maybe. I think the best shot of this
- 41:04Speaker 2: movie is the reveal of Andy's body above Debbie when
- 41:10Speaker 2: she's reading the Fangoria magazine. And you just kind of
- 41:13Speaker 2: see him. He's like chopped in half and then Jason
- 41:17Speaker 2: kind of like folds his body to fit him up
- 41:19Speaker 2: in the bed that he's on or like that elevated...
- 41:22Speaker 2: surface that he's on.
- 41:24Speaker 3: I feel like these movies there's always details that you
- 41:27Speaker 3: don't pick up on obviously on like first watch but
- 41:30Speaker 3: you go back and you watch it.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Crazy yeah that's i also love that shot underneath like
- 41:37Speaker 2: through the floor of him getting hit in the pelvis
- 41:42Speaker 2: for the cut in half why is he always doing handstands.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Though i don't know anybody that does handstands or or
- 41:51Speaker 3: plays with yo-yos but listen it was a simpler time
- 41:53Speaker 3: back then.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Wait you couldn't could you yo-yo back in the day
- 41:56Speaker 2: could you walk the dog i.
- 41:59Speaker 3: Think i was like okay at it but i always
- 42:01Speaker 3: felt like that those would always get tangled up and
- 42:03Speaker 3: then they were just like useless i had a game boy.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Yeah yeah they were juggle no juggling nothing like that
- 42:11Speaker 2: not man yeah i can't.
- 42:13Speaker 3: Juggle either listen i can barely.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Pack yeah well you you're running out of time to
- 42:20Speaker 2: pack i am though. Um, the fight with Jason here,
- 42:28Speaker 2: Chris against Jason, like there's some stuff I really like
- 42:35Speaker 2: about it. And kind of contrary to your opinion, I
- 42:37Speaker 2: actually like the barn. I do think it adds, you know,
- 42:42Speaker 2: a little bit of like, it adds like a secondary interior.
- 42:48Speaker 2: And it also does kind of add some fun, um,
- 42:51Speaker 2: kind of things to the end of the movie, such
- 42:53Speaker 2: as her hanging him and the reveal that Ali isn't dead,
- 42:58Speaker 2: you know, and he just gets up and then gets
- 43:00Speaker 2: a shit beat out of him again. I said, I
- 43:03Speaker 2: do think there's some fun stuff there.
- 43:05Speaker 3: The hanging scene with Jason. I mean, obviously that, that,
- 43:09Speaker 3: that sets everything up for, uh, the final chapter. I
- 43:13Speaker 3: do like that about it. Yeah. Um, the chase scene
- 43:19Speaker 3: that we get with Jason, uh, You want to talk
- 43:24Speaker 3: about Nightmare Fuel? That scene of him watching from the
- 43:28Speaker 3: window is like some sinister shit. It's unsettling. This is
- 43:35Speaker 3: a different side of Jason than we've gotten up until
- 43:39Speaker 3: this point. And you know that he is just either
- 43:45Speaker 3: trying to get it in or he's just out for blood.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Yeah, Richard Brooker's performance is great. And it's amazing what
- 43:59Speaker 2: he can do. We talk a lot about Kane Hodder.
- 44:02Speaker 2: You know, from 6 to... Was it 9, right? 9, 10,
- 44:05Speaker 2: 6 through 10? It was 7. Or 7 to 10. Yeah.
- 44:09Speaker 2: So you have him from New Blood all the way
- 44:11Speaker 2: up to Jason X. Yeah. Yeah, okay. So 7-10.
- 44:25Speaker 4: 7-10.
- 44:26Speaker 2: And Kane Hodder brought a new level of physicality as
- 44:29Speaker 2: far as, like, I always loved the heavy breathing, the
- 44:32Speaker 2: very labored, like, the big chest movement, the big shoulder movement.
- 44:37Speaker 2: I love what Kane Hodder brings to that. Richard Brooker
- 44:40Speaker 2: brings something, I think, that's more nuanced to Jason. He
- 44:46Speaker 2: also brings, like, a little bit of a... It is
- 44:48Speaker 2: kind of scary how, like, how... uh, like, like, it's
- 44:57Speaker 2: like the best way to explain it is like when
- 44:58Speaker 2: he shoots Vera in the eye and then he just
- 45:01Speaker 2: kind of slowly lumbers away. It's like, okay, that's done.
