Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome back to The Intel with Greg Cosell.
- 0:10Speaker 1: On Inside the Birds, I'm Jeff Mosher with Adam Kaplan,
- 0:13Speaker 1: and of course we have Greg Cosell with us for
- 0:16Speaker 1: one of the most important series that we do all
- 0:19Speaker 1: year that we begin with this podcast, and that is
- 0:21Speaker 1: our NFL Draft preview of each prospect I position And
- 0:26Speaker 1: of course by the end of this series, we will
- 0:29Speaker 1: have previewed every single position in the NFL Draft except Greg.
- 0:33Speaker 1: We haven't asked you to do this yet. We won't
- 0:35Speaker 1: do long snapper, punter, and kicker. I know you're very
- 0:37Speaker 1: upset about that. Maybe we'll get an extra episode in
- 0:41Speaker 1: there for you. Yeah, we're going to start with quarterbacks.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It's a very interesting year. It reminds me a little
- 0:50Speaker 1: bit of last year, Greg, where there's a clear number
- 0:52Speaker 1: one who's going to go number one, and then probably
- 0:55Speaker 1: some question marks there for all the rest. Last year,
- 0:58Speaker 1: cam Ward goes number one, Jackson Dart goes also in
- 1:01Speaker 1: the first round much later, and then after that no
- 1:05Speaker 1: other first rounder is what was your overall impression when
- 1:08Speaker 1: watching this class of quarterbacks.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Well, you know, one thing I've really come to believe
- 1:15Speaker 2: and I think understand and in conversations I've had is
- 1:19Speaker 2: so much about quarterback play I think is dependent on
- 1:23Speaker 2: team scheme, how he's coached. There's very few guys who
- 1:28Speaker 2: are sort of I don't want to use the word
- 1:30Speaker 2: transcending because that's not the right word. But you know,
- 1:34Speaker 2: the players and everybody's looking for theoretically those players of
- 1:38Speaker 2: Mahomes and Josh Allen. You know, players that can make
- 1:42Speaker 2: those individual plays that are special. But there's not a
- 1:45Speaker 2: lot of guys like that. And if there is someone
- 1:48Speaker 2: who can do that, then what is his proficiency in
- 1:52Speaker 2: the pocket? So in other words, you know, we think
- 1:56Speaker 2: if we're putting it in terms of numbers, you know,
- 1:59Speaker 2: a guy who has almost no outside of structure ability
- 2:02Speaker 2: to be a high level quarterback in the NFL, he
- 2:05Speaker 2: would have to be a nine or ten in terms
- 2:06Speaker 2: of how he performs in the pocket. Can you take
- 2:09Speaker 2: a quarterback like, for instance, we'll talk about Tailing Green,
- 2:13Speaker 2: can tail and Green be a six from the pocket
- 2:15Speaker 2: and still be a really good NFL quarterback? And I
- 2:18Speaker 2: think that's kind of you know, when you evaluate him,
- 2:21Speaker 2: you have to think, number one, what is he now
- 2:24Speaker 2: and what do you think you can get him to be?
- 2:26Speaker 2: But if he ends up being a six or a
- 2:29Speaker 2: seven from the pocket because he has these other traits
- 2:32Speaker 2: that can be special. Can he still be a higher
- 2:35Speaker 2: level NFL quarterback? So you know, I guess my larger
- 2:39Speaker 2: point is this, And there's so many points here, and
- 2:42Speaker 2: we want to talk about the eddividual players. But what
- 2:45Speaker 2: do you often hear you hear someone say a quarterback
- 2:48Speaker 2: has great traits? And what do they normally mean by
- 2:52Speaker 2: that in the world in which we live. That he
- 2:54Speaker 2: can throw it hard and that he has movement ability.
- 2:58Speaker 2: No one talks about really the subtleties, the nuances, the
- 3:01Speaker 2: details of the position. Those are traits, and in fact,
- 3:05Speaker 2: those are traits that are more important than the ability
- 3:09Speaker 2: to throw it hard and run around, but they're very
- 3:12Speaker 2: rarely talked about. When people say someone has great traits,
- 3:16Speaker 2: like Drew Aller has great traits, Why does he have
- 3:19Speaker 2: great traits because he's big, he can throw it hard,
- 3:21Speaker 2: and he's got pretty good mobility. So and we'll get
- 3:25Speaker 2: to him too, But can he play the position from
- 3:29Speaker 2: the pocket the right way at a consistent enough level
- 3:33Speaker 2: to really be a quality NFL quarterback? And he is
- 3:36Speaker 2: one of the most intriguing guys in this draft as
- 3:38Speaker 2: you know Jeff being a Penn Stater just because he
- 3:40Speaker 2: quote unquote has those other traits.
- 3:43Speaker 3: All right, Greg, One thing I want to ask you
- 3:45Speaker 3: as we get start is everything you've said here, maybe
- 3:47Speaker 3: think about something. For as long as you've been watching tape,
- 3:51Speaker 3: how is your review.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Of the quarterback position change over the last twenty years,
- 3:56Speaker 4: let's say since you watched Well.
- 3:57Speaker 2: There's absolutely no question you have to factor in now
- 3:59Speaker 2: as a meaningful part of any quarterback evaluation a quarterback's
- 4:03Speaker 2: ability to make plays outside of structure, because that's that's
- 4:07Speaker 2: become a much more significant part for many reasons. We
- 4:11Speaker 2: won't go into all those now. That could be thirty
- 4:13Speaker 2: minutes in and of itself, but the point is there's
- 4:16Speaker 2: no question. That's why I mentioned tailor in green first,
- 4:20Speaker 2: the fact the ability of a quarterback to beat a defense.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Think of it this way. And I had a great
- 4:26Speaker 2: conversation with Dan P's a number of years ago, and
- 4:30Speaker 2: he basically said, when you play quarterbacks that can make
- 4:33Speaker 2: plays outside of structure, you almost have to have two defenses.
- 4:37Speaker 2: In any pure pass situation, you have to have your
- 4:40Speaker 2: defense for the first two to two point five seconds
- 4:42Speaker 2: of the play and then you have to have a
- 4:44Speaker 2: defense for after the two point five second because the
- 4:47Speaker 2: quarterback can do things after that that if you don't
- 4:50Speaker 2: have some kind of response to he's going to beat you.
- 4:54Speaker 2: So there's no question that there's tremendous value in the
- 4:57Speaker 2: ability of quarterback to make those kinds of play, and
- 5:00Speaker 2: you have to factor that into an evaluation. Look twenty
- 5:05Speaker 2: years ago, well, it makes me think of two quarterbacks
- 5:08Speaker 2: who theoretically were way ahead of their time, Randall Cuttingham
- 5:12Speaker 2: and Michael Vick. When Michael Vick came out in two
- 5:15Speaker 2: thousand and one, I think it was is that it's
- 5:17Speaker 2: right around there. Yeah, yeah, remember what everybody said, Oh,
- 5:21Speaker 2: he can't play in the league because he can't play
- 5:23Speaker 2: from the pocket. You can't be a quarterback that just
- 5:25Speaker 2: you know, runs around and makes those kinds of plays.
