Fiery Trump Lunch with Senate GOP plus Three Blockbuster Supreme Court WINS on Second Amendment & Immigration · The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson

0:00
Speaker 1: Welcome.
0:00
Speaker 2: It is verdic with center, Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson with
0:03
Speaker 2: you as well, and it's nice to have you with
0:05
Speaker 2: a senator. We got a one heck of a show
0:07
Speaker 2: with a lot of behind the scenes action happening with
0:10
Speaker 2: the luncheon you were in with a lot of other
0:12
Speaker 2: senators and President Donald Trump.
0:15
Speaker 3: Well, that's right. This week President Trump came to join
0:18
Speaker 3: the Senate Republican lunch and he was in there for
0:21
Speaker 3: the about a full hour, and it was a contentious lunch.
0:26
Speaker 3: You know what what I said, uh to reporters afterwards.
0:29
Speaker 3: I think that the adjective I used was spirited. Uh
0:34
Speaker 3: and and to to to use another Washington euphemism, frank
0:40
Speaker 3: and candid conversation occurred, uh and and the President was
0:46
Speaker 3: very upset, in particular at four Republican senators that had
0:52
Speaker 3: voted to use the War Powers Act UH to restrict
0:55
Speaker 3: his authority in Iran to to launch military actions against Iran.
1:01
Speaker 3: And he was extremely displeased with that vote, and it
1:07
Speaker 3: then proceeded as a matter of policy. I don't repeat
1:12
Speaker 3: what my colleagues have said, but at this point, it
1:15
Speaker 3: has been universally reported that that the President and Bill Cassidy,
1:19
Speaker 3: Senator from Louisiana, got into a screaming match and it
1:23
Speaker 3: was as tense as anything I've ever seen. Cassidy himself
1:27
Speaker 3: has confirmed that to the press afterwards. Now, obviously, President
1:32
Speaker 3: Trump endorsed against Bill Cassidy in his primary in Louisiana
1:37
Speaker 3: and defeated Bill, so he is not there that there's
1:41
Speaker 3: a runoff in Louisiana. And Bill did not make the
1:45
Speaker 3: top two. He was third in the race, and so
1:49
Speaker 3: and Cassidy, in turn, had previously voted to convict President
1:53
Speaker 3: Trump during the Trump impeachment, and so the President understandably
1:58
Speaker 3: was not happy about the vote to convicted and impeachment,
2:00
Speaker 3: and was not happy with bills vote to limit his
2:06
Speaker 3: ability to defend this nation and launch military attacks against Iran.
2:12
Speaker 1: You know, that's interesting the part there.
2:14
Speaker 2: And obviously you guys have these lunches, and I want
2:17
Speaker 2: to be respectful of of of you and and and
2:20
Speaker 2: others that are that are you know obviously in that meeting.
2:23
Speaker 2: But I've got some questions just based on what's been
2:25
Speaker 2: the media, and we're going to do that in a second.
2:26
Speaker 2: But first I want to tell you about Patriot Mobile

3:35
Speaker 2: Patriot Mobile, you're going to talk to a real person
3:38
Speaker 2: right here.
3:38
Speaker 1: In America.
3:39

3:43
Speaker 1: That's why I switched to Patriot Mobile.

4:02

4:06
Speaker 2: go online at Patriot Mobile dot com slash verdict, promo
4:10
Speaker 2: code verdict for a free month of service. Make the
4:12
Speaker 2: switch and make a difference every time you pay your bill. So, Senator,
4:16
Speaker 2: a lot of this has been reported on there's a
4:17
Speaker 2: lot on X about this right now with Cassidy, were
4:21
Speaker 2: you and were your colleagues kind of expecting that there
4:23
Speaker 2: was going to be some sort of moment because sometimes
4:25
Speaker 2: people telegraph beforehand, or were you and others taken just
4:29
Speaker 2: kind of shocked by how that went?
4:30
Speaker 3: Did the intensity of it look at look it probably
4:35
Speaker 3: needed to be gotten out, but the intensity of it was,
4:41
Speaker 3: you know, I'm reading what what Cassidy said. So, for example,
4:45
Speaker 3: here's what the New York Post is reported. President Trump
4:48
Speaker 3: and Senator Bill Cassidy got into a shouting match. During
4:50
Speaker 3: a lunch meeting Wednesday over the US war with Iran,
4:55
Speaker 3: GOP senators described Trump as being quote mad as a
4:58
Speaker 3: murder hornet, raising his voice at Louisiana Republican Cassidy. And
5:03
Speaker 3: this is Cassidy's public comments, so I'm happy to repeat those. Cassidy,
5:06
Speaker 3: who later quipped that the talks went swimmingly, called the
5:11
Speaker 3: President my brother several times during the heated exchange. Senate
5:15
Speaker 3: GOP sources said the President spat back that Cassidy wasn't
5:18
Speaker 3: his brother and told him to sit down. And here's
5:21
Speaker 3: what Cassidy told reporters. Quote Trump did not particularly care
5:27
Speaker 3: for my comments, raised his voice. I lost my temper.
5:31
Speaker 3: It's the Irish in me. But again I matched his
5:34
Speaker 3: tone and volume. And so it went back and forth.
5:36
Speaker 3: And then he went on to say, so I sat
5:37
Speaker 3: down and tried to de escalate. It was very intense.