- 45:05Speaker 3: But not, not in like the, definitely not in the
- 45:08Speaker 3: Frankenstein way that he's like closer to, uh, like Fravor's Jason,
- 45:14Speaker 3: where I feel like there's, there's, he's obviously very present.
- 45:20Speaker 3: I would say in this, he's not like mindless.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Yeah, Ken Kersinger's performance in Freddy vs. Jason is way too, like,
- 45:28Speaker 2: Frankenstein compared to this. But at this point, technically, I mean,
- 45:37Speaker 2: if you want to look at the franchise, I mean,
- 45:38Speaker 2: technically he's alive. You know what I mean? This is
- 45:42Speaker 2: still pre-Resurrection Jason. So he's still kind of technically just
- 45:48Speaker 2: a human, right, at this point?
- 45:52Speaker 3: In part three, Jason? Yeah. Oh, for sure. I don't
- 45:56Speaker 3: think you really start getting the supernatural side of stuff, like,
- 46:01Speaker 3: until after four.
- 46:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:04Speaker 3: And then obviously five is.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Nah, geez. Spoilers. Yeah, right. It's Roy. God damn it, Roy. Yeah.
- 46:15Speaker 3: But then you get six, yeah. I mean, that's when
- 46:18Speaker 3: I feel like you start turning the page on a
- 46:21Speaker 3: new chapter.
- 46:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:22Speaker 3: For him as a character and just can't be killed.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Oh, you mean new chapter is in like Friday the 13th,
- 46:28Speaker 2: part four. New chapter. Final chapter. Sorry.
- 46:33Speaker 3: I was like, did you just combine a bunch of
- 46:37Speaker 3: Friday the 13th titles together?
- 46:39Speaker 2: A new beginning chapter of New Blood.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Close enough.
- 46:42Speaker 2: A new bloody beginning chapter.
- 46:45Speaker 3: That could be part 13.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Let's get working on it. I think the hanging of
- 46:53Speaker 2: Jason is very effective. I do think the dispatching of
- 46:57Speaker 2: Jason in this is also very effective. I think one
- 47:02Speaker 2: of my problems with this movie is that everything is
- 47:08Speaker 2: in daylight for the most part. Yes. One of my
- 47:14Speaker 2: biggest complaints. The night stuff is... Very scary for Jason.
- 47:20Speaker 2: And daylight, depending on the type of daylight, I think
- 47:23Speaker 2: it could be very, very effective for Jason Voorhees. This
- 47:27Speaker 2: is just drenched in light. There's no shadow. Even inside
- 47:32Speaker 2: the barn, it doesn't really feel atmospheric. The light coming
- 47:37Speaker 2: in is just so bright that everything is kind of
- 47:39Speaker 2: even as far as lighting goes. So, I don't know.
- 47:44Speaker 2: It takes away something from it.
- 47:48Speaker 3: I would agree with you. There's, it's hard to put
- 47:51Speaker 3: my finger on just exactly what doesn't completely work about,
- 47:55Speaker 3: or it doesn't work about this film. I feel like, again,
- 48:01Speaker 3: it comes back to, I know you like the barn again.
- 48:05Speaker 3: It's not, I wouldn't say that that's the reason why
- 48:09Speaker 3: I don't put up, I don't put this film up higher,
- 48:12Speaker 3: but I agree with what you're getting at with, you know,
- 48:16Speaker 3: the lighting I think is, is, a little overkill.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Yeah. And I mean, at this point it's just minor complaints.
- 48:22Speaker 2: Like all these movies, it's very minor complaints. It's, you know,
- 48:28Speaker 2: like there, there, there's a lot of stuff that you
- 48:29Speaker 2: can bitch and complain about. Um, I always have a
- 48:33Speaker 2: ton of fun with this one. And honestly, like all
- 48:36Speaker 2: of the characters are the most part. I, I really like,
- 48:38Speaker 2: I do love having a group of characters that I
- 48:44Speaker 2: don't mind spending time with. They all have their quirks.