- 5:28Speaker 2: You can't build an offense around a quarterback with a
- 5:31Speaker 2: run game. You know, this was over twenty years ago.
- 5:35Speaker 2: If Michael Vick came out now, he'd be seen as
- 5:37Speaker 2: a god, you know, he would because obviously throw the
- 5:41Speaker 2: ball incredibly well, I mean, he'd be seen as you know,
- 5:44Speaker 2: he'd be on Mount Olympus. Yeah, and maybe you know,
- 5:47Speaker 2: and maybe if he came out now, he'd be a
- 5:49Speaker 2: Hall of Famer, you know, because of the way the
- 5:51Speaker 2: game has changed and the way people then would deploy
- 5:54Speaker 2: him based on how the game has changed. Right, But
- 5:57Speaker 2: so so, Adam. The bottom line point is you have
- 6:00Speaker 2: to factor that into the equation. You know, I used
- 6:03Speaker 2: to be so pure in my view of pocket play
- 6:05Speaker 2: because of who taught me the position, you know, Bill
- 6:07Speaker 2: waltsh number one, spending all the years with Ron Jaworski
- 6:10Speaker 2: and others who were pocket people. But you have to
- 6:14Speaker 2: account now for guys that can move around. That matters.
- 6:18Speaker 1: All right, let's get into the quarterbacks, Greg, and we'll
- 6:20Speaker 1: go with the guy who's gonna go number one overall
- 6:22Speaker 1: barring some weird like hole being torn into the universe,
- 6:25Speaker 1: and it's gonna be for Fernando Mendoza going to the
- 6:29Speaker 1: Raiders again, barring some kind of unforeseen craziness. So what
- 6:33Speaker 1: is your evaluation of Fernando Mendoza.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think he speaks to what I was
- 6:39Speaker 2: saying about a quarterback that plays the game with a
- 6:41Speaker 2: sense of the details and the nuances, understanding that it's
- 6:45Speaker 2: a discipline craft. Can he run for a first down? Yes,
- 6:51Speaker 2: But He's not a playmaker in a strict sense, you know.
- 6:54Speaker 2: So when all's said and done, for him to be
- 6:57Speaker 2: a high level quarterback, which I think he can be,
- 7:00Speaker 2: he's going to have to really master the pocket. And
- 7:04Speaker 2: when you watch him in college, and again all I
- 7:07Speaker 2: hope people understand, I'm just pointing out the strengths and
- 7:12Speaker 2: quote unquote weaknesses that show up on tape, and these
- 7:15Speaker 2: are you know, these are legitimate weaknesses that show up
- 7:18Speaker 2: on tape. Doesn't mean he can't be a really good player.
- 7:21Speaker 2: And I hope people understand that. But to me, what
- 7:25Speaker 2: you see on tape when you watch him as a
- 7:27Speaker 2: and what I think he needs to be in the
- 7:29Speaker 2: league is a higher level executor of a well schemed
- 7:33Speaker 2: pass game. He's a ball distributor from the pocket. Now,
- 7:37Speaker 2: a couple of things did stand out to me that
- 7:39Speaker 2: he has to improve upon, you know, at this level,
- 7:42Speaker 2: at this next level. I think he has to become
- 7:45Speaker 2: better at pocket movement, which is different than leaving the pocket.
- 7:49Speaker 2: I think that quarterbacks who are essentially pocket quarterbacks have
- 7:53Speaker 2: to be able to navigate space within the pocket, and
- 7:56Speaker 2: I think he needs to do that better. At times,
- 7:59Speaker 2: he's a little robotic in doing that, and he's a
- 8:02Speaker 2: little more heavy footed than lightfooted within the pocket, so
- 8:06Speaker 2: I think that's an area he needs to improve. Again,
- 8:10Speaker 2: I think he can make the necessary throws. But in
- 8:12Speaker 2: their offense, you didn't see many third down throws between
- 8:16Speaker 2: the numbers. They didn't really do that very much. Now,
- 8:19Speaker 2: did you see some of it? You absolutely did. But
- 8:22Speaker 2: I think overall, the manner in which he plays the
- 8:25Speaker 2: game and the way I've heard him speak about the position,
- 8:29Speaker 2: I think he truly understands what the position is and
- 8:33Speaker 2: to be successful in the NFL, two foundations of his
- 8:37Speaker 2: game have to be pocket efficiency and precise ball placement,
- 8:40Speaker 2: and I think he can do both of those.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Greg on that point, in expanding a little bit more so,
- 8:47Speaker 3: Clint Kubiak is gonna call him offense. It's gonna be
- 8:50Speaker 3: West Coast offense. We know the great job that he
- 8:53Speaker 3: did with Sam Darnold. Do you think, how do you
- 8:56Speaker 3: think they'll work together? Just based on schematics that you've
- 8:58Speaker 3: watched from Kubiak.
- 9:01Speaker 2: I think it'll work well, to be honest with you,
- 9:03Speaker 2: because I think that it's a very coordinated offense. He'll
- 9:07Speaker 2: be under center obviously, which he was not in college,
- 9:09Speaker 2: so that he has to be taught, because you have
- 9:11Speaker 2: to be taught the steps that are involved in that.
- 9:13Speaker 2: This is what I mean about the details and the nuance.
- 9:16Speaker 2: People take this stuff for granted. You can't take this
- 9:18Speaker 2: stuff for granted. You know, he's now going to have
- 9:21Speaker 2: to be an under center quarterback who plays in the
- 9:24Speaker 2: play action pass game and the boot action pass game.
- 9:27Speaker 2: He can do these things. Okay, it's not as if
- 9:29Speaker 2: he can't do it. It's just these are learned traits,
- 9:31Speaker 2: particularly playing under center. But it's a very defined passing game,
- 9:36Speaker 2: and I think that helps pretty much any quarterback. It's
- 9:40Speaker 2: based primarily on what we call pure progression, which is
- 9:44Speaker 2: the way most quarterbacks come into the league. Now, where yes,
- 9:47Speaker 2: do you have to have some understanding of defense, Yes,
- 9:50Speaker 2: you do, but it's very choreographed. It's one to two
- 9:55Speaker 2: to three, and then you're either throwing it away or
- 9:58Speaker 2: you're getting out of the pocket. It's really it's really
- 10:01Speaker 2: a play callers style of offense. You know, the quarterbacks
- 10:04Speaker 2: not coming to the line of scrimmage and pointing out
- 10:06Speaker 2: the mic like we used to see Tom Brady do
- 10:09Speaker 2: all the time. You know, it's it's all defined by
- 10:11Speaker 2: the play caller and the quarterback is an executor. And
- 10:15Speaker 2: I think that fits Mendoza really well. Greg.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I was trying to think of a modern like a
- 10:20Speaker 1: comp right now, of a quarterback who mainly operates from
- 10:23Speaker 1: the pocket, but has enough athleticism to use it if necessary,
- 10:28Speaker 1: and well I came to Sam Darnold or C j
- 10:30Speaker 1: Strous somebody.