5:42
Speaker 3: But I'll tell you what, it had an interesting effect,
5:46
Speaker 3: as intense as it was, because we had another vote
5:50
Speaker 3: after that exchange on the war powers, and Cassidy switched
5:54
Speaker 3: his vote. And there was also an exchange. Rand Paul
5:59
Speaker 3: had voted was one of the four and end listen
6:01
Speaker 3: the president in Rand have a friendship. He and Ran
6:06
Speaker 3: disagree on a lot of issues, but the President likes Rand,
6:09
Speaker 3: and so it was a very different exchange with Ran
6:11
Speaker 3: than it was with Cassidy. And Rand did something which
6:14
Speaker 3: I've never seen him do before, which is he voted
6:18
Speaker 3: present rather than voting for the War Powers resolution, and
6:22
Speaker 3: so those two votes change. And Ran put out a
6:25
Speaker 3: statement explaining that he was doing that. But I respected
6:28
Speaker 3: that Ran did that. In particular. Look the President's case,
6:31
Speaker 3: and I thought it was quite reasonable. Is he said,
6:33
Speaker 3: we're in the middle of negotiating with Iran, and while
6:36
Speaker 3: we're negotiating with Iran, it comes over the TV that
6:40
Speaker 3: the Senate has blocked me from being able to continue
6:45
Speaker 3: with conduct conducting the war. And he said, you completely
6:49
Speaker 3: undercut my ability to negotiate with Iran. And I think
6:52
Speaker 3: the president that was a very understandable point and a
6:55
Speaker 3: fair point, and it ended up moving those two votes.
7:04
Speaker 2: When you're an average person listening right now, and there's
7:06
Speaker 2: a lot of people listening that are in states where
7:09
Speaker 2: these senators who have lost and others have said no,
7:12
Speaker 2: did this. How frustrated should they be and is it
7:16
Speaker 2: justifiable or is it just understand the politics of this moment.
7:20
Speaker 3: Look, the politics of this moment are unique, and Donald
7:24
Speaker 3: Trump is a black Swan event. There's nobody else in
7:29
Speaker 3: public life. There is no other Donald Trump, and so
7:32
Speaker 3: he will say things he is regularly. There are different
7:37
Speaker 3: Senators that he disagrees with, and when he disagrees with you,
7:40
Speaker 3: he can do it with both barrels. And you know,
7:45
Speaker 3: I've been on the receiving end of that, but that
7:47
Speaker 3: was a decade ago and when we were running against
7:49
Speaker 3: each other, and to be fair, I've criticized him, he's
7:51
Speaker 3: criticized me. Were now I'm now his strongest ally in
7:55
Speaker 3: the Senate and we're very good friends now. But he
7:59
Speaker 3: is willing to take the bark off someone and that
8:02
Speaker 3: was certainly true in the Senate lunch this week.
8:05
Speaker 4: All Right.
8:05
Speaker 2: One of the reasons why I love doing the show
8:07
Speaker 2: is we get to take you behind the scenes, especially
8:09
Speaker 2: when there's big deals like this Republican lunch with Donald
8:12
Speaker 2: Trump and Senator Cruise tickets behind the scenes about that,
8:15
Speaker 2: I know, one of the big questions everyone listening right
8:17
Speaker 2: now is going to ask Senator is all right?
8:19
Speaker 1: Was a save act mentioned? And what was said?
8:22
Speaker 3: Well, sure, the President urged the Senate to pass the
8:25
Speaker 3: Save America Act, and I strongly agree with him on that.
8:28
Speaker 3: I'm an original sponsor of the Save America Act. I've
8:31
Speaker 3: been making the case to my colleagues for months that
8:34
Speaker 3: we should do everything humanly possible to pass the Save
8:37
Speaker 3: America Act. In particular, we should force the Democrats to
8:41
Speaker 3: do a talking filibuster, to stand up and talk and
8:43
Speaker 3: talk and talk, just like Jimmy Stewart did, and mister
8:47
Speaker 3: Smith goes to Washington just like I did when I
8:51
Speaker 3: filibustered for twenty one hours against Obamacare. And we should
8:55
Speaker 3: keep the Senate in session and make them work and
8:57
Speaker 3: make them fight. The President made that case vigorously. The
9:01
Speaker 3: difficulty is there are several Republicans in the Senate who
9:04
Speaker 3: oppose him on that, and so it ended up not
9:07
Speaker 3: being a huge part of what was discussed. The President
9:12
Speaker 3: talked about it for a few minutes and pressed his case,
9:14
Speaker 3: and I very much agree with him on that, But
9:17
Speaker 3: I would say ninety percent of the discussion was about Iran,
9:20
Speaker 3: and in particular how mad he was at the war
9:23
Speaker 3: powers vote.
9:24
Speaker 5: That.
9:25
Speaker 3: He felt that that vote had really undercut him, and
9:28
Speaker 3: he was and then it blew up as we just
9:31
Speaker 3: described where he and Cassidy really went at each other.
9:34
Speaker 2: Senator, I want to go back to the filibuster you mentioned.
9:37
Speaker 2: This has been talked about so much on TV. You
9:39
Speaker 2: have a lot of allies that are advocating for what
9:42
Speaker 2: you just talked about in the idea of having this
9:44
Speaker 2: talking filibuster. You famously have done this before. But in
9:48
Speaker 2: this scenario, would it look just like one man talking,
9:52
Speaker 2: or with so many different allies that you have, they've
9:54
Speaker 2: talked about this publicly, would it be multiple people asking questions?