- 48:49Speaker 3: For any of the movies. For any of the movies,
- 48:53Speaker 3: it's like that. I feel like that's what keeps us
- 48:56Speaker 3: coming back to this. The original, the sequels, I mean,
- 48:58Speaker 3: it's just it depends what you're in the mood for.
- 49:03Speaker 3: What cast of characters do you really want to hang
- 49:05Speaker 3: out with? Or at what point in the story do
- 49:09Speaker 3: you want to pop on?
- 49:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and from this point, I know we're talking a
- 49:14Speaker 2: lot about Final Chapter, but I truthfully think Final Chapter
- 49:16Speaker 2: has the the most relatable group of characters. and like
- 49:22Speaker 2: the characters in part four feel very real and all
- 49:24Speaker 2: their relationships feel real and the characters feel way more
- 49:28Speaker 2: complex than they ever have before um and that's why
- 49:33Speaker 2: i think four stands out so much It is really
- 49:37Speaker 2: cool that Paramount decided to go the 3D route with this,
- 49:41Speaker 2: and the 3D obviously made it a hell on earth project,
- 49:46Speaker 2: especially for Steve Miner, who really struggled on set with
- 49:50Speaker 2: this one. He was under a lot of stress, I believe,
- 49:53Speaker 2: for this one. This movie took so long to shoot.
- 49:56Speaker 2: It took way longer than it should have to shoot.
- 49:59Speaker 2: It added so much unnecessary stress to the cast and
- 50:02Speaker 2: the crew, and it really didn't It didn't really blow
- 50:08Speaker 2: away the box office like they thought it was. I
- 50:12Speaker 2: think it did make more money than two, but it
- 50:14Speaker 2: didn't do it to the point where they were, like,
- 50:16Speaker 2: super stoked about it. Which is why they went into
- 50:19Speaker 2: final chapter thinking, like, okay, we're going to end it here.
- 50:22Speaker 2: Because we're kind of getting to the point where we
- 50:23Speaker 2: might have diminishing returns. But as we know, it didn't.
- 50:29Speaker 3: Can't kill Jason.
- 50:31Speaker 2: You can't kill Jason. You can try.
- 50:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean.
- 50:37Speaker 3: I think those, those eight Paramount films are just so
- 50:43Speaker 3: much fun. And then you get past that and, and
- 50:45Speaker 3: any of the other Friday the 13th films, definitely they, uh,
- 50:49Speaker 3: they have their own appeal to them and, and reasons
- 50:53Speaker 3: why we come back to them. But man, it's those,
- 50:56Speaker 3: I don't know, man, it's, it's those first four that
- 50:59Speaker 3: really the, the franchise really starts hitting at stride. And
- 51:04Speaker 3: then from there, I mean, it really takes off and,
- 51:08Speaker 3: Part 3 is just no exception. This is a fun movie.
- 51:15Speaker 3: I had to ask you about this because obviously we
- 51:20Speaker 3: know where this ends up leading into the final chapter.
- 51:24Speaker 3: Do you feel like this film should have continued a
- 51:29Speaker 3: little bit more from Part 2? Would you have wanted
- 51:33Speaker 3: to see a continuation of jenny's character in in part
- 51:39Speaker 3: three or are you happy with what we got.
- 51:42Speaker 2: Yeah i mean it's hard to look back and and
- 51:44Speaker 2: wish for anything else because there's no way to ever
- 51:47Speaker 2: see it i do wish jenny had come back because
- 51:49Speaker 2: to be quite frank like i think chris and rick
- 51:51Speaker 2: are two of the most forgettable characters in the show
- 51:54Speaker 2: i mean outside of me and chris sharing literal names
- 51:59Speaker 2: you know in eye color and eye color there's not
- 52:01Speaker 2: a lot that I really remember about either of them. Actually, Rick,
- 52:05Speaker 2: I think, is hilarious because of how deadpan that he
- 52:07Speaker 2: is all the time. I think he's got a great voice,
- 52:10Speaker 2: and he just has a very eclectic dryness about him
- 52:15Speaker 2: that I really appreciate. But Ginny was great, and it
- 52:24Speaker 2: really sucks that she had said no originally and then
- 52:27Speaker 2: kind of looks back in regret, wishing she had done it.