- 10:31Speaker 5: Rather well, I think that the quarterback that he probably
- 10:34Speaker 5: to me is most like he's certainly a little more
- 10:37Speaker 5: mobile than the play than the quarterback, I will mention,
- 10:40Speaker 5: but I think for him to be really successful, he'd
- 10:43Speaker 5: have to play like this quarterback and that's Jared Goff.
- 10:46Speaker 6: Okay, that's interesting.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you know now now he's he's a little more
- 10:50Speaker 2: mobile than Golf, right, you know, but but you know
- 10:53Speaker 2: GoF is essentially a pure pocket player. Then you know
- 10:56Speaker 2: plays you know, and certainly when Ben Johnson was there,
- 10:59Speaker 2: played in a great system. We had a very good
- 11:01Speaker 2: year this year too with that Ben Johnson. But I
- 11:03Speaker 2: mean that's he's an executor, you know. And they're both big.
- 11:07Speaker 2: They're both physically built well you know, both over six',
- 11:10Speaker 2: four so they're, big physical quarterbacks that you know when
- 11:15Speaker 2: you see them in the. Pocket they do not look.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Small they're big. Guys.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Right all, right let's talk about the next quarterback, up
- 11:22Speaker 1: and that would Be Alabama's Ty.
- 11:24Speaker 6: Simpson greg what it was your evaluation on?
- 11:27Speaker 2: Him? YEAH i find him to be a fascinating evaluation,
- 11:32Speaker 2: because you, know, AGAIN i think he really knows how
- 11:35Speaker 2: to play the. Position and WHEN i say, THAT i
- 11:37Speaker 2: think he knows how to operate within the. POCKET i
- 11:40Speaker 2: think he knows how to see. THINGS i think he
- 11:42Speaker 2: knows how to go through progression. Reads alabama did do.
- 11:45Speaker 2: That he was even given some freedom to handle and adjust,
- 11:50Speaker 2: protections which is rare for a college. Quarterback that's a
- 11:53Speaker 2: strong positive as he transitions to THE. Nfl but of
- 11:57Speaker 2: course he's only a one year, starter and rarely do
- 12:00Speaker 2: one year starter step right in and play right away with.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Success so we'll. See but you, know the way he
- 12:07Speaker 2: played the. Position he has innate feel for the for
- 12:11Speaker 2: the nuances of the, position the, discipline craft nature of the.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Position there's a natural timing and rhythm to his. Game
- 12:18Speaker 2: he's a quick. Processor he delivers with. Decisiveness you SAW nfl,
- 12:23Speaker 2: Throws you saw a lot of dig, balls you saw
- 12:26Speaker 2: a lot of you, know hole shots on the outside
- 12:28Speaker 2: when it was cover two for. Instance you, know he's fundamentally.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Sound he played for the most part with the repeatable
- 12:35Speaker 2: mechanics through with a firm. Base, uh there was a
- 12:39Speaker 2: lot to like about, him you. KNOW i think that
- 12:43Speaker 2: as the season progressed and there was a little more
- 12:46Speaker 2: pressure on. Him don't, forget they did not have a
- 12:48Speaker 2: great old line this year overall At, alabama and they
- 12:51Speaker 2: could not run the, ball so he faced a lot
- 12:53Speaker 2: AND i went through all his third downs by the,
- 12:55Speaker 2: Way so as the season, progressed you started to see
- 12:58Speaker 2: a lot more pressure on, him a lot more bodies around,
- 13:01Speaker 2: him AND i think that's where he started to struggle a.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Bit and obviously in THE nfl you face that more
- 13:07Speaker 2: than you do even in. College but you know so
- 13:10Speaker 2: because EVERYTHING i think with him as far as throwing
- 13:13Speaker 2: the ball is very repeatable and. Mechanical not in a bad,
- 13:16Speaker 2: way BUT i, mean he's one of those guys that
- 13:19Speaker 2: when everything's, right he looks very pretty throwing the ball
- 13:22Speaker 2: because he's always got a firm. Base he holds the
- 13:25Speaker 2: ball staging as we call, it where he holds the
- 13:27Speaker 2: ball all that's really. Good but when that gets a
- 13:30Speaker 2: little changed because of. PRESSURE i think everything speeds, up
- 13:34Speaker 2: and then he missed some wide open throws that you
- 13:37Speaker 2: just can't miss in THE.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Nfl, Greg the thing that worries me is what you've
- 13:41Speaker 3: brought up is that he's only a one year.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Starter.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Yep AND i remember talking To Bill pauling about. This,
- 13:47Speaker 3: yeah the history of one year starters making to the
- 13:49Speaker 3: next levels not very.
- 13:50Speaker 2: High, no certainly not, early very, low certainly not. Early
- 13:55Speaker 2: so you, know again you're dealing with a kid now
- 13:57Speaker 2: depending on where he's. Drafted and don't, forget he's only
- 14:00Speaker 2: six to one in an. Eighth he's not. Big he
- 14:02Speaker 2: doesn't have big, hands WHICH i know a lot of
- 14:04Speaker 2: people look, at you, know a lot of evaluators and
- 14:08Speaker 2: coaches look at he has small hands relative to the quarterback.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Position and LIKE i, said he's only six to. One
- 14:14Speaker 2: he's not a big. Man and he does have mobility
- 14:17Speaker 2: because when he came out of high school he was
- 14:19Speaker 2: viewed as a dual threat, quarterback not as a pure pocket.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Player so he does have, mobility but he is not.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Big so you, know all these things factor into why
- 14:30Speaker 2: there's pros and cons with Ty simpson as you look
- 14:33Speaker 2: to his projection and.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Transition, yeah sounds like you like this guy if he
- 14:38Speaker 1: winds up in the RIGHT statsinari six a year behind
- 14:41Speaker 1: maybe a bridge quarterback for a year or, two and
- 14:43Speaker 1: really learns just how to play the game a little,
- 14:45Speaker 1: more and you can add something.
- 14:47Speaker 2: THERE i, mean you, know you hate to always bring
- 14:49Speaker 2: up certain, coaches BUT i, Mean, deef you just nailed.
- 14:52Speaker 2: It so just to play off what you, said you,
- 14:55Speaker 2: know you think of like if he were to be
- 14:56Speaker 2: in in A Kyle shanahan offense where you don't have
- 14:59Speaker 2: to be six for you, know to function. Effectively you,
- 15:04Speaker 2: KNOW i would imagine he could probably play in A
- 15:07Speaker 2: sean McVeigh offense as. Well but you're you nailed, That
- 15:10Speaker 2: you're one hundred percent. RIGHT i think He's he's a
- 15:13Speaker 2: classic case to me of team scheme. Coaching you, know
- 15:17Speaker 2: he's not just a. Guy oh let's Get. Simpson, man
- 15:19Speaker 2: he's going to be the. Guy you, know and by the,
- 15:22Speaker 2: way as we said at the, beginning there's very few
- 15:24Speaker 2: of those.
