Speaker 4: It's the forty seven Morning Update and it starts right now.
• 2:58
Speaker 3: Story number one, the long.
• 3:00
Speaker 4: Government shut down in America's history finally over. The stop
• 3:06
Speaker 4: gap funding measure keeps the government operating through January the
• 3:11
Speaker 4: thirtieth while Congress works on a long term deal. Now,
• 3:16
Speaker 4: let's be very clear, there's a very good chance come
• 3:19
Speaker 4: January thirtieth, the Democrats could shut the government down yet again.
• 3:25
Speaker 4: President Donald Trump signed the legislation to fund the government again,
• 3:29
Speaker 4: putting an end to the longest shutdown in history. And
• 3:33
Speaker 4: Democrats got nothing from doing this. The exact same deal
• 3:39
Speaker 4: that was made in Washington to reopen the government was
• 3:43
Speaker 4: on the table before the government even shut down. So
• 3:47
Speaker 4: why did they hold Americans hostage, hurt so many Americans,
• 3:51
Speaker 4: and make sure that Americans suffered, whether it was food
• 3:55
Speaker 4: stamps or missing a paycheck because they wanted to hurt
• 3:58
Speaker 4: Donald Trump, and they put politics ahead of the country. Now,
• 4:03
Speaker 4: Trump signaled Monday the government would reopen soon. As consequence
• 4:08
Speaker 4: of elapsing funding continued to snowball, including miss paychecks for
• 4:12
Speaker 4: federal workers and airline delays stemming from air traffic controllers
• 4:17
Speaker 4: staffing shortages. Some Democrats wanted this to actually move past
• 4:22
Speaker 4: Thanksgiving to really hurt Americans because they believed you would
• 4:26
Speaker 4: blame Donald Trump for it. Now, the bill keeps the
• 4:29
Speaker 4: funding of the government at the same levels during the
• 4:33
Speaker 4: fiscal year of twenty twenty five through January the thirtieth,
• 4:36
Speaker 4: to provide additional time to hash out a longer appropriations
• 4:40
Speaker 4: measure for the fiscal year twenty twenty six. Now, the
• 4:44
Speaker 4: measure also funds a supplemental Nutrition assistant program known as
• 4:48
Speaker 4: SNAP or food stamps, that more than forty two million
• 4:52
Speaker 4: Americans rely on through September. Yes, that's far too many
• 4:56
Speaker 4: Americans that are on food stamps, and we can talk
• 4:59
Speaker 4: about that as well another day. But the main point
• 5:03
Speaker 4: was this, Why hold families in need hostage? That's exactly
• 5:08
Speaker 4: what the Democrats wanted to do by design. There were
• 5:12
Speaker 4: multiple votes to just fund food stamps, and Democrats every
• 5:17
Speaker 4: time voted no, while at the same time claiming that
• 5:21
Speaker 4: Donald Trump is hurting poor people in America. Now, the
• 5:25
Speaker 4: reopening of the government comes after more than forty days
• 5:28
Speaker 4: of a lapse in funding aimed at a stallmate between
• 5:31
Speaker 4: Senate Republicans and Democrats over the stop gap spending bill
• 5:36
Speaker 4: that would have funded the government through November twenty one.
• 5:40
Speaker 4: After a lapse in funding started on October one, The
• 5:43
Speaker 4: Senate passed legislation Monday night that would reopen the government
• 5:46
Speaker 4: by a sixty to forty vote, the exact bare minimum
• 5:49
Speaker 4: number needed to reopen the government. A total of eight
• 5:53
Speaker 4: Democrats voted alongside the Republican colleagues for the measure. The
• 5:58
Speaker 4: House subsequently passed its version of measure on Wednesday, and
• 6:02
Speaker 4: the deal came as fallout from the shutdown came to
• 6:05
Speaker 4: a head, including, as I mentioned, massive travel disruptions at
• 6:09
Speaker 4: US airports where the air traffic controllers and the TSA
• 6:12
Speaker 4: officers were required to work and we're gearing up to
• 6:15
Speaker 4: miss a second paycheck as a result, these staffers were
• 6:20
Speaker 4: calling in sick, taking on second jobs, creating staffing shortages
• 6:25
Speaker 4: and massive flight delays. Now, the standoff between Republicans and
• 6:29
Speaker 4: Democrats all originate over a disagreement about Obamacare, and the
• 6:35
Speaker 4: fact is Obamacare knows the Affordable Care Act is not
• 6:39
Speaker 4: affordable at all, but healthcare providers health insurance. I should
• 6:44
Speaker 4: say carriers are making billions off of Obamacare, and that's
• 6:50
Speaker 4: one of the problems that conservatives wanted to talk about.