9:57
Speaker 2: Is that part of the reason why it's an intriguing idea.
10:00
Speaker 3: Well, look, part of what you would do is the
10:03
Speaker 3: Senate can keep itself in one legislative day for days,
10:08
Speaker 3: for weeks, for months potentially. And there is a rule
10:13
Speaker 3: in the Senate that is the two speech rule, which
10:16
Speaker 3: is that a senator can't speak more than twice in
10:18
Speaker 3: a single legislative day. And so the approach would be
10:21
Speaker 3: to exhaust the Democrats, to make them talk, to make
10:24
Speaker 3: them stand up there and keep talking and talking. They can,
10:28
Speaker 3: people can ask questions, and if the senator speaking wants
10:32
Speaker 3: to yield for a question, that they can. The challenge
10:35
Speaker 3: of doing that is it would require the Republicans keeping
10:38
Speaker 3: at least fifty of us nearby to be able to
10:42
Speaker 3: produce a quorum, because one of the ways the Democrats
10:45
Speaker 3: would fight us is they would suggest the absence of
10:47
Speaker 3: a quorum. And as I said, we've got several Republican
10:51
Speaker 3: senators who are resisting that.
10:55
Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's part of the reporting that's been interesting.
10:58
Speaker 2: As you described it.
10:59
Speaker 1: That's look. President knows how to count as well.
11:01
Speaker 2: He also did, and there was a moment where he
11:04
Speaker 2: came out after the meeting and he did say this
11:06
Speaker 2: to the American people.
11:07
Speaker 1: And I want to play it for you.
11:10
Speaker 5: A great meeting, and we're very proud or party like
11:15
Speaker 5: everybody really in the room. I don't like a few people,
11:18
Speaker 5: but that's okay. I think you know who they are.
11:20
Speaker 5: But we I'll give you. I'll give you that information someday.
11:24
Speaker 5: But for the most part, we have a really well
11:26
Speaker 5: unified party. And I said it very strongly. We have
11:30
Speaker 5: the hottest country anywhere in the world, where the most
11:32
Speaker 5: powerful were the smartest, we're the most respected. Two years ago,
11:36
Speaker 5: we were laughing stock all over the world. We had
11:38
Speaker 5: a terrible group of people, representatives, every leader. I just
11:43
Speaker 5: left G seven, every leader, and we had a lot
11:45
Speaker 5: of people in addition to G seven, is you okay?
11:48
Speaker 5: Everyone said what we've done in a year and a
11:51
Speaker 5: half is a miracle. We have the hottest country in
11:55
Speaker 5: the world, and we want to keep it that way.
11:56
Speaker 5: We have more factories being built right now that we
12:00
Speaker 5: have at any point at any time in the history
12:03
Speaker 5: of our country. And all of those factories are opening
12:05
Speaker 5: up soon. It's all jobs, and our job numbers are incredible. Anyway,
12:10
Speaker 5: I see that oil just broke the seventy dollars number.
12:16
Speaker 5: Who would have thought that was going to happen. And
12:18
Speaker 5: that's during the war. And Iran is being very nice.
12:21
Speaker 5: They're agreeing to everything that I want and they have
12:24
Speaker 5: to otherwise we just go back and do what we
12:27
Speaker 5: have to do. Thank you very much.
12:29
Speaker 2: By the way, the interesting part there in that is
12:31
Speaker 2: the way he described Iran doing what he wants right
12:34
Speaker 2: now and they're being quote very nice.
12:36
Speaker 1: That's some breaking news.
12:38
Speaker 3: Well, that's been very much what the President has been saying.
12:41
Speaker 3: And I will say, listening to the President that news conference,
12:46
Speaker 3: it reminds me this week. I was joking with Senator
12:51
Speaker 3: Bernie Moreno. We were like, you know, boy, the president
12:53
Speaker 3: got pretty hot under the collar, and I made a
12:56
Speaker 3: wise crack. I said, you know, I think the President
12:59
Speaker 3: must be Latino, because that was some Latin temper there.
13:03
Speaker 3: And Bernie came back and he said, you know, you know,
13:05
Speaker 3: I think you're right. And just like a Latin, you know,
13:08
Speaker 3: he gets mad and then he's just fine like moments afterwards.
13:10
Speaker 3: And you know, by the press conference, I mean, he
13:14
Speaker 3: was pissed in that room, and then the press conference
13:16
Speaker 3: he was rightly focusing on the unity we have, although
13:20
Speaker 3: I wouldn't say there was a ton of unity in
13:22
Speaker 3: that particular lunch, but the unity we have more broadly
13:27
Speaker 3: and everything we're getting accomplished, and so I think that
13:29
Speaker 3: was valuable.
13:31
Speaker 4: You know.
13:31
Speaker 3: It was also interesting on the Iran deal. He was
13:35
Speaker 3: mad about the war powers vote, but he did not listen. Listen.
13:39
Speaker 3: I've been quite public and vocal that I'm concerned that
13:44
Speaker 3: the President is getting very bad advice on this deal.