- 15:24Speaker 6: Guys right, Right?
- 15:26Speaker 2: Greg, yeah the next.
- 15:29Speaker 3: GUY i thought two years, ago this guy Dark Nuss
- 15:33Speaker 3: mar From, ellison he was going to be the next
- 15:37Speaker 3: quarterback to go late mid late first, round where people
- 15:40Speaker 3: seem to be consistent with, him and then this past season.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Happened so let's break down his. Tape what did you
- 15:46Speaker 4: see from, them not only this season but last two?
- 15:48Speaker 2: Season, YEAH i watched him last. SUMMER i watched six
- 15:51Speaker 2: games last summer from twenty twenty, four AND i came
- 15:54Speaker 2: away from watching those six games that that Nuss meyer
- 15:58Speaker 2: had higher level throwing. Trades the MORE i watched his,
- 16:01Speaker 2: tape the MORE i came away feeling that his natural
- 16:03Speaker 2: arm talent and aggressive throwing mentality had the look of
- 16:06Speaker 2: a starting quarterback who could make the kinds of throws
- 16:09Speaker 2: demanded at the next. LEVEL i thought he saw the field.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Well he was almost too, aggressive you, know with his,
- 16:16Speaker 2: mentality and made some reckless throws into. Coverage BUT i
- 16:19Speaker 2: always feel that that can be. Channeled i'd rather see
- 16:21Speaker 2: a guy be aggressive than you, know throw checkdowns all,
- 16:24Speaker 2: day you, Know SO i think THAT i. SAW i
- 16:27Speaker 2: came away from watching the six games in twenty twenty
- 16:29Speaker 2: four last summer thinking this guy's AN nfl. Starter and
- 16:33Speaker 2: then this year happened and there was just AND i
- 16:37Speaker 2: know he was, hurt but all we can do is
- 16:38Speaker 2: evaluate when he's playing. Football that's all we can, do
- 16:41Speaker 2: and there just seemed to be that aggressive, mentality wasn't.
- 16:45Speaker 2: There he seemed to, play you, know a little, tentative,
- 16:50Speaker 2: hesitant and then when he was, aggressive he was too
- 16:54Speaker 2: reckless and not making the right. Reads and by the,
- 16:57Speaker 2: way this is not every. Throw i'm just talking about.
- 16:59Speaker 2: General but, there it's there within. Him you, know, again
- 17:03Speaker 2: now you need a. COACH i would doubt he'll be
- 17:06Speaker 2: a first round, pick BUT i think there's something there
- 17:09Speaker 2: within him that that could make him a. Start you,
- 17:14Speaker 2: know it wouldn't surprise me if in three years he's
- 17:17Speaker 2: a starting quarterback in the. League we wouldn't necessarily be
- 17:20Speaker 2: talking about him in the top five, quarterbacks but we'd,
- 17:22Speaker 2: say you, know this guy's a quality starter in THE.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Nfl but, again it comes down to What jeff. Said you,
- 17:27Speaker 2: know it's it's team scheme. Coaching you, know that's that's
- 17:30Speaker 2: gonna be so, critical both For simpson and For.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Nussmeyer, Yeah, greg And i'm sure you know, this and
- 17:38Speaker 1: this doesn't factor into per se, evaluation or maybe it.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Does he was very open at the combine that all
- 17:44Speaker 1: year long he was dealing with a major. Injury, yeah
- 17:48Speaker 1: he suffered in the, preseason and he, said and a
- 17:51Speaker 1: lot of quarterbacks won't come out and, Say i'm you,
- 17:53Speaker 1: KNOW i appreciate that he did that it absolutely because
- 17:56Speaker 1: there was an abdominal torso injury that it absolutely impacted
- 18:00Speaker 1: his throw and his ability to make the throws that
- 18:03Speaker 1: you might have.
- 18:04Speaker 6: Seen the year before when you thought it was the
- 18:06Speaker 6: top like a really good.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Quarterback so glad you brought that, up BECAUSE i thought
- 18:10Speaker 2: his throwing motion this, year and, again you, KNOW i
- 18:14Speaker 2: knew that he had an. INJURY i couldn't remember AS
- 18:16Speaker 2: i was watching the, injury watching him what the exact injury.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Was but obviously if it's anything in your core, area
- 18:22Speaker 2: that's major for any, sport any. Position BUT i thought
- 18:26Speaker 2: his throwing motion this year was, different and AND i
- 18:29Speaker 2: felt like he was like, snapping you, know in other,
- 18:32Speaker 2: words that he couldn't use he couldn't core torque and
- 18:35Speaker 2: wait transfer you know that everything was like a, snap you,
- 18:38Speaker 2: Know AND i and and, again when you do, that
- 18:40Speaker 2: you're gonna lose. Accuracy it just it doesn't look the.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Same he just didn't look the, same, Right and so he.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Didn't admit he admit that it impacted not only his pain,
- 18:51Speaker 1: tolerance but his his mechanics and throwing mode.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Out and now that you say that without, QUESTION i
- 18:56Speaker 2: can NOW i can see it in my mind's. Eye you,
- 18:58Speaker 2: know he just didn't look this because the year, Before
- 19:01Speaker 2: i'm telling you, AGAIN i wasn't going to, say after
- 19:04Speaker 2: the year, before oh he's the first pick in the,
- 19:05Speaker 2: draft this guy's the greatest Quarterback i've ever. Seen but
- 19:08Speaker 2: he looked like AN nfl quarterback in twenty twenty.
- 19:10Speaker 6: Four you, know, yeah to, me this guy has a
- 19:13Speaker 6: chance to probably.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Maybe even go above where people think because what AT
- 19:17Speaker 1: nfl scouts typically.
- 19:19Speaker 6: Do And, adam you know this as much as, anyone
- 19:20Speaker 6: so you.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Do, greg?
