The United States has publicly acknowledged for the first time that it possesses “on-orbit space control weapons.” Air Force Secretary Troy Meink said the systems can defend U.S. joint forces against hostile actions, but declined to reveal their type, number or capabilities. Some experts speculate the weapons could involve non-kinetic technology such as space-based electronic jamming, but U.S. officials have not confirmed this.