13:49
Speaker 3: And I think it is history is clear that giving
13:54
Speaker 3: billions of dollars to theocratic lunatics who want to murder
13:58
Speaker 3: us is a very bad idea. Uh And and the
14:02
Speaker 3: terms of the memorandum of understanding that that that jd
14:05
Speaker 3: Vance negotiated say the United States, with regional partners, will
14:09
Speaker 3: provide three hundred billion dollars to the Iyatola and the
14:14
Speaker 3: Mullahs in Iran. And that I think is a really
14:18
Speaker 3: bad idea. I don't think it is in US national
14:21
Speaker 3: security interest. What was interesting about the lunch is is
14:25
Speaker 3: President Trump is well aware of of of of my concerns,
14:29
Speaker 3: and several other Republican senators have expressed concerns along those
14:33
Speaker 3: same lines, and he didn't. He wasn't arguing with with those.
14:37
Speaker 3: I think he's hearing those concerns. I'm glad he's hearing
14:39
Speaker 3: those concerns because I think those who are giving him
14:45
Speaker 3: the advice of sending billions of dollars to Iran, I
14:48
Speaker 3: think are giving him poor advice. And and that was
14:52
Speaker 3: not a major topic of the discussion at the lunch.
14:55
Speaker 2: All right, I want to take a moment. I want
14:56
Speaker 2: to talk to you about a really awesome organization. And
14:59
Speaker 2: if you you are pro life and you're proud to
15:01
Speaker 2: stand up for the rights of unborn children. The Supreme
15:05
Speaker 2: Court ruled that abortion drugs can keep being sent through
15:08
Speaker 2: the mail. No doctor visit, no in person exam, no
15:13
Speaker 2: one checking whether a woman is being pressured, whether she's
15:17
Speaker 2: too far along, whether she's safe. These are powerful drugs,
15:22
Speaker 2: and right now there is almost nothing standing between these
15:26
Speaker 2: drugs and your mailbox. And that's why I want you
15:28
Speaker 2: to know about Americans United for Life AUL. For more
15:33
Speaker 2: than fifty years, they've been the legal backbone of pro
15:36
Speaker 2: life movement. They fight in the courts, they hold the
15:40
Speaker 2: abortion industry accountable, and right now they are leading the
15:44
Speaker 2: efforts to restore basic safety protections for these drugs. If
15:49
Speaker 2: anyone can fix this, it's AUL. Now Here is how
15:53
Speaker 2: you can help and why it matters now. A donor
15:57
Speaker 2: has put up two hundred and fifty thousand dollars to
16:00
Speaker 2: match every gift to Americans United for Life dollar for dollar,
16:05
Speaker 2: but only through June thirteenth. Twenty five dollars becomes fifty,
16:11
Speaker 2: fifty becomes one hundred, but that window closes in days.
16:16
Speaker 2: There are women right now who need someone in their corner,
16:20
Speaker 2: and AUL is that's someone. And be a part of it.
16:25
Speaker 2: Go right now to AUL dot org forward slash verdict.
16:31
Speaker 2: That's Aul dot org forward slash verdict. Give before June thirteenth,
16:39
Speaker 2: and your gift will be doubled again, that's Aul dot
16:44
Speaker 2: Org forward slash verdict. Let's start with a big victory
16:49
Speaker 2: with a Supreme Court striking down a sweeping Hawaii gun
16:53
Speaker 2: law six to three.
16:55
Speaker 1: This was big news.
16:56
Speaker 2: And if you are a Second Amendment advocate like you
16:58
Speaker 2: and I are, you're glad about this.
17:01
Speaker 5: Well.
17:01
Speaker 3: This week it was a major Second Amendment victory at
17:04
Speaker 3: the Supreme Court. The case is Wolford versus Lopez, and
17:07
Speaker 3: Hawaii had passed a really broad gun control law and
17:14
Speaker 3: it was known as Act fifty two. It passed in
17:17
Speaker 3: twenty twenty three, and it made it a crime for
17:21
Speaker 3: a licensed concealed carry holder to carry a firearm onto
17:26
Speaker 3: private property that is open to the public unless the
17:30
Speaker 3: owner gave express permission. And the consequence of that would mean,
17:35
Speaker 3: if you had a permit to concealed carry, you couldn't
17:38
Speaker 3: walk in to say, a grocery store, you couldn't walk
17:41
Speaker 3: into a department store unless the owner explicitly said, I
17:47
Speaker 3: give you permission to carry a firearm here. As a
17:50
Speaker 3: practical matter, that was a really broad ban on a
17:57
Speaker 3: right that is protected by the Constitution, and so the
17:59
Speaker 3: Supreme Court struck it down. The vote was six to three.
18:03
Speaker 3: Justice Sam Alito wrote the majority and that what the
18:09
Speaker 3: court said is that well, there were several opinions, so
18:15
Speaker 3: Justice Alito wrote the main opinion. He was joined by
18:18
Speaker 3: Chief Justice Roberts, Justice Thomas Gorsuch, Kavanon Barrett, and that
18:22
Speaker 3: held that the Hawaii law burdened the right to bear arms.
18:27
Speaker 3: The plaintiffs are the Second Amendment says the right of
18:30
Speaker 3: the people to keep in bare arms shall not be infringed.
18:33
Speaker 3: And the majority said that you can't take away that
18:40
Speaker 3: right that broadly and struck it down.
18:43
Speaker 2: This is again, I love when we get these ruins
18:46
Speaker 2: and it reminds people just why presidential elections are so important,
18:49
Speaker 2: because these are the types of rulings that happen even
18:52
Speaker 2: after people leave the White House. And this is why
18:54
Speaker 2: it's important that we have a conservative majority on the court.