- 19:21Speaker 1: Right is that A they get the guy medically checked
- 19:23Speaker 1: out many, times and then once they discover that he
- 19:27Speaker 1: had this, issue which they all know about by this,
- 19:30Speaker 1: point they go back to the tape that You they
- 19:32Speaker 1: go back to the tape to the year of, four
- 19:34Speaker 1: and they get a Better there was a wide RECEIVER
- 19:36Speaker 1: i can't remember with some of The eagles who were
- 19:38Speaker 1: either interested in or. DRAFTED i remember talking to a
- 19:40Speaker 1: couple of their guys and they, said we had to
- 19:41Speaker 1: go watch the tape from the year before because we
- 19:43Speaker 1: knew he was dealing with an tape the year before
- 19:46Speaker 1: was great and so this this could be the only
- 19:48Speaker 1: THING i would question wonder about him is greg is
- 19:50Speaker 1: he's only about six ONE.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I, believe, YEAH i, yeah, yeah, okay so that's really you,
- 19:59Speaker 2: know he's, yeah and again not, big but he does have.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Mobility he's not just a pure pocket. GUY i, mean
- 20:05Speaker 2: in my strengths WHEN i watched him in two twenty,
- 20:07Speaker 2: Four i've got a lot of straints and you, know
- 20:09Speaker 2: the WAY i do WHAT i do, strengths, weaknesses, transition
- 20:12Speaker 2: other AND i have a lot of. STRAINTS i mean
- 20:15Speaker 2: in twenty twenty, four you, know there there were a
- 20:18Speaker 2: lot of dash, concepts boot. Concepts he had quick feet
- 20:20Speaker 2: with easy. Movement he made second reaction. Plays not not
- 20:24Speaker 2: as a run around you, know like Like josh Or,
- 20:26Speaker 2: patrick BUT i mean he could move around and make.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Throws he worked through. Progressions don't forget we know who
- 20:32Speaker 2: his dad. IS i would imagine, that you know when
- 20:36Speaker 2: he coaches talked to him and bring him in for,
- 20:38Speaker 2: that you, know the thirty. Visits you, know he's one
- 20:40Speaker 2: of the guys that he can talk the, game you,
- 20:42Speaker 2: know pretty. EFFECTIVELY i, mean he grew up in the,
- 20:45Speaker 2: game SO i would. Imagine, AGAIN i don't know him personally,
- 20:49Speaker 2: obviously So i'm just speculating, here BUT i assume he'll
- 20:52Speaker 2: present himself well in those. Areas if you guys know,
- 20:55Speaker 2: different please jump. In BUT i would assume he'll do
- 20:58Speaker 2: well in, THAT i would.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Think, so, yeah all, right let's move. On we'll talk
- 21:02Speaker 1: About Tennessee's joey is It?
- 21:04Speaker 2: Aguilar who are? Who you know? What i'm gonna Give
- 21:08Speaker 2: Chris simms credit here BECAUSE i. Wasn't he wasn't necessarily
- 21:12Speaker 2: at the top of my list because of the way
- 21:13Speaker 2: it all played. Out AND i happen to See Chris,
- 21:16Speaker 2: simms WHO i respect tremendously BECAUSE i know what he,
- 21:19Speaker 2: does and he had him as HIS i think fourth
- 21:22Speaker 2: rated quarterback in the. Draft SO i, said you know,
- 21:25Speaker 2: WHAT i got to watch this. Kid So i've watched four.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Games i'm actually gonna watch one or two more just
- 21:29Speaker 2: BECAUSE i have to see SOME sec defensive players as.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Well and so if they Played, TENNESSEE i See. AGLAAR
- 21:36Speaker 2: i was kind of intrigued by this. KID i, mean you,
- 21:39Speaker 2: know first of, all he's six three in a quarter
- 21:41Speaker 2: and he looks big on. Tape he weighs two twenty. Nine,
- 21:45Speaker 2: okay so he looks, big AND i hope people understand
- 21:49Speaker 2: that's a. Trait you, know most quarterback coaches and you
- 21:52Speaker 2: guys know. This they would much rather have a bigger
- 21:55Speaker 2: quarterback than a smaller. Quarterback, now you, know obviously that,
- 21:59Speaker 2: also you, know getting back to What adam asked me
- 22:02Speaker 2: about changing my my points of, VIEW i think we
- 22:05Speaker 2: now accept that smaller quarterbacks are part of the. Equation you,
- 22:08Speaker 2: know twenty years, ago if a guy was six feet
- 22:11Speaker 2: he'd be. Discarded you, know this guy can't play in the.
- 22:13Speaker 2: LEAGUE i think that's the other thing you have to,
- 22:15Speaker 2: understand WHICH i try to understand WHEN i, watch is you,
- 22:18Speaker 2: know just because a guy six feet or six feet
- 22:19Speaker 2: and a half inch or maybe even five eleven and seven,
- 22:22Speaker 2: eighths if he's got certain skill sets and, trades he's
- 22:25Speaker 2: a LEGIT nfl. Prospect. Yeah now he's A hall Of
- 22:30Speaker 2: famer and obviously not Everybody's Drew. Brees but, yeah but
- 22:32Speaker 2: you have, to you, know you have to start to
- 22:34Speaker 2: think that way a little. More LIKE i, said twenty years,
- 22:36Speaker 2: ago those, guys you, know maybe maybe twenty five whatever years,
- 22:40Speaker 2: ago those guys were. Discarded but so, Anyway agilar looks
- 22:44Speaker 2: very big on, tape and and there's just there's a
- 22:48Speaker 2: comfort to the way he. PLAYS i, mean you, know
- 22:51Speaker 2: he's got really clean. Footwork he throws with core torque
- 22:55Speaker 2: and weight. Transfer he clears his back hip on his,
- 22:58Speaker 2: delivery which allows, him you, know to throw with pretty
- 23:01Speaker 2: good arm. Strength, NOW i would say that his arm
- 23:04Speaker 2: strength on intermediate throws is really. GOOD i would say
- 23:07Speaker 2: that his deeper throws were not you, know they lost.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Energy it's a very strange phenomenon to. ME i think
- 23:14Speaker 2: that he showed a tendency to be a beat late
- 23:17Speaker 2: on some throws and that he certainly has to be
- 23:19Speaker 2: cleaned up if it can. Be but he made some,
- 23:23Speaker 2: aggressive tight window. Throws and one POINT i really want
- 23:25Speaker 2: to make this was not the air raid offense that every.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Like if you have not watched his tape and people,
- 23:32Speaker 2: say oh It's, tennessee these guys never make, it they
- 23:35Speaker 2: did not play like that this. YEAR i, mean obviously
- 23:38Speaker 2: they had plays like, it but that Wasn't it wasn't
- 23:42Speaker 2: like Watching Hindon hooker a few years, ago where everything
- 23:45Speaker 2: was so spread. Out they ran a lot of, reduced tighter.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Formations this was much more like AN nfl offense WITH
- 23:52Speaker 2: nfl route concepts than we've seen From. Tennessee SO i
- 23:56Speaker 2: just want people to understand that this was not, oh
- 23:58Speaker 2: he can't play in the league because he played At.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Tennessee SO i found. Him you, know to, me he'll get.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Drafted now, again he's. OLDER i get all, that and
- 24:09Speaker 2: and for some teams that, matters for some teams that.