• 6:54
  Speaker 1: Now.
• 6:54
Speaker 4: I also want you to hear what the President had
• 6:56
Speaker 4: to say from the Oval Office as he was signing
• 6:59
Speaker 4: this bill into law. Take a list of the presence
• 7:02
  Speaker 4: words carefully United.
• 7:04
Speaker 1: States and an attempt to extort American taxpayers for hundreds
• 7:09
Speaker 1: of billions of dollars for illegal aliens and people that
• 7:12
Speaker 1: came into our country illegally from gangs, from prisons, from
• 7:17
Speaker 1: mental institutions. They wanted to pay them one point five
• 7:20
Speaker 1: trillion dollars, which would have really hurt our health care
• 7:25
Speaker 1: businesses and our recipients at levels never seen before. Today,
• 7:30
Speaker 1: we're sending a clear message that we will never give
• 7:33
Speaker 1: in too extortion, because that's what it was they tried
• 7:36
Speaker 1: to extort. The Democrats tried to extort our country. In
• 7:40
Speaker 1: just a moment, I'll sign a bill exactly like we
• 7:43
Speaker 1: asked Democrats to send us all along many days ago.
• 7:48
Speaker 1: This cossed the country one point five trillion dollars. This
• 7:51
Speaker 1: little excursion that they took us on. Republicans never wanted
• 7:56
Speaker 1: a shut down and voted fifteen times for a clean
• 8:00
Speaker 1: of funding. There's never been a time when one or
• 8:04
Speaker 1: the other party ever didn't sign a continuation.
• 8:09
  Speaker 2: It's just a continuation, not a big deal. It's a
• 8:11
Speaker 2: continuation of Will Paul later.
• 8:14
Speaker 1: Yet the extremists in the other party insisted on creating
• 8:18
Speaker 1: the longest government shut down in American history, and they
• 8:21
Speaker 1: did it purely for political reasons. I want to thank
• 8:24
Speaker 1: Speaker Mike Johnson, Senate majority of Leader John Thune, as
• 8:28
Speaker 1: well as House majority of Leader Sievescalise, Majority Whipped Tom Emmer,
• 8:33
Speaker 1: and numerous other great Republican leaders and congressmen and senators
• 8:37
Speaker 1: who are here frankly spent a long time in Washington
• 8:41
Speaker 1: getting this thing to go away. I also want to
• 8:44
Speaker 1: thank the broad coalition of Americans that stood with us
• 8:47
Speaker 1: in this fight to reopen government, including the Teamsters, the
• 8:52
Speaker 1: American Federation of Government Employees, the Fraternal Order of Police AMVETS,
• 8:57
Speaker 1: the National Small Business Association, the American Farm Bureau of
• 9:02
Speaker 1: the American Trucking Association.
• 9:04
Speaker 2: These are all incredible patriots.
• 9:07
Speaker 1: Airlines for America, the Allied Pilots Association, the National Air
• 9:11
  Speaker 1: Traffic Controllers Association.
• 9:13
Speaker 2: And many others. Unions and non unions. Over the past.
• 9:17
Speaker 1: Seven weeks, the Democrats shut down as inflicted massive harm.
• 9:22
Speaker 1: They caused twenty thousand flights to be canceled or delayed.
• 9:25
Speaker 1: They departed so many times so late, people were hurt
• 9:30
  Speaker 1: so badly.
• 9:32
Speaker 2: Nobody's ever seen anything like this one.
• 9:34
Speaker 1: This was a no brainer, This was an easy extension,
• 9:38
Speaker 1: but they didn't want to do it the easy way.
• 9:40
Speaker 2: They had to do it the hardware. They looked very
• 9:42
Speaker 2: bad the Democrats do.
• 9:44
Speaker 1: They deprived more than one million government workers from their
• 9:47
Speaker 1: paychecks and cut off foodstaff benefits for millions and millions
• 9:51
Speaker 1: more Americans than need. They caused tens of thousands of
• 9:55
Speaker 1: federal contractors and small.
• 9:57
Speaker 2: Businesses to go unpaid.