18:58
Speaker 1: I go back.
18:59
Speaker 2: I got to remind people you've got a book coming
19:01
Speaker 2: out with Quarence Thomas. This is a perfect example of
19:04
Speaker 2: why having people like Clarence Thomas on the on the
19:08
Speaker 2: Supreme Court is so important. And remind people the name
19:12
Speaker 2: of the book so they can go get it. There's
19:13
Speaker 2: a SiGe up right now where they can pre order
19:14
Speaker 2: as well.
19:16
Speaker 3: Going Further, the Incomparable Clarence Thomas is the name of
19:20
Speaker 3: the book. It's coming out in August, and to biography,
19:23
Speaker 3: it talks about his life story, it talks about his jurisprudence,
19:28
Speaker 3: and actually a big part of his jurisprudence was highly
19:31
Speaker 3: relevant in this decision because what Hawaii argued is it
19:35
Speaker 3: went back on historical evidence and argued that that Hawaii
19:39
Speaker 3: had colonial laws that gave it the power to do this.
19:44
Speaker 3: And the Supreme Court said, no, those dealt with poaching
19:49
Speaker 3: or hunting or protecting rural land. And sure, you can't
19:52
Speaker 3: go on someone else's land and say hunt, hunt wildlife
19:56
Speaker 3: on their land. That's very different from saying land that
19:58
Speaker 3: is open to the public, like a gas station or
20:01
Speaker 3: grocery store, that you can just turn ordinary citizens exercising
20:07
Speaker 3: their constitutional rights automatically into criminals. And Hawaii in particular
20:12
Speaker 3: pointed to an eighteen sixty five Louisiana Black Code statute
20:18
Speaker 3: as saying, well, this gives us a basis for passing
20:22
Speaker 3: this law, and Justice Alito's majority pointed out that that
20:27
Speaker 3: was a law that was designed to disarm freed black
20:35
Speaker 3: Americans who this was right after the Civil War and
20:41
Speaker 3: you look at these black codes. They were driven by clansmen.
20:46
Speaker 3: And by the way, the clansmen were all Democrats who
20:50
Speaker 3: did not want the newly freed slaves to be able
20:53
Speaker 3: to defend themselves. Why because they wanted the Klan to
20:55
Speaker 3: be able to terrorize them, murder them, threaten them with vice,
21:00
Speaker 3: and if they had a firearm to defend themselves, that
21:03
Speaker 3: would be harder to do. And Justice Thomas has written
21:06
Speaker 3: extensively about that, doing the research during Reconstruction, that the
21:11
Speaker 3: long racist history of wanting to disarm African Americans to
21:18
Speaker 3: make them vulnerable to violence, and that played an important
21:21
Speaker 3: part in this Supreme Court decision this week.
21:24
Speaker 2: Senat there's one red flag here I want to raise.
21:27
Speaker 2: And not only did the Supreme Court shut down what
21:30
Speaker 2: Hawaii was doing, but to be clear, Hawaii was attempting
21:33
Speaker 2: to make the Second Amendment disappear from everyday life. That
21:37
Speaker 2: is something that's concerning because this is now the Democratic Party.
21:41
Speaker 2: This is what they want to do. They want to
21:43
Speaker 2: take away your right to protect and offend yourself. They
21:45
Speaker 2: want to take away your right not only at home,
21:47
Speaker 2: but anywhere, your business, or anywhere else. And they don't
21:50
Speaker 2: care what about our Second Amendment right at all, that
21:55
Speaker 2: to them is meaningless.
21:57
Speaker 1: And you witness that here. And that goes back to
21:59
Speaker 1: the when.
22:00
Speaker 2: You look at this decision, what were the other three saying,
22:03
Speaker 2: Because if you're descending to this, I would assume you'd
22:06
Speaker 2: have to make it based on the fact that, well,
22:08
Speaker 2: I don't even believe the Second Amendment is an issue
22:10
Speaker 2: that supring courts and even even taken a consideration.
22:14
Speaker 3: Well, there were three dissenters, uh, Justice Kagan, Justice Jackson,
22:18
Speaker 3: and Justice Sotomayor, and and all three of them would
22:21
Speaker 3: would have upheld the Hawaii law. Uh and and they
22:24
Speaker 3: argued that the case was really about property law. And
22:28
Speaker 3: uh they argued in particular that no one has a
22:30
Speaker 3: constitutional right to enter private property without consent. Uh and
22:35
Speaker 3: and so it didn't matter whether you were armed or not.
22:39
Speaker 3: It was simply property law. But you know that there
22:41
Speaker 3: have long been number one laws governing public accommodation. So
22:45
Speaker 3: for example, you can't have a hotel that that that
22:51
Speaker 3: only rents rooms to white people and not African Americans.
22:56
Speaker 3: That's that's illegal under our civil rights laws. That once
22:58
Speaker 3: you open it up into publicommodation, you have to offer
23:01
Speaker 3: it freely to the people who come in and in
23:04
Speaker 3: this instance, shutting down those Look, it's one thing anyone
23:11
Speaker 3: can exclude someone from their property. No one has a
23:13
Speaker 3: right to enter your home or my home. But when
23:17
Speaker 3: you open up your property, when you have a store
23:19
Speaker 3: or gas station or whatever, and you're inviting people into
23:22
Speaker 3: your property, the effect.
23:23
Speaker 5: Of that.