- 52:30Speaker 2: I think that would have been great to continue that story.
- 52:32Speaker 2: And personally, I think Sackhead Jason is one of my
- 52:36Speaker 2: favorite forms of Jason. So I wouldn't have minded seeing
- 52:40Speaker 2: that even longer into part three.
- 52:46Speaker 3: I'm with you there 100%. Really?
- 52:50Speaker 2: Okay, good.
- 52:51Speaker 3: Listen, I will always come to bat. And, you know,
- 52:54Speaker 3: the order can always change, like I mentioned. But Friday
- 52:59Speaker 3: the 13th, part two.
- 53:01Speaker 3: His years have gone on that has settled in as
- 53:05Speaker 3: my favorite. I, every single time I talk about Friday
- 53:09Speaker 3: the 13th part two, I have to talk about Mark.
- 53:13Speaker 2: And his death of getting the cleaver to the face.
- 53:17Speaker 2: And then the shot of him rolling down the stairs
- 53:19Speaker 2: and his wheelchair in the room. Dude, it's so like,
- 53:26Speaker 2: there's it's, it's, like right up there for me with the,
- 53:31Speaker 2: he's killing me, he's killing me. It's just a death
- 53:33Speaker 2: that like leaves a bad taste in my mouth where
- 53:36Speaker 2: I'm like, Oh, this one just feels.
- 53:38Speaker 3: Cause he's, he's like a down to earth guy. He's
- 53:43Speaker 3: just trying to get it in.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:46Speaker 3: And just gets like the worst kill out of the,
- 53:51Speaker 3: or I would say the, the harshest kill of all
- 53:54Speaker 3: part two.
- 53:55Speaker 2: And Vicky is, you know, out trying to get ready
- 53:57Speaker 2: for him. She's into him. Yeah. You know, and she's
- 54:00Speaker 2: so sweet. We spoke to Lauren Marie Taylor right on
- 54:03Speaker 2: this podcast right here.
- 54:04Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 54:05Speaker 2: She's so sweet. And Mark is such a nice character, man.
- 54:08Speaker 2: And for them to do that that way, where it's
- 54:11Speaker 2: just kind of rolled down the steps backwards. And that's
- 54:13Speaker 2: why I think three kind of is overshadowed by a
- 54:18Speaker 2: great part two and a great part four.
- 54:20Speaker 3: Mm-hmm. Characters are just like a slight tier higher.
- 54:27Speaker 2: What, in two and four?
- 54:28Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 54:29Speaker 2: Yeah, these feel... Friday the 13th Part 3 feels like
- 54:32Speaker 2: an experiment. It feels like you had a half-decent continuation,
- 54:38Speaker 2: and then the rest of it is blanketed with this, like,
- 54:40Speaker 2: we're going to try to do this in 3D thing.
- 54:42Speaker 2: And I think audiences kind of felt that, where it's
- 54:44Speaker 2: like the gimmick slightly takes precedent over everything else. You know,
- 54:52Speaker 2: I don't think the acting is all that great from
- 54:54Speaker 2: really anybody in this movie. And not that I'm saying
- 54:57Speaker 2: I watch Friday the 13th movies for acting, but... It
- 55:00Speaker 2: does feel the lesser of the first four. It does, like,
- 55:06Speaker 2: you can almost watch the movie and you can almost
- 55:09Speaker 2: feel that there was tensions on set from something. It
- 55:15Speaker 2: does just kind of feel like something went different with
- 55:18Speaker 2: this one. And I don't quite have a moment to
- 55:22Speaker 2: put my finger on it and say, like, hey, this
- 55:24Speaker 2: is the stuff to watch out for. But when I
- 55:26Speaker 2: kind of dove into a little bit of history and
- 55:28Speaker 2: learned about the production nightmares. I was like, Oh, that
- 55:30Speaker 2: makes sense. It kind of reflects. And I don't really
- 55:35Speaker 2: think about that too often because I don't look at Friday,
- 55:37Speaker 2: the 13th movies in any sort of like critical analysis light. No,
- 55:43Speaker 2: I just sort of put them on and go. And
- 55:45Speaker 2: my complaints are so minor and so little that like,
- 55:47Speaker 2: I'm just happy to have people and kills and Jason
- 55:52Speaker 2: and it's fun, you know?