- 24:11Speaker 2: DOESN'T i think he'll get, drafted AND i think that
- 24:15Speaker 2: he has starting, traits not it would Take he's a developmental.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Guy you. KNOW i don't want people to Think i'm
- 24:21Speaker 2: saying this guy should be in the top twenty and
- 24:23Speaker 2: you know he's your your day one. Starter BUT i
- 24:25Speaker 2: think this guy can play in the. League.
- 24:28Speaker 3: Greg you, KNOW i was asking a scout who is
- 24:31Speaker 3: who's got the The midwest.
- 24:33Speaker 4: AREA i, said, hey is there anyone at these small
- 24:35Speaker 4: schools you?
- 24:36Speaker 3: Like he, goes, well there's a kid that's intriguing At
- 24:39Speaker 3: North Dakota state and they've had a history of getting
- 24:41Speaker 3: some guys in the in the league at.
- 24:43Speaker 4: Quarterback and this guy is Col. Peyton tell us About Col,
- 24:46Speaker 4: Payton Cole.
- 24:46Speaker 2: PEYTON i mean he was he's a fun, watch and
- 24:50Speaker 2: again he's not ready to play in THE. Nfl but
- 24:53Speaker 2: but you, know this guy's a big, dude by the.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Way so the thing about you, know he's only a
- 24:58Speaker 2: one year starter, too you got to keep that in.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Mind but he never, left you, know he stayed there
- 25:02Speaker 2: for all those years while other quarterbacks, played WHICH i
- 25:06Speaker 2: find really. Interesting but, hey you know that's his. Choice
- 25:10Speaker 2: but he's so intriguing in many ways because of, size,
- 25:13Speaker 2: physicality the dual threat. Profile you, know as we, spoke
- 25:19Speaker 2: THE nfl increasingly values quarterback athleticism and, mobility you, know
- 25:24Speaker 2: certainly versus this cyclical evolution OF nfl defense with so
- 25:28Speaker 2: much changing coverage pictures and more detailed and nuanced pressure.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Schemes so you, know again it gets back to that initial,
- 25:34Speaker 2: discussion but about quarterbacks that can. Move but he is
- 25:39Speaker 2: far from a refined quarterback when it comes to pocket
- 25:41Speaker 2: play and throwing. Trades most of his throws were highly
- 25:45Speaker 2: schemed concepts that really presented predetermined. Reads but what you
- 25:50Speaker 2: love watching this kid is there as a competitive toughness
- 25:53Speaker 2: to his. Game he plays with swagger that at times
- 25:56Speaker 2: transcended what his limitations. Are sore so much to clean
- 26:02Speaker 2: up and rework with this. Kid as far as his,
- 26:04Speaker 2: mechanics you, know don't forget now he Needs he would
- 26:08Speaker 2: need so much time, also not only the fundamental, part
- 26:11Speaker 2: but to absorb all the personnel formation, shifts, motions route
- 26:15Speaker 2: concepts that POPULATE nfl, playbooks you, know along with what defenses.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Do so this guy is a clear. Project but he's
- 26:24Speaker 2: a fascinating, guy you, know to take for teams that, believe,
- 26:28Speaker 2: hey you got to take a quarterback in every, draft you,
- 26:29Speaker 2: know some teams believe, That, yeah to take this guy
- 26:32Speaker 2: later in the. Draft would you, know he's not competing
- 26:37Speaker 2: for a starting, Job but to take this guy later
- 26:39Speaker 2: in the draft if you really believe in your quarterback,
- 26:43Speaker 2: development you, know and you don't feel, like, admit, look, no,
- 26:47Speaker 2: Coach i'm sure it feels like they're going to be
- 26:48Speaker 2: there for the next, three four or five. Years but
- 26:50Speaker 2: if he was in a situation where that was indeed the,
- 26:53Speaker 2: case you might have something down the.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Road, hey if he can't make it in THE nfl
- 26:57Speaker 1: with a name Like Cole, peyton there's got to BE.
- 27:00Speaker 6: Nascar career ahead of.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Him, yeah.
- 27:03Speaker 6: All, Right, greg let's do. It let's get To Drew, Aller.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Yeah Drew aller is arguably one of the most frustrating
- 27:13Speaker 2: watches for the. Quarterbacks I'VE i kept Thinking Drew aller
- 27:16Speaker 2: was gonna come. Out So i've Watched Drew aller's tape
- 27:19Speaker 2: from twenty twenty, three twenty twenty, four and this. Year
- 27:22Speaker 2: So i've seen a lot of dropbacks By Drew, aller
- 27:26Speaker 2: and you, know he's one of those guys he'll make.
- 27:30Speaker 2: THROWS i, MEAN i go, BACK i think to twenty
- 27:32Speaker 2: twenty three when he threw a sixty yard touchdown on
- 27:35Speaker 2: a deep post Versus Michigan. State and that was twenty twenty,
- 27:38Speaker 2: three SO i didn't have a lot of you, know
- 27:40Speaker 2: tape yet on, him And i'm, Thinking, wow this, GUY i,
- 27:43Speaker 2: mean that's just he made that throw like he was
- 27:45Speaker 2: having a catch in the. Backyard it was his sixty
- 27:47Speaker 2: yard deep. POST i don't know if you remember.
- 27:49Speaker 6: It, OH i remember.
- 27:50Speaker 3: It.
- 27:51Speaker 2: YEAH i, mean you, know, look you know to use cliche,
- 27:56Speaker 2: terms but they're true in this. Case he's a high
- 27:59Speaker 2: level arm. Talent he's got great, size he can make
- 28:02Speaker 2: throws anywhere on the field from multiple. Platforms, look you,
- 28:08Speaker 2: know you know, ME i don't really rip, coaches BUT
- 28:11Speaker 2: i just That Penn state, offense to, me is a
- 28:14Speaker 2: hard offense to watch from a passing game, Perspective so
- 28:18Speaker 2: WHEN i think people are going to factor that into the,
- 28:20Speaker 2: equation but within the context of that, offense you, KNOW
- 28:25Speaker 2: i just didn't think that he saw the field really.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Well you, KNOW i didn't think that there was a
- 28:31Speaker 2: clarity and speed to how he played the. Game and you,
- 28:36Speaker 2: know obviously he's got those quote unquote physical, traits you,
- 28:39Speaker 2: know and you, know my daughters could tell you that
- 28:42Speaker 2: that's not that's not a profound, evaluation you, know but
- 28:46Speaker 2: there's something missing in his game from just AND i
- 28:50Speaker 2: hate to use a, cliched meetingless phrase like, consistency but
- 28:54Speaker 2: there's just you just don't see him play the right
- 28:57Speaker 2: way often, enough and it just seems as if he's
- 29:00Speaker 2: not seeing it the way he needs to see, it you.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Know and and that's a tough. Thing you. Know some
- 29:07Speaker 2: coaches will tell you that can be, fixed and some
- 29:09Speaker 2: coaches will tell you that can't be. Fixed SO i
- 29:12Speaker 2: think where he gets drafted will dictate how a coach
- 29:15Speaker 2: feels about the ability to sort of fix that or
- 29:18Speaker 2: help that.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Along, yeah patients, here in, Fact i'd say with this
- 29:22Speaker 3: class as we will close it up in a few
- 29:23Speaker 3: minutes because the next. Guy WHAT i like about Cave
- 29:27Speaker 3: klubnik is he did start three years At.