23:25
Speaker 3: Would turn law abiding citizens into criminals. And that's because Listen,
23:32
Speaker 3: the Left is not hiding that they're objective. They want
23:37
Speaker 3: to erase the Second Amendment from the Constitution. They want
23:41
Speaker 3: to ban the private ownership of firearms, and Hawaii was
23:44
Speaker 3: taking a significant step in that direction by making it
23:48
Speaker 3: extremely difficult for people to carry a firearm and be
23:51
Speaker 3: able to defend themselves. And you know, Ben, you've got
23:53
Speaker 3: personal experience. Tell folks your experience and how carrying a
23:58
Speaker 3: gun literally saved your life.
24:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I mean, I'm such an advocate for this.
24:03
Speaker 2: It's the reason why I end up buying a gun
24:04
Speaker 2: store and having a gun range and having the classes
24:07
Speaker 2: to get your permit carrying. Now it's constitutional carry in
24:10
Speaker 2: Tennessee and so many other states. But being on a
24:12
Speaker 2: protective to finguerrself, if I didn't have a gun the
24:15
Speaker 2: night that I was a target of a gang initiation.
24:17
Speaker 2: You would have come to my funeral. That's not a joke.
24:20
Speaker 2: There was two gang members. It's called getting blood in
24:22
Speaker 2: the gang, and one of the senior members gets another
24:26
Speaker 2: guy in the gang and they have to kill somebody,
24:27
Speaker 2: and they do that so they have something on them
24:30
Speaker 2: so that the gang members will never flip or nark
24:33
Speaker 2: or wear a wire because they can go to the
24:34
Speaker 2: police and say, hey, there's a shooting that happened at
24:37
Speaker 2: this time, at this place, and it's a it's a
24:39
Speaker 2: it's a it's a brilliant business structure if you think
24:42
Speaker 2: about it. I almost when they explained it to me,
24:44
Speaker 2: the police did, I was like, okay, wow, that's that's shocking.
24:47
Speaker 2: But I was able to use my firearm, pull it
24:50
Speaker 2: and shoot back and save my life and my best
24:53
Speaker 2: friend's life, who happened to be with me. I think, goodness,
24:55
Speaker 2: he wasn't shot either, Uh, but it was. It was
24:57
Speaker 2: a shootout. And I tell you, like, I look at
24:59
Speaker 2: the Hawaii and it's personal for me in any other
25:03
Speaker 2: state where they try to take away your right to
25:04
Speaker 2: protect and defend yourself because you have that right.
25:07
Speaker 1: That's what makes this country so great.
25:09
Speaker 2: And when you see these these Supreme Court justices who
25:12
Speaker 2: just say, I don't care what America was found out,
25:14
Speaker 2: I don't care about the Second Amendment. And the same
25:17
Speaker 2: way in Hawaii, they basically said, we don't care what
25:19
Speaker 2: the laws were or are or what is in this
25:22
Speaker 2: country that makes in America.
25:23
Speaker 1: We're just going to change what we want to.
25:25
Speaker 2: And having three Supreme Court justices who make the decision
25:30
Speaker 2: the way that you just described it, it goes back
25:32
Speaker 2: to this is why presidential elections matter, because when you lose,
25:36
Speaker 2: these are the types of people that get on the
25:38
Speaker 2: Supreme Court and they can undo this country.
25:41
Speaker 4: Yeah.
25:41
Speaker 3: I mean, look, Gavin Newsom, who by any measure is
25:44
Speaker 3: one of the leading front runners for the Democrat nomination
25:48
Speaker 3: for president, he tweeted out in response to this quote,
25:51
Speaker 3: gun laws keep people safe. This ruling by Trump's Supreme
25:55
Speaker 3: Court will only endanger people. If Justice Alito really thinks
25:59
Speaker 3: people need guns to go to the grocery store for
26:02
Speaker 3: self defense, this country is truly broken. But by the way,
26:07
Speaker 3: where were you when when? When you were when when
26:10
Speaker 3: these gang members tried to kill you?
26:13
Speaker 1: All Right, So I was in Memphis, Tennessee.
26:14
Speaker 2: It was literally a block and a half from the
26:18
Speaker 2: entrance to the large mid South fair, so we when
26:21
Speaker 2: it happened. They put a gun to my head at
26:24
Speaker 2: one point, and there were a family with a stroller
26:27
Speaker 2: walking past us, and he had to move the gun
26:28
Speaker 2: from the side of my head down to the inside
26:31
Speaker 2: and he told me to shake his blanking hand. I
26:33
Speaker 2: had to shake hands with the guy that had just
26:35
Speaker 2: beat me up and had a gun to my head.
26:37
Speaker 2: That's how close we were the fair. We actually didn't
26:40
Speaker 2: even have to dial nine one one. We just ran
26:42
Speaker 2: down the street to a police officer that was directing traffic.
26:45
Speaker 2: That's how close they were to us. And the police
26:47
Speaker 2: officer said, we heard the gun shots, and so you know,
26:51
Speaker 2: you look at those types of people, that's what you're
26:53
Speaker 2: up against, and that's why you got to be able to
26:55
Speaker 2: protect and you got to be able to defend yourself.
26:59
Speaker 3: Their way, you won't. You won't be able to carry
27:02
Speaker 3: a firearm and defend yourself. And that's that's what they believe.
27:06
Speaker 2: The Supreme Court also handed President Trump two major immigration victories. Uh,
27:11
Speaker 2: and this was an exciting moment when it comes to
27:13
Speaker 2: immigration cases and victories that we needed.