- 55:55Speaker 3: Yeah. I, you know, what's funny though, is that you
- 55:59Speaker 3: take a group of teenagers from this one. And then
- 56:05Speaker 3: it's like, I'm kind of, I'm, you know, while you
- 56:07Speaker 3: were explaining that I, am I comparing them to the
- 56:10Speaker 3: first one? And it's like, they're, they're all, they're all
- 56:14Speaker 3: good groups for their own reasons. Like, you know what
- 56:16Speaker 3: I mean? It's different, different vibe, different aesthetic for each
- 56:20Speaker 3: one of these films. But, uh, Yeah, I don't know.
- 56:25Speaker 3: I agree with you. It just feels like there's something
- 56:28Speaker 3: about this film, as much as I can appreciate it,
- 56:30Speaker 3: I think there's just something about it that just doesn't
- 56:33Speaker 3: feel as refined as some of the other ones we got.
- 56:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's not to say that I spent this
- 56:39Speaker 2: whole episode talking about how much I like this movie.
- 56:41Speaker 2: It's not to say that it takes away from my
- 56:43Speaker 2: experience with the movie. I still have a lot of
- 56:45Speaker 2: fun with it, but if you really want me to
- 56:47Speaker 2: sit down and start pulling things apart, I'm probably going
- 56:49Speaker 2: to have more to pick from this than I will
- 56:53Speaker 2: most outside of like, you know, seven, I think is,
- 56:57Speaker 2: you know, still one of the weakest entries. I think
- 56:59Speaker 2: eight has some problems, but I, I've really come across,
- 57:01Speaker 2: I've really come to enjoy Jason's Manhattan a lot more, um,
- 57:07Speaker 2: over the years. And, you know, Jason goes to hell
- 57:09Speaker 2: is one of my favorites. So I, I.
- 57:11Speaker 3: Think that would definitely climb through the ranking for me.
- 57:14Speaker 2: Yeah. I can probably pick apart the most problems, um,
- 57:19Speaker 2: from a film analysis perspective with Part 3 more than
- 57:22Speaker 2: any other in the franchise.
- 57:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, the only other one that it's no
- 57:30Speaker 3: fault of its own, it's Part 7 that I just
- 57:33Speaker 3: wish we could have seen the definitive vision.
- 57:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. And it's a shame because John Carl
- 57:38Speaker 2: Buechler did such great work for that movie that never
- 57:43Speaker 2: got seen. I know.
- 57:47Speaker 3: It's disappointing. um but i mean this is this is
- 57:51Speaker 3: definitely you know i love watching these films as we
- 57:56Speaker 3: get closer to halloween uh above all else i feel
- 58:00Speaker 3: like the perfect rewatch for you know just getting out
- 58:04Speaker 3: the screen factory blu-ray set is right as we're approaching
- 58:10Speaker 3: summer that these movies go hand in hand So, I mean,
- 58:15Speaker 3: you could throw it on any time of year, but
- 58:17Speaker 3: that's usually when I try to try to go back
- 58:18Speaker 3: and rewatch this in order.
- 58:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 58:21Speaker 2: I like them beginning of the year. I also like
- 58:23Speaker 2: them like now, like the fallout from summer. I also
- 58:26Speaker 2: enjoy it. Like I put this on and I think
- 58:28Speaker 2: it was like 55 degrees outside. I had the fireplace on.
- 58:31Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, this works.
- 58:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:34Speaker 2: You know, I still got the vibe pretty good, but. Yeah.
