- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Well, here is a simple question.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: What matters more, getting the result or doing what's right?
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: You know, in the marketplace, those two things don't always line up.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: I've seen people hit their numbers but lose their credibility.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: And I've seen others choose integrity and build something deep that'll last.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: It's meaningful.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Well, today's proverb,
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Proverb 21,
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: challenges us to rethink personal success,
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: not as what we achieve, but how we achieve it.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Today is the 21st day of the month, and we're in Proverbs 21.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Marketplace Proverbs and Coffee with Ernie,
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: where a proverb a day keeps stinking thinking at bay.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: I'm Ernie Lansford.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: After more than 60 years in sales and leadership,
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: I've learned that biblical wisdom is the most valuable asset we can carry into
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: the marketplace.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Each time I read Proverbs,
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Scripture,
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Today is the 21st day of the month and I'm reading from Proverbs 21.3 using
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: the New King James Version.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Quote,
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice, unquote.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: That's Proverbs 21, verse 3, using the New King James Version.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: So let me ask you a question.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: What drives you more?
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Results are doing what's right.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: You know, in today's chaotic marketplace...
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Those two really do not align.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: They don't always align.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Now, in his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus did not say, blessed are those who achieve.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: What he said in Matthew 6,
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: using the New King James Version, quote,
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: for they will be filled, end quote.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: That's Matthew 5, verse 6, the Sermon on the Mount, using the New King James Version.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: You know, there's a deep craving, not for recognition or results, but for rightness.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: I really believe that the majority of us have that.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: And Proverbs 21, 3 reinforces this.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: God values what is right and just,
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: More than outward performance, more than appearances or results.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: And in a chaotic culture, results often get rewarded regardless of how they're achieved.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Hit the number, close the deal, move the product, ring the bell.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: But at what cost?
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Remember,
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: I've often quoted Chan Mitchell,
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: the lead pastor at the Ritz Community Church in Mineral Bluff,
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Georgia, quote, righteous thinking leads to righteous living, end quote.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Now, keep in mind, righteous living means behavior that pleases God.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: There's no deep theology needed.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: It's simple.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Righteousness is behavior that
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: Now, righteousness in the marketplace means doing the right thing when no one is watching.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Making decisions that honor the customer, not the quota.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: And choosing integrity over immediate gain.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: I truly believe that customer success mastery, we don't pursue outcomes, we pursue alignment.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: And here's what I've learned over 60 years in the marketplace.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Right actions build right results all the time.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: It may not be immediate or flashy, but it's sustainable.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: And sustainable always wins in the long run from my perspective.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Today's customer success code,
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: when we hunger for what's right,
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: The right results will follow, just not always on our timeline.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Today's action points, action point one, let's redefine success.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Is success based on results or righteousness?
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: Action point number two is slow down.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: One decision before your next big move, ask, is this right or just effective?
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Action point number three is build long-term thinking.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: What decision today will still look right one year from now or even five years from now?
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: And then action point number four, align your standards.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: Don't let culture set your ethics.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Let truth do that.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Let's pray.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Lord, give me a hunger for what is right, not just what works.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Please help me to choose integrity over convenience and truth over results.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Please help me shape my decisions so they reflect your standard, not the surrounding culture.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: In Jesus' name, amen.

- 6:35SPEAKER_00: And remember, chasing personal success is temporal.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Adding significance to others is temporal.