27:16
Speaker 3: Well, that's right, six' three The Supreme. Court there were
27:19
Speaker 3: two big. Wins one case Was mullen Versus. Do the
27:22
Speaker 3: other case Was mullen versus Alotro, lado which Is spanish
27:26
Speaker 3: for on the other side uh and in both instances
27:31
Speaker 3: it was six to. Three both, Instances Justice alito wrote the.
27:34
Speaker 3: Opinion so all three of these opinions were written By Justice.
27:36
Speaker 3: Alito he had an incredibly strong week defending our. Rights
27:40
Speaker 3: one of the, cases The mullen Versus Alotro, lado it
27:43
Speaker 3: what it concluded is that an illegal immigrant on the
27:48
Speaker 3: other side of the border In mexico has not entered
27:52
Speaker 3: into The United states for purposes of immigration. Law and
27:56
Speaker 3: The biden administration had it adopted a policy where they
28:00
Speaker 3: treated illegal immigrants who weren't in the country as if
28:04
Speaker 3: they were in the country and that they had a
28:07
Speaker 3: right to all sorts of processes before they come into the. Country, now,
28:11
Speaker 3: remember starting in the First trump, Term President trump implemented
28:16
Speaker 3: what was called The remain In mexico, policy which dramatically
28:19
Speaker 3: reduced illegal immigration in the First trump, term and that
28:22
Speaker 3: was preventing illegal immigrants from coming to this country in
28:25
Speaker 3: the first. Place and this was an effort to ignore
28:32
Speaker 3: the plain language of the immigration, laws AND i led
28:37
Speaker 3: an amicus brief amicus curiei Is latin for friend of the.
28:41
Speaker 3: Court AND i led an amicust brief that was joined
28:45
Speaker 3: by five members Of congress supporting The trump administration's policy
28:49
Speaker 3: of stopping, immigrants preventing illegal, immigrants stopping them from coming
28:53
Speaker 3: into the. Country and The Supreme court agreed with my,
28:56
Speaker 3: brief agreed with The Trump department Of, justice handed down that.
28:59
Speaker 3: Victory and then the other, case which which is mullin
29:03
Speaker 3: versus do The court concluded that that temporary protected, status
29:10
Speaker 3: which which The biden administration had awarded to hundreds of
29:14
Speaker 3: thousands Of haitians And, syrians That President trump could reverse
29:20
Speaker 3: that that it wasn't a permanent grant of. Amnesty that,
29:24
Speaker 3: decision likewise was hugely important for the. SUCCESSES i mean,
29:29
Speaker 3: remember in this Second trump, term we have seen illegal
29:32
Speaker 3: border crossings drop ninety nine. Percent that's a staggering. Victory
29:37
Speaker 3: and The Supreme court upheld the president's ability to continue
29:40
Speaker 3: to continue enforcing the.
29:41
Speaker 2: Law, yeah it really. Is AND i want people to
29:44
Speaker 2: just to. Hear shann'tbery said this On Fox News channel about.
29:47
Speaker 2: THIS i want to take a listen here's how she
29:49
Speaker 2: described it in front of The Supreme court.
29:52
Speaker 6: And syrian refugees who were here in the, Country and
29:55
Speaker 6: basically what the court has said is that they can't
29:58
Speaker 6: challenge this decision and by The department Of Homeland, security
30:02
Speaker 6: by the administration that they're the ones who get to
30:04
Speaker 6: make the assessment about whether they leave or. NOT i
30:06
Speaker 6: haven't read the whole, thing but they do get into
30:08
Speaker 6: some of the claims that by some of those who
30:10
Speaker 6: are advocating for The haitians refugees that there was some
30:13
Speaker 6: kind of racial. Animis the court says they don't see
30:16
Speaker 6: evidence of. That So i'll keep. Reading but it's another
30:19
Speaker 6: very fractured decision that seems to be a win for
30:21
Speaker 6: The trump, administration which would be the second win for
30:24
Speaker 6: them on immigration that earlier decision that we talked about
30:27
Speaker 6: that came out just a few minutes, ago saying that
30:29
Speaker 6: if you get to The mexico border but you don't
30:31
Speaker 6: make it ONTO us, soil you can't file an asylum.
30:33
Speaker 6: Claim so The trump administration has to be happy about
30:36
Speaker 6: what they've. Gotten, Today we've still got eight opinions left
30:39
Speaker 6: and it looks Like monday will be.
30:42
Speaker 2: So so you hear her talk about this ruling in
30:44
Speaker 2: favor Of. Trump this is another example of doing the right.
30:47
Speaker 2: Thing maybe. Tough you may go to The Spring, court
30:49
Speaker 2: but you're going to win in this.
30:50
Speaker 3: Scenario and by the, way both of these decisions were
30:53
Speaker 3: six to, three which means that the liberals on the,
30:55
Speaker 3: COURTS i don't care what the statutory language. Says they
30:58
Speaker 3: just like in The Second amendment, case where they would
31:02
Speaker 3: effectively read The Second amendment out of The bill Of,
31:04
Speaker 3: rights when it comes to legal, immigration they would read
31:08
Speaker 3: out the ability to secure our border and they would
31:11
Speaker 3: try instead embody the open border policies we saw during
31:14
Speaker 3: The biden. Administration compare How Shannon brain covered it On
31:18
Speaker 3: fox can compare this TO ms, now which IS i
31:22
Speaker 3: guess what they're CALLING msnbc. NOW i don't even know
31:25
Speaker 3: that anyone watches the, show but listen to the lefties
31:29
Speaker 3: on ms now using their.