- 58:38Speaker 2: I mean, look, dude, at the end of the day,
- 58:39Speaker 2: like I'm happy to add these movies to the beyond
- 58:41Speaker 2: the blood, you know, roster because I love the Friday
- 58:43Speaker 2: 13th movie so much. Um, you know, they've definitely been
- 58:48Speaker 2: discussed to death. I definitely did not expect there to
- 58:50Speaker 2: be like a two hour episode from us on this. Um,
- 58:55Speaker 2: but any, any chance that, that, that I can get to, to,
- 59:00Speaker 2: to talk about Friday 13th, I'm going to take, and I,
- 59:03Speaker 2: I think part three is, is a great addition. albeit
- 59:07Speaker 2: some of its problems um and i think that the
- 59:11Speaker 2: movie holds up in in in ways that that kind
- 59:17Speaker 2: of like let me enjoy rewatch after rewatch after rewatch
- 59:21Speaker 2: like most of these movies i can put them on
- 59:23Speaker 2: at any time and i'm not really complaining about much
- 59:26Speaker 2: it's if i sit down and i put on you
- 59:28Speaker 2: know analysis classes i really start diving into problems but
- 59:31Speaker 2: I don't like doing that with movies like this because
- 59:33Speaker 2: it's not meant to be looked at like that.
- 59:36Speaker 3: I think between the two of us we definitely love
- 59:38Speaker 3: these movies a lot despite our little like you know
- 59:41Speaker 3: critiques here and there but I think if you're looking
- 59:46Speaker 3: to overanalyze any of these films I mean you'd be
- 59:49Speaker 3: doing them a disservice and yeah these films just have
- 59:54Speaker 3: like I said just have a lot of charm I
- 59:56Speaker 3: mean you know what you're getting with any of these.
- 59:59Speaker 2: You have words yeah So before we wrap up, man,
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: are you getting any Friday the 13th Part III signatures
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: at Scarifax?
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: I actually have already met Paul Krakow and Dana Kimmel.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: I met them, I believe, last year. Nice. So I
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: got signatures from them at that event. And then previously
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: I met Steve Miner a few years ago. I had
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: him sign my Friday the 13th Part II VHS.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: How was meeting him?
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: He's cool. I kind of.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: I was curious as to like, you know, where the
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: 3d influence, you know, kind of got brought into the, uh,
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: the mix for part three, if it was his idea
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: or if it was a studio and it was something
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: that he was really interested in approaching for the film.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: So I thought that that was a pretty fascinating, but yeah,
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: I mean, it's, you know, he's had an extensive, uh,
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: record of, uh, horror films. So it's, you know, to
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: be able to meet someone like that, it was pretty special.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Are you a Halloween H2O fan?
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: Not as much as Curse of Michael Myers. Wow. Okay. Yeah.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: Let's talk about that on another day.
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: Just watched Halloween H2O with my wife the other day.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: I still don't like that movie.
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: It's... Yeah. I... I feel like the quality definitely starts
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: to dip around that point. Again, T-Seron, I... I can
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: see why some might like that movie, but, um, I
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: think it's more so when I go back and watch
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: that it's more for nostalgia, not necessarily, uh, rewatchability. Yeah.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: Understood.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: Understood.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: Well, Hey man, I hope you have a ton of
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: fun at scare fest. I know you're going to be
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: meeting up with some friends of the podcast. They're going
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: to be there. Like you, you, you had a lot
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: going on this weekend.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: Very excited. This has been, uh, it's like the one
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: time of year that I really look forward to a lot.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: So I'm looking to make this more of an annual
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: thing for sure.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, our next episode, we're going to be back
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: with a commentary show. Um, we're going to be diving
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: into one of the most iconic audio commentaries of all time,
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: probably in genre history. Uh, it's the John Carpenter, Jamie
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: Lee Curtis commentary track for 1978 Halloween. And we figured
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: it was about time two years into beyond the blood
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: that we finally give this one a listen. And talk
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: about it. So that's going to be dropping on Halloween.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: And then we're going to be heading into the final
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: two months of the year, which is fucking wild to
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: be saying anyway.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: This year's gone by really quick.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: Crazy, man.
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: We've got to enjoy the last couple days that we
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: have leading up to Halloween. So for any of you
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: guys out there listening, make sure you get all your
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: horror movie watches in between now and then.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: Well, it's funny, man, because I see all these people
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: on Instagram and stuff, and they're like, oh, yeah, it's
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: my time of year to watch horror movies. I'm like, wait,
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: y'all don't do this year long like I do, like
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: we do?
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: Oh, it's bad. They only saw our watch list or,
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: you know, what we're checking out on a nightly basis.
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Well, Steve, let people know where they can