• 9:58
Speaker 1: And the total effect of the damage their antics cause
• 10:02
Speaker 1: will take weeks in probably months to really calculate accurately,
• 10:07
Speaker 1: including the serious harm that they did to our economy
• 10:10
Speaker 1: and to people and the families. So I just want
• 10:13
Speaker 1: to tell the American people you should not forget this
• 10:16
Speaker 1: when we come up to midterms and other things. Don't
• 10:19
Speaker 1: forget what they've done to our country.
• 10:20
  Speaker 2: You also want.
• 10:21
Speaker 1: To call for a termination to the filibuster so that
• 10:26
Speaker 1: this can never happen again. If we had the philibuster terminated,
• 10:30
Speaker 1: this would never happen again. And don't forget, we have
• 10:32
Speaker 1: another date coming up in the not too distant future.
• 10:35
Speaker 1: We can never let this happen again, and we should
• 10:38
Speaker 1: be able to pass great, really great legislation.
• 10:41
  Speaker 2: So I say.
• 10:42
Speaker 1: Terminate the filibuster, because, by the way, the Democrats will
• 10:46
Speaker 1: do it immediately if they ever assumed office, which hopefully
• 10:50
Speaker 1: they won't. Today we had the highest stock rocket price
• 10:54
Speaker 1: ever in all of the different markets. We set a
• 10:58
Speaker 1: record the forty eighth time in the nine months that.
• 11:02
Speaker 2: I've been in office that we had this record set.
• 11:05
Speaker 2: So think of that.
• 11:06
Speaker 1: Forty eight times we had a record set. But today
• 11:10
Speaker 1: is the highest of them all. We're going to break
• 11:12
Speaker 1: new grounds. Nobody would have thought. I have with us
• 11:16
Speaker 1: not only the great political leaders, but the great business
• 11:18
Speaker 1: leaders of our country. They're standing right behind me and
• 11:21
Speaker 1: right really alongside of me. And if we would have
• 11:24
Speaker 1: told them a year ago that we'd be having stock
• 11:27
Speaker 1: prices to side, none of them. In fact I just
• 11:29
Speaker 1: asked them that question, none of them would have believed it.
• 11:33
Speaker 1: And that anures to jobs and very importantly to four
• 11:36
Speaker 1: oh one case, which have also set a record today,
• 11:39
Speaker 1: a record high for the people that have four oh
• 11:41
  Speaker 1: one case.
• 11:43
Speaker 2: And also I want to thank Walmart.
• 11:45
Speaker 1: Because they came up with a fantastic study. It was
• 11:50
Speaker 1: the cost of Thanksgiving coming up and the cost of
• 11:53
Speaker 1: Thanksgiving from a year ago under Sleepy Joe Biden, and
• 11:57
Speaker 1: with twenty five percent lower this year than we were
• 12:01
Speaker 1: a year ago. And it's a very inclusive report. So
• 12:04
Speaker 1: I want to thank Walmart. They've done it for many years,
• 12:07
Speaker 1: but we believe in that and we believe in that company.
• 12:11
  Speaker 2: I want to.
• 12:11
Speaker 1: Also thank the eighth Senate Democrats who finally did the
• 12:14
Speaker 1: right thing in voting to end this craziness, this madness.
• 12:18
Speaker 1: But unfortunately the vast majority of Congressional Democrats were happy
• 12:24
Speaker 1: for millions of Americans to suffer. They really did suffer too,
• 12:28
Speaker 1: and the Democrats admitted, they said, well, no, we finally
• 12:31
Speaker 1: have a point. Even though people have to suffer, we
• 12:33
Speaker 1: finally have a point. And that didn't work out too
• 12:35
Speaker 1: well for them. But they really went out and they
• 12:39
Speaker 1: could appease the fringe benefits.
• 12:42
Speaker 2: Of their far left base.
• 12:44
Speaker 1: But that didn't work out because now they're far left
• 12:46
Speaker 1: base is angrier than ever before. We actually elected a
• 12:51
Speaker 1: mayor of New York City who happens to be a communist.
• 12:54
Speaker 2: When was that going to happen?
• 12:56
Speaker 1: Remember, I said all the time during my campaign, we
• 12:59
Speaker 1: will never be a socialist country, and that's right.
• 13:02
Speaker 2: We turned out to have a communist in.