- 29:30Speaker 4: Clemson, yeah and then it's kind of and.
- 29:34Speaker 3: It's kind of like this, class like there's stuff you,
- 29:36Speaker 3: like stuff that needs. Work what are your thoughts on this?
- 29:39Speaker 2: Guy? Yeah, again this was just pure. TAPE i always
- 29:44Speaker 2: came away wanting. More you. Know what they first of
- 29:47Speaker 2: all comes in is another offense that's that's really hard
- 29:50Speaker 2: to project to THE. NFL i, mean it's all quick game, timing,
- 29:54Speaker 2: THROWS rpo. Concepts there's very little drop back passing game
- 29:58Speaker 2: that really demanded progression. Reading you, know he tends to
- 30:02Speaker 2: drift and drift drift in his, drops which creates his
- 30:05Speaker 2: own pressure now that theoretically can be coached and. Fixed
- 30:09Speaker 2: he perceived, Pressure he moved. Unnecessarily you, know he didn't
- 30:13Speaker 2: function well when the pocket was dirty and. Squeezed. Uh you,
- 30:17Speaker 2: KNOW i JUST i just came away from Watching Club
- 30:20Speaker 2: nick feeling that there was no trait THAT i could
- 30:23Speaker 2: hang my hat on that. That you, Know, okay this
- 30:26Speaker 2: is what this guy's going to be in the. League you.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Know now, again now you get into you, know team
- 30:32Speaker 2: scheme and all that. Stuff BUT i came away almost
- 30:35Speaker 2: feeling like Club nick fits more into like the Tailer,
- 30:40Speaker 2: heineke you know the, category the you know the Case keenum,
- 30:44Speaker 2: category those kinds of. Players then he could play in the,
- 30:48Speaker 2: league you, know probably for a long, time and if
- 30:50Speaker 2: you had to, stardom depending on what else you have
- 30:52Speaker 2: on your, team you could do. That BUT i just
- 30:55Speaker 2: didn't come away from his. Tape and again another guy
- 30:57Speaker 2: THAT i kept thinking would come, out So i've seen
- 30:59Speaker 2: a lot of. THROAT i just didn't come away, feeling
- 31:02Speaker 2: you know what this guy's is STARTING nfl.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Quarterback, hey if you're like, me you're desensitized to the

- 33:15Speaker 1: Pros Camedn, Apothecary top quality, cannabis great, prices and an
- 33:20Speaker 1: experience made For philly. Fans twenty one and. Up, greg
- 33:24Speaker 1: let's sort of fly through like three guys at.
- 33:26Speaker 2: One so we got to talk about Tailing. Green, yes oh, yeah.
- 33:29Speaker 6: That we were about to do.
- 33:30Speaker 1: THAT i was gonna start With Tailing green and then
- 33:32Speaker 1: go hit you With Carson beck And Pavia.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Diegle oh, yeah, Well, PAVIA i didn't really watch a
- 33:36Speaker 2: lot of although he threw it great at the. COMBINE
- 33:38Speaker 2: i will admit that he threw it, great BUT i
- 33:41Speaker 2: didn't watch his, tape and you, know, AGAIN i don't
- 33:45Speaker 2: know how teams are gonna feel about. Him he just
- 33:47Speaker 2: looks like a ninth. GRADER i, mean he's so, small
- 33:50Speaker 2: and in person he really looks. Small But i'll tell you,
- 33:54Speaker 2: what he threw it really well at the. Combine OBVIOUSLY
- 33:56Speaker 2: i saw him ON. TV i just didn't have n't
- 33:58Speaker 2: done his. Tape you kind of like the way he,
- 34:00Speaker 2: plays but you, know is a guy that's small going
- 34:04Speaker 2: to be AN nfl? Quarterback that's That that's a huge.
- 34:07Speaker 4: Question, sure So i'm super intrigued by.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Him, GUYS i watched a lot for some, reason and
- 34:15Speaker 3: our guy, Now Brian. Silverfield he won't be coaching, him
- 34:18Speaker 3: But Brian silverford's The arkansas head, coach AND i look
- 34:20Speaker 3: forward to talking to him what he's self from the?
- 34:22Speaker 4: Tape so what do you see from this guy Tailoring?
- 34:25Speaker 2: Green he's the classic case of the balance between just
- 34:28Speaker 2: being ridiculously special at times improvisationally versus the. POCKET i,
- 34:34Speaker 2: mean he's he's a work in progress from the. Pocket
- 34:37Speaker 2: he's gonna have to learn really how to play from
- 34:39Speaker 2: the pocket at an APPROPRIATE nfl. Level you, know there
- 34:43Speaker 2: was just too many snapshots of slow. Processing he was
- 34:46Speaker 2: a beat late with a lot of. Throws he doesn't
- 34:49Speaker 2: really have a big, arm you, know he doesn't really
- 34:51Speaker 2: snap it. Off there's no twitch to him as a.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Thrower so the question, is does the does his athleticism
- 35:01Speaker 2: and his ability to do those kinds of really unbelievably special,
- 35:05Speaker 2: things you, know at almost six' six and we all
- 35:08Speaker 2: know what he did the combine with what he ran
- 35:10Speaker 2: and the vertical jump and, the athleticism can all that
- 35:16Speaker 2: supersede the fact that he has so much to learn
- 35:19Speaker 2: from playing from, The pocket and, YOU know i think
- 35:22Speaker 2: he's a work. In progress, you know is somebody gonna
- 35:26Speaker 2: look at him, and think, hey man this guy really
- 35:28Speaker 2: expands our offense and this guy really makes it difficult, on,
- 35:31Speaker 2: defenses which by, the way those. Guys do that's what
- 35:34Speaker 2: we talked about at. The beginning those. Guys do so
- 35:38Speaker 2: it's almost LIKE what i said at. The beginning, you
- 35:40Speaker 2: know right now he's probably a four from. The pocket
- 35:43Speaker 2: can you get him to? His seven and then with
- 35:45Speaker 2: his other tremendous, athletic traits, you know can he be
- 35:49Speaker 2: a guy that you can at least run your offense
- 35:53Speaker 2: with enough of your playbook and the pressure and stress
- 35:56Speaker 2: it creates on. The defense so you know he's it's
- 35:59Speaker 2: just a matter. Of.
- 36:00Speaker 4: Time jeff he ran a four three six forty you.
- 36:03Speaker 4: Just saw you know that.