31:31
Speaker 1: Minds, yeah total. Meltdown take a, Listen.
31:34
Speaker 7: ALAN i want your reaction to What fallon just laid
31:37
Speaker 7: out for us. There and the concept here that the
31:40
Speaker 7: core is ignoring the history of this administration's remarks About
31:44
Speaker 7: haitian people in. PARTICULAR i don't think there is a
31:46
Speaker 7: Single american who can say they actually forget what we
31:51
Speaker 7: heard from The, president what we heard From Vice President
31:53
Speaker 7: vance About haitian, people just some of the most disgusting
31:56
Speaker 7: and racist remarks you can. IMAGINE i know that you
32:00
Speaker 7: work with a number Of haitian. Clients break down for
32:03
Speaker 7: me just how devastating all of this is about to
32:06
Speaker 7: be very.
32:06
Speaker 4: Devastating AND i hope we stop talking about it as
32:09
Speaker 4: The troupe administration one or someone, won because right Now america.
32:12
Speaker 4: Loss there are going to be a lot of jobs
32:14
Speaker 4: that are, open and a lot of people in home
32:15
Speaker 4: health care industries that are not going to receive any
32:17
Speaker 4: service because their providers are going to be removed from
32:20
Speaker 4: The United. States there are a lot of people who
32:22
Speaker 4: are going to die and suffer because of the account of,
32:25
Speaker 4: this so which this court was more of a court
32:27
Speaker 4: of equity than they say they were a court of.
32:28
Speaker 4: Policy right, Now SO i am the chair of The
32:31
Speaker 4: Haitian Bridge, alliance which is The United states organization that
32:34
Speaker 4: represents These haitians before The Supreme, court and we have
32:37
Speaker 4: made the argument that not just his, comments but also
32:40
Speaker 4: in the writings and just recently even the discovered emails
32:43
Speaker 4: From Christy home about the clear conversations they've made About
32:46
Speaker 4: haitians and black immigrants in general when you even look
32:49
Speaker 4: at the refugee, policy and this court has said even
32:52
Speaker 4: with that, information there's nothing for us to do, here
32:55
Speaker 4: which seems to be extremely problematic along party. Lawns and
32:58
Speaker 4: today you've seen something THAT i haven't seen in The
33:00
Speaker 4: Supreme court in a very long, time is that you've
33:03
Speaker 4: seen The justice sort of read descents that are thirty
33:05
Speaker 4: five pages from the. Bar so even in The Supreme,
33:07
Speaker 4: court you see not the harmony that generally exists there
33:11
Speaker 4: in peaceful descent in saying that this is outside the,
33:13
Speaker 4: norm and because it is outside the, normal because it
33:15
Speaker 4: isn't about just policy and. Procedure this is about people
33:19
Speaker 4: in human engagement and the concept that people keep saying
33:22
Speaker 4: that the problem is that it's temporary status and it's
33:25
Speaker 4: been longer than. Temporary, well change the word don't put
33:29
Speaker 4: people's lives in danger because you feel that that arbitrary removes.
33:33
Speaker 4: Something and has stated before there are a million of
33:35
Speaker 4: classes OF tps individuals who are here legally, working so they're,
33:39
Speaker 4: authorized they've been. Vetted there's not the concerns that you,
33:41
Speaker 4: have but people who may come in undocumented as.
33:43
Speaker 1: Well as they're supporting our.
33:45
Speaker 4: Economy and when you remove those, individuals you draw down
33:49
Speaker 4: all of those work. Areas so all those jobs are.
33:51
Speaker 4: Doing all of these companies that are relying on THESE
33:53
Speaker 4: tps workers to work tomorrow are going to have to
33:56
Speaker 4: make decisions about them leaving. Today so this is not
33:58
Speaker 4: a big win that we think we're going to sell.
34:00
Speaker 4: Break and there are three hundred and fifty million or
34:02
Speaker 4: More americans in The United. STATES a MILLION tps holders
34:05
Speaker 4: are not causing some economic burden on The United States.
34:09
Speaker 2: Center you listened to that and you would think the
34:11
Speaker 2: sky is, Falling and that is how they're covering it
34:14
Speaker 2: on MS now the FORMER.
34:15
Speaker 3: Msnbc, yeah look that the left wants open. Borders what
34:19
Speaker 3: we saw Under Joe, biden twelve million people invade this
34:23
Speaker 3: country and that included, criminals included murderers and rapists and
34:26
Speaker 3: terrorists and child. Molesters and that's what these advocates. Want
34:31
Speaker 3: and by the, way you look at From, Haiti haiti
34:34
Speaker 3: right now is rocked with massive. Violence it is all
34:39
Speaker 3: but chaos And haiti as the gangs have taken over
34:42
Speaker 3: and that's those are those are the people that the
34:46
Speaker 3: left is trying to bring. In and let me be
34:48
Speaker 3: clear that the immigration law that was being decided on
34:52
Speaker 3: here says explicitly no judicial review of any, determination and
34:57
Speaker 3: yet that's what the court. Followed and at the dissenters
35:00
Speaker 3: don't care what the statute. Says they just want to open.
35:02