• 13:04
Speaker 1: New York City and if you look at his views
• 13:07
Speaker 1: are the views of a communist, not a socialist. So
• 13:11
Speaker 1: this is no way to run a country. I hope
• 13:13
Speaker 1: we can all agree that the government should never be
• 13:16
Speaker 1: shut down again again, and the filibuster, terminate the filibuster.
• 13:20
Speaker 2: It will never happen again.
• 13:22
Speaker 1: So with my signature, the federal government will now resume
• 13:26
Speaker 1: normal operations, and my administration and our partners in Congress
• 13:30
Speaker 1: will continue our work to law in the cost of living,
• 13:34
Speaker 1: restore public safety, grower economy, and make America affordable again
• 13:39
Speaker 1: for all Americans again. Costs are way down, energy is
• 13:43
Speaker 1: way down. Gasoline is at two dollars and fifty cents
• 13:47
Speaker 1: a gallon versus four dollars and seventy cents for the Democrats,
• 13:53
Speaker 1: and we think we're going to hit pretty close to two.
• 13:55
  Speaker 2: Dollars a gallon.
• 13:56
Speaker 1: That's like a really massive tax cutcy equivalent of that,
• 14:00
Speaker 1: and speaking of tax cuts, our great, big, beautiful bill
• 14:03
Speaker 1: is giving everybody in our economy, middle income workers, low
• 14:08
Speaker 1: income everybody, the biggest tax cut in the history of
• 14:12
Speaker 1: our country. And there's no tax on tips, no tax
• 14:15
Speaker 1: on Social Security, and very importantly, no tax on overtime.
• 14:19
Speaker 2: You work overtime, there's no tax.
• 14:22
Speaker 1: That's among the things that add up to the biggest
• 14:26
Speaker 1: tax cut in history. One other thing, you know, you
• 14:28
Speaker 1: hear about rich people with deductions. Well, when you buy
• 14:32
Speaker 1: your car and you borrow money, you're allowed to now
• 14:34
Speaker 1: deduct the interest on that loan, so you can take
• 14:38
Speaker 1: that interest deduction. And what you can take is that
• 14:42
Speaker 1: interest payment and deduct it for income tax purposes. That's
• 14:46
Speaker 1: a tremendous tax cut right there. But it all includes
• 14:50
Speaker 1: fixing the healthcare system that Democrats broke with the disaster
• 14:55
Speaker 1: known as Obamacare. Obamacare was a disaster from day one.
• 15:00
Speaker 1: It's done nothing but go up. And if you remember
• 15:02
Speaker 1: President Barack Hussain Obama when he came up with this
• 15:07
Speaker 1: crazy idea, he said, everything's going to be great. Rates
• 15:11
Speaker 1: are going to go down, payments are going to go down,
• 15:13
Speaker 1: everything's going to go down. In what the exact opposite
• 15:16
Speaker 1: with the biggest increase of any of health care in
• 15:19
  Speaker 1: any country.
• 15:20
  Speaker 2: It's a disaster.
• 15:22
Speaker 1: And I'm calling today for insurance companies not to be
• 15:26
Speaker 1: paid but for the money, this massive amount of money,
• 15:29
Speaker 1: to be paid directly to the people of our country
• 15:32
Speaker 1: so that they can buy their own healthcare, which will
• 15:35
Speaker 1: be far better and far less expensive than the disaster
• 15:40
  Speaker 1: known as Obamacare.
• 15:41
  Speaker 2: And I've had I.
• 15:42
Speaker 1: Think great support, I've even had Democrat support. So we
• 15:45
Speaker 1: want the money that would be going to the insurance company,
• 15:48
Speaker 1: which is hundreds of billions of dollars. You know, their
• 15:52
Speaker 1: stock prices have gone up by one thousand percent in
• 15:55
Speaker 1: many cases one thousand percent over a short period of
• 15:58
Speaker 1: time as our country stupidly pays them so much money
• 16:02
Speaker 1: with this Obamacare scandal. So I want the money to
• 16:06
Speaker 1: go directly to you, the people, and you'll go out
• 16:09
Speaker 1: and you'll buy your own health insurance, and you'll negotiate
• 16:12
Speaker 1: different plans and you'll get much better insurance, and you
• 16:15
Speaker 1: will be an entrepreneur for yourself. So I'm always willing
• 16:19
Speaker 1: to work with anyone, including the Party. We'll work on
• 16:22
Speaker 1: something having to do with healthcare. We can do a
• 16:25
Speaker 1: lot better, we can do great, So much money is involved,
• 16:29
Speaker 1: and we're willing to pay so much money to the people.