- 36:03Speaker 2: That's insane and his vertical jump was forty three, to
- 36:06Speaker 2: five which you know that used To be. Adam's vertical
- 36:10Speaker 2: but he's really gone down. A.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Little, Yeah yeah. I'M glad i don't think there were
- 36:16Speaker 1: any reports at Him at kama where they're trying to
- 36:18Speaker 1: get this guy to move to different positions because.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Of athletics how many did ask him that recently and
- 36:22Speaker 2: he said.
- 36:23Speaker 3: No, CHANCE yeah i mean he is six five and seven,
- 36:26Speaker 3: a's now this.
- 36:28Speaker 6: Is interesting someone's gonna fall him. Over it, you know
- 36:30Speaker 6: someone's Gonna.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Fall yeah thirty four to three quarter inch arms almost
- 36:34Speaker 3: thirty fits left.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Tackle. Arms yes and Then there's Carson. Beck good that's
- 36:40Speaker 2: another guy that you know in some ways he's He's
- 36:43Speaker 2: like mendoza and that he's a pocket executor and. Ball
- 36:46Speaker 2: distributor he needs the, pass games schematics and route concepts
- 36:49Speaker 2: versus the coverage to present him with. Clean throats when,
- 36:53Speaker 2: it doesn't he. Can struggle, YOU know i think that
- 36:57Speaker 2: we've seen too many times where, you know between, the
- 37:01Speaker 2: numbers he just doesn't see it the way you need to. See,
- 37:04Speaker 2: it now can that be? Fixed Again and i'm not,
- 37:08Speaker 2: a coach, you know you have to the coaches might
- 37:11Speaker 2: have different points of view, on that. YOU know i
- 37:14Speaker 2: think that he's a Little BIT and i don't know
- 37:18Speaker 2: if he was told This at MIAMI and i watched
- 37:21Speaker 2: another guy thought it was going to. COME out, I
- 37:23Speaker 2: mean i've watched him since twenty twenty three when he
- 37:25Speaker 2: had the great Year at georgia and he really looked
- 37:27Speaker 2: LIKE an. Nfl quarterback but this Year at miami he
- 37:31Speaker 2: tended to really throw a lot of Check DOWN so
- 37:34Speaker 2: i don't know if he, was told, you, know hey
- 37:36Speaker 2: if you don't, see it check, it down we've got a,
- 37:38Speaker 2: great defense you. KNOW that i, don't know but he
- 37:42Speaker 2: definitely played risk averse this year for the. MOST part
- 37:46Speaker 2: i would say his arm, is good but it's not,
- 37:48Speaker 2: gun like, you know like his, MENTALITY is i can
- 37:52Speaker 2: make a lot of. Stick throws sometimes that doesn't work because,
- 37:56Speaker 2: you know he's not a, gun thrower and sometimes he
- 37:59Speaker 2: just doesn't see guys in the middle of the field
- 38:03Speaker 2: the way that you. Need to so can he be
- 38:06Speaker 2: an executor of a really well, schemed, offense PROBABLY but
- 38:10Speaker 2: i think there's things that need to be.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Cleaned up, It's, interesting greg as you went for this
- 38:15Speaker 3: class here we talk about, claim PROSPECTS and i understand no.
- 38:20Speaker 3: One's perfect they're prospects right this, class here just based
- 38:24Speaker 3: on what you've talked about this last half an hour,
- 38:26Speaker 3: or so there's no one, who's so, oh wow you,
- 38:29Speaker 3: know what we kind of know what this guy's going.
- 38:31Speaker 3: To be he should be really good relatively. Right away
- 38:33Speaker 3: with the first. Two seasons it seems like they all have.
- 38:36Speaker 3: PRETTY clause, i mean that's this is that kind. Of
- 38:41Speaker 3: class AND like, i said this is these these. Are
- 38:44Speaker 3: Prospects so i'm not sitting here saying none of these
- 38:47Speaker 3: guys can ever play in.
- 38:48Speaker 2: The league that's not. The point this is where they
- 38:50Speaker 2: are now in. Their development they, you know they, need
- 38:53Speaker 2: work they need things to be, cleaned up they need
- 38:56Speaker 2: the other things we, spoke about, team, scheme coaching all kinds.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Of things, you know you rarely want a, young Quarterback,
- 39:03Speaker 2: even mendoza who's probably the most advanced in terms of
- 39:07Speaker 2: the nuances of, the position, you know you don't want
- 39:09Speaker 2: him to be in a position where he has to
- 39:10Speaker 2: drop back thirty five times in. Every week, you know
- 39:13Speaker 2: you just you don't want that with a young quarterback
- 39:16Speaker 2: because if you're, doing that that means you're facing a
- 39:18Speaker 2: lot of third downs and pure pass situations where the
- 39:21Speaker 2: defense is going to show you a lot of things
- 39:23Speaker 2: that you've not seen and that you know you're not really.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Comfortable with, you, Know look i'm not a Quarterback and
- 39:30Speaker 2: i've never, done IT but i, You know i've done
- 39:32Speaker 2: this work for a lot. Of YEARS all i do is.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Watch tape, YOU know i talk to a ton, of
- 39:35Speaker 2: people and, you know you don't have a lot of
- 39:37Speaker 2: time when you take. The, snap man if you don't
- 39:40Speaker 2: see it, right, away boyd does that internal clock start
- 39:43Speaker 2: speeding up even more than the two point five seconds
- 39:46Speaker 2: that you think, you have and all of, a sudden,
- 39:48Speaker 2: you know you, you know everything goes a. Little haywire
- 39:51Speaker 2: and there's some quarterbacks that never get, beyond that no
- 39:54Speaker 2: matter how much quote unquote talent that. They have and
- 39:57Speaker 2: there's other quarterbacks that can slow, it down and it,
- 40:01Speaker 2: feels like, you know they probably have five seconds because
- 40:04Speaker 2: they can slow. It down, you know it's like, any sport,
- 40:07Speaker 2: think baseball when guys are in. Hot streaks, you know
- 40:10Speaker 2: they talk about the ball looks like a. Beach ball,
- 40:13Speaker 2: you know when they they're in, a slump they say
- 40:16Speaker 2: it looks like a bb. YOU know, i mean if
- 40:19Speaker 2: you really become really good at, a sport everything slows down.
- 40:23Speaker 2: You're playing, you know it's The Old, john wooden, be
- 40:25Speaker 2: quick but. Don't hurry it's just everything seems like it's
- 40:28Speaker 2: moving at a. Normal pace when you're not seeing, it
- 40:31Speaker 2: right everything seems like it's happening one thousand miles.
- 40:34Speaker 6: Per, Hour, absolutely greg great breakdown of this.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Quarterback class a very interesting, quarterback class and we will
- 40:41Speaker 1: continue to break down every position IN The nfl draft
- 40:45Speaker 1: here On the Intel With.
- 40:46Speaker 6: Greg Cosel For, Adam Kaplan I'm. Jeff Mosher That's. Greg
- 40:50Speaker 6: cosell you've Been Watching the Intel With. Greg cosell