• 16:32
Speaker 2: So we're going to pay a lot of money to
• 16:33
Speaker 2: the people. They're going to go out.
• 16:35
Speaker 1: And buy their own healthcare, and we're going to forget
• 16:37
Speaker 1: this Obamacare madness. So with all of that, I just
• 16:41
Speaker 1: want to tell you the country has never been in
• 16:43
Speaker 1: better shape. We went through this short term disaster with
• 16:47
Speaker 1: the Democrats because they thought it would be good politically,
• 16:51
Speaker 1: and it's an honor now to sign this incredible bill
• 16:55
Speaker 1: and get our country working again.
• 16:58
Speaker 4: There's a couple different ways from what the President had
• 17:01
Speaker 4: to say there in his remarks. Number one, when he said,
• 17:04
Speaker 4: quote today, we're sending a clear message that we will
• 17:07
Speaker 4: never give in to extortion, because that's what it is.
• 17:11
Speaker 4: They tried to extort. The Democrats tried to extort our country.
• 17:16
Speaker 4: Trump said the Democrats inflicted massive harm and keeping the
• 17:19
Speaker 4: government closed since October the first. There's data that clearly
• 17:23
Speaker 4: backs that up as well, and the President talking about
• 17:27
Speaker 4: what the Democrats actually did, They caused harm, and that
• 17:32
Speaker 4: harm included so many people that couldn't get around the
• 17:35
Speaker 4: country to see family members who were sick, those who
• 17:40
Speaker 4: were dying, those who had died. This was real and
• 17:44
Speaker 4: it was personal, and that's part of the reason why
• 17:46
Speaker 4: the President said it the way he did.
• 17:49
Speaker 1: Makes the Democrats shut down as inflicted massive harm. They

Speaker 1: caused twenty thousand flights to be canceled or delayed. They
• 17:58
Speaker 1: departed so many times so late, people were hurt so badly.
• 18:04
Speaker 1: Nobody's ever seen anything like this one. This was a
• 18:07
Speaker 1: no brainer. This was an easy extension. But they didn't
• 18:11
Speaker 1: want to do it the easy way. They had to
• 18:12
Speaker 1: do it the hard way. They looked very bad the
• 18:14
Speaker 1: Democrats do. They deprived more than one million government workers
• 18:19
Speaker 1: from their paychecks and cut off food stamp benefits for
• 18:22
Speaker 1: millions and millions more Americans than need. They caused tens
• 18:26
Speaker 1: of thousands of federal contractors and small businesses to go unpaid.
• 18:31
Speaker 1: And the total effect of the damage their antics cause
• 18:34
Speaker 1: will take weeks and probably months to really calculate accurately,
• 18:39
Speaker 1: including the serious harm that they did to our economy
• 18:42
Speaker 1: and to people at the families.
• 18:44
Speaker 2: So I just want to tell the American.
• 18:47
Speaker 1: People, you should not forget this when we come up
• 18:49
Speaker 1: to midterms and other things. Don't forget what they've done
• 18:52
  Speaker 1: to our country.
• 18:52
  Speaker 2: You also want.
• 18:53
Speaker 4: To don't forget what they've done to this country. Now,
• 18:58
Speaker 4: this is the fight, and this is where it's going.
• 19:01
Speaker 4: I think there's a very good chance that the government
• 19:04
Speaker 4: is going to be shut down again. Democrats don't think
• 19:08
Speaker 4: that this is a bad thing to hurt the American people.
• 19:12
Speaker 4: But you also have to understand this is par for
• 19:14
Speaker 4: the course with Democrats. Now. When I say that, what
• 19:16
Speaker 4: I mean it's simply put this way. Whatever they have
• 19:21
Speaker 4: to do to weaponize, they will do it. There is
• 19:26
Speaker 4: nothing that the Democrats will not do to hurt Americans.
• 19:31
Speaker 4: Another example of that is what they did with allowing
• 19:34
Speaker 4: millions of illegal immigrants to come into this country. Another
• 19:38
Speaker 4: example of them putting illegal immigrants ahead of American citizens.
• 19:44
Speaker 4: So the government has reopened. The big question now is
• 19:48
Speaker 4: for how long. If the Democrats keep going the way
• 19:52
Speaker 4: they are, there's a very good chance the end of
• 19:54
Speaker 4: January the government will shut down yet again.
